"look tiny! there's mummy!" gio pointed out to the sideline where sure enough alessia was warming up, just about to be subbed into the match with her best friend ella around 55 minutes into the match.

you waving to her very enthusiastically, a wide grin on your face as alessia waved back as she had a similar smile on her face, blowing you a quick kiss before taking off her sub bib and taking her coat off readying herself to take the pitch.

you were sat just a little behind the dugout, it was the first time you were this close to the pitch, usually being up in a box where the players on the pitch would look incredibly small from up where you'd usually sit in wembley.

but nevertheless you were sitting proudly with your england shirt on russo on the back in big capital letters with of course non other than the number 23 splayed on your back. ear defenders sitting tightly on your head, keeping out the loud crowds which were chanting along.

allowing you to enjoy the match without getting upset that your ears were hurting from the loud screams. you didn't have the vaguest clue of what was going on, but you were happy to be surrounded by your family and especially watching your mummy play football. that was the most important thing and one of if not your favourite thing to watch.

the game carried on and you carried on chanting when you saw your uncles chant as well as cheering when you needed to.

until it happened.

the stadium erupted, the screams and cheers were so loud that some of the noise actually made its way through your ear defenders. all you could hear was your uncles and your grandparents screaming that they'd won.

you didn't know what they'd won, but you were happy nevertheless. maybe they'd won a chocolate bar, and then maybe mummy would be able to share some with you, in your mind that would be pretty cool if that was what happened cause whenever you did something good or won a small game at your football team mummy would get you a small chocolate bar for afterwards.

your mummy claiming it was a way to add some energy back into your body after running around for so long, you didn’t care the importance of it, you were getting a chocolate bar and that’s all that mattered.

but instead after the whistle blew, the girls didn't win a big chocolate bar as instead there was a stage being wheeled onto the middle of the pitch.

"what that for?" you asked pointing to the people who were bringing the stage up onto the pitch for the award ceremony.

"so that the girls and your mummy can get their medals!" luca beamed, as you sat confused now. "so they don't win any chocolate?" you asked innocently playing with the match program in your hand, a laugh coming from both luca and gio.

a frown appearing on your face, one for mummy not winning any chocolate but two for the fact your uncles were laughing and hadn't included you in the joke.

"tiny, they don't win chocolate. they'll get a shiny gold medal" gio says in between laughs at your cuteness, you pulling a face at the sound of a gold medal.

"dat sounds boring." you pulled an unamused look as gio and luca then try to explain to you the importance of the win today, but really it just flew in one ear and out the other as you caught the eye line of ella and georgia sending them a big wave and a grin, the two girls sending you an equally enthusiastic wave and grin.

"can i see mummy now?" you turned to your nonna who knew you were sitting on, the girls lining up to get their medals. waiting in the german team to finish up getting there's.

"she'll be over once they've done this part, i promise" carol smiled at you as you nodded, your nonna never broke a promise to you so your turned your attention back to the pitch. as you waited patiently, watching each girl go up onto the stage and shake the line of hands of people that apparently were very important before the medal was placed around their necks.

and your nonna stuck to her promise, as soon as the trophy was lifted and the fireworks and confetti came shooting into the air as well as the photos had been took with the trophy. alessia was jogging over, medal around her neck in your direction.

"mummy!" you cheered as she reached the barrier, hugging her brothers and parents before your basically jumped into her arms.

"look!" mummy showed you her medal and it was just like the one your uncles had just been describing to you, shiny and gold with a purple ribbon. you giggling at yourself and the funny faces which you could see of yourself in the medal.

"see it's not so boring is it!" gio pointed out as you shook you head still making funny faces which were all distorted in the shininess of the medal.

"do you want to wear it?" your mummy asked, one hand on the purple hand that was around her neck as you nodded, alessia quickly taking the medal off and placing the heavy medal around your neck.

a big smile appearing on your face as you were still surrounded by your family. "oh let me take a photo!" carol got out quickly, getting her phone from her pocket and taking a few photos of your mummy and you with the medal.

you sat in your mummy's arms as she spoke to carol, telling her that you would see them soon as mummy walked to into the center of the pitch where all the confetti was and the rest of the team.

"mummy?"

"yes baby" she smiled at you as you had a small look of confusion on your face, "is this what you won?" you asked holding up the medal in your hand, the gold plated medal already being bigger than your hand.

"yep, it's pretty cool isn't it" mummy said with the same smile that had not left her face all day, you nodding in agreement.

"but do you not win any chocolate cause gio said you wouldn't" you frowned a little, you thought that a big chocolate fountain would be cool, plus when you won a little tournament mummy would always buy you chocolate bar as a reward.

"oh lovie, we won a big trophy i'll show you it later. but if you want chocolate there'll be plenty at the after party i'm sure i can get you some" mummy explained as your frown turned into a small smile as you approached the other girls on the pitch.

you mood perking back up, you were getting your chocolate reward and you'd been given your mummy's cool medal so life right now was pretty cool.

"TINY!" ella yelled for you, as alessia placed you on the ground as you ran towards her.

"oo that's a cool medal you've got!" ella held up the medal inspecting it as if it wasn't the same gold medal that hung around her neck, you nodding "it's not mine, it's mummy's!" you cleared up as ella gasped in disbelief.

"your telling me that they didn't get our biggest player a medal?" ella asked her voice over exaggerated as you shook your head, the medal still hanging around your neck.

"no, but mummy said she'll get me some chocolate afterwards" you smiled, you weren't letting the chocolate be forgotten about by anyone.

"oh, well that's way better than a silly medal!" ella scoffed playfully as you nodded enthusiastically as you both began to list off your favourite chocolate.

alessia being left to do a small few interview with reporters on the pitch before going around and congratulating some of her teammates she hadn't seen after the final whistle due to running straight to where you were after the whistle.

you and ella found your own fun though, roping mary in to join as you began to have a confetti fight. ella trying to show your how to slide on your knees although you weren't the best at it as you wouldn't have the best run up and instead face plant the pitch, you confidently saying it didn't hurt - although the small red scuffs on your knees said differently.

"mummy look at me" you giggled as you were covered in silver and gold confetti. it sticking in your hair and on your cheeks.

a warm smile came from alessia as she crouched down to your height, "how has that happened?" she asked with a small laugh. she knowing exactly how it happened after watching you play with ella and mary in the confetti but never the less loved hearing your side of the story.

"me and mary were rolling around, like this!" you yelled over the loud noise that was still in the stadium, pulling your mummy over to the ground where the confetti was, you beginning to roll around just like you'd done with mary and ella a few minutes ago, the confetti sticking to your face and clothes.

"you do it mummy!" you sat up for a minute begging mummy to join you as she watched on, mummy looking unsure.

"go on less have some fun with the little one!" mary urged as she joined you in the fun of throwing and rolling around in the confetti. alessia huffing playfully before joining the two of you.

a moment alessia would cherish for the rest of her life, a moment where the camera didn't matter, a moment where she was in her own little bubble making memories with you and her friends.

a moment that would never and could never be forgotten.

You and Nika had a very long history. Including the fact that you had been her very first kiss and her yours. Every second you had with eachother was filled with tension but you two were so used to it that everybody saw it but you, including Nikas boyfriend who had been against you since day one. Its obvious you like Nika. Its unknown if the feelings are reciprocated until after a few too many drinks after the Big East Championship win, where Nika speaks on her sober thoughts

“Beboooo”

A loud familiar accented voice shouts from behind. The corners of my mouth instinctively curl as I turn around to see my Croat with a shotgunned twisted tea in her grasp as she reaches her arms out to wrap them around my neck

“Bebo i’ve been looking everywhere for you. You know I hate to drink without you” She speaks loudly unaware of her surroundings. Her breath fills my nose with tinges of alcohol.

“Niks I just got here, its packed and traffic got in the way” I reply in a sorry tone as I grab her hips to move her closer to me inside the bar. People were everywhere celebrating the win with our huskies.

“Also quiet down a bit, I dont want your boyfriend to complain about me again” I add on.

“Who cares about him. Tonights about me and I want to be with you” Nika replies quickly, never breaking eye contact. Nika Mühl, my bestfriend who is so incredibly hard to resist and equally confusing told me she wants to be with me.

“You always say that when you drink” I say laughing while I release my grasp on her hips only to grab her hand instead and lead us to the bathroom

“Cause its always what im thinking” She says trailing behind me as we go into the big stall

“You’re so flirty when you’re drunk Niks. I wish I had drunk yous confidence.” I say locking the door behind me

“Me too” She whispers and sits on the toilet seat which illicits a slight chuckle from me. I can feel her eyes boring holes into my back but I choose to ignore it

Shes just had too much to drink

I walk towards the sink right next to her and grab a paper towel to wet. Grabbing the now wet towel I kneel to put it against Nikas face holding it in place as I use my other hand to move strands of her hair out of her face. Nika raises a hand to hold against mine. The towel drips a few drops from the added pressure as make eye contact with her.

“You take such good care of me.” She whispers and leans in.

Im stuck

I try to move my head to create some distance but I can’t. Instead I speak

“I try my best”

“Well its better than anyone else. I think about you, you know. Like all the time.” She answers honestly closing her eyes softly as if to go to sleep

My heart skips a beat at her confession

Of course she thinks about you. You’ve been friends forever

“I would hope you think about your friends most of the time” I reply putting a hand on her back and moving in a circular motion to which

“Youre hearing me bebo but you got to really listen.” She whispers into my ear as she lays her head into the crook of my neck. I can feel her soft lips against my skin making me grip back just slightly.

“Take me to yours please.” She manages to mumble out.

“Yea lets go” I say to her as I stand up picking her up with me. As we walk out the bar she continues to mumble unintelligible words. The whole car ride back to the dorms she was yapping but not loud enough to be understood. By the time I managed to lay her on my couch she was practically knocked out and exhausted from talking.

“Were you paying attention?” She whispers as I sit on the couch next to hers

“Yup”

“What was I saying?”

“How amazingly amazing I am” I say looking at her. The dimmed lights and the tired look on her face made her 100x more beautiful. It was hard to look away

“I love the way you look at me” Nika confesses

I’m silent for a moment. I didnt realize I was that obvious. I figure by now if she knew I was practically in love with her she would of left me by now. She stands up from the couch to stand infront of me. The things she does leaves me in shock , they always do but this time I felt not in control.

I don’t want her to stop

“You’re so obvious and I was so oblivious. I started noticing the things you did for me so late. Im so sorry Bebo” She says whispering to me in an almost sultry tone that was hidden behind her sorrowful mask. She takes her chance to sit on my lap, straddling me as she grabs the sides of my face with her hands

“You’re drunk Nika and Nahiem wouldn’t nt like this” I manage to muster the strength to speak. Her breath dances on my lips and I can feel her warm body radiate on mine.

She had a lot to drink, she is tipsy, and she has a boyfriend.

“I only got with him to make you jealous. I only pretended to drink so you could take care of me. I hate how you always say friend or best friend when referring to me. I want to be more. I want you. I want you to love me openly so I can love you openly bebo. Volim te.”

“How long?”

“A couple months” She answers honestly

“Try a few years then you can say you hate being called a friend” Gripping her thighs I slide them up to her waist as I go in for a hug, my face going into the nook of her neck as I give her a slight kiss to which she lets out a slight sigh

“Really bebo we confess our love and you go for a hug that is so you.” She laughs her arms squeezing me with each bounce of her body

“Well if you were hoping for a kiss Id rather wait until after we go on a date. You know I love a good build up.” I say as I release my grip but not my grasp and go to look at her, my Nika.

“So you’re basically trying to say my confession wasn’t enough.” She asks jokingly. Her eyes switching from my eyes to my lips as if she couldn’t make up her mind.

“No it definitely was. You’re right I think you do deserve a kiss” I say smugly as I look up at the girl on my lap

“Good” She says her hand cupping my face as she pulls me in. Our lips touch and I can feel her smile as her other hand goes to grasp my hair. My hands grip her waist a little too much. She lets out a groan and slightly grinds on thigh.

“Wait” I say opening my eyes and releasing myself from her grasp

“Whats wrong bebo, im sorry did I go to far” She ask me in an earnest tone

“No, trust me I want to but I really do mean it when I say I wanna take you on a date first. Let me spoil you baby then we can see what follows I promise.” I tell her honestly

“I should of just pounced on you when I first started liking you” Nika admits with a large smile on her face, her blush evident even with the lack of light

“Even then I would of still found a way to treat you out first” I say before going in for another kiss of her pink lips

you hold your breath, bracing for impact. steve is frozen next to you, perched on the edge of the couch as if getting ready to run at the first sign of danger.

all week the two of you have agonized over this. telling everyone that youre now together was a given. obviously it wouldnt be a secret, but telling everyone seemed simple at first. now, with dozens of eyes staring at you: its terrifying.

especially when the news is met with complete and utter silence.

mike yawns. el and max stifle giggles.

"youre all shockingly quiet right now." you finally say, hating this immensely.

robin looks up at the ceiling, suddenly finding the wheelers basement a fascinating thing. will picks at the carpet beneath him and dustin taps his leg impatiently on the ground.

lucas, bless him, has the decency to smile at you. "thats great, y/n."

"did we..." steve scratches the back of his neck. "did we, uh. miss something?"

"why the hell is everyone acting so weird?" you butt in, now really starting to wonder if you and steve did something heinous to deserve the weird silent treatment.

jonathan shifts on the floor, and your eyes narrow at him instantly. crossing your arms, you jut your chin out at him. "fess up, byers. whats going on?"

his eyes widen slightly, and nancy, who is sitting next to him holding his hand, bites back a smile. your eyes narrow even more and jonathan finally releases a laugh.

"stop glaring at everyone, bug." he looks at you fondly. "i think we're all just wondering who won."

your face scrunches in confusion. "what...?"

dustin jumps up from his seat, sick of the anticipation. "just spit it out already! did i win? for the love of god, please tell me you guys got together on july 11th. please."

nancy raises her hand. "or july 16th. id prefer that date, actually."

"what about y/n's birthday? i thought everyone agreed my date made the most sense." will speaks up, looking eagerly at you.

an offended scoff escapes your mouth when you finally realize whats going on. "that bet seriously cant still be going on."

"answer the question, y/n!" dustin wails, practically choking on the taste of victory of the $30 that went into the betting pool. "when exactly did you and steve finally seal the deal, huh?"

"what the hell is this kid talking about?" steve looks around the room, completely confused. "why does it matter when we got together?"

jonathan explains before you can. "we all placed bets on when youd get together. lucas and max were out of the running a while ago. but me, nance, dustin, and will are still in."

"i, for one, am still personally offended that i wasnt allowed to join the bet when i found out about it." robin says, looking pointedly at him. "just so you know."

"sorry," jonathan says without any real sympathy. "rules are rules."

your face burns wildly. "y'all are insane and this is such a gross invasion of privacy-"

"screw privacy! tell me when steve found a pair of balls and asked you out." dustin stumbles in front of you and steve now, panting. "i need the money!"

"dustin!"

steve places his hands on his hips. "i already had balls, thank you very much."

you elbow him. "please stop talking."

"the kid was doubting my manhood-"

"do you enjoy having my elbow in your ribs?"

mike, no longer finding this conversation amusing, stands up and claps his hands. "alright, im bored. will," he turns to him. "clearly they didnt get together on y/n's birthday. they were locked in a death lair and not even steve is dumb enough to make their anniversary that date. so youre out."

steve wants to argue with him, but admittedly he cant.

mike then turns to dustin. "it wasnt july 11th, either. considering the fact that we had funerals to attend and we all know y/n's crippling guilt complex."

"hey!"

"hes not wrong, angel."

you elbow steve again and he doubles over in pain.

then mike turns to nancy. "and it wasnt july 16th because its currently the 27th and theres no way in hell harrington would be able to keep his mouth shut for that long."

again steve really wants to argue with mike, but, unfortunately, hes right.

mike finally turns to jonathan, sighing tiredly. "which leaves us with you and your guess of july 19th. aka: the only possible date left. wow, shocker! jonathan byers correctly guessed something about y/n henderson!" he spins around, glaring at you as if this somehow all your fault. "are we done here now?"

robin, not at all whispering quietly, leans over to max. "this kid has some serious issues."

"like you wouldnt believe," the girl mumbles. "trust me."

dustin shoves mike out of the way, inadvertently causing the teen to stumble into jonathan and fall on top of his sister. "hes wrong, right? please tell me hes wrong. y/n, im your brother. we are blood."

"well, technically mike is wrong. july 19th isnt when we got together." you begin to say, raising your voice when dustin starts to cheer wildly. "it was july 20th, so mike isnt wrong about jonathan winning."

two things happen at once.

first, dustin falls to his knees in despair, screaming in agony as max and el cover their ears and glare at him.

the second thing that happens is dustin regaining his senses and then tackling jonathan, with nancy and will right behind him.

its a mess of screams and screeches as jonathan tries to defend himself, but you simply press your back against steves chest and watch the storm unfold with slight vindication.

serves the fuckers right for betting on your private life like a game of poker.

"how much money do you think our relationship ended up being worth?" steve asks you, wincing under his breath when he sees dustin pinch jonathans nose.

"better be at least $20. if be offended if its anything less than that."

he laughs, the sensation of it sending vibrations down your own body. he kisses the crown of your head. "thats my girl."

"how did you know?" dustin has jonathan pinned now. "how do you always win?"

"get off me! it was just a lucky guess-"

"that was $30 you asshole!"

you hum, pleased. "think i can convince jonathan to give me some of his cut?"

steve laughs again. "only if you give me a percentage as well."

you know, i was thinking back to this show again, i watched three seasons of it and that was all that i could tomach and you know what? no.

i dont accept it

i dont care, it was a bad show, it was an objectively bad show and i dont accept that everyone else decided that it was good, i dont care, it was a bad show and im going to tell you why.

emotional terrorism

maybe im a simpleton but i am someone who cares quite a lot about catharsis in my stories. this show refused to grant that, adamantly and violently. im not saying i need a happy ending, i am more than capable of enjoying bittersweet or even tragic stories, but i need a sense of completeness, some satisfaction, some release, some sense that things matter or meant something. this show insisted on refusing to give that. all this show was interested in was get an emotional reaction out of you. it was the emotional equivalent of a jump scare. it was convinced that if it made you feel bad enough people would confuse that with beeing powerful and deep. you could get the same reaction by walking up to someone on the street and kicking them in the nuts. and it would take about as much subtlety or artistry.

you could tell this was one of those shows that were made on the writer's room, not by storyboarders or artists, by "comedians". by people with english degrees. so many scenes of characters just standing around and talking. so many "jokes" that were clearly meant to be funny as something you read on a piece of paper or on a tweet and chuckle as you read it but as animation it just gave limp, stagnant scenes. so much dialog that were references and quips and puns and fast witticisms of the type you come up in the shower when thinking of clever comebacks.

there were so many fucking scenes where everything would stop and a character would launch on some stupid profound monologue about life and philosophy and psychology and relationships. it was like the writers were trying on for size paragraphs of their future memoirs or self help books. so much dialog that was begging for an award for writing. so many "mic drop" moments that were designed to be quoted. i find that the best writing is not the one that you can just quote out of context as a cool pithy phrase. a lot of the best writing ive seen in my life is meaningless when devoid of context, is inextricable of the scene and indeed of the entire story surrounding it but in here i can almost see the seams where the writers look at the camera waiting to see if you are impressed

3. inconsistent tone

this show wanted to eat its cake and then still have it. there are stories that manage to deftly weave in and out of comedic moments into serious moments. everything everywhere all at once does an amazing job jumping from the stupidest, most childish jokes into the most profound commentary about human nature, sometimes doing both at the same time and it worked, one didint cheapen the other.

in here though, it wanted to both have a completly absurd world with the stupidest characters ever and then somehow make us care for it all as if the show hadnt shot itself in the foot. it wanted us to see caroline being in love with what is clearly three children in a trenchcoat and then take her seriously as an adult, to treat any forther relationship drama she has as if it werent completly farcical.

4. ugly animation

it continued the blight that is take over adult animation by doing that disgusting repugnant paper puppet rigged interpolated quasi flash animation that only gives you stiff poses and movements and incredibly boring shots of characters standing in 3/4 perspective in front of the camera. it dull and flat and clunky and ugly, and the character designs were ugly. the noses were ugly and the mouths were ugly and the hairs were ugly and the eyes were ugly. it was all ugly. the backgrounds were fucking ugly and the colors were ugly and it was an ugly show to look at. unbearably so. and even the obligatory "weird" stylized scenes put in to shake things off and try to pretend that it was visually interesting (for like one scene per season) were also fucking ugly.

5. it had not interesting point to make

all it could do was insist and belavor and extemporize about how this one guy sucks and also most people kind of suck but specifically this one guy really sucks and he is not going to get better, or maybe he will? eh maybe, but not really, because he sucks. and we are going to make you like him because we are the writers and we are going to make him relatable and charismatic and sympathetic but actually no he sucks, you fell for it! and what does it say about you that you almost kind of liked him eh????. season after season of him, and in case you almost found anything redeemable about him, we are going to make him even worse, painfully unsubtly so, we are going to make him look at the camera and say that he sucks, because that is the level of nuance we think you can handle, dear viewer. this is called "self aware writing" and its postmodern and meta, which means its clever.

i fucking hate this show and the more i think about it the angrier it makes me, and what makes me more angriest of all is that people like it. its popular. it won awards i think. its largely recognized as a good show and its not! it sucks and its bad and if you like it you are stupid.

• I want to preface this by saying art and musical preferences are subjective. Everything below is just my personal opinion and preferences.

• I also don't want anyone to confuse criticism with hating. I like Inon Zur but I have some thoughts on his musical involvement in TES 6.

I *really* hope that they get someone besides Inon Zur to conduct the OST for TES VI.

The Music is perhaps my favorite part of TES. There's been many times when I'm totally burned out or bored with the games, but I never grow tired of the music. For example I have fallen asleep to the Oblivion OST more times than I can remember and the Morrowind theme is my favorite piece of video game music of all time. (Inon Zur's theme for Fallout New Vegas is my second favorite!!!)

Hearing the Arena and Daggerfall themes on an old burned CD were actually my first exposure to TES in any direct form and were the impetus to my later interest in the series. The music of TES matters so deeply to me. I never want to feel the urge to avoid or feel disappointed by any of it. It would bum me TF out if I was disappointed by the music of TES 6.

For Inon Zur, I LOVE his work on the Fallout soundtracks, but I just do not think his style works for TES.

I really don't like his music in the teaser they used for the now (old) trailer for TESVI. I also don't particularly like Zur's work on the blades OST either. To be clear, his TES music so far is *fine* but its not excellent like the OSTs for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim were. His TES music is..just fine..

Honestly there are parts of the Blade soundtrack that sound like unused tracks from Fallout (eg. "A worthy foe") Zur loves him some horns, large brass instruments, and drums and while those instruments are fine, an overuse of them just doesn't't work in TES.

His typical style is just too brassy and "hard" for TES IMO. Even when he's trying to be soft with his music it just sounds off. Almost looming and rough. TES is fantasy, it needs flutes, soft vocal harmonies, and strings. Even the parts of ths Blades OST with strings and harmonies sound weirdly harsh and coarse for what they're trying to do. His music has a "dark" tone to me, like everything is tinged in a looming danger. IDK how to describe it. There are also moments in the Blades OST where it feels like he's trying to imitate Jeremy Soule's style and it just falls flat.

I dont believe Zur operates with the necessary softness, warmth, and pulse lowering harmony required for a good TES soundtrack. Yes there are dungeon and combat themes in all the games, but the most beloved TES music is the themes and ambient tracks. Inon Zur's Fallout work is incredible but his style naturally meshes really well with the Fallout games. Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic artist, but his forays into TES music have been unsatisfying to me personally and doesn't mesh with the series.

I want to be as clear as I can because im not trying to bash him. *Inon Zur is a really good musician and conductor* I just don't think his style works for TES.

I love most or Zur's work, but I hope they get someone with more fitting musical style to make the OST for TES VI.

Plot:

• The Stanley Parable (2013) started off as nothing more than a video game with a basic ai Narrator repeating a script with minor changes every run.

• Eventually, the Narrator gains consciousness but keeps to the game, trapping himself in repetition as opposed to trying to escape

• He has major issues with the endings such as the zending and the confusion ending. While he knows he was purely artificial originally, he prefers to ignore it and believe he is a real being with free will.

• Aside from the Narrator, everything in the game is coded. Stanley is just a vessel for the player, all the objects don't really talk, ad everything is planned, despite what the Narrator believes.

• He remembers every reset. Though not every ending in incredible detail. Endings like the Zending, Confusion, and the Skip Button are vague memories in his head. The skip button being a time-sped up ending and becoming a blur to him that he forgets normally.

• The Narrator knows about the developers, but cannot speak to them.

• All Stanley's input is from the players. The Narrator doesn't know this and just thinks that Stanley either has terrible memory or has vastly different mood swings.

• In the Not Stanley Ending, he realises that the player isnt the Stanley he believes he knows and splits them. Leaving the Player above the two doors room.

• The Narrator, in the HD remake, cant believe that there are real people. He knows of them, but knowing that they are with him in the game will give him an existential crisis/make him distressed, and as a result, reset the game (see: confusion, zending). So the game has a feature where it wipes his memories from the Player unplugging the phone up until they split.

• Things change when Ultra Deluxe comes out.

• The game is revamped completely, The Narrator can feel how smoother the game feels, especially since its running in unity despite it looking exactly like its 2013 version on the source engine (? fact check this)

• One major change is that the Narrator can hear some players as they play the game. Given that they have a working mic and all.

• Surprisingly he doesn't mind it. Enjoying getting reactions from his script despite the fact its real people.

• Ultra Deluxe loses the feature to reset the game if the Narrator gets too upset. Instead, its a plannes forced reset.

• Eventually, he ends up with a player whom he enjoys hearing the responses to. Responding to the Narrator like they were in a conversation as the player rambles. Internally, he's scared to break the fourth wall. Afraid it might spook the player and lose this one shred of genuine connection.

• They continue like this for a while. The narrator subtly changing the delivery of his lines to better suit the players moods. In turn the player responds as usual, without noticing that the Narrators dialogue is changing.

• Its subtle. Being more harsh and boring when they hear the player talking about an exam they should be studying for and not here playing the game so they can leave and do well. Being more soft when theres that all too familiar hurt tone in their voice while they play. Being a bit more snarky when they laugh at everything he says. The player even goes to the starry dome to study, and the Narrator feels like he is hanging out with a friend, knowing that the player would never go into the other room. (They have, once. then never again)

• At some point, the Narrator slips up and responds to something the player says and as while he fears a negative reaction, he gets a surprised gasp followed by a few noises he cant place before a "Is that new Narry dialogue?! lets fucking go!"

• The narrator sighs in relief before chuckling a bit. "Language, dear player."

• The player pauses. Now there is the silence he was afraid of.

• "...Hello?"

• "Hello, Player."

• More silence.

• "This... this isnt prerecorded right? No voice recognition system in the game-?"

• "Prerecorded?! I'll have you know I do all of my voice lines live for you players, thank you." He scoffs, somewhat offended

• "Have you been listening to every players reactions this whole time?!"

• "Well not every player of the Stanley Parable. But right now its just been you that ive been hearing for the past few months."

• "Oh my god you must've heard me talk about your voice so much- im so sorry."

• He laughs, surprisingly genuine. "Nonsense! It's been a delight hearing your responses and your voice, Player-"

• "Oswin." The player says gently, "My name is Oswin, Narrator."

• "...Well, Oswin. To be perfectly honest, I adore hearing your responses to the game and to my script. You are one of the rare few who respond as though we were in conversation and truth be told, its a welcome change to the players who tell me to piss off or talk to themselves."

• They snort. "You mean the youtubers?"

• "Definitely."

• Thus starts A friendship between Oswin and the Narrator

• With this new connection, the Narrator slowly gets used to the idea of sentience and the real world. Feeling more and more human as the friendship helps him understand his world and beyond.

• He gets used to manipulating the game around him. Locking the game to be only on Oswin's computer and being able to interact with him through screens.

• While this happens, the game slowly starts to glitch. Stanley becomes sentient, going through the same dillema the Narrator had, however the Narrator is able to reassure him and help him understand.

• It takes a bit of work, considering that Stanley up until their instance of the game locked onto Oswin's PC had undergone every ending an unfathomable amount of times. With his sentience he has to process the fact that both he and the narrator were trapped in the game with no free will.

• At this time, the Narrator manages to enter the real world. With some help of coding magic and Oswin's powers alowing him to exist in the real world.

• The Adventure Line grows sentient too. However due to the fact that the Line was never fully fleshed out as a character, when it came to the real world, it turned into a teenage girl by the name of Lynne.

• Stanley also enters the real world.

The three of them are able to pop in and out of the Parable. It being treated more like their second home

Because (I think) it’s kind of rare that q!Bad is depicted accurately in.. most qsmp ship fics. And I feel like q!Bad always becomes.. obsessed with romance with q!Forever in many 4halo fics?? Or super open + emotionally stable?? I don’t know how to explain it, but that’s why I’m curious of your thoughts (because I’ve read your fics and 100% trust your characterizations, especially of BBH cubitos <3)

hihi always down to ramble. and i agree, a lot of bad's flaws are smoothed over in 4halo fics, which makes him incredibly ooc. also, i dont think that these mischaracterizations are necessarily bad, i understand that in fluff fics (or angst fics, which im guilty of) sometimes theres no room in tone to fully capture all of q!bad's complexities. but that doesn't mean i cant have some gripes!

i dont think this is exclusive to 4halo, but 4halo is also bad's current biggest ship, so a lot of it just happens to fall on it. but i really hate how fanon!bad gets stripped down to a mere love interest who is just...very perfect in how he interacts with romance. he wants to go on cute dates, he confesses in a very sweet way. he is kind and nice and a little insecure, and is just so boring. its very much reminiscent of old skephalo fics, where bad is seen as "innocent" and then any other interesting trait of his gets stripped away. i also end up feeling im reading about a highschooler, when q!bad is 11k+ and cc!bad (obviously influential of his character) is in his late 20s.

again, i understand why people write 4halo on cute dates and first kisses. thats what fanfic is for! but i cant help but see the entirety of the ao3 page full of these very...allo-typical romance plots and think "...he would not fucking say that." q!bad is messy as fuck! if you don't interpret him as arospec, then hes at the very least repressed, and not in a cute YA romance way. a 1k fic of pining that ends in a nice love confession just doesnt convince me im sorry!

anyways im also not immune to q!bad butchering in 4halo fics! ill admit that, in writing the hanahaki au, i couldn't really find time to fit a lot of q!bad's humor into it, and he ended up more openly angsty and sad and vulnerable then he really is, or would ever be. so i totally get it, and im fine if other qbad viewers despise how he's written in it. however i will stand by the fact that q4halo would never pursue a traditional relationship together, and i chose the ending to be ambiguous because thats how i believe their relationship (and feelings) are: ambiguous. that's why, to me, 4halo is so good. i don't want to read about them confessing their feelings. i want to read about how their relationship is an undefined, confusing mess that will never be defined, and im just so surprised that there aren't more fics like that out there.

this was recommended to me by a friend who swore up and down i would like this and tbh, i did! it was way funnier than i thought it would be, but kinda towards the middle (maybe more 2/3rds into the movie) it starts becoming more romance and drama heavy and kind of loses the comedic edge i was really liking about it. i also thought kat liking and disliking heath ledger was based more on whims sometimes. like i understood why she'd get pissed with him sometimes but i'd be confused other times, and also equally as confused as to why she decided she liked him again. idk maybe i just dont understand straight people

Inside Out 2

okay so controversial opinion perhaps but i actually liked this one better than the first. HOWEVER, its not like i was necessarily the biggest fan of the first one. it's not like i hated it, i just never really clicked with it, i guess.

i think generally speaking the first one is more cohesive and more creative with its concepts, and has a bigger 'Pixar gutpunch' in the form of Bing Bong, but I thought Riley herself didn't really feel like a character and I found Sadness to be really annoying. so it was very appealing to Me, Specifically, that Sadness wasn't a main character and the other emotions got to play a bigger role (I am especially a fan of all the new emotions, even the ones that don't do shit like Ennui) and also that Riley feels like a PERSON

even if i think the first one had a bigger heartstrings-pulling moment this one overall made me feel way more. mostly cringe and secondhand embarrassment but it was out of recognition like "ohhh fuck ive been like that before". i saw this opening weekend amidst a sea of kids and there were some moments that i (and mostly other adults) were the only ones laughing.

ESPECIALLY a big fan of the vault with all of Riley's secrets. Pouchy was the best character actually. idk I just had fun with this one. I probaaaaaably wouldn't watch it again for a while but if my little brother put this on I would pay attention

La La Land (2016)

i did not like La La Land

i am not at all an expert on music nor musicals so i don't really feel like i can critique the musical aspect of it too deeply, but i CAN tell you that i didn't really vibe with any of the music and at times i found myself like. daydreaming instead of paying attention to what the characters were singing. i didn't really believe in her and ryan gosling's chemistry and i generally found his character to be irritating.

the most enjoyable parts of the movie to me were probably the musical sequences without any actual singing. i do like them tap dancing in the street and then their date where they start flying. i thought those were well-directed. in fact i thought there were a few well-directed and well-edited sequences in the movie. unfortunately i just never found the actual plot music or characters to be on par with the visuals.

i have not seen pretty much anything else that released that year re: Best Actress nominations (although Elle has been on my list) but i really find it hard to believe Emma won her first Oscar for this. idk i know a lot of people love this movie but it truly did nothing to me.

i guess i will say one of the things i DID like was the ending. how it didn't really work out, the silent musical scene at the end over a montage of what could've been. i like that there wasn't a happy ending just because generally i like when movies do that (if it feels believable anyways lol). but it didn't hit for me as hard as it should have because like i said it's not like i really cared for them to be together nor did i care for ryan gosling's jazz journey. i was a bit more invested in emma's acting journey but not enough to really say i truly cared about what happened to her.

idk. pretty visuals but weak everything else. 40/100 maybe

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

soooooo they put on the LOTR movies (the extended editions, specifically) which are the ones i watched. and i have something to admit. i have TRIED, several times, to get into the lord of the rings. i tried reading the hobbit. i ordered a fancy boxset of the LOTR trilogy and tried to read them. i watched the first movie but it took me 3 tries to complete it.

so i thought, okay. everyone raves about these movies. they HAVE to be good. maybe my attention span is fried. recently i've been getting tickets to movies that i could technically watch for free at home but buying tickets forces me to actually pay attention to them since i paid money and i won't be reaching for my phone or stopping to do something else. so i got myself 3 tickets to all 3 movies, back to back to back.

the first one was okay. i've seen it before. i found myself daydreaming midway through because i'd seen it already. i don't HATE it. i think a lot of the characters are generally very charming and likeable. i love samwise gamgee. i really liked borimir. frankly i could do without the elf lady because the way she speaks drove me insane and made me physically uncomfortable. the plot was a slow burn to build up the Fellowship, which I appreciated. surely the second movie would build upon this.

i do think, generally, that I liked the second movie better. i think Gollum is an interesting character and he was being performed and animated VERY well, especially considering the time when it comes to CGI effects. i liked merry and pippin's journey becoming more like heroes. the big battle at the end was done very well. and obviously i thought frodo and sam were a highlight.

that being said there were parts of the movie that i just did not care nor did i understand. im already hard of hearing and having to listen to british accents without any subtitles means that i legit didn't know what characters were saying maybe 1/3rd of the time. the new subplot of the. kingdom of guys. didnt work for me. i cant even remember what the hell the random kingdom of guys was about or named or anyone relevant because i didnt understand what was even going on. it was very fun seeing karl urban though

despite liking a lot of the movie, a lot of it just weighed down on me to the point that when i walked out i was like, "do i REALLY wanna sit through another 3 hours of this tomorrow?" and i decided i didn't and got a ticket refund.

at least the directing is fun. a lot of fantasy movies feel kinda boring and without personality but peter jackson really had a specific flair when it came to directing these.

One Piece (2023)

i didn't finish it so i wouldn't be rating it yet but i actually thought this was pretty fun! this could've been way messier but i think so far it looks like everyone is having fun and its juuuuust wacky enough. my only complaint is that zoro is waaaaaay too serious but idk maybe it gets better, i only watched maybe...4 episodes? i dont remember. i do look forward to finishing it. eventually

Young Woman and the Sea

well this was the sleeper hit i wasn't expecting to like as much as i did

i was bored one day and wanted to see a movie but nothing really jumped out at me that i hadn't seen yet. i ended up picking this one because I have seen Daisy Ridley in NOTHING. i will not watch Star Wars unless someone pays me actual money so I was curious to see her acting in something and picked this one. ive seen sports movies. i figured this one would be like a cheesy inspirational story but hey those arent necessarily bad

and yes, it IS cheesy and inspirational, but i liked it. a lot? it's 'based on a true story' which probably means that there are some embellishments but i found it genuinely compelling, between her childhood after surviving the measles to the way she and other young women were treated as swimmers, even during the olympics.

i thought the swimming seasons were decently thrilling. like, idk as someone who has attempted to watch competitive swimming it's just not really a glamorous sport to watch but the way this was shot and directed and the fact that they literally filmed it IN THE OCEAN, *in the English channel*, means that i was actually really invested in her managing this feat, both as a personal character motive and also for what it represented more widely when it came to women's physical accomplishments.

idk i guess im just kinda in shock i enjoyed it as much as i did. this was probably the movie i walked out of with the most positive outlook of all month. i'd watch it again.

RIGHT ON! its okay, i would have given random tips but i wasnt sure if there was something specific you were looking for!

my inspo largely comes from other media. tv shows, movies, edits, fucking character ai bots, other fics; literally anything that i enjoy i typically wind up using in my fics. its not for me personally but plenty of people get inspired by music! songs and music videos

other fics are excellent inspo bc u can see how readers respond to tropes that they've done. age gap, dilf, aus, and stuff like that. its also rlly great to see characterization. as long as you're not plagiarizing then emulating and learning from other writers who are doing the same thing you do or want to do is excellent. i love reading fics hehe

ik that sounds like super basic and boring but having a repertoire of existing tropes and stuff is super great!

as for word usage, it's all super subjective bc my tastes and stuff will not match up for everyone. but if u like how i write and want to emulate it then there are a few things i can say! i focus mostly on smut and dialogue.

first, it's important to have a good vocabulary. knowing synonyms to words you want to say is important. u don't want to have a paragraph that uses the same word over and over again, you want to break it up and make it mentally appealing to read. it won't be interesting to readers if you don't expand your vocab!

i am primarily a smut writer so that's where most of my focus is on intentional word usage. all my narration and plot is pretty basic i'd say. nothing incredibly special except for my dialogue which i put a lot of thought into.

i don't use metaphors that much. so, say, for smut u won't catch me using "globes" in reference to tits. i much prefer to just come out and say breasts, tits, chest.

i also don't use like Correct anatomy language. so i don't use penis, testicles, vagina or clitoris. i use.......porn language bc that's what im writing; cock, pussy, cunt, clit. just to keep it......erotic bc i personally (again, subjective) find correct anatomy language to be more off-putting than erotic.

smut is where it becomes difficult to use broad language. there's only so many words you can use for a dick. so don't be afraid to bust out some wattpad words u know? length, member, etc. ik they can sometimes be cringey and u don't like them but use them at the right time and using it sparingly and most ppl won't rlly notice. it breaks up reading the word cock and dick over and over and over again for 2k words.

for some examples,

for dicks u can use; dick, cock, member, shaft, length

for the puth u can do; pussy, cunt, folds, core, sex isn't bad

clit i use clit, bud, and nub mostly...but ppl use pearl or button, i don't but it doesn't bother me when i see it

i also don't use flowery language. i know in creative writing or whatever it's common to use poetic word usage but i find it to be more confusing than anything. i can't read rlly flowery fics bc the meaning of what im reading just genuinely gets lost. it's all lost on me. i'd say im a much more direct writer with my words and scenes? i utilize a fair bit of narration and exposition in my writing.

i find dialogue style to be quite important. if you read my stuff (like the fics, we dont look at my word vomit LMAOOO) you'll usually see i make the characters talk in specific ways.

simon cuts off his words "goin'" instead of "going", "somethin'" instead of "something", like that. i dont use a ton of language to depict his accent other than that, i leave the leg work mostly up to the readers bc they know what he sounds like. but some writers do like british slang, "wanker", "mate", "innit" LMAO i just don't and thats my choice. i choose to just cut his words off and call it a day. he has a more casual way of speaking in Taking What You Need as compared to konig in Experience.

konig, in Experience, has a specific way of talking as well that is opposite to simon. he doesn't use contractions. i did that intentionally bc i wanted him to have a more intimidating, professional, cold kind of way of talking. "do not do it" comes across different than "don't do it"!

i personally would say that a large part of my characterization comes across in dialogue and the style of dialogue i choose. i think that makes it more enjoyable for readers!

all in all, i basically just emulate what i personally like to see in writing. that's how i keep finding it enjoyable. i love giving fics for ppl to read but if i didn't write straight up what I wanted to see then the actual physical task of writing would be a lot worse.

idk how helpful this was since i basically just told u.....what i like to do LMAOOOO but i hope it gives u some kind of idea of what i focus on and how i get my writing to be the way it is?

EDIT: important that i also use inclusive language to the best of my abilities!

instead of saying like "your cheeks turned red" i use "you feel your cheeks heat up" or something along those lines since people with darker skin tones won't have their cheeks turn red when they blush!! but feeling your cheeks BURN is smthn we've all experienced.

i also try not to use any "running your hands through your hair" bc not everyone can do that! i can't even do that i have curly hair hehe. an alternative would be pushing a stray strand out of your face or tucking some behind your ear or something like that.

also, i don't mention nipple color or vagina color or anything !

ok so after an hour im trying to figure out what truly went Right with this season and i think its the lack of trying to make everything ‘world ending’ and ‘big picture’. the witcher novels are at their most boring and confusing when it tries to do something weird and different with its world, through portals or timetravel. this story is not about those things and adding them is just, awkward. in a story about family and politics and the weight of life in this harsh world, suddenly bringing scifi elements in just falls flat and feels like someone trying to make complexity just for the sake of it. it takes the stakes from right out under your feet. the show has this same problem, which always frustrated me. instead of just cutting the weird dimension stuff it chose to lean more into the worst elements of the books. which is why i hated the second season so much. the monoliths are just not interesting. we dont need a reason for monsters being around, monsters are around because this is a fucking fantasy i dont need justification for the existence of a dragon in a fantasy novel. and to make it worse in the process of adding them in it got rid of the personal relationships between the witchers, the actually relevant past that still deeply affects geralt and ciri. 

The third season shines because its additions were Personal. Radovid and Jaskier, Vilgefortz and Tissaia, Fringilla and Francesca, Cahir and Ciri, Yennefer and Tissaia. It’s why Yennefer and Jaskier were the bright spot of season 2, adding in more relationships, more emotion and personal goals was what this story sorely needed. It makes the boring windows of insight we get into the royal courts of the book Interesting.  It’s hard to care about war happening off screen, it’s easy to care about fringilla’s precarious position or di and phil’s annoyance with radovid. I’m so incredible excited that they’ve finally figured this out and i cannot wait to see what they do with some of the best interpersonal relationships actually present in the novels.

n e ways, i found this highschool dropout au,,, im Sure you can guess how i feel abt dugout and tiderdrop together, but personal biases aside (its Icky to me and someday ill figure out why)..... lets read this fic.

(to prove i am Not taking things out of context, heres the whole fic)

FIRST of all, youre ognna notice that the prose is Boring, written in long and uninspired runon sentences. i dont wanna just bash on an inexperienced writer, but if youre gonna be this lazy about it.. who is it for :x

second, headcanoning mariquitas name as the Only spanish name you can think of that starts with "mari"? is just uninspired. mariquita wouldnt Choose a hero name so obviously close to her Real Name.. again im not an unmasker, but this headcanon is ridiculous....

finally, and most importantly.... "he sighs wearily". umm, No actually. he Doesnt. you dont even get an insight into dugouts thoughts other than "im nervous about school >m<"

Needless to say, this and his whiny, whimpering demeanor is incredibly infantilizing,. Furthermore in this context, all it does is plays into the ""yaoi"" trope of a big buff bad big boy x boy who says uwaaah! (i hope it goes without saying, this is Not a condemnation of boys who say uwahh, yall are doing gods work and ily)

cramming tigerdrop and dugout into this trope comes off as (and actually is) incredibly homophobic and harmful. need i remind you, these are real people. i wouldnt be surprised if this author was a fujoshi or something too :x

anyways.

im a dugout fan Because hes reserved, but in this fic, thats being watered down to him just being sad and whiny.

its just so insulting to be written shrugging every 3 sentences. dugout im so sorry theyre doing this to you ;;;

tigerdrop has lived in new york all his life, and he appears to be pretty bored with life (ex: pushes pipsqueak over just because he thought itd be funny, no doubt an allusion to the canal street incident last july)

his characterization is actually really confusing and i think its supposed to be like, Alluring??? but its just disconcerting :x

thats It. Two established characters and empty conversations with others (the mariquita mischaracterization especially drives me up the wall ever since i confirmed my kin with her)

they meet in math class when dugout unknowingly sits in tigerdrops seat..... girl, Literally no one in high school acts like this.

at this point, this fic is no better than glee and the millions of other incorrect and careless portrayals of highschoolers. tigerdrop has some weird banter with the faceless teacher (yet Another reason i hate most highschool fics)
