Bi-Han will place little notes around the house or on things he knows you use often. He'll place one on the cover of the book your currently reading, or even within the pages. Little love notes, mainly motivating you, praising you... but he'll write a simple 'I love you', too.

Specifically whenever it's colder, Kuai willpull you in for a hug, and make his body temperature increase. He'll do it under different circumstances sometimes, even to tease you. He likes to keep you close as his temperature steadily rises. Perfect for cold nights.

Raiden will do the little heart thing with his hands (or fingers) from across the room when he can't be with you. Eventually, he'll even try to do it with his lightning. It's an uncontrollable variable, and it takes him so LONG to get ahold of it. But, when he finally gets it, he's all giddy.

As much as Rain groans and complains that his magic shouldn't be used for mundane things or fun, sometimes he'll form water into little hearts or stars. All for you. But he'll do it away from you, and kind of side-eye you, to make sure your watching.

⎯ Tomas Vrbada

Smoke has a tendency to sway whenever you two hug. Specifically when it's a longer hug. He just finds the motion comforting! He'll hum a little as he does this, too. That hum starts small, but then it catches on, he'll hum the same tune to you before you fall asleep.

⎯ Baraka

Point. Why? Baraka doesn't know. But he kinda likes your reaction. You two have a little game where he'll point, and you'll pop up and look around, do the whole "who, me?" thing. It's like a displacement behavior for him. Secretly, he kind of just wants to place his whole hand on your face like a basketball. He won't. Too risky.

⎯ Geras

Since Geras is still kind of unfamiliar with mortal love, he'll bring you little vials of sand. Kind of like bottles of shelves you'd find in a souvenir shop? He also most definitely asks Liu Kang for help throughout your relationship. So, normally, you get sent little (they're not little actually, they're like 5-page essays) love letters via Liu Kang.

⎯ Syzoth

Syzoth will flick his tongue over your cheek unintentionally. He swears! He's not doing it on purpose! You'll be lying down, or just close in general, and boom! There's the tongue!

⎯ Havik

Havik does that thing where he'll pull you in with one arm around your shoulder and one on the side of your head, and shake you gently. He'll make a little "rah" sound, it's a whole thing. Sometimes he's just over-whelmed with the urge to do that.

⎯ Shao Kahn

Sometimes, whenever Shao passes by you, he'll take you by your hand, and spin you. He'll chuckle and go back to what he was doing. But sometimes, it turns into full blown dancing.

⎯ Shang Tsung

Shang loves passing winks to you. He'll do it when he's too busy, he doesn't even use it to imply something. He'll do that super corny thing where he over-exaggerates his face and winks at you a LOT.

⎯ Reiko

Whether Reiko's just sparring, or in a genuine match, he'll always dedicate it to you. Even if you're not there. He'll whisper something for you under his breath, then beat the shit out of his opponent. He also loves bragging about his achievements to you. Only you. A soldier MUST have some humility.

⎯ Takeda Takahashi

Takeda loves saying your name in a real stupid sing-song voice. Dragging it out, horribly, in such a cheesy manor. He'll bring his voice up all high pitch and even bring his hands up to his face.

⎯ Erron Black

As much as Erron tries to be smooth with it, he kinda fails at hiding the fact that he's doing this for you. He exaggerates his accent, he'll quote all sorts of westerns, and just play reaaaaal hard into the Cowboy part for you.

𐙚 He says the last 2 words in a smile that sent chills down your spine, it’s like he thought this was something completely normal to do to someone you love. 𐙚 When he felt you not kiss back, he chuckles within the kiss and brings the gun down to your stomach, having his index finger slightly press on the trigger basically threatening you to kiss him back

𐙚 After he felt your effort in the kiss and how your lip quivered in fear, in satisfaction he put down the gun from your stomach, his soft and warm tongue slips into your mouth, grabbing your neck roughly making sure you have no intention on breaking the kiss first

𐙚 his breath feeling like a gentle breeze. he pulls you in closer, his hot breath almost burning against your skin.Both of you then heard someone call out Johnnys name, and audible annoyed noise comes out of his mouth as he pulled away from the kiss

𐙚 he then caresses the side of your cheek and says in a sweet tone despite his words pressing the gun further on your chest, definitely causing a mark

“ we’ll talk more at home alright love? If you even fucking remotely look at his way or any man that isn’t me, you’ll know what will happen. k? “

𐙚 he then kisses your cheek and holsters his gun then walking off, you feel your knees give out in pain, you slowly glide against the wall, and let a tear drop by drop, your hand softly going up feeling the burning sensation on your neck and chin from the harsh grasps of his, you don’t know how you’ll have to do it, but soon enough you’ll have to go back out there pretending like nothing happened and this is just the beginning.

Ahhh what interesting questions....! So while we're still fully werkin' it all out ourselves, here's what @thesixthplaneteer and I say about the situation: From what we've been reading up, Kahanni is probably very close to a dhampir but without restrictions, according to book. Though because of V5 no longer having dhampir (yet?) she's probably closest to a Thinblood? But also not. She essentially is a living vampire who can bond, Embrace, make new disciplines if she desires... From what sixthplaneteer has conceptualized: Kahn is a Ushebti (SETITE MAGICCC) construct made of flesh, given life through necromancy and Thinblood alchemy. She was grown in her mother's womb from start to finish and was born... obviously a TON of magic and blood had to happen. She was born in 2000! (In the older lore a Garou was also born in 2000 kind of like this as well, so we call them Apocalypse Twins haha!) And no - unless there was a SIGNIFICANT breach in trust - this news was kept extremely on the downlow within Harrakhty's inner circle. Many see Kahn as the second coming of Set and they would not allow any rumors to discredit her. Setites are incredibly secretive as is with their goings-ons, so this hopefully wouldn't be an issue they dealt with. Nyth and Noa when doing this for them are probably the only outsiders who know what went down. After Kahn was born, Harri and Pari went on a very long "away from the temple" sabbatical, not unlike them, and twenty years later returned with a full grown woman. So many followers would not have watched Kahanni grow up. Kahn DOES have a soul as well, so as a Ushebti construct, even if you were to fully explain how she was born, she more than likely would not crumble like a normal construct. She's a person, they just used similar magics in the process! Also: Kahn is basically Harri's twin, pre-Embrace. She grows tall like him, she's muscular and confident. She has some of her mother's striking features but she is all Harri. Setite Magic was used to change his appearance back in the late 1800s, so the two do not seem as similar as they would be if he looked as he was first Embraced. I dont really feel comfortable writing reader as backstabbing bc i feel like 90% of the time they'll hate reader and i dont want ppl to feel hated. However i will have reader have an unnamed lover they leave for the characters you asked for. For something at least, sorry if its not quite what you wanted. But im not about writing xreaders for the sake of drama with no resolution

Reader dumps ex for true love

Fujin:

Fujin was mesmerized by your personality, the more he saw you the more he wanted to get to know you. Your voice was his favorite melody. Alas, you were already in a relationship. Fujin did not mean to pry, but he would be lying if he said he didn't have underlying jealousy.

Fujin gives similar advice to how he normally would, except maybe with slight bias in his favor. His voice is as sweet as a warm breeze and you can't help but agree, he's a better boyfriend. And he's also a god so, can't beat that even if you tried.

Kung lao:

You had him at "hello". Quite literally as he was far more smitten by your actions. Kind, strong, passionate. Kung lao could go on for hours about every little thing he came to know about you. He flirted a bit, and that's how he realized you were already taken.

You break up willingly: there was something about this monk you couldn't quite place, he was stoic at times but when he moved he flowed with a different kind of fire you saw in Liu kang. Something sharp, something direct, something wreckless. Regardless, despite kung Lao's pride in his honor making him slightly arrogant, it was charming how dedicated he truly was. And you needed someone who was dedicated, and honest. Your previous lover didn't exactly deliver on that, so you decided to break up with them and try your chances with kung lao. And you certainly didn't regret it.

You are "convinced": kung lao could see that you clearly weren't happy with your relationship. It wasn't his business, but he couldn't stand to see you unhappy and unfulfilled. Kung lao took no quarter in telling you what was wrong in your relationship when you had a moment of doubt in your relationship. Kung lao is precise in more than throwing his hat and fists, he points out everything wrong and why you're unhappy and even things you didn't realize. Kung lao is so pent up that he forgets he originally had the idea to make himself a viable partner, his sense of justice and fairness overrode his selfishness. Shao Kahn:

There is one solid fact that everyone in outworld knows, what the emperor wants, he will get. Of course he is no mere average brute, he is masterful at tactics in war, and in persuasion. The fact that you already had a lover was of little concern for shao kahn.

You break up willingly: you weighed the options and it was far too obvious a choice, shao kahn had power. He had charisma, he laid opportunities at the small cost of loyalty and dignity. Far better an arrangement than your previous lover. You willingly give your whole allegiance to this man, and shao kahn could not be more pleased. He gave you the promise of ruling by his side, but just being in love with such a powerful man was reward enough in itself.

You are "convinced": now, shao kahn had plenty of options here. Simply kill your lover and take whats his the "old fashioned way" of conquering. Instill doubt and give ultimatums about your relationship with your lover. The hardest part for shao kahn with this was the approach, he wanted to make sure you had no hate in your heart for him, at least enough that you wouldn't betray him given the chance. Regardless of what shao Kahn does, you end up agreeing having him as your new lover now. Whether you enjoy it or not, at least in admitting you love it anyways.

Kano:

Kano had his fair share of "lovers" all of varying degrees of "closeness". However, something was just so special about you that kano wondered if that whole soulmate thing was real. Just enough sweet and spice and everything messy to grab his full attention. Of course he was disappointed in you already taken, more so that there was an obstacle in the way of his beautiful prize.

You break up willingly: you had enough playing by the rules, more specifically your previous lover's rules. You were sick of walking on eggshells and wanted someone who could just not care about what others think and what you wanted to do. You had so much pent up that when you met kano, you wanted to hire him to take care of them. However, a better opportunity presented itself when kano barely suggested that you break up with him. You already made up your mind and told him that you were history now. Kano was taken aback but glad he didn't have to work so hard to earn your love. Now it was all a matter of keeping it, for kano this was the hardest part.

You are "convinced": first order of business is sweet talking you regardless of relationship status. Kano would simply make a deal sweeter than what you would have already. Any sort of doubt and kano would be very "persuasive" about it. But kano backed off when usually he would get out the more aggressive tactics. Something about you made it worth working against the tides. Of course kano is going to fight with your previous lover one way or another. To show off, but also kano had a feeling that felt rare for a baddie like him. That he felt dishonored that your lover made you unhappy, and he wasn't about to have that. Either way your lover defended you poorly and kano actually apologized for the mess, gaining favor with you. Kano thought that this was a "pain in the ass" but it was worth seeing you smile with relief. Prettier than any jewel in any realm, kano thinks.

I thought that being a literal time God was the ultimate bucket list cross off. Turns out its not all what its cracked up to be.

I guess I should have expected that Lord Raiden (or is it just Raiden now?) seemed to be getting more miserable and wrinkley the more often I had to see him. I guess it just comes with the job.

I assumed ,with my limited knowledge of timeline divergences, that since i became time lord that I split to another timeline and so did my friends when given the opportunity to finally end Kronikas rule. I adsumed we'd all see eachother again. Battle another legenday beast or something. But ive reset the time line. brought everything up to date. chose my champions. And ive only seen Jin , being less than pleased about god hood, and Cassie ,being overly pleased about god hood.

I keep spinning and fiddling with the ring on my finger so much so the area has gone red. Shes out there somewhere. I know she is. She has to be. My champions obviously can tell how panicked I am.

When bringing everything back I knew I had to change the tournament somehow even out the odds a bit more for further down the line. So my father, Cassies dad, Kung Lao and Liu Kang were chosen as the first champions of Mortal Kombat. And the normal conflicts happened , Sindel and Shao Kahn's betrayal, Shang Tsung being a menace, that sort of stuff. Then eventually the new Kombat kids happened but there couldn't be another Takeda, that would just make the kids life miserable. Eventually I settled on Jin, Cassie, Frost and a Satoshi turned revinant turned real boy (long story). There all different to how they were but im proud of them.

They still have certain traits that I just couldnt bear changing or they wouldnt be themselves thought and one of them is how undeniably nosy Cassie is in my personal life. (This is my fault for assuming she would be any different) she noticed pretty quickly that I felt something missing in my life. Putting me on edge constantly of her whereabouts. If she was even alive. So what does any good student do when they see their master struggling with something extremely personal? Of course! Search though his room without his knowledge and fine old pictures of him and his potentially dead spouce! I dont know how Johnny did it when Sonya left him I would have gone into a state of constant hysteria.

Now im here having to explain the last 25 years of my life before the reset to my champions without having a breakdown.

Maybe I should have just stayed in Fiji instead of killing the God of space and time.

The scene cuts to Outworld's capital, Z'unkahran. Team S-F are walking through the crowded streets of Outworlders going about their normal business "I dunno, I expected the sky to be purple or something" Jacqui said looking around "Don't believe everything you see online" Kung Jin said looking back at her briefly "And what makes you an expert?" Cassie asked "The Shaolin archives. I studied a lot about Outworld" "No substitute for experience" (name) turned her head to Cassie "I'm the only one here who has the experience in Outworld. I believe it would be wise to stay close to me" Cassie nodded and Kung Jin looked back to Cassie "So why isn't she our leader?" The two of them stop walking and stare one another down. Takeda intercedes before anything else happens "Guys, let's stick to the mission?" Cassie breaks off the stare down and walks off. Kung Jin smiles to himself and follows along with (name), Takeda and Jacqui "Li Mei has to be telling the truth Cassie said leading her team "An invasion would violate the Reiko Accords" Jacqui added "'Cause you can always trust an Outworlder..." "But if Outworld's our ally, why didn't they help us during the Netherrealm war? Against Quan Chi and his team of..." Takeda said trailing off "Revenants? Like Jacqui's dad?" Kung Jin said jumping in. Jacqui stops dead at this remark "Asshole!" she said glaring at Kung Jin. (name) walk behind Kung Jin and slapped him upside the head. "Ow! What was that for?" Including a reason why we shouldn't kill you" the gunslinger said (name) glared at him "Erron Black, hireable gunslinger. Currently under the service of the emperor Kotal Khan. He also aided in overthrowing Mileena" (name) said making Erron look at her then Takeda puts his hand to his head, telepathically reading Erron Black's mind "I can read you. You're not from Outworld" he said shocked "I'm from Earthrealm - like you - but my employer, Kotal Khan Kahn is from Outworld. So now I'm from Outworld. State your business" "We're emissaries. We need to talk to Kotal Khan Kahn" Cassie said then she pulls something out of her back pocket "Here, we have Raiden's official seal" Erron looks at it for a moment "I can buy one of those at that stall right over there" he replied unconvinced. (name) was about to step forward when Kung Jin stops her and gives her a look as to say 'let me handle this' "Look, you can arrest us, even kill us, but if we're telling the truth, you probably get a pay cut - or worse. A man has been bound in the stocks, and two soldiers pull him out and restrain him "To take without his leave is to steal from the hand of Kotal Khan Kahn himself" Kung Jin stops to take in the scene, with mounting horror clear on his face "Therefore, having been found guilty of theft, you shall be put to death" "I was hungry!" the thief cried out before he is slammed onto a headsman's block (name) knew how he felt, after defeating Shao Khan in his tournament she barley had anything to eat and would be hungry for days "Your sentence will be carried out... immediately!" the soldier announced. Kung Jin turns to Erron "Death? For petty theft?" he asked shocked "Remember where you are" Kung Jin looks to (name). Her smile visible under her mask "one firewall coming up" she said making King Kung Jin smile happy then pushes his way through the crowd with (name) following behind "Kung Jin? Viper?" Cassie called out.

Erron pulls out a revolver, intending to shoot Kung Jin or (name) in the back. Cassie grabs his arm and throws him down, causing the shot to go wide. Takeda and Jacqui begin fighting the soldiers as well. On the platform, a soldier holds a macuahuitl - an Aztec (or in this universe, Osh-Tekk) spiked war club - over the thief's head. As he prepares to swing it downward, an arrow pierces his shoulder, sending him down in pain. Kung Jin puts down his bow-staff and charges in. Three soldiers pull their swords and meet him in kombat. "get down!" (name) calls out. Kung Jin ducks as she jumps over him then produces two fire whips and lashes the three soldiers off the platform and onto the ground. Behind them, other Outworld citizens begin attacking the soldiers as well. (name) creates a fire wall around her, Kung Jin and the thief as Kung Jin tries to unbind the thief. Elsewhere, Erron blocks a high kick and a punch from Cassie, and she blocks two of his attempts to shoot her and ducks a pistol whip. He counters another strike from her by bashing her in the forehead with his revolver and dashes off from the fight while she's stunned. The soldiers now have a full scale riot on their hands. One is tackled off the platform by an Outworld citizen, while a second is pushed off by another citizen, allowing Kung Jin to run up and free the thief from his binds "Get outta here! Go!" Kung Jin shouts the citizen helps the grateful thief to his feet. Kung Jin turns round to (name) as she brings down the fire wall "thanks for the backup" he says grateful that (name) was wanting to help the poor man "not a problem, I would have gone up if you didn't. I'm just glad someone else had the same idea as I did" she replied and walks off the platform, they both come face to face with Erron Black.

"Viper I got this-" "no I owe him an ass kicking. Go help the others" (name) interrupted him "you're gonna boss me around now?" she smirked "think of it as giving you a chance for target practice. Now move" Kung Jin looked shocked for a few moments then smirked "yes ma'am" he set off to fight the soldiers. (name) faced Erron "now then I think it's time for some revenge" she said lighting up her hands "Revenge? I've never seen you before in my life" Erron replied bringing out his guns "maybe not but you hurt a dear friend of mine and nobody messes with my friends" Erron chuckles a little "shame I'll have to put a bullet in that pretty skull of yours" they fight As deadly and pragmatic a fighter as Erron Black is, (name) exhibits equal skill and speed from her years of training. After an easily fought battle, the Pyromancer leaves the mercenary flat on his back "still bullet less, usurping prick" (name) said walking over his body.

The soldiers surrounding the rest of Team S-F are quickly defeated. A loud deep roar attracts Jacqui's attention, and several thumping footsteps catch the attention of everyone else as well. They look up in horror at what is approaching, but Kung Jin steels himself as he hears a young girl calling out threats in the Outworld tongue. The gigantic hooded brute Torr walks into the plaza and on his back is his rider, the diminutive Ferra. She gives off an evil cackle as they take in the scene "Let's play, Torr!" Ferra says. Torr roars in response and starts forward. Team S-F get into fighting stances "oh shit" (name) mumbled joining her friends "You couldn't just ask for a pony like every other girl?" Cassie tried joking. Kung Jin nocks an arrow into his bow-staff "The archives never mentioned symbiotes" Kung Jin said. At Ferras' battle cry, Torr charges forward. Cassie, Jacqui, (name) and Takeda run to meet them, while Kung Jin aims his bow-staff.

Jacqui ducks a right swing from Torr and tries to punch him, but Torr easily blocks her attempts. As Torr grabs Jackie and hoists her over his head, Kung Jin fires off an arrow that hits him in the shoulder, causing him to drop Jacqui before he can slam her into the ground.

Torr pulls the arrow out and charges forward, but Takeda runs into his path. He blocks a fist from Torr, who blocks his attacks and grabs his leg, throwing him to the ground while Kung Jin prepares another shot. The brute bashes Takeda with both his fists while he's down, but Kung Jin hits him with another arrow in the shoulder before he can repeat the motion.

(name) Charges at them, with her fists covered in fire, ready to hit. She launches a punch at Torrs arm but gets blocked by Torr slamming a fist on her body into the ground causing her to cry out in pain while Kung Jin prepares another shot. "Smashy smashy!!" Ferra shouts as Torr complies by grabbing (name)s' arm and picks her up. Just as he's about to slam her into the ground Kung Jin fires off an arrow that hits him in the shoulder, causing him to drop (name) before he can slam her into the ground. Once more Torr pulls the arrow out and charges forward.

Cassie tries to hit him with a Shadow kick, but Torr catches her leg "Break her face!" Ferra commands as Torr complies by punching Cassie square in her face with his free fist. He picks her up by the shoulders and hoists her over his head, eye level with Ferra, who brandishes the claws on her hands "Ferra cut you!" Ferra says about to cut Cassies' face. This time, Kung Jin shoots his arrow at Ferra, catching her in the shoulder and knocking her off Torrs' back. Torr throws down Cassie and runs in to meet Kung Jin in kombat. Ferra quickly rights herself and jumps right back on Torrs' back "You here make trouble, Skinny?" Ferra asks then she barks off a growl "Trouble make you!" Torr roars in compliance. They fight. Ferra/Torr prove to be unlike any opponent Kung Jin has ever faced, with the hulking giant and depraved dwarf fighting in tandem with amazing effect. Nonetheless, Kung Jin's speed, training and endurance all pay off in the end and after a long hard brawl he leaves Torr defeated on the ground, on top of Ferra.

"Love to learn more about ya. Too bad you're insane" Kung Jin said smirking As Ferra struggles to pull herself out from under Torrs' unconscious body, Kung Jin rushes over to the rest of Team S-F, who are picking themselves back up. Kung Jin helps (name) up even though she seemed alright "You guys all right?" he asked letting go of (name)s' arm. They say nothing in response, but a cry across the plaza grabs their attention. More soldiers - far more than they can take on - dash towards them. Once they are surrounded the Kytinn, D'Vorah, strolls up to Team S-F. Kung Jin notices (name)s' body stiffen at the sight of D'vorah, her eyes showing burning hatred. Takeda also notices and decides to look into her head. he saw images of D'vorah staring down at Mileena, who is tied, before the feet of Kotal Khan. His eyes widen 'could viper tell the future or was this an event she had seen?' Takeda looked deeper and found an image of Mileena, when she was still ruler, and another woman her clothes consisted of into a long mermaid tail skirt the colour of blood that opens up at the knee to show off her legs at the front and a tube top blood red with black edges, she wore no shoes and had a gold bangle placed around each ankle, two bangles on each wrist, a tiara was placed upon her head and her hair was below her knees, straight the colour of dark chocolate. When Takeda tried to look at the woman's' face all he could see was a shadow over her eyes, her plump pink lips formed into a sweet smile. Takeda stopped and looked back to D'vorah 'so she knew the queen' he thought.

"The Earthrealmers, yes? This One must learn more of your diplomatic techniques" D'vorah said gesturing to herself "We're here to see Kotal Khan Kahn. General Blade's—" "You interfere with Outworld matters. The penalty is death" D'vorah interrupted Cassie "I'm sensing a theme" she said glaring at Kung Jin and (name) "But as we honour the Reiko accords, we will consult the emperor. You will await him here" D'vorah say then she walks off, leaving Team S-F surrounded by the soldiers. Cassie turns to Kung Jin and (name) "You wanna take this opportunity to tell us what the fuckshit you two were thinking?!" she hissed making Kung Jin look away in shame but (name) glared at Cassie "I gotta wonder why either of you would risk interrealm war for a bread thief" Takeda asked "Because not all thieves are irredeemable" Kung Jin said "because I know what it's like to need food bad enough to steal it" (name) said coldly.

Kotal Khan Kahn has his back to Cassie Cage in contemplation, D'Vorah, Erron Black, Ferra/Torr and Kotal Khan's soldiers still have Team S-F surrounded, (name) glared at him with her amber eyes. He turns back around and walks toward Cassie "Your news of refugees is troubling. Their exodus to Earthrealm was not known to me" He turns away and walks onto the platform. "I do know this: I invited no guests from Earthrealm. Certainly none who would disrupt the execution of justice" He places a hand on the stocks that the thief was formerly in "How do I know you are not allied with Mileena? Perhaps her newfound power has earned her new friends?" (name) continued to glare at him "Friends? No. No! We're not even sure that's Shinnok's Amulet that she has—" "She employs Shinnok's Amulet against me?! The very item Earthrealm swore would be safe in its care?! When Outworld was offered no participation—" Kotal Khan interrupts Cassie. Realising that negotiations are taking a turn for the worse, Kung Jin steps forward "We were under attack, not Outworld—" Kung Jin steps in front of Cassie and interjects "Kotal Khan Kahn... The Fire that Burns the Sun. We are here because we share your concerns about the missing item. We intend no ill against your rule"

"At least one Earthrealmer can forge words like silver. But I recall an Earthrealm expression: "There is more honour among thieves than diplomats."" "I've had the questionable fortune to be both, Emperor. But I'm telling you the truth" Kung Jin tried to make him see reason "You are allied with Mileena" he says then looks to D'Vorah "You may carry out your sentence" (name) steps forward "under Outworld law, I claim the right of defence by kombat. To clear us of the charges. Denying the request brings dishonour upon the accuser" her friends looked at her astonished "You know much of Outworld" Kotal Khan says impress slightly as he steps down from the platform "Know also: The duel ends in death" D'vorah says. (name) steps into a fighting stance as Kotal Khan does the same "You have won nothing. Merely a few more seconds of breath"

They fight. The battle is easy for (name) compared to her previous battles and defiantly easy compared to her fight with Shao Khan. Her fire abilities might not have much effect on Kotal Khan but her skill and anger towards the blue demon, in her opinion, are more than enough to take him down. With one final blow to the head she leaves him down on the ground, defeated "I win" she said effortlessly Breathing heavily, Kotal Khan cannot find the strength to rise again.

"The charges against you are void. I say to all that Earthrealm means Outworld no harm" Kotal Khan announces. D'Vorah looks shocked at these words. Team S-F can barely believe it either. They now see the power of their friend and the reason General Blade asked her to keep them safe. Kotal Khan gets to his knees, but rises no further "Now kill me. Be done with it" (name) was so tempted to do it but she knew it would accomplish nothing "You're not actually gonna...?" Cassie asked worried slightly (name) simply steps closer "as much as I want to, after what you did to me and my friend, I will not. however instead I claim your services and one request. When the time comes I will make my request until then you are in our service" Kotal Khan looks up in surprise at the woman in front of him both in awe of her strength and in confusion as to what he may have done to her "If Mileena does have the amulet, we can get it from her more easily if we work together" (name) stated as the Kahn rises to his feet. D'Vorah walks up to him Emperor, they cannot be trusted—" "D'Vorah, can you not perceive? I am indebted to them" Kotal Khan says interrupting D'Vorah then he holds out his arm, and (name), reluctantly, clasps it at the elbow. Kotal Khan returns the hand (or arm) shake "thank you, Kotal Khan. I believe you shall honour our terms" Kotal Khan says nothing, but frowns at the words "I'll talk to General Blade. Tell her about our new... arrangement" says Cassie.

(name)'s P.O.V (finally!)

"the Kuatan Jungle?" Cassie asked her mother on her communicator "With at least two divisions of Tarkatans. They're on the move constantly to avoid detection" Sonyas' voice was heard through the device. Jacqui checks something on her communications device, which appears to be a map of sorts "That's not far. Maybe two hundred kilometres" she says looking at it "You know what to do" Sonya said "Yes ma'am" Cassie replied "Good luck. Blade out" Kotal Khan Kahn and D'Vorah walk up to our team from the other side of the table "You have new information? From Earthrealm?" he asked "Kano talked. Gave us the details on Mileena's location. She has the amulet, but she's got a lot of protection" Cassie answered as we all walked to the table "We will strike immediately" he said then D'Vorah decided to say something "Perhaps a two-pronged approach. The army will engage Mileena, distract her, while This One retrieves the amulet" I clench my fist as a hand was placed on my shoulder I look to see Takeda "(telepathically) what's wrong?" he asked me in my head "(telepathically) D'vorah is a backstabbing traitor" I thought back to him "Not alone. "This One's" coming with" Cassie said smirking "as am I" I said "Stealth is of the essence" D'Vorah said "Did you not hear us?" Cassie asked annoyed "You may assist in the main strike—" "D'Vorah. We will grant their request and I will finally be rid of Mileena" Kotal Khan interrupted "Kotal Khan may I have a word with you?" I asked, he nods and walks to a secluded room with me.

"what is it you wished to talk about?" he asked me "it involves Mileena" I said he looked interested in what I had to say "you are aware Mileena had a queen yes?" he nods "yes but she was killed by Ermac. He, himself, conformed this presenting me with her head" my breath hitches 'how could he when I'm still here?' may I ask what the queen looked like?" "Long blond hair that shone like the sun, eyes as blue as an Earthrealm sky and skin as white as snow" 'so he killed another woman because of me. Someone died because of me again' "why do you bring this up?" "no reason I just thought since it was known the Queen cared deeply about Mileena that she would come back to save her" he nods "it would have been possible had I not ordered Ermac to bring me her to be my queen and if she resisted then he was permitted to kill her" a knock on the door was heard "Viper? We're ready" I heard Cassies' voice "right I'll be out in a moment!" I called out walking towards the door before I went out I turned to him "I shall use my request soon and know this; if you don't grant me it I will show you how it feels to be roasted alive, Kotal Khan" with that I left unaware of the affect I had left on him.

In the Kuatan jungle. Various tents are set up, with Tarkatans running between them. Cassie, D'Vorah and I sneak into the makeshift campsite. Cassie and D'Vorah crouch behind some crates and barrels and I hide in the trees, while the sounds of battle between two armies is heard close by. D'Vorah leans in close to Cassie, eyeing something in the distance "There" she says as she is looking at a large tent a few yards away from their hiding spot. Rain walks out of it, accompanied by a Tarkatan. He says something and the Tarkatan rushes off. I look down and silently drop down next to Cassie "I have a plan. You two go after the amulet while I distract him" they both look at each other and nod. I sneak out of the cover and approach Rain. He notices me "who are you? Another of Kotal Khans' puppets?" he asked I shook my head "not at all" I see from my peripheral vision that D'Vorah and Cassie are sneaking around the tents 'keep goin (name)' "actually I'm a friend of Mileena. Maybe you've-" I hear a fire ball go off behind Rain I look to see Cassie on the ground with D'vorah fighting Tanya "shit" Rain turns to me "so you are allied with the traitor" I growl "says the guy who desires the throne! I know what your game is, Rain, son of Argus! The amulet you stole, for Mileena, kills her a little each time she uses it! As each side begins to crumble, you fill the cracks!" I light my hands on fire ready to fight. His eyes widen slightly then they narrow "you are right to a degree, it is true that I fill the void as both sides diminish however I did not steal the amulet. That honour goes to the Earthrealmer with the glowing red eye" (name) growls "Kano" "It is a shame you will not see it's fruition, you truly are quite the catch" he said, and I could tell by the tone in his voice, smirking.

We fight, I know I'm at a clear disadvantage here with him having the control over, but never the less I fight with everything I've got and soon he lays unconscious at my feet "and another thing, I wasn't lying when I said Mileena was my friend" I said walking over his body to D'vorah as she defeats Tanya, who falls next to rain "now two edenians will die" she said. She approaches the two of them and extends her spider limbs from her back when I stand in front of her "don't even think about it" I growled she's clearly annoyed 'oh god I'm going to kick myself for this' suffer "let them live with the shame and dishonours of being defeated in combat" she smirks and she retracts her limbs. "Very well. Let us go" I walk over to Cassie and help her up "you ok?" I asked she nods "yeah I'm fine" we enter the tent. Inside is a locked chest. Cassie attempts to open the lock "Step aside" D'vorah says. She does so. D'Vorah puts her hand to the lock. A horde of tiny insects no bigger than ants seemingly spawn from her hand and pour into the lock to devour it from the inside.

"that's creepy" I said as a cold chill goes down my spine "more like disturbing" Cassie said creped out "D'Vorah!" we quickly turn around to see Mileena. My heart leapt for joy seeing her alive as she stalks into the tent. Cassie draws her pistol, but D'Vorah barks out an attack in the Kytinn language. Her stomach splits open at the same time, pouring out a swarm of flying insects that cloud over Mileena. Growling, she backs out of the tent, trying to fend the swarm off with her hands. D'Vorah silently motions to Cassie and I to stay and guard the chest before walking out of the tent to confront Mileena. I look back to the chest and open it once the lock was gone "Cassie..." I said she looked to me "yeah?" "I can tell you want to know what my real name is" her eyes widen "well yeah but you never-" "todays the day you, and our team, will find out as well as who I really am" I said smiling to her. She grabs the amulet and walks outside with me following to see Mileena on the ground defeated "This One will enjoy your death" I glare at her 'not if I have anything to say about it'

sometime later, in another tent complete with

Osh-Tekk inspired decorations and a large throne styled in the same manner. Kotal Khan Kahn steps up to the throne and sits in it. D'Vorah stands to the left of the throne, while Mileena is on her knees before them both. The battle was evidently won by Kotal Khan's forces, as our team is present in the tent behind Mileena. "Enough of your prattle. Finish me, that I may join my father and my beloved pretty bird" she said annoyed "You do not deserve death by an emperor's hand. Instead I give the honour to my worthy First Minister" he said when I stepped forward "Kotal Khan, before you carry out this sentence may I make my request now?" I asked surprising the others except Mileena who looked ready to die "fine but make it quick" he said I smirk and place a hand on Mileena's head making her look up at me in annoyance "Mileena leaves with us and goes under my supervision" everyone's eyes widen Kotal Khan stands up from his throne "what is the meaning of this!?!" he demanded.

"under my watch I can assure you she will not return to outworld and will not try to reclaim the throne" I narrow my eyes "even though it is rightfully hers, usurper" he growls "remember our agreement, if you deny it I have the right to kill you" he thinks it over for some time before looking at me again "very well, make absolutely sure she does not return. If she returns to outworld I will kill her" I nod "however I must ask you, what connection do you have with this creature" I growl and remove my hand from Mileena's head "she's not a creature, she is a Kahnum, and as for my connection well I believe that she can tell you" I go down on one knee next to Mileena "who are you! How dare you deny me the right to re-join my Pretty bird?!" I smile under my mask "because how could I let you die by a traitors hand?" she looked at me like I was crazy "who...are you?" she asked again. I smiled and began to remove my mask once it was off I let it drop to the floor. Her eyes, and everyone else's for that matter, widened "hello Beautiful" I said smiling "P-Pretty bird...you live" she said tears rolling down her face I held her close "I couldn't leave you alone" I whispered then helped her stand up, still bound, then I turn to Kotal Khan "the head of the woman wasn't the queen of Outworld" I glared at him "my name is (name) Rain! And I am the true queen of outworld" I stated to him.

He glared at me "we have what we came for now if you'll excuse us-" Kotal Khan motions with his right hand, which glows with a dark blue light our team and Mileena are suddenly restrained at the waist, with our arms pinned to their sides, by the same blue light that has surrounded us "The hell are you doing?!" Cassie asked shocked then Kotal Khan stands up and walks toward her "Earthrealm cannot be trusted to protect the amulet. It will remain with me" he says as he takes the amulet from Cassie "The Reiko Accords require that you—" "The Accords no longer concern me. But you may prove useful – when Raiden comes for this" Kotal Khan interrupts Kung Jin I growl "bastard!" I shout earning a hard punch across the face "you have already over stepped your protection limits letting this thing live" Kotal Khan Kan says smirking "DON'T TOUCH HER!" Mileena screeched as two guard held her back. Two of Kotal Khan's soldiers take us by the shoulders, escorting us out of the tent. I look to Mileena as she is behind me and smile "Mileena" I said catching her attention "it's going to be ok" she calms down a little and walks silently.

Timeskip 3rd P.O.V

The scene cuts to what appears to be a brig on the lower decks of a docked ship. Inside each of the cells are Team S-F and Mileena. Jacqui examines her cell, looking for a way out. Cassie tries forcing the door of her cell open to no success. Kung Jin meditates. Takeda sits on the bench in his cell, one hand on his temple. Mileena tries to bend the bars and gnaw on them. (name) sit on the floor of her cell, leaning against the bars of Mileena's cell, with her knees to her chest and her arms wrapped around them on her wrists are special made hand cuffs that go from her wrists to half way to her elbow and prevent her from using her fire ability.

"So what'chu guys think? They gonna kill us?" Jacqui asked "They would've done it by now" Takeda says "Unless Kotal Khan Kahn's planning on having us as "guests" at the Koliseum" Kung Jin said being sarcastic Cassie rattles the bars on the cell door, to no avail. She sighs in frustration "Well, if they don't kill us, my mother will. Me, at least" she said annoyed "Tough being the general's daughter?" Takeda asked "You have no idea" Kung Jin stood up and walked to the bars "I do. My great-whatever grandfather took down Shang Tsung. Saved Earthrealm. How often do you think that comes up at family gatherings?" "That was six hundred years ago" Cassie said smiling a little "And yet you'd think it happened yesterday" "No pressure there" Jacqui piped in "I've trained all my life... can fight my way out of (nearly) anything... but I still feel like a second-rate Cage" Cassie said upset a little "At least you grew up with people expecting things from you" Takeda said "I thought you and your dad were best friends?" Jacqui asked confused holding onto her cell bars. Takeda gets up and walks toward the cell door, leaning on the bars "Now. He was a no-show for a long time" Jacqui sighs "I can relate" What was that like growing up? Having an ex-revenant father?" Kung Jin asked "Jin!" Takeda warned him.

"No, I'm asking! Couldn't have been easy" "...He was just a BIT over-protective. When I joined S-F, Mister Cage insisted on being the one to tell my dad. He thought it'd go over Smoother" Cassie chuckles at this "I'll never forget that day. My dad came home with a broken jaw" everyone briefly laughed when Jacqui remembered something and looked over to (name)s' Cell "hey um Viper?" (name)s' head lifts up "Viper can-" "Jacqui, you already know my name is (name) so just call me (name)" Jacqui nods and everyone looks to (name) "is it true? Are you the girl from Mister Cages' old picture? The one where you were at the Wu Shi Academy with the other warriors, like my dad?" (name) smiled and stood up walking to the bars "Johnny still has that old thing? Sentimental lug. Yeah that girl in the picture was me" the four young soldiers looked at her wide eyed "so wouldn't that make you older than us by, what, 20 years?" Cassie asked but (name) shook her head "no I'm only 26 years old" Kung Jin then asked "how is this possible exactly?" "ok, looks like no one told you where I'm from exactly so let's begin the story" (name) explained to them of how she came to their world and what she went through during the fight against Shao Khan but stopped at the part where she was about to explain how Shao Khan died. She turned to Mileena "Mileena I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner but I'm the one who ended your father's life" "I already knew that" (name)s' eyes widen like everyone else's "but how?" Mileena walked up to the bars that separate hers' and (name)s' room and smiled at her "word in outworld travels fast and I only wanted my father's throne. True I did feel slightly upset upon hearing of my father's demise but it barley affected me at all" she then looked down with a sad look on her face "however upon hearing of your death I was shattered. I thought I could never hear my pretty birds' sweet voice again" (name) blushed feeling shy at this comment, Takeda and Kung Jin on the other hand felt annoyed that (name) blushed for Mileena and not them "so why hide it?" Cassie asked (name) "put yourself in my shoes. A girl dies in front of her friends eyes and comes back 16 years later and has only aged 2 years then spends 1 year in outworld as a queen after that spent 5 years more training with the Shirai Ryu and finally shows up. Now how do you think that would go?" Cassie was silent for a few moments "so who else knows other than us?" Takeda asked "Raiden, Hanzo, Kenshi and Kuai that's it" (name) was silent for a few moments before asking "did...anyone else miss me?"

Kung Jin looked at her then laughed "are you kidding? Kung Lao and Liu Kang, before they became revenants, talked about you non-stop! They loved you so much but after you died they became so heartbroken that they were less outgoing towards others" (name) flinches, noticeably, at the word 'revenants' and looks away in shame "what's wrong?" Kung Jin asked worried "I'm sorry I wasn't around to stop them, or anyone else for that matter, from becoming revenants" "it's not your fault" (name) looked to Cassie "by the way you talked about our parents and their friends it sounded like you never wanted to leave and wanted to come back as soon as possible" it was silent for a few moments before Jacqui said "my dad misses you. He still keeps a picture of you at home. He said that he always considered you his 'first daughter'" "Grandmaster always talked about you and how you faced him in the tournament" (name) Laughed at Takedas' words "oh yeah I almost forgot that! *laughs* oh his face when he realized he was going to lose!" everyone laughed until hear footsteps from above deck. A silhouette appears at the hatch of the deck, and the sound of keys jingling is unmistakable (name) looks to Takeda "you got this?" he nods "yeah, I got this" "You've got what, exactly?" Cassie asked confused "Trust me" The hatch is opened. One of Kotal Kahn's soldiers enters the deck with a bucket full of bread loafs. He stops once he reaches the end of the staircase "Away from the bars!" he orders. Team S-F complies with the order. The soldier tosses the bread loaves to each of them in turn. When he gets to Takeda, he notices the Shirai Ryu in his telepathic stance and steps in for a closer look. Takeda has his eyes closed in concentration, until they suddenly snap open. The soldier groans and tries to clutch his head, but falls unconscious before he can. Takeda leans through the bars and grabs the keys on his waist belt. He unlocks the door to his cell, then follows by unlocking the doors on his friends cells.

When he got to (name)s' cell he tried others keys to unlock her restraints and final found it. He helped her up "thanks" she said smiling at him making him blush now that he could see her whole face "How'd you do that?" asked Jacqui "I overloaded his senses. Only works at short range" "Being the son of a telepath has it's perks" "I didn't use to think so" Jacqui looks over to Jin, who shrugs his shoulders. Team S-F and Mileena all exit the brig. Team S-F take cover behind the side of the docked ship they were kept prisoner in. They spot Reptile, Ermac and Erron Black looking over the bodies of the soldiers killed by D'Vorah earlier "This is D'Vorah's work" reptile says looking at the bodies "No argument there. Only she could create wounds like these" Erron replied. Takeda looks to Cassie "That D'Vorah's full of surprises" he says "Question is, is she working with anyone else?" Erron asks. Reptile sniffs the air and straightens up, seemingly catching a scent. He turns to face the docked ship. Erron notices and stands up as well "What is it?" he asks reptile Team S-F duck back down behind cover "Damn. He's made us" Takeda cursed "Okay guys, standard diamond formation. Takeda, you're on point. Jacqui, bring up the rear. Kung Jin, air cover" Cassie commanded. Jin pulls an arrow from his quiver "You got it" Cassie turns to (name) and Mileena "(name) you-" "be the shield and Mileena rips and tears we knew how to fight Cassie" (name) says smirking. (name) then looks to Mileena "ready, Beautiful?" Mileena smirks twirling her Sais "ready, pretty bird~"

On the dock, Reptile confirms his suspicions "The Earthrealmers! D'Vorah freed them!" Reptile hissed Takeda, Cassie, (name), Mileena and Jacqui charge out of cover. As the Outworlders get into a fighting stance, Kung Jin lets loose an arrow that hits at their feet, unleashing a cloud of blue gas into the air. Team S-F move in as they struggle to catch their breath. Jacqui and Cassie charge down Erron Black and (name) and Mileena engage Ermac. Takeda runs up to Reptile and issues a challenge in Japanese. Reptile growls in response and turns invisible. Takeda looks around in anticipation, and finds Reptile directly in front of him, readying a punch. Takeda lands one of his own before it connects, staggering the Zaterran and turning him invisible again. As Takeda looks around for Reptile, the lizardman is briefly outlined as he sneaks round Takeda's back. He comes at him from his right side with another punch, but Takeda blocks it and lands two hits of his own. Reptile is forced to back away and turn invisible once more. As Takeda looks over the docks for his unseen foe, he notices a nearby barrel move and fall into the water. He puts two fingers to his temple and - remembering Sub-Zero's training from earlier - realises that it was a distraction. He turns around to spot Reptile attacking him from behind. Takeda once again blocks his strike and throws a punch that catches Reptile in the kidney. He follows with a face strike and kicks him in the chest, sending him sprawling and turning invisible yet again. Takeda holds his telepath stance yet again this time, and closes his eyes in concentration. As Reptile charges him from behind, Takeda turns and throws a fist that catches the Zaterran square on the forehead. He falls down and turns invisible for a fifth time. As Takeda once again puts two fingers to his temple and closes his eyes, Reptile uncloaks a good few steps away from him and throws out his extendable tongue. Takeda catches it without even looking, then pulls Reptile in and punches him thrice in the face, staggering him back.

They fight. Already weakened by Takeda's defense, Reptile finds himself at the disadvantage against the Shirai Ryu's fighting techniques and advanced weaponary. It isn't long until the Zaterrean lies defeated on the docks "One down. Two to go" Takeda says. Kung Jin has moved up and is now taking on Erron Black. He isn't faring too well, as Erron kicks him in the side and then kicks his legs out from under him. As Jin falls, Erron slams a fist into his abdomen, leaving him reeling on the ground in pain. Black aims his revolver at Kung Jin's head, but Takeda uses his whips to grab Erron by the ankles, dragging him off his feet. Takeda turns in the opposite direction and gives the whips a hard tug, sending Black flying over his head and through the staircase to the docked ship, demolishing it completely. With Erron down for the moment, Takeda runs over to Jin and helps him back to his feet "When we get back, you're teaching me that" Kun Jin says to Takeda "Deal. Go help with Ermac. I've got this" Behind them, Erron kips up to his feet and charges Takeda. The ninja turns around and tries to slide tackle Black, but the outlaw vaults over him, coming down into a roll to his feet. Takeda also spins back to his feet.

"Think you can handle me alone? You're either brave or foolish" Erron Black threatens. They fight. Takeda proves his bravery twice over through his speed and skill, and takes the battle right to the mercenary. After a hard fought battle, Takeda leaves Black as unconscious as he did Reptile "Brave or foolish, I'm alive" Takeda says walking over Erron Blacks' body. Over at the end of the docks, Ermac has been keeping the rest of Team S-F at bay easily enough. He face plants Kung Jin with a telekinetic slam, blasts (name) and Mileena right down the docks with a burst of soul energy, knocking out Jacqui as well, and caps it off by deflecting Cassie's gun from her hand, before levitating her into the air. Before Ermac can finish her, Takeda grapples him in a sleeper hold, breaking the energies keeping Cassie in the air. She falls unconscious, and Ermac is unable to bring his powers to Takeda while grappled "Let's see what's worth learning in there" Takeda says then he slams a palm onto Ermac's forehead. Takeda only holds it there a couple of moments before he cries out in pain and reels backward, clutching his head and letting go of Ermac "So many minds... trapped inside..." Takeda said clutching his head in pain "We exist to serve. Bound by Shao Kahn's magic" Ermac said facing Takeda "The chaos... the voices..." Takeda muttered still trying to recover "We are many. You are one. Your abilities pale before us" They fight. The battle proves to be one of the toughest challenges Takeda has ever faced, for Ermac was hardly weakened by the onslaught of Team S-F and Takeda himself is still disorientated after trying to read his mind. Nonetheless, the Shirai Ryu Chujin steps up to the task and fights with all he has. At the end it proves to be just enough to defeat the many souled warrior.

"I think I've had enough of Outworld" Takeda said as he walks over to his teammates, who have just finished picking themselves off the docks "I'm starting to get why my dad retired" Jacqui said smirking "this is nothing. You should've seen this place 20 years ago" (name) chuckled at the memory of old outworld "We have to find D'Vorah. Get the amulet" Cassie said looking at everyone "Let's go. They won't be out long" Kung Jin said (name) nodded "follow us" she said gesturing to her and Mileena. They all run off.

The scene cuts to Kotal Kahn's palace. Reptile, Erron and Ermac are all either seated or standing around the table, with the Kahn pacing nearby "D'Vorah? And the Earthrealmers?" Kotal Khan asked "She stole the amulet, then helped them escape" Erron black said "She betrayed us to the Thunder God" reptile hissed. Kotal Khan shakes his head in disappointment "You wound me, D'Vorah" he says sadly before he turns to his lieutenants "Prepare the legions. We go to Earthrealm. We will wrest back the amulet from that devil Raiden"

The scene cuts to the Kuatan jungle, where Team S-F have now reached. Takeda is speaking to Kenshi through his communicator "We're all in one piece. No one seems to be tailing us" Takeda says "Have you been able to determine where D'Vorah was headed?" Kenshi asked through the communicator "We think she's headed for the Sea of Blood" Takeda said when another voice is heard over the communicator "Damn!" "Dad?" Jacqui asked referring to her father, Jax "She's coming here. To Quan Chi. There's a secret portal near the Sea of Blood. Quan Chi had it built when we were gettin' ready to invade Outworld" "Great" said Cassie "Dad, what are you doing? Why are you in the Netherrealm?" Jacqui asked. The scene cuts to the Netherrealm. Jax is walking along the Crossroads with Kenshi and a squad of Special Forces soldiers, speaking into the communicator "Well, now who's being overprotective?" Jax chuckled "Jax be nice" (name) said pulling down her mask "...Jacqui? Who was that?" Jax asked "Dad you're never gonna believe this" Jacqui said smirking while looking at (name). (name) use her own communicator to locate Jax she looked back at the team "Jax I'm on my way" (name) said before looking to Takeda "(telepathically) watch Mileena" she thought to him, he nodded. She's family" Jax interrupts Jacqui "That's why I'm worried" "I'll be fine. You stay safe, y'hear?" "You stay safe too. I love you. Briggs out" "Briggs out" He switches off the communicator.

"Feeling better? Or worse?" Kenshi asked "Not sure. Maybe both" Jax replied. Kenshi chuckles and places a hand on Jax's shoulder "They'll be fine" Kenshi says trying to reassure Jax "Question is, will I be?" They walk over the Crossroad's bridge to the landscape before it. Several soldiers have set up a perimeter behind cover, facing outward into the hellish landscape beyond "We have good crossfire position. But why is it Quan Chi travels by conventional means?" Kenshi said as they walk over to another person - one of the Netherrealms' more known denizens - for their answer "He seems unable to fully use his magic. He's weaker than when I was... in his service" said the woman known as Sareena "Sareena's dead on. He doesn't have Shinnok as a power source. He's still Quan Chi, though" Jax said when a burst of fire appeared behind them revealing (name) with her mask on "Major Briggs, Kenshi" she said bowing "and who might you be?" Jax said ready to fight when Kenshi placed and arm in front of him "do not worry she is a friend" he said. (name) pulled down her mask and smiled "hello Jax" she said as said man smirked "so this is what Raiden was talking about" "he told you?" she asked surprised "yeah, I didn't believe it at first" Jax said before Sareena spoke "He approaches" The soldiers around them ready their assault rifles. Jax, (name) and Kenshi crouch with Sareena behind cover, Jax with a growing dread visible on his face (name) places a hand on his shoulder "it's gonna be ok" he nods.

The scene cuts over to the hell-horses galloping toward the ambush at full speed. Quan Chi leads the group. All of the available soldiers take cover and aim their weapons directly at the approaching horde. Accompanying Quan Chi are Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana, Sindel, Kabal, Stryker and Nightwolf. Kenshi waits a few moments before giving his command "Now!" Kenshi shouts. The soldiers open fire. They don't score any immediate hits, but the barrage is enough to spooks the hell-mounts. They rear up on their hind legs and refuse to go forward. One soldier aims his gun and shoots a hell-horse on it's shoulder, causing it to rear up and throw Kung Lao from his saddle. Seeing this, Sindel and Kitana both jump off their mounts and take cover. Jax notices this, looking very concerned. Sindel shoots off a blast of purple magic from her palm that hits a soldier near Jax. He falls to the ground, either unconscious or dead. Stryker aims a pistol from his mount and fires, blowing a hole through the skull of another soldier.

(name) summons a fire whip and snaps it at the legs of Strykers' mount causing it to rear back knocking Stryker off. A bullet fired from another soldier clips Quan Chi's mount in the neck. It drops dead, falling on it's master's leg in the process. Liu Kang immediately dismounts from his hell-horse to assist Quan Chi. Two more soldiers shoot at Kabal's horse, and he responds to their poor aim by charging them. As the horse approaches, Kabal pulls his hook swords from their sheaths, readies one in his hand and decapitates a soldier as he gallops past. Kenshi comes out of cover to assist, and Jax realises that the skirmish is going to end badly "Shit..." Jax mutters as Kabal takes the head off another soldier, Kenshi pulls out Sento and yells out in Japanese, losing off a telekinetic push that shoves Kabal off his mount. As he rushes in to engage Kabal, Liu Kang finishes pulling Quan Chi's leg out from under the hell-horse carcass. Several soldiers run up to engage them, and Kang lets loose one of his fireballs – which now looks more like a black hole encased with dark red energy. The fireball lands dead centre of the soldiers, exploding into flames and roasting them instantly.

With the way now clear, Liu Kang takes his master by the arm and escorts him through the ambush, with Kung Lao following close by them. They rush past Jax's hiding spot, not noticing him as they move towards the Crossroads. Realising that no one else can stop them; Jax takes a second to ready himself and stands up from behind cover, charging after them. Kung Lao turns around and spots Jax approaching, and moves to intercept him. (name) pulls her mask back up and fires a fire ball between Jax and Kun Lao "Jax go help the soldiers I've got this" she said. Jax nods and runs to help. (name) looks sadly at her former friend "Lao I know you and I know this isn't somethin you would do willingly" she said trying to reason with him "you do not know me very well then, wench" (name) frowned "the Kung Lao I know would never insult a woman!" she growled then tackled him to the ground making her straddle him "Lao please I'm begging you stop this n-" she was cut off when Kung Lao used his hat to slice her across both of her arms making her recoil backwards in pain. He took this opportunity to throw her off and stand to his feet "begging will get you nowhere" he said ready to fight as did (name) after saying "I tried to settle this without fighting but you forced my hand!" They fight. Kung Lao proves to have lost none of his speed and skill in undeath and the battle is a difficult one for (name) to go through since she is reluctant to fight her former friend. Never the less (name) fights back without using her fire and over powers the former shaolin monk knocking him to the ground groaning in pain "and to think I was grieved when I heard you had died" (name) said

(name) tosses Kung Laos' hat away from his reach and stands over his immobile body. He looks up at the woman who defeated him "w-who are you?" he rasped out her eyes showed nothing but disappointment "I'm so disappointed in you Lao" she said and began to walk away but stopped briefly "you once stood for peace and truth now you are its' enemy. How pleased would Lady (name) be if she saw you doing this?" she said before running off. Kung Laos' undead heart cracked as he rose to his feet. He began to think and remember what he once fought for. He wanted to fight and avenge the death of the woman who claimed possession over his heart but died by the hand of his so called master and fought for him instead. 'Lady (name)...what have I done?'

The scene cuts to Sindel falling to floor unconscious, with burn marks over her body, and (name) standing over her "easier than last time. You're losing your touch, Sindel" (name) said before continuing on and jumps over the body of Kitana 'Jax must've been through here' she thought to herself she turns on her communicator as she is running "Kenshi this is (name)!" she said "(name) the attack has ceased where are you?" Kenshi answered through the communicator "I'm going after Quan chi. I'm one of the only people Lui Kang might listen to" "and if that fails" (name) frowns "I'll take him down and capture Quan chi" "you'll be killed!" Sareena said worried "it wouldn't be the first time. (name) out" (name) turned off her communicator and kept running. The scene cuts to Quan Chi's fortress. Liu Kang stands over Quan Chi, who is seated on a throne "In your weakened state, is it possible for you to release Shinnok?" Liu Kang asked "I am more than capable" Quan Chi replied "And D'Vorah? Are you certain she is capable? "She WILL bring the amulet to me" "don't count on it" (name) said suddenly arriving.

Liu Kang turns around at the new arrival "interesting D'Vorah warned me of a new warrior but I did not expect you to be a female" Quan Chi said smirking "last time you underestimated me you ended up being beaten to a bloody pulp" (name) said stepping forward as did Liu Kang.

"So you fight for Raiden? The fools follow fools" He throws a dark fireball. (name) sidesteps it and walks forward "Raiden did his best to keep you all safe!" Liu Kang charges up another fireball "HE ALLOWED LADY (name) TO DIE! AS WELL AS ME!" Liu Kang throws it, but (name) ducks the projectile and continues forward "you're wrong! Raiden would have protected you and there was nothing he could do to save her!" Liu Kang throws another fireball. (name) dodges this one as well "You were not there! He stole EVERYTHING from me!" Once more, Kang throws a fireball. (name) doesn't bother dodging this one; she bats it away with her flaming hand. She now has reached Liu Kang, much to Quan Chi's surprise "You do not deserve to join us" (name) only frowns further at this. Liu Kang throws two last fireballs, but each one is knocked away by (name) she settles into fighting stance ready for battle "Instead you will learn... there are worse things than death"

They fight. (name)s' skills are at a disadvantage against Liu Kang. The former fighter has all of the speed, strength, stamina and skill he had when he was alive, and he's every bit the fighter he was when he defeated Shao Kahn. But (name)s' determination and skill aids her and she manages to take Liu Kang down. She stands over his body like she did Kung Laos' as he struggles to move "you bring shame to us all Liu. And you lied to me" she said walking away from his body. With no more bodies to help him, Quan Chi rises as (name) approaches, seemingly to reason with her "there is no need for hostil—" "shut up!" She punctuates his point by uppercutting Quan Chi square in the mouth.

The sorcerer is thrown high into the air and crashes into a wall of skulls. He slumps down, KO'ed in one hit "you're fucked now" she walked to him and smirked as she kneelt down "while I was in outworld with Mileena I studied with Ermac on magic and how to copy it" she placed a hand on Quan Chis' forehead. It began to glow a sinister red which soon enveloped her body but disappeared shortly after. She frowned "hm, seems that I didn't learn a lot" then a deadly smirk made a way on her face "but I will enjoy your death immensely" she stood up and turned on her communicator "got him" she said "excellent work (name)" "thanks *looks to Liu Kangs' body* I'm heading back to base have Jax head over here to intercept D'vorah, she plans on giving Quan Chi Shinnok's' amulet to bring back Shinnok" She said turning off her communicator and walks over to Liu Kang. She kneels beside him "I know you're awake" she said looking down at him as he opens his eyes to glare at her "what do you want? Are you here to mock me?" she shook her head "how did you know what I would do? My moves, my movements" (name) smiled "once upon a time I called you friend I just hope that I still can Liu" She smiled sadly at him as she began to allow fire to engulf her body "see ya, Liu, I hope" and with that she was gone leaving Liu Kang on the ground for some strange reason his heart cracked. He was so confused as questions filled his head where had he heard that voice before? Why did it hurt his so much when she left? Why did he crave her touch? And what did she mean by 'she was once his friend'? He heard his fellow revenants footsteps could be heard coming towards him.

Shang tsung should be child free. That should be common fucking sense but here we are.

i hate that stupid fucking annoying af bullshit hcs of mileena being a daughter to shang when basic fucking lore states she is shao kahns daughter. And is the cloned sister of kitana. Frost’s blue eyes shined in the dark of the night as she lay awake, staring at the ceiling. It was another long night of being kept awake by her own thoughts, however this night seemed to be extra horrid for her mind. She turned to look over at skarlet, the blood mage sound asleep. Instead of being comforted by the sight of her love, frosts mind was only filled with sadness

“You don't deserve her” frosts mind yelled “she is a perfect ruby, your just a weak child” frost quickly turned away, and quietly got out of bed, her metallic legs lightly whirring as she stood up. She slowly walked over to the nearby window, the pale moonlight illuminating her robotic body. She stared out into the dark of the night, thinking.

Holding up her metallic arm she stared at it with hate, when kronika gave her the offer she accepted without hesitation, recognition, power, and a body she could design to be what she always wanted to be, it was like a dream come true. Until they lost, frost and many others were given second chances, and frost was left with some power, and a robotic body for the rest of her life.

She slowly closed her hand into a fist in rage, without kronika, without her new era, what was she?! She wasn't human, she couldn't grow or love or care about anyone, we was a soldier without a war, she was a weapon, nothing more. If she could still cry tears would have been in her eyes right now, she couldn't be normal, she couldn't love anything, skarlet deserve someone human, not a weapon like her.

The feeling of a soft hand on her shoulder brought frost back to reality, she turned to see skarlet, her eyes showing obvious worry for frost being up this late. Frost let out a long sigh “sorry i didn't mean to wake you up, just head back to bed i'll be there in a sec”

“This is the 3rd time this week frost, this time is the latest you've been up” skarlet says moving next to frost “im worried frost...this isn't healthy”

Frost gave a fake smile “ no its okay im fine trust me, i think my body is glitching up, dont worry about me, you need to get the sleep more” she said patting skarlet’s shoulder, only for her hand to get pulled away

“Don't lie to me” skarlet says, taking hold of frosts robotic hand “something is wrong, you can tell me okay, the last thing i need is you suffering by yourself okay? Just tell me what's wrong” she says looking at frost

Frost sighed “....fine…..i..i don't feel like i belong….” she said looking out into the darkness of the night “i'm not human anymore, i'm not even full robot...i'm a freak!” she said as her hands shivered “i….i don't deserve someone like you….i don't deserve anything, i can't love, i can't live, i'm just a worthless weapon!” she yelled out, eyes full of pain as she looked back at skarlet, only to see her ruby love with a smile

“Frost…..your more human than most people i have ever met..” her fingers wrap around frosts “and sometimes…..i feel your more human than me…” her eyes grew slightly teary.

Frost looked at skarlet in shock “w….what..”

“I….i've felt your pain far to much, i never had a home...a family..all i had was a knife and a hunger. And when shao kahn saw my fire, took me in, i lost everything that made me human..and that hunger...that rage only grew with the blood magic...i became only a weapon for shao khan...just a blade to drain the blood from whomever he chose….” she sniffled, wiping her eyes.

Frost stood in confusion and shock, before rushing forward and embracing skarlet in a hug “i...skarlet….i'm sorry...i...i…”

“Its okay its okay” she buries her face into frosts neck “our pasts….our choices..they don't matter now okay...we will be what we choose to be!”

Frost smiled and runs her fingers through skarlet’s hair “we...we will be more than weapons...we will have the love that we were denied all our lives..together” she smiles, and kissed skarlet as she hugs her more

After a few seconds skarlet pulled away with a smile “together...now ready to sleep snowfox?” she asks walking back to the bed

“Now i am, my precious ruby~” frost says with a smile as she joined skarlet, wrapping her arms around her love as the two finally drift of to sleep, they would heal, they would love, together they would be more than weapons

Monsters: Ch 2. Slithering Terror in the Dark

Klinge checked in on Miranda, who had apparently awaken. Finding her, he didn’t enter the room, simply hearing that she was a crying mess. The very young Dark Elf held onto Doctor Boveir. “Please don’t go! I don’t want to be left alone in the dark! I want my mother! Where’s my mother!!!”

"Miranda, calm down, it's not good for you to be so upset." Doctor Boveir was doing his best to soothe the poor girl. "I already told you that I won't blow out the candles, there's nothing to be afraid of. You're safe here."

“No! Monsters in the dark! Monsters! Please, please don’t go! I don’t want to be left alone. Please Mr. Boveir. P-please.” The tears streamed down her eyes as she refused to let go of him. Klinge crushed the door handle subconsciously and walked away. He brought her into this mess. He allowed her to be taken by that monster.

"I'm not going anywhere, I'm right here, okay?" Doctor Boveir assured the terrified elf. "Look, I'm here tonight, along with three other nurses, all right? There's no monsters in the dark. Look around." He gestured to the medical bay, lit by candle light. "Now, you have multiple broken bones and you need to rest from your healing session."

Miranda sniffed, slowly letting go. “I-I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” She tucked herself into bed, the tears only making her more tired.

"Now, now, there's no need to apologize." Doctor Boveir patted Miranda's head. "We all get scared sometimes. It's normal. Close those eyes, and try to sleep. If you need me, I'll be right here." Once the elf appeared to have drifted off into an exhausted slumber, the doctor placed another blanket on the sheets to keep her warm.

Only Miranda wasn’t talking to him. She lied in bed, staying awake for a while listening a praying she didn’t hear anything.

Doctor Boveir was doing his usual rounds and checking on patients. The darkness hid most due to the lack of light. Though Bonegrinder had his way of moving around Hyrule castle without being seen.

"Tiny snack... little elf... if you do not behave, you will lose more than just your life." Bonegrinder's voice came from within the wall behind her bed. "Would you like for the monster to go after your mother? Your friends? Eat them while you watch? You were warned not to traverse into the catacombs, but you did not listen. Tsk, tsk, stupid little elf..."

Miranda grew bug eyed, holding the sheets close to her and over her head. “No! Please. I-I’m sorry! I never should have gone near you. Please don’t hurt me or my mother. I’ll do whatever you ask. Please, please go away. Please I’m sorry.”

"Do you think apologizing is enough for what you did?" Bonegrinder scoffed. "You have alerted the undead commander to not only Bonegrinder's presence but those of the others in the catacombs. All because of your insistence when the prince ordered you to let it go... silly elf, don't you see now that the pretty prince was trying to protect you? And here, you doubted him, went behind his back to the undead tool. If he comes after Bonegrinder, those in Bonegrinder's home... then you will be the first to die, you stupid girl." The snake threatened. "Warn your commander to stay put or you will meet more monsters who Bonegrinder will gladly share your flesh with."

“No! NO! PLEASE MR BONEGRINDER!!! IM SORRY!!!” Miranda started to frantically scream and cry again. “This silly, stupid elf is yours! Please just don’t hurt me or my mother! PLEASE!!! Oh god have mercy, PLEASE!!!!!”

Doctor Boveir heard Miranda's frantic cries and rushed over to the elf.

"Miranda, Miranda, calm down! It's was just a bad dream, you're here, you're safe!" The doctor motioned for the nurses to come over to the bed as well. "There's no... no bone-monster here! There's nothing here! It was just a nightmare, there's no such thing as monsters."

“HE’S IN THE WALLS!!! OH GOD IM SORRY!!! PLEASE! I HAVE TO TELL RALNOR AND KLINGE I WAS WRONG!!! HE’S GOING TO EAT ME!!! CANT YOU HEAR HIM?!?!” Miranda frantically pushed against the doctors.

"Doctor, she must be hallucinating from the pain or the medication."

"Administer a stronger sedative and have a volunteer sit with her." Doctor Boveir ordered. "The girl is troubled mentally. We need to keep an eye on her." He then said with a frown. "And I need to have a talk with Commander Klinge about what happened. We cannot help until we know."

“NO! YOU SAID YOU WOULDN’T LEAVE ME!” Miranda bit one of the doctors hands as she attempted to run away. “Mother! I have to see my mother!”

Seeing Klinge watching from the end of the hallway she screamed at him. “Please don’t go after him! PLEASE!!!”

Her cries of lunacy and panic practically woke the castle. Klinge was glad he was wearing a helmet, because he couldn’t bear to look her in the eye. “I’ll end him....”

"Oh good goddesses, someone sedate her, now!" Doctor Boveir had to pry the girl's mouth away from his hand and the nurse quickly gave her a shot to put her to sleep. Shaking his head, he was pissed that the girl was acting so erratic and speaking of monsters. What if she had some sort of poison in her system? What if it was a dangerous gas that she breathed? He had no answers and no idea how to treat her. "Commander Klinge!" Normally, Doctor Boveir was a calm guy and it took a lot to get him angry. "I want... no, I need some damn answers, right now! The girl is out of her mind! What happened?!"

Klinge stayed calm, a little bit of spite in his voice. “You can ask Prince Ralnor, though I’m sure he will simply tell you she’s insane. I think the King and Queen would love to know the truth as much as you.”

"... I don't have time for your mind games." The doctor dismissed Klinge's statement with a huff. "Speaking of monsters in the walls. It's bad enough the maids say the castle is haunted and now you're in on this prattle too. I don't know what this girl saw or what the devil happened when you two went into that tunnel of madness, and I have a feeling I'm not going to get a proper answer. Until she is completely better, both physically and mentally, she is not to return to her work. Is that clear?"

“And she won’t be better until I deal with her monster. You can tell the Prince, the King, and the Queen I no longer take their orders until the matter is dealt with. Now go take care of your patients doctor. Before you receive something far more strong than a bite from me.” Klinge wagged a finger of warning at the doctor before walking to Tulilaid and Kelly, who had arrived to investigate the commotion. “Captains. I have a special assignment for you.”

“Yes, Commander Klinge?”

Tulilad quickly brushed back his hair and tried to wipe off any lipstick evidence on his face that might have been left there by Kelly. Clearing his throat, he stood up straight and faced his superior. “What assignment?”

“….I need you to go on a grocery run. Cake needs a casing. Might be rats in the wall. The Queen wants to take a cruise ship out to sea.”

Kelly kept a straight face, with only a flinch of concern. This was special code used only for emergency situations. Klinge handed Tulilad as list. “I’m taking a holiday. Be good.”

Oh shit. Grocery run was a vital hush hush mission. The cake needing a casing was a VIP needing protection. Her eyes studied her surroundings. Rats meant a spy or something listening in. And the cruise ship meant taking a garrison to take someone far away from Hyrule for their own good. Klinge was really laying it on them. But it was the vacation that worried Kelly. It meant Klinge was going rogue on his own. Who knew how long. She and Tulilad had to get somewhere private and read the note.

The Undead filth was becoming a thorn in his side. The criminal heads, his ‘Hive’ as he called it, were bringing him multiple complaints. Evidently, this commander was declaring war on him and his brood for what happened. This was nothing new to the Anagari. Sooner or later, there would be a mistake. Then, he could take advantage of the situation. A man with revenge on his mind was liable to act irrationally. The second prince could not control the undead like a puppet, despite Bonegrinder’s insistence that he be kept on a leash. Still, it was not Ralnor’s fault that Klinge would not behave. The prince was too soft to use necromancy magic to keep the bag of rotted flesh under his thumb. So Bonegrinder waited patiently, listening and watching… until every person was in place.

As the Hive gathered, Sheer-Kahn trotted in. He was an old and ancient creature. With four hooves he walked with a clack of every step. His upper body had two powerful arms for carrying his weapons of choice, a massive sharpened club and a bow that shot arrows the size of small tortoises. His main was silvery white, with a grey body. He was a Lynel.

In times much older, he might have been King here. But Hyrule’s darkest corners now held creatures far more adaptive then him. As powerful as he was, not even he could move an immovable object. He took his place and waited patiently. Here, his code name was Hades. For if anyone sought death by angering his master, he’d send them to the Underworld.

“Sheer-Kahn… my loyal friend, my trusted warrior.” Bonegrinder motioned for the Lynel to come into his personal chambers. He had the deeper sections of the catacombs suited for living. No one under his command wanted anything more than they needed. Every need and want was catered to within reasonable request. One thing was for sure, Bonegrinder took care of those who were loyal to him. Certain areas were nothing short of luxurious, despite being underground. The Anagari took a slow inhale of his pipe and let the smoke float out of his nostrils. “The undead filth has been a thorn in our garden for quite some time now, hasn’t he?”

Sheer-Kahn nodded. “More so now that he has discovered your presence. He’s always taken care to destroy the criminal element that has been created by you, even if only unintentional and previously unknown to your presence,  simply because it is ‘the right thing to do’. Now he’s targeting the infrastructure himself.”

“He doesn’t realize that what we do effects not just our brood, but those under us, those we take care of, the rejects no one wants.” Bonegrinder’s underground empire was ran to benefit some of Hyrule’s most unfortunate. Those who had nowhere else to go, came to the Hive for a home. However, Bonegrinder ran the underground organization like a tight ship. There was no room for error. A threat to him was threat to all under his command. If Klinge wanted to play dirty, then he could do so as well. “This old snake won’t have the others suffering because of it. The three he keeps close to him… the half breed, the kid elf, and the small guard. We need to bring them here.”

“They are in the heart of the castle. That could prove to be difficult.” Sheer-Kahn took a bow. “But nothing is below me. What would you have me do?”

“If the little elf is taken… the others will follow.” Bonegrinder slithered up to Sheer-Kahn, his claws holding up the Lynel’s chin. “You are strength and might incarnate, trusted friend. Nothing you put your mind to will ever fail. Though it is not unnecessary to ask for help when it is needed.” He then gestured to the figures in the dark. “Morowa and Negasi will accompany you if you wish it?”

Sheer-Kahn thought it over. Klinge needed to be distracted and taken away from the castle. Hades’ existence could not be made publicly known to the general population, so he couldn’t enter the castle, but he could take Klinge’s attention away. “Will you listen to my plan my friend?”

“Of course.” Bonegrinder offered the Lynel a pipe while he listened. When he was done explaining, Bonegrinder smiled wildly in content.

Cassie n Jacqui can still exist without that awkward family ties they had in canon.

Cassie can exist without being reduced to army baby brat offspring. And actually have a damn personality.

Jacqui can still be jaxs daughter maybe from another marriage but ultimately sonya becomes a mom figure to her and cassie without reducing sonya to have to fucking be nuclear family type shit thrown at her.

Like you can have family bonds without having to have birthed them to be strong. You dont need to pop out a baby to be a mom too.

Kung lao doesn't die every five fucking seconds. He gets the respect he deserves. And nobody's fucking mean to him because FUCK YOU BIG TIME.

Shang tsung gets an actual backstory of younger days before shao kahn,before shit hit the fan,before he became the soul succ sorcerer we know n love. Basically his younger days as a warrior and when he first competed in the tournament with the great kung lao (kung lao jrs ancestor) and im gonna make you feel bad for snek man because fuck your feelings. Plus he's my fave. And i wanna actually give reasons why he spiraled down other than "baby want power"

Sindel how she became evil gets retconned because thats bullshit. She never was evil from the beginning. Quan chis cooties just make her evil and she chose to stay that way because she actually fell for shao khan because wifeguy shao kahn is kinda funny.

Juno Steel stared at the most eclectic group of seven people he’s ever seen in his life (and that's saying something), all crammed into his tiny office. They're all wearing red jackets and cloaks like they're the weirdest gang he's ever seen or they're on a family reunion vacation at Polaris Park. The big guy shifted awkwardly, and one of the lithe ones leaned down to the shortest, whispering something.

“Rita!” he called, “Why the hell did you let them in here?”

“They're desperate, boss,” she replied, poking her head in the door. With everyone else stuffed into his office, that's all the room she has. “And they've promised good money. And we both know it's been a bit of a slow time for cases, and the lights ain't gonna pay for themselves -”

“Alright, alright,” Juno acquiesced, waving her out the door. It was cramped enough as-is.

Somehow, the door managed to close, and the room felt even more claustrophobic. “Alright, so,” Juno starts, trying in vain to look all seven of them in the eye, “why are you here?”

“We lost something,” said the shortest, pulling himself onto the chair. The apparent leader of this ragtag bunch.

Juno pinched the bridge of his nose. “And you didn't bother the HCPD with this because…?”

“We tried, but they said they were too busy,” the big guy piped up. “The captain was very nice and sent us to you, saying you were the best there was.”

Kahn? If that was Kahn then there has to be a catch, and a huge one at that. “Alright, fine, where was it last seen?”

“Streaking through the sky about a week ago,” one of the twins said. They had to be twins, they looked too much alike to be anything else. The other continued, “Our calculations point to it landing somewhere around here, most likely in this city.”

“A week?” Juno sighed. “A week in the Martian desert and it's probably buried by now. And it's impossible that it could have landed inside Hyperion City, the shield deflects any solid objects -”

“It's not solid.” The interruption comes from a man in the back, unremarkable aside from a chubby belly and his bright blue jeans.

“I'm sorry?” Juno can feel a migraine coming on, just behind his one good eye.

“Well, it feels solid enough when you hold it, but unless you place it on some kind of magically reinforced stand, it will just eventually start slipping through whatever it's sitting on. That nearly caused Magnus a heart attack first time he placed it on a table and came back to find it missing.” Bluejeans patted the big guy on the shoulder. Big guy (Magnus?) just stared at the wall, flush creeping up his cheeks.

Great, a lost semi solid object, that couldn't take a hundred years to find… Wait. “Magic?”

“Yeah, you know, magic,” said one of the twins, snapping their fingers. And then snapping again, with a dawning look of horror on their face. “Not another cycle without a plane of magic, Lulu. I can't do this again!” The other twin simply pats them of their back, as the first begins sobbing into their shoulder. Lulu meets Juno's gaze and rolls her eyes good-naturedly.

Of course Khan would send seven nutjobs his way.

Juno lets a breath a breath out through his nose, slowly. “I'm very sorry, but I'm much too busy to take this, regardless of what my secretary said -”

He's abruptly cut off by the one in the chair plopping a large sack on his desk. “Perhaps this will persuade you?”

Curious despite his best instincts, Juno opens it. He stares up at them, dumbstruck. “Is this gold? Real, actual gold?”

The small one with a large beard speaks up for the first time. “Guess that's not the currency here, huh?”

It may not be the currency, but… There was enough gold here to make four, maybe five solid gold bars, and that was a lot of creds. Enough to keep the lights on for the next few months, at least. Juno plucks some of the coins out of the bag. There were many different designs stamped onto them, and all of them had writing systems that were unintelligible to him. Still, gold is gold. He just has to not think about how legally this was acquired.

Perhaps they could see the wonder on his face. “There's another sack waiting for you once you get us the Light,” the leader said, leaning back in his chair, crossing his arms, radiating confidence.

Juno sighed. He really was backed in a corner, too strapped for cash to refuse this. “Fine. Give me the details. First of all, I want your names.”

“Davenport,” the leader said.

Juno scratched the name onto a pad, then glanced back up. “Davenport, what? Just Davenport?”

Davenport returned his look with steely intensity. “You can call me Captain Davenport, if you'd like.”

Juno let out a breath halfway to a sigh and scribbled “Captain” before the name. At least a rank would help with tracking down information.

Turns out it was not the weirdest name of the group. Juno pointed at the twins next. “Taco,” replied one. “Loop,” said the other. Chubby McJeans was about to say something when Juno held up his hand to stop him.

“Hold on, hold on. 'Taco’? as in the traditional Earth food?” Juno asked, disbelief tinting his voice.

“Uh… no?” The twin gave him an incredulous look. “Taako. As in, the me. T-A-A-K-O. You know, from TV?” He snickered and the rest of the group rolled their eyes, in varying degrees of subtlety. Juno hasn't seen him on a stream before, but he should probably ask Rita. She might know.

Juno corrected the spelling and pointed to the other. “You. L-O-O-P?”

She just raised an eyebrow. “No. L-U-P. What, never heard of elven spelling before?”

Elven spelling? What the fuck does that mean? Taako tugged his twin closer and whispered something in her ear, and all Juno could pick up was the returned “Oh, shit.” Then both turned back to smile awkwardly at him.

Juno made a note of it but decided not to push for details right then. They were going to get increasingly off track if he addressed every single weird thing they did, and he was getting hungry.

He pointed to the next guy. “You there, name.”

Jeans was startled out of his apparent reverie. “Oh, uh, Barry J Bluejeans.”

Juno put down his pen in the middle of writing “Barry” and glared. “That's real funny. Bet the J stands for Jorts or somethin’, huh? Real name, please.”

“That… that is my real name. And yeah, actually.”

Juno finished writing the name, free hand holding his forehead like it was the only thing keeping it from hitting the desk. Maybe it was. Still, Juno wasn't really in a place to judge; he fell for a man carrying the name “Rex Glass”, after all.

Juno let out a sigh through his nose and addressed the next person he laid eyes on. “You there, quiet one. You gonna stop writing steamy romance novels and tell me your name?”

She still kept writing, until someone else in her group nudged her. She looked up, startled. “Oh, uh. Lucretia. My name’s Lucretia.”

Juno was really getting tired of their shit, if he was being honest. “Let me guess. Just Lucretia?” She nodded and shrugged a bit, sympathetic smile on her face. Juno just huffed and wrote it down.

The other two were relatively normal, Merle Hitower Highchurch, and Magnus Burnsides (of course held by the man with the bushiest sideburns Juno’s ever seen. Why would he assume otherwise with these chucklefucks?). Juno cleared his throat. “These are all your actual, legal names?” Maybe there was still hope this was all an elaborate prank.

They all nodded, even Lucretia looked up from her constant writing to acknowledge him. Well, there goes his afternoon.

Dear Susi,

Surely this boy has seen you! I mean, there are usually only 20 students in a class. The problem is easy to solve. You just have to have more confidence! If you do not do anything to become more confident, then nothing happens. And do you know that many boys like it when the girls take the first step, because they are usually nervous too. I ask you, what is the worst thing that could happen?

Just tell him hello and ask him if he needs anything because he's new to school. Do you already know what he is interested in? If not, ask your other classmates who may know him better. Then talk to him in the classroom or in the breaks. Then it gets a little easier every day. Good luck! I hope it works!

Fun Facts:

 When asked for an opinion on something important or personal to the asker, many Americans consider it "polite" to give a vague answer rather than a negative one. Many Germans consider it "polite" to give a frank answer, assuming the person really wants to know. Our "beating-around-the-bush" is considered just as rude to them as their frankness may seem to us. Knowing things like this in advance can save hurt feelings on both sides.

Since the early 90's, the band Die Prinzen has been recording albums with great success. Their band name and logo come from the story of the Frog Prince from the Brother Grimm's fairy tale. They have been called the most successful band to come out of  the former East Germany. The band members got their start by being a part of the Thomanerchor, a world-famous choir of Leipzig's Thomaskirche, a magnificent old church where Johann Sebastian Bach was music director in the 18th century. Just as new English terms have emerged from all of the instant messaging and chat rooms in the U.S., the same is true in Germany.  In fact, Germans use the word chatten to describe what people do online.  Here are some of the more popular items:

Over the last number of years, there has been a growing concern about the low birthrate of 1.3 children per woman in Germany. Just over 30% of the women in Germany are childless. Stated bluntly, researchers say the population cannot be sustained if the birth rate does not increase to at least 2.1. 

People have different opinions as to why this low birth rate has occurred. Many state poor childcare options as well as a school day that ends at 1:00 in the afternoon. Both of these situations make it difficult for mothers to work out of the home. Other researchers state stereotypes of working moms vs. stay-at-home moms as road blocks to an increase in the birth rate. The government is naturally looking at ways to respond to these concerns and provide options to assist families.
