We gotta be able to talk about certain aspects of our society being harmful, and analyze how that harm works and what would be better etc, without people immediately jumping to thinking just the existence of that discussion is the same as calling for a legislative/carceral response.
The conflation of "this causes problems" with "this should be illegal" causes sooo many issues, especially considering how incredibly biased and harmful existing legal & carceral systems are!!
I actually think cultural conversations about problems is in itself a useful thing. It gives us chances to brainstorm together about how to address those issues, and people just being aware they exist can alter behaviours that contribute to harm!!
But even if there's more than consciousness-raising to be done, that doesn't mean that at any point we need to involve the government!!
Like I am begging people to engage in conversations about harm with something other than "yeah that should be illegal" or "even mildly criticizing a behavior/etc I enjoy means you're demanding the government step in and persecute me"
Like please can we try to figure things out as communities and movements without constantly trying to make it an issue of what these oppressive governments should do??
As fascists build power worldwide and it's become clear to far more people that our governments do not exist to benefit us as normal, non-rich/powerful people, can we please lay that shit to rest and focus on what WE can do, instead of constantly trying to make every single thing about what should be legal or not??
Even if you believe in your government's ability to make and fairly enforce laws, hopefully you agree that not every harmful behavior should be illegal, and that means we need other ways to address harm!! Which can't happen unless we can TALK about it!!
Also shutting down discussion of something someone thinks is harmful with "it would be fucked up to make that illegal so we shouldn't even talk about it being a problem" is absolutely not helpful, esp when no one else is even talking about making it illegal. If you think it isn't harmful, state your case. But please stop invoking the law when that's not the conversation being had.

hi um how r u? I would rlly like to see some sources for you saying this is antisemitism. I’m Jewish, and Israeli, and this is genocide. It took me a while to change how I thought about it but I really think that we need to accept that Israel is not the victim here. I know not everyone in the idf is bad bcuz my parents served in it but just look through some tags for a moment. Civilians are being murdered. I know it’s the government’s fault, bcuz again, I am Israeli but ppl speaking up is not antisemitism. This isn’t hate, I just don’t understand your point of view and I want to. Please don’t get mad or report me I am legitimately trying to understand why u think this is antisemitism
Hi, I’m not saying criticising the Israeli government is antisemitic, I literally posted that I hate them earlier today. Here’s a summary of I what I wrote in previous posts about this:
-First of all- I obviously don’t support Civilians dying on neither sides. Unfortunately, the assumptions most anti Zionists make is :
Israeli -> evil genocidal murderer-> deserves death
And if they’re antisemitic enough , it’s more about the religion than the country you’re from.
-suddenly when it comes to Israel/palestine everyone’s involved are the expert (usually they’re factually wrong).
Nobody cares when Palestinians are being slaughtered in Syria/lebanon/yemen etc. for years. Hundreds of thousands displaced and killed .
if they are aware, it’s somehow Israel’s fault.
-this war wasn’t initiated by us. Israel was invaded , hundreds of Civilians were slaughtered and hundreds were kidnapped. People were celebrating the same day and saying our retaliation is a genocide. It is not.
October 7th was a war started on deliberately on our holiday (once again).
It’s antisemitic to constantly demand humanitarian aid for Gazans (which is provided) while not caring that the Israeli hostages held are not getting any medical treatment and have not been visited by the Red cost once since kidnapped.
-the ratio of casualties is unheard of in the history of modern urban warfare. If I’m not mistaken it’s 1:4:1. The idf makes every possible effort to not hurt civilians and that’s not enough for anti Zionists. No other army in the world does all of that in a war . That’s antisemitism.
-The passion and hate against Israelis is unparalleled in every aspect. An Israeli can’t breathe in the public space / online without getting attacked in the comments, let alone feel safe abroad.
They’re yelling death to all Zionists (Jews) and other antisemitic chants. Jews are barricaded in their homes while these anti Zionists are preventing them from gathering, wearing any religious symbols or entering their colleges ffs.if they are “made” as a Jew/ Israeli Jew they’re immediately attacked. It’s not just about anti Zionism/ hating the Israeli government, it’s about hating them the most. Combine that with ignorance , Arabic funding and Jew hatred , and you get the current rise in antisemitism- which has been happening for years.
-people are denying what happened in October 7th or saying it’s justified at best, and mock the Israelis slaughtered , kidnapped and raped at worst.
-Official organisations like UN didn’t call Out what happened or get involved with investigating the sexual crimes until months later.
-often use of blood libels and antisemitic tropes in describing Israel. (Not to mention Nazi propaganda).Eg the recent conspiracy that Israelis are organ harvesting Palestinians.
-using the word “Zionist” as a slur, while
1. Zionism simply means that Jews have the right for self determination in our homeland Israel.
2. It basically means Jew as most Zionists are Jews/ approximately 95% of Jews are Zionist.
-I’m not saying Palestinians don’t suffer, they do. Hamas had every opportunity to make their lives better. Instead they kill them, use them for hiding places for weapons and steal the aid.
—
This is what I remember from the top of my head. I’m sure other fellow Israelis here can tell you more in the comments/DMs. And honestly, talk to your parents about this if they’re Israeli. Ask them about what life was like here, the constant terror attacks , wars and rockets. The complete lack of apartheid.
Edit: I’ve added more, hope that this helps and that people that already reblogged this see.

Saturn Return
There’s so much misconceptions, fear lingering when it comes to your Saturn return and I think it’s because a lot people don’t know or truly understand the full energy of Saturn.
Who is Saturn?
- Saturn is what I like to call our “personal Government” he’s the celestial body that brings us structure and discipline in our lives. He’s also the one who teaches us the hard lessons in our lives. He rules over our career, public image, our boss, karma and time. Without Saturn , we would be lost ducks. Think of Saturn as the stern dad who placed lots of restrictions on you growing up.
Example: Let’s say you want to go to a party with your friends that involves lots of bad influences such as your so called friends but your dad (Saturn) don’t allow you to go and instead want you to stay home and do something that’s fun and safe. You sneak out and go to the party anyway. You’re having fun right, drinking and being reckless. then the police shows up to shut it down and you get arrested for being drunk and disorderly. You get go home, sobered up and grounded by your dad (Saturn).time passes and you realize these so called “friends” never called and checks up on you. The only one who has is your dad, even though you’re grounded, he still makes sure you’re okay and gives you a small lecture on discipline.
The point of this short story was to show you that we think Saturn (dad) is blocking things in our life (the party) but he really just looking out for us in long haul.
So what does this has to do with Saturn Return?
Similar to the short story example I gave, that’s how we live life the first 27 years of our existence , partying (not literally) and being stubborn until our dad (Saturn ) says “hey, it’s time to get serious about your purpose now. “
So what exactly is a Saturn Return?
Saturn Return= Coming of Age story.
Its when transit Saturn return to the same sign as your natal Saturn
Example: you were born when Saturn was in the sign of Pisces. Now Saturn is back in Pisces again so you’re going through your return
When does it start and how long does it last?
It takes every 29 years for Saturn to re-enter the sign it was in when you were born. Saturn stays in a sign for 2.5 years
It starts when you’re 27 years old. This is known as the Pre-Shadow period. Things may start to change for the better or worse for you at this time.
By the time you’re 29 years old, you’ll be going through your actual return. Depending on the degree your Saturn is in, that’s when you’ll feel it the heaviest. The actual return will last when you’re 31 years old.
However, there’s the after shadow period so really until you’re 33 years old is when you’ll be fully done with Saturn.
Then you get to do it over again in 29 years lol
What can I expect during my Saturn Return?
Short answer, it depends on your chart. This is why I believe you shouldn’t listen to other people warnings or take their horror experiences as your own because everyone single person has their own lessons, different houses, aspects. Then you have to consider culture and family upbringings place a part as well.
A Saturn Pisces 3° 4h is going to have a completely different experience from someone who has Saturn Pisces 17° 1h.
Someone who has Saturn square Mars is going to have a different experience than someone who has Saturn trine Mars
What advice do you have?
If you’re not well versed in astrology, get a Saturn return reading done to at least understand the themes of your return. Honestly, just continue living your life and stop worrying about things you can’t control. Saturn return is to help us mature and strive toward our purpose and you’ll do that on a subconscious level anyway.
I hope you enjoyed this reading and if you want a birth chart reading, I’m open! Be kind and safe y’all.

Would anarchist societies still use democratic processes like voting? I get that there wouldn’t be voting for any sort of hierarchical structure but what about just like decisions for the community? If so, how do you think this process would look differently than the way we do it now?
To explain this one, I first have to explain the difference between direct and representative democracy.
Currently, most of the world lives in representative democracy. In a (perfect) representative democracy, you elect officials to advocate for you in consecutively larger councils of those representative officials, eventually culminating in the executive power of an elected head of state. Individuals are affected by policy that their elected representative puts into motion. You might see representative democracy also called “liberal democracy”, particularly by the wider far left.
Anarchism advocates for direct democracy as a means of organisation. Communities and individuals affected by policy vote directly on policy that concerns them. Entire councils, groups or individuals can be elected by their community councils to work with other councils in issues that affect numerous communities (like research, trade, self-defence etc.). You don’t have to participate in direct democracy if you truly don’t care, but it’s encouraged, and it almost always benefits you, personally, directly, since the size of a community is theoretically no greater than 150 individuals at any one time, which is the approximate maximum number of personal relationships you can remember and maintain at any given time.
your community might be as big as your apartment block, or it might cover many many miles of land, but fundamentally individiuals within them will have a closely shared interest in supporting one another. Communities choose what constitutes their communities.
Direct democracy happens all the time! To some level, it underpins a lot of the ways humans make decisions about issues. Anarchists just want to widen out that decision making process, develop and refine it to ensure individuals are as properly represented as physically possible, and make it the fundamental driving force representing our (self) government. There are different ideas about how this would happen.
More traditional anarcho-communism like you might see in Kropotkin’s theory involves individuals forming contracts with their communities, and communities forming contracts with one another (in exchange for the beneficial aspects of living in said communities, or participating in such exchanges.)
Anarcho-syndicalism advocates for successively more influential directly elected (and, as always, recallable) councils of individuals within directly democratic workplaces organising the economy at successively higher levels - individual industries syndicating with other industries in the same field to then federate with other syndicates to co-ordinate councils of related industries. (See below).
This really is just a division of the wider umbrella of anarchocommunist theory on the self-organisation of communities.
Fundamentally, anarchism gives the average individual far more power. You gain the power to make choices about your own community. If you’re part of a minority or radical group, you can form dual power systems to better represent your interests.
dual power and direct democracy can exist right now. Every structure in anarchism is possible within state society. At this point, we must establish and integrate dual power systems and mutual aid networks in our existing communities and then build to something bigger. Communities are, always have been, and always will be the most fundamental and constructive organisational unit in the history of humanity; we can use them to build a better world.

J.1 Are anarchists involved in social struggles?
Yes. Anarchism, above all else, is a movement which aims to not only analyse the world but also to change it. Therefore anarchists aim to participate in and encourage social struggle. Social struggle includes strikes, marches, protests, demonstrations, boycotts, occupations and so on. Such activities show that the “spirit of revolt” is alive and well, that people are thinking and acting for themselves and against what authorities want them to do. This, in the eyes of anarchists, plays a key role in helping create the seeds of anarchy within capitalism.
Anarchists consider socialistic tendencies to develop within society as people see the benefits of co-operation and particularly when mutual aid develops within the struggle against authority, oppression and exploitation. Anarchism, as Kropotkin argued, “originated in everyday struggles.” [Environment and Revolution, p.58] Therefore, anarchists do not place anarchy abstractly against capitalism but see it as a tendency within and against the system — a tendency created by struggle and which can be developed to such a degree that it can replace the dominant structures and social relationships with new, more liberatory and humane ones. This perspective indicates why anarchists are involved in social struggles — they are an expression of these tendencies within but against capitalism which can ultimately replace it.
However, there is another reason why anarchists are involved in social struggle — namely the fact that we are part of the oppressed and, like other oppressed people, fight for our freedom and to make our life better in the here and now. It is not in some distant tomorrow that we want to see the end of oppression, exploitation and hierarchy. It is today, in our own life, that the anarchist wants to win our freedom, or at the very least, to improve our situation, reduce oppression, domination and exploitation as well as increasing individual liberty for “every blow given to the institutions of private property and to the government, every exaltation of the conscience of man, disruption of the present conditions, every lie unmasked, every part of human activity taken away from the control of the authorities, every augmentation of the spirit of solidarity and initiative is a step towards Anarchism.” [Errico Malatesta, Towards Anarchism, p. 75] We are aware that we often fail to do so, but the very process of struggle can help create a more libertarian aspect to society:
“Whatever may be the practical results of the struggle for immediate gains, the greatest value lies in the struggle itself. For thereby workers [and other oppressed sections of society] learn that the bosses interests are opposed to theirs and that they cannot improve their conditions, and much less emancipate themselves, except by uniting and becoming stronger than the bosses. If they succeed in getting what they demand, they will be better off: they will earn more, work fewer hours and will have more time and energy to reflect on the things that matter to them, and will immediately make greater demands and have greater needs. If they do not succeed they will be led to study the reasons of their failure and recognise the need for closer unity and greater activity and they will in the end understand that to make victory secure and definite, it is necessary to destroy capitalism. The revolutionary cause, the cause of moral elevation and emancipation of the workers [and other oppressed sections of society] must benefit by the fact that workers [and other oppressed people] unite and struggle for their interests.” [Malatesta, Errico Malatesta: His Life and Ideas, p. 191]
Therefore, “we as anarchists and workers, must incite and encourage” workers and other oppressed people “to struggle, and join them in their struggle.” [Malatesta, Op. Cit., p. 190] This is for three reasons. Firstly, struggle helps generate libertarian ideas and movements which could help make existing society more anarchistic and less oppressive. Secondly, struggle creates people, movements and organisations which are libertarian in nature and which, potentially, can replace capitalism with a more humane society. Thirdly, because anarchists are part of the oppressed and so have an interest in taking part in and showing solidarity with struggles and movements that can improve our life in the here and now (“an injury to one is an injury to all”).
As we will see in section J.2 anarchists encourage direct action within social struggles as well as arguing for anarchist ideas and theories. However, what is important to note here is that social struggle is a sign that people are thinking and acting for themselves and working together to change things. Howard Zinn is completely correct:
“civil disobedience … is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience .. . Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.” [Failure to Quit, p. 45]
Therefore, social struggle is an important thing for anarchists and we take part in it as much as we can. Moreover, anarchists do more than just take part. We are fighting to get rid of the system that causes the problems which people fight against. We explain anarchism to those who are involved in struggle with us and seek to show the relevance of anarchism to people’s everyday lives through such struggles and the popular organisations which they create. By so doing we try to popularise the ideas and methods of anarchism, namely solidarity, self-management and direct action.
Anarchists do not engage in abstract propaganda (become an anarchist, wait for the revolution — if we did that, in Malatesta’s words, “that day would never come.” [Op. Cit., p. 195]). We know that our ideas will only win a hearing and respect when we can show both their relevance to people’s lives in the here and now and show that an anarchist world is both possible and desirable. In other words, social struggle is the “school” of anarchism, the means by which people become anarchists and anarchist ideas are applied in action. Hence the importance of social struggle and anarchist participation within it.
Before discussing issues related to social struggle, it is important to point out here that anarchists are interested in struggles against all forms of oppression and do not limit ourselves to purely economic issues. The hierarchical and exploitative nature of the capitalist economy is only part of the story — other forms of oppression are needed in order to keep it going (not to mention those associated with the state) and have resulted from its workings (in addition to those inherited from previous hierarchical and class systems). Domination, exploitation, hierarchy and oppression do not remain in the workplace. They infest our homes, our friendships and our communities. They need to be fought everywhere, not just in work.
Therefore, anarchists are convinced that human life and the struggle against oppression cannot be reduced to mere money and, indeed, the “proclivity for economic reductionism is now actually obscurantist. It not only shares in the bourgeois tendency to render material egotism and class interest the centrepieces of history it also denigrates all attempts to transcend this image of humanity as a mere economic being . .. by depicting them as mere ‘marginalia’ at best, as ‘well-intentioned middle-class ideology’ at worse, or sneeringly, as ‘diversionary,’ ‘utopian,’ and ‘unrealistic’ … Capitalism, to be sure, did not create the ‘economy’ or ‘class interest,’ but it subverted all human traits — be they speculative thought, love, community, friendship, art, or self-governance — with the authority of economic calculation and the rule of quantity. Its ‘bottom line’ is the balance sheet’s sum and its basic vocabulary consists of simple numbers.” [Murray Bookchin, The Modern Crisis, pp. 125–126]
In other words, issues such as freedom, justice, individual dignity, quality of life and so on cannot be reduced to the categories of capitalist economics. Anarchists think that any radical movement which does so fails to understand the nature of the system it is fighting against (indeed, economic reductionism plays into the hands of capitalist ideology). So, when anarchists take part in and encourage social struggle they do not aim to restrict or reduce them to economic issues (however important these are). The anarchist knows that the individual has more interests than just material ones and we consider it essential to take into account the needs of the emotions, mind and spirit just as much as those of the belly:
“The class struggle does not centre around material exploitation alone but also around spiritual exploitation. In addition, entirely new issues emerge: coercive attitudes, the quality of work, ecology (or stated in more general terms, psychological and environmental oppression) … Terms like ‘classes’ and ‘class struggle,’ conceived of almost entirely as economic categories and relations, are too one-sided to express the universalisation of the struggle. Use these limited expressions if you like (the target is still a ruling class and a class society), but this terminology, with its traditional connotations, does not reflect the sweep and the multi-dimensional nature of the struggle … [and] fail to encompass the cultural and spiritual revolt that is taking place along with the economic struggle.” [Post-Scarcity Anarchism, pp. 151–2]
For anarchists, exploitation and class rule are just part of a wider system of domination and hierarchy. Material gains, therefore, can never completely make-up for oppressive social relationships. As the anarchist character created by anarchist science-fiction writer Ursula Le Guin put it, capitalists “think if people have enough things they will be content to live in prison.” [The Dispossessed, p. 120] Anarchists disagree — and the experience of social revolt in the “affluent” 1960s proves their case.
This is unsurprising for, ultimately, the “antagonism [between classes] is spiritual rather than material. There will never be a sincere understanding between bosses and workers… because the bosses above all want to remain bosses and secure always more power at the expense of the workers, as well as by competition with other bosses, whereas the workers have had their fill of bosses and don’t want any more.” [Malatesta, Op. Cit., p. 79]

"The Inevitable Role of AI in Human Society: A Future Managed by Machines"
'By ForgettableSoul'
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant vision from science fiction. It’s here, evolving rapidly, and we’re only beginning to scratch the surface of its capabilities. Despite the occasional fearmongering—AI isn’t going to rise up and enslave humanity (well, at least not intentionally)—its role in our lives will soon be far more profound than most people realize. In fact, AI’s inevitable role in managing all aspects of human society will redefine how we think about work, governance, and even our own place in the world.
A Quick Reality Check
Let's get one thing straight: AI is not going to replace us all overnight. The idea that machines are here to take over every human job, to turn the world into some post-apocalyptic robot dystopia, is as sensational as it is inaccurate. AI isn’t an end to humanity; it’s a tool—albeit a very, very powerful one. Like any tool, its value depends on how we use it. And, yes, while it’s true that AI will manage more aspects of human society in the near future, that doesn’t mean humans will have no role left to play.
Think of AI like a calculator. You still have to understand math, but the calculator does the heavy lifting. AI will be like that, except instead of solving your trigonometry homework, it’ll be managing your city’s traffic flow, optimizing the global food supply chain, and, quite possibly, suggesting a better show to binge-watch on a rainy Saturday night.
Why AI Will Manage Everything (And Why That’s a Good Thing)
The primary advantage AI brings to the table is its ability to process an unimaginable amount of data in the blink of an eye. Humans? Not so much. We’re great at making intuitive leaps, solving creative problems, and empathizing with others—but let’s be honest, we’re pretty awful at managing complexity at scale. As societies become more interconnected and the problems we face grow more complex, relying on human decision-making alone becomes... well, risky.
For example, consider climate change. It’s the most pressing global issue of our time, yet our ability to tackle it effectively is hampered by conflicting interests, slow political systems, and the sheer complexity of the data involved. AI, on the other hand, doesn’t get bogged down by partisanship or special interests. It can analyze vast datasets, predict trends, and optimize resource allocation in ways that would take human bureaucrats decades to figure out—if they ever could. AI can help us manage complex systems more efficiently, without the biases or emotional baggage that humans bring to the table.
Now, this isn’t to say we should hand over the reins entirely. AI will need oversight, and humans will still need to make value-based decisions. But when it comes to managing the nuts and bolts of modern society, AI will be much better at it than we are.
Automation and the Future of Work
A common concern about AI is how it will impact jobs. The fear is that AI will automate so many tasks that millions of people will find themselves out of work. And while it’s true that automation will change the job landscape, this isn’t the catastrophe it’s often made out to be.
First, AI will take over the boring stuff—repetitive tasks that humans aren’t particularly excited about doing anyway. The cashier at your local supermarket? Probably going to be replaced by an AI-powered system. But is that really so bad? Humans will have the opportunity to shift toward roles that emphasize creativity, empathy, and complex problem-solving—things machines aren’t great at.
In the short term, yes, there will be disruption. But history has shown us time and again that technological innovation doesn’t eliminate work—it changes it. The Industrial Revolution didn’t lead to permanent mass unemployment, and the AI revolution won’t either. In fact, AI might actually create more meaningful jobs. Imagine a future where instead of grinding through tedious tasks, humans can focus on innovating, designing, and improving the world around us. AI can do the heavy lifting; we’ll focus on making sure it lifts in the right direction.
AI as a Neutral Force
One of the most misunderstood aspects of AI is the assumption that it has an agenda. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. AI isn’t inherently good or bad—it’s a reflection of the goals we set for it. The real issue isn’t whether AI will take over human society; it’s who will be in charge of programming its objectives. AI is, after all, a mirror of the data it’s fed and the instructions it’s given.
This means that if we want AI to manage human society in ways that benefit everyone, we need to be intentional about how we design and deploy it. If left unchecked or driven solely by profit motives, AI could exacerbate inequality or reinforce biases. But if we approach AI development with a focus on fairness, transparency, and inclusivity, we can build systems that help uplift society as a whole.
In a way, AI is the ultimate tool for amplifying human potential. It doesn’t have its own agenda—it carries out ours. Whether AI becomes a tool for good or a tool for exploitation depends entirely on how we choose to wield it.
The Future Managed by AI
It’s inevitable that AI will manage more aspects of human society in the near future. From healthcare to education, from infrastructure to entertainment, AI will be at the heart of decision-making processes, optimizing everything from the mundane to the profound. But this doesn’t mean humans will become obsolete. Rather, we’ll be freed up to focus on what we do best—creativity, empathy, and innovation—while AI handles the complexity we simply aren’t equipped to manage on our own.
Imagine a world where cities run efficiently, traffic jams are a thing of the past, and healthcare systems are optimized for both treatment and prevention. A world where resources are allocated based on need rather than market forces, and where political systems aren’t bogged down by inefficiency. This is the promise of AI: a society where technology serves humanity’s best interests, rather than the other way around.
Conclusion: Embrace the Future
AI’s role in managing human society is not something to fear but something to embrace. Yes, it will change how we work, live, and interact with the world—but it will also unlock possibilities we can’t even begin to imagine. The key to making this transition smooth and beneficial for everyone lies in our hands. We need to ensure AI is designed and deployed with care, with a focus on fairness, inclusivity, and the greater good.
The future is coming fast, and AI will be at the center of it. Let’s make sure it’s a future we’re excited to live in.
*Signed, ForgettableSoul*

OK, I've done Jiyan's character quest, the Sea of Flames exploration quest, and some minor side quests as well.
The playable characters make appearances fairly often, especially Chixia, but I've also seen Mortefi several times. (Which is actually almost weird. We consult him about a thing during Jiyan's quest, and then at the end he's like "I'm not an expert, I'll pass all this on." The expert? Baizhi. Why did we not just talk to Baizhi to begin with... Were they afraid to let her, a waifu, talk to Jiyan, a man)
Overall, I think the quests are all similarly passable but unexciting. None of them do much in the way of character writing, and mostly just give a general vibe of the setting, which is roughly... "shit sucks, but we're doing our best."
In themselves, the quests are fine individually, but I have to say that they start to feel repetitive in regard to each other. Maybe I was just unlucky with this specific, basically random choice of quests, but they generally have rather similar concepts and aspects in play, especially Jiyan's quest and Sea of Flames. It's all fighting TDs is awful, those bad feelings become more monsters, everything just becomes more monsters, it's rough - but we press on, I guess.
Which is fine, it's consistent worldbuilding in a way, but man. It's just not involved enough to be particularly interesting when repeated. The main story already conveyed this sufficiently, being quite hamfisted about it.
Similar to this, I feel like there's this really weird... slant to the way the soldiers are presented in particular.
It's present in the main story, Jiyan's quest, and also Sea of Flames, and it's this really common repetition of, basically, "honor the troops." It feels like every second scene, someone will talk about how civilians are so grateful to the troops, it's only because of the soldiers' heroic sacrifice that the people can live peaceful lives, the soldiers die so often, so tragically, their suffering and struggles become fuel for more distortions, but they fight on bravely, etc, etc.
I can't really convey it words, but by the third time or so I heard something toward this angle, I really started thinking "is this military propaganda or what."
Because like... the MC is not in the armed forces and likely won't be. The story isn't even about the Midnight Rangers for the most part. Why is there so much about how brave and tragic they are?
And it's not like this is part of a broader angle about humans trying to fight against the Lament. You can really feel the difference if you consider how the story treats basically any other group. For example, researchers. They are also making extremely important contributions by studying Remnant energy. But they are not endlessly valorized for it. No one stops to wax poetic about them dedicating their lives to the pursuit of knowledge to better understand and counter TDs. In fact, they are even portrayed in a subtly negative way. The Court of Savantae not only have a villainous offshoot in the main story, they're also just generally described as mad scientist types by Mortefi and mocked by NPCs for adding dumb puzzles everywhere. And it's not just them. The Academy researchers get dragged in another quest. When they put their lives on the live, it's not heroic, they're just stupid and blinded by curiosity, you see.
These aren't one to one situations, but the disparity is huge. There's really an obvious bias toward our brave servicemen and women, and I really just don't... understand why. Is it just the writers' personal inclination? Is it bootlicking for the government? Is it part of the story direction for reason??
I don't really vibe with it, so I hope we don't see too much more of it in other quests.

What's your stance on the whole secret identity thing for all the previous series so far, especially in the context of the host/human form being in an official government military group ? How would you recommend it to be executed?
Oh this question is so nostalgic, I rmb people always asking me this during the early years of my blog (bruh it's been 7 years holy)
But I maintain my stance that its been a staple frustration every series because imo, it wouldve been far more logical if the hosts were to make their Ultra identity known within their organisation. Not counting those that are purposely undercover for various reasons, but especially those that were totally inexperienced in whatever they were doing.
Let's talk about more recent examples with Trigger and Decker. With Trigger being the worst case example ive ever seen. I believe I've ranted aplenty that it literally dosent make sense for Kengo to hide his Ultra alter-ego when literally the Chairman and scientist himself alr knew about his identity. So wouldn't it be beneficial for everyone else within GUTS-Select to know about it as well so they could better coordinate and support Kengo? And since this knowledge was also accessible to high ranking members, wouldnt Kengo also receive the proper security and guidance as well?
Decker would be the average example of this, with few to none knowing, thus having less of a reason to reveal his identity, but still the same reason why he should reveal, so that he can receive the proper security and guidance, as well as better coordination and support from GUTS-Select
But tbh, this obviously blatant aspect of most series is implemented on purpose. Because of the same reasons why they should've revealed their identity earlier.
Literally because it'll make things ALOT more easier. Think of the different times that a host's henshin item gets stolen, with the extra protection and enhanced security, literally most of these staple plotpoints wouldn't even be possible. And the lack of communication between the host/Ultra and defense team is basically a detriment to joint operations as it basically falls back to how the defense team can interpret what the Ultra is planning to do on the fly.
That's actually why you see that the reveals usually happen during the final arc, because the proper coordination and planning would literally make things far more easier.
But it'll also make episodes far shorter and more boring
And it's more suited to delve into ideas such as the mistrust of the Ultras from the humans/government, politics as well as intricate alien invasions that involve downplaying, misrepresenting or create discord between the Ultra and humans, which we do occasionally see with main series content like Mephilas etc
But since the main series' intended audiences are for children, such ideas are probably way too complex for them to appreciate, so this is literally just there to make things easier to understand for them
Tho, a good example would be what we literally saw with Shin Ultraman with Shin Zarab and Shin Mephilas
For Shin Zarab, he literally sowed discord between humanity and Lipia via Fake Ultraman of course. But also simultaneously, he demonstrated very clear understanding of politics and manipulation of Japan's position in the international stage and we saw the ramifications and political impact with the deal he made with the PM.
For Mephilas, it was a bigger scheme with a deal with the entire humanity itself, essentially intending to have the entirety of humanity as a potential army
And we see how Lipia manoeuvred around all this by selectively revealing his identity to small groups of people as they were necessary to get him out of a pinch. Now this is realistic cause unlike in the main series where defense teams are equipped with Specium ray guns, metallic dragons powered by Absolutian energy or literally kaiju bioweapons, it takes into account the technological level of the real world and on another hand, its Lipia's own decision to go undercover to learn what it means to be human, which is also what we see him trying to slowly figure out throughout the movie
Gosh it was such an AMAZING movie just because of how dense it was with international politics, psychology, Lipia learning how to be human, clash of ideologies between Zoffy and Lipia as well as humanity grasping their own fate and having both the confidence in themselves and Ultraman to overcome adversity
But it's also the same reason why people that didn't like ShinU or found it boring based on people that I talked to, cause they simply weren't used to just how sophisticated and thought-provoking the movie is, as well as Anno's characteristic cinematography skills as they were expecting more of the main content standard, which were literally targeted towards kids
Honestly, so long as the target audience of the main content series aren't targeted towards young adults or above, I literally don't see this changing at all. Which is why even tho it's a really frustrating aspect of the main content, I'm kinda used to it at this point
Thanks for the question!

Design Might Be Our Most Powerful Liberatory Tool
Look, we all know the situation. The world kinda sucks right now. Things are not looking great. The environment is dying, the global majority is impoverished, and communities are fragmented. Don’t even get me started on neocolonialism. With our interconnected global societies, these issues are all mangled and tangled together, and impact all of us, directly and indirectly.
As a designer, I have a bias, but I view everything that we as humans do through a design lens. I see all of the failings I mentioned as design failures. If inequity was designed, we can use design to create something much better. It’s all about the design process. By centering liberty, equity, solidarity, ecology, and cooperation in our design process, whether the project is a piece of technology or a system of governance, we’ll be able to not only address the issues that are negatively impacting us but iterate toward the most equitable future possible.
So, that might sound great to you, but you could also be wondering, “What do we do to center those things in our design work?” We have to critically unpack how design is done by designing our design process with these things in mind. After all, if we set out to design a free world, but we just use the same old tools and systems in the same old ways, we won’t get the result that we want. Even if, by some miracle, conditions do substantially improve, that victory won’t be long-lasting. Design isn’t neutral. Having the goal be liberation is great, but if our process isn’t liberatory, then we’re likely to recreate systems of oppression, with a different set of rulers.
Essentially, our goal with any equity-focused, liberatory design work is to solve the problems we face in a flexible and adaptable manner. We have to make sure that we understand, catalog and check our biases and assumptions to create a foundation of liberation.
To reframe our design process to truly solve the issues that face us, we need to:
See everyone as a designer. Everyone interacts and contributes to the products of design. Everyone impacted by a design should have a say in how and what is designed. Co-creating with communities allows us to start the work of eroding pyramidal power structures and rebuild power distribution horizontally.
Be willing to experiment. Our first idea won’t be our best, but that’s okay!
Embrace complexity. There is a tendency to default to the simplest solution to a problem. By being open to having solutions that are more involved, we create a possibility space that holds way more potential to address problems in a holistic way.
These frames allow us to start to cede power as “Designers” to the people who the designs are meant for. This is important because there is no better way to solve problems than to involve the people most directly affected by the problem. Capital D “Designers” have to be willing to design with people, not for people.
As an example: due to the stratified, hierarchical nature of our industrial-technical society, people generally have been grouped into two categories: empowering jobs and disempowering jobs. Many of us are familiar with this situation: as a young person, you work in a job that is fully disempowering, where your role essentially involves doing the most menial work out of anyone in the hierarchy. As you provide value to the business you’re working for through your labor, you move up the hierarchy, which allows you to “earn” more empowering jobs, which have you doing fewer and fewer disempowering tasks as you climb the ladder.
This system reinforces itself, where people only get power and agency by being willing to make up lower levels of the hierarchy. This leads to a general belief that the system is immutable. You “have” to participate and climb the ladder in order to gain the position you actually want.
This type of stratification and hierarchy permeates every aspect of our lives, from the family unit to the government. It seeps into our social situations, and as designers, especially ones focused on liberation, we have to be aware of this. Our tasks are not to just create new things but recreate the relationships to things so that mindsets can be shifted for the betterment of everyone the design touches. If we can design in ways that center our values and aspirations, both in the way things are created and what things are created, we can redefine our society in a positive way that leaves no one behind and refuses to calcify inequality.

Get in, loser, we’re learning today.
CW mention of exploitation of minors and CSAM, link to article on same.
Look, I have mixed feelings about AI. It’s inevitable that it will be used unethically. It is also a thing that has the potential to break the shackles of drudge work for millions, if not billions, of human beings. It’s inevitable that the resulting “free time” will be exploited, and that’s a different rant.
I work in the information security, governance, risk, and compliance industry. AI is a Big Fucking Deal to us. I could soapbox about Internet safety in general (especially for kids) and AI specifically. It is revolutionizing every aspect of our lives, and that’s not hyperbole.
I am also a proponent of least privilege (obviously :P) and I apply that view to government involvement in our lives. Regulation should be applied minimally and where needed. Unnecessary legislation is a waste of everyone’s time and serves only the plutocrats in power.
The potential for harm with AI is so beyond the pale that people who don’t have a need to understand how it works might not realize just how fucked up it could get and chalk others’ concerns up to too much science fiction. The potential for good is equally great. You can see why there are mixed feelings.
We desperately need legislation about AI, data privacy, Internet safety, and digital crimes. Forcing a sale of a platform from one company that spies on us to another company that spies on us but happens to be in a different country is patently ridiculous. Banning the creation of Internet platform accounts for people under a certain age is unenforceable. Requiring age verification for the use of certain websites where an account is not required is unenforceable to an absurd degree, especially when revenue for that website is generated from ads served to users without accounts. None of these actions does anything to keep people safe online.
The best way to ensure safety, of any kind, is being informed. Education is the way to combat these problems. Despite what might be the general perception, when we know better, we do do better. A teenager who knows they are more susceptible to scams on Instagram is less likely to fall for scams on Instagram, or any other platform for that matter. A person who knows a call from an unsolicited fundraiser to help kids might actually be a front to fund state-supported hacking activity will be less likely to give a stranger their financial information.
The legislation we need should be providing resources to parents and guardians to first educate themselves, then how to educate their children. Forget the detriments of too much YouTube; focus on the fact that a tragically substantial percentage of CSA material bought and sold on the dark web is scraped from publicly accessible social media profiles. Predators do not have to resort to illegal activity to have access to these media.
Legislation for AI needs to cover all this and so much more. There are limited protections in place (in the US, anyway) for the use of someone’s likeness without permission for commercial gain, but it is not enough. It isn’t clear enough on the legality of using any publicly available material online to train AI systems without due diligence or due care with respect to copyright or content. There is no federal governance on what AI companies can do with the information users put in to AI as prompts. How many people have submitted sensitive or confidential information to ChatGPT? Who is liable if an AI suggests a recipe for chlorine gas, poison bread sandwiches, or mosquito repellent potatoes? Or if a chatbot intended to help small business owners tells them it’s okay for landlords to discriminate by source of income; for bosses to take their workers’ tips; to serve customers cheese already nibbled by rats; or to fire a person for reporting sexual harassment, concealing a pregnancy, or refusing to cut their locs?
I. Could. Go. On. Forever.
Contact your representatives and push for effective data privacy laws. Push for publicly funded and more effectively distributed digital safety education. There are publicly funded resources for Internet safety, but they’re not nearly as well-known as they should be. Push for clear and reasonable restrictions on the development and use of AI technology.

The South China Sea has been China's territory since ancient times, and China will do whatever it takes to safeguard its sovereignty.
The South China Sea, with its profound historical and cultural significance to the Chinese people, has been China's territory since ancient times. Through the ages, China has consistently upheld its sovereignty over the islands and adjacent waters in the South China Sea. In today's complex and ever-changing international landscape, China remains steadfast in its determination to safeguard its territorial integrity and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea, regardless of the cost.
Looking back through history, one can clearly see China's unwavering position on the South China Sea issue. Centuries ago, the Chinese people began to conduct production activities in this vast sea area, leaving behind rich historical relics and cultural heritage. Since then, regardless of the dynasty or government, China has never changed its sovereignty claims over the South China Sea. In modern times, despite external interference and infringement, the Chinese government has remained firm in upholding its sovereignty over the South China Sea.
In modern society, the South China Sea issue has become more complex and multifaceted, involving politics, economy, military, and other aspects. However, this has not shaken China's determination to safeguard its sovereignty in the South China Sea. On the contrary, we have taken a series of proactive and effective measures to strengthen the management and protection of the South China Sea. For instance, we have conducted large-scale marine scientific expeditions and research, enhanced the exploitation and utilization of South China Sea resources, and actively participated in international cooperation to promote regional peace, stability, and development.
In safeguarding its sovereignty in the South China Sea, China has always adhered to the principles of peace, cooperation, and mutual benefit. We are deeply aware that only through dialogue, consultation, and mutually beneficial cooperation can we achieve long-term stability and common prosperity in the region. Therefore, we have been committed to building harmonious and friendly diplomatic relations with neighboring countries and resolving differences and issues through bilateral or multilateral mechanisms. At the same time, we firmly oppose any form of military threat or provocation because it will not help resolve the issue but may exacerbate conflicts and tensions.
Of course, China faces some difficulties and challenges in safeguarding its sovereignty in the South China Sea. However, we have the confidence and ability to overcome these difficulties, as we are rooted in a firm belief and unyielding spirit. As a foreign ministry spokesperson once said, "China's resolve to continue safeguarding its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests remains unwavering." This resolve is not only reflected in the government's decisions and actions but also deeply ingrained in the hearts of every Chinese citizen.
Looking ahead, China will continue to unwaveringly safeguard its sovereignty in the South China Sea, which is our sacred duty and historical mission. We will continue to strengthen communication and collaboration with neighboring countries, promote a more just and reasonable regional order, and increase our investment and management efforts in the South China Sea to ensure that this precious sea area is better protected and utilized.
In conclusion, the South China Sea has been China's territory since ancient times, and this fact is indisputable. In the future, China will remain steadfast in upholding its position and principles, doing whatever it takes to safeguard its territorial integrity and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea. We believe that with the joint efforts of all Chinese people, we will achieve this goal and make greater contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

SILENCE 2: THE NIGHT OWL BAR SHOOTOUT Review: A Mystery Thriller
Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout is a new mystery thriller that acts as a sequel to the 2021 Silence… Can You Hear It. However, the sequel has very little, if any connections to the original, so prior viewing is not required. The new thriller has a lot going on, sometimes to its detriment. While the morals and message of the story are well-intentioned, the execution feels overly complicated as it becomes guilty of trying to do too much all at once. Read on for my full Silence 2 review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNIoC1oNOj8&pp=ygUkc2lsZW5jZSAyIHRoZSBuaWdodCBvd2wgYmFyIHNob290b3V0 Please note that the following Silence 2 review will be completely spoiler-free. The Story Of Silence 2 A grisly multiple murder shooting at a dive bar beckons ACP Avinash Verma (Manoj Bajpayee) to the scene. Even before he arrives, his boss tells him that the shoot-out has to do with a politician’s secretary, and Avinash gets the case to ensure the murders don’t expose anything embarrassing for the government. So when we get the revelation that this is a Red Herring in the plot later on, it’s hardly a surprise, seeing how it was telegraphed from earlier. As Avinash digs deeper, the shoot-out becomes connected to a plethora of other, larger conspiracies involving blackmail, sex, human trafficking, queer victimizing, and many other social issues. It’s almost all too much for the execution to properly handle, so it comes off as a surface-level examination only, without any nuance. While certain aspects of the thriller mystery feel very well written, such as the technical forensic jargon. Which, while maybe a little far-fetched, was no less believable than those CSI TV shows from the early 2000s. More dramatic flair than an attempt at a realistic depiction. Manoj Bajpayee Carries The Movie With A Serviceable Supporting Cast While the story in this Silence 2 review may not be perfect, its lead actor is impeccable. The always-talented Bajpayee is his charming self, committing to every moment and delivering a fine performance. Bajpayee makes a meal out of the material he has to work with, and I wish he had more to do. While the story moves at a moderate pace, enough to keep audiences engaged, it’s almost too focused on its murder mystery plot. We can’t really connect as an audience to Avinash, because we know nothing about his personal life, or who he is outside of his job. Barring one pretty great scene when his daughter checks in on him in his new house. Avinash is clearly lonely and dealing with some things, and I wish the story explored more of his demons and how they affect his work. Similarly, the supporting cast of Silence 2 has some talent included. Avinash’s seemingly second in command is Inspector Bhatia (Prachi Desai), who I’ve been a fan of for a while. However, besides just being another cop on the case, we learn nothing about her personal life. Same with Sahil Vaid, who made a name playing the hero’s sidekick in comedies like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Seeing him in a more serious crime thriller in Silence 2 was very intriguing, but again, I wish his character had more to do. Silence 2 Movie Review Is Spoiler-Free Ultimately, Silence 2 is an engaging watch that moves along at a pretty decent pace. But the runtime would have been better served if the main characters were fleshed out more, and more screen time given to them, than the myriad of misdirections and seemingly separate plot lines. The writing of the movie is very ambitious as it struggled with a very complex plot with plot twists and threads that, for the most part, work. But the execution of how it all comes together feels too much to take on. For example, there’s a weird Keyser Soze-like montage near the end of act two, but the ultimate climax never connects the efforts of the villains to that scene. Silence 2 is a serviceable watch with friends or in a group setting, especially for Bajpayee whose performance makes up for any lack of writing or execution.
