The first comic takes place before the two started dating. Shrimpo is really really really bad at expressing emotions other than anger and frustration, so anytime he tries to express anything, he just blurts out his feelings without thinking. Then he gets second-hand embarrassment lol. Glisten was pretty aware that Shrimpo liked him before, but he's pretending to be surprised to make Shrimpo "feel better" (also to mildly embarrass him lol).

Also, I think that Shrimpo and Glisten bonding over hating Finn is very based and true. They need that autistic man to SHUT UP/silly

I think Shrimpo and Finn are very cousin coded. Not close enough to be siblings but definitely got some familial genes going on imo (plz don't shoot me Shrimpbowl shippers🙏🙏🙏) Doesn't stop Shrimpo from being violent towards Finn tho, and Finn does nothing to deter it lol (he finds it funny). Also, Glisten throws no punches bc he doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

On the other end, I've been thinking about Shimmer a lot lol. So here is a doodle of her with her "sister aunt" Toodles, and Pebbles.

They all get along super well. In this pic, Toodles is like 12ish and Shimmer is 4 (but her weird biology made her age up to like 7 here). Pebble is pebble, that's all you need to know.

Also, I was in a horror-ish mood earlier so here are some Twisteds <33 (below cut cuz kinda scary):

I love you angst comfort. My sib pointed out while playing one day that Shrimpo looked traumatized as a Twisted, which like, fair, but it make me think.

Glisten: "They say you are not here anymore. But I think you are."

I had this silly idea that Twisted Shrimpo was infected by Dandy personally, and that whole conflict got Shrimpo's lower jaw ripped off. He is very violent and volatile, and very hard to calm down. But, when he runs into a twisting Glisten alone and scared, he comforts him (to the best of his ability).

Since Glisten is still able to be somewhat conscious, he realizes that the Twisteds are actually not completely gone like he originally thought, and it helps him keep his sanity longer, hoping for a way out for everyone.

Willpower is a crazy thing.

On the complete opposite note, I love you horrifying freak of ichor child.

Since Shimmer was made from the ichor itself with no sort of skeleton or solid foundation, her condition is very unstable. And the problem is that her body is affected by her emotions. On a bad day, she can suffer from lots of pain and her body literally melting away. That's when she hides out and waits for her body to stabilize again.

When she completely twists, her body completely falls apart, becoming a puddle of ichor on the ground. If she was an encounterable twisted, she would work like Sprout's puddle root things, but easier to maneuver around and avoid. Also, her antenna glow.

I can see dick use to give Jason piggyback rides when he was little (don’t talk to me) and probably still tries to now but it doesn’t work out and the two end up on the floor.

Doesn’t stop him from trying again though.

Jason would give you piggybacks because it’s an excuse to have you close to him, so he hikes you up on to his shoulders, large calloused hands keeping you steady as he feels your hands go straight to his hair.

He does it so often that he hates not having you you on his back or atop of his shoulders, like truly hates it because you acted liked a comforting weight to Jason, so it was just as much of a comfort to him as it was to you. It reminds him of the better times that he has thought was long forgotten, however Jason finds himself wanting to keep you on his back and or shoulders for as long as he could, so don’t be surprised if Jason isn’t exactly eager to let you off so easily that you might as well make yourself comfortable on his back.

Dick would play along with you pulling on his hair to be honest, moving his limbs wherever you wanted them to go and saying ‘yes little chief’ all the time with that grin of his. He does it when your down and in need of a pick me up and he wanted nothing more then to hear you laugh and smile.

So if pretending to be controlled by you pulling his hair will do it? Then dick will spend hours doing so if it makes you happy and laughing again. Your happiness makes him happy and so he’ll gladly walk through your shared home while giving you a piggyback for as long as you want. He doesn’t mind being a little silly and a little goofy for you as it takes his mind off of the overwhelming -and sometimes crippling- responsibilities he has and oftentimes forgets to take a break himself; So he takes what time he has with you however he can, even if he’s calling you ‘little chief’ like twenty times a day.

for those interested: the basic story of the comic would be like. so that ham guy (pictured and labeled above) hires viv and scorch’s merc company (eddie would also be here in this hypothetical comic) for like 900K pixels because he goes to this mostly-water-planet to catch a highly sought after and rare fish, but it’s recommended that to catch it you have at least like. 5 people at the BARE minimum, and he only has two other people already. (i also had the idea of shrike and beebs being there too?? sorta like. you hired two merc companies?? is that allowed??? or something. but they still do it bc a) ham goes like “well the more the merrier!” or something because to catch this fish? it really is, and b) its for 900K for both companies. how? the fish would end up being around 2.7 million so it just gets split up among the 3 parties involved 👍)

JOHNNY DEAN CLANTON: red appaloosa horse. 21. she/her cis butch. worked on her family's chicken/various other birds farm for a year after high school, then decided to just be a "free spirit" living out of her van and doing odd manual labor jobs for people. she's also an absolute player (with a thing for small carnivores in particular)

NULL: blue point siamese cat. 20. they/them agender. chemistry student and pawblix (furry version of publix) cashier. they are actually friends with people, but they're also great at lying and generally pretending to get along with people they hate. needs a smoke break

ARGYLE LANCASTER: lion. 21. he/him cis dude. engineering student who burnt out and decided to go into fashion design instead. chill and agreeable to a fault, he will go with whoever else's flow even if it ends up hurting him (or someone else)

the general gist of this story is that everyone here except for santiago knew each other in high school. jamie is childhood friends with johnny, johnny is friends with null, and null is friends with argyle. jamie gets introduced to null through johnny, then gets introduced to argyle through null. jamie is immediately smitten and has a crush on argyle for months

at the end of jamie's junior year/argyle's senior year, jamie finally asks argyle out. argyle says yes, but he's really not that into jamie, he just wants to see what will happen (... and also feels bad for him). over the course of the summer it becomes clear to argyle that this relationship cannot last but he keeps putting off on breaking up with jamie. finally, the day before argyle moves across the country to go to college, he admits to jamie that he was kinda dating him out of pity and breaks up with him. jamie, understandably, loses his fucking mind, blocks argyle on everything after he leaves, and proceeds to have the worst senior year of all time

flash forward a few years. jamie is now a sophomore in college in an animation program. he's got a new beautiful sheep boyfriend named santiago. null, who was only really an acquaintance before, goes to the same college as them and they become better friends. johnny isn't always in town but they still hang out on the regular. jamie is still mad at argyle, because why wouldn't he be, but there's enough good in his life that he doesn't have to focus on his one bad high school relationship

... until argyle, dropping out of his ruthless engineering program, decides to transfer back home. to jamie and co's college. now BOTH of them have to deal with feelings that have built over the past three years as seeing each other becomes almost unavoidable. jamie has to grapple with the fact that he can't be mad at argyle forever, and argyle is forced to actually deal with the fact that he hurt someone like that instead of just hoping they've gotten over it

Kouji: He’s kinda easy, because I really like that Cd cover where he stared at Yamato playing his harmonica, dreamy eyed. I know it’s kinda lame Kouji is being put with a loner wolf, so I’m taking a safe route, but I honestly can’t get rid of that image printed in my head. Hmmm someone else, someone else, idk. Help. Maybe he could meet Takeru? If he met Yamato, he would meet Takeru as well and Takeru has got a Patamon. Since Kouji was often seen getting Patamon’s attention in the original season, Takeru’s would bring him memories.

• Izumi: Of course, when it comes to your favs you have got ton of ideas. Ton. Let’s say I will write a little bonus down here for Junpei and Izumi, so, for now, I’ll just temporise ahhahah. Many pair Izumi with Miyako, but I would honestly be curious to see how a meeting between Ruki and Izumi would play. Once a friend of mine drew Izumi and Ruki collaborating in modelling together (Ruki was the photographer, Izumi was the model of the photoshoot), but I want to picture them together more because Seki Producer liked saying Izumi “is actually more similar to Ruki than Mimi”. How? At what extent? What did you mean, SekiP? We will never know imo, but maybe if Ruki and Izumi got to know each other…

• Junpei: OF COURSE, same identical tale as old as time like when it comes to Izumi. So many ideas for my boy, I’d make him even meet Taichi and I think they’d go along. During my Adventure 01 “rewatch”, I truly found myself spotting a piece of Junpei in so many characters ahaha. Taichi has got a scene in which he drives some kind of crane in a factory and Frontier’s episode 5, the one in which Junpei drives one as well, blatantly is a homage to that. Needless to say, Junpei has also got something in common with Jyou, whom he met in an official comic (during which Junpei doesn’t miss the chance to compliment Izumi in front of strangers and in her absence lmaoooo); moreover, in the first Frontier ending, Junpei reading his homework on the stairs is another clear homage to 01, to a scene focusing on Jyou, though I can’t recall which episode it was and I apologize.

Still, and I’ve already said it, I ABSOLUTELY want Junpei to meet Ruri. I want him to become envious of her little detective life and bugging her by sticking his nose in whatever digital mystery she’s on. The Great Detective Shibayama meets the fantastic Ririrun! I need to draw them *wants to explode*. Maybe Junpei could affect Ruri with his fantasies about owning a series, who knows.

Junpei would also so funny with Miyako, I swear. The 02 x Frontier pic did place them in a mirroring position and I just adore it lol. They can eat together while talking about their crush, even if Miyako does yell much more than Junpei lmao. Bingo. I think Junpei would admire her technological skills and would evolve in Bolgmon to gain maths intelligence lmao x 2.

• Tomoki: I have played the Takeru card and I don’t really care? Because I want Tonoki to join the Tamers younger kids for once, though we know nothing about Ai and Mako, and unfortunately about Shaochung as well. But ehy, we can come up with headcanons and make these babies have fun. If Impmon acts as a bully like usual, Tomoki will have someone to deal with, though…

• Kouichi: He doesn’t give me any problem like his twin (good boy, Kouichi). Thanks to some people from this fandom, I have jumped on the boat of Kouichi and Hikari, not necessarily on a shipping level. I can see it. I can see Juri boarding as well, but Juri is way too hyperactive to Kouichi’s tastes imo. Hikari is a bit quieter and more considerate. He would put him at ease just like his twin does www.

Talking again about my 01 rewatch, I can confirm to myself early Mimi does remind me of Junpei a lot, which is a sacrilege but, ehm, seriously…???? I don’t blame some dude playing in their stories about Junpei being a Jyoumi son, because he’s really a mix of them. People usually like connecting Junpei with Koushiro (and I do too lol) because of the electric/thunder bug theme, but I also adore creating scenarios for Junpei and Mimi ahahah, two spoiled kids coming from rich families always complaining about needing to eat, sleep, getting disgusted so easily….Two needles stuck up your butt, speaking bluntly ahahha.

I have got a lot of ideas about Junzumi x Koumi . In my hcs Izumi will open a restaurant someday and I do believe Mimi would love visiting it. Then, she would invite Izumi to her cooking tv show and Junpei would stop underlining how wife is much better than this Mimi Tachikawa who has come from who knows where. Do you know my wife won two contests, is Gambero Rosso’s favourite guest, her restaurant received compliments from both Terramadre and Slowfood-

Old Sonic sketches(Plus extras)

Found some old sketches I had on DA & wanted to show them. Some sketches have the date I scanned them in the corner of the image because the date changes if I edit them & I had to edit them cause they're all bmp files along with needing editing to be darkened. It's there to show how old they are & cause I found it interesting, if the image doesn't have the date I'll list mention a date that's mentioned in the DA post or something related. Not all the images are in order of date.

The image on the left was posted November 8, 2012 while the one on the right is from August 27, 2013

These were some wedding sketches I drew with the one on the right being a pic I made for a teacher I had in high school.(Graduated 2014) The pic on the left was a Sonadow & Silvaze wedding with Tails catching Sonic's bouquet while Cosmo(who was revived at some point) giggles.(tfw When you might end up marrying next thanks to a moment at your older brother's wedding & your girlfriend knows too)

Shadow & Sonic's rings(on the wrist) was inspired by a comic by Segamew on DA were Shadow used one of his inhibitor rings to propose to Sonic.(Fun fact at the time I didn't know what his rings did past the fact Shadow wore them, I only learned about the reason recently) I use a different idea for mobian wedding items now.

I find it semi funny(semi cause it looks cringy) that when I posted this to DA I was like "I'm using Shadonic instead of Sonadow so fuck you" to be honest this came from past Naruto shipping were ship names go by who is tops. I've gotten over it by now but if I'm not using ship names I still put the top first.

The top images are Monoko from Yume Nikki & Sonic as nightmarens from the NiGHTS series. I might redraw/redesign these one day but dunno. The little mini doodles between them are an old design for my self-insert Sonicsona & Monoko next to me. I don't know the context for them.

An old prototype design idea for revived Cosmo, two versions of her as a plant based deer. I ended up going with a plant based chipmunk in the end.(With help from a friend when I mentioned some suggestions)

I don't fully remember the context behind the pic on the left I just know it was a scrapped idea. I think the idea was Silver visiting the past as a kid & helping Sonic after the reboot or after the reboot in Sonic 06 he was born in the past & made friends with Sonic.(The middle pic is meant to be them before the re-boot) I'm guessing this was before the paper towel comic I made.

The right image is meant to be Sonic walking with his siblings as they unknowingly pass by the spirit of Tikal with a bunch of Chao(plus Sonadow chao) & Chip. Sonic notices him & Chip waves to his future friend. From what I understand the idea is Chip some how got a chance to see Sonic in the past after the events of Sonic Unleashed.(Likely way on DA I named this "Meeting again before I knew you") No idea how Sonic can see them without his glasses on since Underground Sonic is blind without them. According to DA this image didn't need much fixing up.

-Sonic as a young child with his adopted dad after they decided to go frog hunting for the first time

-The idea behind this was Sonic returning to where he grew up before going to live with Uncle Chuck after helping his siblings & mom rebuild the kingdom after defeating Robotnik. I think the idea was that Sonic still met/took in Tails at some point cause there was an idea of Tails bringing Amy, Shadow & the others to meet his older brother.

Version 1 was meant to be Sonic having become more like he use to be before the trauma of losing his adopted parents & losing his confidence thanks to bullying(for being different) & the stress of the war. He's happily being Sonic in the woods he was raised in. Version 2 is just Sonic as I depicted him at the end of Sonic Underground were he has gained confidence but is still slightly timid & very sweet.(No idea why it says "Southern bell-ish" I'm guessing this was the only description I could think of)

-Sonic dressed in his adopted mom's outfit

-Sonic before losing his adopted parents & being taken in by his uncle. Sonic was a happy & energetic, he loves exploring the woods & learning to play music. He's a kid that hasn't fully learned that the world is full of things to fear despite knowing the dangers of going too close to areas everyone knows is Robotnik's territory.(I guess think of Robin from the game The Path were she didn't realize it's dangerous to fall out of a shopping cart nor jump on a werewolf)

The poor kid is in for many horrors when he made the poor choice of hunting for frogs near one of Robotnik's bases.

well decided to make this pic at random so anyways before I vanish again I'm gonna mention that I'm currently packing and getting ready to move so I'm probably going to be busy and won't have internet for a bit after the move to so it may take a bit.

Anyways I always leave info open about my aus as I'm okay with having my ideas inspire others be it art or writing so if you like what you see or read of my stuff feel free to use it as inspiration

my current idea I keep getting in my head is what if Raz's fight or flight instinct turns him into a water created leviathan and he's like the brain [similarly to Perfect Chaos in Sonic Adventure] however he ends up triggering it protecting those he loves when things get dire which means he'll probably need help being stopped/soothed back to being himself.

Getting off topic from the art oof anyways that picture is the Raz from my au which does feature that concept I mentioned to a degree [your all free to throw in ideas as well btw as I don't mind it] now for some info for this au

Alrighty so I'm still working on the Psych au so things may change

[The start of the au is in the spring time and before the events of the first game as Raz has to recover and also psychicly sneak into the summer camp when he's supposed to be on bed rest]

Raz and his family are in a nearby town close to the motherlobe for a spring festival when his family and several people are attacked and killed by brute force and weaponry which causes panic, Raz trying to both save his family and the audience tries using his psychic abilities [since it's before the first game he doesn't have all the abilities to do much yet so he can't really do much except trigger his hydrokinesis], when things don't work out and he's seriously injured he tries playing dead while hiding among the bodies of those who were killed which works to an extent but he gets impatient once the group who attacked and killed people's backs are turned

what Raz didn't expect was someone watching him and go in for an attack themselves and getting Raz to intake a type of poison which caused a seizer like response, fever, and vomiting episodes, and foaming at the mouth and since his injuries had caused mild internal bleeding at the time he was also throwing up blood however due to his psychic power he did manage to cry out for help psychicly which he managed to lower his defenses to do in a time of need and since he did quite a bit of comic reading had a feeling he knew where the motherlobe was but also makes a psychic cry for help as he made a last ditch effort in case there were off duty Psychonauts close to the area that were heading to the festival which thankfully does work and he gets rescued along with some survivors he managed to save via a call for help using his psychic power before the poison started giving him negative effects

Raz had to be medically transported and treated by the Psychonaut medics as Raz is a psychic in severe distress so he ends up meeting Sasha and Milla that way, Sasha and Milla since they work with kids via the summer camp know and understand first aid, Sasha knowing a bit about poisons as well so they had to help Raz detox his body from the poison on top of aiding with the physical wounds and internal bleeding which has Raz stuck in bed and has two of his favorite agents because of the comics Raz knows Sasha and Milla due to said comics and because of what happened to him he's now being cared for by them

Overtime Raz with see Milla and Sasha as like secondary/adopted parents and when he's healthy and strong enough will learn to be a Psychonaut with their help however since Maligula is dead and he doesn't have full control over his hydrokinesis which means a lot more training then normal.

Ford in this Au due to the deaths of Lucrecia/Lucy/Nona and Augustus probably has some if not all his memories back however probably doesn't want to tell Raz anything about it but will teach Raz psychic abilities and end up like a grandfather/great uncle figure to Raz when they do meet.

Raz is still going to try and sneak to camp however when he's told he can go but not participate in camp activities that require him being 100% he's not going to be happy about it but it also means he's stuck having to stick by Milla and Sasha most of the time as well which also gets him to learn things from both of them [on top of some science stuff and other things from Sasha like math and physics while Milla teaches Raz how to cook, read, and write [I can see both Sasha and Milla teaching Raz their native languages just because they can and they can keep some conversations to themselves because of it.

Raz being at camp and stopping Oleander even though he shouldn't be straining himself just to prove he's getting better is just a way to get the parental energyed scolding to take more care of himself [by Milla and Sasha] Raz was only there due to getting fresh air and be around other kids to help with interacting and hanging out with other kids [he does end up having Lili and Dogen as friends however he does speak to Crystal and Clem some who cheer for his recovery though he does having a chat with them here and there]

Raz does end up being a big help in the Rhombus of Ruin mission to rescue Truman which does cause Lili to like him more as Raz does show he's got a kind heart and seems to be a stronger psychic then he looks though Lili doesn't outright declare Raz as her boyfriend yet [this part of the au stays relatively the same as the main story just some slight alterations as he's not supposed to be straining himself]

The 2nd game stays relatively the same as well just with the interns kinda knowing Raz a little bit due to him being in the medical ward due to what happened to him and the people where harmed but they still don't fully trust Raz but understand that he's not a full on threat and the fact that he wears his heart on his sleeve and could be manipulated by the mole so they try to divert Raz with other things and some shenanigans ensue but they do end up getting to know Raz more that way and where Lili will start to be more open with how she feels about Raz, though one big difference is that Raz is the new target as he knows hydrokinesis and because of his heritage/bloodline [so the leviathan idea could work out for this part] and with him going into a fight or flight response Ford would be rather quick to react and know what to do to help Raz though he would need help from more agile people due to his age.

Anyways I'm going to end that there since I'm rambling lol

Even with a week of advance, I'm still kind of overwhelmed with all the stuff I need to do this month. I published the 1st part of Chapter 9 early and I thought woah now I have more time to finish what I need for the anniversary since now I only need to finish the next part for the 14, but knowing myself, I'll stress and start planning on publishing the next part early too. I almost finished all the preparations for the 9th, but most of it I'll have to do it at the last minute. My quiz is almost finished. I only have 7 pics to finish for the ranking and I successfully contacted all my fanartists so all that is settled. Funnily enough, the 9th is Contained's anniversary but also my boyfriend's birthday~ I hope that I won't produce a bad quality parts while rushing everything like that. Especially now that Zach is working a lot more and I don't want to harass him too much with Contained's corrections. ✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰

Speaking of this new chapter of Contained, I have 3 different packs of notes for how everything is going this chapter and I havent properly settled it yet, so for the 1st part, I was unsure of what I was doing and ended up adding multiple panels in between panels or changing dialogs at the last minute, what is not good. I really need to take the time to go over all the versions and stop changing my mind while drawing the final version. Hopefully after the 9th, I'll be more relaxed about everything and will be able to focus better. I ended up quite happy about this part, but I'm worried that the discussion might feel too stiff. I'm glad I cut it there and published it early instead of butchering the next part along the way. ✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ I certainly shouldn't stress myself to publish a part exactly each week the rest of the year. I need to take the time to switch myself into the story and review the part in my head properly so I won't regret what I'm writing. So even if I draw faster I should aim more at 9 days in between parts ? 10 ? Still better than 1 part per month, and I mean for any comic, not one in particular. I would have liked having more time for myself but more I think about it and more I feel like you never know what will happen in the future and I really want to publish as much of those as I can while I can.

lightning field - sneaker pimps! i initially found this song for my star wars dnd character (lady-107 my beloved) and it's been living rent-free in my head ever since. it's very on par with constantine's simultaneous regret and lack of it when he inevitably sticks his nose where it doesn't belong and gets cosmic, karmic backlash for it: he always needs to know what's going on, no matter how ugly it is. he makes himself look at the worst that the world has to offer, even when he doesn't want to. and he's always got this inner monologue of 'should have left it alone, shouldn't have opened the door, should have asked the questions', but he just keeps doing it anyway, and he doesn't give a flying fuck about the consequences so long as he gets the answers he wants.

ballroom blitz - sweet! this has been my car ride scream-along song since i was a teenager, AND it's some quintessential rich-the-punk-era constantine to boot!! absolutely balls to the wall bar fight banger, with a flair of hellblazer unreality to taste. there's no meta for this one, other than a nod to the 2019 john constantine: hellblazer ending that's due to be continued in january, this is just a get-off-your-ass-and-dance classic.

war pigs - CAKE! this cover and t-pain's are two of my FAVORITE covers ever made, and i feel like assigning constantine the band that did short skirt / long jacket is simply the right thing to do. aside from the obvious political commentary that aligns beautifully with constantine's attitudes towards bloodthirsty politicians and war, it specifically makes me think about the early warning - how i learned to love the bomb storyline in hellblazer issues 25-26, where a dying country town of brainwashed people worship a nuclear warhead at the neighboring american missile base. there's some really fascinating commentary in that issue, and of course it ends tragically, but there's also a sick panel of constantine (who cannot drive) doing donuts in a parking lot with a hot-wired car blasting music at top volume. the lyrics are so well-aligned to the story that i'm almost certain this was their inspiration for that two-parter:

[The Keihancarl Diaries: May 18, 2024]

The weather app on my smartphone says it’s gonna rain on a Saturday. Not something I look forward to on a mall-hopping trip, but I guess (if that really happens) I’ll just deal with it for now considering that the weather’s been so scorching hot these past few weeks. I just hoped that the air wouldn’t be as humid as hell.

So I’m wearing red and black this time, and something plain too. I need to make the most out of that trip so I was planning on leaving the house around 9:00 AM (I ended up leaving the house just an hour later). In case you’re wondering, it’s Bonifacio Global City this time. And I’m definitely going to have a great time there too, with my first visit to Mitsukoshi BGC, which opened in 2022.

It was still sunny when I left, but I knew it might rain at some point, probably in the afternoon. Traffic along Commonwealth Avenue is mostly light, except in some areas. I reached the MRT at 11:30 AM. The traffic at North Avenue totally killed my mood. It sucks since I always have high expectations for almost everything.

I decided to reload my beep card (I managed to drop my bag while trying to get some coins in my purse) and take the MRT to Guadalupe Station. Along the way, the Kamuning Flyover is being rehabilitated and the construction of the Metro Manila Subway Quezon Avenue Station has commenced. Approaching Shaw Boulevard Station, however, the train came to a sudden halt, and an announcement came shortly after that. Upon reaching the next station, we were told to switch to another train, as the one we were riding had a problem.

Getting off at MRT Guadalupe Station, I immediately took a jeepney to McKinley Hill, where my first destination, Venice Grand Canal Mall, is. It’s been four and a half years since I last visited the area (and the entire Fort area, including BGC, in general) so I had a hard time familiarizing myself with the area once again. If not for Google Maps, then I would’ve gotten lost.

Getting to Venice Grand Canal Mall, I decided to check the space where Fully Booked used to be, which is now occupied by Coffee Bean And Tea Leaf and/or Randy’s Doughnuts (I believe it’s the latter). I then went inside the mall area and had lunch at Takoyadon (Food Hall), but I bought a drink at the nearby Marketplace Supermarket first. It was a gyudon donburi, but it’s strange enough that it is actually made from Angus beef (it was clearly stated in the menu). I had to pay extra for an egg, but I wouldn’t mind. It didn’t took me long enough to finish my food using only chopsticks.

I then took some selfies by the bridge, but the pics didn’t really look great, partly due to my figure. God, I hate how I look, with that ugly double chin and all that. It didn’t help that the pandemic made me look like that.

Besides the supermarket, I didn’t check any of the shops inside the mall. I didn’t get to check the Venice Piazza as well. I ended up spending more than an hour at the mall, mostly taking selfies by the bridge (with the nice view of the canal and the surrounding buildings). I could’ve done that in about fifteen minutes or so if only I looked like my pre-pandemic self and I wasn’t completely stressed out.

Next stop, SM Aura. I only checked a few shops and had a fruit tea drink at Gong Cha. At this rate, I was getting really cranky due to some earlier inconveniences, especially the heavy traffic on North Avenue. Of course, the extreme heat adds up to the crankiness I’m experiencing. Once I sat down and finished my drink, I felt a little okay.

Passing by the Fully Booked branch there, I got a free comic book as part of Free Comic Book Day in all of its stores in Metro Manila and Luzon. It was an excerpt from The Drifting Classroom by Kazuo Umezu.

Both the Food On Four and the cinemas had been renovated for some time. The former appeared to have an artificial skylight, as opposed to the previous one which is actually a skylight. But the entire area was a lot brighter than before.

As for the cinemas, I was quite impressed with the lobby. Not sure if the IMAX is still there, I didn’t bother to check due to time constraints.

Checking the SkyPark, there was a temporary mini golf area and an art installation.

Going back to the upper ground floor, H&M took over Forever 21’s former space. The latter closed its branch there in 2010.

Next stop, Market Market. I only checked the Booksale branch there. As usual, there are fewer manga books, and none of them interest me.

Heading to the biggest Fully Booked branch (the flagship megastore) at the Bonifacio High Street, I decided to check every single floor of this building… except the fourth floor and the basement (both are closed off for some reason). The manga books and light novels were transferred to the second floor, along with comic books and some of the music CDs and vinyls. These used to dominate the entire fourth floor until a few years ago.

There were no more free comic books, as was the case with the other Fully Booked branches I visited later. Luckily, there were a few free comics left at the SM Aura branch when I got there a little earlier.

After that, I took a moment to check some of the shops at BHS, and then went to my next destination: Uptown Bonifacio and of course, Mitsukoshi BGC. It was a kilometer walk from BHS, but I wouldn’t mind.

I passed by The Turf and saw football players practicing there. Later on, just as I was getting closer to my next destination, I managed to sprain my left foot a little, but I could still walk just fine.

And finally, I get to revisit the Uptown Mall for the first time in almost seven years. While I didn’t check any of the shops there, I took a moment to admire its upscale interiors. I also check the alfresco area as well. I even get to see a glimpse of Mitsukoshi BGC from there.

On to the next destination, I noticed a passageway heading to a residential building across the road (but it also says more shops, if I recall correctly). I decided to take the passageway until I reached the basement level of One Uptown Residence, where several wellness and service shops are located. I got out via the basement level access towards 36th Street and took a short walk to Mitsukoshi BGC.

The first Japanese-inspired mall in the Philippines, it features a mix of local and global brands (including renowned Japanese brands), designer labels, cafes, and restaurants. There’s a food hall (Itadaki Food Court), a supermarket (Mitsukoshi Fresh), a bookstore (Fully Booked x Books Kinokuniya), and a furniture and home furnishing shop (Nitori). There were gacha capsule machines too.

I checked some shops, including Fully Booked x Kinokuniya, and later headed to the third level to check Nitori.

I was amazed at some of the items in that store. I then checked the bedding section and the home office section. I didn’t get to check some parts of the shop, though.

It was already 6:00 PM and I was getting hungry so I decided to check out the basement level where the food court and the supermarket are. It took me a while to decide where to eat. I initially considered MOS Burger but after checking some of the other food stalls, I decided to have katsu curry at Nadai Fujisoba instead.

But first, just like earlier, I bought my drinks at Mitsukoshi Fresh (the supermarket). I decided on a bottled water and a grape-flavored vitamin boost drink. The latter was definitely not gentle on the throat, but I chose it anyway since it says anti-stress boost, something that I really need at the moment since I was incredibly stressed during some parts of the trip. I could’ve bought a box of UCC iced creamy coffee mix, the pineapple caramel one, but I hold off for now. Anyway, the katsu curry is great, though there’s a bit too much curry sauce which is more than enough to cover the rice.

Heading out, it was already dark but I managed to enjoy walking back to Bonifacio High Street. Along the way, I saw a full moon in the sky, some interesting shops, a standalone Uniqlo store, and from a good distance, Landmark BGC (I don’t know if it’s only a supermarket or it also includes the department store).

I reached the BHS Central Square within fifteen minutes and immediately checked the Muji branch there. At the cinema level, the Lawson convenience store has taken over the space of FamilyMart. I also get to see one of the 3D billboards from the large window, where I used to take numerous selfies on my previous visits.

I visited the nearby One Bonifacio High Street, but I didn’t check any of the shops.

And finally, Burgos Circle. I managed to take some pictures of the sculpture against an illuminated background and that was that. The area along Forbestown Road looks better at night.

It was quarter to 8:00, and I was debating whether I should visit One Ayala Makati or not. Anyway, I managed to take the BGC Bus to McKinley Exchange and got to the MRT Ayala Station faster than expected. I decided to check the Fully Booked branch at One Ayala Makati and take a short trip to the restroom. I also happened to run across a couple of cosplayers, as FanFes was taking place at The Spaces at One Ayala, at the fifth level, which I thought to be the cinema level on my previous visit a few months ago. I didn’t bother checking the upper floors since I really needed to get home as soon as possible.

I took the MRT and initially planned to get off at either Cubao or Quezon Avenue stations, but I ended up getting off at North Avenue station instead for some reason. I was so busy uploading the photos to my Instagram accounts during the entire MRT ride that I never paid attention to where I was supposed to get off. Man, that turned out to be the worst decision I made, since I had to wait for about 20 minutes before I got to ride the UV Express to SM Fairview from Trinoma. Traffic isn’t that bad along Commonwealth Avenue so I got there in about 30 to 40 minutes. It was already 10:20 PM when I got home from that exhausting trip.

Sure, the trip was kind of fun, but the traffic along North Avenue and McKinley Parkway (near SM Aura/Market Market) nearly ruined my day (and my mood). Well, at least it didn’t rain throughout the entire mall-hopping trip, but the incredibly hot weather made me feel extremely exhausted and cranky throughout the trip. And yeah, I’m quite terrible with time management these days, just like the previous mall-hopping trip to CAMANAVA (Karuhatan, Valenzuela and Monumento, Caloocan) and Manila (Binondo and Ermita) areas. I wished it wouldn’t end up the same on my subsequent mall-hopping trips.

I might consider the Ortigas and Greenhills areas next. But when this will happen will be completely up to me. Well, I’m either targeting July or August for this trip.

Anyway, that’s all for the third week of #TheFourWeekendPlan. I can’t wait to return to my favorite hangout place for the final week of TFWP and enjoy my frappuccino. And I’m looking forward to my first ever trip to Baguio (as part of the company outing) by the end of the month (it’s only a week away). Until then, sayonara!

G-Watch: Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla (1974) Watched:  01/26/2024 Format:  Max Viewing:  Second-ish Director:  Jun Fukuda Selection:  moi Look, this week at work was a rough one, and next week is looking to be more of same.  I am tired.  And so, after watching another episode of the phenomenal fifth season of Fargo,* I put on Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974).   This movie is remarkably silly, makes no sense in parts, forgets its a monster movie for long stretches, and does nothing to develop or differentiate any of the characters, seemingly adding them as the movie goes along to help fill plot holes. The real showcase is, of course, Godzilla versus a giant robot version of himself that space aliens for a black hole(?) have built in order to take over the Earth.  Or, at least, whatever part of Earth is near the robot.  Initially, it's disguised as Godzilla, but to what end?  I cannot say.  Because they almost immediately remove the facade, and it seems like a robot is just as much a problem as the real Godzilla in how it's being deployed - by rampaging.   However, we're also dealing with a prophetic vision seen by a young woman priestess/ heir to a once great dynasty on Okinawa.  There's a prophesy to go along with it regarding two monsters joining forces to fight a great threat, but it seems odd the ancients knew Mechagodzilla was coming?  There's nothing magic about a giant robot, except the love we should all feel for Mechagodzilla. Anyway, this movie's main, non giant kaiju feature is a villain in a shiny jumpsuit who keeps smoking cigars.  I love this guy.  He really enjoys his work. The one caveat is that this is around when Toho thought they needed to add blood.  So things get weird when MechaG really messed up Anguirus (he's fiiiiine) and then G himself (also: fine).  Also:  melting alien faces. It's a fun pic, and while I don't think there's big life lessons to be learned, and it's confusing sorting out who all of these people are from time to time, this first appearance by MechaG is pretty stellar.  Where else will you find a 20-story robot that shoots rainbows out of its eyes? *Juno Temple and Jennifer Jason Leigh busily confirming they're somheow even better than you thought, and Richa Moorjani putting in a bid for "damn, put her in more stuff" in a fine breakdown of myth and Fargo's patented exploration of good and evil  https://ift.tt/74jsZ0Y via The Signal Watch https://ift.tt/5SVm8JY January 29, 2024 at 05:17PM

A  Random Review of Titans United: Bloodpact

Sorry some of these pics are blurry. Some are really big and Tumblr doesn’t like them. So Hopefully they’re still readable.

For the simple reason of me enjoying how Tim Drake was drawn on the cover of the issue I decided to read it, despite me mostly choosing not to read any modern comic, because of my displeasure of the writing choices.

But Tim’s pretty unlucky with artists and how they draw him so seeing this was enough for me to give it a quick look.

I don’t exactly need a deep reason to read a comic.

But it ended up being a very pleasant surprise, because I wasn’t expecting much since it was a Titans comic, and apparently has the line-up of the live action show that I thought was boring. And used T-Shirt Kon, who I don’t particularly favor.

It ended being a surprisingly fun read. Not a really deep one, or a completely smooth read, but a really fun read.

Most of the first issue is a big fight, so instead of actual character moments, it’s more like “OH NOW IT’S THIS PERSON’S CHANCE TO SAY A LINE, AND NOW THEIRS” and so on. So if you’re reading because you love Starfire or Donna Troy or someone, you aren’t going to get much out of this first issue.

However to my shock, it was mostly focused on Tim Drake.

And all around has a damn good Tim Drake in it.

Tim Drake even inside the book and not just on it’s cover is very clearly identifiable as Tim Drake. Making him the smallest member of the team, along with his famously notable baby-face, big eyes, and classic hairstyle. Things that, despite literally being his description within the comics themselves, have a hard time being depicted often enough that it’s considered a pain.

He actually starts the comic off in his normal clothes, and before I read a single line I could tell it was Tim, because of how he was drawn, which isn’t always the case sadly. Sometimes he can be in costume and I’ll not be sure if it’s Tim because it doesn’t look like him.

This isn’t only a thing for Tim as well. All the other characters are drawn very distinctly so that if they were in streetwear as well, you could also tell who they are very easily. (On a side note I quite like the clothes they put Tim in. Simple, and comfy. Just feels very Timmy. Never a fan of when they dress him up extra formal or something, and tired of the generic button up look on him.)

Compared to someone like Dan Mora, who while also being a fantastic artist. Basically draws Tim Drake Robin and Dick Grayson Robin as the exact same person in a different outfit. Which isn’t favorable.

It’s increasingly rare to see an artist put in the effort to make sure the characters look like themselves if they don’t fit the typical depiction of a super hero, so it was a very welcomed addition.

Only one who looks a bit off might be Conner, who, apart from my opinion on his costume in this, just looks a little bit off. I think it might be the hair, ‘cause I don’t think he’s ever had a haircut like this.

But that’s a nit-pick if I’ve ever heard. So really, who gives a damn.

I’m mostly just having fun seeing Tim pop up all tiny-like in several panels. With several moments showing the team being a bit protective for him, which also feels right back at home for Tim. Never in any overwhelming way, but in a way that feels right without being distracting. Never making it too much about Tim that he feels overbearing when it’s a team book.

The writings also very fun, and writes the characters, it does put a bit more of a spotlight on pretty well. It starts off sort of old school with it’s style of narration, but it gives it a really interesting charm that I appreciated.

Beast Boy has his usual snarky, self-absorbed-ish attitude. And I really enjoyed how Dick and some of the other more typical Titans have a more mature attitude to them, that shows that are grown and serious.

Which is so satisfying in the way of Dick Grayson, because let me tell you, I am so sick of the depiction of Dick Grayson as a some sort of man child or doofus. He’s been a very serious, concerned, hard of himself, workaholic since maybe even before the 80s. To strip that away just to make him a sitcom character always came across as disrespectful for me.

Tim, who again, is the surprising focus of this first issue, and possibly the rest of the comic going off of how important he is to the beginning in end of the issue, but we’ll have to see on that, but anyways, is written very well.

I was super pleased with how Tim was written, because it felt like a fully rounded version of him, and not a fraction of him, or a generic hero that a writer placed his name on.

It shows how naturally heroic he is instantly, but doesn’t overwhelm the reader with that to the point he’s horrendously boring.

It’s the best representation of Tim Drake and Dick Grayson’s actual relationship in years. It’s not just redoing something they did 20 to 30 years ago. It’s new content of them being baby brother and big brother, having a back and forth full of teasing.

Seeing Timmy have his bratty baby brother side be shown for the first time in a way that’s felt authentic in years has been wonderful, even if it’s only for a page or two, because it sucks me in to this world, believing it’s actually in the same universe as the stories I love, instead of butchering it. It feels natural, because it’s them, not a pandering mess. It’s just them being them, and they’re fantastic together.

Timmy Drake also has his very very boyish and juvenile energy back. And is also made clear to be the ultimate underdog of the DC Universe, also very representative of who Tim is. Again, adding more layers to him, that represent who he is, through natural dialogue that feels appropriate for the moment, and authentic as if these are real people living in this fantasy and sci-fi laced world.

And overall when it comes to Tim, really shows how simple it honestly is to write the kid. He is not a difficult character to write. It’s done with such ease that I adore it.

These are such small moments into the overall, but it doesn’t matter, because seeing a Tim Drake just be Tim Drake, and showing off his different layers is a rarity. It is probably the best Tim writing since issue 1 of Sum of Our Parts, since...sadly Fitzmartin has shown that she isn’t really a great writer...and has...bad tendencies that really just insult the audience.

Could this also happen with this writer? Very well possibly. But that’s just how it is. Some writers stay good. Some writers are good but have bad moments. Some writers are bad and have good moments. In the end these writers are people, and people aren’t perfect. The same way I’m not perfect, and you’re not perfect. It’s simply how it is, as disheartening as it can be at times.

In the end it’s just fun, and represents them well. Though I’m just now realizing after posting that panel that Gar just said their real names which is...not very hero-y but oh well. It happens.

At the end of the story even it shows Tim’s good heart, empathy, and detectively mind without going overboard to the point it feels like flanderization.

There’s not much I can say beyond it’s overall super solid, and super satisfying if you’re a Tim Drake fan. Wish I could say more about the other characters. But they all seem to know each other, creating a nice big open world feel, and it’s nice. Sort of homely, ignoring how there’s a major fight happening. It makes the world feel real, which is rare, when so many other comics end up so inconsistent it never feels right.

I’d recommend reading it for sure.

It just goes to show that the good stuff doesn’t come from changing the characters in random ways.

The good stuff comes from putting our favorite characters in fun situations that highlight their personalities.

And Titans United: Bloodpact does it in spades.

Bangel Appreciation Week Day 6: Favorite Bangelus Moment.

So, I'm really going to do this. I wasn't sure I wanted to for a plethora of reasons, and yet I find myself drawn to doing it anyway, for some reason even though I'm worried I may anger people, because this whole thing--as well as all of s8, tbh --is a touchy subject.

But let's talk about Twilight from the Buffy comics.

For those who don't know, Twilight is pretty much a third persona of Angel's. And if you're wondering why I'm talking about a third persona of Angel's for Angelus day, I'll get to that in a minute. But first off, Twilight is this identity that Angel made up (that he wore a mask with, thus concealing his identity), where he pretended that he was allying with the U.S. government, who wanted to destroy the Slayers, but really he was a double-agent trying to lessen any damage that they would cause the Slayer army.

But there's also more to him than that. He ended up buying into this prophecy that Whistler told him about (what Twilight!Angel was really trying to do all of season eight), that he needed to ascend to godhood (he'd already started to ascend some) and then mate with Buffy--after she'd become a goddess herself--in order to give birth to a new universe, for the next stage of human evolution.

And Whistler pretty much told Angel that this way saved the world--though there would be some collateral damage along the way to get there--and it was this choice, or the Earth got sucked into Hell. And after having just gotten back out of Hell a second time, having nearly lost all of his friends to untimely demises (therefore he's traumatized and not in his right mind at all), and somewhat selfishly wanting this reward and to finally be with Buffy, yeah, Angel goes along with it. Edit: Buffy was also threatened, too, to get Angel to agree to this.

But it doesn't even end there, because Angel had somewhat been possessed by Twilight to do this: yeah, the universe that he and Buffy would eventually create together basically almost went back in time, if you will, to possess its father to make sure it got created... because wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.

So what does this have to do with Angelus, you ask? Because Twilight's personality is a large combination of Angel and Angelus' in my mind, so my favorite "Angelus" moment might actually come from here because of that?

"But wait," you say. "How can Angelus be there if Angel still has his soul?" To be honest, I think that Angelus is the demon inside of Angel that's always there waiting for him to slip up. The devil on his shoulder, if you will. I know Drusilla, S*pike, and Faith feel that way about it, too, even if Angel seemed in denial about that idea in the comics, saying that Angelus hadn't been with him since he got his soul back. Drusilla then tried to shoot that idea down by uttering something along the lines of, "When that doughnut shot owner you tried to save got shot and you gave in despite yourself, who was it whispering in your ear to drink his blood? Angelus. Is it that Angelus left the moment you got your soul back, or that he's always the devil in your ear trying to get you to be overcome," totally paraphrasing here, and I probably butchered that quote, but you get the idea.

And I know when Angel got the prophecy in "After the Fall" about what would happen in "season 8" (and he wanted to fight against it, and wanted to die so it wouldn't happen), I think there was a panel talking about how all the death delighted his demon or something like that. And if we're following the above logic, then that would mean Angelus was delighted there and maybe all of this in season 8 was really bringing him to the forefront, then.

But even more than all of that... there's just so much in season 8, where Angel seems Angelus-y with his plans "against" Buffy. And the fact that he's weirdly calling her "Buff", which Angel has never done and we've only ever seen Angelus do.

Man, this post is getting long, but I feel it's going to get even longer. But bear with me, guys. If we look at Twilight as a sort of in-between Angel and Angelus like I do, we can probably sort of grasp how/why Angelus is for sure in love with Buffy next in season 10. And he is (he's jealous that Buffy is with Spike instead of him and that's why he attacks Spike):

But I also feel this sort of explains some things about the whole Bangel and Bangelus/S*puffy debacle.

A lot of people think that S*puffy is better than Bangel because S*pike fell in love with Buffy without a soul, but what people tend to forget is at the start that was a bastardization of love. And he did things like wanting to kill Buffy (like Angelus did), stealing her clothes, making the Buffy sexbot, listening to her and Riley have sex, chaining her up and threatening to kill her if she didn't say she returned his feelings, trying to rape her, etc... all kinds of horrible things (it seems that this is how vampires "show love"), and without the chip, and especially the soul later on, monitoring and altering his behavior, we probably would have never seen more of the pure love from S*pike towards Buffy.

Angel, of course, starts out meeting and falling for Buffy with his soul. But once he temporarily loses it, this very vicious demon housed in his body is ANGRY for having been muzzled for a hundred years. And he despises that his souled-self fell in love with Buffy, his mortal enemy--and blames her for it, we know--and she made him "his lap dog" and everything he was supposed to be against (protecting the innocent, killing his own kind, etc.), and thus completely lashes out at her. But even during all of this, I think the demon still had feelings for Buffy edit: bastardized feelings, I should say. Like Spike's own without a soul (feelings Angelus' very much in denial about and wishes he didn't have), as I think that's part of the reasons he never kills Buffy the millions of times he could have (this also matches S*pike being unable to kill the Slayer because of his own feelings for her). Yes, Angelus says it's because it lacks poetry and it's also because he wants to make her insane and suffer first, but I think at least part of that is a lie.

But I think the Twilight thing (where "Angelus there" is also part Angel, which reigns him in some) was almost like Angelus' own "chip moment", which is what served to make him fully accept his feelings for Buffy by season 10 (I think there might be some other contributing factors, too, like Buffy's death in S5 maybe having made him realize he cares about her and doesn't want her dead, after all. But this post is as long as is, so I'll shut up and not get into all of them).

Basically, in some ways, if the shoe had been on the different foot, I think Angel and S*pike's love stories for Buffy could have played out the opposite way, because the two characters and their stories aren't THAT different. They just happened in different orders. Angel could have been the one to fall in love with Buffy without a soul. And Spike could have been the one cursed with one, who then lost it and lashed out at her before getting it back. -shrugs-

And that not be the thing to say during Bangel Week, but it's just how I feel. And I'm even kind of anti-S*puffy now, and not really saying that to champion them here (I'm actually saying some of this to fight against some of the "This is why S*puffy is better" arguments I see), but fair is fair.

Summary: You and Benny can't seem to get enough of each other's company. Could tonight be the night you find the courage to do something about that crush?

Notes: I don't always participate in Writer Wednesday, but when I do I take one look at the picture, get an idea and then go completely off the rails. Sorry. So the pic doesn't really have a lot to do with the rest of the fic but I hope that's okay. For this week's @autumnleaves1991-blog Writer Wednesday, thanks for organizing it every week!

I had the idea for midnight shopping at the supermarket with Benny and then realized I didn't want the night to end there... So it didn't. I actually like this piece, even if it probably suffered a lot from my fast writing and non-existent editing. Reader is mentioned having shorter legs than Benny but other than that I think there are no descriptions or pronouns used of reader, lmk if I'm wrong.

MASTERLIST

You and Benny have been driving around aimlessly for a couple of hours already, taking turns in picking the music, and talking about this and that while sometimes falling into a companionable silence. It still amazes you how easy and comfortable everything is with him. You have never felt like this with a crush before, used to the feeling of always obsessing over what you felt like you could and couldn’t say or do, or spending a lot of time and energy into trying to figure out what the other thought.

No, with Benny you don’t have to pretend anything or force yourself to keep the conversation running in fear of those horrid awkward silences, because both of you know that you can talk for hours on end when the mood strikes. You met through mutual friends only a few weeks ago, but the connection was clearly there. As was the obvious mutual attraction.

Strictly speaking, though, you and Benny are just friends. Nothing has ever really happened to indicate otherwise in any case. But friends don’t usually try this hard to find any excuse just to hang out, nor do you stay up late every night talking to your other friends. And when you hang out in a group you always seem to gravitate towards one another. What’s more, somehow it always seems to be just the two of you left at the end of the night, often not even noticing the others leave.

Your interactions always border on the line of obvious flirting with your touches and already formed inside jokes, but neither of you ever dare do anything that couldn’t be brushed off as innocent behavior between friends. You guess you’re both just kind of scared to take the leap - you have been burned before, and so has he.

It’s not that you doubt your own feelings for Benny, or indeed his feelings for you. Even you have to admit that he does seem pretty interested in you, but you still wave away your friends’ squeals of “he’s totally in love with you!”, mainly not wanting to get your hopes up too much.

Because a small part of you still finds it a little hard to believe; someone so handsome and funny and kind wanting to be with you? What if he likes you, but just not as much as you like him? What if you were just a second choice for someone you really like until something better comes along - again? That scares you, both of you.

Tonight has been like many other nights lately; you had been to the movies with some of your friends, but after the movie ended you had been grasping at straws to come up with a way to continue the night so they (Benny) wouldn’t go home just yet. Benny had helpfully suggested just driving around and seeing if any ideas came to mind.

Santiago in turn had rolled his eyes at you two knowingly (making both you and Benny fluster and try to fake complete nonchalance) before saying good night and leaving with the others, who apparently didn’t feel the compulsive need to continue spending time together.

The sun has gone down already but you two are still enjoying each other’s company too much to go home yet.

You end up in the 24/7 supermarket parking lot, craving a midnight snack. You are reminded of your teenage years, when you used to hang around different parking lots, popping into the store to buy a soda or a candy bar, spending all day outside with friends.

The only other customers doing their midnight shopping are tired people just off their shifts or young people staying up late just for the hell of it, much like you and Benny are, in fact. You wander around the huge store together, pointing out different products you’d like to try and reviewing stuff one of you already has tried.

Before long you realize that you have already spent almost forty minutes idly wandering around the supermarket, collecting new soda or chip flavors to test. Neither of you thought to grab a basket at the entrance, so your arms are starting to get a bit full.

“Benny, do you think this might be enough?” you ask while struggling to maintain your hold on the different bags of chips.

Benny looks back at you from where he is pondering over whether to get some ice cream. “Huh, I guess. I do still wanna get a sandwich, though!” he exclaims and promptly takes off in the direction of the deli counter where they sell sandwiches and salads left over from the day.

You try to keep up with his long strides, certain that you must look a bit comical half-running after a man with your hands full of treats. Oh, well. Benny often complains about how much focus it requires of him to “modify his steps” to fit your much shorter legs, and he always forgets about it when he gets excited.

When you catch up with him, he has already picked a sandwich for himself and one for you. “I got you salmon, that’s your favorite, right?”

“Yeah, thanks!” you say a little breathlessly after your speed-walk, taken that he remembers.

As you finally get to the cash register and start loading your stuff in your bag you see Benny sneak one more candy bar among the rest of your purchases. For someone in such good physical shape he sure does like his candy.

“Where to next?” Benny inquires as you get back to the car.

“Hmm, how about this one waterfront type swimming spot? It’s pretty secluded, has a pier, and there’s a nice view to the sea. I sometimes like to sit there on the cliffs to watch the sun go down,” you suggest, and offer him directions to the place.

It’s a short drive and you show Benny where to park his car. Even though it’s somewhere around 1 a.m. and the sun went down hours ago, the night is still light enough that you can easily see where you’re going and it doesn’t feel like you’re just sitting in the dark.

You settle down on the small pier with your sandwiches and sodas and chips and munch away happily.

Benny hands you the candy bar you saw him grab earlier at the cash register “for dessert”. It has a cheesy text on the packaging about giving this to someone special. He grins and shrugs, “I know you love these”.

It’s such a simple gesture but you can’t help feeling really flattered and even more smitten with him than you already were. You don’t read too much into the text on the packaging, but even the fact that he would buy you a candy bar he knows you love - just because - warms your heart.

(What you don’t know is that the candy bars have lots of different texts to choose from, and that Benny specifically picked “give this to someone special” instead of “give this to a friend”. There was also “give this to someone you love”, but Benny worried that might scare you off.)

After you’re both done with snacking you try to think of what to do next, still reluctant to pronounce this night to be over, you get an idea.

“You know what I would really like to do right now?” you ask Benny, looking out over the water that looks so tempting. “Go swim,” you announce, turning to look at him.

“You don’t have a swimsuit with you, do you?” Benny asks, turning to look at you too.

“No… But there’s no one here,” you point out with your eyebrows raised in challenge.

Benny looks at you for a few beats with a blank expression on his face, before shrugging “Alright,” and throwing off his hoodie and t-shirt, jeans following next. “What are you waiting for?” he shouts over his shoulder as he jumps from the pier into the water.

You’re left sitting there with your mouth open, blinking rapidly as you try to catch up with the fast turn of events. Shaking your head, you stand up and shrug off your clothes before quickly running after Benny and getting into the refreshing water.

The night is still warm, and the water feels wonderful. You swim to catch up with Benny.

“You know, it’s pretty dark here but I’ve basically seen you naked now,” he remarks, waggling his eyebrows, and you snort with laughter.

“Benny, you’re not allowed to make me laugh in the water or I’ll drown,” you try to say sternly.

“Oh sweetheart, I wouldn’t let you drown,” he answers in a surprisingly serious voice.

Suddenly the energy between you is full of.. something. Something new and buzzing, sort of scary but also exciting. Something you can’t quite explain. You’re swimming around each other, looking at each other intently, but not daring to say anything that would break the moment and burst the bubble.

Someone else does that for you.

A couple of teenage girls, you’d guess around 18 years old, stumble on to the pier and immediately notice you two in the water. The other girl lets out a shriek and tightens her hold on the towel around her, and before you can even try to reassure them that everything is fine, they run off giggling and shrieking some more. Evidently, they had had the same idea for a nighttime swim but found the place already occupied.

“Yeahhhh, maybe we should put some clothes on before someone calls the police,” Benny suggests dryly.

You two climb out of the water giggling and grinning broadly. You don’t have any towels with you since you didn’t exactly plan this impromptu skinny-dipping session, but Benny gives you his hoodie to help keep you warm.

Sitting back down next to Benny you’re even closer together now than earlier, ever so slowly inching closer and closer to each other. Both of you think you could pass it off as huddling for warmth if the other were to question it, but somehow you know that won’t be an issue.

Soon enough you’re snuggling together on the waterfront overlooking the sea. You stay quietly like that for some time, maybe fifteen minutes, maybe more. It’s hard to tell when the world is so still and quiet around you.

Suddenly you think that this is it, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. In all honesty you sort of enjoy the pining stage of new relationships, but right now you feel like you might burst if you keep these feelings inside you any longer.

You turn and burrow your head into the crook of his neck and decide that you will have to take the leap now. You start pressing gentle kisses on his neck and hear Benny’s breath hitch at the first contact of your lips on his skin. He goes still as a statue, but you can feel more than hear his unsteady breathing at your actions. You’re practically vibrating with nervous excitement as you work your way up to his jaw and towards his lips.

Taking one final deep breath you close your eyes, not daring to look at Benny in the eye right now, as you bring your lips to meet his.

The kiss is sweet and unhurried, and yet your head is swimming and your whole body is buzzing with it as you melt into each other. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever felt, which just proves that everything really is different - better - with Benny. You pull away when you find yourself quickly out of breath just from feeling so much.

You finally dare to open your eyes to find Benny gazing at you with a dazed expression that surely mirrors your own and you slowly beam at each other, not feeling the need for words just now. Maybe you couldn’t even find them if you tried.

You settle back against his chest and the two of you stay like that for the rest of the night, sometimes spending long moments just kissing each other, sometimes talking quietly, sometimes just enjoying each other’s presence.

Around five in the morning, when the sun is already getting up, you finally start to really feel the need for sleep. But this time it doesn’t feel wrong to leave and go home, since you’ll be going home together.

Later that day you wake up to a good morning, sweetheart in Benny’s arms where you fell asleep on his couch, tired but happier than you’ve ever felt in your life.

What a week we've had! I appreciate everyone who posted gifsets and photosets and fic and reblogged like crazy to help keep our spirits up and our hope alive!

After watching I feel a huge sense of relief and I'm very happy with the outcome. All along I kept telling myself I could trust Heidi but as the week went on I started second guessing everything! This was all so out of the blue for our quiet little show! (And I really wish they would have been kind enough to have aired the last two episodes back to back.) I respectfully ask to never be put in this position again!

About the episode itself: I liked how everything played out with Timothy. From the promo pics I was concerned he was blindly going into full hero mode, but it came off quite naturally with the firemen's assumptions and then being coached by his dad through the first aid.

I was pleased with the Turnadette, they said all the right things and I loved every bit of it... well, all but the over the top head bandage. 🤭 (Still my own social distancing-style direction would have included a cheeky bit of Shelagh's lipstick somewhere on Patrick's face. 💋🤭) Loved the tiny Turners being included as well.

Very happy we got some quality Shulienne, too.

Reggie was brilliant wanting to be a part of the helping community, I'm glad he was recognized for his support.

Sister Frances again was an absolutely amazing advocate for Carole and I love that her story ended on a hopeful note.

Sister Hilda and Miss Higgins made a wonderful team supporting the Corbetts, especially when they were able to help with the release of guilt.

Comic relief in the form of Nancy and Phyllis, much appreciated!

However, I've never been more ready for a series to end. I'm exhausted and will need most of the hiatus to recover!

And again, I’m soft af- y’all just keep sending fluffy requests and it’s distracting me from my daily dose of angst dkns/j. But on all seriousness I had a lot of fun with this one ^ ^.

Lucifer

At first it was...not exactly what he expected, like far from it actually. Was there something that purposely made you wanna act like this? Who knows.

When he checked your files prior it didn’t mention anything about... needing routine head pats or literal tucking into bed- heck he didn’t expect you to actually go along with Mammon’s equally childish antics.

Which fully circles us back to the subtle fact that he learns to actually find rest in your behavior because let’s face it- your childish and his brothers’ childish are different.

Actually gets worried when you refuse to eat your veggies tho- he didn’t think he’d had to resort to...very underhanded methods i.e. using illusion spells to just feed you proper food despite sweets.

“MC you must finish this if you don’t want to fall ill. You wouldn’t want that would you?”

Very by the book with dealing with you he isn’t exactly the best at kids due to his aura but overall his actions make up for it.

Mammon

The solidarity you two have just spiked up tenfold, don’t worry about being the few people that still use jinx or superstitions like swallowing gum and believing it’ll stay there for the next seven years, because mammon also semi believes them-

But on a more chaotic note, mammon would go from ‘hey I don’t like the human being here why do I have to look after them they’re so childish-‘ to ‘oi f*Ck you my child is fine-‘

Sometimes feels guilty of taking advantage of your childish nature so he makes sure to make it up to you in some way whether a food treat a plushie treat or heck whatever outing you’re up for.

Which equates to the conclusion that if mammon is being nice to you he might’ve pulled a joke or two unbeknownst to you and his mind won’t let him rest the guilt dsdkwksk.

“Yo! I found a new ice cream downtown wanna get some and try? We can bring beel if ya want!”

As proven by season two(?) he’s good with children so I believe he’s the best at dealing with you in general. Besides you distract him from the suffering he gets from his brothers so win win!

Leviathan

This can go either two ways, one a grand friendship via watching anime and reading manga/comics or two unholy screeching cause hey Mc don’t touch those not so family friendly series he has ey-

So starting with the former- wait you said you wanna binge some colorful series instead of doing work? GRAB THE POPCORN LE GO- will literally have stars in his eyes the moment you two click on one series and it’s just a rant (on his end) while you nitpick at your favorite elements of the series.

The latter well, after delving into your more hyper ish series he’ll try to avoid letting you catch glimpses of his other stuff, which we all know is a lot but we don’t need to mention that now do we-.

Will not hesitate to pull out a human tv with a human cable plan just for you to binge watch your own cartoons and series because if that’s what it takes for you to calm down then aIGHT- besides it’s calming you down so win win?

“Hey wanna cosplay that duo together?”

I kid you not it becomes a dream come true when you both get to cosplay duo characters from series and the sheer nya uwu power you two hold is powerful enough to break devilgram records djdjd.

Satan

As uncanny as it sounds, he reads bed time stories for you, to put into context- he teaches you a lot of useful still via bed time stories because he can’t approach you the normal way.

Like- the concept of corruption in the history of the Devildom? Yey let’s turn that into a tyrant king! Need to learn the importance of always having one of the brothers with you? Eyyy this is the tale of the Queen’s child and their knights!

If there are any words you have a hard time getting your head around or just don’t know the meaning like at all, he’s your go to dictionary.

Suffice it to say he’s good at what he tries attempting. Was at first a bit concerned because you complained about his books not having pictures and it takes the fun out.

“Hm? Well we can always search for ones with diagrams in the library if that’s how you learn faster...”

Surprisingly to him those horrific diagrams did help you learn faster in various Devildom subjects, but your suggestion of making them colored ink was just calmly rejected.

Asmo

I pray for the House of Lamentation’s mail box because it’s full of chEQUES AND BILLS- the shoppings sprees you two go on is enough to even have Mammon concerned.

Like- you two just went down town to buy some new matching outfits and really pretty ones at that, and asmo is now dragging you by the arm to head to another newly opened boutique saying it’s from another district and he and has to be the first ones to post some of their pieces? Mhm

Non stop devilgram pictures, you are the epitome of color in the Devildom soley because of this Demon- He actually managed to make pastel a trend in the gloomy circle of hell with the amount of pastel you wore in your pics together.

When he takes care of you or offers you a relax day, mans will grab the most spontaneous bath soaps and body washes and even make you a bubble bath with hella cool shaped bubbles in, ngl I want one now-

Depending on how childish you are you’ll either see nap time as a blessing or a punishment, no matter which one you’ll still wind up napping with belphie.

Ya don’t wanna nap? Well too bad cause you’re already trapped with his arms to sleep, he does that with his pillow and since his pillow helps him sleep well Goodluck cause you’re now a plushie.

You wanna nap? Good cause you get to nap with a lot of stuffed toys heckin soft pillows fluffy blankets and a grown man to make sure you actually sleep and not...pretend. (I actually do that a lot believe it or not-)

But here me out, animal onesies, matching animal onesies, matching soft and comfortable animal onesies- ok but really, onesies you two will wear and not care if the others see because you’ll walk a round the house and that at night heading to the twins’ room.
