Summary: When (Y/n) sleep-walks around the common room late at night, Draco is always around to take care of her.
Enjoy.

Tumblr media
Closing his eyes, Draco tipped his head back and dragged his fingers through his hair. He wasn't ever so keen on Prefect duty. Wandering the dark halls late into the night wasn't fun or enjoyable unless there was someone trying to sneak around who he could send back to their dorm.
Draco wasn't the best sleeper and now he didn't have long to sleep before he would have to be up with everyone else for class.
Shedding his robes, Draco pulled at the buttons on his shirt as he shuffled across the carpet in the common room, heading towards the stairs. By now he could walk most of the castle blindfolded and he knew the common room like the back of his hand. What he didn't account for was to see someone sitting on the sofa at almost midnight.
He stopped unbuttoning his shirt for a moment and froze a few feet away from the sofa, trying to work out who it was and what they were doing down here so late. There weren't any OWL exams coming up so there wasn't a lot of people staying up this late to study.
"(Y/n)? Baby what are you doing up?" Draco kicked off his shoes near the armchair before he crossed over towards the sofa when it dawned on him who was sat there all alone.
She was slouched back on the sofa, her head ticked to the side letting her hair cascade down her shoulder like she should have been in one of the many paintings in the hallway. She was wearing her usual pyjamas but she didn't have any books around her, usually if she was up late Draco would find her with a book.
Shrugging the shirt off his shoulders, Draco tossed it carelessly beside his robes before he crouched down in front of (Y/n) and pressed his hands on her thighs, rubbing up and down to try and get her to talk to him. But after a few seconds ticked by, a sigh passed through his lips and he pressed his forehead against her knee.
"Oh, baby."
She had been sleepwalking again.
Most of the students in Slytherin knew (Y/n) would sleep walk, it was no secret in her dorm when the three other girls in her room realised she had disappeared during the night and found her walking back to bed. Others had found out when they tried sneaking out and (Y/n) would be wandering the common room.
No one said anything. No one dared. No one would make fun of her or tease or make any comments when she was Draco's girlfriend or they would have Hell to pay.
Most of the time if (Y/n) ever wandered, she would only come down to the common room. Draco hadn't known her to leave the common room and go around the halls or into classrooms or outside, no prefect had ever found her roaming. It was a big relief to Draco, he dreaded the thought of (Y/n) wandering outside with no one realising where she had gone.
Standing up, Draco slung his robe and shirt over his shoulder before he went back over to (Y/n) and gently held her upper arms.
"Come on baby, you can come back with me." He gently pulled her up to her feet and spun her round in the direction of the stairs.
His hands slid down from her arms to caress her hips before he tucked his face into the crook of her neck and shoulder, pressing a gentle kiss to her skin.
It wouldn't be the first time (Y/n) had stayed in Draco's bed up in his dorm, he was forever smuggling her into his room when he wanted to stay with her and he knew (Y/n) secretly preferred it because he was a light sleeper. None of the girls in her dorm were light sleepers and although they were (Y/n)'s friends, they were worried and on edge in case she went wandering and they didn't notice.
Draco always noticed.
The moment he felt (Y/n) trying to leave the bed, his arms would cocoon around her and his voice would be in her ear, quietly shushing her and whispering for her to lay back down and relax. It worked every time.
He wanted her in his dorm because he could keep her safe when she was with him.
"Up we go," His voice was smooth like melting chocolate and his lips smiled against her neck while his hands moved from her hips to the back of her thighs just below her bum. Gently trying to coax her to lift her feet and head up the stairs because he didn't want to wake her or disrupt her by carrying her.
Never had Draco tried to wake (Y/n) up when she started to sleep walk. He would talk to her, hold her and kiss her, but he didn't try and wake her, he didn't know what would happen if he did and he didn't want to find out. Draco guided (Y/n) back to bed or stayed in the common room and fell asleep with her down there.
Sometimes it was hard to get (Y/n) up the stairs, he had often picked her up in his arms or over his shoulder and carried her up when she wouldn't move. Usually he just had to nudge her towards the steps and her mind would figure out what they were doing.
He was forever worried that if he wasn't around and (Y/n) went walking, she might fall down the stairs. Now they had been at Hogwarts for a few years, (Y/n) had the common area and her classes mapped out in her mind so if she went walking during her sleep, she usually knew where the stairs were and where sofas and such were so she didn't bump into anything. But that didn't stop Draco from worrying one night she might not realise how close she was and fall.
His fingertips slid beneath the shorts (Y/n) was wearing and his hands went back to holding her hips as they ascended up the curving stairs, slower than Draco would ever usually walk but he didn't want (Y/n) to trip.
He could feel (Y/n) beginning to slack a little and slow her steps but he kept his face tucked into her neck and continued to guide her around the bend and towards his room.
"Alright baby, into bed."
Draco made quick work of shimmying out of his trousers before he climbed in bed behind (Y/n). His feet hung just over the edge of the bed that wasn't fit for any fourth years or older and it barely accommodated his frame, let alone two of them squished together, but he didn't care. He shuffled up until his head was almost scraping against the wooden headboard so he could rest his chin over the top of (Y/n)'s head and hooked his arm around her waist, fingers splayed out across her lower chest.
His leg curled over (Y/n)'s upper thigh, coiling her against him until every part of him was touching her. His chest moulded to her back, his groin pressed to her bum and his lips curved into a smile when he kissed her head and inhaled her signature shampoo.
Sleeping alone didn't feel right compared to the heavenly feeling of having (Y/n) in his arms like this. Sleep came a lot easier to both of them when they were a tangled mess of limbs together like this.
"Night baby."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rubbing her hand against her face, (Y/n) scratched her nose and rubbed at her eyes when she heard a few muffled voices rousing her from her sleep. Just when she was about to open her eyes, (Y/n) took a moment to breathe deeply before her closed eyes furrowed.
That smell was so familiar. It took a few seconds before (Y/n)'s groggy brain registered that smell was her favourite person; Draco.
Meekly opening her eyes, (Y/n) was faced with a bare chest less than an inch away from her and then she felt the weight on her shoulder and neck. Draco's arm was slumped over her neck and his hand was tangled in her hair at the back of her head. She could feel his leg hooked high over her hip with his foot nearly touching  her bum and his chin was pressing down into the top of her head.
Whose room were they in? Had Draco sneaked into her room last night after his prefect duties? (Y/n) didn't remember waiting up for him or going back to his room or him coming into her dorm.
They had to be in Draco's room. The girls would have said something if they woke up and found Draco asleep in their room, they weren't (Y/n)'s closest friends and they would have no trouble going to Snape and telling him what they were doing. At least when they woke up and realised (Y/n) wasn't in her bed, they never ran to a teacher saying she was gone. The boys in Draco's room were a bit more lenient, they understood and they never said anything.
"Morning... what- when did I come up here?" (Y/n) slowly traced her finger over Draco's chest, making aimless patterns and circles on his pale skin that made him shiver beneath her touch and chuckle into her hair.
"I found you in the common room when I got back last night so I brought you back with me." Draco's voice was laced with sleep and a lot deeper than usual but when he leaned back to look down at her, the smile he flashed made butterflies errupt in (Y/n)'s stomach.
"Sorry."
Rolling onto her back as much as she could with the minimal space in the bed, (Y/n) rubbed her temple before she looked around the room and realised the other three boys were just starting to get ready.
It was the usual routine that if (Y/n) was in their dorm room in the morning, they would just drape the curtains around their bed posts and get changed that way in privacy or head into the bathroom. Blaise had been the only one bold enough to try and hang around the room and wait for (Y/n) to get changed. She was sure it was meant as a joke but Draco didn't take it that way.
"Don't be sorry, I sleep better when you're here." Draco finally fluttered his eyes open properly and wake himself up.
"So do I."
He rolled over until he was hovering on top of her and snagged her lips in a stealing kiss, removing the air from her lungs. His fingers feathered over (Y/n)'s cheek and brushed across her jaw to tilt her head up towards him.
"Why don't you just sleep here with me?"
"If Snape or anyone else found out we'd get shot."
"No we wouldn't. You're safer in here with me, I can keep an eye on you, I can look after you. They can't moan when in your dorm no one notices you leave." Draco kissed her again before he slowly sat up and stretched his arms up towards the ceiling.
He was right, he would notice if (Y/n) wandered when she was in his room, he would know right away if she moved off the bed and he would guide her back and make sure she was alright.
When (Y/n) first came to Hogwarts and she started sleep walking, she tripped in the common room and fractured her wrist. There was talk of how to help, what to do but they couldn't lock the dorm room because the other girls were in there too and it wasn't fair to them and there was no where for (Y/n) to have a room of her own. It was just decided that unless she wandered out of the common room or further around the castle, she could just wander and anyone who found her would let a teacher know and try get her back to bed.
A small smile tugged at (Y/n)'s lips when his words registered in her mind. She was safer when she was with him. It was true, he always looked after her and kept an eye on her and Draco would always help her which was more than could be said for most of the other students here.
"I need to go back and get dressed." (Y/n) almost groaned when she looked down and realised she was going to have to head all the way over to her dorm room, get changed then go back down and go to breakfast.
"Here, wear this and I'll wait for you in the common room."
Holding his hand out, Draco threw his robe towards (Y/n) to save her the embarrassment of wandering through the common room in her pyjamas.
"Thank you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looping his arm over (Y/n)'s shoulders, Draco reeled her into his side and pressed his lips to the back of her head as they walked down the corridor, weaving through the hurricane of students towards the great hall.
Even though it had only been half an hour since she last saw him, (Y/n) smiled when her side bumped into his chest. Anyone would think he hadn't seen her in days, weeks, even months with how he wrapped himself around her like a vine, unwilling to let her go towards anyone else.
For almost two weeks now, (Y/n) had headed into Draco's dorm room when the rest of the girls in her dorm fell asleep and each time, he had held her close and wrapped himself around her like a second skin. She knew once or twice she had tried to get up during the night but he had simply whispered to her and reeled her back into bed and it worked. She had slept better these past two weeks than she had in months and no one had laughed at her or told her they found her in the common room. Someone had once found her sat at the table in front of a chess board like she was waiting for an opponent to play with her at two in the morning.
"You two, follow me."
The smile on (Y/n)'s lips faded into a frown and she leaned more into Draco's side as they slowly verged out of the sea of students to follow McGonnagal to a nearby, empty corridor.
She could feel Draco's arm leaving her shoulders but his hand swooped down to tangle their fingers together behind their robes and he kissed the back of her head again as a silent way to calm her down. If she wanted to speak to them here in a random corridor and not back in her office or a classroom then they could presume that this was nothing good.
"I presume you both to know the rules by now and therefore you should be able to follow them without any guidance or persuasion."
"Professor?"
"Sneaking into dorms after hours is not permitted and it stops now."
Someone had ratted on them and (Y/n) could guess who had done it. It would be one of the girls in her dorm because although the boys in Draco's dorm had never welcomed (Y/n) into their room with open arms, they didn't really care. They knew why she was there and they were fine with it because Draco acted as if it was nothing, he went about bringing (Y/n) into his room as if it was an every day occurence and not breaking any rules at all. His calm demanour and coolness about the situation made it easier.
"Professor please, I... I sleep walk. Draco stops me, if I'm in my own dorm no one notices and I go wandering."
(Y/n) could feel a blush rising to her cheeks as she spoke, keeping her eyes level with the professor's green collar that was sticking up slightly on the left side. She couldn't look her in the eyes because it was embarrassing, (Y/n) was telling the truth but it sounded so odd and inconceivable.
They weren't sneaking around at all hours of the night to be together intimately, not all the time anyway. It was so (Y/n) could feel safe when she went to sleep and Draco could be rest assured that she wasn't unsafe wandering around the castle during the night. It was peace of mind for both of them and safety for (Y/n).
There was contemplation on McGonnagal's face, she seemed to believe them but rules were rules and they were in place for a reason.
"Professor I found her in the common room after prefect duties. I've seen her walk into walls, bump into tables and try to leave the common room and no one in her dorm goes to check on her if she does."
Draco exaggerated slightly, he hadn't found (Y/n) walking into walls for a long time now and she knew the castle well enough to weave around tables and chairs unless they were moved sporadically during the day. But he had found her close to leaving the common room on more than one occasion and the girls in her dorm were deep sleepers and too uncaring to go after (Y/n) if she did wander. They presumed she would always be fine and make her way back or they expected Draco to go find her.
"Be that as it may, Mr Malfoy, rules are rules. I shall have a few words, see what we can do about this but for now, no sneaking around please."
As soon as she was out of sight and the pair of them were heading back towards the hall, (Y/n) let her shoulders slump and tucked her face into the crook of Draco's neck.
What were they going to do now?
"Draco, w-"
"Just give it a few days, then I'll sneak you back into my room. I'm not gonna let you wander off on your own."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trudging up the stairs, Draco rubbed at his eyes that were burning from lack of sleep, yearning for him to be in bed but when he was, sleep evaded him. His mind wouldn't shut down until the sun was starting to rise and then by the time he was nicely settled, it was time to get up for class. Staying up late to walk the halls wasn't doing him any favours either. And now he and (Y/n) were trying to pretend for this week that she was sticking to her dorm room, Draco didn't have her to help him sleep either.
He was one staircase away from the Slytherin common room when the hairs on the back of his neck stood up on end and a shiver rolled down his spine. Twisting round, Draco glanced around him in the dim candlelight. No one else had been sneaking around and no teachers had been walking the halls, he had been sure of that.
Oh no.
A familiar wave of hair caught his attention and his once tired eyes widened and woke up immediately. Turning away from the common room door, Draco jogged down the stone steps but a growl vibrated at the back of his throat when the staircase started to move.
His foot began to tap against the last step as he waited for the ancient staircase to align with a new set and he jumped the small distance and made the descent down to the level below.
Halfway down, Draco leaned over the side and cast his eyes down towards the set (Y/n) was on. She was walking slow, thank Merlin, but she was still drifting away from him with no sense of where she was going or what was happening around her. He knew for definite that (Y/n) wouldn't be wandering around the castle this late at night unless she was sleep walking and it had been so long since he had ever known (Y/n) to leave the common room like this. She must be very unsettled back in her own room.
After another set of stairs, Draco finally hopped onto the ascending stairs (Y/n) was walking up and ran two at a time to try and reach her.
"Baby, baby no- stop!"
Stretching an arm out in front of him, Draco hooked his arm around (Y/n)'s waist and grabbed the banister with his free hand before he wrenched (Y/n) back towards him. He pulled her off balance and almost off the floor causing her back to plummet into his chest, knocking him back down two steps until he crashed onto a few steps down with (Y/n) in his arms.
The stairs were still moving. If he had been a second too late in reaching out for her in her trance-like state, (Y/n) would have fallen.
Leaning his head back against the banister, Draco tried to catch back his lost breaths, feeling a twinge of pain in his lower back from the landing. But when he looked down at (Y/n) slumped against his chest, a quiet, breathless laugh errupted from his lips.
Her eyes had fallen closed, she had gone back to sleep.
Draco pressed his lips to the top of (Y/n)'s head and tightened his arm around her middle, holding her impossibly closer to his chest like he was trying to merge them together into one being.
He was going to have to carry her back up to his room.
Draco admits his feelings
Walking into the Slytherin common room I see my best friend Pansy Parkinson. I had just finished potions class and wanted to go over some notes with her to study for our upcoming O.W.L.S. “Hey Love” I smile and give my best friend a warm hug. “Hey honey” she smiles and hugs back. “Shall we start?” I ask her. After about an hour of looking over and practicing some potions, we decide to kick back and relax by the fire. It’s a bit late, so it’s just us in the common room. My favorite thing in the world...Or at least one of my favorite things. I turn to Pansy. “So, how are things going with Blaise?” I ask her, wondering how things are holding up with her boyfriend who is also a part of our friend group. For reference, our friend group consists of me, Emi Grindelwald, Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, who is Pansy’s lover, and Draco Malfoy. A.K.A the man that has had my heart since our first year. He just doesn’t seem to know it.... Pansy smiles “yea, we are doing good. He’s taking me on some surprise date for our anniversary” “Oooo you must tell me the details after” I giggle. She chuckles. “For sure...Soo anything new with Draco?” “How you always ask me this still baffles me. you know I don’t have the balls to tell him how I really feel. I don’t want to ruin our friendship” I say looking down. “He likes you Emi, everyone can see it except you” Pansy says. “You don’t know that Pans” I sigh. “well maybe nows your chance to find out” she says looking up to see Draco walking in the room. “See you in our dorm” she giggles and walks away “wait. don’t” I start but it is too late. She already walked down the stairs out of sight. “Hey Em, What are you doing out here so late” Draco asks sitting next to me. “I was studying with Pansy, but she left, now im just enjoying the peace and quiet” I say trying not to act nervous. “Yea, it is really nice when no one is here” he says in a soft sweet voice. Oh how I love him. “So Uhm- I-I have been meaning to tell you something” Draco said stuttering. Weird, I have never heard him stuttering before. He was always so confident. “sure, what’s up? are you okay?” I ask, concerned. “yea- I'm just gonna go out and say it” he takes a deep breath “I love you... as more than a friend. I think I have since our first year, It just took me a bit to realize. I was too scared to tell you because I was scared to ruin our friendship, but I just can’t hold it in any longer. I Draco Lucius Malfoy am in love with you Emi Aphrodite Grindelwald” He bursts out. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Draco, the boy I had been madly in love with since I first laid my eyes on him has just admitted his feelings towards me. I didn’t know what to say. I just sat there with wide eyes. “Please say something, anything” Draco says in a worried tone. I pull myself out of whatever shock I am currently in. “Im sorry, I'm just in shock... Draco I feel the same way. I always have, since the day we meet.” I say still in complete shock from what he just admitted to me. My stomach in knots. This boy had full control over me at this point. Draco lets out a sigh of relief. “So, will you be mine?” he asks, still sounding a bit nervous. I smile. “Yes. yes of course” I say, more excited than I expected. He smiled a big smile. probably the biggest I have ever seen him smile. He then pulls me in and kisses my lips. Oh how I have longed for this. His lips feel even better than Imagined. so soft and gentle yet very masculine for his age. I felt if I could never get enough of it. suddenly we hear a few snickers and a “it's about damn time” coming from the corner. we turn around to see none other than Blaise and Pansy looking at us with huge stupid grins on their faces. “were you guys spying on us?” I ask letting out a laugh. “Well duh. we had to make sure you and Draco finally admitted your feelings for each other. it was getting exhausting watching you too secretly love each other” Blaise said as if it was obvious. “Yay, now we can go on double dates” Pansy said excitedly
You can't remember when it started, you only know that it did and that it slowly starts to annoy the hell out of you. Not because you don't understand fun, you really do, but you can't even spend a quiet minute with your boyfriend Draco anymore since he started acting like Fred and George Weasley, always pulling a prank on you with every possibility he got.
Some of those were actually funny and made you laugh, but at some point it just got too much. Every time you are with him now, you expect something to happen. Whether it is that he calls you to him to show you fantastic beasts that do not exist, making you look like a fool while he laughs, or that he hides two of your belongings somewhere around Hogwarts, telling you that it is actually three objects that you then have to search for like crazy. He even gave you Veritaserum once, just to ask you an endless number of questions which you inevitably had to answer. All of that you already went through. But today was somewhat different.
Draco did not pull a prank on you for weeks now, which you can not complain about at all, in fact you are quite happy about it. After his last prank you asked him to finally stop and it seems like he listened to you. Still, something feels very weird.
You haven't seen Draco today, which is rather unusual for you and your relationship because neither of you can last longer than a few hours without the other. You have just come out of your Defense Against the Dark Arts class and look around the hallway, expecting to spot him somewhere, while your classmates walk past you to head to their break. Usually, Draco always picks you up after class so that you can spend time together until your next course. But you don't see him anywhere today.
At the end of the hallway you spot Fred and George trying to sell one of their newest and greatest inventions to a first-year. You shake your head and roll your eyes. These two are probably responsible that your boyfriend had his prank phase, even though he absolutely despises every Weasley. Of course Draco would never admit it, but you think that he copied a lot from them.
"Leave the poor child alone, Weasley's", you tell them while passing them, not wanting to wait longer for Draco to pick you up. Regrettably you shouldn't have opened your mouth because all of a sudden they apparate in front of you out of nowhere, making you flinch and taking a step back. "What, Y/N? Did I hear you correctly?", George says, wiggling his eyebrows at Fred. "You really want to test our new creation?", Fred adds with a smile.
"No, thank you. I've had enough of pranks lately", you assure them with a forced smile. Obviously offended by your statement, the red haired twins cross their arms over their chest, giving you a disapproving look before vanishing again. Shaking your head, you make your way to your common room, hoping to meet Draco on the way there. Unfortunately, that does not happen and you slowly start to have a bad feeling. Where is he?
Once you arrive in the dungeons, you say the password and enter the common room, which is cosy warm in contrast to the cold corridors outside. After all, it's winter; what else should you expect from the temperature? Several Slytherin's buzz around, sitting at the green fire or studying at the tables. But still, no sign of Draco.
You spot Crabbe and Goyle on one of the sofas, who have their eyes focused on you. As soon as they realize that you look back at them, they burst into giggles and look away as if nothing happened. Their weird behavior lets you frown in confusion. Before you can confront them about it, Pansy suddenly appears right in front of you and thus into your field of vision.
"Y/N! We want to go down to the lake in a few minutes. It's frozen solid for the first time this year! Do you want to join us?", she offers, her outfit already perfectly adapted to the cold temperature outside. "Do you know where Draco is?", you blurt out, not answering to her question at all. "No? Why would I?", Pansy responds irritated.
You loudly breathe out. "Nevermind. Enjoy your trip to the lake", you wish her and give her a small smile, then walk past her and towards your room in the girls' dormitories. You don't miss the look that Crabbe and Goyle give you as well as their giggles when you make your way out of the big room though.
While walking your gaze falls on something laying on the ground and you immediately stop in your tracks abruptly. You bend down and pick it up in amazement, a now much bigger smile forming on your lips. In your delicate hand you're now holding a rose petal. Looking in front of you, you notice more rose petals on the floor. They seem to show you the way to your room.
It must have been Draco, he definetely wants to surprise you after a stressful day, you are sure about that. Quickly and with unbelievable enthusiasm you follow the path to your closed door. You imagine how you will open the door and come into your room, there will be a romantic atmosphere with warm candlelight and Draco will lovingly greet you, hug you and kiss you until-
SPLASH
You have just opened the door when suddenly a huge mass of cold water falls down on you, completely soaking you from head to toe. Because of the shock and the sudden coldness surrounding you, you gasp for air. In front of you, you do not see your desired romantic atmosphere or any candles, but only your laughing boyfriend.
"I got you again!", Draco rejoices and praises himself while you can only watch him in shock. You look down at yourself and lift one of your feet out of the puddle beneath you which you are now standing in. Water drips from your hair and your uniform to the floor. Your boyfriend's cheeky laugh echoes in your ears. Slowly your whole body begins to tremble, although you are not sure wheather it comes from the cold water or from the anger boiling up inside of you.
Assuming that you find the successful prank as funny as he does, he keeps laughing, not noticing your anger yet. "Fred and George did the same prank with Weaselbee the other day, so I had to try it out as well. It worked! Crabbe and Goyle helped me set it up and-"
"I hate you so much!", you scream at him angrily, no longer able to keep your anger under control. Draco's expression falls immediately, obviously not expecting this kind of a reaction. You are still stiffly standing under the door frame, stretching your arms away from your body to somehow escape the extreme cold, water still running down, even under your clothes. "Why do you never know when it's time to stop?! I thought you wanted to surprise me!"
A little taken aback, Draco slowly approaches you while you are busy with wringing out your wet hair. "Don't you dare touch me now, Draco Malfoy!", you command and he obeys your words, stopping a few inches in front of you. "Love, it was just supposed to be fun..", he mumbles dejected, insecurely rocking back and forth on his feet, slowly realizing his mistake.
"Yeah, of course. For you it's always all fun and games until someone dies!", you angrily rebuke him. "I'm completely wet, I'm damned cold, as if it wasn't already cold enough outside, and all I wanted is to spend a relaxing and nice afternoon with my boyfriend who, as always, only got nonsense in his mind and not thinks about his girlfriend's feelings!", you complain, getting rid of your wet cloak while bumping into him with your shoulder as you walk past, throwing it onto your bed. You sit down next to it on the soft mattress and take off your soaking wet shoes as well. For a few minutes there is nothing but silence between you two.
"Y/N..", Draco breaks the silence, but you just shoot him a scathing glance, your lower lip now trembling from the coldness surrounding your body. "I don't want to hear anything, Draco. Really", you scoff and roll your eyes, standing up to finally get out of your uncomfortable clothes. "Can you leave, please? I want to change", you ask him reproachfully, but he doesn't move a single bit.
"I'm responsible for this so let me help you, okay? I'm sorry", he says, sincerity in his sad voice. You can't even answer him as he already pulls out his wand and casts a spell you don't recognize. The puddles on the floor disappear and your clothes are suddenly dry again. All that is left is the unbearable cold around you. Freezing, you draw your cloak tighter around you and give Draco a very small but thankful smile.
He looks at you thoughfully before spreading his arms to invite you into a warm hug, which you gladly accept. Even though you're mad at him, he still manages to make you soften again. You wrap your arms tightly around his waist and he gently strokes your back with one hand in hopes to warm you up at least a little bit, then places a gentle kiss of the top of your head and hugs you even tighter, pulling you closer to his much warmer body. He can clearly feel your body tremble against his. "I'm really sorry, love. I hope you can forgive me for my stupid behavior..", he breathes into your ear, loosening your arms around his waist to take your ice-cold hands in his.
He closely examines your face, searching for any hint of what your answer could be like. No longer able to resist his pleading stare and shimmering gray eyes, you slowly nod to assure him that you will forgive him. Of course you will; you love him way too much to let something this silly destroy your relationship. More than happy with your answer, he cups your cheeks between his hands, his silver ring coldy pressing against your skin, and gives you a loving kiss.
"I will make up for it, I promise", he speaks against your lips after you broke the kiss, his thumb caressing your lower lip softly. "As long as you stop those stupid pranks, idiot", you roll your eyes, still feeling a tiny bit upset about the incident. A little chuckle escapes his lips and he pulls you close against him again. "Let's warm you up first, hm?", Draco whispers and before you know it he has apparated both of you back into the common room. Because everyone left to go to the lake you're now completely alone in the big room.
Without your consent, Draco pulls you onto one of the couches near the fireplace so you can warm up. With the help of a spell, he increases the flame a little more. Out of nowhere he throws you a fluffy, thick blanket and wraps you in it, your body now slowly but surely heating up.
While you're still busy making yourself comfortable, Draco extinguishes all the lights in the room except for a few candles, which dip the quiet room into a soothing light, creating a relaxing atmosphere for you two.
"Are you feeling warmer already? Do you need something else? What about a hot chocolate?", he questions you, still feeling extremly horrible for what he made you go through. "A hot chocolate sounds very nice, actually", you accept his offer, deciding to take advantage of the situation, innocently smiling at him. It does not even take him one single second and he suddenly vanishes into thin air. Shaking your head but smiling to yourself you watch the flame in the fireplace while you wait for him to return.
To your amazement, it takes him a lot longer than you expected and that just for a simple hot chocolate. After about a quarter of an hour he pops up again in front of you all of a sudden, two steaming cups in his hands. He serves you your hot drink with a cheeky smile on his face. "As requested: one perfectly hot chocolate, but not nearly as hot as you", he winks at you before making himself comfortable next to you.
"What took you so long?", you ask and take a sip, skillfully ignoring his statement. "Had to.. run a few more errands, you know. I'm a very busy man", he smirks at you, holding the, in his hands much smaller looking, cup. You look at him in disbelief and then discover a few white spots on his uniform that make you raise your eyebrows in confusion. "It's snowing outside?", you question and point to the snowflakes on his cloak that are slowly melting in the warm room. "Care to explain why you were outside?"
"Uh, well.. I just wanted to please my lovely girlfriend", he explains and takes something out of his pockets. You immediately know what it is and sit up excitedly, but before you can grab it, you pull your hand back. "That's not another one of your pranks, is it?", you pout and look in his eyes for an answer, any sign that this really is just normal candy from Honeydukes and not some experiments he bought from Fred and George.
"Come on, Y/N! They are not poisoned. Eat now or I froze myself to death out there for nothing", Draco assures you and you decide to trust him, carefully opening the candy, revealing the actually normal, delicious sweets that you love so much. Happily eating them you don't even notice at first how Draco keeps staring at you, one of his fingers nervously tapping the rim of his cup.
"Y/N?", Draco finally clears his throat, sitting up straight while you look at him with big expectant eyes. The way he pronounces your name, how the letters roll of his tongue create goosebumps all over your skin, causing you to cuddle up more into the cozy blanket, waiting for him to continue. His gaze wanders back and forth between you and his warm drink, of which he has not drunk very much yet.
He opens his mouth to say something again but notices the goosebumps on your arm, the alarm bells in his head loudly going off immediately. "Are you still cold? Wait a second!", Draco tells you, without waiting for an answer, and jumps up, running to his prefect room and coming back a few seconds later to give you one of his green Slytherin sweaters. "Here. Put it on, it will warm you up", he commands and examines you carefully as you pull it over your head, the pleasant scent of his perfume clouding your senses instantly.
Your cheeks turn a little bit red, on the one hand because of the extreme warmth that now surrounds you and on the other hand because Draco gives you such a sweet and tender look, as if you are the most beautiful and precious being in this world; which, in fact, you definetely are to him. He moves closer to you and puts his arm around your shoulders so that you can lean against his chest and snuggle up to him. Draco gently runs his fingers over your hair, over your cheeks and to your chin, which he slightly lifts up, making you look at him.
Neither of you say anything for a while, you just look each other deep in the eyes. Draco brushes one strand of hair behind your ear that fell into your face and slowly leans in. You close your eyes, waiting for him to connect your lips, but he teasingly stops shortly before, his breath fanning against your skin. "I have something for you.. as an apology", he gently whispers and you open your eyes in surprise. "You don't have to give me anything, Draco. I've already forgiven you, you know that", you smile at him, cupping one of his cheeks which makes him smile.
He takes your hand in his and squeezes it lightly, kisses your knuckles and then shakes his head with a sigh. "I know. Still, I feel bad and want to give you something. Something very meaningful and significant", he declares, reaching into his pocket once again. Eventually, his secrecy makes you kind of curious anyway and you look at his hand eagerly, waiting to see what the gift will be.
Draco pulls out a small black box covered in velvet. Your curious gaze focuses on the box, which contents are still unknown to you until he finally opens it and reveals a beautiful, gold shimmering and, above all, quite expensive looking necklace. Small moons and stars hang on it, but the real focus of the indescribably lovely piece of jewelry is in the middle. The bigger splendid pendant attached to it is none other than his name, Draco, written in an artistic curved font. Overwhelmed, your mouth drops open.
"Actually, I wanted to give it to you for our anniversary this year, as a thanks for sticking around with me for so long, no matter how stupid and silly and annoying I was. Somehow it just felt like the right moment to give it to you now", Draco explains in a calm voice, no sight of the silly boy from a few hours ago, and takes the necklace out of its box, gesturing that you should turn around so he can carefully place it around your neck. He leaves a few butterfly kisses along your neck before you turn around to him again, immediately touching the pendant with your fingertips, slightly pressing it against your soft skin.
"I thought I would give you my first name as long as I can't give you my last", Draco smiles timidly, a tear escaping from the corner of your eye as you pull him into a tight embrace. "D-Draco.. I don't know what to say.. I love you so much", you sob into his neck, placing a kiss right there. His arms wrap around you and he breathes out contentedly and somewhat relieved. "I was afraid that you would reject me..", he whispers nearly inaudible, more to himself than to you.
"I would never even think about rejecting you! But do you really promise that you will make it come true, Draco? That you will give me the honor to receive your last name?", you ask seriously, retreating a bit so you are able to look at his handsome face. A smile creeps its way onto his lips at your so serious but also hopeful facial expression. "I don't want anything more in my life than that, darling", Draco clarifies honestly and then takes the pendant with his name on it between his thumb and index finger. "This is a promise", he repeats softly and gives you a quick but loving kiss.
Despite the short kiss, you feel a pleasant warmth inside of you and the butterflies flutter around in your stomach. You put your hands around his neck and can't help but grin brightly, trying to hide it by biting down on your lower lip. Immediately, Draco's thumb comes up to your lip and stops you from doing so, looking back and forth between your shiny eyes and plump lips.
The next kiss you share is so passionate and with so much love that you forget everything around you in a matter of seconds, fading out your surroundings. Now, there is only you and Draco. And a promise that you hold close to your heart.
miss moonlight, put in a word → draco malfoy
Tumblr media
DESCRIPTION ⌙ in which draco sees the same annoying hufflepuff he’s enamored within his dreams every night, but can’t muster up the courage to talk to her in waking life. so instead he talks to the moon, telling the rock that’s miles away, everything he wants to tell her. little does he know, she does the same thing.
PAIRING ⌙ draco x fem!reader
WORD COUNT ⌙ 3k
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
its a little angsty im sorry. but im nervous abt this and have been sitting on posting it for almost a month now so please lmk if you like it :)
based off the songs talking to the moon by bruno mars and please mr sun by tommy edwards
she waves at him, her eyes holding a happy glimmer. he walks closer to her and wraps his long arms around her, pulling her close. he breathes in her scent and she giggles. it sounds like heaven. he holds her like that for what feels like forever before she pulls away.
he watches as she sits down in the grass, patting the place beside her.
“sit draco.” she commands. he complies.
“i love it when i’m asleep. you’re here and the world is so much more peaceful.” he smiles, a real true smile. not like the ones he usually gives now.
“but imagine if we were awake. the world might not be so wonderful, but we’d have each other. and the sun. and the wind. and the trees. and missus moon.” she grins, looking up at the bright blue sky.
he wants to agree, and tell her that’s all they’ll ever need. but he knows he can’t. because truth be told he needs more. he needs to know his family will be safe. he needs to know if he’ll make it out of his sixth year alive. he needs more than the sun and moon.
instead, he places his head in her lap, relishing in the way her fingers card through his hair. she sings a song he can’t place as he falls asleep.
“i love you y/n” he whispers, right before he dozes off.
that’s how the dreams usually end. he always slips off to sleep so peacefully in your arms. but when he wakes up, he’s still in the slytherin dorm, lonely and afraid.
yours end in the same way, and when you wake, you’re clutching your pillow as if it’s him. you don’t dare tell anyone about the dreams. your friends and family would think you mad. but it’s enough for you to be able to have them, even if you’re not sure if they’re shared or not.
you see the way he looks in the dining hall, potions, and in passing. he’s always so monotonous. so unlike the boy you’ve grown up with.
you of course have dreams, where he’s told you everything that has happened to him. he’s confessed to you that he’s working with voldemort, for his parents' sake. he even told you about dumbledore. but no matter how much you beg him to leave that life behind, he can't. besides, you’re dreaming all of this. who’s to say it’s even real.
so you stay away, yearning for bedtime. where you can talk to the boy you love more than anything else in the world.
you’re not sure how the dreams started but you have an idea.
and so does draco.
he reckons he must have used some sort of wandless magic the night he was thinking to himself on the astronomy tower. it had been a humid night and he was all alone. his eyes deadset on the bright moon in front of him. he had just started talking.
he knew the moon wasn’t someone that could actually listen but then again, maybe that’s what he wanted? he didn’t want someone to place any input on his situation. he just wanted to speak and let his thoughts travel into the void and maybe out from his aching head.
“i just want everything to be okay. mother deserves a son who can protect her and.. father needs me. i can’t fail.  i just wish i had someone to talk to when the sun goes down. someone kind and someone warm. i know they’re somewhere out there. but maybe all i’ll ever have is you missus moon, at night when it’s just the stars to listen in to our conversation.” the boy had mumbled, before making his way to his dorm room.
you had been having a word with missus moon that night as well, alone in your hufflepuff prefect dorm. you thought yourself lucky to have a window so that you could see the stars and the moon. you were fighting sleep and had no one else to speak to, so you watched the bright yellow moon as you recounted your troubles.
“my dreams have been so bad recently missus moon. i think it’s because i’m still so scared for everyone and myself. they say the dark lord could strike any day. i’d hate for anyone i love or even myself to end up like poor cedric. i wish i had someone to talk to, someone to understand. everyone thinks i’m crazy, but they don’t know what i know. the world is getting scary. at least when the stars light up my room i have you missus moon.” you had sighed getting off the floor and laying down in your bed.
that night draco dreamt of flower fields and you. at first, the boy wondered if maybe it was real. it seemed real. he could see you and everything around you so vividly. and the same for you, you made out his platinum hair and could smell his crisp cologne. but when the two of you awoke, you knew it couldn’t be real.
until the next night, where the both of you met again in your dreams.
“are you following me?” you had asked draco.
he narrowed his eyes at you, “how could i follow you into a dream. what a stupid thing to ask.”
“you’re supposed to be nice to me. this is my dream after all.” you had pouted.
draco snorted, “i need to stop drinking tea before bed. i’m having dreams where the people in them think they’re the ones doing the dreaming.”
“but i am the one dreaming! this is my dream. i can control it, watch!” you’d grinned, before commanding a nearby tree to grow apples.
draco’s eyes had widened, “no, this can’t be right.”
you watched as he wished for the tree to grow taller before glaring at you, “smack yourself.”
you glared back at him, “no, but you can shove your fist down your throat if you’re going to be rude.”
draco circled you, “so you don’t have to do what i tell you and neither do i. strange.”
“why would i have to do what you tell me to do in my own dream?” you’d asked.
the boy had shrugged, “maybe it’s not just your dream. maybe it’s mine too.”
that’s the most the two of you ever discussed the shared dreams. after that there wasn’t a need. you both enjoyed them. both of you needed them.
once in study hall you caught draco reading a book about dreams but you didn’t ask him about it. in truth, you were too afraid to have him label you as insane.
draco found himself wanting to speak with you too. countless times. he had grown quite fond of you after the dreams he found you in every night. so in the daytime, he would sneak glances at you. he took notice if you did your hair differently or if your makeup was done. of course, he knew he couldn’t talk to you. you’d think him mad. still, he found himself dropping subtle clues to see if you’d come over to him, like reading a ghastly book about dreams in a class the two of you shared. it hadn’t worked but he could have sworn he caught you looking his way.
draco spends hours obsessing over you, the dreams, and the few glances you would give him. but the vanishing cabinet is almost fixed and he knows it’d be foolish to speak to you now. no matter how much he wishes to run into your arms and tell you to take him away from here, he won’t.
it’s a dreary day in june and you’re getting snacks for some of the first years when you hear it. maniacal laughter and breaking glass. your first thought is to check on your house. you rush into the hufflepuff common room and make sure everyone’s ok and then urge them to stay safe. they nod and bolt to their dorms.
then, you make your way to the source of the noise. the dining hall, which is torn to shreds, is crawling with death eaters. you feel lightheaded as you watch them. out of the corner of your eye, you see professor snape making his way to the astronomy tower.
curious, you quietly sneak behind him, careful not to make yourself known. you hear a voice above you. a voice you recognize.
draco.
you’re trying your hardest to figure out what he’s saying but you can’t. all the sounds around you are blending together and you can’t seem to calm down enough to hear anything. when the professor reaches the tower, underneath the scene of whatever is going on, you stay behind.
in a flash, the teacher is out of your vision and upstairs in the chaos.
“severus, please.” is all you hear before the killing curse bolts out of snape’s mouth.
you stand in shock as the footsteps trail out of the tower. draco. snape. dumbledore. death eaters. it was all so much.
“y/n! are you ok?” a watery-eyed harry potter asks from beside you. you don’t even question how he got here or if he saw what you did. instead, you fling your arms around him and stare at the wall petrified. no tears can escape your eyes, you’re in disbelief.
“come on. you have to breathe and we have to get down there. get your wand ready. we have to do something!” he shouts, voice breaking.
you look at him for a second before he bolts out of the room, wand in hand.
instead of trying to fight, talking to anyone about what you saw, or even going to look at your headmaster’s dead body like everyone else, you slip quietly into your prefects dorm.
you watch the moon until she’s gone and when you see mr sun the tears finally fall. you mumble, “talk to him please, mr sun.”
draco glanced at the blinding sun from the malfoy garden, where he had spent the night. he couldn’t be in that house. not after everything that happened. so instead, he sat in the garden thinking of his best thoughts, you.
he watches the sunrise, listens to the winds and the robins singing, and mutters to himself, “tell her how i feel. it shouldn’t end this way. since you are all her friends, she’ll listen to whatever you have to say.”
a baby robin sings a little louder, almost like it’s agreeing, and it causes the boy to cry.
it’s an eerily quiet early morning in the room of requirement on the second of may. you’re in the back of the room, trying to sleep. sleep has become your only form of happiness. your dreams have become a wonderful fairytale. draco is still prevalent and he holds you tighter and tighter with each night.
almost as soon as you drift to bed, you hear gasps. you look up to find harry, ron, and hermione. without a care in the world, you rush to the three just like everyone else. harry gives you a weak smile and you return it.
the three of them explain that today is the day. today is the day the world is split into two and voldemort attacks. plans are arranged and everyone holds each other close.
selfishly, you wish you could see draco.
minutes later, a meeting is called by snape in the dining hall. You watch as neville and ginny procure robes for the green-eyed boy and walk to the hall.
the carrows look at everyone with malice in their eyes as snape drones on about a sighting of harry in hogsmeade. soon after, harry shows himself and begins arguing with the black-haired man. he tells everyone about the night in the astronomy tower.
mcgonagall throws curses at the man along with harry before he flies out of the hall. The woman looks at all of us, eyes wide but determined.
in a rush, everyone is scattered about. you follow neville to the bridge and help as much as you can. when the death eaters, led by greyback, enter hogwarts, you stand your ground. you’re ready to fight.
draco easily locates blaise and goyle before heading off to find his wand and harry potter. his chest aches with looming fear but he tries to repress it the most he can.
“i guess this is it boys.” blaise sighs.
draco looks at his friend, “we’ll be fine. just stay safe and together. don’t go weak on me now zabini.”
you’re doing your best to fight off corban yaxley but every time you’re ready to throw a killing blow his way he narrowly hits you with the killing curse. your fighting in a state of pure unadulterated anger. it’s been hours of fighting but your anger remains.
“stupid little girl, you’ll be dead before nightfall.” yaxley spits before hitting you with a weak spell.
you still double over a bit, but hold your ground enough to raise your wand and hit him with the cruciatus curse. in the corner of your eye you watch professor flintwick begin dueling the vicious man, before running inside the castle.
fire burns everywhere around draco. he’s about to turn to blaise and say his goodbyes before potter snatches him up and leads him out of the room of requirement. the second he’s on the ground he makes a run for it. he loses blaise on the way and can’t seem to figure out where to go. he’s on the second floor, tears are pooling out of his eyes and the ache in his chest has grown when his body collides with another.
you fall back, hitting your head against the hard stone of the castle floor. when you look up, your vision is hazy and shaky.
“y/n?”
you know that voice. it’s the same voice you’ve heard every single night for a year.
“draco?” you ask, hands reaching out.
“you’re bleeding. let me help,” he says before gently healing your head.
you stare at the boy, “you know it feels weird to see you. i’ve never really spoken to you besides the dreams.”
his eyes grow wide, “you know about those?”
you smile a little, “yeah, i do.”
the two of you find yourselves entering the great hall, helping whoever you two can.
draco is comforting a teary-eyed second year when blaise zabini comes in, eyes bloodshot and clutching his right arm.
you watch as the two embrace, pulling apart so that draco can tend to his arm.
minutes that feel like hours pass as the three of you silently process the commotion going on around you.
a tattered luna lovegood emerges through the rubble and towards the three of you.
“everyone’s outside now- harry he... i think you all should come with me.” her shaky voice requests.
draco looks to you and nods, helping you rise. his hand grasps yours and you all follow luna outside.
all around you is destruction. the place you’ve called home for years in now a bruised battleground and at the very center of it stands the man you’ve come to fear more than anything in the world. voldemort.
“harry potter, is dead.” the creature laughs.
you grip draco tighter and he looks at you with an expression of sorrow.
“from this day forth you put your faith in me. and now is the time to declare yourself! come forward and join us. or die.” the man spits, smiling at the broken faces opposite him.”
it is quiet for just a moment before lucius malfoy calls for his son. you watch the man and his wife plead with him. but his hand remains in yours and feet right beside you.
you look up at him and give him your brightest smile, a smile you would give him in dreams. as he peers down at you he knows that nothing in the world means more to him than you and that smile he’s spent hours telling missus moon about.
“you insolent boy, draco!” the snake-like man hisses.
you turn to face him, eyes wide with fury and hate.
neville begins limping toward the band of villains.
“i’d like to say something.” the boys breathes out.
voldemort smirks at him, “well neville i’m sure we’d all be fascinated to hear what you have to say.”
“you’re wrong! harry’s heart did beat for us, for all of us!” and with that, he pulls the sword of godric gryffindor out of the sorting hat he’s been clutching and aims it at the deatheaters and their leader.
draco’s head cranes in harry’s direction, and in an instant, the boy flies out of hagrid’s arms and throws a spell at voldemort.
you cry out along with everyone else before watching voldemort’s followers disappear.
“come on, we’ve fought enough. i won’t let you die now!” draco commands, leading you to the bridge.
you follow, but turn to look at the castle one last time. draco stops as well and you see him meet ron and hermione’s gaze. ron nods his head and draco returns the gesture.
“let’s go draco.” you sigh.
he didn’t know he’d see you again. the two of you had gone to your home to bathe and sleep and when the boy found himself in his dreams, he saw you.
you smile at the platinum haired boy, “sit draco.”
he complies.
“i hope you haven’t gotten tired of seeing me. i suppose it will be a lot now. to have me in waking and in sleep.” you giggle.
draco stares at you deeply, “i could never get tired of you. i’ve spent a year talking to the moon, trying to get you. in hopes you're on the other side, talking to me too. i’ve asked the sun to tell you all the things i couldn’t, the wind to whisper all the things i love about you, all the rainbows to make you smile, and the trees to take you under their branches. i’d want nothing more than this.”
you lean your head on his shoulder, “i’m here now and we have eternity to tell eachother the things we haven’t said yet.”
the two of you can’t help but to stare at the moon some nights, silently thanking missus moonlight for putting in a word.
summary: Staying at Hogwarts for the holidays seemed like the best way to avoid distractions, but with the Marauders there, distractions were guaranteed. Especially when your crush on Remus proves to be incredibly distracting.
cw: underage drinking (hangover vomiting), swearing (harmless, classic Sirius things)
(8k) (haven’t written this much in so long wow i forgot i could)
----------
The Gryffindor common room was your most favorite place in Hogwarts. It was warm and comforting, and you had some of your best memories there. With just a glance around the room you could feel your entire school career in just one room.
Though, now that you were in your sixth year, it wasn’t the leisurely place it used to be.
All around you, books touched any bare surface there was. N.E.W.T.’s were sooner than you’d like, sooner than anyone liked, and you were filled with anxiety. You knew your strenuous studying was a bit soon, but you felt like you had the weight of the world on your shoulders.
You felt so stressed, in fact, that not even Lily Evans could convince you to go home for the holidays that Christmas.
“Exams are months away, Y/n!” she sighed as you fell down onto the couch beside her, narrowly returning before curfew from the library, “You ought to enjoy Christmas.”
“I will enjoy it. Here,” you said, rolling your head back and closing your eyes.
You felt sore, as if you had run a marathon, but you had been locked away in the library all day.
Part of you, the smallest part, blamed Remus Lupin for this newfound obsession. Your fellow Gryffindor, the most studious boy in your year, was the initial reason for your new studying habits. You had started going to the library in an attempt to steal glances at him, an innocent crush that you most definitely let overcome you.
Remus had always gone to the library, you knew that, but ever since your O.W.L.’s he seemed to take extra pride in his work. You couldn’t blame him for secluding himself in the library, for that was the only place on campus that it seemed his rowdy friends did not go.
“You can’t enjoy Christmas alone,” Lily tutted, pulling the massive textbook off your lap and putting it on the table in front of you.
“You’re staying for the holidays, too?”
Sirius had just bounded down the stairs from the boys dormitories, his usual mischievous smirk on his face.
“Yes, they are,” Lily answered for you, turning to look at Sirius as he hovered behind you near the stairs.
“Well, that’s lucky,” he said, acting as if he had a secret he took pride in no one else knowing.
“Why is that, Sirius?” Lily sighed, becoming annoyed.
“Remus, James, Peter, and I are staying, too,” he said, smirk turning into a boyish smile.
“You are?” you opened your eyes and turned to face him, finally.
He met your gaze and nodded excitedly, seeming to already have the Christmas spirit in him.
“So you won’t be alone!” Lily said excitedly, then turned towards Sirius with a more dull tone, “Not the best company, but at least not alone.”
Sirius scoffed in mock offence, scrunching his face up with imaginary tears as he stomped back up the stairs.
“God, that lot is so bizarre,” she groaned, turning back to you on the couch to see you dozing off.
(-)
Snow fell on the grounds of Hogwarts, and you gazed at it from a fogged up window in the library.
Lily had gone, Mary had gone, Marlene had gone, just about everyone had gone. You had never stayed at Hogwarts for the holidays before, and you knew not many people did, but you expected more than there were.
No Slytherins had stayed, which was a welcomed absence from those who did. You knew the two Hufflepuffs that remained, but only because you had classes with them in your fourth year. The Ravenclaws that stayed, there couldn’t have been more than five of them, were often holed up the in the library with you. There were the most Gryffindors, five, including you and the marauders.
You were almost surprised that James had gone through with staying; Remus had mentioned wonderful things about the Potters and the Christmases they hosted. Still, he was here, cheerful as ever.
As your eyes blurred with tiredness and the window became nearly too fogged to see through, you sighed in frustration.
You missed your family, you missed home, and you really regretted staying at school. You decided to give yourself the day off from studying. With a glance down at your watch, you saw it was nearly lunch time anyways. You had slept in and missed breakfast, coming straight to the library, and your stomach felt empty.
You made your way to the common room, wanting to drop off the heavy books you had accumulated. Mumbling the password to the portrait, you stumbled through without noticing the rowdy conversation coming towards you.
You ran right into James’ chest, stumbling back and already mumbling an apology.
“Y/n?” he asked happily, as if he had been looking for you.
“Hey, guys,” you sighed, forcing a polite smile when all you really wanted to do was collapse on the couch and sleep for days.
“Sirius told us you were staying, but I’d thought you’d changed your mind. Haven’t seen you since the holiday started!” James’s booming and joyful voice made you want to cringe away, but you couldn’t manage anything less than a small smile at his kindness.
 “I’ve been in the library,” you explained, chuckling at the horrified look on three of the four faces.
“You’re worse than I’d thought,” Sirius started, cut off by a sharp elbow to the ribcage by Remus, which only seemed to encourage him.
“We can’t have that,” James finished for him, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
“Oi,” Remus started, casting a sympathetic smile at you as he tried to stop his friends from potentially insulting you.
“Why don’t you come have lunch with us?” Peter squeaked from behind James as he glanced at the two dark-headed boys for some sort of approval, “We were just on our way down.”
“What a great idea, Wormtail!” Sirius boomed, earning himself another elbow to the side from Remus.
You glanced nervously at the boys in front of you, trying to discern if they were setting you up for a joke or teasing you.
“You don’t have to-” Remus blurted out, his cheeks pink, “-I mean, if you’re busy with your studies. I know how hard your working-”
“Nonsense, Moony!” James smiled, levitating your bag off your shoulder and easily landing it on the floor somewhere behind him, “they have to eat!”
You chuckled, ducking your head down as James slung his arm around your shoulder and escorted you back through the portrait hole.
You felt lighter immediately. Whether it was the absence of your heavy bag, or the way the boys’ easy conversation and laughter felt so inviting and warm, you did not know.
The self-pity you had been feeling only a moment ago seemed to go, too. James kept his brotherly arm around your shoulder all the way to the Great Hall, where he split his path and sat across from you. Sirius followed you down the isle, continuing his teasing conversation with Peter. James sat between Remus and Peter, his smile never faltering. He acted as if eating lunch with his mates and their tag-along was the best thing he had ever done.
Remus was quiet, almost shy, but you knew that. You had known him your entire time at Hogwarts, and the crush you had on him seemed to last that whole time. You had seen him come out of his shell as the years went on, but he didn’t seem nearly as comfortable as when he was with his friends.
You stifled your laughter with the back of your hand, blushing slightly at Sirius’s rude joke as he bumped his shoulder into yours. You looked down at your plate, pushing around the mashed potatoes that had grown cold.
“Sirius!” Peter yelped, his eyes wide in shock as he nervously glanced to you.
Sirius had made a crude joke, you knew that, but you hadn’t heard it. You and Remus had been meeting in short bursts of eye contact and the small action alone was making your spine shiver.
You looked up from your potatoes, seeing the boys fading with laughter and delve back into their food. That was something you never understood about boys; they sat down, ate and ate until they were done, and then got to talking. You, Lily, Marlene, and Mary could talk for hours while you ate, but the boys seemed unable to do more than one thing at once.
The thought brought a fond smile to your face, and you felt something bump against your shin. Looking up from your plate, you met Remus’s eyes again.
“What’s got you smiling?” he asked, his voice kind with a teasing nature behind it.
James looked up from his plate in the middle of shoving what had to be an entire chicken breast in his mouth, and began cooing at you as your cheeks flushed.
“’M just happy you lot stayed,” you blushed, refusing to meet Remus’s eyes, “would have been dreadful without your company.”
Sirius, without missing a beat, threw his arm around your shoulders and drew you into his chest. His large hand went to your head, ruffling up your hair. You cringed away, giggling and attempting to lay your hair smooth.
Everyone’s cheers in agreeance died down, and James roped Sirius into a heated discussion about Quidditch as Peter hung onto his every word.
“‘M happy you stayed, too,” Remus mumbled from across the table, his head ducked down as a blush was creeping up the back of his neck.
You fought the urge to break the eye contact, giving him a smile so wide that your cheeks burned.
You all returned to the common room with full stomachs and wide smiles, courtesy of James, who had just announced his newest plan at getting Lily’s attention. You just finished listing off all the reasons she would hate it, and he clambered through the portrait hole with a dazed smile that a lovesick puppy would have.
You trailed behind the boys, watching them all fall onto comfortable couches and armchairs. You looked at your limp backpack indignantly, choosing instead to follow them.
You curled up in an armchair that was across a large couch occupied by James and Sirius and to the left of another armchair occupied by Peter. Peter leaned forwards to rest his elbows on his knees, setting up a new chess game for him and Remus to play. Remus sat on the ground, eyelevel with the board. He noticed you looking at him and gave you a kind smile that made you look away, blushing.
The night was spent in leisure. You had barely wanted to get up for dinner, even Sirius suggested making Peter go down to the kitchens so they wouldn’t all have to go to the hall. In the end, you all went, having just as much of a good time as you did at lunch.
You wished them a goodnight after you fell asleep watching Sirius and Remus levitating the most valuable things they could find in the room, sending Peter into anxious fits every time they pretended to loose their balance. You groggily walked up the stairs to the dormitories, leaving your homework downstairs with a satisfied sigh.
For a few moments before you fell asleep again, Remus’s brilliant and bright smile was burned behind your eyes.
(-)
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Sirius groaned, throwing himself dramatically onto the couch with a huff.
“Shud up,” Remus groaned, falling into the armchair you had been sitting in. He could smell you on the chair, your scent floating into his nose like it was intoxicating.
“Really botched that one, mate,” James said with a chuckle, picking up a few of his Quidditch magazines off of the floor and putting them back on the coffee table, where Peter had accidentally knocked them off.
“Romance is confusing! How was I supposed to know?!” Remus groaned, lifting his head from his hands with a desperate look.
James gave him a knowing smirk, and Sirius groaned again.
“It was obvious! You always offer to walk a romantic interest home,” Sirius said, twirling his wand in his hand.
“They were just going upstairs,” Peter mumbled, seeming to agree with Remus.
“It’s alright, Moony,” James said, standing from the couch with a look of determination, “you’ve got all week to seduce them.”
“Shud up,” Remus groaned, repeating his request from earlier.
His eyes fell to the stairs you had climbed moments ago, remembering the peaceful look on your face as you slept, the adorable stretch you did once you woke up, the tired way you climbed the stairs, and that beautiful smile you gave them when you said goodnight.
Remus decided to stay in the common room for a bit longer once his friends had went upstairs, trying to force every second from the time you spent together that day into his memory permanently.
(-)
You woke up feeling more rested than you had in weeks. The sun was barely in the sky when you opened the curtains, your unusually empty room flooded with orange light. You dressed quickly, donning muggle clothes that you found incredibly comfortable.
You went down to the common room, seeing that the mess the boys had made last night was either cleaned by them or house elves. There was no sign of life in the Gryffindor tower, besides yourself, so you assumed the four were still soundly asleep upstairs.
You found your backpack, overflowing with loose papers, and shrugged it onto your shoulders. You had decided to get some work done today, seeing as your day off the day before was not scheduled.
You ate a quick breakfast in the empty hall, finding it odd and strangely discomforting to be in such a large room by yourself. It felt as if you were out past curfew.
The library was the same case. Madam Pince was not even at her desk yet, and you settled into a table by the window. You opened it a sliver, enjoying the cold winter air that seeped into the room. The sunlight warmed you, and the wind was gentle enough to not rustle your papers.
You dove into your work, feeling considerably better than yesterday, or the past month. Your muscles were loose, and the pressure you had been putting on yourself was no longer there. One night of fun proved to be harmless, and so did the marauders.
You smiled at the thought of it, at the thought of your little day with Remus. He had been so kind to you, so funny and charming. You had never liked someone as much as you liked Remus.
You found your gaze drifting out the window, looking past the castle and Hagrid’s hut and out into the Forbidden Forest. You couldn’t think of anything but the curly headed, dirty blonde boy. The way his eyes nervously darted to yours, his sheepish smile. The way he could easily make James, Sirius, and Peter fall into doubled-over laughter, almost as if good-naturedness came to him as easily as walking did.
The sun rose in the sky, and it was almost time for lunch. Even with your mind distracted, you had gotten done more work than you had expected. You decided that if the boys asked you to have lunch with them again, you wouldn’t decline.
It was as if your thoughts were read, because just as you were organizing your papers to put them away, Remus walked into the library. You fumbled a bit, realizing you smudged some fresh ink on your newly written Potions notes. You didn’t care, though, smiling widely and waving Remus over.
“Alright?” he asked groggily, rubbing his eyes as if he had just woken up.
“Yeah, you?” you couldn’t help but stare at him. His voice was deep and thick with sleep, and he pulled the sleeves of his sweater over his slender hands. He had a muggle novel tucked under his arm, and he put it on the table as he sat down across from you.
“Eh,” he started, looking at you with slight amusement, “James woke up at the crack of dawn to go to the pitch, and he woke up Sirius when he did. Sirius is a git if he gets woken up before noon.”
“That’s not a surprising piece of information,” you chuckled, setting down your papers and getting comfortable in your seat again.
“Yeah, best to stay out of the dorm when Sirius is in a mood. Peter went to ask for some extension on a paper he forgot to do,” Remus smiled fondly at his friends flaws, opening his book and propping it on his knee, “so I figured I’d come find you.”
“You found me,” you opened your ink bottle and dipped your quill into it, going over your Potions notes and fixing the smudged ink.
You were a bit disappointed by Remus’s reasons for coming to see you. Part of you had hoped he missed you, or enjoyed your presence. But the truth was that you were his only other option for company. Your chest deflated slightly as you stole a glance at him only to find him deeply invested in his book. Many conversation starters bubbled in your throat but you couldn’t bring yourself to voice any of them.
It was about an hour of silence in the library before Remus suggested lunch. He helped you pack up your things, humming under his breath as he led the way out of the library.
Lunch was soup, which you didn’t mind too much. Sirius was already at the table with James when you arrived. Remus sat next to you, across from his friends.
Sirius had his head propped up in his hand, lazily bringing soup to his mouth before dropping the spoon into the bowl with a clatter as his eyes fluttered shut. James rolled his eyes, shoving the bowl of soup away from him and wiping up the splattered mess from the table.
James eagerly dove into a cheery conversation about his solo Quidditch practice, and Remus reluctantly listened. You felt as exhausted as Sirius looked, even though you had a wonderful nights sleep. You hadn’t felt so tired until your upsetting thoughts about Remus, but now you could barely keep your eyes open. You hadn’t been sitting for more than ten minutes, your soup was barely eaten, but you just wanted to curl up in your dorm.
Peter came into the hall, filing down the row where you had Remus were sitting. He was getting close, and you stood.
“Here, Peter, have my seat,” you said, slowly standing as James’ face contorted with confusion. You could see him working out pleas for you to stay, and your heart warmed a bit.
“I’m gonna have a lay down,” you excused, not waiting for Sirius’s head to lift from his hand or for James to suggest all of you walking back together.
As you walked away, you heard Peter begin to chat about his essay extension.
(-)
Remus knew he had done something wrong. He knew it.
You had seemed happy to see him, you smiled at him, you were friendly, but at some point he said something to make you close off. He was looking forward to spending the morning in the library with you. He had made up the excuse of getting out of the dorm, knowing that with Pete and James gone and Sirius out cold, it would be fairly peaceful. Remus, however, wanted to see you.
You looked heavenly dressed in casual muggle clothes with the morning sun lighting your face. He was happy to sit with you, but you didn’t seem happy to sit with him.
He wondered if you were bothered by him and his friends. If yesterday hadn’t been as fun as he thought it was, and if you just wanted to be left alone. He felt a surge of annoyance with James for being so forward, but quickly drowned that out. It wasn’t James’s fault.
Remus stared into his bowl of soup, not listening to Pete as he complained about the essay he had to write.
James indulged Pete, listening to his complaints with sympathy as he dipped his bread into his soup. Sirius, however, could not be bothered.
He had come to attention when you left the table, watching your hunched shoulders and nervous hands pushing your hair off your face. He had even caught your sad glance over you shoulder at Remus before you finally turned to go upstairs. Sirius was thinking, he was thinking hard. He could read you and Remus like an open book. He had known you liked Remus since you started showing up to the library whenever Remus did, no matter how subtle you thought you were being.
Sirius looked at his friend, confusion knitted in his eyebrows as he hunched over his food. He gasped silently, catching James’s attention, as his eyes lit up with an idea.
(-)
For the next couple of days, it was not hard to avoid your fellow housemates. James and Sirius seemed to be sneaking off as often as they could, clutching their cloaks close to them as if they had something underneath them.
You avoided Remus, who presumably only had Pete to keep him company now, by staying in your dorm. The library wasn’t the only place you could study, and you spread your books all across Lily’s bed. You had begun to enjoy studying in your dorm, it was private and quiet, with no Madam Pince staring you down from her desk.
It wasn’t that you disliked the marauders’ company, because you didn’t. You really liked hanging out with the boys. You had just wanted to prevent any more heartache when hanging out with Remus. You had obsessed over your last interaction in the library, convincing yourself it would be best to stay away from the boy as to not attach yourself any further.
It was nearing the weekend, Christmas on the upcoming Saturday. You didn’t want to be in solitude on Christmas, but your pride prevented you from asking to hang out with the boys. You didn’t know what Sirius and James were up to, and you didn’t want to know. You didn’t feel like hanging out with Peter, because being in his presence alone made you just as anxious as he was. And Remus, Remus was an entirely different story. Just seeing Remus made your heart race unnervingly.
On Thursday night, you crept down the dormitory stairs and into the common room. You stopped and waited to hear for Peter and Remus, but it seemed they were still in their room. You were going down for an early dinner, hoping to eat quickly before everyone else came down.
You seemed to be successful, your plate was nearly cleared and there was no sign of anyone else. You were serving yourself pudding, your favorite pudding, when someone sat across from you.
You looked up. Your throat closed involuntarily, and your spoon froze on it’s way to your mouth. You straightened your back, eyes widening at the sight of him, and wiped your mouth nervously with your napkin.
“Hey, Remus,” you said, smiling politely at him as he began to dish himself food, “where are the rest of the boys?”
“Just me,” he said, his voice sounding a little higher than usual.
“Are you alright?” you watched him carefully as you noticed his posture was straighter than usual.
“Yeah,” he chuckled, looking at you now.
You looked at him, squinting your eyes. He seemed off, but you figured he could be nervous without his friends around.
“Okay,” you trailed off, returning to your pudding.
“Haven’t seen you much, recently,” he said confidently, the usual softness in his voice absent.
“I’ve just been up in my dorm,” you said, still gazing at him cautiously.
“Don’t want to spend time with Sirius, James, and I?”
You bit your lip, looking at him with a serious expression. Remus never excluded Peter when he was talking about his friends, but Sirius often did. You noted it, unsure what that could mean. Had Remus asked Sirius on advice at how to talk to you? The thought made you suppress nervous giggles.
“No, it’s not that,” you felt your cheeks warm under his blatant stare, “you know how crazy I am about the N.E.W.T.’s.”
Remus chuckled under his breath, slowly eating his pudding. This was also weird, because Remus usually devoured any food in front of him as if he was a starving animal.
“Remus, are you sure your alright?” you squinted at him, dropping your spoon and propping your chin up with your hand.
“Yes, I’m fine,” he said nonchalantly, squinting back at you.
He had remarkably less patience and ease than usual.
“Okay, well, I’m done eating. I think I’ll go back to the tower now,” you stood slowly, watching his face contort with urgency.
“Wait!” he called, standing too, “wait, come sit for a second.”
You joined him again, clearly suspicious. You wondered if he was distracting you while the boys set up a prank.
“I need to ask you something,” he whispered seriously, leaning closer to you over the table.
“What?”
“Do you fancy me?” he smirked at you, mischief in his eyes.
At first you wanted to shrink away, blush madly and sputter out lies to conceal your true feelings. But you didn’t. You kept his stare, a blank face looking into his daring one. You decided to make a guess.
“Sirius?” you said confidently, so it didn’t sound like a wild guess. You knew it was crazy. Surely, Sirius would never transfigure into his best friend to eat dinner alone with you and ask him about your feelings for him. Surely.
“How did you know!?” he asked, his voice now completely Sirius’s instead of his weird imitation of Remus’s voice.
“What!?” you questioned back, surprised that you were right, “It’s actually you, Sirius?”
Sirius’s face, well, still Remus’s face, dropped with disappointment, upset that he gave himself away.
“Yes,” he mumbled, moving his hand to tuck his hair behind his ear, only to remember Remus’s hair wasn’t that long.
“What are you playing at? How did you do this?” you motioned your hands at him, sounding more amazed than angry.
“Polyjuice Potion,” he said mischievously, his eyes meeting yours at the tone of your voice.
“That’s really advance stuff, Sirius,” you said, slightly impressed as you leaned back and crossed your arms.
“I had some help,” he said sneakily, and suddenly what he and James had been sneaking off for made sense.
“Are you two planning something? Testing out the costume on me?” you said excitedly, hoping the boys would let you in on whatever prank they had planned.
“Well, about that,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, “you sort of were the plan.”
You looked at him, confused. It felt weird to be talking so casually with Remus, and you fought the urge to blush every time he looked at you, knowing it was actually Sirius.
“I know you fancy Remus,” Sirius said, sounding a bit guilty.
This time, you could not resist shrinking away and blushing. You looked down at your lap, feeling incredibly embarrassed.
“But,” Sirius started again, his voice oddly comforting and kind, “I know Remus likes you, too.”
Your eyes shot up to meet Sirius’s, your face becoming somehow even more flushed.
“You were trying to get me to admit it to you? That I like him?” you asked him, heart racing.
“I just wanted you to confirm it,” he said, sounding even more guilty, “I didn’t want to try and set you two up if you didn’t like him back-”
“Set us up?!” you interrupted, eyes wide.
“Yeah,” he said casually.
“How do you plan on doing that, then?” You tried to sound annoyed in an attempt to hide just how excited you were.
Sirius had waved over James immediately, who has hiding behind a pillar in the courtyard looking in on you and Sirius. The two began talking almost as animatedly as two schoolgirls stricken with an exciting prospect of romance.
You watched, lazily propping your chin on your hand as they rambled on about the ways they thought you should confront Remus.
James had been quite keen on them influencing Remus to confront you, and Sirius reckoned you ought to “grow a pair” and kiss him yourself. James was nearly affronted by the idea, insisting on a classic and romantic gesture from Remus’s behalf.
Either way, you couldn’t fight an embarrassed blush that seemed permanently glued onto your cheeks. You swallowed heavily at any mention of kissing, which was being discussed at length. You had half a mind to stop the hopeful ramblings, but James and Sirius were Remus’s best friends, they had to be somewhat right about his feelings for you.
The conversation got remarkably easier, too, once the potion had warn off and it was Sirius in front of you instead of a fake Remus.
You looked into the courtyard, enjoying the cold air lofting into the room through the open doors, when you noticed Remus and Peter entering the room. The cold air had been helping in cooling your cheeks, but at the sight of Remus’s wide and carefree smile, they warmed immediately.
“Shut up!” you mumbled harshly to the still ranting dark-haired boys in front of you, kicking them each in the shin for good measure.
They looked offended, but Sirius caught your eye and smirked once he realized why they were silenced.
“Have you guys eaten already?” Peter asked, sounding disappointed as he sat next to you and saw your empty bowl of pudding.
“Just had an early lunch,” James said merrily, moving to scoop himself another bowl of pudding after he had eaten an entire lunch while he and Sirius were talking, “but we’ll stay while you guys eat.”
You swallowed hard, looking at James with wide eyes as he quirked an eyebrow at you. You were planning on leaving the second Remus sat between James and Sirius, right across from you, but now you couldn’t be so obvious.
“Haven’t seen you in a while, Y/n,” Peter mumbled from beside you, stuffing his face with a large heaping of peas.
You looked to Remus almost automatically, only to see him looking questioningly at you. You couldn’t resist the small smile that flirted on your lips as he averted your gaze quickly.
“I can’t get much work done with you lot around,” you teased, clearing the table in front of you and resting your elbows there, “I’ve been in my dorm, most days.”
“What about for Christmas?” Peter pried curiously, “Will you leave your dorm for Christmas?”
“Of course they will!” James boomed from across the table, causing a few tired looking Ravenclaws who were just coming in to glare at him apprehensively, “Starting Christmas Eve, they won’t be able to get rid of us.”
“Oh,” you looked to him, eyebrows raised in entertainment, “I won’t?”
Remus looked between you and James with an excited smile.
“Of course not,” Sirius said for James, picking a carrot off of Peter’s plate from across the table.
“For a limited time,” James said mysteriously, “you will have the honor of becoming a temporary Marauder.”
“They what?” Peter said from his goblet of pumpkin juice, causing some to splash back in his face.
“Peter!” Sirius groaned, annoyed with the boy, “Get in the holiday spirit!”
“Don’t worry Pete, just for a limited time. The holidays are a season of extending great charity to others,” James said, talking with humor in his tone.
“Charity?” you repeated, an amused smile on your face.
“We don’t let in just anyone,” Remus said, looking only at you.
When your eyes met his, you felt all the air leave your lungs. Your jaw clenched in an attempt to gather some sort of consciousness, but all you could do was look back at Remus.
“That’s true, ‘tis a great honor,” Sirius had raised his goblet in some sort of toast, and you had barely noticed until Remus was raising his glass.
You broke the contact, finally, and sputtered for a moment before you could find your goblet on the table. You rose it, hoping to lower it quickly as you noticed a slight tremble in your hand. Remus connected his goblet with yours gently, looking at you again while you were intent on avoiding his eyes. He had some sort of knowing smile on his face, and you felt very exposed to him. It felt like he was reaching in your chest and squeezing your heart for his own pleasure, and it scared you to know you could not tell him to stop.
Christmas Eve was very celebrated amongst the boys.
So celebrated, in fact, that Sirius insisted Christmas morning was a day for hangovers.
He had brought out the firewhisky fairly early into the afternoon. James had looked at him with nervousness, but nonetheless took a heaping sip when offered a glass. You sipped casually, not feeling all too comfortable with the chaos that seemed to lurk in Sirius’s eyes.
By the time the sun was beneath the horizon, Sirius and James were dancing some sort of Irish jig on a table, and Peter was very angrily talking to himself in a mirror. You and Remus, neither of you having very much to drink, sat comfortably on a couch, watching the night unfold.
“Why aren’t you drinking with them?” you asked Remus, glancing at his full cup and tensed shoulders.
He glanced down at you, nervously biting his lip and running a hand through his hair. Oh, how you wanted to touch his hair.
“I don’t really feel like being hungover on Christmas,” he said, noticing your full cup as well, “what about you?”
“I don’t think Lily would ever forgive me if she found out I got drunk with you lot on Christmas Eve,” you teased, smiling to yourself at the fond thought of your friend.
“I miss Lily,” Remus remarked simply, bringing his cup to his lips and taking a large gulp.
“Me too,” you sighed, doing the same and hoping it would ease your nerves, “she wrote to me yesterday. She’s having a lovely Christmas. Her sister is being awful, but that’s per usual.”
You and Remus shared a knowing smile, both thinking of the complaints you had heard from Lily about her sister.
“Have you written back yet?”
“No, not yet. I was going to wait until after Christmas,” you were waiting to write Lily back so you could thank her first for the undoubtedly wonderful present she got you. You didn’t know how, but Lily Evans always gave the most thoughtful presents.
“When you do, tell her we miss her,” Remus said softly, his cheeks beginning to flush pink as he watched with a smile his friends dancing.
You nodded, ducking your head to hide a smile.
“Oi!” James yelled, stopping his dance suddenly.
You and Remus froze as he looked at the pair of you, each wearing an entertained smile. James hopped off the table with ease, as if he was not drunk out of his mind and as if the table wasn’t a good four feet off the ground.
“Come dance,” James said once he finally reached the both of you, though, only offering you his hand.
He waved his wand at a muggle radio they had in the corner, and the volume increased. Sirius smiled widely, refreshing his drink with the dwindling amount of firewhisky left. You cautiously took James’s hand, letting him spin you as you giggled.
James caught Remus’s eye, the blonde boy watching you with adoration. James pulled you close, resting one hand on your shoulder as the other held your hand, and leaned in close to your ear.
“Moony is watching you,” he slurred, sounding excited, “I reckon he’ll make a move tonight if Sirius doesn’t finish all the liquor for himself!”
James pulled away, giggling once again like a schoolgirl. You could not help his infectious laughter, your forehead falling onto his shoulder as you laughed loudly. As if on que, Remus stood and walked with determination to Sirius. He took Sirius’s goblet and downed it, smiling widely and accomplishedly afterwards. He climbed on the table with Sirius, who had long forgotten about his stolen alcohol, and began awkwardly moving his lanky body in a way that could be called dancing in the most generous of terms. This made you laugh even more, and James had to nearly fully support your weight as your knees buckled with your hard laughter.
It was shaping up to be a lovely Christmas Eve.
(-)
Christmas, as Sirius had predicted, was a morning for hangovers. You had barely glanced at your mounds of presents at the foot of your bed, instead throwing on your warmest sweater and going immediately to breakfast.
It had been decorated, as it had all week, with great care. Today, however, the tree had been alit with wonderful and delicate decorations, sparkling under the enchanted ceiling. The entire room somehow smelled of pine, and the warm feeling of a fireplace shot down your spine when you sat down.
You cradled a cup of tea, hunching over and fighting the urge to fall back asleep at the table. You couldn’t bear to look at food yet, regretting the glasses you drank once Sirius had found that second bottle of firewhisky.
There was no sign of life in the castle, besides the lovely decorations, and you found yourself grateful.
It was as if, however, that you cursed yourself the second you thought this.
“Merry Christmas, Y/n!” James shouted from the entry way of the castle, his loud voice assaulting your ears even from such a distance. Beside him, Peter, Sirius, and Remus cringed away in pain, shrinking down and walking past him into the hall.
“Bloody. Fucking. Hell,” Sirius groaned once he sat down next to you, his head hitting the table as soon as he was still.
Remus sat on the other side of you, going at once for heaping servings of the hot food. You swallowed the vomit in your throat at the sight of so much food, forcing your eyes deep into your tea. James happily sat down next to Peter on the other side of the table, patting his friend merrily on the back. Peter winced audibly, a pained look on his face.
“How are you not hungover?” you whispered once you were sure you would not vomit.
“He never gets hungover,” Remus groaned from beside you, his mouth full of beans.
“Never?” you repeated, wincing as you reached for more tea.
“Never!” James said happily, obviously enjoying his wonderful, wonderful gift.
“Oi!” Sirius groaned, his head still buried in his arms.
James smiled.
“Eating helps, really,” Remus said from beside you, glancing an earnest look at you as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Mmmmm,” you groaned in response, ducking your head down as Sirius was doing to avoid vomiting.
“What a lovely Christmas this will be!” James said, earning a unanimous groan in response.
(-)
Getting back to the tower was a slow and painful process that included many bathroom breaks and headaches. You and Sirius had both ducked into the loo twice each to vomit, and James supposed it had something to do with climbing the stairs. Peter was limping for some reason, though you could not remember him hurting either of his legs the night before. Remus was nearly as recovered as James, just looking a bit tired.
After you were sure you had emptied your stomach of the tea you drank for breakfast, you were feeling a bit better. Your legs felt a little wobbly, and Remus must have noticed, because he offered his arm for you to steady yourself on as you walked along. Your mind was so foggy you almost had not noticed, but his strong arm beneath your fingers was enough to clear you up a little. You held him close to you, hoping the hangover was excuse enough. James gave you and encouraging smile, nodding enthusiastically. You were sure Sirius would be giving you a smirk if he wasn’t basically crawling down the halls.
Once you reached the common room, Remus had not retracted his arm. In fact, he had interlocked his hand with yours, still with your arms looped, and led you over to a couch. He sat very close to you and still did not remove himself from your grasp even as you were sitting. You felt so comfortable and warm next to him, you could not help but close your eyes and let your head fall on his shoulder.
(-)
James retreated upstairs with Peter. Peter had wanted a quick and undisturbed nap, and James returned downstairs a few moments later with his practice Quidditch robes on. Sirius had collapsed on an armchair the second he crawled into the room, and showed no indication of life as he fell into a deep sleep. James gave Remus an encouraging smile and two thumbs up, but did not dare to speak in case you weren’t asleep. Remus rolled his eyes, but was truly quite happy with the position he had found himself in.
Your arms were looped, hands intertwined, and your head rested delicately on his shoulder. He leaned his head against yours, breathing in the smell of your shampoo.
He had wanted to stay there forever.
(-)
When they all awoke, James was out of his Quidditch robes and in a thick wool sweater. He was polishing his broom with what looked like a new polishing set, perched on the armrest of a couch across from you and Remus. You had woken up when Sirius did, his loud yawns and stretches filling the room. When you lifted your head, you bumped into Remus’s head, and he woke up. Your cheek felt sore from pressing into his strong shoulder, and you looked down at you hands to see them still interlocked. You were sweaty and tired, but Remus looked down at you sleepily with complete happiness.
“Happy Christmas, you lazy bones,” James tutted like a mother would, putting down his broom and standing.
“Happy Christmas,” Remus said, smiling widely.
You sat up, removing yourself from Remus. He untangled your arms, removing his hand from yours. You felt sad at the absence, looking down at your lonely hand. Remus was looking too, and when you met his eyes he bit his bottom lip. With some slight hesitation, he wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you in for a side hug. You lingered, and he made no move to pull away, so you stayed there, tucked under his arm.
“I never looked at my presents this morning,” Sirius said, standing from his chair and motioning for James to follow him.
“Neither did I,” you said to Remus only, hearing the other two retreating upstairs.
“Want me to walk you up to your dorm?” he offered, adjusting his body so he could see your face.
You uncurled from him, nodding excitedly.
You stood from the couch, walking over to the stairs. You waited for Remus, watching as he slowly stood and stretched. You leaned against the door frame, supporting yourself on your hands behind you. Remus came over to you, walking slowly with a sleepy and dazed look on his face.
“Happy Christmas,” he repeated, only to you this time.
“Happy Christmas,” you said, smiling at him as he leaned against the door frame opposite of you.
It was a narrow space, and there were only a few inches between you two, but neither of you made any movement. You wanted to go upstairs and see what your family had sent, what Lily had given you, what all your friends had given you, but you couldn’t tear yourself from the handsome boy in front of you.
Your eyes danced all over his face, admiring his curly and unkempt hair that fell into his dark and kind eyes, his sharp jaw that you wanted to run your fingers across, his soft lips.
You were both so entrance in each other, that neither of you had noticed the greenery sprouting from the door frame above you. It was mistletoe, sprouting from the wooden door frame between you and Remus. Remus noticed, his eyes darting up at it. He looked down at you, seeing you had not noticed it, and chuckled.
This seemed to snap you out of it, and you stood upright, coming closer to Remus. You looked up at the growing plant, eyes widening when you saw the red berry forming before your eyes.
“Mistletoe?” Remus chuckled, entertained as he reached up and brushed it delicately with his slender fingers.
“Is it?” you managed to say, watching his hand.
“It is,” he said, retracting his hand and bringing it to rest on your cheek.
He gently cupped your face, pulling you close to him until your chests met and neither of your backs were touching the door frame. You closed the distance, meeting his lips with urgency and desperation. You didn’t care if James thought Remus ought to kiss you, you wanted nothing more than to kiss Remus. And Remus wanted nothing more than to kiss you. His other hand came to your waist, pulling you flush against him as his hand on your cheek moved to the side of your neck. You reached up and slid your hands from his shoulders to this neck and into his hair, feeling the soft curls between your fingers as you had wanted to for so long.
Remus pulled you impossibly close to him, as if he wanted nothing to come between you, until his force was moving you to lean against the door frame. The feeling of the wood was unexpected, and you gasped into Remus’s mouth when you felt it. Remus took this as an invitation to deepen the kiss, and you allowed him, sighing softly as his tongue explored your mouth.
“Mistletoe?!”
You and Remus broke apart, his hands still on you even though your bodies were no longer touching. You both looked up the stairs, seeing James, Sirius, and Peter looking down at you.
Sirius had the most mischievous smirk you had ever seen, sure that it would make Lily’s skin crawl if she saw it. James seemed so content that you’d think he’d just been kissed and Peter anxiously twirled his fingers as he averted your eyes, obviously feeling bad for interrupting.
“Mistletoe,” Remus said, his voice husk and his lips wet. It took a lot of will power to not sigh at the sight of him, or pull him in by his collar and kiss him again. Instead, you looked up at the boys like a deer caught in headlights.
“You owe me ten galleons,” James said to Sirius, causing Sirius to groan.
“How do you know he kissed them?!” Sirius complained, digging in his robe pockets for the money.
“He didn’t, I kissed him,” you said, looking up at Remus and licking your lips nervously.
“Hah! Hand it over, James,” Sirius gloated, removing his hand from his pocket and holding it out to James.
James groaned, still a smile on his lips, and handed Sirius the money.
“You didn’t think I’d kiss them first?” Remus asked Sirius, pulling you into his chest in a loving and protective way.
“Sorry, mate,” Sirius said with no remorse in his voice, climbing down the stairs and pushing past you and Remus.
James and Peter followed him, all fiddling with some new gift they had gotten. You looked up at Remus, deciding your Christmas presents could wait until Boxing Day, and pulled him out of the door way. You fell onto the couch, Remus following you, and you fell easily into conversation with the boys. Remus wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into his chest.
chapter 14
"Ms. L/n?" I heard the familiar voice say from behind me. I flinched a little and then froze, not turning around, not wanting him to see me in this current state. The cold air continued to breeze by and I had a shiver go down my spine as I heard him step closer. "Y/n" he said in his smooth deep voice and my heart crumbled a little at him saying my name. "Why are you up here at this hour? You need to get back to your dormitory immediately." he said grabbing my shoulder to turn me to face him.
 I kept my head down and slowly looked up into his eyes with my now red and puffy ones. He looked a tad shocked to find me in this state and his face softened a bit. "I-im sorry professor, I couldn't sleep. I needed to clear my head." I said sniffling and avoiding eye contact. "Well, you shouldn't have left your room, it's against the rules and you know that." he said in a more quiet soft tone. "I-i know I'll go now." I said my voice shaking as I went to walk past him. He touched my shoulder with his hand and turned to face him once more. "What's troubling you?" He asked with an almost concerned voice. I just looked up into his black eyes and took in a breath trying to calm myself. I shivered as another cold breeze came through and I put my arms across my chest and looked down at my feet. He took notice and I saw him take off his robes and hesitantly drape them over my shoulders. "You are going to freeze to death up here in that." he added, still expecting an explanation. "I didn't plan on coming all the way up here.'' I said, looking out the tower wrapping the robes around me."Are you going to tell me why you're upset or am I gonna have to alert Albus" he said in a more stern voice, but I could tell he was just trying to push me to tell him what's wrong. "Why do you care Sir?" I said in a quiet voice not wanting to sound harsh, I genuinely wanted to know why he wasn't deducting house points and assigning detention like he would have with any other student. "I just want to make sure you are...well." He said, looking out the tower as well. I walked over to the ledge and looked back up at the stars. He followed suit and stood next to me and followed my gaze up.
"Funny isn't it?" I said keeping my gaze on the sky, "How, fragile life can be. You can be down here one minute and up there the next." I said letting out a small laugh. "Is this about your sister Y/n?" He said looking down at me. I quickly darted my gaze to his and looked into his eyes, searching for any information I could find. "How do you know about her?" I asked a little shocked, I was sure only Dumbledore knew of her. He let in a small breath, "I um, Dumbledore spoke of her once to us teachers before you arrived". "What did he say?" I asked, remaining eye contact with the tall man. "Just that you two were fairly close and she..." he paused for a moment looking back out at the sky. "Died." I said, turning my gaze "You can say it, Severus. It's not a secret, and I'm no longer sensitive to the fact." I added he gave me a look for using his name but let it slide. "I'm upset because of my Father," He looked at me sharply and I just continued staring out, "and another issue i'm having but that's really none of your concern." I let out a ragged breath "Yes well im familiar with conniving Fathers." he said quietly. I looked at him, was he opening up to me? I felt butterflies and smiled a bit at this. "You are?" I said playing it cool. "Yes I do, my father was a horrible man to my mother and I" he said clearing his throat. "The reason I was crying wasn't just because of my problems, but because I don't know what to do about them, and I have no one to ask for advice from because... well they're personal." I said , looking down and silently taking in a whiff of his robes, parchment and firewhiskey with a hint of pine. "Well enlighten me, i've seen a lot, maybe I can help you." he said looking down at me. "Well I'm afraid there's not much I can do about my asshole father," I said laughing, "No I suppose not" he said, stiffening a bit. "As for my other issue I..." I debated saying anything what if he caught on or was able to see right through me and was repulsed? "Have you ever had feelings for someone, but there's no possible way you'd ever get to be with them?" I said looking up at him with saddened eyes. He straightened out and cleared his throat at this question.
Oh no I said too much he knows I mean him and now he's gonna kill me. He opened his mouth to speak and hesitated for a minute. "I did," He said, still not looking back at me. I studied his face as he thought for a moment, he was so handsome, and his skin looked so soft and his hooked nose was like a Gods. "Many years ago." he added, I assumed he wasn't going to tell me anything else about her. "What did you do about it?" I asked expectantly, amazed by how far our conversation had come along, so grateful he was being so kind and trusted me. "Well years later she married and had a child, and then she was killed." he said in a somber tone. I looked into his eyes with an apologetic look, this poor man, I can't imagine how i'd feel if that happened to me, no wonder his eyes hold so much pain, he lives with so much pain. "I didn't do anything because she didnt love me back, " he said looking down at me glancing over my expression, " but this is not always the case Y/n, you may have a chance, you just shouldn't hide your feelings. Like you said, we can be down here one minute and up there the next, so don't hold back." he said with a small smile, I looked into his eyes soaking in every word he was saying, I wish I could sit here and let it all out, tell him everything I feel for him, and let him hold me, but I knew that wasn't an option. "Now this does not mean you should be reckless though Ms. L/n, still follow the rules, just don't go wandering around the castle every night." he added, lightening the mood a bit and giving me a small smile.
"Now, come you need to get back to your dormitory and I need to get back to monitoring the halls for more delinquents like yourself." I laughed at his comment and nodded my head. We walked down the steps and he escorted me back to the Slytherin common room. I stopped outside it and looked at him. "Thank you Professor." I said smiling, I lingered for a moment and gave him a small hug, this time I knew I was doing it and it felt good. I felt him lightly resting his hands on my back, I could stay here forever, but I pulled away and looked at him for any sign of anger, but he just had a look of exhaust and slight remorse. I went to head into the room but remembered I still had his robes on. "Oh, here, sorry, thank you for lending them to me," I said taking them off and handing them back to him. "Of course, can't allow you to freeze to death that would be insensitive and get me fired." he said taking them and straightening up, he looked to be back in his usual mood and his eyes wandered away from mine. "Goodnight Severus." I said smiling. He shook his head with a straight face "Nope" he responded and I just laughed walking into the Slytherin common room and shutting the door behind me.
He walked off and I leaned against the door smiling a bit. I got back into my room and laid down. I smelt my nightgown and could faintly smell him on it. I blushed a little and looked out my window thinking of the conversation I'd just had with the cold Potions Professor. I had asked for a sign, an answer as to why, and then he showed up, I didn't want to jump to conclusions, but it felt nice knowing that small detail. The way he opened up to me and trusted me, I was shocked to say the least. Why did he comfort me and treat me so kindly? There's no way it's just because I'm kind to him, and I help him with class stuff right? I mean he has such a strong reputation here of being mean and resentful, and I see that side of him all the time, but he never ceases to surprise me with his understanding nature. He's a very intelligent man, he must be able to tell I'm worthy of receiving such treatment. No it's probably just him being nice to the headmasters goddaughter, surely nothing else, and I shouldn't let myself believe otherwise. I turned and looked at the clock, it was 3 o'clock. Holy shit we talked for so long. I took one more whiff of my nightgown, his faint smell growing more and more weak, and closed my eyes. Drifting off into the peaceful silence.
The end of term quickly approached. I stood in my green dorm throwing things messily into my trunk. Today was the big day and my nerves were showing it. I had to help the twins prank Snape, that I was ok with, then I was spending the break with the twins and their family, that was scaring me. I was aware that all of the Weasleys were in Gryffindor, even Bill, and Charlie who had since graduated. I knew that my friendship with the twins, as well as Ron would give me cushioning but people, especially Gryffindors were never too inviting to Slytherins. I understand why Slytherins are seen as mean and cold, and I won’t lie I have been cold before. I turned people down often to focus on my studies and I don’t realize how I come off doing so. That was a bit of a curve in my relationship with the twins. They were apprehensive in continuing our friendship after my sorting and when they did I was thrilled, but we had a lot of issues none the less.
“Cmon, transfiguration can wait.” A second-year George pushed. I rolled my eyes, unable to study or keep focus as they continued to pester me.
“No, it can’t.” I snapped. “I need to do this, so please just let me finish it.” They glanced at me, obviously on edge due to my outburst before walking away. I sighed in relief and continued to scribble down notes. I had to get perfect marks to become a Healer, that was my dream and that was why I was sorted in Slytherin, my ambition and goals were at the top of my mind at all times. I was going to be a Healer. I knew since I was a child I wanted to help people.
I cringed closing my trunk as the memory resurfaced. I remembered the fight that followed that, I never meant to upset them or hurt them but I would put my studies first. I have loosened up since but I have shared my goals with them and they have been extremely understanding and stopped pushing me as much, giving me time to study. They understood my curtness and I promised to be kinder even when I was stressed. My temper caused some tension between us especially at the beginning of our friendship, but now they don’t see my house or the color on my robes but the girl they met on the train four years ago. My favorite days were the days where I would sit with Fred and George by the lake, they would work on a prank invention and I would work on my homework. It was comfortable and homey, they always made me feel at ease.
I picked up my trunk, pulling it out of the dorms and common room. There was eagerness in my steps as I made my way to the Gryffindor common room,  levitating my trunk up the stairs I felt my heart rate pick up. I had never spent the holidays with friends, much less with the family of the boy who I had a crush on. I tried to regain my breathing walking into the common room. It always felt warm and comforting, a stark contrast to the Slytherin common room. Dropping my trunk by the portrait hole I scanned the room for my redheads. Spotting them, their backs to me as they talked feverishly to Lee Jordan who sat in front of them.
Jumping over the back of the couch I plopped in between them. Lee erupted into a fit of giggles as both boys jumped away from me. George glared, shoving me with his shoulder. This didn’t discourage my grin, looking over to Fred I saw him pouting. I bit my lip, reaching up I ruffled his overgrown locks. His pout transformed into a small smile. Seeing his features transform caused my smile to grow. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into him. His scent engulfed me much like he was, cinnamon and fireworks overpowering the rest of my senses. I smiled as my hand traveled up to his chest, resting on it to steady myself as I crashed into his chest. I didn’t notice George and Lee staring with amused looks adorning their faces, all I was focussed on was Fred. His fingers traced small patterns on my arm.
Instead of address his affections he steered the conversation back on track. “So Lee, any thoughts.” I turned to see Lee, he looked as though he was going to burst into laughter, swallowing his amusement he shook his head no. I looked over to George who had a very similar look on his face. I realized their amusement was directed at Fred and I and I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked at the floor, slightly embarrassed.
“Are you ready?” I pulled my gaze up to Fred. He was looking at me concerned, the weight of his arm was lessened and I felt him pulling back, seemingly aware of my embarrassment. I quickly forgot about it as I nodded up to him smiling. I squeezed his jumper slightly with my hand.
“More ready than I’ve ever been.” I gushed. His arm relaxed and he pulled me closer laughing lightly. I tried to focus on him as the butterflies erupted inside of me.
“More ready than the last test you took? I swear you studied for two days straight.” I glared at him as he laughed more at my expression. It was true, I did study a lot, I was worried about my marks, but that was justified with the perfect score I received.
“It was worth it, besides I forced you to study and you did well, don’t make fun of me you benefited from it.” He sighed defeated.
“Let’s go lovebirds! I do believe you need to talk to your professor.” George threw a pillow at us and got up. His long legs pulled him up and in a few strides, he stood waiting for us at the portrait hole.  I blushed and pulled myself off of Fred, putting my hand out to help him up which he gladly took and we ran off to the potions classroom.
I peaked my head inside, seeing Snape. From behind my back, I waved the twins off, signaling for them the hide as I walked inside the classroom clearing my throat.
“Mr. Snape?” He aggressively shut the book in his hands and turned to see me, his black hair swaying slightly. He raised an eyebrow, nonverbally telling me to continue. “Could you help me pick out a potions book to study over break? I haven’t been very happy with my marks and I wanted to improve, I just wasn’t sure which one to pick and Pince isn’t here.” He let out a short groan, placed his book down, and strode out of the door.
“Follow me.” His monotone voice rang through the hall. I skipped slightly trying to keep up with him. I glanced behind me and I watched the twins slink into his room, Fred sent me a wink before going into the room. I blushed and turned back towards Snape as he led me through the hall towards the library. The library visit was long and aggravating, Snape made a lot of remarks about my grades, calling them less than, but I pushed my anger aside and tried to focus on the task at hand which was to distract him for as long as possible. Eventually, once I had checked out three potions books, filled with information I already knew he was back on his way to his classroom and I ran up to the common room to find the twins. Walking through the portrait hole I was met with roaring laughter, the common room was packed with people all adorning red. Finding the source of their laughter wasn’t hard. As my eyes looked through the crowd I saw Fred and George, covered head to toe in a pink paint like substance, both of them looked extremely happy despite the color of their robes.
“I did not just spend half an hour with Snape for this to backfire.” I said walking up to them, I tried to sound serious but it was hard to contain my laughter as I got a better look at them.
“You didn’t! Let’s just say the cauldrons weren’t the only thing that turned pink.” George said sheepishly.
“Yeah let’s just say it was the desks as well…” Fred added.
“And the chairs…” George continued.
“And the walls…” Fred cringed.
“Don’t forget the ceiling.” George laughed out.
I shook my head at the two boys. Fred smiled at me and it made my heart race. “You two should clean up, before Snape sees you looking like his classroom.” They nodded and we all walked up the dormitory stairs toward the bathrooms.
I watched amused as George walked through the doorway, he was pulling clumps of pink paint out of his hair. Fred turned to me.
“Do you want to wait out here?” He asked.
“Well I didn’t think you wanted me in there while you showered.” I laughed out. “Give me your robes when you get out and I will try to get the pink out.” He nodded and walked in after George. I leaned against the wall trying to imagine Snape’s classroom, wishing I could have seen his face. Soon enough a dripping George walked back out of the doorway, he had a towel in his hands and another wrapped around his hips.
“Like what you see?” He winked as he used the towel in his hands to dry his hair. Dramatically he stopped and flexed, turning around and doing different poses.
“Will you go get dressed.” I laughed out. “Are your robes in there? I’ll try and get the pink out after Fred’s out.” He nodded and walked up the steps, he didn’t leave without showing me a few more poses but eventually he disappeared into his dorm.
“Y/N?” My head picked up at the sound of my name, I recognized Fred’s voice although slightly muffled by the door. “Will you come in here?”
I walked tentatively toward the door. I pushed it open and saw the big bathroom, the left side had multiple shower stalls and there were benches and cubbies to my right. Looking around I saw Fred leaning against a sink straight in front of me, he had a towel wrapped around his hips much like George but it sat slightly lower. I closed the door behind me and took a few steps forward.
“You ok Freddie?” I asked. He turned to face me and I gulped, his toned torso and pale skin was dripping due to the humidity in the room. The room itself was slightly foggy and the longer I looked at him the more hot I felt. The damp air caused my clothes to latch onto my skin and seeing him in front of me made my breathing hitch.
He let out a short groan. “I can’t get the pink out of my hair.” Looking at his hair instead of his body I could see the clumps of pink he couldn’t get out. I walked forward and reached my hands up to move his hair, our chests were close to touching, I could feel his eyes on my face which was getting hotter the longer I stood there. I kept my focus on his ginger locks, moving them around to inspect them the best I could considering our large height gap.
“Did you use cold water?” I asked. He nodded curtly and swallowed, I couldn’t help but laugh. “Well you hardened the paint and it’s practically dried in your hair now.”
He groaned again. “So I bloody gave myself hypothermia for nothing?” I bit my lip to suppress another laugh that was dangerously close from escaping. I watched as his eyes travelled down to my lips momentarily causing a new wave of heat and nerves to hit me like a bus.
“I’m sorry Freddie, I can try to get it out for you if you want.” I offered, I felt bad for him, I knew he didn’t want to cut his hair and if we didn’t get it out we might just have to.
“You want to shower with me?” He smirked down at me. I felt my cheeks warm up and my mouth go dry.
“I meant in the sink.” I gulped and slapped his chest lightly. His smirk didn’t falter as he lowered his head in the sink. I turned on the hot water, testing it to make sure it wasn’t too hot I directed his head into the line of water. I massaged his head lightly and I felt him relax as I did so. I saw the way his shoulders lost their tension and the muscles moved lightly as he sighed. I felt accomplished seeing that I was helping him.
I took my eyes off of his back and watched the water turn pink and go down the drain. When the water was looking clear again I racked my fingers through his hair to make sure I didn’t miss any clumps. Satisfied I turned off the water and turned around to grab a towel for his head. Drying my hands I heard him ring out his hair.
“Wow, thanks.” He said breathily, I turned to see him inspecting his hair in the mirror. I walked up to him with a smile on my face.
“No problem.” He smiled back, leaning down he went for the towel in my hands. Before he could grab it I threw it over his head. He pulled the towel off his face with a pout.
“That wasn’t nice.” He began to dry his hair, moving his arms up and fast which caused his muscles to ripple beneath his skin. I gulped eyeing him as my body felt warmer than I would have liked in that moment.
“Maybe that's my definition of nice.” I said breathlessly. My voice was a little weak and I knew my cheeks were flushed. He eyed me before halting his actions, the familiar smirk grew on his face and he walked up to me, closing the distance between us so there was less than an inch separating our bodies.
“Is it?” He drawled, looking down at me. I looked at him from beneath my eyelashes, watching every movement he made as my heart felt like it was going to explode. I watched his eyes as they flickered between my own and then down to my lips. I felt us get closer but I wasn’t aware we were moving. “You know I quite like-”
“Oi, stop snogging!” George’s voice made us both jump away from each other. I looked toward the door but it was out of sight. Relief washed over me as I realized that probably meant he didn’t see us so close together. “The train is leaving in less than an hour and I want to get food before we leave.” I watched as Fred collected his things, he sent me a sympathetic smile and walked towards the door. I didn’t move both confused and embarrassed. I heard a smack followed by a yelp from George before the door shut leaving me alone with their soiled robes and my racing thoughts.
The train ride was full of chatter. Pushing past people to find an empty compartment I heard a lot of whispers about Snape's classroom, the boys behind me were trying to suppress their giggles as we walked down the tight hallway. I stumbled a bit but towards the end of the train cart but I found one.
“Finally.” I exclaim, I pushed through the door and struggled to lift my trunk over my head. Suddenly it became lighter and I watched it move above my head and onto its rack. Turning I saw Fred pushing it into place. “Thanks.” I breathed out.
He smiled down at me. His hand lingered on my trunk caging me between the seats and him. Seeing him above me made my heart flutter, his hair was getting longer and it fell into his eyes, leaning up on my toes I brushed it out of his eyes slightly. I watched him tense slightly and sputter for a moment. He froze and I sat down happily knowing I made flush. He sat down next to me, leaving little room between us despite the empty bench. I looked across to the other side of the compartment where Lee and George were eyeing me amused. Rolling my eyes I tried to send them my best ‘drop it’ face.
The train ride was filled with giggles and Fred and George telling us about the prank from their point of view. Half way through their story I zoned out, eyeing the rolling fields in through the window. My thoughts traveled back to the bathroom, what happened there and what could have happened if George didn’t interrupt.
Was he about to kiss me?
My logical side said I was crazy for considering it but my romantic side couldn’t deny the fact that he kept looking at my lips. I brought my hand up to trace my lips, imaging what could have been as the scenery outside changed from farm land to the city.
“Almost there!” I announced. I remembered I was staying with them and I was put on edge immediately. The thoughts of doubt resurfaced about being rejected because of my house. I felt my heartbeat quicken and my palms get sweaty.
“Mum’s so excited to meet you.” George said snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked at him puzzled.
“She wouldn’t stop writing about it,” Fred laughed from beside me. “You’re going to room with Ginny is that ok?” I nodded as a response still feeling the nerves buzzing around inside me.
“Yeah,” George snorted. “She didn’t us to sleep in the room, I don’t blame her though, I don’t want to be up all night because you and Fred are snogging or more than that.” He feigned disgust and I tried to push down the embarrassment as I pushed my focus on the window. I watched as the train entered the station, out of the corner of my eye I watched Fred chuck a chocolate frog box at his twins head and Lee laughing only to be kicked by George. I suppressed my smile and watched the station change from a blur of people into more recognizable shapes as the train stopped.
y/n was sweet, kind, compassionate, gorgeous and smart, so when she caught the eye of cedric diggory a year earlier he made it his personal mission to get her to go out with him, even on one date.
when she finally caved in they went on one date. then a second, a second turned into a third. he asked her out officially, she met his parents, you know how the story goes. well perhaps not, and there was no happily ever after with cedric. certainly not as hot tears ran down her cheeks as she watched her boyfriend of a year, hand caressing her face, kissing cho chang like a moth to a flame, hungry for more. prefects duties my ass- she thought as her pure devastation dragged her away from the scene, her original presence going unnoticed. anger was boiling through her blood and she lost track of where she was going, until she ended up in the library somehow. y/n loved reading and spent countless hours in the room, and she certainly didn’t want to be in the common room when her not-so-loyal boyfriend would be returning shortly enough. so instead she shrunk down, back against a bookcase, knees tucked into arms, and let the sadness and confusion take over. she didn’t even hear the library doors open once again over her sobs.
the last thing draco malfoy expected to see that night in the library while grabbing a book was the friendly hufflepuff girl y/n. and especially not with tear stained cheeks and glossy eyes. draco would never tell her, but he was always captivated by her, she was to kind and trusting for her own good.
“er- im sorry for uh- interrupting” his voice startled her at first.
“no im sorry” she said wiping her tears. “i should be in my common room, not crying like a child in the library.”
when he sat down next to her it was nice, he wasn’t too close but the company was enjoyable, even if it was temporary. “well I know we aren’t friends, like at all, but if you’d like to talk about whatever is making you cry in the library at one in the morning, im not a bad listener”
she wasn’t even considering talking to draco. not in the slightest, but she didn’t have anyone else to talk to. she couldn’t talk to her parents, they would fly out to hogwarts and personally hex the boy. and she had spent so much time hanging out with cedric that she didn’t have any other close friends she could talk to. maybe talking to a stranger would be best. draco found it quite cute that she hadn’t noticed she had zoned out, but before he got to admire her more she looked back up at him “fine”
“you need to understand that i am still confused, completely.” that’s how it started. she told him about how cedric lied about where he was, and how she went to surprise him, and how when she turned the corner she saw him and cho, practically swallowing eachothers faces. at some point in her story draco opened his arms and she fell into them, tears still sliding down from her eyes. she did find this odd at first, of all the reputations draco held, hugger was not one.
by the times she cried all the tears she could, draco walked her back to the common room. as he pulled her back into another hug he whispered in her ear “meet me in the courtyard before breakfast?” she could only muffle a response into his sweater. as they released themselves from eachother a minute later, she watched him walk away down further into the dungeon. it took her mere seconds to fall asleep that night.
-
when she saw the blonde boy the next morning alone in the almost empty courtyard, she made her way over to him, as fast as her legs could carry her without running. he looked happy to see her, but she didn’t wait to get to the point.
“about last night, you haven’t told anyone yet have you? it’s just that id like to hear what happened from cedric before people find out.”
“ofcourse not love. im a slytherin, not an asshole. speaking of cedric you need to break up with him.” he was hesitant with both the nickname and the proposition, considering that before last night they had practically never spoken.
it was now her turn to be hesitant. “but what if she kissed him though, you know, maybe it’s all a big misunderstanding” y/n was always looking for the best in people, but maybe cheating was cedrics best, she hated to think it.
“y/n! you saw him kiss her back didn’t you? there was no denial from cedrics side right? i know you look for the positives but sometimes it’s not a shame to realize not everyone’s perfect. and you deserve someone who values you” it was harsh in a way, but true. he continued to encourage her until she realized if she didn’t now, cedric would continue to go on these midnight strolls, faking prefect duties and kissing other girls.
when she entered the great hall she immediately stormed over to cedric, who was in deep conversation with his friends. when she butted in to ask if she could speak to him the emotions of the night before threatened to arise within her again. dracos words floated in her head. maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing, even the hogwarts “it” boy had flaws. he was insecure which led to jealousy, he could sometimes be insensitive, and the newest to the collection, he was a cheater. and he sure as hell wasnt going to admit to it if she asked.
once he finally acknowledged her presence with a smile she began.
“cedric, may i speak to you, alone” she glanced at his friends at the last word.
“just say it aloud, im sure the boys don’t mind” he really didn’t know what was coming.
“im not sure you want me to talk about this with your friend around”
“come on darling”
well here goes nothing.
“if you say so. we’re over. don’t try to defend yourself and act all innocent cause I know a lot more than you think. just a tip in the future if you want to have a successful relationship do not go make out with other girls in the middle of the night in random corridors, or at least breakup with your girlfriend first. asshole” y/n was sweating and cedric was pale and speechless.
y/n’s rant had gathered many eyes from across the room. as she walked back towards draco who was waiting at the end of the aisle he couldn’t help but smile and whisper “you are a baddass, come eat at slytherin, then?” when they got across the room, people were confused but no one would ever say no to draco or his friends. blaise zabani seem unbothered at her presence but kind nonetheless, pansy on the other hand, jealous that dracos eyes were for once not on her.
-
over the next few weeks a friendship began to grow between y/n l/n and draco malfoy. they were sitting together in classes, studying together, eating meals at eachothers tables and all around enjoying eachothers company. little did y/n know that as the seasons changed, so did dracos feelings for her. she was so undeniably amazing in every way imaginable, something draco had never came across in his life.
on this particular evening they were walking around the black lake on the cool evening with the pink and orange sky on the horizon. deep conversations were common between the pair and tonight was no exception. “do you still love him?” the question shocked her at first, and she thought deeply about her answer before responding. “i don’t know honestly, a part of me probably still does. and it’s not like I’ve never had things not work before, but how people leave always stays. i hate to say it, but a part of me wants revenge. i just want him to feel some sort of pain, even just jealousy as dark and twisted as that is.” a comfortable silence fell once again before he broke it after a few minutes. “it’s not as dark as you might think, actually. and if you want him to feel jealous i have an idea that could benefit us both you just need to be open minded.”
draco malfoy wanted her to do what?
“what does fake dating even mean? how do you even do that” she questioned
“i mean just convince people we are dating, cedric will be jealous and it will get pansy of my back for two minutes. all you’d have to do is hold my hand, wear my scarf, come to my quidditch games and parties with me, anything else” he asked
“we could probably go to hogsmeade togther, cedric will be fuming, thank you draco” she said before kissing his cheek making his face go a brilliant red.
yet again draco had her doing things she wouldn’t do in a thousand years, but maybe she needed a change. plus he seemed to have this quite planned out and there was no harm in trying. “if you really think this could work, then fine, I’ll do it.”
draco would never admit it, but he was embarrassingly excited that she agreed.
-
the next morning their hopefully “master” plan would begin, but that night for the first time in a long time, draco couldn’t sleep whatsoever. he tried counting sheep, drinking tea, every sleeping position and yet he couldn’t get y/n out of his mind. she was so pretty, and smart, and kind. he had trouble even imagining what kind of delusional cedric was to let her go. if she was his- and not fake his, he would do everything to keep her happy and never see her like he did in the library only three weeks ago. in the end, she was just a rose in the hands who had no intention of keeping her. after even more attempts, he finally drifted off into a deep, and dreamless sleep.
-
once y/n finally got enough motivation to roll her self out of bed for the last day of classes before the weekend the conversation from the night before entered her brain. was this going to work? everything that could possibly go wrong played over and over again. what if cedric never got jealous? would they be forty and still fake dating? she thankfully got out of her head when she saw draco waiting for her outside the hufflepuff common room. “well good morning love” he said before placing a ginger kiss to her forehead, no one was around to watch, and she didn’t recall that being in the verbal agreement, but to be completely honest, it was nice.
they were both nervous and for different reasons. draco knew better than anyone that if word of this so called relationship to his parents, they would flip. everyone knew the malfoy’s had very strong morals and were extremely racist, and no matter how much he liked her, they would never approve of the halfblood hufflepuff. y/n knew pansy would be up her ass, and there was no guarantee that this would work, she also wasn’t huge on attention, and this was not exactly going to make her any less of a subject around the hogwarts grounds.
speaking of hogwarts, was the walk from hufflepuff to the great hall that long? was her hand sweating or was she imagining it? dracos long fingers were intertwined with hers and they talked about everything and nothing as they made there way to breakfast.
once they arrived, few heads turned, as many were still engaged in conversation, much to the satisfaction of y/n. dracos green eyes immediately made harsh contact with cedrics grey eyes and they made their way to the slytherin table, where pansy’ dirty glares would go unnoticed y/n.
the day trudged along slowly. in the classes with draco they sat together, he picked her up from the rest, walking her to her next. eating lunch and dinner at his table, showing pda at any given time, even when cedric wasn’t anywhere around.
when y/n were dismissed from herbology at the end of the day she wasted no time getting back the hufflepuff common room starting on her potions essay. in a wave of exhilaration the puffs already in the common room rushed out, she was confused but followed them out anyways, unopened books in arms.
-
y/n wasn’t tall, so she struggled to see passed the crowd. finally reaching the inner layer of the circle she saw what was likely destined to happen. cedric was buffing out his chest, trying to close in on draco, despite them not being far in height whatsoever. the boys muttering to eachother went unheard after the shrill voice of professor sprout broke out. “what do you boys think your doing, everyone return to your common rooms” she said before going into a small lecture with the boys more quietly. people filed out of the corridor behind her in every direction. and once the raft of sprout had finished, and cedric had stormed off to god knows where, draco engulfed the girl in a warm hug, almost knocking them over.
that night she did her homework in the slyerthin common room, on the lap of her boyfriend, fake boyfriend- she reminded herself, it was only the first day but it was so easy to be with him.
“he’s lucky sprout showed up, he kept acting as though he was superior to me, the dumbass couldn’t beat me in a duel in a million years, I’ll show him in the quidditch match tomorrow”
“is that tomorrow already?” she sighed before continuing “well I’ll be cheering for you, draco”
“id hope, love, also how do you feel about wearing green?”
-
the green scarf actually complimented her features nicely, much to her surprise. the match started in seven minutes, and if y/n wanted to make it on time she had to leave now.
the last few weeks were cold, yes, but this was the first snowfall of the year, fluffy snow was settling on the ground and castle, like a beautiful painting. the con? the snow was also making it difficult to see, almost guaranteeing a long match. right as she sat down next to some fellow fifth years the whistle blew. dracos green scarve made her stand out in the land of bagders, recieving some questioning.
“your dating him? but he’s a slytherin?”
“and an smart, handsome, kind one at that, so I’m going to get back to the game, if that’s okay with you.”
the game was the most eventful of the year due to the multiple dirty fakeouts between the seekers. this was less a slytherin vs hufflepuff thing to y/n and more of a draco vs cedric. ofcourse she loved her house, but there was no way she wanted cedric to win now, after the cheating and lying. that thought was mutual but unshared between her and draco. and the cold wasn’t making anyone want to stay out there for much longer, despite the excitement. while cedric was trying to trick draco once more draco saw the real snitch, where cedric was only moments before. rushing towards it, arm reached out, he could almost grab it. almost. almost. almost. yes. the small snitch was clutched tightly in his palm, cedric still clueless, zooming around, not noticing his attempts had failed him miserably.
ravenclaws and slyertherins alike were running onto the field, y/n somewhere amongst them. in no time draco was being held in the air, with those around him chanting. normally she would have been pissed that hufflepuff had lost, but the smile plastered on dracos face made it all worth it. after nemurous minutes he was put down, made his way to y/n and kissed her. he actually kissed her. in front of all those people. the chants were replaced with whistles and if anyone didn’t get the message of their “relationship” it was surely out now. his kiss was sweet and soft, and ended much before she was ready to. “honey you look dashing in green”
the party in slyerthin that night was like nothing she had ever been to before. music was blasting, house elves had made food and drinks of all sorts and y/n was cuddled into the arms of draco on the sofa, in his jumper and joggers. occasionally people would come congratulate him, and even pansy had the audacity to come try to flirt with him, that was until he shooed her off.
as the festivities continued into the night, y/n fell asleep right there, in her fake boyfriends arms- who, she would never admit, she was catching feelings for. she didn’t know much, but she did know that she was not ready to get hurt again anytime soon. they had spent the last hours together talking about random deep topics, their biggest fears and insecurities as those around them danced to the rhythm of the music. draco struggled to even think someone as perfect as y/n would have insecurities, but she did. eventually he picked her up bridal style and carried to his dormitory. he couldn’t exactly settle easy, the girl he liked was sleeping in his bed, so once he confirmed that she was infact asleep he let it off his chest.
“in case you didn’t know- im crazy about you, since i found you in the library that night.” he was whispering as soft as he could
“i haven’t told you any of this because i know your still healing but god im in love with you”
he too fell asleep that night, limbs tangled with hers.
the sun hit her face from his window that morning, bright as ever, highlighting her beautiful features and draco couldn’t help but admire her beauty. for numerous minutes he laid there, staring until she woke from her own dreams.
-
cedrics next attemp at payback for draco was just as low as the first. he followed draco towards the dungeons one afternoon when y/n wasn’t in his presenceand tried to fight him right there, outside the slyerthin common room.
“draco what do you even want with her?” he was practically grumbling
“you really don’t know what you had? did you? also she’s my girlfriend now, so what do you want with her?” draco spat back, emphasizing the you.
unlucky for cedric, right after he threw the first punch, which draco dodged successfully, snape came out and gave cedric two weeks detention.
“whatever, ill get her back” cedric said fast before heading towards the hufflepuff common room. draco wasn’t too sure of that, he had fallen desperately for the girl and would do whatever he could to keep her, and keep her away from cedric.
-
they were on there daily evening stroll around the grounds, much like the one that the original idea was pitched during only a handful of weeks ago, fingers intertwined. partially because it is cold, partially because they wanted to. draco could tell that y/n was deep in thought and originally wasn’t going to ask her, but he couldn’t help himself.
“what are you thinking about?” he said quietly but loud enough for her to hear
“im feeling kind of stupid honestly. i mean it was all there, the prefect patrols on days i could have sworn weren’t his. the glances across the hall to her, god even the tutoring in the classes he was doing amazing and needed no help in.”
he could tell this was making her upset and so he racked his brain for the right thing to say, but before he could find anything she started again.
“I’m also quite mad at myself, i mean i know all relationships are flawed but looking back ours was pretty fucked up. i started dating him in our third year, and i was still very insecure and didn’t exactly love myself. i spent a lot of time worrying about things I had no control over, and he wasn’t a help in the slightest. he’d flirt with other girls all the time but one boy would look at me for a second longer than he’d liked and he’d be confronting them. I don’t know if I really loved him, or if i was just in pain but whatever it was it was horrible.” tears were threatening her eyes but not yet approaching them.
“im sorry y/n. you are amazing and beautiful, smart and kind and your sure as hell don’t deserve that, if you want to talk about it ever please ask me” he would add on to that, if they were dating- and for real he wouldn’t treat her any less than the princess he considered her to be. he pulled her into a big hug before they walked back up into the beautiful castle.
-
they hadn’t heard from cedric in weeks, mission accomplished right? well no.
being completely honest, y/n didn’t know how much longer she would be able to participate without feelings boiling over. y/n didn’t even know where it came from, and there was no denying it, she was head over heels for the slytherin prince. she didn’t know when, maybe at the quidditch game? when he gave hugged her after sprout gave cedric punishment after draco stood up for her? she too wasn’t sure.
-
the morning of the hogsmeade trip, snow was falling once again, replacing the already existing layer on the ground. leaving hufflepuff, she couldn’t help but smile when she saw the blonde haired boy by the barrels waiting for her.
walking arm-in-arm to the small village, y/ns teeth almost chattering when draco lended his green scarf to the girl yet again.
“when i said you looked good in green at the match, i wasn’t joking, you should wear it more often”
draco loved the way she looked with her pink tinted nose and cheeks. and before he knew it they were in the three broomsticks drinking butterbeer, talking about god knows what.
that was until draco decided to come clean about his feelings.
“y/n youre probably not ready to hear this, and i will wait as long as you need me to. but i just can’t take it anymore. ive been crazy about you since we started being friends and- whatever this is, three and a half months ago. and if you’d like id love to go out with you- and not as a jealousy scheme”
the cold was no longer able to mask the blush on her cheeks and she told him everything she’d been hiding. thankfully. if she hadn’t he would have lost the best thing in his life. she knew his family wasn’t exactly the lovey dovey type, and his friends could be cold, they had eachother and they didn’t need much more than that.
once they had finished and left the warmth of the building, into the snow in the middle of the street he dragged her towards him ever so lightly using his scarf. cupping her cheeks in his hands, he kissed her as soft as ever. lasting much longer this time, there mouthes seemed to move in sync. he tasted sweet, just like the first time, and undescribable. they would kissed there in the middle of hogsmeade village for hours if their lungs didn’t need so much air. so instead they stood there forheads pressed together. eventually there hands found the others and they made their way back to the school, hearts and smiles as big as ever.
-
draco saw her room for the first time that day, he had been in the hufflepuff common room twice, but never to her room. it was much brighter and got more sunlight. y/n had shelves full of books and many plants around the room. the wall around the window was lined with poloroids of her and her friends. he sat on her bed and wasted no time pulling her onto it with him. they fell asleep that night wrapped in eachothers arms, kissing the others face once in a while, complete with the fact that they had eachother, and for real.
the next morning they woke up at 10, thankfully they didn’t have classes, but they had still missed breakfast. fortunately y/n was not only friends with the house elves, but extraordinarily good cook. she was currently making pancakes, in dracos green jumper, his chin on her shoulder and hands on her hips.
“I cannot believe almost four months ago i started fake dating you and now your cooking breakfast in my sweater” he said practically mumbling into her cheek before kissing it, and dragging her away from the stove, to dance. right there in the middle of the kitchen, and he was suprisingly amazing at it.
-
the engines of the hogwarts express were rumbling and y/n had settled into the compartment with draco. she had owled her parents informing her she would be going to the malfoy manor for the first weeks of summer, and the nerves were filling her mind.
“what’s wrong darling” he said kindly as she leaned into his shoulder.
“im just nervous, what if they don’t like me?”
“they will, there is nothing about you that isn’t likeable. and even if they don’t like you immediately, it’s not like i could stop loving you, ever”
what? theyd never actually said the “L” word to the other- at least while they were awake. yes they had been dating for six months already but had draco ever said he loved them to anyone? it didn’t matter, she knew how she felt.
“y-you love me?”
he waited another second. “i mean, uh- er, i-i-“
“draco?” he hummed in response, still clearly embarrassed “i love you too”
If you want to request you can, and please do, I write for more characters except Fred lmao, just go ahead and request it! Or message me for anything idc I’ve been very bored lately :) please enjoy this crap I produced in a few hours.
Tumblr media
“We won!” Fred screamed, hosting you up in his arms. “I can’t believe we actually won!” He continued, blissfully laughing before putting you down and pulling you into a tight hug.
“Woah there, big guy. I know you’re excited but you’re suffocating me.” You laughed, playfully punching him in his back.
“I’m sorry, love. I just cannot believe we actually won the Quidditch Cup. Charlie is going to be so delighted.” He continued pulling back, his hands resting on your face.
It had been the last match, Gryffindor against Slytherin, and after an intense couple of hours, Harry had managed to catch the Golden Snitch, resulting in his team winning the Quidditch Cup for the first time since Charlie Weasley had attended the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Oi, you two, stop flirting over there, we have a party to attend to.” You heard from your left turning to face a smiling George who had just finished ruffling Harry’s hair.
You felt a pair of arms rest around both yours and Fred’s shoulders, pushing you forwards and off the station. “He’s right. We ought to celebrate finally winning the Cup. This feels like a dream; on my final year too! And McGonagall thought my training schedule was horrendous.” Oliver Wood’s voice rang in your ears as he pushed himself forward to congratulate the rest of the team.
“Your training schedule was horrendous; we were training more than all of the other teams combined!” Fred shouted after his team’s captain who was already too deep im embraces from his house’s members to hear the twin’s protests. “I barely had time to study this year and this is his reaction?” Fred sighed as you both continued walking towards the Gryffindor common room.
“As if you would study even if you had had the time.” You laughed just as you entered the castle, following the many Gryffindor students who kept joyfully chanting their way to the party.
“Oh, so you’re just so keen on personally attacking me now?” He chimes, bumping his shoulder into yours. “You aren’t exactly wrong, but those training schedules meant I couldn’t spend as much time as I wanted to with you, this year, and we both know just how heartbroken you were when you found out you weren’t able to spend all those wonderful afternoons, cuddling up with me.” He smirked at you, earning a smack on his head.
“Sometimes I wonder why I decided to be friends with such a pretentious idiot in the first place.” You smiled as you finally reached the Fat Lady portrait that secured the entrance to the common room. From behind it, you could already hear the celebrations that were occurring, imagining all the food, the drinks and the decorations that had been put up for this wonderful occasion.
“That’s no way to talk about Georgie. I know his intelligence isn’t his forte, but he’s not that pretentious, you know? Scurvy Cup.” Fred stated as the painting moved forward and the Fat Lady disappeared behind it with a heartfelt ‘Don’t have too much fun’.
Before you could respond to the redhead’s comment, Fred had already been shoved away from you and into a group of giggling girls, all of them intrigued on how he had such strength to make the Bulger hit the Slytherins’ brooms with such intensity. You were used to this by now, although there were many perks of befriending the Weasley twins, there was also the slight disadvantage of how social and outgoing they were which meant you were more often than not pushed away from them, since so many people, specially girls, wanted to be with them as well. You couldn’t blame them, there was something so alluring about Fred and George’s personality that sometimes you were shocked how the whole school wasn’t in love with them both.
“Don’t look so gloomy, (Y/N). Our house just won the Quidditch Cup for the first time in several years.” Lavender Brown giggled, shoving a cup in your hands. “Have a drink. You look so off-putting just standing there, doing nothing at all.”
“Don’t you have something a bit... stronger?” you questioned, eyeing the pumpkin juice in the cup you were holding.
“I might just have a few shots. Someone from seventh year was able to get a few bottles of Firewhiskey, if you’re interested.” The girl explained as you both made your way to the drink’s table. “I don’t know if they hid it better so the younger ones don’t get drunk on it, but Dean said it was under the... Aha!” Lavender exclaimed producing a single bottle of the so desired alcohol. “I’ll pour it for you since I know how you can get when there’s Firewhiskey and Fred Weasley off with some girls involved.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Besides I won’t get drunk, don’t worry; we still have a ton of homework and I’m sure McGonagall is going to make us a ‘surprise visit’ tomorrow to see just how much we have destroyed the common room.” You stated just as your friend finished filling up the bottom of a cup, offering it to you. “Thank you.” You smiled, bringing the cup to your lips, the fiery taste immediately warming up your mouth. “It has been a long day, I needed this.”
Lavender rolled her eyes, safely hiding the bottle again, making sure none of the younger students were looking. “You are so dramatic. The game wasn’t even that long. Now come on, you can’t enjoy a party if you aren’t even dancing.”
It wasn’t long before the both of you joined the rest of your friends, dancing actively just as the alcohol seemed to be starting to kick in. Lavender was partially right- you did drink an awful lot every time there was a party such as this one, but you were always able to hold yourself back from getting actually drunk. You drank enough to feel slightly buzzed, but never enough so you couldn’t remember anything the morning after.
However, today was different. The overly-touchy couple dancing next to you seemed to push you to keep drinking. You knew you shouldn’t feel this way, he was just your friend and he was more than welcome to be with other girls, after all you didn’t own him, nobody did. Yet, every time it look like you weren’t bothered by their proximity anymore, Fred’s loud whisper in the girl’s ear that prompted her obnoxious laugh would make your cup reach your lips almost immediately after. You knew you weren’t just buzzed anymore, your thoughts already becoming more and more incoherent, but you couldn’t stop, you wouldn’t stop. If it meant you wouldn’t be as bothered by his hands slowly sliding down her back as her hands rummaged through his whole body, if it meant those images would be less defined than they were supposed to be, then it was fine by you.
“How about we go for a walk?” Lavender abruptly asked, turning your face towards the door. “I think it’s a bit stuffy in here, we should get some air.” She continued quickly, already pulling your arm.
“Lav, why would we do that when it’s already way past our curfew. That would be absolutely-“ as you turned your head to meet your friend’s eyes, the reason for her unusual request caught yours. Their faces, pressed together, their lips moving rapidly, hungrily, his hand on her hips, pushing her towards him, her hand in his hair, pulling it savagely.
You didn’t even have time to process how Lavender knew you were so infatuated by Fred to the point that this scenery would hurt you deeply. Sure she had made jokes about how you two should be dating but you never actually took any of those seriously. You didn’t even think about the possibility that others might know as well, something you so deeply wished to keep as a secret, in fear it would ruin your friendship with the boy. You felt tears starting to prick in your eyes, pushing through the crowd and out of the common room. Why were you even so upset? Fred didn’t owe you anything, he was you friend and nothing more, that had been made very clear, specially tonight. You made your way to the Astronomy Tower, carefully passing by a lecturing Bloody Baron and a remorseful looking Peeves, so as not to bring yourself any unwanted attention.
When you reached the top, you sat down, looking up at the stars. Ever since you were little, looking at the stars would always help you calm down, see the bigger picture, they would always make you feel better.
“You know, these stars are nothing compared to the ones I’ve seen in your eyes.” The booming voice startled you, but you didn’t need to turn around to know to whom that voice belonged to. “Why did you run away like that, we were in the middle of a celebrating my big win.” Fred smiled taking a seat besides you.
“Oh, right, what a big win it was.” You spat, scooting away from him. The Firewhiskey you had previously drank seemed to be giving you some unnecessary confidence. “Why don’t you go back to your big win. I’m sure she is missing your lips so much.”
“Love, are you jealous?” Fred laughed, closing the gap between you two once more.
“So now you’re aware of my feelings? All this time I’ve been in love with you but only now are you realising I may have feelings too?” The alcohol was doing quite a number on you as it took you a moment to process your own words. “Did I just say that out loud?” You grimaced, getting up from your spot, and ready to once again run away. Many could argue running away from your problems wasn’t the key to solving them, but you would beg to differ, since in this case it seemed like it was the only solution.
“You did, (Y/N), and honestly can’t say I’m surprised after the way you acted tonight.” Fred grinned, pulling himself up and in between your body and the door, far too quickly for your own liking, preventing you from escaping this disastrous conversation. “I guess since we are giving this whole honestly thing a try, I should do it was well: I did kiss that girl back there but I couldn’t stop picturing you in my arms your hands on my hair, your lips on mine. I was doing it so much that I even ended up moaning your name. I guess you can assume she wasn’t too happy about it, but who would be, imagine getting the chance to kiss me, the most gorgeous specimen there is, just to realise I’m not thinking about you at all.
You stared at him, disbelief prominent in your features. “Right sorry, point is, that is when I saw you running away to this place, and obviously I had to follow you to make sure you weren’t getting into to trouble... At least not without me. Nice spot by the way. Gorgeous view, calm and quite, it’s honestly splendid.”
“I’m sorry, you did what?!” Had he actually called out your name in the middle of making out with another girl? Had he actually pictured you, in her place, with him? You felt your legs give under your weight, as you slid back onto the floor. “You like me as well?” You questioned, hopefully.
“I never said that...” he started, but you quickly interrupted.
“Just admit that I’m right.” You breathed, forcing him to sit down in front of you. “Please?”
“(Y/N), I don’t like you...” He explained, kneeling next to you. “I love you, have loved you since our first year actually. The moment you got really angry at me and Georgie for pulling a prank on you so you pulled one back, I just knew you were the one for me.” He continued, resting his hands on your face. “I’m just admired someone as smart as you took so long to figure that out.”
“You were the one loudly making out with someone else at the party, not me.” You argumentes, leaning towards him.
“Fair enough, but in my defense, I was so strongly convinced someone like you couldn’t possibly like me back that I was trying my best to get you out of my head, thus my many, unfortunate, shared kisses with that girl. Wait, was it really that loud?” He asked making you smile. “Why I ever made such an idiotic decision, I will never know.” His features mimicked yours, as he sat next to you resting his arm on your shoulders. “You know you’ve made me very self conscious of my own kissing abilities, right?”
You jolted yourself up, capturing his lips in yours as the both of you moved in sync, his hands resting on your hips, yours on his neck. “Loud but magnificent.” You laughed, sitting back in your original position, your head resting in his shoulder.
“Mm, if I knew you kissed like that, I wouldn’t have even let you out of my side for a second, tonight.” Fred hummed appreciatively.
It had been fairly quick until you felt your body become progressively more tired to the point you could barely hold in your yawning.
“It’s okay to sleep, love.” You heard Fred’s voice besides you. “You did drink quite a lot tonight, don’t think I didn’t notice. I’ll just carry you back to the dorm, don’t worry.”
“But you can’t get inside my room, remember?” You lazily stated, feeling your eyes close once more.
“I guess you’ll be lucky enough to sleep with me tonight.” He lightly laughed at his own comment, taking your hand in his, admiring how well the both of them fit together. “(Y/N)?” He questioned once he noticed the lack of response from your side. “Are you still awake?”
Yet, once again, you didn’t respond, the alcohol completely taking control over your body, making you fall asleep almost instantly after reminding Fred of the difficulty in entering your dorm room. The boy just shook his head, a smile playing in his lips, trying to picture back the moment you had first confessed your feelings to him. Winning the Quidditch Cup and getting the girl he had longed for so long, in the same day? This was surely a day he would remember very fondly for years to come, and he could hardly wait to share the news with his twin brother.
just imagine if draco had fangs:
♡ he would try so hard to hide them
♡ he'd keep his head down during meals, cover his mouth when he had to talk, and didnt smile
♡ which worked until pansy got nosey
♡ pansy one day tackled draco in the common room, pinned his hands down, and tickled him
♡ draco tried to bite his lip and hide his teeth but he really couldnt hold back his laughter
♡ pansy never beamed so bright, "HOLY SHIT DRAY, YOU HAVE FA-" "shush!!!"
♡ after pansy found out draco BEGGED her to not tell anyone, to which she complied
♡ well, not exactly
♡ she told blaise, and blaise laughed so hard and proceeded to call draco a vampire for a week
♡ "have you ever given someone a hickey?" pansy had asked one day. dracos face flushed as he shook his head "well you're clearly crushing on potter, you should give him one" "oH MY- PANSY"
♡ but when all fun and games was done, blaise and pansy were SO protective
♡ seriously, draco almost never got picked on, simply because pansy knew a mean jelly legs jinx and blaise's slug vomiting hex was brutal
♡ and this tactic worked painfully well, until harry, hermione, and ron came along
♡ WOW WERE THEY PAINFULLY PERSISTENT
♡ "c'mon, i wanna talk to draco, not his bodyguards" "bug off, potter"
♡ truth was, harry had fallen HARD for the blonde and he was desperate to talk to him. but literally no one except pansy and blaise had ever heard him speak before
♡ ron and hermione were only bugging them because they were sick and tired of hearing harry swoon over a boy he had never met "his eyes are so bright! they're such a pretty gray and practically sparkle in the sun" "harry. we're trying to do pOTIONS HOMEWORK"
♡ but pansy wasnt budging and neither was blaise. until draco stepped in.
♡ harry, hermione, and ron had approached the three one day after class and before pansy could say another, draco waved softly at them. harry could have sworn part of his soul melted away. blaise almost peed himself before he nearly screeched "uHm, excuse me mister malfoy have you possibly forgotten a certain something???" draco rolled his eyes and walked up to the three, holding out his hand to shake. hermione moved first, shaking his hand and grinning "hermione granger" draco nodded. ron and harry stood frozen. ron was still amazed that draco had walked over to the trio while harry was amazed at dracos overall existence. harry was painfully in love.
♡ from that point on, draco and his friends spent as much time as possible with the golden trio. sure, draco and harry were the closest, but they all were still really close. you would often find hermione and pansy tucked away in the library doing homework or blaise and ron plotting a prank against someone. draco and harry tended to stay in one of their dorms, cuddled agaisnt each other, reading aloud a book. harry tended to be the one reading aloud, considering the fact that draco mumbled when he spoke. when the six of them were together, it usually was pretty calm. they were just enjoying each other's presence. occasionally ron would start plotting a prank against a ravenclaw who bumped into him in the hallway, but that only lasted so long before pansy convinced him that a tickling hex was stupid
♡ while they spent all this time together, draco hid his fangs surprisingly well
♡ he didnt speak much, covered his mouth when he laughed, and ate with his head down
♡ and this worked until hermione approached him and demanded answers
♡ draco, startled, rushed away in tears
♡ he ran to pansy and blaise and asked them what to do. they gave draco the answer he really didnt wanna hear; tell her the truth
♡ so draco decided to fess up to the golden trio
♡ he invited them all for a study session in his dorm room, and reluctantly gave them a toothy grin
♡ ron screamed like a girl, hermione gasped, and harry's jaw dropped
♡ draco began to regret it before hermione screeched "I KNEW IT" and everyone laughed
♡ ron, much like blaise, assumed he was a vampire and proceeded to call him count draco for a week. hermione simply made him answer endless questions "how long have you had them, are you actually a vampire, is there a reason for them, do you have to change your diet?" "uh..."
♡ harry just giggled "is this why you have a lisp?"
♡ draco was immensely grateful for the support, well, he was until one of them let it slip to seamus who told dean who told neville who told luna who told ginny...yeah everyone knew by the end of the day
♡ which is how draco gained a fanclub
♡ yeah. you heard me. he had a fanclub. he had a group of at least 10 girls following him at all times asking him for a smile or to bite them
♡ and this went on for about a week or so before, in front of the entirety of the great hall, harry slammed him against a wall and kissed him
♡ "HELL YEAH, POWERMOVE!!" -pansy
♡ no one ever asked draco to bite them again. except harry
♡ "have you ever bit your tongue?"
♡ "hey dray~" "potter go away, im not going to bite you again"
♡ i forgot to mention the unfortunate fact that draco still had a fan club
♡ pansy was in said fan club
♡ "harry! kiss me!" draco spoke quickly as he ran into the library one day. his fan club had been following him all day, this was usually the only way he could shake them off; harry and him making-out. harry happily obliged and pulled draco into a soft kiss. eventually the two heard frustrated huffs and a mumble of 'he does this every time' as the group left. draco pulled back and grinned. he did do it every time, and it worked every time, too
♡ "OW!" "what? what happened?" "...i bit my tongue..."
♡ draco may not drink blood, but he did eat LOTS of meat, so much so, the house elves put extra stakes on the slytherin table every dinner
♡ once, blaise and ron pinned draco down and dropped blood down his throat (how they got it, draco was too disturbed to ask)
♡ draco swallow it and blaise went ballistic "COUNT DRACOULA!! COUNT DRAY!!" he had screamed before draco cut him off "BLAISE!! stop it! fine, ill admit it, im half vampire. but i dont drink blood and dont have venom in my fangs. i just will eat anything!" blaise flushed "so no count dracoula?"
♡ eventually, draco coughed up that he was half vampire to pansy, hermione, and harry
♡ they all were chill about it, assuming that from the beginning
♡ harry was cuddled up against draco once when they boy sighed and pulled out a raw chicken with his pocket
♡ "draco. you cant stock raw meat in your pockets, youll smell!"
♡ draco still did it anyway
not quite sure where this idea came from but i kinda like vampy dray
MC House Challenge! ❤️💛💙💚
This is  @kyril-hphm ‘s amazing idea!  I wanted to do it daays days ago but... Some shit happens everyday right? And ı also wanted to try different style to draw hairs, ım sure one day ım gonna figure it out. (ı realized ı made their eyes color wrong...damn.)
So here ı am with my girls!
Tumblr media
İts turn out a bit long, so ım putting this button here. İf you want to know girls better, just click it!
Gryffindor Night ❤️
She is LOUD. You think Slytherin Night is loud enough? Just wait to hear this Gryffindor's voice. Bill use her in the mornings when a few Gryffindor couldn’t wake up in the time. Also need a silent moment in the common room? Just ask her, ım pretty sure even Ravenclaw Tower can hear her "Shut the fuck up!"
Also yes, this Night is not shy about swearing. But she is mostly creating absurd swear sentences. "For the fuck sake Merula, ı dont give a fuck about your fucking power GO AWAY AND FUCK SOMEBODY ELSES EAR WİTH ALL YOUR SHİT" As you can guess, she is bff with Merula.
İf you cant hear her voice, there is 2 possible place she can be. Quidditch Pitch and detention.
She is playing as a Chaser and this is the one of the only way to shut her up. Like Rath, she let her skills speak for her.  Even its just a practise, Night is always so focussed in game, sometimes her looks scaring Charlie away. She really loves Quidditch, this adrenaline. Oh and she loves the victory of course. That makes her second Skye. Poor poor Orion..
For the detention part, she is in there more than she is in  her own dorm room. Unlike Slytherin Night, she is a fan of Tonks and Tulip's pranks and loves to mess with grumpy Filch. Also detention is not that bad. With Jae here, there is always a way to have fun. Charlie always says that one day Night and Jae's closeness will blow their towers up. Everyone is just waiting for this day. Even McG.
Lets talk about her relationship with Jacob. They were really close when they are little. Because of their last name's bad popularity (ım planning to explain this later), they didnt have any friend other than each other. When Jacob left home, she lost not just her brother but also her best friend too. (Lucky for her, in Hogwarts there will be Rowan)
She dyed her hair red right before coming Hogwarts. To show everyone how she is gonna be Gryffindor just like her brother. Also while everyone talking shit about Jacob, Night refused to believe her precious brother can do something bad like that.
giggles Wanna gossip about her? Like her best friend ,she has a big fat crush on Bill. You should see how she blush when Bill compliment her. She cant help it he is "too fucking cool"!
Night and Rowan spend so many nights to talking and fangirling about him. But after realizing that he see her as a sibling,  not a lover, she was a little heartbroken and tried to date some other guys who is like him. She ended up single of course, because no one can be perfect like him.
İf you want chaos, Gryffindor Night is your girl!
Hufflepuff Night 💛
My favorite thing about this Night is her smile. İts so warm and full of love..I should admit she is the purest Night but she is too good for her own. This is the why she is entire Hufflepuff's little sister. Especially Diego's. But nor she or me can decide that he fancy her or just love her as a little sister. you know, because its Diego...
Not so suprisingly ,She loves to take care of her friends, just like Orj Night, but this girl is doing it more serious. She is the mom friend of their group. She is gonna make sure you eat all your meal and drink enough water. And if you didnt, well you need to deal with her.  Also Night will remind you to take right books for your class if you two have same class. "Did you study for todays quiz? Oh why didnt you?! Come on ı can tutor you! We only got 11 minutes but nevermind that!" Dont worry she got you. Aand One more thing, she has best shoulder to cry. Im not kidding, she will hug you until you feel better and ı can guarentee you that her kind hug and angelic voice will help you calm down.
İn the other hand, Huff Night is not good at handling her own bad emotions. Her anxiety level is a little higher than other Night's.
She is not a "so different" person. İts her words not mine. Being Rhea makes her a little bit special of course but not in the good way. She is just average girl with a unlucky family, thats all. She loves her loved ones more than she loves herself, and always wish that she can be powerfull just to protect them. But sadly she dont believe she can, she is not like Merula. Not that brave or confident . Or Tonks. Not that talented. Or Penny. Not that pretty and popüler. Aah ah, this pure girl has a lot in her mind(or should ı say her heart?) but so shy to talk about them. Damn girl, go and talk about this to Rowan (While you still can...Can you imagine how she break after she cant save her best friend..?)
Enough, İts time to tell you happy thing about her life!   She was very suprised and happy (but mostly suprised) when Merula ask Night to be her date. They started to date in fourth year. (Everyone thanked Night for making Merula more calm and tolerable. Night said that Merula dont need to be tolerated)  Well they have their up and downs of course. Before Rakepick betray them, fifth year was pretty good (Night cried for her girlfriend when she learn about Merula's parent) but unfortunate thing  that  happened in buried vault, made their hearts to apart. Night still love her deeply and wishes  she was powerfull enough to save her from Rakepick so they would still next to each other now.(I know ı said "happy thing". Thats why ı wont tell you that after Rowan's death Night thinks maybe its best if Merula far from her. No ı wont tell you that)
But dont worry about her! She is gonna smile no matter what because her smile can make someone else smile too! İf you love tea and cookie, please let her know your favorite cookie. Her mom sending her delicious Turkish tea and she will be happy to share with you!
Ravenclaw Night 💙
After Slytherin Night, Ravenclaw Night is my second favorite. I really love her general mood.
As you can see, she is the only Prefect Night. And there is simple reason for that, she is perfectionist. She didnt became Prefect because she wants to help others, she became one to make sure everything is right. All other Night helped their Rowan to be Prefect but Ravenclaw Night dont believe that other Ravenclaw's will listen Rowan. She herself is more suited, just like Chester. (She really respect Chester) But dont get me wrong, Night dont underestimated Rowan. She just believe Prefect should be more serious and Rowan's heart is so pure for that.
And unlike Hufflepuff Night, this girl have a lot faith in herself. When Night is doing something, she knows it will be perfect because she wont stop untill its perfect.
I should warn you about her, she loves to complain. "Damn ı have to do all work. Why cant you do anything  right on your own? İt was easy, even for you. Go and do something else ım gonna finish this one. No stop wait dont do anything. Just. Go."
Just like this,she can easily tell "rude" words. Even if she didnt trying to be rude.  She is just saying whats true! İts not her fault that truth is more bitter than lies. And sorry but truth has to be told. Even if someones heart can get hurt. Lies can make everything worse than a little heartbreak. İts like a poison that tastes good and late effecting. They should thank her for not poisoning them.
Her friends? She dont have a lot. Because of her rude attitude, a lot of people dont get near her often. Fine by her. She dont want "extras" anyways. Her little group of friends is enough for her. Also she have Rowan, right? Rowan is her true soulmate. This two girls can spent hours in library and this is their favorite hang out. Honestly all Night need is Rowan and some book, she can live without any other people, thanks. But she can admit Talbott and Badea are pretty good too. Especially Talbott. He is her second best friend, if she has to give it a number. (This two became friends a little too fast. They have so many similarities. Biggest one is "Fuck Peoples" motto. They even have a ugly t-shirt that saying that. Andre died when he saw it for the first time.)
I think her mom Selina is responsible for Night's reckless behaviour. She was already angry to Jacob for leaving her behind and being ignored by her only parent makes her..ıdk, like that? She tried so hard to make Selina to notice her daughter is still with her.Tried to make her portrait with her pastel pencils, tried to brush her long hair and dressed like a princess, tried to write " I love you" in her mirror.  But little Night's little heart couldnt understand that pain of losing her son (just like how she lose her husband.) When she came to Hogwarts, she give up about her mom." İf a mother dont need to worry about her own child, then ı dont need to worry about anyone else too." But of course, she is not that heartless like she likes to think.
I think you can imagine that other students calls her names. Like "freak" or "selfish" or "egoist". She mostly just ignore them (because she dont believe they are worth to explain why she is not these name) and pretend like nothing had happened, Talbott and Rowan know she actually care and wants to be more "good". More "likeable". She is just making everyone uncomfortable when she walks in and she know it. But there is nothing she can do. İts in her blood. She is just like her mother.
I feel like ı talk too much about bad thing. İts time to tell moments when Ravenclaw Night smile. She dont have a normally smiley face but of course she smile. And you know what? İts mostly because of her boyfriend. This girl has a big soft spot for Barnaby. She literally melt every time he talk. İn the beggining she thinks he is just some stupid Slytherin and not worth lose any time but after being friends (which is a miracle) she can punch you in the face if you call him stupid. (Dont test about how hard she can punch.)
How the heck this boys heart can be this beautiful? Like, boy your parents nothing but shit to you how did you turn into biggest and cutest puppy in the world? And again, how did he love her? I mean, look at Night and look at Barnaby. They are so different and he can be with literally every witch in schooli and yet he is with Night. She dont know what she did to be this lucky but she is not planning to let him go. Just watch her.
(And ı dont know if she will notice you if you dont talk with her. She will talk with you politely at first, dont worry. Just try to not say something about her being bad prefect or something bad about her friends or boyfriend, you will be fine.)
Slytherin Night 💚
It's finally Original Night's turn to shine. How about starting with why she is most masculine looking Night?
İt was because of Selina. After Jacob left, he was the only thing Selina talk about. She talked about how she misses him playing violin, his eyes that he took from her husband, his gentle voice. Unlike Ravenclaw Night, this didnt make our Night angry. İt made her jealous. She decided that if she wants to make her mom happy, she should remind her Jacob. Maybe if she can do this, her mom would miss him less and smile more to Night. So she asked Selina to cut her hair like Jacob's.
While she growing, she tried to act like Jacob. She learned violin, wore his old clothes. She even answered when Selina called her "Jacob". And it worked. Selina started to smile more, started to talking with her more, even she cook  special meals sometimes. Menu was always full with Jacob's favorites but it doesnt matter to Night. Her mom did it for her!
İn Hogwarts, she learned that she is nothing like Jacob. Hello,  dissappointment. She was too loud, too energetic, too friendly. She learned that she can't be Jacob for her mom. At first, it  freaked her out.
Thats why she didnt want to go Celestial Ball. Didnt want to wear dress and made her hair longer. (She did want. She just didnt let herself.) And when Andre and Rowan keep asking about,, Night finally tell them everything. You know what happened? Her two angel friends talked about hours how they love her in the way she is, how she dont need to be Jacob because its her own life and she deserved to be happy.
After a lot of hugs and crying, Night wore the dress that match her name, kept her hair short.
I made this too longer ı guess ( ı was planning not to tell about Slytherin Night...) but ı always wanted to explain why ı love her. İm proud of that she can make her peace with herself. Selina is still problem for her, and still will be problem in the future too but right now Night is free from the cage she made it herself. Of course sometimes her anxiety hit her and made her feel like she is all wrong but its not a something a few late night flying cant solve.
Am ı gonna make it longer because ı wanna talk about Night and Talbott relationship? No, there will be another time for that.
She is always open for more friends. Wanna play quidditch or make/ listen music or drink tea or cook something? Night will be happy to join you in literally everything.
She never knew what would have happened, she never imagined that one simple thing would cause her to lose the love of her life. She didn't know by accepting to go to Hogwarts with her bestfriends she would have met the love of her life, or that the love of her life would end up dead in her arms because of a grave mistake she made. Draco Malfoy is the reason that the love of her life was dead and she would make him pay if it was the last thing she did.
Skys pov
7 and a half years ago I started school with my best friend, Ron Weasley. It was one of the best experiences ever, with many surprises along the way. One of these being I fell in love with Ron's brother, Fred. As long as I’d known the family, Fred always helped me with things and helped me pull pranks on my friends. I had always looked up to him, but I didn’t mean to fall in love with him. Ron and I even had a list of “rules” and a certain rule said I was not allowed to fall in love with his siblings. Funny how things happened.
~YEAR ONE~
“Ron how much of an idiot could you be to say that to her after everything she's helped you with already”
I had screamed at my red faced best friend. He had once again not used his head and told Hermoine Granger how much of a know it all she was. Not that he was wrong, but it was uncalled for. “Sky is right Ron, she just helped you in charms class and you humiliated her in return,” Harry agreed. Ron just looked at us like we were insane for calling him out.
“Oh bloody hell not you two ganging up on me.” Ron yelled in the great hall
“You're just mad because you know Sky is right.”
I looked up to see Fred and George joining the conversation. Those two were always getting into trouble, or watching it. Or both. Those boys made everything a bit more interesting and always found a way to make people laugh.
Ron looked at Fred like he just got stabbed in the gut and walked off furiously.
“Bloody hell you've done it now Sky” Harry shouted at me, chasing after Ron. He would come to his senses later on.
I look across the table to where Fred and George now sit and they just smirk at me like they've played the biggest joke.
“What do you guys want,” I glared at them.
George just looks at fred and then back at me and leaves without a single word
“Hey sky” Fred looks at me as if im this puzzle hes trying to figure out
“Yes fred? Can I help you with something” I ask him sarcastically.
“No, I just wanted to tell you that was bloody brilliant of you the way you made Ronald so angry.”
I look at him in shock. I was not expecting that at all.
“It was never my intention to make him angry and even if it was I certainly didn't do it to impress you. Good day Fred.” I silently make my way back to the Slytherin common room, wondering what my time at Hogwarts would bring.
~YEAR TWO~
The summer before my second year at Hogwarts was an amazing experience for me. I traveled all around the world with my parents. Sadly, my parents are close friends with the Malfoys, so I had to spend some time with Draco since our families went on a vacation together. I wasn’t thrilled at the idea but Draco is actually quite mellow and easy to get along with once you get to know him. He asked a lot about Hermione however, asking about how she’s doing. He must have some sort of crush on her, which is odd considering she hates muggle-borns like the rest of his family. My family also dislikes muggle-borns except for me. I’m always the odd one out. My travels around the world made my summer very enjoyable, but I was ready to get back to hogwarts and spend the year with my friends. New adventures await and I am ready. “SKY” I hear someone shout my name on the platform when we reach Hogwarts. I turn, recognizing that voice as easy as my own; “RON” soon i'm tackled to the ground with red hair in my face.
“Bloody hell Ron I missed you too but did you really have to tackle me to the ground!!?”
“Sorry about that Sky, i just haven't seen you all summer. I missed you.”
I look at him in shock before I roll my eyes.
“Don't go getting soft on me Weasley,” I say.
His eyes so wide
“Me? Never. How was your summer sky”
I walk beside him to try and go find harry and hermione
“It was amazing my parents and I traveled a lot”
He looks at me in shock before deciding to speak his mind
“You hate being alone with your parents..how was it amazing?”
“Oh I wasn't alone with them we traveled with the Malfoys and it was quite amazing if i'm being honest”
He looks at me with anger in his eyes before slapping me across the face
“BLOODY HELL RON WHAT WAS THAT FOR”
All eyes in the great hall turn to us both draco and fred look at us and rush over to us
“Stay away from me salvatore.” ron screams at you and in that moment you felt your heart break into a thousand pieces
“Salvatore? Really because I spent the summer with Draco and his family you hate me now?”
I wait for his answer with tears streaming down my cheeks
“You know what he did to me...to my family. You are the only one who knows so yes I hate you. When you decide who your real friends are come find me”
I just look at him in absolute shock
“GO TO HELL WEASLEY”
Fred looks at me with pity before running after his brother. Draco comes closer to me and looks at me;
“Sky?”
I know he's talking but i can't even breathe or register what just happened
“Sky it's me, Draco come on love lets get you out of here”
I don't move or say anything until he touches my arm and pulls me into a hug and that's when i break
“Oh god oh god oh god what did i do oh my god” I break down into sobs and its hard to breathe and everyone is staring at draco and i
“Draco”
I look up at him with fear in my eyes
“I know Sky, come on i'll get you out of here”
Before walking out of the great hall with Draco I see Fred watching me silently asking if i'm okay but i can't deal with anymore weasley drama so i just walk out ignoring his gaze.
A few months later Draco and I have become quite close ever since the breakdown on the first day back. If Draco is not at quidditch practice he's with you, you couldn't find Draco without finding me. I still miss Ron a lot and I miss Harry and Hermione but they hate my guts all because I'm friends with Draco. I still talk to the twins from time to time and I always enjoy that, but it's not the same as having Ron as my best friend.
I was walking to potions with Draco when I felt a shoulder hit mine and I fell to the ground. I looked up to see Ron and some 3rd year laughing. I look around hoping draco is somewhere around and to my horror he's on top of ron punching him over and over again
“HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH HER YOU FILTHY WEASLEY”
“DRACO STOP IT! STOP IT DRACO '' I start screaming at him but he doesn't budge until I grab his shoulder and he just pushes me to the ground and I just stare up in horror at him.
“Sky oh my god I’m so sorry” draco is suddenly at my side as if he just wasn't beating the living hell out of someone who i still consider my best friend.
“Draco no. don't touch me dont look at me, don't even talk to me. I trusted you and you hurt the person I care about more than anything else, you were a best friend to me and you hurt my best friend no screw that my family. It doesn't matter what he's done. I love him and I trusted you.”
With that I walked away from the only person I had left.
I had expected to spend the rest of the year alone but a few hours later sitting in the library silently crying into my potions textbook i feel a pair of eyes on me i assume it's the same pair that's been on me all night
“Fred i know you're there you can stop pretending to study we both know you don't study especially for potions”
I hear him chuckle before he pulls a seat up next to me and makes me look at him wiping the tears off my face
“What's wrong gorgeous”
I look at him in shock and i can feel my cheeks heat up
“First of all i'm not gorgeous and second i lost my best friend and then i lost draco and he's all i had left”
He looks at me and just pulls me into a hug and i start sobbing into his chest
“I miss him so much Fred”
He just pulls me in tighter and holds me till i stop sobbing
“Love, listen to me, you are so beautiful. And i know rons been an asshole to you this year but he misses you too”
I look at him in doubt
“Then why has he beat me up all year?”
i hear footsteps behind us and i see another red haired boy but not his face so i assume its George but i finally see the strangers face to see Ron
“Ronald..”
“Hey sky..can we talk?
I look at Ron in shock before shaking my head
“Look Sky i know i was a world class jerk this year and for that i'm sorry, i know that the past few years have been hard on you with everything that your dad did to you and i'm sorry i slapped you, i miss my bestfriend im sorry and i know you probably hate me and never wanna s-”
“Shut up Ron” and i tackle him in the biggest hug
“I love you sky”
“AWW RON YOU GOT SOFT ON ME”
Ron just rolls his eyes at me
“Lets go Sky”
~YEAR 3~
“Ron can you believe we are already back at hogwarts!”
I look up at him waiting for a response
“I cant believe im stuck with you again even after you spent the whole summer with us” he snarkily replied
“Oh weasley you love me”
Ron just rolls his eyes and continues his walk to the great hall trying to find the rest of our friends, finally finding hermione and harry we all sit down talking when all of a sudden Ron is screaming at a spider he seeing on the table and fred is laughing and the spider disappears
“Seriously fred?!”
Ron looks at Fred in anger as Fred runs off
“God what an ass”
I look at fred before responding “I know”
Ron looks between fred and I before yelling at me
“HEY HEY RULE NUMBER 9”
“Oh come on as if”
He looks at me in doubt
“Yeah tell that to the drool”
“OH WHATEVER”
I roll my eyes and shove ron while sneaking glances at fred and i see him winking at me and i blush even after 2 months of dating in secret he does those things and i still get flustered. I know that if Ron found out he would kill me but this summer I fell for Fred hard and he was there for me for things i couldn't tell Ron.
A few hours later I'm sitting in the Slytherin commons looking at a picture of Fred and I'm wondering how I got so lucky to have him as my boyfriend when Draco and his goblins come in and sit down next to me.
“Can i help you boys with something?” i snarkily ask them
“Just curious about something sky, how did a broken girl like you get a guy like Fred?” Draco asks with that smug look on his face that I want to slap off his face.
“I don't know what you mean by broken and as for fred i didn't get him we are just friends”
Draco rolls his eyes before saying something that shocks me
“Sky you forget we were fairly close last year, i helped you with all your panic attacks and was there when you had nightmares and helped you through your depressive episodes and as for Fred i know as well as you do that you guys are dating you look at him like he's your world.”
I look at Draco in shock with tears in my eyes before i hear what else he adds
“And let's be honest, Sky he could never love someone as broken as you, he'll leave you just like your brother did and just like everyone you've ever loved has. He don't want to stick around for someone as broken as you”
With tears streaming down my face I ran out of the commons in search of my boyfriend. I see a few 1st year gryffindors and ask them if they've seen Fred and they let me know he's in the east corridor with Ron and George, i can feel myself getting lightheaded and dizzy like i always do when i get panic attacks. I finally see his red hair and i yell his name;
“FRED” and with that I collapse not being able to hold myself up anymore
“Sky? Baby what happened?”
I suddenly realize that he's with Ron and I see how hurt Ron looks in that moment but I can't focus on that right now because my sight goes blurry with all the tears streaming down my face and I start sobbing into Freds chest.
“Shh its okay darling i'm here”
A few minutes later though it feels like hours. I've finally calmed down and I can stand up on my own. I look up at Ron and see his face morph from worried to anger.
“Ron can we talk?” i look at him with sadness in my eyes
“No but i will, how could you do this to me Sky after everything i've done for you how could you betray me like this?” he asks me that with anger and betrayal in his eyes.
“I DIDN'T CHOOSE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM RON '' i blurt out before i realize what i said i run away not wanting to see the look on ron or fred's face.
Im sobbing in the west corridor when i see draco come up to me and try and talk to me but before he can say anything im walking away to the pond i always used to go to when i needed to think, i hear someone following me i assume it's fred coming to break up with me but i turn around to come face to face with a platinum blonde malfoy boy staring at my brown eyes.
“What do you want malfoy? Come to make me question myself even more?”
He looks at me with what looks to be an apologetic look on his face?
“No i came to apologize i never meant to hurt you, i was hurting and i miss you and i'm sorry. Are you okay sky? You don't seem okay”
I look at him softly before putting on my facade of happiness on before i reply
“Im perfect draco no need to worry about me. And for the record i miss you too”
His face softens before he replies with something that shocks me
“ Sky you was my best friend, i know you're not okay you don't need to lie to me, let me help you. We can be friends again. I can help you the way the weasleys can't. You know I know what it's like to feel the way you do so why not let me help you.”
“Draco are you kidding me? You broke me last year seeing you beat ron up..it hurt me. I was..i was falling in love with you and you broke my heart. Besides my best friend despises you I can't lose Ron again ``I remark like it's a fact.
He just stares at me in shock, “you were in love with me?”
I look at him like it was the most idiotic question ever, “i was starting to but im not anymore like i said you broke my heart and you know what? Fred fixed it. I'm in love with him and i'm pretty sure he's gonna leave me, because who could ever love someone as broken as me?”
“I could” says a voice behind Draco and that I recognize as my boyfriend.
I turn around to face the one and only Fred Weasley
“Fred..hey”
He smiles at me
“Come on my love let's take a walk”
I go with fred before turning around and running up to draco and hugging him before whispering “i'd love to be friends but ron cant find out” then i say louder, “thank you draco for making sure i'm okay”
I then run back to my boyfriend and walk with him and it's silent but not in an awkward way it's a comfortable silence before he finally says something,
“I love you sky”
I look at him and reply back with love in my eyes
“I love you weasley”
The rest of the year went by quickly with stolen kisses from fred dirty looks from ron and stolen conversations with draco i spent the first part of summer break with draco and the last 2 months with fred and his family, ron still hating me.
~YEAR FOUR~
When we return back to Hogwarts, im honestly in shock of how far i've come the past 3 years and how much i've learned and grown. I've fallen in love and I've gained and lost friends. Ron still hates me for dating his brother he refused to talk to me all summer but here we all are running from an attack for he who must not be named and his followers, i can hear Hermione's screams and then someone grabs me and i start screaming
“FRED” i start screaming
“SKY WHERE ARE YOU”
And then i see draco and then the guy who grabbed me is on the ground
“Sky are you okay?”
I look at him and look back at the stranger on the ground
“Uh yeah i'm okay thank you draco. I should get back to fred and the group but seriously thank you”
“No need to thank me darling,i'll always be here to protect you”
I wonder what he means by that but I forget about it quickly after being back in Freds arms.
Over the course of my 3rdyear i had gotten particularly close with a certain Hufflepuff named Cedric Diggory, that only increased over the summer, now it wasn't like that, i had fred and i love him. Cedric was like my big brother. I could tell anything too. We were as close as Fred and George are. As soon as his name was selected for the triwizard tournament I had this feeling in my stomach that it wouldn't go well. But like i said he was basically my big brother so i supported him i was there throughout everything and i started to think maybe i was wrong and it would turn out okay in the end. Oh how wrong I was. As soon as Harry came back with Cedric's body I let out a blood curdling scream. Fred looks at me with worry and tries to get me out of the stadium but i run up to harry and tackle him and start shouting
“WHAT DID YOU DO POTTER WHY IS MY BROTHER DEAD WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DID YOU DO”
“He's back sky..he's back.”
I look into his eyes and i know he's telling the truth
~YEAR 5~
Year five was awful for me. I didn't talk to anyone besides Fred and draco. I started hating Harry for getting Cedric killed and I started failing my classes. But at the end of the year I was in the worst place I could be. I was gonna use one of the unforgivable curses on myself. This is until Ron walked in on me and stopped me. That summer I spent it with him and Fred and they helped me get better.
~YEAR 6~
Nothing happened basically all of year 6 up until the end draco asked for my help with killing dumbledore because he was now a death eater. It was the beginning of the end of my life as i knew it, dumbledore was dead and draco wasn't the person i knew anymore. I hated him for what he did so I refused to talk to him.
~YEAR SEVEN~
Hell. i was in literal hell my whole life has ended when I saw his body it was like i was watching it as a movie like it wasnt real. I look up and see Draco holding a wand after he just performed the killing curse on the love of life. We were gonna get married have kids and now thats all gone, Fred Weasley is dead. I let out a scream and ron and george finally realize i saw the whole thing.
“Sky come on lets get out of here ill take you to your dorm” Ron calmly states while walking towards me like im a scared animal who will run away if he moves to fast.
“NO” i shout at him and he jumps, I see george walk towards me and hugs me
“Sky he loved you so much and hes never really gone, youll be okay” george whispers softly in my ear. Suddenly all i feel is rage and i push him away and i look at him the boy who has the face of the love of my life before i say something that shocks everyone,
“Fred is dead i wont be okay because he was the love of my life. Draco killed him and i swear to god, if its the last thing i do ill kill him. Hes not getting away with this.” Then i walk out of Hogwarts and dont turn back. And now im here, alone and angry. I swore id get my revenge and i will. Draco Malfoy will regret ever picking up his wand. I swear to you Fred he wont get away with this
Magical Mysteries
Summary:  Hogwarts, 1978: Ben Solo and you are the best of friends, his mother is the Minister for Magic which puts a large target on his back being the wizarding community's supposed Golden Child and the leading example for fellow witches and wizards. Being his only friend has also led you to be ostracised with him. His life has been threatened repeatedly and you stayed beside him. But, this story isn't just about him being targeted by others, it's also the tale of either your illustrious fall with him to the darker side of magic, or your own saving grace to leave him to his virtues.
Read it on AO3 here: Prologue: Trust
im so sorry for everybody who was waiting on me, things got a little crazy the past week or so at home and it put me off of writing and editing- im doing this by myself and just kind of needed a Break. i think i should be back on to weekly posting now <3
Six years had passed since you first walked into the Great Hall. Six years since you met Ben Organa-Solo. In all that time both you and Ben had changed so much physically. Where he grew much taller and broader over the years, developing into the strong young man you knew he was, you changed in ways that only accentuated your humbled attractiveness.
You let your hair grow longer and longer each year, as did Ben when he could afford to, it was the 1970s afterall, by now your hair was long enough to reach your waist. A true accomplishment since you constantly fussed with it. Eventually it settled down a lot when Ben began braiding your hair from time to time. It was a comforting task for the two of you.
The best thing that changed for you both was your developments as magical people. Your strengths in herbology and potions were only rivaled by Ben. He was also well accomplished in potions as well due to a certain tutor you both shared, but he soared in charms and astronomy. Although your studies were close to perfection, everything else was not.
Your first year was as difficult you could have possibly imagined but you were forever grateful for having Ben with you. When you arrived with little to nothing but your full-blood Kneazle, something you’d deny your cat ever was, you felt overwhelmingly unprepared in comparison to the other students.
Ben had been gracious enough to help conceal your cat’s heritage and in doing so, coined his name, Anubis. You, in turn, named his great horned owl Athena. Both your companions took not only a liking to their new names but also to each other and would often be seen cozying about somewhere in the Slytherin common room. Ben never let you go without whenever he could, always bringing you whatever supplies you might have needed “just because”.
Since the two of you had begun your magical education, you minded to yourselves as best you could. It did prove to be rather difficult. Some of the elder Gryffindor students were almost always on your case because you had taken to defending another Slytherin boy. You and Ben caught a group of boys dangling him from his ankle, high in the sky using magic.
You disarmed the apparent leader, one James Potter. This led to a mild brawl between the group of bullies and you and Ben. Peter, the rat-faced boy ran away, the one named Sirius fought Ben and you fought James. Remus opted out of this small brawl and saw it as “unmanly” to hit you. You were sure to add a few well placed punches on James for that to prove a point.
When all was said and done, you ended up with a black eye and a few bruises. Ben, on the other hand, had fractured ribs, a broken nose, and a couple bite marks- he wasn’t happy about that. The boy in question was older by two years and his name was Severus Snape. He wasn’t fond of either of you at first but you bugged him enough to at least be tolerated by him.
As a result of the fight, Dumbledore was advised to expel you both, the bullies included, but the Ministry sent an advisor to meet with the Headmaster and you two were able to walk away without consequences on behalf of the school outside a bloody red howler.
It was sent by Ben’s mother who was not impressed with your chivalry as well as Ben’s “ineptitude to be a leader and not a follower”. This soured his mood for quite some time seeing as the entire school knew about it by the end of the day. Although you both left this debacle with little to no consequences, the group of Gryffindor boys were sent on a week long detention in the Forbidden Forest and lost 50 house points- each.
Ever since then, the Gryffindor house all made it a point to target you two. It didn’t bother you for the first year or so, you felt a sense of pride knowing that you did the right thing. It only became more inconvenient when they began to mess with your studies. That only fueled your drive to do better, to be better.
Ben, on the other hand, wanted less to do with this type of attention, he felt it to be too bothersome and invasive, which it was. They’d begin rumors about him, his family. All this did was further alienate him from others as they began to whisper about his background. As for you they’d only temper with your schooling since nobody knew of your father’s “infamy” in Europe.
Your fellow Slytherins either ignored both of your existences or quite simply cared to not get involved with the rivalry. Surprisingly enough, the general house feeling was to attempt winning the house cup as many years in a row as possible, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw had been dominating that title for the past four years at the very least.
The boy you defended, Severus Snape, acknowledged you two well enough eventually, offering to help your studies in potions since you had kind of guilted him into the position of tutor. You managed to begin scoring high marks since Severus made it relatively easy as he lent you his copy of Advanced Potions Making every once in a while. This alongside your affinity for botanical witchcraft seemed perfect. Aside from being your tutors, he kept to himself, much like the team you developed with the Minister's son. Alas, he wouldn’t be caught dead being seen with either of you but you would meet, albeit secretly, in one of the abandoned girls' bathrooms for his lessons once a week.
Due to Severus’ teachings you began to take to making whatever precautions you felt would be needed eventually. Ben often found himself either hurt or in need of aid and you always seemed to have his needs prepared before he even opened his mouth. This sparked his new nickname for you, Starlight. The one who always knew how to light the way.
Eventually the rumors and overall whispers began to grow more and more irritable. By the time your fifth year had rolled around, you needed to help Ben find an escape. You couldn’t sit by and watch your best friend cave into himself, becoming more reserved around you as if you were the exact same people he did not trust.
It felt like forever and a half until you found the perfect thing. You called it “The Attic”. It was not but what seemed to be but a small abandoned classroom on one of the most southern towers at the school. There was a large window facing the front of the school, where you could see the bridge that welcomed students each year if they came from the carriages. The other window facing the west allowed you to see the sunset from the room perfectly every evening.
Ben became more and more curious the more you slipped out from the common room without saying anything to him. These antics had gone on for about two weeks before he confronted you.
“Where do you think you’re going,” he warily said your name. His hand gripped your upper arm when you tried to scoot around behind him without him noticing one evening.
You felt anxious, staring at him like this, with your secret to hide, a surprise you couldn’t wait to show. “I can’t tell you yet but please,” you begged in a hushed whisper, “trust me.” Ben let go of your arm and nodded, watching you give a half smile and turn around, disappearing behind the common room doorway. He had half a mind to follow you but he stayed where he sat at the desk.
Not once in your entire friendship did he ever think about trust when it came to you. It felt like a foreign concept entirely. Being around you felt intoxicating, as if being next to you solved every problem he ever had.
Trust.
Yeah, he believes he trusts you.
He stayed put in that chair all night, even ignoring the Slytherin Head Boy calling everyone to bed for lights out. He stayed rooted in the chair, waiting for your return, clutching a letter in his hand that Athena, his wonderful owl, delivered earlier in the day. In the far corner of the room, he could hear the clock chiming, alerting him that it was now midnight.
Ben let out a heavy sigh and burned the letter, the contents lost in the flames. A problem for another day.
Deep in thought, the entry to the common room opened slowly, slipping past Ben’s attention. You walked closer behind him, watching him as he concentrated on the burning parchment.
You whispered his name and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, “Why are you still awake?”
He turned to look at you. His eyes filled with weariness and a hush of anger. “Where did you go?” He avoided your question.
You lowered your hood and flashed a big grin, excitement growing within the confines of your belly. “Let me show you tomorrow? I promise, you’ll really enjoy it.”
Ben searched your eyes and saw you were not going to hide your secret from him no longer and he conceded with a shallow nod.
The very next day, you both left dinner in the Great Hall early and you led him by his hand, taking the right hallway then a left to a spiral staircase, then up the changing stairways, up up up and up, almost not stopping.
He was beginning to get annoyed, thinking you’d led him on some wild goose chase until you stopped dead in your tracks in front of a door, you spun around, excitement making your whole body feel like it was vibrating.
“Here, this is what I’ve been working on, it’s for you- for us to come to whenever we want,” you word vomited.
Ben looked at you with furrowed brows as you gestured to the handle, encouraging him to open the door. As he did, you clapped your hands together, hoping- praying he likes this place.
Inside was the abandoned classroom you had found when you went looking for the Slytherin Prefect one day, it was dusty and filled with magical creatures that began to make their home there but now, now it was filled with a brown couch, a small bed, a brown desk, some books, a record player and vinyl, a calligraphy set, and a plethora of other, much smaller details.
When you first began to rearrange this space for the two of you, you made a deal with some of the magical beings: you would never take away their home and made a deal to share the space, even making them all small nests throughout the room, one special one filled with a small family of bowtruckles. You earned their trust by offering them some woodlice and a never ending pile of it for them.
When Ben walked into the space, his eyes darted so fast around, trying to absorb each and every detail, every piece of you that you offered to share from the muggle world with him, and the bits of him that were around, decorations you had sought to placate some of his interests like the calligraphy set- something he mentioned was a minor hobby of his since childhood.
His heart swelled with emotions- so much you have given him and he felt he has done nothing in comparison, that you are the very sunshine that peaks through the leaves on a sunny day. Tears began to well in his eyes over this grand gesture of yours.
And so, you two spent every available free time in that room, The Attic. This place truly felt like a home away from home for you both.
Ben, one of the best spell masters you knew, casted an undetectable expansion charm on a pair of satchels so you could bring stuff from home to this space, but being careful not to bring anything much too large.
You wouldn’t tell him how you managed to sneak a whole couch and bed in there, there could be a few innocent secrets between you both.
He took another turn to look around the new room for you both, letting his large hand leave featherlight touches on the items you had decorated the room in, the muggle records being his favorite- so much he didn’t know about that world. Your world. The one outside everything magical, everything he was constantly surrounded by.
“Th- thank you, Starlight.”
“Anything for you,” you smiled.
hazy shade of winter PART 1
pairing - felix rosier x mc
requested ? yep ! unfortunately i didn't get a username so i couldn’t tag them, but if this was yours please leave a comment because I loved writing this !
summary : you stay behind at hogwarts over christmas holiday and become much closer with a certain prefect while all of your friends are away...
warnings : slow burn ?
(also i haven't written anything in a hot minute so if this sucks i apologize and very much appreciate any constructive criticism as im trying to improve my writing. but im very excited this is the first fic im posting to my new account!)
It was a another freezing winter morning as I woke up unusually early, bringing the covers up over my head tossing and turning trying to fall back asleep to escape the cold for just a few more hours. I groaned throwing the heavy blanket away from my face taking in a deep breath, brushing the stray pieces of (h/c) hair from my eyes. It was no use. I was completely and fully awake, totally aware of how quite the room was without all my friends going about their usual morning routine. The only sound keeping me company today was the wind rustling harshly against my window as I stare at the ceiling now desperately wishing I had taken Rowan or even Bill’s invitation to spend the break with them. It was only the first day of holiday and I already missed them. ‘‘ it’s only two weeks.”  I tried to reassure myself.
I look over to the window the sun still not even up, “if the sun gets to sleep in i should be able to.” I frown to myself as I realize i’m going to have to get up at some point. I bite the bullet and decide to try and make to most of the day, that thought lasted all of five minutes as after I brushed my hair and teeth I couldn't be bothered to exert any more energy. Assuming I’m either the only one in slytherin who stayed behind on holiday or at the very least the only one awake at this hour I decided there would be no better way to spend these next few hours then curled up in the common room next to the fireplace getting ahead of my studies. I quickly pulled on an over sized (f/c) sweater not even bothering to change out of my pajama pants and grabbed a few textbooks as I made my way down to the common room to find it actually decorated quite nicely, a christmas tree dawned our house colors, stockings over the fireplace, and a few other decorations here and there. I smiled taking in the scene as I sat back into the couch getting as comfortable as possible before opening my potions book.
I’d say I got in a good forty-five minutes of studying before I ultimately fell asleep. Potions always seemed to do that to me, hence why Penny had to tutor me so often. I was sure I had been out for a at least an hour or two as I finally woke up yawning as a rubbed my surprisingly still tired eyes. Looking down I noticed my book set neatly on the table in front of me and a blanket covering my now very warm body. It was only then that I looked over and noticed that I was in fact not alone here. Not even two feet away from me sat a familiar form.
 “I see you are finally awake.” he didn’t sound as cold as he normally did, in fact he almost sounded pleased?
“Felix? What time is it?” was the only thing that managed to escape my lips as I was a bit shocked to see him.
“A bit after eight I suppose.” he replied marking a place in his book before sitting it on the table, turning to give me his full attention. “You know I don’t consider it wise to spend the night in the common room, I imagine it’s not very comfortable and it can get quite cold.” he added glancing down for only a moment.
That’s when I realized what exactly he was looking at. I was now all to aware of the fact that he was the one who had covered me with this blanket and neatly arranged my books. But why would he do that? Was he sitting there waiting for my to wake up? Was I overthinking this situation? Probably. I mean he was just looking out for his housemate, that’s what a prefect does after all. I tried not to make the situation any more than it was but I was unable to suppress the blush creeping up my cheeks. I sat up, now sitting criss cross only a few inches separating us.
 “I wasn't down here all night.” I corrected him. “I woke up pretty early and couldn't go back to sleep so I thought it would be a good idea to come down here and try and get ahead of my lessons, but you can see how well that worked out.”
“I can’t say I’m surprised considering how many house points you've lost us by falling asleep in Snapes class.” shockingly he didn't sound as if he were scolding me like he normally did when it came to house points.
“It’s not my fault his voice is so unbearably boring that I have no other choice than to go to sleep.” I joked trying to lighten the mood. I swore I could see the corners of his mouth turn up ever so slightly. “What are you doing here anyway? Wouldn’t you rather spend the holidays at home instead of being cooped up here?”
“You know I could ask you the same question (l/n).” he replied raising a brow. I suppose he was right. Who am I kidding, he was always right.
l smiled at his response just sitting there for a moment taking in his features. It was nice seeing him outside of his house robes and uniform. He was wearing a simple grey turtle neck, black pants, and his normal black dress shoes. Good to know he still remained quite formal even when no one was a round to see. His hair was still slicked back and his cheek bones were just as sharp but something seemed different. His expression seemed less tired, almost relaxed. But I suppose that made since, even though we were stuck at Hogwarts we were still on holiday.
He cleared his throat, though our eyes never broke apart. Oh Merlin. I thought to myself, just how long have I been just staring at him. I averted my eyes as fast as humanly possible, practically jumping out of my seat. Smooth (y/n) smooth.
“Want to go to the Great Hall? I could really use some coffee.” I smiled mentally face palming myself as hard as possible.
He shrugged getting up from his seat, “Sure.”
And just like that the two of us started to make our way to the Great Hall.
(Felix’s pov)
It was only six am when I awoke to the cold nipping at me from under the covers, I looked around to my empty room and sighed as I would be spending yet another Christmas alone at Hogwarts.
“at least i can get some peace and quite.”
I soon got up to get dressed and made my way to the common room ready to get started with the day. Of course I didn't expect to see anyone else here at all let alone at this time, you could definitely say I was more than taken aback to find someone asleep on the couch. I felt my heart rate speed up even more when I realized that it was you. Questions immediately began to pop into my mind. Why hadn't you gone home on break? Why were you asleep in the common room? Had you been there all night? What were you dreaming about? I had caught myself off guard with that last one.
I looked around the common room at all the decorations I managed to get up that night before making my was over to you. Gently brushing a piece of hair away from your face tucking it behind your ear I smiled at how serene you looked. As I pulled the book you were reading from your hand my fingers grazed yours, you were freezing. After placing the book neatly on the table I went to my room to get you a blanket.
If you were going to sleep in the common room you should have at least brought a blanket with you. It’ll be a wonder if you manage to not get sick. I mean really you need to start being more responsible.
As I walked back in I couldn't help but just stare at you for a moment as I covered you up, I had never been more glad you were asleep as I was sure that you would have been able to hear every beat of my heart. I debated on whether or not I should sit in a different seat worried you would find my decision to sit next to you odd at the very least but I couldn’t resist. I sat down as slowly and as quietly as possible doing my best not to wake you, managing to sit back and start my book without causing so much as a stir.
I tried to read my book and ignore the fact that you were asleep next to me but it was almost as if the more I tried to concentrate the harder it became. I read the same sentence over at least ten time before finally giving in to watch over you as you slept, my eyes shifting back and forth from you, to the fire burning, and finally back to the book as I realized what a creep I was probably being and decided to try and give reading another attempt. But I still couldn't help but smile at every little snore. (if you don’t snore, well you do now uwu)
This went on for just a little over an hour before I felt you moving around, looking over as you woke up. When your tried gaze met mine I could feel my face soften, there really was no one like you.
(y/n)’s pov
It didn't take long to make it to the Great Hall as we walked there in almost total silence, not that I minded it was honestly nice just to have the company. Truth was I was grateful not only was I going to have someone to spend the holiday with but I was going to be able to spend it with Felix. I know we weren't close or anything, and given all the times I lost our house points he probably didn't like me very much but i’d be lying to say I didn't enjoy every moment I could steal from him.
As we walked through the doors I looked around taking in the sight of all the decorations, even with how empty it was the room felt so full of joy. Felix of course kept the same stoic expression as he always did but I like to think he enjoyed the scenery as well.
We took our seats at the end of the table sitting across from each other as we had our breakfast.
“So (y/n) what are you doing here on holiday if you don’t mind me asking?” he questioned finally breaking the silence.
“And what if I do?” I replied teasing him a bit.
 He raised a bored brow, but I could tell he was a bit taken back by my response.
“You’re not here to cause trouble I hope.” He was already on to me, I had to think quick.
“Who? Me?” I asked looking around. “Felix please I am the back bone of this house, I would never.” I smirked even though it was a very obvious lie. He rolled his eyes at the “back bone of slytherin” however he was amused to say the least.
“Well that certainly is a shame.” he started before taking a sip of his tea. “Because if your offer still stands, I say we make this break interesting for once.”
I didn't know what to say, was this all a trap to get me to reveal my plans? He was prefect after all, was he really willing to get in trouble? But all my mind could really focus on was the fact he even remembered my offer.
“Well (y/n), what will it be?”
What came over me I don’t know, maybe it was the look in his eyes. A mischievous glint I had never seen in him before, maybe my curiosity got the better of me. Or maybe it was that skip of my heart that made the decision for me.
“Alright Rosier, let’s do it.” I grinned going against all better judgement I agreed extending my hand to seal the deal.
As he grabbed my hand he pulled me closer to him, leaning across the table, “I must warn you if we’re going to do something this reckless we do it my way. I won’t have us getting caught.” I could only nodded in agreement as words were not even an option in this moment, he finally realized the position we were in and let me go. Though a small part of my wished he hadn’t.
He went back to his tea focusing rather hard on it trying to hide the ever so slight blush forming. I couldn't quite wrap my head around what had just happened but I had a feeling I wasn't going to be able to stop thinking about it any time soon.
It wasn't long before we were both finished and ready to head out deciding to head to the library to read up on some information that could help us in our adventure. As we were walking I forced him to take a slight detour stopping by the courtyard to look out at the frosty morning. I let out a happy sigh watching as my breath came out in a cloud. The air was bitter and I definitely wasn't dressed for such cold weather but I had never been so happy to shiver. Seeing the ground covered in a beautiful sheet of white as even more spilled from the sky almost made me forget about everything else going on around me. I walked out looking up at sky trying to catch a snow flake on my tongue.
“(y/n) get back here ! It’s freezing, you're going to get sick !” I heard Felix call after me but it was like it really just went in one ear and out the other. Little did I know how intently he was watching me, I didn't even think of how silly I probably looked but in that moment I couldn't care less. Twirling around in the snow I become almost lost in my own little world and didn't even notice when Felix had come up behind me.
I jumped as I was snapped back to reality feeling something rather warm wrap around me. Looking down I saw a scarf now resting on my shoulders. I quickly turned around staring up at Felix who was now standing right in front of me, snow now starting to cover us both. My (e/c) eyes met his brown ones and the heat immediately began to rise to my already rosy cheeks. I tried taking the scarf off but he placed his hands on mine to stop me, re wrapping it before his hand moved to my cheek. His hands felt so warm even out in the freezing cold.
“You’ll get cold.” I said averting my gaze trying to protest.
“I’m not the one shivering.” he smiled as I felt his hand move from my cheek to brush a fallen strand of (h/c) hair behind my ear. Little did I know this wasn't the first time he had done this.
I had no idea how to respond, it seemed like he never failed to make me speechless, but this? This was a side of him that I didn't even know existed. How did the point obsessed prefect become so.....sweet? As I looked up at him I smiled gently cupping his hands in mine, raising them to my lips blowing out a bit of warm air.
“I will shiver in this cold happily if it means I get to stand here next to you.” staring up at him I was glad to know I was no longer the only one blushing.
“Lets head inside before we catch our death out here.” he said before placing a gentle kiss on my forehead, I could feel a smile form onto his lips as I intertwined his hand with mine.
These were going to be an interesting two weeks.
Note
HC's for Hufflepuff!Ashton and Slytherin!Calum fighting over Hufflepuff!reader ending in poly!Cashton?
-you and Ashton have been best friends since the first day you were sorted into Hufflepuff together
-you have a reputation in the school as the best friends who everyone wants to be a couple
-people have long standing bets on what year he’s finally going to tell you how he feels
-and then one day when you’re walking to class you bump into Slytherin!Cal
-you’ve heard of his reputation. he’s quiet and always hangs out with the kid who’s hair changes colour, Michael you think his name is, you have to admit he’s intimidating but when he bends down to help you gather up your books and flashes you a smile to silence your apologies you’re like damn
-”hey Ashton the weirdest thing happened today, you know that Slytherin guy, Calum? i bumped into him and he actually wasn’t a jerk.”
-Calum knows you told Ashton about the encounter because suddenly Ashton is glaring at Calum from across the great hall at breakfast
-and suddenly Ashton is trying to make you laugh every time your within view of Calum
-”he’s doing it on purpose.” Michael tells Calum one morning when the sound of your laughter ringing through the hall is making Calum’s jaw clench, “Ashton knows you’re competition. he’s just scared.” Michael pats Calum on the back, “you’ve got this buddy.”
-you and Ash go to every Quidditch game together, when Ashton isn’t playing of course, and the two of you go to a match between Slytherin and Gryffindor
-Slytherin wins and as you and Ash are leaving Calum seems to appear out of nowhere, “hey, Y/N, we’re having an after party at the Slytherin common room, want to come?”
-you can’t say no. i mean, this is Calum Hood. notorious gorgeous Slytherin bad boy who just had the match of his life.
-”sure, i’d love to Calum.” “cool, i’ll see you there, just you.” he glares at Ashton then leaves.
-Ashton is grumbling about it the whole way back to the Hufflepuff common room
-”look i just think he’s a nice guy.” you insist, “maybe you just have to get to know him better Ash.”
-”screw it, im walking you to the party.”
-when you get there, Calum’s waiting outside for you and Ashton hugs you before leaving, glaring at Calum over your shoulder
-”has anyone ever told you Yellow suits you?” Calum teases as the two of you go through a corridor and into a sea of green and black
-”Oh my god Calum i’m practically the only non Slytherin here.”
-”its cuz you’re special.” Calum teases, “but if you’re uncomfortable we can go somewhere else. i’d rather be alone with you anyways.”
-”wow, you’re smooth Hood. i heard you don’t talk much and when you do it’s always something charming, you’re living up to your reputation.” ”yeah and you’re living up to yours, your guard dog hates me.” “Ashton’s harmless, we’re just best friends, he doesn’t want me to get hurt.” “yeah, sure, just friends.”
-ending up chilling on a staircase somewhere and talking for a while
-Ash just happens to walk by and ends up sitting down on the other side of you while Calum just rolls his eyes
-Ashton kinda puts his arm over your shoulders because he’s used to that and Calum’s hand goes onto your thigh and you’re just like, “okay what is this.” they both try to act dumb first but you glaring makes them finally give in.
-”we’re both into you.”
-”and you guys figured you’d just fight over me instead of talking to me like adults?” “yeah.” “pretty much.”
-”look, i’ll date both of you and then make a decision.”
-they’re oddly okay with it.
-going on dates with them separately but the other always just ‘happens’ to show up so most dates end up with you hanging out with both and them both holding your hands
-they get to know each other better and although there’s always this background tension of competition they actually seem to be getting along okay
-you go cheer them on for their quidditch matches while in the stands with the other and on their game day where they go against each other, they each give you their scarf to wear
-getting a few odd looks from some Slytherins because you’re wearing Calum Hood’s scarf and Ashton Irwin’s?
-but like what do you even do after the match cuz one is going to win and ones going to be upset
-Hufflepuff ends up winning and as you go onto the pitch to hug them both you notice Cal looks a little down and you’re not sure what to do and then Ashton says, “hey Cal, we’re having an after party at the Hufflepuff common room. you should come with us.”
-you and Cal are #SHOOK
-Ashton actually inviting Cal to come to something? but you are both Hufflepuffs and Ashton is a sweetheart, something you’ve always loved about him
-you and Ashton wait for Cal to show up at the party before going in
-Hufflepuffs are usually hella chill and it’s not like they’re going to be mean to Calum but you do get a few confused looks and hear a few “what’s the Slytherin Seeker doing here?”
-the three of you collapsing on a couch and your house being pretty nice to Calum and lots of people coming by to say he had a great game
-you get up to go grab some drinks and a few girls are just like, “so are you dating Ashton or Calum?” and you’re kinda just like, “seeing both?”
-getting back and they’re actually laughing together
-you’d never seen them without you but they seem to get along great
-being the last three at the party after everyone has gone to bed and you’re all having a great time until Cal says he should go, so you and Ash walk him to the door and you kiss his cheek, Ash gives him a hug?!?!
-”wow, you two seem to get along well.” “Cal’s a nice guy.” “never thought i’d hear you say that.”
-Cal is a pure blood but Ashton is a half blood so Ashton knows about polyamory
-he meets up with Cal without you and discusses the whole thing with Calum.
-they’re buds and they both like you and they’ve realized that they don’t mind sharing, in fact they’re kind of having a great time together too?
-they find you in the hall and pull you to a separate room to tell you about the idea and you’re shook but you agree
-they both give you a kiss on the cheek and so begins a poly relationship between two Hufflepuffs and a Slytherin
-Ashton is friends with Calum’s Slytherin pal Michael so sometimes the three of you sit at the end of the Slytherin table for food but you always get weird looks from Slytherin’s whereas when Cal comes to sit at the Hufflepuff table everyone is super nice and inviting
-Cal feels kinda weird about being so included by the Hufflepuffs but i mean he is dating two of them so….
-they’re both obviously super into you but the more they hang out and get to know each other the more lovey they’re being with each other too
-usually during sex they’re both taking care of you. Ash is the ass man lets be serious, cuz he’s into the spanking and your ass is right there
-but one night in a particularly hot and heavy session they brush past each other a few times and then they’re kissing too
-it’s one of those things where they’re both completely in love with you and they love each other like the highest level of friendship but also friends who make out sometimes
-so much studying together
-teachers start calling you the three musketeers
-Ashton is more into pet names like princess and honey (cuz badgers yo)
-Cal is more into babe or baby
-they each get a designated side of your body for hickies
-Ashton finding a nice Hufflepuff girl who’s into knitting to make a custom slyther-puff scarf for you to wear on game days where they’re playing against each other
-they still fight like rivals on the pitch but it doesn’t continue off the field
-dates where you walk between the two, holding both their hands, to go get butterbeer or just walk around outside
-you and Ash vs Cal during snow ball fights
-cuddles where you have to be pressed against each other because Hogwarts beds are small AF
-they both like to surprise attack you into broom closets which are also hella small
-”Hood, Irwin, you’re both late.” “sorry professor.”
-the room of requirement is hella required yo
-Ash likes to throw you over his shoulder sometime to make you scream, and he makes it seem like he’s going to set you down but you end up in Cal’s arms so he can spin you around a bit
-they’re a great team the two of them
-Cal being a regular in the Hufflepuff common room. he usually has to wait for you or Ash to come let him in but the other Hufflepuffs are so used to him they just let him in
-the Slytherins would not be chill with one Hufflepuff being around all the time, let alone two, so not going there that often
-a bunch of Hufflepuffs gifting Cal with an honorary yellow scarf for Christmas
-this blushing idiot would be so happy about it though
-he never thought he could feel so much love
-you and Ashton pamper the shit out of this boi
-”Cal, you’re acting like a Hufflepuff.” “and what about it?”
-the whole Hufflepuff house ready to kick any Slytherin’s ass who makes fun of Cal for being in a relationship with you and Ashton. Ashton would lead the beat down too
-”hey Cal, where’s your Hufflepuff guard dog?” “Ash? he’s behind you.” “not funny Hood!”
-Calum coming back and telling you and Ash that someone referred to Ash as Cal’s ‘Hufflepuff guard dog’ and you all laughing your asses off because Cal was the original person who coined the expression
-big group hugs that are so calming and perfect
-taking advantage of the prefect’s bathroom’s huge bath tub
-so many sweet kisses
-lots of cheek pecks
-doing that thing where you have an arm over each of their shoulders and they kinda lift you up as you walk, am i being dumb, this is totally a thing right?
-i have a hella massage kink and im going to project this onto you because imagine giving these guys massages after quidditch matches
-okay so i always thought Slytherin reader x Cashton would be my fav but holy shit i have swerved into Hufflepuff reader and the dynamic is giving me life
