while i was away i managed to play mai mai for the first time (the washing machine looking rhythm game)!!! it was so fun, i saw photon melodies and i shall be a cat there!! i was like, "NO FUCKING WAYYY" and almost threw up from how excited i was heheh!! there was also taiko there but i was mostly obsessed w mai mai! there was a guy there who was so fucking good (he had a mimo[?] account and everything!! he had GLOVES just for playing) it felt a little embarrassing playing in front of him but watching him play was cool!

the first song i played was photon melodies on expert bc me and my older sibling thought we could do it (we couldnt) then we played i shall be a cat on advanced!! the other two songs were wah wah world and cranky's remix of night of nights (both on advanced as well)

it was so funnnn.... i wanna play it again when i see it in an arcade somewhere!!

i wanted to answer some of your questions/comments because im incapable of not talking about my characters (it's a Problem)

no. 1: eidolon vetch is the title of the story!! i talk about it in more detail in other posts on the tag but it's basically about kit (gentleman thief on hiatus who's soso gender. i talk about her here) becoming orpheus' assistant to try solve the biggest unsolved mystery in the city (disappearance of this kid 10 years ago. the kid was the son of a very important figure and also he vanished without a trace)(his name was nathaniel grimoire and he was so cringe i love him). theres a lot of shenanigans and mystery and reminiscing about heists because i love gentleman thieves and detectives!!!

it's kinda period-drama-y wbwbw! it's set in a fantasy city (which is currently unnamed but i will name it Eventually) but the city and the fashion and all that jazz is based on 1890s-1900s london and new york city wbwb (it's mostly because i love the fashion of the era wbwbw)

no. 2: orph is SUCH a weird little guy (gender neutral) and im real happy you love his whole deal :DD he's mutually obsessed with his favourite two humans (kit and cecil) and it's great!! love them theyre the trio ever <3 also yes he is autistic! ask him about poisons he wants so desperately to talk about poisons he didnt read every book in the archives (the city library/archive place) for nothing

no. 3: the dead gods thing is Complicated. i talked a wee bit more about it here but currently im still figuring things out re: how the gods actually died but basically: there was a pantheon of gods but they were killed by followers of a different pantheon (twin sister-gods) centuries before the story begins. the only remnants of that pantheon in the 4th century of the waking church are orpheus (god of deceit + dreams) and kit's (currently being renamed) lover (god of history, memory).

anyways orpheus was human once but then he was killed and came back wrong (a god) but also the same (he wanted to come back wrong in that he became a different person but he stayed the same and he's so angry about it. wanted to be came back wrong in a trans way but instead came back the same and he has to deal with that now). but yeah even orph doesnt really have any idea how he's a god it just happened wbwbwb

no. 4: CECIL!!! i will talk about him in more detail one day but he's also my beloved <3!! he's kit's sworn brother and orpheus' detective partner/best friend (who's been in love with him since the first case they solved together. which was right after they met). he's an artist and he prefers clambering over the roofs of buildings than using the streets and he's so nosy it gets him into trouble and there's more but i'll leave it for now. i love him he's my beloved! the ship name between him and orph is orphecil and i find it real funny because it sounds like a medecine brand (my friend coined it)

orpheus alabaster my BOY !! he's so silly <3 (also this is going to be a LONGGG post so it's under a cut) (he's my little guy i've got a lot to say about him)

He's like the city equivalent of a world-famous detective (one half of a detective agency working out of the attic of a curiosity/antique shop in the oldest part of the city)– he's a household name, and is known for taking on pretty much every case that he comes across (except, curiously, the biggest unsolved mystery the city has ever seen). Basically, Orph is the detective of the gentleman thief-detective dynamic and the watsonian narrator-detective dynamic (i love detectives <3)

He's observant, and will not rest until he's solved the case (to his detriment), and would risk his life if it meant saving the lives of others (to his detriment). He's got a terrible memory (so he writes everything down in one of his numerous notebooks) and he's not great with people (he's trying, somewhat. Cecil's usually the one who talks to clients). He's always down to work around the law/the watch (the city's law enforcement). He's very nosy (Cecil also is, they're perfect for each other).

He's also basically all those memes that are like "kinda gay to be a detective [etc etc]". While his partner (Cecil– they started the detective agency together!) has been pining over him since pretty much when they met (6 years before the story starts), Orpheus fell much harder and discovered this in the past year (he's having a Great Time. demiromantic king !!). They're so silly and devoted to each other (they call each other "Mr. Alabaster" and "Mr. Meyers" theyre sickening) and it's a whole Thing.

Also! Orph's the new incarnation of the forgotten/illegal/dead god of deceit and dreams (he's a detective and also the patron god of thieves and liars wbwbwb– this amuses me greatly). He's got a complicated relationship with his identity and personhood (which may have something to do with him taking on faces and personas at the drop of a hat) and isn't quite sure if he counts as something alive anymore.

Also to do with the fact that he's a kinda-not-really dead god, Orpheus isn't quite alive; he's a believable fascimile of something living, but he doesn't bleed when cut, he's cold to the touch, and sometimes Cecil can swear that he isn't breathing. He died not too long before he arrived in the city (and has the ligature marks on his neck to prove it) and came back, but even though he'd love to have come back wrong he came back exactly the same as he was before.

Here are some extra/funky facts about Orph:

he plays the piano!! he doesn't do it often for reasons he's never told Cecil but he's very good at it and has played for him in the past

he wanted to be a poet when he was younger, and still sometimes jots lines down in between all his other notes

his hands are perpetually inkstained, his fingertips are nearly all blackened from ink

the only times he's been truly excited for his clientele to be some of the city's richest are for hermes vetch heists. they're also the only times he's happy to have not solved the case (he's got a soft spot for the thief and misses him greatly)(he keeps reminiscing about heists to kit's face without knowing kit is hermes vetch and it's so funny to me)

he's mixed race (this isnt very important story wise, but it's important to me (also mixed race)) (so's kit)

he's non-binary!! (he/him enby times!!)

he's also a trans allegory for reasons i will not go into (they contain secretsssss)

he wouldn't like to say he has a favourite method of murder, but it's poisons. he likes to have an excuse to infodump and show off his knowledge of poisons

he probably would look real nice if he put any effort in to how he looks. he doesn't, so he looks like if a cat got drenched then blow-dried and rolled in ink

he hates having anything touching his neck, especially if they're wrapped around his neck. he will suffer and be cold if he has to be

the only times he'd overcome his need to put others before himself is when cecil (and to an extent kit/hermes vetch) is in danger (they're his best friends !!)

he often stares unblinkingly when thinking. it's a wee bit intimidating

his family is basically just matchsticks kelly (the guy who owns the antique shop who took him in), and cecil (later it'll also include kit), he doesn't talk about his family

he's known about cecil's sleeping habits and tendency to clamber over the rooftops for 6 years and still gets jumpscared by him clambering into his window in the dead of night

You have been a full-year camper at Camp Half-Blood for the better part of your life. You came to camp a year after Annabeth but unlike her, who had always known she was an Athena kid since she was born like all of them do, you have been stuck as an unclaimed camper.

It was when Percy chose you for his first quest that you felt like you were worthy of anything. Spending that time with them, it was rejuvenating. But it was right when the four of you came back that your God parent decided you deserved to be called their child.

"[Name], above you..." Annabeth grinned, happy for you. The satisfaction of getting claimed reminded you of the jealousy you'd felt when Percy got claimed a few days after he made it to camp. You stared at him being proud for you at finally knowing who your parent is.

"[Name] [Last Name], child of _______, [God parent's title]"

Percy was glad you were happy about this, but he couldn't help but be angry at _______ for leaving you unclaimed for four years. He had no right, of course, but he felt bad for you and that trumped his joy of meeting the Olympians 4 years from then.

"Do you know how long they'd waited for their parent to claim them before that? FOUR YEARS! FOUR YEARS OF DISAPPOINTMENT AND INSECURITY! Compared to them, Poseidon is the world's best dad!"

"That's ENOUGH, Perseus Jackson!" Zeus snapped. Poseidon glared at his brother before sighing.

"Is he wrong? I feel bad for a lot of the campers, and though the only reason I claimed Percy days after is for his mother, it's something we should fix."

Percy, one of the first few times, was grateful for his dad. It started the promise that he forced the twelve Olympians to accept after the Second Titan War.

It was during the Battle inside Daedalus' Labyrinth that you helped Percy decide the promise he wanted to force upon the Gods.

Him being so determined to help all campers get claimed though he hadn't been one was what told you that you loved this boy.

You and PAVITR had known each other for a while, long enough that he trusts you with his secret of being Spiderman with how close you two were.

Now you were on one of the tallest buildings in Mumbattan, swinging your feet over the ledge as Pavitr sat beside you with his hand unintentionally holding onto yours firmly since there was a small bit of lingering fear at the idea of you falling.

"Jeez, finally.. a break." He sighs in relief, taking off his mask with his free hand as you chuckle. "Isn't being Spiderman supposed to be sooo easy, Pav?" You teased, watching him roll his eyes in amusement. "Well, of course it is. But it certainly is busy, and I really just wanna spend time with you." Pavitr answers honestly, noticing how you seemed to be even just a little surprised and he was very entertained by that idea. You can already see his own little smirk beginning to form.

You clear your throat to hopefully shift the topic. "What made you so burnt-out today then?"

It didn't take long for you to see how his face shifts to a frown, and you knew exactly what he was about to bring up. "Miguel.. he's been so hard on some of us recently, especially the new-comers who he introduced the 'canon events' to." Pavitr runs a hand through his hair, his sigh was a mix of sadness and frustration as he recalls the events that occured earlier in the day. "They just want to save their loved ones.. no one can accept that kind of information and simply allow it to happen, you know?"

You nod along with his statement, unable to even imagine the dread those people must feel, just waiting for the people they care about most to die for their own development.

"But that's a sad topic, and today is supposed to be a nice resting day for the both of us." Pavitr smiles a little to lighten the mood, squeezing your hand softly as you take a deep breath. "Mines not been the best either.."

The smile he tries to hold falters at those words.

"Mom.. she's still very insistent on the arranged marriage." You let out a forced and bitter laugh. "I don't.. I mean, I don't know if I want to marry that person when I'm older. I've met them twice, Pav. And in the future, I have to spend every single loving who is essentially a stranger. Isn't that even a little weird in my parents eyes?"

He hated seeing how hopeless you looked, having no choice in who you want to love is devestating and in some cases lonely. Seeing real couples on the street and wondering what kind of innocent love you're likely missing out on.

Pavitr stands up and your head follows him as he does so, watching his determination-filled face as he pulls you up with ease. "Let's not wallow in sadness, yes? I'd much rather see you smile than frown." His hand makes its way to your cheek, causing you to chuckle softly as you lean into the touch and place your hand over his. "Thanks, Pav."

And without thinking, the next sentence you manage to stupidly utter out is; "Gosh, I wish you were the one I married instead."

You can see the visible surprise in his face when you say that, before you realize what exactly escaped your lips. "W-wait..-"

But it seems like Pavitr seems more affected than you, the hand once placed on your cheek immediately pulled back to cover his mouth and the uncontrollable but flustered smile on his face.

"You want to marry me??"

Instead of a mocking or angry tone, he seems genuinely happy that the person he's had a secret crush on for year or so finally gives some sort of hint that he's more than a friend.

"Do you mean it? Like.. really mean it?"

"I mean, yeah! Anyone would want to marry you.."

There's silence exchanged between the two of you, staring at each other in confusion, disbelief and surprise.

"What? Are we about to kiss right now?"

Pavitr teased to ease his nerves, but imagine how much worse they got when you actually started to lean in. He begins to quietly panic, however in all honesty he wants to do nothing else but kiss you at the moment. What if he never gets the chance to do it again? He couldn't risk that.

He finally presses his lips against yours, albeit very very nervously but a kiss is a kiss and goodness is he into it. Pavitr melts into the intimacy, but is very quick to pull away incase you're uncomfortable.

It seems almost impossible how fast his heart is racing when he watches your eyes flutter open and the realization that you actually kissed Pavitr rushes through your head quickly.
