"I've seen that expression many a time before," the wizened little figure remarked. "Disbelief, scorn, perhaps even a little pity. An expression that often voices impertinent questions such as, 'This is all they spared to guard their hideout - an elderly little runa? What can such a pathetic codger possibly do to stop us?'" The badger-dwarf tutted softly and sized up the attackers before him. Human soldiers, a few yrchène mercenaries. The flow of aether around them suggested that they were smart enough to wear reflection charms to ward off elemental attacks. Wanda and Rodney would have been in dire straits indeed ... but the old mage simply chuckled. He'd been studying magic for longer than the twins' lives combined. A gesture with his free hand, and that same aether solidified into spikes that slammed through the attackers' feet and staked them to the ground. As they shrieked in agony and struggled to free themselves, he raised his stave and began to channel something much nastier with a cold, hard glare. "Allow Grand Sage Stavros to answer your enquiries," he growled, "in excruciating detail."

"Chronicled Wish" Rules & FAQ
Tumblr media
Dear Travelers,
During Version 4.5, a new type of Event Wish: "Chronicled Wish" will become available. Here, we've gathered together some questions that you might be curious about to better explain the rules of this new type of Wish.
Q: What is "Chronicled Wish"? What can I get from it?
A: "Chronicled Wish" is a new type of Event Wish that allows you to wish for certain rerun characters and weapons.
Travelers can obtain random 5-star, 4-star, and 3-star items from "Chronicled Wish." Unlike other Event Wishes, the item list of "Chronicled Wish" includes both 5-star characters and 5-star weapons. It also includes a number of event wish-exclusive characters and weapons.
Q: What are the rules of "Chronicled Wish"? Is there a wish guarantee?
A: Wishes for "Chronicled Wish" require Intertwined Fate. Before wishing, you must choose your "Chronicled Path" by selecting a 5-star character or weapon from the list of 5-star items. If the Designated Item is a character, the 5-star items you can obtain in the Wish will all be characters; whereas if the Designated Item is a weapon, the 5-star items you can obtain in the Wish will all be weapons.
There are guarantees for both the 5-star and 4-star items in the Wish. A maximum of 90 wishes conducted will secure a 5-star item through the guarantee. When you obtain a 5-star item in this Event Wish, there is a 50.000% chance it will be the Designated Item. You are guaranteed to win a 4-star or above item at least once every 10 attempts.
"Chronicled Path" Rules:
After choosing a 5-star item as your Designated Item, if you obtain a 5-star item that was not your Designated Item, you will receive 1 Fate Point. Once you have reached the maximum amount of Fate Points (1 Fate Point), the next 5-star item you obtain through this Wish is guaranteed to be your Designated Item.
Obtaining the current Designated Item or changing your choice will reset the Fate Points to 0.
To take Version 4.5's Chronicled Wish as an example, if you chose the character "Dandelion Knight" Jean (Anemo) as your Designated Item, then the 5-star items you might receive would be limited to the characters in the image below (and would therefore not include weapons). As Jean is the Designated Item, if you were to receive the character "Dance of the Shimmering Wave" Eula (Cryo) instead, you would receive 1 Fate Point (the maximum amount). The next 5-star item that you'd obtain would then be guaranteed to be Jean.
Tumblr media
Q: When the "Chronicled Wish" event ends, will my accumulated wishes carry over to the next "Chronicled Wish"? How about the Fate Points for "Chronicled Path"?
A: The wish guarantee count will continue to accumulate within "Chronicled Wish," and will carry over to the next "Chronicled Wish." The wish guarantee count for "Chronicled Wish" is independent of the guarantee counts for other types of Wishes.
Your Fate Points will not be carried over to the next "Chronicled Wish." Your Fate Points will be reset to 0 when the current "Chronicled Wish" ends.
E.g.:
In the current "Chronicled Wish," you chart a course towards "Dandelion Knight" Jean (Anemo) but the first 5-star character you obtain is "Fleeing Sunlight" Klee (Pyro). As this character is not Jean, you obtain 1 Fate Point for "Chronicled Path."
You make another 10 wishes during the same "Chronicled Wish," but don't receive a 5-star item, so you are still 80 wishes away from being guaranteed a 5-star item. You then don't make any other wishes during the current "Chronicled Wish."
Once the next "Chronicled Wish" begins, your accumulated wish count is carried over from the last "Chronicled Wish," but your Fate Points for "Chronicled Path" are reset to 0. In the new "Chronicled Wish," you will be guaranteed to obtain a 5-star item after 80 wishes, and there is a 50.000% chance that it will be the current Designated Item.
Q: Will the item list change between different "Chronicled Wish" periods? Are there corresponding rules for said changes?
A: The items in each different "Chronicled Wish" period may change. For details, please stay tuned for "Chronicled Wish" event notices.
Only event-exclusive 5-star characters that have already appeared in the "Character Event Wish" or "Character Event Wish-2" at least 3 times and have also not appeared in any recent Event Wishes will appear in "Chronicled Wish."
Event-exclusive 5-star characters that have already appeared in "Chronicled Wish" may still appear in future "Chronicled Wishes" or other types of Event Wishes.
Q: When will "Chronicled Wish" be available?
A: "Chronicled Wish" events will be available from time to time. Please stay tuned to our official news for detailed information about when they will be available.
If you still have any queries about "Chronicled Wish," feel free to leave them in the comments section or stay tuned for future official announcements. For more detailed rules, please check out the "Details" section on the event page after the game is updated.

When I think about Fates getting called a bad story, the first thing I think of is how everyone claiming that fixing Nohr's famine would have solved the war just. completely ignores Anankos's background influence planning to make things worse. If it wasn't the famine, it would have been something else, anything else Anankos could use to further his goals of ruining both Hoshido and Nohr - and that's compelling writing because it shows that it's not a easy fix as some would like it to be. It's strange how so many simplify the core conflict into making little sense because they keep acting like a greater evil behind things is somehow a 'ass pull' or distraction?
That's the thing though, people would then just pivot to the "well it sucks that Fates' problems are caused by a random problems dragon that's only revealed in one route", to which I argue... well, sorta kinda?
The main core of Fates' story is that the conflict is so unreasonable, destructive and meaningless, to the point where even questioning it has people resistant. It's about removing the barrier between two flawed kingdoms that have no reason to keep fighting, and only benefit when they exist in harmony with each other. Anankos' influence is representative of that illogical premise. What else could be making two groups of people fight over more than what they could solve without warfare, other than a crazed, despotic and resentful figure of power who wants to drag the rest of the world down with him?
Revenge, famine, resources, defense from invasion, isolationism, jealousy and pride, etc... all of these provide reason for conflict, but not one that lasted since the age of godly dragons. Only another ambitious and godly dragon could halt progress and change to that degree.
I know the common critique of FE stories in general is that "well, the problems get solved by beating big scary dragon and that sucks", but the point of those final bosses isn't that every problem is solved. Honestly, the point is never just "beat bad dragon the end." The point is that you were able to unify around a cause despite differing backgrounds, and because of that, change is then starting to develop in the epilogues (and can happen in supports, base conversations, etc.) The final bad dragon is the last step of the journey, with said journey being the actual fix to whatever issues are plaguing the protagonist's party. It's a narrative-gameplay tool.

everyone says that Fates's MyCastle is the best hub area in FE, but I disagree, it's the Three Hopes one, no need for dragon veins for structures, fast travel to the structures and to your units, no loading screen when going to the structures or using the fast travel, it's the perfect size to navigate around if you don't want to use the fast travel. The 3Hopes camp it's just so good and it makes me happy :)

okay so now that Archer's kit in HSR has been leaked I can confidently drop my own kit I made up as a prediction without confusing the shit out of people. I got exactly two things right (talent was moved to his IRL E1 and changed to fit his core mechanic and his Trace 2 doesn't include the +1 SP at battle start that I gave him) with just the knowledge that he "would make a sparkle main happy" and "deals damage using his skill" (yes I did technically misinterpret that second statement but whatever)
Also yes I stole like 70% of this kit from his fate/extra iteration even though the crossover is specifically with F/UBW I just like the idea of his kit in fate/extra lmao it's more mechanically satisfying to me
Basic Attack 1 - Kanshou and Bakuya
Basic Attack 2 - Hrunting (Inflicts Def Down for 3 turns)
Basic Attack 3 - Caladbolg II (Reduces toughness regardless of weakness present)
Basic Attack 4 - Excalibur Image (Big Multiplier + Reduces toughness regardless of weakness present in addition to consuming all remaining SP while dealing 50% of max HP as damage to himself. For each additional point of SP consumed past the amount used to cast Excalibur Image, increases damage multiplier of the attack by 30% and reduces the self-damage by 10%)
Skill - Pre-Projection (Enhances Basic Attack up to three times)
Ult - Unlimited Bladeworks (100% Action Advance, Next Enhanced Basic doesn't use SP, Deploys Unlimited Bladeworks Field which grants access to Excalibur Image and increases Archer's crit rate. Lasts for three turns)
Talent - Extra Attack (After three actions, grant an additional action. Alternatively, if defeating an enemy, grant an additional action. During additional action, SP is not consumed or gained (when using Skill, can only use it a number of times up to the current amount of SP))
Trace 1 - Independent Action (Adds 50% of Archer's Crit Rate to Crit Dmg, with a max bonus of 50% Crit Dmg)
Trace 2 - Mana Loading (Gain +1 SP at battle start and increase Max SP by 1)
Trace 3 - Clairvoyance (Using skill increases Quantum RES PEN by 5% for the next attack)
Technique - Circuit Connect (Deploy the Unlimited Bladeworks Field at the start of battle)
E1 - When using Hrunting, immediately grant Archer an additional action. Does not reset the turn count from Archer's talent. This effect's use count increases by 1 when Archer uses Unlimited Bladeworks
E2 - When using Excalibur Image, refund 1 SP after use
E4 - Gain +5% Quantum Damage Bonus every time Archer gains an additional action up to +25%
E6 - Excalibur Image's self-damage effect is reduced to 30% Max HP. For each additional 10% reduction to the self-damage effect, additionally increases the Crit Dmg of Excalibur Image by 20%
