Disclaimer that this isn't drama posting, and also not to take the salty bitch way I talk as an attack - I just talk like a salty bitch in general lmfao.

Before I start, I do just want to clarify that yes there's a lot of teens in the fandom but it's honestly a pretty 50/50 split of teens and adults.

First, addressing anon:

1) on the mental illness thing:

mental illness being romanized and portrayed inaccurately is a fucking world wide phenomenon right now. Is it a problem? Yes absolutely. Is creepypasta at fault? Hell to the no. If you want to address the issue of bad portrayals of mental illness and the trend of fetishizing mental illness, just address it as a whole. Dont hone in on a single fandom. And instead of harassing, just educate. That's what I do. I actually do have DID and try to help educate folks in this fandom about it so they can portray Liu & Sully accurately. Guess what? It's had a massive positive impact :D (don't berate, chose to educate)

2) "fiction is subjective"

...no. Fiction is objective. It's objectively not real.

3) "maybe it's just creepy drawings"

So you literally don't know what creepypasta is but chose to harrass someone for liking it?

1) "slenderman inspired an actual murder"

What happened is an absolute tragedy, absolutely. It's inexcusable. And Slenderman is an excuse. Saying "creepypasta has inspired an actual murder so therefore creepypasta bad" is like saying "video games inspire people to become mass shooters." No. The two girls who killed their friend tried to use Slenderman as an excuse in court to lessen their charges. Actually, there's not really any good evidence that Slenderman had anything to do with it. (Research the case more). It's spitting in the face of the victim to blame it on Slenderman. No, all the blame is on the two that murdered her. Point blank, end of story.

2) "the slasher fandom doesn't romanticize the killers from the films"

Um... Yeah, they do. They do just as much as creepypasta does. And the slasher fandom is waaaaaaaay bigger lol. There is a vast abundance of slasher x reader fluff, comfort, sfw, nsfw etc stuff out there. And the slasher fandom does nsfw art too which is not very common in the creepypasta fandom, so pls, don't even try to claim that the slasher fandom isn't guilty of hardcore simping for fictional serial killers.

3) "the creepypasta fandom excuses and humanizes the characters"

Which the slasher fandom also does but ok.

Anyway, if you actually read the backstories if the characters and learned more about them, you'd understand why they get humanization from the fandom. Hint: they didn't start bad, they were broken and abused to their breaking point. People find the trauma and struggles of the characters to be very relatable. I know I do.

Now, if these were real serial killers, people doing this would not be cash money. However, they're fictional. They don't exist. No one was actually harmed in the making of these pastas lol. I mean, half these characters arent even human characters, they're demonic beings (EJ, Ben, Jason, Candy, Puppeteer, Kagekao, etc etc etc).

4) creepypasta=/=the entirety of horror fandoms

Yeah, Im pretty sure no one thinks it is. Creepypasta is very clearly it's own subgenre in the over arcing horror genres. Just like slashers are also a very clear cut subgenre, as is the disturbing horror genre, etc. I mean, I don't think anyone looks at Jeff the Killer, Friday the 13th, A Serbian Film, then says "ah yes these are the same thing."

TL;DR, unless you're simping for actual real life serial killers, you're Gucci.

No offense, but doesn't creepypasta romanticize murder? Like, these people...kill people? I don't really think that's a good thing to like people over, especially considering a lot of these characters have "gone crazy"? That honestly sounds quite dehumanizing to people with mental illness associated with being crazy, e.g. schizophrenia, psychosis, and sociopathy/psychopathy.

I mean, fiction is subjective and at the end of the day, I can't control what you like or don't like, and maybe I'm wrong, maybe creepypasta is just characters drawn creepily. But something just irks me that most creepypastas I've seen are about murderers.

Uh, in all honesty I don't know much about mental disorders- but Im trying hard to educate myself on them. I've noticed abelist things like saying having another personality is bad (Liu and Sully) and people being really careless when making their characters have such disorders

I just recently got in the fandom and I can tell that most of the people in it are kids, including myself- not that that's a bad thing- but a lot of people are uneducated in this fandom.

No, killing people is NOT a good thing, its a terrible thing actually. I mean cmon a lot of people who like these characters don't think about actually doing this stuff I don't hope-

But honestly, it makes me really upset that creepypasta and stuff in that universe get so much criticism when regular horror movies/series don't. Creepypasta isn't even,,,a real like, show or anything.

Creepypasta is just oc's people made that coincidentally kill people. Horror shows and movies are the same way except they actually go into detail. If your gonna criticize this fandom for its content, criticize horror media as a whole.
