Hello!

First of all: thanks for this blog. I know you put a lot of time and effort into it and it's helped a lot of people, myself included, improve at characterization and art and writing in general. I've learned a lot about stereotypes and how to write better representation and so has everyone who keeps up with this blog. You can't be thanked enough for that. That's one of the main things I wanted to say in this ask.

It means a lot to me that you're here and you're putting in the time to teach us about so many important things when you absolutely have no obligation to.

Onto the ask itself, I wanted to know: Is there a next best thing when it comes to sensitivity readers? If you don't have the resources to hire one, what should you do instead? I'm concerned that just reading this blog and doing general research isn't enough.

I hate to say it like this, but Black friends 😅 The best way to better understand Black people is to build community with us, be in spaces where we're actually speaking on things we care about on our media. You'd learn how to spot those things in your own work. That's gonna take time (and shouldn't just be for your stories, btw). If you're in a fandom, there are probably Black voices struggling to be heard with the very answers you seek.

I'm always suggesting reading Black authors who are in the genre that you want to write in and studying their skill as well. Might just have to take a pause from writing and read. It's a practice!

Other than that, you might just have to be vulnerable and post your work, and make it clear that if something is concerning that you'll accept feedback for that from any Black readers that you have. You'll never get everything perfect and that's not the expectation, but you have to be willing to hear the free constructive feedback if that's really what you want.

-"Current Favorite" = Ofc goes to bird daughter Octavia, 'cause aaaa poor girl deserves ALL the love rn 🥺💜

-"Comfort Character" = While not *as* prominent as some other ponies (even princess-wise), without Cadence (+her debut episode "A Canterlot Wedding"), I wouldn't have stuck with MLP for as long as I have soooo ye, a natural comfort fave Cadence has grown to be lol💗

-"By Design" = Tbh I'm not really *that* big into Rainbow High nowadays (idk a mix of general series burnout + the weird slime reboot didn't rly appeal to me-); but Bella in particular is always a fave of mine to see featured (esp doll-wise with how many Bellas I've collected atm lol) 💕

-"By Plot" = About time I *finally* made some TADC fanart, bruh lol (ever since I watched the initial pilot), and yee Pomni's just been a blast to watch throughout these recent eps ngl~ ❤️(esp in her growing empathetic side + gradually-sillier antics with her fellow circus members). Curious to see what else Gooseworx has in-store for this lil jester!👀🤞

-"Guilty Favorite" = Seems to be more commonplace nowadays to find SU a rather... "hit-or-miss" show (esp in the critical community-); but Jasper's always been an entertaining baddie imo (+the odd lil friendship she formed with Steven at the end was pretty amusing lol)

-"All Time Favorite" = Ofc... not a surprise at all to those who've known me long, DP fandom-wise lol. Idk, Sam's just always been a fun & spunky presence for me even years later, so she'll always have a special place in my heart imo~ 💚🦇

The object show community has honestly become so unsafe and toxic. I’ve only been in the community for a year and a half ,but the difference between now and then is honestly drastic. People don’t even enjoy the media anymore, all everyone does is criticise. While criticizing is fine, I don't think a community should be based on that. I have barely seen ANY positive posts about the ii movie, everyone treats it like it's meant to be God tier and I get that everyone thinks they should get what they deserve, but holy shit you guys have nothing good to say. Shipping has also become such a difficult point of discussion in the community, considering that everyone believes that their ship and their ship ONLY is good. Most of the shipping stuff wasn't relevant to me, because I'm a multi-shipper but the fandom takes ship wars to an extreme,honesty speaking. Another point is the fact that people are mad at ii for making canon ships,, again this doesn't bother me,because I have always liked all of the popular ships but it's honestly not that deep. I think I've seen like a million posts about the payjay scene from ii 18,, and people got SO mad over fan service despite the fact that it was like 3 minutes long 😭 Another thing is, I haven't talked about c2bc on here b4, but Cole getting cancelled proved how fast the fandom is willing to act immediately on a show's downfall. "I never really liked the show" that's really not the point here. I feel like people should take the situation of cole being racist more seriously instead of just taking this as a chance to bash the show. Moving on,, I remember seeing a post of someone saying "how could you even cry to object shows,, they're so unserious" why do you care? Genuinely WHO is it hurting.Moreover people saying stuff like only "12 year olds watch object shows" is dumb; because have you ever been in a fandom before??Teenagers literally keep fandoms alive, also who DO you want to be in this community. My last point is how almost everyone acts like object shows are meant to be "amazing works of art",, like they literally started off as terrible. These shows are indie and run by an even amount of people, stop treating the shows like Hollywood. Reminder that these people can do WHATEVER they want with their characters. Animationepic is one of the most listening teams out there, they sacrifice a lot for their fans and I personally think that they're allowed to do anything they want with their characters especially since they put so much effort into what the fans want. As someone who uses object shows and animation in general as a way to escape reality,, it is evident that most of you do the same. So I don't understand why there is just SO MUCH negativity coming from the community,, when os fans are so clearly talented and instead of putting effort into being hateful they can use this energy to make art, amvs, maps and animation memes and help uplift the community and it's overall impact on others.

Ik I normally don't post stuff like this, but the osc is REALLY important to me and I feel like this should be brought to more people's attention.

What's this? A server specifically for FOP angst?

Why yes it is!

The FOP Angst Corner is a server that highlights angst of various shades in the community, and in general serves as a place to both discuss your ideas and engage with others about theirs!

If you're wondering what kind of channels are in a server like this, let me tell you!:

-General channels -Channels for both regular and angst art -Channels for both regular and angst writing -Okay the same as above but for AUs!! -Two (2) channels dedicated to discussing what our AU versions of Peri / Irep respectively would do when interacting with each other . lovingly dubbed the periverse / irepverse -Brainstorming, headcanons, FOP theories, FOP discussion, infodumps, and A LOT MORE -Also a dedicated bug lovers channel. For those of you who love bugs.

And finally, the biggest appeal is that we have DEDICATED AU CHANNELS! It's like having a server specifically for your AU, but WITH OTHERS NEARBY. If you have one (which requires a smidge of angst and having posted about it online), you can share about your AU and have people listen and interact.

So sonic (pace, his name is pace in this universe) comes from this silly little fnf mod called executable mania. Like I said at the beginning, his name is pace :D. He's a lil' guy that is essentially the same as sonic but he's very scared of everything. He will still attempt to save the world, he's just frightened every step of the way. Now the teeth guy (his name is shadow, no not the hedgehog). This shadow is gerald robotnik's creation w/out the black arms involvement. Unfortunately it manages to escape captivity. And it chases for it's next host to embody. That's all I got! I like to think that if you're in a fandom space posting AI art, it's because you just aren't aware of why that might be a problem.

So in case you aren't aware: the generative AI you might be using to create "fanart" is trained on a countless number of artworks created by artists whose permission was not asked. Or maybe it was, technically, intentionally buried in a terms of service document somewhere, or in an update which they could either accept or else delete an entire social media account with years of history. This "art" is only possible because of stolen art. When you post images created by generative AI, you are supporting that.

Also, fandom is about creation and community. Individuals and groups creating art of all sorts, and sharing it with each other. When you post AI art... you haven't really created anything. To me at least, that's kind of detracting from what fandom is about. I want to share and raise up works of art that my community has worked hard to create, not something generative AI spit out from a couple key word inputs.

I can't tell anybody here what to do. If you are posting AI art, I'm sure there are some people who will like it, who will share it, who will be happy to do so. But there will also be people who aren't happy about it. There will be people – and especially artists – who will be frustrated to see other people in their community who support this technology that has stolen directly from them. There will be people who will block you, who will refuse to interact with your posts, and it will make your community smaller.

I understand it's tempting, especially if you aren't an artist yourself. But if you want art that fits a specific prompt, there are other ways to get it that actually support the fandom community: submit your prompt to a fanartist who accepts prompts, or commission someone for a piece of art, or even give it a try yourself and start learning to actually make art!

I don't hate AI as a whole. I think there are a lot of really amazing things we can do with AI, if it's used correctly. But posting AI fanart is not one of them.

Third and last character of the same strong female character exercise, this was my second favorite character out of the three

I really enjoy going back and watching my old art, as I can see my growth, plus it’s always nice to redraw things as time goes and skill increases.

Hopefully someday soon, I’ll redraw these, hopefully they’ll get a home or a purpose, a lot of the characters from exercises don’t end up being used, but I still wish to redraw them before I might trade them or sale them with up to date art~
