more me verbally processing my feelings on this game and it's story that i sent in discord but i know reading these things can be helpful to others processing so im sharing them here <3
even though i think i personally am able to find coherent meaning in solas's ending, specifically the status of the veil, and i do think its good and i like it, i really have to work to do it. the way its written is kind of confusing because the message is like ok. let go of your regrets. but you also have to atone for your mistakes. but solas believes he is atoning by taking the veil back down and bringing immortality back and making sure more spirits are not turned into demons? but the story tells us that version of atonement is Wrong, but why is it wrong? because people will die? but people also die because of the veil? mages are mass incarcerated and lobotimized bc of the veil, elves have been enslaved for millenia, PEOPLE AGE AND DIE, BECAUSE OF THE VEIL? so he isnt supposed to atone for that mistake by fixing it he's just supposed to accept it and let go? so are we supposed to atone for our mistakes or not? what determines whether or not we need to atone? he has to atone for what he did to the titans but not what he did by accident to his own people i guess? and he is going to atone by maintaining the status quo that he created because people have gotten used to it?
i think the answer based on the regret prison scene with rook escaping with varric's help and that banger line of varric's is to take accountability and own up to your choices, they are yours and no one can take them from you. rook says something to one of the regret statues (for me it was harding) thats like "i made a choice and so did you and you knew the risks" or something so i think that is the key. solas cannot accept his choices and so he is desperate to undo them no matter what kind of harm it may do. he is trapped in regret and the past to the point that he cant accept them and move forward, and varric is the perfect contrast of this with how readily he accepts his death as a consequence of his love and hope for his friend. even mythal accepts her own choices when she tells solas that she turned him from his purpose. and she doesnt apologize or even express regret at all, partly because shes a crazy bitch (affectionate) but partly because i think her quiet, cold acceptance is part of the lesson solas needs to learn in that moment. solas is constantly saying, "im sorry, but", "ir abelas, vhenan, but i cannot". mythal just states her actions plainly; i forced you to take a body, i brought you into war, these burdens are ours to bear together, i release you. no apology, no rumination, she is at peace with her decision even though it is wrong. i think this works wonderfully on a personal individual level of personal regrets. it is a good lesson; regret does not serve any purpose other than to hurt you. it brings no one back, it helps nothing, it does not make the world a better place. solas has to let go of his regrets so that he can become the hero that varric sees deep down in him. it is an essential part of his personal journey as a character... but it gets stickier when we are talking about systemic change. obvi a lot of dragon age's modern, young audience is very much in favor of "tear it all down!!" and i am too but i think with solas they are trying to tell a very personal and individual story of a man and his regrets rather than make a social commentary on radical change, but they also dont make that clear enough, so the two get muddied together when it comes to the question of the veil in a way that feels like they are advocating for maintaining the status quo, which i dont think was their intention.
i think this is so muddied because inquisition very much makes clear commentary on systems and institutions with the chantry, the orlesian empire, ferelden monarchy, mages and templars, and the inquisition itself being all vulnerable to corruption, and solas has a lot to say about all of this and he is very much presented as being right (like when he tells you about the corruption in your own ranks in trespasser and how hes spying on you lol) and then veilguard does not do this AT ALL, all of the issues are very personal ones of people and their identity, people and their family, people and their regrets etc. so i think a lot of us are in this mindset from inquisition of like.... yeah disrupt the status quo install a puppetmaster elf to rule an imperialist empire, make leliana pope and radicalize the chantry even if its bloody, dissolve the inquisition, abolish the circles etc. etc. and the question of the veil is very much an extension of these philosophical questions about systems and organizations. and for those of us who leaned towards dissolution of all of those corrupt structures, dissolution of the veil is the logical conclusion to a story thats sending us that message. but then veilguard just. does not even engage with these topics at all. like its not even a question. it takes the question of the veil and translates it into a personal issue of solas's psyche (which is super interesting, just different) and connects it to his past actions, his relationship with mythal, and his perception of himself, rather than a macro-level question of what is best for the world when pursuing change, and the answer for solas on a personal level ends up being different from the answer that inquisition was asking us, but it feels disjointed as a result.
so the veil staying up was the right decision because it forced solas to let go of his regrets and the game is about him. so it was an exercise in his therapy session with his two ex-gfs and some annoying kid who wont leave him alone. but the problem is it doesn't answer or engage with the greater questions and themes about systemic change that the series has been building up to.
veilguard is interesting because it wants to be dragon age 2 so bad while simultaneously being terrified of dragon age 2. solas bringing down the veil would have been the answer to the question that anders blowing up the chantry asked, but veilguard decided to ask a completely different question instead. and i think it did a good job in that specific goal, but it doesnt satisfy 15 years of build up and instead just throws it out the window in favor of something else.

"bioware's doing the best they can" "they have to trim the fat SOMEWHERE" "they have to move on from the previous games EVENTUALLY" "they ALWAYS have disregarded things from past games" guys........... (ramblings under the cut)
my man on earth....... morrigan is literally claimed By The Devs to be a prevalent character in datv and ur telling me NOTHING that happned to her is worth putting into the background of datv?
you can claim bioware is just doing their job and have all the excuses in the world for them but when u get down to it.... they really just didnt want to deal with anything from the past three games... they didnt want to put the work in to add even CODEXES (one the the easiest cheapest forms of implementing background lore) to this game... the literal game director barely even knows who ZEVRAN is (a MAIN CHARACTER from the FIRST of the series) because they didnt bother going back to replay or research dragon age as a series beyond dai... like... i understand the devs wanting to simplify their jobs and i actually totally agree, they needed to get rid of the keep, that was too much info for them to keep up with.
But they cut back SO MUCH, like an unnecessary amount. Three? THREE choices? AND ALL OF THEM ARE SOMEHOW RELATED TO SOLAS? NOTHING the inquisitor did was notable beyond their relationship to Solas? Nothing??
people are using leliana as an example of something bioware has retconned before because shes alive regardless of if u killed her in dao or not. except the problem with that is that the games DOES address the fact that she's supposed to be dead. like it very much does that??? hello?? id rather they bring her back and address it than just totally retcon it and never explain it
this is such a horrible, disrespectful decision on bioware's part and making excuses for them is WILD. like. the devs are fine i promise u. stopppp telling people to **touch grass** and **take some deep breaths** after I myself have invested over half my life into playing these games just to get slapped with "lol actually none of that matters now hehe" jfc
like i understand fandom can get a lil crazy but im telling u this isnt an overreaction lmao let people be upset about things that theyve poured their lives into for 15+ years
im still buying the game, im still playing it, ill still love it, but MAN this has kind of totally ruined my trust in the devs and im back to being nervous about how they will address things in this game and beyond because it really feels like a big fuck u to long time fans and idk how they wouldnt think it would be perceived as such.
#i swear to GOD if i see one more person say “chill out guys! take a breath! its no biggy!” im gonna eat a ball of dried glue#“but alyssa this game is set in the north! what happens in the south doesnt matter AT ALL!”#do u understand how to world works my man? dost thou have a brain my good brother?#such a weak excuse im sorry#bleh im gonna go offline and be sad about this for a bit#i was gonna replay dai but now that none of that matters.... i dont see why i would lmao#dragon age#datv

It all started in 2022 when my girlfriend used pictures of qunari pectorals to shamelessly tempt me into being interested in dragon age. I’ve never been into rpg on console. I like racing games and shooters. Stuff like that. But in my defense…. The Arishok.
She convinced me to watch her play. And I did. All of it. She began with dragon age origins. A completionist, She played it all, recording it for me in 30 minute increments which I consumed with growing interest. Every game. The dlc. Every quest. No chest was left unlooted (giggity). I’m sure I saw more in the last two years than yall will ever see here thybyht.
And boy did I consume it. I fell in love with every character. I fell in love with her ocs. I fell more in love with her for giving me this wonderful little piece of her head. It felt like a very special gift. And I gobbled it up.
And naturally, being me, I crafted my own ocs inside my head that were there too. Developed my own ideas of what I would do. My considerations of the actions I would take. The choices I would make. I became very invested.
They dropped the veilguard trailer and it was a new experience for us I think. She has loved this game for so long. I have never played it. But we were both squealing with excitement and buzzing about what we think will happen.
And then the playthrough aired. The one where we see Varric lose his Bianca and here I am having never played and yet my heart still hurt with worry for this little fictional man.
And so the itch began. The desire to make those choices for myself. To see Thedas being shaped because of my actions.
I have been sucked in.
On June 30th 2024, in a discord call with my gf, I downloaded origins and began my first playthrough. There will be some catching up posts of how I felt and the choices I made and then once I’m caught up I’m going to consider this my online da diary lol.
There has already been shenanigans and NOTHING IS GOING THE WAY I THOUGHT IT WOULD AND IM SO EXCITED TO PLAY EVERY DAY.
It's a juxtaposition. I know what is going to happen. I know the story. I’m already spoiled. But this is still very much my first playthrough of these games. So if I post old news or theories I apologize ynynyh. But I figured I’d share my joy and idiocy with the world. And I thank you old dragon age veterans for putting up with newbies like me.
Also my girl. Thank you Leah for giving this old gay a new world to become a part of. As always I’m dragging your ass with me uwu.

copying @gallusneves with this kind of poll hehe :3
please feel free to do it too !! and tag me!! i wanna vote :D
@aeducanthaig @roseeway im only tagging you two because i'm a fag and i want you to see it. actually i don't think red has played any of these so red you're picking based on vibes. i will outline the vibes.
yrliet: you and me against the world, soulmates, completely different cultures of two people who were raised to hate each other finding solace and understanding in one another, asexual romance with a spiritual mental connection through meditation and the climax of the romance is hand holding, i have literally never been touched by or changed by a character as much as yrliet
gale: scholar with huge ego finds you promising and likes to teach you but complains about other students, grand gestures and grand displays of affection and love, would grant you godhood if you asked, would give you everything you have ever wanted if you only asked, intense low self worth and your love helps him heal... also if you become a mindflayer he is disgustingly down bad he's a freak. also hes so bad at flirting he will say hes horny in front of all ur friends while ur covered in blood and guts cuz he thinks u killing shit is hot. freak. also he proposes to you and hes totally cool with u saying no
sera: chaos gf who just wants to have fun and enjoy herself who wants things to be simple and easy to understand, while i hc everyone as autistic she's The Most autistic, shes a lesbian, she woofs at hot women, she had cookies ruined for her and she says she wants to make cookies a thing between you both 'us cookies' so she can like them again, she proposes to you and is so excited to be your wife, she throws bees at people, she beats the shit out of rich people, she is so sweet and is a MASSIVE inspiration for afhiri i won't lie
samara: very very similar to yrliet in a lot of ways, milf, says shes past the point in her life where she can love that her duty demands she not be distracted by it that she is too old to do this again blah blah a billion excuses but she clearly likes you!!, when you help her finish her duty and do as she has always wanted she finally feels like maybe she can be with you now and try it
there u go red i hope this helps. null if u think i described someone poorly i am so sorry i rushed
#fray.txt#I KNOW SAMARA ISNT A FULL ROMANCE BUT IT DOESNT MATTER TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!#i thought about adding alistair but changed my mind#i love him a lot but i havent been mentally ill over him in a long time#i feel like gale is gonna dominate this. alas

I know that the baby dragon (roger garp coparents) comics are so silly and fun and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM but i was trying to remember all the characters in the crowd in the live action (im only in dressrosa in the anime) and then i thought too much about about your comics and now im SAD!!!
Garp and Roger at the very least being friends and co parents and Garp essentially KILLING HIM in front of DRAGON. Like roger may or may not be his bio dad but thats his PIRATE dad (a la shanks) and that being the dissolution of their family unit. Also fem!croc (possibly) being in the crowd???? Maybe they meet again there. Do you think roger looked at their "son" when he died? Do you think garp couldn't look at him?? And then for garp to stand there on an execution platform with ace???? His friends kid?? His grandson???? But this time instead of standing silently like dragon did, luffy refused to save himself.
And rayleigh, RAYLEIGH couldnt be there in his best friends final moments, couldnt be there for dragon, his nephew/godson/whatever. But finally he was able to help luffy after marineford. Finally he could help his family after so many years, even if luffy didnt know.
Anyways, love your comics and art, its all very fun and cute, even if the implications get me.
Also i guess this wasnt really a question, but i wanted you to know what you inspired in my brain and kinda get your thoughts!
I’m always happy to know that my silly comics get you to think! I do enjoy drawing fun stuff but as you said, most of them have more serious or angsty implications if you do continue spinning the universe a bit.
Like with the Baby on Board comics (the coparenting one) I imagine that even though Roger and Dagon’s relationship starts out easy and light-hearted, there eventually must be a moment where Dragon no longer feels welcome among the Roger Pirates (most likely when he joins the marines at a young age). I can imagine that Garp and Roger both (not very gently) teaching him that choices have consequences – he chose the path of the marine, which means that pirates like Roger will now be his enemy. And Garp is, his situationship with Roger aside, kind of hard-headed about his sense of justice.
Still, in an AU where he spent a portion of his childhood on Roger’s ship, he’d be upset about watching the execution, whether Garp is up there on the execution platform with Roger as in the live action or not. Maybe Dragon has to endure this without having gotten any closure with a man who had once claimed him as a son. And Rayleigh isn’t there to offer comfort or platitudes. Shanks and Buggy are too caught up in their own emotions to spare any thoughts on the feelings of a guy who occasionally looked after them.
I don’t know if it’s a spoiler to you, but we do know that Crocodile was for sure at the execution in the manga/ anime. So at least Dragon wouldn’t be entirely alone. I don’t know exactly which of my AUs the Baby on Board comics apply to (most of them?) but in some of the AUs this would certainly be a moment where Dragon and Crocodile meet/ see each other again/ enjoy a night together, toasting to the old era and welcoming a new one in their own way ;3
So if Dragon wants to drink his complicated feelings away, there’s someone there to do it with, even though I doubt he’d tell Crocodile that he knew the man who died today as more than just the King of Pirates.
And yes, of course I also like the idea of just how the Baby on Board concept would weave the threads of these people even closer together.

i'm still holding off final judgement until the gameplay today, but seeing some stills on twitter kind of helped me solidify what i found so off-putting about the style in the companion trailer
although before i post those, a few counter arguments because i'm already tired of ppl bashing the ppl who aren't vibing with it, and my head is clear enough to put these thoughts down:
"cinematic trailers rarely look like the actual game" - true to a point. however: 1) typically cinematic trailers strive to look like a higher definition version of the game, which seems to be the opposite here. in the case of DAO and DA2, i would say the cinematic trailers actually strived for more realism, not stylization, as that was the trend at the time. 2) this is a cinematic trailer, but it is also done in the game engine so it's not unreasonable to assume that the end product is gonna look somewhat similar 3) this was supposed to be their best foot forward so suddenly going "don't worry, it's gonna look better in-game" is just a bad marketing move. it's not on the audience to give this company the benefit of the doubt (particularly in light of all the shit that has gone down there in the past decade)
"not everything has to be super realistic!" - agreed! not liking elements of this particular style doesn't mean i'm opposed to stylization in DA at all. i think DA2 is much more stylized than DAO, and not only does it look nicer, it looks more distinctly dragon age. DAO visually is also very generic, especially for its time. i still love the almost painterly look of DA2, even all these years later
and i think DAI has issues with the character models, especially the uncanny valley disconnect between the really stiff animations and realistic faces (having played it within the past year, they've aged pretty roughly), but in terms of environment and armor and whatnot, it did build off the style presented in DA2 in a way that effectively modernized it for that era. it did go for a more realistic look, but it was cohesive and still distinctly dragon age
"people reacted like this to DA2 and DAI's trailers too" - no, they did not, lmao. DA2's trailers were the reverse--they looked more realistic than the actual game. now there was some backlash against the stylistic choice in the actual game. i remember david gaider talking about it in a panel at dragon con in 2012--apparently ppl were upset that the companions looked like they were made with cosplayers in mind, which i thought was an interesting criticism. but no, the trailers did not get this sort of response.
and DAI's trailers used a lot of in-game footage, and the cinematic ones were both pretty accurate to the game and well-received by the audience. DAI's marketing was also absolutely bonkers and nonstop for like 9 months before the game was released, which in hindsight i think was way too much, but in terms of visuals, we knew exactly what we were getting.
"you guys just think anything with a style to it looks like fortnite" - lmao, okay, yeah, describing it as fornite is probably unfair and inaccurate, but i know for me, i kind of use it as a shorthand to reflect my general dissatisfaction with the way so many 3D styles (in both games and movies) just have this bland, cartoonish look to them. the pixar-ification of everything. i just don't like it.
and the logo with the bright purple and overly smooth text doesn't really help here either. i think a less saturated and darker purple paired with a grungier font would also help in making this feel like less like fornite season 3458345: dragon age avengers.
plus it was originally gonna be a live service game and i think that it still has some of that dna artistically
SO ANYWAY
these stills, which i think are also in-game engine but im not entirely sure if they're from cinematics, gameplay, or just renders but they seem to be in-line with the trailer:
and seeing emmrich and to a lesser extent neve in these pics solidified why the stylization didn't work for me on a visual level (never mind it being paired with the light-hearted planning-for-a-silly-little-heist vibes)
so when i first saw the trailer, and i saw varric, i was like "nice"
he looked like a higher definition, older version of a DA2/DAI hybrid of his model. he looked really good. i thought harding looked good, too. it did take me a minute to realize who she was, but it really wouldn't be a DA trailer if we weren't left wondering who tf a returning character was lmao (remember the confusion over alistair's appearance in one of the DAI trailers? this is actually tradition now)
but as the trailer goes on, the style doesn't even stay consistent--it just gets progressively more cartoonish right up to emmrich, which is the exact moment that made me go WHAT
he looks like a cartoon character. the hard lines in his face, the stiffness of his hair, his overall proportions--he looks like he should be a villain in a pixar movie. like i'm digging his overall vibe and as a concept of a character design, i love it. but this execution of it next to fellow old wrinkled man varric looks so off
and then we go right into davrin who is beautifully rendered and designed--he doesn't look out of place next to varric or harding
some characters have the soft, wispy hair while others have hair that looks like a hard shell with lines carve into it. some characters have finely detailed wrinkles while others have thick, cartoonish ones. some characters have realistic proportions while others have more exaggerated features.
stylization is only effective when it's purposeful and consistent, and from what i've seen so far, it's not. it's all over the place.
so there's my thesis about why i dont like the art direction in the trailer lmao
and like i've been saying since it dropped, i am reserving full judgment for the gameplay reveal, but based on the other stuff bioware has teased, i'm not expecting this aspect to change too much. i've seen other ppl who were on the fan council thing say the tone in the game is more in-line with the tone in the other games, so maybe that'll help smooth out this disconnect

Do you have a list of favorite video game characters you have romanced over the years?
yes 😭 i love talking about all my game husbands 😭 thanks for asking 😭
in no particular order..
zevran dragon age - my beautiful insane husband, i love how he starts out very flirty and confident and then slowly reveals his inner depth, the unexpected softness after you give him gifts, i love when characters have a facade you have to dig through to get to the real them 😭 can’t think about him for too long or i will start screaming
gale bg3 - i don’t need to say exactly why i love gale, im sure everyone who follows me already knows and loves him for the same reasons as me but his earnestness, his big ambitions, his love for knowledge and sharing knowledge make me feel like a feral rabid raccoon i know you know what i mean
thanatos hades - my favorite kind of man is one who has been numb to the world for his whole life until he finds a chance to warm up and be loved, i eat it up every time. unfortunately if i start talking too much about thanatos ill end up throwing my phone across the room and won’t be able to finish this post
kaidan mass effect - my beloved kaidan, he felt to me like a grounding and stable person amidst the chaos of mass effect, very principled and certain and confident in himself, and so sweet 😭 i have a soft spot for him always since writing him got me out of a 6 year writing pause 😭 loml
honorable mention: johnny silverhand cyberpunk2077 - while not technically a romance, i felt like his character was so intertwined literally and metaphorically with the player character that i saw it as a romance lol he is wild, he is full of hate, he is selfish and miserable, and by the end he’s ready to give up everything to save you 😭 fucking hell 😭
#video game guys#i guess i need a tag lol i talk about them a lot#this was fun thank you bestie!!#not gonna read too deeply into my choices at all#inbox

initial veilguard thoughts under cut
biiiiiig momma SPOILERS
it's complicated!!!!
the thing is, i enjoyed myself playing it, ya know? i had fun discovering the world of northern thedas. seeing tevinter, rivain, antiva. i enjoyed getting to experience a different side of thedas than we have the last three games.
ill need another playthrough to fully get it, i feel like i need to make different choices to see just how much choice matters in this game. i feel like i got the "good" ending with relative ease.
this game felt like it was holding my hand through it, trying to warn me that i'm about to have to make a choice. a choice? in a dragon age game? well will there be consequences?? will you tell me explicitly what those consequences will be so i don't accidentally make the wrong choice in this role playing game where i'm roleplaying a character? like i get it... but running in blind and discovering the outcomes is half the fun.
i like rook. voiced protags always have a sort of "them"-ness that has to underlie everything regardless of dialogue choices. i think rook suffers that more than other protags in the series, but like i said, i like them, so that was fine for me.
hated the varric twist. hated it. hated it down. varric was mostly nothing the whole game anyway. unless i missed something major, he only had like a couple cut scenes. he felt ornery anyway, so idon't feel like the twist is justified by some big role he played in rook's story. very clearly they were relying on the players already existing love for the character. which works on me a little!!!!!!!! in the moment!!!!!!! but ill cry to almost anything with a moving musical motif transfixed behind it. might have been an interesting twist if he turned out to be a spirit that watched varric and took his shape or something. i don't know, man... just - anything - other than the "and he was dead the whole time" dead horse.
combat in a dragon age game fun confirmed????? that being said, it got boring after a while and as usual some fights overstay their welcome. also a two companion party???? when so much approval is dependent on bringing them with you, and with party composition being as important as it is in higher level difficulties, that was a bummer. i enjoyed the difficulty of combat but i felt like i couldn't keep it high or else i would lose out on content with companions.
speaking of companions, i liked them for the most part! unfortunately a lot of them felt 1 note as did a lot of their content. i didn't feel like i learned very much about them outside of what the moral of their story was supposed to be.
character quests... i liked hardings, i liked davrins, i liked emmerichs and that's it. i wanted to like bellara's, i felt like there was so much potential. how is a storyline about a forgotten one boring???
i saved minrathous so lucanis was hardened. ill have to do another playthrough, but i feel like i missed out on a lot of lucanis' character because of that, which i don't like. i don't mind if it affects the characters relationship to me (ability limitations, character approval penalty, cuts off romance option), but i got no bonding scenes with him, no interactions with spite. i had to drag his speeding ass along every adventure just to keep his approval up, and even then, at the end of the game i still feel like i barely knew the guy. i never got the chance!
i have more thoughts but this actually got more negative than i wanted so im gonna stop. like i said, i had fun. i hope if anything it breathes new life into the fandom and franchise. i will enjoy making rook and co content soooo much i know it im just waiting for my tablet to charge so i can share her with you. okay thanks if you read this far bye

I was thinking a few days back about how most of the Dragon Age female elves are coded as neurodivergent across the board. Vellanna, Merril, Sera, and now Bellara are all very much working with that "Im too quirky and don't know how to people" vibe. And as someone who made their Inquisitor autistic and has ADHD themselves, I definitely enjoy a character on the spectrum. I just can't help but feel the trend is kind of over used, and seems to fixate a little too hard on the socially inept trope. For one, it feels a little infantilizing when it's practically every elven woman you can recruit. And as far as representation goes, it also feels like it lacks nuance. It's a spectrum. Neurodivergent girls deal with the social side of it very differently than boys. Many autistic girls are great at masking socially, and don't bumble about like new born deer unsure of how to talk to their peers. Not all. But many. How they feel about it is different than how they present.
I will give them credit for letting Velanna and Sera be unapologetically abrasive in their social skills. But still. If you look at the trend it's "abrasive autistic with no boundaries" in one game then "naive autistic who's a quirky nerd" in the next alternating.
And idk. It just feels off to me. There's been a lot of rumblings about Lucanis potentially being on the spectrum, and Kirby validated people choosing to perceive him that way. And I can't help but feel like that's something I would like to see for some of the women? A character who is respected by their peers in their field and manages to make it through daily life without "im a manic pixie dream girl" hovering over their head in neon lights. It's a part of them, but not the only thing people see.
That being said, individually, I love each of the female characters I'm kind of bashing in this post. My problem is not with them as characters. It's the weird and kind of infantalizing trope that I'm just now noticing. Also, I am aware they are not canonically autistic. But they are to me. So next question.

do you think falin went on dates/potentially even hooked up with people periodically during those 4 years she and marcille were separated? i know you ascribe to has-been-pining-since-childhood falin (and tbh so do i), but i find it interesting that there were at least Two people interested in falin if we are to believe chilchuck's party relations chart. at the very least, she considered toshiro's proposal -- even if her intentions for doing so were rooted less in mutual interest and more in her fear of being alone -- and it makes me wonder if anyone else were to like... show interest in falin, what would the circumstances have to be for her to be an active participant/if she would've reciprocated if it was casual enough (because i can't see her getting into a serious relationship with anyone while she's still in love with marcille -- unless?)
i could see it going either way. girl who can't believe people could actually LIKE her that way because she struggles with liking herself (despite probably being the most beloved character in canon, though her ostracization in her hometown and the magic academy could explain why...... wait hold on i'M GETTING SIDETRACKED!!) vs. girl's first time being freed from an authority's expectations going a little wild at, well, a taste of freedom (plus a dose of delayed sexual awakening due to prior ostracization + "don't think of marcille like that don't think of marcille like that doN'T. DO NOT." double whammy)
idk idk idk! i find it SO interesting that she's so beloved in canon but is simultaneously very passive about it? i really love how a little creature explores what a more proactive falin could look like, and i'm super curious about your thoughts on what falin's love life would look like/if a love life would even exist decoupled from her newfound dragon instincts and marcille
honestly this is the one aspect im never sure about bc... i've seen other people establish that falin's gone and kissed or gotten involved with some of the other girls at the academy, or other adventurers. and i respect that! mostly bc it's a way of painting falin as more independent and mature than the canon material, and i can't knock that.
but i guess? idk. she was as clueless about shuro's feelings as laios was until he actually proposed to her. she also believed that she wouldn't get another proposal, so there's an element of her not realizing that she's particularly attractive. that, or she's... still somehow working by her hometown logic, which im assuming is the old "if you're not married by your teenage years you're considered a really bad marriage candidate for men" type thing, considering how much of a small town it was/the fact that she and laios already had marriages arranged from a young age.
an intensely auDHD woman, who has spent all of her independent life focusing on at least one person she was inseparably close to, not having had any romantic experience at the age of 23? that's very likely. personally i'd consider it more likely than the alternatives, but that's just my opinion lol
#asks#falin touden#dungeon meshi#i didn't articulate this super super well but#idk#i can see her having kissed other people#but relationships? sex? nah#not unless she was pressured into it which... considering her personality... is not pleasant to think about so im just gonna ignore all tha#but yeah i know a ton of people who havent had romantic experience into their mid or late twenties#mostly bc they just never found the opportunity to nor took the time to pursue it seriously on their own#its really not that uncommon or weird#marcilleposting

1. how did you first find out about agere in general?
2. how did u first find out that you were a regressor?
4. does your music taste change when you’re regressed? if so, how?
5. which fictional characters do you most relate to (or kin) when you’re little? do you still relate to them when you’re not regressed?
7. what most often makes you regress?
12. what’s something typically associated with agere (pacis, babbling, bluey, etc) that you don’t do?
16. what’s a niche or unpopular interest you associate with your regression?
18. which (if any) fictional characters do you think would be littles?
20. what’s something you wish you knew about agere when you first found out about it?
A WHOLE Bunch of them! I LOVE learning!!!
YAAAAY A BUNCH!!
1 from looking up kidcore on tumblr as a teen! i went from just appreciating the aesthetic to wanting to actually age regress pretty fast
2 i guess the above kind of answers that xD but it helps i actually had a friend in high school who was also a regressor! we had a lot of fun in sleepovers
4 ACOUSTICSSSS i Love acoustics when im regressed, and anything calm and lullaby sounding. piano, guitar, and music boxes r very soothing to me ^w^
5 hmm that kind of depends on which wishy is out! as eevee wishy... well, eevee xD and the others r fairly self explanatory (basil is headspace basil, puppyboy is a puppy or tails the fox, anime girl wishy is any cute young anime girl) i guess just bc agere and being childlike is very Intrinsic to the wishy
7 music! its my biggest regression trigger
12 specifically deco pacies -w- id be afraid to break them! and also babbling, i talk a little different but not straight up babbling
16 dragon ball z!!! cuz i watched it as a bio little kid so its very nostalgic to me, i love thinking of dbz characters as my caregivers
18 outside of my and my systems kins.. i would say glamrock chica, kokomi genshin, silver the hedgehog, and i know i headcanon trunks as my caregiver but i think he would also be a flip and regress to like 8 or 9! as a way to sort of get the calm, peaceful childhood he never got to have (future trunks ofc, i dont think present timeline trunks would actually be much of a regressor) he'd still be caregiving a little bit when regressed but thats cuz hes like my big brother then ^w^
20 that kinky people Arent Evil and in fact we can all hold paws and be niceys so long as we're respectful to each other and dont push boundaries! i am holding paws with all my kinky little mutuals

i love your metas and your thoughts on dragon age lore so i'm happy you turned anon on! my question is did you get the secret ending? if you did what did you think of it?
omg this is so sweet.... yapping about my dragon age lore thoughts is literally my dream so im so glad people enjoy listening LMAO
i did get it, and i thought the circles and the little convos with them and the codex entries were interesting as you received them. the end credits scene was honestly just.... dumb to me. i dont think it upsets me as much as i have seen a lot of people upset by it (i think they are 100% valid to be pissed off however) because i frankly do not have as deep of an emotional connection to the earlier half of the series and am deeply biased towards inquisition because it was my first game. so while i didnt have a super strong reaction to it, i still think its stupid and bad, lazy writing. but i also think its really interesting in the context of the the rest of veilguard moving away from the moral gray-ness that made dragon age so beloved and famous because its kind of like... the ultimate manifestation of that?
ive already blabbed at length about how veilguard cannot handle anything past good vs. evil and every conflict (except solas) is sanitized to fit into these narrow, unrealistic categories of good and bad, and attributing the once complex and nuanced motivations of loghain, meredith, bartrand, and flemeth to "the illuminati told them to" is genuinely the most bonkers insane childish boring lazy unintelligent writing decision you could possibly imagine. there is also a very strong argument for it being a reflection of white supremacist, antisemitic conspiracy theories which i can go into at another time LOL. i do not think that was their intention, but the fact that they didnt know that it could be received that way is insane. but to not only put out a game where the characters feel like cardboard cut outs of good vs evil archetypes from a netflix show for 7 yr olds and then to RETROACTIVELY APPLY THE SAME NUANCE RITE OF ANNULMENT TO THE ENTIRE SERIES AND PAST CHARACTERS THAT WERE BELOVED FOR THEIR COMPLEXITY???? genuinely insane. it is definitely a slap in the face to david gaider and though i have never once in my life wanted his thoughts on anything, i would genuinely pay to hear what he thinks of it

One thing that annoys me so hard is whenever i see people boil down grrms writing to be the most bland, MEDIOCRE, boring ass take ever 😭 guy LOVES fantasy, he LOVES to worldbuild with mythology in mind, he LOVES prophecies- characters like Dany are literally the walking embodiment of his love for fantasy and the fantastical. YET I have to keep seeing the most braindead, tumblresque, BLANDEST takes ever. "hOTD IiS aBOuT tWO sPoIlED dAdDy iSsUED bRaTS", first of all we all know grrm sold his soul to hbo like faust sold his to the devil- but he literally DENOUNCED the show 😭 to think this everburning car accident that plagues the screens of the times square in nyc is an ACCURATE depiction of georges work is laughable. Im not gonna tell you what the dance is about, BESIDES that with removing the fantastical aspect (literally blood betrayal, dying of the dragons, the long night coming again), also removing the obvious aspect of womanhood in westeroa something that is DRIVING FORCE ON WHY THIS CONFLICT EXISTS, is fucking laughable. Especially because George DOES write about this misogyny, internalized or not so much, to completely ignore that point to push the fucking stupid "holier then thou because i hate the targaryens BC they are conquerers despite the people they conquered literally comitting two mass genocides together with forced conversion" (on that point who tf of yall think u can seperate the hightowers from the faith pre-dance?), is literally my achilles heel. I need some of you all to use your brain and THINK, very hard and long, and READ thru awoiaf or one of the DOZEN OTHER NOVELLAS we have on the dance, the blood betrayal, the long night.
Also another quick rant: this wannabe 'historian' pov of "im just boiling it down to the most blandest, white toast bread, ignoring and misinterpreting the lore the the extent that it would make the dumb and dumber PROUD" is so annoying- coming from someone who is studying history with a focus on pre-modern era (aka middle ages) atm. This doesnt work for a world in which *dragons* and *magic* not only EXISTS but also indirectly or even directly influences the fade of the world.
My take? The blood betrayal definitively definitively is there, was written to resemble the dance of dragons (or the other way around). Yeah ignore a younger brother betraying his older sister who was the rightful heir to the throne of an empire only ruled by men till then. Yeah ignore how that sister is called amethyst empress (in a line of a thousand different gems names there could be), while her brother is called the bloodstone emperor (which is btw a GREEN STONE WITH RED FLECKS). Yeah ignore that this betrayal is what caused the Maiden-made-of-LIGHT to turn her back on the world meanwhile the Lion of the NIGHT came forth with demons (with what the others are compared to btw) to the realm of MEN. Yeah ignore that Dany is also suppose to mirror/parallel the amethyst empress and that fixing the wrongs of her ancestors is also her whole thing. Yeah ignore that the breaker of chains, the Prince that was promised, the one who has an dynasty resting on her back, whose downfall started with the dying of dragons in a war fought over the heir not having a dick, is also a (very) young woman, her womanhood also playing a part in her whole Story. Am i saying Rhaenyra or Dany are the AE reborn? Hell No, and if id bet my money on Dany. But both of them and their conflicts get so extremely paralleled with the Amethyst Empress History that you have to be literacy blind to not see that.
But thats my opinion, you can believe what you want as long as you dont boil hotd down to being the "truth" and ignoring the existing fantasy/magic as well as the world building relevant extreme misogyny.
#anti hotd#yall im so tired of some of these white bread bagel opinions im seeing#taking the fantasy out of grrms writing is like burning 80% of the books#like my guys the books are full of fantasy#why are u trying to be wannabe historical about it#AND WHY ARE U HISTORICALLY SPEAKINGWRONG TOO#cuz from a modern pov u cant simply ignore an ongoing prejudice that shaped the world? you cant take away the main selling point of the#conflict like this is not how it works

what do we think about this family tree?
I like the idea that Kirishima comes from dragons because of the fantasy AU so he's got dragons in the family from his mom's side and his dad's side has rocks and metals
IDK WHERE TO PUT KOHAKU but shes blonde so i just sat her over there
I haven't gotten to the part where i meet kid yet but he has a metal power i do know
same power and they canonly used to be called "Meta abilities" in BSD they just call them abilities
villain father - hero student daughter, i like to remember Setsuna got in on recommendations ? i think she did and normally rec students are rich (Iida,Todoroki,Momo) so she's rich for a reason hjrtbdhxjstbg
ITS A STRETCH IDEA but step siblings with a age-gap (15 - 24 i think they are nine years apart? im bad at math)
Trumpet is Momo's father. Same father different mothers and Kai's mom abandon him? and the Liberation was trying to get ahold of him but Kai wants nothing to do with his "good for nothing father who only wants to mooch off his successes"
somebody on twitter told me "I guess I could see how disassembling and reassembling matter could be connected with transmutation of lipids if you assume the lipids are being disassembled at the subatomic level." so it must be the mothers quirk that's
TRUMPET AND AIZAWA ARE BROTHERS, MOMO IS TRUMPETS DAUGHTER AND OVERHAUL IS HIS FIRST CHILD
I don't know enough about one piece im only on season 1 but i go and look at a lot of spoilers but not so many i don't know anything about Sanji's family but i remembered either me or somebody else gave quirks to the One piece characters on your blog and labeled him with a fire quirk (i couldn't find it but i found it on my blog so i think it was me?? i have it tagged as #My treasure academia so maybe it was me??)
Quirk: flaming ankle: User can catch their legs on fire for fiery kicks. Only the legs nothing else
so Sanji as a todoroki jkgbdjtfghj
tho this is making me think about him being a Kaminari, DENKI HAVING A COOL OLDER BROTHER Sanji actually kinda reminds me of Kaminari ngl
and i just wanna say Nami - Ochako sister
Quirk: Navigation: User always knows where they are and where to go just by taking a moment to look around. Everything becomes familiar if they visited the place once. (Not very sure how this quirk works but i also feel like it could work if they spend a day in one place they automatic know the layout)
but i could change it to fit in with Ochako's family to this
Quirk: Compass/ true north: grants the user an innate ability to perceive their sense of direction and spatial orientation no matter where they are. The user can always pinpoint the exact location of true north and has an exceptional awareness of their surroundings once the quirk is active, making them naturally skilled in navigation. This ability extends to sensing the precise positions of objects and people within a certain radius, even if they are hidden or out of sight.
my sole reason: because they have the same voice actor and it would be cute for both the money girls to be sisters and Ochako having a troublesome thief sister is funny
Do you have any thoughts or add-ons? someone on twitter added someone who wasn't a mha character into Compress family tree so i had to put in my 5 dollars
oh my god this is a lot, okay let me think
first of all the idea that kidd could somehow be a distant relative of Kirishima makes so much sensenjdfjkdfkjf
as for aizawa and dazai, i LOVE those two and i think it says a lot about me that they are two of my fav (adult) characters
buggy and that girl i gotta be honest i do not remember herjdvfkjdfkj but i stand by u on that!
now momo and chisaki being siblings is something that makes sense to me, because momo's family is super rich, and nobody that rich is doing something clean with their money, so it would be interesting to see that her money comes from underground stuff like the yakuza
trumpt and aizawa brothers makes sense just bc they look alike tbhkjdfkjdfkjfdlk
and god u have no idea how right you are by saying that sanji would be in the todoroki family kvkmdkjckdfkjdfkdc but i like the idea of kaminari and sanji being siblings as well
NAMI AND OCHAKO SISTERS IS SOOOOO TRUEEE they sooo are, older sister nami my precious babygirl
im not sure i have something to add, but now I'm thinking about Kirishima meeting shanks, and i think they would hit it off so well lmao
