Okay so I have seen people list st:tos episodes by both airing and production order, BUT I haven't seen anybody mention that technically, most (if not all) episodes have an in-universe chronological order (Stardate). I have some opinions on which way is better to assign continiuity to the series.

Airing order. Best one to me, as the series was meant to be viewed in that order, even in it's strongly episodic nature.

Stardate. This one is so little talked about. To my knowledge, in TOS star dates weren't really thought out - just a science-fiction gimmic. In TNG, Stardates were assigned actual meaning. Additionally, there is an overlap between two episodes (source). That just means that in TOS they weren't important, and are like. A really obnoxious way of ordering episodes chronologicaly .

Production order. The worst one imo, as it really does not reflect the way this series was meant to be viewed, both in canon and from said production perspective. I can tell you scripts for TV are shoot in the most convinient way possible for all parties involved (like, if they have an actor available, they will shoot scenes with them for multiple episodes etc.). The worst one of all these

so I'm Canadian and I grew up ALWAYS taking my shoes off in the house. I watch a lot of American TV though and they almost never take their shoes off in the house, which for years I thought was just for convenience when filming, but I've learned that apparently some people actually do leave their shoes on???
