cohost is going down and im trying to find a good alternative for it (obviously not tumblr, bc, well im already here and i want a separate social media that can be more personal)

i want a place where i can privately share my wips with my close friends, as well as more personal life stuff that i wouldnt share on here. its so important that the account can be fully 100% private- no one who i dont approve as a follower should be able to find it or see it. i dont want a lot of my writing+art to go public before im ready for it to, and i also dont want irls to find me.

BUT because im sharing wips, it cant be a twitter clone with a character small limit. i tried mastodon servers with huge character limits (like 5000) but then the issue became every reply someone makes shows up on your main feed. which doesnt work for me. there was a toggle for this but it didnt actually work to turn off the reply spam drowning out actual posts- it all just becomes noise and gives me a headache

webpages like neocities wont work bc i wanna use it as a social media (i also want to see my friends posts and writing), not a webpage! also idek if you can make those actually private

and... in theory facebook actually works for character limit+comment reasons buuuut its just kinda too public. i know you can make a private account but it seems to connect to everything you do anyway and i just cant trust it to not recommend me as a friend to my mom and completely and utterly out me.

a small microblogging site like cohost was perfect and fit everything i was looking for. now that its going down, yeah, ill probably have to make do with something else, but nothing else really seems to fit what im looking for.

if all else fails i can make a more private tumblr blog but... thats just kinda not what i want. i want a separate site for me and all my friends. turning back to tumblr feels like going backwards

Its a day late i know but finally i have something to share again

So, back in 2022, I made a we dont talk about the mage parody of the Encanto song, posted it here, and days after that, I started writing other parodies including Taylor Swift songs. The thing is after 2 full years, they are still WIPs. And i kinda need to finish one of them now because I promised @yoursecho one and they shall have it!!

Also, I've been so so invested recently in @philaet0s ' Social Media au that it literally spiked my interest again on tumblr, I thought maybe I'd try to give lyrics into one of Baz's songs.

And look, when i saw the part where baz and niall flirts on stage, i immediately thought of Troye Sivan's performance with Ross Lynch. (how could you not??) So the lyrics are based on the melody of his song, One Of Your Girls (the mv is good too, its soo raw)

And also, with saltwater vs freshwater slimes, because of the biology difference, would they sort of have it in a we don't like each other/refuse to interact with each other because of it? Or do they just kinda not really run into each other?

Also love the idea of subtypes though!! Diversity among non-human somewhat-humanoid species <3

With the subtypes, would that affect their way of speaking at all? Like accent wise? Or would they pick up whatever they heard most while developing?

for salt and fresh, they don't hate each other at all! they don't get a chance to really interact often so they are just unfamiliar with each other, however they are all still slimes so they get along just fine when they can (usually at estuaries or other areas where fresh merges into salt). other than that they just never really see the other.

AND AHHHHH YEAH!!!! ACCENTS!!! i didn't even think about that, i was more focused on how the color of their slime might be different based on sub group and their diet/climate/environment but oh my god yeah, there is so very much an accent that only other slimes might notice ily anon thank you. I think some does come from "family", but there's always a chance for it to chnage when you move, just like real life. Like another slime could tell charlie was a cave slime at some point maybe by how he talks or acts

and the bones..... ough the bones............

I have thoughts on the bones. the most significant one is how important a skeletion is to slime hybrids. Slime mobs don't care for that sort of thing, but since hyrbids are just that, a combination of slime and (in my head) human- hybrids like bones. It's the biggest think that sets them apart from their mob counter part.

Salt slimes build their skeletons from drowned, sea life, and literal drownings, giving them slightly abnormal appearances compared to fresh that only pull from skeletons and strays and humans. when desperate, they will make do with what they have and go without bones or fashion something out of what they do have. I hc as charlie having a pretty fucked skeleton during eggxile

also i have. a wip based on the idea of étoiles giving charlie bones to help his bro out and it spirals into the accidental courting ritual cause bones are really important to hybrids. I WANT TO SAY SO MUCB MOOOREEEEEE but im trying to hold back for this wip where i explore it more. ugh

i will say that the idea of giving and sharing bones is also a familial and friendly thing too. There's different meanings and different intentions. I like to think of big slime families having hand-me-down sets of bones as slime hybrids age and grow until they are able to get their own complete skeleton, almost like a rite of passage before they leave if they decide to. they keep a bone from their family and either keep it in their skeleton or on their person. Same goes for offers from friends and more...

charlie was not afforded the same... generosity and kindness as other slimes in other families and he had to build his skeleton by force. I am going to leave that there lest i say too much :) dw you'll learn more soon

DAILY BRAINROT

I'm working on the drowning fic and had to check a few things on the wiki real quick. Turns out that mermaids and Zora are two separate species in LA, and that they do interact. Obviously, LA is a dream, and it isn't technically real, but hear me out. In WW and PH the Zora only survived The Great Sea because they evolved into the Rito. Which means if there were mermaids, they either died or turned into something else, too.

That also reminds me that I found another AU idea in my notes. I'm not sure exactly what I had in mind at the time, but the general idea is that each of them embody a specific abstract concept if I remember right. Some sort of personification thing.

I think I could work in some interesting themes and stuff about the philosophies surrounding divinity and deification, especially given the way that the LoZ pantheon is canonically set up. We already have clear differences between creator gods, more general gods, patron spirits, and other types of spirits. Even mortals can bypass death in limited ways, given the existence of the hero's shade and the fact that ghosts exist in multiple games.

Anyway, don't really have anything else interesting to report other than the fact that Time's WIP is staring at me from its corner in the WIP folder. I'm trying to decide if starting over again from scratch is a good idea or a bad idea while I procrastinate.

When they steal her in the middle of the night, the city is the only one watching. Hearing sniffles from his lap, Yuuji looked down, noticing the tears that had gathered on Megumi's eyelashes, slipping down his face. He brushed them away, hoping to soothe his boyfriend's pain. "Cursed bath?" he asked. This was the first he was hearing about a cursed bath. Just how much of his suffering had Megumi kept locked away? Yuuji's heart twisted painfully. "Yeah," Megumi replied, his voice trembling with emotion. "When Sukuna first took hold of me, I kept trying to fight back, so Uraume prepared this bath that was just pure cursed energy, and they bathed me in it. It was so painful, Yuuji. It was so cold that it burned. It was almost like bathing in acid. I kept trying to swim to the surface, but I kept sinking further, no matter how hard I tried, but I still didn’t give up. Not until Tsumiki…I tried so hard, Yuuji, I really did." Megumi's voice broke off in something akin to a sob. Yuuji felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. This guilt...this burden...it was supposed to be his alone to carry. 2. Where do you get your fic ideas?

Honestly, just from random places. I tend to theorize a lot. But sometimes the theories border on headcanon and are kinda whack (hence my other name 'The Crack Theorist') even tho they're mostly based on actual observations. For example, my Digimon Survive Highschool gang came to me when I was wondering abt the job of Shuuji's dad - is he a doctor? A politician?

Then i remembered his dad tells Shuuji he doesnt have the 'qualities befitting a Kayama son'. So I thought well what are the opposites of Shuuji's natural qualities? Possibly strength, ruthlessness, cunning, blah blah. And the stupid area of my brain concludes that his dad works for the mafia. And thats how the Gang AU was born.

As for my non AU fics, I try to stick as close to canon as possible... but they're still centered around some headcanons.

29. What's something about your writing that your proud of?

That they're self indulgent. Ive spent a lot of time, worrying abt word count thinking that its only good if its 1000+ words every chapter.

But now, esp w/ my shorter fics, i try to just write whatever feels right for the story. To let a story end at 300 words because its what feels right to me. Sometimes I sit down to write one memo and 2000 words come out and its fantastic but Ive stopped trying to force that feeling every time I write.

(And also that I can somewhat effectively mix purple and biege prose together even tho ive never heard of those terms until recently)

43. Is there a trope or idea that you'd really like to write but haven't yet?

Coffee Shop AU? Or maybe the florist and tattoo artist? Lol

Im mostly an angst writer. So sometimes I get curious abt what its like to write the cheezy cliche stuff. It doesnt have to be romance, I just want them to be happy.

“Decided I knew all I fucking needed,” she hissed in reply. “He’s fuckin’ crazy. No explaining it.”

“And aren’tcha a bit curious about what kinda crazy he’s going right now?” she questioned, whisper sharpening into a playful whine. “If not on his account, then for the sake of everyone else stuck there with him.” That pesky guilt churned fresh in Jestiny’s stomach, the bile of it stinging her tongue. “By now he’s gotta be —”

“Can the two of you stop whispering secrets over here?” The smell of rotting flowers gained an undercurrent of watery beer and gunpowder. “Or at least let me in on ’em, man. I can keep secrets too,” Hurk complained.

the design is a wip and this was my first ever drawing of him

basically his name is tempest

his life as sonic was normal until sonic cd, where he got trapped underwater by a surprise trap badnik thing in tidal tempest zone

the trap was right over a bubble so every time he nearly drowned he'd be supplied with just enough oxygen to live

he couldn't spindash through it because the scd spindash is super weak yk yk

eventually he did break free but only because the badnik's power source [the plant] died

he would have escaped but the exit and entrance were walled off by robotnik

he pretty much survived on nothing but dirty sea water and the bodies of animals [the small ones that pop out of non-cd badniks, flicky et al] that were unlucky enough to be trapped along with him

the world outside of the dilapidated tidal tempest has practically forgotten the name of sonic, as he rots away in some crypt on little planet.

some previous visitors say you can still hear his silent pleas to this day

so uh yeah i think i might cover him in vines in his final design idk

and in this drawing his quills look too neat uhh that was my b

he's also practically blind bc well he was walled off in a dark underwater crypt

anyways anyone bold enough to comment please give me ideas on how to make him look a bit less generic uhhhggh im bad at character design

wahhh merry christmas, inbox-marikenyo :DDD!!! i saw this ask on christmas eve but during then i too was also drunk off a few cocktails and promptly passed out a little bit later orz

i had a great noche buena!! i kept falling into a food coma because i kept eating so much, as the lord intended <3 JHVSKJHFVSD. i hope you also had a great christmas eve and are having a lovely christmas day today ^w^

and as for ur q, my first Real drinking experience was at a party i went to on my last year of college actually in 2020 right before the pandemic hit omg, kinda "late" by some people's standards. i say Real drinking experience, cuz prior to that party i did drink sometimes, but never enough to get drunk!

at that party though, i was with my girlfriend and it was the party of her college org and i was continually handed drinks. i Definitely Got Drunk.

what did i drink? no idea. a mutual friend of my gf and i was mixing the drinks and i never ask whats in stuff, i just drink whatever tastes sweet enough or is drowned in enough soda that i can stomach the bitterness of whatever alcohol content is within.

how was i when i was drunk? the same way i am when i get drunk nowadays: absolute disaster jahsfvasfhasvkfjh. i tend to get loud and lose all my filter when im drunk. also clingy. two things i remember clearly at that party are

1 ) my girlfriend went to the bathroom and i sat on the floor texting another friend about how i missed my girlfriend So Much and i love her So Much. later, when my gf had to leave early before me, i loudly announced "IM GOING HOME, MY GIRLFRIEND IS GONE SO I DONT WANNA BE HERE ANYMORE"

2 ) i was talking to the mutual friend who was mixing the drinks and he was talking about how he plays billiards. i remembered how billiards gloves looked like (it's like a normal glove but two fingers are out in the open) and i said something along the lines of "oh my god so you wear the WHORE GLOVES. why are billiards gloves so fucking SLUTTY"

thats pretty much how i am when im drunk up to this day ajhfvajshf but i seldom drink enough to get to That point, basically only at parties since like, im not the one paying for the drinks LMAO. when i drink lots, i get drunk. but when i drink little, i just get sleepy.

and when i drink enough to get drunk, the next morning always has me regretting Every Decision Ive Ever Made because i always...always....forget to drink water the night before....people around me try their Best to hydrate me while im drinking, but i get stubborn and forgetful and when im handed water i just put it down instinctively and look for something sweeter and usually with alcohol in it and im caught in a vicious cycle that ends with a fuckoff terrible hangover

but it's nothing a soft boiled egg breakfast cant fix HAHA

1. How many words have you written this year?

nearly 14k (13,924 to be exact) published and at least 6-7k more of wips! tragically my least prolific year since uhhhhhhhh a long time. 2017? but thats ok it was a hard year all that matters is that i survived<3 im proud of myself for what i did bc im in that kinda moment where im relearning how to write and reengaging the creative part of my brain. and next year will be better!! i have a lot of plans and a wip list as long as a cvs receipt<33

6. Favorite title you used

this one is actually your body drowning in gravity! i havent reread it in a long long while (aside: wow i was a totally different person when i wrote that (i published it jan 3)) bc my brain has temporarily been caught by other things. but it was an idea that i'd been turning over in my head for over a year at the time when i wrote it and i think i saw the richard siken poem that the title is from (it's "the dislocated room" btw) on my dash in the middle of the writing process and it was like. Perfect. like i choose all my titles very carefully but this one really knocks it out of the park. when the fic is literally about tanner thinking mallory is the one that's fallen from the top of the cns building at the end of spectre and not knowing until the body hits the ground.

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

OUGHHH this is hard. Ough. ok i DO think it's just so long as this thing's loaded. im chronically an "i wrote this for me but you can read it if you want" guy bc i have rarepair disease. if i want to read it i have to be the one to write it. but this fic was really an exercise in like. getting weird with it. remembering that u cannot judge ur creation by any possible bad faith interpretation of it. letting myself write the kind of wildly unhinged horny possessive devotion that eats the inside of my brain but ive never been able to put on the page bc of the Fear of like ohhh that would be sooo bad in real life. dude theyre. not real. idk im not good at that sort of thing the panopticon inside my mind is sometimes kind of crazy. but like yeah actually they do think the power dynamic is hot. yeah nick made jasper fake betraying him obviously here is this situation where jasper comes back to nick after his faked death and both of them are pretending not to know the betrayal wasn't real. its just roleplay 2 them. sorry to quote a line in this already extremely long answer but like "The only thing he wants to keep is right here at his side and hasn’t that been the point of all of this, the knife to his throat and the blood in his kiss and the slow simmer of barely leashed desire. Jasper has come to him like this, the traitor slinking his guilty way home, to show Nick the lengths to which he would go for him. To which he has always gone for him, giving up everything to play Nick’s triple agent, just what the Director ordered." is literally the thesis statement of the whole thing. Anyway

also its the kind of fic where every line is trying to be The Line which...is a quirk of my writing style that comes out every now and then that im usually (for good reason tbh) always trying to cut back on. but this...Needed It. sometimes the prose DOES need to be purple. and i had fun. it was really fun dude lol i had a great time

a bit too late bc that happens to be the only wip that i actually managed to finish and upload 😭😭😭 (if u havent read it but know me already from one of my pseuds, the fic is uploaded on my main pseud <3)

but !! i'm still willing to babble abt it since i'd say that it's the fic that i've really put the most braincells of mine into so far LMFAO

basically it's "what if i put my blorbos into that one popular multiverse movie about a bagel?", the premise has been rotating in my head for a while now, even when i was actively writing in my previous fandom (im still planning on continuing there!! like the 3rd chapter of the l********* au is near completion before the tides of brainrot decided to drown me asdfadsd). but for some reason i didnt feel like those two would fit in that kind of scenario?? or at least, i couldnt find a plot that would make sense for them. so the idea got put in the back burner.

but then @bunny-banana sent a few tweets in our discord server and was like "makes me think of an eeaa0 au" and i went OwO (ceci if u want me to set the fic as a gift to u, i would gladly do so 🥺)

with some funky au ideas already brewing but dont have energy to research/worldbuild, i decided to shove all of them into a single thing.

the fic parallels and references a lot of events in the movie it's based on, and a lot of underlying questions can be answered (like, "why did this character decide to sacrifice themselves instead of agreeing to stay?" or "this is a direct callback to an iconic line but why does it seem off?") if u've watched the movie kinda like a little extra treat for the people who Know. but it also has its own stuff separate from the movie. i didnt use the bagel/googly eye duality because the characters are White and it wont make sense to center it in a uniquely asian philosophy. instead i used cloth/thread to tie it all up (hehe) and reading that the costumes incorporated traditional lace just sealed the deal for me

8. What project(s) are you currently working on?

i kinda bounce between each of my established wip's without much reason, so sort of all of them? rn happily drown is taking up most of my brainspace, but i'm also havin a time adding bits & pieces to nepotism = profit & the g1deon-centric fic from the same poll (whose wip title is sort of up in the air, bc both options are way too long but im unfortunately attached.) (actually, all of my other wip titles are way too long. they're all jokes is why)

(the options for the wip title are "g- reviews ur apocalypse playlist" or "music to be devoured by an RB to", which tells you everything you need to know hshshsjhsjsh)

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

ooh that's tough...after a brief bracket fight in my brain, i think it would have to be bad, bad news bc i feel that it's batshit enough to be interesting in a visual medium lol. especially harrow's impromptu meeting w/ g1deon & the ways you could toy w/ her conflating gideon & the body

Gideon raises an eyebrow, “Ianthe, I think that if a human sized blender was ever presented to you, I would be the first person you’d consider putting in it.” Ianthe makes a considering face. “Maybe you’d be the second,” she allows, “Babs would be first.” “Babs would be first,” Corona agrees immediately, sidling up beside Gideon in order to link their arms and lean into her for support. “I invited you,” she deftly changes the subject, “Ianthe’s just grumpy because the person she invited can’t make it.” “Yowch,” Gideon winces, mildly sympathetic, “your date to your dads funeral ghosted you?” “So to speak,” Ianthe grinds out, and then takes a long drag from her cigarette.
