perhaps this is too much to tell, but i dream of having a secret society with some of my closest friends and enemies. staging fake murders in certain time periods and reading old books or plays aloud, drunk on something not quite legal. smoking from cigars and telling stories that should not be told in a parlor. everyone sleeping near each other on the floor because the historical house we’ve rented is far too expensive for only a few of us to stay, and partially because we are too afraid of the things that we’ve convinced ourself linger in the dark. but finally barely talking to one another in public, only sideways glances and brushes of the hands to pass a note of tonight’s adventures.

Random worldbuilding: A culture that has a specific item of clothing/accessory that can be worn in a number of ways, and each way has a specific message to it, which everyone knows and respects. For adaptability, let's say it's a scarf - worn one way when one is having a nice day in general, but tied over the shoulder in the opposite way when there's spectacularly great news that this person is dying to gush to somebody about. Pulled over the head in a way that obscures the face informs people that this person is in no mood to see people and does not want to interact with anybody. Just this standarised way to express one's situation or intentions.

Kind of like one can wear a necktie around their neck to inform the people around them that they are a serious professional here to conduct business. And one can wear the same necktie around their head to inform the people around them that they are drunk and here to conduct tomfuckery.
