So, this week's episode...
Tumblr media
[spoilers below cut]
Man I tell you, another heavy day in my production job. And on top of that, pollen season. There goes my allergies smh. Well, at least I get bit of a break, have some food with me, and I can finally watch today's episode. Let's see what we got! *sees thumbnail* 😶 .....I haven't even pressed on the video and my theorist senses are tingling already
"wait what?"
Alright, so I'm going to need you to follow along with me here, cool? Now, doesn't 4's pose seem familiar to you? Well, it should because that's exactly the same pose as the ringmaster 4 render from the early version of the WOTFI website. We all know it was really Mr Puzzles behind it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now look at the ads! It certainly feels very similar to what happened in the "Mario PC Virus" episode, and y'know how I already pointed out how it could connect to the goop!4 theory. BUT y'know what other video had ads?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's suspicious. That's sus. 💅 /ref
"Don't you think it's Ben trolling again? Or just taking creative liberties?"
No bc the thing is, it's the thumbnail and it's the Team who gave him the prompt in the first place. Ofc Ben can take creative liberties, but essentially it has to follow the prompt. How have I not started the episode yet?! *turns to the Team* I'm watching you.... /silly
(the following is my live reaction:)
and there's our beloved intro *claps like an excited lil kid*
A convention? oooooh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM AAAAA
ofc 3 talking about his villain self 😌↕️
Clench being a VTuber was not on my bingo card but honestly, good for him (and I do love Tari sticking out from the table hehe)
and MELONY! you got what Axol's been working on, Two Piece. Gotta love the continuity, dude. The cover looks great!
Melony: "At least, I hope so..." 🥺 Oh honey, Axol would've been so proud of you and what you've done. I can already imagine him singing praises to it and say "look at what my girlfriend and I have done! :D"
YES, let's spread the word!! ofc Mario and 4 would help, they care so much about their friends
ngl Mario's got a good tactic.
and there goes 3's eye lol (don't think about goop!4 don't think about goop!4 don't think about goop!4)
*wii sports theme plays*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YES YES YES oh I'm so here for it
look at them go :D
nahnahnah, Team. You think you can do a speed-up moment and for me not to pause it frame by frame? smh /silly
luckily for the rest of yall, I got you:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yes, it did have some repeats that I think they're very interesting: "turns you muscular SUPER chad", "makes you rich", "become SWAG", "get your a bunch of friends", "become a member of society", "become a SIGMA", get a romantic partner ("girlfriend" (the one with Mario) or "boyfriend", "you WON'T NEED SLEEP", "become AWESOME"/"RESPECTED"
Ofc it could just be how much 4 wants to emphasize the benefits of getting the manga. But it certainly feels strange, doesn't it? *writing notes down like a madman*
also a win for the skittle squad
and ay, it's got 4's stamp of approval!! (curious that the Team used the old model instead of current one 🤔)
hehe look at 4 pouting while he sits 💙
SMG4: "This is how it works!" 4, bud, are you ok?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok first off, WE GOT THE OG 4 MODEL BACK?! WHAT? and two, Mario has a point. 4 is taking things too far and really needs a wake-up call. I have a feeling as to why 4 may be acting this way....
oh. oh okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So they decided to bring parallels to show how much 4 and Mario's fighting is affecting her/reminding her of her family separating. Hmm. Alright, Team, which one of you decided to strike that dagger into my heart? 😭 /lh
And Mario walked away just like Melony's mom did *head in hands*
and that's 4 alright. He would say that "everything's fine" when it's clearly not smh
4, buddy no :(
SMG3: "The real villain is society..." Well you ain't wrong, 3
Tumblr media
Wait a second. Enhance..... enhance.....
Tumblr media
I see what you did there, Shadow 😔↕️
love that Toad's like right here too
OMG was that 4's "date" from the "Find Luigi" episode? IT IS.
I'm tell yall, 4 has a secret art account and is selling his work as merch/prints. I mean, c'mon
NO 4, people were waiting for Silksong for decades naurrrr
oh Melony, my girl :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*pauses episode* ........they did not just do that. I'm rewinding that moment 2/3 times now, what do you mean I was right about my suspicions? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY JUST BROUGHT BACK IGBP?!
I need to walk away. I need to leave the room, do a cartwheel and dive into a lake, bc HUH?!
okok, let's breathe. goop!4 is gonna happen, and this is not just a "haha Ink is a crazy lil theorist wishing for this to happen". The fact that he said "nowadays" means that the situation is affecting him too. Ofc it would, that's his livelihood, his WHOLE PURPOSE as a meme guardian. But, other than that, it makes sense why he's doing this (I'll talk about it soon)
Mario: "SMG4, you're better than this! You've done enough damage." 😨 holy shit. it's like I got shot through the heart WTF. I might just cry in this episode
who keeps punching me in the FEELSSSSS 😭 poor Melony, those guys were absolute jerks smh (desperate times do call for desperate measures *ready to make swiss cheese*)
*head in hands* :(
at least they can apologise
Tumblr media
*points at screen* hehe that's me :) I'm just a reporter
did I hear the peanut gallery audio from ace attorney? 👀 (<- ace attorney fan, don't mind Ink)
Tumblr media
The Crew came? 🥹
EVEN SHROOMY?
OUGH that got to me, dude. They all came to support her and enjoyed the manga. I'm tearing up, dude.....
what did I say? Melony may have not had both parents as they were separating, lost Axol to the events of the Genesis/Revelations arc, was betrayed by who she thought was a friend who understood her, and despite it all, she's been so strong. Having friends, her found family...
Tumblr media
man, this hit me hard and it's not even from the allergies, I tell you that
the truest supporters are the ones who care
this episode wants me dead /very pos
what's the lesson, Mario?
SMG4: "Is that we shouldn't care so much about fame and profit and instead be proud of our friend's work? No matter how successful it is?" yeah pretty much... "No"? wydm "no"?
Tumblr media
....nahnahnah, you can't end the episode there, what the hell do you mean by that?
You can't close it off like that! What about my suspicions!? You can't just move on like that in front of my theorist self, c'mon!!
sitcom laugh track and everything, smh /silly
Congrats to SteveAlexAri12 for your art being featured in the end credits for this episode 🎉 cool art of WPNZ
Tumblr media
um. Team, any particular why? just asking /j
.・-: ✧ :--: ✧ :-・.
Wow, this. This was absolutely fantastic omg. The writing in this was so good and I loved the tidbits of animation we got, like when Mario and 4 were picking up the pages to clean! This was somehow brilliant, and this is coming from a long-time viewer.
It' crazy's awesome that they brought Wolfychu back to do some lines this episode, and I was right about the Waggy cameo from Shadow (YES!). Also, EVAN! You make the cover of the manga? It looks SO GOOD, dude!! As always, great work with the writing on your end 👏
I've already mentioned Melony but we have to talk about the boys. Both Mario and 4 had good intentions to help their friend out. "I would do anything to not lose my friends" and that's exactly what 4 did. The algorithm has been affecting him so much that he didn't want Melony to go through it either. So, he went overboard with the crazy advertising and such, but he still cared for his friend. And a touch of self-doubt and insecurity from IGBP is back because he thought he wasn't doing enough. What good of a friend is he if he can't help out? The savior complex in him would say that he isn't good enough to help Melony, to "save" her from the low viewer retention. That he isn't enough, so he went desperate to have anyone take a copy of the manga. This isn't just about selling a book, it's that he's worth the friendships he has and they can always come to him if they need anything.
He doesn't want to lose them.
Ofc Mario cares so much about 4, they've known each other for years. Best of friends. If anything, Mario would know everything's not fine with 4's actions and thoughts in general. It's why the line, "SMG4, you're better than this! You've done enough damage" from Mario to 4 hits so hard. 4 was back to the "None of you understand the work I do" moment from Mar10, relapsing, and Mario needed to remind 4 of his true self, the one that cared for his friends without perfections. That instead of helping as 4 sees it, 4 was hurting Melony unintentionally, and he has to open his eyes to see that. Two sides, indeed.
Curious that the episode ended with the not "go cuckoo crazy" lesson instead of what 4 said. Goop!4 would eventually happen, bc at this point, yes. But what Mario said is exactly what 4's mindset is rn. 4 is bottling up his emotions and trauma and as long as he doesn't think about it for too long, everything's fine. As long as he doesn't reach that breakpoint, he's fine. In some way, he learned his lesson after IGBP but not quite. For one, he still doubts himself with the guilt of IGBP on top of it. And two, nothing is letting him move on from his trauma. His in-universe audience isn't letting him, Puzzles during WOTFI wasn't letting him, the memories he's been suppressing wasn't enough.
Why does he go through the extreme? Bc he thinks that it would solve everything for him. Like how he locked Puzzles in prison, thinking that Puzzles would remain there when we all know a prison escape is bound to happen. Like the Meme Factory itself was an elaborate trap. Whatever it takes to protect himself emotionally, as he's under the line from having a meltdown, he's fine. But what is that line? What is his breaking point? The thing is he wouldn't known, as shown in this episode, thinking he would still fix it. Everything's fine, he's fine.
And y'know what the cherry on top is? That, other than 4 and Mario enjoying the manga, Boopkins and Luigi were the first to be interested in Melony's creation, regardless of popularity. Very representative of Kevin irl and the deeper significance of IGBP.
....whoops sorry, I went on rambling for too long. I mean, c'mon, you should know the drill by now *points at bio*. If anything, this episode is the biggest piece of evidence for the goop!4 theory, I'm sure our local co-CEO of the theory Funkii (hey moot!) and other goop!4 enthusiasts would agree, YESSIR. Overall, this was such a sweet episode and I can't wait for more. That's all from me, and remember: numbers always go first!
*taps mic* ...well chat, how do we feel knowing that the star trio all canonically wore maid outfits? (well technically Madoka outfits from 4 & Mario but still)

Hello! How does a beast cookies x reader sound? Also the reader has a calming effect on cookies and is basically the groups therapy cookie. Like what if-
Shadow milk after episode 8: DO YOU KNOW WHY IM LIKE THIS?!?
Reader:Wanna talk about it?
SMC: haha..hahahHAHAHA-
*ten minutes later*
SMC leaning on our shoulder: And that was after Mystic started going off the deep end-
Reader calmly listening: mmhm
Interesting 👀👍
I'd like to imagine they're a Legendary who's been around for as long as the Beasts have, travelling the world to give therapy and healing to those who need it. So they're def more powerful than the average cookie
......
As a Legendary Cookie, it was your job to help give all denizens of Earthbread healing--mentally and emotionally, that is.
Your calming abilities enable virtually any cookie to feel relaxed in your company. Even those who are totally closed-off and were baked with the hardiest dough will eventually confide in you about whatever's on their minds.
And you give them advice, always knowing what to say, or simply listen and let them express their emotions.
You've been around for as long as the Five Beasts have, so you've seen a lot in your travels...including the many days and nights they spent terrorizing the world after they twisted their virtues into vices, trying to ease cookies' fears.
The Witches deemed them monsters worthy of being locked up in the Silver Tree...yet you realized they have never once considered why they fell from grace.
Having spent so much time helping the normal everyday folk, you felt some guilt in not checking in on the Beasts to make sure they were okay.
They were adored and revered figures..but even they might've needed somebody to talk to every once in a while.
Maybe they wouldn't have fallen down that dark path if you paid more attention to the signs....
But after they break out of the Silver Tree and face the Ancient Heroes who've "stolen" their soul jam, they hide away until they can figure out how to restore their powers and take their revenge.
That's where you come in, having visited Gingerbrave's kingdom and hearing about the Ancients' encounters with them.
You decided to go on a quest to Beast Yeast, hoping to find them and simply talk, which obviously wouldn't be easy had it not been for your powers.
They have some resistance to it, but one by one...their walls come down and you start to understand them better.
Shadow Milk
Of course, the last one to fall from grace had to be the first one you come across.
It's not long after his retreat from his Spire, still not back at his full strength, wanting to get away from Candy Apple and Black Sapphire Cookie for a while.
They finally saw him be defeated and..humiliated by Pure Vanilla Cookie, yet they're willing to stay and follow his every word?
Either way, he wanted to be alone--but unfortunately for him, that doesn't last long as you seize your opportunity to talk to him.
"Shadow Milk Cookie. The Fount of Knowledge-"
"Pah! Dunno who that other guy is. Only Shadow Milk Cookie is....here..?" He spins around, his eyes comically wide as he instantly recognizes your face. "You....you're-"
"Not dead? I've been around for as long as you, my friend." You chuckle. "I don't crumble easily."
"...it's amazing you haven't. Thought you would'a cracked under the weight of everyone's problems by now. But you're still trying to play the hero, huh?" He sneers. "Just like.....him. Riddle me this, [y/n] cookie...do you feel any guilt?"
"...I do."
"HAH! Well you...wait, you do?" He blinks. "Do you even know what I'm talking about?"
"Yes."
"..you're terrible at following this script. You're supposed to be confused and scared-"
"We're not on a stage, Shadow Milk Cookie. I'm not fooled as easily." You cut him off, firmly yet gently. "This is reality. And the reality is...you've been hurt so profoundly. Watching so many cookies embrace deceit instead of your gospels of truth must have been...difficult. You felt betrayed by them."
"........"
"Ever since..that day..I've felt guilty for not reaching out to you or the others sooner. I probably wasn't clear about my doors being open for you, too. I've been waiting for a chance to talk to you again. To help you feel heard, even though this was long, long overdue."
"Wow...and I thought Nilly had the biggest savior complex." He scoffs, trying to resist your magic's advances on his psyche. "Nice try, but you're not gonna get inside MY head, too. Nope. Nuh-uh. I'm not one of your fragile-minded cookie who unloads their entire sob story in one measly conversation!"
"It's not fragile to-"
"Besides..we haven't spoken in eons, so you don't even know HALF of what I've been through!! Not within the Silver Tree! NOT with Pure Vanilla Cookie! Not even before I turned to deceit!!"
Despite his anger, you remain unperturbed. "Exactly my point. So..why don't you help me understand? Let's talk about it."
"....like....right now?"
"Yeah? Unless you have an important date tonight."
"....hahahaha...AHAHAHAHA. Didn't you hear me, stupid cookie?! Obviously not, so allow me to rephrase it.......THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL THAT I'M EVER GOING TO-!!"
Fast forward to sometime later, when Black Sapphire Cookie finally finds his master...leaning on your shoulder while basically trauma dumping. The deceitful Beast was speaking from his mind, unfiltered, to a Legendary Cookie he's never met before.
"-and that was after Mystic Flour Cookie started going off the deep end. But could anyone blame her? No. Those damn cookies got greedy and began asking for the impossible."
"Mhm." You simply nod. "And after seeing her like that...what was going through your mind?"
"...like we were all just...losing it. So I guess hopeless? Scared that we were getting out of hand? I dunno. All I wanted was to be their teacher, to show them the truth....and look at me now!! I warned Pure Vanilla Cookie he'd fall down the same path if he continued the way he was headed...that traitorous prick.."
"He did tell me you rejected his friendship. But..would you consider revisiting that?" You hummed.
"I...no. I mean..I....I-I don't know.." He seems confused with himself. "I told the guy I hated him! What doesn't he get? He could have finished me off! Why does he still try after all I did to him?!"
"Because he sees the good in everyone, even you. I don't fully understand the soul jam connection, but...it seems like he's aware of your true feelings. Your loneliness after all that time spent in the tree. And you keep trying to deny them, afraid to draw back the curtain and express what you really feel."
"But when you've been a ruler of deceit since forever..why would I ever do that?! I don't need anyone! I....I especially don't need you or that stupid goody two shoes soul jam thief! But he....he just...why doesn't he just quit already?!" His voice cracks at the end. "H-He knows I'm a lost cause.."
Even though you can't see his face, the eyes on his hair are weeping, and that prompts you to put your arm around him. "It's easy for you to lie to others, but lying to yourself is way harder."
Despite not saying anything back, he doesn't reject the comfort.
In fact he unknowingly leaned against you more.
Black Sapphire can't believe what he's seeing--almost certain it's an illusion, but no.
This was the master of deceit confiding in someone else. Someone more familiar.
Despite feeling slightly jealous, he decides to leave you two be, distracting Candy Apple Cookie so she doesn't barge in and ruin things.
Burning Spice Cookie
"Ah, Burning Spice Cookie. Herald of Change, time hasn't been kind to-"
"You DARE utter that title?!! It is dead to me..just like you will be in a few moments!!" The Great Destroyer looms over you with his axe at the ready, scowling as you crossed paths with him in the ruins of his Spice Temple.
It was considerably difficult to even speak to him alone, especially with the last remnants of the Wild Spice warriors and Nutmeg Tiger Cookie trying their damnest to fight off your calming abilities...but not even their hardy dough can block it forever.
They let you through to see their master at his lowest point, even though he was still on a high from battling the recently awakened Golden Cheese Cookie.
"That's too bad. I was hoping you'd remember me. I was there when you once held that title with pride" You huff. "You welcomed me into your kingdom with open arms, allowing me to speak to the Wild Spices who had troubles on their minds, and the warriors who came home scarred by the things they've seen."
"....ah...you do seem familiar." He muses. "That's right. You're [Y/n] Cookie. The Legendary warrior of words. I bet you've never lifted a weapon in your life."
"My tongue is the only weapon I need, Burning Spice Cookie." You counter with equal sass.
Least to say...you intrigue him. You didn't cower, and even after all this time and knowing the things he's done, you sought him out anyways.
All just to....convince him to share his feelings?
He had a lot to say, but didn't even know where to begin.
He wondered where you were when kingdoms crumbled around him.
He wondered where you were when he kept watching those he loved die while he continued on living.
He wondered where you were when he decided that the only cure to his pain was destruction.
"Well, it's useless here. You could never understand what I-"
"So help me understand. That's why I do what I do. To better understand all Cookies I meet." You frowned slightly. "You were so convinced that you had to be strong for your people. To act like the passage of time hadn't dimmed your light. I understand why you never visited me. And for that, I apologize. I should've put more effort into-"
"Don't apologize. There's nothing you could have said or done to change the way I felt back then." He growled. "What would have been the point?"
"Maybe not, but talking about what and how you're feeling is better than keeping it all inside. You have your generals, sure..but you seldom speak with them. Not wanting to seem weak or soft-doughed in their eyes."
"When they only ever see you as a god, why would...." Suddenly, he's aware of the vulnerability he was showing, and his whole demeanor flips on its head. "GRRRAHH!!" He slams his axe down, nearly splitting the earth between you. "All I feel is pissed off that you're trying to get inside my head! Who told you where I was, mind reader?!!"
"Oh..just a little golden birdie." You calmly reply. "I heard you two had a glorious final battle."
"...ah yes. In spite of my loss, it was...the most entertaining battle I've had in a long time." He grins, recounting that fight.
"Really? Do tell."
Before you know it, he's back to talking again--about the battle, what happened before that, and the rest is history.
Your calming powers have been hard at work, but you've finally gotten him to open up a little more, and somehow he feels...lighter?
It's weird feeling. Weird, but new.
At that time, Nutmeg Tiger returns to her senses and sees you talking to him, furious that she let her guard down and that you were speaking to her lord without permission--
Only for you to calmly stand up and walk away, while she's shouting for you to come back and explain your actions.
"Hexing a Wild Spice is one thing, but turning your back on one will be your LAST mistake-!"
"Enough, General. They will not trouble us anymore."
"...they won't? But my lord, they put a spell on us-!"
"I said enough." He snaps. "I've known [Y/n] Cookie since before you were baked. Has their spell impeded your duties?"
"No, but-"
"Then return to your post."
"....as you wish, Great One." She eventually leaves, and he continues to ponder over your talk with him.
Mystic Flour Cookie
Tracking her down in Beast Yeast was a rather simple task.
All you had to do was look where the white fog has gathered. Luckily, your abilities grant you immunity to the apathy that ordinary cookies would easily be overwhelmed by.
When Mystic Flour laid waste to the world with pale ailment storms, doctors, nurses, and healers dealt with the physical symptoms of patients--while you assisted with the mental.
They may not be crumbling and have flour-white dough anymore, but apathetic thoughts linger in their minds long after treatment. Passions are lost and replaced with nihilism, and your duty was to bring them out of those dark places and remind them of what they loved and how it's all worth it and meaningful in the end.
Luckily, you were able to guide them back on the right path again, and suddenly their eyes regained their spark; their dough's color was returned, and you'd send them off to resume their normal life.
After the Dark Cacao Kingdom was 100% liberated from the flour storm, you ventured to Beast Yeast to find her, eventually meeting Cloud Haetae Cookie, who had been revived.
They didn't seem bothered by the fact their own master killed them, taking you personally to see her and giving you steamed rolls as they talked about her battle with Dark Cacao Cookie.
"She almost convinced him to accept futility. She was so, so close..but then that fool had to go and summon these two dragons to help him-"
"Who are you speaking to, Cloud Haetae Cookie?"
Before you could respond, Mystic Flour takes one look at your face and immediately knows who you are.
"[Y/n] Cookie. You're the reason why my clouds of apathy have lifted.."
"Well..having a bunch of nameless, faceless cookies moping about doesn't exactly make the world go round, my dear." You jest, although you fall silent as she just stares through you. "I know your heart carries a most heavy burden. The burden of not being able to satisfy everyone..and being a victim of-"
"You have not once set foot in my Ivory Pagoda to talk. And now, after all these years..." Given her pause...you knew her emotions were trying to bubble to the surface. Like yeast rising.
"I understand. I've heard it from the others already. This...comes much too late." You bow your head. "I remember seeing those lines, and I didn't wish to be perceived as another beggar. I'm sure you already knew my wish."
"They always expected you to solve their problems." She continued. "But it never feels like enough, does it? Don't you grow weary of their endless demands? Their pleas for you to "fix" everything wrong with them? You can only help them so much before they bleed you dry and give you nothing, [Y/n] Cookie. Not even a "thank you". Trust me...I have been there." Her face darkens. "We are not so different."
"Perhaps not. We've always looked out for the best interest of cookies...at our own expense." You agreed. "But I know a lot of them have appreciated my help. I'm sorry they never gave you that same respect, Mystic Flour Cookie."
"I do not dwell on it, for it is futile. It's a shame that you would never come to accept that same futility."
"I don't see a reason to start now," you chuckle, before you talked to her more about your recent work and the cookies you've helped, including Shadow Milk and Burning Spice.
It's clear that you reminded her of her old self a lot--before all the selfish cookies came along and attributed to her pain and corruption and imprisonment.
She thought she could talk you out of that path, certain you'll realize what true futility is like she did...
But you remain steadfast in your duty to help all cookies you meet. Even her.

ok. years have passed and we've had some distance, so i'm finally gonna take the leap of faith that tma fandom is finally ready to hear me on this. let's talk about tannins.
161 was the first tma episode i heard on early release, and i felt the bit where martin declines wine and cites tannins was pretty obvious in its implications. cool, got it, say no more.
imagine my surprise when i was one of maybe three people i saw read between the lines there, in a fandom famous for red stringing--a fandom that immediately caught the much less obvious thread of ignition sources in the same episode. i'll spell it out: alcohol is an issue for martin.
maybe it just felt obvious because addiction is a pet issue for me--as it is for jonny, who has said everything he writes is filtered through a lens of addiction. i don't know if that's due to his own experience or a loved one's, and i won't speculate; i also don't know if martin personally struggled with drinking or just avoids it for fear he would, but alcohol would fit what we know of his family. his dad walking out and his mum spiralling into bitter wallowing and verbal abuse? i'd bet one or both of them drank, yeah.
on a basic level martin tries to decline alcohol, and that alone should have raised eyebrows given what we know of martin and, again, a fandom that dissects everything. we already knew martin "K" blackwood lied about his personal life and his family in particular, especially pre-canon, which is when this flashback took place. i was shocked that everyone took his flimsy excuse at face value with no further questions.
and the excuse is flimsy. martin turns down wine by--nervously--exclaiming tannins are "a proven headache trigger!" which sounds like trivia from a magazine cover and not the words of someone who actually has headaches--and it hasn't come up before or since. jon, confused, points out that tea, a drink martin consumes to a degree that is memetic both in- and out-of-universe, also contains tannins, and martin squawks a panicked, "what?!"
if tannins are enough of a concern for martin that he knew they're in wine and so avoids it, why didn't he know they're in his drink of choice? why does he still drink tea at the time of canon, and why doesn't he struggle with constant headaches from consuming 'a proven headache trigger' day in and day out? why, indeed, would someone avoid wine and not tea?
when sasha insists martin drink he caves and agrees to 'just a drop'. i imagine him pouring it in a plant, which admittedly he could have done if tannins really were the issue. i will say that i, for one, would be less likely to falsely agree to something that makes me physically ill than to a private issue that i'd rather not be pressed on any further. this scene also establishes martin's birthday was an ice cream party instead of the more traditional visit to a pub.
also, this scene was in the first episode of the final season, as one of three flashbacks that could have been to any pre-canon event in the archives. prime narrative real estate. not really time one would waste on establishing the important character context that martin has... headaches. which never comes up before or after, even regarding the week he spent in spiral town. but you know what is pretty crucial character background...?
it felt like a no-brainer, and yet all i saw was h/c fluff about jon attending to martin's headaches. and i hate feeling bitter about disability representation. i want folks with chronic headaches to feel seen and have fluffy escapist fantasies. i don't want to be mad about people portraying a character with a disability. but, guys? you got the wrong disability. jonny sent a clear message, and it went over fandom's head.

WHEN THE CAMS ARE OFF
So, Nandor and Guillermo are canonically doing some things when when they're not being filmed. With knowing this, I wanted to recap a few things from the season.
This post will mainly focus on how Nandor in particular handled himself subliminally towards the camera in certain situations. Also, that Guillermo faked to leave the vampires in E11 just for the documentary got me thinking which other things could be made up too. Giving a false view of facts just to make the audience think otherwise or to distract them from something specific... This specific thing they wanted to keep private, and didn't want it to be anyone else's business. Cause they wanted to solve and figure it out for themselves without having it exploited to the full in front of the camera. And this is the relationship development (secret affair) between Nandor and Guillermo that ran its course and has been cooked in the background during the sixth season.
[Sorry in advance for grammar mistakes and typos. English is not my first language]
The first hint is alreay in the first episode!
Nandor necessarily has to emphasize that he hasn’t seen Guillermo since he left, and Guillermo immediately throws in that he is telling the truth. But Nadja seems already to know what’s going on between these two idiots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, Nandor trying to help Guillermo by searching for a flat and then suggest him to move into the VERY NEAR garden shed… A practical temporary solution if you don't want to be disturbed by the other housemates. I can well imagine that Nandor already thought of a better place for the two of them at this time. *Caugh* Secret underground lair *Caugh*
/|\ ^._.^ /|\
What about Nandor having a crush on the Guide?
... did he really ever have that, though?😏 What if Nandor’s crush on the Guide was made up by himself just for the documentary to distract the crew/viewers from himself and Guillermo, so that they don't keep following them to catch some shots? Yes, I know Nandor’s sudden crush on the Guide was at first caused by the sleep hypnosis But for Nadja, the hypnosis seemed like a dream… Perhaps Nandor also thought he had dreamt that he suddenly had a crush on the Guide (or maybe Guillermo just told him) and Nandor was like: “You know what? That’s perfect! I use this to distract the doc crew and viewers from me and Guillermo!”
Nandor had one or more love interest in almost every season that he had a crush on. Why should it be any different now?
Due to this the film crew weren’t focussed on following them and wouldn’t wondering if Nandor could actually have something going on with Guillermo. Nandor’s crush on the Guide in general seemed very odd and just pretended for the camera/viewers. Over time, it seemed to appear more and more obviously and artificially.
Tumblr media
In E4 "The Railroad" before Nandor said goodbye to the Guide, he looked suspiciously over his shoulder before making his flirtatious move towards her. It seemed as if he was aiming at it. Shouldn't he have been eyeing up his crush instead of making sure he was filmed flirting?
Tumblr media
In E7 "March Mandess" Nandor looked very obviously into the camera during the scene used for the flashback, while Nandor is talking to Charmaine about the guide.
I also wonder why it was so important to Nandor that Charmaine would keep the thing of him and the guide to herself. Cause it’s made up and he just mentioned that he would has a crush on someone so that the film crew could add flashback? Generally, threatening to kill her in her sleep just because of that felt a bit too excessive, doesn’t it?
When the Guide finally rejects him perfectly in E9 “Come Out and Play” (you go, Girl!), Nandor seemed to fully ignore her destruction she has thrown at him.
Tumblr media
He purposely ignored what she said. Even though he is normally so easily outraged. Especially after these true words that his supposedly "big love" said to him, he should’ve been at least a bit upset.
Just remember how devastated he was, when Gail rejects him, and she had rejected him way more nicely.
And please just directly compare Nandor’s “look of love” towards the Guide with how he looked at Guillermo in E3…
Tumblr media
And the Oscar-worthy performance, in which Nandor fell on his knees saying overdramatically that the Baron should take his life instead of the Guide seemed totally forced.
Tumblr media
Also, Nandor knew very well that the Baron wouldn't have killed anyone…
In E11 “The Finale” Nandor and the Guide is only a short topic at the beginning of the episode, when Nadja asked him if Laszlo could use some parts of the Guide for the Monster. Nandor didn't seem to be listening anyway with his mind somewhere else.
Tumblr media
After it was announced that the film crew wanted to end the documentary, he didn't even flirt or interact more intensely with the guide in the entire episode.  As if he no longer needed to fool anyone now that he knew the movie crew was leaving.
/|\ ^._.^ /|\
What about Nandor still saying mean things towards Guillermo?
I also want to cover up the thing of Nandor remaining to say mean things towards Guillermo and wiping his hand on him after the intense hand clasp cause it was a bit clamy.
I I have read criticism of it in some WWDITS negatively posts. And this opinion is valid, no question. But I could imagine that Nandor only continued to do this for the camera, or it is just a normal thing between them cause they are a very fucked up toxic couple anyway ;)
Tumblr media
Look at the slightly unsettled grin on Nandor's face when he gave towards the camera. As if he was worried that this very unusually long-lasting hand clasp could lead to more while the camera is still rolling. So, he had to come up with a quick excuse to end it. This facial expression from Nandor looking directly into the camera is so different from the looks he gave to the camera while interacting with the guide. It is just a short glace towards the lens before he puts his eyes back to Guillermo.
Tumblr media
Guillermo looked as if he was sad not to express his gratitude to Nandor the way he would like to (cause of cameras as well maybe?)
/|\ ^._.^ /|\
The Finale
Nandor was so obviously happy that the documentary crew were going to leave. He was excited to shoot B-roll footage all the time and he sassily said this when Nadja told him about Guillermo being sad about the end of the documentary:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like someone was really excited to no longer be constantly followed by the camera so that they could continue to focus on "other things"... Also, this reference to the will they/won’t they dynamic of Nandermo is insane.
Colin and Nadja suspecting Guillermo of having a secret relationship with one of the crew members could be an indirectly hint of a secret relationship with Nandor as well. @barren-heart already did this post about it which has made me to create this summary (hope you don't mind me mentioning you here :3).
Tumblr media
Nadja possibly saw Guillermo making out with someone who looks like Nandor and maybe it was actually just Nandor!
She just don’t recognised it that fast cause they might quickly disappeared somewhere OR it was just another hint from Nadja, because she knew. She had become a bit of a nandermo shipper this season ;)
In the last speech of Nandor for the documentary it was so clearly to notice that the lair is only a metaphor for Nandor’s private life with Guillermo after the film crew would be gone...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This directly glance into the camera during the speech pause... As if he explicit wanted to make clear that he wanted to say something different when the cameras would be off.
And Guillermo’s reaction during that scene is so fucking funny. He seemed to have a moment of hope that Nandor would actually reveal their affair, but no it is the superhero lair again.
/|\ ^._.^ /|\
The Final Scene
In the background, there was played the same song that was used in the pilot episode for the post-credits. I like that really much!
🎶“Tonight in the Moonlight” (Morrie Morrison Orchestra)🎶 Tonight in the moonlight When silver blends with blue We'll do the thing all lovers do Lingering on till dawn breaks through Tonight in the moonlight with you
And again that offensive look into the camera from Nandor in the middle of his speech and Guillermo trying to get something specific out of him...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If, by this time, someone still does not consider Nandermo to be canon, then I can no longer help them xD
Subtext is their thing! That's always been the case throughout all the seasons! And in such a way that it was already too subtle to be subtext.
However, even Guillermos love sick puppy eyes and his cute “What about one… one of the other reasons?" didn't caused Nandor to spit it out. He bravely continued to avoid eye contact and was trying very hard not to become weak.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Guillermo said that he won’t be here anymore after Nandor would wake up, Nandor’s description of their secret lair feels forced, which again supports the thesis of an actual love cave: “But what about us joining forces and fighting crime in a coequal partnership? Operating out of a hidden underground lair accessible exclusively by a top-secret coffin elevator.”
Of course, Nandor believed that Guillermo wouldn't leave and was just putting on a show for the camera. He knows his Guillermo better than anyone else...
Tumblr media
And THIS look of Nandor’s face when he wanted Guillermo to sit with him inside his coffin comparing with a confirming deep voicing “Mm-hmm”
Tumblr media
Oh boy, as if they are going to do very spicy things in that lair...
Then finally the relevation of Nandor’s masterpiece...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the whole season Guillermo had a problem with sexual things in front of the camera while Nandor had a problem with expressing deep and meaningful feelings while the crew was filming. And because of that they prefer do both things IN THE SHADOWS!
/|\ ^._.^ /|\
So, this my view of Season 6 and the Finale and also my special tribute to my most favorute show! 🦇♥️
It has become longer than expected. Thank’s to everyone who has taken the time to read it this far!

Things from the League of Legends game I wish were in Arcane
"Arcane is based on League of Legends, of course it was gonna be bad🤪" then how come Season 1 managed to be good? How come some of the game dialogue and lore are even better than Season 2? Season 2 took all the shit from the game that doesn't work for a high stakes adult show (shitty Marvel humour, unserious tone, characters' allegiances flip-flopping every 5 seconds, multiverse), but none of the good shit that actually would have worked.
Here are some things from the game I wish the show had used:
- Jinx talking to her guns, especially Fishbones. In the game, she imagines it speaking in a calm, pragmatic, wise voice to temper her chaoticness. Fishbones is a shark-shaped weapon. Tell me, who in Season 1 has an underwater lair, was "reborn" underwater, has a line mentioning how beautiful aquatic monsters are, and is a pragmatic presence in Jinx's life who tries to impart wisdom to her? Who in Season 1 did she make Fishbones for in the first place? She says "Just you and me, Fishbones!" in the game. Who in Season 1 tells her "it's only us"? It's insane that they didn't have her hallucinate Silco's voice from Fishbones when all the pieces were right there. The game plays it off in a lighthearted jokey way, but Season 1 already changed the tone of Jinx's character so much to make her darker and more serious than her game counterpart. They could easily have done the same with Talking Fishbones. It would been exactly the kind of dark, bizarre thing Jinx would do too. She literally made dolls of Mylo and Claggor and spoke to them. She made a doll for Vi in the AU. But no doll for Silco? Fishbones could have been that "doll".
- Jinx's pink bullet tattoos. In Season 1 she only got her blue cloud tattoos from the game leading us to believe she'd get her pink bullets in Season 2. A cool interpretation is that the blue clouds symbolize her accidentally killing her first adopted family (the monkey bomb explosion) and the pink bullets would symbolize her accidentally killing her second adopted family (Silco). Instead she never gets her full set of tattoos from the game.
- Ekko's lines in the game. Game Ekko calls Vi out for being a class traitor, abandoning Zaun, and joining the enforcers. He even tells her "one day, you'll come back to Zaun." The game literally handed the show writers the barebones of an arc on a silver platter. And they did nothing with it. Vi never mentions nor interacts with Ekko until the final episode. They could have had a falling out over her decision to join the enforcers, which would have made perfect sense and been faithful to the game. In Season 2, Ekko isn't even involved in the Piltover vs Zaun plotline which is fucking insulting. Dude shows up in the end just to convince Jinx to HELP PILTOVER of all things. Why didn't the Ekko and Jinx reconciliation happen over fighting for Zaun against Piltover, instead of for Piltover against Noxus? If the show wanted to do the "a greater common enemy bringing former enemies together" trope, and wanted Ekko and Jinx to become allies, then Piltover should have been that common enemy. Sevika even has a line saying that topside is the real enemy and all the different Zaunite factions should come together and fight Piltover, but they abandoned that plotline for Noxus + Viktor's robot army. Also, Ekko's melancholic game lines to Jinx could have done more for main universe Timebomb than a million shitty AU fanfictions could - "Man, I miss you so much" and "I had a crush, until you started talking to the gun".
- Warwick's lines in the game. And his lines to Vi. I talk about it more here and here, but to summarize, his character in the game is an intriguing look into how Piltover's oppression of Zaun breeds hatred and violence in its people (the monster you created). Warwick could have been a reflection of Vander's dark past that Season 2 pretended doesn't exist, and of Vi's potential future if she continues down her path. He should have played a major role in Vi's arc considering his game self calls her out for becoming an enforcer and abandoning Zaun. Bonus points if Vi is the one to kill him. Jinx killed Silco but Vi doesn't get to kill Warwick, symbolically killing her rage and inner demons and setting her father free from his torment? Even Jinx has to do that for her? Bruh, they didn't bother to give Vi ANYTHING substantial to do.
- Game Viktor. Just Game Viktor. With his focus on machinery and steel and function over form instead of magic. Why the fuck did they make him a godlike mage in the show. In the original lore, the Church of the Glorious Evolved are not affiliated with Viktor, instead worshipping him from afar. Game Viktor doesn't pay attention to them. In the show, Viktor founds and leads the cult himself. Then chills with them the entire time while Piltover cracks down on Zaun, abuses citizens, and arrests people with no proper cause. Why doesn't Viktor have anything to say about all this? He opposed Piltover's aggression towards Zaun in Season 1, and in Season 2 when it's multiplied by a 100, he just kicks back and relaxes with his worshippers?

Ok, hear me out,
Nikto with erectile dysfunction
Living with Acute Disassociative Disorder and severe PTSD makes him feel completely disconnected from his body, making it hard for him to control. And the amount of medication he has to take just to stay somewhat sane has to have some negative side effects.
It doesn’t matter what porn Krueger sneaks in or the pretty girl Nikto imagines while palming his cock because it always ends the same. With no relief. Softening before he can finish.
It’s a huge blow to his pride. Nikto’s violent, practically a killing machine, yet can’t get his own cock to work properly.
But it was fine. At least he wasn’t hypersexual like Krueger or desperate like Konig.Besides, he couldn’t care less about sex. Relationships like that were hard when he felt like a ghost haunting his own body.
However, he could only tell himself it was fine until you started dating you. Well, less ‘dating’ and more ‘deciding you were his,’ but it was the same in his cold, dead eyes.
Looking at you like this, after teasing you for the better part of the hour, he could be more ready to take what was his. You were laid out infront of him, hands bound and whimpering. His cock was painfully hard as he fished it out of his loose boxers.
With a cruel precision, he lined himself up. One thrust was all he needed, and god, he couldn’t wait. He pressed a harsh kiss to your stomach, his scarred lips bruising your stomach.
You cried out as he pressed in, then pulled out almost immediately.
“дерьмо, дерьмо, дерьмо!” He muttered, stuffing himself back in his pants.
Your teary eyes opened. He had stopped. That… that wasn’t like him. He never cared about your feelings, he just did what he wanted. You managed to prop yourself up by your elbows, wrists still tied.
“Nikto?” You called to him, fearing that he was having another episode. You squeezed your thighs shut to stop the dull buzzing, and this time, he didn’t stop you.
He hissed, pulling back, anger plastered across his face. You couldn’t yet see what was wrong.
He ignored you, opting to sit on the edge of the bed facing away from you. You didn’t speak after that. It would make him upset if you did. His temper was as delicate as the mine fields he has run across.
Instead, you sat up. You pressed your chest against his back. The cloth of his shirt was rough, a dark blue, standard KorTac shirt. Even if he stripped you bare, he refused to allow himself the same vulnerability. You leaned forward, letting your cheek rest against the back of his neck and hugging your arms around his torso as best you could with the handcuffs intact. Your fingertips couldn’t touch with how wide he was.
The two of you stayed like that for a long moment. He didn’t say anything, so you assumed you were doing something right. It takes him a long time to snap back to reality, and your arms were growing tired.
“…We wanted to fuck you tonight.” The vulgar words sounded so strange coming from a rough, sad voice. He was genuinely upset.
That’s when it clicked. If he wanted to fuck you, he would have. There must have physically been something stopping him.
“I know,” you replied simply. It was such a dumb thing to comfort your kidnapper turned Stockholm Syndrome partner over. Perhaps being with him for so long truly did drive you mad. “We can try again, some other time, if you’d like.”
The offer sounded so innocent for what it truly was.
It wasn’t enough to completely melt away his insecurities, but he took one of your hands in his. He played with your fingers, until he squeezed too hard and you attempted to pull back, only for him to catch the chains around your wrists he had tied on.
“Yes. We will,” he said firmly, his eyes finally flitting to yours. “You are ours. It is only a matter of time until we will be official.”
“Yeah,” you agreed, voice soft. “Official.” The word stung the back of your throat. To him, dumping his seed inside you was practically a marriage proposal. You were hardly his girlfriend, just a toy, you weren’t prepared for whatever being his wife entailed.
“Then, we will fuck you until you cannot move. That way, you cannot leave.” He spoke like a serial killer planning their next kill. “We can do it, we are very young.”
Pure fear compelled you to speak. “But, I need to be able to walk.” Maybe he’s think it was a joke. You hoped he did.
“We are strong. We can carry you.”
You grimaced. He must have picked up on your expression. Just like when he first brought you here, he wasn’t convinced of your words. He had tortured enough people at work to know when someone was upset, though quite frankly, he couldn’t care less about someone’s feelings.
With a sharp tug to the handcuffs leaving bruises on your skin, he pulled you closer.
“Are you thinking bad thoughts again, Роза?” He flicked your forehead. “We’d be happy to remove them for you.”
A threat. He was far more direct with his feelings than you were.
You shook your head, not interested in whatever make-shift lobotomy he had in store. “No, no bad thoughts.” You steeled your nerves as you continued, “I’m just thinking about you.”
That seemed to please him, at least. He twisted his fingers around your binds, leaving little space between the two of you.
“Я не уйду,” he said the phrase he told you over and over, eyes narrowed. “Say it.”
The very words that slowly melted you from the inside out. That he made you repeat so many times that you didn’t know anything other than the Russian he was teaching you. The final straw that sealed your fate long ago.
He told you the words meant ‘I love you.’ You weren’t so sure he was telling you the truth.
“Я не уйду.”
He laughed, the noise devoid of joy, gave you a rough pat on the head as a show of appreciation, then laid down in bed, bringing you down with him, not caring enough to undo your binds. The feeling of his flaccid cock pressed against your ass was a sharp reminder of what was yet to come. You doubted you could hold him off forever.

I thought the ending to Friendly Rivalry was hopeful and symbolic of their new freedom and future together. I'm also one of the fans who thinks it was a happy ending even though you didn't get to see a big reunion with an embrace or kiss. You can chalk what I'm about to say to theory, but there is a lot of dialogue and symbolism in the show that supports that Jaeyi and Seulgi will inevitably be together.
Without a doubt in my mind, the ending to me was Seulgi visiting Jaeyi. I believe Seulgi is there in the ending, and that's who Jaeyi turns to smile to. It is the same real smirk and soft gaze that's only used with Seulgi. It also mirrors the smile Jaeyi does on the diving board when Seulgi rushes to stop her. Even if you don't agree Seulgi is there or the things im going to point out below, she WILL BE eventually because there because that's the point of Jaeyi and Seulgi's relationship and parallels throughout the series.
Ramblings on the final scenes:
Seulgi wakes from a dream about her and Jaeyi walking together through the forest in the area where she grew up that ends with Jaeyi letting go of her hand like outside the courthouse and leaving her all alone. She wakes to find a gift from Jaeyi outside to immediately show the opposite. She's not gone. She's still here. She hasn't left or forgotten Seulgi. She's not letting go. She's reaching out.
Inside the gift box, the first thing you see is shoes. Shoes, when given as a gift, mean the person you give them to will leave. Jaeyi wants Seulgi to leave to come find her, so she finally gives them to her. This concept was mentioned earlier in the series when Jaeyi didn't give Seulgi shoes with her new uniform because she didn't want Seulgi to leave. Jaeyi could've gifted Seulgi shoes before faking her death but didn't because they weren't meant to represent parting or that Jaeyi was leaving her by dying and wanted her to move on and live life without her. Jaeyi is a master planner. Everything she does is insanely purposeful. She was planning before Seulgi even set foot in the school. She had a countdown to fake her death and no doubt planned exactly when and how to deliver the shoes.
Jaeyi also gives Seulgi the Keychain back as further proof that it is her sending the gift. The moment Seulgi sees the keychain, she knows it's from Jaeyi. It is something very important to both of them that no one else would give her. Jaeyi still wanted Seulgi to focus on her future and get into the university and letting her know she was alive sooner would get in the way of that. The keychain is also the first direct interaction they really have in episode 1, so it's her reaching out like in episode 1.
Next, the picture shows where she is. It's not a message to just say "Hey, I'm alive." Otherwise, the Keychain would've been enough proof or a small note or the shoes. The picture is to say, "This is where you will find me." It's not a postcard with an address. It's a place Jaeyi knows Seulgi will know because it's the area where Seulgi lived all those years as an orphan. The area she always has nightmares that are then calmed by Jaeyi's presence there with her instead. Jaeyi picked where she would escape in advance and had Seulgi in mind because she wanted Seulgi only to be able to find her. Now Jaeyi is the one alone in that area waiting for Seulgi to come find her.
These gifts are given to Seulgi when it is snowing (winter). The show's social media and the actors have all used a blue heart and a yellow heart for Jaeyi and Seulgi the whole time the show has been coming out. Jaeyi is born in the winter (blue) and Seulgi in the summer (yellow) which brings me to...
The ending we see is not set in the winter like the scene we just saw with Seulgi. It's warmer and most likely the summer after the exams. Some people can argue it's Seulgi just imagining Jaeyi skating there and peacefully waiting for her (which is still a fantastic and hopeful ending for sure), but I believe Seulgi is there when Jaeyi turns because Winter was Jaeyi reaching out and the Summer will be Seulgi reaching back. This act mirrors every time Jaeyi has reached out her hand to Seulgi first, like on the roof.
H
There's also an interesting take that may just be fan theory due to production erros, but I also noticed these things and support it. The person you see skateboarding is Seulgi and not Jaeyi. Jaeyi skates with her left leg throughout the show. The skater you see uses their right. Which would be an odd production error for a scene that is focused on Jaeyi. Enough time has passed for Seulgi to have longer hair and to have learned how to skate so it's not too far of a reach. The skateboard on the dock has white wheels. The one Jaeyi holds at the end has black wheels. This show pays a lot of attention to colors and details, especially in scenes Jaeyi and Seulgi share together, so it's either interesting error or choice depending on what you think. The skater outfit is also similar but not the same. Jaeyi had a white shirt underneath. The skater on the dock had a black shirt underneath (white and black again just like the wheels). In the stakeout/trial episode, they also wore matching color jackets that every fan excitedly pointed out. They could've easily have matching clothes again.
Theories aside. Seulgi said she doesn't like to wait for anyone but waits for Jaeyi throughout the show and desperately searches for her when she can't be found. Jaeyi said early in the show that she may be late, but Seulgi should always wait for her. If you remember, Jaeyi's lateness in that episode was planned. That's why she waited so long to contact her after her "death." She wanted to make sure she safely escaped her father (even though he's free and still searching for her), and her plan worked well enough before risking Seulgi's safety for them to be together. So whether you think that Seulgi is already there at the end or not, every action and dialogue between Jaeyi and Seulgi in the show foreshadows and promises that Seulgi will still be reuniting with her soon. She has all the info she needs, and she's not going to just move on without Jaeyi. They're in love.
If they make an S2, I am definitely watching because I feel like there's more to explore, but if not, I'm still happy with what we got and hopefully it helps more lgbt kdramas be created.

Dp x Dc AU: That one episode of teen titans where they all dress up as Robin + Tim being a gremlin about his legacy + Danny look alike/twin AU.
So there is that episode of Teen Titans where Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven all dress as Robin (Dick) while he's out and it's admitted that the outfit makes them feel cool. Imagine a young Tim hearing that story mentioned in passing by Dick while trying to manage what becomes Young Just-us. And then when Damain becomes Robin?? Gremlin mode activated.
Tim hosts regular 'Robin' Parties, where the idea is that you come in Robin colors, get a mask at the door and everyone gets to basically hang out in civilian clothes without the identity crises for those just getting started. "age appropriate" drinks, games, and good music are all staples. The parties become more frequent once Damian becomes Robin and he pointedly doesn't attend Tim's parties which... Neither of them are really happy about. Family is complicated, but finally, after a few years of cooling off, it's decided that Robin will actually host this years Robin party.
Meaning Tim shows up in casual clothes (MIT sweatshirt) and a mask, and Damian is actually dressed as Robin when the party is starting to get into the swing of things. The point of it is to make sure all the young heroes get to come and start to befriend each other, so there are a few people who show up and have to actually say that they're *insert alias* and this is met with basically "Dope, nice to meet you Robin" etc.
Insert Danny Twin AU (Or just look-alike fuckery) (for either brother but my brain is on Tim Twin au mode).
Danny decides to show up as his human self, grabs a mask at the door before coming in, and is slowly integrating himself into a conversation when someone grabs his arm- "Hey Red your brother is fighting with a newbie about meat products again-"
And Danny doesn't have a brother but my god has he heard this fight too many times with Sam and Tucker- He's going in and he's defusing this situation because he cannot handle the thought of this argument taking over his new friend group. He deals with it enough, okay?
Robin (like, the real one) looks at him curiously while Danny is talking down the other hero Robin (insert here), and the whole room notices when Robin doesn't take the opportunity to dismiss or belittle his older brother (Lmao because its danny). Damian cannot place his unease about Drake (again, Danny, who is not hiding his identity beyond a mask), and simply decides that this isn't worth the effort.
The party moves on but now instead of everyone calling themselves Robin, Danny is distinctly being called Red. It confuses him a bit, he didn't even know Red Robin was going to be at this party (he hasn't met the guy and doesn't know the lore), but he rolls with it because he's made fast friends with Robin (Bart), Robin (Cassie) and Robin (JON). The kid was full little bro energy and it made Danny laugh, he was so surprised when the real Robin joined them and fell into easy conversation with Robin (Jon).
Danny is playing games with a few others when someone goes to grab a broom to clean up- Turns out Red Robin and his boyfriend Kon had been making out in the closet for most of the party- and the whole room looks at Danny like he's tried to trick them. Tim is at first uneasy that so many people mistook him, but once he's in front of his dupe, puzzle pieces start to move around in his head.
"And who are you again, Robin?" Tim asks carefully, though he suspects he has his answer.
"Uh, Phantom, but you know, a lot of people were calling me Red tonight and I didn't get why until just now." Danny laughs nervously.
"Yeah I bet- Find me monday and we can see about a geneology test."
"That leaves us the whole weekend, to do what exactly? Fuck with people by pulling a parent trap style swap?"
"Nature vs. nuture and all but I don't know how you could be anything but my brother with a question like that." Tim grins and they get to scheming.

Uchusen Vol.186 (Autumn 2024) Kamen Rider Gavv | Detail of Heroes ft. Main Cast Interviews (other pages and translations below)
Publication: October 1, 2024 (between episode 5-6)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chinen Hidekazu (Shouma)
"Which shows from the Kamen Rider series have you seen?"
Chinen: From my generation, I watched "Kamen Rider W," "OOO," "Fourze," and "Wizard." I've been watching "Kamen Rider Zero-One," a masterpiece by Director Sugihara, who also directed the pilot of Gavv, and recently I watched "Kamen Rider Den-O" for the sake of studying.
"Who would your all time favorite Rider be?"
Chinen: Including OOO, I like alot of them, but lately I've been particularly fond of Den-O. It was really amazing to see each of the Imagin's personalities being performed by Satoh Takeru-san, the lead actor. The theme song is good too. I listen to the OP every episode without skipping it.
"Please tell us about the time of your audition for Gavv."
Chinen: We were put into pairs, one would play a role reminiscent of the food lover Shouma, and the other played a cool role similar to Hanto. During the first audition, I made a mistake. When I was supposed to do a performance where I entered the room from outside, I mistook the door for an outward opening one instead of an inward one, so I kept trying to pull it when I should've been pushing, and it ended up making alot of noise. I also heard the Producers laughing because I was having trouble getting in, but when I finally did, I continued the performance as if nothing had happened. Thinking about it now……I guess maybe that feeling of disconnect was also linked to Shouma's.
"We're sure you must've been quite flustered at that time"
Chinen: I was really flustered because of that (laughs). I was panicking quite abit because it wasn't an act, I really made a mistake. Still, I thought, "I've come this far, so let's do this!," so it might've been a good thing that I was able to accept it and give an earnest performance.
"How were you informed that you had been chosen?
Chinen: One day, my manager called me and said, "I need you to come to the office after work." I went to the office thinking, "Maybe they're upset at me for failing something?," but they said, "We have a report. We're disappointed to tell you that the final audition for Kamen Rider is no longer available." I was frustrated because I thought I had been rejected, but I still said, "I understand, I'll do my best next time." At that exact moment, the staff came through the door and shot off party poppers. That's when I asked my manager, "This isn't a dream, is it?" I pinched myself just to be sure (laughs). Even though it hurt, I couldn't believe it, and when I finally became aware of it, I felt like, "I'm the happiest guy in the world right now!"
"How did you inform your family?"
Chinen: I immediately called my mother about it. She said, "Hide, will you be okay with having the lead role?" Ever since I was little, I always said I wanted to one day play the main character in Kamen Rider. Both my mother and father supported this dream and saw me off to Tokyo. However, I really didn't think it would come true, and I think I was more worried about whether I'd be able to play the main character in such a big title before I was happy.
"Please tell us your impressions when you learned that Gavv was a Kamen Rider with a sweets motif."
Chinen: I received the proposal at the same time I was chosen to play the lead role, so that was the first time I learned about it. My first thoughts were, "A sweets Kamen Rider?" and "What will the gummies be like?" I didn't immediately understand the concept. It was the same kind of impact I felt when I first saw the orange and armor motif of "Kamen Rider Gaim." Still, when I read the proposal, it was very original and interesting. I could really feel the passion of the creators in wanting to create such a hero needed in the era we live in. I thought, "I want to be that kind of hero, and I also want to do my best!" I was impressed by the way the Rider's design incorporated gummies and potato chips, and I thought, "The person who thought this up is a genius."
"What's your absolute favorite form?"
Chinen: As of right now, it's Zakuzaku Chips. I'm a big fan of dual wielding swords, as I often use dual wielding characters in games. Also, I like the jagged potato chips on its eyes. From a distance, doesn't it look like Kamen Rider OOO? I like that about it too.
"Due to the complicated background of the character, we feel that Shouma, who you're playing, requires difficult performances. What kind of orders did the Director give you?"
Chinen: Director Sugihara said, "While he is a young man, I want him to retain a part of his innocence," and that, "He's friendly, but there seems to be a wall between his heart." He said, "He has a bright side and a dark side that he doesn't show others. I hope you can show us how well you can switch between those two personalities."
"Shouma's upbringing is one thing, but it's also cruel that the enemies he's fighting against are his family."
Chinen: Yeah, I personally think it's so cruel, that I pity Shouma. It's a harsh story for a show that's meant for small children to watch. I personally feel like it's mentally draining to play the role of blood related brothers fighting against each other as enemies. What's more, there's no escape from that fate. However, while the story and Shouma's circumstances are hard, the eating of sweets and poppin scenes help soften the situation. The gap between those scenes gives more depth to the hard story. I also try to be conscious of this when I act differently.
"It seems to strike a good balance between the poppin imagery and the hard content."
Chinen: Some fans predicted, "Is it going to be a show like Gaim?," when they saw the official announcement before the show aired. Kamen Rider productions that start out appealing to the "pop" part tend to have harsher developments (laughs). I myself don't want it to be too serious, so through trial and error, I'm still trying to figure out how to make the "pop" in Gavv stand out.
"The role sounds like a pretty high hurdle to clear."
Chinen: Still, I think it was the same for my seniors who performed in previous Riders. I believe that it's Kamen Riders who overcome their troubles, conflicts, and ordeals.
"How was filming for the transformation pose?"
Chinen: The pose was decided on three or four days before we started filming. We agreed on it through discussions among myself, Action Director Fujita-san, and Director Sugihara. In the first episode, there was no proper pose, as the transformation was done during a pinch, so the pose wasn't done until episode 2, but the transformation scene in the first episode was also very cool. Shouma's body slowly changes, and at the end, we get a closeup of his face and Gavv's mask, but he doesn't change all at once, leaving the eyes unchanged. It was very cool, and I was trembling by the way they showed the expression in my eyes until the very end! This is a special version that's only found in the first episode, so I hope you'll watch it again.
"We think that there'll also be action scenes before the transformation, but what about you?"
Chinen: The action is alot of fun……that being said though, I struggle with it quite abit. Action isn't just about being good at punching and kicking. I have to make the action visually appealing. Despite all that, I of course have to put my feelings into it. Fujita-san was by my side the whole time, and Gavv's Suit Actor Nawata Yuya-san was also always near the cameras, and he was very helpful and gave me advice like, "You did it this way before, but why don't you try it this way?" Also, I practice kyokushin karate, so that might be why I was praised for my kicks. So, when it came to direction, we also had an increase in kicking scenes. Over the next year, I'd like to improve my action skills more.
"How was post recording?"
Chinen: It was my first time, so it was much more difficult than filming. Director Sugihara spent alot of time with me for episodes 1 and 2 in particular, since they're the ones the viewers would see for the first time. After that, Director Sugihara gave me some advice. Shouts like "Hah!" and "Tah!" tend to become monotonous as it goes on, so he said, "I want to see some variation." He recommended the game "Street Fighter" as a good reference. I wrote down the shouts I thought were good in a memo and did them my own way. Naturally, I also referred to the shouts of my senior Riders.
"What's been your most passionate scene so far?"
Chinen: It would have to be the transformation scene in the first episode. Until then, the wind had been blowing so strongly, that it was like a cloud of dust, but it stopped right as it came time to do my performance. Thanks to this, we were able to shoot the cut where the wind makes Shouma's hair rise up and reveals his eyes. I also talked with Director Sugihara about it, saying, "It's a scene where the wind was on our side."
"How's the teamwork with your costars, Hino Yusuke-san and Miyabe Nozomi-san?"
Chinen: Both of them are usually friendly, but when they get in front of the cameras, they quickly switch into their roles. They're the type of people who can clearly switch on and off. Not just for Shouma, they're also my own reassuring friends.
"We were told that among the three of you, Chinen-san's plays the role of the funny guy, while Hino-san's the straight man."
Chinen: Sometimes I'll derail the conversation or make bombshell statements (laughs). Each time, Hino-san puts us back on the right track. Miyabe-san watches from a slightly removed position, but will sometimes react.
"By the way, Chinen-san, what's your favorite sweet?"
Chinen: It's gummies, naturally! However, since I'm from Okinawa, I'd also like to promote "chinsukou" and "sata andagi" (laughs).
"We'd also love to see those two appear as Gochizou."
Chinen: Will they appear?! It seems like they'd be limited to Okinawa. Of course, I'd be happy if they come out, but for now I'll just hope for it within my heart.
"Finally, please give a message directed to all the fans of Gavv."
Chinen: The story of Kamen Rider Gavv began with a young man coming from another world to the human world. I hope that you'll pay attention to how Shouma meets unique friends in the human world and grows. Especially the bond he has with his mother, family bonds is one of the themes, so if possible, I'd like you to watch it with your loved ones. If you watch it, you'll definitely want to show your love and respect to your parents. I'd like to make this a show that you can support throughout the year. I hope you'll pay attention to and enjoy the activities of not only our cast, but also the Gochizou. I look forward to your support throughout the next year!
Hino Yusuke (Hanto)
"Have you watched the Kamen Rider series?"
Hino: I have an older brother, so we had alot of transformation belts from "Kamen Rider Kuuga" and other early Heisei series at home. In terms of my generation though, it would've been "Kamen Rider Den-O." After that, I watched "Kamen Rider Kiva" and "Kamen Rider Decade."
"Who's your all time favorite Rider?"
Hino: I watched it with enthusiasm, so it'd have to be Den-O. When I was in elementary school, I commuted to school by train and was once stopped by a station attendant when I tried to walk through the ticket gate with the pass for the transformation belt (laughs).
"Did you play the role of Hanto during the audition?"
Hino: I also played the role of who I later found out was the main character, but in the end, I was frequently assigned the role of Hanto. Still, I thought his character had a cool position when they explained him to me, so I wasn't sure if he'd fit with my everyday self.
"How was it when you learned that you had been chosen?"
Hino: I was shocked because I wasn't expecting to be picked. The way my agency informed me also startled me abit. I was so happy and shocked, that I was in a state where I couldn't think straight for about five minutes.
"Did you contact your family right away?"
Hino: I was told it was okay to contact my parents as soon as I could. My mother cried and was delighted. Hearing my mother's tearful voice on the other end of the phone caused me to cry as well. My father never seemed very interested in my work, but when I told him that I had passed the audition, he exclaimed "seriously?!" in the loudest voice I had ever heard (laughs). It made me really happy when I heard that. My father's always worrying about me. I started this work when I was in high school, but was told, "You're a student, so your priority is your studies and to then go to college." However, my work became so busy, that it became difficult for me to attend college, and my parents were constantly worried about me. That's why I think I was finally able to reassure them by passing this audition, and it's a new starting point for me as well. In this day and age, TV dramas that run for a year are rare, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to participate in one, and I'll do my best this year without forgetting to keep my mind fresh.
"What was your first impression when you read the script?"
Hino: When I first heard about the motif, I thought, "What would a sweets Rider be like?" I think everyone's first guess would be a poppin, cute hero. So, while yes, the designs give off a cool, cute and modern feel, the story is very dramatic. The lives of Shouma and Hanto, who I play, will gradually overlap, and many other appealing characters appear, which always makes me wonder what will happen next. I myself look forward to the next script whenever I receive one. How will Hanto become a Kamen Rider, and how will he relate to Shouma after becoming one? I hope that you'll look forward to that.
"Did the Director give you any orders regarding your performance?"
Hino: I was told, "It's good to be more flexible." There's the way he approaches people with his fake smile when he's a freelance writer, and his "I'll crush you" anger when he confronts a Granute. It didn't matter what others would think, he told me, "I'd rather you vary his strengths and weaknesses so that he looks like a different person." At first, I thought Hanto was a cool character. It certainly looks that way when compared to Shouma and Sachika, but there are surprisingly few scenes resembling that in the show, it's more like he's clumsy around people. The Director raised the mood of my first appearance scene, up to the point where it felt like a silly older brother had appeared. That part changed the impression I had when I first received the script considerably.
"We have the impression that freelance writers are prone to being disliked, as they're always snooping around and are persistent in pestering the main character."
Hino: While I can't speak for myself, Hanto himself is a character who's teased during the show, so he's the most lovable character. He acts with conviction, and I think that's what makes him so cool, but he sometimes ends up getting nowhere, so he gets teased. And yet, when he's teased, he'll get angry and say, "Don't screw with me!," but he doesn't deny it (laughs). The reason Hanto's slowly becoming more like that may be due to the fact that my own character is starting to come out. In this sense, I feel that the synchronization with the role has risen. This way, Hanto's character has a wide range, so I'm able to play him rather freely.
"After this, Hanto reaches a major turning point when he becomes a Kamen Rider, so did you switch up your performance there?"
Hino: For Hanto, it's not so much a situation where his fate has taken a turn for the worse, it's more like his connection from the past has further unfolded. That's why rather than switching between before and after he becomes a Kamen Rider, I tried to separate his role as a freelance writer from his desire for revenge against the Granutes. To tell you the truth, after I learned about Hanto's early life, I tried to avoid "seeing" his family as much as possible in order to understand his loneliness alittle better. That's why when he confronts the Granutes, I think his eyes are pretty much burning with anger. It is of big help for him that he's surrounded by cheerful characters like the Gochizou and Sachika.
"How was the first transformation scene?"
Hino: Before his first transformation, another major event happens to Hanto which leads to him becoming a Kamen Rider. With the power he's acquired for the first time, Hanto's first transformation is a scene where he shows the anger and hatred he's been holding onto for such a long time towards the Granute. Trying to convey those emotions through my performance was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I think that Valen's transformation itself was also unrefined, unlike the image of a perfect hero with overwhelming strength. Still, he's unrefined but works as hard as he can, so I'd be happy if everyone who watches the show can feel that there's a cool feel to him. In a scene where "tears" are an important point in the direction, I was so emotional, that tears genuinely ran down my face as well. I still remember this because it was a moment when my emotions and my performance matched up.
"As Hanto, did you feel like he reached the climax from the earliest stage?"
Hino: No, no! This isn't the end of his story! (laughs). I'm sure there'll be many more climaxes from now on, and I'm personally looking forward to them.
"What did you think of Kamen Rider Valen's design?"
Hino: There was more chocolate than I expected (laughs). Despite that, it's cool. I also like that Valen is a "helmet type," while Gavv is a "mask type."
"By the way, Hino-san, what's your favorite sweet?"
Hino: Chocolate of course!
"Do you have a favorite secondary Rider from previous Riders?"
Hino: It's Kamen Rider Zeronos from Den-O. I love his "I'm pretty strong!" catchphrase! In terms of actors, I like Yoshizawa Ryo-san, who played Kamen Rider Meteor in "Kamen Rider Fourze." When you're that cool at giving a performance, you can't be beat. Director Kamihoriuchi previously told me that when Yoshizawa-san was told to "do something like this," he instantly made it his own performance instead of following instructions. He also said, "His ability to adapt was exceptional." It made me want to be an actor like him. He's a respectable person.
"We'd like to see a catchphrase from Valen as well."
Hino: Yeah. He currently doesn't have any lines that he's always saying, but I'll try to bring out Hanto's human appeal while standing beside Shouma, the hero from another world.
"Do you want to film some action of yourself before transforming?"
Hino: Action is fun! I do voluntary training on a daily basis together with Valen's Suit Actor Kaji Kotaro-san, Gavv's Nawata Yuya-san, and everyone else on the Action Team. The day before an action scene is set to be filmed, they would assist me in practicing for it. With the exception of impossible scenes, I've been challenging myself to not use a stand in.
"How's the teamwork with your co stars, Chinen-san and Miyabe-san?"
Hino: We get along very well. They're both really adorable, but they're professional actors who are reliable on set. In a good way, we're rivals and friends. I hope I can build a better relationship with them from now on.
"Not long ago you said, "It might be his own fault that Hanto's become a character who's teased," but is Hino-san himself a character who's being teased?"
Hino: Basically, I play the role of responding to Chinen-kun's jokes (laughs). However, including Miyabe-san, when the three of us are together, I sometimes play the role of a fool, and will often be the one saying, "Hey, cut it out~." That's the way things usually go. Just so you're aware, I am the oldest (laughs).
"And now finally, please give a message to all fans of Gavv."
Hino: For me, Kamen Riders are the heroes I've dreamed of being since I was a child, so I'm very happy that I'm able to be involved in this historic series. Over the next year, I'll do my best to meet and exceed everyone's expectations with sincerity, and without forgetting my original intention. I look forward to your support!
Miyabe Nozomi (Sachika)
"First, please tell us about the time of your audition for Gavv."
Miyabe: I'll be honest, the audition was a disaster. The audition script contained several assignments, each being individually numbered. At that time, act 2 was a fainting performance and act 3 was a conversation between two people, and even though I thought, "I absolutely have to pass!," I was so incredibly nervous, that I ended up doing a fainting performance for act 3. The other actor spoke to me according to the script, and that's when I realized, "This is wrong!," but it was too late. The final audition didn't go well either. The Director told me, "Act like an aunt from Osaka," but I wasn't confident that I could pull it off, and that's when I became depressed and thought, "This is a lost cause." In spite of all that, I was surprised that I was chosen.
"How did you receive the report that you had been chosen?"
Miyabe: After the audition, my manager called me to come to Ginza. As I headed there and thought, "I wonder if they're upset about something?," they messaged me with, "Take a selfie with your phone." I didn't understand what they meant and was like, "Eh? Did I gain weight or something?" but then I got a message saying, "You passed the audition." It seems that the selfie was to document me going from freaked out to smiling. I had never been so emotionally moved as I was at that moment. This video captures a memorable moment in time, so I hope to be able to release it in some form someday (laughs).
"Have you watched the Kamen Rider series?"
Miyabe: I have a younger brother who's eight years younger than me, so we watched "Kamen Rider Drive," "Ghost," and "Ex-Aid" together. After I passed the audition, I watched "Kamen Rider Gotchard" in order to study.
"We're sure your brother was happy to know that his sister was going to play a role in Kamen Rider."
Miyabe: I still haven't told my brother yet (at the time of this interview). I was given the okay to talk to them about it, so I did contact my parents right away. I plan on surprising my brother by not telling him until the official announcement.
"What were your impressions of Gavv from reading the script?"
Miyabe: Each and every character has a story to tell, so I thought it was a production that'll keep you interested even early on. That's why I can never wait for the next script. I'm sure all the viewers feel the same way.
"Did the Director give you any orders regarding your role?"
Miyabe: Along with Shouma's Chinen-kun, Director Sugihara gave us acting lessons even before filming began. Each time, I was told, "Cheerful, cheerful." It was required at the auditions, so I always try to have the cheerfulness of an Osakan aunt and the kindness that seems to embrace everyone. Sachika is a gyaru president, but I've personally lived a life with no connection to gyarus. I also wasn't the type to stand out in class. That's why after I was chosen for this role, I learned to be more like a gyaru by listening to songs with a cheerful tempo, reading gyaru magazines, and watching official Youtube channels and TikToks.
"What does Miyabe-san think a gyarus mind is?"
Miyabe: I wonder…….No matter how difficult a situation may be, you can always think, "Well, I'll figure it out!," and in a positive sense, I think it's important not to "overthink" things. A friend of mine often says, "Keep a gyaru in your heart,” and I thought it was a very good saying. Thanks to those words, I'm now able to have a gyaru named Amane Sachika reside in my heart.
"Playing the role of Amane Sachika is also a "transformation" for Miyabe-san."
Miyabe: You're right! There's quite a gap between myself and Sachika, so I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that it's a transformation for me. I've never played a role so different from my own self before, so it's fun (laughs). It's not just acting that I enjoy, but also doing alot of research for the role.
"Did you also make your hair blonde for the role of Sachika?"
Miyabe: I did. I've always had black hair, but I bleached it three times to make it blonde. At first, every time I looked in the mirror, I was like, "Who are you?" (laughs). Still, once I got used to looking at it, I started to see myself in photos as a different person from who I used to see when I had black hair. Sachika also wears heavy makeup, so you might not even notice me when I walk down the street during my private time. That's why I'm thinking of wearing colored contacts and false eyelashes in my private time so people will notice me (laughs).
"Sachika isn't a fighter, but are there any plans for action scenes?"
Miyabe: There are no particular scenes set for me, but I was once allowed to participate in an action session. I didn't do very well at the time, but I'd be happy if they could prepare some action scenes for Sachika too! Since I went through great lengths to appear in Kamen Rider, I'd like to try my hand at action.
"Would you like to transform into a Kamen Rider like Shouma and Hanto?"
Miyabe: I'd like to do that too! Recent series always have female Kamen Riders, and my dream is to be one of them. However, Sachika's a woman with a strong heart, so even if she can't transform, I'd like to use the strength of her feelings as her "weapon."
"Miyabe-san, which Rider do you like more, Gavv or Valen?"
Miyabe: That's a tough question! (laughs). Gavv's a Rider from another world, so he's incredibly strong, but when he's alone he usually ends up in a pinch. And since Valen's the one who helps him, it's like they're one and the same. So, I guess I'd go with both.
"Have you ever directly seen the Kamen Riders on set?"
Miyabe: They're so cool! Being able to see those forms up close and personal will definitely motivate me for the next year. Before I entered this set, I thought the camera work was what made the action so powerful. Naturally, there are scenes like that, but the action itself is very powerful. When I watched episodes 1 and 2, I was surprised to see that the scenes that were already powerful without CG were even more powerful with CG.
"Were there any other spectacles unique to tokusatsu heroes?"
Miyabe: The Gochizou are made by using both props and CG, so during filming of the CG scenes, Chinen-kun talks to Gochizou that aren't there. I thought that kind of performance was difficult. Still, Sachika doesn't know that the Gochizou exists. She also doesn't know about the Granutes, or that Shouma and Hanto are Kamen Riders. They're so close, yet she only knows about Kamen Riders through gossip. I can only imagine what would happen to Sachika if she knew of the Granute's existence. She might want to try to get along with them instead of fighting. Of course, she'd become angry if someone she cared about got hurt by them.
"What's been the most impressive scene up to episode 5?"
Miyabe: Sachika runs a general store, so she and Shouma do alot of jobs together. I enjoyed the scene where they were handing out flyers to advertise the ramen shop. I'm looking forward to seeing what other jobs they do in the future. I also like the scene in episode 3, where Hanto comes to Hapipare and Sachika pokes him with a toy. I thought it was a good representation of their relationship. It's not that Sachika can't read the room, as when she has to do something, she'll do it, but the mood of the place comes first (laughs).
"Hino-san himself said that Hanto's a character that everyone teases."
Miyabe: Hino-kun himself often makes the set feel more relaxed when he's teased. I also mess around with him alot (laughs). It's kind of easy to tease him, almost like there's a sense of security and that it's okay to tease him. He's the oldest out of the three of us (laughs). Chinen-kun lightens up the mood with his interesting remarks, like when he says, "That's one way of thinking about it!" Once Hino-kun gets into it, it becomes really noisy. We screw around when it's time to screw around, but we're very serious when we have to face our roles. They'll suggest things like, "Let's try this here," or "Let's practice this alittle." I'm glad that the three of us will be together on this set for a year.
"Miyabe-san, what kind of sweets do you like?"
Miyabe: I like plum types of sweets, like crunchy plums and dried plums. On days when we have filming, I'll stop by a convenience store and buy one of those before heading to the set. However, the makeup artist pointed out to me that I should be careful not to eat too much, otherwise my face might puff up (laughs).
"And now finally, please give a message to the fans of Gavv."
Miyabe: Kamen Rider Gavv is poppin and cute, and I think it's a show that'll be easy for all kinds of people to relate to. I really hope that people of all ages will watch it. Since I'm also "armed" with a gyarus mindset, I'll do my best to cheer up tons of people. I look forward to your support over the next year!

Hi! I saw your Percy Jackson asks where open and I wanted to send in a request! How would Percy react to a fem reader who is the child of Morpheus the God of dreams? Like I imagine being a child to the God of dreams would make one fall asleep randomly when they are still new to their powers, so how would the scenario play out if perhaps one day reader falls asleep on him during a movie night? Would he stay as still as possible as to not wake her up or would he do something else like gently wake her up/move her? Hopefully I made this detatiled enough but in anyway thank you!!
Tumblr media
You were just halfway from dozing off when Percy’s voice brought you from the cusp of a deep sleep to ask:
‘Does your dad look like-‘
‘For the last time Percy no, my dad doesn’t look like Tom Sturridge from The Sandman.’ You replied before he could even finish his question. It wasn’t the first time he asked this question after watching the Netflix show ironically about a man who bore the same name as your godly father, Morpheus, the god of dreams; Something that you now had a bone to pick with Neil Gaiman over.
‘Sooo he doesn’t blow golden sand at people’s faces to make them fall asleep?’ Percy continued to ask but at this point you knew that he was only doing this just to get a rise out of you and also to keep you from falling asleep again.
‘No-will you pack it in, in trying to get some rest from today.’ You said as you lightly smack his arm whilst readjusting your head onto his shoulder for more comfort, already feeling the lull of sleep beckoning you to fall further when Percy once again spoke up.
‘But you already do enough sleeping as it is!’ He cried but tried his hardest not to move too much in fear of agitating you, knowing firsthand how much you hated your sleep being disrupted. ‘And I can’t help that!’ You exclaimed. ‘I’ve been falling asleep at random ever since Morpheus claimed me as his own. It’s almost as though I’ve suddenly developed narcolepsy or something.’ You were still getting use to your powers that for some reason would backfire now and then, causing you to have bouts of almost narcoleptic episodes where you could just be talking to someone then boom; there you were, fast asleep in the strawberry fields or on the sandy dunes of the lake as though it were the most comfortable place known to man.
It worried to everyone to begin with but upon being claimed, it started to make a lot more sense that whenever you did spontaneously fall asleep, it was easier to be accommodated for; letting you sleep because you were mad cranky when woken prematurely. Connor and Travis learnt that the hard way when for an entire week their dreams consisted of being chased by a very angry humanoid goose, as if being chased by a regular goose wasn’t scary enough. Just one of the few perks of being the child of the god who could morph dreams and enter them however he saw fit.
The subject of your tendency to fall asleep at random was soon dropped entirely as you and Percy went back to watching the movie that was already well within it’s third and final act. Well Percy was, you on the other hand…were fast asleep on his shoulder, uncaring of the crook in the neck that you were surly developing from your uncomfortable position. Percy doesn’t notice until he goes to look at you to make a joke on a certain scene but stopped and the words died on his lips as he stared at you adoringly. ‘Why am I not surprised that you’ve fell asleep. Again.’ He says softly to himself as he watched how your grip on his arm would occasionally tighten as though your dream had taken a tonal shift, only to loosen up and relax not a moment after.
Not that I needed my arm or my shoulder anyways. Percy thought to himself as he tried his absolute hardest to stay still for your benefit but he might as well have asked Medusa to make him into stone instead because he was doing such a shit job at not moving at all. It was almost as if all his limbs had minds of their own as they’d move or his fingers would tap against his thigh impatiently as the movie ended and the credits began to appear on screen; With the remote too far for him to reach without waking you up and nothing else to occupy his restless mind, Percy felt as though he was in his own personal hell and heaven, or fields of punishment and Elysium.
For one, he got to admire you as you slept, completely at peace and safe within his presence as you would oftentimes shuffle further into him, making noises of discontent when you thought you felt him move away and tightening your grip; Something he found undeniably adorable as he watched the twitches in your face and tries to guess what kind of dream you were having based off them. Secondly he desperately wanted to move, his brain was telling him to move, but Percy would rather not risk having an angry human sized goose chasing him in his dreams for the next week because he accidentally woke you prematurely from your nap. He knows you wouldn’t do that but in cases like these, it he’d know it be better to be safe and sure then expect special treatment; which upon retrospect sounded a lot worse then getting chased by a human sized goose.
So Percy allows himself the fate of being your makeshift pillow, though not before pressing a kiss to your head, wishing you the sweetest of dreams before inevitably falling asleep himself as he rested his head atop of yours, crook in his neck be damned.

One day, she was there with you at your side, cuddling you to sleep whilst she promised to be back soon from a mission. And the next, she was gone for good, far away somewhere to escape her adoptive father's murder, including you, it seemed.
In a way, you weren't all too surprised by it, considering how her episodes were. Yes, it drove you mad to be apart from her for more than a couple of hours. But you were used to it and told yourself that she'd be back for you eventually. You two had an unreadable bond. You were always her "pretty girl" since she first met you. Would it be dramatic to say that it was maybe even love at first sight? It never was to her, at least. She always was the one to claim that you were made for eachother.
Yet now you wondered if it was all a simple lie. Or maybe she had forgotten all about you in the heat of the moment, the panic drowning out any emotion she had for you. And you stopped thinking about it about three months into her disappearance, hoping that acceptance would set you free from the exhausting cycle of fear and depression you were in.
How were you even functioning without her anymore? The answer to it was "not at all", but even that was too simple. Jinx had abandoned you. She had done the one thing she swore she'd never do because she out of all people would understand how much that hurt. How much it messed with one's soul and body. Every second without her tormented you, and you couldn't help but wonder why you weren't enough for her to at least take you along to wherever she went. You would've followed her to the end of the world if it meant not ending up alone like this anymore.
You were going crazy and it only solidified when one night you found yourself waking up to the image of her laying on her side in your once shared bed, those magenta eyes glowing in the darkness of your room. You had imagined this moment plenty of times before in many different ways. In some daydreams, you scream at her in anger for abandoning you, and in others, you simply ignore her and turn away, just like she had with you. Neither of those things happened, and instead, you burst into tears and practically jumped onto her.
You asked her for an explanation. You asked her why she abandoned you. You asked her if she still loved you. But all she did was soothe you as you cried and sobbed, her hand carefully rubbing your back up and down with a newfound softness she had never had before. Whatever she experienced in her absence must've changed something in her. You could feel it deep down. The way her soul seemed lighter and calmer. But your anger for just leaving you like this didn't subside, even when you drifted off to sleep.
You woke up to an empty bed, though, and that confirmed that you must've been hallucinating... until you notice a small note on your nightstand detailing her return in a couple of days. She hadn't forgotten you after all. She had come to find you despite her grief and tribulations.
And that made you smile weakly for the first time in months as her love finally seeped in again, even from afar.

Reassurance
summary You comfort Evan after he has to deal with his parents over the course of four days.
word count 730
tags fluff, just someone being there for my bb buck, short and sweet
a/n So basically I was watching the Buck Begins episode and died every minute where his parents neglected him and generally every second of that episode :( so expect some more Buck fics to come (Eddie too tho !!)
masterlist
Tumblr media
You didn't know but you were probably the sole reason Buck wasn't completely breaking down every day he wakes up and has to deal with the two people that call themselves his parents.
After the first dinner he had felt bad, but he'd felt like he usually does with them. Alone, unwanted and never enough. That day he'd come home to you, quiet and dull.
You hadn't made him talk about it when he didn't start explaining himself, instead you simply wrapped your arms around him and held him close. That's when he'd felt loved. That night he waited until you had fallen asleep before letting himself cry.
What did he expect? For some reason he had hoped they'd changed. Or at least that they would be proud of him. After all, he'd saved a lot of people and does so every day. Instead he is reminded that they hadn't bothered to check on him when he almost died twice - first by being crushed and second because of the blood clots - and then laid in the hospital.
Those were the people supposed to love him no matter what and all he got was constant criticism.
That night you had woken up not long after him because of his missing warmth. With a worried expression you'd found him and once again, held him close. He had melted into your arms, tears starting to fall again as he clutched you close as if scared to lose you.
After reassurance you would gladly give any day you had gone back to bed, your hand on his cheek and caressing his birthmark.
Today you hadn't even known Buck would see them or be confronted by their doings. The last time you'd heard about them was when he explained that he had a brother. That he was only conceived to be a match for a bone marrow transplant.
That night had been harder than the one before. You're quite sure no matter how much you tried to show him that he wasn't just a failed way to save someone you don't think it got completely through to him. And you didn't blame him; you couldn't imagine living with something like that weighing you down.
You're in his kitchen trying one of Bobby's recipes when the door opens and Buck comes in. You could read him like a book; there wasn't a moment you weren't able to tell what he was feeling. But now? You genuinely didn't know.
He was frowning but there's a smile resting on his face and his eyes are red.
“Buck?”
He looks up, seeing you there in his sweater with a knife in your hand as you chop vegetables for a recipe from Bobby he loved, and he breaks. But instead of simply crying he chuckles, too.
“Buck, what's going on?” Your voice is worried and he just shakes his head as he wraps his arms around your waist and presses his forehead to yours. You put the knife down and reach up to cup his face and your index finger soothes over his birthmark, something you'd made a habit over the year of being with him.
“I think they're finally accepting me for.. me.” He only says and you sigh but nod. He notices your slight apprehension and quickly adds on, “But I don't want them to. I don't need their acceptance. They don't decide how much I'm worth.”
Your mouth forms an ‘o’ in surprise but you laugh breathlessly and nod, “Exactly. You're saving lives on the daily, you don't need anyone to tell you how good you are. Not your parents, not your friends, not me.”
He nods along until the last part where he cocks his head and looks at you with his signature half smirk. “I do need you to tell me how good I am, actually.” That makes you smile as well and you sigh, “That's not what I meant and you know it.”
He just shrugs and unlike when he first came in you can see pure happiness and love on his face.
“God, I love you so much, Evan Buckley.”
He grins and surges forward to kiss you passionately, his hands gripping your hips as if you'd slip through his fingers any moment.

Tuvok & Seven co-parenting the borg children should've been real and canon like it is in my heart. It makes sense that Seven suggests Neelix as a good possible caregiver but with how ready Tuvok was to take responsibility for Tressa in 'Innocence' it seems to me like such a wasted opportunity that he doesn't really seem involved at all with the Borg children. With my ha-ha glasses on, there's comedic potential in their dynamic and I think certain people on the ship would hint that it might be the catalyst for a romance but there is 0 romance between them. They're both such proud, I'm-better-than-you type people and I know they'd have strong opinions on how to raise the Borg children that sometimes conflict. 'My Ex-Borg Drone is an Honor Student' type PTA parents. The potential for Tuvok being the (comparatively) more easygoing one is also quite funny. Also, with my sincerity goggles on, I can easily imagine Seven becoming overwhelmed with the sudden responsibility of caring for four children. I understand that everyone on Voyager sort of cares for all the children but Seven is placed as their primary guardian/mother-figure which is a lot to put on someone who's only been fully sentient for a few years herself. Just learned how to eat solid foods semi-recently and now she's a single mom? I think there could be an episode where Seven is clearly struggling with managing four children, her own work duties, her desire to be alone/pursue her own interests, and everyone's expectations for her (womanhood, humanity etc). No one's behind malicious but it's a lot of critiques coming from all sides. Then one evening she's working in astrometrics before someone...B'Elanna? Comes in for some work thing and is like "So, how did the bedtime story go?" because the kids were excited for Seven to read them to sleep and Seven's like I Have To Go Right Now so she rushes to the cargo bay expecting to see a lot of disappointed faces but instead Tuvok's in there, reading aloud. Tuvok gestures for her to stay quiet and finishes the last line. Mezoti, the last clinger-on, finally lets herself regenerate. Seven and Tuvok talk in his quarters about how difficult Seven's been finding the task of essentially raising four kids because I think she'd put a lot pressure on herself because of her personality + Janeway's expectations since she was the one who said Seven should be their guardian. I also think she'd be bewildered by not being able to do this 'task' efficiently. Tuvok talks about how he also found the experience of being a father difficult and bewildering, and he only had one child at the start. He encourages Seven to rely even more on others, that it won't make anyone think less of her for "not being able to handle it" and gives examples from his own life. He makes a point to tell her about how Janeway also helped from time to time - covering his shift or picking up one of his kids etc, to show Seven that he doesn't believe Janeway wants her to try to do everything alone. Seven thinks about this for the night. The next day, in the mess hall, she suggests in front of everyone "We should raise the children together. As a unit." Tuvok's confused. Seven says she noticed a lot of responsibility was shared between Tuvok and his wife. A parental unit. It also leaves the children with another primary caregiver in case one of them dies. ("Dies?" Mezoti asks so Tuvok pulls Seven away). Tuvok tries to explain that he meant more 'it takes a village' (in his Vulcan way) but Seven is like "You like the children. You've raised children. You are reliable. You are more knowledgeable in certain aspects of this general process while I possess superior knowledge of their unique ex-Borg needs. You told me to rely on others. The children can't stop talking about story time. Are you in?" and Tuvok, somewhat dazed, agrees. Seven says Good. Then she leaves. Tom claps Tuvok on the shoulder. "Congratulations, Dad!"

I kind of hate even asking this question but I’m going to ask it anyway.
Why do you think CC decided to totally retcon the mythology in the revival? Do you think he was bored of it? Did he think it didn’t fit in with “modern times”?
I know the mythology was kind of a mess at the end but I don’t think it was so bad that it was beyond saving.
It’s just, when you watch the struggles and accept the retcon it makes the Orginal Series feel like a waste of time. I’ve also heard theories that the Struggle episodes are told by an “unreliable narrator” for example CSM is an unreliable narrator in MSIII, Jackson is unreliable in MSIV. That just sounds like a cop out. It all just gives me a headache honestly. 🙁
tl;dr: CC is interested in new ideas; and will always be willing to cast off old ones in pursuit of fresher perspectives. His passion for the latter mythology was born from Dr. Simon's and Dr. Fearon's last-minute theory; but when it got fan backlash, he pivoted the focus from his revitalized mythology to the abandoned William arc. However: because he was chasing tantalizing ideas rather than a focused conclusion, Carter completely fumbled in his attempts to close up old threads in order to start afresh.
A couple reasons:
CC and Spotnitz wrapped up the original mythology in Season 6 (One Son), deciding that it had both blossomed out of control and somehow come together. Mythology wrapped up, they then finished off the Samantha arc in Season 7 and began a new mytharc in Season 8. Season 8's Existence, according to Spotnitz, functioned as the end of the original X-Files as a whole--
Spotnitz: "And the series will be different, whoever comes back for it [Season 9]-if there is another year. We’re still working out what that final story is, but there are a couple of elements that we know are going to be in there. And those two elements close the chapter.”
and,
Spotnitz: Whatever I said, what I mean to say is that 8 years of the series will come to a close this May, regardless of whether there is an X-Files next season. I actually believe most of the important questions about the mythology have already been answered, believe it or not, and you will see some new ones asked in upcoming shows.
--leaving room for Season 9 to begin a new chapter for the show (one no longer centered on Mulder and Scully's evolving story, since it had been concluded.)
That... didn't work. So, IWTB's focus, years later, was on a MOTW instead, with the hope that it would succeed and become a stepping stone to a movie-mythology franchise series.
That didn't work, either. But CC never gave up hope for a 3rd movie.
Then 2015 rolled around and FOX approached him for a revival.
Carter: I had one question thrown out to me at a meeting. [Fox Television CEO] Dana Walden asked, “If there were another series, when do you think you could begin work on it?” It wasn’t an overture, more of a practical issue. That was before the show ever aired and they knew what the ratings would be. There’s been no conversation about doing more of these. With the ratings news, it’s hard to imagine that they wouldn’t come back to us.
I would love to do another movie. Especially coming off that second movie, which had such a heavy weight upon it: A summer-release, low-budget movie, with no promotion, in a crowded field of tentpole fare. I was asked to do so much with so little. And I tried! If we were to do another movie, it would need to be akin to the first movie, which I thought was a story worthy of the big screen. That said, I can’t imagine they won’t want to somehow figure out how to do this on TV.
CC didn't know where to take the show, and only signed on after being told the season would be short (and might give him a movie, which is what he really wanted.) It was Dr. Anne Simon that actually got him excited about the mytharc again: as she tells it,
"What was the Conspiracy? This [Struggle I and II] is the conspiracy. Now, did Chris know that this was the conspiracy [since the original show]? Obviously not-- because I told him what the conspiracy was. But he knew that there was a Conspiracy-- he just didn’t know what it was. But when I told him, when I gave him this idea [plot for MSI/II], he was just, ‘This is amazing’-- I mean, he was so happy. ‘I want more, I want more, I want more!’ And every time I sent him these pages, typed pages, he was just, he was extremely happy. I could tell how happy he was.”
(Dr. Anne Simon's an interesting rabbit hole to go down, btw. Gonna do a post on her contributions in the future.)
He redid the focus of the show in Season 10; and his writers and collaborators and even his actors-- David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, both-- thought it was a well-written season (I know....) But the fans did not.
So, CC made a statement after FOX confirmed S11: shippers had been heard-- there would be more MSR and William. So much so, he brought William back purposefully to give his arc a resolution.
And when that didn't work out-- when CC's 'perfect' ending was hated by fans (and famously, Gillian) for feeling more like a cop out than an address-and-move-forward conclusion, he felt slighted and misunderstood.
In short, Carter wasn't invested in his series anymore-- and, to be fair, neither were David and Gillian: all three (and Spotnitz) wanted to do movies instead. FOX said no; so, they took on Season 8 and 9. When the middling traction from S8 flopped in S9, CC deviated from the mytharc and did IWTB. That flubbed; and he let the matter rest for a few years (still hoping for more movies.) When FOX only agreed to do another series, he didn't know what to do with the mytharc. Then Dr. Anne Simon and Margaret Fearon gave him a direction-- and, yes, both worked on (and cosigned) the mytharc episodes-- and got him excited to do something new; and more of it. And we all saw what happened thereafter.
(Dr. Anne Simon also worked on the OG mytharc episodes, and has nothing but good things to say about them and the Revival. Again, a future rabbit hole.)
In conclusion: once CC's interest is engaged, he loses track of all else and devotes his aspirations to that one thing-- to the detriment of not only the whole picture (i.e. mythology) but also other equally important moving parts (i.e. Gillian's desire to move on.)
I could go on, but I think that's it for now.

Future Fics
now that the end for 'cut it out and restart' is somewhere in sight (anywhere from 4 to 7ish chapters, i know what i want to cover just a matter of pacing and exact order) i am considering my goals for future fanfics, i have so many ideas so i need to learn to put them down better, i hope to get in to the habit of trying to write something at least once a week but we will see...
before i get any further and you wonder why the hell i am posting this; i guess i want feed back? which of the ideas excites you most? i am so waffley on what i want to do next a single person's enthusiasm may be what seals the deal for my next project.
I DO have a long fic idea for another dratchrod fic but i would need to re-read MTMTE to make it as convoluted as i hope to (it would be a total AU compered to the original plot that just borrows some large elements form the original to flesh out the story) so that's on the back burner
but in the mean time here is some ideas that i feel i would be able to finish if i put in the time (a lot of my other stuff is half baked or missing a major story arc to make it happen) i imagine whatever i settle on they would be interspersed with shorter fics if i can find the time to do it ( ̄▽ ̄)"
if you are a Hot Rod simp like me you will be in for a good time, if not; my condolences
Idea 1: Hot Rod is the younger of Optimus’ two protégés and generally considered the troublemaker of the two. With the Autobot Decepticon war now at full tilt Hot Rod is assigned a position of Captain aboard a fast patrol ship. Will this be the chance he had been hoping for to prove to Optimus that his mentor hadn’t wasted his time or will it be another failure in a long string of disappointments?
alternative summery of this fic would be: a series of unfortunate events. a lot of it deals with Hot Rod's daddy mentor issues, general self doubt, loneliness and learning about who he is, the ship would be g1 characterization of Ultra magnus/Hot Rod, not a slow burn but slow to happen due to when they finally meet in the story
idea 2: 8604 567ROD, Hot Rod to his friends, knows a Vehicon's lot in life is not an easy one so he never thought he would make it to the end of the war and never made any plans for it but now that it’s here what’s a cannon fodder trooper to do?
tfp AU i WILL make you care about vehicons or so help me! the ship would be a friends with benefits (? mostly idk it's complicated) arcee/hot rod and springer if i can wrangle him, decided to go the g1 fusion route instead of MTMTE as a treat ✨
Idea 3: By the time the rescue bots make it to griffin rock they are a reasonably solid team but how did they become one?
this would be a sort of slice of life for emergency rescue team that's learning to work together type of deal , it will give me a chance to use my fascination with industrial disasters 👍 no real ship but maybe hints of heatwave/chase
shorter fic ideas that might happen in between
idea 1: the direction the decepticons have been taking  have left Hot Rod discontent, maybe the autobot side will be more to his taste.
(this is Hot Rod is a decepticon but switches sides story with a twist that will be revealed relatively early on, the main ship is g1 characterization of Ultra magnus/Hot Rod)
idea 2: another Hot Rod becomes a (field) medic during the war fic
this one would be episodic, i have at least 3 arcs that i would write as separate stories that are in the same AU no real ship for Hot Rod but some background stuff maybe, Ratchet is there, Drift will make an appearance if i make it that far
idea 3: the decepticons love competence and Soundwave is very competent.
the setting is a bit nebulous but it's basically somewhere near the start of the war Megatron and Starscream noticing Soundwave and his skills 👀 nothing happens romantically but there is tension and that it might lead to more is implied, could become episodic if i feel inspired
idea 4: Some time after the end of LL Drift's bounty hunter past unexpectedly caches up to him in a perhaps misguided attempt to keep his husband safe he embarks on a solo adventure to take care of things but there's one crucial point he forgot: Ratchet had been willing to cross the galaxy for him before they were even married and he sure as hell would do it again! But this time he is not alone.
self explanatory ;) Ratchet/Drift/Rodimus end game
feel free to leave feedback, questions, ask for clarifications and so on...

be in my heart? - will smith
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
wc: 1.2k
tw: depression, anxiety, family angst? therapy, episodes, mental health, etc?
will smith x oc celebrini sister!
this is me trying au
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
lola's summer had been going fine. she would never admit it out loud, but she was finally seeing a therapist who was actually helping her work through her dark thoughts.
she was prescribed anti-depressants, and they had definitely helped with her mood, but she had reason to think a certain curly-haired blonde was also contributing to her overall newfound happiness.
the two had been texting, calling, and facetiming any time either of them had the chance, and the girl wasn't in any way complaining. he had been making her feel things she hadn't felt in a long time, making her realize she had been longing for that feeling.
she was currently sitting at dinner with her parents and brothers as she texted will with pink cheeks and a cheesy smile, occasionally letting out little giggles at the stupid videos he would send the girl. her brothers looked at each other with knowing eyes before smirking.
"lola," aiden said in a sing-song tone as she let out a 'hmm', eyes still glued to her phone.
"who are you texting" their little sister, charlie, smirked, joining in on the teasing.
"no one. stop looking at my phone," she said moodily, pushing her sister's head away. and finally putting her phone down.
"a little birdy told me something a few days ago." macklin smiled. her father looked between the siblings hoping to gosh they wouldn't set his daughter off.
"shut up," she said with a glare, picking up on the fact he had somehow heard of her and will.
had he been telling people?
maybe it was all some kind of joke.
her insecurities began to creep up and claw at her skin, quickly.
"c'mon, it's not bad, but imagine my surprise when I had to hear it from a stranger at the combine" he kept teasing while her sibling snickered, while lola glared.
"boys, stop bothering your sister" her father let out. knowing it wasn't long till they set her off.
"lola, how's it going with you and will?" her mother asked cluelessly asked when she came back from the bathroom. the siblings letting out laughs and 'there it is' while the girl turned pink.
"good" she mumbled playing with the bread
"that's wonderful; I have a feeling about that boy; I like him," her mother said as she took a bite out of the bread.
"me too. lola's not as mean anymore," her little brother joked as her family nodded and laughed, not knowing the spiral that little comment was about to send his oldest sister to.
lola looked at her brother with furrowed eyebrows as she excused herself and basically sprinted to the nearest bathroom. she locked the door before taking a good, long, and hard look in the mirror. seeing nothing but a shell of the person she used to be. the person her siblings used to know. the girl who would hang out with them, drive them places, and play video games, was no longer there; instead, it was a heartless bitch, and they knew and saw that.
in no way did she ever think about how they must have felt. she thought back to every time she unknowingly probably hurt their feelings. when she told charlie 'hell no' to the idea of a sleepover at her new apartment. or that time she couldn't get herself out of bed and missed RJ's sixth-grade promotion that he begged her to go to, or when she refused to fly to boston to see her brothers when they moved away. all those things added up, and it was no wonder they had deemed her mean. she deserved it.
she sniffled as she saw a call from will incoming. she cleared up her voice before answering.
"hello?" she tried her best to sound fine.
"lo? are you okay?" will say right away, hearing the shakiness in her voice.
"not really," she answered with a sniffle as she saw that will was trying to facetime her.
"what happened?" he asked worriedly. the two had been texting for weeks now, and he had finally got the girl to open up to him, so he knew she went through episodes; he just didn't think he could ever get used to seeing them.
"it's literally stupid-"
"it's not stupid if it's making you cry," he told her as she sighed.
"i'm at dinner with my family, and you know how family is. they're nosy. they started asking about you and they said something that really hurt my feelings, and now I'm crying in the bathroom"
"about me? do they not like me?" he said feeling a bit insecure.
"no, it's not you. they love you-- it's just RJ made a joke and said that ever since we've been like a thing, I haven't been as mean. and I know he only meant it as a joke, but it really hurt my feelings but I mean, I deserve it-" she sniffled, looking away from the camera.
"don't say that. you're not mean-" he stopped the girl
"compared to the old me, i am," she said
"there's no 'old me,' lola; people grow up and evolve. and if anything they know you better than anyone, they understand you're not okay all the time-"
"I don't think RJ and charlie do. they're younger they wouldn't understand it-"
"you're not giving them enough credit. from the stories you've told me they sound pretty smart," he said as she sighed.
"i feel like you always know what to say," she said
"i try," he said with a cheeky smile that made the girl giggle.
"this is embarrassing. I look like shit," she said, realizing her eyes were puffy and red.
"you're beautiful, and if I have to spend every hour in the world telling you that till it's engraved in your mind, I will," he said as lola turned a light shade of pink.
"stop," she said, covering her face as she heard will chuckle.
"i'm really excited for next week," she said dreamily as she stared into the phone. will and his family were planning to visit san jose, to scout apartments and that meant a reunion for the two growing lovebirds.
"me too. you have to take me to all your favorite spots" he said as she nodded.
she was cut off when she heard her mother's voice come from the other side of the door.
"lola honey, are you in there?"
"i'll call you later. bye beautiful," will said as she waved goodbye to him before hanging up.
she stood up and opened the door to see her mother's worried face.
"i'm sorry if we bothered you, i can have the car take you home, or even back to your apartment if you want to be alone-" her mother was cut off as lola threw her arms around her.
"I love you, mom. I'm sorry," she said softly as her mother hugged her back.
"sorry for what?" she asked concernedly
"just, for everything. i know i'm not the easiest to deal with, and for that I'm just sorry" she said as her mother shook her head
"you were never something i had to 'deal' with. I love you, and I just want you to be okay," she told her daughter before squeezing her again.
"me too," she said into her mother's neck. promising herself to change her ways. hoping to god he'd help her accomplish that promise.
