Something so deeply fucked up to me about hc!Phil being so desperate to fly that he was willing to die if it meant he got even one moment in the sun... That he was spotted and cared enough for by a divine being that she would give that to him as a gift.

Each healed wound threatens to break disturbingly fresh because as time moves he simply does not.

And the memories are disorienting; so many faces that merge together; people he's seen before but are undeniably and irreparably different than the ones he knew. Those he crosses paths with again by chance are those he will inevitably lose, too. He dreams of being there; maybe in a sense, he really is. But there are a thousand dog-eared pages in his notebooks where he's trailed off, remembered something he swore was never real, imagined a person he thought he'd forgotten and feel guilt for having ever forgotten. Hundreds of restless nights where he counts the faces he recalls like sheep. He cannot remember them all. Not feasibly.

And those worlds can't even allow him his body. The autonomy of his gift. The one thing making this curse feel even remotely worth it in his darker moments. That light at the end of the tunnel is no more than an unattended streetlamp, and it could very well burn its bulb and die on him too.
