As a devotee of Demeter, I sometimes feel that people only worship Persephone for the aesthetic.

I feel horrible for saying and thinking that but I can't help but feel that way. Certain pagans portray Persephone as some overpowered Mary Sue, downplaying the importance of her mother and sometimes even her husband.

I feel like people really ignore her as a agrarian deity. They claim to love her but feel the need to change everything about her - if you need to change her did you ever like her in the first place?

It honestly just feels like they're talking about a Wattpad main character instead of a religious figure at times it's so jarring to me. Imagine if someone on tiktok described their deity as a dark and daddy figure bad boy with piercings and then its literally just Jesus Christ.

And its not just Persephone, it's the whole pantheon! Some worshippers talk about the deities and their myths like characters and tropes from a telenovela. They are rarely treated like religious figures, they are more than just their myths.

Honestly, I agree with this sentiment. I've seen this time and time again where Persephone, and many other deities, get "fandomized" which can be problematic for others, even if it's ok in that individual's practice. Sometimes it feels like our religion isn't taken seriously, even by the people who actively practice it, but I also understand that people have different forms of practicing that work better for them. It's frustrating, however, when Persephone is depicted as this Mary Sue characterization of her where she's seen as, like, super edgy, badass, and powerful in a really fandomized way. It comes across as this person using Persephone as an avenue of self-expression rather than worshipping who she actually is as a deity (not to say she's not badass or powerful, to clarify). While it's ok to use a deity as an avenue for self-expression in worship (some trans folk, for example, view Apollon as trans-masc, and it actively plays a role in their worship), it's a lot less ok when you're making this deity into a cartoonish characterization of themselves. The gods present themselves differently to people, but I don't know; I guess I find it far-fetched to believe that Persephone would present herself in this sort of way. I can't speak for her, obviously, but I just disagree with this interpretation of who she is as a deity - putting herself above others, hating her mom, being a rebellious "wild child". I think that, psychologically speaking, some people might just find comfort in this representation of her and see themselves in it which is likely why they gravitate towards it. It's fine to have that experience, but I STRONGLY encourage these people to actually read the myths about Persephone, do the research on how she was worshipped, and actively try to better understand where she actually came from as a deity because this isn't just a character in a show that you relate to; this is a goddess that you're trying to worship, no?

Some people finding more success in their practice with this representation doesn't negate the harm these misconceptions and misinformation can cause. I've met multiple people who believe that Persephone willingly fled to the Underworld to "escape" Demeter (which is untrue), and that is endlessly frustrating to me, especially due to the cultural importance of the Hymn to Demeter (the myth of Persephone being kidnapped). The gods are not their myths, in my experience, but their myths still hold a heavy importance in the way they were worshipped in the past, and the way we worship them in the present. Demonizing an entire deity is the equivalent of trying to cancel a constellation of stars; it's pointless, extremely bizarre, and very "online" behavior.

But yeah, I think some people care more about the "character" than they do the deity, and I will say that confidently. I've met people who "ship" deities with each other, who make their experiences with deities sound - as you said - like a telenovela, and who actively spread harmful misinformation about deities in a way that legitimately disgusts and disturbs me. I've once had someone tell me that a deity [insert reprehensibly immoral act here] them, and to this day, I still cannot believe they said that to me when I was a beginner, just to dissuade me from worshipping that deity. The lengths some people will go to drag a deity is honestly both sad and ridiculous.

I wish some people took the religion more seriously in the sense that they didn't just make random shit up about deities, actively disrespect and disregard the culture the deities stem from, and demonize some deities while bolstering others. It shows a level of immaturity and indifference towards the culture these deities come from. It's not a fandom; it's a way of worship.

It feels like they love the deities in an obsessive fan type of way sometimes, but that's not for me to say, really.

i can tell u havent had the best experiences with christianity. im really sorry about that :( i just wanted to tell u that despite how people (who should be demonstrating God’s love) have treated you, or what they have said to you, that God still loves you. John 3:16 tells us that He loves everyone; the whole world.

unfortunately christians these days spread more hate than love, but i hope to show u, and anyone else that reads this, that we arent all like that, and that the true point of christianity is to spread God’s message, love, and to help lead people toward Him, not away.

Personally, I think I'm at the point right now where (you're right) I haven't had the best experiences with Christianity but I can recognize that there are plenty of good people who are religious. Past experiences just make me nervous, you know, and I think a lot of people unfortunately share that hesitation. It's something that a lot of people have been deeply hurt by, and that's super valid, because religious trauma can run deep. But I think as I move past those experiences, I have been able to start finding my own version of spirituality and peace with the world.

It's refreshing to see that religion like this exists though. Like, that people have this kind of genuine and safe relationship with religion. I hope that a lot of the religious anons who have written to me in the past about their struggles can see this and realize that it IS possible to be religious (if you want, you absolutely don't have to be) and accept people and yourself for who you are. Like...religion and hate don't have to be synonymous, no matter what people say. (I hope this came out right...like I'm not saying anyone has to be religious, I'm saying religious people don't have to hate on themselves/others for being queer lol)

tell me about kanako pls

WHY BUT OF COURSE (sorry this took so long ^^;)

kanako is one of my absolute favourites in the cast because shes the character that to me brought what i like in the franchise into focus in full form. while there were hints of political satire in touhou starting around the tail end of the ninth game and its following spinoff literature, it wasnt until i reached the tenth mainline title that i really fell in love with touhou, and the driving force of that change was yasaka kanako.

kanako is such a fun character to me because her very concept is so compelling, and its delivered in an extremely satisfying way. she is a god who treats religion like running a business, and is pragmatic to every end. this is both one of her greatest strengths and a source of literally all of her issues. everything about kanako is a vignette that illustrates how her capitalistic drive for innovation creates the troubles she faces in advancing further toward her goals, and her misunderstanding of spirituality as an economic problem to be solved for efficiency creates roadblocks for her lifestyle that she is entirely, confidently blind to.

once again i have to stress, this does seem to work for her in some aspects! when she took over leadership of the suwa shrine, she did so by being calculating and planning ahead against anything suwako had up her arsenal, then sweetened the deal for both of them by offering a compromise (sharing residence as the local kami, with suwako acting as the native god and kanako being the face of the shrine who gets the worship). she made a judgment call by choosing to move the shrine from the outside world to gensoukyou when she realized that it was no longer feasible for her and her company to rely on worship from outside world humans. all of these things are demonstrably good business decisions made in the name of keeping her livelihood as a shinrei stable. however, after she moves into gensoukyou with her wife and daughter, she begins to get, well, greedy isnt the right word, but...

capitalism is a force that has to inherently grow, as that is what its entire existence encourages. so what happens when you introduce an individual whose skill is in her capitalistic business prowess into a society that has no knowledge of it? you get kanakos assumption that she needs to introduce it into their culture. she could always have more people worship her. so she tries outperforming her competing... shrines. what would make me a better god? what would prove im more fit to lead gensoukyous humans? these things start running through kanakos head very very quickly. and it isnt out of self-importance either (unlike certain other religious leaders in gensoukyou cough cough miko), she just sees it as the natural extension of running her shrine.

but of course, when you introduce capitalism into a culture, you Introduce Capitalism Into A Culture. in kanakos pursuit of refining her worshipers into customers, she makes it clear to others in her field that there is even a race for power at all. her insistence to assert her presence in gensoukyou through gaining human worshipers via the hakurei shrine alerts reimu to her as someone who is influencing the status quo in the first place. her arms race for nuclear fusion (of which she is the only participant) is directly responsible for the introduction of the myouren temple to gensoukyou, which in turn leads to the introduction of miko and her band of taoists. not to mention her many, many unnecessary entrepreneurial ideas she comes up with in the print works (although they seem much more respectable when shown side-by-side with the anarcho-capitalist schemes of the kappa). these things never would have threatened her position had she not attempted to expand her reach.

in one sense, this is a huge character flaw for her. however, the other side of this coin means that no matter the conflicts kanako brings about for herself, she always views it as inevitable; something that is bound to happen over time regardless, and just another stepping stone on her business ventures. this aspect of her is what i find most interesting—her complete inability to see the big picture in her endless strive for religious success is somehow her most reliable asset. its what makes kanako wonderful to me, and endlessly engaging even after almost two decades since her introduction.

didnt have wifi for a few days wrote a snippet of the novel im writing for cassie. dumping it here unproofread. 

My mum was slicing open the apple. She had a wrathful way of working in the kitchen; knives were her forte. She cut the apple to its core, a jagged line that cause juice to spill across her fingers. A drop seemed to slide across her thumb and splatter on the ground, leaving a circle of residue. Nevertheless, the knife persisted-- another jagged line ripped apart the core, the gentle flesh marked with the edge of her fingernail. The kitchen was a cosy space, I suppose. It was no bigger than the average dining room table. All wood, with only one counter and four cupboards. The sink was smaller than my mother's waist. It could take about two plates, or a single cup,  but nothing more than that. There were a few dishclothes draped hapazardly over the counter. A microwave, a toaster, but no oven. Each slice of apple fell against the counter with a wet, meaty thud.

"Mum." I didn't think she had noticed me, but she didn't jump when I spoke. The knife continued meticulously.

"I've told you not to linger," my mum said. Her topknot had a few loose strands of hair that fell neatly into her face, a messiness that was entirely curated. When I was eight, my mum decided that she wanted to start fashioning my sisters' hair into something more manageable. There had been brushes and softening conditioners and combs and pretty clips purchased en-masse. It had been a week of howling and tears-- I had hid whenever a brush was forced upon Athena who cried something fierce whenever she was set upon. How did lions bathe their cubs, with all their teeth and claws, with more gentleness than my mother? She had moved onto her own hair shortly after. Less tears. "You're not a church mouse. Make yourself known."

"Sorry," I said. An instinct. My mum glanced over her shoulder, sharply.

"Don't apologise." I had never been to a church before. Mum wore a cross, though she had never been particularly religious. We prayed, certainly, but only to those that my mum thought held any worth; guardians, mostly. Protectors. Religion was treated like a buffet-- choice was privileged. I wonder if the cross had once been a comfort to mum's clients. A holy symbol, a promise that she wasn't some damned charlatan selling them lies. Oh, no, mum's readings had been as right as could be, with only little kernels of truth twisted to tell a prettier story. My mum could sniff out a fake with expert precision. It's in the hands, she had said. A real psychic keeps their hands neatly in front of them. A fake will wave them, attempting to distract whatever audience they had. Her hands held steady as she continued to slice into the apple. "What do you want?"

She wasn't using an apple slicer. There was one in the drawer, somewhere, unless it had been taken out and never found its way back. I fiddled open two drawers (the only two drawers) and found it sitting next to the scissors. The bottom drawer was always a nuisance to open. It slipped down from its hinge and sagged. I had to lift it upwards and slot it back, leaving the apple slicer on the counter. My mum didn't glance at it. I didn't comment on it, either. The silence around the slicer made me feel stupid, suddenly. Why had I gotten it out? She was doing just fine with the knife. She hadn't asked for it. She hadn't used it-- she hadn't even said anything about it. I picked it up and wrapped my hand lightly around the blade.

"I have a question." There was always a need to preface. To ramble. Athena said that I had a way of talking around words, as if I never really wanted to say anything. Funny, considering how much I enjoyed talking. There was so much to hate about silence-- people died in silence. Quietly, pathetically, alone. If I talked forever, maybe I'd never die. That could be the secret to eternal life. I twisted the slicer, feeling it brush against the underside of my palm. Mum set the apple down and began to soak the pieces in a bowl of vinegar. What should I do with the slicer? Putting it back into the drawer felt too clumsy. An admittance of defeat. I twisted it again.

"Well?" Mum sighed. She gathered up the skins and the core, throwing them in the small bin. It nearly overflowed from just that. I'd have to take it out later. Or now. It depended on how the conversation went. "Go on." It was almost late afternoon, though it was already growing dark outside. It looked like it would rain soon. We'd have to patch up the leaky hole in the tents. Maybe find a few more blankets. There was a strange, steaming fog on the windows that threatened to drip soon with rain. I shivered pre-emptively. "Cassie, you talk or you leave. You know this kitchen can't take the both of us for very long." Mum sighed then, glancing out of the window. "It's going to rain. Make sure that you keep your elbows warm and look both ways before crossing the road. Cars become violent in times like these." When she said something like that, it itched at my spine.

"I always look both ways."

Another sharp glance. "No," mum said, carefully. "No, you don't. Don't be a liar."

Everyone made mistakes, didn't they? Just because you didn't do something once or twice shouldn't mean you weren't allowed to claim an always. It was unfair, really, and rather prescriptive to say otherwise. I twisted the slicer. It brushed against my palm. Calla sometimes picked at the hem of her shirt, tugging on little strands of yarn that came loose. It was a terrible habit; I picked at the corners of my fingernails, which was far more elegant. "What's the scariest thing you've ever seen?"

Mum didn't talk much about the bad stuff. Even when drunk on Christmas wine, more affectionate and open than she'd ever been, mum lived in the good memories. Last Christmas, she had thrown an arm around my shoulders. Her arms were brittle and thin, belying the strength of them. Fingers had curled over my arm, plump with Christmas cheer. She had swooped down-- I had felt as if I was sharing in a secret. Against myself, I giggled, and she giggled in return, like she had stolen the noise from me. "Do you want to know about the Chardale Case?" she had asked. I knew that had been a bloody one, only half-solved, but I nodded regardless. Anything to keep my mother warm. Athena was nowhere to be seen. I knew, unholy and blackened, that if she had been, mum would have been telling this to her. I hoped she'd never appear again. But, in all fairness, I had drank my first cider; I would blame that for the blueing of my thoughts. "I was so young. Skinny," mum sighed. I told her she was still skinny, which she tutted at, but I knew warmed her. She recounted only the sweet parts of the story. The little girl with the red ribbons who had called my mother beautiful. Her first words since being rescued. The twin found in the snow, skin turning fairy-frost blue, saved at just the last minutes. A TV deal. I knew the gruesome details, but only because I had looked for them.

"We haven't even had lunch yet," mum sighed. She tilted her head upwards, watching as rain began to hammer against the window. "Look. I told you."

The sky had been grey all morning. "I'll take care of my elbows," I promised. My mum turned to look at me and there was a soft, fitful smile over her face. She wanted to be my mum again. There were always moments where she was just a mum, in the kitchen, trying to cobble together a dinner. There were mostly moments where she was someone else. I had no idea who that someone was-- she confused me, mostly. Her hands lifted to press against my cheeks, a hand smoothing down my messy hair. I should have brushed it before I came here.

"Why do you want to know something like that? It won't do you any good." She pinched my cheek. "You need to start using that cream I gave you. Your skin's too dry. Do you want it to get all chapped? You're not made for this weather."

"I just want to know. I'm... curious. You always said curiousity was a good thing."

Mum sighed her mum-like sigh. She pulled me closer into the semblence of a hug, all body parts and no warmth. The slicer slipped and ripped through my palm. It was a sudden, burning pain. I knew it would scab. Scar, most likely. Blood broke through the thin film of skin-- not much, but enough. It slid down my palm, splattering next to the mess of apple juice. Mum pulled back, confused at first, then noticing the stain of blood.

"Oh," I said. My voice felt distant. My mouth felt like it had been stuffed with cotton. "Oh, no." As if inspired by my words, the blood flowed faster, spilling over my shirt. Mum picked up a dish towel, inspected it for a moment, then picked up another. She pressed it tight enough against my hand that I hissed lowly. I still had the slicer in my other hand. I stared at it, noticing a little speck of my skin stuck between its teeth.

"What were you thinking? You shouldn't have been holding that." I shouldn't have been. Still, I resented that she was right. I tugged my hand a little bit from her grip, holding the towel there myself. I could feel my hand throbbing beneath the fabric, but I ignored it the best I could. I hadn't been hurt much growing up. Nothing past the usual maladies of scraped knees and a broken pinkie. There was nothing worse than that-- Athena had chipped a tooth once. She had wailed and wailed and wailed, despite the fact the dentist had assured us that the pain shouldn't have been that bad. I leaned against the fridge, which protested against my weight. It only came up to my hip. There was no freezer-- mum didn't believe in them. Unnatural. "Are you done bleeding?"

She asked like it was some inconvenience. I glanced at my hand, noting that the worst of it was over. Still, I wished I had bled for longer. Not an overly egregious amount, but enough to spread blood against the cupboards, to leave a little stain wherever I went. Mum cupped my palm for a moment; she fanned her fingers, cold and rough, across the back of my hand. There was a lightness to the touch-- she only held me for a second before she drew her hand away. "You're fine."

"I'm fine." My mum took the dishtowel from me and began to soak it in the water. I could see my blood spread out in a pool, little tendrils of it curling in the water. I took my gaze away from it. My mother began to tidy dishes away now that they had dried, throwing small looks at me until I began to help (my wound was now forgotten). "Mum," I probed. "Have you ever seen a demon?"

Here is the thing about demons: they don't exist. Except, you can't really say that about anything. Nothing really existed unless you could see it and only certain people could see it. The things that existed to me were different to the things that existed to Cleo. She saw futures that stretched beyond our lifetime, worlds that hadn't been created yet, if tomorrow's weather would be warm or cold. Her existance was one that ran deeper than mine; her life was buried below the ground, in the dank and empty spaces. In the dirt, in the fire, in the hot molten core of a beating heart. I saw the clouds and only believed them to be clouds; they did not tell me of any fortunes to come, though my mother would often ask my opinion of things. Clinically. I knew it was a test. I knew she wanted me to be something, to be stranger, to be like her. Everyone said we looked alike. The same hin lips, the same broken looking nose, the same curl to our shoulders. Sometimes, I shouted for Dad and he responded as if I was Mum.

But the similarities tripped to a stop eventually. I remembered what Nancy said: you two could pass for twins. I thought of the bags beneath my eyes, all smudged purple and too dark. I did not have wrinkles beside m eyes. Still, the way we echoed each other had been well documented (often by my mother's own hand, who had said in quite a few interviews that she knew I'd be just like her). Fuzzy old interviews with interviewers that wore pale beige suits, grinning into the camera with pink-salted lips. My mum always dazzled on those sort of things. She talked about dear Athena, who had already made such a name for herself. She talked about her little darling Cassie, who was far from who I was. If she hadn't said my name, I would assume there was a missing daughter. But the missing daughter did not exist; neither did demons. Unless you wanted them to, or unless you could see them. I shouldn't trouble myself with things that did not exist to me.

"You shouldn't trouble yourselves with those things," Mum said. She kept the corner of her eyes on me. I scratched around the cut on my palm, suddenly too itchy and warm all over. "Do you know what happens to young girls that turn over too many stones?"

"Yes, they-"

"They find nothing but ants and spiders." Mum shot her hand out, fingers waggling like an insect. I jerked back quickly, almost banging my head against the overhead light. Mum's cackle followed me. "Don't jerk away from me so quickly. I wouldn't hurt you." Despite the delight in her voice, I knew it would bubble into annoyance soon enough. I rocked back and forth on my feet-- I wanted to ask, again and again, until she caved. I had done the same when I was eight, begging for a puppy. Of course, there was no room for a puppy, no time to change one, no place for one in a home that constantly changed and shifted. But I had wanted one. I had convinced myself that a dog would change things. Mum would fall in love with it and Dad would spend more time with us-- and the puppy would be a chocolate sort of colour and we'd call him Button. Chocolate Button.

"Sorry," I said, pushed out between my teeth. It sounded like a cuss word.

"We don't have any oil," mum sighed. I knew the conversation had changed entirely from demons. I itched harder around my wound, watching the edges of it peel open. The oil was not an issue I could solve-- I drove, sure, but only when I was allowed to take the shitty van out. The nearest shop was just a five minute walk away, which I was thankful for (we'd been hours away from civilisation before, near a small cottage or farm that must be cleared out). I could walk to the shop. Buy the oil. I would, if she asked. But she wouldn't ask and Cassie wouldn't do it. "How are we going to cook the chicken?" A push. She wanted me to offer. I wondered if my mum had never seen a demon. Maybe that's why she didn't want to answer. Most of the places they visited were the usual haunts: ghosts, with a few poltergeists. Anything unusual could be seen as deadly, but that wasn't often true. Ghosts just wanted to be let go. Most of them didn't even want to be remembered anymore-- they were too old. They had been ehre too long. Freedom was the only thing they could imagine.

I scratched harder. There were demonologists that my mum respected, though they were few and far between. We might have owned books written by them once, but such trinkets were few and far between. We packed light and donated regularly. You could trace where we've been on the map through charity shops with weird items donated enmasse. I could do my own research into demons, but every person's encounter with the Other was unique. Whatever you saw was always the real thing. My mum had told me to believe blindly and wholeheartedly, because it is better to know too much than too little.

"What are we going to do?"

Behind us, I heard the door open. I kept my hand on my palm, pretending not to be interested. Maybe my sisters would comment on the wound-- I could use a plaster, really. Or just some attention for it. But the boots clambering through the tiny living room were too big to be any of my sisters. My father loomed in the doorway, ducking a little bit not to hit his head. He had salt and pepper hair growing through the sides, matting the black down. He had the face of an overly sad puppy, with wide eyes that were deep set and a smile that seemed to be too hesitant. He dressed in jumpers that my grandmother repaired, which meant that there were often holes still tugging open, a flimsy piece of yarn casting through it. Holding onto dear life. He carried a can of bug spray with him, but his hands looked limp around it. "Dear?" he said in his confused, distant sort of way. "Oh, hello, Cassie." My name always sounded careful in his mouth. I was always worried he'd call me by a different name.

Insha’Allah I think we’ll probably get together more and I’m planning to share stuff with them about their fundraising and art I’m doing in Ramadhan Insha’Allah, they come from these families of really strong, awesome women who started a lot of support systems and organisations and charity work for Muslim women in loads of different ways, women’s help escaping abuse, mental health support, career support, nurseries for underprivileged kids and so much more and I’ve always had this great respect and admiration for their mums/grandmother and they really get it too I mean that’s WHY they get it on some level and why I felt comfortable to share my Unicorn Feelings so yeah it’s been a long time since I felt so… comforted by a friendship ^_^ and it’s really heartwarming

My deconversion process was less “religion is homophobic so I’m out” and more “people around me are telling me God Hates Gays and also God Loves Everyone and I looked up these 179 reasons the Bible verses people draw on for homophobia don’t Actually mean that” when I figured out I was bi at 12 years old. Then I slowly started questioning the Bible more and finding more and more contradictions and uh. Three years and a couple panic attacks later I was an atheist. Honestly being a queer teenage atheist in a small town school was awful, so many kids tried to convert me, told me I was going to hell, advocated for LGBTQ genocide, etc. and there was no support outside of maybe three teachers. The school counselor actually told me my panic attacks were the Holy Spirit trying to bring me back to Jesus once.

And like, even as all this was happening, I was realizing how abusive my former church actually was - not only was it an apocalypse cult for a couple years, but it pressed a lot of toxic gender role stuff (like, hardcore Debbie Pearl/John Eldridge complementarian bullshit) still bubbles up in my traumatized lil brain every now and then. Still, leaving made my life so much better and I wouldn’t trade this freedom to actually be myself for the world.

ok anon thank you so much for asking this question because i have in fact recently fallen in love with lithuania, because they are such an interesting character! (also hhhh im so sorry for how late this is) 

Gender

As you may have noticed, I usually use they/them pronouns to refer to Lithuania. I hc them as being nonbinary and using he/they pronouns, though I personally prefer to use they rather than he in that case because. Idk what pronouns you use. But in my experience it’s really hard to get people to call you ‘they’ when you go by ‘he/they’ or ‘she/they’ or smth like that. Though I don't imagine any of the nations are very attached to their “birth gender” (are nations born???), lithuania is one of those who is a bit less attached. They’re just sort of there, in terms of gender. In my headcanons i also think this has something to do with religion, as lithuania was one of the last european countries to convert to Christianity- just because so much of gender as we know it comes from christianity and what people in the 16th and 17th centuries considered a ‘good’ christian. Thats not to say that there are no gender roles in other religions, but that the way westerners typically conceptualize gender has quite a lot to do with the religious conflicts occurring within christianity. Like you can trace the ideas behind the nuclear family archetype back to the protestant reformation. Additionally, I hc them as being Jewish, which further distances them from the western christian gender roles (though that’s not why i hc them as jewish! More on that later). Finally, i just like myself some trans/nb characters. There’s so few popular trans hcs and that makes me kinda sad ya know? Welcome to the trans agenda its just me projecting onto all my faves

Mental Health

Okay, so, i think it’s pretty well known that lithuania’s mental health is wack. They’re often characterised as being a very anxious person, but i think the ways in which they’re anxious is super interesting. For one, they are extremely conflict averse and like to avoid it by being a sort of people pleaser. It’s a sort of defense mechanism, because nobody can hate you if you do whatever they say. Like, if you let people be shitty to you, they won’t hate you for your personality. This is clearly flawed logic because then people are still going to be shitty to you, but. It makes sense to liet. In their mind, it’s okay to let people hurt if your reason is sound enough- Because if they’re not super emotionally engaged in a relationship that’s unhealthy for them, then they can’t get hurt, right? Of course, they can. A good example of this is their relationship with Russia. I think tolvydas sees compliance as necessary there, in order to avoid being hurt. The thing is…compliance is also hurting them, even if they see it as ‘worth it.’ To them, behaving in a submissive way is a survival tactic. A really bad one, but a survival tactic nonetheless. 

This also plays into their tendency to be self-martyring. I think Tolvydas is very good at fighting, and all around a really awesome warrior (strong aragorn energy), which makes them think that they need to be the one to save everyone. Hero complex, sort of. This, coupled with their almost maternal care for Latvia and Estonia, makes them feel like they have a sort of weight-of-the-world on their shoulders. Though Estonia and Latvia do look up to them a lot, Tolvydas can sometimes fail to realise that they are also their own people and can fight their own battles. He feels a sort of obligation to protect them due to their shared culture and languages as The Baltic Trio, though it doesn’t go much further than a sense of obligation. They spent most of their youth fighting, to the extent that that’s most of what Tolvydas personally knows as ‘life,’ but they never actually got to know the other two Baltics very well until the modern day. They have to protect, have to be a caregiver, but they don’t actually know super well the things they’re trying to protect. It’s both a sense of obligation to protect as well as the sense that this is all they’re good at and as long as they’re fighting for a morally just cause, that’ll do. 

I think something that would expose this flaw would be when they were first taken over by the Russian Empire in the 1790s, they were pretty miserable about a lot of things- Like the loss of all their territory and the sudden statelessness of their people- but a big one would’ve been the loss of Poland. This isn’t meant to be super shippy, but you know. They were united into one kingdom, and they had been for centuries, so i don’t imagine it was an easy separation. Though this is more up for debate where real people are concerned, these characters were essentially a big part of each other, ya know? Regardless of how much Lithuania actually likes Poland, they’re still a part of each other and that separation will undoubtedly be painful. Anyway, all that is to say that this separation was at the forefront of their mind during the beginning of the 19th century, and they let it sort of prevent them from taking care of the other Baltics. The issue with that is that they still considered themself to be protecting Estonia and Latvia, even though, in reality, nobody was. Also in reality, Lithuania was making themself out to be the worst off, and were generally sort of annoying to be around at this point in time. Their whole woe-is-me attitude wasn’t fun, and they were hypocritical in that they saw themself as being a better friend than they actually were. They still see themself as being a great friend, and though it’s improved in recent years, they’re still sort of. Flighty, i guess, where friendship is concerned. There was also a lot of annoyance by the other baltics about them being so self-martyring- Tolvydas was Ivan’s favorite, after all (that’s not necessarily a good thing, but. He was softer on them in certain ways). Anyway, I guess the big takeaway of this paragraph is that Liet often lets their self perception cloud the way they act in relationships. 

Much of the stuff I’ve mentioned so far is a result of them having quite a lot of PTSD. I think Lithuania’s character tends to be explored through a few common lenses, those being the medieval vibes of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and through being oppressed by the Russian Empire/Soviet Union. Not to say that there’s not a lot of other content about them, but this is what I see most often. I think that all the nations have some form of PTSD, but with Lithuania it’s very pronounced, and it’s made clear that a lot of their tendencies are a result of past trauma- Like the need to take care of others. This is likely originating with their childhood, as they grew up in a very violent environment where their survival was never guaranteed (survivor’s guilt much?) and violence was just the way of things. This is where the need to protect comes from. There used to be several more Baltic nations, though you could argue that now there’s only two- Lithuania and Latvia, as Estonia does not speak a Baltic language and would really like to be considered Nordic. 

Finally, Lithuania is also an interesting character where forgiveness is concerned. I think their sense of morality is very black and white, so some people (Feliks) will be easily forgiven where others (Ivan) will not. In reality, I think it would definitely be valid for Tolvydas to hate both of them, yet they don't- Because they decided that Feliks was a friend and Ivan was not. Both Feliks and Ivan care very deeply about them, but neither treats Tolvydas in a very good way. Of course, I’m aware that the situation in the Russian Empire/USSR and the Commonwealth were very different, but I’m talking about these three dudes and their relationships with each other beyond the lens of politics. Because Feliks tried to be their friend in a way that didn’t hurt them tremendously, and because. Look at them, Feliks isn’t 5’4 and can’t hurt you. They’re not an intimidating person and they’re not incredibly powerful like Ivan is. Though that’s not all of it- Feliks’ feelings for Tolvydas are definitely a purer, more selfless type of love than what Ivan feels for them- it makes it harder for Tolvydas to hold a grudge against them. Whereas for Ivan, their relationship was about control. He needed to control them as a way of expressing how he felt about them. He represents a lot of what Tolvydas fought against in their youth, so of course they hate him. Of course, I don’t think they like holding grudges. They want to be able to care for everyone, because they know that everyone deserves to be treated well and cared for and all that. You can't exactly do that if you hold a grudge against someone, so it actually kind of sucks for them when they see someone they hate suffering. It’s a sort of conflict of interest- The caregiving instincts vs the hatred for this person- and they often don’t know what to do in that situation. Usually they wind up helping but not happy about it. They just don’t want to see others suffer, despite the fact that they dislike this person (Russia is of course the exception. They don’t want to help him at all anymore). 

Relationship with family

So, this is a bit of an interesting topic. I think the Baltics consider themselves family just because of what they’ve been through together, but they’re not actually blood related. Though they share similar cultures, and languages, they’re just not related. Maybe Lithuania and Latvia are cousins, but yeah. Lithuania sees themself as the head of their little family, as they have the oldest surviving European culture and language. They sometimes get in their head about that, and can act like both a mom friend and a mom who is bad at mom-ing. It’s a sort of self appointed thing, and can be really annoying to the other two. They don’t pay the utmost attention to their fellow Baltics, and are more concerned with physical well being than emotional well being, so, despite establishing themself as a caretaker, do not wind up actually caring for the other Baltics in the ways they need to be cared for. 

Fighting style

So, as I’ve mentioned, Lithuania is a talented fighter. They go hard as shit, and can very much kick your ass. I think they prefer to be very technical about how they fight, with something boring like a broadsword as their weapon of choice, but are not afraid to fight dirty. Like rip off an ear with their teeth kind of playing dirty. I think they take fighting very seriously. Though Lithuania as we know it is only about 800 years old, I think Tolvydas is much older. The definition of a nation (a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory, according to the oxford dictionary) does not require there to be a central governing body, so I think it’s quite possible for Lithuania to be well over 2000. Anyway, all that is to say that they didn’t grow up in medieval times, so by the time they’re like. Achieving dominance in Eastern Europe, they’re already very old and well versed in many different styles of fighting. In the modern day, I think they’ve learned more different fighting styles from other parts of the world, but will always fall back on the way they learned how to fight in ancient times. 

Religion

So as I mentioned earlier, Lithuania is Jewish in my headcanons (orthodox, specifically. I think they're kinda traditional). I have a couple reasons for this- There has been a historical presence of Ashkenazi Jews in Lithuania, going back to the 13th or 14th century, and this is due to certain legal protections granted to Jewish people under pre-Commonwealth law. They were legally on similar footing to the average free people of Lithuania, and were able to create a slightly more prosperous community than Jews in other areas of Europe. This was also affected by the Black Plague of the 1340s. Orthodox Jews tend to put a high value on cleanliness, and often have two sinks in their houses (my childhood home, for example, had two sinks, and i lived in a majority jewish area). They also happened to be concentrated in Eastern Europe, due to the protections. Because of this, Eastern European Jews have some of the highest sruvival rates for the Black Plague and actually brought up the survival rates of the region as a whole- Though this also resulted in some intense antisemitism, as many Christians blamed Jewish people for the plague even happening, due to their higher survival rates. Despite various expulsions  and the loss of legal rights, the Jewish population remained relatively steady up until world war 2. Jewish people made up about 10% of the total population of Lithuania in 1941, and 45% of the total population of Vilnius. (To put this in perspective, the entire world population is only about 0.2% Jewish). Anyway, all this is to say that it’s not out of the question for Lithuania to be Jewish. 

Extras/Fun stuff

Lithuania loves reading, especially the fantasy/fairy tale genre. It makes them nostalgic without the trauma of reading historical fiction. 

They’re also very musically gifted, and can play the piano, bass, ukelele, and flute.

So, I come from a pretty narrow minded society and here it's considered a sin to be homosexual or to even even support them. I don't understand why it is so. I see everyone as humans deserving of love and respect regardless of their preferences but, I've seen some people be extremely mean to them. However, recently I found out that some people can't 'support' LGBT for religious reasons yet they 'respect' LGBT. (I heard it's a way to show that they're not dangerous to the LGBT community).

So is it disrespectful if I can't support them because of my community but respect their decisions and preferences?

First off, huge disclaimer that I am not good explaining my thoughts so if I also come across as rude, I am just very awkward and trying my best 🧍‍♂️

Uh, someone correct me if I’m wrong if theres any religion that actually has that as a “rule” or something, (im not religious sorry :<) but based on what I know, that is just homophobia.

Respecting someones preferences, pronouns, sexuality, etc. is a good thing but imo its not enough. Though I understand some people can’t actively support the queer community given the circumstances of where they live (like if you live in a country super homophobic), Support is needed because the lives of queer people aren’t going to get any better if you turn a blind eye to all the fucked up shit homophobes with power put us through. Honestly, I find what people have told you complete bullshit because even if you respect someone’s pronouns or sexuality or whatever, you can still make matters worse for us by choosing to not support the community. Not supporting us basically means actively putting us at more risk. Letting exclusionists oppress us even more than we already have been (and in some countries it already goes as far as killing queer ppl) so uh, I think you should totally disregard whatever those ppl told you and support the LGBT community :))

if you live in a very homophobic country you can still support us in small ways!!!

if your friend comes out as queer, be their emotional support!!! living in homophobic households can be taxing to our emotional and mental health and people need a place to be themselves sometimes. let them talk about their crush or vent or honestly it doesnt have to be a topic about being part of the community. treat them like any other friend and let them talk about what they like. even if you don’t understand. the fact that you try is enough

if you can, inform people about sexualities and stuff. a lot of people actually dont know about these things so its nice to spread information :))) even if its through social media liek this one big hellsite

as someone who's been raised catholic i just want to say that she is pretty wrong about almost everything she said about catholics, and i say that as someone who hates catholicism with my whole mind body and soul and who's been traumatized by this stupid fucking faith to the point where i can't get into a church without breaking into sobs dauihdasiuh. the catholic guilt is real but catholics are absolutely allowed to divorce and use contraceptives, and also have sex before marriage. the first one is met with some guilt esp from women altho honestly i think it's more due to mysoginist reasons than religious reasons, and the second and third ones are commonpractice and if you say that it's wrong and bad everyone will think you're a fucking weirdo

and even with the divorce thing, while the guilt is there (im pretty sure half the reason my mom doesn't divorce is because she would feel guilty about it, although again, i feel like that's got very little to do with religion and way more with internalized mysoginy), i cannot stress enough that divorce is allowed, almost everyone i know has divorced parents and they're all catholics. the church's official position is kinda weird (as of now pope francis basically said that it's "morally necessary" in some cases but he also referred to ppl who divorced and remarried as "imperfect", but like, it hasn't been forbidden for years, so much so that people get second marriages at catholic churches literally all the time, and i kinda feel like ppl overestimate how much ppl care about what the pope says. at least here in latam, cuz we've always kind of freestyled religion since it was imposed on us anyway, but like... in my experience the average catholic practitioner is INCREDIBLY less conservative than the vatican and i feel like most people don't even know what the pope says or doesn't say. and i'm saying that as someone whose grandfather almost became a priest and only gave that up because he fell in love with my grandmother, and he's been a ferverent catholic his entire life. also two of his kids divorced, one married a divorced woman, one is gay and living together without marriage with his divorced boyfriend, one never married, and one had two kids before marriage which necessarily means that they fucked, and none of that was ever a problem to him. oh, also, my dad had divorced AND he was a buddhist when him and my mom married. currently he is a spiritist)

i think it might be possible that u technically have to ask for "permission" to the church to remarry in church, but in practice i think it's more of a ritualistic thing than actually asking for permission, cuz i've never met a single person who had them say no. it was pretty much "hey local bishop guy so my husband sucked and we divorced can i marry again" "sure lol". obviously it sucks that you even have to ask, but it's nowhere near as strict as people seem to think

3. Mage Orphan who has no relatives/family/home/ or friends to return could stay with College of Enchanters with other mages.

4. No more children will be kidnapped from the parents, no more mother who will lose their mage baby again because the templar and chantry ripped their baby away from their arms, never again.

5. New Generations of Mages kids who never have to endure torture and abuses in the circle, they can grow up in a safe and happy environment with their family or with the college.

6. Mages actively participated in society, and they can invent a great many things for Thedas modernization and advancement, remember Zither? He’s a mage and he uses his magic to play in a band, imagine the possibilities of Thedas technology-magic advancement with unrestrained magic, boi based on the newest leak, it seems like Arlathan was a magical cyberpunk empire. 

7. As a free citizen, many mages abilities/ skill can be implemented for different kinds of jobs, hey remember Lysas who wanted to be a mage farmer? Agriculture in Thedas could be improved with magic, Medication, and medical studies could be greatly modernized with magic, not to mention fashion, opera/plays, and music, hell even professional chef jobs will be much easier with magic, The inquisitor used telekinesis/spell to fixes broken bridges, and lit a veil fire are another example that magic could be used for mundane stuff and not just for

8. College of Enchanters definitely would be a steadfast ally for The Inquisition and The inquisitor, and not to mention that the Inquisition new operations area would be in the north/Tevinter, mages would be able to help greatly.  9. With templar order gone forever in southern Thedas, then there will be no more people who are force feed lyrium and suffer from lyrium addiction to the point they become a beggar because they wasted all of their coins for lyrium. 10. So mages now are free, no more circle, then what’s the point of templar or seeker anymore? Actually Seeker, circle and templar are never needed, then how southern Thedas  should handle with magic related crime or just crime in general, well I’ts easy, you see mages guard in Tamriel world? You know those guards in Skyrim? Or guard/law enforcer in Warcraft world who use magic? With mages free they also can work as guards

TEMPLAR AND CHANTRY COMMITED MORE CRIMES FOR THE PAST 1000 YEARS MORE THAN ANY PERSON DID, THE TEMPLAR AND CHANTRY MURDERED, ENLSAVED, TORTURED AND IMPRISON PEOPLE ALSO SUPPORTED GENOCIDE FOR 1000 YEARS!  IF WE CALCULATED NUMBERS OF PEOPLE WHO DIED BY THE CHANTRY ORDER AND TEMPLAR SWORDS, IT’S MORE THAN FREAKING MILLIONS!  ANDERS DID WHAT HE DID TO FREE THE MAGES AND FUTURE MAGES CHILDREN, SAME THING WITH FIONA  AND THE MAGES WHO REBELLED TO FREE THEMSELVES AND  FOR THE FUTURE OF MAGES, THEY ALSO REBELLED FOR FUTURE MAGES FREEDOM, THEY REBELLED FOR THE FREEDOM OF PEOPLE (because unlike what noodle and chantry said and spread, mages are PEOPLE!) so what are you saying again? The chantry lied about Shartan, the chantry fucking lied about Ameridan, if there’s one IRONIC TRUTH about the chantry, they lied, they twisted story and histories for their political power and their gains.

the whole ‘magic must serve man and not rule over him’ was purposely misinterpreted to fucking justify drakon fucking fanfic holy book, and his campaign to conquer the rest of Thedas. And the chant verses were twisted as a stupid and terrible justification to demonize and enslaved mages and elves in circle towers. 

In a nutshell that chant actually said that magic is a gift that should not be used for terrible deeds. But andrastian changed the meaning and twisted their own prophet words to enslave and oppressed southern mages.

The chantry believes about Everything that related to the fade/spirits/ or demon are dangerous and inherently evil, I ALWAYS LAUGHED MY ASS OFF, whenever templar/chantry/andrastian/non mages spouting hateful shits about the fade and spirits, it’s incredibly ironic, because there’s an implication that ALL PEOPLE who were not made by Titans (dwarves was made by titan) were spirits from the fade who ‘created body from the earth’ after they descended to the material world.

The evanuris, first of elven people, Solas and his people were spirits, it can be safely assumed that modern elves, humans and qunari in their truest form are spirits as well. 

 I think during his personal quest, All New Faded forFor Her, Aka The Dreadwolf Fen’harel, Solas has explained the truth about what human, elves and qunari truly are and what is their true form would be once they are died ( if they are not a remarkable person then they will simply be lost to the fade )

But if The fade can be bend and shaped by powerful dreamer/mages/ dreams and believes of people. That means...Demons were also created by The chantry ignorant and hateful propaganda. If many people believed that spirits are dangerous or ‘they are demon’, that spirits and the fade are scary then that’s how they will manifest.

Now about Solas and the veil, we might speculate to our heart content about Solas plans and what he might do in the future, but to be honest, truth to be told, NO ONE EXACTLY KNOW what is his actual plan for the evanuris, for the blight, for titans and to tear m down the veil. We only have morsels of information about his plans from trespasser, and Tevinter night (also from the leaks).  Who knew maybe Solas plan will ironically save the world? Doomed it? Saved some people? Only doomed half of the world? Will the world end? Or survive?  Now i want all magic to come back but without have to kill millions of people in Thedas, Because it will solve non-mages vs mages problem, everybody will be mages and the centuries of problems will be solved, not to mention that with the minuscule amounts of magic Thedas physical world now have, people seemed to slowly devolving, being cut from magic of the fade is not only horrible for mages but also for non- mages (Because the fade is the sources of power and life itself, not to mention that Solas referred to it as ‘The sea of souls’ in Tevinter Nights)  Here’s the thing, with or without Solas even waking up from his long sleep, i think The veil will be destroyed either way, here’s the evidences that supported my theories (But i still have no idea about What exactly will happen just like many other people out there ) Sandal Prophercy:  “Sandal: One day the magic will come back. I was okay-ish w twn when i had only read the stories depicted in it, but having read the entire series im endlessly like “why are nilfgaardians religious fanatics? why is fringilla vigo doing blood magic? why is cahyr so old? why are they both so evil? why is vilgefortz a man of color? seriously w h y. “yeah we’re gonna have characters of color.... primarily as villains! diversity!”. who thought that was a good idea?”

agreed. i don’t even like nilfgaard (i don’t think anyone does, except maybe the same people who enjoy wwii history) but the way nilfgaard as a whole and the nilfgaardians as characters (i am so fucking sorry cahir) were treated was incredibly cringey. especially because sapkowski made them seem so human, it really struck me as depicting imperialism very realistically, because it’s violence by humans onto other humans, humanizing both sides in the narrative doesn’t mean sympathizing with both sides in the narrative, specifically in the witcher it was significant to me that the nilfgaardians were not treated as a homogenous evil group (many of the characters we meet have dissent or dislike of the empire, but live in it and serve the emperor anyways) and emhyr himself wasn’t a maniac or horrific, he was just a stern and calculating ruler. it makes for a much interesting antagonistic empire, because you can develop imagination of what it’s like. plus all of the nilfgaardian characters become so much more than their nationality and background and sometimes they even are not nilfgaardian. i’ve spoken before about cahir and fringilla but something i appreciate about both of their characters in the series is how morally grey they are and they just seem, like most of the characters, lifelike, doing both good and bad over the course of the series, and strongly influenced by the powers that surround them (the empire, their upbringing, their friends, their goals)

and yeah singling out “people who practice a strange mysterious religion,” a black actress, and a mauritian/indian actor as The Very Evil Guys is... not ... good...

What’s their alignment?: Vey is definitely chaotic good. Like... i toyed with all the alignments and in the end, they’re a good person, but they go about it in a very chaotic and disastrous manner and not always within the confines of what one would call... Morally acceptable. But they’re good in the end.

Which one of the 16 Personality Types do they fit into?: God uh. brb lemme google. ONE GOOGLE SEARCH LATER... i think Vey would be ISTP? idk man. just seems like the one that’s them.

What are their hobbies and interests? Do they have any particular “favorites” (food, books, and so on)?: okay well! their hobbies are mainly tinkering with robots and technology. that would be their main hobby. they also like to gather flyers that get put up around Pandora, just as sort of like... a scrapbook or newspaper-esque thing. it helps them feel like they’re Up To Date on the world (when they’re really, really not).

favorite food would likely be grilled skag steak. they can’t afford to be picky, not really, and skag is a pretty easy food source. and they like growing their own plants, so they grow herbs and can season their food really well!

favorite books would be anything on technology, robotics, programming, and artificial intelligence, whether or not they’ve read the books!

What are they bad at?: reading people, understanding tone and body language, expressing their emotions properly. they’re also bad at writing when it comes to creative stuff. they have TRIED. lord they have tried, but Jack ends up laughing so hard he has to phase back into the ECHO eye and Zane has in fact burned some of Vey’s writing.

they’re also really bad at singing (but they still do it and they enjoy it) and they’re SO bad at dancing (two left feet type of bad) (and at Hammy and Winny’s wedding, Zane and Vey try to dance together and Zane just says Absolutely Not My Toes Already Hurt Go Dance With Jack)

What kind of things do they dislike/hate?: they definitely dislike certain textures of food. they’d never eat calamari, for instance, just because of the texture. anything less than well done when it comes to meat, they can’t eat. they dislike the texture of cooked veggies.

they really, really dislike the color yellow. after years of being employed by Hyperion and being stranded on Pandora has made them practically despise the color.

they hate dealing with bandits and psychos. they speak broken bandit and they just find it so tedious to deal with and avoid it at all costs.

while they love AIs and robots, they have a special hatred for Loader Bots, if only because of the horrifying restrictions Hyperion put on their bots (regarding sentience etc)

anyway ofc they’re mentally ill because i am also. they got the good ol’ adhd and depression and anxiety and probably abandonment issues. good for them.

What are their goals and motivations?: they want to one day create an Artificial Intelligence from scratch, as a companion, and build an android body for that AI. but with Jack in their life, they’ve put the AI on hold and are just focusing on building functioning android bodies. it’s very fun for them!

they’re also motivated by their own curiosity, once they have the means off Pandora. they want to explore the galaxy and find new technologies and such, to see if they can find anything that might contribute to their goals.

What are their manners like? Any habits?: manners are... so-so. it’s like, they treat everyone as an equal until proven otherwise. some people might get more respect than others (like Lilith, for instance, gets called Ms. Lilith no matter how hard Lilith tries to talk Vey out of it) and some people just get dismissed. but in general Vey tries to be kind if not neutral; especially neutral BECAUSE they have such a difficult time reading people and understanding other peoples’ intentions behind their words.

What are they most afraid of?: besides spiderants? probably being alone for the rest of their life, or not accomplishing their dream. which, to them, are the same fear. if they can’t accomplish their dream, they’ll be alone for the rest of their life.

Did a take a test to figure this out? Why yes, yes I did. ISFP-T, or Adventurer is what I got for Archer.

He sure does, but he doesn’t really know what it is. He mostly just thinks he’s going literally insane. It’s a pretty big reason for him not sticking around people very much even though he craves affection.

No not really, Archer has a hard time, now more than ever trying to keep his simple life together, he’d prefer it not change as much as possible.

Yes, very. Probably because he works with animals a lot, and its very important to notice their body language, so he can read people and situations pretty well. Plus he’s more of a sniper so being observant is important.

He was really proud when he finished building his house, and all the furniture for it.

He doesn’t get jealous very easily, but even when he does he doesn’t bring it up. He’ll sulk around a bit, and when asked he’ll say he fine. He wont really feel bad about if? Its just an emotion, it happens sometimes.

Seeing people hurt animals for no reason. He will throw down. Might not win, but its the thought that counts.

He got some damn big emotional problems, and he recognizes some, like his slowly diminishing will to live. But things like his urge to have someone else control his entire existence he doesn’t really realize are problems.

Everyone starts off with a set amount of respect. You either get more or have it taken away depending on your actions.

Any space in his mind that was supposed to be used for math and literacy etc. is now storage space for little facts about the people he cares about. He will remember. so in about 12 to 16 years, i am running for president. i do not believe the world will have ended then, though i do believe things will be different. hoping for better, not, not expecting worse. our system is broken. all of the systems are broken. the government is corrupt. the justice system is corrupt. those in charge are turning blind eyes, covering things up, and allowing the fall of our country. i will not be surprised if a civil war commences; although i'm also thinking they are going to really create and push for a purge. we are in real trouble then. that just goes back to what i said, are you standing for something or dying for nothing?

people were excited for biden to win. and i have to say, i was not one of them. biden seems like another puppet to me. obama was a puppet. he was his vp. crazy how biden is president and he has a black female vp now. that sounds like a win huh? wrong, she contributed to the failed prosecution of the officers who murdered Oscar Grant. that went over everyone's head during the election though. trump was just so bad had to get him out. biden is anti LGBTQ+. everyone wanted to put it on trump folks getting rowdy and such however, biden won and nothing changed.

trump's slogan was "make america great again." personally, i think he could have. trump's a businessman and to say the least, entertainment. they gave trump four years, why do you think they didn't renew his contract? because he was playing them. trump is a classist. he doesn't like poor people. personally, i think he just believes hardwork pays off, his did and so he just holds everyone to the standard he held himself. there are circumstances, however i think that's fair. he said all this racist shit everyone got mad. yet, he won by a landslide because the country said they would still rather this "bigoted, racist, sexist, classist asshole" than a woman. then the country complained the whole time. he exposed america and instead of society shining light and doing something they continued to do what we have been doing; pointing blame.

the system has failed us. the system failed us a long time ago. all trump did was present a call to action. the one thing i can give rednecks is they patriotic as fuck. they want the america they invision type shit. i feel like melanated people in general struggle with that because america never felt like home. america never wanted us here. but the fact of the matter is, this all we know. this is home now. there are 3 real options. 1. go back to where your bloodline stems. 2. sit and conform, hope they dont get you. 3. defend your rights, your home, and your people; come out on top or die trying. you have to pick something though. we have to do something because they those set to protect us are out to get us.

we do not have a democratic government not even a representative democracy like we once thought. sorry if you were today years old when you found out. we operate out of a republic; a constitutional federal republic. what's the difference? in a democracy, all that voting that we do, matters.  even if it was a representative democracy. we would have representatives to disclose our decisions. the electoral college makes final decisions on elections.

a constitutional federal republic means that the constitution which is the law of the land governs the land. if this is the law of the land, why do we have sub laws? the constitution needs to be amended. want to fix the race and inequality issues? let me tell you how, real easy fix. call a convention. take out any amendment that gives rights to people AND reword the beginning anyway folks see fit so that women and americans from all ethnic backgrounds get the same level of respect and rights. there will always be an unspoken division until things like that are rectified. before black people got rights we were not even counted as complete people, simply 3/5s of a person. life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. these are unalienable rights. my very existence guarantees me these rights.

the judicial system coupled with the criminal law system are hopeful, and still in need of reform. prisons are privately owned institutions, which are supposed to be forms of rehabilitation. instead, they are condemning people and treating them inhumanely; creating the same environment they were in on the outside, on in the inside conditioning them to be stuck in these ways as means of survival and then continue to place blame on them. officers need to take crimes more seriously. people are people, bias, prejudices, and profiling have no place in the workplace. officers are corrupt, arresting kids for selling, who just are trying to help their mother with the bills, then turning around and selling it back out on the streets. officers are wrongfully convictind and killing predominately (as far as the media is broadcasting) though not only melanated people. on top of that, they are walking free. lives are being lost and they arent even losing their jobs. tax dollars are going towards keeping them safe. however, if a civilian shoots a cop. up the river for them.

lawyers aren't fighting hard enough. especially defense attorneys. it is fairly simple to get a conviction with the right information, proving innocence is always a bit more complicated. the problem is that attorneys get too big eyed. they looking at how to get their clients off, accountability is another taboo in this society. there are a multitude of people who are innocent behind bars, as well as those who received heinous outrageous sentences. that is not right.

people factor more than necessary when trying to make a decision, yet they ignore the things that remind them a person is human. its this art contest over who can paint the best picture of the defendant. which story is easy for a jurors bias to sway? how people look matters. and it shouldn't. our government since the building of america, has created dividing markers.

just like with royal kingdoms, the wife couldn't have things of her own. her role was cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids, and whatever else was asked of her. if there was a divorce, the woman got nothing. they had no rights. imagine being the first born as a female in a royal family and being told you can't have your kingdom, correction you can but you must marry to get it. then if you get married the new king running things not you. what is that? its called patriarchy. our government is run off a patriarchy as well.

so i never really believed there could be like a true separation of church and state because every law and decision made was based on people's morals and beliefs. there is supposed to be a separation of church and state yet, due to people's religious beliefs gay marriage had to get legalized, despite there being no law for heterosexual marriage. would that not make it illegal? since gay marriage had to be legalized though there was not a law for it either? then on top of that, how do you make it a law, and still for religious reasons, ministers and such can refuse? there are always stipulations and hinderances for the rights of those who are not white men.

ABORTION: i really do not know why we are still having this conversation. its literally conversations like this that have me looking at americans like--- seriously? once again there should be a separation of church and state. so religion cannot be a reason to outlaw it. how can you put out a law that dictates what someone can do with their body? all of life, i mean every part of life should be pro-choice. its just that simple. Pro-Choice. i am all for the right to decide for yourself. and men want to feel a way about women making that decision on their own. and while i do stand behind the fact that ultimately it is the womans decision, that does not mean she can't listen to an opinion. it is a part of the woman, literally grows inside of her an entire being. and fathers can just dip out and folks will just look at the mom and suddenly she should just become super woman. the pressure that comes with having a child is enough on its own. like thats a being that is dependent on you. some people are honest with themselves and know they arent ready or dont want it. all they need is support. the mental toll life takes on us is huge as well. still people do not consider that at all.

there is no point of incarcerating people, if they have still lost a chance at a decent life once they get out. jail is for rehabilitation. they go, do their time and then they are supposed to be allowed to try again. our government knows nothing of redemption, that's why all the top leaders go through so much to hide their dirt. they crucify civilians trying to make themselves seem superior, really they are just like you and i. almasi for president. im going to save the world.
