Why is Cain your favourite character? Please tell me about him and share why you like him so much!
Okay so like-- I'm predictable aoxbwlfnwlzjj
First off, I gravitate towards redhead characters A LOT, and secondly: I love knights. Cain having both qualities was enough to get my focus on him entirely.
Funnily enough, I first started liking him years ago actually, aroun 2020? 2021? But that was when I wasn't an artist yet and needed a faceclaim for my dear OC Alec. In which case, the closest one I found was Cain via this known bot in discord, Mudae.
But it wasn't until around 2023 when I got hyperfixated on mhyk as a whole (and became insane towards Cain and Owen) cuz I finally got free time enough during then to just go haywire on whatever I wanted so that was when I got to read through as many mhyk stories as I wanted.
My introduction to mhyk and ultimately is the April Fool's AU Paradox Roid, my fave AU ever... Terrible to have as the first intro to mhyk though cuz pararoid is AMAZING and lighthearted meanwhile mhyk main stories is AMAZING and goodness me, angsty.
Pararoid <3 Cain is sooo amazing there, I get to see him living happily without much danger other than the one he ended up in during the pararoid story where he works with others to save Owen. His smooth-talker qualities shows there too, the insanity of this man. I just love how pararoid showcases the positive raw qualities of Cain while showcasing the other raw qualities of the characters in ways they wouldn't be able to show in canon with how gestures vaguely everything is.
The whiplash of reading ms1 though right after reading pararoid was astronomical. It just made me latch onto Cain more cuz wdym this knight is willing to befriend the guy he supposedly hated for partially ruining his life??? And then when I read through more stories with him, it just keeps getting insane cuz WDYM THIS KNIGHT IS ACTUALLY PARTIALLY GLAD OWEN RUINED HIS LIFE??? Once you see through the many lies and facades this man puts up with as a shield, he just becomes REALLY INSANE SOMEHOW??? He's honestly doing far worse than Owen who is LIKE THAT, it just so happens that Cain is way too much of an expert in hiding ALL his bad and negative traits that most people gets fooled by his act of Only being a reliable older brother figure who is a sunshine personified knight. He Still is pretty much that, but he has so much more depth to that, he's just an outright insane of a guy neck deep into his own meticulously crafted public image.
#arianswer#anon#also i forgot to say. cains outward self-sacrificial tendencies has charmed me so much as well. he has so many of my fave traits#in characters. hes like a package deal for me. honestly hes like made in a lab specifically to target me with how he is#cain even bringing along with him a princess in the form of owen and my fave trope of enemies to lovers. i love it!#i also ended up liking owen cuz of cain cuz i was like: man this guy insane whats up with him. and then i be reading through his stories#and find out hes also insane towards another guy so i was like: i should read through owens stories too#and THEN i find out that: man this guy is insane bout cain too. and honestly thats just how it goes for mhyk characters

I just have some thoughts since I’ve watched the first three episodes now. some things I’m glad the show did and also the things that irritated the fuck out of me so let’s go 👏🏼
1. aging the characters up. I think this is smart to do and there’s more you can do with the rest of them if they’re in their early twenties instead of being teenagers. sorry not sorry but I’m not interested in seeing teenagers being chased by grown adults
2. Clary is still beyond annoying. I know she’s traumatized by losing her mom and not understanding this new world but literally coming in “I don’t care about the clave, about your rules, I just want to find my mom.” yeah ok we get that but there are still rules that need to be followed. you’re out here almost getting people killed and it’s all in the name of your mom. and I’m not saying the clave is trustworthy because they’re massive dicks but you can’t go around running and doing whatever you want lmao
3. please give Alec a raise or a year vacation. the amount of shit he deals with having to be jaces parabatai is too much. honestly, Alec deserves better. Jace takes advantage of Alec and I would have loved to see Alec have another parabatai, one that cares for him. I know you can only have one BUT CUT THE FUCKING CORD PLEASE
4. Magnus is fucking perfection
5. Izzy is perfection too 🔥 I do not blame Simon losing his tongue over her. my bisexual mind was like OOOOO ALEC NO MAGNUS NO IZZY NO RAPHAEL NO MAIA!!!!!!! NO ALL OF THEM
6. Clary and Jace are very cringe and I’m not sure if that’s on the acting or the writing but it makes it hard to believe they’re “in love.” I felt more connection with Alec and Magnus meeting for a second than I did with jace and clary in three episodes. even Alec and jace have a bit more chemistry than he does with clary. and that is something I DO NOT ship
Jace: I would die for you
Clary: but jace we just met
Jace: I don’t care if I throw all my friends and family away clary. we’re destined to be together
7. superb acting from Matthew Daddario. he’s absolutely wonderful and he really captured Alec’s angst in my opinion. you can see why he’s on guard not only because he likes jace (ew my man Alec WHY) and because he’s worried about the safety of his people. I feel like Matt captures the emotion without saying a thing so well. as does Harry. I think they’re both great at this
8. “This would be bad for clary.”- (talking about the cup and valentine) Simon “it would be bad for all of us”-Izzy. of course in Simon and clary world, everything is all about clary. I get simon is worried about his bff but this affects EVERYONE
9. if Simon was my bff and someone as jace talked to my friend that way, ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT. she doesn’t really say much, she’s all like “we’re a package deal.” honestly clary and jace belong together because they both take advantage of their friends. they’re both so self centered so let them run away as far as possible together
10. Alec is big sad now but you will have better, just you wait. also want to add, I enjoy season one for the build up Alec and Magnus but man do I hate Alec pinning after jace 🤢 but if there isn’t any incest, it’s not a proper CC story
11. Im just here for the Malec content. stuff that show did well: Alec and Izzy’s sibling relationship. I love these two so much. Clary actually being nice to izzy and being her friend, and not being mean to her cause she’s jealous. Magnus’s whole attire. I love this bi king so much. I love magnus, I love his sass, his makeup, his clothes. I LOVE HIM. I wish they would’ve changed his hair and makeup more in the last two seasons. kinda feel like they thought oh he has mascara on, that’s good enough. that pink hair is truly one of my favorite Magnus looks.
12. last thing to add that I like what the show did. I love that Alec actually knows how to fight. it never made sense in the books that he’s never killed a demon, especially since he’s a Lightwood. never made sense to me. I’m glad they allowed in the show for Alec to actually be able to fight 🏹
that is all for now until I watch actually one of the best episodes of season one. Magnus and Alec meeting 🥰

this might be self projecting so sorry in advance for my yapping(not a request dont worry!) its kind of a thing ive been thinking about a lot lately, but grim strongly reminds me of my british shorthair cat i lost a few months ago. how yuu cares so much about grim, it just made something snap inside of me i guess??
we all know that yuu has formed a strong bond with grim over their time in nrc, the reason for this could simply be because they practically (grim lol) depend on each other since both grim and yuu are considered as the odd bunch at nrc. (which is probably true cause "yuu" is just a vessel for the reader) but what if yuu had a pet that they cared so much about who passed away recently, their grief being the catalyst for their quick bondage with the furry little guy?
like when grim gets lost or something, yuu would flip the whole school building upside down along with the students, just to make sure he is okay. what would the students think about this? the calm and collected, responsible, nonchalant prefect absolutely losing themselves because one fluff monster of a student is not seen for a few hours? plot twist he just got lost in a random dorm lol
ok thats it bye ilysm
HI ily2
honestly I think grim could be a lot of things for yuu!! this is also something I've thought about. I have younger brothers who I helped raise, and I actually see a lot of our bond in yuu and grim's
and yuu and grim have a parental-sibling-pet-friend-roommate thing going on to me, like that's yuu's cat but also their little baby. you know? if yuu had a pet, or family back home, then grim would serve as their family in twisted wonderland. and grim thinks of yuu as family, too, honestly, I'm sure he does. he doesn't even remember his biological family
but I think grief is actually a pretty big part of their bond, anyway. I mean, just thinking about yuu losing their entire family, their friends, their culture, their favorite things, their history, everything, without really knowing if they'll ever be able to get it back- that's grief. I would be grieving. there's much to be said about that, but that's for another post. the world of twst is so disorienting and complicated and hostile towards yuu, that most of the time it probably feels like they and grim only have each other. he's such an important character in the story
but anyway. I think it's pretty well-known that grim and yuu are a package deal tbh 😭 very few students would think they're irrational for worrying over him, especially post-book 6. grim would be the most annoyed, if anything (he loves/hates being babied). though I guess that depends on the severity of the freakout

Well, Season 2 of TDI Reloaded (TDI Rematch) has had its first four episodes out for about a week. I figured I’d share my thoughts about what we’ve gotten so far:
-The challenges are a little more fun than in Season 1. They have a good amount of variety and the often led to really fun moments between the characters. From the Skunks clogging the toilet slide, to basically all the Rat Faces being carried by Caleb, and of course the AB questions challenge. My girlfriend and I straight up paused the episode each question to try and guess the answers. (We got over half of them right.) As for my personal ranks on the challenges:
-Taking it to the Rim Reaper (Ep. 2): Memorable concept, without going too overboard with it. Also, I’m a bit of a simpleton sucker for the pratfalls.
-Choosin’ for a Bruisin’ (Ep. 4): Great challenge for both character insights and just playing along with it during a first-time viewing.
-You Poor Saps (Ep. 3): I technically prefer Ep.1’s challenge, but this one led to so many gold character moments.
-The Pink Painter Strikes Again (Ep.1): Solid start. Simple challenge, nothing too crazy.
-Animation is pretty much on the same level as Season 1. The facial expressions are GOLD! I’d argue some parts feel more dynamic than Season 1, like the slide moments in Episode 2, but overall, no complaints.
-The characters feel like they never left:
-Priya: I kinda get why she’d fall hard for Caleb, as keep in mind, she’s been stuck with this training with hardly any friends. This also explaining why she instantly jumped to befriending Millie when it seemed they got along. It’s clear that she does value the friendship as she was the only one to give Millie a chance after Episode 2. She also did work as an effective leader in the same episode, instantly taking advantage of the challenge’s slide order rule. Overall, I’m okay with Priya.
-Bowie: I dig his plot. Bowie made it clear at the end of Season 1 that he’s willing to bend the rules…and it’s clear that he probably cares about Raj more. Since people are more weary of him after the finale, it makes sense to have his conflict be more about whether he’d play dirty again. Also, this joker in Episode 4! As a captain (assuming those roles are official) I feel Priya’s more effective, though.
Millie: It’s clear she had alot more learning to do about being a good friend. (I still say both her and Damien could have taken the two-point slide together if they were both weary on the third.) Though her elimination was pretty anticlimactic, unfortunately. I do prefer her in Season 1, but I’m not against the plot they gave her.
Julia & MK: I’m putting them both together because they’re basically a package deal this time around. Overall, live their dynamic. It was a sudden jump from animosity to friendship, but that’s just because they know game when they see it. They have so much fun just being underhanded together, and it’s honestly a refreshing take on villain alliances. While I’d say MK is the breakout of the two, since she’s the brains of the whole alliance, Julia’s dialogue is so on point that it hurts. My hopes is that MK does succeed in backstabbing Julia, but she doesn’t even get mad. She just respects a player and roots for her to win…underhandedly, of course.
Emma: Compared to Millie…honestly not that mixed. I’m glad she cut the chord with Chase early and she got him booted in a clever way. The one thing that’s kinda backwards is how she ends up being a poor judge of character in Episode 4 when she basically red Chase like a book in Episode 2. But then again, I guess that’s just chalked down to being used to his sorry butt the most?
Chase: Everybody (including me) called that he’d be an early boot…and he was. I’m perfectly content with that, as it’s clear that character development was never the end-goal with Chase. And the moment he left, the Skunk Butts became the de facto best team. Props on his ballsy attempt to outrun the balloons in challenge 1, though.
Zee: All I wanted from Zee in Season 2 is for him to still be Zee…Good news, Zee is still Zee. I honestly got worried the “soda influencer” plot would be a cheap and easy way to make him an early boot…and they make him Papa Zee instead. I love this lanky boy.
Ripper: My one complaint on Ripper is that he feels like he’s really not there that much. In Episode 2, he disappears for a good while until the mid-end. And he doesn’t really get to interact with his new team that much. The only real time he interacts with the other skunks is when he asks about how to approach Axel. Let’s talk about Ripaxel…I honestly really wanna see what they do with it! It is a little sudden how it starts, but in its defense, so was Rajbow. Their interactions in Episode 3 were fun to watch, and that POEM. Hey, fanfic writers…Raj and Ripper having a poetry battle…think about it. Despite him disappearing sometimes, what we do get from him is enjoyable. Here’s to more!
Wayne and Raj: My boys are untouched! The one blessing is that they NEVER went for some stupid jealousy plot! (Wayne cares too much for Raj for petty stuff like that.) And they are arguably goofier than in Season 1. (Shoutouts to them wanting burgers after seeing the slides and the “Cyclone-Spin Cycle”) It is funny how many people (again, including me) wanted to see their mischievous side more, but instead the boys are even bigger boy scouts with their understandable disgust at cheating. While I still think one leaving earlier is more likely, I really, REALLY hope that they stick for a little. Imagine them against Julia and MK for at least an episode or two! And while I still would love a Damien VS. MK finale, Wayne or Raj VS. MK works great! Fair and honest player against a crafty cheater. It would be gold!
Damien: I’m really holding out for him since he’s pretty much jogging in place a bit. Sure, he wants to take more risks, but it’s not to a great extent. Then again, the season’s only gotten started. I just hope his crafty side comes out more later. He’s not too afraid anymore, so now he needs to push his brains to the forefront.
Scary Girl: I dig the “Lauren” design. Unfortunately, the “normal” bit wasn’t really used all that much, as she barely had a presence in Episode 1. She had some small scenes, but nothing outstanding until she got herself eliminated. Though given how she was enjoyable, but pretty one-note last season, I feel she works well as a first-boot. Will she return to stalk everyone? Who knows. Probably.
Nichelle: I dig her more confident attitude. Part of me wishes we saw her gaining that confidence DURING the season, rather than all that development being off-screen, though. It makes sense for her to train beforehand, but I would have just as easily liked her having a bit of fire in her and then training throughout the season. As she is, I like how she’s so done with her old Hollywood life. Hopefully she does interact with Damien more, as they seem to have a friendship growing.
Axel: Besides MK, Axel was the biggest relief of the S1 pre-mergers. She’s still hostile and hardcore, but I find her showings of care towards the team being well-needed additions. Examples being her helping Damien back to camp after the four-point slide, and her warning her team to be cautious about getting stuck with the sap. I already said my piece on Ripaxel, so my personal hope is that there is a survival or stealth challenge where the two have to work together. (Ala Hide and Be Sneaky, Eat, Puke, and be Wary, or Hurl and Go Seek if you wanna count the “zombie” thing.)
Caleb: Caleb was simple, and he still kinda is. I like how paranoid he was in Episode 1, but overall he’s just a more effective Justin. I do prefer him over Justin, as he can be a massive asset to the team, as shown in Episode 3. Like Zee, I’m fine with him as is, and can only wait and see what he does in later episodes. Will his alliance become genuine romance or just a tool for Caleb to outlast Priya? Probably the ladder, as he doesn’t seem to show any romantic interest in her that feels genuine.
And that’s Total Drama Island Rematch so far. Tomorrow should be the debuts of Episodes 5 and 6, so here’s to a great season. I was honestly shocked at how much I loved this cast, and how refreshing it felt seeing the show after a seven (eight if you ignore Ridonculous) year hiatus. I will be making sure to watch the series again when it comes to MAX in seventy years. As for whether or not I wanna see the Gen 4 cast again…I’ll probably be content with them stopping their run after Season 2. Reloaded and Rematch work as just two halves of a nice little package, and I really don’t want them to risk having this lovable cast go through what Gen 1 did. If we do get a new season, I’d be fine with them having a new cast. Fans will probably like them as much as they do with Gen 4.

> BORZOI: Read HOMESTUCK like its 2011 (part 2)
I'm back. My barber made me look like Jake English deadass.
Page 4149 i s a neat callback to page 629. I just realised the adjustment of what he's holding, since Egbert replaced him in Janes timeline, which is so interesting.
AND OF COURSE ONE OF THE BEST FUCKING BOOKS KNOWN TO MAN. Pony pals. Detective pony. So awesome. So cool. That's all there really is to say about it. I read the thing on AO3. Janes right it was heavy handed but incredibly intriguing. You remember lolcat Jane? You remember lolcat? Yeah I remember lolcat. Its so cute that the recipe for it is a combination of tiny maplehoof, wise guy, and dirks sweet shades. Its such a neat little combination. A wise horse guy qith an affinity for ponies and sweeeeet fucking shades.
But anyways, I'm getting offtopic. Comparing and contrasting these two Andersons, we also draw parallels of our characters learning valuable information for their session later. In Egberts case, after reading through wise guy, Egbert gets the idea to overlap two cards and create a new totem lathe, alchemising and creating one of the first items. In janes case, she goes to check out the gristwidget and show how it can convert cards to grist, something the kids will find incredibly useful later on in their journeys. The Betas session was about creating and adventuring and finding something new (keeping with the spring theme, you see?) via the kids alchemising loot to make them further overpowered and giving them character. The betas session had BREATH. A lot of it. It was centered around their leader, and gave them all the freedom to go fuck off and do their personal quests with their troll guides and alchemise and learn as they go.
Meanwhile the alphas, again, stick with that autumn theme. The gristwidget is going to prove useful later, because all the enemies and consorts are dead on their planet. Their session is not meant to spring life anew, but to conserve, to survive, not thrive. I guess it's why reasonably we never saw them doing an alchemising session together. It just didn't fit the theme. They were not meant to thrive, they were meant to wait for the end of the long dead winter, to survive off of what they could conserve, for spring. Their leader as stated by Dirk is not Jane, nor Dirk, and heaven forbid Jake, but ROXY. Their leader was Roxy, keeping them together but also essentially setting the stage for the stagnant and obscure nature of their session, one that would test and strain their relationships to the furthest they'd ever been strained.
4154
Don't mind me, just enjoying the subliminals in the background. This shit looks like what I assume a tiktok page looks like.
4155 oh neat!
And here we get another flaw from the get-go. The flaws of the alpha kids are so prominently stated just from the get-go, how opinionated and stubborn and *wanting* to do their way they are but begrudgingly having to put up with others to some extent. Jane getting pestered by Jake, who has no time for japery or mild fun in his quest to deliver the package to Jade who will go on to give it to John and getting downright passive-aggressive. Roxy, in another quest to give a gift but not so urgently, being absent (They had plans) ignoring nor apologising for her absence. She ignores and seems unaware. We start off seeing Roxy at sort of her worst, while others are more reasonable, and then shit flies off the deepend and Roxy straightens herself out (as a leader does) and everyone else sort of catapults into things fucking up. But i'm getting ahead of myself.
Reading this conversation just grates me honestly. Both sides are being pretty inconsiderate and I have to watch through my fingers and let out a breath as they get frustrated at each other. Janes reasonable in feeling chagrined about the whole thing, she's 15 dealing with a friend who's underage drinking and making generally bad decisions and Jane is no therapist by any terms of the words. The alpha kids rely on needling others for getting across things they cant really say upfront because they lack emotional maturity. Going "hey im doing xyz just letting you KNOW just making you AWARE." And it always always allllways backfires on them!! Just be upfront for once you idiots!! I'll put examples as I come upon them, but Jane is the most prominent.
Speaking of Jane, I always headcanonned her voice as either Velma from Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. Velma reminds me of Jane very much, from crushing hard on a clueless and albeit not really fit for guy wearing green to ( and this is just my thoughts ) realising they're both lesbians and avid mystery enjoyers with relatively skeptic if wellmeaning airs behind them. I think seeing Jane in a vein similiar to Velma makes me fond of her.
It's good to see them winding down a little as their conversation comes to an end. At the end of the day they're girls whove been friends for a very long while for better or for worse and i feel like a fair deal of early friendship with the others per Roxy was when she was inebriated which left them in a limbo of "hey what the fuck do we do" especially with Jane, who seems moreso trying to spur Roxy on via comparing how good her life is and how motivated she is in a push for action on Roxys side, to Dirk, who leaves it to his autoresponder to deal with her illadvised advances on his personhood.
Its great to see them while down after they sort of passive aggressively aired their annoyances at each other. At the end of the day its so important to know that despite it all, all the ribbing and nudging and stuff, the alpha kids work to try and spur the others on to be better and take care of them in their own ways, wellintentioned but not always hitting home base, you know?
4160 Here she is playing pretend and giggling over her cute little detective get ups pretending to be a guy with an especially dashing mustache. Meanwhile Egbert in the beta session simply said "This disguise is stupid" and left the premises. But Jane is having FUN with it damnit shes so LOVEL-
Ok. Well yeah you have a point but can you go back to roleplaying.
Well thats the end of janes interaction. Moving onto Jake!
4166 ANNND theres Jake talking about wearing a generally feminine thing and considering it genuinely how he pulls it off. Gender nonconforming as fuck really. Both Jane and Jake. Like daaamn go for it i know what you are. Wear whatever the fuck you want to wear!
Man. Looking at all these movies as a movie nerd its so insane. They revolve around curses from thousands of years ago, green menaces and demons, and blue lady femme fatales that guide the protagonist figure. Also Weekend at bernies 2 SUCKS. Wait holy cow is that smurfette.
Anyways the thing that stands out i guess within these pages is how Jake doesn't exactly cherrypick here. hes pretty upfront with some things and hypothesies.
You think your bed is some sort of electronic gadget. You're pretty sure those bedpost globes are supposed to glow like light bulbs under certain circumstances. But you've never been able to figure out what purpose it serves.
You have never seen a movie you didn't like, you are pretty sure. People give you a hard time for that though.
This is your collection of beauties. But you don't call them that to anyone but yourself in private, because somehow even you are aware of how dorky that sounds.
I guess Jake strikes me as the type to know quite a lot but never know exactly what to do about it. Live and let live while it lives.
You are oft-times the recipient of a good ribbing from Jane on account of your peculiar fascination with blue movie ladies. You don't have to justify yourself to her though. What is even her deal?
Hmm. I don't have anything to say it's 12 am i should probably sleep. So with page 4171 of Jake kissing Neytiri, mirroring a wish to be the hero that Egbert had on page 223, I bid you all adieu- hey whats with these losers and kissing their damn posters.
Jake: Stop kissing stupid poster.
Yes, that was a waste of time. Definitely. It's definitely not something you spend much time doing whenever you are alone, which is always.
Here he is being aware again to some regards, and trying to brush stuff off by showing how aware he is of what others think and how stupid some bullshit is. Which is intriguing to me. The way Jake talks about himself and his internal dialogue and thoughts is so intriguing to me, that often he brings up what he likes, what he thinks, vs relaity, vs others expectations, etc. Hes rather introspective and aware of things, and it's jsut. It's just interesting. Anyways I'm going to pop off to bed now. Goodnight all. I will be thinking about Egbert is so very forthright with whats good and whats not and Janes general deal for theatrics on her thoughts and Jakes more observant nature and write something tomorrow. Leave me a nice reblog or comment or drop a letter in my anon box.

I hate how tmnt will only ever give Mikey development in the comics like he has phased out into a background character at this point who is barley relevant in fact the only reason they add him is because he's part of a package deal and it would be hard to get rid of him even though it's become obvious they don't want Mikey a part of the series what so ever so they do everything in their power to make him as less relevant as they can. Also isn't it suspicious how when any big Mikey projects are in production of being made they suddenly get cancelled.? there was supposed to be a foot solider Mikey movie that got cancelled and the last Ronin was actually in production of being Mikey since the 90s there was another Mikey centric movie were his bros and sensei reverted back to turtles but guess what it got cancelled anything Mikey related that's important either gets \cancelled or thrown into the comics also rise actually had multiple Mikey centric eps on hand but the show got cancelled like it's honestly starting to get annoying let my boy live.
oh yeah, it’s definitely an unfortunate cycle of mikey being cut for time in almost any iteration outside of the comics. i think whilst a lot of people are familiar with all the ninja turtles outside of the realm of fandom, mikey is pretty much “the face man” of the franchise. he’s the one that most kids grew up having as their favourite. he’s gonna be front and center on lunchboxes and kiddie pyjamas. i think in that sense he’s pretty safe from ever being killed off or chopped from the actual franchise itself (plus if they ever did that permanently to any of the turtles, it would cause pretty big uproar) but it means as a result, he’s taken less seriously
i think it just unfortunately falls under the fact that whatever show/movie you’re watching, it quickly becomes apparent what turtle was the favourite of the writers and directors. pretty sure i’ve mentioned this before but the 2003 writers openly expressed how much they enjoyed leo + donnie as characters. you watch the 2003 series and that’s really plainly obvious. it’s not a bad thing, but again, every writer does it. heck, i do it. i write more mikey centric fics than i do, say, donnie, because it’s just more fun that way. a character will ultimately have to suffer at the hands of a writers bias, and sadly it’s always mikey that ends up suffering. just not in the way we want him to lol
that being said it gives me a little hope for the mutant mayhem series and sequel since seth rogan has voiced his favourite being mikey multiple times. i don’t think mutant mayhem solely focused on any one turtle, which i enjoyed, but going into future mediums for that branch of the franchise, i’m keeping my hopes high that he does just something with mikey. the potential is there. i would love to see what he does with it
but yeah. looking back, poor mike gets the short end of the stick. it’s funny, whenever i go back and do a 2012 rewatch, i get about halfway through the space arc and start to feel my enthusiasm dwindle, mostly because “journey to the centre of mikey’s mind” is like. the LAST mikey centric episode of the entire rest of the series (granted he has cool moments in later eps and isn’t totally under-utilised) but if you want an ep that’s just for him, it sadly ends right there.
same with 2003. i adore 2003 mikey but he doesn’t have a whole lot of episode focused on him. i was surprised going into rise that, even though it was considerably shorter than other shows, he still managed to have just a sparing amount of focused episodes on him alone. and then when looking into the deleted episodes, it didn’t really come as a big shock to me that a lot of those deleted episodes were mikey episodes (man i would have really really loved to have seen the robo pet one!!)
it’s also pretty consistent that whatever show or movie, the writers often talk about a plot where mikey’s brothers either end up de-mutated or de-aged and mike has to be the one to save them. kinda funny because it’s like: here’s this opportunity to have mikey really prove himself as more than capable and not just a goof — and yet, multiple times now that idea has been cut and he hasn’t had his chance to prove himself that way
i’m a mikey fan. i love all the turtles the same but i definitely am a mikey fan through and through. of course i’m gonna want a mikey centric plot and arc and all this. i know the chances of ever getting it are very slim but. yknow. i have the last ronin at least…… *sobs*
ANYWAY THAT GOT LONG i hope i didn’t sound like i was coming off like a real curmudgeon there i do still love what mikey we have been given in the last. 40 odd years.. but JUSTICE FOR MIKEY!!! he needs to be given his flowers. someone put him through the emotional meat grinder or i will <3
thanks for this ask anon!!

Writing Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @lord-aldhelm! :)
About me
When did you start writing? Age 16, during school, but I didn't technically start writing fanfiction until my 20s. I was recovering from a nasty surgery and had nothing but time on my hands and so I started to write as a way to pass the time.
Are there different genres or themes you enjoy reading other than the ones you write? I enjoy reading a lot of horror/thriller books, and law dramas too.
Is there an author you want to emulate, or are compared to often? Oh gosh, that's a tough one! As much as I love Bernard Cornwell, Stephen King, Mari Mancusi, and too many author authors to name, I want to say no, I'm not compared to anyone that I know of, but ultimately I want to still sound like "me" when I write.
Can you tell me a bit about your writing space? I have my own writing office. A desk that I keep with minimal clutter but have made it into a cozy ambiance so when I sit down to write most nights I'm not distracted (much).
What’s your most effective way to muster up a muse? Honestly, most of my muses tend to come to me while either dreaming at night time (random but it happens) or while I'm bored at my day job and letting my mind wander and it starts to go into "What If" mode...
Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and/or places you write about? No.
Are there any reoccurring themes in your writing? If so, do they surprise you? Redemption is a troupe I will never get tired of. Also romance!
Characters
Would you please tell me about your current favorite character? I have to pick just one? Lol. Joking aside, Thyra from The Last Kingdom is probably my favorite character right now. She's a woman who's suffered so much torment and abuse and is absolutely the definition of "deserved better." And since Beocca is her husband and I can't bear to separate the two, I would say Beocca/Thyra are a package deal here. But a few close seconds are Jack/Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas) and Finan/Eadith, the ship for The Last Kingdom that should have been and sadly never will be.
Which of your characters would you be friends with in real life? Hmm, definitely Thyra/Beocca, and he'd probably annoy me, but I think I'd get on with Haesten too (TLK) even though he's a weasel on the show, and for Harry Potter, probably my OCs Norah and Ollie Black from my Harry Potter fanfics as well, I think we'd get on great. Oh, and Jack/Sally from my Nightmare Before Christmas fics.
Which characters would you dislike the most if you met them? Aethelwold, Tidman (Last Kingdom), Voldemort (Harry Potter)
Tell me about the process of coming up with your characters? Most of them are already made for me but for the few OCs I have, I tend to just find pictures I like online of people that I think fit the image of the character I have in mind, and then I build a character sheet for him/her and go from there. (sort of like a character sheet for DnD)
Do you notice any reoccurring themes/traits in your characters? Anger management issues (Beocca!), stubbornness, and perhaps a little naive (definitely Thyra and Sally for sure),
How do you picture your characters? I'm a big fan of Mood Boards on Pinterest but I also dabble a little in Photoshop and make my own character manips/images to use to have pulled up to look at while I write in their POVs. It might sound odd but it helps me imagine their look while I write and also to get into their headspace.
My writing
What’s your reason for writing? To fulfill a void the canon source material left in my heart or just because I came up with a "What if this happened" instead of the way that it did in canon.
Is there any specific comment or type of comment from readers that you find particularly motivating? Any and all comments are welcome, especially at this time when comment culture in fandom, at least for fanfics, has definitely changed since I've been a part of it!
How do you want to be thought about by your readers? As a good writer? Lol, not really sure how to answer this one. Hopefully good and that my stories made them happy if they enjoyed them!
What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer? Angst and drama
Have you been told is your greatest strength as a writer is by others? Angst and writing character voices true to their forms
How do you feel about your own writing? Most of the time I feel like it's okay, but I do have spells where I look at chapters and think I could improve that or do better next time and then I struggle not to totally overhaul what I already have posted lol, a curse for me, honestly. I'm constantly working to improve. I suck at smut/fight scenes though, I would say those are my two biggest weaknesses.
If you were the last person on earth, would you still write? Yes, if only to keep myself company and maybe read my stories out loud.
When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, do you write purely for yourself, or is it a mix of both? I write purely for myself and I treat where I post as an archive of sorts, with the mindset that I put them there where they'll be safe if something ever happens and my computer goes on the fritz, but if others happen to come along and enjoy the content I create, then that's an added happy bonus!
Feel free to play along! @holy3cake; @silverhyenaart; @foundtherightwords

Trope rating game
Thank you for the tag @your-catfish-friend @wikiangela @thewolvesof1998
Rules: How much do these tropes affect your decision to click on a fic? -10 -> very dissuaded 0 - don’t care either way +10 -> very enticed nope -> if it’s a hard no and you’d never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or you’d insta click out of the fic if it wasn’t tagged. Bonus points for explaining the rating and whether it’s conditional.
Age gap +1
So long as it's not a huge age gap and if there's smut involved everyone needs to be in their 20s or above.
Codependency +5
Maybe I like it a bit more, honestly so long as it doesn't go into the toxic zone I even find it endearing.
Obsession/possessiveness, jealousy +4
Same so long as it doesn't go into toxic stuff or the whole Dark!character stuff, I enjoy it.
Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc) +7
Don't actually look for it, but tends to be the kind of ships I'm into, I mean have you guys watched Buddie daddies!? I know they're not canon, but I can tell the writers tried.
Enemies to lovers, enemies with benefits +9
Hell yes, I love it.
Friends with benefits +8
I like it. But makes me go 'You guys are already fucking!!! Just confess already!' But I have the same reaction to slow burns so.
Sex to feelings 0
I mostly read 'Feelings to sex' so I'm impartial to this one.
Fake dating/relationship +10
I fucking love it!
Friends to lovers +10
Fucking love it!!!!
Found family +11
I'm so going to fucking click on anything found family!
Hurt/comfort +40
Love that shit, love that those fics can destroy me only to then throw a blanket and a warm drink at the end and say 'everything is going to be okay'
Love triangle +1
They can be fun but to be a true love triangle instead of the typical arrow most media stuff have going on the three people should really be basically into each other not two going crazy for one. in which case just fucking be a poly trio.
Poly, open relationship +2
Depends on the characters to be honest, for example I read reader inserts sometimes and I love Oberyn Martell, he is canonically with Ellaria (and whomever catches their attention) and I can't for the love of god see them separated, they're a package deal for me, so I'm very into reading Oberyn/reader/Ellaria stuff. Beside them I have little to no Poly ships but I'm not against them.
Mistaken/hidden identity +9
I love it even if some times I get frustrated with all the miscommunication, but they're so much fun to read. Speaking of, this series is freaking hilarious and I love it: The ordeal of dating your captain's (adopted) son by @the-amber-raven It has found family stuff too!!!!
Monsterfucking +8
YES.
Pregnancy +5
Don't go looking for normal pregnancy fics... but Breeding kink is 👀 Don't mind M!preg fics either but don't really go looking for them.
Second chance 0
So long as whatever happened isn't unforgivable like say, cheating, not interested into reading fics with infidelity. (I may not like Taylor Kelly a lot, but Buck really really fucked up by not telling her about the kiss as soon as it happened)
Slowburn +100
LOVE IT!!! May get impatient but I freaking love slow burns.
Soulmates +10
I love the whole "OMG it's you!" thing
No pressure tags! @made-ofmemories @wildlife4life @hippolotamus @disasterbuckdiaz @diazblunt @alyxmastershipper @loserdiaz @crowleywasagryffindor @theotherluciferr @forthewolves

don’t let the sun go down on me continues to live in my head rent free so any DVD commentary of that you can spare would be much appreciated 🙏🏼
[from this meme]
Thank you very much!
don't let the sun go down on me
Before I start, I have to thank @trulyalpha / scoutshonour's we have the time, the inspiration, the blueprint, the OG Steve/Nancy/Jonathan vampire fic. Without it, this one wouldn't exist.
"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" is an Elton John song, but the place I first encountered it (and what I was thinking of when I used it for this fic) was Roger Daltrey's cover for The Lost Boys. So. There's that.
The first chapter was written and posted in a feverish haze in June of 2021. It was meant to be a one-shot; I never had any plans to continue it. And then in 2022 Season 4 came out and while I'm generally not impressed with it, I got absolutely obsessed with the idea of vampire trueforms modelled off the Vecna design and things...escalated quickly.
Chapter One
One of the best pieces of advice that I ever received about writing was that the story starts so much later than you often think it does. Especially when I'm writing oneshots, I try to cut right to the the part where the story I actually want to tell starts. In this case, there's a whole leadup of Steve hearing or seeing something in the woods and going to investigate and discovering a monster and some kids seemingly being menaced by the monster and going to the rescue and a whole fight scene that I decided I didn't want to write, because the story was about Nancy and Jonathan being vampires and Steve falling in love with both of them. And honestly, I don't feel like the story is lacking for not having that monster fight in it. A few sprinklings of exposition in the narration and dialogue takes care of it quite nicely.
I love giving vampires eyeshine.
Sometimes, it takes Steve an eternity to understand how things fit together. And then, sometimes, his brain makes lightning-fast connections between random things without his even asking it to.
Steve Harrington ADHD. I don't care what the show says. It just makes sense.
(On an unrelated note, OG Season 3 Robin Buckley also ADHD. I am getting off the soapbox now.)
“That’s my kid sister.”
There are two aspects of Jonathan Byers' character that felt indelibly important to me to preserve even in an AU: he is a big brother, and he is deeply protective of and materially supportive of Joyce. Turning her from his mom into his little sister kept both of those things intact even with the change in timelines. I felt particularly proud of this one.
...and wow, there is something about her saying his name with blood all over her face that Steve is going to just pack away in the back of his mind for later.
It was very important to me and to making this whole thing work that Steve is just wildly, unabashedly, maybe a little bit confusedly but totally wholeheartedly horny for the whole vampire deal. He's discovering so many new things about himself over the course of this fic, and a fetish for fangs is just part of the package deal.
He doesn’t want to be a vampire. There are probably a lot of very good reasons for that, and the fact that the only one coming to his stunned mind is that vampires probably don’t get basketball scholarships means nothing.
This just made me laugh when I thought of it.
“Oh shit, is it bad?” Steve turns to look at Jonathan. He sounds like he’s less likely to try to sugar-coat it. “It sounds like it’s bad. ..."
"Son of a bitch, Lucas, is it bad?!"
The whole idea of vampire thralls and Steve maybe becoming one was something that was on my mind throughout the rising action in we have the time, but never came up in that fic. I wanted to dig into the concept, and also, it seemed like a good excuse to force Nancy and Jonathan to have to pull Steve into their investigation of the events of Season 1.
Nancy and Jonathan basically forgetting Steve's there so they can rehash an old argument (and also drop some exposition because I'd never expected to continue this fic but I had backstory I wanted to sneak in) is so funny to me, one of the ways I wanted to show they were an established established (read: old married) couple, and also quite possibly the moment Steve fell helplessly head over heels for both of them.
His mom’s sleeping with Prince Valium tonight
Lifted this line from Beetlejuice because I think it's criminally underrated. Also because, as I mentioned in my other post, my go-to characterisation for Steve's mom is just Delia Deetz. Also, also, it unintentionally became good foreshadowing.
Just because he keeps deciding to do what he thinks will make the prettiest girl alive happy – Oh. Shit. She’s not alive, though. Is she.
When I first started writing this, I had Steve referring to Nancy as 'the prettiest girl in the world' before he knew her name. And then I realised I could do this if I made one little change.
Jesus. Steve hadn’t even asked if they kill people.
Yeah, I don't think he ever actually does end up asking that.
Chapter Two
As mentioned above, in about September 2022 the bug bit me hard and I resurrected this fic from the dead, with 'vampires, but make it Vecna-inspired and explicitly Upside-Down-related' on my mind and a half-formed thought about a murder mystery. I thought this fic had maybe three chapters in it, total, counting the original oneshot. I thought it would be quick and easy to wrap up. Hahahahahaha.
I did actually start writing this chapter back when I wrote the original oneshot - the scene where Steve finds the obits at the library, specifically up to the part where he's looking at Nancy and Jonathan's yearbook photos, was written in 2021. I decided to cut off the fic the night of Nancy and Jonathan's visit because I didn't have a direction to go in to continue it, and it felt like a complete thought. Also, I was only adding onto it because I wanted the mental image of Nancy and Jonathan in fifties styles.
And then, in 2022, I stumbled upon a direction to go in to continue it.
"...Why am I out in the woods at night with a bobby soxer who wears a virgin pin?”
Shoutout to @marzipanandminutiae who was talking about fashion history and popular fashion myths, and brought to my attention both the fad of circle pins for girls in the fifties and the myth that wearing them on one or the other side of your cardigan meant that you had or hadn't had sex / whether you would have sex. Fearmongering about silly teenage accessory trends having to do with secret sex signals didn't start in my youth, apparently. (Anybody remember jelly bracelets? I was a full adult before I found out those were supposed to be a kind of playground handkerchief code.)
I looooove writing ominous horror scenes where Something Bad Is Lurking and the characters are starting to realise it too but they will not know until it's too late. New favourite thing. Love tension. Love when everybody's thinking the same thing but nobody dares to come right out and say it.
You heard Chief Keller.
Yes, I have been watching Riverdale in fascinated horror. It's just...it's so audaciously bonkers. And so fully committed - at least for the episode or two each of them lasts - to its bits. I have to respect that. And it makes me feel sooooooo good about my plotting and pacing capabilities.
(Also, Chad Michael Murray giving an actually pretty thoughtful and nuanced performance as a charismatic high-control group leader, only to throw it all out the window when he got told 'oh btw your character dies next episode' and start gnawing through backdrops like the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar while doing three costume changes in two scenes and then trying to Evel Knievel his way off a building in a homemade rocket only to get unceremoniously and undramatically shot dead offscreen, not even by a main character, is something I never knew I needed in my life. This show makes so many choices and all of them make me want to take the tops off the writers' heads and dissect their brains.
But I digress.)
Usually when he’s on the receiving end of that stare, Hopper’s digging for something to tie him to anything from the giant GO TIGERS spraypainted across the courthouse to the beer cans and partygoers hastily hidden all over the house behind him to the rotten eggs splattered all over the side of a police cruiser, and the best course of action is to look wide-eyed and innocent and only say ‘No, chief, I have no idea about that’.
Just given who they are and what their respective roles in the community have been up until this point, there is a deep, rich vein of hilarity in Hopper and Steve both ending up in the Upside Down crew (I'm still pushing for 'fellowship' to refer to everyone who Knows, it's thematically and textually appropriate!) that has yet to be mined.
Happened the same year they opened up that lab south of town.
I'll be honest, I avoided saying much about how the events of canon went down in this 'verse on purpose. Partly because it's Season 1 and our POV character is Steve, who never gets told anything until it's much, much too late, but also partly because I didn't finish Season 4 and don't care enough to seek out spoilers to know what happened. And I think that what Season 4 tries to establish as Lore could have some serious bearing on what would make sense for the backstory to the canon events in this story. So. Please fill in the gaps as appropriate.
Steve drums both hands against the desk, and the librarian gives him a flat, unimpressed look that’s almost the twin of the one Hopper gave him in the reading room. Apparently he just has this effect on adults.
Steve Harrington ADHD.
Jonathan’s so busy sawing at the last of the vines still wrapped around Nancy’s ankle that he doesn’t notice the thick central stalk of the plant…thing pushing back up through the crumbling ground behind him.
I wrote a post about this and now tumblr won't let me find in search on my blog, because it won't show me basically any original posts I made between about June of last year and now in search on my blog, for some fucking reason. But. The way I conceptualised it is that this thing Nancy and Jonathan fought is the most stripped-down, basic trueform of a vampire in this 'verse. The two of them got infected while they were fighting it. Basically it planted seeds or spores or whatever it uses to reproduce into their bodies, and then grew throughout those bodies, intertwining its central stalk with their spines and its vines with their nervous systems so it could animate the bodies even after its intrusion killed them. Jonathan and Nancy both still have intact (or mostly-intact) brains, intact senses of self and memories. But they've also got new biological needs and new, compelling instincts that can overtake their higher brain functions in the right circumstances. And if you stripped away all the meat and muscle, you'd find something that looks an awful lot like this evil plant that tried to eat them growing on a trellis made out of their bones.
Vampires in this 'verse are a kind of parasitic fungus. (Which is also why ingesting their blood can affect the behaviours and brain functions of other people, and even make others like them.) I think this is the coolest shit and I will not stop talking about it. That is all.
(Also. Steve's still hot and bothered about it. That's important too.)
Nancy’s not sure how long they sit there, together, clutching each other and just trying to breathe.
Neither Nancy or Jonathan can see much of what's going on around them at this point, so I'm pretty sure this is where Brad found them. And how Brad found them.
Nicole’s not bad-looking, and she’s a fun time at parties even if she is kind of a nerd. And they’re both single right now. Steve’s not sure why he suddenly wants to pull away.
It's because you're already hopelessly in love with two other people. Hope that helps.
I can kind of understand how and why the fandom sort of collectively forgets Fred existed. I wouldn't say he was the biggest standout of Season 4's crop of cannon fodder for me, either. But you show me a weedy little nerd of a character who's using a prickly sarcastic sense of humour to deflect from a truly monstrous baggage of survivor's guilt and blame around unintentionally hurting someone he cared about in a way that can't ever be ameliorated or forgiven, and then be like 'yeah everybody in-canon and in the fandom kinda forgot about him lmao', and. Well. Now I gotta do something meaningful with him. I gotta.
Also, he made a good red herring suspect.
He thinks about Nancy’s apologetic smile as she said she thought she’d enthralled him, about how Jonathan had said or you’d lose your mind, and wonders, for the first time, how they know.
I also got to this plot point by writing Nancy and Jonathan's turning, stopping, realising they would not know any other vampires, and wondering, myself, how they heck they'd know all that stuff about blood and thralls. The answer that presented itself was: firsthand.
When she tries to raise her arms, to pull away the covers that have somehow gotten wrapped over her face, she bumps into something flat and cold and solid barely a few inches above her.
I learned after writing this that apparently the fridges in a morgue are like one big open space with all the rolling trays sliding back into it, not like a narrow slot for each tray with top, bottom, and sides. Oh well.
Nancy pulls the letterman jacket she’d been wearing from the plastic bag full of her clothes that they’d found in the trash. Her expression is mournful, almost stricken, as she takes in the ragged slashes torn through the leather of the sleeves, the frankly astonishing size of the rusty red-brown stain surrounding a single puncture in the back. It makes the tiger applique look like its snarling mouth has just taken a bite out of some fresh prey.
Have I mentioned lately that I love heavy-handed visual symbolism?
...the dingy little trailer he calls home.
Okay, so in the fifties, as I found out after I'd finished writing this, the mobile home park was still more in the 'new and exciting' category than what it would have been in the eighties. Think less Trailer Park Boys and more tiny home. However. I did not do extensive research before writing this, because I was most interested in the vampire part. And it seems to me that the kinds of people buying or renting holiday trailers to live in year-round would still have been people who thought it made more financial sense than buying a permanent building. It's also possible that Jonathan and Joyce's family were in a better position at the time they moved in than the one they're in as of this fic.
It’s been made clear to Steve on multiple occasions that one of the few rules he actually has to follow in this house is don’t bother your father when he’s in his office.
I talked a lot about what I think of Steve and his parents and their relationship and how a lot of it boils down to 'they're rich and self-centred and they're raising him the same way'. This is part of that - Steve's internalised that there are some rules that apply to him, and some that don't, and that that's just how things work, some rules apply to some people and not to others, some rules don't matter and some rules do, and it's all a matter of whether someone more powerful than you will punish you if you get caught breaking them. It seems consistent with his Season 1 characterisation, and also, it's some foreshadowing, in that it shows how the person who taught him this thinks.
Everybody knew old Gower drank like a fish.
Yeah, this name was lifted from It's A Wonderful Life. It's not actually relevant to the story, just a fun fact.
She can feel the tension in Jonathan’s arms, before she lets go. But he doesn’t raise them again. Trusting her completely.
...
Nancy doesn’t resist. She doesn’t protest. She just lets Jonathan pull her away from civilisation and deeper into the woods. Trusting him completely.
Parallel presented without comment.
“You didn’t tell me you dated my dad.”
...
“In Dracula. The vampire’s servant is named -”
...
"And from how you both apparently think humans are just here for you both to mess around with ..."
So, in case it's not clear (because Steve hasn't realised it yet, so it's deliberately oblique), this whole fight is actually about him feeling envious over Nancy and Jonathan's relationship, and between the two of them together and finding out about Fred and about Nancy dating his dad, feeling like he's not actually important to them in the way he'd kind of let himself think he was, but only one in a string of people they've used and abandoned. Steve's feeling like he cares way more about them than they do about him, and also maybe he's a little scared by how much he already cares about them. And also he doesn't have the emotional intelligence to identify correctly how he's feeling and why, so he takes it out on them both.
This is not a recommended course of action for dealing with monsters than can tear you open as soon as look at you, by the way.
“Steve,” Nancy says, like Steve’s a dog who’s just pissed on the rug.
He is really not feeling valued in this relationship, folks.
Also, like in canon, Jonathan will take anything mean anybody says about or to him. But the instant you drag his family into it, it's game over.
She only lives – her family’s house is ...
I made the same mistake Nancy does, went to correct it, and then went, 'ohhhHHHHHHHH'.
Chapter Three
I really, honestly did think this was going to be the final chapter of this fic when I started writing it.
I like Tommy and Carol because like. They're not evil, they're just high school evil. I like them best as people who genuinely like and care about each other (and Steve), who just have absolutely no idea how to express that in a positive way without the forces of high school social politics dictating how they interact with each other. Likewise, I think Tommy both looks up to Steve and resents the fact that he's second to Steve, and is always looking for little opportunities to both impress and one-up Steve. (Which is part of why he's second to Steve - because he's too obvious about how much he cares. High school, man.)
Except. He’d been so angry when he’d thought Jonathan was a murderer. Like Jonathan had personally betrayed him. Steve’s not sure what that means. If it means anything. He’s not sure he wants to think too much about it.
Some fics I write are about the slow development of feelings between characters. Not this one. Steve caught feelings before the story even started, and the rest is just him slowly realising that that's happened.
Trying to lay seeds of evidence for the solution to the murder plot while misdirecting readers away from where they're actually supposed to point is hard, but also so much fun. I tried to make each of my clues, independently, be something that could point in two or more directions. So, for example, Fred's notebook with his evidence that there was foul play in Nancy's death being missing after the crash points toward his accident being intentional, and the actual murderer trying to suppress the evidence, but it doesn't point to one specific suspect. Personally, I thought it suggested the lab most strongly. But when you put it all of the evidence together, you start to see that some of those alternate options cancel each other out, which leaves only the one, true murderer right in the crosshairs.
It's a technique I'm going to be carrying forward in my plotting in the future. After all, when you boil them down, most stories are, at heart, either a mystery or a romance. And romances are a kind of mystery, because you need to be leaving and developing clues about why these people like each other, and -
Anyway.
“Nance. It’s okay. It’s been thirty years. I’ve made my peace with it. I’m dead.”
I love Jonathan 'resigning myself to it so I don't have to hope for anything because hoping for something and (inevitably) not getting it would break me in half and somebody in this family(/relationship) has to be The Strong Reliable Okay One' Byers and love and consideration breaking down his shitty coping mechanisms so much. I also love undead characters being matter-of-fact about not being human when it clearly bothers them more than they want anyone to know. Two great tastes that taste great together.
And tried not to think too hard about the last time he’d had a girl who wasn’t Carol up here.
Steve: it's not weird that I'm thinking about sex while I'm inviting Jonathan and Nancy into my bedroom. Nancy's here and I'm in love with her. So it's not weird.
Steve straightened up and turned around with it in hand, only to catch both Nancy and Jonathan watching him intently. “What?”
They were both staring at his ass while he was bent over with his back to them, here.
(That's not a joke, that's actually what I was going for.)
"... You, obviously, and Brad, and Chief Keller, and anybody they might’ve told about it, I guess…”
Another thing about laying clues - it's good if they can have more than one logical interpretation, because then you can have your characters put the pieces together and move forward based on entirely the wrong logical interpretation, and then your characters don't look stupid or oblivious. (Unless, of course, that's what you want.) But, it's also good to keep bringing up the actual right answer to the mystery in conjunction with those clues. Not so much that it's obvious. Just enough so that the actual solution is kept in the reader's mind, so when the big reveal comes they're not going 'wait, who? What? Why? Where did he come from?', but 'OOOOOOHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhh.'
Did I get this in this fic? That is for you to tell me. But that's what I was going for.
He was interrupted by a choked noise from Jonathan, and a disbelieving, “Chief Hopper? Chief Jim Hopper?” from Nancy.
I just think that characters having different perspectives on each other is a rich vein to be mined for characterisation and also for hilarity. And also the idea of these two being older teenagers when Hopper was in middle school just demanded to be brought up.
And since when does Steve care so much about what Jonathan thinks of him, anyway?
He is so stupid (affectionate).
“- said they lost the bodies, Joyce! Lost them! ..."
This fic was specifically about Steve and Nancy and Jonathan, and in Steve's POV, so I didn't really get to get into the other two parallel storylines. But I did want to give a sense that they were going on, and also a glimpse at what was going on in them. It's one of my favourite things about Season 1.
“This isn’t funny, kid. What, is Bill Hagan’s boy in the bushes with a video camera? ..."
Every interaction Hopper and Steve have ever had before today makes it absolutely reasonable for Hopper to come to the conclusion that Steve is playing a cruel practical joke! He's wrong, we as readers know he's wrong, but he doesn't have the luxury of our perspective on Steve and it makes sense for him to think it! I just love it when characters have impressions and perspectives of each other that are shaped by their experiences with each other, and are necessarily incomplete, biased, influenced by their own prior experiences, and not the same as the impression or perspective the reader has! It makes characters feel whole and distinct from each other and human, to me!
"... I mean, you are vampires. I still don’t even know what you eat.”
Oh, he did ask! I'd forgotten. Would've been in character for him to just conveniently forget, though.
... Steve’s sure would have had the neighbours calling in yet another noise complaint if they weren’t in Bermuda...
I love a good foreshadowing, don't you?
“You can’t be Mike,” she’s insisting, in the face of all the evidence. “Last time I saw Mike, he was just two years old.” “So was Will, Nancy,” Jonathan says, so gently. It’s sweet how hard he’s trying not to laugh. “No. It has not been ten years since the last time we were here. That can’t possibly be right.”
This, unfortunately, is just what being an adult is like.
He doesn’t even really understand what’s going on. Something about making a sensory deprivation tank, or maybe a battery? The kids had all kind of been talking over each other when they tried to explain. But apparently, this pool full of body temperature water and road salt is supposed to help them find Will Byers. Somehow.
Is it really even the season's big group DIY project if Steve Harrington doesn't not fully understand what's going on?
“The way I lost it on Steve, the other night,” Jonathan says, flatly. “That’s not – he’s a complete stranger, he shouldn’t have been able to get to me like that. I shouldn’t have let him get to me like that. And you, nearly turning him -”
Jonathan Byers: The only possible explanation for how crazy we've both been acting over Steve is interdimensional interference. The only possible explanation.
If these three could communicate with each other for five minutes and all get on the same page, there would have been no story.
Steve is so hot for everything inhuman about Nancy and Jonathan that it's almost embarrassing and I love that for him.
Were Nancy and Jonathan not sure about how to get into the lab because I wasn't sure how to get them into the lab? I'll never tell, and I'm sure you'll never guess.
Nancy and Steve calling each other 'Nicole' and 'Brad' in their fake fight was unreasonably funny to me. Actually, the whole fake fight was so much fun to write. I considered cutting it, because I'm not sure it adds anything to the story as a whole, but...well, this is fan fiction. Also, I wanted to give Steve a chance for his strengths to shine and to save the day in front of the two people he most wants to impress. He was angling hard to get himself and Nancy taken inside so he could 'call his dad'. And it almost worked, too.
That warm, wet something trickling down Steve’s forehead chooses that moment to drip into his eyelashes, sticking them together for a moment.
We all got that Steve realised he was bleeding and that Jonathan was injured and likely to attack him over it, and then went over to try to help Jonathan anyway, yes?
Something moves under Steve’s fingers, those black veins shifting in Jonathan’s throat like living things, and Steve has to swallow down bile.
Parasitic fungus!
There’s no emotion Steve can discern in Jonathan’s voice at all as he says, “I’ll kill you.” Steve has maybe never thought so fast before in his life. “Like Nancy with the dog,” he says, and Jonathan lets out a shuddering exhale.
Jonathan's trying his hardest to scare Steve off for his own safety, make Steve think he's threatening him, but Steve stops and thinks about it first, unlike when he jumped to the conclusion that Jonathan was a murderer, and - correctly - identifies it as a statement of fact. That Jonathan won't be able to help himself, because he's injured badly and needs blood. I figured this whole interaction was the moment Jonathan finally mentally went aw, shit, I'm in love with this stupid stubborn asshole.
“You’re not really much of a killer, man.”
Specifically, this exact moment, when Steve completely backtracks on everything he'd said the previous night about Jonathan being a murderer and places his life entirely into Jonathan's hands.
It's not really all that much like what he’d imagined, the other night, with his hand down his boxers. But fuck if it isn’t still lighting up those crossed wires in Steve’s head like the Fourth of fucking July.
The older I get, the less I'm interested in vampire bites ~not really hurting at all~ and ~inducing euphoric bliss~ and the more I'm interested in the people on the receiving end of vampire bites just being huge fucking masochists.
And he knows he’s never seen her with that dead-eyed, monstrous face on before. Steve’s dick does its level best to give an interested twitch about it.
In The Lost Boys, the only vampire/half-vampire who we don't get to see with monstrous, freaky vampface on is the female love interest. I think this rather denotes a lack of courage.
Chapter Four
I wrote pretty much all of chapters four and five as one piece, and then waffled over whether to split them into two. I even polled he studio audience here on tumblr (though not actually with a poll because I was late to get polls). I'm pretty sure the result was 'one big-ass long chapter please'. And then I went ahead and split it into two anyway.
It’s an uncomfortable feeling, having somebody else, somebody he’s made a practical career out of lying to, invent him such a plausible alibi without any input from him.
The thing is, while the perception of Steve that Hopper has from seventeenish years of shenanigans is incomplete, it's also not wrong. It is a spooky feeling to know you've been perceived, and with more recognition and understanding than you'd realised, but the person doing the perceiving still doesn't like you.
They’re both making their arguments like they’re concerned for Steve. But Steve, slumped in the backseat, resting his aching head against the cool glass of the rattling window, knows them both well enough to know that what they’re really fighting about is his dad’s fucking around. He’s heard them make the exact same arguments, in almost the exact same words, about who’s going to stay home and take care of his dad’s tropical fish.
Tell me you had a kid when you should have gotten a dog (okay, well, maybe you also shouldn't have gotten a dog) without telling me...
"...The things we do for our ungrateful kids, huh?” Hopper’s eyes narrow, a little.
If you can't tell that Jim Hopper would cheerfully strangle this man in cold blood and broad daylight just to have a chance to get stuck staying home with his concussed kid, then I haven't done my job.
“You’re lucky to be alive, asshole,” Carol agrees. Steve can’t explain why his chest suddenly feels so hollow.
...
“And thanks for saving my life or whatever, I guess.”
...
It hurts more if Steve presses his fingers against the bandage just over where the bite mark’s trying to scab closed.
I spent a lot of time wallowing in the sense of missed opportunities and squandered chances that leads Steve to take some stupid, risky chances - like, for example, confronting somebody he thinks is a murderer to his face. He's clearly missing Nancy and Jonathan, and feeling like he's missed his one chance with the both of them even though he'd never put it into words like that at this point, but also - he's trapped in the house with people who genuinely don't care enough whether he lives or dies to worry about him for his own sake, and feeling like maybe he doesn't, either. He was ready and willing to die happy in the woods that night, and now he's been denied that, and he's staring down the barrel of up to eighty more years of just the same mundane tedium and catty, shallow relationships and bullshit.
I had to raise the temperature slowly to a boil, to get this boy ready to do something drastic, and it's one of my favourite parts of this fic.
The lady at the ticket window tells him that with the Greyhound drivers’ strike, she can’t guarantee he’ll get to wherever he’s going when he wants to be there.
I found out about the Greyhound strike in the 80s when I was doing a little googling to figure out how likely it'd be for them to have a route that'd take Steve out to Pennhurst, and absolutely had to toss it in. For historical flavour, and to hammer home the sense of isolation and futility. It just dovetailed so nicely.
She looks over Steve’s shoulder, at the woman who’d reached for him, and smiles warmly, though there’s still steel in her voice as she says, “And you’d do well to remember you’re a guest in his house. Evelyn, stop trying to mooch cigarettes off the visitors, you and I both know the doctor doesn’t want you to have them.”
'Spooky scary asylum inmates' is a shitty trope that sucks. Steve absolutely 100% would have no other schema for mental illness, though. I tried to thread that needle by having him react initially with horror to the weird, strange, freaky behaviour of the inmates, and then recontextualise that behaviour as like. yeah she just wants to bum a cigarette. what's your problem. Also to keep reminding Steve that hey, you were like three drops of blood away from being in that exact same position, and your future health and sanity is Not Guaranteed. Not sure how much any of that succeeded but. There was only so much lipstick I was gonna be able to put on that pig.
Why Steve can’t just leave it alone. His life is better, they chorus in the theatre of his imagination, if he just shuts up and keeps his head down and pretends not to notice or care like the coward he is.
There is a question that the show raises and that I think this fic is asking, which is, was Steve always the kind of guy who'd go running to the rescue with a bat when it came down to the wire and people's lives were on the line, no questions asked, or did he need Nancy's influence to let him become that? And the answer is yes. I do like how in canon it's Tommy's goading about how Steve always runs away that ends up getting him to go face his fuckups and his fears. How it's his old friends, being their shitty selves, who help move him toward becoming a better version of himself. I have several emotions and none of them are coherent.
“Hey, I’ve got to get going, I was really just passing by – but when Jonathan comes back, let him know I was looking for him? That I wanna talk to him? Or Nancy, if you see her.”
In my original draft, Steve came straight home from Pennhurst and went and confronted his dad. (Well, okay, he had dinner first.) And then I realised there was no reason for Nancy and Jonathan to break their 'we're going to stay away from Steve so maybe we don't accidentally murder him for real this time' streak, and they probably wouldn't be coming to the rescue. Which is why this scene's here. However. I like it a lot and I'm glad it's here. Steve very awkwardly trying to interact with anyone other than Nancy and Jonathan immediately post-Season 1 gives me life.
... or some kind of strategy to stop Logansport’s freakishly fast point guard from kicking all their asses.
I did Actual Research for this line (read: I looked on Google Maps and compared the positioning of Hawkins within Indiana on the Season 2-3 geological survey map to small-ish cities in the area who could believably be high school rivals to their sports teams, and also looked at the Wikipedia page for 'basketball'). I will have it appreciated.
Of life before it all turned upside down on him.
I will not stop making stupid jokes and that is a threat.
His mom jokes over dinner that maybe Steve should be concussed more often, it’s been so quiet and peaceful around the house.
A+ Parenting
I talked at length about the confrontation between Steve and his dad, so I won't rehash it.
“You should know,” she says, taking a single step toward them, as slow and deliberate as her nod. “After all, you were the one who killed me.”
Nancy Absolutely Did Not know this until approximately ten minutes ago. She is doing a fantastic job of bluffing.
“I didn’t,” Jonathan says, low enough that at first Steve isn’t sure if he really heard it at all. “You believe me, right? I didn’t.” “What? Barbara? I know that, he has no idea what he’s talking about, can we just go?”
Jonathan still can't quite believe that Steve doesn't actually think he's a heartless, remorseless killer without anything human left in him. Mostly because that's sort of how Jonathan's been thinking about himself for the last thirty years. (Remorseless killers usually do not have this much angst about their lack of remorse, Jonathan. Protip.)
Chapter Five
After what he’s heard, tonight, he doesn’t want to give his dad the chance to say that Steve went after him, that the knife was self-defense. That a combination of the concussion and some local history project just deluded Steve into thinking his dad was a killer.
I got a lot of comments on chapter four about how Steve's dad wasn't thinking and how was he planning to get away with murder after he killed his own son in his own office in cold blood. I let myself go down the rabbit hole a little thinking about how, exactly, he would try to get away with it. And I think Steve knows his dad well enough by now to have a pretty good idea.
It turns out that limping into a police station covered in your own blood is a great way to get a lot of attention very quickly.
I'm just very proud of this line.
“Jesus, Harrington, they’re gonna have to start giving you frequent flyer miles.”
I promise I didn't set out writing this fic planning to nearly kill Steve three separate times. It just...happened.
... Hopper shoots an awkward, try-hard grin in Steve’s direction and drops into the chair beside his hospital bed. “Heyyyy, kid. How you feeling.”
I just think Hopper's absolutely abysmal bedside manner in Season 2 is the funniest thing. And. Well. Just made myself sad thinking about the possible reasons why he's so bad at being normal beside a hospital bed with a kid in it. Okay!
It seems to me to be a very popular trope for Steve to end up getting kind of pseudo-adopted by Hopper and Joyce. I see why it appeals, but it's never clicked for me. And yet. The logical progression of this fic led me here. Never say 'I'll never write...'.
At least Will sounds slightly less accusing than Mike Wheeler had when he says, “What’re you doing here?”
We collectively as a fandom do not honour Will Byers' sassmaster energy enough.
“Yeah, no shit I’m upset. What was that? Just drop me and run like an unwanted baby at a firehouse?”
Steve is...kind of a fascinating contradiction in terms, in some ways, to me. I see a lot of fanon where he's very much a sick cat about things that bother him, that he'll shut down and try to hide what he's feeling for the sake of other people, and I don't think that's wrong necessarily but I do think it's...incomplete. Like, maybe he would downplay the seriousness of his own hurts and how much they're affecting him if being honest about them would hurt other people...but that absolutely doesn't mean he's not going to bitch about them. Loudly.
“Witless protection program,” Jonathan says.
We also as a fandom collectively need to appreciate how funny Jonathan is more often.
This whole confrontation was a bit of a balancing act. I didn't want it to turn into an angstfest. There was a certain degree of 'avoiding you for your own good'/'denying my feelings for your sake' mutual pining going on in this story, and I really needed there to be a good reason why these characters didn't just communicate with each other (or, at least, for the characters themselves to feel like they had a good reason). I also didn't want to wallow in that misunderstanding, because quite frankly it drives me batty when characters who are mutually into each other end up in a situation where it's almost unavoidable that their true feelings must come out and they must communicate, but they squander it on doing everything in their power to deliberately interpret everything the character they're into does or says as rejection, and deliberately hiding all of their actual thoughts and feelings to try to drive off the character they're into. Like, at a certain point you step past obliviousness and into 'yeah maybe you guys shouldn't be together, actually, if this is how you're gonna be'. These guys aren't communicating well, but god dammit, they're communicating.
It’s so – direct. No hesitation. None of Jonathan’s usual holding back. Just confidence, certainty.
Jonathan Byers has never been hotter than that moment in the hallway in Season 1 where he's throwing that lighter and that's just facts. It's the purpose, clarity, and confidence.
Jonathan devours his mouth like – like he’s starving to death and Steve’s an open wound.
I was proud of this line, too.
... and turns on the smile that’s made half the female population of Hawkins High turn cherry-red and suddenly become very amused by the floor.
This is totally the face he gave Nancy when he was trying to convince her to play 'strip flashcards' in s1e1.
...Jonathan’s got an arm around her waist and his face pressed into the crook of her neck, pressing kisses to the pale skin exposed by the slip of her robe. She raises an arm to cradle his head...
And this is absolutely the Dirty Dancing pose. Minus the side-skimming hand gesture that tickled Jennifer Grey badly enough to bust out laughing.
“I don’t have any blood flow,” he says, sounding defensive. “It’s got to be within a couple hours after I’ve eaten if you want me to, uh.”
I went back and forth on whether to include this, and finally decided I was leaving it in because it made my friends laugh. And because I love speculative fantasy xenobiology in action. 'But Mary, drinking blood won't introduce it to the circulatory -' I already told you these vampires are a parasitic fungus animating dead flesh, right? The fungus uses fine tentacle-vine-root-things woven through the flesh to puppeteer it? And the fungus feeds on blood, which means it uses blood for energy to, for example, move its limbs? I can bullshit this one if I want to. (Which I do.)
He remembers thinking the snake was beautiful, even as he was nearly pissing his pants in terror that it’d bite him. And now that he’s thinking about it, that comparison feels a little on the nose.
I got halfway through writing that first sentence and realised it needed a lampshade, badly.
Carol even styles Steve’s hair how he likes it, when she’s done. And there’s no way she could’ve known how looking in the mirror and seeing the hair that earned him his nickname perched on top of the haunted, battered face of a boy Steve barely recognises would make him suddenly and unexpectedly feel like throwing up.
The metaphor here may be a little unsubtle. Carol and Tommy are actually trying to be good friends to Steve, in their own, selfish, high-school-politics-influenced way. And it's got to hurt when he rejects that. But they're trying to make him feel better by getting him back to his old self. And that's only making it worse.
... some four-eyed fairy who took Nicole out to the movies last weekend in this classic car he’d restored. For this cardinal sin, one of Tommy’s buddies tracked down the auto wrecker’s where the kid’s been keeping the car while he works on it, so tonight –
I stand by my theory that Chrissy Cunningham's name is a reference to Stephen King's Christine. And so is this.
... Steve’s dating two people at once. (He tried that, once before, with Laurie and Becky. It did not end well. With the benefit of hindsight, knowing what he knows now, maybe he should’ve just asked them both if they’d be cool with it. Although he thinks the answer probably still would’ve been no.)
It is very important to me that, even when he is Having Self-Affirming Realisations and Growing As A Person, Steve is still a teenage boy.
Nancy, it turns out, likes gritty courtroom dramas.
It took me a while to figure out what kind of movies I think Nancy would like. John Grisham adaptations and Twelve Angry Men seem up her alley, though.
Jonathan’s shoulders are starting to hunch forward, turtling in on himself. He still hasn’t even moved to touch the glass Steve put in front of him.
As far as I know it's never explicitly stated in canon that Lonnie Byers is an alcoholic, and he's not even Jonathan's dad in this fic anyway, but it just makes sense to me that Jonathan does not enjoy drinking or being drunk or being around drunk people and I'm going to carry that through in everything I write.
The guy who helps Steve find what he’s looking for really knows his stuff, even if he can’t seem to resist a cheesy pun.
I love Bob Newby and I'm going to shoehorn him in everywhere I possibly can. That is all.
The scene with the kids and the D&D game was pure self-indulgence. If I were a better writer or this were a more professional piece, I might have cut it. However, this is fanfiction, and driver picks the music.
I moved Steve out to California one part so that I could do this whole thematic bit about Nancy and Jonathan choosing him, choosing to stay with him, one part because I realised I really had burned his life in Hawkins down to the ground and the most hopeful thing would be for him to be able to start over, and one part because I just thought it would be fun.
“We’ve got nothing but time.”
This was a little bit a nod to we have the time.
There was no way this fic was ever going to be complete without Steve getting to at least meet Robin. They have a beautiful friendship ahead of them.
(I've got to be honest, I've never vibed with Argyle. He annoys me on a fundamental level. But there was something about including him in this scene and in the nascent relationship between these versions of Robin and Steve that just...worked. As with Murray and Owens, whether or not a character is unbearably irritating can be a matter of which other characters they get to bounce off of and what they bring out of each other as much as that character in a vacuum.)
And that's all she wrote! I still have a vague, half-formed idea in my mind about a sequel (Barbara Holland wasn't as dead - or perhaps quite the kind of dead - that everybody thought, and El opening the Gate got her brought back as a specimen for experimentation, and something something something the US government is trying to weaponise vampirism and something something) but it never congealed into an actual plot so it's unlikely to ever materialise.
(I will tell you, because I'm not planning to write it anymore, that I had an idea for a scene where Steve, in thrall to the military's vampiric supersoldier, is forced to lure Nancy and Jonathan into a trap, and then successfully rules-lawyers his instructions into letting him cut himself so that his blood can distract the less-experienced vamp and Nancy and Jonathan can tear the bitch apart. Which would have left Steve mentally fine but physically more durable and slower to age. Felt it was a rather clever way to thread that needle. No I didn't steal this wholesale from Stephenie Meyer's Eclipse shut up.)

Watched the third episode of LEGO DreamZzz: LOVE IT!
I discovered why I don't pace myself with shows anymore... because I get crazy with headcanons 😅 I got an idea for a fanfiction, What ifs with Mateo turning full nightmare from that one time, and the ships... I'M ALREADY AT SHIPS AND IT'S BEEN ONLY THREE EPISODES 😵😵
Why am I surprised I worked with less before
YOU GOT ME ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS (Logan and Mateo), FRIENDS-TO-LOVERS (Cooper and Mateo) AND LONE WOLF X AWKWARD KID (Zoey and Mateo) ON A SILVER PLATTER I'M SORRY OKAY?? 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
Anyway no one cares about my delusions about ships, so back to the episode!
DREAM CHASED
I said it before, I'll say it again: THE DESIGNS ARE EXCEPTIONAL! Like look at this Nightmare King and his henchman! Love it, absolutely love it! 😍
Another troupe I like? TRIALS
It's silly and sometimes unnecessary, but there's something I love about seeing how the characters confront a challenge
Okay Logan is still a bit annoying, but it seems like he's mostly trying to look tough and he's not bothering Mateo directly... for now 😅 I feel like he should have another change of heart moment though
All hail Vincent for voicing another character I'm loving ❤️❤️❤️
THAT SAND FORGE MANIFESTING THROUGH LIKE LOOK AT THAT 😍 It is sand so yeah that's coherent, I like how simple yet intriguing it is
So the lil blondie is obviously the big important man right?
Ooohhh, so Cooper is into cars? Interesting!
Awww Mateo looks so insecure about the whole situation, come on baby you can do it! YOU GOT THIS! (aaaand I've now officially adopted Mateo as my child, it was inevitable from the beginning)
I FLIPPING LOVE IZZIE!!! Look at that anime girl go 😂😂 Also her theme song? Kinda banging honestly
Why was Mateo looking at the ladder?
Aaaaaand they all failed. Eh, next time
Is the burrito stand the home of the local wise person? This lady is the new Wu?
Also I just noticed that Mr. Oz got Brian Drummond as VA, just like Merlok in Nexo Knights. He's got a knack for voicing the master of the situation 😂
POOR MATEO MY GOSH 😭 Glad to see Logan wasn't joining that other guy insulting him, but wow are there many other kids talking like that to him? Is that why he's not very confident? ANOTHER FANFICTION IDEA DANG IT
Coop seems to get along with others, maybe he never had these problems
Did Mateo and Cooper fight before because Coop found Logan a cool and kinda good guy, but Mateo didn't like him (no blame given the mocking) and thought he was just like the other kids making fun of him?
... ANGST TRAIN EVERYONE I WILL WRITE FICS ONCE I'M FINISHED WITH THIS
What was Mat writing on that towel?
Heeeeyyy, look at Logan solving the riddle! I... would have never bet on him being the one to get it, I thought for sure Mateo was gonna be the one 😅
Yep the blondie is the boss
WHOA WHAT'S WITH THAT VOICE MAN 🤯😂😂😂 I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING
Ah, wow, so if they don't pass they go back being random people? How can you blame them for being reluctant, Mateo literally made a new friend thanks to this world and managed to reconcile with Cooper!
AND NO I WOULD NEVER RISK Z-BLOB EITHER THE SLIME SHALL NOT DIE 😭😭😭 (yes I adopted him too but to be honest Mateo and Z-Blob are a package deal)
Dang poor Nova girl, so many nightmares she's dissociating 😥 Yeah the effects of lack of sleep are no joke
Nuuuuu the drawing of Z-Blob falling, Mat why are you doing this to me 😭
...
Okay this one hits close to home 😅😅
I was the introverted one during school, I barely talked to my classmates, and I struggled making new friends. Most of all, I had ideas I thought were good but didn't express them out of fear. Then, if someone had the same idea, I felt regret
I'm not sure if this was supposed to be this impactful, but it is to me, and especially in middle and high school your insecurities are put to the test
I'm much more confident now, and I hope to see Mateo growing to do the same 😊
... OKAY TOO SERIOUS BACK TO SILLY 🤪
THANK YOU IZZIE FOR CAUSING MAYHAM AND GOING ON A DANGEROUS ADVENTURE TO SAVE YOUR FRIEND 💪
I don't know why but Mateo going "wasn't that a ship?" got me cracking 😂
MATEO IDEA TIME 🤩🤩
They see me rollin, they hatin~
Awww look at Cooper being impressed by his buddy! And honestly he's kinda right, they got on a rescue mission twice so far and they're two for two! Look at them go!
Yeeee, confidence boost!!!!
OMG STOP COOP CALLED HIM TEO, NICKNAMES ARE A HUGE WEAKNESS OF MINE AAAAAAAAA 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Between Logan's Mattie and Cooper's Teo, I got shippy material for myself 😎
Although I'm still very curious about when Zoey will join or when will they meet her, she seemed to have some backstory and I wanna see how she interacts
I WANNA SEE THE FORGE TRIAL AAAA I'M SO INTO THIS SHOW!!!! 🥰🥰🥰

Demon Slayer Season 3 Review
Hey everyone how's it going? Dan here and today I'll be reviewing Demon Slayer season 3!
Spoiler Warning (if you wanna watch it, just do the free trial for two weeks on Crunchyroll)
Now I've been looking forward to this season after season 2 which I thought was a near masterpiece thanks to the animation and the story as well as the characters. Season 3 has been hyped up for the last year and people have been frothing at the mouth (myself included honestly) waiting for this to drop. Though I will say I'm sure some people weren't happy it was exclusive to Crunchyroll only whereas Season 2 was on Hulu and Crunchyroll. Either way, people were ready to watch season 3 and I will say it's great but I think season 2 was slightly better.
I love Tanjiros journey and how he's slowly becoming a stronger swordsman and demon slayer and how we got more background into his ancestors and how they knew Yoriichi as well as more background into the dance that was passed down to them. I also liked that we finally got Muzans backstory animated and how he became a demon. If you've read the manga you already know how it goes but even so I always enjoy when we get these scenes in the pages animated since I love the medium. Speaking of animation, I also want to point out how they used 3D animation as well and I'll admit it, it looks well done. Doesn't clash badly with the 2D style and it blends well enough to be a pleasant visual experience.
Now the demon slayer cast this season was interesting. Instead of the main cast which consist of Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke, we get two Hashira's and someone from Tanjiros class Genya. Tanjiro and Nezuko are still the main protagonists and I did enjoy the Hashira's in this season. Mitsuri and Muichiro had great backstories but the one I think I liked most was Genyas backstory (though Muichiro was a close second) and explains why he is the way he is and why his brother Sanemi is the way he is as well. The upper moon demons this season were pretty insane. I thought the last seasons Upper moon was insane and to be honest, upper moon 6 was definitely better than the upper moon 5 demon. Upper moon 4 however, that was a complete unit themselves. Its a shame Muichiro spent almost all his fighting on Upper moon 5 who I thought was a bit underwhelming compared to upper moon 4 and definitely compared to upper moon 6. Though I will say the backstories for the Upper demons were near nonexistent. Upper moon 5 didn't get one and Upper moon 4 got a little bit of backstory but compared to last seasons Upper moon, it's not as significant but still decent.
Now my main complaint here is the absence of Zenitsu and Inosuke. Inosuke is my favorite character of the demon slayer cast while Zenitsu is my least favorite. Even with that as the case, I still feel they should have been in the swordsmith village arc. To me, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke are a package deal. I enjoy seeing them train, go on adventures and battling demons together. They only appeared in the first episode and that's it, they made a little post credit cameo but that doesn't count in the main story. I'm sure they'll have a huge part in the next season but I felt it was the same without these two fighting along side Tanjiro and Nezuko continuing to get stronger as they battle upper ranked demons.
Overall I enjoyed season 3 and the ending to it. Despite my nitpicks here and there, this is still a great anime and a great season. Now I'm excited to see how things go in Season 4 with Muzan plotting to take Nezuko to complete his goal of being the ultimate lifeform. I hear the Infinity Castle Arc will be the best Arc in the entire series and with what's suppose to go down, I am once again ready for it!
Rating this I will give it:
8.5/10
I like it just like I like the other seasons, each one has its strengths and weaknesses but overall its still a great anime series and I highly recommend watching season 3 as well as the other seasons and movies of Demon Slayer.
That's all I got for today.
See ya!

Tag Game - OC Edition
Tagged by both @gaeasun and @jekyllnahyena , thank you kindly I am always looking for an excuse to plague people with my brain blorbos.
Favourite OC:
That would be my cantankerous clone medic, Sponge. It's a little ironic really because Sponge started off as a throwaway character with no real personality, but I have steadily worked on them to the point where they've become fairly beloved to me.
They're a multifaceted character with a lot of personal struggles and traumas to sort through, have a fairly unique story-line compared to my other clones, and on top of all that they wear a grouchy mask to cover up the fact they're scared most of the time.
Plus they have a very loyal and loving pet companion that helps them come out of their shell when they most need it.
Newest OC:
That would be Molly and Fanta (they're a package deal), who are actually Sponge's youngest daughter and one of Beau's puppies.
Molly is actually a product of me pondering about one very specific part of Sponge's story, and how it had impacted them their whole life. I figured that after tormenting them so much, I should give them the opportunity to have the one thing that had been stolen from them that they wanted more above all else.
The result is a human-clawdite hybrid girl and her pet barghest-charhound cross (who is a product of @lost-on-kamino's shenanigans actually). Molly is the best of both Sponge and Hugo, and honestly that is one of the biggest rewards I could ever give my grouch of a medic.
Oldest OC:
Uh...Well there is one character that I've actually been working on pulling into the SW fandom. Rogue knows him well.
Doctor Clyde Jr. Cormburskan has seen many iterations over the years, but he's always the same in essence: Fatherly, gluttonous, somewhat insane, a good friend.
Usually he's human but for the SW universe I think he'd fit a Ruurian better.
Meanest OC:
Conch, without a doubt.
He's a mean-spirited, petty, and rather shallow individual. Ever since Sponge was forcefully pulled out of scuba training and put into the medical program, Conch has made it his mission to bash his youngest batchmate for any given reason. This only got worse when Jelly left to join the 501st with them, and escalated into pure hostility when he died.
Arrogant, self-serving, and honestly uncaring of anyone but himself, Conch is an entitled and unusually cruel clone that has no trouble putting others down just to make himself feel better. He also misgenders Sponge a lot on purpose just to make them squirm in discomfort.
Softest OC:
Lys! He may be somewhat intimidating with all his sharp teeth, claws, horns, and sheer size, but honestly there is no softest person in the galaxy than Lyssandr Teklar.
It's this soft and gentle nature that actually got Olly to not only trust him fairly quickly, but that also got him to feel safe enough around Lys to be openly vulnerable rather than constantly on his guard.
Most Aloof/Stand-offish OC:
Oof, it's a tie between Bully, Kera and Harm. Each for different reasons too.
Bully was always a bit difficult in behavior because the Trainer he was taught by encouraged active competition and fighting between the cadets. And then having been under Krell's command made his already unstable temper much worse.
Kera felt like she had her future stolen from her because no Jedi Master picked her to be their padawan, which forced her to eventually become a part of the Jedi AgriCorps (a position she considered beneath her talents as a saber duelist). Order 66 turned out to be the big break she needed to actually have some control and power.
And Harm is an HK-Droid with a lot of blood on her hands and a lot more grudges she wishes she could act upon. Being in a band helps turn her violent urges and anger issues into something constructive, but there's no denying that she loves to pick fights for no particular reason other than she's in a bad mood.
Dumbest OC:
Look, I'll be honest Lich isn't really all that dumb. He can learn fairly quickly if the subject matter interests him or has any real value for him to absorb the information. He's just a bit of a himbo most days... A very clumsy trouble-magnet of a himbo...
He has done some PRETTY dumb things tho, like shove a fork into an electric socket out of curiosity of whether or not that was just a silly natborn myth. Not only did he blow a fuse, he also got projected 5 feet in the air and was in medbay for three days.
I suppose his dumbness is more of a lack of impulse control...
Smartest OC:
Zed Kwinde is a very intelligent man, you just don't see it very often because he likes being an insufferable bitch 24/7. Mae suffers no fools but she suffers a genius with a very twisted sense of humor.
Horniest OC:
Pretty Boy is a bit of a slut, but his brothers love him all the same.
OC I'd Bang:
These are my freaking kids and also pieces of myself, no thank you.
OC I'd be Besties with IRL:
Erin!!!
We'd spend hours talking about food and maybe she'd be able to teach me how to take it easy. I think we could all use an Erin in our lives honestly...

I finally got around to watching Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and it’s one of the incredibly rare cases where I liked the second movie so, so, so much more than the first one!
Usually, with movie sequels, it’s either a steady decline with every sequel, or they’re a package deal kind of “gotta watch them all together, they’re one coherent story that builds up”, but honestly? I really didn’t vibe with the first.
I liked Puss, I liked Kitty, but I never liked the egg, not the design (terrifying), not his backstory, or anything, really, and the way the whole movie hinged around the egg just did not work for me at all. I think I only rewatched the movie maybe once or twice since it released years ago.
But I will definitely be revisiting this movie a lot! I loved it. It just clicked really well, the newly introduced characters worked for me - all of them. I thought the puppy would be annoying, based on the trailer, because the trailer cut badly, quite honestly, while in the movie, in context, he was just the sweetest little thing. Even Goldilocks and the three bears were actually great and I found myself rooting for them. Death fucked hard.
And the animation was... so cool? It looked so pretty.
I mean, yeah, the story was just perhaps a little weak in that “Puss needs to find a Wish to save his life because Death wants to kill him for LITERALLY NO REASON AT FUCKING ALL he still HAS A LIFE LEFT but Death is just pissed at him I guess for his arrogance so Death defies his own purpose by trying to become an actual murderer”, but I cut it slack for how it was resolved, I loved Kitty’s stunned reaction at realizing that no Puss was being very literal at being hunted by Death and not figurative, and I did enjoy seeing them team up with the Bears and Goldie and having Goldie realize that she has a family.
Don’t know what to think about that ending though. Because I don’t know what I think about the promise of more Shrek, since that story felt very much... finished, closed, I don’t really know what else there is left to tell by revisiting Shrek and Fiona, but we’ll see, I guess.
On the overall, I was very positively surprised by this movie, it had more heart than I’m used to by sequels and more engaging new characters. It made me like the puppy.

holy goddamn 😳🫢 I knew going in that this was gonna be dark smut, but there was really something about that gut punch that Reader had this done to her by someone that she considered a good friend that just made the betrayal of her realizing she was getting drugged hurt that much more 🥺
And also the way that the tension was building up with that opening scene because after reading the warnings like we know what we're in for and then Steve's so sweet in the beginning just seeming to be wanting to take care of his friend and making her dinner, and just doting on her? Like you built that tension up so well and my jaw was on the ground and it didn't leave until the end ever since she woke up and they were both naked already 😳
Then there was the way that there was this feeling like he was simultaneously prepared to do something like this to her already to the point that he already had the sedative and the bindings and the plug (sidenote just holy fuck THE PLUG?! my jaw unhinged like a damn snake the way it dropped), but this was also very much a spur of the moment decision because it felt like even though this was something that's been on his mind for a while, he hadn't actually come to the decision that he'd be going through with it that night until she mentioned she was seeing someone and suddenly his mind was racing trying to think of a timetable before he would lose Reader eventually and he just decided "Ahh fuck it I guess I'm going for the HYDRA serum"
There's really just something about Steve that was packaged so clean cut and respectful that it gives him so much more potential for darkness and seeing that darkness realized in a story like this delivers such a well-executed gut punch that makes him so compelling as a character that I would fully read a series with this Rogers 🫢 And the conflicting feeling reading through the smut thinking "goddamn this scenario would've been hot if it was consensual" honestly sealed the deal for me that this was such a good dark 'romance' 👏👏
@lokischambermaid @alexakeyloveloki @simplyholl not sure if y'all are into dark fics but Imma tag my fellow Steve whore besties just in case 💖

Steve’s invitation over to his place wasn’t unusual and was, in fact, greatly welcomed. It had been a hell of a long week and you were dying to talk about it with someone. So you happily jumped on your bike and travelled as fast as you could to his home just outside of Manhattan.
The blond was waiting at his front door for you to arrive with a huge smile on his face. “Rogers you are a life-saver!” You called out as you parked your crumbling bike at the side of his house.
Steve shrugged and accepted the warm hug you offered. “Just doing my duty ma’am.” He planted a kiss on your temple as he ushered you into the warmth of his home.
You sighed in relief as the smell of Steve’s famous beef stew washed over you, chasing away the autumn chill. A shiver rolled up your spine, shaking off the cold that had settled into your limbs on the bike ride over. “Are you sure I didn’t need to bring anything? I always feel bad when I turn up empty handed.” You let Steve take your coat off for you.
He glanced at you from over his broad shoulder as he carefully hung up the worn coat next to his leather jacket. “Your company is all I could ask for doll, you know that.” You rolled your eyes at him as you toed off your converse.
“You say that every time.” He chuckled and then retorted.
“So you really should have learned it by now. I like taking care of you.” He gave your arm an affectionate squeeze before leading you to the dining room where dinner was already set up for you both. An open bottle of your favourite red wine sat next to what must have been bread rolls he baked himself and an antique soup dish you had given him for his birthday.
“Oh Steve this looks amazing!” A faint pink blush appeared on his cheeks before he cleared his throat and pulled out your chair for you.
“It was nothing really.” You melted into the dining chair, happy to finally be sitting after a long day. Steve took his place to your right at the round table, immediately grabbing the not-so-cheap bottle of red and pouring you a generous glass before pouring some for himself. You took it upon yourself to serve you both a healthy amount of stew.
You raised your glass to your best friend who smiled broadly and brought his glass to your own, producing a delicate sound. “Thank you Stevie. It’s been too long since we’ve done this.”
“I have missed having you around doll.” He took a sip of the wine as you smiled kindly at him.
Silence settled over you both as you dug in. You were two rolls down and almost done with your bowl of stew when Steve spoke up again. “So what have you been up to? You seemed pretty busy during our last call.”
You swallowed the bite you had just taken and bashfully glanced away. “Not all of us are the retired Captain America, Stevie.” He rolled his eyes and you continued. “Well I got a promotion at work! It’s not a very big one but I’ll have some more responsibilities and a better pay.”
Steve brightened, his blue eyes sparkling with glee. “That’s great doll! You absolutely deserve it. You’ve been working there for way too long without any sort of recognition.”
“Exactly! And well,” You awkwardly cleared your throat, taking another sip of wine to wet your suddenly dry mouth. “I’ve been seeing someone. It’s not serious yet but I’ve had a crush on him for forever so ya know.”
“That’s great! I’m glad that you’re having some fun.” He swallowed the last of the wine in his glass. “More wine?” He offered and you nodded.
“And what about you, have you been getting out there?” Steve settled back into his seat, readjusting his navy polo which had wrinkled slightly with his movement. His cheeks were flushed once more but this time a little darker. “Oooo has someone captured little Stevie’s heart?” You teased, propping your chin up on your hand.
He scoffed at you. “I’ve had the same crush for 5 years now, doll, things never change.”
“Really? And you still haven’t made a move on her?” He breathed out heavily through his nose, shaking his head.
“You know, I’m not really that guy. And I like the way things are now.” He smiled and then reached to grab the paddle but only succeeded in knocking his spoon from his own bowl. “Shit.” He hissed but you laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I got it.” You bent over and retrieved the silverware from the hardwood floor, handing it back to your friend as his right hand slipped something into his jean’s pocket. His smile was a little wider now and his eyes held a gleam of something you couldn’t quite recognise.
“Thanks doll.” You waved him off in favour of taking another sip of wine.
“So what else do you have planned for tonight?” You attempted to ask but your voice suddenly sounded slurred. You cleared your throat to try again but this time no sound game out. Your head felt like it was made of lead and the tips of your fingers had gone numb. “Steve.” You managed to stammer out.
“Wow, I didn’t think it would work that fast.” He mused almost to himself as he held a small, half-empty vial of clear liquid up to the light. “Well, it was made by Hydra so I shouldn’t be so surprised.” He chuckled lowly then looked at you.
“Oh doll, it’s ok. Don’t try to fight it, just close your eyes. It’ll be easier that way.” You tried to stay awake but you were just so tired. As your eyes fluttered shut, the last thing you saw was Steve as he took you into his strong arms and laid a kiss on your head. “Sweet dreams doll.”
——————
It was the heat that woke you up. An unbearable warmth that seemed to crawl over your skin and seep into the deepest parts of yourself. You groaned and tried to stretch away from whatever was causing such great discomfort but you found that you could barely move your limbs more than an inch in any direction.
“I wouldn’t move too much, it’s only going to make the knots tighter.” That was Steve’s voice but everything was pitch black. “Oh sorry doll, let me fix that for you.” A silky fabric brushed across your face as it was pulled away from your eyes and suddenly, you could see.
You were in Steve’s bedroom, that much you could tell. But the curtains were drawn and the only light came from several lit candles that were scattered about the room, distorting your sense of time. You tried to open your mouth to ask what was going on but you couldn’t speak. Another strip of fabric was stuffed between your lips, keeping them only slightly ajar and allowing no sound to escape. “I hope you don’t mind but I would rather not have you screaming and ruining all this.”
Steve stood at the foot of the bed, completely naked. You squeaked at the sight and another wave of heat rushed over you. He just laughed. “Don’t be shy doll, I couldn’t let you be the only one that’s naked.” Your body seized in fear as you finally looked down.
He was right, you were naked as well but unlike the super soldier in front of you, you were bound down. A rope around both your ankles had your plump legs spread wide, exposing your core to him as your wrists were tied above your head. There was a pillow beneath your wide hips, leaving your lower half propped up while your shoulders pushed into the mattress.
You suddenly thrashed, the reality of the situation dawning on you. But it did you no good, instead the ropes became tighter, quickly cutting off the circulation to your hands and feet. Steve clicked his tongue like a disappointed parent would and grabbed your ankles. “I told you not to struggle, doll, and now look at what you’ve done. See this is what happens when you don’t listen to me.”
He gently pulled the knot on your left ankle back, loosening it just enough for the blood flow to return. He repeated the process with the other side then crawled onto the bed. Your eyes widened with terror as he planted himself on his knees right between your legs and leaned over your soft body to grab at your wrists. From this close, you could see how the dark hair along his chest trailed all the way down past his prominent abs, leading to a thick patch at the base of the largest cock you had ever seen.
Steve tutted and yanked at the cord and the feeling returned to your hands once more. “There you go, doll. Now I need you to stay perfectly still or else.” He said, laying a gentle kiss to the tip of your nose. He sat back on his heels, his gaze firmly fixed on you.
It was like he couldn’t help himself. The tips of his fingers brushed against every inch of skin that he could touch, marvelling at how utterly soft and warm you were. You groaned through the gag. Each time he touched you, it sent an electric shock through your system that only made your body burn even brighter. “Oh doll, you’re so sensitive aren’t you. Don’t worry I’ll make it all better.”
Huge hands cupped your breasts, his thumbs immediately touching your pebbled nipples. “Perfect. Absolutely perfect.” Steve dipped down and kissed each one before giving a cheeky lick at your sternum. “They’ll be even more perfect when they’re nice and swollen with milk for our baby.” Your mind screamed at your body to move, to fight him but instead, a rush of wetness ran down from your cunt, staining the sheets below you.
“Would you look at that.” He hummed in awe. “You must love that idea too. Well don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you, like I always do.”
Steve readjusted on top of you so his stomach pressed into yours and his face was right above you. You could feel the hard length of his cock come to rest against your cunt. He groaned and rocked his hips forward. “You’re so wet doll. I bet that I could just slide right in.” Your eyes slammed shut but apparently that was the wrong thing to do.
Steve’s hand was suddenly on your jaw and he squeezed. You yelped behind the gag, pain erupting from under his fingertips. “You keep your eyes open. You watch this. You watch me. Do you understand?” He snarled, his grip getting tighter and tighter until you forced yourself to nod, opening your eyes once more.
Immediately, the terrifyingly angry look on his face dissolved back to a kind smile. “That’s my girl. Now you keep looking at me ok. This is a big moment for us, this is the beginning of our new lives. You’ll see. Everything will be perfect.” He kissed your lips over the gag before pulling away with an excited expression.
“Just lay back and let me do all the work, doll. You’ll never have to lift a finger again.” His hand slipped between your bodies, lining the head of his cock with your entrance. “It’s ok, you won’t feel any pain, the medicine I gave you earlier took care of that. It also had the added bonus of counteracting any birth control in your system.” For a brief moment, you seemed to come back into your body, just as he breached you.
You screamed, Steve just moaned. “S-so tight.” His head dropped between his huge shoulders as his fingers curled into the pillow below your head. He was panting with the effort of forcing more of himself into you as you struggled to take him. The stretch was so much that you felt the air get knocked from your lungs but the further he thrust, the lesser the fire burned within you.
Pleasure rippled through your veins like a drug, setting every nerve alight with an ecstasy you had never known. By the time he finally bottomed out, his muscular thighs meeting your plump backside, you were already dangerously close to cumming. Your mind was quickly going hazy, like tv snow settling over your thoughts, your conscious struggling to find any good reason why your best friend shouldn’t be doing this.
“I’m going to start moving now.” He whimpered through clenched teeth. You could only wiggle your hips in response. The first thrust was soft, almost tentative. But when you’re back arched and you mewled behind the gag, that set him off.
Steve punched into you, each thrust almost directly targeting the deepest points of your cunt, rocketing you to an orgasm you did not want. “I’m going to fuck you like this every day until I know you’re pregnant. Keep you tied to this fucking bed as you should be. Because I deserve this, I deserve a loving wife and children. And you’re going to give it to me because you love me.”
The knot in your stomach wound even tighter as he shifted backwards so he could now thrust upwards, directly into your g-spot. “All those dates with other boys, those stupid crushes, even getting a job so far from me. It was all to get my attention to get me to prove myself to you. That I could be worthy of giving you all the children you could ever want.”
You were practically drooling now, your eyes rolled back in your head. “And now I have you. I’m going to fucking breed you and keep you that way. You’ll always be pregnant. Fuck! You’ll look so beautiful with a big round belly, letting me wait on you hand and foot while you grow our little ones.” He throbbed within you as his thrusts started to hitch.
“All you have to do is cum. Just cum doll and we can start our new life together. Cum doll, for me.” And then you shattered. Stars exploded behind your eyes and a stream of wetness escaped your overly full pussy. Steve groaned into your hair as you tightened around him, suckling him in as deep as he could go and he met his own end. One last wave of heat washed over you as he threw his head back and roared his release.
As you both slowly came down from your highs, Steve carefully slipped from you, going slow enough to prevent any of his seed from escaping. “That’s my good girl. Just stay right there.” He leaned over to the bedside table where he grabbed a small blue plug which he quickly slipped between your sore lips. You hissed as it went into you but he just cooed and lovingly rubbed your hip as he set it in place.
“There we go. Now get some rest doll, I’m not stopping until I know you’re pregnant.” And despite the panic that was quickly rushing back into your mind, exhaustion quickly overpowered you, forcing your eyes closed once more.
Steve smiled as he watched you fall asleep. He kissed your forehead and rechecked your bindings before he walked back out into the kitchen, only glancing at the shattered remains of your phone. That boy you had been seeing had called one too many times for his patience to manage but he would rein in his temper in time for the start of your family.
The vial still sitting on the dining room table only had one more dose left but he doubted you needed anymore than that. You would fight him when you awoke once more but Steve could keep you down for a couple months, you should mellow out by then. Of course, the baby would help.

A Review of The Ssum (from the perspective of an MM fan)
Ok, so the first thing I would like to say is:
Please be considerate toward Ssum; it’s an entirely different game from MM, and despite there being similarities, SSum is NOT Mystic!! (but you all know that, surely ^^)
However, I will be comparing things in my rant...because I am one of those Mystic Messenger Fans ;-;
---------------
(Also I see some of you all asking Cheritz for more MM content...I get it, I want some more too but...we all have heard that Cheritz has (supposedly) said that updates for content will be sparse or MUCH less frequent
edit:
(however I have heard from someone that they said after Ray's AE, they were planning on stopping updating in general other than new start screen CGs, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW, I'M PATIENTLY WAITING FOR A VANDY ROUTE IDC)
---------------
So first things first: Teo.
I’ve already seen people say this, but he’s sort of...bland? In fact, he actually seems like a mild mixture of Zen, 707, and Yoosung. He’s an aspiring film director who likes to game in his spare time, and is helping test developing AIs. After growing up with Mystic, it’s strange to see such a normal character!
---------------
Second!
The typing speed is extremely slow, and you can’t speed it up.
The only way to speed it up (from what I’ve seen) is to pay $9.99 for fast typing speed. That’s...a lot more than Max Speed in MM.
---------------
Third!
Here’s some comments I found in Ssum already, lol:
"mystic messenger >>>>>"
"give me 200 days of content of jumin han instead"
"i am confused lol"
"i really miss yoosung"
"i don't understand this HEEELLLLPPP"
"this game is so confusing lol"
Aside from the MM comments, I see a LOT of people being super baffled about the interface of Ssum. There are a ton of features that MM never had, and for former and present MM fans, it’s very new and confusing.
There’s also the fact that the purchases aren’t made to be a one time purchase. In fact, the packages are SUBSCRIPTIONS. Meaning you have to pay MONTHLY. Some people just cannot afford a subscription (myself included).
This, along with the fact that everything seems overpriced, is making MM fans a bit irritated that they can’t fully enjoy this new game without having to spend money.
---------------
Fourth!
Here’s some of my personal opinions on the game!
The interface is really nice! It’s smooth, it’s clean, it’s modern and new :)
The voice acting is really cute and high quality, and I appreciate that.
However, the way that Teo talks with you in the chatrooms and over the phone is a bit strange. It’s a bit sudden, and feels sort of rushed.
I mean, it’s only two chats in and he’s talking about how he feels flushed talking to you!
I also understand the idea of talking to only one person to get to know them, but it is honestly strange to not have a wider option of characters. (Is Cheritz planning on adding more characters? I genuinely do not know)
Also, a little detail, but you can’t pause the phone calls. I understand that you’re simulating a real phone call but what if I’m busy? ;-;
For MM fans, it's definitely not going to overtake Mystic.
It doesn’t have the same “charm”, and I feel like MM fans are just going to hold onto Ssum simply because it’s a Cheritz game.
---------------
We do need to keep in mind that Cheritz has spent 4 years creating this game. That’s very commendable (...despite the fact they kept telling people they’d release it, ...only to push it back another few months)
Still, I do know mystic fans want Mystic content to continue rather than have to deal with an entirely new and different game.
MM attachment shouldn’t be carried over as irritation for Ssum. BUT, that irritation is understandable considering MM is what we’ve lived off from Cheritz for a solid 6 years.
---------------
My closing thought is that I genuinely believe that people who have never played Mystic will enjoy Ssum! Having a clear slate and not having gotten attached to the former game will definitely allow for hardcore Ssum fans to crop up.
Unfortunately, I know that I’ll always be a die-hard MM fan.
Thanks for reading!!

Kokichi x ultimate suicide Shes been through insane deaths but somehow comes back to life
I swear, the prompts you guys give me are the best I've ever seen
Kokichi Oma x Ultimate Suicide Reader
Honestly, your talent sounds like a lot of fun-
And you'd best believe that a good chunk of the "insane deaths" you've been through were Monokuma's executions
The first time, he just executed you for no reason, to see how your talent worked
No one thought anything of it at first, until you popped up again the next day
You need 24 hours to respawn, that's part of the package deal
Many of the others were skeptical, connecting your sudden reappearance with the supernatural, or just confused
But the most intrigued out of everyone was Kokichi
How can someone go through so much and still manage to come out alive??
You were literally able to kill yourself. For fun. With no repercussions at all
Did your past deaths even hurt??
So he approached you with the energy of a small child, asking you so many questions about your talent
"What's it like??"
"What was your last death? Did it hurt?"
"When did you discover your talent?"
He had a lot of questions and you were there to answer
At one point, he tried to jump off the roof to see if he could do it too
He didn't, of course, and you stopped him
Partly disappointed that he didn't have the talent, but also touched that you cared enough to stop him from jumping
Eventually he asked you out and you said yes
Loves seeing Monokuma's irritation as he fails to execute you every single time
You can literally kill as many people as you want and get away with no punishment
Until Monokuma made a rule forbidding you from killing and ruined all your fun
Kokichi is a little jealous of your talent, but he has fun with you, and that's enough for him
Now I'm wondering if the Ultimate Suicide will become their own character, like the Ultimate Cuteness
