"Y/N! Just the face I wanted to see" John's sudden voice behind you caught your attention.

"Oh- Hi John." You quickly responded with a friendly tone, although some hesitance inside was pulling you away from being so casual.

You weren't sure what it was, as the last time you two spoke he quickly left without an explanation and didn't bother to elaborate further. His behavior remained casual, albeit now less irritable by you standing close to Harley. It was as if nothing ever happened. Which only made you even less sure of what you and John were. Well, at least you were aware he thinks of you positively, but that's about it.

"What's up?" You pushed your thoughts about the confusing situation away, instead pointing your focus on his grinning expression.

"I'm glad you asked!" He was quick to respond. "I was just thinking- We haven't hung out much lately, did we?"

"Uh... I guess not?" You remained neutral and casual, but you were curious whether John had a reason to mention it.

"Yeah! You know, we had this whole discussion about me being jealous over Harley and whatnot, and I just wanted to show you that's not a thing anymore." He explained happily, leaving you even more curious. "So- I wanted to celebrate that with some ice cream, maybe? What do you think?" He looked at you with the eyes full of glee, waiting for your approval. He was sure you'd agree.

"Um- Yeah, alright." You shrugged, keen on the idea, yet still unsure of John's true intentions behind the offer. "Why not."

"Great! Let me just get-" He stopped for a second "-my cool guy glasses." He showed you a silly grin as he rushed to his Ha-Hacienda. After a few minutes he came back, now truly looking cool. 

John looked somewhat happier today. Did he really achieve his nirvana when he realized he wasn't in love in Harley anymore, and just wanted you as his best friend?

Well, you weren't about to make things weird by asking possibly awkward questions for the both of you. Things were fine as they were, John didn't hate you, you still got to hang out with him. Nevermind the fact that you were forced to now carry a constant mix of emotions around him.

"Great, it's all going how I imagined it!" John thought to himself.

He finally got you! He was sure of his feelings now! And it wasn't like with Harley. 

He had a hard time coming to terms with the thought that he did, in fact, liked you more than her. And that you was the reason why he was feeling so miserable all the time. John's feelings might have been a mess past this few weeks where he has been confused, but now he knew it.

You were made for him. And you even said you liked him! Well, you liked boys, you liked John to the point of being best pals... He didn't just wanna assume you're into him, though. That's why he took you out to that pal-hangout. To get some answers. But of course, he didn't wanna make you uncomfortable if you weren't into him at all. That's why he didn't tell you that when he had the chance.

A voice in his head was telling him that there's no way you'd ever love him back, even if "all the clues were pointing to that". But he was determined to proceed with his plan.

While he was babbling about unrelated things, he kept observing you. How you reacted to his jokes, his topics, careful to see if he ever bored you. But seemingly he didn't. You were just casually listening to him, never making him feel not appreciated. That's what he loved about you. He didn't see it sooner, as his usual fixation on people was, well, usual. He couldn't deny that he was starved for attention. His therapist told him that, hence why he didn't wanna assume everyone he likes is whom he loves. But now he was sure his affection for you was greater than previous one he had for Harley.

After a deep, long and meaningful session of thinking to himself, he concluded that he'd rather spend the rest of his life with you than with her. If only you'd reciprocate the feeling...

"Well, here we are!" He proudly pointed to the Café Triste.

"I am dying to get my favorite drink. Coffee, with ice cream. Can you believe what they come up with nowadays?" He said, playfully starting the topic.

You saw him looking at you, smiling politely and amused, yet still casual as ever.

"John, I think it's been a thing for some time now..." You reciprocated the playful remark.

"Damn, Always smart as ever!" He didn't hesitate to give you the compliment and grinned even wider, making you involuntarily smile from lighthearted flattery.

He carefully thought about saying it ever since he left his house. And a day before. Okay, he planned this whole thing from A to Z, ever since he figured out he had a crush on you. There was no room for fails, and so far it's all been going perfectly. 

He saw you shaking your head in amusement, to which he grinned widely and proceeded to finally buy you both whatever you wanted. "His treat".

Once you both received your orders, you sat yourselves at the nearby table. You couldn't deny the meeting felt somewhat like a date, although you quickly shunned yourself for thinking like that - you really didn't want to disappoint yourself if it wasn't.

"Y/N, so, I was thinking... Who's the closest person to you, right now? No, too weird. But I've been told to just be myself, and Y/N likes me for that... What if he doesn't like the true-true me, though?"  The flashbacks from his thinking session kept haunting him as he watched you carefully sit down on the opposite side of the table. He couldn't ignore how much he liked being around you. And he wasn't able to tell if you knew. The fear in his mind about being perceived as too obsessive or "creepy" towards the person he saw as the most precious was slowly eating him out from the inside, which he tried to shut down by casually taking a sip of his drink.

You noticed a smallest change in his demeanor, which wasn't uncommon with John, although you had a feeling he seemed somewhat worried. His gaze was just out of it for a moment, which you could only assume signified that he was in deep thought. After hesitating for a while, you decided to speak your mind. Calmly, of course.

"...Is there something on your mind?" You slowly approached the topic with a soft, patient, and a bit unsure smile.

John rapidly straightened up, almost yelling in response.

"Yes, actually!" His hurried words mixed with the volume made you flinch slightly, you didn't expect him being so open about it - but nothing out of ordinary when it came to John.

"Oh-" You quickly pulled yourself together. "Go ahead then, I'm listening."

You saw his face melt into a mix of anxiousness and giddiness, and by this point, you were at the edge of your seat, awaiting what he's gonna say.

John cleared his throat and started fiddling with his hands.

"So- Y/N, you're not seeing anyone, are you?"

The question stuck in your head for a few moments. You got your hopes up, yet your face looked like a deer in the headlights, which John took as a negative reaction and continued.

"Just asking, out of curiosity- I mean, you can tell your old pal, right?" His rambles started getting quicker. "I- I need it, for a dating advice."

The last sentence made you rethink your thoughts again - was he really asking for a dating advice?

"Uh... no, I'm not seeing anyone." You responded truthfully. "Can I ask how does this relate to, uh, dating advice?"

"Hah, of course, of course-" His focus travelled from his drink, you, to all of the environment around him. "So, you see, I was thinking-"

He stopped talking for a moment to take out something out of his pocket. You carefully watched as his hand pulled out a rectangle shaped object and held it to you closer so you could see it. It was a card with the picture of a door and text under it saying "I A-DOOR YOU".

You tilted your head a little, but the card made you involuntarily smile at how cheesy the line was. Before you could say anything, John quickly intervened. 

"Do you think it would be a good way to show someone you wanna date them?"

"Uh..." You took a moment to respond. "Well, it depends on a person."

John waited a moment before clearing his throat.

"What would you think of it?"

"Personally, I think it's cheesy - cheesy, but cute."

"Okay, that's all I needed to know-" He quickly took the card back into his pocket, making you want to ask what was the point of all of this, but you were interrupted.

"Now, pretend you see it for the first time!" And so the silly thing was on the table again, this time closer, he passed you the card instead of just showing it.

You took it into your hands, processing what happened in every possible way, you weren't sure if you got his shenanigans right - was it for you?

"Well?" The anxious grin plastered on his face made you confirm your thoughts.

"Oh- Is- Do you really, like, like me?" You couldn't help but reciprocate the anxious smile of his, you didn't expect such turn of events, but it was warmly welcomed.

"Yes, buddy!" He beamed, stretching his arms, but there was still a slight hesitation in his voice, since you didn't say you liked him back yet. "Is that, uh-- alright?"

The expression on your face turned playful (or bashful, some could say) as you held onto the object with adoration.

"Shit- I'm not prepared, I don't have a card with me-" You watched as John intently listened to your words, his smile growing even wider - which you weren't sure was possible at this point - and you put the card behind your back, before showing it to him "anew".

"Pretend you see it for the first time." You repeated his words, hoping he'd catch on what you did.

John's face turned into one of a simulated surprise, looking at the card and holding his palms together in a gleeful gesture.

"Oh my, Y/N! It must be destiny, because I feel that way as well!" He played along, already overwhelmed with thoughts about how he's gonna reminisce about this moment for a long time.

definitely don't imagine their bodies starting to sway to distance music as they begin to enjoy just peacefully existing together, breathing the other in without a single word

So this is basically just a thought I come up after watching the movie, I haven't got a chance to read the book but I'll try to when I have free time.

So short summary this might be headcannons I've come up for the time being before making a whole series about this.

This series might end up as Yandere Platonic Batfamily x Nimona!Reader

Nimona!Reader headcanon:

Reader is gender neutral since they can shape-shift into anything and anyone, the concept of being a girl or a boy is confusing to them, They are Y/N simple as that.

Y/N's power is like Nimona's minus the magic sparkles you see in the movie, their body shifts each cell to anything they want but like her or even Beast Boy they have telltale signs that it's not just any animal or person.

When Y/N shifts into any animal they have the hint of red on the skin, fur, scales or feather while if they shift to a person they have red stripes of hair on their head.

I would like to keep Nimona's red/pink-ish hair because why not? it's Iconic and I love it, really pops out in Gotham that Y/N is a the main character.

The rest of the other physical description is up for the readers to decide.

The setting of their origins goes back to the mid-early Gotham days, where the corruption is it's highest, a perfect plot to explain why they became so hateful to the city and later to the world.

Batfam Headcanon:

Bruce Wayne

Let's start with this bat pajama wearing vigilante

As I told before Y/N is already a citizen of Gotham at the beginning ahead of Martha and Thomas Wayne time and few generation of Wayne's and the original known influencial families in Gotham.

When Young!Bruce met Y/N it was the day Bruce fell in a cave/well at the back of the Wayne mansion

Except instead of Thomas rescuing Young!Bruce it was Y/N who did

Y/N save Young!Bruce and calm him down, he still became afraid of bats but the memory was tied together with their first meeting making it hard for him to forget Y/N

Young!Bruce and Y/N (who shifted to a young child) became friends behind Thomas and Martha's back

The two loving parents would always listen to their son telling stories about his new friend who can shape-shift

They only smile and encourage him to talk about his new friend because they thought Y/N was an 'imaginary' friend he made up after the traumatizing event.

Then here comes the canon event, I got two scenarios with me first is that Y/N was there when the death of the Wayne's happened and they shifts into a large deadly bat after the trigger was pulled and killed the mugger making Young!Bruce traumatized and call them a monster.

Second that Y/N was gone and came back after that night and Young!Bruce blames them for not showing up when he needed them because they promised to protect him.

Fast-forward to the present Bruce became Batman and already when through Dick, then him now as Nightwing Barbara from Bat-girl to Oracle (still in the process of healing), Jason, Jason's death, adopting Tim and making him Robin, Stephanie to Robin before Spoiler as well as adopting Cassandra before Damian came after Talia introduce and told Bruce to 'get to know his son' unfortunately no Duke yet because in order for him to be introduced everything in the batfam should have settled in including Jason but I will put him later on the series and He'll have his own introduction to Nimona!Reader.

Reread that again Jason's death but no reconciliation with him and here comes the next part I love.

Imagine this setting, it was raining in Gotham and Bruce as Batman was in pursuit of the Vigilante named Red Hood.

After finally cornering him, Bruce found out about Red Hood's true identity being the revived Jason Todd, his late Robin and son.

But before he could apprehend Jason, the younger male only smirk and whispered something before a pair of red blood bat wings emerge behind Jason.

A person rose up from Jason's back having a that familiar her color and a pair of glowing eyes looked directly at Bruce's as the mysterious person's with uncanny features that stood behind his son tickled the back of his brain.

Before he could utter a word he was cut off by a one strong flap of wings, soon Jason and the figure was up in the sky, the large bat wings flew up in the middle of the moon's form and their large wings spread open as if to mock the symble of the Batsignal before disappearing.

Headcanon for Nimona!Reader relationship with Bruce

At first I was planning on making Nimona!Reader as Young! Bruce's childhood first love before making it a sibling relationship

Still open to a romantic one if people are ok with it but I'm more fine with a sibling dynamic

You already see Young!Bruce as your Brother and you still do even after the harsh fall out the two of you had.

You already knew he was Batman by scent but never bothered with telling him or showing yourself

It's fun to wreck stuff at Gotham and making the big bad Bat frustrated and angy.

The only thing he's glad about is you never interacting with the Joker

for the Yandere part is that you being a big influence to his younger days being his only friend and literally the one who save him from the well/cave accident.

You became one of his fears and inspiration to become Batman

and seeing you again made his feeling from before come back and resulted to needing to find you and to reunite with you again.

Jason Todd/Red Hood

I'll pick him as second since I think I should put the order of how close the members of the Batfam are to Y/N

I can imagine him as Ballister to Nimona!Reader but more dark and is actually a villian that Y/N is going to join and become his sidekick

I was planning on mixing two version of Red Hood/Jason Todd maybe Arkham!Red Hood/Jason and Young Justice League!Jason Todd? weird but I need to this two version of him to connect for the plot I have in mind so stay with me

So Jason died by the Jokers hand at Arkham and his dead body was snatched and revived by Ra using the lazarus pit and became the League of Assassins puppet for a few years before escaping and became the Arkham Knight

He started a few solo missions, killing criminals and making a name -remember not Red Hood yet- first before moving on the recruite people not yet joining forces with the scarecrow

Y/N saw the Gotham news and found out about The Arkham Knight and was like

News reporter: He's a criminal

Y/N: He's awesome

News reporter: He blew up a building and killed people

Y/N: He's fucking metal

News reporter: He's Evil

Y/N: He's perfect

After that they broke into one of Jason's secret hideout and tell him about becoming his sidekick making Jason's ptsd come back about being a robin and Batman's sidekick

Jason threaten you with a gun since he's still angsty and depressed because of Bruce but you're more stubborn than him

First time you ever shape-shift he asked you if you were Beast Boy/Garfield's relative but you genuinely don't know who that is

He freaked out a bit but warm up to you little by little since your actions remind him of his kid days and unfortunately when he was Robin as well

As Arkham Knight he needed you for escape plans, distraction but most importantly on stealth missions seeing that your shape shifting powers was handy

But stealth missions are the ones you hate so when you end those missions You.Break.'Some'.Shits

He was pissed of course but quickly shut his mouth when you already had everything covered, now he doesn't even get bothered by your 'metal' moments

Then the whole Arkham happened, Gotham City was still fixing and healing but then the criminals still came back, Batman is still alive (Scarecrow didn't get to expose his indentity as Bruce Wayne because Jason save him in time) but didn't make up with Bruce and after that he finally became Red Hood

Headcanon for Nimona!Reader relationship Jason

When you met him you already smelled Bruce's phantom scent on him

It's smelled normal like a lingering scent but enough to tell you that Bruce is not Jason's biological father but still somewhat close with him, how you have that skill? I'll call it a weird mutation you have being a shapeshifter

You call him Boss but you actually treat him like a younger brother or act like mother/aunt-ish around him most of the time

Jason always think you could as well be his younger sibling but we all know your older than him by a few decades.

I kept Nimona's red colors since I think it'd be fucking awesome that two of the person that hated Bruce or became Bruce's nightmare and pain in the ass are both wearing or have the color red in their character palette. (Tim......is orange? Idk fckn know some of the fandom give him the orange color)

Damian Al' Ghul-Wayne/Robin

Before anybody say 'why jump to him quickly?' Well Lemme tell you something, Lemme tell you something

Damian's origin is connected to Y/N's origin story, remember when I told that Y/N existed early mid-Gotham days?

Well guess what Y/N was the connection of Ra to the Lazarus Pit and they became one his inspiration to use it.

Damian's grandfather speak highly of you, how you were the perfect being in this world that could widthstand the force of the Lazarus and continue to live forever.

Damian became influence by his grandfather's, mother's teaching and stories about you that deep down he wished to see you face to face

He still is an annoying brat from time to time but after staying at the Wayne and finally experience the life of living instead of surving he tone down for a bit

Ra's words still linger but now he has his own morals he keeps.

The first time he meet you might actually be pretty normal, him in his civilian Identity and you guys being you.

I guess maybe at the park? him just looking out for Titus and taking for a walk and you were just in the grass or the swings chilling.

He wouldn't care for the first minutes but when he saw Titus getting pretty close with you and he just watches as Titus let's you pet him.

He was intrigued and decided to introduce himself since he was in the midst of getting lessons about 'making friends'

Headcanon for Nimona!Reader relationship to Damian

How about like Mother-ish Aunty as well? and Damian also thinks you have a caring moments since you usually care even though you act crazy

EEEEE RIDDLER TALK

So, I also fell for him in 2022, I was more into MCU back then, watching that movie was a big thing for me because I've always liked Batman villains but I didn't really know them, I had only watched Joker (great movie but more elseworld than anything) and every now and then my aunt would come to our house and she would put on Gotham and I always got bored (can you imagine that?), but what I think the biggest part of it was that ever since the pandemic had begun I had gone to drive-in movies only, and I've always LOVED going to the movies so I was thrilled to finally go back to the movies.

I LITERALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH PAUL AND THE RIDDLER, the first moment he came on screen I was in love, I actually have a whole thread explaining why I love him and how I don't care what everyone says about him; I completely fell for his theatrics, drama, zodiac vibes, and OH the corruption he fights against (which is a topic I explain thoroughly in my thread) and of course I had to rush home and look him up!

So I finally watched Gotham, and I loved him, I then found out about Arkhamverse and ALL his other iterations through your writing and here's my top:

see i do not enjoy superheroes all that much, so batman works for me because it feels sort of... based more in reality? i know that makes very little sense but to me it does lmao but yeah other than my husband forcing the wrong batman media on me in the first place i was made to enjoy it, since it's made for the girls, the gays, the goths and the theys and i am all of the above lol

also full disclosure, it took me another watch of gotham to try and get into it, but a lot of things i love with all of my soul took me a few times to get into (i watched the first episode of archer like. 5 times before i decided i would watch the second one lol)

Hiiiiii, back to my usual bullshit, my mutuals will immediately recognize my agenda here:

I want a 60s Batman Point and Click Adventure Game...

WITH Quick Time Event combat... Because it's not 60s Batman without that beautiful combat...

The show runs on so much point and click logic, guys. Getting out of death traps because Batman had XYZ in his utility belt? Or figured out if he leaned to the left he'd throw the whole contraption out of whack and the blade coming for his face would slice the ropes instead? Don't get me started on the Batcave, there's a million puzzles waiting to happen in there. Plus so many great dialogue tree opportunities... (Imagine you could get like four different excuses to slip away from Aunt Harriet and you just pick the one you like the best lmao)

Hell even if we brought back the episodic formula of TellTale point and clicks we could have the perfect 5 episode arc: Our 4 biggest bads (Riddler, Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman) each get one episode, and then a grand finale where they all team up to enact the real plan they were building together all along. (Their powers combined, a Holy Nightmare!)

Functionally, it'd probably be like the Sam and Max games. You play as Batman, and Robin wanders around the scene, can be talked to, and frequently joins the conversation during dialogue trees.

Also let me Batusi at least once to solve a problem or I will riot.

I know Adam West is dead so we'll probably never get more 60s Batman content that requires voice acting, but realistically... so is everyone else except Burt Ward and Julie Newmar. Finding a sound alike won't kill us, especially since it is our only option. (Don't you dare bring AI anywhere near that man, you sick fucks!)

Also you guys know the drill, anyone says "Ace Attorney" or "Danganronpa" in the tags, imagine me doing this:

an idea I had

so if we did get a telltale batman season 3 all I can imagine in an ending and yes in that ending Bruce and John become a couple. they were walking through the streets holding hands and they peek in an alleyway and discovered a orphan who was abandoned by his parents the kid saw Bruce and John and Bruce caring tells the orphan "if you like me and my partner John will take good care of you and give you a nice home." which the kid smiles and accepts ((the fact we didn't see a Robin in the series this orphan will eventually become batman's sidekick))

Hello, I saw your post on how everything is animated in your story and had a thought I wanted to share.

Have you seen: Batman The Telltale Series Shadows Edition? If not you should

It's kinda how I imagine the story if it were a drawing/comic

I have only played the OG, but I'll probably check out the last edition at some point.

Telltale art style is pretty dope, I really like the art style from Wolf Among Us too (the comic it was based on is pretty fun too, but very unhinged). Sometimes it can miss, but that one and Batman were neat.

That's a very valid way of imagining the story too, honestly all ways are valid but this is like a solid A+ tier kind of valid.

I totally see where you're coming from with how you like your mix of comedy and seriousness and I think I'm really similar! I can definitely tolerate a lot of cheese but I'll almost always consider it a one off situation. I recently rewatched Batman and Robin while my wife was making a cast of my body so we could make cosplay and it was just so funny and silly that like it reminded me of what one of those really campy comics would look like in real life and I respected the fact that they could commit to it that way and make an artful movie that brought that to life but there were a few elements that didn't make sense to me like Barbara being Alfred's niece that I was just like whatever man and I knew I couldn't like... use it as a foundation for my basis of characterization, like I can with other media! I really love the animated series too, I grew up with it being my first experience with Batman and I always really respected it as a medium that I could trust to be satisfying and whole. I also really really liked Batman beyond because it felt like the closest continuation of that story even though I know it's really not canon and it kind of doesn't work, I like to view it as like a semi-official what if fan fiction from the original writers lol

I completely get what you mean about the comics, cuz I kind of view official comics like fanfictions even in their own right? I mean when you think back on like Bill finger and Bob Kane like eventually every other writer is going to be writing fanfiction of their characters but it's really fun to go through all the different Batman media and see whose stories you kind of like more and then whose stories you kind of tend to avoid

and when I mentioned I knew you liked comics, I was also speaking more from the perspective that you seem to have more knowledge about them Rather than I thought you had a preference for them, because you put together that comic PDF with batjokes moments and I was really impressed with that ☺️

i love your telltale fics and the games as a beautiful breath of fresh air into the life of batman so sometimes I like to imagine the animated series would be a great way to say where is juce 10 years later, if those universes were more cohesive setting wise lmao

Yeah, Barbara randomly being Alfred's niece is definitely one of the aspects of B&R that just… I guess it breaks up the campiness? That and Ivy being in love with Freeze for no discernable reason. And teaming up with him even though he'll kill her plants. And poor Bane! And then that weird bit at the end where Freeze is sort of forgiven but Ivy can't be? And Alfred almost dies. Should taken all that stuff out and added more camp.

I really enjoyed Batman Beyond too! I didn't even realize a lot of people didn't like it until recently. Honestly it's one of those things where I don't look into the reasons too much. lol I liked it and I'm fine with having liked it, no notes!! (OK I sorta lied. That bit in JLU where they made Bruce Terry's bio dad, that was bizarre.)

I am definitely in the "anything not created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane might as well be fanfic" camp. Like, sure, if DC puts resources behind a project, it has a better chance at being worth your time, but when I get down to it, I can't put a lot of weight behind the idea that someone's official derivative story is more valid than another someone's derivative AO3 post just because there was a cash exchange with a company that owns the original "asset." People who want to lean into that idea, that's their business.

The wild thing about the batjokes spreadsheet is I know that it's only a fraction of what's out there. I have read hundreds of comics at this point and I still feel like it's not enough to totally have a handle on things. Especially knowing how little I've retained. 😅 But that's another reason for the spreadsheet!

Batman Begin...ners Guide.

Okay, so I do talk about other things beyond sci-fi and Halo. Like my Halo Guide, this is meant to be a list of recommendations for folks who want to get into Batman, but have zero clue where to begin because it's an 85-yo franchise with decades of lore and works.

Movies & TV: Both animated and live-action, this is probably the easiest and most accessable way to get into the character and his mythos.

The Dark Knight Trilogy - Watch this first, starting from Batman Begins and ending with Rises. This is a super-distilled film saga that tells Batman's story in the most straight-forward way imaginable; I kid you not, these movies were made for non-comic fans.

The Batman - This is the second most recent film to come out, but Edward Cullen finally does what most vampires can do and transforms into a bat, man. It's a gothic, neo-noir, mystery thriller that shines a light on Batman's detective skills; so while it's not the film I'd recommend you watch first, it is still a very good start.

Mask Of The Phantasm - What else can I say that hasn't already been said? While I personally don't love this film the same way a lot of other folks do, it is the best Batman film in a more objective sense.

Merry Little Batman - This is THE most recent Batman film to come out, it's a christmas kids' film that came out the tail end of last year. It's a funny, cute and very charming flick that focuses on Batman's young son becoming a superhero for the first time while some of Batman's Rogues come to terrorize Gotham on Christmas. Lightning McQueen's brother is Batman in this movie.

Gotham - It's a charming 5 season-long show that I can only describe as "Smallville, but with Batman." It's also got some of the best versions of the fanchise's characters I've ever seen... and some of the worst. That's the beauty of the show to me, it's both 'so bad it's good' AND genuinely good. It's stupid and cheesey just like the comics it's based on and I appreciate and respect how the show embraces the wackiness of the comics that EVERY live-action film is so afraid to capture.

Batman: The Animated Series - Need I say more?

Video Games: As far as these go, there are quite a few really good options; but there's only two that stand out.

The Arkham Saga - I recommend playing through this series TWICE; start in release-date order (Arkham Asylum, City, Origins and Knight), then play the series again in chronological order (Origins, Asylum, City and Knight).

The Telltale Series - This game basically allows you to control the entire story right from the get go. Instead of it being an action-game where you beat up bad guys; it's an interactive film that allows you to customize your own version of Batman himself.

Finally...

Comics: Probably why you're here to begin with. This is where I can have the most fun, since there's so much to pick from that you can't go wrong. I won't talk about these comics, I'll just list them because I'd for you all to read these yourselves.

The White Knight Trilogy - From Batman: White Knight to Beyond The White Knight.

Ever since you joined The Pact, John was ecstatic about a new face around.

You laughed at his jokes, even told some of your own, which got him interested in you.

Everything seemed perfect, at least in his mind, until he noticed Harley started taking a liking in you.

You didn't really like Harley though.

Still, you tried to at least be politely nice to her. She was running this place, so you didn't wanna get onto her bad side.

John partially knew that, but some other part of him was jealous.

He tried to explain to himself it was just his delusions and even tried to ask you about it - to which you responded honestly of course - but it still wasn't enough to convince him.

Whenever he saw you two, he had this indescribable feeling inside.

He was really torn, he valued you as his friend, but seeing you around Harley just broke his heart.

You were just so perfect- Of course Harley would prefer you over him.

He didn't want you to notice, but his behavior did change slightly as the feelings got the best of him.

He was more irritable at the mere mention of you going somewhere with her.

Even if you two were having a good time, the thought of you and Harley crept into his head and didn't wanna let go.

And one day he just snapped.

"Dammit, Y/N, stop lying to me!" He shouted while clenching his fists, catching you off guard.

"...Lying? John, I don't even like Harley that much." You tried to calm him down, but he seemed adamant in his opinion. "And you know that-"

"Well- Yes- Yes, I know! But- I just got this- feeling, I can't get rid of it!" He seemed desperate for any kind of solution in this situation. He really didn't wanna feel that way towards you.

You sighed calmly, still patient and ready to help your friend. "What are you feeling exactly, John?"

His breathing hitched slightly but he managed to compose himself.

You two were sitting in his room, and even though emotions got the best of him, he didn't want Harley to hear what's going on.

Which was especially hard with the place being practically out in the open, due to the big empty windows in his room.

"I know you don't like Harley, yes, you told me that- But for some reason, I have a voice in my head telling me... that something's wrong." He admitted after a while, looking at you like a lost puppy.

You stayed quiet for a moment, contemplating what to say.

"I mean- Look at you." He stared you up and down, making you feel a bit weird inside. "I know what Harley sees in you."

You took another moment, running out of options on how to convince your friend that you're really, really not interested in her.

"Uh... John." You decided to finally say something that would probably change his mind.

He looked at you intently, hoping you'd have some sort of definitive proof.

You didn't really have a reason to say anything like that before, so you held off from that, but it seemed now was the right time to confess.

"I'm- Generally not interested in women."

John blinked at you once, then twice. Processing the info.

He stayed silent for a brief second, making you wonder what was going through his mind in that moment.

But John was quick to tell you.

"Well..." His tone was different. Not negative, but... slightly confused. "That changes things... But actually- Not really."

You weren't afraid of him treating you differently after that confession, John seemed like the most accepting person ever. But you were a bit unsure of what John was getting at.

You tilted your head slightly, waiting for him to continue.

"I- I do feel different now." He admitted, not taking his sight away from you. "But there's still something there..."

"Uh... What is it, then?" You patiently asked.

He tried to pick his words carefully, still figuring out himself what he had on his mind.

"I'm not mad at you, that's for sure now." He figured that out.

"But..." He looked at the floor now in deep thought. "I'd be kinda mad if Harley were to talk to you?"

You weren't sure if the idea in your head was correct, but John seemed to be even more confused than you.

"...You're saying... You don't want Harley to hang around me."

"Yes, that's exactly what I said." He nodded, still unsure what you were getting at.

You felt a bit- flattered, even if it probably wasn't John's intention. But the possibility still haunted your thoughts.

"Uh... John, do you..." You started a bit awkwardly, nervous if you totally misread the situation. "Like me?"

"Of course I like you Y/N! We're like, best friends, right?" He grinned with an innocent expression on his face, which only made you even more nervous.

You awkwardly cleared your throat.

"Um, yeah- But- Do you like me... More than Harley?" You cautiously yet calmly asked.

That shut him up for a longer second, forcing him to really think about it.

"That's..." He once again put a thoughtful expression. "A possibility."

You weren't even sure if John was aware of how much of an effect he had on you, which only added to the feeling.

Did he like you? Or was it just his possessiveness over Harley?

"Well, we know you like me more than Harley, right?" He tried to light up the mood.

"Of- Of course." You responded, unsure to which direction he was getting at.

"Hm... It's true I've been thinking about you two a lot recently." He kept on with the subject. "But I've been convinced it's just been my jealousy over Harls."

You stayed quiet, letting him talk, although in your mind there's been a lot of thoughts now.

He then let out an ambiguous chuckle.

"Look at that, I've just been jealous over my best pal!" He finally concluded. "Well, glad we established that."

He then got up from his bed to give you an unexpected hug.

"Thanks for the help!"

You froze for a moment there, but you didn't want him to feel pushed away, so you gently patted his back.

"Um, you're welcome."

"Well, I think I gotta talk to Harley now. So- See ya!" And so, he stormed off, leaving you in his own room, confused.

...Was he aware he just confessed? He will always remain a mystery to you.

Here are my thoughts from a person who watched arcane 1 when it came out, but never entered fandom spaces:

2. Depends on what you mean (pretty gold lady: forgive I forgot most of their names lol) really felt unfinished. So much so I was shocked when I heard there wouldn’t be a series 3

3. I did notice that. I thought it was intentional. Most of the characters didn’t really know here besides jinx, who wasn’t gonna talk about her. But still. Not cool

4. I agree kinda, it felt natural for the conflict to abate but them coming in later to help didn’t feel earned/wasnt impactful

5. I didn’t really care about the j/c/v hate triangle, and I never really got jinx’s hatred of her. The jealousy was flat and uninteresting. Didn’t mind when they kinda dropped it. Yes I agree their ending was not satisfying, but I can’t even imagine what a satisfying resolution could look like

7. Sevika is silcos guard right? Ah she was always the broody top henchman character. Her boss was gone and her main rival didn’t want to play ball. No other characters she interacts with are interesting. So I don’t know what she would be doing

8. Maddie was a filler character to enhance the background in different. The only reason you care about her is because she dated a main character and had a betrayal scene. If you’re saying the betrayal scene wasn’t impactful enough to exist then ya know true.

9. All of the silco introductions were… a bit jarring. But I like his voice sooooo I’m cool with it. Catvi sexy times were unnecessary, but so was the Herero version back in season 1 so I don’t think it’s a valid complaint. I don’t know what you’re talking about with their ending scenes being fanfiction. Every time vi calls her cupcake I cringe. This also started in season 1

10 I think they just wanted cait to have a permanent viewable injury after a war. To show lasting damages. Limbs ripped off is a bit gorey and eyepatches are sexy.i think you’re looking too much into the significance. If Alfred loses an eye in the telltale Batman game, they’re not trying to tell you Alfred is less observant now, except literally. It’d be cool if the injury did do this tho, I see why you would want that.

11. For someone to sneak past vis guard to get her to join up with them? I don’t get it either. Maybe there was a dropped plot or something

12. I think Maddie was supposed to show ambessa as being a fox. Along with those magical spell tags. She could have been a better fox tho

14…… I did like this season less than season one.. that’s probably a main reason why. The show talks like it’s political but this season definitely didn’t feel like it

1. Nope. Not a fan. Cupcake cringe. The Rachel and Ross of the series. Really not my thing.

2. See it should’ve been but all I could think was I’ve already seen this with madoka Magica. And just like in madoka, it didn’t hit hard. The Astro stuff is just… too magical girl? I can’t take it seriously

4. Did they? It didn’t feel like they did. Isn’t Warwick victors scientist teacher?

5. What was occ? The suicide? The team up with echo? The second suicide or her rachenbach falls moment?

my head's a bit clearer, some thoughts about act 3

-my biggest gripe is episode 7- cool idea, love the concept of peaking into a different universe and seeing what our characters couldve been under different circumstances, but a WHOLE episode. when you only had 9 episode in this season, that already feel like theyre moving at a neck's pace. for a universe that ultimately doesn't matter to the main universe where the story takes place. the fact it had timebomb made it feel extremely fan service-y.

-no emotional resolution to a lot of characters. viktor and jayce are the only ones i can think of that felt like they got the screen time and care for an actual emotional closure.

-isha wasn't even mentioned in this act. in general she was already a martyr for jinx's character development but guys can you make it less obvious.

-it started in act 2, hence why i was so jaded on it, but it continues here: just where the fuck the political drama between 2 cities go? the conflict between zaun and piltover took a back seat since episode 4 and never came back. the resolution to it isn't bad per say, but when u got so little focus on it in the finale it just feels rushed.

-i loved the cait and jinx scene. but like, that was the resolution to it??? after act 1 thinking about it disappoints me. im not against a conversation being the climax to a story, but that is, and im not joking, the ONLY conversation these 2 have in the show one on one. in general the jinx\cait\vi arc ends with 1 conversation per duo (well caitvi got one fight and one very steamy sex scene but u won't catch me complaining). and after act 1, idk i think i wanted just a little bit more. im biased though- the jinx\vi\caitlyn dynamic is my favorite part about arcane. the teasers for s2 always had them front and center so i assumed it'll play a bigger part in the story???

-i felt like what the show was at its core, which is the conflict between the sisters and the cities, was completely sidelined this season. in general i can't really tell what the main theme of the show is anymore. but yeah look at the resolution to the jinx and vi story.did it feel like it had the emotional impact u expected? cause i felt like it was underwhelming.

-sevika?? didnt speak since episode 4???? huhh???

-maddie was pointless. why was she there?? i don't understand the point of that character. i dont understand her motives. she ended up not mattering at all to caitvi's story. the only thing i got from her inclusion is "caitlyn fucks" but is it that THAT important??? of a character trait??? to add to caitlyn of all people?? in THIS season??? this belongs in the realm of fanfiction.

-a lot here felt like fanfiction actually. every silco inclusion (except of him in the cell with jinx), the whole "nobody dies au" they threw in the middle, even the caitvi sex scene (IM NOT COMPLAINING THO). the caitvi scene at the end was dialog out of fanfiction, wtf was that.

-why did caitlyn lose her eye? im not like against the idea on a base level but losing an eye is very symbolic, and im not sure what its supposed to represent here. caitlyn is an observant person, its a big character trait for her. so youre basically saying she sees less now? that she's more laser focused? i sure hope not. wasnt her whole arc with giving up of revenge about seeing the "bigger picture"? her sacrifice didn't feel in character, because caitlyn is not really a "fight to the death" type of character like ambessa is. if she made that sacrifice for something like love, or for the betterment of other people, that would be more in line. idk, you couldve made me on board with it but im just very meh on it. also caitlyn only really emotes through her eyes, it sucks that we get even less of it now?? though i guess it doesnt matter at this point.

-what was the point of the enforcer that looked like vander?

-ambessa was so wasted in these last 2 acts its crazy. where's the "you have to be the fox and the wolf" mindset from her? she felt like she was wolfing only with no wit anymore by the 3rd act.

-mel????????????? it was. uhhh. maybe you shouldve saved it for another series, riot. but in this show, waste of time. the fight she had with caitlyn against ambessa was cool tho.

-i sound like im a hater but u have to understand. s1 of arcane was a political drama and a character study show. seeing all this discarded for magic and time travel shenanigans on like 4 different fronts was so jarring it took me out of the show multiple times.

-cant believe im saying that, but i wish they'd try to stick closer to the characters' current state in the source material (the cursed game). someof it felt out of left field and done for shock value, which isn't why we love the story or these characters to begin with.

Imagine: John trying to stay awake, but he’s so tired he keeps nodding off...

John is clearly exhausted. He’s sat on one of the spindly wooden chairs at by the old table in the center of the subway hideout, surrounded by bulletin boards of blueprints and important documents.

You walk towards him, seeing that his chin has dropped onto his chest, his eyes closed, and you can just make out the sound of his slow, steady breathing - not quite snoring.

John hears your footsteps and snaps his head up at the noise, his eyes till half closed in sleep. “Huh?” He mutters, blinking rapidly, slightly dazed and turns his head from side to side, trying to see what had woke him. He catches sight you where you now stand watching him with a bemused expression. “Oh,” He grinned, rubbing his eyes tiredly, “Hiya, buddy.”

(This is just a random cute thing I thought of because I was falling asleep on my sofa... haha)
