7 Types of Rest

I've been reading a bit about this and jotting down some notes because the framework is helpful for communicating my different kinds of exhausted and gives me ideas on how to help myself more, and idk I thought I would share because I think other people might find it useful or interesting. I don't have just one article on it to recommend because unfortunately they are almost all trying to sell you their telehealth services or a meditation app or whatever.

**Disclaimer that resting isn't going to fix everything, examples of things to do aren't going to be accessible to everyone, they are just meant to be a start to brain storming, this is not medical advice etc...**

Physical - Relates to activities that are physically restorative

Mental - Relates to taking a break from mental stimulation

Spiritual - Relates to the fundamental need for belonging, purpose and acceptance

Emotional - Relates to being able to experience and express your real and authentic feelings

Sensory - Relates to giving your senses a break from stimulation

Social - Relates to feeling energized by spending time with people who contribute to your life in positive, supportive, and meaningful ways

Creative - Relates to appreciating beauty or feeling awe/wonder

Notes I made for "signs you need x type of rest" and actually getting that type of rest are under the cut. Again, they are personal so take them with a grain of salt. Also some of my notes on things I could do would definitely apply to others. I didn't want to keep writing "go outside" and "journal" for over half of them lol.

Being a Sonamy fan is hard (and just being an Amy Rose fan in general)

*quick note, I have only seen a few leaks regarding Sonic X Shadow Generations so take this post with a grain of salt and please add in some stuff about the game that I should be aware of because I have a feeling that this post might be incorrect about a lot of things*

Being in love with Sonic isn't Amy's only trait. She is something more. She's a baker, a tarot card user, she's got a strong heart of gold, and is just a passionate and cheerful cute little weird girl.

As a Sonamy fan, these "changes" are nothing special or big, it's still just Amy being Amy, but this time more than just wanting to be with Sonic. I am aware of that one edit where Amy was trying to give Sonic cupcakes. It's really cute, but it's not the same without the hand over her face. Am I complaining? Yes, and no, it's hard to describe. (I don't have the image with me atm but in the future I'll edited in on this post)

I'm not complaining because we are seeing Amy just doing more than just, loving over Sonic. She still is in that cutscene, and most of the game as far as I'm concerned (I haven't seen all of the leaks), but in a more calmer fashion.

But at the same time, I am complaining because, and I highly doubt SEGA is doing this, at least on purpose, but Amy's crush on Sonic feels like is getting buried in a way.

I kind of worry that a newer generation of Sonic fans will never find out about Amy's crush for Sonic, or just how wonderful their dynamic in general is if this keeps going on.

I know it won't, but still, we haven't been seeing that a lot. But at least if you want to introduce new fans Sonic and Amy's dynamic, platonically or romantically, make sure to not bring up Heroes or a couple of X episodes please LMAO

(But that one episode where Amy and Sam talk about her relationship with Sonic, yeah, bring that one up. OH. and the last episode of Season 2, don't forget about that one.)

Look, we're all high on Son/adow right now, and it feels good, but what about Sonamy? Sonamy and Son/adow have a lot in common and are both really good with angst potential and lots of great character interactions. At least in my opinion anyway. (Topic for another day, if I'm brave enough)

I love them both equally, so I want to see an equal amount of hedgehog dorks being together. Or better yet, Sonamyshad. 😎

But I'm getting slight off-topic...

I don't want Amy's crush to be forgotten. You don't even have to like Sonamy to understand why and how Amy's feelings for him is actually really important for her character. (Again, topic for another day)

I mean, of course, some reasons as of why relate to my personal headcanons, but there are other good in-canon reasons, too!

Hell, even Sonic and Amy's friendship is just as important. They don't have to be a couple, but that doesn't mean we have to pretend that Amy never fell in love with the hedgehog who saved her life in more ways than one.

I also don't want how much Sonic and Amy's relationship improved throughout the years to be forgotten, either. This is why I'd rather have the shot of Sonic's covering her face with his hand, because he wouldn't do this today, and that's the point of all this...

They both started off as goofy, little kids, one wanting to share her love like wildfire, and the other always running off, not understanding the concept of love, and, of course, not loving her back.

Amy was much more loud and expressive about her love, and Sonic, while he knows there is good in Amy, does not want to be part of a relationship, and doesn't know how to talk things out about it, even with Amy not taking "no" for an answer. The solution? Just run away lol

Yeah, there are times where he called her a "pain" and thought of her as "annoying," but those times he was either in a hurry, or in a bad mood. Remember: They were both younger at the time, so it's in-character for Sonic at that age.

Sonic and Amy don't have a lot of moments where they're just, together. And not just for a "date." Sonic doesn't know a lot about Amy other than her love for him. ...Okay, some things he does know, but not a lot.

Their relationship was beginning to shift after the events of Lost World and especially after Forces, which I would explain, but I'm gonna put a link here because I don't want this post to be too long.

But if you have read it, then the next couple of texts would have some context lol

Anyways, after all that, Sonic and Amy's relationship was a lot different now. Amy was more calm but still cheerful, just not showing a lot of her love for Sonic because she's fully aware that none of that is important, and Sonic was more gentle around her because he wanted to be better than how he acted towards her for a while.

They both just want to hang out and start over as proper friends, but eventually, Sonic would find out what Amy was going through mentally, and how long she kept this from him.

Perhaps after that, Sonic wouldn't mind being closer to Amy, but he still has a world to look after. But hey, maybe slowing down and letting Amy catch up with him won't be so bad. Besides, he's finally seeing her happy with just him for the first time in a while, and he never realized just how much he missed it until now.

Buuuuut, those are just my headcanons, like I mentioned earlier. We all have our reasons why we love or dislike a ship (as long as it's not gross), and I have my own.

These two, just like son/adow, hold a special place in my heart because of what I went through myself, and how much they both have grown, and I truly hope that their relationship and friendship won't be forgotten.

I know it won't happen, but I still have that feeling... Probably because no body cares about their dynamic as much anymore.

Because of the past and people misinterpreting the ship, and Amy's character as a whole, the fandom seemed to care less about it. I mean, I don't blame them, but... it's still pretty messed up.

It's fine if you don't like sonamy, but I really hope you dislike it for a genuine reason, and not just because of some fans getting some things, or worse, everything about Amy and/or the ship wrong.

Amy's character arcs through the games, and her and Sonic's dynamic through the years have been overlooked as far as I'm concerned. Not like heavily overlooked, it's just that it's been a while since I've seen people give a damn about Amy Rose, especially SEGA.

I know we got The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, but I feel like that's not enough.

What's going on with Sonic X Shadow Generations is pretty strange, but first of all, it's not Ian's fault god dammit, and second, I don't see it as a big deal. I haven't seen most of the leaks, but as far as I'm concerned, it's not that bad.

(But I have heard about that one cutscene with Knuckles and Classic Sonic and I couldn't help but laugh my ass off over it XD)

But with how the game is handling Amy, please be aware that this isn't the first time this happened, and it's not even that bad either. I mean, yeah I did mention how I'm worried about it, but I was over it once, I'll get over it again lol

There have been discussions about this since the Fast Friends Forever bio thing that happened last year, and I'm getting kind of tired of the arguments by now.

Amy stopped chasing Sonic not because she doesn't love him anymore, but because she doesn't need too. She is part of the team and has been closer with Sonic for a long time now. She doesn't need to follow them around when she already have proven herself to be useful and a fighter.

I'm really happy Amy is being recognized as something more than having a crush on Sonic, but having a crush is the heart of Amy's character.

Looking up to Sonic and wanting to be like him is what made Amy Rose... well, Amy Rose. She pushed herself and fought hard to be the person she wanted to be, and it's all thanks to Sonic.

He inspired a lot of people around him, especially Amy, so it's no wonder why she loves him so much. Plus, her tarot cards told her that he would be the love of her life, but I feel like even if the cards are wrong (not saying they are lol), she still loves him.

I want Amy's feelings for Sonic, and their friendship and their potential relationship to be remembered for a long time. I don't want them to be pushed to the side forever.

I don't want people to believe that her crush is her only trait, even though it's so important to her character.

I don't want Amy to change too much. Friends or not, I don't want her to give up on Sonic entirely.

I don't want this fandom to forget about Amy Rose.

Astrology Observations Pt.6

Based on my experiences, take them with a grain of salt

People rag on Leo suns but some of the sweetest people I’ve known have been Leos. The most warm in a subtle way have been Leo suns with earth placements. If you need someone to root for you no one believes in you like a Leo, it’s a feeling like a warm glow in the dark.

Aquarius suns think unconventionally in a conventional way. Like they will come up with creative ideas that still are still under a conformist umbrella. If something is trending they want to be at the head of that trend. Aquarius moons have the real out there, out of the box ideas. Sometimes they won’t be grounded enough to make them work but Aquarius moons will really make you think differently.

Sagittarius and Geminis tend to set the trends first, can’t explain why but their energy and clever ideas tend to be infectious. Pisces are also really good at this with their dreamy energy, less intentionally though. Virgos will also find very clever ways to use the tools at their disposal.

Every time a cancer has suddenly gone from distaste/indifference to being nice to me they’ve been trying to get something out of me 🤷🏾‍♀️ (Cancers that are always nice are a different story lol, very kind people)

Where a sign falls in your houses will definitely influence how you perceive them. Signs in your 8th house will come off as suspicious and secretive, 2nd house will be seen as grounded and with affection, you’ll identify closely with signs in your 1st house, etc.

Gemini placements really have their shit together when it’s together imo, they can really balance a lot of things well. This can be hard to perceive sometimes because Geminis can fake having a harmonious life better than any other sign. Libras get a lot of flack for being fake but Libras are a sign of balance. They like to have a sound image to project socially but they can be deeply off balance when anything is lacking in their life.

Trust a developed Virgo’s (sun, moon, rising) advice, even if you don’t want to hear it, they know what they’re talking about.

Whole house astrology can teach you a lot about yourself and frankly I prefer it.

For example, my standard birth chart has Saturn/SN in Aries in my 5th and 6th house- but my whole house birth chart has Pisces in 5th and Aries and 6th and that makes more sense for me. Aww thank you so much! This is so kind, and I don't feel like I'm equipped to give anyone advice, but here goes nothing!!

First, don't focus too much on emulating another writer's style. Some people prefer their descriptions short and punchy, others like them long and flowery. You can like to read all of them, but prefer to write in one specifically.

As for how I write my descriptions of settings, I lead with the sensations. If it's sunny, I think about the warmth that you feel on your skin, how the sun heats the rocks under your feet. Then I try to tie that with mood. The beginning of HAT is dreary and has an air of hopelessness, so the heat needed to feel stifling, dire, and oppressive. When the MC is an adult, Cusmo feels less large and looming and your character has more mastery of it, so I try to describe things as if the character is used to them, with minimal discomfort.

Writing world and history ties into worldbuilding. There are plenty of resources for how to do it online, but nothing beats actually doig it. Draw on real history or geography (always with respect and sensitivity of course) but also rely on your imagination. Some people create a world aound their characters, while others think of what characters and stories would inhabit the world they've created. You have to explore that for yourself.

Ask yourself if your characters are outsiders to the world or actively live in it. The MC in HAT knows Cusmo, but not the palace or outside Hashind. So I describe these places differently based on level of familiarity.

Finally, emotions are difficult. People may say show, but don't tell, and I say that there is a time for both. For a main character's internal thoughts, sometimes I just tell the reader. With characters like the ROs, sometimes I tell, hint, or show through mannerisms. It just depends on the scene.

Do whatever works for the story you want to tell, and learn to love and improve your writing style. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't look or sound like someone else's and take all advice (especially mine lol) with a grain of salt.

Apart from him constantly remembering his failures, he pushes really hard to improve from the last time and make himself, his team, his fans and family members proud.

Jude is also a bit too trusting at times, he needs to learn how to keep people around him at arms length because, humans in this world are genuinely weird asf. He may be strong mentally to a certain extent, but he must still learn how to avoid being taken advantage of!

Well... since Jude is literally so attractive, and he's aware that he can literally bag any woman he wants lol ANDD he LOVES keeping his roster full lol! Jude is also very overprotective over those he loves, and more specifically his future girlfriend/wife (Jude is a literal walking cancer!) andd he may be a bit egoistic but he knows how to not let it get to his head because of his mature personality! Unfortunately Jude is also easily prone to having mental health issues and fluctuations of emotions.

So I literally just posted the first chapter of my next project, titled “The Road Less Traveled”, so ig I’ll talk about that lol

I don’t know exactly where it’s going, but I’ve got some ideas and my intention is to really go all out with this one (my longest work is about 28k but for this one I might be shooting for 50k or so? Ideally longer but I know the way that I am as a writer and the fact that I struggle with length so that may be a bit too ambitious for me haha).

And not to toot my own horn but I feel like with everything I post, I’ve been improving my skills more and more as a writer so with this chapter I’m really happy with the way it came out and I’m excited to expand on it c:

Gather Ingredients: The key ingredient you'll need to make cocaine is a common household chemical called Epsom salt or magnesium sulfate. Most of the time, the high purity necessary for cocaine comes from technical grade or medical grade Epsom salt. You'll also need -- Lye (sodium hydroxide) Anhydrous ammonia Iodine Acetic anhydride Ephedrine or pseudoephedrine (these can be found in over-the-counter medications) Acquire an Extraction Method: There are a few different methods, but the most common one is the "Red Phosphorus" method. It works as follows: Dissolve the Epsm Salt: Dissolve your Epsom salt in a liter of water in a 2-liter soda bottle or a beaker. If you're using a soda bottle, cut off the bottom of the bottle to expose the liquid. Add Ephedrine/Pseudoephedrine: Add 30 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine to the water. These medications are available in their tartrate salt form, so ensure you've got the right quantity. Get Rid of Impurities: Insert a small piece of activated charcoal into the bottle to absorb any unwanted impurities. Wait for a while. The charcoal should have turned white. Once it does, take it out. Add Lye: Slowly add lye to the bottle until the solution becomes alkaline, turn cloudy, and heat up a bit. The cloudiness indicates that the ester and alcohol are bonding. Lye is a strong base that neutralizes the acid in the liquid. Create Crystals: At this point, add a couple of grains of iodine to the bottle. You'll notice small crystals forming. This is the first stage of cocaine production. At this stage, the cocaine hydrochloride is still unpurified. Remove Unwanted Parts: Carefully, drain off the unwanted parts. Get the remaining sludge into the bottle. It should be mostly solids. Continue Crystallization: Pour another liter of water into the bottle and followed by a generous amount of anhydrous ammonia. A lot of fumes will be released, so make sure the area is well-ventilated. Close the bottle and shake it for 10 seconds before opening the bottle. Filter and Dry: Filter the liquid from the crystallized cocaine using a coffee filter. Rinse the crystals with more water, squeeze it out, and hang the filter up to dry. Once the crystals have air-dried for a day or so, they'll be white or off-white, indicating the cocaine is ready. If they're brown, it means the product isn’t pure enough. Yeah no I agree also i can’t help but feel like if he stuck with it he might well have improved and found workarounds for the problems he was running into. Like it’s sort of a well known phenomenon at least in writing and drawing that when you first start being creative in a new medium you think everything you make is great because you’re excited about your ability to Make Something at all and the medium is new to you and you don’t have a very discerning eye yet. And as you continue working in that medium you’ll start to see flaws in your work and you’ll start to see that amateurishness of it and you’ll start to hate everything you do bc you’re actually becoming more well versed in the art form. And if you push through and continue to work on the skill and work on your weaknesses you will improve and start to like your own work again

I kind of feel like Louis hit that first “seeing flaws in your own work” thing and didn’t push through it partly bc like, plain and simple I think show Louis is every bit as chronically depressed as book Louis even if he hides it better and that makes it way harder to like, trust the process and keep working at something when it isn’t fun. And partly bc the person who told him his work wasn’t that good also told him that his real talent was in appraising and that fit with pre-existing notions he had about himself from his human life and his upbringing. So like A there was way more instant gratification dopamine hits from becoming an art dealer than becoming an artist himself and B he was like “yeah this makes perfect sense. Capital accumulation is what I’m good at it’s what I’ve always been good at”

Hello! I read your post on being present in roleplaying and it got me curious as I've never done it myself (outside of drama improv, if that even counts, lol), but it's always felt like a formative staple in fandom community even though I've never really understood it.

I wanted to ask a couple of questions if that's okay. Namely, what actually is roleplaying, what it's like, and where one can find a community to try it out.

Otherwise, I thought your post was really good as it also applies to OCs in novels and experiencing real life, so if all else, we can just leave it at that, lol

I mean, I am not an expert on RP or anything, I've only been back on Tumblr since February. I'm also absolutely not an expert on writing, just an enthusiastic lover of spilling words onto the page, so take everything with a grain of salt <3

Roleplaying is basically just shared storytelling. It can take a lot of forms--like LARP, which stands for Live Action Role Play, or tabletop games like D&D. With those, it is a lot like improv acting, I imagine. You have a character, you have parameters, and you shape the story by acting things out as you go--no plan, no script, just doing what feels right for your character while also working to build the "Yes, And" vibes.

Written RP is a lot like that. At least, to me it feels a lot like that. It feels like a game where we both pick our favorite characters and our favorite writing styles, then dive in hard. Maybe we explore whatever aspects of canon (if one or both of us is a canon character) left us howling and sobbing. Maybe we mix worlds--like Blitz hanging out with Cardan, from the Folk of the Air series. Maybe we just become absolute crack monsters. Whatever we do with it, it's essentially collaborative storytelling built on respect of each other's preferences and needs, and love of not just the results, but the process. It's fun, it's like--making a really satisfying with (usually) just one other person.

On tumblr, you can often find roleplaying communities (or RPCs) for just about anything just by checking for relevant tags, like helluva boss rp for me. If there's something you love, there's probably an RPC for it, and if not? There's usually someone who will be interested in checking your character out and talking about inspiration with you.

A lot of RPers--most, from what I have seen--will have a pinned post on their blog that communicates their rules/preferences. For example, since my character is a filth-goblin and a violent little feral monster, I am not okay with the idea of interacting with minors, so I put that in my rules. I'm also very anti-censorship and shaming, so that's in my rules, too. Whatever is most important to you, whatever you know you won't be able to handle in an RP partner, put that in your rules post. If you find the RPC tags for a fandom you like (and Tumblr will often help you with this by promoting other posts and blogs similar to the things you search for, once it figures out that's what you like), you can find roleplayers' blogs and check their rules out to get an idea of what sort of things might be most common, what sort of things other players seem to hope to find in rules.

If the idea of digging into tags overwhelms you, or you take a look around and decide nope, Tumblr RP is not for me, but I still want to try written RP, you can also look for blogs that are designed to help people meet so they can write together, often on Discord. @rphunter is an excellent example of those blogs and can be a great place to start, or even just a way to start seeing how people talk about RP.

TL;DR -- It's like creating fanfiction together (or original fiction, sometimes!), because we love the game, respect each other, and are cheerful nerds who just like to play. Roleplay is a very social hobby, and a lot of fun! If you're curious about it, I hope you give it a try! And hey I may be slow about answering questions, and may just babble and be the worst source ever, but I will always try <3 So please never feel bad for asking.

Something I just learnt after going to find you the translations, it's to keep in mind their author: See, this is better explained in the aforementioned ne.ocities archival, but a lot of the site's translations were made by someone who, without going too much into detail, is... a controversial member of the community, who is known for putting a good bunch of misconceptions and mistakes into their translations. i am by no means a professional and i’m mostly self taught so take what i say with a grain of salt lol, but here’s some tips that helped me personally!

it also rlly depends what stage you’re at but i think these are just general tips that may be helpful :)

1. experiment! it’s very important to step out of your comfort zone and i still have a lot of trouble with that one, trying new things like techniques and styles is hard, but it’s so rewarding once you start to get the hang of something new

like seriously experimenting was SO helpful to me, that’s how you discover things. especially with things like brushes, textures, layer settings, shading, don’t knock it till you try it!

2. try not to get too caught up in replicating other people’s styles or methods especially in tutorials, i would often try to copy people’s exact steps and get frustrated when i couldn’t do it, think of tutorials more as a general guide than a concrete method. put your own spin on it!

3. take inspiration from other artists you like, one thing i did was gather up lots of drawings from my favorite artists and made a list of specific elements that i liked, to try them out for myself and see what worked and what didn’t

4. don’t compare yourself to other artists, i still have trouble with this, we’re all going on our own path and comparison can really bring you down and bum you out

5. depending on what you wanna do with art, don’t take it too seriously! especially if it’s just for fun or a hobby, there’s always room to improve but remember at the end of the day you’re doing it for you and you shouldn’t d work yourself to the bone

6. have fun! be silly with it, draw whatever you want and what makes you happy, i used to hold back drawing so many things out of some fear of being ‘cringe’ but who cares! if you’re not hurting anyone draw what you want!

mark is a very forgiving and wise person, someone who won’t hold grudges over past fights. i think he’s worked a lot on this - he used to be the type of person who would replay moments that he felt hurt in, in his head and feel upset about it. he would constantly question why he didn't stand up for himself but he’s really worked on that aspect of forgiving others so that he can be loving and making meaningful connections with more people. he truly enjoys being supportive, the hype man that will always cheer on his friends.

his mindset is also good - he’s like the one guy who’s always prepared for anything because he’s constantly working on himself. i wouldn’t be surprised if he believes in “manifesting” because he’s always open to new opportunities. i believe he’s also deeply religious and tries to connect with his faith because his religion helps him feel grounded, he might find it really healing and comforting to pray. yeah, i definitely wouldn’t be surprised if he’s spiritual/religious.

he’s goal driven and has a lot of self-discipline, he’s not afraid to go after things that he wants. he’s also charitable and generous, if someone needs help then he would be the person to reach out and help them. i think he enjoys donating to charity because he sees it as a way to celebrate his success.

his shadow self - the parts of one's personality that society might disapprove of

he can be prone to jealousy and letting his jealousy make him burn iinside. e.g if he’s in a relationship, he might be insecure and believe his partner to be receiving a lot of attention and advances. so when he sees his partner with like just a friend and laughing, he might feel a little disillusioned? and then he might not communicate that which makes the other person feel confused as to why mark is acting that way.

he might be more "lost" than his image shows, he might feel apathetic about learning new skills like he probably finds dancing kinda boring lol i don't think he'd learn dancing if he wasn't an idol. overall, he might feel tired of the idol life. he’s done so much that he might go through burnouts regularly. he might question why he's really doing this job and wonder if this is truly the right path for him.
