i rewatched Dune Part Two recently and one of the most striking shots for me was the one of the Fremen attacking the Sardaukar on wormback, while holding the Atreides flag.

Like, we just saw the Sardaukar forming up with their numerous flag bearers, even trying to maintain their flags raised after the nuclear detonation (in a shot that mirrored the famous "Raising the Flag in Iwo Jima" statue to me btw, nice nod to imperialism).

And then the Fremen arrive, but they're not bearing their colors, their flags, not fighting in their own names, instead it's the Atreides colors. The colors of their new, imperially appointed rulers. New pawns in the warfare between Great Houses, soldiers instead of freedom fighters. Urgh. Wish i could make gifsets.

Yeah yeah yeah it's horrifying!! You are watching a national liberation movement get successfully co-opted by a superpower and it's awful!

They did such a good job making it feel creepy and foreboding when the Atreides symbols and motifs start re-appearing in the last hour or so of the movie. The second Gurney shows up he immediately re-introduces the Atreides way of looking at the world, and it's disturbing how easily Paul falls back into thinking like that, seeing the planet and its people as tools to be used in an inter-imperial power play. (It's right after Gurney tells him about the family nukes that Paul has the signet ring out for the first time since the beginning of the second act and we're like OH NO.) This is before he drinks the Water of Life; he is already starting to think like a colonial duke again some time before he declares himself one.

After the opening montage where we see the piles of bodies being burnt, we don't see the stylized Atreides hawk symbol for most of the movie. The next time it appears is on a vault of nuclear weapons, which are never treated as anything but a curse. It's so important that Stilgar and Chani are with Paul and Gurney when they open the vault so we can see their horror at these weapons and the gleeful, casual way Gurney talks about them. Chani is also seeing an aspect of Paul that she hasn't really witnessed before--Paul, the Future of House Atreides--and she does not like it.

And then of course the whole ending battle is making the point over and over again with repeated imagery that Atreides and Harkonnens are exactly the fucking same. All the imagery from the initial Harkonnen attack on Arrakeen in Part One--which at least shows the Atreides as brave in the face of overwhelming odds--gets inverted into something that's supposed to make us shudder. That scene of Gurney hacking his way through the crowd of soldiers with someone carrying the Atreides flag behind him? Nightmarish.

All of this stuff is super important to what the movie is trying to say because it is very very easy for us to buy into the Atreides' propaganda about themselves being the good guys. If we're paying attention to what Chani tells us in the literal first 3 minutes of the first movie, we already know we should be viewing them with a bit of critical distance. And while I think there is plenty in the first movie to make us side-eye their noble image (Leto saying we will bring peace to Arrakis?? fucking yikes dude), it's easy to forget that because Leto generally seems like a good dude to the people close to him, and he dies tragically so we never get to see much of what kind of colonizer he would have become. And I think it's easy to start thinking well if only Leto the more reasonable parent had lived then things wouldn't have turned out this way.

But fucking desert power?? That was Leto's idea. This is Leto's dream being realized. The plan was always to use the Fremen as pawns in the power struggle between the Great Houses. Maybe not quite in the way that Paul does cause he definitely goes off with it, but the end result is just as much a product of Atreides imperialism as it is of Bene Gesserit religious colonialism. The Atreides aren't inherently any more noble or benevolent than the Harkonnens in their intentions, they just have better PR. But the end result is exactly the same: a pile of dead bodies being set on fire.

MY SPECIAL ANGELS <3 <3

Carver:

First impression: Okay, so I was active on the Bioware forums well before DA2's release and this actually inspired me to see what old posts I could dig up (do not recommend btw). I can officially find documentation of me being EMBARRASSINGLY thirsty as far back as November 2010. I wrote a drabble on the forum shipping him with my Tabris before the game released, lol, so ultimately my first impression (i.e, gonna latch on immediately) stuck. I did assume he was going to be a lot sweeter/less prickly/honestly blander than he turned out to be. I was expecting more of a himbo.

Impression now: He's my most special boy. Better than what I'd expected, which was a pleasant surprise. He is so full of conflict all the time, and I love it. He is delightfully prickly and also a big dumb jock and it’s the best.

Favorite moment: The scene where Carver and Hawke argue about Bethany stands out as one of my favorite video game moments, period. It was a moment that just reflected Carver's character so well: he's rash and temperamental, and he's hurting so badly as he struggles to find a new path for himself and cope with Bethany's death, he feels trapped and is stifling, he still loves his family fiercely, etc.

Idea for a story: I am actually getting around to writing all of my ideas! I finished my first Warden Carver/Warden Surana fanfic (shameless plug Never Free) which is mostly about an assassination plot against my Surana but also fills in the gaps of what Carver was up to during Act 2 of DA2, which I always love to think about. I've also always wanted to expand upon the Legacy DLC and give Hawke and Carver more chances to talk about their parents and Bethany (which I am also finishing up now: Failed Attempts at Simpler Lives shameless plug #2). I've ALSO always wanted to write about what happens to him in the immediate aftermath of Dragon Age 2, and how he reacts to finding out that Hawke was left in the Fade in Inquisition. I WILL GET THERE.

Unpopular opinion: Hmm, well, I hate the templar path for him? I've come up with better reasons to justify my dislike, but the real reason is that my taste for tragedy has weird limits and it makes me too sad to think that he gets addicted to lyrium. I don't really know how unpopular that is, though. Maybe a better answer is that my boy is BEEFY. He is built like a brick shithouse, and I hate when people draw him too lean.

Favorite relationship: His relationship to Hawke is the easy canon answer. She drives him crazy, she's irritating as hell, she's his best friend, he looks to her for leadership, he wants to shove her into a mud puddle, he would tear apart a burning city to make sure she's safe. Shipwise, obviously, it's my personal pet ship which is Carver hooking up with the Hero of Ferelden and Surana specifically. He HAS to get with a mage, he just HAS to, it's too delicious.

Favorite headcanon: He's incredibly Fade-sensitive, though he can't use magic directly. He can feel the Fade being manipulated around him and how in ways that most non-mages really can't fathom. For example, he can tell when Hawke is about to throw a fireball and he needs to get the hell out of the way versus she's about to cast a buff on him. He just attributes this to a lifetime of training with a mage father and two mage siblings rather than any innate ability. When it's pointed out to him that, no, this is pretty unusual, he just kinda scoffs and says anybody could figure it out if they tried hard enough.

Bethany:

First impression: Unfortunately I can't trace my Bethany opinions back to a series of embarrassing forum posts in 2010/2011. I think my first impression is what everyone's is: that Bethany is a sweetheart baby sister, a pure cinnamon roll.

Impression now: She's more complicated than the above. She's still a ray of sunshine, still kind and thoughtful, but she also carries so much anger and guilt. She feels just as trapped in a life she doesn't want as Carver does. Even more so, because at least Carver can hope to escape his circumstances: Bethany can't stop being a mage.

Favorite moment: ALL of her banters with Isabela. I adore their relationship more than anything.

Idea for a story: I wouldn't mind a story about her leaving Kirkwall after DA2 and ending up in Ferelden with the rebel mages. I would REALLY love a story where she meets a Ferelden noble (maybe a Cousland Warden?) who just falls hopelessly and madly in love with her and ultimately Bethany becomes a teyrna or arlessa or something. Give my girl the fairy tale she used to read about as a lonely child in Lothering.

Unpopular opinion: I can’t think of anything direct, though maybe my preference for a Mage Hawke worldstate (which means Bethany dies) could count?

Favorite relationship: The relationship between the twins haunts the narrative, to me at least. I picture each twin considering the other their better half and something irreplaceable is missing once they're gone. I am also a little bit obsessed with Bethany/Isabela ever since the banter that Isabela sends her naughty books in the Circle.

Favorite headcanon: That she allows herself to be caught and taken to the Circle. She surely would have heard that Bartrand's expedition returned to the city and probably believed Hawke to be dead. In a world where Hawke isn't a mage, Bethany has spent her whole life feeling guilty for what her family has gone through to protect her. Then both of her siblings die, and taking care of Leandra has fallen onto Bethany's shoulders. I think she has enough quiet self-loathing to believe that the best way to keep her mother safe is to remove the riskiest, most volatile thing from her life: Bethany herself. Plus Bethany is just tired of running, tired of hiding, and tired of feeling so very alone.

I rewatched season 5 and all it did was further my disappointment. Ive never made it a secret that i only started watching the show for Tanner/Robby. And i only stuck around because i love the character.

But HOLY FUCK did they do Robby so Badly. Like do the writers hate Robby? Cause i think they do. He has been put through so much during the show and alot of it ended up not doing anything for the plot other than traumatize the already moat traumatized kid on the show.

Robby always seems to have the short end of the stick in this show from losing the AV twice because plot demanded it despite him being THE most (other than sam) talented of the participants, to going to juvie (self defense). Robby can never be happy, and his trauma and feelings are always downplayed by the writers.

What did this season have him do? APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE. I was so tired of seeing Robby apologize without getting any back. Especially from miguel, the scene with Johnny making them fight was so fucking stupid and dangerous. Robby admitting he regretted it was fine and probably good for him because it meant getting the guilt he felt off his chest, BUT he deserved and apology too. Miguel escalated everything during the fight and pushed everything to the point! He needed to apologize to robby too for pushing it that far, because news flash tory and miguel were the aggressors of the school fight and both owe robby and sam and apology. But Robby didnt get one because the writers feel like he either didn't deserve one or miguel shouldnt have to after what happened to him (which was tragic, but he needs to admit his hand in it too).

Hawk owes Robby an apology for a whole fucking lot imo. How he acted during the first all valley, how he jumped robby and sam, how he kept continuously accusing Robby of helping instigate fights between dojos at the water park (despite robby doing what robby does best and trying to stop them? See a pattern? Me too).

Hawk is a miniature Johnny, he never faces any real consequences for his actions. He destroyed the Dojo and nothing. Broke Dimitris arm? Nothing which is assault with bodily harm btw (not self defense at all). And never once did we see Hawk apologize to anyone (i might be misremembering but honestly it doesn't change my mind on hawk). Hawk is the character who owes the most apologies to the most people and yet nothing. But Robby seemingly apologized for everything to everyone amd i hated it.

I sort of enjoyed how everyone became friends at first until i realized that it was all because Robby had to conform and become someone else to fit into everything. Someone mentioned in a post that we saw Chameleon Robby out in full force this season and i couldn't agree more. Robby had to twist and turn to make his relationship with johnny work, and the one thing he was clear about was not liking or wanting to be Miguel's friend. And honestly i don't blame him, especially after johnny lied, tricked, and guilted Robby into helping him rescue miguel (the mexico plot was pretty fucking pointless imo) but Johnny kept pushing and once again made things dangerous for robby and miguel by telling them to fight.

My favorite interaction and the most genuine was with Robby and Daniel and i WISH we got more, because Robby was at his happiest in season 2 when he was living with the Larusso's and was accepted without question, no conditions. He could be himself. Where as with Johnny it feels like his acceptance of robby is conditional. Robby is only welcome if he conforms and essentially submits to what Johnny wants. And Robby has no reason not to think that if he steps out of line Johnny will abandon him like he has done Robbys entire life.

I hated this season solely because of how bad it was for Robby. Pure and simple. The only good thing was how determined Robby was to help Tory and Kenny. He never gave up on them. Robby has this habbit of being who he needs for others. He needs people to believe in him and never give up on him, He needed a mentor whose help wasn't conditional. He needed people to be there for him. But he didnt have that so he became that for others. Despite this being such a shitty season for Robby, at least that shone through.

BnHA Chapter 303: And What, Pray Tell, Is a “One For All”

Previously on BnHA: The Todorokis (really just Enji) looked at their children and went “how can we screw up all four of them in uniquely different ways” and proceeded to do just that. Touya was all “just because practicing how to set myself on fire better hasn’t worked to win my dad’s affections YET doesn’t mean it will NEVER work”, because child logic. Turns out setting oneself on fire real hard isn’t so effective at winning affections, but is actually incredibly effective when it comes to burning oneself to death, so there’s that. Back in the present day, the Todorokis basked in their various misplaced (again, except for Enji) feelings of guilt, and were all “anyway but get over yourself already Enji, you still have to do something to stop this kid”, and Shouto was all “I’ll help too”, and Enji was all “(╥_╥)”, and Hawks and Jeanist were all “[surreptitiously listening in from outside the door]”, and that’s basically where we left off.

Today on BnHA: Hawks and Jeanist are all “mind if we join you on this family journey?” and proceed to stroll in uninvited with their puns and their perceptive insights. Hawks is all “so to sum everything up, we’re fucked, but at least you have us here to help you out! by the way, no clue why I’m the first person to ask this in three hundred chapters, but wtf is One For All.” We then cut to Deku, who’s still all “[(－－)]z”, and All Might, who is all “I’m just going to ignore the extremely loud racket going on right outside this room.” Which, btw, is happening on account of Bakugou, who is all “(╬◣Д◢)” as Satou, Tsuyu, and Mineta cart him away. Anyway so that’s a lot of antics, and also it looks like Hawks has gotten tired of the Todorokis refusing to put the pieces together on their own about OFA and so he is fast-tracking that shit. And meanwhile Deku is chatting it up with the Vestiges exactly like we all thought. And now we have to wait another whole week for updates on all of this. This really is not fair.

but shouto hasn’t watched any studio ghibli movies before he and you started dating

he just didn’t have the time/opportunity outside of his intense training with endeavor

when you find out about that you’re about to march to the todoroki mansion yourself to have a word with the man

but you can contain your anger

so instead you make it your mission to educate shouto

yes educate

not having watched ghibli movies certainly is a huge educational gap

shouto doesn’t complain

he likes spending time with you

and he certainly won’t waste the opportunity to spend the afternoon cuddled up with you

laying in bed and being all warm and cozy

you’ll make tea and get all the snacks

and you tell shouto to pay attention because you have to make up for some important childhood memories

he absolutely adores ghibli movies after that

mainly because he connects them to spending time with you while you’re all happy and calm

he really enjoys the music, too

(probably uses some of the soundtrack to help him sleep)

it’s just so calm and happy

he also loves the visuals

shouto is a man of taste alright

whenever you roll up with a blanket under your one arm and a laptop under your other he knows it’s studio ghibli time

this man secretly loves studio ghibli movies above all else

not only because they’re calm and peaceful enough to fall asleep to

and he likes all the little messages that are conveyed through them

he likes them best, when he’s watching them with you though

you’re both pretty busy so that’s a rare occasion

Moon Knight episode 4 ramblings

So.. I couldn't wait a week when I saw that screencap of Marc and Steven together so... I just HAD to watch episode 4.

I am SO going to end up doing a review like with Supernatural, ain't I? And DEAR LORD DON'T LET THAT PLOT BUNNY IN MY HEAD!

So, obviously, Steven Grant is my woobie husbando, he will ALWAYS be my woobie husbando and I adore him. Thing is, yes, I used to love him from the comics, but in the comics? I am a bit more of a Marc girl. Here? Oh, god, Oscar Isaac gives Steven SO MUCH LOVE and so much personality that I just can't not love Steven as my #1.

If you don't read the comics, I have to explain. While TV Marc has pretty much 99% of Comic Marc's personality, mannerisms and backstory (Seriously, as of episode 4 the only difference is the fact that he MARRIED Layla whereas Comic Marc never married Marlene, and Marlene was present when her father died so there was no way to blame Marc for it. And now, I wonder where TV Frenchie is), TV Steven is NOTHING like Comic Steven. Comic Steven (Who is currently, ahem, literally in a sarcophagus in Marc's mind so, lol) started as... well, to be as nice as I can? A Bad Bruce Wayne copy. He had to be rich, to get Marc and Jake money for Moon Knight stuff, but he was... very vapid. And while Lemire did a lot for him (I think by now you know I WORSHIP Lemire's Moon Knight run) , he was stilll... the less useful personality. Even as he was also the oldest AND the one created to protect Marc from very nasty memories and encounters with a pedo nazi. I wish I was kidding about that last part.

But here? Here Steven could easily be the ACTUAL uhm, don't want to say first or original as I know that's the wrong word but... born to the body? And if he isn't? It doesn't matter because he STILL has a life. He is geeky as hell, he's charming, he's shy. Seeing him geek out in episode 3 about being in the Pyramid of Giza and now here when he found Alexander the Great's tomb? Those things make him far, far more real for me than him kissing Layla (Although that was to be expected. In Moon Knight, the ONE thing that the three personalities have in common is always their love interest. I don't think there was ever a run in which only one of the alters loved the current designated love interest or each alter had their own love interest. Marlene is... Pretty much untouchable right there with Mary Jane Watson) because those are things that are HIS, and not shared with Marc.

Speaking of, poor Marc. He is REALLY lost without Khonshu, for all he yelled and screamed about Khonshu being an ass. And... uhm.. HOW many gods have the egypcian pantheon stoned? Seriously, it's about time they start re-thinking their approach or Lokigator could take over in three seconds flat. And probably do a better job of protecting humanity.

I do wonder if that third sarcophagus at the end was Jake. I do hope it was Jake. I am DYING to meet Jake and see what Oscar Isaac does with him, given how perfectly different Steven and Marc are. And how little episodes we have left to meet him!

Ethan Hawke, btw, is also deserving of an Oscar (Just not Oscar Isaac, no RPF here). His "Steven Grant" was hilariously Shatnery, and his Dr. Harrow nice enough to ALMOST believe his worry for Marc. ALMOST.

May Calamawy is perfect, and I hadn't mentioned her before, sorry, but Too many things in my head. I love how Layla is so strong and so capable of taking care of herself. YES she is broken, and YES she has the worst husband ever (not that Marc is bad. He's just bad at communicating) but HELL if she's going to let that stop her from doing the right thing!

Loved seeing Crawley moving! Even if it was so short. And the asylum sequence was perfect and seriously, right out of Lemire's. I missed Khonshu, but, well, he's a bit petrified right now.

I'll admit, there was only ONE thing that I disliked from the episode, and it was Arthur's scene with Layla. Not because it was not gorgeous, incredibly shot, acted and photographed. The scene itself was great, especially as Arthur only used ENOUGH information to make Layla doubt Marc, without actually LYING to her (Seriously, he reminds me so much of The Truth... he's like a mixture of The Truth and Sun King and of course, Dr. Emmit - aka Ammit, who is a woman in the comics a- that I love him) BUT... it makes pretty clear that the scene in the Asylum is not REAL. That Marc is NOT imagining everything, and that whatever it's going on in the asylum is fake even BEFORE we meet Taweret because it's something that neither Marc nor Steven witnessed. So it makes it a bit obvious that yeah, our guys are a bit crazy, but not THAT crazy.

OTOH, I dunno how I would've kept that amazing scene later as a flashback so... I can live with it. After all, we are not that deep in mindgames that we'd think this is all in Marc's head (because btw, I LOVED that the one who woke in the Asylum was Marc and not Steven, since Steven would've made more sense given the whole "maybe you are imagining everything" angle.

Khonshu, these ramblings are getting longer every time. Damn you Marvel for only giving us 6 episodes! Please, be nice and, as you did with Loki, give us a second season!

Ok, let’s try to dig and find gold.

So here I was, wondering for a whole week who’s gonna be the one to kick little Toyua’s ass. Rei??? Enji? Miraculously summoning his quirk Shouto? I’m putting off my clown wig bc no such scene. Is it a burned sleeve, Enji? Is it the answer I’m seeking? 👀

Um, kids are banned from the privilege to laugh at little Shou-Shou snot bubbles. Sorry, Natsu, Fuyumi, blame your big bro over there.

What caught my eye immediately was that the chapter has a very dark vibe. Enji’s face are hidden in the shadows almost everywhere. Man, it gives you chills, just look at this. Yikes.

And we are at the beginning of the circle again. Same scene but now we have two perspectives. Touya’s eyes are so sad... “I want to be on his place, if only I could...” after all this years he still hasn’t given up here. Playing with his siblings is never gonna be enough. If only they could switch places. Again- shadoooooows.

Poor Natsu, he just wants his sleep back. Ugh, go bother Fuyumi, damn it.

The last person Toyua believed would stay by his side, would understand him, would be there for him currently doesn’t give a fuck, bc sleep is important, duh. He’s utterly alone. Can we start crying already? Yeah? Ok.

it’s time for Mom to try too. “Touya, go play with your friends?please?” “No!”

Well he didn’t listen to his father, and he had a great amount of respect for the man. So kinda an obvious outcome. The thing that got me is that from the early age Touya knows the whole shit ton of dirt. A kid. Thinks that he’s just a flawed experiment, and his mom went along with that. Producing kids. For money. I’d go crazy too.

Also we see Endeavor again hidden in the darkness. He looks like a scary fairytale monster, waiting to drag you in hell. He’s too far gone, the light can’t reach him anymore.

Fuyumi and Natsu, hugging and crying? They too knew what was happening, navigating in this neglect and screams...how did they manage to grow up and be normal functioning human being again?

And the saddest frame award goes to...

It’s just devastating. Touya sitting alone, crying bc his dad doesn’t care. No matter how hard he tries, no matter now much pain he’s endures, nothing works, and he’s alone. Always alone.

Oh wtf Enji. Stop, or I’m gonna have nightmares!

My favorite frame. Every member of Todoroki family, reflecting, acknowledging where they could face it defferently, how could they save him...

And now they’re finally ready to face it. Together. As a family, standing side by side.

Rei, calling Shouto their family hero? Shouto acting mature, not going solo but sharing his plan, asking advice, considering his family opinions? I’m.. it’s... I’m so proud, I can’t find words to express it, sorry.

One more completed circle. Shouto’s first step to become a hero was saving his mom. And now she’s here, standing tall, telling him “you’re a hero, son” 🥲 and Todo is thankful to Deku for that. For showing him the way out of his resentment and pain. Deku was there in time, while nobody showed up for Touya...

Ok. I need to say it again. Todoroki Shouto is the kindest, most selfless soul alive. Bite me.

He’s here to give Enji a chance to make it right this time. Give him a hand. He was saving ppl from the age of five. I’ll fight every civilian who’ll dare to say shit about him

And after my tears’ve filled my entire room, I see the eavesdropping blonde and I lose it.

I was thinking it was Natsu who wanted to treat his baby bro with soba, but here it’s says Touya. Anyhow, anyone will do. Just give that boy his comfort food, he deserves it. I deserve it too after all of this emotional whirlwind of never ending pain.

Now we’ve discovered almost everything, the last question is Touya’s death. I wonder, if it was Ujiko, the doc who spoke with Todo parents about Touya and his quirk, could he pass this info to someone? Or could he help the boy himself to escape?

My theories on that scene from the Season 4 preview

When I saw the preview for 4, something that stood out to me (besides Shadow Moth’s hilarious look) is the scene where Alix, Alya, Mylene, Rose, and Juleka getting re-akuamatized. I have come up with several theories regarding the circumstances behind their akumatization, several of which I already shared in the form of asks @princess-of-the-corner and I would like to elaborate on them here (As u can only say so much in an ask), as well as provide some additional theories. 

1. Lila’s lies have successfully gotten the girls pissed at Marinette and/or Ladybug- admittedly, this one is the least likely from both a watsonian and doyelist standpoint. From a doylelist standpoint, I feel like the episode will be enough a re-hash of Felix and Ladybug without the whole “someone got the girls pissed at one of the heroes by framing one of the main characters” thing.  From a Watsonian standpoint, they probably already been informed of Lila’s ‘lying disease’ after the events of Ladybug, so Lila’s probably going to have a harder time getting people to believe her (because if someone told me that they had a lying disease that forces them to lie, I’d probably take any other claim with a grain of salt). 

2. The girls decided to have a meeting to discuss Lila’s disease and how they can help her, and when the girls started comparing notes regarding Lila’s stories (like saving Jagged Stone’s cat) and realized that even her claim about having a lying disease doesn't make sense (because if she was lying about Marinette stealing the test answers and necklace, then how did they wind up in her backpack and locker, and also shouldn't the faculty already been informed of Lila’s disease when she first came to school?). Their confusion regrading what’s true and what isn't, remorse for not listening to Marinette, and anger at Lila, draw an akuma which lands on them while they were holding hands as part of an attempt to comfort each other and calm down. Now unlike in Felix where Lady Wifi is the only akuma that makes sense in the context of “my friend sent us a mean message when we just trying to cheer him up,” most if not all of the returning akumas could easily be applied to the situation of the girls starting to see through Lila’s lies. I can practically hear Hawk Moth’s speech to them- “Timebreaker, you regret having trusted this liar over your own friend, so I‘m giving u the chance to go back in time to fix your mistake. Lady Wifi, I’m giving u back the power to expose her lies. Princess Fragrance, Lila Rossi used u and your friends as pawns, but now, you’ll be the one who controls her and everyone around her. Reflekta, this girl lied to make herself the center of attention, but it might be difficult for her to stand out if everyone looks the same. Horrificator, I’m giving you the power to make Lila feel as helpless as her past victims. In return, well you probably know the drill by now. Do we have a deal?” 

3. Verity Queen made them her knights- Mrs. Rossi runs into Marinette and Sabine and Lila’s lying disease is brought up and Mrs. Rossi is all “my daughter doesn't have a lying disease.” An argument ensues and draws an akuma, which lands on Sabine (who may have been taking the bullet for Marinette) and she becomes Verity Queen, who has a lasso of truth, She then uses her lasso of truth on Marinette (whom Sabine is most trusting of, but she felt Mrs. Rossi would only believe Marinette if she was under the influence of the lasso of truth), and Marinette confirms that she did not cheat or steal Lila’s necklace and that she Lila clammily walk down the stairs instead being pushed down. Verity Queen then asks Marinette why Lila would want to do this, Marinette replies that she was making good on her threat to turn everyone against her. Verity Queen is understandably pissed at Lila, so she leaves to go find Lila, taking Mrs. Rossi with her.  She can't find Lila, but she does manage to find Marinette’s friends, and after explaining to them what Marinette told her about Lila, turns them into her knights, which r their akumatized forms, and she sends them out to search for Lila. They manage to track Lila down and take her to the tv station, where Verity Queen is waiting and has already ‘knighted’ Nadja back into Prime Queen. Verity Queen then uses her lasso of truth to force Lila to admit all of her wrongdoings on live tv. 

4. Mrs. Rossi gets akumatized- Mrs. Rossi finally gets around to asking her colleagues what they should do about Ladybug’s incompetence. Mistaking this for a joke, the colleagues laugh their asses off. As they do so, Mrs. Rossi’s anger at not being taken seriously draws an akuma and here is Hawk Moth speech to her: “Red Queen, nobody but you cares about getting the akumas under control, so I’m giving u the power to do it yourself. In return, I ask that u bring me the miraculous of the heroes too incompetent to do it themselves. Do we have a deal.” The akumatized Mrs. Rossi replies “Time to show those how to do their jobs!” and becomes Red Queen who has the power to turn up to 16 people (I’m going for a chess motif here. Maybe I should call her White Queen instead) back into their akumatized forms (but she’s under the impression that they’re already in their akumatized forms) and control them. Among the people she turns back into akumas are Alix, Alya, Mylene, Rose, and Juleka. As for who the rest of the re-akuamitzed ‘pieces,’ hard to say (there r a lot to choose from). After de-akumatizing Mrs. Rossi, she explains what Lila told her, and the the heroes (which may include new ones, as in this scenario, Ladybug and Chat Noir are dealing with 16 villains, who will probably be more spread out throughout the city this time around) and former ‘chess pieces’ explain the truth  Mrs. Rossi, and one of the girls wonders if Lila’s ‘lying disease’ was acting up, and Mrs. Rossi is all like ‘what lying disease?” Yeah, Lila’s in big trouble. 

5. it’s just a stress-induced nightmare- it won't be the main focus of the episode, it will just be the opening scene to show how the pressure of being the new guardian is getting to her. This scenario is kinda boring.

6. Sandboy 2- Sandboy is back again, but similar to Gamer and Puppeteer, his powers have been modified. This time, instead of bringing people’s nightmares to life, he forces them into a deep sleep where they r forced to deal with nightmares they can’t wake up from (think the “Only a Dream” two-parter of Justice League, except that Sandboy can't enter anyone’s dreams). Among Sanboy’s victims is Marinette. Her nightmare (and possibly the episode, of the writer do that thing where they don't immediately reveal it’s a dream) begins with her friends disappointed with her for reason they refuse to explain and transform back into the akumatized forms and they go after her. In this nightmare, the re-akumtizations don't end with the ones seen the preview. One by one, everyone who has been akumatized turns back into their akuma form, ending with Chat Noir becoming Chat Blanc and then everyone screams at Ladybug/Marinette for falling them. She tries to summon her lucky charm, but it doesn't work. Then a nightmare version of Hawk Moth shows up and he sends an akuma Ladybug, who tries to dodge, only for Volpina to hold her down, and when Ladybug tries to resist the akumtization, all while letting out some of the most bloodcurdling screams in Christina Vee’s career. Meanwhile, in the real world, Tikki tries to wake up Marinette and when that fails, tries to remove her earrings so she can loan them to someone, but that fails too for whatever reason). So out of desperation, Tikki grabs one of the goat miraculous out of the miracle box and tracks down Marc. Tikki explains that Ladybug has been affected by Sandboy’s powers and need Marc’s help to save her). Marc then becomes the goat hero, whose power is astral projection (btw the idea of the goat’s power being astral projection was probably inspired by a fanfic called Capricorn by mico-j-ken, as Capricorn has similar powers. When Marc tries to give the goat miraculous back to Ladybug, she tell him to keep it, explaining that this experience made her realize that there will be situations that she won't be able to get out of with our help. As a sidenote, Marc may or may not have figured out Ladybug’s secret identity (depending on how careful Tikki, such as asking Goat! Marc to close his eyes while she lead Marc to Marinette) and may have found out about Lila’s bitchery via Nightmare!Lila monologging about making good on her threat against Marinette as Goat!Marc was entering Marinette nightmare.

And like I said countless times since you guys just don’t care about other ppl, if you write n*ruto’s name entirely it will show up in the search pages and I am fed up with raging SN/SN.S/Nar stans bitching at me.

Sorry (nope, not sorry) to break someone’s bubble but Nar is not a happy ball of sunshine and he’s not selfless. 

He was neglected as a child, totally abandoned to himself with some money each month and an apartment he was supposed to clean and manage all alone. He was shunned or treated like sh*t by villagers and classmates alike, his only ‘parent’ was Iruka who couldn’t be with him always, and his idea of friendship, family, everything was twisted, cause try living all by yourself since you’re a child and you have no idea of why ppl hate you and avoid you. Of course he saw the Hokage as this big authority figure that everyone respects and ‘loves’ in his child mind, and of course he wanted to be Hokage so that ppl would finally respect and ‘love’ him. His idea of love is obviously screwed, and it’s a mix of respect, aknowledgement, deference.

He doesn’t have a sense of equality because he never learned what equality is. He was below everyone else being shunned and hated, and his role model was above everyone else, where he aspired to be.

He started to make friends and he’s all about comrades, yes, like all shounen protagonists. But it’s always him reaching out to them, him protecting them, him changing their minds about something (or about himself), him obtaining their admiration and respect from an initial situation of being the opposite, being considered a good for nothing and a loser.

Sasuke is considered the opposite since the beginning, he’s a good student and shinobi, he’s left all alone too and nothing is shown of his alone life but from the little things we see he learned to manage himself and the house better, he didn’t care about people probably talking behind his back about the massacre, and he obtained a good reputation in the academy, so the story starts with him in a different situation. And Nar considers him a rival, he’s clearly jealous of the ‘success’ he has, not realizing that he’s alone too. Because Nar is not empathic at all, and his child self is even less, being a child with clear difficulties in processing things, which makes sense since he had no education basically. He just sees external signs of adjustment and ‘success’ which is what he wants, so he ‘hates’ Sasuke and he provokes him all the time. They become rivals, then comrades (and rivals), then friends, but it’s always Sasuke who, despite his aloof personality, shows positive signs, first hand feeding him, then defending him against Sak*ra, then shielding him and many other little things while Nar is always overreacting or doing questionable, not to say bad things (like attacking him and tying him up to meet Sak*ra) to him.

Nar’s lack of empathy can be seen after the inn scene, cause instead of being I won’t even say supportive but, not irritating, he mocks Sasuke who just woke up after Tsukuyomi, provoking him so that Sasuke, already (re)traumatized and feeling worthless towards both his brother and Naru, challenges him. Right after waking up from a coma, basically. And ofc Nar doesn’t hold back.

When Sasuke leaves in part 1 Nar is enraged, ofc, and he reacts violently, even their fight is very violent, and ofc it is being a fight, but Nar is really really brutal, feral I’d say, and possessive, trying to bring him back. I don’t remember their fight well but if I’m not mistaken that’s when he first threatens Sasuke to break all his bones?

Then Sasuke leaves and Nar starts his own “sad boy missing his ‘best friend’ drama” and all the fandom is uwu look at him so sensitive, but he’s being abstract there, while when he faces Sasuke direcly or indirectly he’s different, more direct and not sentimental. As expected of a badass fighter, cause that’s what he is, that’s what everyone is in the story. when in part 2 Orochimaru calls Sasuke ‘his’ he goes berserk, and his search for Sasuke becomes even more obsessive, to the point of claiming that if they’ll fight they’ll both die and theyll be ok in the afterlife...this is kinda poetic but also creepy af. It’s stalker material tbh. Also because in that moment Sasuke just ‘killed’ Danzo, he’s exhausted, visibly blind, especially after fighting Kakashi, whose fight clearly took his toll on him (He avoided Sak*ra’s pathetic attempt to kill him but that was easy). Nar has all his energies and he’s stronger physically anyway having more stamina and kyuubi’s chakra. But he’s ready to fight him, even tho he gives a speech because ofc. too bad that Sasuke doesn’t fall for it cause he has his own personality and his own goals, which for Nar is unacceptable cause everyone must be on his side, especially the one he wants.

Sasuke remains on his own side until Itachi does his thing and bla bla bla, Itachi first is brougth close to Nar which was interesting to watch but also a huge narrative move to bring Sasuke to his side as well, getting to fight alongside his beloved brother and wanting to understand him and his ideal of protecting Konoha thus summoning Orochimaru, the 4 Hokage and deciding to join the battlefield. Then they fight together and even then it’s Sasuke who accepts Naru’s lead, not the other way round because Nar would never obey anyone who’s not himself especially he wouldn’t obey someone he wants to possess, metaphorically (but if you like also literally).

When the battle is over and their battle starts he shows his true colors. He’s no longer the one wanting to die with his ‘friend’, he’s a leader wanting Sasuke, his ‘friend’ who in his eyes took the wrong road, to get back to the village, because Konoha is HIS concept of happiness. In fact, Sasuke in Konoha is Nar’s concept of happiness. And to obtain it he uses every method, not just a good ol’ fight, the more brutal the better. In fact their last fight has a different vibe, it’s Sasuke the one who’s more stressed and emotional, he’s drained, completely, cause he wants his revolution and he wants to change the world to make him like Itachi dreamed of, and he needs to eliminate Nar for it, he doesn’t want to eliminate him but he needs to and he clearly explains him why in the beginning of the fight. The way he fights is desperate.

Nar instead is calm, his emotions are under control, he fights with his hands but also with mind techniques because he manipulates Sasuke all the time: he tells him that he didn’t understand his own brother (implying that he did it better. That he, who interacted with Edo Tensei Itachi for a couple of hours, understands him better than the brother who basically worships him!), that everything he believes is wrong, that he knows what’s best for him (which is interestingly exactly what he wanted in life, what a coincidence). And it works, cause Sasuke admits his own defeat, and, later, he is further brainwashed and guilt tripped, jailed and submitted until he’s a perfect Konoha dog. Even in his Shinden episodes he’s away but loyal and guilt ridden for his actions. He became Naru’s watchdog, his most loyal servant. Not his equal. He fulfilled Naru’s wish for him.

And, in case someone’s still not enraged because Hawk how dare you shit on their amazing bond?  shocking huh? yeah I write what I think and I am very interested in their bond actually, since it’s a dark unhealthy one, completely unbalanced, just like I’m interested in Nar very much when he’s not idealized, cause he’s much more complex and interesting with his dark side.

Every episode shows Nar’s lack of care and empathy, his inner violence and selfishness, but they also are justified somehow. I can understand why, since his childhood made him self-centered and lacking the ability to interact with people on an equal basis, basically he never grew up for real, he acted like a grown up person but he remained a child inside, a possessive child who wants something and then discards it. And it shows whenever he ‘saves’ someone with his TnJ, this someone becomes his ‘friend’, loyal to him forever, and he moves on to ‘save’ someone else, all the while having Sasuke as his ultimate goal. Too bad that after he saves him too, he discards him as well. Not as much as the other cause Sasuke is special to him, but not as an equal either. I won’t mention the jail moment while Naru is basking in his popularity cause some don’t see it as canon, but when in the manga Sasuke is leaving Konoha and stumbles on Nar he says he didn’t think the other would come greet him. This shows how their relationship isn’t so amazing, since one would imagine that Nar would be 24/7 with Sasuke after he comes back.

So, all these moments show a clear picture of him as a possessive and selfish person who only ‘cares’ about ppl because he wants to be ‘loved’ (=admired and respected and aknowledged as the best) by said ppl, and whose ‘love’ for Sasuke is possessive and obsessive to an extreme point, a desire to be aknowledged and respected but also to submit the one whom he most ‘loves’, because there is no equality in the way Nar sees himself and the rest of the world, including ‘his’ ‘best friend’.

Okay so I just reblogged a thing talking about season 2 and 3 of Cobra Kai and I have some Thoughts about what they did to everyone’s character arcs in this so if you’d like a rant it’s under the cut with spoilers from all 3 seasons plus spoilers for all 3 Karate Kid movies

Okay so my issues start with one very key scene that I personally think fucked up the whole rest of the narrative, and by extension everyone else’s character arcs: which is from Different but Same. And no not that scene- not yet at least.

The first scene that I think fucked over the narrative and killed several character arcs was the beach scene. Miguel, reasonably distraught over the idea that Sam is hiding him from her dad(which she is actually doing to be fair), gets completely drunk and when Sam and Robby arrive together he loses it, pushes Sam and subsequently gets dumped. Now why do I think this ruined everything? It completely goes against Miguel’s character up to this point. Miguel is absolutely trying to mimic Johnny in a lot of key ways but also up to this point Miguel has also been Johnny’s conscience; he’s smart and kind and had not at all shown to be anything even close to what Johnny was in KK1. He’s stood up for his friends, defended the girl he likes from bullies, he’s a huge mama’s boy and a bit of a hopeless romantic. In no episode up until that point does he ever display any tendency towards unnecessary violence, despite Johnny’s “strike first” motto. Miguel getting wasted and violent does not add up in my mind. Miguel is supposed to be a narrative parallel to Daniel for fuck sake. Also, and this is my main complaint, there is no fucking reason for Miguel to immediately jump to the conclusion that Sam is seeing Robby- literally none. They look very much alike, hell Robby looks a little like Amanda honestly, he could very well be her cousin for all Miguel knows. Robby and Sam don’t even act like a couple in the shot- they’re literally just sitting next to each other at family dinner. None of this subplot makes any fucking sense.

And then, obviously, there’s the very next scene- Johnny goes with Daniel back to his place, tipsy and happy and seemingly in a very good place with each other. Then Robby shows up, Johnny loses his shit and Daniel proceeds to get pissed and kick Robby out. Now there is one thing I point out about this scene whenever I talk about it that doesn’t add up: no where in this scene is it ever even implied that either Johnny or Daniel know about Robby’s original intentions. (Also nothing up till that point ever even establishes why Robby knows about Daniel and Johnny’s rivalry in the first fucking place for the record). There is no reason for Johnny to suspect that Daniel knew and was hiding it, or even that Robby was doing it on purpose, and there is no reason for Daniel to get mad or even suspect that Robby knew what he was doing or was lying about it; and the fact of the matter is that Robby never actually lied(also Daniel never fucking asked) about his home situation. His mom was neglectful and an addict, and his father wasn’t in the picture. That’s it, and none of that was a lie. Now I’m not sitting here and denying that what Robby did was wrong because it absolutely was-- it was manipulative and unfair to Daniel and he had a right to be angry when he found out it was the case but there is nothing to suggest that he didn’t just jump to conclusions. And also, personally, I don’t think any of that justifies kicking a teenager to the curb, and one that Daniel explicitly knows has no one and nothing to fall back on. Be angry, be furious with Robby, but leaving a teenager to fend for themselves is cruel and completely unjustifiable behavior from a grown ass adult(also there’s a whole can of worms involved in Daniel never trying to figure out where the fuck Robby’s parents are and letting him live there without an explanation but that’s for a different rant).

Now assume none of that weird subplot happens, there is another way to have the Robby and Miguel rivalry that would have made so much more fucking sense and it only hinges on one fucking thing- Robby enters the tournament. It could be with or without Daniel’s approval(maybe even with a KK3 parallel, but Daniel honestly seems pretty into the tournament these days so he’d probably be down for Robby joining and reping Miyagi-do), but all we need is for him to do it.  Robby gets there, and Johnny sees him, potentially rocking a Miyagi-do gi and can have his surprised/hurt moment with him and Daniel, even potentially a confrontation between them. We can also still have Miguel beating Robby in the tournament and having Johnny be conflicted about his son losing. Hawk can even still hurt him and give Johnny his “holy shit this is wrong” epiphany and Miguel not understanding why Johnny wants him to go easy on Robby. Robby can still be hurt and upset by thinking Johnny cares more about Miguel after he loses.

Okay now as for season 2? Assuming everything stays the same in season 1, I have one MAJOR complaint. Robby becoming Sam’s love interest; and no it’s not because I think Miguel and Sam should be an endgame couple when the show is over(I do but that’s beside the point) but because it turns Sam into a plot device. This carries over into season 3 where she starts dating Miguel again and apparently just never breaks it off with Robby which is such a dick move I can not for the life of me imagine Sam of all fucking people doing it. She isn’t perfect by any means but she’s also outspoken and and much more confident by that point and should not have had a problem breaking up with someone in an email. But I digress, back to season 2- the moment I saw that Sam and Robby were going to be a couple I immediately knew the writers fucked up. There was no build up for it, nothing in season 1 to foreshadow this as a possibility(Different but Same doesn’t count because that was a whiplash of an episode) and they just decided offhandedly to put her in the middle of Robby’s and Miguel’s rivalry. There was no reason to make them a couple other than to fuck with Miguel and set up the Tory & Sam rivalry which could have happened fucking anyway with the shit at the country club, the rift between Sam and Aisha, and Miguel’s ongoing feelings for Sam even after he’s dating Tory(also a dick move what the fuck Miguel??). Adding Robby as fuel to the fire was super unnecessary and all it did was set up the clusterfuck that was the season 2 finale.

And OH BOY was that finale a clusterfuck. First of all, as a prelude- Fuck. Daniel. He pulled the exact same shit as in season 1 with dumping Robby the second he does anything even a little bit wrong. But also, as a gut punch, Robby didn’t actually do anything wrong. What was he supposed to do at the party? He couldn’t stop Sam from drinking even though he wanted to, it was her (very poor) choice. But he did what he could, he kept an eye on her, and when the cops showed up, he didn’t just leave her, he put her in the car and drove her somewhere he thought she’d be safe without having to immediately face her father(who super fucking overreacted btw) while she was recovering. This scene, which could have been an excellent bonding moment for Johnny and Robby, and an introduction to Sam getting to know Johnny outside of her father’s influence, was turned into a brawl for no fucking reason. 

Which leads me to the school fight. And right off the bat I’ve got to say this; even as, and maybe especially as, a person who has written post season 3 fix it fics, there is no way for Robby and Miguel to convincingly fix what happened in the season 2 finale. Yes, what Robby did was absolutely an accident and he has already done his time for it. But the elephant in the room is this: Miguel could have died. Or at the very least, been totally paralyzed. There is not a good way to come back from that. They will always have that hanging over their heads, even if they somehow reach an understanding. And I know someone is going to try and make the argument about that being a parallel to Johnny and Daniel in KK1, but if it is that it’s a terrible parallel. What Johnny did was supremely fucked up and I won’t deny that, especially with the Halloween scene and Daniel’s knee in the tournament(which actually was technically more Bobby’s doing, but I digress), but it was never “almost permanently disable/kill someone” bad. (Again there’s a whole can of worms to open about the shit with Chozen and Daniel’s seemingly pretty easy forgiveness of a man who tried to kill him because what the fuck?? But again that’s another rant.) But the writers wanted to push the envelope so now Johnny will always have the tug of war of choosing Robby, who he loves but who also really fucked up, and Miguel, who was the original reason for the rivalry in the first place but who was also the one who, again, almost died because of his son, even if he somehow fixes his relationship with both. It will always be “why did you pick him over me?” and Johnny will never have a good enough answer for either of them. And finally the big complaint- Johnny completely regressing in season 3. Season 3 honestly felt like a rehashing of season 1 because we literally had to see him progress in his arc all over again from square fucking one. He still isn’t there for Robby, he’s still fucking up things with Miguel and his family, he’s still fucking up his relationship with Daniel, he still chooses to miss his appointment with Robby to see Miguel(who would have been there after the appointment and he could have seen him then), he abandons half of his fucking students to fend for themselves and leaves the other half with a man he knows is a dangerous psychopath. And yes we get the cool scene at the end of December 19, but is it worth it?? I’m genuinely asking because, as much as I love that scene, I really don’t believe it is.(edit: Also fuck that whole subplot with Eli and Demetri- you don’t get to just break the arm of the boy who was your best friend and just have that go away with no repercussions. Fuck. That. I hope Demetri gets at minimum an actual on screen apology, and hopefully Eli actually trying to make amends.)

We could have still had the big team up- have Johnny admit to Daniel that he’s fucked up and tell him everything that’s happening with Kreese. Have them join forces to defeat Kreese in the tournament. Have the dumb fucking bet. Introduce Terry Silver in season 4. Have Johnny’s and Daniel’s tenuous truce strained at every turn because they’re idiots. Do all of it. But y’know what? We could have had all of that- all of it- without it being at the expense of at least 2 character arcs; Johnny’s and also Robby’s.

Also before I end this I just have to add- nothing and I mean nothing will ever redeem Kreese or Silver for me. I do not give a singular shit about either of their tragic backstories, I just don’t. I get why and how Chozen got his redemption- he was a teenager when that shit happened, and while the shit he pulled is personally unforgivable in my opinion, he has actively been trying to redeem himself by spending the last however many decades making it up to his community. I’d even understand a Barnes redemption to an extent, even though I wouldn’t accept it, because he was also very young and being manipulated by, again, a dangerous psychopath. But Kreese and Silver? Abso-fucking-lutely not. They were two grown ass adults who purposefully targeted an 18 year old and put him through emotional and physical for weeks, paid someone to intimidate him through both threats of physical violence but also through vandalism, and gaslighted him and isolated him from the only family he had at the time because he beat them in a children’s karate competition. Look, I’m not sorry, I don’t give a fuck about Kreese’s tragic backstory, nothing about what Kreese has done can be rationalized by just saying “oh his mom and girlfriend died and he was in ‘Nam”. And any good thing he does for Tory, or even Robby, does not balance out all the harm he has caused. Silver is even less redeemable- I don’t care that he almost died in war, I’m an army brat I know plenty of people who almost died and don’t act like this. In canon we have evidence of him being completely, unrepentantly evil- the first scene with him in it has him basically confirmed as the BP of nuclear waste, he pays people so he can beat them up, he’s been personally funding Kreese’s child indoctrination classes. They could pull out the saddest backstory for him possible and I would not give a shit. And that’s fine. We don’t need every bad guy to have a tragic backstory- sometimes an evil villain can just be an evil villain for no reason, not all of them need a traumatic turning point that the authors shove in to make the audience sympathize with them. So please, writers, stop trying to make me feel sorry for them because I really don’t and I don’t understand anyone who does.

Horikoshi’s writing of Shouto and the problems I have with it

If you’re a fan of the way Shouto’s treated in the manga, don’t read, we’ll end up disagreeing on everything and you’ll probably end up offended lol. Because I’m not (satisfied, that is). 

This post is spoiler-heavy for anime onlys, and for manga readers not up to date with the last arc (and last chapter for that matter, which is 301).

So, about Shouto and how he’s handled, along with ‘his’ story.

I don’t get how Horikoshi, whose writing I respect immensely, managed to depict such an incredible and alluring storyline with the Todoroki family, with some of the most complex character writing I’ve seen, but fumbled the one character he had to actually focus on.

Literally more than half the people in the Todoroki storyline are more interesting and more developed than Shouto at this point. Hawks, Endeavour, Dabi, Rei… a good bunch of fans are way more invested in their story than his, and I am too. It’s really sad, because if you asked me two years ago Shouto would have probably been one of my favorite character. But he was completely shafted, given no internal conflict, and at this point, I have the same interest in him as I do for Fuyumi and Natsuo, which basically means his only interesting feature to me is that he’s Endeavour’s child (oh, and he does have a cool design, but that can only get you so far).  

Deku and Katsuki are more popular than him by a landslide compared to before if we believe the Japanese popularity polls, because Hori actually bothers to give them focus, conflict, and cool moments (even though, sometimes I feel like Horikoshi forgets Deku’s his main character lol). It’s a testament to how great Shouto was and how much potential had that he’s still that popular despite everything. Because, let’s be real, Endeavour and Dabi have taken the focus because they have much more emotional energy, while Shouto is just stuck in the crossfire, as a punching ball and stress relief (and eventually as the person who’ll save him I guess) for Touya (see how he was relegated to first aid during the big fight against Tomura? how he did absolutely nothing against Touya who was burning him alive? And how Touya had no interest in Shouto outside of the fact he was Endeavour’s son? Story of the way Hori treats him). He has no particular interesting insight to give on the Todoroki family either as he was too small to remember the important events, so even on this point we can’t count on Horikoshi to write something for him, everything comes from Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Rei. He's really had one great moment in S2 and S3 and that’s it. The way Horikoshi struggles to give him a personality doesn’t help either (he admitted some time ago he was hard to write sometimes, and… yeah, I can see that).  I’m really trying to like his character but the manga gives us nothing, and keeps developing Endeavour, Dabi, and Hawks, which is great (I really love all three of them) but makes no sense given who’s supposed to be the main focus.

In the Endeavour agency arc, Endeavour’s thoughts and struggles were heavily touched upon, and Bakugou and Deku are in sync for 90% of it while Shouto’s just… there. as fodder for Endeavour, and maybe as a link between Endeavour and Bakugou/Deku too. He’s supposed to be a part of both these storylines, but instead, he just ends up as a way for them to overlap. we don't even take a peek in his thoughts, even though it's supposed to be an arc about the Todorokis!

I say all this as someone who eagerly waited for the day Horikoshi would portray Shouto, Katsuki, and Deku as a trio, but yeah, Shouto feels more like a third wheel than anything. if he wanted to establish them that way, he should have done it right after the sports festival arc, but after this arc, they have no scene together, and the focus shifted on Deku and Katsuki. Too little too late I guess.  

To come back to the Todoroki storyline, I feel like Horikoshi simply woke up one day and decided Endeavour was more interesting to write lmao. at this point, it’s more Endeavour’s storyline than Shouto’s, even though Shouto’s supposedly one of the main characters. it has come to a point where, even though I know it ought to focus on Shouto because he’s (at least he should be) the main focus of this particular storyline, I’m hoping it won’t, because that’s just the least interesting aspect of this whole thing.  

I’d say even Ochako’s treated better by the story, because at least Horikoshi tries to challenge her views and beliefs (even though for now it’s not very conclusive), while Shouto’s inner growth hasn't been put into question in how many chapters?

(btw, by inner growth, I’m not talking about his problem with his fire side, because that’s just been rinse and repeat for more than 200 chapters. I mean, srsly it’s been already 3 times since this problem has caused him to lose/fail... and it's not even satisfying like Katsuki or Deku (except for the first time in the sport festival, because that was when his character was still handled very well by Horikoshi). Why? Simply because when he loses, the stakes aren’t high, it’s all training or exams, so he’s just like, "oh, I have to maybe learn how to deal with it!", but there’s no real pressure he’s under. It’s not like Deku, who, if he does not progress, will break all his bones, and who failed to rescue Katsuki because of his broken arms (=and had a mental breakdown immediately afterwards and blamed himself). It’s not like Katsuki either, because Katsuki has a personality that makes low stakes feel like high stakes, which isn’t the case for Shouto. just compare Shouto's reaction when he loses because of his setbacks to Katsuki's reaction when he lost to Deku the first time (mental breakdown), or when Katsuki failed the provisional license exam (another mental breakdown, not caused just by his failing, but yeah). And anything else about Shouto's inner growth is tied to his reaction to Endeavour’s arc, which isn’t a flaw, and 100% depends on the way Endeavour acts. Apart from this, he has 0 internal conflict).  

Sorry, I’ve gone off on a tangent lol.

To get back to the point I was making, and to further develop my analogy with Ochako, let’s look at their relationship with Deku, because there’s a major difference there, which is clearly in favor of Ochako.  Deku has a big impact on Ochako, yes, but the reverse is also true. People complain she’s all about him (which, yeah, probably), but at least, she made a big impact on him too. She was the main reason ‘Deku' became his hero name. Shouto and Deku have a nice friendship, and Deku clearly considers him one of his best friends. but... it’s all one-sided in terms of impact, I can’t think of a single thing Shouto has done who changed/motivated Deku, while Deku literally changed his life. Because of this, he’s not one of the people who’s intrinsically tied to Deku’s character development, because he’s not Ochako, Inko, Katsuki or All Might (and probably soon Tomura).

His writing feels so fast compared to the others too. Shigaraki / Deku and Toga / Ochako have been paralleled for ages, have had a conversation at least once, and have had deep encounters early on. Nonetheless, both Deku and Ochako are just coming to terms with the fact these villains aren’t so different from them. However, Shouto’s only interaction with Dabi is a ten second eye contact when Dabi kidnapped Katsuki. Dabi had more interactions with Endeavour for fuck's sake! Shouto then learns Dabi’s Touya, and speed runs the development of Ochako and Deku. He doesn’t even need 10 chapters to process they’re ’the same'. Where were all the reflection and doubts? Okay, it’s his brother, so the parallels are easier, but still, it shows Horikoshi doesn’t allow Shouto to have that much introspection, and I feel it’s because Horikoshi just doesn’t care that much. Even worse! Horikoshi introduces another hero parallel to Dabi in the character of Hawks. A parallel much more interesting and compelling, because it parallels Dabi MUCH BETTER. They’re opposites in every ways (particularly in regards to their relationship with Endeavor), and know each other. Touya and Shouto don’t even seem to have spoken to each other...

And so, the only thing that still was interesting and that Horikoshi still bothered to develop was Shouto’s relationship with Endeavour, but in the end, even that was overshadowed by the much more complex, fucked up, and challenging relationships of Endeavour and Touya (and Endeavour and Hawks) as seen in 301 and before. Clearly the one Dabi’s fixated on is Endeavour.

one last thing: Shouto's stuck in a weird loop where Horikoshi kind of makes him comes close of the Bakugou and Deku duo, and then when we start to think they’re an actual trio, he does everything in his power to make it very clear how that’s NOT where he belongs either, since OFA/All Might/Deku/Katsuki is another storyline. It’s as if Horikoshi doesn’t want him here (see: how he decided the ‘win all might’ scene didn’t have to include him), but puts him there sometimes anyway. It’s probably because Shouto’s so popular, which, yeah, would be fine, if he could stick to it!

His supposed admiration for All Might (I feel like everybody forgets it's a part of his character, and I don't blame them) is brought up once every blue moon, which compared to Deku and Katsuki, is just ridiculous. And, once again, All Might has a much deeper and more interesting relationship with Endeavour than with Shouto. At this point, I don’t even know what Hori could do to make me want to read about him. I much prefer the dynamic of Hawks/Endeavour/Touya and Katsuki/Deku/All Might.

I hope the future will prove me wrong for his character. Actually, I hope everything I’m saying is wrong and idiotic, and Horikoshi will make every scene I criticized worth it and a means to an end. I mean, he clearly has the talent and writing ability to pull off some of the best character development I’ve ever seen, so anything’s possible. but yeah, I don’t really believe it for now, and I’m frustrated, because Shouto had so much potential.

tldr; I liked Shouto as a character, but he dwindled after some time, and now I feel as if he’s not the focus of his own storyline, because this place is occupied by the much more dynamic relationships of Endeavour, Touya and Hawks. And I’m not even mad, because their dynamic is much more interesting. However, I feel like Horikoshi grew bored of Shouto, and has put much more soul into Katsuki and Deku as of late.

I’m welcoming any responses, if people are seeing an aspect of his character I don’t, please enlighten me! I miss enjoying his character, and I’m not opposed to seeing him in a different light. I just needed to put down my thoughts in writing to make sense of them lol.

death isn't always simple. not always a single bullet, lucky knife to the chest, or even a clean hit to the head. sometimes it was ugly, and oh how this one was. she'd been left for him to find, body most likely cold by time he arrived. a warning some might call it. a suicide request to others. to go after the virus's ' lover ' ( a title some truly couldn't understand because how could something not even human find love ) was a sure fire way to meet death in a matter of days- if they were lucky to last that long.

she's left in a pool of blood. body was... in poor state- most bones visibly broken, crushed and protruding from body. face was bruised, the blood dried, yet in a way that appeared to be tear like in the way it had fallen down her cheeks. the jacket she'd normally have worn- the one alex had given her- was no where to be found. usually that would have protected her. why? because alex was always keeping her safe even when he wasn't there. such a shame she'd chosen today of all days not to wear it; that or she'd forgotten it in her rush to leave home that day.

in hand was a crumpled picture, one she'd forced him to take years back. around the time things finally became real for them. after the uphill struggle their entire relationship had been during the first year or two. image was of her thrown over his shoulders, arms wrapped tightly 'round. a large smile, sparkling eyes- bliss to say the least, written across face. he, of course being alex, looked bored. however, body language spoke enough for her to know he'd been content with the picture and pose. no longer was it pristine, the only blemish a ripped edge after getting caught one day. now, it was coated in blood, dirt, and perhaps dried tears.

loni was dead, truly. left to rot and for alex to find.

    for  the  first  time  in  weeks,  alex  stood  entirely  still.

    it  wasn’t  that  he  needed  rest;  he  had  trekked  mountains,  cleared  floor  after  bloody  floor  of  skyscrapers,  jumped  into  canyons  because  it  was  fun,  but  this?  a  crowded  scene,  police  sirens  &  yellow  tape,  detectives  hunched  over  &  collecting  samples;  an  overturned  bike,  blacks  &  smooth  silvers  scratched  &  splintered  throughout  the  street,  dented  license  plates  flashing  familiar  digits,  chillingly  familiar.  if  the  model  &  color  weren’t  to  arise  dread,  the  license  would,  &  even  the  densest  moron  on  the  planet  couldn’t  deny  the  strands  of  hair  &  blood  scattered  throughout  the  sidewalk.    

    this  was  an  abduction.

    the  sight  chilled  him  to  his  core,  internal  mass  writhing  &  coiling  into  itself,  his  arms  bulging  with  the  need  to  explode  out  &  hit  something;  he  wanted  to  yell  at  someone,  but  wearing  the  skin  of  captain  leland  matthews  had  granted  him  unrestricted  access  to  the  scene,  &  he  couldn’t  afford  to  let  anyone  know  he  was  in  town  or  risk  loni’s  abductors  pulling  something  rash.  captain  leland  would  not  snap  under  pressure,  captain  leland  would  not  turn  around  &  pulverize  the  mass  of  onlookers  whispering  &  talking  &  flooding  his  head  with  nonsense  while  he  needed  to  think,  to  act!

    he  just  needed  to  think.  panic  would  do  him  no  good,  &  the  viral  abomination  had  appearances  to  keep.  for  now,  he  had  to  force  his  arms  to  steady,  to  embrace  the  cold  brewing  inside  &  to  keep  up  appearances  while  he  still  had  them.  he  needed  to  study  the  scene,  &  turn  his  claws  on  whoever  was  responsible.  in time. 

    there  was  no  fight,  no  bodies,  no  pools  of  foreign  blood  littering  the  scene.  she  hadn’t  a  chance  to  fight  back,  hadn’t  dropped  legions  of  her  enemies  before  being  dragged  away,  kicking  &  screaming.  whoever  did  this  knew  exactly  what  they  were  doing,  &  hit  her  hard  &  fast.  she  didn’t  have  many  rivals  with  that  sort  of  firepower,  much  less  the  restraint  to  avoid  putting  on  a  show.  mob  bosses  &  supernatural  criminals  were  an  egotistical  sort,  they  liked  to  send  flashy  messages.  even  loni  didn’t  have  half  a  mind  to  restrain  herself  when  she  had  a  point  to  prove:  the  bigger  she  rose,  the  bigger  the  ego,  try  as  she  may  to  hide  it.

    she  must’ve  sent  the  wrong  message  to  the  wrong  crew.  they  had  to  have  hired  someone  strong  or  persistent,  someone  clean;  scene  aside,  it  couldn’t  be  traced  conventionally.  it  looked  like  she’d  been  hit  by  a  bus,  yet  the  only  trail  present  in  the  mess  was  vague,  microscopic.  blood  droplets  &  sweat  which  could  only  be  picked  up  by  his  extra  senses,  &  a  scent  which  was  quickly  being  masked  by  the  spread  of  onlookers  clouding  the  area  with  their  aromas.  his  eyes  glanced  upwards,  hoping  there  was  a  cctv  camera  around:  nothing,  all  destroyed  by...  something.  something  small,  something  odd,  something  which  had residue  on  the  rooftops.

     interesting.

    captain  matthews  had  to  excuse  himself;  slipping  away  through  the  crowd,  pushing  through  the  cameras  &  questions  with  more  force  than  necessary,  ignoring  the  cries  of  offense  &  pain  all  the  while  he  made  for  the  alleys,  following  that  very  trail  to  the  top  of  the  nearby  buildings.  what  he  found  at  the  top  was  chilling:  two  craters,  spaced  evenly  apart,  as  though  something  heavy  &  large  landed  there.  either  loni  were  abducted  by  a  multi-ton  rottingtaur,  or  something  interesting  was  in  manhattan.

     dropping  his  disguise,  he  leapt  between  the  rooftops  until  he  could  find  a  matching  set,  &  lept  around  again  until  he  found  another.  it  took  about  ten  minutes  to  find  the  trail:  craters  marking  northeast,  distanced  several  blocks  each.  it  would’ve  been  difficult  for  anything  he  were  aware  of  to  make  those  jumps  without  wings,  which  would  have  mitigated  the  damage  to  the  rooftops  if  present.  anything  barring  himself,  of  course.

    yet...  no,  that  was  impossible.  alarming.  thoughts  he  couldn’t  help  but  consider.  blackwatch  was  gone,  the  virus  only  existed  in  himself,  any  traces  of  it  were  destroyed.  he’d  know  if  redlight  or  blacklight  produced  something  in  his  city,  the  hive  mind  would  alert  him  to  it!  something  else  had  to  be  happening,  some  demon  or  bullshit  ritual:  something  in  this  stupid  supernatural  world  had  to  be  behind  this,  &  he  was  going  to  rip  it  to  pieces  when  he  found  it!

    so  he  ran,  he  lept,  he  slammed  into  buildings  &  shook  their  foundations  with  each  dash,  rocketing  through  the  air  like  a  living  cannonball  spurred  with  the  intent  of  an  arrow.  the  air  cracked  &  shifted  as  he  passed  through  it,  the  city  becoming  a  nondescript  haze  beside  him  as  he  soared,  his  hawk-like  gaze  fixated  on  the  next  building,  the  next  piece  in  this  fucked  up  puzzle  until,  nothing. 

    the  trail  reached  a  dead  end.  a  warehouse  in  the  lower  east  side.  a  thermal  scan  showed  nothing,  no  heat,  no  machines,  no  guards.  not  even  a  live  captive,  but...  something  was  wrong.  he  could  see  something  in  the  window,  right  in  the  center  of  the  warehouse;  everything  cleared  save  for  that  speck  in  the  darkness.  eyes  narrowed  at  it,  a  familiar  splotch  of  color  as  a  ray  of  moonlight  bounced  off  a  billboard.  it  looked  like  a  body.  this  had  to  be  a  trap,  but  alex  couldn’t  waste  any  more  time.  

    leaping  in  through  the  skylights,  showering  glass  all  over  the  concrete  floor,  alex  made  his  entrance;  claws  ready  &  eyes  sharp.  yet  there  was  nothing  here,  just  himself,  a  bloody  floor  &  a  crumpled  mess  of  a  corpse:  a  woman,  nearly  flattened,  with  bones  splintering  out  of  her  limbs,  chest  dented  into  itself,  laying  in  a  crater  filled  with  drying  blood.

    alex  took  a  step  forward, mouth agape.

    her  eyes,  those  usually  warm,  oaken  eyes  were  glassed  over  &  empty,  only  the  light  of  the  moon  present  in  them.  she  could  usually  brighten  the  room  with  those  eyes,  warm  even  the  densest  viral  monstrosity  to  his  core  with  a  glance,  though  he  rarely  showed  it.  why  had  he  never  showed  her?

    alex  took  another  step  forward,  trembling.

    her  hair,  usually  long  &  flowing,  looked  like  it  was  ripped  off  her  scalp  &  left  in  shreds:  what  little  remained  on  her  head   was  thrown  around  her  body  in  a  rage.  he  noticed  some  of  it  was  spread  around  the  room,  &  her  scent  flooded  his  senses  as  a  result.  he  could  smell  only  her,  &  blood;  her  blood,  splattered  around  the  room  in  a  gory  mess.  it  intoxicated  him  in  the  worst  ways,  filling  the  monster  with  a  rage  which  shook  him  to  his  very  core.

    alex  took  no  more  steps.  the  room  moved  for  him.

    trembling,  creaking  as  tendrils  from  his  legs  seeped  into  the  foundation  &  took  root:  twisted  vines  of  flesh  splitting  &  emerging  haphazardly  in  the  concrete  around  him,  his  body  unable  to  keep  itself  contained  as  a  pressure  built  within  itself.  his  cool  eyes  disappeared  alongside  his  features  as  his  body  became  more  of  a  human-shaped  coil  of  tendrils,  licking  &  hissing  at  the  air  around  him.  they  spread  everywhere,  from  the  steel  beams  to  the  catwalks,  strangling  this  warehouse  at  the  foundations:  alex’s  hate-filled  mass  going  everywhere.

    a  sound  escaped  him,  hollow  &  reverberating  unnaturally  in  the  air:  more  grief  &  pain  than  anything  remotely  human.  his  tendrils  thrashed,  splintering  the  concrete  &  twisting  the  beams,  the  building  itself  groaning  &  coming  apart  by  the  rivet,  his  agony  growing  by  the  moment,  moans  turning  to  screams  which  cracked  the  glass.  the  skywalks  caved  in,  light  fixtures  &  glass  falling  around  him.  not  a  shard,  not  a  rock  dared  touch  her  body,  for  his  tendrils  formed  a  shell  around  her,  his  angel,  his  hard-headed,  stupid  angel.  not  even  as  the  building  crashed  &  collapsed  beneath  the  strain  did  she  take  another  scratch.

    oh,  loni.

    amid  the  rubble  he  stood,  body  pristine,  not  a  fleck  of  dust  touched  it  after  he  reformed  himself.  his  eyes  were  emptier  than  usual  as  they  stared  at  what  used  to  be  loni  valadian,  the  image  of  her  fate  forever  burning  itself  into  his  mind,  which  even  now  raged  with  the  specters  of  his  sin:  judging  his  failure  to  protect  her,  cursing  their  fates,  screaming  to  just  die.  even  as  he  grieved  his  greatest  love,  he  received  no  respite.  for  what  did  a  monster  deserve,  if  not  agony  unending?

    mercer  ground  his  fists  together,  clenching  his  teeth.  it  didn’t  make  any  sense,  how  did  this  happen?  who  did  this?  they  were  supposed  to  have  time,  centuries!  how  could  he  let  this  happen?  why  didn’t  he  protect  her?  he  could  feel  the  legion  of  devoured  blackwatch  operatives  laughing  at  his  plight,  the  closest  thing  to  a  break  they’d  get  in  their  hells.  but  his  hell  had  just  begun  anew.

    as  did  the  hell  he  intended  to  bring  upon  whoever  did  this.

    kneeling  before  her,  he  tried  to  scoop  loni’s  flattened  body  from  the  concrete,  tendrils  digging  into  the  ground  to  peel  her  body  from  it.  so  much  of  her  was  gone,  there  was  practically  nothing  solid  left  in  her.  all  these  years,  all  their  fighting,  their  growth,  reduced  to  this:  a  ruined  building  &  a  body  hardly  resembling  a  full  human.  what  had  she  done  to  deserve  this?  a  life  of  nightmares  ended  with  a  bludgeoning.  

    as  he  finally  peeled  what  remained  of  her  from  the  floor,  alex’s  eyes  caught  something.  not  a  note  or  clue,  but  something  which  had  suspiciously  survived  this  wreck.  eyes  narrowed  at  the  paper  still  clutched  in  her  pulped  hand  before  softening  as he caught  the  photo.  he’d  nearly  dropped  her  when  he  saw  it.

    of  course,  she’d  kept  it.

    of  course.

    he’d  have  to  tell  ivan  about  this,  &  the  others.  fuck.

    glancing  at  her  face  one  last  time,  something  else  caught  his  attention.  a  sensation  he’d  hadn’t  felt  in  years.  a  nagging  buzz  in  the  back  of  his  mind,  something  which  had  been  silent  for  years.  the  hive  was  active,  a  buzz  in  the  night,  but  it  was  masked,  intelligently  so.  this  wasn’t  blackwatch,  this  wasn’t  a  straggling  infected  which  had  been  buried  in  the  cement,  this  was  intelligent.  not  too  unlike  himself,  but  too  different  to  call  out  to.  it  felt  his  mind,  &  panicked,  floating  away.  but  it  was  there.  he  remembered  it.

    the  parasite.

    the supreme hunter.

    it  was  alive,  it  did  this.  it  killed  loni.

    tendrils  writhed  along  his  back.  a  growl  rising  in  his  throat.

    he  didn’t  know  how  it  had  survived,  or  how  it  avoided  detection  for  so  long,  but  it  was  going  to  regret  being  made.  it  was  going  to  regret  coming  back  to  life.  but  first  thing’s  first,  he  had  a  burial  to  plan.

Whew...a LOT! :’D Specifically, 3 separate things at once: new movie, s5 starting, and the manga entering its ‘final act.’

Today we got the trailer for the 3rd movie: World Heroes Mission. Which you might’ve seen from those new stealth hero suit designs for the main trio. Apparently it looks like an undercover, abroad internship (with some scenes in San Francisco?) the students take with Endeavor & Hawks. But then there’s the bit about Deku being framed for ‘mass murder’ which is another !?!? Unsure about what all that means, but it looks exciting & interesting.

Next, today was also the first episode of season 5. Which mainly features a lighthearted, anime-original school drill (vs ‘villains’ attacking) to get previous viewers up to speed. But it also shows the manga content left on a cliffhanger from last season to continue the actual story (about Endeavor, Hawks, and Dabi) so the episode isn’t entirely skippable and worth watching, imo. :O

...Which both feel sort of like whiplash if you’ve been following the manga. Hero society collapse following the wake and fallout of the war arc. With many casualties on both sides (yes, even one of their teachers died) and some of the worst criminals (including AfO’s original body) have broken out of prison, forcing civilians to take vigilante matters into their own hands, since many have given up on relying on heroes who’ve failed to protect them in all this chaos. (With the surviving top heroes, Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist, forced to pick up the pieces, take responsibility, and face the worst of the civilians’ grievances.)

Meanwhile the students have entered their 2nd year, but Deku had been in a coma following the battle (talking with OfA’s predecessors in his mind over his resolve to confront Shiggy).......only to suddenly wake with the decision to drop out & leave school to ‘protect’ everyone. O.O Leaving us with no other explanation other than a goodbye letter he left for his classmates, where he finally confessed about OfA and how AfO & Shiggy were after him. (So yes, many readers are rightly shocked and outraged at this sudden, unpredictable turn of events, labeled as the beginning of the ‘final act.’) Cause for now, we’ve yet to understand what Deku’s thinking, and we never got any reactions from his closest friends & family over this either. (Inko? All Might? Kacchan? Todoroki? Iida? None whatsoever, except Uraraka’s pov dismissed and thanked as just another classmate.) Deku’s wearing his bloodied, tattered suit and Gran Torino’s cape leftover from the battle too, with no answer whether Gran Torino’s kicked the bucket before Deku left either. There’s so many unanswered questions and important points left unresolved to prolong the angst, that seeing s5′s fun & happy content adapted just feels tonally weird in contrast. Because what s5′s marketing looks to be the last ‘lighthearted’ school arc we’ll probably ever see, so enjoy it while it lasts... :’))

Omg the nightwing red hood fight already got me so stressed lol. It looks great but ahh angst! But I think Jason is like 19ish in most versions when he comes back? Though tbh I forgot what age Jason is in this , I’ll have to see when i rewatch it soon. Curran, the actor, is actually 23, he just looks super young/short. He got pretty buff though. But yeah, that is an unfortunate thing wi the them rushing it already but also, I’d rather have it like this than if they were gonna spread it out through the seasons then it gets cancelled or something (poor Gotham s5, RIP). I think he was the PERFECT robin jason Todd though. Like I love his acting and portrayal of Jason(“Titans are back bitches!” classic Jason), he just is young looking and short. Gosh I still wanna know if they are going with the Lazarus pit for Jason or not! But like that also begs the question of whether they are doing a time skip cause normally Jason is dead for like 2-3ish years, but it doesn’t look like it from the trailer.

And yes, I’ve been looking forwards to Tim!!! While the trailer didn’t show it, the actor was on set a lot over these last couple of months (I’ve been keeping up with their instagrams xD) and seemed super close with the cast! I can’t believe the first look we got if Tim was him nearly crying, though that look already won me over, I love him and he is my son now. But RIGHT! That’s all I want, is the bat bros platonic love, gosh dang it😭 that’s all we want DC😭

Omg I squealed at the scarecrow part omg. Dr freaking Crane is a big reason I spiraled down this entire fandom tbh. Like literally a year ago I got obsessed with him for some reason and that led into the Bat hole where I am currently WAY deeper than I ever would have thought 😂 and while I’m not hyper fixated on him anymore, I still love him so much and is my 2nd fav rogue, and it mainly started with Jonathan 🥺 we barely even see his face and I am already in love with the casting, the voice is perfect. And I LOVE when villains have to help the heroes, that is like one of my fav tropes ever omg, I was really hoping they were gonna do that to him. I hope he is in it for more than one episode tho. And oh lordy, like those poor Titans need even more trauma in their lives and now fear gas is in the equation. Oh no, I bet poor Gar is gonna get hit cause they just love to torture that poor boy. And tbh I hope the fearscapes(perfect word for it) will be better than most of the Gotham ones, those seemed a tad cheesy tbh

Evil Hollyleaf AU

Guess who made another AU?? That's right, this gal

This time it's with one of my favourite characters, Hollyleaf, so lets waste no time and get into it

In this AU everything is normal up until the fire scene, the truth comes out and Holly is beyond crushed. She spent her whole life living by the warrior code to find out not only is her existence against the warrior, but medicine cat code as well. This breaks Holly and after the fire she finds Ashfur and asks to have a talk, and discusses how she wishes to make Squirrelflights a living hell so she can pay to lying to her for so long, Ash happily agrees and so they join together, hatching their plan.

First off they decide they want to tell the truth, so agree on announcing it at the gathering. They decide Ashfur will do it while Holly sits silently. As the truth is being told and chaos ensues, Holly catches Leafpool running away, and she decides to take the next step. Holly sneaks her way into the camp and into the medicine den, and asks Leafpool to eat the berries, when Leafpool gives her speech about living is worse for her Holly informs her she isn't the one who she wants to hurt, and pins Leaf down, forcing the death berries into her mouth, running off as Squirrel enters the den, and the clan decides Leafpool took her own life out of grief. 

Holly and Ash take great pleasure in seeing their chaos they've made. They're next order of business is Firestar, Ash had gotten one of his lives before with fox traps, but Brambleclaw interrupted, but this time they'd make sure Bramble would never know, they decided to use the fox trap again and kill Firestar as many times as it takes, and that Holly will "Find Ash" and they'll get him banished. They're mission is successful, and due to Hollys loyalty, and turning Ash in, Bramble makes her deputy, even if he is still bitter over her not being his. This works perfectly for Holly.

At some point Holly falls ill and is in the medicine den for awhile, and Jayfeather enters her memories, only to find what she's being doing, and plotting. Jayfeather is horrified but Holly points out that she's his sister, they have no real parents, they were lied to. Is he really going to rat her out? This scares Jayfeather into silence, giving Holly a new scene of control and confidence knowing Jay wont speak up in fear of one of his only family leaving.

Ash and Hollys next move is starting war between Thunderclan and Windclan, tensions are high, and now is perfect, they find Crowfeather and convince him Bramble killed his long lost lover, Leafpool, this out rages Crow and he gets in a fight with Bramble, taking one of his lives and Crow loosing his own, not what the two planned but it worked perfect, not only had Squirrels ex mate lost a life, a friend had lost his only life. Holly watched silently as Bramble lost lives, and planned with Ash, only to hear the news of the great battle, and knew her next steps. In the battle Holly had 2 targets, Tawnypelt, Brambles sister and Squirrels friend,and Bramblestar. With the help of Ashfur they take down Tawny, and during the battle, Holly convinces Hawkfrost to kill Bramble with their help. Hawkfrost pretends to go to kill Holly and Bramble steps in, as he's about to attack Hawkfrost Holly and Ash pin him down, as Hawk kills his half brother, taking his last life.

As the battle ends Thunderclan realises Bramblestar is dead, and that Holly is the new leader. Jayfeather reluctantly takes his sister to the moonpool where she gets her 9 lives, and as she returns her 1st act is to rejoin Ashfur into the clan and appoint him deputy, and anyone who disagrees can leave. The clan all stays silent, though not happy. The two finally have Thuderclan, and have made Squirrleflights life a living hell, but Holly isnt done. She catches Squirrel alone at the river, and strikes, telling her how all her friends deaths are her fault, and she deserves it as she kills her. Holly drags her back crying, yowling how she attacked first, and acting broken. As she retreats to her den Ash asks if its true and Holly laughs, saying of course it wasnt, that Holly just killed her, Ash is appalled, he didn't want Squirrel to die!He threatens to tell everyone until Holly steps in front of him, reminding him that he helped her do all this, and that she would kill him next. Ash, in shock, backs down and stays silent, in fear under Hollys control. She has successfully lured her brother and deputy into silence, and no cat is of the wiser, she is the leader, and nothing can change that, and she will punish any rule breaker..

SO yeah thats my long as hell AU lol, just wanted  to make an evil Holly AU where she teams up with Ash, and accidentally turned it into her becoming full evil and scaring cats into silence of her crims

She 100% goes to the dark forest btw and dosent understand why
