You're stuck in a 24 hour timeloop, and the only other person who is aware it's a timeloop is a member of SMH. In this scenario, they're someone you see as part of your daily routine often enough that you recognize each other, but you're acquaintances at most. Escaping the time loop will require you to work with them, and you both have a pretty good reason to want to escape. You'll eventually make it out regardless of who you pick, though some might take a little longer.

You can't pick Johnson, but you will encounter him in exactly one loop where he delivers some important information and be left wondering who or what he is even after you've escaped.

Dex’s Smiles

It’s a pretty obvious observation that smiles from Dex are a rare occurrence. 

And the few times he does smile (or at least smirk) it’s usually something sheepish, begrudging… or him relishing the prospect/realization of victory. … Or all or some of the above. As seen here:

However… there are a few moments when he shows a much different side.

Goes without saying that those moments are something to be cherished.

dex pining after openly out nursey, it's a classic we all love it okay BUT!!!!!!!! have we considered the far superior nursey pining after an openly queer dex??? will comes to Samwell after growing up in small town conservative Maine and dealing with homophobia on his Jr hockey teams and he decides he's not gonna hide at college he wants to be the role model he needed as a kid. and he absolutely Thrives!!! he's open and out and Radiant and he makes casual queer jokes with bitty and nursey (who is either closeted or hasn't realized his own identity yet) is just obsessed with him but doesn't understand Why so he just continues sulking and maybe staring a dex a bit too long during practice......

when we get the omgcp tv show we need an accent coordinator. i was just sat here thinking about how vitally important it is that everyone’s accent is perfect. bitty and jack go without saying but lardo’s boston accent. ransom’s canadian accent also. chowder’s laid back cali accent. nursey’s faux chill new york accent? holster’s western new york accent! don’t know what a maine accent sounds like but dex gotta have one. this is very important to me

my headcanon is that if a kid is struggling somehow, whether through being upset, or having a panic attack, or what have you, if they go to the coaches to talk, Coach Murray will, in fact, hug the kid in question (he has multiple siblings and a few nieces and nephews).

Jack has no idea what to do when Coach Murray hugs him, but over time, he realizes it's part of the coach's way of offering a safe space to the kids, and comfort, and reassurance - hug them when their family can't.

Bitty was startled when Coach Murray hugged him the first time after his third practice, and he was getting upset over his fear of being checked, and Coach Murray said they would try to figure something out for him, but Coach Hall was right - he needed to get over the fear of checking, because it's a contact sport. (As we know, Jack solved that problem for the most part.)

Coach Hall is less sure of himself in comforting the kids (he was an only child), but when Coach Murray was home sick, and Wicky went in to practice after sobbing for an hour over a family member dying and he can't afford to go home for the funeral, Ollie asked Coach Hall to go easy on Wicky today, because of that, and Coach Hall ends up just... hugging the kid.

It startled the shit out of Wicky, because what the fuck? But it felt nice, and it was the first hug someone gave him besides Ollie and Shitty and Bitty, and it was the first hug from an adult since he got to Samwell, and, well. Sometimes a hug makes a lot of things better.

Dex gets a hug from Coach Hall when he gets upset at himself for being an asshole, and went to ask how to make it up to the others because it was so not okay, and the man just hugs him, and says just apologize, and be better.

When Tango tries not to cry over his brother being MIA while overseas, he ends up with both coaches hugging him and telling him it's okay to cry, and Tango just. sobs.

Lukas gets a hug from Coach Murray when he misses his parents so much it hurts and his hockey is affected by it, and he, like the others were, is startled by it, but it feels nice, and like with Wicky, he learns that sometimes a hug just makes a lot of things better, even if it doesn't fix everything.

Percy's side of hockey AU needs A LOT of work (it was written before Spotlight, so it's kind of the precursor, and contains a lot of stuff that's been rewritten or changed since then) but his past with Jack and Bitty will Remain.

Percy was a MESS when he first got brought into the NHL. I haven't decided if I want to change his backstory (originally he was scouted out like Jack was and given a contract, but that was before I had a better idea of how the NHL actually works LMAO) but he basically wasn't going to make it in hockey, and was going through a massive life crisis about it.

So then, of course, that's when he got called up to be a Falc. Percy, who at that point had only ever lived with other people like his parents and Annabeth, had NO CLUE how to take care of himself. Apparently that's the reality of a lot of hockey players who grew up in the system, and so I think Percy would also have a touch of that "I kind of don't know how to do laundry please help me" stuff.

He doesn't get an apartment in time and is basically living out of a hotel for all of training camp, at which point Jack is like "dude. you're a good player, a really good player, but you're a mess off the ice. what the fuck is your deal." and after Percy explained his whole situation, trying to laugh it off in the typical Jackson way, Jack said, "There's more than enough room at my place, as long as you don't mind the, uh. baking."

anyway jack and bitty are two of Percy's best best friends and they all still hang out and have dinner together etc etc. I have plans in my rewrite of Percy's AU (tentatively called So We Meet Again) for them to know Annabeth as well, and have met her multiple times and whatnot.

Annabeth Shitty and Lardo in a room together the world implodes and then explodes.

Would he be on the “wouldn’t be caught dead singing” side because he’s deep in the closet? Or would he sing anyway because he’s extra like that and his teammates just accept it like “parsers at it again”

SMH Musical Endeavors

Yesterday, a few hours after I listened to the season twelve finale, I snapped at my father the same way he snaps at others in the family and he snapped back. We were both only mildly stressed. But we both hate to be talked to in that matter, so it just got worse and worse. I learned it from him, but I don't know how aware of that he is because nobody else mirrors him so well. My mom refuses to fight. My brother and sister..... I don't know. They don't seem to get in these situations. Sometimes I feel like I've inherited all of his bad parts and none of his good parts.

My father is not abusive. We both love each other very much. I am deeply aware of these flaws and like... I try to be better. Or at least I want to be better.

Wanting to be better is not enough.

Maybe my personal experiences are not relevant. As I said, this isn't abusive and even if it was we aren't talking about torture and premeditated bodily harm.

But reading everybody have a viscerally bad reaction because they think Kevin would never be his father? Would never subject his children to the abuse he went through?

Well, I don't feel like I've seen the character development from Kevin to make that a believable statement.

It takes a lot of work to make the worst parts of ourselves, the parts that come out under pressure, the parts that come out when you can't run away, the parts that come out when it matters, better than how we were raised.

Or maybe I'm just making excuses for my bad behavior.

okay saving this for a next day posting because it gave me major feelings, but my brain took it down a non-fluffy road.

like, what if they break up? just circumstances adding up, still loving each other but struggling to make it work. what if they try so hard to move on, but a year or two or five later bitty happens upon one of his own books in a random coffee shop across the country? what if he happens upon more than one? what if he follows the mystery all the way back to jack?
