imo everyone who insists that saikis life was perfect and he was a spoiled brat complaining about nothing are just purposefully ignoring and misinterpreting the whole manga simply because they like other characters better and want to make up scenarios to make their fav seem like a precious little victim in every situation

its hard to explain but i see it happen a lot with specifically people who have dedicated accounts for other characters and constantly misattribute every issue to "saikis such a baby, my character has it way worse!" "saiki hurt my babys feelings once so i hate him!" "saikis such a spoiled brat, my baby has a way shittier life and never complains about it!" "saiki hurt my poor precious fav once so hes an abusive monster!"

and said "shittier life" that they "never complain" about is either the persons headcanons (literally made up) or... the character DOES complain about it and the person takes those words at FACE VALUE but ignores everything else, including things that actually HAPPEN right in front of our eyes

sorry to be a bit of a hater but i do wish youtubers weren't so scared of making their videos just like, "reviews", whys everything gotta be a "video essay" all the time. every day my recommendations are filled with 40 minute videos titled "_____: An Underrated Masterpiece" where the first like five minutes are reading the wikipedia definition of "masterpiece" in a somber voice with dramatic themed text on screen. please just tell me how good or bad you think something is and use the rest of the runtime to explain why. you dont need to put on all these airs

i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies

As lovely as that video was (and it was truly genuinely heartfelt and well deserved praise), it makes me think of Daniel doing that post race recap video after Singapore. He did that for the fans and for the vcarb employees who were innocent in all of it and he felt deserved that piece of him. He did this for Max because Max is Max and for Daniel, that matters most. But God if he doesn’t just keep giving away pieces of himself despite everything that’s happened because that's the type of person he is... And because what’s another strip of flesh when you’ve already been flayed alive?

Is this a safe space to say that the reason why Ai is becoming so prevalent in fanfom spaces is because fandom has lost a lot of its decorum, and a lot of unspoken rules are no longer being abided by. Like a lot of people who wouldn’t have used Ai, saw how people have been openly critical of works like choices and all the young dudes, and probably came to the conclusion that, I’m not gonna get paid for this work, and they are still gonna be insanely critical of me, so why not? This isn’t about the mischief managed thing, but that controversy got me really thinking about why is Ai getting used at all, and I realized is because no one is allowed to just have fun with this any more.

it's the capitalisation of fandom. and i mean capitalisation in a broader sense, not just money wise but followers, influence, power,,, and fanfilms have always fed into this

it's that people care more about their traction than their joy, or what they create, or even how it affects others. the same way ai starts getting used in the wider world because people care more about quantity and "efficiency" than quality.

and i'm getting ATTACKED for saying that it was wrong to say that they were leaving it until after the film was released to address it,,,

idk man. it's one thing after another and it's not even marauders fandom specific, fandom spaces are just crumbling.
