[@hyah-lian requested a sickfic prompt; Far/Rabbit/Ordon down with the flu and ending up with grumpy cuddles]
****
Their tent was a miserable place to be. Rabbit stood his ground near the entrance, arguing with Smith to let him out. If it wasn't for whoever was their assigned guard at the moment, Far would've snuck out a while ago, and Ordon was likely to follow. At least he had a tent. Though company wasn't preferable, he had chosen his companions so this was who Far was stuck with.
Only Minish, the lucky thing, had managed to avoid the sickness that the other three had woken up with. They were trapped in their quarantine until they got better or the rest of the group came down with it too.
Rabbit broke into a fit of coughing, inadvertently letting Smith win. He collapsed onto his bedroll, breathing hard after it passed.
"They won't let me out," Rabbit groaned. "Not even to get some water. We're to ask for it to be brought to us."
"C'mon, we can't have everybody getting sick," Far said tiredly, and glanced at Ordon.
Far and Ordon had butted heads earlier, when they had noticed each others' predicaments. Ordon had been so overbearing that Far had been freaked out a bit, but he had retaliated by simply giving Ordon the exact same treatment. Ordon had shifted to his wolf form after his attempts to coddle Far were thwarted, and they had retreated to opposite corners of the tent.
Ordon gave a weak growl. Far gave him a lopsided grin right back.
"But I can still do things!" Rabbit protested. "Look at me, I'm fine! I'm barely sick!"
"You'll hit your fever soon enough," Far said, and Ordon huffed agreement.
Rabbit coughed again, and Far made a considering noise.
"Hey Ordon, what say we both get what we want?" Far said quietly, gesturing at Rabbit.
Ordon flicked an ear and heaved himself up. He crept behind Rabbit, who was completely unaware, and easily took his sleeve between his teeth. He gently tugged and Rabbit had no choice but to stumble over to where Far was waiting.
"Ordon, don't you dare!" Rabbit hissed as Ordon slipped behind him and shoved him into Far's arms. "Far, you're roasting, now isn't the time for cuddles-"
Far laughed softly, holding his squirming partner tight. "We're all stuck in here together, we might as well."

âLetâs settle this.â
Something I started a while ago thatâs connected to this. I decided to finish it up and fix a few things. Enjoy some boys fighting and very brief mentions/appearances of two other characters, one belonging to @tigracespace :P
â
â
Starhawk quirked a brow and lowered his roasted rabbit. He lifted his head and glared at the shorter raptor, âsettle what?â
Starstrikeâs pale blue feathers rose around the back of his neck and shoulders as his lip curled into a snarl, âI want you gone, human-soiled scum.â
âI know,â Starhawk took another bite out of his meal, chewing the meat obnoxiously loud and messily, âbut Solclave said not yet. So deal with it and focus on your sister. I figured sheâd be more of a priority for you since she apparently was returned a few weeks ago.â
The smaller raptor hissed and smacked the rabbit out of Hawkâs hands, sending it tumbling into the dirt. The black feathered raptor snapped his attention towards Strike, feathers aggressively standing on end as he got up, towering menacingly over the other raptor.
âThat is it! Iâve tried to be patient with you, Iâve tried to understand why you hate me so much, I even changed my name to be more ânormalâ like you, but Iâve put up with your shitty attitude for long enough!â
Strike sneered at the taller bird, âthe rocky clearing near the forestâs edge, tomorrow. We will finish this.â
âWeâll finish this alright,â Hawk agreed with a deep growl, flexing his wings and talons. He turned and stormed away, kicking his spoiled dinner into the bushes.
âŚ
It was easy enough for the two young birds to sneak away the next morning when Solclave went out foraging with some of the older fledglings (those who didnât need to recover from anything at least). They slipped out of the hollow at different times, taking a different route to rendezvous at the clearing Starstrike mentioned last night.
âReady to get your ass beaten, small fry?â Starhawk thumped his fist into the opposite palm (a grossly human gesture) and held his wings open, âyou know I always win our little skirmishes, thisâll be no different!â
âSure it wonât,â Strike narrowed his eyes as he glared at the other bird from the other side of the clearing. He stretched his wings, giving them a few strong flaps. To Hawk, this was just another dumb little fight.
This time, Strike had the intention of spilling blood.
The two raptors stared each other down, waiting for one to make the first move. Hawk was the first to leap from his perch, broad wings lifting him into the air as he made straight for his smaller opponent. Strike jumped from his rock as Hawk swooped down at him with his talons curled into fists. He twisted around the larger raptor and latched onto his back.
Starhawk squawked as needle claws dug past his feathers and into his skin. He hissed and shook Strike off, feeling some of his feathers rip from his skin as he did so, and started to fly up higher above the trees, Strike following after him.
Once he was satisfied with his altitude, Hawk tucked his wings in and leaned back, flipping over and diving towards Starstrike. Strike briefly flailed as he swung his talons out to grapple Hawkâs, sending the two shrieking birds spiraling in the air.
Hawk threw Strike away from himself and circled around the clearing, watching his opponent quickly right himself in the air and climb higher. However there was no way he was letting that little jerk get a height advantage on him, and quickly pursued. Starstrike then twisted and flipped around, wings and arms held tight to his body as he dive bombed towards Starhawk.
âOh, so heâs trying to copy me?â Starhawk internally scoffed and rolled his eyes, spreading his wings to slow himself and swing his legs forward and arms out, expecting the other to again grapple talons.
âHhhkng?!â The black raptor felt the wind get knocked out of him as Strike slammed full force into his chest, right over the still healing wound he sustained on his first day in the wild. He was sent crashing onto his back in the center of the clearing, kicking up dust as he lay sprawled on the ground, stunned and gasping desperately for air. That hurt.
After a few moments, he grasped at his chest and moaned as he rolled onto his side and curled up. That⌠that hurt. That really hurt! God, he could barely breathe! He couldnât breathe! âAa-haaaaahhhgnnnâŚ!â
Starhawk barely registered Strike landing nearby and walking up to him. He cracked open one eye to look up at the pale blue raptor, meeting his cold, creepy, wide-eyed stare.
âNot so different from our previous fights, right,â his lips pulled back in a strained, eerie âsmileâ of some kind, âRodreguez?â
Hawk hated how he said his name like it was some kind of nasty slur, like it meant something wrong. There was nothing wrong with it! There was nothing wrong with him! He managed to suck in a deep breath as the pain in his chest slightly subsided.
âFUCK YOU!â Starhawk kicked his legs out, keeping his talons balled into fists, and punch-kicked Starstrikeâs face. The smaller raptor shrieked as he stumbled back, covering his now bloody and possibly broken nose. With some effort, Hawk managed to get himself in the air again and swooped down at Strike, flying just over him and causing him to fall back with his feet in the air before circling around and grabbing onto his legs, lifting him up from the clearing.
Starstrike shrieked and writhed in his grip, clawed fingers digging into Hawkâs legs trying to pull himself up so he could tear into the larger bird, âIâLL KILL YOU! IâLL KILL YOU IâLL KILL YOU!!â
Starhawk hissed and faltered in the air. Breathing was still agonizing, he was sure the wound had been reopened beneath his bandages, and it was impossible to remain stable in the air with his opponentâs movements. He was flying closer towards the trees surrounding the rocky clearing, âalright, you wanted to settle this. This is your fault.â
âWhat?â Strike was shaken from his bloodthirsty frenzy just as Starhawk threw himself backwards, flipping once before letting go of Starstrikeâs legs, sending the smaller bird flying into one of the larger trees.
Strike choked on his own breath as his back slammed into the trunk and he tumbled onto the ground. He was pretty sure he heard something snap before his world went dark.
Starhawk watched Strike go limp as he glided towards the ground. He stumbled and fell forward onto his arms, legs dragging in the dirt behind him. He felt light-headed and weak.Â
âSTRIKE! HAWK!â The young raptor lifted his head, spotting a fuzzy mass of yellowy feathers rushing towards the clearing. He was pretty sure he saw blue right behind it, but he was too weak to try to make out the figure. With a sigh, he collapsed completely.

Neighbors Iâm Glad I Never Had đ
Trigger Warning: Kidnapping, Pedophilia
I had a dream about two nights ago that I just remembered last night that I want to share, as I think all dreams have meanings and are interesting to learn about. I will say though that I donât consider this a good dream, as parts of it are quite disturbing so viewer discretion is strongly advised.
It started with just me and my siblings was just sitting in the back yard when we heard movement over the wall from the house across from us, there were animals, and they were all just running. I donât remember what they were but there were three of them and one of them was a rabbit. All I remember from that was the rabbit was chased off by one of the other animals and died.
I then noticed that our back yard had a gate that led to the alley where the garage trunk would be picked up trash. I then looked next door and saw our neighbor also had one and seemed to have a lot of antique stuff just scattered in his yard which was also like a garage. He checked in on us and asked if we wanted to come over. I was suspicious at first but ultimately took me and my siblings to go and check out the stuff. I remember when we got there, he had a whole bunch of stuff that was made for kids. Specifically, things that would make a ten-year-old girl happy. I was gravitated towards the jewelry and really liked the earrings he had.
The man didnât seem like a bad guy. He did come off as a little shifty though, like he was taking note of the things me, and my siblings looked at. Strange, huh?
My dad then came home and found us with the neighbor. He wasnât mad or anything, he actually seemed more relieved that we were there and not anywhere else. After that though the neighbor took me and my siblings to a beach nearby where we lived and when we got there it was like the state fair. Food, games, rides absolutely everywhere just beach themed. It was wild.
Me and my siblings instantly went down to the place and we kind of dispersed. It was like we knew where we were but didnât have to be in the same place. I remember I went to the food courts and just sat and watched people make and eat the food. It was all just a bunch of meat cooked to a roast and people were like digging in, but not like animals, like people would.
Over time me and my siblings made some friends with other kids who were also at the beach. We were just talking and vibing with each other when a strange man approached us. I donât remember what he said but I think he asked us to follow him to a certain place and we did. We ended up in a shed and in the blink of an eye, the man was on top one of the kids with his foot on them rubbing their stomach. It then clicked in my head that he was a p*do and they were going to s*x traffic us. I then looked around and saw that it was my neighbor's garage and that he was also there. I instantly ran out to go and get help.
The neighbor was chasing me the whole way as I navigated through the crowds of people still, I ended up at a water obstacle course. In my mind I just knew that there was no way for the man to get to me if I ran on it, so I jumped and landed on the obstacle course. I remember running across it bumping into kids with their complaints as it was one of those racing ones based on skills and stamina.
As I got to the other side, I knew I was safe, and I tried to catch my breath. Only shortly after my dad called me. He called and asked where I was, and I tried to reply to him I couldnât. I was too out of breath. I was trying to explain everything that had just happened, but he couldnât understand me. He kept asking what I was saying, and I only replied in short breaths. I was scared and worried that I couldnât help the other kids who I ran from to try and get help.
I then woke up.

He shakes his head with a chuckle âI ainât going to get a promise in return, that was just a little gift. Didnât give you that expecting something in return, my lady!â he didnât want Sadie to think she owes him for a simple thing like a rabbit paw, in fact it was a gift itself that she allowed him to tag along and keep her company. He truly enjoys traveling with her, doesnât matter if they end up best friends instead of lovers, itâs just pleasant sitting here in wilderness with her, sharing a moment. And no one ever compliment his skill with harp, well.. sheâs the first one. Maybe because John feels too embarrassed to play in front of others but with her it just feels so right, like he knows her for so long. âoh, I can bite too! This dog here got sharp teeth to protect you, maâam!â he blurts before he can stop himself and blushes, hoping she wonât read too much in those words. He busies himself with a piece of roasted meat, nibbling and taking a part away between his teeth. âalways was?â he asks tentatively âis he⌠did he leave you?â from how she talks about her husband, it seems they love each other too much. Maybe his man is waiting on her in next town? Or maybe heâs on a travel? John heard the talks around the famous bounty hunter, that she killed her husband.. some say she hid him so others wonât threaten her by capturing her husband. John just wants to make sure.. âwell.. I think you play really well! Even if you donât want to grace us with your melody!â he doesnât want to push it on her. Offering a piece of rabbitâs meat to her with a small âbetter have dinner now then we can compare our musical skills, yeah?â his tone light.
âââđĽâââ
â charmer, gunslinger and harp player? well, you're just full of surprises, ain't you, john? this'll be good. if yer playin's as smooth as yer yammerin', that is. â it's been a long time since she's heard music. maybe too long. she never imagined it could be so quiet- too quiet- without the sound of javier's guitar or uncle's banjo. even that fool pearson's sad attempts at the accordion. she still remembers- how could they be forgotten?- nights sat by, staring into the fire, listening to charles playing on the harmonica. that once familiar sound, now so faraway. her days are as loud and violent as ever now. her work, her living, guarantees that. but, at the end of every day, there's a quietness, a stillness to them. unsettling. lacking peace and growing in restlessness. it may be too quiet. she takes this trinket in her hands with a warm chuckle, tucking it away in a pocket for safekeeping. â i ain't bin all that lucky. i'll take all the help i can get. thank you, john. now. ma gift to you... â holding out her pinkie to him, hooked 'round one end of a stray bit of bone from dinner, by way of a wishbone. â a wish. that charm o' yours'll only take ya so far. â settling herself down to listen to his playing, the brim of her hat barely concealing the mischief in her eyes. â heh, i'm takin' you at yer word, mister. don't worry- i'll go easy on ya... maybe. reckon our buddy ain't too pleased 'bout havin' the creepy-crawlies for company. and dinner. well, tough titty for him! bet they feel the same way. â quietening, listening intently to the sound of the harp, gaze straying to the instrument and to him. his eyes, his mouth. a slow, steady smile unfurling across her lips all the while. â not bad, charmin'. an' here i was thinkin' you was all bark an' no bite! â a clearing of the throat, followed by a rattle of a laugh. â i reckon the man got a life's worth o' music and headaches listenin' to my harmonica. but, he never did complain. not once. he knew- he knows- better than t' whine to ma face! smart man, my jake. always was... i wasn't half bad at the thing back in the day, if i say so maself. i've heard worse, anyway. â

What is Something You Can Never Replace?
What comes to your mind at first? Family? Friends? Phone?
This question was written on the blackboard of one of the classrooms I sit in. And there was something about it that kept making me think about it. Obviously, the first thing that crossed my mind right after seeing this was, âWho writes these kinds of soul searching questions on a board in a class?â The actual first thing that came to mind was âfamilyâ. And with that was a whole rabbit hole of people I consider families.
Thereâs the conventional family that I am related to by blood. And make no mistake, I love that family and it is something that will be impossible or at the very least, difficult to replace. This one means my brothers and parents. Their love and support is what got me where I am, and through everything life threw at me.
After them comes the found families. For me, those are my friends from Oman and college. These are made by shared experiences, sadness, late nights, gaming, and laughter. This is another one which feels like it canât be replaced. My friends from Oman were the ones who kept me sane during the COVID lockdowns and the online months of school. Though we didnât meet physically till the end of 2022, we chatted, video called during the nights, played Minecraft or Krunker during classes. Sometimes, we would try and join each other's classes, or just go on a call with each other and talk about random shit.
Friends from the hostel help me survive a 6 pm curfew and hostel food. We all eat together, so I can never focus on the food but only on the conversation. With a curfew of 6, they are now the ones who are helping me enjoy life. Movie nights, dinners, weird conversations, and roasting each other are now just part of our routine. Friends from the class are ones that actually get me to some of the classes. They are the ones who keep me invested in attending classes, associations, and whatever events are going on in college. They help me get out of the room to touch grass and explore Bangalore.
In the end, all of this rambling means that the one thing that I can never replace are the people in my life. You guys have and are helping me live life and enjoy college. And please donât give up, I still need to survive through college.

[Translation] Tsukiuta. -if- Black Rabbits Kingdom Booklet Novel: Afternoon
I promised Iâd finish this before the year ends, so hereâs it is (this emotional rollercoaster). This is the last chapter in the black novel.
Iâm not sure if Ruby moved past page 1 in the white novel but I guess weâll figure out together how to work on it.
Special thanks to @ryota-kunstranslations and @moonlit-manifesto for assistance and proofreading. Please donât repost/reuse my translations!
âAhhhhâŚâŚ, having some black tea after work is delicious.â
As he elegantly held the beautifully shaped teacup in his hand - a present from the Western Kingdom of Cats - I was unable to directly see his smile.
âG-good work today, Haru-san.â
Kakerun, Kakerun, your face is so puffed up.
Thatâs what I thought, but thereâs no way I could point that out.
Because after all, I have the same expression myself.
On the other hand, Aoi-san and Hajime-san who were sitting next to him, were sporting bitter smiles.
The only one whoâs unchanged is ArataâŚâŚ The one who disrupted that silent atmosphere.
No, he probably wasnât even thinking at all.
âHaru-san, youâre in top shape today as usual.â
âThatâs right. We had pretty good accomplishments. NoâŚâŚ Actually I have two or three stories though.â
âHaru, donât overdo it too much.â
âIf the king says so. Then Iâll keep this ace up my sleeve for the next time something similar happens.â
As he said those words with a grin, the smiles imprinted on Kakeruâs face and mine hardened.
Today, a very important meeting was organized in order to decide the budget of the next fiscal year.
However, todayâs topics can only be considered as some sort of opening ceremony, including a general estimation of the amount of money for each branch. For about the next ten days, all of the details will be worked out. Even right now, a mountain of official papers containing enormous numbers is currently piled up in the room next to Hajime-sanâs office.
Just by looking at that mountain of documents from distance, I somehow feel a light shiver running through my body. I heard Hajime-san and Haru-san speak while they are focused on those reports.
âSince the basics are already set inside our heads, we donât really have to look over the documents, you know? These are only needed for information sharing and formalityâs sake.â
Despite having the usual and other things being explained in such a smooth manner, that afternoon I came to realize that the king and the prime-minister are to be eternally unreachable.
(Ah wait, even so, I was told that the other countriesâ kings and prime-ministers are far from being like that! These two here are just on an entirely different level! Thereâs no way it means Iâm falling behind, thatâs what it is, yeah!)
âŚâŚ Wait, Iâm straying from the topic.
In any case, that important meeting took place, but at the very end of it, todayâs main conflict.... or rather, how Haru-san divided the money himself caused a public hearing.
No, Iâll make this clear.
I call it a public hearing, but in reality itâs more accurate to call it a âpublic executionâ.
The other party consisted of some shady merchants that were caught for tax evasion, based on an investigation conducted days ago.
Furthermore, it seems that a huge amount of money was stolen that way, and the gentle Haru-san outright lost his temper when we found out theyâd been selling weapons on a large scale in order to incite wars with other countries.
In the end, there was a public execution but, âŚ...yeah, in any case, it was scary. It really was.
Thereâs no doubt everyone was thinking about those attendants that came out from that meeting.
(The crime is not worth the priceâŚ...)
I swore in my heart that even in poverty Iâd live a pure and upstanding life, I sure did.
âHaru, sometimes you gain too many victories.â Hajime-san said slowly.
During that meeting, he stood on his throne in the centre and watched over the process without saying too much.
Despite not knowing why, I stretched my back.
The words uttered by Hajime-san always have a deep significance to them and seem to accumulate within me.
It feels like one day they will become my own source of encouragement.
âAlthough it was a good fight and you were victorious, donât overdo it. Thereâs no need for you to make enemies.â
As he heard Hajime-sanâs words, Haru-san smiled bitterly.
âYe~s, thatâs right. I get it. I know, itâs a bad habit. But even soâŚâŚâ
Haru-san had said before that he hated wars.
Especially wars started for no good reason because of humansâ selfish desire to shed blood. Those are things heâs unable to forgive.
âNo matter the country, every king is working desperately to build a peaceful world where living quietly is natural. But, you wonât be given benefits just by being there. On top of the service given to you, hurting other people with what you do is simply unforgivable.
He spoke calmly, but hearing Haru-san, who is always gentle and kind, saying such strong words as âI hateâ and âunforgivableâ surprised me a little.
I guess he noticed that.
Haru-san looked at me and said âSorryâ.
That made me remember.
If Iâm not wrong, Haru-san came from an orphanage that rescued war orphans.
This country was also dragged into a war for three years until Hajime-san became the king, and since then itâs been peaceful like calm waters.
Until a while ago, people had nothing else to focus on except fighting.
(...... There were a lot of casualties.)
Haru-san muttered only a few words.
âBecause of personal circumstances, I guess I lose my temper sometimes.â
While saying so, Haru-sanâs imposing ears lowered a bit.
I shook my head in a hurry.
âBut, looking at it now, I feel relieved. Haru-san wasnât wrong. Besides, Iâm sure the reason why Haru-san got angry is a gentle one!â
âKoiâŚâŚâ
The one who laughed was Aoi-san.
âAhaha. The truth is that I feel sorry for those teary-eyed merchants, though Iâm also relieved.â
If Aoi-san opens his mouth, even the slightest dull mood would be quickly dispelled and cleansed.
As one would expect, heâs the symbol of luck the entire country is proud of and a real sparkling prince.
His cleansing powers in this kind of situation are splendid.
âThe measures taken for the crime they committed are legally justified. The measures arenât misplaced and I think that in this way, this will be a good discipline for those kinds of people. Right, Hajime-san?â
Upon being asked for agreement, Hajime-san laughed abruptly without missing a beat.
I felt the temperature around me rise instantly.
âWellâŚâŚ I guess youâre right. There was no incorrect word in your judgement this time to begin with, so all the merits for discovering both the tax evasion and the business they did behind our backs go to you. âŚâŚ You helped a great deal. Good work, Haru.â
Any person from this country knows that the consoling words and compliments coming from the king are, probably, magical words meant to uplift your spirit.
âThank you. Aoi-kun, and Hajime too.â
Seeing Haru-san laughing with his usual gentle expression made me sigh in relief.
The moment that I felt relieved, I felt hungry. I took a bite from the homemade apple pie in front of me that Aoi-san had just sliced.
The aromatic fragrance of the flaky crust tickles the tip of my nose and makes me happy.
As soon as I started to chew, the apple pieâs flavour started to overflow in my mouth and the sweet syrup made my head quiver.
âNn~~~~â
Sweet, but not heavy.
No matter how many slices I have, I can go confidently through the entire hall and say this is the most delicious pie.
If he were to open a shop, that shop would have queues just to get in, thereâs no mistake.
(And if Aoi-sanâs face were to be on the shop window, it would be impossible to buy without reservation.)
I ended up thinking how people who can do anything are amazing, about how delicious the apple pie was, about other things I was impressed by, and just like that, I quickly finished eating.
But even so, I can still go on.
Another helping! Thus, I stretched my hand triumphantly towards the piece Iâd been eyeing since foreverâŚâŚ
âAh!?â
A hand stretching from my side managed to get it before I did, making me unconsciously shriek.
Nevertheless, the owner of that hand didnât hesitate at all to smoothly bring the pie to his mouth.
âAaand, itâs gone!! Wait, Arata! I wanted that one! You absolutely saw I was about to grab it, didnât you!?â
Arata looked at me in a dull manner after swallowing with a gulp what he was chewing and said:
âFirst come, first served.â
He snorted at me and then continued laughing.
(Darn it!)
âYouâre right! Youâre right! But to think that it was taken by you, it makes me angry!â
âWhatâs with that. There are more left, so just eat another one. Letâs see, you should eat the most delicious one there.â
âThatâs Hajime-sanâs! Hajime-sanâs been thinking of having that slice since a while ago, itâs obvious!â
â......â
âHajime-san, itâs alright. I was already thinking of giving it to you later but, donât worry, you werenât being completely obvious at all!â
âKakeru, youâre applying salt to the wound, you really are.â
I stood up from my seat trembling, but still acted cool while my partner Kakerun and Haru-san comforted Hajime-san.
So I faced my nemesis, and declared.
âItâs a duel, Arata! Iâll take you on for that pie grudge!â
âŚ...Itâs decided.
To the sir with the camera, if you want to take a photo, do it now.
âThe one whoâs going to regret this is youâŚâŚ. Okay then, whatâs the duel?â
Arata replied glaring, and then stood up from his seat like it was a chore to move.
âSwordsmanship, of course! After all, Koi-kun here has recently developed a special killer technique to go with his powers!â
As soon as he heard about a âkiller techniqueâ, I felt Arata get spirited.
âWhat was that, so cool! âŚ...Just joking, now bring it on, câmon! I have hundreds and hundreds of killer techniques!â
âTheyâre hundreds only if theyâre actually successful.â
âAoi, be quiet.â
âAh, okay.â
As we noisily bickered, we went out into open space in the middle of the vast courtyard.
Hajime-san and the others didnât really say anything since the reason why we are crashing into each other is not to hurt the opponent, but to improve our skills for when weâll have to protect others or ourselves, and also because itâs relatively a common sight.
How should I put it, Hajime-sanâs ears were still lowered and Haru-san was grinning.
I wonder why.
Well, it doesnât matter.
I may not be the smartest or the most sparkling and radiant.
But even so, the fact that I love this country gives me an unbreakable confidence. Bigger than anyone elseâs.
SoâŚâŚ
âThe one to defend the Black Rabbits Kingdomâs peace will be me!â

Back to Masterlist
Another Valentineâs Day, another day for the world to mock me being single.
You were having enough of a âmehâ week as it is. Dr. Strange had to return to Kamar-Taj for an in-person meeting and Wong was who knows where. They had instructed you to work on your portal and transfiguration spells while they were away which was fair since youâve been lacking in that department.
Itâs just that you longed for some excitement.
Luckily you wouldnât be spending Valentineâs completely alone; Isabeau, your best friend, was coming over due to as she put it, âno one cares about a day where all one gets is somewhat good sexâ.
Fast Forward two hours and youâre getting your room ready for Galentineâs Day Movie Night. You had decked out your room with homemade baked goods, drinks, best friend movies, all the good shit.
âI have wonderful news!â Isabeau burst in with gusto yet again.
You shot her a bemused smile, âWhat is it this time?â
âI have a new crush! Itâs Eric from IT!â
âAre you sure this wonât end up like last time?â you queried in reference to the time when Isabeauâs crush turned out to be a complete asshole.
âOh hush! This wonât be like that at all,â Isabeau retorted, âNow how about you? Have you had any luck with a hot sorcerer?â
âIf only Iâd be so lucky,â you muttered as Isabeau started on the Toffee Crunch Cookies you made.
A few minutes later, Isabeauâs eyes narrowed and her full lips curved upward in a mischievous smirk.
She had one of her ideas again.
âHey, why donât you try an ambiance spell. Theyâre harmless and you always feel better afterward.â
You didnât like casting them due to something always going awry, but you relented once Isabeau broke out her puppy dog eyes.
âAlright, alright, I give,â you submitted, âIâll try a simple floating star spell. Let me find the book.â
 Both of you went to the library for the book but it was nowhere to be found. All of the ambiance and illusion books were blank.
âIs this a sorcerer thing? Iâm not seeing any words or illustrations,â puzzled Isabeau as you went through book after book in the library only to find them blank.
âNo. Maybe we should just go back to my room,â you suggested as you made your way to the exit.
âWait! Thereâs one book left. You could try that one.â Isabeau pointed to the last book on the shelf. It was a little worn like many of the books that resided in the library, but the inscriptions seemed odd; like it wasnât supposed to be there.
Yet it was the only book that had anything in it.
âFine,â you relented as you took the book back to your room.
  The spells in the book werenât anything out of the ordinary, but one spell seemed to stand out to both of you.
âSpeculum Mundus?â Isabeau wondered.
âIt means Mirror World in Latin.â
âOh,â her eyes got a mischievous glint to them again, âI bet you canât cast the spell.â
âNot this again.â
âOh come on,â Isabeau goaded, âItâs a simple mirror world spell. Youâve done it before. Whatâs the worse that can happen?â
âI donât knowâŚâ
âAre you gonna chicken out again?â
âNo! Just give me a minute,â you mumbled as your hands got into the starting position and recited the incantation.
  The room changed instantly.
It was filled with prism-like structures and kaleidoscope imagery giving the space a surreal ambiance.
It wasnât unlike the last time you went into the Quantum Realm with Dr. Strange and Wong, and yet the hair on the back of your neck stood straight, and a chill shot through your spine.
You heard a gasp and turned around to see Isabeau with her protruding eyes opened wide and her mouth gaping. Following her line of sight, you saw four of the hottest men youâve ever seen.
Though something was amiss.
For one thing, there were two Steve Rogers; one with a beard and one clean-shaven. Bucky Barnesâ arm was silver and not dark gray with gold highlights. All of them were in black uniforms with sections of vermillion and/or maroon. Clean-shaven Steve had a black tactical suit with a vermillion Kraken on his chest. Bearded Steve had a skull with tentacles on it. Sam had three vermillion stripes and one maroon stripe across his chest and shoulders with a falconâs head in red surrounded by a black circle between his pecs.
But the thing that set off all your alarms was the fact that Buckyâs outfit was a dead ringer of his Winter Soldier days.
Instinctively, you grabbed Isabeauâs hand and made a mad dash for the hallway. You needed to get some distance so you could ground yourself.
You tried breaking the spell but to no avail. Not only did the spell not break, but your hands also burned at each attempt.
âWe wonât lose you again!â one of the Steves yelled as you and Isabeau turned a corner.
âCome here, mici prinČese!â another voice, probably Buckyâs shouted as the two of you made your way into a closet.
âI think weâre okay for now,â you breathed telepathically as the four Adonises crept past your hiding place.
âWhatâs the plan now?â Isabeau asked fearfully as her heartbeat started to rise in terror.
âI donât know but-â you were cut off by a strike to the back of your head and your vision rapidly fading to black.
  Muffled voices and the beeping of medical equipment brought you from the void.
âNothing is wrongâŚ.theyâreâŚgood, sir.â
âBe sure that they are. We canât leave anything up to chance.â
Groggily, you open your eyes to find yourself in a sleek hospital room lightly chained to a bed. Several other people were monitoring your vitals. One of them is Dr. Bruce Banner, or what seems to be Dr. Banner.
Bruce turned to see you looking around with a slightly confused expression, âAh, youâre awake,â he turned to one of his aides, âContact the Captain and Lieutenant. Tell them to come to get their bride.â
You blinked. Bride?
âWhere is Isabeau, my friend?â you inquired as one of the aides brought you some water.
Bruce scowled, âDonât think about her. You might be able to see her if the Captain and/or Lieutenant wills it.â he remarked while eyeing you up and down in a condescending almost lecherous manner, âHmm, looks great for breeding,â Bruce noted as he fondled and prodded your curves.
Youâve always been proud of how you looked, but at that moment you wanted to shrink in the corner after giving this Bruce a roundhouse kick to the groin.
You were about to tell Dark!Bruce to fuck off when Tony Stark, fuck it, Dark!Tony entered the room. This Tony looked a lot more sinister with his silver, gray, light, and steel navy blue armor. His face and hair were mostly uncovered with his facial expression positively predatory.
âCapâs one lucky bastard. He gets a sexy bunny along with Lieutenant Smart Ass.â
Recalling how some megalomaniacs liked shows of submissiveness, you lowered your head and asked where you were.
Whether it be out of pity, spite, or malice, Tony answered your question, âYouâre in another earth, another universe.â
You nearly swiveled to look outside the window. NYCâs skyline was radically different. There were fewer buildings and HYDRA insignias everywhere.
âHYDRA took over this world.â You deadpanned. FUUUUCK!
âSexy and smart.â Tony praised sardonically.
It didnât take time for HYDRA to regroup after WWII. Zola and his associates were able to convince Howard Stark to give them the Tesseract with the promise of great renown, riches, and no longer being bound by the laws of weaker men. They were able to create a superweapon with the help of Dr. Whitney Frost and have been ruling the planet ever since.
It could be worse. HYDRA knew they had to offer the people comforts in exchange for their obedience. They eradicated all diseases, created a good standard of living, and ended all petty conflicts under the new world order.
Though Tony didnât feel the need to tell you. Youâll figure it out on your own.
The doors opened to reveal Steve Rogers and his younger, clean-shaven counterpart in all their masculine glory.
âGood, youâre here.â Bruce welcomed smirking at your silent pleas.
Both soldiers walked over and inspected you.
âHello, kitten. Nameâs Ransom.â The clean-shaven soldier drawled as he moaned from your scent, âNice set of lips youâve got there.â
âWeâll definitely have some fun with her,â Steve noted as licked his lips ogling your curves.
You had to use all of your restraint not to spit in their faces.
âWeâll take her.â Ransom decided while Steve nodded.
Several of the aides breathed a sigh of relief as Steve broke the chains on your bed like they were nothing.
âDonât have too much fun now!â Tony called as Steve picked you up bridal style.
âWho am I kidding? theyâll breed her like a Catholic rabbit!â
  âUm, where are you taking me?â you queried, your voice barely above a whisper.
âYou will address us as âSirâ in public unless instructed otherwise. Is that understood?â It took all that Steve had not to push against the wall and pound your pussy with his cock he was so enraged.
No, he needed to wait. No one was to see whatâs theirs.
Ransom, for his part, chuckled and shook his head, âBest not to anger this one, kitten. He hasnât been in the best of moods.â
  You gasped once the doors to their living quarters opened.
The place was huge!
It had a modern yet retro design; it shouldâve been confusing, but it worked. Grand windows showcased the skyline with a balcony in the middle with a huge kitchen next to what looked to be a restaurant-style fridge and a huge living room with a TV and a fireplace.
Yet there seemed to be something missing.
âPlace needs a womanâs touch,â Ransom commented sending a smirk your way.
âIâll see you in the guest quarters Ransomâ Steve deadpanned as he led you down a hall.
  The bedroom was enormous yet sparse like they didnât know what to do with it.
You were about to say something when Steve dropped you onto the incredibly soft mattress. His eyes darkened with lust and you knew what he wanted. You couldnât think of a way out of this, not with the magic inhibitors Bruce placed on your wrists.
Maybe you could give escape one last try; you just had to wait for the right opening.
Steve smirked upon seeing you removing your clothes. He liked that you knew your place, his pretty little princess.
You could only gasp when Steve removed his uniform top. He had an incredibly defined musculature: broad shoulders, beefy biceps, chiseled pecs and abs, and a seriously drool-worthy Adonis Belt. The light shining behind him made his body appear even more glorious.
Steve looked like an ancient god brought to modern times.
With a predatory smirk, Steve slowly crawled to you loving the smell of your arousal. âLet me lay out a few rules, sweetheart. You will make our meals, clean our rooms, bear our children, and be our good little whore. You must earn the right to wear a bra; panties are out of the question.â
Each rule was emphasized by a kiss or a love bite to your jaw, neck, collarbone, and shoulders.
Finally, you are to address us as Sir in public and Daddy in private. Say it.â
âYes, Daddy,â you muttered with your eyes downcast.
Steve lifted your chin up with his forefinger, âThatâs a good girl,â and brought you in for a kiss on the lips.
The kiss was demanding yet soft. You were surprised he was capable of such gentleness.
Steve was about to push his tongue into his mouth when Ransom strolled into the room.
âDoes she know the drill?â
Steve broke the kiss with a smirk,â Just finished explaining it.â
Ransom shot you a sardonic smirk, âYou got the rules, kitten? Good. Now if you misbehave, Iâm gonna send you to the dungeons for a few days.â
Steve started up again, âBut...if youâre good-â
âA good little wifey,â Ransom interjected caressing your right cheek and leaning in for a kiss.
This kiss started off soft then intensified (really know how to lure a girl) into one filled with passion and dominance. Ransom forced his tongue into and moaned at your taste. A few seconds later he was pushing what felt like a small tablet past your tongue forcing you to swallow.
âDid you do it yet?â
âCool it, grandpa! I did, donât you worry. Sheâs gonna feel it. Arenât ya, kitten.â
You started to feel strange. Your body temperature skyrocketed, your mind was in a deep haze, your thighs were clenching on overtime you were so turned on. You needed relief and fast.
âPlease Daddies!â you begged as you tried your best not to touch yourself.
âSee grandpa? Sheâs ready.â Ransom purred as he grabbed your thighs and placed them over his shoulders. He planted a few kisses near your entrance and groaned at the smell of your arousal.
It only took one long, slow lick to your slit to turn you into a moaning mess. You couldnât believe the pleasure you were feeling. It was like a bolt of lightning shot through you.
Ransom groaned at the taste of your juices. Not even Starkâs overpriced chefs could compare. âFuck, she tastes divine,â he groaned and dove in for more. Ransom attacked your folds and swollen clit with insane intensity and precision alternating between his tongue and fingers.
You were on cloud nine. Each motion took you further to the precipice of an orgasm. Ransom kept bringing you back from the edge only thrust you back into his level of tumultuous.
Steve got in on the action by covering your moans with a kiss of all-consuming passion and started playing with your breasts.
âFuck, these tits are amazing! Canât wait until these are filled with milkâ Steve purred as he took one of your nipples into his mouth and the other between his big and forefingers.
After twenty minutes of teasing, Ransom finally let you come. A volcanic eruption of ecstasy erupted from your core and Ransom lapped up all of your juices.
âRogers, youâre in for a treat!â Ransom exclaimed as he hopped off the edge of the mattress.
âI get her pussy first since you got to eat her out,â Steve uttered as grinned at your blissed-out state.
With a tsk, both of them got you into position with Steveâs thick, muscular thighs on either side of your hips and Ransom standing in front of you taking off his pants.
He was huge! His cock was long, thick, and veiny. It wobbled against his masterfully sculpted abs with each step he took. You wondered how that was going to fit in your mouth. Turns out Steveâs was no smaller if his tip being coated with your slick is any indication.
âThis wonât hurt, kitten. You were made for us.â Ransom cooed.
You didnât know how right he was.
Steve made his move by pushing into you inch by delicious inch and moaned at the sensation. âFuck, she fits like a dream.â
âDonât take forever, grandpa.â Ransom chided.
âShut up, ya punk!â Steve retorted as he began thrusting into you loving the way your pussy clenched around him like a viceâs grip.
âOpen wide, kitten,â Ransom started to push his throbbing cock into your mouth.
It took a bit of time and effort to loosen your jaw enough for him to fully enter you. He started fucking your mouth before you were ready. You tried not to gag he was so rough.
What happened to the man from earlier?
âFuckinâ perfect.â Ransom breathed as he was approaching his climax.
Steve came with a primal roar that reverberated throughout the room after making you come two more times.
âSwallow it, kittenâ Ransom ordered.
Funny thing is, you didnât need the order. You delighted in the salty, tangy, and slightly sweet flavor.
Two minutes after you swallowed all of Ransomâs spent, both men decided it was time to move. Ransom got onto the mattress and pulled you on top of him with his tip nudging your entrance. Steve got behind you and placed kisses along the juncture between your neck and shoulders while positioning himself at your ass.
âPlease...please donât do this!â you pleaded, the pillâs effect slipping for the tiniest of moments.
Steve grabbed your neck with just enough force to pause, not hurt.â Best be a good girl now, sweetheart,â he warned.
Ransom slid in first, âHoly fucking shit!â he moaned, âSam owes me $40.
âThat depends on how well their bride is taking to them,â Steve pointed out.
âEh, weâll say ours is better.â
Ransom moaned again once he bottomed out and grabbed the globes of your blessed backside. He couldnât wait to grab and smack it around in their quarters.
Steve moved slowly causing both of your breathing to hitch, his from pleasure and yours from slight pain.
With a grin and smirk, they started moving in tandem. Your body almost couldnât take the immense pleasure you were feeling.
âI could get used to this,â Ransom remarked.
âWell, we have the week,â Steve breathed past your ear.
Both kept at it until they came in you twice. You nearly passed out after your twelfth orgasm.
âRest kitten,â Ransom purred as you finally gave in to your exhaustion.
  âThe bride took to our seed,â Steve reported to Director Pierce.
âGood. We found their parents along with the rest of the resistance.â Pierce imparted.
Steve scowled at the information.
You and your friend, Isabeau, were the only ones to survive the Eve Project. HYDRA wanted to genetically groom compatible brides for their top soldiers. You were promised to Steve and Ransom and your friend to Bucky and Sam. Both of you were whisked away to another Earth by the resistance and your treacherous parents.
Now you were back where you belong.
âWhen do we leave?â Ransom growled.
âOnce Strange and Wanda crack the protection spell. In the meantime, enjoy your bride.â Pierce turned to leave, but stopped before turning off the screen,â I want to see some little ones soon.â

i cant believe you said you dont write for fandoms!! these are ending up AMAZING! have another fail date for you to make better: we went four-wheel driving over the dunes out bush, we took my car but he drove because he's done the route before. we were the second car in the convoy and because my car is a little smaller than the others it couldnt make it up the last dune! it nearly made it over before sliding back into the sand and ended up half buried! (1/2)
(2/2) the rest of the group had to drag and push us out with planks and chains etc while we were stuck inside because no way in hell i was opening the door to let the sand in! so three wheels in the sand, waiting on our rescue, irl it was a bit awkward but im hoping you'll rewrite a better ending <3
Awww concussed dragon, you are sooo sweet! Thank you! Your unique failed dates are great to work with. Alrighty, let's get into this one! So the pack got big in this one and while most don't have lines, I liked the idea of everyone being there (or almost for anyone I missed haha). I left some of the couple combos up to interpretation so feel free to ship at your leisure.
---
The pack, after much pestering from a certain human/spark, were finally going on their camping trip. The alpha had finally conceded when Stiles had shot him a pout and hopeful eyes. Derek had reluctantly agreed and ignored the snickering of his betas in the corner of the room.
On the morning of the trip, everyone was pairing up into groups of drivers and passengers so no one drove alone and there were less cars.
Derek and Stiles were the last members out of the rebuilt Hale House. Derek had been locking up and Stiles was finishing off some wards to ensure there were no unwanted visitors while they were away. He was still learning to harness his spark but small wards of protection were easy enough. Defensive magic was easier, offensive was another story.
Stiles threw his bag into the back of the jeep and glanced around.
"So, who's joining Roscoe and me?"
Erica snickered, "Derek."
"What?" Stiles and Derek snapped in unison. Well at least Stiles had a punctuation mark, Derek's not so much.
"I'm with Danny, Lydia and Jacks." Kira spoke up. "Scott, Malia, and Isaac are with Allison."
"I'm obviously with my boy." Erica jumped onto Boyd's back, who was used to his girlfriend's antics and easily caught her. "And Theo is meeting us there after picking up Liam from work. Everyone's paired up so that just leaves you two."
Stiles felt his heart flutter but managed to keep his voice even as he spoke, "Alright Alpha My Alpha, let's get going."
Derek didn't say a word as he slid into the passenger seat of the jeep. Everything would be fine.
Everything was not fine. Stiles was definitely going through a quarter life crisis at the realisation most of the pack were in couples. How did he not realise that? When had it become a prerequisite to start dating a pack member? And now it was just Stiles and the alpha. The alpha he had been in love with for years. Great...
"What's wrong?"
Stiles was pulled out of his internal panic by said alpha's soothing voice. Derek had softened over the years, showing care and concern for each member of the pack. He now bought scent-free nail polish for Erica (so the acid smell didn't upset all the were's noses), stocked Isaac's favourite gummybears and even hugged Kira willingly at her university graduation. Derek Hale was a softie.
"I'm fine, nothing wrong here, no sir." Stiles prattled. Even he heard the blatant lies without supernatural healing. He glanced to his side and was greeted by raised eyebrows.
"Ok, so I may have just realised how paired up everyone in the pack really is."
"Except us."
"Yeah," Stiles sighed. "Except us. Do you ever think about that? Like, why you haven't dated anyone since..." He trailed off. Derek didn't have the best track record for his love interests but he hadn't even been on a date for more than 3 years.
Derek looked out the window at the scenary, they were driving into the sand dune part of the journey, and for a moment Stiles thought he wasn't going to answer.
"I've been waiting."
Stiles blinked. Huh?
"For someone so smart, you're really clueless sometimes." Derek huffed, glancing back at Stiles.
"What have you been waiting for?" Stiles dared to ask. They had paused to allow Allison's four-wheel-drive to roll up the last sand dune, waiting for their turn. Roscoe would be the last time to make the climb.
"I thought it was my imagination at first but then you kept coming around and..."
It was Roscoe's turn now and Stiles slowly prepared for the final climb of the dune. He tried to keep focused on the task at hand, allowing Derek to speak his thoughts. You never rushed the alpha when he was being vulnerable.
"I know you kind of like me?" Derek voiced it as a question but all Stiles heard was sirens in his brain. Derek knew? Stiles' foot slid off the peddle and they immediately started rolling backwards, fast.
"Shit! Shit, shit shit." Stiles acted quickly but it wasn't enough. Roscoe descended the sand dune and sank, refusing to move. Sand on either side of them blocked the bottom of their doors. They were officially stuck.
Stiles rested his head on the steering wheel and slowed his breathing. There were multiple crises going on but most had solutions.
The others would work out they hadn't made the climb soon enough or Theo and Liam would find them on their way through. So either way, Roscoe being stuck wasn't a massive deal. The real dilemma was Stiles' outed feelings for Derek.
The same Derek that was eyeing Stiles with concern as he called Kira to request some assist. Stiles heard him hang up before the sound of a door handle being jiggled. He snapped his head up.
"Whoa there sourwolf, there is to be no sand storm in this car, thankyouverymuch." He reached out and tugged the alpha's hand away from the door.
"I figured me getting out and pushing was the preferred option to sitting here with you in a state of panic at my assumption."
Stiles pulled his hand back. "What?"
"Look, we can just forget I ever said anything, alright? I get I'm not the most desirable crush to have. It's probably just familiarity and your sense of loyalty that's fueled your scent around me anyway. Don't worry about it."
Stiles shook his head, "Oh no you don't. You opened that can of worms and I'm no coward." The spark met Derek's gaze. Had he been planning on ignoring his feelings for the alpha? Sure. But was he going to run away from a moment like this? Nope. Stiles Stilinski was a lot of things but after running with wolves and other supernaturals for most of his life, he knew when he needed to tackle something head on.
"Now, before you go down your rabbit hole of I'm-not-good-enough crazy talk, I've got something to say."
Derek nodded like the soft alpha he was and turned to face Stiles more fully.
"You, Derek Alexander Hale, are amazing. A little on the martyr side but that's because you are so protective of your pack. I'd be crazy to not fall in love with you. That's right, love not like. I've been in love with you for years but how was a kid like me going to catch the alpha's eye? I didn't want to ruin our friendship. This," He gestured between them. "This is important to me. I don't want to ruin it."
Derek released a sigh of relief? Stiles couldn't read his eyebrows which was disappointing when he was the most expert at interpreting the alpha's facial expressions.
Then Derek was darting forward and claiming Stiles' lips in a searing kiss. Stiles went with it, almost unbelieving that any of this was happening.
Derek eventually pulled back and rested his forehead against Stiles'.
"Worth the wait." The alpha whispered, grinning, bunny teeth all on display.
"Two way street here. You could've said something too. How long have you liked me?"
Derek blushed and it was only because they were so close that Stiles saw the pink of his cheeks and ears.
"I've always liked you, even if I didn't always show it. But love? I think I've loved you since you woke me up on an elevator floor by punching me. You could have left without me but you didn't."
Stiles pouted, "Since then?"
Derek raised an eyebrow, "What's wrong?"
Stiles pushed Derek back and clumsily crawled across the gear stick to straddle the alpha's lap.
"We could have been having the best sex of my life for years, Derek! Years! We've got a lot of making up to do." Stiles dove in to kiss Derek this time. The alpha happily drew Stiles in closer, curling his arms around the spark's slim waist.
A knock on the window, interrupted their make-out session. Boyd's face appeared with judging eyebrows to rival Derek's.
"Heard you needed a hand." Boyd spoke loudly with a smirk as Derek's hand moved away from Stiles' ass to rest safely on his back.
"What's Erica doing?" Stiles asked, leaning over Derek to squint at the blonde chatting wildly on the phone. Derek focused his hearing.
"Turns out I'm not the only one who was waiting." Derek grinned, "And everyone apparently owes Lydia money."
They did eventually get Roscoe out of the sand dune thanks to the advantages of going camping with multiple supernatural creatures. By the time everyone was settled in the camp and Erica had informed Theo and Liam on the events of the day, Lydia was a very rich woman.
Stiles couldn't complain though. Not when the alpha was snuggled between his legs as Stiles sat on the log and Derek roasted them marshmallows. Apparently no one trusted Stiles near an open flame following the incident with that vampire clan. Stiles combed his fingers through Derek's hair and looked around at the pack. This camping trip was the best idea ever.
--
Ok so I must confess I do not camp like...ever and have no idea how four-wheel-driving works so please forgive any major errors in that department. I tweaked things a bit from your prompt sorry. I just couldn't imagine Stiles letting anyone else drive Roscoe. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for popping in!

As much as I am an advocate for research and learning about the times of old, I am only human and I am short on time researching in between my full time job. I have grown up and currently live in Chicago and I have never written a story about the Windy City before so here I am, writing to you about the wonderful city I call home. I am doing my best to stay true to my writing as well as make it as accurate as one can, but please forgive me if there are faults in this story!Â
We are not doing a collective Valentineâs Day event this year but the contents of this piece have been weighing heavily on my mind, so I asked if I could write this story for a little something-something. I hope you all enjoy it!
Written By: Admin đ @therealmintedmangoâÂ
Also, who do you think the other boys from BTS are from Alice in Wonderland in this story? Iâd love to know!Â
Stepping out of my very own vehicle my future husbandâs family sent for me, I take in the sights and the sounds that Chicago provides this snowy afternoon.Â
People waltz around one another and mingle about, snow crunching under their feet. The faint sounds of jingle bells float down the streets in the chilly air, it smells of popcorn and roasted nuts as well as the sludge of gasoline tainting the snow. A cold breeze gliding across the buildings nearly knocks me off my feet as I look up to my new place of residence, a new high-rise Michigan Ave. The stars above my head seem to sparkle in the dark sky, or are those just the electric lights from the grand buildings surrounding me?Â
Curious, I think as I continue to have my sights set above the horizon. Iâve certainly strayed very far from the corn fields of back home. Inhaling the sharp, bitterly cold air around me, I feel a sense of dread almost wash over my senses. I knew what I was signing up for when I came here. Jonathan and I discussed it in great detail over the wire.Â
The reality of the situation is finally sinking into my layers of clothing.Â
Jonathan Suh, the grandson of Suh Realtor Industries Incorporated - which owns about one third of Chicago - has asked me to marry him. It was seemingly out of the blue too. I was going to spend the next years of my life trying to marry into the best livestock or vegetable farmer in town, not the filthy rich grandson in a large city. It felt like a dream when he called me and begged me to come as soon as possible. I suppose it pays off to be kind to everyone, especially when it felt like it was yesterday we were both in grammar school together.Â
I drink it all in, the busy sounds, the cold night air that leaves me feeling bitter and raw standing in the street while snow begins to descend from the blackened sky. It feels foreign to me even though itâs only about two hours away from the farm. The breeze blistering in from the west sends a chill up my spine.Â
This is a new beginning, I ponder to myself as I stretch upwards in the middle of the sidewalk. This is my chance at a better life, this is way better than being some poor, sad farm girl. Thatâs right! Iâm going to be the wife of my childhood friend who just happened to be some rich playboy who has more money than he knows what to do with.
Iâm going to be a Suh!
...Even if the whole arrangement is a sham...
âMiss, you are going to freeze to death outside!â Jonathanâs maids rush to usher me out of the cold quickly, but not before I accidentally bump into someone on the busy sidewalk.Â
âI beg you to pardon me,â I mumble as I set my sights over my shoulder on a man dressed in a long coat with hair as white as the snow currently blanketing the ground. âYouâll have to forgive me, I am just enraptured with how bright Chicago seems to shine at night.âÂ
The manâs seemingly red eyes expand with my excitement, then soften. âNo pardon to beg, MissâŚ?â He queries, a bloom of warmth spreading across his face. Â
âSuh.â I smile as the men shout from my car they have finished unpacking. âWell, I am the future Mrs. Jonathan Suh. For now I suppose I am still Y/N Y/L/N.â
âStrange, I didnât think he⌠Well, never mind that now.â His eyes linger on mine. âJohnnyâs got good taste.â I hear him mumble under his breath in a deep tone, slurring his words together in a string. âWell, I canât wait to see more of you, future Mrs. Jonathan Suh.â He says as he swings his coat behind himself and takes off down the street, the crowd and the night dissolving him like a pill in warm water.Â
Curious and curiouser this night becomes, I think as the maids finally have enough of me standing about in the cold.Â
âDo you know who that was?â I ask the hoard of them, hoping someone has the answer to my bump in the night with a rather odd fellow. My heart is beating but Iâm not sure what for. I know my place. I know why he called me⌠My fate was sealed as soon as I got the wire from my future husband.
The collective flock shake their heads and mutter polite ânoesâ as they lead me up grand staircases of marble and through dim corridors at this time of night, leaving my brain a drifting piece of snow in the blizzard that will surely accumulate outside overnight.Â
âRight this way.â A young redhead coos as she parades me up what must be my twentieth flight of stairs Iâve climbed this evening. âMaster Suh will be so happy you are here at last!â They lead me into a beautiful room with the most lavish furniture Iâve ever seen in my life! Magazines and pictures certainly donât bestow such fine items with quite the same honor as seeing such beauty in person.Â
âMadam Suh has a full schedule for you this weekend.â One of the elderly looking women dares to swoon as she says, âWedding planning, Iâm sure, no doubt.â My coat is taken from me and I am given house slippers to wear.Â
The flock - or really I should call them a herd of lemmings - all agree once more as a butler leads us through a hallway with objects of fine art, pottery, and paintings. Each item is so uniquely wonderful that it would make my brothersâ and sistersâ heads spin if they saw how perfect and polished everything is. How ornate and lavish! Am I to spend my life with fine, intricate pieces of art from all mediums? I wonder if Jonathan has created any of these himself? Would he allow me to paint? I wonder...
âMaster Suh,â I inhale, realizing I am right at the threshold of a beautiful oak door. âMiss Y/N Y/L/N has arrived.â The butler announces.Â
My body feels all fuzzy and nervous for some reason. Itâs been many years since Iâve seen my dear friend from when we were still learning how to hop on a bicycle in the country where his family had a small house and property that butted up against my familyâs by the little lake in the middle of a corn field.Â
âY/N!â A deep, refreshing voice purrs before he embraces me in a tight hug. âHow was your ride? Did the car fair well, unlike the weather?â He chuckles as his tall frame dwarfs mine in comparison. The scent of him is most definitely cinnamon, scotch, and leather, which Iâm not surprised. All fine things to smell of for certain.Â
The maids all giggle and mumble their approval and the butlers look away, anxious to gaze upon a woman in another manâs arms. I suppose his gesture of a greeting is very rude, but I donât mind. Being smack-dab in the middle of my siblings, I feel like nothing phases me anymore, even the hug Jonathan wraps around me.Â
âJonathan Suh,â I simper, pulling out of his embrace, âThe ride was not too terrible, and my, how tall youâve grown! And so dapper too.â I sigh earnestly. âItâs a pleasure to see you again.â
âI hope you say that every day you wake up and I am there beside you.â Jonathanâs brown eyes seem to daze in the glow from the lamp lights in the sitting parlor.Â
Thereâs nothing more I hate than an arrogant flirt, not to mention an arrogant flirt with money is all the more trouble. Is this really going to be the rest of my life? Living with Jonathan like this? So contrived and fake⌠it makes my insides twist.Â
âI am rather weary though from a day full of travels.â I pretend to yawn, shifting out of his arms bit by bit and heading toward the door. âMay I have the delight in seeing you tomorrow?âÂ
âOh yes, you must be quite tired. I always get sleepy on car rides.â Jonathan muses as he extends his hand to the door and the staff scramble into place. âMr. and Mrs. Alan would you please escort Y/N to her room? I will be here but on the other end of the house until we are...you know-âÂ
âGoodnight, Jonathan.â I say almost too quickly after that, leaving almost as swiftly as Iâve come.Â
Once my hair is down and I am dressed comfortably in my nightgown, I feel like I can take a deep breath again. It feels odd with my hair unpinned, sitting in a brand-new nightgown, overlooking the rocking waves of the lake and the snow that drifts down from the sky. Basking in the sill of my window from the beautiful lights and moonlight shining through my velvet curtains, I hope and pray that every night I spend in Chicago is not as forced and fake as this one has been.

Iâm chasing something odd in my dream.Â
I move between pictures hanging on the walls, through the bellies of grandfather clocks, I emerge through the darkness every time, chasing a little white rabbit with a cottontail through or around objects of grand design. I have never had a dream that felt so vivid and real, like I am actually flying through my thoughts, time of the utmost essence for some unknown reason. I canât seem to escape a dark feeling looming around me and I feel slightly frightened that I will not catch the little thing.Â
When I reach for the little dumpling covered in pretty white fur, it lurches forward, propelling my desire to catch up to the little beast.Â
I descend deeper and deeper, the spotlight in the darkness focused solely on the bunny ahead of me. I canât reach him, Iâm not fast enough, my feet do not carry me quick enough. I call to the animal but it doesnât hear me, instead it flies between two large velvet curtains.Â
âPlease!â I beg the animal as I pop through the hole in the curtains, shuffling through on my knees. âWhere are you takingâŚmeâŚâ My question dies in my throat as I look up to find red eyes, his curly blonde hair waving at me from under a gold top hat, a gold mask from that of a masquerade celebration covering most of his face.Â
But, I know that soft smirk well now. Iâve replayed it several times already in my mind like the fool I am.Â
This is the man I met on the sidewalk. I gasp. But, why is he inhabiting my dream?
âWelcome to Wonderland, Alice.â A soft voice wafts from high above the two of us, making me shiver. âWeâve been waiting for you.â
Why am I frightened? Surely this is not a nightmare. I was only following a rabbit and now I am here with these two men.Â
Slowly, my eyes trail up the large mahogany platform, showcasing a very large, ornately plush gold and maroon seat which houses a man in an all green suit of the finest quality. He is also wearing a mask trimmed with greens and golds, his lush lips pinkened like he had just indulged in delicious raspberry jam pulled into a dark smirk. He sits with the side of his pale face in one of his hands, resting comfortably on the arm of the pretty chair. The man from the street sits on a swing that hangs high from the rafters, silently taking me in. An aura of power and class drips tastefully from every fiber of his being, weighing heavily upon me like he is a hammer and I am but a humble nail.Â
âGood job chasing rabbits.â The manâs smile further stretches, his amber eyes boring down upon me, making my skin want to jump from my skeleton. âThe next step is to find The Rabbit Hole.â
My eyes fling open, a train's loud horn blaring in the distance, the golden morning haze filtering from the curtains across the room. I jolt upward in bed, cold sweat beading my body, tainting the beautiful nightgown the Suhs have given me. I throw the sheets off my bed and clutch my forehead, musing the words of the man in all green over and over to myself in a frenzy.Â
...What a dreadfully vivid dream...
-
Iâve been here for almost a week and Iâve lost count of the tea parties and luncheons Iâve attended with Mrs. Suh. The people and the houses and families they all belong to are getting lost to me in the wake of planning for a wedding. Though, Iâm not sure how much I am actually planning. Merely pointing between two colors of table placemats and napkins or choosing between a flower or two.Â
Tonight though, it is another snowy evening on the lakeshore, we are attending a jazz concert at the Sunset Cafe to see a wonderful show performed by the talented Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong who make the most wonderful music. I was practically buzzing when I heard the news that the Suhs would be taking me this evening. As always, Jonathan and his mother have only two options for me to wear this evening and I must make a choice between them. A silver, more A-lined gown that shows off more skin than one should in the winter with a mink-fur cowl or more fluttering, off the shoulder velvet cobalt-blue style of a ball gown with embroidered golden stars falling from the bust in waves of tulle.Â
Call me old fashioned, but I choose the one that makes me feel like a princess, not the one that makes me fit in. My thoughts wander between which Suh picked out which dress for me to wear and the dream of me chasing a white rabbit.Â
I can never seem to catch that rabbit nor have I seen the two men since my first dream. It relieved me, but it also scared me.Â
A shimmering laugh that is made of moonbeams and stars pulls me from my spell of thought that engrossed me.
The Suhs are dotting and cheerful people, always looking out for their only son in this cruel world. They are wonderful and powerful in their own ways, working the men and ladies in the sitting room of the theater with just a glance or smile of their lips. Mr. Suh smokes a cigar and smacks Jonathan on the back as they stand in the corner away from the ladies. Mrs. Suh includes me in all her conversations, never wanting me to feel lost or dissuaded from a million questions by another matriarch of a well-to-do family.Â
I can see why Jonathan doesnât want to disappoint them or the good people of his clanâs name before or after himself. Â
The room is hazy from the smoky cigars that the men all drag on in between their elaborate conversations about President Coolidge and his beliefs while the women discuss lighter subjects such as traveling to Paris and Morocco as well as tennis. I find my thoughts up in the cloud of smoke that hangs in the room.Â
âPardon me, ladies,â Jonathan places a hand gently upon my shoulder, âmay I steal Y/N away for a few moments?âÂ
âThe concert will begin shortly, Johnny.â Mrs. Suh smiles, casting her charms to her son who smiles with reassurance to his dear mother.Â
âDonât fret, mother,â Jonathan grins as she calls him his nickname, âI want to show her off to my college chums.â
Her eyes twinkle in delightful mischief as she swirls her glass of sweet liquor in her hand. âJust be sure to return her in one piece. Y/N has a long day ahead of her tomorrow.âÂ
More wedding planning Iâm not privy to I suppose? Such is my life now. High society is fun and all but the pressure is unlike anything Iâve ever felt before⌠No, my brain is captivated once more by the dark aura of the man from my dream, looming and lingering above me, teeth glimmering in the lim electric light of the room from my lucid dream. That was true, pure evil pressure I wish to never partake in the feeling of ever again.Â
Jonathan says nothing as he turns from her, ushering me away with his hand placed gently on my shoulder. We move silently and quickly through groups who mingle and giggle, alcohol strong in their glasses and upon their breath as we pass through the crowd of rich socialites.Â
We stop at one group of gentlemen, but I am only introduced to one handsome man named Jung Jaehyun who fondly shakes Jonathanâs hand and winks at me. What an odd fellow, I tell myself as we dive deeper and deeper into the crowd of people loitering in the fancy sitting room.Â
âIâm glad you wore the one I picked out.â Jonathan says so low that I may only be able to hear his words. Well, that answers that question then. âThese men might eat you alive, so stay as sharp as a blade but soft as a lamb, understand me? They will not leave me be until I introduce you to them.âÂ
âAre they your friends?â I query with a whisper as he pulls me to the edge of the room where young men have beautiful young ladies draped on their elbows.Â
I have never seen a lady look like they do, but I suppose it is fashionable and âkept up with the timesâ. I am not so appealing as these ladies are with their skin on display and their heels high, they attract my attention before the men who hold them up do. Their makeup is dark, yet shimmering in the soft glow from the electric lights from above. The fair ladiesâ hair is cut so short, their sideways hats and feather headbands merely slip off their sleek and shiny hairstyles. I am in awe of the way they look and envy them for behaving and chatting so freely.Â
âDo not be scared, but they are budding gangsters who run speakeasies.â My eyes widen with his words, but I do what I am told. âPlease do me another favor, Y/N, and become the most desirable woman here.â Jonathan whispers to me before we approach the hoard of people in front of me. âI will set you free from this cage as soon as I can.â
I can only nod as my demeanor switches like that of a light switch.Â
Walking up to these men and women Iâve never met, I invoke the acting spirit of Jane West for Jonathan. I demand my attention. I am the most beautiful creature in this sitting room, if not all of the world. I did not go to college but I am going to show you how well read and cultured I am. I am going to be a Suh and I command you all to bow down to me in this instant.Â
âSuh!â A tall man with coiffed, sandy blonde locks beams as he steps away from his fair darling on his arm tonight. âYou dog! I didnât think youâd grace us with your presence this evening!â They shake hands and laugh at nothing vigorously as I look between the two before the blonde catches my eye. They are pretty amber eyes that remain half-lidded and surely dazzle in the glow from chandeliers above. Heâs not as tall as Jonathan, but he is handsome. âThis must be-âÂ
âY/N Y/L/N.âÂ
A voice from behind the blonde says clearly, setting to be free from the shadow of Jonathanâs friend.Â
Itâs the white rabbit! I think as I try to hold myself together. He looks rather dapper in a white and gold waistcoat with tails, a top hat making him appear to be as formal as one can be. This is the gentleman I bumped into the streets, but I cannot press out of my head. I want to tell him to stay out of my dreams, but I fear he will think me mad if I declare such a bold thing without expressing my thoughts further. Â
âYou know of my future bride, Jeon?â I feel the grip upon my shoulder tighten and breath being held from above me. Donât fret, Jonathan, I would never tell anyone. I promise. Your secret is safe with me.Â
The friend with his hair as white as the fallen snow looks at me passively, eyes rimmed red like he canât sleep a wink either. âI met her on the sidewalk, John, but weâve never been properly introduced.â He bows and takes my blue-colored gloved hand in his white ones. He kisses the top of my hand and in this ball gown-like dress I am indeed fulfilling my fantasy of pretending to be a beautiful princess. âItâs a pleasure to meet you, future Mrs. Jonathan Suh.âÂ
âY/N,â Jonathan says, exhaling the concerned breath heâs been holding in, his grip returning to normal as well. âThese are my friends from college: Mr. Kim Namjoon, whose family owns one third of the city like mine does, and Mr. Jeon Jungkook, who makes up the triangle of the most powerful families of Chicago.âÂ
âAt your service.â Jungkook says with a cheeky grin stretching across his face, kissing the top of my hand once more.Â
The way he looks up at me makes butterflies trapped in my body flutter and flounce about. But I cannot swoon or succumb to a young man so openly. Jonathan is counting on me.Â
âIâm delighted to meet Jonathanâs friends from his schooling.â I say in the same charming manner Mrs. Suh has produced all week.Â
âForgive me for this is a bold question, future Mrs. Suh, but, will you be getting a gown made?â Namjoon asks me as he sips his scotch on the rocks.
âI think tomorrow I am going for a fitting, yes.â I nod my head, smiling just the right amount.Â
âThen it should be crafted by the finest in the Windy City, Kimâs Couture on the corner of Washington and LaSalle Street. Have you heard of the establishment before?â Namjoon queries.
âIndeed! I have!â I exclaim happily, my eyes wide as his stay half-lidded as though he is sleepy, though he smiles earnestly.Â
âThen I must insist you have a treasured wedding gown made by my seamstresses.â He hands me a white business card with only his name upon it. I stare at it until he taps it twice. âThey will take excellent care of you, I promise.âÂ
âOh-ho!â A soft, almost melliferous voice rings out behind me. No... âThis must be the infamous bride-to-be!â I know this voice! Fear rattles through me, making me tremble as I look over the shoulder Jonathan is not draped over to look at the mysterious voice. Time is slow as molasses as I face the man from my dream, clad all in a green waistcoat, vest, and top hat, wolfishly grinning at me.Â
âAh, this is my eldest brother,â Namjoon muses as the electric lights flash, indicating the performance will begin soon, âSeokjin Kim.âÂ
Kim Seokjin...
I feel like I know everything about this man yet nothing at all. He is the type of man who is a brilliant summer on the outside and stormy winter on the inside. The smile on his lips - that is the color of the inside of a cherry tart - is warm, yet cold all in the same breath. He appears to be a powerful man of high class, wrapped in an enigma of grace and power. But there is a scent of something malicious in the air as he closes the gap between us and gets down on his knee to kiss upon my hand.Â
Iâm not sure what made me do it, but something comes over me, the flight or fight instinct animals possess lurches out of me in this moment. Â
âWhy is a raven like a writing desk?â I ask, pulling my arm away from him.
Seokjinâs bright amber eyes slowly travel up my ball gown, disbelief and confusion colors his good looking features.Â
Mouths open in shock and my heart drops, but I feign a lie, turning out of Jonathan grasp, and quickly say, âForgive me, for I feel faint.â I run to the bathroom in the hall as everyone piles into the main room of the Sunset Cafe, heart pounding in my chest and cheeks on fire.Â
Iâm so sorry Jonathan, I did not mean to make a fool out of you. There is just something about the way Seokjinâs gaze is so feral that chills me to the bone.Â
A hand rests upon Jungkookâs shoulder while he continues to longingly gaze at the door as if he was willing me to come back with his mind. âDonât worry, Jeon.â Seokjin purrs in his ear, amber gleam set upon the door. âShe is the one who chases you every night, not the other way around.âÂ
âI know, hyung.â Jungkook whispers as the brass begins to trumpet through the building. âWhen do we make our move?âÂ
âSoon.â Seokjin chuckles darkly, guiding the younger of the boys to follow behind him. âVery soon we will have our glorious tea party.âÂ
-
The subject of marriage has always been an odd one to me, I think to myself as maids and fashion consultants from the Kimâs dress boutique flutter and coo around me. Â
My parents married but it was never for love. I knew that, my siblings and myself knew that, yet they both loved us all the same. My mother and father married as more of a âgood match on paperâ sort of situation, than they were truly, madly in love. Still, they never fought, my father never hit my mother, never drank himself silly, never talked to another woman. My mother upheld the same standard and raised us all with love in her hardworking heart. I knew she was aware that I havenât spoken to Jonathan since we were young children and that I would soon be in the same boat if I accepted his offer.Â
âA lifetime of money doesnât equal happiness.â She told me. âYou should marry for love, not for any green or gold.âÂ
I agree. I know this full well. Iâm not one to be stingy or greedy by any means. I donât want to be an actress in a picture show or model for a beautiful Channel garment. And though I do want love in my life, I want a secure future. I am the middle child of middle-class farmers. The best match I could have made besides this one was with a cattle farmer or a man who works in the stockyards on the south side of Chicago.Â
Itâs selfish for me to do this not only for myself but to my mother as well.Â
But, I am here and like my family, I will be fiercely loyal to the man I will call my husband. If not, call me a bold-faced liar and take me and my words to the grave.Â
Jonathan Suh is not a bad man for who he prefers in the sheets. I know that and have never felt such a way to treat someone less of me if they do prefer the company of one sex over another. I will not break the promise Iâve made to him, but I cannot help but feel like a songbird trapped in a tight, metal cage for the decision Iâve made to help him.Â
-
Due to the poor weather Chicago has currently come down with, the wedding has been postponed until further notice.Â
When I wired my family to tell them the news, my mother answered. I was a bit more than surprised that she almost sounded relieved when I told her the news. I promised I would wire soon and my younger sisters begged me to take them to the city to go shopping at Marshall Fields. My father sounded passive at first when the telephone wire was transferred to him by my youngest brother after he told me the family cat, Cheshire, had gone missing.Â
Truth be told, I am also more than happy to exhale a breath and not worry about someone questioning me about my upbringing. Or having Mrs. Suh and the don of high-class ladies and waist-coated men galloping around every breath I take.Â
I can finally relax, I think as I pull out a book in the study as Jonathan reads the Chicago Tribune on the couch across the way from me. We get along well, I realize. Silence suits us both. No tricks, not faking our way through hordes of important people. We have to conserve and save our energy for when we face the people mercilessly wanting to know everything and anything about us, good oleâ Jonathan and I...Â
No, not Jonathan anymore⌠I am to be his wife, and he...myâŚ
I peer at him from over my book on flowers, losing interest in the pages.Â
Can I really pretend we are to be an item forever? Will one of us crack or slip up? It seems like we are stuck in a circle now, both of us floating in a pool of choices we will surely drown in.
Tap. Tap. Tap.Â
Someone knocks at the door, plucking me from my fever of thoughts. I fully peer over the pages in my hands, pretending like I was in fact engrossed in the origin story of an author I enjoyed as a girl.Â
âEnter.â Jonathan says without skipping a beat, not looking up from his black and white ink. His eyes scan the pages, following the drumming beat of the grandfather clock next to the roaring fireplace. But, now that I study him closer, Iâm unsure if he was actually reading or just musing to himself like I was moments ago. Â
âThe post, sir.â Butler James reports as he opens the door, my handmaiden Emily gliding up to us with a silver plate in her hands.Â
âThank you, Emily.â Jonathan gives her a half-smile as he takes the single envelope off the tray, slicing it open with trepidation. Â
I look at the blood-red colored wax seal as he flips the paper, revealing a knight chess piece glaring upside down at me.Â
Jonathan scans the letter passively at first, his orbs lazily scanning the pages, then suddenly his eyes ignite with rage behind them. âNo.â He says softly, red flushing to his handsome face. He rips the paper up into shreds then, aggression and hatred oozing from every pore for some unknown reason. He gets up as he throws the scraps in the fire with vigor as butler James, Emily, and I all stare at him like heâs grown a second head. âDonât you dare go.â He warns me, irises blaring with unmeasurable loathing. âThose people are dangerous.â Jonathan practically snarls as he exits the room in a fit of rage, stomping down the hall as we look on stunned and slack-jawed at what had just happened.Â
From what I can tell, Jonathan isnât one to get upset easily or lash out so that letter must have set him off. But what could it have been?
It really has sparked my curiosity, thatâs for certain.Â
Where wasnât I supposed to go and who was so dangerous?
-
I got the answer the next day as I read a book about traveling the jungles of South America.Â
âMiss!â My handmaiden whispers like a hiss as she enters the study. âMiss!âÂ
âYes, Emily?â I smile, putting my book down as she flutters to my side in a nervous frenzy. âWhat is the matter?âÂ
âI snagged this from the post, miss.â She hands you the letter you saw the previous day with Jonathan, the one that he got enraged over. âPlease open it quickly, miss, before the butler spots it! They want us to destroy anything with this seal on it!â
I do as I am told, opening up the letter addressed to both Jonathan and myself with the odd wax seal to find an invitation inside.

âHow curious...â I muse as my eyes trail over the letter over and over, wondering what has Jonathan all in a panicked rage. âWell, I donât even know where âThe Rabbit Holeâ is so I shanât be going.âÂ
âTisâ a speakeasy, Miss.â Emily says her eyes wide as she reads the paper with you. âThey say itâs the most fun one in all of downtown!â She giggles. âShall I fetch you a gown for the ball?âÂ
âNo.â I shake my head with a small smile, hanging her back the letter. âIf Jonathan said he doesnât want me to go, I wonât.â I pick up my book as she slightly deflates, wanting to paint me up for the festivities I was invited to. âPlease burn this now, Emily, so you donât get in trouble.â
âRight away, Miss.â Emily bows a little before she heads out of the room, leaving me to daydream in the middle of the study in peace.Â

âHow long must we wait?â Jungkook pesters Seokjin tirelessly who looks down from his wooden pedestal in the back room of the very peculiar club. âI am afraid a letter and her dreams are not going to cut it.â Jungkook snorts, frustration flashing in his red eyes.Â
âMm, yesâŚâ Seokjin rubs his chin with his white gloved hand, âJohnny boy has been hiding our little Alice away from our prying eyes, hasnât he?â
âYes!â Jungkook stomps his foot like that of a child, fists balled into tight fists at his sides. âAnd I was promised a maiden for all the hard work Iâve done for you!âÂ
Seokjin laughs darkly then, the sound echoing off the walls of his private chambers. âJungkook, Iâm not sure if you understand that poisoning people and taking out a few smaller families in our beloved city is considered hard work.â He stops then, Seokjinâs usually light voice dripping with malice when he says, âBut, I suppose this is one way to end the Suhs and get the last jewel on the crown you are desiring in your attempts to rule the city.âÂ
âIs everything in place for the ball?â Jungkook grits his teeth as he stares up into the man who could end him in one go, but is choosing to help the young gangster. âYour magic wonât fail us now?â
Seokjin winks at him, spending him a flying kiss as he says, âIt's going to be dreadfully delightful.â Ending the Suhs, managing to take out some more people in big crime families in Chicago, and adding one more perfect woman to his growing collection of pawns.Â
Sure, he was mad and about to destroy several lives in the process, but hell if he wasnât half brilliant and good looking while doing so.Â
-
âMr. Jeon!â I gasp as I peer at the man at my penthouse doorstep, covered in white flakes of heavy, wet snow sticking to his black trench coat and bowler hat. Everyone, even most of the maids were out this afternoon which is why I find myself in front of the door to the penthouse.Â
âGood evening, Y/L/N.â Jeon Jungkook smiles as he looks down at me earnestly. âIs your future husband not at home?â He whispers as he looks around the empty foyer, red-rimmed eyes glancing over the dim electric lights in the hallway.Â
I flush. My mind was hazy remembering my kiss with him and the other man that is never far away, Kim Seokjin, from the depths of my dreams. My dreams need to leave me be or I may turn into a codfish with the way they keep my head spinning. They haunt me so, the way my brain demands my nightmares to be replayed over and over like this.Â
âIâm afraid not, he said heâd be out for the night, taking care of something important at the office.â I say with a fake sigh, shaking my head. Truthfully, heâs been acting very strange lately and I can't quite put my finger on the reason for his odd behavior. Ever since he got that letter⌠Come to think of it, I havenât seen any post since that strange night. Iâll ask Emily about it in the morning.Â
âI see.â Jungkook says softly. The grandfather clock chimes from the sitting room and I am suddenly aware of what time it is. Iâm severely underdressed in my baby blue lounge attire, completely ill-prepared for meeting company. Books about faraway lands with princes and kings were the only thing occupying my time this evening and Iâm embarrassed to even think that. âIn that case, your outfit will just have to do, I supposeâŚâ
Jungkook suddenly steps closer to me in one long stride, closing the gap between me and him. My heart skips a beat, his pupils dilate, my words run dry as he snakes one arm around my back, the other holding my chin with his thumb and forefinger.Â
âMr. Jeon-â I stammer, unable to call for help, now that this man has me in his grasp.Â
âI have been willing you to come and follow me, to give into your darkest desires, but still you resist me.â The young man hisses down at me, brows knit with confusion. âYou are the only thing anyone talks about and I cannot stand it any longer.â My mouth hangs open. His nostrils flare as he makes his move. âYou will be mine. Not locked away in this tower while Johnny is out and about with another man. You will be our new Alice.â
Before I can say anything, he pours a vile from his pocket into my mouth, holding it above my arms so I canât smack it away. It tastes like roast turkey and strong alcohol and I try to claw and get away but I cannot as Jungkook holds my mouth open; my tongue feels numb and my arms feel like jelly, going limp in Jungkookâs arms. The only thing I can remember before completely blacking out is the little tag on the side of the bottle that says âDRINK MEâ, tied with a pink ribbon hanging from the tiny glass and the smell of his cologne which reminds me of musk with a dash of black pepper.Â
-
Faint sounds of brass and strings pull me from my unconscious state in a flurry.Â
My brain is working hard, producing series and strings of thoughts. Why did Mr. Jeon Jungkook do that to me? Does Jonathan know where I am? In the same breath, where am I? What was that drink? Have I been poisoned? I look at myself on the red heart-patterned bedsheets. I look fine. There is no sign or feelings that Iâve been harmed, no bruises, and most importantly of all, there is no blood. There is no indicator at all that Iâve been harmed at all, which makes me sigh in relief.Â
But still, where have I been taken? This surely is not a room in the Suh residence.Â
A room with no windows, a giant bed in the middle of the room, large wooden pedestals with various wax candles lit drip down the sides surround me, red velvet curtains drape the walls making the warm room seem even more dim, and a wooden swing all decorate the space I find myself trapped in.Â
I can feel the color drain from my face when I realize that Iâve been here before. In fact, Iâve been here many, many times - almost every night. Not in the flesh but in my dreams. The only thing that is missing are the two men I see every nightâŚ
All the little hairs on my body stand at alert, worry coloring my thoughts, and I feign a small gasp in the large room.Â
With a lump in my throat and my heart thumping so hard I fear it might try to escape my chest, I run from the room.Â
My blue nightgown flutters behind me, time seems to slow as my bare feet carry me through the rooms from my dreams - though itâs backwards this time. I dash like a mad person, twirling and twisting my way through the room with mirrors on every side, seeing myself panting like a dog running so hard in the reflective glass. Though, I am happy to see I have no scratches upon my face either. I run through the room with clocks hanging all over the walls chiming and ticking at different times, springing through the belly of a giant, tall grandfather clock. I trip over the hems of my dress in the room with a long table in the middle which appears to stretch on for miles in this long room. There are various tea sets, cups, and pots along with tea cakes and sweet treats placed in a perfectly chaotic mess on the table as the eyes of various animal heads stare at me from their places hanging on the walls.Â
As I shimmy through the small door leading to the room with the walls full of water and sea creatures from the ocean, I pause my panting and sputtering as I spot Mr. Jung Jaehyun with his back pressed up against the glass. He is moaning, panting himself, a masquerade mask dangling in his hand, legs wrapped around the waist of a tall man in a vest who is rolling his hips sensually into his. My eyes widen as I figure out what the two of them are doing quickly and avert my attention. My thighs rub together, a strange fire grows in my lower abdomen, and I know I shouldnât be looking but there is nothing but pure bliss on Mr. Jungâs face.
I canât stop, I remind myself as my feet continue to carry me through the rooms I know so well.Â
Slinking away across a far wall full of lobsters without being caught, I hear Mr. Jung Jaehyun mewl one singular name, âJohnny!â I want to turn around, catch my âfutureâ husband's side profile as he makes love to another man, confirm itâs him, but my mind flashes back to meeting Jaehyun for the first (and only) time and how they touched each other so fondly. Jungkookâs words ring in my words as I hear laughing coming from beyond the rooms filled with tanks and gilled beasts.Â
Keep going. I can make it out of this place from my nightmares.Â
The next room is filled with more people, though itâs hazy at best in here. There are giant hookah pipes in the middle of floor cushions, people with and without masks on touching each other so unabashedly, some naked, half-nude, or still in their ball gowns all laying over each other in a pleasure-filled party I was slightly jealous I havenât been invited to.Â
âMs. Y/L/N?â A deep yet clear baritone purrs over the sounds of jazz music and groans of love-making. IÂ turn my head to his voice, feet skidding to a halt as I look at Mr. Kim Namjoon in his half-naked glory, navy blue silk robe hanging off his shoulders exposing a lovely chest, half-lidded eyes tracing my form like I am a piece of delicate meat he wishes to indulge in. âWhat are you doing without your mask?â He snaps his fingers, chuckling lightly as he takes another drag of his long silver pipe. âTwins, get her a mask!â
âWhere am I?â I query as I feel the presence of two figures slowly approaching me out of the dim haze. âWho are you people?â It feels wrong to be here, to witness this. It doesnât feel right. I feel out of place and my body is begging me to run and my legs tremble like a fawn.Â
His brows furrow as he takes the tube out of his mouth, blowing smoke rings in my face. âWho are you to question me, Y/N?â He snickers as the âtwinsâ catch my arms, placing a mask over my face as I struggle. âYou are but another âAliceâ to me. Take her to the ball, you two. The rabbit and the hatter are dying to see her, Iâm sure.â They tie the mask around me successfully, leading me out of this room into the next one which I know is the one where the floor is a giant chess board.Â
âPlease,â I plead with the good looking twins who march on like the loyal soldiers to this strange cause, âwhat is all this?â The music and the chatter and maniacal laughing is growing louder as we prance down the hallway with portraits of people who are dressed in all white and all red. âI just want to knowâŚâ
âSuppose we ought to tell her?â The taller of the two says after a moment of silence between the three of us.Â
âSuppose we ought not to.â The shorter one shakes his head as he carries on in the quest to take me somewhere. âBoss will be mad.â
âYou are to be the belle of the ball.â The taller one says with a viscous boxy grin.
âThe new âAliceâ.â The short one with fluffy lips nods this time.
âEveryone keeps saying that, but I donât know what it means?â I say as I hold my breath, about to waltz into the strange chess-board-like room.Â
âThe most beautiful, wonderful, talented, special, magical-â The taller twin rambles on.
âThe most perfect woman at The Wonderland Ball is called âAliceâ until the next one.â The shorter one states softly as he inhales a giant breath. They both let me go, pushing me forward as the drapery of the simple heart-patterned curtain gives way and I am standing at the top of a grand staircase while hundreds of people from below all gasp and stare up at me.Â
As soon as I regain my footing a spotlight hits me and causes me to shield me eyes away from the bright light bearing down upon me. The upbeat music falls silent and I am acutely aware that I am standing here in my loungewear and not properly dressed to be at the forefront of attention this evening.
âAnd now the moment youâve all been waiting for!â The voice that makes my hair stand up on end purrs as his lush lips soothe the microphone on the little stage theyâve set up for the jazz band to play on. Kim Seokjin, my eyes lock with his which dance with mischief, his smile greedy, dressed to the nines in a rich green suit. âThe crowning of the belle of the ball, the apple of all our eyes, the one that shines brighter than anyone in the picture shows, Ms. Y/N Y/L/N!âÂ
A roar of cheering, clapping, and brass music erupts as a white haired-man with a stretched, gummy smile that doesnât fade takes my hand and leads me down the black and white staircase. The noises seemingly die in my ears as the man on my arm says nothing, grins like a cat about to catch a mouse in its claws. Time slows, people moving and waving at me become a blur as I see who is waiting at the bottom of the staircase.Â
Mr. Jeon Jungkook.Â
The man on my arm notices how tense I am and he ever so slightly turns his head and says to me in a deep voice, âThey are not going to harm you. Jungkook is infatuated with you.â My cheeks heat up. âSeokjin is helping him accomplish his dreams because he signed his life away to the servitude of others for as long as he shall live.â
âSigned his life away?â I breathe, eyes never leaving Jungkook in a white waistcoat.
âYou canât get something for free in this world.â The cat-like man growls as we are almost there. âYouâve heard of an eye for an eye, correct?â I node slightly. âA soul of servitude so he can produce strange magic, according to him and the Red Witch of Underland.âÂ
My heart nearly stops realizing what has happened. âThe devil?â
âBingo, babe.â The cat-man chuckles a deep rasp, sliding his arm away from mine. âHave fun.â
âNow you kids have fun chasing rabbits!â Seokjinâs voice crackles through the microphone. âEveryone, enjoy the last few hours of the wonderland ball!â More hooting and hollering echoes in the building as I am exchanged into Jungkookâs strong arms.
âI thought youâd never make it.â He smiles from under his white mask at me. He takes my hand and leads me to be embraced on the dance floor. Seokjin smirks at us as he begins to sing a popular pop song everyone swoons at.Â
âWould you like to tell me what this is all about?â I query with a sneer on my lips. âWhy am I here? Why have you poisoned me?â
âI have not nor would I ever harm you.â Jungkook grips my waist tighter. âI merely gave you a strong sedative so that I could bring you to our wonderful palace.âÂ
âWhy?â I question as he twirls me around his outstretched arm.
âBecause from the moment I bumped into you, you have been the only thing consuming my mind.â He earnestly tells me, sorrow coating his eyes. âIâm not sure what trap Johnny has ensnared or tricked you in but I very much hate seeing him lock you away from the world.â
âYouâre wrong.â I state angrily, glaring at him.
âHe doesnât care about you. He likes to frolic about with diplomatsâ sons, not farmersâ daughters.â Jungkook smiles at me.Â
âThatâs not trueâŚâ I mumble, my eyes looking away from his red-rimmed ones boring down upon me. âI-I am marrying Jonathan for my own personal reasons.â
âOh, ho?â Jungkook softly chuckles, leaning over, turning my gaze back to him as he gently caresses my cheek. âDo you really believe that, darling?â
âI do...I do! I-I came here willingly.â I tremble, my facade Iâve been trying to convince myself of this whole time crackling under the pressure of his words. âI l-loveâŚâ My words linger as I look beyond Jungkook, looking up to see, â...JonathanâŚâ walking toward myself in the middle of the dance floor.Â
âJeon!â Jonathan says, Mr. Jung Jaehyun trailing behind him, eyes wide and scared when they find mine. The male in the waistcoat holding me turns his head to the noise, the brass music climaxing, the gasps of people Jonathan is stepping between couples dancing in the soft electric light from above - I feel like my heart is going to burst. My future husband pulls his arm back, fists clenched, ready to hurt Jungkook, and with an exhale I close my eyes fearing the worst was about to ensue.Â
The electric lights in the strange ballroom give out in the same second.Â
People scream all around me, a loud thud is heard and I feel like something unexpected is about to occur, the atmosphere heavy and full of invisible pressure.Â
âRelease the jabberwocky!â A voice echoes as chaos ensues.Â
âCome with me.â A voice purrs, ripping me away from Jungkookâs arms. I feel almost empty as shouting and yelling break out in the middle of the dance floor. âI will protect you, Y/N, my crown jewel.â My stomach pits hearing him say my name, tickling my ear like the serpent that led Eve to eat the apple of her demise.Â
Kim Seokjin.
With a snap of his fingers, we are back in the room I started out this evening in and where my dreams always have me end at. I land on the bed in a huff and he ends up sitting upon the swing, looking at me with a triumphant smirk on his luscious lips. There is a certain air about him now that doesnât seem so threatening, so serious now for some reason. Perhaps itâs him sitting upon the swing like that of a child? I havenât the slightest clue.Â
âWhere am I?â I demand, glowering at Seokjin from across the way.
âCuriosity often leads to trouble, my dearest Y/N.â Seokjin chuckles darkly, eyes roaming my body, a knowing look on his features. âI think before your marriage you are looking for a little trouble, if you catch my drift.âÂ
TroubleâŚ
My mind completely spirals remembering the scenes of people entangled with one another, their mouths working in tandem with each other, their slippery pink tongues entwined in a passionate battle for dominance. Mr. Jung Jaehyunâs face twisted in pleasure, moaning and mewling as his lover - my future husband - was thrusting vigorously.Â
A lightbulb finally goes off in my head.Â
âYou want me to give into you both then my dreams will end?â My voice shakes as I query to Seokjin who continues to lightly push back and forth on the swing. âThen you will let me leave?âÂ
His eyes flicker with a hungry vigor to them, gleaming in the dim candlelight. âPrecisely.â His soft voice cuts the atmosphere like a sharp blade, leaving me with a chill radiating down my spine. âLetâs have some fun, âAliceâ.âÂ
âAs long as you promise I am to be set free from all of...this.â I gesture around the room as he makes a come hither motion with his fingers at me. Â
âYou have my word.âÂ
Somehow, I donât believe him, but I am desperate for any way out of this wretched place I can find.Â
So, I will use the body I was blessed with to the fullest extent. Â
I am a loyal woman. I step toward the man on the swing, my hands coming up to the ties around my chest and my waist. His eyes spark with a ravenous hunger in the depths of his orbs. I know that I am not doing a decent thing. Seokjin snaps his fingers again, all his clothes disappearing but his green top hat, vanishing before my very eyes. I know I am more than what I am succumbing to right now. But my stomach does feel hot and my thighs rubbing together is making me feel faint for some reason. My garments fall to the floor in a soft patting sound and I lose my breath in the same moment.
Donât tell me I actually want thisâŚ?
I stand in front of him on the swing and I canât help but bite my lip as my eyes roam his pale figure, tracing down his collarbones to his sculpted abdominal muscles he has been hiding. Did he sell his soul to the devil to become handsome too I wonder?  Â
âSo beautiful.â He revels looking at me unabashed, a wolfish grin spreading across his pretty face. Part of me wants him to touch me, to caress the underside of my breast, to trace the outline of my hips with his fingertips, but he doesn not.Â
I have to remind myself this isnât for me. This is for the man that has been tormenting me.Â
âGet me ready for you.â Seokjin commands, smirk still spread across his face. I comply, dropping to my knees to be faced with a large member swinging forth from the middle of his legs on the swing. âAnd you will address me as âSirâ, understand?â
âYes, sir.â I respond, biting my lip as I look from his eyes to his member once more.
âSuck.â He chuckles lightly, pointing to his middle and I canât help but follow this simple instruction.Â
I donât tease him, though Iâm not really sure I know what I am doing in the first place. I swirl the flat of my tongue over his mushroom-tipped head several times. He moans in response, his hands coming off the swingâs ropes to hold my hair from my face as I swallow him further down my wet cavity. My middle aches and pulses, empty, missing something as I steady myself against Seokjinâs thighs.
âGood little girl.â Seokjin hums, his sound voice making me feel appreciated. The sound vibrating through to my own middle, making me groan around him.
I bob my head up and down his long length, enjoying the way he hums and gasps in response to my efforts. Itâs a little hard to breathe I think as I continue my pace, nose hitting Seokjinâs pubic bone, smelling the most intimate part of him.
My dominant hand grabs his member at the base, working him in tandem with my mouth. Up and down his thick member I go, reveling in every twitch and rumble that flies out of his throat. The swing starts to sway with my rhythmic movements, bobbing him back and forth with vigor, tears climb to my eyes. The tip of him hits the back of my mouth, making me gag and choke on his wonderful cock. The heat was pooling in the middle of my stomach and I fear I am going to lose my mind. I pick up the motions of my mouth and hand, tears skating down my pinkened cheeks, his grip tightening around the base of my skull, digging into my scalp.
It burns⌠But, I also enjoy it. This feeling...so wet and tight and I feel so evil and sinful but the pleasure is driving me mad.      Â
âBaby girl.â Thereâs warning in his tone as I pop off his cock in an instant, looking up to him with big worried eyes. His head was leaned back, not focused on looking directly at myself, but the feeling of my lips and fingertips. âUp.â He commands once more, head twisting back to a comfortable position to stare at me.
I scramble to my feet, missing the feeling of him in my mouth already, not to mention aching for him in the middle of my legs. I rub my thighs together for some easy friction, knowing that it wonât help me much at this point.
Seokjin moves his hand to stroke against his giant member in his palm and I lock my orbs in place on the slit of his cock where a clear liquid was oozing out. My mind is truly hazy at best, as I just stand there and watch him stroke himself up and down in a lazy fashion. I bite my lip once more.Â
I do want this. I am almost ashamed to admit that I want this man.Â
âAre you going to be good and let me use you?â Seokjinâs dirty words make my middle pool and contort with more of a raging fire.Â
âY-Yes, sir.â I say again, cheeks hot and damp from sucking his cock moments ago.Â
His nostrils flare, his cock twitches in his grasp as he motions to sit upon his middle. âI bet youâre so wet for me.â He chuckles, smile darkening with his words.                         Â
Seokjin eases me down on his thick member, my hole so wet, so slick, allowing him to stretch my clenching walls in an easy motion. I gasp, eyes popping out of my head. My nails dig into his shoulder blades, back arching with his giant, twitching dick tight inside of me. I wrap my legs around his lean waist, his pale skin flexing in the candlelight with his movements as he stills, letting my hips sink down into the base of his cock.
âBaby girl.â Seokjin purrs, breath tickling my ear as he throbs inside of me. âI need you.â He growls, littering the crook of my neck with sloppy kisses. He positions us just so on the swing, readying us to begin when he deems necessary.
âP-Please use me, s-sir-r!â I mumble in the base of his neck, feeling high on this pleasure-filled pain.Â
âI live to serve.âÂ
I gasp as he starts moving his hips inside of my center, bucking up into my body with a fevered pace instantly. The swing moves back and forth and I feel like the motion is going to make me feel his body sliding in and out of me too well. I cling to him for dear life, my grip surely bruising him or harming him in some way as he slides in and out of my slicked out center at a brutal rhythm.
Tears find my eyes again as he nips at my neck, marking me up with tender love bites. Iâm a howling, moaning mess, losing my sanity. I am finally full of Seokjinâs girth, filling me up beyond desire.
Seokjin kisses my lips then in his, melting our mouths together in a hurry. He holds my face in his palms, grunting and groaning for me, and only me. His tongue enters my mouth in search of something unknown, moaning into my lips laced together with his hot mouth connected with my pink tongue. He rolls his saliva coated tongue into mine in haste, need seeping into my senses, consuming my thoughts as he thrusts up in me, using the swing as a propellant to ease us forward and backward.
âFeels...so-o..good~!â I moan in between our passionate kisses.Â
Seokjin just growls like a feral animal in response. The tip of his cock kisses my cervix continuously, brushing past a spot inside of me that instantly makes me quake. He rockets himself against me, rutting his body against my core in sync with his hips slamming into mine. Seokjin expels filth from his mouth about filling me to the brim with his seed, seeing my stomach swollen and full of his children, his warm breath hitting my ear making me shudder in response.
I canât focus, my climax getting ready to pop at any moment. Wet noises fill the dark room, as Seokjinâs rough speed of his length in and out of my molten, wet center continues. My erect nipples swirl on his pale chest, circling quickly as he bounces me up and down his giant cock, swinging through the air like some sexual trapeze artist.
âAre you going to be good to me?â He asks me, smirk present in his tone, pace almost blinding now as he pushes in and out of me with a need so heavy and strong I can practically smell it rising from his skin. âAre you going to let me fill you up, my little doll?â Seokjin snarls into my skin.
âPleaseeeee!â I practically scream, eyes flying open as he hits my center at just the right spot that makes me see white.Â
âAh-ah!â He tsks. âWhat do we say?â
âPlease, sir!â I mewl and gasp, thighs quaking in his hold, my juices squelching out of me as he continues to thrust into my sensitive molten core. âSeokjin!â I cry while he growls into the scorching skin of my neck inhaling sharply as he slams his hips into my shivering body. âSir!â
Seokjin grunts, cock spurting his seed into me with a need so raw, so feral he finds his footing hard to maintain on the swing, stilling us from moving about, holding my hips tightly down upon him. He sucks harshly on my skin as he too shudders and grunts, biting down on the crook of my neck, stretching my clenching walls around his member as he fills me with his hot white seed.
My cries of pleasure fill the small room, my pleasure-filled haze coming to a close as Seokjin shifts us - still joined together - to the bed in the middle of the room. I hold onto Seokjin as he keeps his seed inside of me, feeling like I just had the ride of my life on top of him. My climax dies down, my first high fading away, fog around my brain being lifted temporarily as my nails rake over shoulders Iâve definitely marked up.Â
A cool, damp towel appears with a wave of his arms, stroking my middle with it delicately cleaning up the mess Iâve made. âHow does it feel to be connected with the devil?â Seokjin sneers as he pulls out of me, making my center ache and twitch for him.Â
My eyes grow wide and my lips part but before I can say anything Jungkook bursts in the room.
âAm I late?â Jungkook pants as he looks awestruck by me on the bed.Â
âFor a very important date.â I gaze back to Seokjin who is now fully dressed, smirking that soft, playful smile like he usually does at Mr. Jeon. âDonât worry, I was just getting her ready for you, Jungkookie.âÂ
Jungkook eyes him with narrowed orbs, but buys the lie Seokjin is selling and proceeds to strip himself of his white waistcoat. âWhat is on the menu tonight?â His red-rimmed irises bore into mine and I feel self-conscious suddenly. He circles the bed in the manner like that of a wolf would as he finishes stripping himself of any dressy garments, though his slacks remain on.Â
 âThe one you most desire out of everything in this world.â Seokjin purrs, stepping up to take his seat on his pedestal high above us.Â
Is he going to watch us?
âFuck,â Jungkook growls, dropping to his knees in front of the bed suddenly. He pulls me closer to him by my ankles, throwing my thighs apart so my center is exposed to him in the rawest form. He stares at my glistening middle as I try to close my legs with a little, pathetic whimper.
âDonât.â The rabbit-like man moans wantonly, holding onto my ankles loosely. âFuck, youâre so beautiful, you know that, right?â His hands glide up my thighs achingly slow, holding me in pace for his eyes to ravage as they please.
The fire in my lower stomach has returned, hungry and ready to go for more.
His warm fingertips make it to my inner thighs, kneading the flesh there tenderly, so close to my throbbing core that I almost beg him with a cry to dip down into me, but I refrain, hanging on to every trace or brush of his hands against my scorching flesh.
âWhat do you want, my darling?â He groans into my inner thigh, lips ghosting my sensitive flesh there, inching closer to my heated skin with his upper body.
âPlease.â I finally ask, begging, almost choking out the word, forgetting Seokjin watching us from above.
His dominant hand finally finds my nether lips, tracing them up and down with his two longest fingers but not exactly touching me where I am aching quite yet. âPlease what?â He teases, stroking me up and down slowly, holding his feral gaze in mine, amber eyes seemingly on fire.
âPlease, Jungko-â
He slaps my middle with little force or malice behind it, but I jolt, mewling aloud, wanting him to secretly do it again.
Jungkook goes back to tracing my lips in the middle of my body, smug smirk seated on his devilishly handsome face. âYou are so wet, darling.â He slaps me again, though this time I want it more than Iâd actually care to admit.
âJung-â I choke on my words.
He slaps me again, this time with slightly more force behind his fingertips. I hiss out a breath, staring at him with my mouth slightly ajar, brows turned up, looking down at him with half-lidded eyes already.
âI have to have a taste.â He kisses my inner thigh as he slowly traces his thumb over my slicked out folds.
I let out a wanton cry as he hums into my thighs, growling low and deep. I swear thereâs a smile in his voice as he works with his mouth and fingertip in tandem. âMine.â He breathes, sucking on the sensitive flesh of my innermost thigh, marking me with a throaty growl.
âJ-Jungkook..!â
I am a mess. I let loose a series of pants, breathless moans as he works my coil in the pit of my stomach tighter with every brush or groan he grants my hot body. I am melting under Jungkookâs touch, my body feeling sticky, arousal dripping from my middle while he circles my delicate clit.
His thumb was increasing his pace of gliding over my bundle of nerves, still slow, still making my breathing become erratic, but the desire for Jungkook to do more was driving me insane. Iâve had a taste of sex and look at me wanting more. I didnât know if I could be in the position to ask for more. But I wanted him to place those perfect, beautiful sinful lips on my molten core. Jungkookâs breath fans over my middle as he continues to stroke me down there.
I miss the twitch confined to the middle of his pants from the man watching us from above with eager need.Â
As if sensing my need, his tongue swipes a slow stripe through my folds, the cool of his muscle against my exposed center making me black out for a moment, the sensation far too much for me to bear with right now. His snort of laughter brings me back to reality as he swirls his pink tongue at my empty entrance.
Jungkook laps at my folds as if he is a starved man, hungry, desperate for his next meal. I keen, gripping onto the base of his golden torso as laps at me. Iâd think grounding myself on top of Jungkookâs head would make me saner, gripping his strands of hair as he goes to town in my middle. But really, it makes me feel completely mad, like Iâve gone insane.
The feral, untamed animal-like noises that escape his throat drive me absolutely wild, my skin on fire with need and want. My nails cling to his scalp, dragging him closer to my middle as he ravages my core. He maneuvers his two longest fingers through the glossy slick, lubing his digits to breach my entrance.
âJungkook!â I gasp, choking on my words as he makes a come hither motion with his fingers, splitting my velvet walls to open for him.
Jungkook swirls his tongue over my little pearl of sensitive nerves, lapping and sucking my flesh like he's never eaten a thing in his life. He continues his very audible growling and moaning, husk in his voice incredibly thick.
âLet go, baby.â He coos into my middle as I jolt and shake, his digits brushing past the most delicious spot deep inside of my clenching walls. âGive me your release.â
His words finally tip me over the edge.
I tighten my hold on him, gritting my teeth in the process. My head falls backward on the sheets, eyes screwed closed as Jungkook slurps every inch of my middle clean, not leaving anything to go to waste.
âKookie,â I sputter out, the feeling of his tongue and fingers becoming too much for me. âI-Iâm c-c-cumming-!â
As I say the last of my words, the world comes undone around me for the second time today, my tight coil finally popping. Blinding white stars coat my vision for a second, my body shivering and shaking as I drip out onto the flat of Jungkookâs tongue.
He laps up my sensitive hole up with more snarls, more feral noises escaping his body. Tears flow down my face as I unhinge my nails from his silky blonde strands, trying to push him away from my overly sensitive flesh with pathetic mewls of protest escaping my throat.
More. My brian prompts me to continue to sate my undying lust burning inside of me. I need more.
âJungkook,â I beg while his tongue still explores my throbbing hole, giving my sensitive skin rapt attention. âJungkookie. Please. I c-canât.â I tug at his blinde hair gently, trying to get him to stop teasing me with his tongue.
He doesn't stop and I can only think of one thing to ask before I lose my damn mind with him between my thighs.
âJungkook.â I shudder, high building up once more. âPlease fuck me.â
Everything in the room stills, the only sound heard was our heavy breathing.Â
He looks up from my sensitive core, brows knit together as he looks into my eyes with such a passionate gaze of uncertainty. My juices were coating the bottom half of his face, his blonde hair is in a state of disarray, as he proceeds to slowly rise to his feet, looking over me on the bed.
âWhat?â He questions incredulously down at my fucked out form. Jungkook looks at me as if I am the most fragile thing in the world, as if I would burst into flames at any moment. âMy darling, my love, thereâs no going back if we-â
âI know.â I smirk up to the gorgeous gangster in all of the Windy City. âI want this too.â
His nostrils flare, his eyes widen, and his gaze softens. Jungkook looks down at me with something akin to lust, which makes my heart rate increase...
âUp.â He commands, raw husk pouring out of his tone as he starts to undo his pants, the zipper noise almost jarring in the quiet of the night.
I do as Iâm told. Iâve fallen far down the rabbit hole now, I think as I shift on the bed. Standing was a little difficult as heâs just given me one of the best feelings Iâve ever had. I keep my eyes glued to Jungkook. His hands travel sensually down his tiny waist to his slacks he unbuttons. I am gasping, unable to take my eyes off the very beautiful sight of his thick cock bouncing, finally free from the confines of his dress pants. The tip was red and angry, a bead of precum adorning the slit of his mushroom-like head. He was long, girthy, and I want nothing more than it inside of myself at this very moment.
Jungkook grips the base of his cock with his hand while he steps out of his pants, giving his shaft a few pumps up and down while I watch with an open mouth.
âIâve dreamt of this moment for so long.â He confesses softly, reaching for me with his free hand. I inch closer to him, gliding my hands over his defined body, admiring his lithe, yet sturdy frame. My fingers hungrily trace every ridge, every contour of his golden torso. Jungkook was so warm, so wonderful, and I am slightly kicking myself for not giving into him sooner. âTo have you,â he continues, kissing up the side of my neck.Â
âPlease.â I beg him again, eyes flickering back and forth between his.Â
âTurn around.â He leans in to kiss me with passionate need. His lips molding into mine as I cling to him for more. I taste my essence on his tongue which makes me whimper into his strong hold. âIâm going to fuck you now, my love.â
Again, I donât need to be told twice as he guides me to where he wants me, bending me at the waist so my fingers dig into the unkept sheets below, my backside open and exposed to him.
âSo pretty for me.â I hear the grin in his deep rumble. Jungkook slaps my bottom, granting him a hiss to escape my throat. I whine when he does it softly several more times, making my head soar.
I hear him spit before I feel the extra saliva lubricant coat my backside, the cool of his juices combined with mine was driving me up a wall.
âJungkook!â I gasp.
He groans when I call for him, pushing his fat head of a cock at my aching, empty hole, wanting him to finally join the two of us.
âDarling,â he sounds like heâs straining to hold back. âBaby, please, fuck!â He grunts, splitting my walls inch by agonizingly slowly. I moan as he stretches me wide, entering me like he owns me.Â
He thrusts inside of me all the way with one snap of his hips suddenly. A cry leaves my lips along with a strangled one from the man inside of me. My eyes widen as I realize that heâs not going to go easy on me tonight, heâs going to fuck me on his terms. I was in for a wild ride this evening.
Jungkook leans the front of himself over my sticky back, pressing our heated flesh together more, growling to the outside shell of my ear, nipping the flesh under my lobe while sliding in and out of me with a brutal pace heâs set.
âBabyâŚâ he moans in my ear, the deep purr vibrating throughout his body making my breathing hitch and sob. His hips snapping into mine with a rhythm, I swear, no human man could ever achieve. Liquid was flowing down my eyes as the push and pull of Jungkook slamming his giant cock into my velvet folds repeatedly already had me tearing the sheets in two with my nails.
âJung! Ah! Kook!â
Seokjin glides his hand over his cock from above the bed, matching the rhythm Jungkookâs hips produce, enjoying the wonderful show.Â
I gasp this over and over like a prayer falling from my lips. My eyes are squeezed shut, my body hot with the raw purpose to feel Jugnkook inside of my heated center. His cock pushes in and out of me at a fevered pace, making my vision blur, seeing far too many white stars.
My brain is fuzzy as he hits the spot inside of me that blinds me, pleasure swimming in my veins. My third climax was surely on the way.Â
âBaby,â Jungkook grunts, one of his arms snaking up my torso, his long fingers finding one of my bouncing breasts. He starts pinching my erect nipple, holding on to me tighter as we slide back and forth off of one another.
My coil was wound so tight, I donât know if Iâd be able to last much longer. Especially not with Jungkookâs fingers attaching to my hardened nipple, his lips to the crook of my neck, and his cock slamming in and out of my clenching middle with a fevered need.
He bucks into me faster, my walls clamping down on him, my coil about to pop, about to burst forth again. I canât hold myself up any longer, my legs shaking violently. My knuckles are turning white with how hard I am clawing at the heart patterned sheets.
âJungkook! I-â I mewl, but I donât get to finish my thought.Â
In a split second, Jungkook pulls out of my middle, flipping me over and letting me fall onto my back so I could be face to face with him. Jungkook climbs on top of me quickly, wanting to resume his feverish pace immediately, hunger and need in his amber gaze. He settles between my legs, pushing himself back into my slicked out center easily, restarting from where he last left off.
I gasp when he enters me, clinging to his shoulders, holding him while the lewd squelching noises in the room continue to grow, faster, louder. He grips onto my hips, guiding me at a blinding speed I didnât know he could achieve. Is he a victim of the devil as well?
Sweat was pouring off our bodies, my brain unable to produce a sane thought as he grunts and moans my name, his red orbs never leaving my face as he rockets his cock into my folds like it was his job.
It happens again, the very right feeling deep inside of my body, the one that makes me grit my teeth, that makes me see hundreds of tiny white stars.
âJung! Kook~!â I scream into the quiet room, tears flowing from my hues as I card my fingers through his blonde strands, trying to make a purchase on his roots.
My hands travel down his backside as he snarls, âIâm going to make you my wife! Not some wannabe from the Northside!â Jungkook huffs, his movements slowing down, one of his thumbs finding my folds again, circling my aching clit in hurry - a stark contrast to earlier. âIâm going to claim you as my own.â
Seokjin smiles like heâs just won the lottery, masturbating to the sight of both his clients intertwined, fucking onto each other with unbridled lust. He comes then watching his new toyâs back arch, breasts in the air, Jungkookâs frame pounding into her with hungry trepidation.Â
I grab onto the ample flesh of his bottom, feeling the world come tumbling around myself once more. Letting my body shake and quake on top of the sheets, my third orgasm taking me by force. I feel complete - feel whole for some reason. I am so completely taken aback with the storm rippling through my body in pleasureful tremors, one right after the other, I cannot even begin to breathe properly.
He lets a feral snarl rip through his body as he pumps into my leaking middle a few more times, my whole being consumed by Jungkook. He leans over me, sucking my neck colors of purples and dark reds and I scream as his cock swells inside of my velvet walls, releasing his own essence into my womb, holding him there like a vice grip as he spurts his seed deep inside of me.
Once our highs come to a close, I run my fingers through his hair, his throbbing cock still joined inside of my middle. We both pant, holding the other for dear life, finally together, and fulfilled with one other. Jungkook kisses along my jaw, moaning my name, telling me what an amazing baby doll I am as his cock finally softens inside of my aching cunt.
âBravo.â Seokjin claps as he walks down the wooden stairs. âYou both did very well!â He chuckles darkly. I squeak in surprise. I forgot he was there and I scramble to cover myself with the soiled sheets.Â
âOkay, Kim,â Jungkook says as he kisses my nose, pulling out and picking up my clothes and handing them to me. He dresses in his undergarments and dress pants quickly, buttoning them up as he turns to the man all in green. âYou had your show.â I listen as I dress myself with haste, back turned to the two men. âIâve done everything youâve asked: invested the money overseas, gotten rid of the competition and family in this lovely city, got you a new âAliceâ, and even let you watch us play ball. I think itâs time to set us free.â
âYes,â the mad man snickers, darkness clouding his tone, âyou both have served me well. But nobody is leaving my perfectly curated speakeasy.âÂ
I turn around and my heart is dropping to the floor. Shock is written all over Jungkookâs face as I clench my jaw in guilt.Â
âBut, Iâm afraid you both made a deal with me, and I donât give up my new toys so easily.â Seokjin caresses Jungkookâs face in his pale hand, while holding my gaze with a sense of gentle anger. âYou canât always get what you want. But hey, look on the bright side: at least you have each other.âÂ

Changing Tides
A part 2 to Pulled from the Edge... Jacob rescued Bella before she could jump off the cliff, but now her spring break is coming to an end in La Push.
tagging @howlonghaveyoubeenseventeen & @the-most-pathetic-edge-marquis
âI donât wanna go back to school,â Bella complains, slouching against the garage wall. She childishly kicks out her feet from where she sits on Jacobâs makeshift workbench.
Her spring break went by in the blink of an eye. She spent almost the entirety of it in La Push. Her vacation consisted of spending time with Jacob in his garage when he wasnât on patrol, testing new baking recipes with Emily, and having dinner at the Clearwaterâs or at Billyâs house with her father.Â
Bella got used to spending so much time on the rez, she couldnât fathom going back to the humdrum of school. She especially didnât want to go because it meant less time spent with Jacob. That time is already halved because of the pack being on high alert with the Victoria issue; the slim opportunities to hang out are too precious for her to walk away from now.
âWhy canât I just stay here all the time instead?â she continues. With you, she thinks.Â
The plastic board Jacob is laying on creeks under his weight as he carefully rolls himself out from under the Rabbit. The grease stains on his face make Bella giggle.
âHow about this?â Jacob pauses, wiping his face with a rag. âWhat if I pick you up from school tomorrow?â
Hope blossoms in Bellaâs chest. âReally?â
Jacob nods. âYeah, Iâll grace the palefaces with my presence again, and we can hang out in the garage right after school.â
âAnd do homework,â Bella hurries to add.
Jacob rolls his eyes and grudgingly responds, âAnd do stupid homework...â
Bella hops off the bench and holds out her pinkie to him. âSwear on it.â
Jacob pouts, but he hooks his finger with hers. âSure, sure,â he sighs, like itâs a bigger deal than it is.
Bella laughs, and Jacobâs expression cracks as he joins her. Itâs the perfect sound. She doesnât know how sheâs going to get through eight hours of school without it.
When she finally heads back to Forks in the evening, Bella gets to work putting together dinner with Charlie. She has no faith in her father being anywhere near the stove, but heâs perfectly fine chopping up vegetables to roast in the oven while Bella monitors the boiling pasta on the stove.
Charlie clears his throat. âDo you have enough gas in the tank, or do you need some cash?â he asks.
Bella stops stirring the pasta and peaks up at him next to her. âActually, Dad, can you drive me to school tomorrow morning?â
He frowns. âIs the engine light on again? I thought Jake looked at that thing the other dayâŚâ
âNo, he did! The truck works great. Itâs justâŚâ Bella hesitates, chewing on her cheek for a second. âJake is gonna pick me up after school, so I donât need the truck.â
Charlie stares at her blankly for a few seconds. A slow smile buckles his mustache. ââŚYeah?â
Bella reddens and turns her eyes back to the boiling water. âYeah,â she mumbles, suddenly worried about what that sly look on his face is supposed to mean. âWeâre friends, Dad. Friends hang out with each other.â
Charlie tilts his head to the side. âAre you sure you and Jake-â
âRed sauce or white sauce?â Bella interrupts loudly. She is so not having this conversation with him. At this rate, her face will catch on fire.
Charlie blinks in surprise, obviously thrown off by her words. âUh⌠r-red sauce, I guess?âÂ
Charlie scratches his chin with a contemplative look, and Bella hurries to the pantry. She takes her sweet time pretending to rifle through the shelves although she knows exactly where the marinara sauce is. She plucks it from the shelf and tucks it against her chest like a shield when she backs out of the pantry.Â
âItâs okay if you like Jacob, Bells.â
Bella nearly drops the jar on the floor. âDadâŚâ she hisses in warning.
Charlie holds his hands up in surrender. âIâm just saying,â he says quickly. âJacob is a nice boy, and you seem⌠better. With him around.â
Bella bites her lip and doesnât respond, too unnerved to say anything. Somehow he managed to say out loud all the thoughts she was trying very hard not to entertain or look too deeply into. They were friendsâ the best of friends, and that was all they ever could be. Or, at least, thatâs what she thought before...
When Bella still doesnât respond, Charlie returns to chopping and mutters, âJust think about it, kiddo.â
And Bella does, later that night when she boots up her ancient laptop and types up another email to Alice:
Alice, I wish I could talk to you about Jake. He does this magic thing that keeps me together whenever I feel like Iâm falling apart. Jakeâs so good at what he does, itâs almost scary. Heâs like the sun... Iâve never had my own sun before. And I donât remember the last time I felt so warm. Heâs my favorite person in the world.
And thatâs okay now⌠Right?Â
Bella hits send. Seconds later, an error message pops up in her inbox.
! Message not delivered. Delivery has failed to these recipientsâŚ
With a sigh, Bella shuts down her laptop. She stares at the black screen until she gets sick of her reflection and throws herself into her bed. That night, she dreams of mystical wolves running outside of her bedroom window and warm, sunny beaches.
Her first day back to school⌠isnât so pleasant as her dreams. Okay, maybe itâs not the worst, but itâs not great either. Thereâs no Jacob in Forks High.
Bella misses him all day. She even wears his yet-to-be-returned hoodie for support, to fool her senses into thinking Jacob is there, but it can only do so much.
She tries her best to listen to Jessica gush about her spring break with her parents in Cancun and Angelaâs road trip to Salt Lake City during lunch, but the most she can muster is a cued nod and occasionally interject with a âthat sounds amazing!â when someone pauses long enough.
In her final class of the day, Bella spends her time counting down the minutes rather than paying attention to the calculus formulas written on the board. She isnât sure if itâs the huge cup of coffee she chugged in the morning (her body could handle caffeine about as well as a toddler could handle candy) or her eagerness for the school day to be over, but she has a jitter that makes her fingers tap an anxious rhythm against the table.
Angela grabs her hand. âAre you okay?â she whispers. âYouâve been kinda spacey all day.â
âIâm still in spring break mode,â Bella mumbles back.
Angela laughs. âSounds like your break was fun. Whatâd you do?â
âI just hung out with Jake.â
âJakeâŚâ Angela taps her chin until realization washes over her eyes. âAh! He went to that movie with you awhile back, right? When I had the flu?â
Bella nods. âThatâs him.â
Angela hums. âI was wondering where that sweater came from.â
Bella tucks her head, and Angela playfully nudges her shoulder.
The bell rings, and Bella rushes from her seat. She and Angela walk to the exit, and as they get closer Bella can hear the familiar sound of an engine revving. Her heart begins to pound and she speeds up, practically bursting through the door.
She spots Jacob sitting on his black Harley, and the other students gawk at him in the parking lot. Even Angela is stunned.
âThatâs him?â
âIâll see you tomorrow,â Bella says to her in a hurry.
She runs up to Jacob and glances at all the other students staring at the spectacle. âI thought you were gonna pick me up in the Rabbit!â she hisses.
âWhat?â Jacob shouts over the rumble of the motorcycle. He cups his ear and leans over. âI canât hear you!â
Bella knows he can hear her perfectly well. âYou couldâve given me a heads up!â
Jacob blinks at her with innocent eyes. âStill canât hear!â he yells. A grin lights up his face like sunbeams.Â
Bella rolls her eyes, ignoring how her heart skitters for a moment. A face like that shouldnât be allowed. The influence he has simply isnât fair. She sticks out her tongue at him and climbs on the bike behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist.Â
Her face is tucked against his broad back, radiating heat like a furnace, and she breathes in his scent. He smells like home. The hoodie is a poor substitute compared to this.
Jacob revs the engine and peels out of the parking lot with a mock howl. Bella tucks closer to him, screaming with thrill as he races from down the roads of Forks to La Push.
âYouâre insane!â Bella laughs when he finally skids to a stop in front of his garage.
Jacob grins at her over his shoulder. âBut did you have fun?â
âOf course I did!â
ââŚHey, Bells?â She hums in response. âYou gonna sit there all day, orâŚ?â
Bellaâs eyes fly open. She completely forgot she was still clinging to him. âUhâŚâ
âI mean, I totally donât mind, but-â
âNo!â Bella yelps, untangling her limbs and hopping off the bike. Sheâs sure she resembles a tomato by now.
She glances down at his fingers when Jacob tugs on the hem of her (his) sweater. âStill wearing this thing?â he asks lightly.Â
Bella grimaces. âFinders keepers?â
âI donât want it back, Bells. You can keep it forever,â Jacob assures her. She sags with relief. âI have a blue one lying around somewhere if you want that one, too.â
âCareful, Jake. Iâll end up raiding your entire closet.â
Jacob shrugs. âIf thatâs what you want. I run a toasty one-oh-nine. I donât need half the stuff in there anyway.âÂ
He releases the kickstand of the motorcycle and stands with a smile. Her smile.Â
âCâmon, warm soda and homework awaits- oof.â
Bella throws her arms around him and squeezes tight. Jacob doesnât stagger from it, but heâs still surprised. He pressed his hand to the back of her head.
âYou okay?â
Bella nods, her ear firmly pressed against his heartbeat. âI missed you.â And his smile. His presence. Everything.
Jacob chuckles, bringing his other hand to her back and rubbing circles that make her want to melt. âAw, BellsâŚâ He pats her head. âLet me show you something.â
He walks her inside the garage and pulls her toward his workbench. He opens the third drawer, clenching something in his fist.Â
âDonât laugh, okay? Itâs not the prettiest thing, but Iâve been working on it all night,â he warns.
Bella nods, confused. âOkayâŚâ
Jacob takes her hand and drops the object into her palm. He presses his lips together and steps back.
Bella opens her hand. Itâs a silver chain link bracelet, and a tiny wooden charm hangs from it. She realizes the charm is a wolf, a beautiful one at that, with tiny, intricate details in the fur. The wood is the same russet color as Jacobâs fur.
âJakeâŚâ Bella murmurs, lifting it closer for inspection. âYou made this?â
âJust the charm, not the bracelet,â Jacob says. âIf you donât-â
âI love it!â
Jacob blinks. âYou do?â
âOf course! Itâs perfect. The best thing Iâve ever seen,â Bella gushes. âI canât believe you made this, Jake! I didnât know you could do stuff like this.â
âMy dad taught me.â Jacob blushes. âI donât really talk about it much.â
âWell, you should! This is amazing, Jake. Really, thank you.â Bella pauses. âBut whatâs it for?â
Jacob runs a hand through his hair. Itâs one of his nervous ticks Bella quickly caught on to. When he used to have a ponytail, heâd tug on that instead.Â
âI figured youâd be miserable at school since I couldnât be there so I thoughtâŚâ Jacob takes a deep breath. âI thought that could be like a reminder when you look at it. Like Iâm with you in spirit, or something.â
Bella canât ignore the way her heart skitters now. How did he know her so well?Â
âOh,â she breathes. âWell, now I really love it.â She holds her hand out, pulling back the sleeves that cover her fingers. âHelp me put it on?â
âS-Sure.â Jacob gulps and steps closer.Â
He grasps her wrist with a delicate touch that makes Bellaâs heart do crazy things she canât find a reason for. Surely he can feel her pulse racing through her wrist. Hell, he can probably hear it.
Jacob connects the clasp and rotates her hand. âLooks good.â
Her eyes flicker up to his. âJake?â
âHm?â
Bella throws caution to the wind, leaning up on the tip of her toes to press her lips against his jawâ itâs the highest she can reach. Itâs a chaste kiss, barely there for more than a second, but thatâs all it takes. Her heart kicks into fifth gear when she pulls back.Â
âThanks,â she whispers, buzzing inside and resisting the urge to touch her lips. She canât believe she just did that.Â
She canât believe she wants to do it again.
Jacob stares at her with wide eyes, and his ears are darker than sheâs ever seen before. His gaze pierces her eyes before they travel down to her lips and linger there for far too long. His eyes say a million things that he wonât say out loud.
Thank goodness, because Bella doesnât think she can say anything either.
Jacob eventually steps back and clears his throat. Still, his voice comes out high-pitched when he asks, âSoda?â
Bella nervously wipes her hands on her jeans. Her face is undoubtedly as red as his ears. âSure,â she chirps.
The air feels charged for the rest of the afternoon, and they tiptoe around each other as they do homework in the garage until Charlie swings by with a pizza for dinner and drives Bella home.
Bella lays in bed that night, holding a hand against her heart that still wonât calm down.
She canât stop thinking about how his skin was so warm, so inviting against her lips⌠And she canât help but wonder if his lips would feel just the same⌠or better.
Bella snatches a pillow from beneath her head and throws it over her face. First she laughs, and then it trails off into a whine as she kicks her feet against the mattress in a brief tantrum.
âOh, crap,â she groans. What is she supposed to do now?

Imagine (Ęá´Ęâż)
Head empty just Bennett and Razor spending time together with you adventuring the wild.
But we all know shit never go the way we wanted.
Summary: You spend your time with Bennett and Razor while helping them get out of trouble.
Ship: Bennett x gn!reader, Razor x gn!reader
You just want to get some sticky honey roast at Good Hunter but Razor come out of no where and drag you with him.
Razor? Why he's in Monstadt, you ask? Oh don't worry about him, he also got drag by Bennett to get you (â âżâ)
Once he got you, he run right to get Bennett. (He want to get out of the city as soon as possible, he just can't help it okay? ( ďźâďź))
Bennett, check âď¸
You, check âď¸
Now let go adventuring!!! (âŻá´âŻ)
All of you just run around and you guys don't even realize that all of you stray too far and end up in Thousand Wind Temple.
And there's a freaking damn Ruin Guard walking around and you guys don't want other choice but fight.
Well, good thing you bring your bow with you. It'll be far more hard if you forget to bring it along.
Good thing the bad luck haven't hit you guys for a bit (except for the ruin guard part. But you consider it as lucky since you need the device core.<( ̄︜ ̄)>)
Bennett: Be careful guys! It's a ruin guard!
Razor, ready with his claymore: I... Help protect!
(Y/N), aggressively shoot arrow at it's core: DESTROY IT! I NEED THE DEVICE CORE!!!
After all these thing all of you when for a hunt,
Razor:*sniff* I... Smell rabbit. Let's hunt!
Bennett, run after Razor: Razor wait for us!
(Y/N), run after Bennett: BENNETT! RAZOR! COME BACK! THERE'S BOAR RIGHT NEXT TO BOTH OF YOU!
Adventuring with Bennett and Razor can be quite choastic. So you do know what you're suppose to do, right? Right? Right! ( âšâ˝âš )
When you're having lunch together with them you better be prepared for the hard part.
Since, Razor drag you away the moment you want to get some sticky honey roast, you need to cook for it.
(Y/N): Bennett, you don't have to worry about the food. I'll take care of it.
Bennett: If you need anything, I'll try my best to help.
(Y/N): Thank you, Bennett. And Razor, DON'T!
Razor, try to have a bite of the food: Razor.. just want to.. try..
Bennett: Razor, it's not ready yet!
Razor: I'm little hungry.
(Y/N): just a few more minutes. Please wait a little bit.
Razor: I will wait.
Bennett: THE FOOD!
(Y/N): NO!!!
It's almost burn but good thing it's just a little.
They eat to their fullest anyway. It's made by you so they'll eat it.(ă¤â§Ďâ§)ă¤
When it's about night time, you guys will go to your separate ways if you live in the city of Monstadt you're going back with Bennett and drop Razor at Wolvendom since it's where he live.
Bennett: Okay, Razor. We'll meet each other again tomorrow!
(Y/N): I'll bring sticky honey roast with us the next time you bring me along.
Razor: Can't wait. Meet tomorrow!
It's nice spending time with them even though sometimes there are people who have their freaking damn audacity to talk shit about our boysಠ︾ŕ˛
But since you're there no one dare to talk shit about them,
Random NPC: What the--!? Out of all people why does I have to cross path with you, Bennett?!
Bennett: Haha, I'm sorry--
Razor, panicking: (Y/N)---!! Calm!! Calm!!!
(Y/N), holding a claymore: Razor, sit down! I need to aim well!
It's a nice time. Even though that person get away with Bennett's plead for you to give them some mercy.
Now, everyone know that they shouldn't mess with Bennett when you're around.
When you're not around you ask?(ŮĽâź_âź)
This is our precious boy, you know what I mean? (. â á´ â.)
That one npc, sweating nervously:
Npc no. 2: hey what's wrong?
That one npc: someone send me a gift
Npc no. 2: hey that's a good thing you know! What's so wrong about that?
That one npc: it's right after I accidentally mock Bennett and that wolf boy.
Npc no. 2, processing: oh...
Npc no. 2, realize: Oh... Shit... Good luck.

How did Dalton react when he saw the famous Kathy interview with Niel Kev and Riko? Iâd like to see how he reacted to that and all the post game interviews (especially the iconic Kevin one where he âhas never gone skiing beforeâ). I think Dalton must have come across one interview and just went down the rabbit hole. Maybe even Neilâs roasts?? Sorry this is a looong ask post
no i LOVE this!!
he knows he shouldnât, not unless kevin says itâs okay, but dalton googles kevin after he leaves maryland to go back to south carolina.
it's not like heâs going to find anything bad. and plus, he loves kevin. and kevin loves him. heâd just told him this week for the first time.
the top result is a buzzed article titled âkevin day had a near photoshoot with fans in times square, and weâre definitely jealousâ. below it are the most recent things like him coming out, and videos of him playing.
dalton refines his search. specifically to last spring and fall. his first year stepping onto the foxhole court as a player.
the first thing to come up is an interview with kathy ferdinand, neil josten, and riko moriyama.
dalton knows enough about riko moriyama for it to make his blood boil.
he also doesnât realize that the brunette in the cover photo for the video is neil until he watches him get introduced to the stage. heâs known from the second he saw neil that heâd been through some tough shit, but he didnât realize it was all from last year. the neil in the interview is clean.
also, heâs gawking over neil by the end of the interview. he has to rewatch it to fully get it all. kevinâs talked about neil and his attitude, and daltonâs experienced it maybe once, but holy shit he tore riko moriyama to shreds.
the only reason he isnât laughing at how badass it is is because he can see how traumatized kevin looks. if he hadnât known him, he wouldnât have noticed, but dalton knows his body language by now. seeing him truly terrified with his abuser right there makes dalton want to wrap his arms around him. he wishes he wasnât already back in south carolina.
he runs his hands over his face and reruns neilâs words in his head.
âi donât think youâre telling Kevin to sit out because of his health. i think you know this season is going to be a disaster for your reputation. you and kevin have always played in each otherâs shadows. youâve always been a pair. now you have to face each other on the court as rivals for the first time, and people are finally going to know which one of you is better. theyâre going to know how premature this was. i think youâre scared.â
it gives him more insight on kevin and rikoâs relationship, and while he wishes he never had to see it recorded, heâs glad he does. with the way neilâs talking, it seems like heâd known all about it, too. or else he wouldnât openly be hating on riko the way he was.
after that, and after calming himself down from literally seeing kevinâs abuser and thanking god that heâs dead, he continues on. the majority of the other videos are from press duty after games, and he clicks on a reoccurring one titled âKEVIN DAY NEVER BEEN SKIING???â dalton knows this, and he also knows that the public thought that heâd broken his hand in a skiing accident, so heâs curious enough to click on it.
he gasps so hard. itâs just such a blunt statement that so obviously dumbfounded all of the press trying to interview them.
he keeps going.
and theyâre never-ending
âevery time kevin day yells to neil josten in frenchâ
or â29 times andrew minyard comes up behind kevin day but just stares into the cameraâ
âkevin day being approached by fansâ
âkevin day and riko moriyama speaking japaneseâ he doesnât watch that one.
âcompilation of neil josten being a pain in kevin dayâs assâ that oneâs twenty-eight minutes long.
âkevin day looking stressed every time neil speaksâ
âkevin day yelling neilâs name, except every time he does the pitch gets higherâ
âkevin dayâs fist pump every time they win a gameâ
âi ran into kevin day every time i went to edenâs nightclub last fall and had the same conversation about how to say croissantâs every timeâ thereâs videos from each time, some with the phone camera unknowingly recording him, some with the view of their chins from below, and some of the floor as if she âwasnât recordingâ. he doesnât seem to remember her from before in any of the videos. at the end thereâs 7 pictures of them, with the same pose, all from different nights. drunk kevin is funny.
dalton wishes he could see it, but he knocks that thought right out because heâs proud of kevin for being sober.
âspeaking french with kevin day at the mall: AWKWARDâ that one is from this summer with subtitles at the bottom. the girl goes up to him, and he doesnât seem to see her coming until sheâs in front of him. âbonjour!â kevin says, âoh, hello.â
when she continues in french to ask how his day is he makes the switch. âdo you speak english?â âyes, i just knew you spoke french, sorryâ âoh⌠itâs okay, uh, do you mind not recording me?â she lowers her phone a little. âitâs still recording.â âitâs not, anymore.â âokay, well, iâve got to goâ neil calls him you can see his feet shuffle. âbye.â
then thereâs oneâs where heâs roasting interviewers.

There is no place like home for the holidays (Thank god! One is enough)
Beast Boy closed the door and put his back against it. He had let out a breath he had been holding since they came onto the estate grounds. He slid down the door to the floor in defeat. He should have known better, he should have known that this was going to happen. It's not like these people were going to change since he left. They were not going to put any effort into being better people just because he was doing something as trivial as bringing his girlfriend for Christmas. Still the Doom Patrol was family, and that was what holidays were supposed to be about right?
"You're late." That was Steve's greeting when Beast Boy and Raven came to the front door. No Merry Christmas, no how are you?, or how have you been? Just "You're late." and "Dinner is on the table." As Steve walked away. Leaving them holding their bags standing on the snow covered landing. They were actually almost 20 minutes early but that was late enough for Steve. Then, right then Beast Boy knew he should have grabbed Raven and ran. Rita was a different story and was quickly at the door ushering them inside, trying to warm the cold welcome her husband had given them. It was Rita that had asked them to come, wanting to see them, wanting her family together for Christmas.
It was December 23rd a Friday and a holiday weekend, that is when it started to set in that this might be the longest 72 hours of their lives. Beast Boy knew that bringing Raven home for the holidays was going to be rough, a bit awkward, he just didnât think that Steve's greeting was going to be one of that high points of the evening. Everything went downhill from there.
From the moment they came into the dining room they were bombarded with horrible questions. Negative man kept asking Raven "So what do you see in him?" He repeated the question throughout the meal. Like Raven was going to change her mind since the last time he had asked. When he alternated it with asking Beast Boy "You off that no meat thing yet?"
Robot man was almost as bad, after shaking hands with Raven he asked "So when are you due?" Raven tried to take it in stride but her other hand tightened around Beast Boy's . "Come on, to stick around Jolly Green midget he must have knocked you up?" he said with a laugh. Raven's fingers tighten so hard Beast Boy was sure something cracked in his hand.
"Charming." She said in her monotone.
As they sat down at the table the questions just got worse.
"So are you a Rabbit too, or do you eat real food?"
"How is his training going, been keeping him off the furniture?"
"Has he met your parents yet?"
"The last election was a sham wasn't it?"
"What are you exactly?"
He couldnât remember who asked what, it was coming at them from all sides. It was like a mortar attack of all the things normal people knew better to ask. All Beast Boy could do was look at Raven and try to convey to her how sorry he was with his eyes. It was like they were trying to one up each other, who could ask the absolutely most Inappropriate thing. Raven did her best to stay polite, trying to redirect the conversation and sipping water. Rita tried to cut through the noise, asking about the other Titans, or talking about the holiday plans, but those conversations got lost in the storm of the others awful comments and horrid questions.
The food was not much of a distraction. Roast Beef, a rice pilaf with bits of sausage, and salad drenched in a ranch dressing. Apparently they really did think that being a vegetarian was a phase. This left their two guests a dinner of some steamed green beans and peanut butter sandwiches that Rita made for them on the fly.
Then came the stories that Beast boy had hoped they would have forgotten already, and politics, and more questions. The meal lasted about 15 years, or about an hour and a half depending on your perspective. Neither of the couple ate much, who knew that embarrassment was so filling.
The desert course was an augment about sleeping arrangements. After a lecture about what is proper and how they went to the trouble of getting the guest room ready for Raven and the old chestnut of "No unmarried couples are sleeping together under my roof!" Beast Boy found himself alone in his old childhood bedroom. Raven was ushered off before he could even really say "goodnight" or more importantly "I am sorry".
He sat there staring at the carpeted floor for a while. Eventually he lifted his head up to look around. Cartoon posters, some of his old action figures locked in the same battle he left them in years ago, a dozen other reminders of how young he was when he lived in that room. It was exactly the same as when he left. Beast Boy was not sure how he felt about that. He remembered Robin once telling him that when he went home to Gotham his old room gave him a sense of comfort. This place just reminded Beast Boy that no matter what, to the Doom Patrol he will always be a child. Reinforced by the fact that his bunk bed was made with his old Snoopy bed sheets.
He took off his shirt and let it drop to the floor before laying down on the bottom bunk. His feet stuck out over the end of the mattress by a good 6 inches. He closed his eyes and folded his arms under his head. He had to figure out what to say to Raven to make up for all of this. What could he say? "I am sorry Raven I was raised by horrible people please donât leave me!?" He thought it was a miracle that she put up with his personal brand of bullshit, asking her to put up with his families collective insanity, he half expected her to teleport all the way back to Titans Tower as soon as she was alone.
"What is it with you and bunk beds?"
Beast Boy's eyes shot open and he sat up so fast that banged his head on the bed above him.
"AaaâŚThat sounded like it hurt." Raven said quietly, her head hanging down from the bunk above him. Her head disappeared and she gracefully lowered herself to the ground. She was wearing her night clothes, an oversized T-shirt and cotton pajama pants. Beast Boy didnât know what to say as she joined him on the small mattress.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, messaging his aching forehead.
"Cuddling" She said as she wrapped her arm around his chest. "We have done it before, or did that blow to your head affect your memory?"
"Ha ha, Seriously. We're going to get in trouble."
"Oh yes" she said pulling herself tighter to him . "They might find us and throw us out of here," She softly kissed his bare chest "Force us to go get a hotel room" another kiss just below his collar bone. "Where we could share a bed like we have been doing for the last year now." Her lips touched the base of his neck. "Then the next morning we can get food we can both eat and might even have sex. " She raised her eyes to meet his. "Wouldnât that be awful?"
Beast Boy's smile broke though. "Rae I am-" He couldnât get the words out, she attacked, the kiss was insistent and hungry. Her tongue pushed its way in to caress his. His arms out of pure instinct wrapped around her, his left hand sliding down her back to rest on her ass. What had happened and where they were had started to fade away as she nipped on his earlobe knowing exactly what it would do to him.
"Raven" he groaned out as he felt her teeth gently biting into his neck, a distraction from her free hand undoing his belt
Knock!
Knock!
"Garfield? Can I come in?" Rita was outside the door immediately breaking the two apart, off the bed and onto their feet.
Neither of them thought about teleporting, or shifting or anything that they had practiced or trained for. At that moment they were not superheroes, they were two young people about to get caught. So in a panic Raven hid in the closet and Beast Boy tried to look and sound calm when he said "Come in"
Rita came in wearing a silk robe that went down to her bare feet. "Are you okay?" a look of genuine concern on her face.
"Yea, I mean I am fine" He was trying to stay calm, hoping Rita wouldn't notice that anything was amiss. If she had knocked just a few minutes laterâŚBeast Boy sat back on the bed and tried to appear calm, but if there was a woman on earth walking that knew him as well or maybe better then Raven it was Rita.
"About Dinner, it's just how they are. " She said as she walked over to sit on the bed next to him "They mean well. Is Raven alright? Steve might be a telepath but that man can be cast Iron dense. "
"I hope so. " He said, trying not to look at the closet door with his lover on the other side. His sharp ears could hear Raven's heart jump when Rita mentioned her name.
"Let me make this up to you both. Do you remember that breakfast place we used to go to?"
"Bennet's?" Near the park!?" Beast Boy's ears perked at the suggestion and the memories of peanut butter pancakes, and a blueberry oatmeal that he couldn't find anywhere else.
"Why donât the three of us sneak out early for Breakfast, do you think Raven would be up for that?"
"Totally! she loves waffles." he said with a grin. Finally something was going right on this trip.
"I do want to get to know her better, but be warned an embarrassing story or two might slip out. Oh, one more thing." She said as stood up and made a beeline for the closet.
"Ah ugh Rita!" Beast Boy started to stammer out. As Rita gently rapped on the closet door.
"Raven, Sweetheart. You can come out now, It's okay." Her tone was soft and motherly and It nearly floored Beast Boy to hear Raven be called 'sweetheart'.
Not waiting for her. Rita opened the door to find the flustered young woman. "I think you will both be more comfortable in the guest room." she said with a smile.
Raven walked into the room slowly, as if she was about to spring a trap. "Thank you" She was able to eke out "Are you sure? I mean Mento s- "
"It was not that long ago that I was young and in love. I am sure." A smile on her lips. "As for Steve," Rita leaned in close to whisper to Raven. "I will take care of my man, you take care of yours. The guest room is on the other side of the house, but we will try not to keep you two awake."
Rita turned quickly and was out the room with a hast "goodnight kids" leaving the young couple to stand there processing what just happened.
"What did she say to you?" Beast Boy asked.
Raven came up from behind him and wrapped her arms around his chest. "Gar, with those ears you heard what she said to me. Do you really want conformation?"
"No" He shook his head "I donât need that mental image."
"Good, Because there is a fairly large bed downstairs waiting for us. "
In a swirl of black energy they were gone.
****************************************************
"WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" Steve said as soon as Rita entered their bedroom.
âDo what darling?â Rita was completely calm knowing her husband's words were all bluster.
âYou know exactly what I am talking about!â He folded his arms across his chest. âWhy did you-â
"Because Steve, this is my home too! And sometimes I think I need to remind you." She said slowly walking toward him. "Because they're in love and I think you forget what that is like as well.â Her hands pulled the knot apart on the robe she was wearing. "Because you may have no interest in grandchildren does not mean I feel that way. âShe pulled the robe off her shoulders and let it fall around her feet. âBecause you have more pressing matters to attend to at the moment.â

When Itâs Cold
*Felix simps come get yâall juice!
The hyperfixation hit me hard and because I just have to add backstory and character development to every single request I get, this one shot request is another mini-fic. I do not know how long it is going to be but I am hoping to keep it under ten. I already have like 5 chapters written now. Also, Felix deserves some multi-chapter love dang it!*
Prompt: Reader and Felix are stuck in Storybrooke together. What will happen next? Spoilers: itâs feelings and fluff and a horny teenagers being stupid.
Requested by: anon
~~~
âI blame you.â Felix said.
âHow is this my fault?â I retorted. Felix and I sat on the docks of Storybrooke overlooking the water.
âYouâre the one that convinced me to come to Storybrooke with you. Now look whatâs happened! Pan is dead and we have no way to get back to Neverland.â
âWeâll find a way back to Neverland.â
âAnd how do you figure that? There is no more shadow to ferry us, we have no magic bean, or any pixie dust to fly us back. We are stuck here!â
âWill you calm down?â
âYou want me to be calm? How can you expect me to be calm after everything that has happened?â
âI donât know but you panicking is not going to help us any. Storybrooke is the only town in this realm with magic. If there is a way to cross realms we will find it here so stop worrying so much and start brainstorming. Like you said, there is no more shadow so our reliable way of getting back is gone. Magic beans are scarce if any even still exist. So our only option is to find some method of transportation that can either fly us back or we become mermaids and swim through the realms. So we gotta sprout wings or gills. Ideas?â
âWell I canât swim worth a damn so I guess weâll need to find a way to fly.â
âNo point staying here.â I got up, âWe were fine camping in the woods but thatâs not going to serve us well much longer. Winter is rolling in and neither of us have ever lived somewhere that wasnât tropical and humid all the time so I donât think weâll survive long on our own out in the wilderness. We need to start looking into different housing options.â
âYou sound like an adult.â Felix groaned.
âI hate it too but thereâs not much else we can do unless we want to freeze to death. Come on,â I held a hand out to him, âThe sooner we find someplace the sooner we can start dedicating our time to finding a way out of here.â
âIâm coming,â Felix stood up, ignoring my hand. We walked all around Storybrooke looking for someplace to hole up in. My main concern was having a place with heat which left a lot of the vacant houses out since their utilities were shut off. Normally that wouldnât be a problem if it wasnât for the fact that there were no fireplaces so starting a fire to keep warm was also out of the question.
It was getting late and our search had yielded nothing. I had a bad feeling that if we couldnât find somewhere suitable through our own means we would have to resort to actually paying for housing somewhere. Which meant we would need money which also meant we would need to have jobs. Paying bills, having jobs, this was a nightmare!
We shuffled back to our camp and checked the traps we had laid for any game but only caught a small rabbit. Barely big enough for one person. Better than nothing at least.
As Felix roasted the rabbit over our fire I sighed, rubbing my arms to keep off the chill of the late autumn.
âYou know what Iâve noticed these past couple days?â I said.
âHm?â Felix hummed not bothering to look up.
âThis is the first time in all the years weâve known each other that weâve ever really hung out.â
âGuess so.â Felix shrugged.
âIs that not strange to you? Weâve known each other for decades on Neverland. We hunted together, played together, fought together with the boys but this is the first time us two have ever been alone together. How do you not find that strange?â
âItâs not like I was close to everybody on the island.â He took the rabbit off the spit and cut it in two, âBesides, you were always off galavanting with Artie and Frank. Whatâs it matter if we ever hung out?â
âI guess itâs just making me wonder.â
âWonder what?â
âWhy you followed me here?â I answered as he handed me my half of our dinner. âYou didnât know that Pan had switched consciousness with that Henry kid until after we left Neverland. You could have stayed on Neverland with the other boys. You didnât need to come with me when I asked you to. So why did you?â
âLet me ask you something,â Felix dodged around the question, âWhy is it that you asked me to come with you in the first place? You had your friends on that ship already. Why take me along? Why is it that youâre roughing it in the woods with me when you have friends that are snug and cozy in that fairy monastery? Answer me that.â
âI--I--â The words were caught in my throat. Why had I asked Felix to come with me? I knew the answer lay deep in my gut but I couldnât for the life of me bear to bring it to the surface. I bit into my rabbit with a small scowl.
Felix gave a small exhale before diving into his dinner as well. The conversation thoroughly ended. I curled up to go to sleep near the fire. Our only source of heat. I really did miss Neverland. I would deal with a million humid heat waves if it meant that I could be warm again.
Sometime during the night a gust of cold wind snapped me awake. I huddled in closer to myself trying to retain some warmth when I felt something being draped over me. I peeked an eye open and saw Felix lay down again and curled more into himself. I looked to see what he had done and realized he had draped his cloak over me. His only form of heat, thin as it was. I decided at that moment as I watched him violently shivering on the cold ground that I would gladly grow up a little and get a job if it meant we would have somewhere warm to sleep tomorrow night.
The morning came and as casually as I could gave Feilx back his cloak. I made no mention of his generosity. I knew he wouldnât appreciate you pointing out his selflessness for whatever reason. Too proud to accept my thanks.
We went back into town and I sent Felix off to find some cheap accommodations for us while I walked along main street and hopped into every store that I could looking for work. Unfortunately it looked like no one was hiring. Dejected and pissed after the tenth shop owner denied to even let me fill out one of their ridiculous applications I stole a handful of dollars from their tip jar. At the very least I could buy us a decent meal tonight.
We met up again outside of the diner. Felix had no luck finding a place to stay either. Everyone just shrugged him off. To my delight though he had the same idea as me and produced a wallet he had pickpocketed off the landlord he had spoken to. A couple of twenties tucked safely into the worn leather. We may not have anywhere warm to sleep tonight but at least we could get a hot meal.
We entered into the diner and immediately were met with stares. It was the same stare I got from everyone I asked a job from. I tried to shrug it off and sat down with Felix at the counter. We ordered two plates of the lasagna. The waitress was kind enough but everyone else at the counter moved away from us when it was evident that we were staying.
âFelix,â I whispered, âIs it just me or is everyone--â
âThey donât want us here,â he whispered back, âTheyâre not saying anything but theyâre making it obvious enough. The reason no one will give us a job or let us live anywhere is all for the same reason. We were here for Pan and even though heâs gone they still donât trust us. Just eat your food and weâll go back to camp.â
âDo you think we have enough money to maybe spend just one night at the bed and breakfast?â I asked, hopeful.
Felix shook his head. âEven if we did I think we should be saving this for food since game is proving difficult to come by.â
âYouâre right,â I stabbed into my lasagna. âIt just gets so coldâŚâ
We finished our meals quickly and left just as fast. At least I was more full than yesterday. We started on our way back to camp when I noticed a trail I hadnât seen before.
âWhere are you going? Camp is that way?â
âI know but I need to see something.â I told him as I started running down the other trail.
âWait!â Felix ran after me. I kept huffing and puffing down the trail until it opened into a large field. In the distance was a huge house. A mansion by the looks of it.
âWhoa,â Felix said as he took in the sight of the mansion. âHow did we miss this?â
âI donât know. Letâs get a closer look.â We ran across the neatly trimmed lawn and hopped over the fence onto the mansion grounds. The lights were off inside. Whoever lived here was either gone or asleep. We checked the garage and found no car. Peeking in as many windows as we could it didnât look like anyone was home.
âShould we?â I asked Felix. The temptation was too great. âEven if someone does live here itâs so big I doubt that they would even notice us staying here as well.â
âLetâs take a look.â Felix grinned. Strangely enough the front door was left unlocked. I tried the lights and was delighted when I realized that the electricity was working, there was running water too. Even better was that there was heat! Heat and dozens of bedrooms.
The place was so clean and orderly but yet there were no signs of it being lived in. No pictures on the walls. No food in the fridge. All the doors and windows were unlocked. There was a large kitchen, dining room, multiple rooms just for sitting in, a dozen bedrooms, and even a ballroom with a beautiful crystal chandelier. All the windows had the most spectacular views of the ocean or the mansionâs garden.
âThis place is amazing!â I picked up a strange cylindrical paperweight with stars painted on top of it and tossed it in the air. âFelix, I donât want to get our hopes up but I think we found a place for us to stay.â
âAnd youâre sure no one lives here?â Felix gazed around the room we were standing in.
âWe searched all the rooms we came across and found no one. The place has been cleaned out of food or toiletries. Either whoever lives here desperately needs to go shopping or they just donât exist.â
âYou think weâre really that lucky?â
âI think weâre owed a bit of luck. Even if someone still does live here do you really want to spend the night shivering outside or spend a night wrapped up warm in a bed and run the risk of someone chasing us out in the morning?â
âYou make a compelling argument.â Felix grinned, âRace you for the master bedroom!â
âFelix!â I chased after him as he went flying up the stairs. He got to the room first and flopped down on the large king-sized bed.
âI win! Go take one of the lesser bedrooms.â
âYou only won cause you have those long lanky legs.â I flopped down beside him and sighed as I sunk into the soft mattress. âI donât think I can move from here. Itâs way too comfortable.â
âToo bad. My room.â He pushed me off.
âHey!â I laughed as I stood back up. âFine, you can have the master bedroom but only on the condition that you find us more money to buy food and toiletries. Got it?â
âSounds good to me,â Felix stood too, eyeing the bathroom attached to the bedroom. âSoap or not I think I am going to indulge in a hot bath.â
âThat does sound heavenly.â I havenât had a hot bath in decades. âHave a goodnight, Felix. We go grocery shopping tomorrow.â
âNight,â Felix gave a wave as he closed the bathroom door behind him.
I left the room and wandered around the hall looking for a space of my own. I found a nice bedroom that felt just as grand as the master bedroom. I went into the bathroom and drew myself a piping hot bath. I nearly moaned when I sunk down into the water. Even if this lasts for only a night Iâll be happy. One night of warmth.
After my bath I wrapped myself in a large fluffy towel and went back into the bedroom. I really didnât want to put my old dirty clothes on my clean body. I opened the dresser drawers hoping maybe the resident left behind some old clothes but they were all empty. I crept out of my room and checked the other guest rooms surrounding me but all their drawers were empty too. There was one place I hadnât checked. If the owner did leave something behind it would probably be in the master bedroom. I glanced down at my towel with a grimace. It covers everything at least. I tentatively knocked on the door but was met with no answer. I cracked it open and sighed with relief when I saw no Felix in sight. He must still be in the bath.
I went to the dressers and, âNothing? Really?!â I slammed the dresser shut again. How is it that there isnât so much as a single shirt in this house?
âWhy are you making so much noise?â Felix stepped out of the bathroom in a billow of steam. My throat went dry when I caught sight of him. Completely naked except for the towel hanging from his hips and still dripping went. His blonde hair that usually hung in his face was brushed back opening his face up more. His torso had an array of scars I never knew he had before. That wet chest that was impressively chiseledâŚ
I shot to my feet clutching to the towel covering me. âSorry! I was just looking for some clean clothes.â
Felix gaze swept me up and down. He took a deep breath and grabbed something from inside the bathroom and tossed it to me. It was a fluffy white robe with a monogrammed M on the breast. âThere.â
âThanks.â I slid the robe on over my towel. âAnything else in there?â
âNope. Just that one.â Felix turned away from me. His face looked red and I could only guess he was angry at me for barging in. âNow scurry back to your own room.â
âRight. Thanks.â I rushed back to my room, my heart hammering in my chest. That was certainly new. I never thought I would see that much of Felix. I mean why would I ever want to see his wet, practically naked, and not so shockingly buff body? No! Bad! Impure thoughts I should not be having about my...myâŚ
Huh. What was Felix to me? On Neverland we were Lost Ones but that didnât really fit here. I donât know if I could exactly call us friends either. Roommates? Was that what we were now? We have been living together at our crappy camp all this time and now weâre staying in this mansion together. I guess thatâs what we would call one another. Roommates.
I dropped my towel and pulled the clean robe tighter around me. My thumb traced over the M stitched on the breast. This house has no food, no toiletries, no clothes, not a single photo on any wall but yet there was a single monogrammed robe. Who was M? Who had lived here?
Those were questions for the morning. I sunk into bed and this time I did moan as I cuddled under the many thick blankets. Finally warm at last.
Unbidden - Act 1, chapter 3
Masterlist | Previous | Next
Content warnings: None
"Can't you keep up, ghoul boy?"
Morgan leaned heavily against the trunk of a tree, trying to catch his breath. Blaise was over a foot taller than him and much sturdier, clearly accustomed to regular physical activity. Her brisk walking pace was impossible for him to match. Traveling alone, he'd been able to set his own speed. It was considerably slower.
"No. Your legs... are longer," he panted. She grumbled something under her breath and turned away. Of course she wanted to move quickly. People generally wanted to spend as little time as possible around him. "If we slow down," he suggested, "I won't have to keep stopping." She didn't respond. "Or you could just... not go with me."
"Listen," she said sharply, turning to point a finger at his chest, "I earned my place in the Sisterhood, and I take it very seriously. I have to trust in Kashya's decisions, even if I don't agree with them. I'm going to see this through."
"Very well." He wasn't about to waste his breath arguing, not when it was still so elusive. Blaise peered around suspiciously now that she'd turned back the way they came.
"Hey, what happened to that... thing? Your monster."
He'd had to abandon it some time ago in favour of trying to keep up with the rogue. It made him feel uncomfortably vulnerable even though the enemies had been few so far, and she'd picked them off easily from a distance. She was a skilled archer. "Clay golem. It was too slow."
"I thought your kind raised the dead, anyway."
"Skeletons are faster," he said, watching for her reaction, "but most... don't like them."
She looked away, scanning the treeline. "Don't like you either, so does it matter?"
Morgan didn't know how to answer that. He decided to take it as permission. These fields were ripe with choice, layered thick with dead that had never been laid to rest. He selected two nearby specimens and filled their bones with magic, like pouring a little of himself out of a larger cup into a thimble. Blaise jumped back, nocking an arrow, but seemed to realize quickly what was going on. She scrutinized the skeletons, circling them to inspect all sides. They shuffled, restless - between the freshly renewed energy and whatever remained of their original spirits, they wanted to move. They flexed their bony fingers around the hilts of their swords, which were glowing faintly blue. It cost a little extra effort to manifest a weapon, but it was much more convenient than carrying or seeking out extra gear.
"Looks like these guys are battle ready." She gave Morgan a brief taste of the same assessing gaze. "More ready than you, anyway."
"That's the idea." He was not built for fighting. Or speed. Or much of anything physical, when it came down to it. His delicate frame and poor stamina put a damper on that sort of thing. His magical aptitude, such as it was, was his only strength.
"I mean, your sword is on the wrong side."
"What?" Morgan looked down at the scabbard on his hip, not seeing anything amiss. "I'm right-handed."
Blaise sighed, pointing. "Yeah, I figured that's why you've got your shield on the left. Your sword belongs on the left too. It's easier to draw from your opposite hip." She pantomimed drawing a blade from across her body. It did look easier than the way he'd been doing it, with less wasted movement.
"Ah. I see." He set about fixing his gear's arrangement as she watched, unimpressed.
"Do you even know how to use that thing?"
"Sharp end goes in the target," he answered. That approach had been working so far. Most creatures kept their internal organs in more or less the same arrangement, and damaging those was a quick way to win a skirmish. His constructs took care of most of the threats, anyway - he rarely had to engage in combat himself.
"Very funny." Morgan looked at Blaise questioningly. What was funny? "Wait, please tell me you're joking. Oh, for the love of-" Blaise clasped a hand to her forehead, turning away. "Perfect. I'm out here with a greenhorned... kid, and some dead guys. I hope finding this Deckard character is worth it."
"I'm probably older than you, I'm just small." Morgan always had trouble telling how old people were, but it seemed like a fair guess based on her voice and the way she carried herself. "And the skeletons... remember. How to fight. From when they were alive." Watching them was the way he'd learned to handle the sword, over the course of the month or so it had been in his possession.
"They what?"
He held in a sigh. People often didn't like this part either. "Some echo of the spirit remains in the bones after a person dies. It's stronger if they died suddenly, or weren't laid to rest. When I tell them to fight, they... fight. However they used to. Look." He commanded the skeletons to spar with each other and they sprang into action, blades clashing. Blaise watched them thoughtfully.
"Well," she decided after a few moments, "that's not as bad as I expected. Now let's get going, you've had a minute to catch your breath." She didn't wait for a response before setting off with a long, loping stride. Morgan trotted to keep up, maintaining a respectful distance. He felt cautiously optimistic. Grudging acceptance was among the best possible outcomes he'd dared to consider.
They'd had to stop for the night. Tristram was simply too far to reach in a single day, no matter how fast they walked. Few words had passed between them during that day, which suited Morgan quite well. Conversation so often felt like a maze to navigate, and he could rarely figure out the right solution. His golems responded quickly and easily to mental suggestions, not requiring any specific words to perform actions or be dismissed. It was so much simpler with them. The skeletons from earlier waited obediently for their next orders, standing guard at the edge of the camp.
Silence was easy. He'd nodded silently when Blaise declared she was stopping to hunt dinner, observed silently as she dressed and roasted the small rabbit she'd shot. Now he was eating silently from his own supply of dried meat, watching the archer oil and restring her bow. It was captivating, in a small way, watching people do things expertly. The fluidity of her actions, the balanced push and pull of her muscles as she conditioned the wood, the way the firelight cast shifting patches of brighter orange on the coppery tone of her skin.
"What the hell are you smiling at, ghoul boy?" Her eyes were narrowed suspiciously. He hadn't realized he'd been smiling. He stopped. The question felt like a trap.
"I was just... admiring you," Morgan ventured. If there had been a correct answer, that wasn't it. Blaise crossed the distance between them with a few long strides and grabbed the front of his shirt, hauling him onto his feet.
"Listen close, you disgusting little man, because I'm only going to say this once," she snarled. "I'm here with you right now because I respect my commander. I'm not here for your enjoyment. If you want your cock to stay attached, you'd better keep it in your fucking pants."
"What? No, that's not - I didn't mean-" Morgan stammered, horrified. Had there been a sexual connotation to his phrasing? He definitely hadn't intended one. He'd have to remember not to say that again.
She gave him a shake. "Tell me you understand what I'm saying to you."
"I understand," he croaked. She released him roughly, sending him sprawling in the dirt. He picked himself up gingerly. "I'm sorry, I-"
"Shut up. I don't want to hear it." Morgan closed his mouth and averted his eyes, shrinking back. An apology would have to wait until Blaise was... less furious.
She eventually turned away. "I'll take first watch," she announced with her back to him. "Can't sleep like this."
He wasn't going to sleep either, not after that outburst. It would be prudent to rest, though. He returned to his seat by the fire and settled in to meditate. The skeletons folded down into themselves, collapsing in an orderly manner so they would be easy to raise again later. Blaise whirled around at the noise.
"What are you doing?" She squinted suspiciously at the neat piles of bones.
"Putting them away. They don't stay together very long when I'm resting."
"Resting." Morgan wished immediately that he'd chosen a different way to phrase it. Maybe an explanation would help.
"Golems need magic to hold them together. Once they run out, if they don't get more, they just fall apart."
"Uh huh, sure. 'Resting' is a weird way to say 'sleeping' if that's what you mean, though. So what exactly do you plan to do behind my back all night if it isn't sleeping?"
"Just meditation."
"Why not sleep like a normal person?"
Morgan made the mistake of hesitating, unable to decide how to answer on the spot. Blaise jabbed her bow towards him.
"I said, why not?"
"It's nearly the same thing," he explained, "just with more awareness. I don't usually sleep in unfamiliar surroundings. None of my Order do."
"How do I know you're not lying?"
"I don't lie, but if you don't believe me, I can't make you." He did not look away from her gaze, though he wanted to. It was uncomfortable. But people seemed to equate eye contact with honesty, so he made the effort.
Blaise didn't look satisfied with his answer, but she lowered her bow and turned her back on him again, muttering under her breath. It would do, then. He sat in silence for a minute or so before starting to meditate. Being rested was always preferable to the alternative.
PETRICHOR Peaky Blinders ⢠Oneshot
Bonnie and you. You and Bonnie. Itâs perfect. And then itâs all gone. Grieving is a strange, complicated thing to do and you donât have a single clue on how to survive without him.
Pairing ⢠Bonnie Gold x Shelby!Reader
Words ⢠5.4k
Warning ⢠some swear words; mentions of death/murder
A/N ⢠i still cry every time watching that scene; for years i wanted to write some Peaky Blinders fanfiction and out of all the ideas i have, this is the one which burned under my fingernails to be written a few days ago. so here we are.
/////
For once, you felt completely and utterly peaceful. Itâs been a long time since you last felt that way. The hectic of accomplishing Peaky business and dealing with Tommyâs tantrums had worn you out. For Tommy it may have been Graceâs death to turn him even more away from the man he once used to be. For you itâs been John Boyâs death three years ago â three fucking years ago already â that turned everything upside down. Sure, before that a lot of deaths happened too and scarily disturbing shit youâve been involved in, including a lot of eyes cut out by razor blades. But when the first of your siblings was killed â and that it would be only a matter of time when the next will be taken away, maybe even you, who knew â it changed something completely. The Shelbyâs werenât invincible. Never were and never will be, no matter how intensely Tommy tried to make everyone believe it. Not even by the order of the Peaky fucking Blinders.
Right now, though, with this cold airstream on this foggy morning, sitting on the steps of this caravan, wrapped up in a blanket â everything felt okay for a short while.
Last night you had been sitting at the bonfire and enjoyed the warming flames like the couple nights before. Lately you spent more and more time out of the city, trying to escape the business and Tommyâs orders.
They didnât know. You never told them. All this time you spent with him and no one knew. You didnât want them to know. The chance of them ruining it all was so fucking high, the only way you saw was hiding it from them. You thought, maybe they would start to worry where you were. Maybe. But they didnât. So, those nights at the bonfire with him belonged to you two. Occasionally accompanied by his family, but mostly itâs been your nights, chatting away, making out for a while and roasting the rabbits or squirrels over the fire you had hunted during the day.
The fire had been burning brightly, dancing up into the night sky and competing with the stars. The booze in your veins had made you dance along with it, circling it like druids performing a summoning, until raindrops started to extinguish the bonfire. For a moment you looked up to the sky, feeling every raindrop slowly touching your face â then the rain changed its mind and rushed down onto you like someone opened a faucet. He had grabbed your hand and ran to the caravan with you.
His laughter still echoed in your ears as you sat on the steps. It was the only sound you heard in this early hours of the day. No birds had woken, no wind was finding its way through grass and leaves yet. Only his laughter in your ears, igniting a warm feeling in your chest and spreading through your whole body.
The smell of the earth was lingering everywhere. It had been the reason why you woke up so early in the first place. It was the best thing ever, how soil decided to send out this beautiful scent after rain had poured on it. The best thing, after him.
He stirred behind you and got out of the bed. His steps were creaking on the caravanâs wooden flooring. Without any words, he sat down behind you and wrapped his arms around your body.Â
He rested his chin on your shoulder. âWhy are you sitting here, Y/N?â
âEnjoying the woods, Bonnie.â
âHow long have you been sitting here?â
You shifted in his arms to meet his eyes. âFor a while.â
He tried to pull you even closer to him. Of course he knew what was struggling you. Of course he knew you werenât only enjoying the woods. The short period of peace slowly faded and made room for the exhausting reality once again.
âIâm sick of itâ, you whispered. Back in the day, when the boys came back from war, in your childish mind you thought everything would get better or at least back to normal or to a new normality. It never did. You grew up and with every blink of your eyelids another month passed, full of events that happened at such a fast pace you could hardly understand what was going on most of the times. And then you had met Bonnie and everything stopped for a while. And when the world started to spin again, the speed had slowed down a little. Not much, but enough for you to be able to breathe again.
âI know, my love.â
âUnfortunately, I have to go backâ, you mumbled and heard Bonnie sigh. âI need to show my face and get some work done. Canât stay here forever.â
âYou couldâŚâ Bonnieâs warm breath on your neck was giving you shivers. His voice was still raspy from his deep sleep. You loved to wake up next to him. âWe could just go away, take the caravan and leave forever, Y/N. Imagine how perfect life would be. Imagine how cute little youâs would be.â
You tried to picture it. Traveling from one place to another with Bonnie, living in the woods and find food in the wilderness. Freezing during winter and warming each other in bed, sweating in the summer and skinny dipping in a lake to cool down. Growing his child in your belly. Giving birth, becoming a family and repeating it over and over again until you two had a whole soccer team. With Bonnie, this idea didnât feel scary anymore. With Bonnie, everything seemed pretty easy actually. With Bonnie, it always felt like you were running through a field full of wild flowers, brushing against your skin, and making you feel exactly as beautiful as all the blossoms around you.
âOkayâ, you agreed, feeling his arms hold onto you even tighter. âIâll find a way.â But first you had to go back to sort everything out.
Bonnie hardly ever wanted to let you go. When you got up and tried to get dressed, his hands were all over you and his lips tried to delay your departure. As always, he âhelpedâ you getting dressed. First, he inspected every piece of clothing, to see if you could really wear it, then delicately put it on you with a lot of fumbling around to expand the time he had with you. The most dangerous part of it all was, when he came to the last piece: the shirt. He made you stretch out your arms over your head and when he pulled it on and the shirt covered your face, he would most likely try to grab and carry you back to the bed. And that is exactly what happened again. You tried to somehow get out of his grip but had to surrender in laughter. He didnât seem like it at first glance, but he was so incredibly strong, not even the giant Goliath had a chance against him in the end.
âBonnie, stop it!â Laughing under his tickle attack, you tried to get your head out of your shirt to see at least what was going on. Instead of accomplishing it on your own, he pulled down your shirt and freed your head. Only to press his lips on yours and make it even harder to want to go back to the city.
âThis.â Kiss. âIs.â Kiss. âWhat.â Kiss. âWill.â Kiss. âAwait.â Kiss. âYou.â Kinda out of breath, he rested his forehead against yours. He stared down to you, even though in this proximity eyes couldnât focus anymore. âGod, how much I love you, Y/N. Do you even know how much I love you?â
âI donât knowâ, you couldnât suppress your grin, âmaybe to the moon and back?â
âNo.â Bonnieâs grin was probably even bigger than yours. âMore than that. To every single star in the sky and way beyond whatâs in the darkness lurking between them.â
Thatâs probably the most perfect description of what your love felt for him as well. âI love you, Bonnie.â Your lips brushed against his briefly. âBut I really have to go now. The sooner I go, the sooner Iâll be back and we can go wherever the wind blows us.â
Groaning, he let himself fall next to you on the bed so you could stand up and fix your clothes.Â
He stood as well, when you reached for the car keys and pulled on your Peaky cap. It was a quick walk to where you had parked the car â Bonnie wouldnât let go off your hand. And he didnât let you close the door for a while when you were sat behind the steering wheel.
The birds still didnât chirp, nor were any other animals being heard. The silence was still there, still granting you some peace, even though it wasnât the same as on the steps.
âDonât take too long, okay?â One hand on the hood, the other on the door, he leaned down to kiss you once more.
âI wonât. I promiseâ, you smiled. Starting the car, Bonnie softly closed the door and watched you drive off. You saw him getting smaller in the mirror, didnât really want to leave him, but you would see him soon again. And when that time came, you wouldnât leave him again.
/////
Parking the car in front of the house on Watery Lane, you already felt uncomfortable being back in the city. Out in the woods everything was so much more easy. Especially with Bonnie by your side. But, this, and only this, would soon be everything you had to care about. The blue sky above your head and a loving Bonnie, who you would share freedom with.
Isiah was making a beeline for you, the second you entered the building. That canât mean any good. âWhatâs it, Isiah?â
âWhere the fuck have you been?â
âLanguage! Iâm the fucking boss hereâ, you snarled, not very seriously. He just rolled his eyes with a little smirk. âWhat did I miss? Short story, please.â
Shelbyâs werenât supposed to do the dirty work anymore. But someone had to supervise those who did the dirty work for the Shelbyâs. When Arthur became Chairman, you gladly inherited the job. You couldnât stand paperwork or all the other serious business stuff, your work field was more physical.
As a teenager, while the Shelbyâs tried to consolidate their position within the betting world, you had been part of the razor gang like your other siblings as well, except for Ada. You hadnât been treated differently, only because you were a girl. You had grown up with them, with the violence, and to be honest: none of them tried to hold you back from taking your spot within the rows as they did with Finn. You wouldnât have left them.
You were awaiting a ânormal' report, but what you got was far from normal.
âWell⌠Finn got shot for the first time and Michaelâs back, got married on a ship, was being held captive and knocked up his lady.â
âAre you kidding me?â That was already too much drama to comprehend for only being back two minutes.
He shook his head, being dead serious. âOh and Charlie wants you at the yard. Didnât say anything else.â
âNews from Tommy?â
âNo.â
Good. That gave you the opportunity to check on Charlie right away. Leaving the house, you chose to walk over. Maybe it would be the last time to do the stroll, who knew. The dirty alleys of Small Heath and their people had been home for all your life. It would be strange to leave it all behind but an adventure would be waiting for you. Bonnie.
People were greeting you on your way, you returned it with a tap to your cap. To be a Shelby wasnât always bad. You loved being a Shelby. Sometimes, it could just get a little too much for you. Especially after John died and wasnât there anymore to defuse tensed situations with his silly jokes.Â
âCharlie?â Entering his yard, no-one was to be seen at first. Your call was answered soon, though. Curly was running up to you, throwing his arms in the air.
âYes, Y/N. Yes.â He was smiling. You always enjoyed Curlyâs presence and friendship. âSorry, sorry, not Charlie needs you, I do. Help me, yes?â
âOf course, Curly. Whatâs the matter?â Besides being the dirty-work-supervisor, you also spent a lot of time in Charlieâs yard. Helping them with every sort of work they were going after or just hanging out â sometimes with Finn, trying to maintain your bond.
Curly was returning to the shed he came out of, you followed behind. âI just found them. Couldnât leave them just like that. Have to take care of them, you know?â There was an old box, lined with hay, which he knelt down in front of. In it were laying a dozen tiny kittens, meowing in an unrhythmic canon. How cute. Curly just could never see an animal in need. He always took care of them. And more than one time, you had helped him with nursing them back to health.
Promising Curly to organise some milk, you left for the Garrison. It never failed to amuse you, that the noise died down for a moment when a Shelby entered the pub. When they realised you didnât care for their business, they continued with their chats again. Grabbing some bottles of milk from the back, you went to the office and tried to call Tom. You probably wouldnât return to the Arrow House tonight and spend it at the yard, just wanted to let him know, but he didnât answer.Â
Afternoon and evening was spend trying to feed every kitten some milk. Once you accomplished it and were done with every kitten, the first one cried out for more already.Â
At some point you mustâve fallen asleep in the shed. When you woke in the middle of the night and returned to Watery Lane, Finn was sitting in the kitchen. âWhy are you not at home?â âAt homeâ meaning Arrow House you had been living in with Tommy.
âTommy called. Sit down with me.â By his foreign facial expression, you feared they somehow found out you were in love with Bonnie. You hadnât even told Finn, just to make sure. What if they ruined your plans on going away with him? âI wanted it to be me to tell you becauseââ
âYou know of me and Bonnie?â For a second you were scared that maybe he didnât find out and now you just revealed it on accident.
âOf course I do. Iâm your twin, Y/N.â
âSo did the others find out? How mad are they?â
Finn flicked his cigarette into the fireplace and fully turned towards you. He reached out for your hands and took them both. âI told them but this is not what this is about right now.â Taking a deep breath, he locked eyes with you. âBonnie was killed today. Heâs dead.â
Slipping from this room, you mustâve fallen through the floor and deep down into the ground. You went somewhere dark, where your body couldnât breathe anymore, your eyes unable to see and your mouth not able to let out the scream that was building up in your throat.
No. Impossible. âThis canât be right. I was there this morning.â
Finn didnât answer.
He swallowed and got up, wanted to hug you, but you refused. You got up from the chair, stumbled backwards and crashed into the wall. All you could do was stare at him. You were waiting for him to say that he was wrong and Bonnie wasnât dead. It didnât happen. His face didnât light up, it only got darker.
You had a stare down and kept the distance between you because if he came closer, you mightâve started to cry.
When the front door got opened, your attention was drawn away from Finn to the person coming through it: Tommy. The moment you saw him, everything crashed for you. He wouldnât have come if Finnâs words werenât true.
Tommy was wordlessly coming over, seemed as if he had been in a rush to get here, but you stumbled away from him, using the wall as guidance. âNo!â
âY/Nââ
âNO! Stay away!â Your heart was starting to pump blood through your veins at an incredibly high speed, it roared in your ears and made your lungs speed up in sync. Hyperventilating and almost sinking to your knees, you didnât know what to do. What should you do? What could you do? How could Bonnie be gone if you wanted to get back to him as soon as possible?
âY/N, let us help you, okay?â
âNo!â Still with your arm stretched out in front of you, to keep them away, your mind was running wild on what the fuck to do. âWhere is he?â
âY/N, you canât goââ
âWhere the fuck is he, Thomas!â Maybe you were waking up everyone on Watery Lane but you couldnât control the volume of your voice.Â
âAberama put him in his caravanââ
Rushing past him to get out, you heard him shout and come after you. âYou canât go and see him.â
Fumbling for the keys in your pocket, Tommy was faster. The last thing you remembered was a sting in your neck, then everything went black as if you fell asleep.
/////
You were soon to understand why Tommy had prevented you from seeing Bonnie that night. He had drugged you so you wouldnât rush out to the woods and find him like that. Not when you just found out he was dead.Â
For a whole day you had locked yourself in your old room at Watery Lane. After Tommy told you why and how Bonnie was gone, you couldnât stand anyone around you without going after their throat, especially Tommyâs. You had just sat on the floor, staring at the wall and tried to understand it but you couldnât. Not until you saw him. Thatâs why you told Tommy to go fuck himself, when you finally went downstairs, and drove to the woods you had last seen Bonnie at.
The caravan looked just like you had left it. Climbing the steps, you were scared to open the door.
âGo on inâ, you suddenly heard someone speak, startling you. Aberama had appeared from between the trees, holding an axe.
âIâm scared I wonât leave it once I stepped in.â
âYou will, Y/N. Thereâs work we have to do.â He disappeared again and some thuds were to hear, almost like he was mauling wood.
You opened the door. You stepped in. You found him. And instantly turned your back to him. You started to sob so hard â crying for the first time actually â because looking at him for only a second was devastating. It took some minutes to get in control of the situation and turn to him again.
Bonnie was laying on the bed. Aberama probably didnât have the strength to clean him yet. He almost didnât look like himself anymore. Like the handsome, adoring guy with those dark eyes you fell for so hard. The dried blood, brown on his skin, covered all of his face. Eyes were closed. Jaw unnaturally misaligned. A big hole in his head.Â
Bonnie was crucified. They had been beating him up and hung his body on a cross.Â
Bonnie was shot in the face. Killed merciless.Â
Bonnie was a fucking message. To your brother.
âBonnie, please open your eyes.â The sobbing started again when you sat down on the bed next to him. His hand still felt the same when you intertwined your fingers with his. The coldness made your crying worse, though. It didnât stop. You couldnât and didnât want to for a while. For a long, long time. Until your body felt completely numb and unable to cry more before you hadnât refilled it with water. But that didnât make you leave just like that. Deep down you knew he wouldnât wake up but you still called his name again and again. You told him to wake up, so you could leave and go wherever you wanted. You wouldnât waste another day, trying to sort everything out. You didnât care. All you wanted was him. And he⌠he was laying there and didnât wake up.
Following the thuds outside, you found Aberama still slamming an axe to the ground. It wasnât the ground he was hitting, though. You tripped over your own feet when you realised that the wood to his feet mustâve been the cross.Â
âTommy gave me his word that Iâm going to kill that Billy Boy scum.â He stopped in his motions.
âTommyâs word is as much worth as that scum,â you huffed and let yourself drop to the cold ground. You didnât expect an answer or anything else. The night you were told Bonnie was dead was when you lost any expectations. You just stopped caring. Except for one thing. âWhen⌠when do you wantââ Unable to finish your sentence, Aberama stopped once again.
âTo burn his damn caravan?â Throwing the axe to the remnants of the cross, he sat down next to you. âNever did I think I had too. Always thought he would burn mine one day.âÂ
Against your assumption your body couldnât cry anymore tears, it started again. This time leaving out the intense sobbing, though. âCan I help you clean him?â
âIâm not ready.â
âIf we wait until weâre ready one day we will never do it, Aberama.â
âYou know, Y/N, he was so incredibly happy to have met you. He was my son, so I knew from the moment he came walking up to me, wearing that big grin, that he met someone very special.â Aberama joined in with the quiet crying. âThere was only one thing he wanted more than being the best boxer to ever live.â Bonnieâs dad placed an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to him. âTo love you for the rest of his life.â You totally lost it with his last words, crying your fucking heart out which you were sure would burn with Bonnie in that caravan.
Itâs been his sisters that pulled both of you out of your grief. They were bringing water and some fresh cloths.
Cleaning him up, together with his father, was a rather monotonous thing to do. Saying goodbye not so much.
How the fuck were you ever going to say goodbye to him?Â
Losing Bonnie was unbearable. In the past two years he had brought you more joy than the nineteen years before you fell in love with him. He had learned you to love someone so deeply, it pained to imagine ever being without him. So you never had. Out of all the people, you never thought his time would be up next. How could you switch places with him? Youâre a Shelby, why did they not choose you to send a message with?Â
Leaving Bonnie was like stabbing ten knives into your own lungs. You held your breath when you brushed through his hair one last time. Some tears were falling down to his cold skin when you pressed your lips to his temple one last time. The moment you placed down his hand and stood, gathering the strength to turn your back on him, asked for every small amount of willpower left in your body. Your feet didnât move further than to the door. You didnât want to go. You knew he wasnât there anymore, even though he was so close.
âI love youâ, you whispered and then let your eyes slip from his face and opened the door. Every step hurt but you pulled through with it. You didnât know how or who told him but Finn was standing outside when you exited the caravan.
He took your hand and you let him. Being able to hold onto someone was very much needed when Aberama lit fire under the caravan.
And just like a few nights ago, the fire was winding its way up, dancing into the stars. Bonnieâs words were echoing. To every single star in the sky and way beyond whatâs in the darkness lurking between them. Thatâs where the wind was taking him now. Not to another forest with you together how it shouldâve been. No. You drove off, saw him getting smaller in the mirror and just like that, he slipped from your grip forever without you even being aware of it.
/////
For months you wished you wouldnât have been so good with protection. That maybe, somehow, within the last few times you had slept with him, something of him found its way to stick in this world. That he left behind something, someone, of himself. But he didnât. There was nothing, no little him or you, that would be left of him. He would never live further than this stupid year of â29.
It was hard. Every day. Since he was gone there hadnât been one day where it didnât feel like his absence tore you apart completely.
You quit work, just couldnât work under Tommy anymore. You didnât really know anymore if it was justified, if he couldâve prevented it somehow, but for a long time you found him guilty for Bonnieâs death.
The only one of your family you still talked to was Finn. And only then if it was a nonchalant topic. You didnât want them to know how broken you, Y/N Shelby, were. And you didnât want to be around while Tommy was working together with the man who killed Bonnie. That just wasnât an option at all.
Phantasies about killing this Billy Boy were haunting you. Mostly in your daydreams because the nightmares were filled of Bonnie at a cross or Bonnie with no face. Or the worst: Bonnie still alive. When you dreamed of him being alive and woke from the sleep, you didnât even stand up that day. Had someone told you a few years ago that love could do something like that to a person, to you, you wouldnât have believed it in eternity.
The only reason you didnât leave yet, ignoring Tommyâs deal and went after this McCavernâs life: You felt like it was Aberamaâs place to take that bastards life.Â
For the last months youâve been staying with Aberamaâs family. The only solace you were able to find was with the people that grieved for Bonnie as well. They were beautiful beings, cheering over his life rather than being sorry for losing him. And yes, it helped some, but no, you couldnât just adept their mentality like that.
When the news came, that the assassination of Oswald Mosley didnât work, that Aberama was stabbed to death, another time, everything crashed. For a few more days you were able to stay with Aberamaâs kids and his sister, then you couldnât fight the urge to go after McCavern anymore.Â
You went away only by horse â Bonnieâs horse. With some blankets and the Peaky cap on your head, you made your way up north to Glasgow. The first three days it was only cold, which was endurable. When snow started to fall, it got harder to continue with your route. You spent the nights curled up in your blankets, trying to shelter from the snow under a big tree. None of it couldâve stopped you, though. Your determination was stronger than the weather. So you kept riding, kept freezing in the nights.
On the seventh day, not far away from Glasgow anymore, everything fell into place suddenly. You heard voices. Something had aligned everything perfectly well for you.
Getting of the horse and tying it to a tree, you snuck your way through the bushes to the street. You had followed it in some distance for a while now.
A car was parked on the side, three men tried to fix a tire. One of them was Jimmy McCavern. You had seen him back at Charlieâs yard from afar. No doubt, it was him.Â
You didnât expect luck would grant you such an opportunity but there it was. Remaining covered in the bushes, you waited for their discussion about the tire to come to an end. For a second you thought they would start throwing punches but then McCavern ordered the two men, he had travelled with, to go and find the next village and steal a new car. They obeyed his orders and started to walk away.
He watched them leave and muttered some slurs you couldnât understand. You waited. Until at some point he did, what every man did: pee at a tree.
The snow covered the sound of your steps when you moved out from behind the bushes and crossed the road. After imagining his death for such a long time, in so many different scenarios, it surprised you how calm you actually were. Arthur was always so furious. Tommy so cold. John was a miracle. And Finn⌠he was just not meant for the Peaky business and that was a good thing. To be honest, you expected to be just like Arthur in this very moment but that wasnât the case. You creeped up on the man who had killed Bonnie and you couldnât be more calmer. The fact you would be able to close this chapter in a few seconds was astonishingly relaxing.
He just finished up his business, when you pushed him to the snow covered ground and held him there. You quickly removed his gun and threw it behind you. He didnât have any other weapons on him.
Bonnieâs boxing lessons had made you a lot stronger, so you turned McCavern around to face him. The swearing, which again you didnât understand even though being way closer this time, stopped. You didnât know if he knew who you were or if he was surprised you were a woman. You didnât give a fuck, though.
âTimeâs upâ, you hissed. Your full body weight held him down and the arm under his chin prevented him from talking. Slowly, you reached out for your head, grabbed the Peaky cap and revealed the razor blades. Thatâs when his eyes showed some sort of realisation.
âThis is for Bonnie.â
/////
You waited for three days. But nothing changed. You didnât feel better. Right after taking McCavernâs eyes and cutting his throat open, bleeding to death, you fled from the scene back south as fast as possible. One more death, the one death you had longed for in such a long time and it didnât change a single thing. Bonnie was still gone, vanished from your life without a possibility to ever get him back. And revenge didnât change a single thing inside of you. The bleak beast was still eating your insides.
You waited for three weeks. But nothing changed. You went to Aunt Pol, didnât know where to go anymore or what to do. You told her what you had done. She was grieving for Aberama. She wanted you to stay and you decided to do so. But only a couple hours later you heard her phone Tommy that you were here â so you left again. Still with McCavernâs blood on your razor blades.
When the third month came around, something odd happened. You sat on the steps of your own caravan somewhere in the woods all by yourself. Rain mustâve fallen the previous night because the smell of mother nature rose. It wrapped around you like Bonnieâs arms always used to. Like he did on the day he died. Half a year had passed and nothing changed. You felt guilty, you felt left and lost but the scent of soil filling your nose brought some peace to you. The first time ever since Bonnie was gone.Â
His laughter still echoed in your ears and his words remained with you, repeating themselves every night before you fell asleep. You knew he wasnât here anymore but you also knew he would never leave your heart. You wouldnât let that happen. And thatâs when you realised what to do next.
