After listening to My Goodbye, I just felt it in my bones that it fits the argument Ahsoka and Sabine may have had that lead to their strained relationship on screen. We just have to make our own conclusions, so this one is mine~.

I think many do agree that the break of their mentor/apprenticeship and original search for Ezra came to an end after the Night of A Thousand Tears-The Great Purge of Mandalore; soo after the loss of Sabine’s Clan and family most likely. Which is so,,, agh, leaves a heavy knot in my chest every time I think about it 😞

Pero bueno, I can understand to an extent why Ahsoka chooses to let Sabine go and all — doesn’t mean I fully forgive her for doing it during such a traumatic event for Sabine, my beloved 😤 Anyhow, that is my thoughts on it and also for Sabine’s epilogue haircut in the draws (I have officially completed all of her hair styles 🤩).

I truly think a lot of the lyrics in this song definitely fit them both, not just the parts I gave Ahsoka and Sabine.

Why purrgils with Sabine 🐋? Association to Ezra and how finding them may lead to where he is. Plus, just her overall desire to find him and how this likely was a factor when she asked Ahsoka to train her as a Jedi to be able to find/sense him in the force.

Anyways, the “I have to see him…” just— 😩😭 I know that’s exactly what Sabine was thinking in her head when she handed the map ~ (originally my initial sketch for the “Just a man” part, but I liked her expression a lot I added it in and refined the lines~

Mandatory Sabezra hype post because some of us are struggling after the premiere

Spoilers for Ahsoka below the cut

So, I know a lot of us are a bit down after the 'like a sister' line but do not get it in your mind that this is it and the ship has sunk.

Consider this, you are Ezra, you are about to do something very scary and you know you may never see your family again. You want to leave a separate message for the girl you have been in love with since you were 14 to let her know how much she means to you, but you also know that she has said several times how she does not reciprocate. If you tell her how you feel, in what might be the last thing you ever get to say to her, it would make it awkward for her if she never feels the same, so you panic and settle for the next best thing.

Also, his body language was soo awkward during that part specifically, like he didn't really believe what he was saying, and Sabine scoffed like she didn't believe it either.

There is also A LOT of subtext implying that she cares a lot deeper for him than just as a brother. I mean is dripping off of both episodes. Even if she is still in denial, her actions point to her almost definitely having deeper feelings. Ten years is a lot of time for feelings to changed/ be realized.

I am more worried about what their reunion will be like than a hologram that is a decade old.

All of this to say, DO NOT LOSE HOPE. We are still sailing a ship.

I guess what keeps me up at night is asking what's the point of Sabine's search for Ezra, like... as an emotional arc.

Because when I rewatch the fourth season of Rebels, I get the impression that they are paired together in many episodes as a way to prepare us for a hurtful goodbye between the two at the end of the show, which is to me the same reason why they decided to go heavy on confirming Kanan and Hera's romance because they knew he was going to die.

I don't really know if the parallels between Sabezra and Kanera are intentional considering how Filoni talks about the former, but Ezra does become Kanan (even has a whole stretch arms sacrifice) and Sabine does become Hera (Deep grief for losing him) and not in a "The kid got this from his/her parent." sense, but in the sense of that the situation is really similar, which is interesting because it wasn't like this originally.

Ahsoka made Sabine's grief towards Ezra not being by her side all the time a thing.

Instead of simply letting Sabine's mission be about bringing Ezra home like in the original animated epilogue, Filoni complicates things a little bit by implying that Sabine is not doing this for Ezra, but for herself. Beyond that, almost every character notices how devoted she is to him and it even confuses some of them.

Thrawn, for example, has studied Sabine. He is well aware that Ezra is her compatriot and friend and yet... he is confused by her choice. Sabine states "You wouldn't understand." and then accepts to be stranded on Peridea just to see Ezra again. Once she found him and even after hearing he wants to get home, she did not say a word about Thrawn being his only ticket home. Instead, she simply enjoys time with him.

If you know Sabine Wren, you know that she would never ignore a huge Imperial threat and put in danger people like Hera, who is definitely an older sister type of role model to her, or feel that Ezra is the only family she has, so I do understand why people think she is very distant from the original show.

There might be a reason for all of this. A reason that I'm not sure Filoni wants to dive into, but the way he's been writing Sabine, the vagueness every time Ezra is the conversation's topic, feels like she has fallen in love with him during his absence and honestly? This makes far more sense than any other explanation.

We've seen in Star Wars before, fiction in general, that love is blind. Sabine's focus on finding Ezra is described by Baylan as something that blinds her. Not only this would justify her out of character attitude, but also the parallels with Kanan and Hera.

Star Wars live-action TV shows this year have been interesting to decode. In both The Mandalorian season 3 and Ahsoka season 1, there's a lot of subtle implications that characters want to build a life with somebody.

Mando does this in Chapter 22 - Guns For Hire, an episode surrounded by romantic love, where a droid bartender tells Din and Bo that human life is so short and then they look at each other. They want to be together, but that has not been verbalized yet. It is still very much in the subconscious.

Ahsoka does it in Part 7 - Dreams and Madness, by showing Sabine's lack of urgency regarding Thrawn and simply enjoying Ezra's company. It really implies that this was what her mission was all about: Be with Ezra. Her real desire is build a life with him, but that desire is still in the subconscious.

I believe Favreau knows all of that when it comes to Din and Bo.

BUT DOES FILONI KNOW THAT WHEN IT COMES TO SABINE AND EZRA?

Okay, Sabezra shippers, here’s an Ahsoka teaser trailer breakdown to ponder.

On Sabine: “…as Sabine sadly looks at an image of Ezra Bridger played by Eman Esfandi. And on the walls of her bunk are drawings, a loth wolf and a few loth cats. She really, really misses her boy from Lothal.”

So Sabine has been living in Ezra’s tower and SLEEPING IN HIS BUNK which is now HER bunk!?

(Tell me again, why aren’t we supposed to ship these two?)

I would say that this trailer is implying that “She really, really misses her boy[friend] from Lothal.”

Not that they have actually gotten together…yet.

Let’s talk about this after you finish hyperventilating.

This is a friends to lovers story.

This is now is THEIR bunk.

And it’s in their home.

Sabine also drives their speeder. After all, that speeder was what Ezra was driving when they first met.

Saw a couple posts basically saying that anyone who ships Sabezra is insane and doesn’t understand the characters at all and like. One one hand I am not a sabezra fan and am so glad that so far they’re going in a sibling direction in the show. On the other hand, like. Canonically their first interactions heavily imply that Ezra had a crush on Sabine. Like I don’t ship it but like, I do see where people who do are coming from, it feels weird to pretend that Rebels never introduced the idea of them being a couple even if that’s not where it went.

@seleneisrising @better-call-mau1 @tarisilmarwen @starryjediknight you all are rubbing of on me( in a good way). I've been thinking about season 4 Sabezra a ton lately. Especially after this post

So in the next 2 episodes of the season (In the Name of the Rebellion) we get to see them go on a solo mission (plus Chop). These two had been separated for a while before Ezra went to get Sabine and then rescued her dad on Mandalore. We don't really know how long they have been back together, but they are so in sync. THE HAND HOLDING. They instinctively reach for each other, knowing the other will catch them. Ezra states in Heroes of Mandalore "was wondering when you'd show up", he knows Sabine will always be there to catch him.

Some other notes: when Ezra hears the kyber crystal singing Sabine doesn't question it or make fun of him. She totally believes in what he's hearing even when she can't. Zeb points out that "those two can't go anywhere without blowing something up" which implies they have had multiple solo missions which involved explosions.

Visions, Voices, and Awkward Hypotheticals sounds fun. What is it about?

So glad you asked about this one!! 😄

Now, to keep myself from sounding completely kriffing bonkers when I explain where this idea came from, I want to briefly point out the obvious: Rebels is a kids’ show. It’s aimed at a younger audience than The Clone Wars and avoids getting into the details when addressing serious/mature/adult themes — as you’d expect and want in a kids’ show.

That said…there are always some not-so-kid-friendly implications which simply can’t be scrubbed…so, as far as I can tell, they’re hidden in plain sight and only hinted at vaguely. 🤫 Or the writers just didn’t realize what they were implying.

In the case of Season 3’s “Visions and Voices” episode, it’s mentioned explicitly why the Nightsister spirits bargain with Maul for flesh and blood: they need to rebuild their clan. What’s not explained, though, is why they don’t possess Maul and Ezra (two males) on the spot. What’s also not explained is why they don’t hesitate to possess Sabine…or why Possessed Sabine gives Ezra that smirk when she first opens her creepy-green-mist-eyes…or why she later stalks him (practically pounces on him) while Possessed Kanan kneels on the altar like he’s got nothing better to do because as far as the spirits are concerned, he doesn’t…or why the Nightsisters seem to think ‘rebuilding their clan’ is best accomplished by making exactly one dubious deal with exactly one dubious ex-Sith Lord for approximately two living bodies. 🧐 (Basically, the Nightsister spirits are pretty intense Sabezra shippers…so long as both Sabine and Ezra are under their influence. 😅)

To be honest, this interpretation is probably a little off the wall…but it still makes for a perfect missing scene fic — and Visions, Voices, and Awkward Hypotheticals features Sabine and Ezra unpacking what I hinted at above after leaving Dathomir. Between Sabine’s fledgling crush, Ezra being fairly oblivious, and lots of banter-y silliness, I think it’ll be a fun one. 🤪

“Not just…” she sighed, rolling her eyes. “Alright, are you seriously not getting what I’m saying here? The Nightsisters wanted ‘flesh and blood’ to rebuild their clan. What could they do with ‘flesh and blood’ — a boy and a girl — that they couldn’t do by themselves?”

“Huh…a boy and a girl…hmmmmmm…wait…do you mean…?”

“No need to say it out loud.”

I reread this fanfic by WillowHatter on AO3 and just had a soft idea to draw Sabine with Hera from the fic 💜🥹💚 I assumed the fic takes place near the tail end of season 2, but after rereading it, it may be early season 3 😅 bueno, it’s fine 😌

It’s the first time I’ve drawn Hera, and honestly, she is just so beautiful and fun to draw! Much like how I’ve drawn Ahsoka ☺️. Hera being the best mentor/mother figure ever ✨

Rebels Headcanons

•Ezra has a lot of phobias. One of them is tornadoes. Whenever the crew is on a planet and a big storm is raging, he hides in the vents until either his body odor circulating through the ship makes Hera yank him out, or she gets the message and leaves the planet.

•Zeb still suffers from post-traumatic flashbacks in his sleep. He remembers leading a small group of his people to safety and watching hundreds more die. He’s woken the whole crew up with his screams more than once. This has often lead to family group hugs, even with Chopper.

•Every so often, one of Hera’s lekku will wrap around Kanan’s arm while they’re asleep. This is a normal Twi'lek reflex that sometimes happens when the individual is in close proximity to someone they’re attracted to.

•On the rare occasions that Sabine is alone on the ship, she will often attempt to practice Mandalorian ballet. Long story short, she’s about as graceful as a drunk Gundark. She once tried to do a plié and almost fell through her open door. Much to her surprise, Ezra was still on the Ghost and was there to catch her. Neither of them would stop blushing for two days afterwards.

•Kallus often goes through long periods of guilt and self-pity. These are the result of all his years fighting on the wrong side. He thinks about all the innocent people he’s helped hurt, Maketh Tua’s family mostly. The only way he’s able to cheer himself up is by listening to his favorite holo-operas.

•Fenn spends most nights working on his fighter. Since Kanan destroyed his original ship, the Black Talon, the Mandalorian pilot has named his new craft the Grey Ghost (casual Speed Racer reference). He’d prefer to keep this one in one piece for as long as possible.

•Since her last endeavor alongside Phoenix Squadron, Ketsu has spent her time collecting low-value bounties and building up her muscle. She doesn’t take up assassination bounties anymore, even if the reward is over 10,000 credits.

•While Sabine was staying on Krownest, she and Tristan had a few late-night bro/sis chats, something they always did when they were little. Tristan revealed how guilty he felt for serving a tyrant like Gar Saxon, and often, Ursa will allow him to go outside and spit on Saxon’s shallow grave.

Thrawn has spent his days since the Battle of Atollon training. He’s been planning to fight Kanan and/or Ezra in personal combat, no blasters or lightsabers. How he’ll do it, even he doesn’t know. And of course, there are always his nightly “stare at art for hours on end like a pretentious douchebag” sessions.

•Ursa likes teasing Sabine about Ezra. The Mandalorian Countess even went so far as to buy her daughter a wedding dress and make “It’s a Girl!!” And “It’s a Boy!!” banners. Sabine’s forehead has gotten bruised by all her facepalming.

•In 2 BBY, hologames were put on the market. Hera bought a crap ton of them for the “kids” to play in their downtime. Zeb’s favorite is “Centipede”, Ezra’s is “Galaga”, and Sabine’s is “Asteroids.” Chopper doesn’t really have a favorite because he absolutely obliterates the others’ high scores on all of them.

•Ahsoka’s favorite thing to do on the other side is just sit around and chit-chat with Master Plo.

•After the Grand Inquisitor fell into the exploding reactor aboard the Sovereign, his spirit was caught in purgatory between the Valley of the Fallen (Jedi Heaven) and Chaos (Sith Hell). He heard a voice speaking to him, and he recognized it as Master Yoda. Their conversation went as follows:

Yoda: Strayed far, you have.

Inquisitor: I know, Master. It is too late for me. The Dark Side has overtaken me. I betrayed the Order, I’ve killed so many of my Jedi brethren. I deserve to suffer in Chaos for eternity.

Yoda: A true Jedi, it takes, to admit what wrongs they’ve committed. Not completely overtaken by the Dark Side, have you been. I still sense the good in you. Pledge your soul to the Living Force, and pass to the Valley you can.

Inquisitor: The Dark Side will no longer hold me. I pledge my soul to the Living Force, and shall serve its will.

He passed into the Valley of the Fallen, where he lay in wait until Yoda called upon him to knight Kanan in the Lothal Temple.

Well...since @meldy-arts posted the picture I figured I should post the fanfic I wrote for it...

But really though, this sparked me writing like three angst things last night, one I posted already and the other I may post later as well? And it all started when I showed Mel “Runnin’ Home to You” and it’s a happy song right?!? But now....now it’s an angst song for me....why *flops*

Okay enough talking, now for the fic, which is really feelsy...just and fyi xD

Peace. Ezra had felt it before, he had sought it constantly. And he had found glimpses of it every now and again. But this was real peace. For the first time in forever there was no pain, no guilt, no sadness. Just peace.

The Force flowed all around him. Everything in place. There was balance. There was calm. And Ezra smiled.

Ezra felt him before he saw anything. Such a familiar presence he hadn’t felt so strong in years.

Looking up, he saw a proud smile on his mouth.

There were no tears here. But if he could cry, Ezra knew he would have. For he hadn’t seen his mentor in so long. He had lost him so many years ago. There were so many times he had wondered if Kanan would’ve been proud of him. So many moments when he looked to the stars and wondered if his surrogate father was watching over him in that moment.

“You did good, Ezra.”

Just a few words, but they meant everything. Ezra flung himself at Kanan.

It wasn’t solid. No, it wasn’t quite the same as in reality. It was better. Emotions were more transparent here. He could feel the pride, the love, the peace. He was home again.

This couldn’t be real. Ezra couldn’t be dead. He just couldn’t. Mira told herself this again and again. He would walk back into the room, a silly smile on his face. And he would hug her and then hug Sabine and it would be okay. But every time she told herself this, Mira felt the emptiness around her. The hole he had left in the Force. He was gone. There was no miracle, no coming home. And each time reality dawned on Mira, she would break. She couldn’t hold back her tears. Her legs buckled and she slid to the floor.

“Dad-” her voice cracked and sobs escaped her. “Dad come home…please…”

The void he left surrounded her. She was empty. Lost. And broken. Her dad was gone. Nothing could ease the pain in her chest, the tears falling down her cheeks. Nothing would ever be the same again.

Little did she know that her father was watching her. Sitting in front of her, resting an unfelt hand on her shoulder.

“It’s okay little Firefly,” he whispered. “We’ll see each other again.”

Mira hadn’t felt his presence in so long. But as soon as she felt it, she knew it was him. Looking up she saw her dad, as young as the day he had died. A smile played on his face as he walked up to her. He opened his mouth to speak, but Mira’s body slammed into him before any words came out. All the pain, all the loss, all the days Mira had talked to him, had pretended he was there just to get through the day. It all washed over her and flowed into the Force. It ran and ran until all that was left was calm.

“I’m so proud of you, Mira.” Ezra’s voice was quiet, calm, happy.

“Dad…” she whispered quietly. She had forgotten the sound of his voice. Holos always sounded garbled, not quite him. But this, this was him.

“I’m here Firefly,” he said, then lifted her chin and smiled down at her. “And you’re here, and nothing will ever separate us again.”

I don’t normally post my works in progress, but I am very happy and satisfied with how Sabine and Ezra look so far in the sketches that I can’t help but share a glimpse of their lovely faces to y’all ☺️

I’ll be meeting Eman and Natasha for autographs at SpaceCon in about a month from now, so the nerves are a lot but I’m very excited. It’ll be the first time I meet actors face-to-face that isn’t my best friend meeting them for me lol 😆 ✨ (first was with Mikasa’s VA 🖤🧣, then Atsushi’s VA 🐯🤍, and she did meet Natasha for me back in June 💜 and gifted her another art from me too ha 🥹).
