“so pretty,” it’s barely above a whisper, you hardly even catch it. you stop your movements to turn your head from your vanity mirror humming in question. mingyu’s ears flush a deep burgundy before he turns his head the to side and scratches his neck, embarrassed that he was caught. “i said,” he begins, speaking louder than intended, he clears his throat before continuing this time softer “you’re so pretty”. 

this time it’s your turn to feel the heat rise to your cheeks. “oh,” you turn your eyes down, looking at your lap “thanks gyu” you chuckle awkwardly.

your relationship with mingyu isn’t a new one, in fact you’ve been together for years and known each other even longer. you just can’t seem to get over the shyness that creeps up whenever he compliments you. was it the way his eyes grow large when you catch him staring? or the way he moves to brush his hair behind his ear, regardless of its length, when he’s gathering the courage to say what he’s thinking? how about the way he grabs your hands and fidgets with your fingers, looking down at them, to distract himself? could it possibly be the way he beams at your reaction to him, as if he’s said the worlds most absurd thing? you honestly couldn’t tell, but whatever it was it had your heart melting every time.

mingyu walks up behind you placing a hand on your head, pulling you from your thoughts. sliding his fingers through your hair he begins petting you, soft smile on his face. “can i watch you,” he asks timidly. you nod your head, expecting him to go back to his spot at the end of your shared bed but instead he stays put, watching you intently from behind. 

 mingyu continues playing with your hair as you finish the routine he interrupted, briefly asking questions about things you were putting on your face and the process you had.

once all was said and done your finishing spray was nice and dry and you’re ready to face the day. you do a quick once over in the mirror before turning to look up at mingyu “what do you think? does it look okay,” you ask, expecting a simple answer. mingyu’s eyes widen and he quickly brings his hand up to his neck, rubbing furiously. he nods before whispering a soft “pretty”.  you smile and thank him before standing, reaching out to grab the belongings you planned to bring out with you before heading to the front door. mingyu takes your hand, intertwining your fingers as you walk out of your home and into the outside world, mumbling a bashful “with or without make up, you’re beautiful.”

suguru geto is DEFINITELY the type to just give you a light, dangerous smile, and then chuckle when you make jokes about his size and call him small. you wonder why he's not getting defensive like most men do. then later, when you're innocently sitting on his lap while with the rest of your friends, you feel it. when he sees your eyes widen in shock, he'll give you that smile again.

In the least possibly pressury way, as in feel free to ignore this if it isn’t something you want to do, this is just purely bc i reread the hunger au and am hungering for more - do you have any updates on how the next chapter is going?

Also (this is the same anon who asked how Impulse confronted Grian a little while ago btw in case ur seeing a slightly pattern) would you feel like expanding on how the other hermits or non hermit lifers felt when they found out Grian made the life games? Or how they feel about the state he’s ended up in? (tho i completely get that that is probably a thing ur going to explore anyway im just having thoughts)

Anyway this is such a good au, ur writings fantastic and im loving what ur doing. As a writer myself I may be taking some notes on how u r writing these characters because the way you make us feel exactly what they r feeling is incredible!

I wish i could give more updates on hunger au's progress but to be completely honest with you anon, my irl life kinda uh 😅😅 just completely imploded right as i was getting back into the groove of things. I am making progress still, but its slower than i'd like-- by necessity ive had to emergency pivot my attention to more pressing matters going on rn 😭😭😭😭 trust me when i say its probably frustrating me more than anyone else at this point

I appreciate the compliments a lot tho!!! All of yalls encouraging words mean the world to me and make getting through these difficult situations a little bit easier❤️❤️❤️ i wish i could say more about how the hermits reacted, but thats actually MAJOR spoilers that im very excited to show you guys in-fic, so for now all i can really say is that you'll have to see :]]

unanimously the answer is sleep. cecilias case is a bit more complicated because she doesnt have her puppet as an escape (she Hates being ace so bad), but for all of them its like. the most rancid mix of "i cant get anything done+the Horrors" that makes all of them see sleep as some variation of 'useless bad thing Do Not Do This." for individual answers though:

Caine- cooking. and cleaning. and decorating. honestly basically anything other than the bare minimum upkeep of their living situation that wont end directly impact his work. he lives in an r/malelivingspace ass house. dont even talk to them about their base. this is why ortega still thinks theyre poor.

Cyrus- social hangouts. he used to enjoy these when he was younger, but ever since heartbreak he couldnt see any real point and stopped participating in them. its only recently that hes started doing them again. everybody point and laugh at the loser making Friends again.

Cecilia- this is interesting to answer for her since, after heartbreak, she absolutely Refused to do things that she didnt find interesting or at the very least useful in some way. she would classify her whole life before heartbreak– hell, before becoming lupin– to be a waste. a waste of time she didnt know was precious, a waste of people she didnt know she had to cherish. nowadays, she doesnt have the luxury of time to waste on things she doesnt want to do.

Cynthia- would it be depressing if i said investing into relationships. she Wants to– she so desperately wants to cultivate a real relationship with somebody without strings attached, but shes not naive enough to think that she can. she still puts in effort, but theres always the small nugget in the back of her brain that it isnt worth it.
