Mostly spoiler free summary of my viewing experience
#The boy and the heron#how do you live#studio ghibli#ghibli#in all honesty that movie was legitimately so fantastic and im like changed as a person#Story wise as well! It hits really hard if you know a bit about miyazaki and his legacy. Its a very personal movie i think#And you can feel it in every aspect#The eng dub voice actors were really good as well and the animation was beautiful as always#Also really loved the tone!!! The story really relied a bit on the use of negative space in both sound and pacing and i enjoyed that alot#in conclusion go read a article about miyazaki and his son and then go watch the movie it’s probably going to be one of my favorites#image id in alt

SURE ENOUGH, CÉDRIC AND JIBRIL CALL EACH OTHER SECOND COUSINS 😭 When I was looking through the family tree it struck me like a bolt of lightning that Cédric and Jibril's positions didn't feel like second cousins and BOOM here I am. Enlightened. A Fool. Perplexed.
I don't blame myself too much tho because for some reason, even browser MTL sometimes translates 육촌 into "sixth cousin" (for reasons I don't even know other than MTL really just acts up like that)(see below)

new rgg fans will never know what they missed back in ye olden days of the fandom (like, 2019), doubly so now that scott strichart's deleted his twitter and jon riesenbach's privated. twitter was so fucking fun and then whatever-the-hell at sega of america happened and caused a fucking snowball effect and now we have shitass localization and resulting discourse that makes every release nigh unbearable, misinformation, confusion, people complaining about "bad writing/mischaracterization" not realizing it's because of the shitass english loc, i'm sitting here like jesus christ these loc bitches massacred saejima's character voice, people will never see him as he was intended, as original yakuza 5 localization Correctly painted him, and now they're coming for kiryu. god help us. we used to be a proper fandom. before everyone was subjected to the remastered localizations and shaky eng characterization. no one had even played yakuza 3-5, people still called morning glory "sunshine" orphanage, kiryu was our only protagonist and people still called him "boring", it was beautiful...
anyway gaiden uses affective instead of effective because the current localization team is full of careless dumbasses who don't give a fuck about ensuring they're using correct english grammar and this is not an isolated incident

(re: strip club) it gets localized to be him liking 'aggressive' dancers.#in 3 remastered he says he likes AGGRESSIVE DOMINEERING WOMEN and that gets his Gears Turning#or. in 5 shinada says that uno is 'a little sad up top' re: his hair. and 5 remastered he says 'kinda mopey'#because they misunderstood the original english loc and so. completely fucked up the line to mean something else entirely#its like broken telephone#the same is SOMEHOW also happening in 8... i dont know HOW but somehow it fucking is#meanwhile im revisiting zero and going OH YEAH GOOD CHOICE. THAT MAKES SENSE. GREAT WRITING. #slank-screams🗯️#yes this is about rancid gautier man‚ miklan my beloathed#heartbreaking news: windows shitty xbox gamer tab#is actually very useful for recording onscreen lines with audio#dunno if its the autism creature in me - but its relaxing putting character lore and making it super organized#seriously tho: the writing advice of ~hearing~ your blorbo speak#<- actually very good advice; it helps me to iron out dialogue to avoid the dreaded He Would Not Fucking Say That™#also Miklan's eng VA is honestly kinda incredible with how much ~range~ he gives the character#He's able to convey a lot of emotion and character within a single sentence#thats saying a lot since miklan's dialogue is Very Limited and sparsed out#You have to go out of your way to make the character speak way more#<- has gone out of their way to trigger Miklan's Ally Dialogue with Syl‚ Ing‚ Mitya‚ Fe and Purple-Haired-AntiChrist#anyways getting back on the topic: im ~almost~ done compiling rancid gautier man ally dialogue#i just need to add ing‚ mitya and fe ally lines to the note#while also try to unlock his special dialogue for non-crested units such as petra#b-money (byleth) is PWNING my ass who tf souped up this autist???#it took a level 24/26 syl to pwn the guy... ugh it was so grindy#honestly in the future when i play the other routes#i might just trigger all of the green ally dialogue and post it all onto here#will save everyone the headache of tryna grind thru 3hopes and ripping their hair out
