Do you have any general tips about writing g/t whump, or g/t or whump in general. I'm thinking about writing g/t or whump or a combination of the two. And your like my go to author when it comes to reading g/t or whump (your shit is really good, if you ever wrote a book and published it, I would be amongst the first to purchase it, I like your writing/content that much lol). So do you have any tips or tidbits for any wannabe writer that your willing to share?

Also I completely understand if this isn't an ask you want to answer, I realize im asking alot out of a stranger for free. So no hard feelings if this post is ignored.

This is such a sweet ask you're so sweet to me ily and if I ever become a published author you may have all my books for free

I think writing anything definitely depends on what style you like, such as mine is very "internal thoughts" and "descriptive action". Settings, physical descriptions, plot set ups -- I'm much more vague about those (which can be a downfall) because I like to focus more on what the current action is versus what lead to that moment.

So my advice, based on my own style, is that mental feelings are just as important as physical feelings when it comes to describing. Your tiny character just got smacked against the wall by a feral giant: tell me how much it hurt, tell me what hurts the most, tell me how focused or unfocused they are, tell me how close they were to cracking their head open on something a few inches away.

Now tell me if your tiny has the stamina to run, tell me if they've given up the fight and are accepting their fate, tell me what they're envisioning said fate to be, tell me if they're scared or angry, tell me what their last thoughts might be before they're cut off by whatever the feral giant does next.

In my opinion, it's much better to write from one character's perspective for a fic (unless you have noted breaks in between paragraphs to switch POVs or if you switch POVs every chapter). It gives the reader time to attach themselves to a single focal character and really get to know them via these internal thoughts and musings. It makes the character much more relatable in the sense that we can sympathize with their reasoning, or at least understand it on a deeper level compared to another character. It also leaves that air of mystery that we, just like the character we're being projected through, only know what we're being told/shown.

And again, descriptions are the shit my guy. Not saying you need to go on a monologue about what color your character's eyes are, but describing your actions and reactions against a duller background helps create more vivid imagery for what's going on in that very second. Your character gets punched in the gut: they're winded, they can't suck in any air between their teeth, they can taste burning bile in their throat, their train of thought slams on its breaks, their stomach feels like it's been split in half, they crumple to the ground in a fetal position, they don't even have the breath to moan in pain.

Also, when it comes to g/t whump specifically, I like to throw in the reminders of how large their size difference is pretty frequently. Remind your readers just how easily it would be to snap a tiny's leg like a toothpick when you have them dangling upside down from your fingers. Remind them how suffocating a giant's presence can feel both literally and figuratively when they're trapped under a hand that engulfs them like a weighed blanket.

Last piece of advice, if there's a writing style you like or a fic you adore or an author you want to emulate - try to figure out which parts you like and why, and then copy it lmao. Not plagiarize their whole story, obviously, but if you see vocabulary or sentence structures you like that's being used, store that shit in your brain to use for later homie. I love run on sentences being used to portray anxiety because your thoughts are going a mile a minute. I love scenes ending with an italicized onomatopoeia because it's the last thing someone hears. That's shit I read from fanfics that I still use in my stories.

Anyways one of my favorite things in sam and deans dynamic is the way they compliment each other in how they respond to when the other is in danger/dead/injured. I remember some really amazing posts being made about this by other people before omg. Still on my mind.

Idk I know partly it’s because the show puts them in very different situations but I think it’s very telling that when Sam dies dean hurts himself, plans his own demise (ie suicide) and when Dean dies Sam plans to essentially hurt the outside world (so, others) in this very mechanical vengeful way. Same way John did really lol although the show already presents this comparison very early on.

Dean is protective, his sole focus is that Sam is ok, no matter if he does end up fighting whoever in the process. Sam is reactive, his focus is on hurting whoever did the inflicting on dean. This in my opinion is because Sam is Dean’s world, or at least, Deans link to the outside world as well as his sense of self as a person with the role of Protector. Meanwhile Dean is arguably the most important part of Sam’s world, which is filled with the rest of everything as well. And Dean is Sam’s link to the world of Hunting, even when hunting becomes something he’s chosen on his own for himself no matter what Dean might want for him.

In this same train of thought, when Sam dies, Dean’s first reaction is to paralyze, to become passive, outwardly distressed, disconnected. When he does become active, he’s still very clearly emotional. When Dean dies Sam very quickly becomes active in a much controlled, methodical manner where the anger boils and spills.

Obivously within reason. They both cry, are sad, etc Lol. But I do think the contrast in how they act is there.

I really like the characterization of Dean not being someone especially vengeful, rather dutiful. And Sam as either the opposite, or both.

In the same vein I’ve always found it really interesting how the persona of who is the normal one and who is the weird one flips and flops between the two brothers throughout the show and in various contexts. In reality they’re both outsiders within their world and they are both weird, since they’re hunters. Deep down Sam is the one with the conflict of being a freak, both in his family and an actual freak with the demon blood thing, and a freak within college life at Stanford in Palo Alto. But really Sam is also at the beginning of the show especially, presented as the normal of the two due to having been outside the world of hunting, unlike Dean, who remains sheltered… despite not having been the one BORN into hunting. He may be charismatic but he’s closed off, antisocial, except for Sam and the few contacts they have. As the show goes on, Sam’s neediness and Dean’s charisma puts them into the private and open one respectively.

Also i think it’s very important to note that they view their relationship in equally (yet different) distorted ways. And the show shows this. It’s lowkey easier to focus on Dean because he’s very protective but Sam is absolutely the same way (or even more intense lol depending on your interpretations) he just conceals it better most of the time lol.

Then again the show is so long and has so many glossed over details and so many retcons I swear you could make ANY claim and find substantial textual and subtextual evidence to back it up. I haven’t forgotten about the drunk driver Dean debate, you guys… That’s honestly what I love most about spn lol the implications of it all………

• If anyone says anything about you, wether to you or him, Law is quick to teach them a lesson. How dare anyone disrespect his Y/n like that!

• If you ever give in to what people say to you, wether about your size or shyness, Law will give you a good talking to. He reassures you but in a more harsh / blunt way. You have to be an utter moron to believe the words of those people. Only a barbaric moron would believe that those qualities of you are ugly, that they’re no good.

• He doesn’t mind you being a wall flower, if anything, Law prefers it. It makes your company much easier to deal with, in contrast to people like Luffy. Law loves how chill you can be, how you don’t mind staying in all day within your free time. Truth be told, he’s just as introverted as you.

• As i said, Law loves using you as a pillow. So, expect a lot of cuddles from the man. He snuggles you a lot, giving you lots of hugs and the slightest brush of kisses. He may not be that way in public or in the overall presence of people, but Law is so very soft when you two are alone.

• Lets you wear his clothing, such as his jacket and sweater. He loves how it sags downward on you. It’s very cute to him, seeing his clothing cover your adorable form. It makes him die of cuteness... the sight is merely too much for him.

.....also! I feel like I should add that the type of flirting may be a big factor contributing to how the Akudama will react to it....! Especially because they'd all have their own way of navigating certain situations

Swindler

For the most part, she can catch on if the flirting seems blatant.. and you'll know when she isn't into it—

Swindler is likely to do a little light teasing of her own if she's interested as well, but it tends to come naturally and so she won't even notice she's flirting back

She can get very bashful or blushy about flirting that isn't originally initiated by herself

She may even become a little flustered if you're bold and say something back that she wasn't expecting...

Who knows though, she may surprise you further with something somehow bolder

For casual teasing or small hints here and there, she might be a little clueless and it'll fly over her head for a while

Only when a comment becomes a little more obvious does she start to overthink it, and then every interaction after she realizes you're flirting ends up being a little on the bashful or modest side

Brawler

He wouldn't catch on too easily, but he may have an inkling at some point to what your motive is ....eventually

He may even become cockier depending on the type of attention you're giving him...but because he's not very well aware it's exactly flirting, he feeds into it and takes it as an opportunity to show off

I think there is a fine line where the remarks have potential to fly over his head completely though, especially if they're from someone he knows fairly well, like a friend.

For the most part however, I think if there is any teasing involved, stranger or friend, it will fly right over his head and he may even take it as a personal insult or something to prove against you

It absolutely never flies over her head when someone is flirting with her

How she reacts greatly depends on her mood because she may flirt back intensively...or she may just become very irritated

If it's something like teasing, it can only go so far before she starts to stab back at her partner with teases that seem more like personal attacks

Flirty compliments are usually dealt with in a sassy manner and she may become touchy if she's into the flirting

If she's making the flirty compliments though, they may seem like backhanded insults...

Almost like it's impossible for her to flirt without in some way demeaning the person back

She's likely flirting back to gauge you as a person or to amuse herself with your reactions

For Hacker, it also greatly depends on the kind of flirting you're doing whether or not it'll fly over his head

Friendly teasing likely does fly over Hackers head and he'll always chop it up to the two of you just being close friends

Compliments are also something that have potential to fly over his head entirely, unless given way too often, then he starts to catch on

Bold remarks may allow him to catch on fairly quickly

If Hacker does catch on to someone flirting, he's likely to flirt back when interested and his flirting usually comes in the way of teasing or poking fun at the other person

...and even just straight up asking / pointing out what they're trying to do to fluster them back

Usually if he's giving a compliment though, it's never in a flirty sense, he actually genuinely means the compliment...he also... doesn't give them out too often—

Hoodlum

If it's obvious enough, he will play along and flirt back, especially if it can gas his ego up

He can be a bit of a show off or a boaster

Hoodlum can be insecure too though, so while I don't think flirting entirely flies over his head or doesn't, he has a lot of self-doubt about whether or not the person is or was actually flirting with him

His way of flirting back actually tends to be in compliments and giving the person he likes extra attention so he'll know or think best if the other person has a similar way of flirting

He may easily get nervous, especially at things like prolonged eye contact

If the flirting is in teases or poking fun, he too may take it personally or get a little discouraged and confused

Flirty teasing with a friend he already has may fly over his head and again, make him question if the other person is really flirting or not

He also rarely does any sort of flirtatious teasing of his own back...or if he does it's a little awkward

Courier isn't dumb, he can usually tell when a person is or isn't trying to flirt

He's not likely to play along when he does catch on though, even if he's interested it would have to be a very specific kind of flirting

Playful teasing or poking fun is something that could happen, but it rarely lasts long unless he's already comfortable with the person

His remarks can also be very blunt, so his partner should try their best not to take anything too personally—

When flirting might completely fly over his head is when it's given in things like compliments

He might not have a strict line of what's flirting and what's not, therefore any intentional flirting done will likely fly over his head

This doesn't mean that he's ever entirely clueless when a person signals interest in him though

With someone he's interested in, he—by his own default, will play along..., but, it's not necessarily always in the way you'd call flirty

Bold remarks may be met with confusion or remarks to equal his excitement of receiving one...and any bold remarks he makes aren't something he'd call "flirty", again—

Teasing in any sense can only go one way and it's his way. If you tease him back, he may get a little discouraged, confused, and depending on the comments made, irritated or hurt —

...he may also ignore the teasing unintentionally and continue to say or do whatever he wants to say or do to you— he's a wild card!

“extrovert-passing introverts” // aquarius stelliums are great at being social, and they like connecting with people, but they tend to hate being social at the exact same time, they like isolation/alone time and can have a pretty short fuse for dealing with people (it’s pretty conflicting! they have a love-hate relationship with being social lol, it highly depends on the house of the aquarius stellium in this case)

they tend to have that “social battery”, but it works both ways. they need social interaction for happiness (esp aquarius moon/venus), but they also usually need a day or three to recharge after social interactions/gatherings

despite their very chill, calm exterior i do find they get irritated and frustrated pretty easily, they have a very low tolerance for people’s bs and they aren’t usually great at hiding their annoyance (mostly because they simply don’t care to; in an aquarian’s mind they don’t generally see why they would hide their emotions for your sake)

surprisingly very stubborn! people expect them to be open since they’re an air sign; and mind you, they are very good at listening and understanding new ideas, concepts, ways of thinking/doing things, etc., but it’s pretty rare for aqua dominant people to change their ways/mind; and if they do it has to be on their own terms & feel like it was their own choice/idea

they can have issues when it comes to embracing & accepting their emotions; they tend to intellectualize and try to rationalize everything they feel (this will depend heavily on the individual’s moon though)

tend to be musically and/or artistically inclined, usually the most talented and creative people you’ll ever meet (i find most aquarians use art/music as an outlet; and a huge chunk of aquarius stelliums i’ve “studied” or read for have made their careers in the art fields)

i’ve noticed they tend to stutter a lot when speaking! aquarian dominant people (esp aquarius moons, mercurys) have this habit of speaking before they’ve actually formed the thought/planned out what they were gonna say: so they kinda of just “sjlkfdjdlkf” irl sometimes or take a while to finish their sentence (scattered speaking style)

depending on their ascendant/midheaven they likely have a pretty unique sense of style as well; i find those with strong aquarian influence often wear very “stand out”, “in your face” and original outfits; very much the type to constantly be changing their hair colour & makeup styles as well (they like wearing things or having aesthetics that tend to shock others; they secretly enjoy getting reactions out of people)

these individuals are very committed to their work and hobbies, they tend to put those above everything else in their life. a lot of people forget the aquarian connection to saturn; aquarians are usually very committed to their jobs and work very hard when they’re in the work-zone

their friends tend to be a hugely significant part of their life too; aquarius moons/venuses especially tend to talk about their close friends ALL the time and they’re very, very protective of them (so loyal)

aquarius stelliums tend to have lots of acquaintances but only a few select close friends (and even most of those close friends they don’t fully open up to)

usually struggles with intimacy and vulnerability 

they tend to radiate a lot of natural confidence and security in themselves, despite how insecure they may feel inwardly 

not to stereotype, but they do usually tend to be drawn to obscure, occult or controversial things. often the types to have “weird” hobbies, interests or habits

aquarians have the ability to fit in well with many types of people, yet often in childhood they were excluded and/or subjects of bullying i’ve noticed (oftentimes from their own family), which is part of the reason why they frequently grow up lacking a feeling of “belonging” or feel like “outsiders”; they deep down crave to be accepted and embraced/have fans/supporters

aquarius stelliums often struggle with fears of abandonment which contributes more to their isolation habits and independent “i dont need anyone but me and my spotify playlists” nature

they despise being controlled, tied down or told what to do; often if you tell an aquarius not to do something they’ll go out of their way to do it, even if they initially didn’t want to do said thing lol (the house that’s in aquarius will show the area of life in which they “rebel” the most; or are the most uncontrollable/free/independent)
