okay, so something unsettling. with ghost x gn! reader. “don’t worry, it’s not my blood”. maybe you are ghost’s civilian friend in an abusive relationship and one day it reaches a point when you’re so scared you lock yourself in the bathroom while your s/o is raging outside the door, banging on it and threatening you. you manage to call simon and ask him to come get you. the result is, well, blood that is not his. 👁️👁️

JUSTICE (Ghost x GN!Reader) — 4K CELEBRATION
[WARNINGS; HUGE warning for abuse and reactions to abuse (I had to take a break writing a part of this), murder, blood + gore + injury, major hurt/comfort, can be read as platonic or romantic.]
Tumblr media
BEING ON LEAVE means Simon needs to restock his fridge and cabinets with enough food for a couple of days. Leaning against the bar of the shopping cart as he turns over the box of tea in his hands. He grumbles since he’s having to buy a new brand of his favorite tea, figuring out that his favorite company discontinued that line. Simon lets out a huff of defeat before tossing the box into the cart and he begins to roll his cart to the self check-out.
Simon bags his items up into his reusable bags and hauls them out to his car, putting a bag down to dig around for his keys. He finds them and unlocks the back, putting his bags in—and then his phone begins to ring. His eyebrows furrow a bit as he takes his cell phone out of his pocket, his eyebrows raising as he shuts the back. Simon swipes at his screen, accepting the call and pressing the phone to his ear as he gets into the driver's seat of his vehicle. “Hello?” Simon asks into the phone, a bit confused on why you’re calling him.
His heart nearly drops to his stomach when he hears you sob into the receiver, a muffled static banging in the background and some unintelligible yelling. “Simon—“ Your tone is laced with intense fear and alertness, and he can immediately tell you’re in a state of a need to survive. He calls your name, not even bothering to buckle up, starting his car.
Simon calls your name more insistently, his tone bordering on panic. “What’s goin’ on, love??” His heart begins to pound as you sob a near incoherent “go away” to whoever is making you act like this. “Hey, hey hey—focus, sweetheart, what’s happening?” Simon insists, pulling out of the parking lot, already decidedly going to your place of residence.
You shudder and sob into the phone and clear your throat. “Please, Simon, pleaseplease hElp me, he’s—“ You let out a heartbreaking sob that makes Simon’s chest ache, his knuckles turning white as he grips the steering wheel harder. “Derek, he’s fuckin’—he’s trying to—“ You’re barely able to push the words out, and fuck, Simon is so glad you’re not too far from the store he was just at.
“He’s tryin’ t’hurt you, love?” Simon asks—it’s so obvious your partner is, but he needs to double check; have you confirm it. “Yes—he’s trying to break dOwn the door—leave me alONE—!” You scream, piercing his ear through the phone. Simon lets out a huff, his heart pounding against his rib cage. “I’m on my way, alright? I’m nearly there, I won’t let ‘im hurt ya, love.”
Simon is definitely going over the speed limit, weaving through traffic and his tires screeching in protest at his movements. You choke and cough, letting out a terrified weeping noise, barely able to breathe. A painful itch blooms underneath his skin, the sensation burning and bubbling, bursting at the seams. Simon was not allowed anyone’s blood to spill except his. Derek’s.
“Breathe, alright? I’m on your street—do ya have anythin’ in the restroom to protect yourself with?” Simon asks, hearing you whimper as the muffled sounds of Derek’s maniacal screaming and pounding is apparent. “C’mon, sweetheart.  I know you’re scared, I know, but you’ve got to stay with me.” Simon insists, and you make a timid “mhm” noise. There’s a shuffling sound, and he’s assuming you’re looking through your cabinets. Simon soon rolls up to your home, and he barely puts the car in park, not even bothering to turn the vehicle off.
“I’m here, darlin’. I’m here. Stay as far away from the door as possible.” And with that, he hangs up. You stutter out his name in fear, but you quickly hear your partner—soon to be ex—Derek redirects his anger from you to Simon, who you hear bellow out Derek’s name. Something about Simon’s tone is.. eerie. Something about how Derek begins to yell and gasp and fucking scream is satisfying.
You cover your ears, curled up in the corner of your bathroom, heaving and sobbing as your head is swimming. You’re dizzy from the lack of sufficient air entering your lungs. You aren’t sure how much time passes, but when you hear a gentle, muffled knock, you hold your breath. Simon calls your name from behind the door, causing you to scramble to your feet.
You sob softly and shakily unlock the door and you freeze at the sight of him—there’s blood splattered across his face, dripping down his neck, caking his hair and his clothes. You nearly scream but Simon quickly holds his hands up, his tone gentle. “Don’t worry, it’s not my blood. I’m alright, love.” The relief that floods you is crashing like waves, just like how you collapse into his arms.
Simon cringes just a bit, Derek’s blood smearing against you and staining your clothes, but your desperate sobs and grabby hands make him forget about the mess. Simon quickly wraps his arms around you and leads you deeper into the bathroom, making sure you don’t see the mangled and unrecognizable body of your ex-boyfriend laying in the hallway, in a puddle of his own blood, organs, and excrement.

As promised: pt 2 of my Javey fic (I put a bit more than last time!) part 1 is here
David woke up in his bed to the sounds of knocking on his window. It was storming wildly outside, huge bolts of lighting and claps of thunder that lit the whole bedroom. Davey rubbed his eyes awake, checking if Les was awake. It seemed he’d already gone to stay with their parents for the night. It wasn't the loud thunder Les was afraid of. It was the sheer force of the wind and rain against the house. Davey didn’t blame him. The storm was the worst they’d seen for a while, especially in the city. He just hoped it stopped by tomorrow, so the newsies didn’t have to worry about being electrocuted or drowned on land.
That’s when he heard it again, frantic knocking coming from his window, followed by a muffled voice saying something he couldn't hear over the water pouring down. He rushed over to his window just as another bolt of lightning struck, illuminating the familiar silhouette of a hat. Jack? Here? At this hour? Davey hurriedly forced the window open, letting a soaked Jack tumble through the window to splat on the floor in a cold, wet heap.
“What are you doing? Running around New York at this hour of night? And in this storm-Jack what were you thinking?”
“I try not ta think too hard about most things, but I was mostly focused on tryin not ta drown while runnin.”
“Are you okay? I know you live with Crutchie. Is everything okay with him? He's not hurt?”
“Nah. Crutchie’s fine. His damn leg told him it was gonna storm, so he beat me to the lodging house, along with every otha’ newsie in Manhattan.”
Davey held out hand to the soggy Jack, who was still laying on the floor shivering from the cold. Jack looked at his hand questioningly for a moment, then accepted the other boy’s offer.
“Look Davey, I'm real sorry I came to your house in the middle of the night. It was a real stupid idea, and I can leave if you want me gone. I was hopin that you were awake, with all this thunder and all, but I can tell you weren't. Im sorry”
Davey looked up into Jack’s face, shocked. “Jack, you know you're always welcome here, middle of the night or otherwise!” He looked Jack up and down, then tapped his chin in thought. “Let's get you something dry to wear, and then find you somewhere to sleep, yeah?”
Jack was in the Jacobs bathroom, changing out of his soaked clothes into a shirt of Davey’s, and some thick socks. He was much warmer now than he was when he fell through the window. He still felt terrible for waking Davey up, however surprised he was that Les was still sleeping. Jack opened the door, and padded back to the boy’s bedroom. Davey was sitting on the edge of the bed, eyebrows furrowed in frustration. When Jack stood in the doorway awkwardly, he beckoned him into the room.
"Where's Les?” Jack asked, as he looked around the room taking in the coziness of it all. There were stacks of books everywhere, most likely Davey's doing, along with stuffed animals and small shirts, which was definitely all Les.
“He's sleeping with my parents for the night. He doesn't like the sound of the wind.”
Jack nodded, and sat down next to the blue-eyed boy. Davey looked absolutely exhausted, and his usually tidy curls were a mess.
“Alright, Dave, what's the plan? I don't want to keep you up any longer. No offense, you look like death.”
Davey shoved Jack’s shoulder playfully, then looked at the floor nervously. “I don't know how my folks would take knowing you came here in the middle of the night, so I think the only place my parents won't find you before either of us wakes up is here. You can take Les’ side of the bed. If you want.”
Jack was too tired to argue. And besides, newsies shared beds all the time. It was one of the problems with not having enough room in a small building for a bunch of rowdy teen boys.
“Sounds great, Dave,” Jack said as he rested his head on the other boy’s shoulder. He seemed to tense, then relax under Jack’s cheek.
“You do need to get off of me if we're going to get any sleep, you know.”
Jack groaned, then lifted himself shakily off of his friend. The two boys settled into bed next to each other, both staring at Davey’s ceiling.
I’m so sorry if this one was a bit long… but there’s more! Again let me know if you want to read it

DAILY BRAINROT
Disclaimer: If nothing I say makes sense, it's probably because I'm so stressed I almost set the microwave on fire.
I'm glad to see that the Warriors knits headcanon is alive and well. In fact, it is thriving. This brings me immense joy because I've been losing my mind over it for the past several months, and it looks like it's here to stay. :) The best part is when someone writes a scene where Legend is embroidering/sewing and Warriors is knitting, and they're BONDING OVER THEIR CRAFTS.
In other news, I am seriously considering making glowing Warriors' power and having it be kind of like those glow-in-the-dark stickers people put on the ceilings of their kids' bedrooms. Hear me out. He can be powered by the sun, like a solar panel, and store the extra energy to do Cool Superhero Stuff with. The unfortunate side effect being that he tends to burn off excess energy by glowing in the dark. This means he has been explicitly banned from working night shifts because his cover would be blown.
It also means that he's the perfect nightlight for kids with nightmares.
I'm really looking forward to writing up more of the first meeting stories now that I've gotten the one about Legend & Wild posted, but since I'm making myself wait until I get the next chapter of Hyrule's fic up I'm just going to ramble at you about it instead.
I haven't decided which one to do next, but I have thought about the one for the trio (I also need a better name to refer to them). Anyway, I'm thinking that Twilight and Warriors actually grew up knowing each other, but sort of lost touch for a little while. Twilight was busy with the Twili stuff and getting used to his new abilities, while Warriors was in the middle of the mess with Cia. Sometime after that, they get back in touch, and they've both decided that they want to move out. Twilight wants to leave Ordon because he feels uncomfortable there now, and Warriors wants to move to a different district in Castletown to avoid anything related to Cia. Right around the same time, Sky is looking for roommates because he doesn't want to go to college in Skyloft or something. Ghirahim probably has something to do with it because I kind of doubt that he'd be very chill about Sky killing his master... Regardless, they get introduced to each other and the rest is history.
Slightly related to that, Sky is going to be an interesting combination of ideas here and is quickly becoming a favorite of mine for this project. He's kind of similar to Time because he's an incredibly powerful individual that dropped off the radar. He showed up, kicked villain butt, and then vanished (curtesy of Sun). I'm poking him because I have a lot of ideas about that. Maybe he doesn't like thinking about it? Maybe he doesn't remember what he did? Maybe it wasn't actually him and he was just possessed or something? Could he maybe be the source material for the experiment that made Wild? Is he just like this or is it trauma or his power(s) or did someone else do this to him?
Gnawing on all these questions as if I don't have things due tonight.
IM SO SORRY DUDE. they call me the kitchen appliance killer, i think the only thing safe from me is the stove and the blender- but i’m also afraid of fire so like, i don’t go near the stove anyway lmao 🕺 but fr I really hope you feel less stressed :(
YES YES YES. I love the wars knits headcanon it’s everything to me, i’ve been tryin to find a good place to throw it in a fic. AND WARS AND LEGEND BONDING OVER CRAFTS IS JUST PEAK
DO IT. DO IT, TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY. /j SOLAR POWERED NIGHT LIGHT GLOWSTICK WARS IS EVERYTHING TO ME
ooooooh okay okay, i like it >:)
istg the ‘hero/vigilante’ type au turning sky into peoples favorites is a real thing, it happened to me writing FH9. He’s my FAVORITE character in that ENTIRE au 😭 im so excited to see what you do with him in this 👁️👁️

Oooooooh okay okay have you wrote the scene of them talking about tryin to get pregnant/it being hard for them to get pregnant if that makes sense?
I haven't! I am SO sorry! Hahaha. I've outlined quite a bit for their future, but I haven't actually done any writing for it because I wasn't sure that anyone would want me to go that far out into the future with them 🤣
BUT! Now that I know you do, I may move on to some more writing! 😉
Leeeet me see what else I can find out in the future that I do have already...
Audrey changed out of her nightgown and slipped into a pair of yoga pants and one of JJ’s cut off shirts, pulling on a pair of shoes as she walked out of their room and down the stairs where JJ was finishing up gathering his things. He would grab his surfboard from the shop on his way.
Audrey just started up the SUV and was opening the back to toss the cooler in when she felt JJ twirl her around before caging her against the car, “You are really making it hard to leave you.” Audrey laughed as JJ began a mini assault on her neck, tugging at the t-shirt of his she wore, “I’ll text ‘im, get back in bed.”
“We’re leaving, we can't go back to bed!”
“Fine, get in the backseat, I’ll make it quick.”
“JJ!” Audrey giggled as he tried to pick her up and JJ laughed with her as she kissed him softly, tugging on his lower lip. “I’ll make it up to you tonight.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhmm,” Audrey allowed her fingers to wander down his chest, toying with the tied laces of his shorts, “remember that thing we did a few weeks back? In New York?”
“You’ll have to be more specific.”
Audrey closed the distance between them, her lips latching on to his earlobe as she whispered hotly in his ear, his hands gripping her hips tightly as his brain went blank, “—In the mirror?”
“Ah,” JJ kissed her deeply, “yes—I did like that.”
“I’d say so,” Audrey patted his chest, “let’s get you into the cold ocean.”
“I don’t think even the ice of the Atlantic could take this hard on away, baby.”
Audrey let JJ drive, the blonde backing her Jeep expertly down their driveway, one hand on the wheel and the other resting comfortably on her thigh.
The wind blew soothingly through the windows as JJ took the coastal highway to the surf shack where he was meeting up with her brother. The drive took less than fifteen minutes and Audrey could see the surprise on her brother's face as JJ pulled her car into the lot.
“I thought you were meeting Sarah in a few hours at the house?”
The sun just started drifting upwards over the horizon, casting the ocean and beach in a warm glow.  “I woke up early,” Audrey slipped out of her side of the car, meeting JJ at the front after he gathered his things from the trunk, slugging his backpack over one shoulder.
“That better not be a euphemism for something.”
Audrey pushed John B’s shoulder, the younger Routledge laughing loudly as she shot him a look, “Are you ever going to let it go?”
“Never,” John B slung his arm around his sister, “you’re too easy to rile up.”
Audrey scoffed after shoving him away to accept a soft, but passionate kiss from JJ—her husband giving her ass a squeeze just to make John B gag before parting from her, “See you in a couple hours, baby.”
“Have fun!”
She couldn’t help but chuckle to herself as JJ and John B took off towards the empty beach, hooting and laughing as they did. As she climbed back into the Jeep she could hear JJ yell from a distance, “Pouge style, baby!”

Prologue
Chris and Josh layed passed out on the kitchen counters, Beth did the dishes, you cleaned the kitchen. You heard hushed laughter through the double doors that led to the main room, they were surely doing some late night pranks on each other, you rolled your eyes and continued cleaning.
"Did you see that?" Beth asked, searching for something outside.
"What?" You tore your eyes from the surface you were cleaning to watch her.
"Dad said it'd just be us this weekend." She mumbled.
"What's up Beth?"
"I think someone's out there."
You went over to the windows to see if you could find what she saw and she began trying to wake Josh.
"I can't see anything. Where did you see whatever you saw?" You asked but got no response, you turned to see her reading a note.
"I think something's happening to Hannah." She sighed, "Woah, what the fuck?"
Her eyes were on the window, you turned around and saw something running past. You both ran out of the kitchen to see everyone else running to the wide open main doors to the outside.
You quickly found out they had pranked Hannah, humiliating her, causing her to run away in embarrassment. Beth ran off after her alone, you and Sam got everyone inside. You thought the twins would be back soon, you left the door unlocked so they'd be able to get in once they did.
Chapter One
You and Chris sat beside each other on the bus, sharing earbuds, listening to the unsettling video Josh filmed and sent you. He looked out the window, staring at the breathtaking mountain and the snow falling onto the ground outside. You gently laid your head on his heavily layered shoulder. Once the video ended you put the regular music back on.
"I love you." Chris smiled.
You pulled him into a sweet kiss. "Love you too babe."
"He loves me!" Chris exclaimed, throwing his arms in the air with a big goofy smile on his face.
"Always." You rolled your eyes playfully, big smile on your face too.
"Okay, so... when we get to the lodge... what do ya wanna do?" Chris asks.
"Uhh, I dunno, it honestly feels a little weird to be going back you know?" You answer, an uneasy feeling in your gut.
"Yeah, I know. But, trust me, Josh is super siked to have everyone back this weekend. I really think this'll help." He comforts you, gently picking up your hand, giving it a loving squeeze.
"Okay, I trust you." You relent. Still feeling uneasy but pushing that feeling deep down as to not let it ruin your weekend away.
~~
"Cable car's gonna be a while hun. We should look around." Chris says, placing his bag on the bench and leading you around the back of the Cable car station.
"Hey, didn't you say Sam would be here?" You ask him, looking at the wanted poster on the side of the building
"Huh? Oh yeah, she said she'd go earlier, she went up with Jess I think." He replies, distracted by the gun he's holding.
"Where did you find that?" You jumped in surprise, staring at the gun too.
"Oh, there's a shooting range over here." He answered nonchalantly.
He walked over to it, you followed. Once you were beside him, he began shooting the makeshift targets, looking proud of himself and his aim.
"See that babe? I could protect you from all kinds of dangerous things, no sweat." Chris boasts, his big silly smile lighting his face in an ethereal manner. You pull him into your embrace and kiss him sweetly.
"Have I told you how much I love you?" You whispered, staring deeply into his love filled gaze.
"Probably but I'm not gonna tell you to stop." He smiles fondly.
"Good." You say before kissing him again
Chapter Two
You and Chris reached the lodge together, there you found everyone in the group besides Mike, Jess and Emily, the latter were probably busy fighting out in the snow whilst Mike watched so you ignored that and went to sit on the steps beside Ashley whilst Chris spoke with Josh.
You could hear them both laughing and chatting lightheartedly, the sound made you happy. Last time you'd seen Josh he was an emotional wreck, unable to talk through his sobs, seeing him so positive now helped further suppress that uneasy feeling within you. The boys stepped up the stairs towards the main door only to find the lock frozen.
"We're gonna go find another way in." Chris informs you.
You stand to kiss his cheek "I wish you luck, brave traveller." You put on a silly accent.
"Your affection, Good Sir, is all the luck I need." He kisses your hand.
~~
Everyone entered the lodge, chattering idly before Josh lent down to get a fire started, not long after, Mike and Jess enter, with Emily on their heels. As usual, a fight started almost immediately between the two girls, Josh interrupted once he got too frustrated with their petty argument. He instructed Mike and Jess to visit the cabin in the woods, Emily instructed Matt to help her find some bag she lost on the hike upto the lodge, Sam left to take a bath and Ashley to put her things in her room, leaving you and Chris alone with Josh.
You made your way towards Chris, taking off your coat and hanging it beside Chris'.
"Aww look, our coats are in love too!" Chris comments cheesily.
"Romantic." You smile at him.
"You lovebirds almost done?" Josh interrupts.
You and Chris roll your eyes at him and walk over to the frozen stiff sofas, sitting next to each other for warmth.
"So, Josh, you said no ones been up here?" You asked.
"Yup, not in a whole year. Why?" He answered.
"I'm sure you know about it but down at the base of the cable car I saw a wanted poster for somebody. Do you know if that's anything we should be worried about this weekend?" You inquired, with a lighthearted tone to cover the nerves.
"What? No I had no idea. I'm sure it's fine though, don't worry about it." He stated before turning back to the fire.
~~
Josh sent you and Chris down into the basement to look for the spirit board whilst he helped Sam with the boiler.
You both searched the old cardboard boxes for the spirit board Josh mentioned. It seems you were taking the search more seriously however.
"Woah Y/N check this out!" Chris called out from behind a shelf.
You followed his voice to where he was standing, rummaging through a cardboard box with 'costumes' written on the side in black sharpie.
"What's up?" You ask.
"Babe! Look at all this cool old junk!" He takes out a creepy mask and brings it upto his face.
"Still hot." You remarked causing him to smile beneath the mask.
"I kn-" Chris is cutoff by the sound of Sam and Josh entering the basement, chatting idly.
He quietly puts on a robe, also found in the box, and the mask. You stifle a laugh and find a costume of your own to put on, Chris leaves to continue searching for the spirit board. Once you're fully dressed, Chris has already found it and hidden it in his robe. You both begin shaking boxes as a distraction, you hear Sam and Josh discuss the noises then begin to follow them.
You snuck ahead, so that when Chris jumped out and began chasing them, you'd have a head start. Sam continues forward, slowly. Chris jumps out at Sam, making a big noise and running after her, she throws down a mat in hopes of slowing him down. That's when you join in, chasing after the duo, making Sam scream louder. Once they reach the door Sam begins banging on it, swiftly finding it locked.
A few moments of panic pass then Chris murmurs "Hey."
"What?" Sam struggles to catch her breath.
"Hey." Chris continues.
"What the hell?" Sam finishes.
You both remove your masks, laughing. "Boom. You just got punked."
Chris and Josh share a high five as Sam finally catches her breath. Josh unlocks the basement door after a bit, Chris, Josh and you start teasing Sam. Once you reach the top of the stairs you see that Ashley is waiting by the fireplace.
Chris makes some cute dumb joke, Sam leaves to finally bathe, then you go with Chris to help him set up the spirit board.
Chapter Three
Josh lights the last few candles, you sit next to Chris, giving him a sweet kiss on his cheek as Ashley sits herself in front of the board.
Chris let's Ashley ask the spirit questions. At first they are simple, silly questions, but they quickly turn serious as the spirit reveals themselves to be one of Josh's deceased sisters. Chris struggles to keep an upbeat mood, Ashley begins to panic further and Josh's face sunk, you can see regret and guilt fill his eyes.
The pointer starts moving erratically across the board, spelling 'proof' and 'library' then suddenly, the table jumps up and the spirit board and pointer fly across the room. Josh freaks out and leaves the room, Ashley scolds you and Chris, thinking you were playing another prank then leaves to find Josh.
"So, I guess we should go find that proof in the library, right?" You ask cautiously. Chris nods solemnly and leads you down to the library. Once you reach it you both look around for a few moments before a series of books are tossed from there place on the bookshelf, a button is found in their place.
"Should I push it?" You ask nervously.
"That's what buttons are for I guess..." Chris responded, a shaky tone to his typically jokey demeanour.
The bookshelf opened, revealing a hidden room, Chris entered before you got the chance to offer. Whilst you're sure it's more eagerness and curiosity, your heart flutters at the idea that he didn't want to risk you getting hurt.
"Woah Y/N, come look at this." He says, a quiet terror to his voice.
You enter the room and take the picture he's holding, examining it. Its nothing special, just a cute photo of the twins, you look at the other side.
I WILL TAKE THEM AND BLEED
THEM LIKE PIGS AND RIP THEIR
SOFT WHITE SKIN OFF! FUCKING
16 YEARS. 16 YEARS I WAITED
FOR PRETTY LITTLE
HANNAH AND BETH
...
Jesus...
Jesus fucking christ...
You feel vomit clawing it's way up your throat.
This note...
Is the most vile thing you've ever read in your life.
And...
It looks like,
it's written,
in blood.
"Hey, hey, babe..." Chris' ever soothing voice cuts through the white noise in your head.
"I feel sick." You whisper. Chris takes the photograph from you and places it back on the desk he found it on.
"I know, it's horrible." He gently holds you, running his comforting fingers through your hair.
You stay in his arms for what feels like forever. Eventually you calm down and pull away. "So uh," Your voice is cracking still, "we should show Josh that picture right?"
"Yeah, when you're ready though. I don't want to push you." He caresses your cheek.
You breathe out slowly, "I'm okay. Let's go."
The pair of you leave the tiny room, he holds your hand, and walk through a long hallway. Eventually you reach set of double doors, you open the door first only to be grabbed by someone in a weird mask and knocked out.
Chris bangs on the door after you, when it opens for him, he spots you unconscious on the floor, Ashley laying beside you, then the person in the mask knocks him unconscious.
Chapter Four
You slowly awaken, in a cold dark room, feeling your arm muscles ache. They're held above your head, hanging from a hook attached to a wooden wall. You hear soft breathing beside you and turn your head towards the sound.
Somebody hangs there, in the same position as you, you call out to them, trying to wake them. When they don't respond you try to kick them softly but they're too far away and your legs can't stretch far enough to reach them.
A few more minutes of trying to wake them pass when you hear Chris and Ashley's voices getting louder and louder, shouting your name. Eventually they enter the shed you're in.
"Chris? Ashley? We're in here!" You called out as loud as you could.
"Y/N? Baby boy I'm coming, don't worry sweetheart!" Chris exclaims, following your voice towards a large window and locked door.
The lights turn on, you see Chris and Ashley through the window and finally recognise the figure beside you to be Josh.
A weird creepy voice starts talking, Josh finally wakes up.
The voice explains that Chris will have to choose between you or Josh. The other will be sawn in half.
Josh and Ashley cry out in terror, you and Chris in desperation. The saw starts spinning. Ashley runs away from the window, not wanting to witness the bloodshed of two of her dear friends.
"I, I won't let you die Y/N, I promise baby, I promise." Chris cries, pained to betray his best friend.
He does just that. Pulling the lever in front of him causes the saw to travel towards Josh.
Closer.
Closer.
Closer.
The most gut-wrenching cry possible, coming from Josh and Chris, you feel your own tears spilling, and Josh's red, hot, metallic blood splashing onto you.
What feels like hours pass but is really just a few seconds. The screaming creases but the blade keeps spinning. The door unlocks and whips open, Chris runs to you and unties your wrists.
When you fall he holds you, when you find yourself unable to move he carries you out, when you need him he's there, always.
The chill of the winter air freezes your tears, and Josh's blood. Chris hugs you tighter as he sobs.
"They're over here." Ashley calls to someone. Matt and Emily come into view along side her.
"Jesus, is what Ash said true? Some killer is on the mountain.?" Matt asks, stunned by your appearance. All you can do is weap louder and nod slowly, which is more than Chris, who continues to hold onto you and sob.
Their words turn to white noise. The only thing you can hear is the sound of Josh's scream and his blood spluttering everywhere.
Chapter Six
You and Chris returned to the lodge to search for Sam whilst the others returned to the cable car. Chris looked around the upstairs rooms and you checked the bathroom only for everything to turn out empty.
"Hey, Chris?" You stop suddenly, "I can't imagine how bad that was, having to choose between us, but... I appreciate it babe. I really love you Chris."
"I love you too." He sighs, "Let's find Sam, yeah?"
You nod, following him downstairs into the theatre.
"Y/N, you alright?" He stops to check up on you.
"I'm a bit better. But not much." You smile solemnly, he takes your face into his hands as he kisses your nose.
"I know babe, we're gonna get the hell of this mountain and never look back I promise." Chris pauses, studying your face, he looks at you like he's just fallen in love all over again.
"We just need to find Sam then we can go?" You finish his sentence after a couple of seconds.
"Find Sam then we can go."
~~
You found yourselves in the cellar after a series of creepy noises and doors slaming. Once you calm yourselves you start looking around, finding a pink dollhouse with a weird lock on it. You think nothing of it and continue forward down the short hallway when suddenly a painting flies of the wall.
You let out a short yelp in surprise "Woah!"
"How does a painting fall of the wall like that?" Chris whispers to himself, bewildered.
You approached the spot on the wall where the painting once hung, to find a key in its place. You take it to the dollhouse and unlock it. Inside reveals seven dolls upstairs and four dolls downstairs.
The dolls upstairs are posed very deliberately, six dolls have their backs towards you whilst one faces you, without eyes. Looking closer you realise each of the dolls represent one of your group. And they are posed like your friends were in the video they filmed. The one that costed Hannah her life.
Downstairs, two dolls are sitting on the couch whilst only one was in the kitchen. A blond on the stairs. And one upstairs looks like you.
"What the hell?" You whisper.
"I know, this is real creepy." Chris answers.
"Yeah but look, that one," You point to the blond on the stairs, "is Sam. And this one," You point to the doll that looks like you, "is supposed to be me? But I was downstairs with Beth cleaning."
When you say that, the lights suddenly come to life, flickering, and things begin getting thrown off shelves. You and Chris jump in fright and, just as suddenly as they started, everything stopped.
"I'm getting sick of this now!" Chris cried, exasperated. "That's weird, let's just keep going. I want to get out of here fast as possible."
~~
After a pair effort of pushing the heavy metal door to the freezer, you both manage to get in, unfortunately it's a one way door meaning you will have to find a different way back.
Shivering, you groan "Uggh! Why they'd want to make it colder?" Regretting taking off your coat earlier.
"I don't know. Keep moving, that should heat you up a bit." He answers wrapping an arm around you to share his body heat, or maybe he just wants to be near you. "You know I'd offer my jacket if I had it." He smiles as you continue on as one.
"Aww, and they say chivalry is dead." You kiss his cheek, "I appreciate your hypothetical sacrifice."
You turn a corner and find something hanging from a meat hook. A creepy mask, and wearing what looked exactly like Sam's clothes.
"Oh my god is she..." you begin, horrified by the potential answer you'd receive.
Chris reached out to touch it, quickly discovering that is was only a creepy decoy of some kind.
After finding that, you both moved with haste. Time was potentially of the essence, Sam was definitely in danger and you could save her if you hurried, unless she was already dead, of course.
In the next room you found a chair in the middle. With some strands of blond hair poking out from behind it.
"Oh my god, Sam?" You called out, releasing yourself from Chris' arm and running towards the chair, swivelling it towards you. Sam sits in it, in only a towel, unconscious but breathing. "She's okay!" You call out to Chris, "Hey come help me ca-"
Chris' muffled screams interupt you, you turn to face him only to see the creeper in the mask from earlier has drugged him, now he lies knocked out on the floor. Then the freak tried to drug you.
Thinking quick you punch them square in the jaw, so hard they take several steps back, you have to force yourself not to apologise profusely, and to try to escape, but of course they have you cornered, and drug you before you get the chance to fully register everything that's happened. And your plunged into darkness yet again.
Chapter Seven
You awake in an extremely dark room, once again. This time chackled to a chair opposite, who you assume is, Chris, whom finds himself in the same position as you, except with one hand unchackled. In the darkness, you can barely make out a gun that lies on the table between you two.
"Chris?" You call out trying to wake him, after a few more tries he eventually comes to. When he does, the lights come on and, as dim as they are, they do help considerably.
Then you hear mechanical revving from above the both of you, looking up you see two more saws, identical to the one that killed Josh. And the voice comes back.
Chris uses his free hand to grab the gun and shoot the saws but to no avail. Then the voice explains the situation this time. Chris has to choose whether to kill himself, or you. If he refuses, you'll both die.
"Oh fuck." You whispered, letting tears fall.
"I love you. Please remember that honey, remember I love you. With everything in me." Chris smiles sadly.
"No. Chris no don't you fucking think about it. Don't you dare!" You cry as he lifts the gun to his neck.
"He said it's my choice right? Just close your eyes baby. It'll be okay. I promise it'll be okay." You shut your eyes tighter than you have ever in your life at his command.
"Please. Please just let it be me. Don't make me live in a world without you. Please Chris." You sob. Your pleas are met with one final 'I love you' then you hear the shot.
~~
The next few minutes are haunting. You can't hear anything, you don't feel anything. And you don't dare open your eyes. All of a sudden you hear a few more shots being fired and that killers evil, distorted voice taunting 'Chris'. Who is Chris? Your boyfriend? Didn't he die? What's happening?
Then you hear Sam and Mike's voices? What are they doing here? Now Sam is... beside you? Loosening whatever is binding your wrists? Now she's calling your name and placing an arm around you like she's trying to comfort you.
An argument ensues with the voices around you, Mike, Sam and, Josh? And Chris? What the hell is going on?
Mike yells something then you hear what you think is a punch and something large falling to the ground. Following after, Sam and Mike converse on the other side of the room, and Chris moves to hold you.
"Hey, hey babe, you can open your eyes. It's okay I'm here. I'm okay." Chris kisses your head softly, holding you tight. You take a few shaky breaths to calm yourself before opening your eyes.
And he's okay, he's still there. Chris didn't die.
The relief that floods you at the conformation brings more tears. You don't ask questions about what happened or why you heard Josh's voice when you felt him die beside you, you just cry into your beloveds chest because, as shitty as tonight has been, he's okay, he's still here, he didn't die.
~~
You, Chris and Mike took Josh out to the shed to tie him up until morning. Josh was rambling on about nonsense which was aggravating Mike, you and Chris trailed behind.
"Hey, I love you." You smiled, rubbing his cheek softly, "I didn't say that earlier. I was a bit stressed."
In response Chris just hugs you.
"Aww look, my best friend and the prick that almost broke my jaw!" Josh interupts angrily.
"You deserved it." Mike mumbles under his breath.
"I was scared. I had found Sam passed out half naked. You just drugged my boyfriend. Of course I was gonna punch you." You defend yourself, causing Josh to start rambling again.
Chris and Mike scold him for his disturbed actions throughout the night whilst you hang back, only occasionally joining in, one thing that still didn't make sense.
Why was the doll made to look like you sitting upstairs?
Once the group reached the shed, you remembered what grotesque horrors occurred here. Only for them to have been a facade.
In anger, Mike forced Josh to the ground and began doing, something, that was making Josh writhe in pain. Although typically you or Chris would've stepped in to make him stop, neither of you did. Your own anger halting you, plus Josh killed Jess according to Mike so you both felt he deserved some vengeance.
Honestly when Chris told you what Mike said Josh did, even though you'd been through a night of Hell at his hands, you still couldn't believe he'd actually done that to someone. No matter his reasons.
Josh denied the accusations, although none of you took him seriously, he was clearly not lucid. Even as the three of you berated him for everything he'd done, for his disturbed plan, he still defended it like it was something to be proud of.
Finally having enough, Mike grabbed him and pulled him towards a stool sat in front of a pillar but as Mike tried to tie him to it, Josh started thrashing around and eventually it took all three of you holding him down to finally tie Josh up.
Once you did Josh started rambling on again, but no-one was paying attention to him. Mike inquired on whether Chris had ever seen Josh act like this before but he hadn't.
When Josh was done with his rant he laughed creepily and started insulting you, still laughing after each sentence. Angry as you were, you didn't feel the need to defend yourself. He just looked so pathetic, you could've just threatened to punch him again and he would've shut up, but Chris really didn't take lightly to insults thrown at you.
He started to argue with Josh, who was clearly getting a kick out of tormenting the two of you, "I just can't believe you choose your pretty little boy toy over your best friend you dick! Ever heard of loyalty? That guy helped kill my sisters! But what? He's got you so cock drunk you can't think logically?! You tried to kill me for that dic-"
Chris hit a plank of wood over Josh's head so hard he was knocked unconscious.
After a momentary freak out, Mike tells you to take Chris back to the lodge before he 'beats Josh to death'. You do so but once you're out of eye shot you kiss him roughly.
"You're hot when you're angry." You whisper into the next kiss.
"You have terrible timing." He quipped making you chuckle.
The walk back was silent, your mind kept wandering back to what Josh had said, 'That guy helped kill my sisters'...
But you were in the kitchen all night. The dolls did show you upstairs, but you were in the kitchen all night. When you said that whilst inspecting the dolls, the lights flickered and shelves shook violently, like you were lying, but it wasn't a lie, you were in the kitchen all night.
Chapter Eight
"Ahhh!" A bloodcurdling scream pierces the uncomfortable silence over the three of you.
"What the hell?" Sam asked uneasily.
A few seconds later someone started banging on the door and screaming to be let in, Emily.
Chris ran to the door and opened it for her, she fell to the floor shuffling away from the door, then she screamed for him to shut it. You and Sam helped her to her feet and walked her to the couch, all the while trying to calm her and get answers.
Apparently Matt and Ashley abandoned her whilst she was hanging off the side of the fire tower, she fell into the mines, found some horrible shit, and was chased by something.
Eventually Mike came running in, immediately hugging Emily when he saw her. Then came another knock at the door.
After a quick discussion Mike and Chris walked stealthily towards the door. When you tried to join them, Chris told you to hang back to protect the girls if anything happened. But you heard the slight quiver in his voice. A few moments of hushed tension between the two pass before the bang of the door slamming open, followed shortly by loud thumping boots on the hard wood floor.
When the boys came back around the corner, they had a creepy old guy, with a few large weapons and three huge gas tanks on his back, quick on their heels, who then began to scold you all for returning to the mountain. Then after Mike mentioned the Washingtons owning the mountain, he stated that the mountain belongs to the 'Wendigo'.
Murmurs of confusion spark between your friends before the old guy continued on briefly before once again, being interrupted by the ever-argumentative Mike, who himself was shut down by Sam.
The old guy told everyone that there is a curse living in the mountains, that if anyone resorted to cannibalism on it, "the spirit of the Wendigo shall be unleashed.". Whilst everyone stared at him in disbelief or disgust he continued, not giving anyone time to question him, about needing somewhere safe to stay for the rest of the night, Sam offered the basement and the guy told you all to go down there.
"Guys... I ran off and left Josh when I heard screaming." Mike's voice was laced with regret.
"Where did you leave him?" The guy asked.
"In the shed." Mike answered.
"Oh, then your friend will already be dead." He responded ominously, matter of factly.
After hearing this, Chris' face contorts into something solemn yet unreadable. You could see the conflict in his eyes, you took his idle hand and interlinked your cold fingers with his colder ones, bringing his attention back to you. With glimmering eyes he looked into yours.
"I have to go after him." He said louder than he intended.
"What? No! No way, the guy just said he's dead!" You scolded through your teeth.
"I'm sorry babe, I have to go. If there's a tiny chance he's okay I have to try." He reasons with you.
"Please Chris, please don't. He just told us how dangerous being outside is! Please I don't want to you to risk yourself. Please baby." You plead but just as before he ignores your wishes in favour of his selflessness. You'd be angry if it were anyone but Chris, perfect, protective, selfless Chris. How could anyone angry at him?
"I'm supposed to be his best friend and I let him down." He sighed.
You lowered your head in resignation, nodding dejectedly. "Fine, just come back.".
"I plan on it, don't worry." He smiles, with a comforting lack of fear.
"Then I'll come with ye." The guy joins in.
"I don't need your h-" Chris begins
"Shut up and take him." You interrupt, "We'll wait for you downstairs. " You finish.
Everyone began towards the basement, Chris was pulled aside and spoken too by the guy. After their conversation was concluded, they walked briefly towards a side door. You followed behind, wanting to give Chris a quick kiss for luck, stopping to watch as the 'flamethrower guy', as Sam had dubbed him, handed Chris a shotgun. After another short conversation between the two, you found the perfect place to jump in.
"Hey." You called out.
"Hey." He smiled.
"Come back in one piece, okay?" You kissed him swiftly.
"I'll do my best." He assured you, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
"I trust your best." You sighed as he walked out into the unpredictable snowscape.
~~
The unsteady, suffocating silence filled with tension wore heavily in the air, making it hard to breathe. He'd be okay, he promised, you kept repeating his previous reassurances in your head, every second of agonising quiet you became more fidgety.
A series of distant gunshots stirred further unease within you, curiosity guiding you towards a glass door. More gunshots, getting closer with each one. Eventually you see Chris come, just barely, into view. Aiming the gun at something out of view and sprinting, best he can with a seemingly injured leg, towards the door your standing at.
As soon as he was at the door you threw it open allowing him to re-enter the lodge quickly, once he was in you slamed the door back shut. He hurried you away from the door and down into the basement, limping as fast as he can behind you.
Once you both reach where everyone is waiting for you both they start bombarding Chris with questions. When Sam asks about the flamethrower guy, Chris shudders as he recounts that he was killed brutally by the Wendigo.
Mike started looking for another way out but Sam argued that they should stay put, Emily agreed, mentioning that the key to the cable car was missing when she visited with Matt and Ashley. Mike thought Josh might have it on him and Emily told him the Wendigo may have taken him into the mines, with that Mike decided he'd go down to try and find him.
Then the trio start investigating the flamethrower guys belongings, discussing what they're seeing and what they've seen throughout the night.
You and Chris remained silent, off to the side. Chris held himself tightly and rocked back and forth gently. To comfort him the best you could you put one cautious hand on his back. When he didn't fight, you slowly pulled his shaking form into you. Running a gentle hand through his hair, you calmed him slightly.
"It bit you? What bit you?" Mike's questions interrupted your moment.
"The Wendigo." Emily answered, voice shaky, then she started trying to make excuses as to why it was alright but Mike was denying the possibility.
"Emily, if the Wendigo bit you, you could turn into one of those things." Mike reasons.
"Oh that's ridiculous." Sam tried to defuse Mike's argument.
"He said it was from eating each other, if it bit you..." He trailed off, trying to find the courage to finish his sentence, "You can't be down here with us." Despite protests from you, Sam and Emily, he remained steadfast in his assumption. "You gotta go.".
You thought you should involve yourself, the idea of letting a friend get left to potentially die whilst you stayed safe downstairs made you sick to your stomach, Mike could be right. There was so much you didn't know about these 'wendigo' that you couldn't really discredit Mike's concerns, because to be fair, you shared them.
How could anyone be sure this was safe? That Emily wouldn't turn and kill everyone in the room? At the same time, who in their right mind would send someone to their death based on an assumption. Whilst thinking about whether you should join in or not, your rushed to reality when Mike pulls out his revolver and points it at Emily, who screams in, rightful, terror.
"This is the safe room, Em!" Mike cries through clenched teeth and streaming tears. Everyone stares at the scene with bated breath, begging someone else will stop him, because they're not going to.
~~
Mike left. A few minutes later Sam read the flamethrower guys notebook and found out the bites weren't contagious, and some other things that prompted her to go after Mike, she wanted everyone to go with her, but worried for Chris' injury, you decided to stay behind with him so Sam left with Emily.
"How's the leg?" You asked, hating the silence, but you only got an indifferent sniffle in response. He's trying his best to stay strong, soon you find yourself wrapping him up in your loving embrace.
"His fuckin head came off..." Chris whispered, voice cracking making your heart hurt more than it was.
"I know, I'm so sorry Chris." You soothed him to the best of your ability, he tucked his head into you.
"I just, want to go home." Chris sighed sadly.
"I know baby, I know we're almost done. Just have to wait for dawn to break, then we'll get home. Kay?" You kissed his head and prayed that time would pass faster.
Chapter Ten
Emily returned to the basement alone, saying Sam climbed a cliff on her own to find Mike. She took comfort in her own corner, barely looking at you or Chris once she'd finished explaining what happened. You guessed she was still deeply upset neither of you stepped in to defend her, although in Chris' state, his abstinence was far more explainable. Your silence was a betrayal.
Almost an hour passes, a thick, hefty cloud of quiet suffocates the three of you, one in anger, one in shock, one in horror.
Faint animalistic screeches from afar and all heads whip in their direction. "Fuck..." Emily whispers, Chris whimpers into you and that's all the conformation you need. They're here.
~~
"Run!" Chris shouts when Sam opens the door.
"Go go go go go!" Emily repeats, not before shoving you aside to rush ahead of you.
"Run!" Mike orders Sam after you run past him.
"Oh shit!" Sam screams as she rushes to slam the door shut then follows everyone to the top of the stairs.
"Don't move..." Mike whispers to Sam when the Wendigo arrive.
"Don't fucking move a muscle..." He completes when, clearly, the strongest one locks its eyes on Sam.
Then two more come up the stairs, they clearly anger the main one. Causing a fight to break out between two Wendigo. One gets tossed around and ends up breaking the gas pipe in the fireplace, giving Mike an idea. The first wendigo is killed.
You're unsure of the plan Mike and Sam come up with, telepathically, everybody just knows to slowly make your way towards the open door. The second wendigo is killed.
Once Mike has made it to a light bulb, he takes advantage of the Wendigo being distracted by Sam to crush the glass in his hands. As your inching towards the door, you hear it open and know Chris escaped.
And he's okay, he's out there. Chris didn't die.
"Hey!" Sam calls out when the Wendigo starts to investigate Mike a little too closely, but you're distracted with all the relief in the universe.
Then you hear one more pair of footsteps slowly retreating then turn to sprinting out the door and you know you're next.
The wendigo decides to stare in the direction of the door, however, momentarily trapping you inside and you thank every star in the sky when Sam hides behind a pillar, her squeaky sneakers being a good enough distraction for you to make your exit.
You crash into Chris' arms as you exit the cursed building. Heart pulsing in your ears, he cradles your head into his chest.
"Fuck." Chris whispers with tremble in his voice "It's done, babe, Y/N? It's over we made it! We survived!"
The cry that escapes your throat is full of relief and pain, it's wild and free whilst tied by knowledge that you could never be the same person you were. How could a person recover from this?
Before you know it the lodge has become an inferno and Mike has been thrown out. Everyone stares.

Epilogue
So much is happening, your head is killing, people died, no one believes any of you when you blame the Wendigo, everyone has sleeping problems now.
When things get bad, you can't breathe, can't think, can't stop crying, you run through it again, a simple statement that kept you sane the whole night.
He's okay, he's still there. Chris didn't die.
You call him he's probably having as bad a time as you, but he helps you through it, and when he needs you, you're right there.
It feels nice, to have someone to talk to, who'll understand you.
You know you're not crazy, and so does he, you hold him, he smiles for you.
That's why the answer is so easy, when, years later, once scars have healed, bruses faded, he asks you to marry him.
Because only a crazy man would refuse.

Hey Moss I'm a really big fan of yours and I had a question! How do you keep yourself motivated to finish PMVs/AMVs/MAP parts/ etc.? I try to go through with an idea but I seem to get bored of it and stop within the first few scenes and I forget about it. Which is odd because I've been practicing on drawing pictures and I can go on for 7 hours straight doing it! But for animations it's like it drains me out. Also since it's summer I really want to get some projects through before school starts again because I'm not going to have the time or energy with the classes I've been assigned next year (Junior year is sooo great :D /s). But anyways I was just wondering how to have and keep motivation for animations. Thanks Moss!!!
agh im afraid im dont have v helpful advice for this cause i'm just the kind of person that likes to. Do things to completion? I prefer for things to be finished rather than perfect ^^ which is a tricky thing to train yourself to do if you're a perfectionist (and im just lucky that i'm don't feel too bothered when my projects don't turn out exactly how i imagined! and that i do feel a lil bothered if my projects aren't completed lol and thats an opposite thing im tryin to learn to be okay with)
With animation specifically for me I find actually watching through what I got can motivate me to keep working on it ! Whether its cause it looks rlly good and i get excited to see it all done, Or if its because I noticed something I need to fix and it annoys me into wanting to work on it to fix it asap lol
Sometimes it also helps me to just push through it and putting on a fun podcast/video in the background helps the time go faster..
It rlly depends on your own needs n what are your own bad vs good habits that you want to practice breaking or maintaining, so whether that means encouraging yourself to go a lil longer or taking more breaks, just try to be kind to yourself if you don't meet your goals. You can always circle back to work on smth you left behind later, or call it finished as is even if its just some sketches, or follow that sudden inspiration for a new idea while the motivation and idea is still fresh etc!

Restless. Brainstorm. Journal. 08/21/23
Im so happy and so restless in life right now
I feel the stability to push off and do great things I’ve wanted for so long and so ready to move
But my body and brain don’t realize the damage that is lingering in all the bad that’s happened
So I’m so tired and accidentally inducing symptoms again
And I know it’s not all or nothing but I don’t know what are sustainable good changes to make right now
I’m
gettin new (to me) furniture
opening up a high yield savings account
setting up hang outs
Tryin to make and sustain friendships
Vollenteering
Changing my home
And am still restless but have therapy on the 25th so hopefully I’ll be able to comb my brain out a bit more and I’ve been journaling more
I love my new job I love my friends I love my therapist I love my partner I love my cat I love my medical team I love my plans i love my hobbies I love my body i love my gender I love that I outgrew so many things I’m so grateful
I’m so happy with how life is heading and that I think we’re really getting answers for my partners chronic illnesses which will never be easy but I think all the diagnostics currently point at within the next two years they will be able to leave the house at least twice a week again they may never be healthy but thank all gods that I feel safe in the concept they won’t die realizing it very well may be Crohn’s disease has given me so much peace for their health I was lacking it being crohns won’t be easy but I also will still be able to have a full life with them and knowing their brain is okay after the mri is such a fuckin relief I was terrified of something deadly in there too it seems it’s related to their low blood pressure which makes perfect sense given every time they’ve had a seizure it’s been with movement within less than a minute of standing usually and honestly that can still have bad outcomes but it’s most likely the more common outcomes like low blood pressure related but I feel confident that it’s not deadly after realizing it’s likely crohns it feels like it’s no longer a sign their body is shutting down trying to expel itself as a toxin and they’re gonna die
The question marks are starting to fall into place without fun answers but thank all gods that the answers can still easily leave room for a fun life even if not a fun diagnosis
Gods my life is good
I’ve got so much philosophy on my mind but
It’s almost midnight so I’m gonna go beddy bie

just for reference. considering im probably gonna do it anyways. ill leave the symptoms i have here okay? to ease any nerves and prove that im not fakin or tryin to? because. i promise i dont WANT to fake. im in fact very paranoid about being told i AM faking.
sensory issues! talking along the lines of hyposensitivity/sensory seeking behaviors. im far more tolerant to loud noise and commotion than one would expect, get understimulated and zone out very easily, and constantly seek tactile sensors such as a texture i like or something to squish. however, i CAN get overstimulated. during that time, i fit more into the stereotypes. i become more touch avoidant, everything gets really loud, and sometimes things even get too bright.
communication issues! i probably fit the stereotypes about autism the most with this one. eye contact is either too much or too limited when im talking to someone, i can feel myself panicking when i dont know what to say, talking to new people is ESPECIALLY stressing, and i tend to misunderstand what someone means when they say something.
hyperverbility! aka being hyperverbal! which is basically the correct term that refers to me having an extensive vocabulary and being able to put big thoughts into words. which ive been able to do since i was just starting to read i think.
masking! half of the time i dont even realize im doing this but i am. i know this because if i wasnt id feel probably have more energy. its just something my brain subconsciously puts effort into to keep me safe at this point.
hyperfixations and special interests! ive had several hyperfixations in my life now that i know what they are. short periods of time where your brain can only focus on one specific topic. for me, these last a few weeks at most and the intensity calms down after a few days. but ive had a REALLY intense hyperfixation that only lasted a few hours but i had trouble sleeping because all i could think about was that topic. i have a few special interests which are long periods of time where interest in a topic remains about the same as when it started. for me, a good example would be pokemon! its been around 9 years and i can still name a pokemon just by their silhouette.
problems understanding things going on with myself! this ranges from being unable to tell WHY exactly i have permanent brain fog, to difficulty telling when im hungry, thirsty, tired, need to use the bathroom, etc. the most common one with myself is difficulty reacting to situations properly DUE to the constant foggy state of my mind.
stimming! stereotypical, yes. but its an easy one. my dad used to get mad at me when id flap my hands when i was younger. “people would think i was special” he said. but my weird childhood aside. i have several dialy habits ive come to realize are stims. nail biting, leg bouncing, hand flapping, head shaking, clicking things that click, chewing the inside of my mouth, cracking my fingers, swaying, etc.
I THINK. thats a good majority of it. thumbs up. HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE. IM TRYING AND I LOST TRACK OF WHAT EXACTLY I HAD DOWN MID THING.
chat. chat is anyone here going to pelt me with hammers if i self diagnose with autism after around a year of being fairly certain im autistic.

Hayloft (p.2)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Arvin Russell x F!Reader
Summary: Your dad brings home his new coworker, Arvin Russell, telling you that he’ll be living with the two of you for a while. While attempting to keep Arvin from seeing the disfunction of your relationship with your father, the two of you grow closer than you thought. (Inspired by “Hayloft” by Mother Mother, though that’ll really only be one chapter later on so I don’t know if it really counts…)
Warnings: Abuse, drunkenness, misogyny, reader’s mother is dead, decapitating a chicken, reader is kind of emotional in this chapter
Word Count: 4.2k
A/N: My first slow(er) burn fic! Let me know what you think!
Part 1
_____________________
Work had passed fairly quickly as it always did when you had the opening shift. It sure sucked having to arrive at five o’clock in the morning but at least you got off earlier and you knew that that way you could grab groceries before your father got home and could yell at you about an empty kitchen again. By two o’clock in the afternoon, you were home again, hopping out of your truck and grabbing as many bags as you could in one go.
The loud sound of metal slamming against metal shook you and you flinched, looking between your door and the frame to see Arvin walking out towards you. It hadn’t occurred to you that his car was even in your driveway. After so many years of having busted broken down old cars sitting there that your dad had been swearing he’d fix for almost ten years, cars in the driveway seemed normal. “Let me give you a hand,” he offered as he got closer, lifting the canvas bags from your hands before you could object.
“Oh!” You exclaimed as you felt the weight suddenly taken off your own arms, “Thank you.” You dove back into the truck to grab the last two bags before slamming it shut with your hips. The two of you began your stroll towards the front door, the dirt driveway kicking up around your feet. “You’re back early.” You noted, looking over at Arvin.
He shrugged, “Yeah, uh, Wallace had me on the early shift today.”
You fumbled with the bags as you tried to unlock the door, kicking it open with your toes when it finally gave in. You walked into your home and Arvin followed, closing the door behind him. “Been here long? I didn’t see you in the driveway.”
“Not too long. I just didn’t want to let myself into your home without nobody there.” Arvin set the bags on the counter next to where you set yours.
You began to unpack the bags and put the groceries in the respective places. Arvin watched off to the side, unsure of how your kitchen was organized so he was worried he’d do more than good if he stepped in. “My daddy got the late shift?”
Arvin shook his head, noticing that his beat up old hat was still on his head despite being indoors and took it off immediately, his tousled brown curls parting messily down the middle. “No, we went in at the same time. He ‘n some buddies said they was goin’ to some bar in town.”
He watched your shoulders fall a little and you sighed, “Figures…. You didn’t go?”
Again, Arvin shook his head, “No. No offense to your daddy but I don’t like to drink the way I get the feelin’ he does.”
You snorted, turning to him with a knowing chuckle, “Let’s just say that I’m sorry in advance for whatever he says or does when he gets home, if he gets home. Sheriff Pike might end up callin’ in the mornin’ tellin’ us to pick him up.” Though it was stated as a joke, Arvin could hear the tragic reality behind your words.
Arvin then noticed the pack of beer bottles that you were pulling out of the bag. As if you could feel his eyes looking at you with worried curiosity, you glanced over at him, noticing the way his eyes flicked between you and the beer in your hands. You offered a sad shrug, “I know what you’re thinkin’ but trust me. Sometimes it’s better to have him drunk and possibly content than sober and angry there’s nothing to drink. Besides, the beer is better than the hard stuff with ‘im.”
“‘M sorry. I didn’t mean to be makin’ faces. Your business is your business,” Arvin backpedalled, giving you an apologetic nod.
You shook your head, “Don’t worry. I know how it looks. I’m sorry you gotta see all of it. I been tryin’ to keep to keep him calm but if you end up stayin’ a while, I’m sure you’ll get to see him at his worse times.”
Arvin chewed his lip as he contemplated whether or not to bring up what had been going through his mind but he had to make sure you were alright. “I-I heard you ‘n your dad talkin’ last night… right after you left my room.”
Your face fell as you realized what he was talking about, “You weren’t s’posed to hear that. I’m sorry.” Shit, this was what you were hoping to avoid.
“Are you alright?”
Gentle. Caring. His tone was something that had been long lost to you in this house and it took the words out of your mouth for a moment. It was embarrassing, the way your heart welled up with… well love wasn’t quite the right word but the warmth of being cared about. Not since after your mother had passed had you heard somebody actually care about how you felt.
You just nodded and gave a forced smile that you could tell was easy to see through but it was the best you could muster. For someone who was able to take so much shit from their father and was able to look the man who would throw things at you and grab you by the hair dead in the eye with nothing but contempt, it was compassion that made you crumble. It had been so unexpected, especially from Arvin, the stranger living in your house.
“Shit, ‘m sorry! I didn’t mean to - I didn’t mean to overstep. I only…” He stammered over his words and at first you were confused until you felt the single hot tear tracing its way down your cheek.
You were quick to wipe it away, shocked at your own uncharacteristic show of vulnerability. You hadn’t realized until now that you had zoned out on the ground while Arvin’s words repeated in your head but now a flash of embarrassment ran through you. “No, no, no. I’m sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” You sniffled once before giving a small laugh of disbelief. “It’s just… It’s been a long time since anybody asked that.”
You straightened up and ran your hands through your hair, eyes closed as you thought of what else you needed to do. Thankfully, if your dad was at the bar, you had at least another four hours to just you and Arvin, all night if you were lucky, though you seldom were. That was when the feeling of dread set in. Your dad had requested chicken roast for dinner tonight and whether he came home early and only a few beers in or you had to drive him home hungover in the morning, the man would be furious if there weren’t at least reheated leftovers for him. You had to kill Patty and prep her for dinner.
“You okay?” Arvin asked again, though this time it was in reference to the way a heavy look fell over your features. It wasn’t a profound deep question like it was earlier.
Your head wavered from side to side and your lips twisted, “My daddy asked for chicken roast tonight. I gotta go out and fix Patty up.” You tried to put it lightly though it felt anything but. “I’ll be out in the coop. You’re more than welcome to clean up in the shower or do whatever you’d like ‘round the house. The radio is in the livin’ room if you wanna tune into somethin’.”
You pushed yourself off the counter and walked to the door in your kitchen that led out to the backyard but Arvin made a few steps to follow, “Is it alright if I keep you company? It don’t feel right bein’ in your house without you or your daddy here.”
You smiled at the thought of him staying with you and you nodded, continuing out the door, “Sure, c’mon.”
The hen house wasn’t very far from the back door. From there, you could see the several acres of land that your father was wasting. Your grandparents had bought this land in the late 1910’s and had started up a little farm of their own to sell locally, though your father had abandoned the farming portion after they died. It was where your daddy had grown up and then where you had as well. God, how you missed your grandparents. Your grandmother’s soft words of love and kindness but sternness and willingness to swat your butt with a wooden spoon if you got an attitude (though she would yell at your father if he ever tried to discipline you - “Now you leave that poor baby alone!”). Your grandfather had looked like a rough and angry old man from years of hard work but he had the softest heart of anyone you’d ever met. How the two of them had raised your father was beyond you.
When you approached the wired fence and jiggled the lock open, the chickens inside stood surprisingly still. They trusted you. You could see it in their little brown eyes. You were safe and warm and didn’t want to harm them. You came in for the unfertilized eggs they laid and left, oftentimes with some seed and a soft pat or two on the head. Patty, a fat white hen with black specks, walked comfortably around your feet, nuzzling her head against your leg. She was the nicest hen you’d ever had. She trusted you.
God, you were about to cry again. You bent down to pick her up and you held her against your chest, trying to look her in the eye, though it was difficult when she kept jerking it in different directions. “I can’t tell you how sorry I am,” you murmured low. Usually it was your father that would slaughter the hens if he really wanted the meat that badly. You had never done it yourself but he’d made you watch every time so that you knew how if the time ever came. Each time it made you sick to your stomach.
Already, you felt green. The unassuming hen that you had been friendly enough to for her not flip out when you held her was none the wiser that her life was about to end by your hand. You glanced over to the large wood round just ahead and the axe that was leaned up against it.
Your face contorted as you realized how much you disliked the placement. The way your father would slaughter chickens right in front of their friends made your heart break. It was barbaric.
You walked over to Arvin and held Patty out towards him, “Would you mind holdin’ onto her for a second?”
Though visibly confused, he took the chicken from your hands, drawing back when her wings fluttered out at the contact with the new strange man. Arvin watched as you walked towards the large round and tried to push it with all your might. “What’re you doin’?”
“I’m-” you grunted, feeling it slide slowly, inch by inch, “trying to move it where the other chickens can’t see.” You took another moment to use all your force against it before standing up straight and breathing heavily, “I know it sounds dumb cause they’re only chickens but it feels cruel to make ‘em watch, y’know?” You went back to pushing the round and Arvin approached behind you.
From here he could see the blood stains in the wood. It looked as if the blood had been washed off but the wood had been stained crimson regardless. There was also a divot where an axe had clearly been driven down many times over the years, chipping away at the wood.
Arvin’s heart actually warmed a little at your attempt to show mercy and your willingness to go out of your way to spare some chickens’ feelings. It wasn’t something he was sure he’d do himself but when he heard you say it, he realized you had a point. It was cruel to imprison a bunch of animals and then lead them out one by one to be slaughtered in front of everyone, each animal waiting their turn. “Here, take ‘er back. Let me.” Arvin stepped in, handing Patty back over to you and bending down to lift the round onto its side with much effort. The wood had to weigh at least a hundred pounds and had long since settled into the ground where it had been placed when you were a child.
Your eyes widened as you watched his biceps bulge, straining the material of his blue t-shirt. You’d never seen a man with muscles like that before and you found your eyes trailing along his arms, following every popping vein from the tops of his hands, up his forearms, and onto his biceps until they disappeared beneath his shirt. It was something you hadn’t expected to see in him. Arvin looked like a quiet, polite, hardworking young man but you never would have imagined the immaculate muscles he possessed. You found your mind wandering to what other surprises laid in store beneath all those layers he wo-
You needed to calm yourself down. If only he could hear your thoughts, he surely would be furious and disgusted with you. You hadn’t had such impure thoughts since that one time you had been messing around with Jimmy Bates in the backseat of his old car back in your senior year of high school. The two of you didn’t even go all the way but you went far enough and the guilt ate you alive since the two of you were never officially together anyways. He was just the cute boy from high school that you had pined over years that had finally given you the chance right before he shipped off to join the war.
“This alright?” Arvin asked, shaking you from your fantasy, and you snapped back into reality to realize he had rolled the wood round around the side of the coop behind the wooden wall, outside of the other chickens’ views.
You nodded and walked over to him, “That’s perfect. Thank you so much for doin’ that. I know it’s sorta stupid.”
Arvin shook his head, putting his hands on his hips, “If it means somethin’ to you, it ain’t stupid at all. Besides, now that you pointed it out, it was a little barbaric.”
You smiled up at him, one which he returned. How was this boy so damn nice? Was this some cosmic way of the universe finally giving you something good in your life? You’d become so calloused to your father’s harsh words and barked commands that you had forgotten how nice it was to feel cared about and validated. And you barely knew him.
“‘M glad you think so.” You looked down at Patty in your arms and any good feelings you’d had melted to sadness and fear. “You been a good girl, Patty. I know you struggled with layin’ eggs for a while but you were always a good girl. Never bit me once unlike some of them other hens.” You weren’t often very soft and vulnerable but you were about to take something’s life for the first time and you couldn’t help but feel the weight of that on your heart. If this were a life or death situation, you would feel better about it, but it wasn’t. The only reason Patty had to die was because your father would throw a fit if she didn’t.
You carried her to the log and gave her a little kiss on the top of the head, “Please don’t hate me but I understand if you do. Say hi to my momma for me, will you? Tell her I love and miss her.” You set her down and got her in the position you always saw your dad put the other chickens in before he chopped their heads off. Arvin handed you the axe with uncertainty but watched on as you struggled to bring yourself to finish the deed.
You held her down and you could tell by the way she was flailing that she was panicking now. Patty was well aware of what was happening. “I’m sorry!” You choked, tears welling up in your eyes as her panic began to turn into your own panic. How did people do this? Why was this so freaking difficult?
Tossing the axe slightly in your hand, you readjusted the handle and just as you went to swing, Arvin piped up, “I can do it.”
You looked over at him, the afternoon sun reflecting the tears in your eyes and making the color of your irises stand out in tragic beauty. “I-I- Would you really not mind?” You breathed out in relief.
Arvin stepped forward and you handed the axe out to him, “I don’t mind.” You held onto Patty until Arvin could position her just right as well. He had no idea what he was doing - he’d never had to slaughter a chicken before. He had heard that all you had to do was cut their head off though and then he’d heard the rumors of them running around like crazy even after their head hit the ground. How hard could it be?
Once he had the hen pinned down where he wanted her, he looked up to see you chewing on your thumb, brows knitted in discomfort. It wasn’t the first chicken you’d watched get slaughtered but it was far from something you enjoyed observing. Arvin signaled to you with a nod before raising the axe above his head and you shut your eyes tight, flinching at the sound of the old metal head thudding into the old wood.
**
You had the carcass sitting in the sink while you pulled off the blood soaked feathers, depositing them into the trash bin by the handful. This part was easier for you, something you’d done many times in the past. “Thank you for doin’ that. I’m sorry I’m such a baby.”
Arvin sat at the kitchen table behind you, “You ain’t a baby just cause you don’t like to kill things. I’d say it’s probably rather normal.”
The time was inching closer to four o’clock now and the sun was beginning to hang ever so slightly lower in the sky, the precursor to sunset. It was warm outside and a cool spring breeze blew in through the open window above the sink. You snickered as you pulled another handful of feathers out, “Yeah? That mean you ain’t normal?” You looked over at him with a playful glint in your eye but your smile fell when you saw an uncomfortable look cross his face, almost like he’d seen a ghost.
“I ain’t never said I liked killin’ either.” Arvin attempted to match your joking tone but it was pretty evident there was a weight behind his words.
“Hey, I‘m sorry. I was only jokin’.” A pang of guilt washed over you but it was only that. A joke. You hadn’t imagined teasing him over something like killing a chicken would set him off, especially since he volunteered to do it for you, but apparently you were wrong.
Arvin sniffed and scratched his nose, “I know.” After a moment of awkward silence, he stood, “Let me give you a hand. What do you need done?”
You scanned his face once more to make sure he was really okay but you decided to drop it when you saw his insistent look. You shook your head, “I got it. It ain’t much after I get this all gutted and cleaned.” You picked up the mostly featherless carcass by the wings and plopped it back down into the sink.
“Well ‘m sure there’s vegetables or somethin’ else that goes with it, right? Let me start cuttin’ those up.” His persistence was adorable, making your heart flutter in the most wonderful way. The idea of a man actually being helpful was unknown to you before Arvin. Your life had been filled with your dad’s drunken bossings since you were twelve years old. You couldn’t remember the last time a genuinely kind voice offered you anything more than a smile on the street, not that you took that for granted. Arvin was just different though. Noble and helpful and kind.
“You really don’t have to-”
“Yeah, you keep sayin’ that but I really do want to help. So what can I do to make things easier on you?” He took a few steps closer to you until you felt the beginning of what could have been sparks if he stepped any nearer, like when you hold two magnets a few inches apart and you can feel the energy between them, that hint of attraction, but it’s not quite close enough to pull them together.
The blush in your cheeks at his simple gesture made you break the eye contact with a nervous laugh of retreat, “Okay, fine. If you’re gonna be so insistent,” you drew out with a teasing drawl, “you can cut up veggies. There’s potatoes over there and carrots and zucchini in the fridge.”
Arvin’s lips turned up in a small smile when you finally resigned your stubborn ways and he went off to find the vegetables where you had directed him.
Needless to say, when your father came home from the bar to find you and Arvin talking over a song by the Platters playing on the radio with Arvin cleaning up the dishes while you tossed together the vegetables and the seasoning, he was less than pleased.
“What the hell is going on here?” His slurred speech made your eyes widen in fear. He was supposed to get home later like he always did. But then you found yourself chiding your irresponsibility. Why the hell would you take that chance? You knew better than to let Arvin help out and now you were gonna pay.
Arvin sensed the way you tensed up beside him and watched as you spun around to face your father with haste, “Just finishin’ up dinner now. Should be ready by six so you got more than enough time to take a sho-”
“Why the fuck is he doin’ the dishes?” You father was leaning against the wall, clearly relying on the structure for support. This wasn’t the time to test him, not with Arvin here. It was times like this when he’d start throwing stuff at you.
Before you could say anything, Arvin piped up firmly but respectfully, “I offered, sir. It’s no problem at all.”
Your dad pointed at Arvin, “A man ain’t got no place with his hands in a sink of dishes. You leave that shit to her and she’ll just grab you a beer.” He stumbled over his own feet before catching himself ungracefully.
Arvin’s jaw set tightly and you gripped the countertop with white knuckles behind you. Times like this, you weren’t even sure what to say anymore. No amount of standing up for yourself got you anywhere with him. You never made any headway with your dad’s sexist views on gender roles. It was pointless. The only thing to do was try and work your way to supporting yourself so you could get the hell out of dodge and never look back.
Arvin’s voice surprised you, “A man’s place is helpin’ out the women in his life when they need, not leavin’ ‘em to do all the housework themselves.” You nearly choked on your own tongue at his words. It was a bold statement for a man to make, especially to the head of the house that was being so gracious as to host him free of charge, but he didn’t back down. It appeared like the jab was lost on your drunken father but Arvin continued with a slightly less accusatory comment to diffuse the situation regardless, “I grew up helpin’ my grandma with all the house chores so I really don’t mind at all.”
You watched the way your dad eyed Arvin and then you before scoffing and grumbling incoherently as he shuffled his way into the living room. You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you’d been holding. “I don’t want you gettin’ kicked out ‘cause of me. You didn’t have to say nothin’.”
Arvin glared at where your father had disappeared and nodded, “Yeah, I did. You don’t deserve all the shit he gives you.”
You suddenly found yourself avoiding his eyes and twisting your lips. He was right and you were well aware of that fact. The abuse your dad put you through was uncalled for at best. The fact that Arvin had actually taken the time to not only notice the same fact but acknowledge it and stand up for you was something you never thought you’d hear someone do. It made you uncomfortable. You’d been fighting this battle by yourself for so long that letting somebody even know it was being waged was enough to make you want to sink away. Even so, a part of you wanted to let Arvin keep standing up for you. It made you feel weak after having to stand up for yourself for so long but also validated.
Your eyes flicked up to meet his for only a moment before turning back towards dinner that sat in a roasting pan on the stove, “Thank you.”

Secret Santa
Hello everyone! I’m no writer but I decided to have a crack at a fan fiction for a ship I absolutely adore. Alfendi Layton x Lucy Baker. Also I don’t own any rights to the game, or characters its purely my weird thoughts.
This fan fiction has mutual pining and teasing but is pretty tame. I’m not entirely sure how to describe this!
Secret Santa
‘Th’ Prof always uses the mug I gifted him for secret Santa. It’s a normal enough looking mug with “World’s greatest detective” printed in black ink and the inside is decorated with a flurry of magnifying glasses facing every which way. I watched him unwrap my gift for ‘im from under the Scotland yard Christmas tree about a month ago and he ‘asnt used another mug from the break room since’ Lucy thought proudly as she eyed the space allocated for making hot drinks.
“Good morning dear Lucy”
Lucy jumped in surprise of his sudden arrival and twirled to see a tired looking Alfendi sporting disheveled placid burgundy hair and 3 day old stubble across his chin.
“slept ‘ere again prof?”
“.. You know you have to fill that with water Baker?”
He gestured to the empty kettle Lucy was absent mindedly staring at. Alfendi laughed light heartedly at his assistants morning forgetfulness.
Lucy stepped aside as Alfendi began to make tea in his favourite mug. He had clearly slept in the mystery room last night she thought, yet his disheveled, unkept appearance did nothing to calm the flutters in her stomach or the increased pounding of her heart against her ribcage from his arrival to the break room.
Noticing the heat rising in her cheeks from his close proximity she snapped her attention toward the fridge to fetch a lemon slice to add to his earl grey tea Placid enjoyed each morning.
The coolness of the fridge gave her cheeks much needed relief, and Lucy gave out an audible sigh of relief.
“’ere ya are Prof”
Lucy beamed turning around. She felt a solid mass suddenly press against her entirety realising the Prof was standing right behind her.
“Sorr’ Prof”
she said stumbling back a step.
“It was entirely my fault I apologise dear Lucy. Are you okay?”
Smiling shyly placid prof tugged at the back of his neck nervously.
“It were nowt Prof, why’d you sleep at the mystery room anyways?” smiling at the nervousness she now felt. “was there some new case?”
“Not at all Lucy, I just didn’t want to get behind on paperwork. And besides my favourite mug is here at Scotland Yard. I really like it, and what it stands for”
Lucy stared at her mentor.
“I think I know who my secret Santa was”
“well you should” Smiled Lucy “been the worlds greatest detective and all that. Piece of cake for a great mind like yours”
Alfendi drank from his mug maintaining piercing eye contact with his dear Lucy.
“...And my dearest assistant, did you happen to find out the identity of your secret Santa?”
“nah Prof’ It was a crazy difficult puzzle with no instructions but it looks lik’ sum kinda box. I spent all Christmas day tryin’ to solve it. My ma and dad had a go too, and my neighbour tried but nowt”
“I wonder who would send you such a thing dear Lucy”
Lucy felt her cheeks burn from his relentless stare. She couldn't remember the last time Alfendi blinked…
“was ‘t you? Prof’”
Of course Lucy had her suspicions with him been the son of the famous Hershal Layton. A Puzzle sounded fitting. But she was a detective constable and all of Scotland Yard would of known that she would find a puzzle an entertaining gift.. Had Alfendi been staring at her this whole time? She watched his sweet amber eyes flicker to a darker, more dangerous shade of yellow.
Alfendi grinned sipping from his mug trying to guess her train of thoughts.
“You know, I’m quite good with puzzles my dear Baker. Can I possibly be of some help to you?”
Before Lucy could answer Alfendi had crossed the room to her. She had just enough time to groan as Potty Prof’s eyes met with hers. From his slightly crouched position he leant over her shoulder and whispered into her ear.
“because I am… the world greatest detective aren’t I Baker?”
“morning folks!” Dustin called glancing over at Lucy and Alfendi with a raised eyebrow “Not interrupting summat am I?”
Alfendi grinned at Dustin, his unkempt messy hair bright crimson.
“You ‘kay Lucy Love?” Dustin smiled, eyebrow still raised questioningly in Lucy’s direction.
Lucy was inches away from the grinning Potty Alfendi’s face, his unshaven dishevelled look making the break room vanish from her vision as heat rose to her cheeks. She took an inward breath, wanting to answer Dustin quickly before suspicion took hold and everyone at Scotland Yard would soon be making fun of her obvious crush on her mentor.
“um yea Dusti’ ta”
she finally managed with an altogether strange look on her face. Alfendi smelt of stale cigarettes, coffee and old books, an intresting and all together appealing combination rushing her senses.
“I’m just fine” Lucy added. Convincing herself this time.
“are you Baker? Because you look a little distracted by something, or someone perhaps?” he teased.
“then see ya Lucy love, have a good’n” Dustin stifled a laugh as he exited the break room noisily jangling his keys. “young love!” he added from half way down the corridor.
Lucy’s cheeks were hot, She could only imagine how uncomfortable she looked to Alfendi as he continued to intimidate her at her eye level.
“Baker, come with me”
He turned on his heels without looking back toward the break room certain Lucy would follow. Lucy hesitated for a split moment, deep in her own thoughts before racing to catch up with her handsome mentor. Out in the corridor, she looked left and right for Alfendi assuming he had gone to the mystery room she skipped up the corridor after him. The door to the mystery room was wide open, with no apparent inhabitant in there she knocked on the door.
“Hello? Prof? Are you here?”
her calls were met with silence but she observed on Alfendi’s desk was the still warm mug of tea, steam escaping the rim. He had to be here, She felt herself falter as she leaned inside the room knowing that it was most likely Potty Prof inside, Lucy felt the familiar heat rising to her cheeks at the thought of her Potty prof, the original Alfendi Layton. Fearless.
Lucy scanned the corridor once more before deciding to search the suspiciously silent Mystery room.
“Prof?”
Hands quickly covered her eyes as the door slammed shut behind her, heated breath brushed against the nape of her neck.
“care to guess which of your dear mentors is here with you?” Whispered Potty..
“Th’ original of course”
Silence fell once more.
“what did you call me just now” twisting to be sure he saw her lips move as she spoke. “not po…did you say original?”
“aye, I mean ya were ‘ere first wernt you? What woul you like me to call ya?”
Dazed Alfendi stared still covering Lucy’s eyes.
“...and Lucy, you aren’t scared are you? Of me I mean. Us”
He moved a hand to the side, brushing through Lucy’s golden hair. She groaned as the familiar scent of the prof fogged her consciousness for the second time that morning. ‘Get it together Lucy, he’s your boss! and this sort of thing isn’t allowed.. besides he’s just teasing. He never goes through with it, jus’ leaves me hanging. He’s all talk, that Potty’ She managed to comfort herself with her thoughts for a moment before allowing one eye to gently flutter open. He stared silently as heat rushed to her cheek turning her a shade of crimson familiar to Potty.
Alfendi gently traced the outline of her cheek with his outstretched fingers casually moving his face closer to hers before lightly brushing his thumb back and forth over her bottom lip.
“what would happen if I.. We just…..gave in Lucy?.”
Lucy stared at him in disbelief, convinced he was teasing as always she roared with hysterical laughter causing her to lose her balance and tumble forward into Alfendi.
“If I knew it was so easy to get you onto my lap Baker, I would of trapped you in the mystery room months ago”
Lucy’s eyes met with his, smiling broadly.
“I know you Prof, its all teasin’ an nowt else”
“one day I wont be able to stop myself Baker?”
Lucy was left feeling confused at the look on the now placid Prof’s face. Well placid Prof isn’t one for teasing, she thought about the living nightmare her life would become if both potty and placid decided to tease her. Shaking the thought from her head she tried to stand steadying herself on the sofa, offering both hands to the Prof she helped him regain his balance.
“Sorry abou’ falling onto you there Prof! I didn’t mean ta”
Alfendi didn’t reply, instead he stared down silently.
“wa is it?”
Her gaze fell on what had taken the Profs attention. Lucy was still holding Alfendi’s hands after helping him up.
“sorr’ Prof!”
Lucy let go of his hands instantly, retracting her arms from his direction.
“….Lu… Lucy… can you do me a favour please?”
Still looking down at his now empty hands.
“o’course Prof, anything”
Beamed Lucy, hoping by now he would of finally stopped teasing for the day.
“Can you try, to be less… perfect in my presence during work hours. I’ve found it very distracting of late” Alfendi didn’t bring his eyes to meet hers, but Lucy giggled at Pottys latest tease.
Alfendi’s hair was a placid, pale wine colour. He looked up with dull amber eyes.
“I mean it Lucy.”
A silence fell between them.
“tea prof?, how ‘bout I make us a brew! Earl grey with a lemon slice kay? Or would the othe’ trouble maker like a coffee?”
Alfendi laughed sheepishly as Lucy skipped from the mystery room toward the Scotland yard break room.
“Tea would be perfect my love”
morning turned to afternoon, and then dusk as 18:00 flashed on Lucy’s wrist watch.
“I’m ‘eading home now Prof, would you like to ride together?”
Alfendi hadn’t heard the question, or ignored his assistants declaration that she intended to leave.
“Is the mysterious puzzle in your backpack Lucy or at home?”
“s’in me backpack, I like it a whole bunch and who knows when i’ll figure it out eh?”
“May I see it Lucy? If you would kindly accept the help of your mentor”
“Sure Prof, I would love you to ‘elp me get a little further with solving the puzzle. Can I grab you some food from the take out place ‘round th’ corner” Understanding Alfendi will tackle her puzzle for a few hours at least.
“May I suggest something similar? I need to return to my apartment building this evening to take care of some household chores, and shave as i’m sure you’ve noticed I failed to remember to bring my razor with me into to work these past few days”
Alfendi ran a hand through his newly emerging beard with a disgusted curl tugging at the edge of his lips.
“we could grab some take away, and we can cycle to my apartment and I can help you with your puzzle while I take care of my chores”
“I uh.. I like it the stubbl’ I mean Prof.it suits ya somthin wicked”
Alfendi looked over at Lucy his hand frozen in the rough patch of hair now inhabiting his cheek.
“Can you confirm please, the newly emerged stubble you like?” Alfendi raised an eyebrow at Lucy.
“wel’ I guess yea.  stubbl’ or ‘least yours”
Lucy stared for a moment before realising she hadn't answered Prof’s next question.
“oh an’ take out at your place would be grand”
Alfendi didn't say a word until they reached the take out place near Scotland yard.
“what do you fancy Lucy? I mean from the take-out menu of course”
He grinned from ear to ear.
“’ello Potty, wondered if you were joining us this evening”
“Do you fancy something Italian Baker?”
“This is a chines’ restaurant silly”
He leaned into Lucy’s scarf sending his warm breath over her ear.
“I’m the something Italian silly”
“no, I don’t fancy any dam’ Italian”
“yes you do Baker”
Alfendi blew warm air over her ear and felt the gooseflesh wash over her exposed skin.
“yes you do.” he repeated.
The pair stood in silence: Alfendi grinning at her blush, Lucy pretending to be very interested in the Chinese food menu.
“now are you ready to order from the Chinese menu?”

Hi! So I was wondering if you could do a Sean Macguire x male!reader where they’re arguing because Sean unnecessarily risked his life and Sean tries to get out of the argument by saying ‘you’re cute when you’re angry’ and instead of reader getting all flustered and blushy, he gets even more pissed off and just says ‘oh fuck off’ then goes off to his tent. And a little while later Sean finds him and apologizes then promises to be careful and it just ends in fluff and sleepy cuddles before they fall asleep together.
Sorry this took so long! It's not the best, but I did what I could for the plot. Hopefully you enjoy <3
I'll work on the next request soon

Sean had once heard that, in life or death situations, time would slow down. He laughed at those stories, wondering how that could be possible. Time and time again, life continued to speed by him and the gang with no intentions of ever slowing down.
That was until he had jumped in front of you, green eyes blown wide and his mouth hanging open, a strangled gasp escaping his throat. In that moment, time truly did seem to stop as he fell back. The yelling and cheering of the final O'Driscoll fell away, along with the gunfire as he slowly brought his hand up to cover his side. It hurt, and his blood stuck to his hand, warm and sticky as he gripped his jacket and skin in an attempt to stop the bleeding and quell the rising pain.
The sound of your panicked voice was the only thing that came through the white noise and ringing in his ears, still reeling from the damage. He barely registers that, in his daze, you've managed to get a clean shot off on the man who had originally wounded him. Now laying in only your presence, he let out a breath he hadn't even realized he had been holding in, shaky and filled with discomfort. Each breath he took, no matter how small, seemed to intensify the pain in his side.
“Are you okay?” Oh, but no matter how much pain he was in, that familiar goofy smile made its way to his lips as he stares up at you.
“Aye, I am now, love,” he chuckles softly, but his hand doesn't move from its spot. With arms still shaking from the adrenaline, you crouch down to help lift him up, just into a seated position. “Ah, watch it, lad! Still not feelin' meself, as ya can see!”
“I don't wanna hear it!” It wasn't often you shot back at him like this. Sure, he was used to the snooty remarks, and maybe the comments that would act as a slap on the wrist, but the roar in your voice made him feel like a child being scolded. He expected this from Miss Grimshaw, or Hosea; maybe even Dutch on a bad day, but to hear it from his boyfriend? Well, this was certainly new.
“I had it all under control!” you continue as you hook his arm over your shoulders and lift him up, ignoring the whining that reverberated in his throat. “All you had to do was stay behind cover, and you couldn't even do that!”
“Where's the fun in hidin'?” He tries to give you a cheeky smile as you two walk over to Ennis, and he notes how you're almost reluctant to help him up and onto his saddle. “'Sides, I was just tryin' to protect ya, love.”
“Oh, shut it,” Watching you mount your own horse, the two of you trot back to camp. Silence falls and Sean notices that you won't even spare him a glance. Still, he can tell by the way your brows are furrowed that now's not the time to make small talk. One hand grips the reins as his other covers the hole in his side. Maybe he would try saying something when both of you returned to camp?
To no one's surprise, Miss Grimshaw is the first one to start hollering across camp when she sees Sean struggling to get down from Ennis and the blood that soaked his clothes. She pushes right past you, demanding the Irishman to explain himself as she leads him over to the wagon. He can barely get any words out before the older woman starts talking over him. Being practically thrown onto the small stool, Sean peers around Miss Grimshaw as he watches you hand over the loot from your expedition.
Once more, a seed of guilt is planted in the pit of his stomach, but he doesn't have long to dwell on it before Miss Grimshaw is instructing he removes his clothes so she can take a better look at his wound. He moves slow, wincing as he feels the material try to cling to his body, and the pinch and burning pain as he moves.
“Just what were you thinkin'?” she demands as she picks up a cloth and some antiseptic. To the best of his ability, Sean shrugs.
“I just wanted to protect 'im,” he responds softly, sucking air in through his teeth when he feels the sting of the cloth against his side.
“You know Y/N is more than capable of handling himself,” He nods, almost sheepishly, as he avoids her stern stare.
“I know, but...” He watches you from across the way, standing before Dutch and Hosea as you rant, no doubt about his little act. You're stomping your foot and flailing your hands, your face red and your brows furrowed. He had never seen you this mad before. “Ya don't know what it's like watchin' people shoot at someone ya love.”
“Oh, 'course I do,” He finally turns to stare at Miss Grimshaw, green eyes waiting for her to continue. “You think Dutch and I were always safe? Things escalated more times than I can count. He couldn't take his way out of everything, even if he thinks he can.”
He opens his mouth to say something, maybe ask more questions, but his mind goes blank when you finally walk over with your arms crossed over your chest. The scowl is still cemented on your face, but that doesn't stop him from putting on that old, goofy smile and sending it your way.
“Ya look cute when you're angry, Y/N!” he teases, resting his elbow on his knee so he can bend over just slightly. He had high hopes you would give him something; a smirk, playful huff, or even a roll of the eye. But the way your jaw clenched only made his heart drop. Before he knows it, your hand is lashing out and smacking his cheek, jerking his head to the side. There's a ringing in his ear, and he barely catches the mild scolding Miss Grimshaw starts to deliver to you.
“I wouldn't be so angry if you weren't such an idiot!” Your tone is clearly angry, but he can hear that slight wavering in your voice; the slightest crack that he would've missed had he not been paying attention. His mouth drops open, ready to fire back in a desperate attempt to calm you down, but you've already turned your heels and stormed away towards your tent. He's left sitting there, a deep frown on his face.
“Oh, now look at what you've done,” Miss Grimshaw sighs, her eyes trailing you. “You just can't keep your mouth shut, can you?”
“I gotta go after 'im,” He plants his hand on the stool, slowly trying to lift himself up, but the old woman is faster. She grabs his shoulder and forces him back down, a wince coming from the man.
“Oh, no you don't!” Her face is hard, brows furrowed as she glares down at him. “Now, I think you've done quite enough for one day. You just let poor Y/N simmer down before you go botherin' him.”
“But I just-”
“But nothin'! You're stayin' right here!”
Maybe he would've argued more if his side wasn't on fire, or if the woman hadn't had such a brutal grip on the base of his neck to hold him still. His eyes followed your direction, and he stared at the closed flaps of your tent. He hadn't meant to make you mad.
The rest of his medical treatment consisted of him barely listening to Miss Grimshaw's rant. Something about him being more careful the next time he's out, and how he has to be more aware of his surroundings and not make such stupid decisions. He absentmindedly just nods his head, eyes still trained on your tent. He went over the conversation you two would eventually be having repeatedly in his mind. Should he just apologize? Should he try to explain himself? Should he just try and forget it all happened and keep going on as if everything was normal? He supposed he would figure it out when he saw you.
By the time the sun slipped behind the horizon, everyone had heard about Sean's little event and nice slap he had received. Of course some of the members had poked and prodded for more information, and other teased him about what had happened. He never told them, of course. Just rolled his eyes and brushed them off. But the whiskey he was offered as a sort of “get well soon” gift was more than welcome. It helped calm his nerves for what was to come.
When the last drop of whiskey hit his tongue, he tossed the bottle to the side and bid everyone at the campfire a farewell. Some had wished him luck, expecting him to be thrown out of your tent within seconds of entering just by saying something stupid. And truth be told, that thought had entertained him for a while. He was worried he would say the wrong thing and receive another slap, only to have you throw him out seconds later.
Standing outside of your tent, he gnaws at the bottom of his lip. It was now or never, he supposed. While the alcohol still coursed through his veins and gave him that little bit of courage, he reaches out and pulls the flaps apart. You're laying down on your cot with your back towards the entrance, paying him no mind.
“Y/N? Can we talk?” he starts softly, only to be met with silence. With a soft sigh, he steps into the tent and lets the flaps close behind him. His strides over are slow, worried you'll lash out at any second. “Look, I just wanted to tell ya I'm sorry. I-”
“Like sorry makes it any better,” He finally reaches the cot, taking a seat on the edge to reach out and rest his hand on your shoulder. “You could've died, Sean!”
“Well, I'm fully aware of that...” He holds his breath, worried he'll be met with more aggression. When you don't respond, however, he decides to continue. “I just... I dunno. I guess seein' ya in trouble like that... it made me panic. I can't lose ya, Y/N.”
“So your first thought was to jump in front of a bullet?”
“My first thought was to protect you. Didn't matter what happened after.”
You slowly shift on the cot, sitting up and finally facing him. He can finally see your bloodshot eyes. Reaching out, he gently brushes his knuckles against your cheek.
“I just don't wanna lose you,” you sigh. A small creeps across his freckled face as he leans in to press his lips against yours.
“I'll try to be more careful.”
“You promise?”
“Well, best I can, love.”
He pulls you in for another kiss, this one lingering longer than the last.
“You ever do something stupid like that again, I'll kill you myself,” you murmur against his lips. He chuckles softly.
“I'd expect ya to, lad,” You help him slowly lay down on the cot next to you, letting his head rest against your chest as you ran your fingers through dirty red locks. He's softly complaining about the ache in his side, and you just remind him it's what he deserves after making such a stupid decision. Still, he gives you a smile as he promises to not pull another stunt like that again.
