Yesterday and the day before i forgot to post the task i said i wanted to post proof of, the reason was that while Adhd was kicking me down, that wasn’t much of an issue lmao. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THIS VALENCIAN TEXTBOOK IS HARD TO TACKLE SINCE THE VOCABULARY AND OTHER THINGS LACK AUDIO OR EXPLANATIONS. Probably meant to be used in a language classroom, so im still tackling it down (thankfully the lessons are short).
Also the main reason it will take me longer is cuz i focus too much on making it all pretty, knowing that i wont really look back and this notes, might just write normally and call it a day. Also i will try to either recreate or use a part of an exercise and record it, that way i also practice each language and we can compare as time passes.
In an hour or so i will post the Valencian proof post, Russian*, Japanese**and Korean*** later on since they aren’t that complex.
*i still don’t know if i want to use Russian cursive or stick to block character but otherwise i already mastered the alphabet. Currently using the Teach yourself book (quite good imho)
**As for Japanese, i already know hiragana and katana but no kanjis, since im slow at writing in this language, i don’t know if i will be able to do two units and maybe i will just stick to one and focus on reviewing the vocabulary, i will see. Using the same book for this one as for Russian.
***Korean will include and be mainly about hangul and maybe some vocab/exercises since the textbook i use aint that good. (Might have to find another source for it)

moo in so conflicted
eventually i want to at least try to be fluent in spanish korean and polish but i wanna start learning at least 2 now
i’m learning spanish in school and i’m going to have my friends mom teach me because she’s actually fluent and my teacher is not and he’s a horrible teacher i can’t stand him
BUT i also wanna learn a second language simultaneously because i’m bored out of my mind and it looks good on college apps
so i’m looking into korean because hangul is so fun and i consume a lot of korean media, plus since it’s a different alphabet, most americans (at least non-korean americans) don’t choose to learn it so it’ll stand out
i think the standing out thing also applies to polish and i have a more sentimental connection to it since i’m very polish and i really wanna go visit one day and see where my great great grandparents lived and i also just think it’s a beautiful language, and a big part of wanting to learn korean is the media and being able to understand what i’m enjoying, but i also want to start listening to more polish music and watching more polish tv so i’m not sure
also! if you have a second (or third or fourth and so on) language you can speak what is it? do you have any languages you wanna learn? i think i want to learn romanian as well but that’s for the future for sure
I hear that after you learn your second language, it's much easier to learn more. If I were you, I'd focus on learning Spanish. Really get the hang of it, immerse myself in learning it to the point that Im practicing it every day. I wouldnt want to overwhelm myself with multiple languages at once, especially languages that are SO different from each other. I don't want to mix up rules, right?
Then, once I feel like I've got a good understanding of it, maybe to the point of being able to hold conversations, I'd maybe consider dipping my toes in another language.
I don't think learning one language at a time should be very boring, unless you're some kind of language learning machine and its not challenging enough for you. If that's the case, then you should learn it quickly enough that you can move onto the next one easy peasy without having to juggle two at a time. If it is boring, then maybe you should find new ways to make it interesting? Find some podcasts to listen to or do some fun writing/reading exercises/games. Listen to Spanish music and try to interpret it as you do, even write the lyrics down and then check the official translation online to see how well you did! Watch Spanish media with the subtitles off and see how much you can understand!
Find a way to make it fun!
After you get the hang of the act of learning a language, the world is your oyster! Learn Korean and Polish and German and Japanese and Cantonese or even Tamil!
Don't get too hung up on trying to achieve everything all at once. Learning languages is hard. It's something that you never really stop doing, even with your native language. It's gonna take time and for a while its going to be so frustrating, but eventually, if you stick with it, it'll all come together
And to answer your question, nah I don't know any language other than English. I took a semester of Spanish in college but it was at like 7 am in the morning and I didn't do like 100 of the online exercises. I'm pretty sure I only passed because my partner and I took it together and sat at the front of the class and participated with every lesson as a way to suck up for all the.... not doing of the homework.
I'd love to learn more languages some day though! Spanish would be my top because it seems the most useful here in America. But I'm really interested in Arabic and African languages. Like maybe Yoruba or Igbo. Japanese and Korean are obviously two that I'd really like to learn because of the whole media consumption deal. I would love to be able to watch anime or Korean media without subtitles. Oh and also ASL. I would looooooove to know how to use ASL
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in learning! Stick to it and don't give up! You can do it, I believe in you! 🌈🖤

historical context pt 2: on yi bang won’s brothers (and sisters), seon-ho and his father, women’s rights in joseon vs goryeo
a bit more focus on yi bang won’s family this time, since he’s always fascinated me as a real historical figure. he did a lot of good, but he committed a lot of terrible things in order to achieve the good and he’s always been a pretty polarizing figure to Korean historians. (the majority of them like him because he’s the father of Kim Sejong aka the King who invented the Hangul/Korean alphabet while the others are like ‘damn why this dude so murderous’)
yi seong-gye had six sons from his first wife and two sons from his second wife, but why are only like three of them mentioned in the drama?
- mostly because they don’t have any major relevance to the plot, tbh. yi bang won IS arguably yi seong-gye’s most talented/qualified son in a lot of ways. he really was the only son who passed the civil examination in that entire family.
Eldest Son Yi Bang-U
- yi seong-gye mentions him in the drama when discussing who should be named crown prince and dismisses him bc he’s an alcoholic. which was true, yi bang-won’s oldest brother WAS an alcoholic, but he only became so after Yi Seong-Gye seized the throne. he was so distraught by the rebellion that he literally retreated to the mountains and retired. imagine serving your dad and your country and then seeing him betray the very country you both spilled blood for your whole life?? he was granted a princely title, but otherwise stayed away from politics and the military until his death
Second Son Yi Bang-Gwa
- this is the dude who is currently king that appears in episode 14. the one who’s in the throne room while bang-won and bang-gan yell at each other lol.  basically he was just put on the throne bc he’s the second son (and the eldest was like don’t even contact me about this shit) and later in history he renounces the throne so yi bang-won can take it. he also had NO legitimate sons from his first wife (though he had many from his concubines, but they were all illegitimate and couldn’t become princes). meaning he was the safest choice to be bang-won’s puppet ruler. all in all he was supremely lucky in that he got to live in peace and avoid getting murdered by anyone
Third Son Yi Bang-Ui
- while he was on yi bang-won’s side during the first coup, he’s never mentioned in dramas/television because apparently he’s not all that interesting. he’s been described as someone who had a loving relationship with ALL of his brothers, which imo COULD have been interesting to see but what do i know
Fourth Son Yi Bang-Gan aka the One That’s Weirdly Comedic and Also Murderous and Has Like that Weird Sword Boner For Hwi
- bang-gan did in fact try to murder bang-won and seize the throne, but he was urged on to do so by a historical figure called park po who was bitter that all his efforts during the first coup were not recognized by bang-won. the most hilarious thing is that bang-gan is like “damn this is a great idea, im gonna do it” and sets an official date for murdering, and NEVER TELLS park po the day he’s gonna murder bang-won so park po is just hanging around in ignorance until bang-won arrests him and then has him executed
- bang-gan actually tells his father yi seong-gye and his second bother yi bang-gwa of his intentions and they BOTH tell him that he’s stupid as fck. at this point, the historical yi seong-gye is SICK of the fighting between his sons and tells bang-gan to stop (unlike in the drama when he purposefully eggs him on).
- bang-gan obvs doesn’t stop though, but his attempts are foiled bc bang-won knew of his coup beforehand. bang-gan is not executed and is instead sent away in exile. the fault of the coup instead lands on park po who again has no idea what’s occurring until he’s arrested. (damn it would suck to be park po, though inb4 seon-ho becomes the park po of this sageuk)
The Ill-fated Crown Prince Yi Bang-Seok and his brother Yi Bang-Beon
- in history, Yi Bang-Won forces his father to remove Bang-seok from the crown prince position during the coup, which Yi Seong-Gye IMMEDIATELY does in order to save bang-seok’s life (bang-seok is still alive at this point in time). unfortunately, bang-won then murders bang-seok anyway. (fulfilling the queen’s prediction that no matter what he would have murdered her sons)
- there are two versions of the crown prince’s death: the first is what we saw in ep 12 when he was assassinated right after stepping out in the palace. (this is the official record. his final recorded words are “my brother promised to spare my life, do not worry.”). there’s another version that yi bang-won went into the palace and threw his brother into a well to kill him. which is... not recorded, but yi bang-won’s side framed everything in the records to make him and his people look good. (because they were the winners!!! winners in history get to frame themselves however they want)
- so what about yi bang-beon? aka the queen’s other son that never gets mentioned? he gets murdered too of course!!! though bang-won is content with just exiling him, his brother bang-gan murders bang-beon (of course in the show, we see bang-won approving of the assassination). (Bang-beon also suffers from the unfortunate position of having a.) envied his younger brother for being crown prince and therefore did NOT alert him or his father about the upcoming coup and b.) trying to maintain a neutral position that ultimately got him killed
- btw, yi seong-gye was absolutely in the palace during the Strife. He never left to go to a Temple. he was dragged from his throne and forced to abdicate during the coup after stripping Bang-seok of his position as Crown Prince in order to save him.
The Sixth Brother
 - died at a relatively early age, sadly.
Sisters?!
- yes, Yi Seong-Gye had daughters!!! Two from his first wife and one from his second and two more from his concubines (yah he had concubines). sadly, nothing else is known about them. Queen Sindeok’s daughter aka Bang-seok and Bang-beon’s younger sister outlived both of her older brothers, and died maybe nine years later. (somewhat comforting, but ultimately sad.)
- Bang-won’s sisters lived a little longer, but ultimately they had little historical relevance (or they did and the records refused to record them bc they were just Women). mostly, they were just married off to build political alliances
more on seon-ho
- there’s a scene in ep 5 where bang-won makes fun of seon-ho’s bastard status and compares him to Sambong and i just want to say that imo this is very realistic of bang-won. Sambong is an incredibly important and vital figure in history -- he served as yi seong-gye’s aide and was actually the mastermind behind ALL of yi bang-won’s social/political reforms. unfortunately, yi bang-won murdered him because.... uh.... he wanted to carry out those reforms HIMSELF, essentially. (no one else gets to do it but ME!!) he disliked sambong strongly, and there were rumors that sambong was descended from bastards/had slave blood in his family, so Bang-won sneering at Seon-ho for essentially having the same background would be legit. the line where he mentions that “in his country, bastards will never gain status” is so sad... and also true, even though he introduced the new Slave Law (that law was immediately repealed later)
- in other words, illegitimate children from nobleman + slaves were still eventually barred from taking the government exam and owning property in joseon. seon-ho’s fate would have more or less remained the same.
Seon-ho’s father Nam Jeon
- is a fictional figure, but his status as Yi Seong-Gye’s aide in the show cooouullld place him as the stand-in for the actual Nam Eun who was one of Yi Seong-Gye’s trusted aides and who was also killed by Yi Bang-Won
- the difference here is that Yi Bang-Won regrets murdering Nam Eun after and gives government positions to Nam Eun’s friends as like a way of apology lmfao
women’s rights in goryeo vs joseon
- just wanted to talk about this because hee-jae is such a kickass figure, but the long and short of it is that women lose all the rights (what little they had) in joseon vs in goryeo. they’re forbidden to step outside their homes after marriage, are NOT allowed to mingle with the other sex, they lose their rights as land-owners and property-inheritors, and Confucianism gains a huge foothold in a country that already treats women as second-class citizens. they weren’t allowed to re-marry if widowed, and were encouraged to kill themselves if they were assaulted or harassed so like....... life continues to suck for bastard children and ladies
fun fact for that (1) Legitimate Child that Yi Bang-Won Allowed to Live
- in my last post I mentioned that Yi Bang-Won killed the children of the “traitors” who conspired to prevent his coup except for Sambong’s eldest son, who was demoted (name: Jung Jin). Fortunately, this son managed to rise through the ranks of the government again and became the Minister of Justice under Yi Bang-Won’s reign.

can I ask how did/how are you learning Korean? im curious bc I wanna learn an asian language but it's p different from English so idk
okay so originally my friend bought me a korean textbook and i was like ‘i’m gonna be fluent in korean if i work through this whole book!!!’ but no, i learn by listening so that was actually a really bad idea lol but!! i did learn hangul (the korean alphabet) from that book
i then moved on to using duolingo which i highly highly recommend as it judges your skill set and gives you questions based on that and it literally teaches everything from the basics (i’ve also started chinese and japanese on duolingo but they’re pretty hard lol)
but the only problem with duolingo is that they teach the direct translation, not how/why it translates to that?? so i did also have a korean teacher for a period of time (only a couple months) and she pointed out to me what the patterns were and she also got me in touch with a korean person my age so i could practise my skills with her
overall as well, i’d say it’s so good to keep watching kpop videos and k-dramas!! and i’m so happy i did do that cause now i can watch videos and (mostly) understand without subtitles!!

Asking this for me and other followers. How did you learn Korean?
alskhslhdgsl i by no mean have learned Korean. I am learning Korean. I am maybe at the level of a 5 year old right now. Pretty much i learned hangul and some simple phrases before i went to Korea so then i didn’t like die. While I was in Korea i took a class with the university i was working for and learned more basic phrases and words. I honestly learned the most from my Korean friends. Right now i am learning on my own with worksheets and apps i find online. I think that at least learning hangul is important if you are going to spend a significant amount of time in Korea. I got lost once with like no way of finding my way home but luckily i could read the bus schedule and found my way home. I implement our boys into my learning alot though because its a good way to learn anything. If you are interested in something and build it around learning it helps you keep the passion for learning whatever it is.
Under the cut is some tips and resources i use!
Learning Hangul ~ YALL. HANGUL IS SO EASY. like cmon. quit going on the their instas and romanizing “oppa saranghaeyo” it literally took me 2 hours to learn. I want to stop romanizing names one here but i know most people wouldn’t understand who i was talking about if i typed 순영  instead of soonyoung. I used this video to learn hangul before i left for korea and then to practice i would read instagram posts or fansite updates outloud. Like i couldn’t understand it but it helped with memorization and pronunciation of the alphabet. I also used to get the vowels mixed up since they look like this ㅗㅜㅏㅓㅠㅛ so for practice associating the sounds with things i would write the boys names all over my notebooks lol. im sure if a native speaker saw it there would think i was crazy for writing 민규 and 승철 over and over again but it honestly helped. I knew their names and i knew what sounds were suppose come from it.
Learning basic phrases ~  So i used just basic Korean Phrases videos on youtube and made little flash cards of them. It didnt help a ton but it helped a little with recognizing the things people said to me and how to respond politely. Remembering you are a guest in their country is very important. Most people speak some english but still they appreciate you trying to speak Korean instead of just saying the same english words over and over again.
Duolingo App ~ So honestly the app kinda sucks lol. The lessons go in weird orders and dont make a ton of sense to me. But it helps with practice for things you have already learned. I would recommend this after learning hangul in your own way.
Studyblrs ~ OKAY LISTEN. These help me so so so much. I follow like 3 korean studyblrs and seeing it in my dash honestly is so helpful. they also have lessons and flash cards and like really so freaking helpful wow. I dont want to @ them because like i dont know them but ill link them here here and here . I would go to their pages and look up beginner courses and most have like resources and worksheets for you. Honestly wow bless them idk what i would do without them. This is the best resource for me.
Watching Vlives ~ i know this is like weird but once you get to a certain point i stopped watching lives with subs on. I would just REALLY listen and catch words or phrases i knew. Alot of the time i dont understand fully but just hearing something i recognize or getting the idea of what they are saying is like.. so nice lol. Some members are harder to understand for me than others so when i want to practice my listening I will watch Jihoon, Seungkwan, or Jeonghans lives. They are the easiest for me to understand. Mingyu is like.. really hard for me idk why lol. Cheol mumbles a bit and Chan sometimes talks kinda fast. It kinda depends on the vibe of the live tbh.
Korean Buddies ~ Really just having anyone to speak korean with helps. Its better if they are native though obviously lol. I know you can’t just go out on the street and find korean and be like “안녕! 친구가 되어주세요 (:” lol but idk just be more open to exchange students and even study abroad like i did. Idk how to put this lol. Its just like a regular friend so… idk. this is weird but what i do know if my friends help me alot.
ok so honestly the best advise i can give is be open to learning. Try hard. Don’t give up. And comment 승관이~ 세상에서 이렇게 잘생긴 남자는 어디서 찾을 수 있겠어요?? on seungkwans instagram posts.

honestly you sold me there, i love idol groups who have like 2 braincells 🤣 i will willingly watch their one hour mafia games and debate night, i just watched their episode on knowing bros/men on a mission (which was prob like 80 min long...) and it was so hilarious omg i loved it!! minghao was so funny in it too even tho he is not the loudest in the group (which honestly i relate to a lot (the part about not being the loudest, not the part about being funny lmao)), and also his dance moves! so good! i can see why you bias him hehe; youtube has been recommending me the gose content lately and im excited to watch it :))
omg i know right...i asked my mom this (about how she remembers all the chinese characters) and she said apparently it is not as hard as it seems bc a bunch of characters are compound words (using two different characters to make one word or something)? but i think it is prob still hard if you forget a word or something bc you can't sound it out like in english. that's why i decided to learn hangul honestly bc the korean writing system is so much simpler (and makes sense) compared to other asian languages LOL. that's so cool that you could act as the translator for your family and the woman in french! did you learn french on your own or do you just naturally pick up languages easily? it is def true you forget languages when you use them less, my canto is a lot less smooth when im not at home (like i am now bc of covid). but i think at least you will have a foundation for the language so that helps a lot for practicing it again!!
wait that makes sense about china line making korean easier, like when lucas speaks i feel like i can kinda understand him better bc he's not as fluent in korean as the native members?? i do also know some veryyy basic japanese from watching anime hahaha but i think i am less familiar with it now bc i watch way more korean content nowadays 😂
ahh you understand me about hating bugs <3 im honestly not a huge fan of real nature besides like basic hikes on paved paths 😂 also i totally get u about being scared of heights, my mom and brother both are too 😬 i do know how to swim (i actually had to take a swim test for my college to graduate lmao), but when i was younger i rly didnt like water but since i was forced to learn to swim i think im okay now? i am lowkey afraid of the ocean tho bc it's so big and also i've watched too many shows about sharks in the water lol (even tho i know thats prob a bit irrational). oh another thing i dont really like is intense rollercoasters...im okay with the ones that dont go upside down, but there are ones that are at like 90 degree angles and go backwards and im like nooooo thanks 😅
OMG i just looked up jeonghan with long hair and i also legit thought he was a woman 😧 (but a very beautiful one) and yea i totally didnt know he and joshua (jihan) were a thing! are they like the nomin of svt 🥺 joshua seems like he has such a calming aura and jeonghan seems like the prankster of the group hehe. im interested to see if my biases will change as i watch more svt content!
also merry xmas eve!! cant wait to officially “meet” you tmrw hehe (it is actually still the 23rd for me rn bc of time difference but yea same thing) 🎄🤶✨
HAHDGA me too!!!! hahah yeah i loved the ep!! yeah hao is a very quiet guy, he just loves to listen and observe i guess but he can be pretty savage sometimes jahsdga i love him<3 also his dance moves!!!!! 😍 OMGG I’M so happy we should definitely keep fangirling over svt even when this is over!!!
ohhhhhh i see, interesting!! ohhh yeah i think korean writing system is easier, too; when i see chinese character to me they doesn’t look like letters yk? in my mind i see it as a tiny drawing i should memorize the meaning of, while hangul does seem like weird letters, but still letters 😅 i guess that’s because both you and i use latin (and i also use cyrillic) alphabet to write so it does seem weird to us? but perhaps it seems so natural and easy to your mom for example or someone who uses chinese characters to write! uhh i learned french in school but in addition to school classes i also learned it on my own bc yeah i reeeally love languages and i naturally pick up a new language easily, i guess that’s my talent 😅 but yeah you’re right! if i ever need it guess it’ll be easy to refresh my memory! ohh so you’ve been practicing canto more lately hmm??
yeahh i completely understand lucas and also winwin and i love them for it<3 yeah i get it, i’m definitely better at korean hahaha
ikr haha tho i love nature, truly, but it scares me 😅 omggg you had to take a swimming test to graduate???? 😨 sounds like a nightmare to me omggg what were you majoring in??? i was also forced to swim when i was younger (i guess in my surroundings everyone knows how to swim so yk it was expected from me too, which is when i developed the fear of water 😅) but i never learned ✌️ yeah and ocean is so unexplored so who knows what else lives down there 😨 it’s okay to be irrationally scared of everything<3 (at least that’s what i tell myself) OMG ROLLERCOASTERS ANOTHER THING I HATE (you saw this coming from my fear of heights, right) lmao i’m such a coward
yeah he is beautiful<3 uhh well idk they don’t remind me of nomin but they are very comfortable with each other, and they also entered the company around the same time and they’ve been close since their trainee days; some would say they are angel/devil couple in svt (jeonghan being the devil ahgsdfah) so you’re very much right!! i, too, am curious to see if your biases in svt change 🥺
AHH YEAH I CAN’T WAIT EITHER i am so excited omg 🥺 it’s 24th rn at my place so!!! merry christmas eve!!!!! 🎄💚

Two of my housemates are learning things on the Duolingo app right now -- I think one of them is doing French and the other Spanish, but don't quote me on that. I signed up for the free version, and currently have nine languages running, because that'll keep me from getting bored and blowing through the entire skill tree on any one of them in like three days. I've spent the past two hours poking at it, because I currently have one of those plagues that's long on extra snot and short on oxygen, and I can do nothing that takes me more than lunging distance from a box of tissues. Au début, j'ai découvert que je fais du français encore assez bien, lorsque je me suis remplie des drogues. Duolingo will give you a fluency score; it tops out around 50-60%, because Duolingo isn't life, and right now my French hovers around 53%. It would probably be higher, but I'm far enough into it that it's asking me to translate things that can be said in a number of slightly different ways, and my first guess is not always the exact one the program wants. It's an irritating variation on the Guess What Verb The Parser Knows game from the old Infocom text adventures, particularly when I know full well that if I had said it that way to an actual human, it would have worked fine. It sometimes wants precise translations and sometimes wants contextual equivalents, and sometimes it wants precise translations that are just plain ol' wrong on both counts. The French lessons, for instance, translate the pronoun on as 'we'. It is not; on is the impersonal "one", as in "One speaks French in France." Inasmuch as it is a third-person singular pronoun, it takes the same verb conjugations as he, she, and it. If you would rather translate it into the less-formal English equivalent, it almost always maps to the impersonal "you", as in "You speak French in France." Also irritating, and sometimes obstructive, is that Duolingo does not explain grammar. The sets of lessons might be captioned 'Prepositions', but it never explains what a preposition is, nor is it very good at taking into account the fact that some of them mean slightly different things depending on context, and there is not a one-to-one correspondence to prepositions in English. You get present-tense verbs without an explanation that the 'verbs' and 'is verbing' forms are the same in French/German (and not the same in Spanish or Japanese). It really plays fast and loose with the Japanese translations, where it will demand you guess the exact pronoun it wants despite the fact that this information is literally nowhere in the sentence they want you to translate -- Japanese often leaves pronouns off, and since Japanese doesn't conjugate for subject you can't reconstruct it with 100% accuracy from an out-of-context phrase. These inconsistencies are especially rage-inducing when you're doing the bonus skills, like flirting or idioms. Duolingo expects you to guess what things mean by looking at how they're used in a sentence, but because they want the equivalent idiom in English, and never give the exact translation of the French one, they're fucking up the pattern you're supposed to be picking up. Their translation of Ça va, ça vient is "On again, off again", which is not what those words say. Le monde appartient à ceux qui se lèvent tôt = "The early bird catches the worm." Nope! Sauve qui peut is rendered as "Run for your life!", which is often what it means, but it literally says "Save who/that which can (be saved)!" It would also be used if, say, someone tipped a pitcher of beer all over the table and wanted everyone to jump forth and rescue their own phones and wallets. The idiom they render as "You can't have your cake and eat it too," is actually, "One cannot (concurrently) have (both) the butter and the money for butter." They also at some point teach you the word for cake, and it is not beurre. The languages are also inconsistent in whether they'll let you answer in the Latin alphabet. The Esperanto lessons will take the ASCII-based x-transliterations (Esperanto requires letters like ĵ, ĝ, ŝ, and ĉ, which so far as I know are unique to that language, and require hotkeys on a QWERTY keyboard), but Russian immediately demands you go find a Russian IME or keyboard. They do not have any lessons teaching you the Cyrillic alphabet. They just throw words at you and expect you to work it out on your own. I'll bet they don't do that when they're teaching Russian kids to read. The Asian languages will only ask you to type when translating things to English; both the Japanese and Korean lessons have you build your Japanese/Korean answers by picking the words you want out of a list of options. The Japanese lessons generally use revised Hepburn romanization, which is one of the two common standards, and comes out okay; they use Revised Romanization for the Korean, and it's fucking awful. The correspondence between what the hangul block literally says, what the voice pronounces, and the Roman letters that represent it is appallingly poor, to the point where I was doing better when I turned the sound off. The vowels are fine and pretty well disambiguated, but there appears to be very little consistency to how the consonants are transcribed. The same phoneme is R at the start of syllables and L at the end; the simple final stop might be b, g, t, tt, k, or kk, and the one the romanization uses does not always reflect the actual Korean letter(s) used in the han. They also never explain what the jamo are or how you assemble them into han, which effectively means they are trying to teach you hangul by the same brute-force memorization method as hanja. There is perfectly good logic behind how you build those blocks -- which means you can disassemble them to sound words out -- so this is stupid and wrong. They don't have any Arabic lessons for speakers of anything I could stumble through a language course in. Given the state of the Korean, that might be a good thing. If anyone else is entertaining themselves with Duolingo, I'm Arabella Flynn on there. Pairing: Badboy!Jungkook X Reader

‘‘ Here is the first room on your schedule.. now i’ll have Mr. Brock if he’ll have someone that has a similar schedule as you, to help you around.’’
You nod your head at the assistant principle and gulp. The nerves that you had somehow subdued is starting to creep back up again. Nothing or nobody in the hallways which makes the tension and nervousness in the air even more thick.
He places a hand on your back, ‘’ You’ll be fine Miss yn. If anybody bothers you, you know where my office is now right?’’
‘‘ Right..’‘
‘‘ Good then. Now go inside, im sure the class is ready to greet you.’‘ He chuckles, his cheeks puff out with a hearty smile. It’s somewhat creepy.
Taking a deep breath in, you turn around and put one hand on the door handle. Thoughts intrude your mind of such all the horrible things you could think happen. It doesn’t help that your heart is beating at a fast pace. It feels like it could burst any second now.Your hands tremble as you open the door slowly, in reward it lets out a creaking noise.
The muttering sounds of student’s suddenly stop. A man, about 5 foot 9 looks over at you. You take in his features. A westerner. Finally someone of your kind. He has dirty blonde hair and is clean shaven. There’s a mole on the left side of his full set of lips but not to noticeable, just the right size. He can’t be anymore than twenty eight years old at the max.
‘‘ Welcome! You must be yn! Come in, Come in.’‘ He shows off his pearly whites smiling proudly. You keep your head low to not make any sorts of eye contact with the class as you make your way over to him.
‘‘ Class please Welcome yn!‘
You can practically feel the eyes burning on you but your head remains a little lowered. Some chatter begins once more along with some whispers and giggles of teenage girls.
‘‘ Why don’t you tell us about yourself hmm?’‘ The teacher, Mr. Brock, politely asks.
You finally manage the courage to raise your head up. It’s a bad idea you soon regret doing it. The faces all stare at you in silence, waiting for you to do as told.
Swallowing hard, you look at the teacher and then back at the silent classroom. “I’m yn, I’m uh.. new here and I just transferred from an international high-school. I moved here when I was eleven due to my mom’s job. I was born in the United States, but soon Canada had became my home after being born.”
‘‘ Wow! A foreigner!” One person bursts out. Then suddenly, all of the questions start coming in at once.
‘‘ How is it in Canda? ’‘
‘‘ I’m visiting the United States over the summer!’‘
‘‘ Is it true that Americans are obese?’‘
Questions are thrown left and right. You try and answer each one of them but your mind and mouth clam shut. It’s not like you’re from America anyways. So all you do is just stand there opening and closing your mouth trying to get a correct answer out.
‘‘ Enough!’‘ Mr. Brock gives one stern look to the class and they all fall silent. You silently thank him in which he nods and turns back to the once more silent class. ‘‘ She surely doesn’t want to be bombarded with questions. Just welcome her class. Shall we begin teaching once more?’’
’‘ Yes teacher.’‘ The class says in monotone.
Mr Brock sends you to an empty seat in the back. On your way to the back, there are more giggles and murmurs but you get past it. Besides, it would be harder for them to stare since you’re in the back.  Your eyes are kept low as you pull out the materials needed for the class. The teacher resume’s what he’s teaching all while you think of how many ways you hate this new school.
The bell rang a chime-ful ring that almost makes you want to mentally drown yourself. At your old school they did not have that annoying chime. Instead it was a regular 10 second dull ring. This just adds on the list of why you really don’t want to be here.
‘‘ Hi, I’m Ayami! Nice to meet you!’‘ Your thoughts are interrupted by a short girl with long dark brown hair, smiling and holding her hand out. You eye her up and down and hesitantly take her hand and shake it.
‘‘ You’re new yeah? Can I see your schedule?’‘
You furrow your eyebrows as she hold she hand out to see the schedule. You give it to her.
She scans over it and hands it back with a smile on her face. ‘’ We have all our core classes together. I play the Violin and I also take Fitness class. So we will only see each other three times out of the day and in lunch also.’’
The two of you start walking down the noisy yet not crowded hallway. Each time a person passes you they chuckle or whisper. You keep your head forward with hopes of the day going by fast.
‘’ Fitness?’’ You didn’t know it was an option.
‘’ Yeah it’s like P.E with no teacher. Only two gyms, one for boys and one for girls. You basically have to fight for slots in scheduling for a spot. They give you a blue card to swipe to get inside the gym.’‘
‘‘ They did not tell me that.’‘  You frown.
‘‘ Well you did come in the end of the year. Plus you have to be academically good for them to even consider letting you take fitness.’‘
Academically good? Just for a workout? ‘’ Why is that?’’
‘‘ Because.’‘, She chuckles as you both turn down the corridor,  ‘‘ You have to take an hour off your performing arts class in order to get fitness. Hence why your grade in that class and others have to be good.’‘
‘‘ Oh.’‘ You nod. ‘‘ That makes since now because you would have to do good in that class. I get it.’‘
You both stop at a classroom. The blue sign on the left of it reads AP Psychology. You can’t help but to smile because it’s always been one of your most favorite classes.
‘‘ You are in your last year correct? Have you chosen your major and college?’‘ She waves to the teacher as you follow behind her. You look at the female teacher and she gives a warm smile.
Ayami makes her way to the back of the room and points to a desk next to hers. You take it as her wanting you to sit there so you do. ‘’ My major is Psychology. I haven’t chosen a University.’’
‘‘ I chose SNU. I’m going in the medical field as a Pediatrician. Oh how I just love kids.’‘ She beams. You chuckle at her sitting position. Elbows on the table with her head in her hands and a smile to top it all of.
‘‘ Then why choose Psych as a class?’‘ You ask.
Ayami shrugs her shoulders while adjusting her seating position. ‘’ Maybe I’ll need it one day.’’
By the time the class is over you’ve written down every word and notes that the teacher had provided. Ayami had slept for half the class but managed to get some of the notes down. Maybe she’ll ask for them later. That defeats the purpose of her being so called academically well though.
‘‘ And this is the cafeteria. We have 4 main lines of lunch choices. European food, Korean food, American food, and Japanese food.’‘
Your mouth drops at the sight of the huge cafeteria. It’s very spacious with a set of spiral stairs leading up to another seating area upstairs. Two cafeterias? What doesn’t this place have? Each flag of all over the world hangs on the perimeter of the ceiling in the two huge cafeterias. You try and count them one by one but end up disregarding it seeing as though there are so many.
‘‘ We have two vending machines. One with juice and the other with little snacks.’‘ She points to the farthest corner of the cafeteria. There stands two brightly colored machines filled with snacks and drinks. Wow.
You and Ayami begin to walk towards Japanese cuisine line. It wasn’t pretty full in the lines or cafeteria in general. ‘‘ Amazed? Yeah I remember being the same way after I moved from Japan to Seoul and as placed here. I got in by auditioning and recommendation.’’
Grabbing a tray, your mouth waters at what you see before your eyes. All the foods that the lunch lady’s prepared looks so delicious. ‘’ You’re from Japan? You speak english very well..’’
‘‘ Yes I’ve studied hard. I practice a lot too. I speak three languages total. Japanese, English, and I had to be forced to learn Korean and the hangul alphabet.’‘ She chuckles at the end.
‘‘ Can I just have whatever she gets?’‘ You look up at the lunch lady and she nods in approval after you hand her your dark green tray. After the tray is filled with enough food, you and Ayami thank her and move down the line.
‘‘ Try this, it’s sweet in the inside.’’
You watch her as she drops two biscuit like circles onto your tray with her chopsticks. ‘’ It’s kind of an overwhelming sweetness, so you’ll only need to eat a little bit.’’ She says.
Once you two have payed for your two meals, she leads you to a table in the middle of the cafeteria. You notice two females and one male which makes your anxiety even more high than it was. New people and you don’t mix together. Its just an awkward scene waiting to happen.
‘‘ Minlee, Crystal, Sungmin, this is my new friend YN.’‘ Sitting her tray down, you feel a tug on your skirt informing you to sit next to her in which you do. They stare at you for a bit, making you look down at your lap to avoid the eyes.
Ayami sighs, ‘‘ Idiots! Say something nice.’‘
‘‘ I’m Crystal. I like your eyes...’‘
You look up at her and take in her beauty. Clear skin with strawberry red, long hair and bangs. Her figure seems to be very slim and tall. Full lips with a tiny mole on near her right eyebrow, and a nice nose. Surgery maybe?
‘‘ Thank you.’‘
‘‘ Sungmin. Art is my kind of thing.. what’s yours.’’
Your eyes almost buck out of your head when you make eye contact with him. He has a sharp jawline with a protruding collar-bone and semi long neck. But it all makes up for his tall height and hands that are big also. Double eye-lids with white teeth and a cute yet sexy baby face. One that looks innocent but might be the opposite. To compliment his face, he has short wavy tresses with bangs covering his forehead.
‘‘ The piano..’’ You say, ending the eye contact that was made. You look down at your plate of whatever delicious looking food it is, but your mind goes blank when you realize there are no forks or spoons, just chopsticks. Your worst enemy.
‘‘ Oh how nice. I’m Minlee. I play the viola.. I also draw a bit.”
She’s pretty too. A short bob cut and fringe bangs. Her cheeks are full and just look so pinchable, even with her two dimples. She’s a little on the shorter side but not too short.
Sungmin notices you staring at your tray of food. A look of concern comes across his face in which you try your best to still not make eye contact with him. .’‘ Do you not like the food here?’‘
‘‘ Oh no no no the food looks so good. It’s only that...’‘ You trail off not wanting to reveal something to embarrassing. What would they even think of you. An eighteen year old who doesn’t know how to use chopsticks.
Minlee smiles and finishes off for you, ‘‘ You can’t use chopsticks right?’‘ She puts hers down and grabs yours, breaking them apart. You watch her as she folds up a piece of tissue to the point where it is thick. Then takes a hair tie from her wrist and slips the block of tissue in between the chopsticks then wraps the hair tie around them.
‘‘ Trainer chopsticks. There you go.’‘ She smiles, putting it back onto your tray. You thank her as your cheeks begin to heat up. ‘‘ Sorry for the inconvenience.’‘
‘‘ Wow. How do you eat at restaurants and at home?’‘ Sungmin leans forward from his previous position waiting for your answer. You bite your lip and begin to pick up a dumpling. ‘‘ I order out or either pick it up at a restaurant. We have forks and knives and spoons at home.’‘
‘‘ You’ve lived here for so long, how do you not know how?’‘ Crystal giggles and takes a sip of her berry-like beverage. ‘‘ I try and practice but give up after the first try.’‘
‘‘ Ah I see. Well we can help you work on that if you like.’‘ Min-lee takes a bite of her pizza and nods. ‘‘ Thanks. Although you guys might not be very successful. I’m short tempered.’‘ You chuckle, plopping another dumpling into your mouth.
Crystal lets out one of her cute giggles again, ‘‘ Non sense. It took me till i was ten to stop using trainer chopsticks. I hated when my mom made me use regular ones.’‘
You laugh with the whole table again. This might not be so bad. Four new friends on the first day of school. Wow, being the anti-social person you are it’s a new record. You only had a total of 2 friends at your old school, but something inside you thought that they weren’t really your friends because they talked to you whenever they felt like it.
‘‘ Oh they’re coming! Look guys look!.’‘ Crystal points and squeals at the entrance into the cafeteria. ‘‘ Oh god. Here she goes again.’‘ Sungmin rolls his eyes and shakes his head.
She punches his arm and does a harsh ‘shh’ sound. Sungmin rubs his arm and curses under his breath making you smile at the two. ‘‘ Shut up idot! I need to have quietness while i intake their handsomeness.’‘
‘‘ Those boys are nothing but trouble.’‘ Minlee says, shaking her head also as Ayami agrees with her.
You turn to look at the entrance to see who they’re referring to. But you freeze and begin to choke on a piece of noodle as they walk through the cafeteria.Tears form in your eyes as your coughing becomes more violent.  Ayami ferociously pats your back until the noodle becomes un-lodged in your throat and onto the ground.
‘’ Damn it yn! What’s wrong?’’ Ayami says, eyes wide of fear and curiosity. You shake your head as your breathe hard, ‘‘ I just didn’t expect it to be the boys from this morning.’‘
Sungmin hands you his un-opened bottle of water in which you take and thank him just before taking multiple sips.
‘‘ They’re beautiful aren’t they? Jungkook, Jimin, Namjoon, Seokjin, Hoseok, Taehyung, and Yoongi.’‘ It doesn’t help that Crystal is in a dreamy like state with her hands on her head and a slight smile as she stares off into space.
You turn to get a good look again. They sit in the corner of the cafeteria, as far away from where you guys sit as possible. There’s seven of them and they laugh and talk amongst themselves. They aren’t looking or staring at you, unlike the other students who did so all day. So it’s declared safe to stare at them without fear of making eye contact.
They certainly don’t look like blood brothers. The one from this morning has muscles with dark brown hair and a serious jaw-line. Another is taller, leaner, but still muscular, and has black hair with a dimple when he smiles. The third one has ginger hair and an eye smile when he laughs. His full lips also catch your attention. The forth one is less bulky with a brown haired mullet and facial features to die for. Fifth one has a bright personality coming from the way you’ve seen him smile and laugh way more than the others. He has blonde hair. Sixth one has what it seems like a dull personality. He sits with his legs crossed with a neutral facial expression that doesn’t change. But something tells you he might be the biggest sweetheart ever. The very last one looks like he could be a model like the mullet guy. Broad shoulders and a squeaky laugh. How adorable. You just could not look away from them. They’re so beautiful it’s unnatural.  They are like the faces you see on a fashion magazine. Or maybe even skin care.
‘‘ Who are they?’‘ You turn back to them at the table. ‘‘ You were staring at them for like five minutes.’’ Ayami shakes her head and finishes up the last of her ramen. ‘‘ They’re trouble that’s who they are.”
‘‘ No.’‘ Crystal interrupts, ‘‘ They’re handsome men that make this school worth going to.’‘ Sungmin scoffs and sits back up from his slumped position. ‘‘Yeah right. I’m number eight after them on the schools ranked handsome list.’‘
‘‘ Exactly. Number eight, idiot.’’ Crystal roles her eyes earning a fake hurt expression from Sungmin. ‘‘ I swear if you weren’t my sister I would say something so insulting.’‘
So they are brother and sister. Interesting.
‘‘ I’ll tell you who they are.’‘ Min-lee sighs and pushes the tray away from her while clearing her throat. ‘‘ They came two years ago. All of them came together. Nobody knows where or what school or district they came from. Rumor had it that they didn’t need to audition like the rest of us to get in. That’s when people started to speculate and get interested in them.’‘
‘‘ I did not have to audition..’‘ You say, confused. ‘‘ It’s because you had a good recommendation from someone that’s of higher level.’‘ Ayami says.
‘‘ Oh. Keep going.’‘
Minlee continues, ‘’ They wear all this rich-like clothing and have always walked to their core classes together like they were some type of high-class boys. But in reality, someone found out information on them, and who they work for.’’
You furrow your eyebrows. Work for? What does that even mean?
‘‘ Supposedly they are all in this gang. It’s one of the most notorious gangs in South Korea. Say the name and everyone knows who you’re talking about. But nobody knew who they were. The principle had denied the rumors and speculations when it was brought to her attention. But it was too late. Now everybody believes that they’re truly apart of it. And guess who’s father is the of the gang.’’
You had no idea. You sat there waiting for her to continue as everyone else became quite at your table.
‘‘ Jeon Jungkook. The dark browned haired guy with the killer face.’‘ Minlee sits back with a smirk upon her face. You don’t know how to take all this in.
Seven boys apart of a gang? But go to a performing arts school? It doesn’t make sense at all.
‘‘ So he and his friends work for his father correct?’‘ You ask. They all nod their heads at you. ‘‘ That means that they might be killers?’‘ You swallow hard, trying not to look back at the seven boys.
‘‘ And drug dealers, and criminals.’‘ Ayami rolls her eyes and sighs.
‘‘ They’re all ruthless. They might seem like they care about you, if you’re pretty to them. All they want is sex from girls and money from doing their dirty job.’‘ Minlee says.
‘‘ Non-sense, I know a few girls that have dated them.’‘ Crystal frowns while gazing over at them. ‘‘ And how long did it last? Did it end well.’‘ Sungmin’s sarcasm comes out of his mouth.
‘‘ Nobody asked you dummy. I was just saying.’‘ Crystal lets out a huff of air, picks up her tray, and starts getting up. ‘‘ I’m going to toss my trash. Anybody coming?’‘
You just so happen to get stuck with the night shift before someone comes in and does the overnight. You wish someone would have covered your shift for you. It makes it even worse since you’re utterly exhausted from getting used to your new school today. All you wanted to do was go home and sleep, but work calls and money must be made.
‘‘ How was school?’‘
‘‘ Eh. I need more time to get used to it.’‘ As you bring in the last boxes of ordered candy, you thank the vendor and watch him leave the store.
‘‘ Really? I would kill to go to a performing arts school.”
You chuckle at Sejun, your coworker who manages to keep you sane at the store. ‘’ It’s not all that. The uniforms are ugly.’’
‘‘ Uniforms? Ha, nevermind I wouldn’t want to go. I cant just wear one single thing for the whole school week. You know I’ve got to express my fashion in any way honey.’’ He snaps his fingers together and does a striking pose.
You stifle your laugh with a hand coming across your mouth. He likes putting sarcasm on the stereotypes of him, which is funny to you. Such a silly person, but a blessing to work with. When you met Sejun you thought he was the flirty type because he’s always hands on and touchy towards the staff. But after one day you had asked if he liked you, he laughed right in your face for a good two minutes. It was embarrassing, so you thought, but all in the end he shook his head no and told you he is gay, in English, in his Aussie accent.
It was a relief to you but you saw that coming out of no where. How could you not have known? Till this day it still shakes you up , but in a relieving good way.
‘‘ The group at school misses you. I told them to come into the convience store to see you one day this week.’‘
Sejun takes half the boxes from you and starts slicing them open with a box cutter. You carefully hang each pack of candy onto the metal hanger with ease. ‘’I’ll be looking forward to it. We need a night out all together.’’
Stacking an empty box on-top of another, ‘’ But exams are coming soon. I heard from one of my new friends at school that they also test each quarter on your performing art skill. We have this big one coming up, as my teacher said today.’’
Sejun hands you a box of blue raspberry candies that belong on the row you’re working on. You take it from him and toss it next to you to work on when you’re done. ‘’ Yeah. Maybe an end of the year graduation party. A big one.’’  He says.
You nod your head in approval as you hang the last bag of strawberry candies up, ‘’ Sounds great. Lets rent a place shall we?’’
‘‘ Yes. We could invite anyone and everyone! Let’s plan this out more later on okay?’‘ Sejun giggles of excitement. ‘‘ Besides, I need to meet new people. Preferably a handsome boyfriend who can handle all this ass and sass. ‘‘
You almost choke on your mint flavored gum when he says that. Sejun giggles once more and pats your back, ‘’ I’m totally not joking. We need to get boyfriends. Any cute boys at your school? No down-low ones for me.’’
Your mind instantly goes to the group of boys. You don’t know the names by heart yet. But you do know the one who confronted you, Jungkook. The leader of the group at school, and son of a mafia-drug lord.
You swallow hard and shake your head no quickly, “No. I don’t.’’
Sejun smirks, getting up from his crouching position and placing his hands on his hips. “You’re lying. Come on spill it to me mama.”
Looking back up at him, you try and hide your burst of laughter that comes tickling up your throat. “Im,.. serious..’’
‘‘ Who is it. Let’s go behind the counter and talk. Some customers might come in soon. It get’s busy around 5 till 7. ‘‘ He holds out a hand to help you up. You pick up all the little empty boxes and then grab his hand for him to yank you up.
On your way to the counter you toss the boxes in the huge recycling bin by the soft drink machines. ‘’ Honestly, it’s really nothing.’’
‘‘ Oh so it’s more than one boy hmm? ‘‘ Sejun smirks again. You roll your eyes playfully and stand right next to him, leaning on the counter. ‘‘ Okay fine. It is more than one and they are all handsome but i’ve been warned about them.’‘
‘‘ Spill it Now.’‘
‘‘ Seven boys go to my school and its rumored they are in the mafia. Get this, the leader of the gang spoke to me this morning. Of course they’re all stuck up and rude. They laughed at me when the leader scolded me for being in their way.’‘
You shiver at recalling this morning’s entrance scene. ‘’ The leader is nonchalant with a bad attitude. He’s got a great face though. The rest are all very handsome. Like they all belong on some modeling contract and on the front page of some magazine.’’
You notice Sejun’s mouth hanging open which makes you furrow your eye-brows at him. ‘’ What? You know them or something?’’
He raises his finger slowly out of your direction. Your eyes follow to where he’s pointing and your breath hitches for a quick second. No way. No fucking way.
The door’s bell rings signaling someone has entered. But it wasn’t just someone. No, it was more than one person. Those seven boys. Laughing and being loud as they walk inside, barely even noticing you or Sejun.
‘‘ Are those the ones you were talking about? Because they’re hot as hell and-’‘
‘‘ Shut up Sejun.’‘ You whisper harshly. You can’t believe with your own eyes what you’re seeing. How is this even possible. On-top of that, how did you not see those on them before.
Sejun whispers, ‘’ okay but all of them are covered in tattoos.. major turn on oh my god.’’
Your mind or body doesn’t pay attention to him talking. All you cant think about is how Jungkook’s neck, biceps, arms, and chest are covered in tattoos. The deep, black v-neck on him portrays his collar-bone making you just want to melt right then and there.
Tattoos? Who knew that tattoos could look so fucking good on a person like him. It’s obvious to why he covers them in school, but jesus christ they look to damn good on him.
The ripped black skinny jeans show off his very muscular thighs. Is this heaven right now? You can’t even stop yourself from staring so hard. The blood rushes through your cheeks just imagining him shirtless with all the tattoos showing.
‘‘ Yn.. Yn.. come back to earth he’s coming up to the counter damn it!’‘
Sejun shaking you makes you come back to reality. Before you know it, he’s standing right in-front of you with a case of beer and condoms. Not any regular sized condoms either.
‘‘ Well well well, it’s little miss entrance ruiner. ‘‘ He smirks, eyes never leaving yours, brown eyes burning right into your soul. ‘‘ Ring these up for me baby-cakes.’‘
You bite your lip and break eye contact first while grabbing the scan gun. Your hands shakily scan each item not even daring to look back up. ‘’ Your total  is $22.34... cash, credit or de-’’
He cocks his head to the side with a sly grin on his face, ‘‘ Cash.. if you don’t mind.’‘
‘‘ N-no problem.’‘
He gives you a twenty and a five dollar bill in which you put it in the cash register and take out the change back for him. Ripping the receipt off the printer, you hand it to him first and then the change.
‘‘ The name’s Jungkook.’‘
He smirks once more before grabbing his items and leaving out with the rest of the boys trailing behind him. Once the door closes, you finally let out a puff of air.
It still doesn’t hit you that what just happened is real. It can’t be real. You did not just hold an actual conversation with a possible gang person. A sexy one at that.

哇啊啊~! 你的韩文好棒!!!你是怎么学的?我也很想要学韩文( ̥́ ˍ ̀ू )
Anonymous said: how did you learn korean? love ur blog btw xx
Anonymous said: 어떻게 한국어를 배웠서요? 진짜 잘한다…
omg ok so…. all three of these asks are asking how i learned korean❗️❗️ (just in different languages :b) and bc my korean isn’t sufficient enough to… explain everything well😥 i will just answer in english (with a side of chinese)
tbh im not even that sure how i learned.. i kind of… picked it up? i didn’t make a big effort to learn, but i loved korean dramas, korean music, and also korean variety shows so there was a time (like a few years ago when i wasn’t that busy) where basically i would be in contact with the korean language for most of the day…
the real effort i made to learn korean was learning the korean alphabet and hangul, i think. so there are 4 parts to learning a language: speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
speaking and listening were improved while i listened to songs and watched shows: i would sometimes see a word and pronounce it just bc idk i thought korean was pretty so .-. and i dont want to sound narcissistic or anything but i’ve always been good with languages?? like i pick up really quickly and am a good imitator esp for the sounds and stuff :(
reading and writing(spelling i guess in my case) were improved through reading captions on shows, but mainly lyrics?? if that makes sense. lyrics helped me a lot and bc i sing, i sing korean songs sometimes with my friends who know korean and they also helped me understand lyrics better (??) by explaining it more casually. spelling improved as i read and learned how different words were spelt.
having a chinese + english base was really helpful too. a lot of words in korean are similar to chinese, for example the numbers 일이삼사오 (il i sam sa o) etc etc are almost the same to how u would pronounce the numbers 一二三四五 ( yi er san si wu) in chinese  (is this even making sense oh my god)
the one thing i have trouble is forming sentences? like its different from chinese + english so that’s why my korean is sooo limited :p im thinking about taking classes since i’m doing an international certificate program at my school, which requires you to learn a language that isn’t english or french.
again my korean is actually v lacking!! but hopefully i’ll get better :p it’s such a pretty language
亲爱的中国盆友们,我知道这段英文有一点(非常)乱,你们可以再问我一下(或者跟我单独聊!!)对不起啊,本来想要用中文再说一遍可是这个。。。实在是太长了。。囧 好崩溃
