Oh, that’s a good question!

Short answer, Greed 1.0.

But I feel like the distinction between them is less about actually enjoying it and more about showing that they’re enjoying it? Overall, Greed 1.0 is less bitchy grumpy hostile than 2.0. So, I feel like even if they all enjoy it, 2.0 wouldn’t let himself show it (typical cat behaviour, right?)

Also, I think it’s necessary to make a distinction between pre- and post-Bido-incident 2.0… Because pre-Bido is less bitchy traumatised and closer in personality to 1.0 (except the loyalty to Father). If I had to guess, both 1.0 and pre-Bido Greed wouldn’t mind getting the kitty cat treatment very much (unless you’re trespassing, then 2.0 would kill you 💔).

I suppose it’s also a question of is it someone Greed knows or not? Does he like them? Or is it just you/me a random stranger running up to him and giving him the kitty cat treatment? I guess they’d all be confused in that last scenario, but I feel 1.0 would still be the safest bet. I’m pretty sure the Devil’s Nest Gang can do whatever lol and 1.0 would show that he likes it around them too 💖

Then there’s post-Promised-Day Greed living his best life which is very much canon. Since he already had The Realisation™, I’d imagine he’d be (a little) more open about his wants, feelings and admitting that he cares about others, so I’d feel like he’d also let himself show that he enjoys it? Maybe not right away though…

I feared that my classics peers and professors would hate the idea. There is a long history of gatekeeping in classics. Attempts to expand the lens of scholarship have sometimes been met with open hostility, and women and scholars of colour have been undermined and belittled.

One of my professors had started his course with the following salvo: “This is a class on Greek history, so I don’t want to hear any questions about women or slaves.” A young woman taking the revered and traditionally male epic material of the Iliad and centring it as a gay love story might not thrill people.

...while I hoped that at least some classicists might like the book, I wanted this story to be for everyone, whether they knew classics or not, maybe even especially if they didn’t.

I wanted this book to be that kind of story: one with open arms, with room for everyone who might want to come in.
