im forever gonna think about how inagaki made senku and gen’s birthdays inverse of each other because like. senku’s bday (1/4) was decided from the moment he was created and it’s an important plot point in how it plays out with the ishigami village. HOWEVER. the date that senku wakes up (4/1) was decided from the beginning and gen coming across the etching in the tree was inevitable, but we don’t know gen’s birthday (4/1) until several arcs after that moment in the observatory. we learn senku woke up on gen’s birthday in a posthumous bonus q&a but i wonder if inagaki decided that before and it influenced gen’s actions leading up to senku’s birthday, or he’s just a sick and twisted individual who wanted to bait people. i think it’s everything at once bc all the characters no matter their role are thoughtfully made. the fact that they’re coincidentally inverse is such a gen thing to overthink but the meaning within the narrative is far more complex and yet so understated. it makes my head spin

senku commits to several ways to gaining people’s trust, mostly inventing things to hopefully sway people in his favor, or oppositely, threaten them to force their hand. he takes a CRAZY gamble on gen. gen reciprocating was equally a crazy gamble but it locks them in forever. i could even argue that it was more important for gen to gain senku's trust.

Cause yknow if she’s wrong then people are going to use that as evidence that asexuality is a phase as if people looking for an excuse to dismiss other people’s identities would just not exist if we all perfectly performed our fucking labels like they’re the audience that decides if our fucking rock opera gets to hit broadway. Like there’s a fucking quota on how many times a person can be wrong about a label. I’m bisexual!! And if I’d just allowed myself to think that it’d be okay if I was wrong about being bisexual, or that it was okay if it wasn’t permanent, then I would’ve taken the first step to realizing I was actually a long term bisexual all the sooner.  There isn’t a fucking deadline for figuring out the perfect label for yourself, there isn’t a fucking surety purity test at the door. God, and all these trans kids and people agonizing about if they’re really trans or if they’re just faking it, as if that’s important when transitioning makes them happier!
