(Author's Notes)

Panel 1: Inside the cottage. Laudna is carefully piecing together shards of colored glass with magic to fill the broken window panes, creating a stained-glass effect that falls across her face.

Panel 2: Outside in the meadow, Imogen is stuffing a straw tick with fresh dried prairie grass. Her arms are bare and freckled in the afternoon sun.

Panel 3: Evening. Laudna is on the roof, repairing the missing boards. The dead tree that had been leaning against the roof is lying on the ground in several lightning-struck pieces, which Imogen is now (with some difficulty) splitting into firewood.

Panel 4: By the stove Imogen takes a bath in the washtub, in which she just fits, enjoying the hot water from their new kettle. Wrapped in a towel nearby, Laudna is brushing Pâté with a toothbrush.

Panel 5: They go to sleep, nestled close together in the sweet-smelling softness of their new bed, safe, warm, and happy.

Since landing on Ruidus, Imogen and Laudna have been going nonstop and connecting with bigger threats, but in all this chaos… how’s their relationship? Have any of the recent event changed it in one way or another?

I think what Marisha mentioned might be a spoiler, unless I’m not remembering something that happened

Crawling out of hibernation to celebrate the good news. I’m hideously far behind on C3 but maybe this will be what persuades me to catch up. :)

[ID: a fanart comic of Imogen and Laudna from Critical Role, campaign three, episode 65. In the first panel, an anxious looking Imogen asks “Can I kiss you?" In the next panel, drawn in a simple, comical style, she continues "I can’t tell if it’s alright or not anymore." Imogen looks embarrassed and Laudna has a surprised-pikachu expression. In the third panel, Laudna replies "…Alright." Imogen, relieved, asks "Alright?" and Laudna confirms "Alright!"

In the fourth panel there is as awkward pause, with both women saying "…" as they wait for the other to make the first move. In the fifth panel, Imogen throws herself at a suprised Laudna, clasping her face in both hands and leaning in to kiss her. The plain background has turned to sparkly pink clouds. The final panel shows a close up of their two faces as they kiss. Both have their eyes closed. This panel is drawn in a more realistic style compared to the earlier panels. End ID]

Another sketch of southern gothic... Post kiss, I'm imagining Imogen is super cautious at first and lets Laudna take lead until Laudna figures out exactly what she wants.

Panel 1: Imogen looks up at her in distress, her eyes full of tears. She takes her face in her hands, gently holding her ears.

Imogen: Oh, Laudna . . .

Laudna: I'm sorry.

Imogen: Don't. Don't you apologize for what they did to you. You . . . you died.

Laudna: I did. I'd meant to tell you sooner, really I did, but to be honest I was afraid of what you'd think of me if you knew I was, you know. A bit dead. I understand if you . . .

Imogen: Who was it? Who's Lady Briarwood?

Laudna: Oh . . . she was the ruler of Whitestone, for a time. But she's long dead now.

Imogen: For her sake, it's probably for the best. 'Cause if I ever crossed paths with her . . .

Panel 2: Laudna’s posture remains hunched and uncomfortable while Imogen looks up at her, not yet quite parsing that she isn’t the target of the anger in her eyes.

Laudna: It . . . really doesn't bother you? That I'm . . . not all alive?

Imogen: The only thing that's botherin' me is how you got that way.

Laudna: I just feel that you deserve so much more in a friend than . . . this.

Panel 3: Laudna gestures dismissively to herself.

Imogen: Than what?

Laudna: This! This cold and creaking husk in bed beside you. This body that's more bone than flesh. This sluggish heart pumping ooze through it. I understand I can be . . . off-putting. I can't even offer you the comfort of a warm hug when you're upset.

Panel 4: Imogen presses her hand over Laudna's heart and looks up at her earnestly.

Imogen: Listen to me. You've got a heart that loves, Laudna. That makes you more alive than havin’ one that beats. You have more warmth and life in you than any other fully live person I've ever known. And don't worry about being cold. I've got more'n enough heat for both of us.

Panel 5: They go back to bed. Imogen's arms are around Laudna, who is awake, but smiling up into the darkness. Her hand is resting over her heart where Imogen had laid hers.
