maybe I just haven’t seen anyone do it in a way I like idk I like to keep an open mind abt fiction. parent/child ships are automatically extremely squicky for me though and typically the content is more Porn Cliches than anything else which is… fine, if that’s all you’re there for. however I’m primarily drawn to fucked up fictional families bc I want to play around with their psyches and how they all affect each other + unpack the power dynamics. related: 99% of dean/john content I’ve encountered has made me really angry or upset lol… I can’t stomach the generic ship treatment for pairings like this in particular. I’d probably have the same reaction to sam/john if it were more popular.

with all that said you could convince me to try dean/jack much more easily lmfao given [pointing at canon] though again I’ve looked thru the fic out of curiosity and none of it satisfied. another problem is just that most people do not understand these characters or their relationships well enough to be able to write this kind of fic in a way that Appropriately Sickens, I’m afraid.
