“Well, yeah, of course.” Buck answers easily, his heartbeat speeding up. He’s a little anxious about putting too much pressure, too many expectations out there, but he also knows that even if he did, they’d get back on track, they’d be fine. And besides, Tommy’s smiling, he doesn’t seem freaked out at all. And that’s after Buck brought up children. But if they’re moving forward with their relationship, they need to know what they want out of life. It seems reasonable to have this conversation this early on.

“Good.” he responds, grinning widely. “Now I won't have to stress about your answer when I ask.” he adds, and Buck feels himself blush, butterflies in his stomach going wild. Oh. Oh. This is- this is real. They’re talking about it, and maybe someday soon- he might marry this man. He will marry this man. Tommy wants him forever. Tommy wants him. Tommy wants to marry him and have children with him, and just be with him. Sometimes it’s still so shocking to Buck that someone as great and amazing as Tommy wants him, but he does. Buck’s not sure he remembers the last time he felt this wanted.

“How- how do you know I won’t ask first?” Buck asks, moving his head slightly closer to Tommy, just enough to look into his beautiful blue eyes. It feels surreal, talking about this, when they only dated for a few months, but it also feels… right. It feels like they’re on the right track to get there one day.

Like, I don’t even necessarily disagree with the overall statement of “sometimes you make decisions you regret when you’re scared of being who you are”. I honestly think the way they swept away Tommy & Gerrard’s blatant bigotry - that was the entire point of their characters even existing in the first place - just kind of left a bad taste in the back of my mouth for this speech.

Hey, how’s everyone doing? So here I am again, like a year later since my last post, because I just need to vent before I lose my mind.

So, the thing is, I was watching 9-1-1 again for like the millionth time, and just so happens that my mom walked by and got curious about what I was watching, so naturally, like the very noisy mom that I have, she decided to sit down and join me. And of course, the episode I was watching just so happened to be the lawsuit one where Eddie and Buck are fighting (iykyk), I don’t remember the exact episode number, but you get the idea.

Anyway, my beautiful yet very old fashioned mother looks directly into my soul with this very serious expression and goes, 'Are you watching a gay show?' Now, my mom isn't homophobic but feels a bit uncomfortable about queernes and all of that, she's kinda having a hard time accepting people but she's not against it, although she's trying her best. So, you can imagine I was shitting my pants a little bit with that one when she came out with that. I was like, 'Uh, yes… but also no?' Then I asked why she thought that, and with a very 'Are you shitting me' look she says, and I quote, 'They’re married, like, they’re literally fighting over custody, right? Talking about lawyers and all that. I did this with your dad so you can't tell me they’re not... Homosexual or whatever you call it these days.'

So yeah... All I did was laugh like a maniac and managed to explain her the situation (sort of) and even showed her bits from other episodes to give her the full picture of Buck and Eddie’s dynamic. And I kid you not, just when I was showing her The kitchen scene™ my sister walked in and got somehow involved, a minute into the conversation she tells me 'Michelle what the fuck are you talking about, those two have to be fucking, look how the guy with the beer is looking at that other dude, is like that meme with the cat and the cookie.' Like I'm not the one who is obsessed with the show, anyways my mom later agreed and in disbelief told me that they've had to fucked at least once. At this point, I was on the floor, either crying from laughter or pure shock because here’s my 'I'm very uncomfortable about gays' mother telling me that the way those two looked at each other was with, and I qoute again: 'Very sex deprived eyes.'

So, to wrap this stupid and totally unnecessary post I’ve come to two conclusions:

1.- My mom may no longer be in the "I'm not homophobic I just don't really like when two boys or girls kiss each other" category because, after all that, she literally started rooting for those two to not only kiss but fuck each other. So... Thanks 9-1-1 I guess?

2.- And two, if MY mom is now convinced that those two Need to be together, or more like belong together in words of my sister, so can ABC. So if Buddie doesn't become canon these season I will personally go down to the ABC studios and force them to make it happen.

That’s all folks, thanks for letting me rant, because I was about to lose it. Have a lovely afternoon or night or whatever you're having. And if you’ve got someone who may be homophobic or is uncomfortable with queerness, maybe tell them about Buck and Eddie. It did worked for my mom after all.

Some people really need to chill out. This week's episode was not about Buddie. It was about Chimney and Maddie. Of course, I would have loved to see the karaoke scene, but if they had to cut it to include more of Chimney's arc, then good for them. I absolutely love Chimney and Maddie, and seeing them finally get married made me cry so much. I thought people would agree, but no, people only care about the Buddie of it all or how Tommy apparently "didn't put any effort into anything." WTH. Stop focusing on things that don't matter just because you are upset about your ship and how about you focus on WHO AND WHAT the episode is actually about. I'm literally so tired of people making character centric episodes about other characters or picking out the littlest details of a character just to hate on them. I know at some point we're gonna be getting a more Bobby centric storyline, and I swear if I see people not making it about Bobby and completely ignoring his story, I'm gonna scream. I get that there's going to be other scenes of other characters in a specific character centric episode, I'm not saying you can't like those scenes. Of course, you can. But the number of people who are complaining so much just because they didn't get their buddie karaoke scene are driving me insane. They clearly had to get rid of some things so they could include more stuff about Chimney. Hmmm, imagine them deleting scenes so they could include more scenes of who the episode is actually about. Imagine 🤦‍♀️

well… rafa was right about saying some people might be okay with the secret and some people might hate it 😬 lazy writing aside and how they wiped a chunk of season 1 aside, im a bit let down about carlos’ insistence on total transparency with tk while not giving him the same back thats kind of my only hiccup with this.

im not actually surprised about the carlos-iris storyline cuz his coming out was the first big thing we learned about him, it nearly fractured his relationship with tk and possibly drove away past partners and overall he was just harbouring a lot of pain about his parents’ reaction to it. he also became more complex as a person cuz we saw 3 seasons of tk’s character growth and handling his addiction and past trauma and now carlos’ past is surfacing. people have their own past traumas and experiences and the being in a relationship is understanding how to make that work and how can you support each other and where to draw a line y’know?

and idk if im trying to give too many excuses or trying to make this make sense 😭 but iris was gone right after season 1 and so was michelle and it might’ve seemed like carlos didn’t have to worry about her anymore? and combining that with his surprise about tk coming back to him after their big post farmers market fight, i dont think he ever thought his relationship with tk or any person for that matter would ever get to this point so why bother sharing. cuz he should’ve explained why his parents dont know about tk but he didn’t so in my head it sort of checks out.

that being said, lavender marriages are a thing, gay people getting married to save face is a thing and so is this health benefits situation like i know people within my peer circle who married a gay friend to help them out while both continuing to date separate people 🤷🏽

especially if carlos was young when he made that decision, that sheer panic of coming out to parents and being on shaky ground and feeling like its only a matter of time or one misstep before the rug gets pulled out from under your feet and you’re cut off from the family. and he’s latino who probably grew up very integrated in the extended family and loves them enough to want them in his life. that what i make of this, just my two cents.

anyone who’s upset are completely entitled to that of course it is lazy and it feels like it backtracks all the progress made and i get why people might feel like they lost a little bit of love for the character.. i let out one big sigh when i saw the scene lol but im glad they’re not dragging this out and its a one episode thing cuz i dont think i can handle more of it.

Chapter 25: Christopher's birthday (excerpt):

 “Dad and Buck are the best. But I wish you were here, too.”

“Your mom is always with us.” Eddie says, wrapping his free arm around him and kissing his forehead.

“I know, but I wish she was here like you’re here.” Christopher sighs, leaning his head against Eddie’s shoulder.

“Well, if she was, I bet she’d love your party. And she’d get you the greatest gift. You remember how she always bought the best gifts?” he asks, and his son nods his head, maybe not so much remembering, as knowing which things he owns are from her. “And I bet she’d love our Buck, too.” Eddie adds, looking at Buck, who looks slightly uncomfortable. When he hears his name, his eyes snap to Eddie’s face. 

“She would.” Chris agrees. 

“You think so?” Buck whispers so that only Eddie can hear, while Chris goes back to telling his mom about his awesome birthday. “I mean, I’m dating her ex and parenting her child. I’m not sure she’d love me. I don’t know if she’d be happy I’m even here right now.” he murmurs, looking at the headstone cautiously, as if it was about to come to life and scream at him to go away.
