All right, pile one, welcome to your reading! You will strike your future spouse as a complex individual from the very first moment. You may have seemed a bit guarded and reserved, which made them immediately think “💡I need to see what’s past that guard”. Aw cute lol. Some of you have a femme fatale thing going on and some of you are incredibly private or reserved, so you give off this mysterious vibe to your FS. The energy is as if you were carrying a heavy emotional burden from your past experiences on your shoulder, which makes you seem hesitant to open up to someone new.

This is only for some of you, but I’m also seeing kids? So you may be a parent or work with kids often. Teenagers/middle school age, specifically. They will also notice that you are very clear and precise in the way you communicate, and you seemingly have a sharp mind and quick wit about you. You may talk with your hands a lot too. They can tell that you’re someone who values honesty and straightforwardness above all else, and you are not someone who would suffer fools gladly. Get it, boo! Show those suckers what you’re made of 😉 But there was also something very innocent and curious about you under the surface that they are going to be intrigued by. Despite your guarded nature and no-nonsense attitude…you still seemed eager to learn and grow. They like that you may be open to new experiences and perspectives. You may have even called them out playfully or wasn’t afraid to stand up to them when they said something out of pocket. They aren’t typically used to receiving that energy so you made them go a bit gaga (even turned on for some of you lol) with this display of power.

Im sensing that, for a lot of you at least, you guys may really gravitate towards each other when you first meet because it seems like they were able to get to know you better on a deeper level right off the bat. They see that your past experiences have indeed left a deep mark on you and that you may be struggling to move past them. You may even bring up an ex or family issues during your conversation? But They also see that you had the strength and resilience to face your pain head-on and work towards healing and growth. They have/had no doubt that you have the intelligence and determination to make progress. They were inspired by your willingness to learn and explore new ways of thinking. You inspire them to become a better version of themselves. They may be going through some personal issues of their own at the time and the way you tackle issues may differ from they way they would usually do it. But they prefer your outlook on life so they may get inspired to take a page out of your playbook.

By the end of your meeting, they were left with a deep respect for this complex and multifaceted individual standing before them. You may have had a guarded and stand offish first impression, but they could see that beneath the surface was a person with a strong will, an open mind, and the courage to face your past and move towards a brighter future….and they would do anything in their power to be apart of it. Hey pile two, thanks for joining! Upon first meeting, you left a deep impression on your future spouse. To them, you seem to have an air of wealth and luxury about you. You may be dressed in your finest clothes or rockin your most expensive jewelry. Lmaooo I just heard “they’re bangin!” Sooo they’re really going to like your body, pile 2! 😂 can't get enough of it, apparently! That night/day, you will just all around be dressed to the nines and that will catch your FS’s attention right away. They may have noticed you right away, but it’s going to take them a little time to approach you. So as they continue to examine you from afar, they could sense something underneath all of the pretty wrapping paper. They feel a sense of possessiveness emanating from you. Like you’re holding on too tightly to your material possessions. It’s like…though you’re dressed to kill, they catch on to your insecurities beneath the surface. They’re trying to get familiar with your poker tells, basically.

Oop. Ok….Your FS may think that you might be having an identity crisis. Not necessarily in a negative way (although it might be for some of you who chose this pile), but it is apparent to them. You may be the type of person that struggles with their decision-making abilities. You may even seem lost and unsure of yourself, even though you’re dressed confidently. Like you don’t really belong in that setting, but you’re trying to fake it until you make it for whatever reason. This lack of clarity may also hinder you from making better choices for yourself. What I’m getting is like a nightclub, bar, or busy restaurant setting (take what resonates). You may have a lot of suitors physically surrounding you before your FS gets to you, so they’re still watching you from afar. They may see someone flirting with you and you’re eating up the attention and they’re just thinking to themselves… “really? You’re impressed by *that*?” Lmao your future spouse cracks me up. They’re a cerebral person, that’s for sure. They take in their surroundings before doing anything.

To them, it seems as though you are trying to use your wealth or material possessions to fill a void within yourself. Your future spouse feels like you’re trying to find emotional fulfillment in all the wrong places. They may also think you may be hard to satisfy or please, but are still not entirely sure what you really want. They see that you are seeking happiness but are met with fleeting moments instead and may even have lost touch with your emotional well-being. But they’re thinking that you’re knock out gorgeous, so why are you so sad?

Overall, their first impression of you is that you are struggling to find true happiness and emotional fulfillment in your life. While you may have amassed great wealth, luxury, and success ( whatever that means to you), you still seem to be missing something important in your day to day. They may have a fleeting thought of “ could it be me that’s missing from this equation?” Aww cute 🥰 hope you enjoyed your reading, pile 2!

Hello pile 3, ready for your reading? Your future spouse’s first impression of you would be one of complexity and depth. They would see in you someone who is highly guarded and may be struggling with a fear of financial insecurity. You may be going through some difficulty at the time of meeting your future spouse and you may wear your worry on your face. For some of you, they felt your energy before they laid eyes on you. You may have been in a whirlwind of panic or frustration, maybe even tripping over yourself a bit, and they picked up on it before you even entered the room. hellooooo fools paradise team:3c i am STILL stuck on the valentines day post LOL & so im curious: what would the romanceables valentines day plans with the MC be? or similarly/alternatively what would their ideal date be in general? 

“Darling, it’s already nine! While I adore your resting face, I’d prefer to be the very first thing your bright eyes happen upon this special morning.”

Ever the romantic, Mona takes Valentine’s to its extreme. Before you’ve even awoken, she’s already matched your outfits for the day, intent for there to be splashes of pink, white, and red adorning you both from head to toe. Breakfast in bed is a must, and though you fear for your tastebuds - she follows the recipe. Flowers, chocolates, cards, gifts - anything you can imagine awaits you once you finally rise from your cell of slumber. After all, this is your perfect day and Mona’s already planned dinner and a murder party for you to solve together as you dine. In the evening, after you’ve had your fill, you’ll attend a couple’s painting class. Though she could instruct herself, she follows protocol, delighting in the shared drinks you two split and the paint spills you mark each other with.

“Oh…this? I painted it because it’s your favorite animal…right?”

Starting with a nice long walk around the park with his partner is an ideal start for Noel. Valentine’s isn’t about grand gestures, or trying to outdo one another. It’s about remembering the pleasure of each other’s comfort that tethered you two to begin with. However, something handmade from him to you isn’t off the table. The day will pass without hurry, the two of you spending hours at a local craft cafe, sampling treats and putting together trinkets for one another. When your crafts come to a close, you’ll pack up and pick-up some takeout that you’ll share while cuddling on the couch back home.

Valentine’s, being a commercial holiday, is nothing more than an obvious capitalist scheme to Mary. So, why not indulge in the shopping fever to win over each other’s favor? Mary corrals you into an hour long shopping spree to start, the two of you picking out gifts secretly to surprise each other with later in the evening. Along the way, she’ll demand a fashion show…or a few, the two of you parading down the aisles in glitzy and gaudy outfits meant to shock any who pass your path. When the two of you are eventually kicked out, the two of you will rush home to find that Mary has planned an indoor picnic just for you. The rest of the night passes quickly as you feed each other treats, and take turns thinking about what kind of future you’d like to build together.

“Woah…almost feels like they based that riddle on us! Isn’t that strange?”

Vein + Valentine’s = flirtatious fun! There’s no better way to prove the strength of your relationship than putting it to the test in an Escape Room challenge Vein booked for the two of you. Expecting the space cowboy theme to come to a natural conclusion, you’re surprised that some of the clues needed to find the final prize involve riddles centered around your relationship and inside jokes. Though you press Vein, her lips are sealed. That is, until you find the final prize: a commissioned portrait of the two of you in your favorite game. To celebrate your victory thereafter, Vein takes you to her favorite local pizza joint. After all, you’ll need the energy for the arcade tonight. It’ll be an all out race to see who can win the grandest prize for the other.

“C’mon, sway with me.”

Valentine’s is guaranteed to be a late start for the two of you - and quite honestly you’d be lucky if Tempest opened his eyes before noon. But whenever he should manage to rise and conquer the day, Tempest is determined take you to a concert of your favorite artist that night. But if the date line-up isn’t in the cards, you can be damn sure he aims to surprise you good with the tickets at the dinner table. The dinner itself is relaxed, dim lit with a band in the back where you two can shoot the can. But when you’ve both had enough, you’ll stroll around the city, touring your favorite haunts, ending up at a pub at the end of the night, tipsy dancing to the songs playing through the speaker as you play pool and darts.

“Must we leave our sheets with such haste? I am but the moon, unready to separate from the sun who warms it.”

The virtues of Valentine’s are not lost on Sorin, nor the reason the holiday itself was created. But Sorin doesn’t yield to the standard expectations of the consumerism. There isn’t any need for showiness, time spent in your company is satisfying enough. The day will be spent indoor with activities Sorin has already prepared for the two of you. Cooking together, dancing to your shared songs, and cracking open a candle painting kit are just snippets of all they have planned for the two of you. The night ends, however, with the most elaborate surprise of all — a scavenger hunt, You search the halls of your hall, following the train of notes left by your love. When you finally reach the end, you happen upon a box filled to the brim with poems and other writings Sorin has penned to you.

MORGAN HEADCANON POST!!!

so i have posted my elaborate “the robins are separate entities and siblings” headcanons and i think i’ve said too many damn times that i wanna extend a similar headcanon post for morgan and now it is TIME!!

the girl one

robin’s adopted daughter. parents died after grima goes bananas and robin decided to take her under his wing. i like to think robin held out a little longer than the rest of the shepherds once the apocalypse started so he was able to teach morgan what he knew. plus she self taught herself magic and tactics using his notes even when he’s dead

can be blunt, hates being the butt of the joke, but has a pretty dry and witty sense of humor. sometimes clashes with lucina’s inability to pick up on jokes

since she was a kid when grima goes bad, she is the oldest among the second gen. older than lucina by a few years perhaps

has a close sisterly relationship with lucina. she and lucina sort of reflect robin and chrom’s relationship in the group, with the exalted leader having a wise magic man by their side. given the situation in their family tree (though morgan is adopted, she is still lucina’s cousin) i’d refrain from defining it as anything romantic (besides i hc lucina to be aroace anyway. queerplatonic relationship, perchance)

since morgan was only able to cross paths with lucina and the rest of the second-gen shepherds through her adoption from robin, it is unlikely that she will meet lucina in the good future or at least have the same very close relationship with lucina since she’ll be raised by her bio parents. (one may argue that none of the second-gen shepherds will meet or form a close band without the backdrop of acopalyptic bonding in the good timeline, but the point is that morgan will live a significantly different upbringing if the grima threat is taken care of). lucina sometimes worries about this possibility, but morgan’s conviction to change the future for the better is stronger than this uncertainty. this conviction was also probably inspired by lucina’s drive to change fate

ngl this is all i have unfortunately 😭 but i do wanna work with her more, especially her relationship with lucina

the boy one

chrom and reflect (girl robin)’s son from… a different future. he does not hail from the same doomed timeline as lucina and the rest of the kiddos. instead, he’s from a timeline where grima was vanquished with the falchion (keeping reflect/the vessel alive). he was born shortly after the war ended (though in actuality he’s born after chrom and friends leave smash bros but that’s a whole other can of worms)

the youngest of the future kids

due to his unawareness of the apocalyptic future and grima in general, he has a much more jovial attitude compared to the rest of the kids

brash and a bit of a jock

has a little bit of aptitude in magic from his mom, but he has no interest in actually touching a book

lucina (and the rest of the kids) were confused about this guy’s existence and why he was sent to the past but they embrace him as one of their own anyway (he still doesn’t really know what’s going on)

tbh i have even less going on with him, but i think exploring the silly sibling dynamic he’ll have with lucina should be fun in future projects

his design is kinda messy atm, i do not know if ill fully settle on the one here idk

OH and lastly: his mark of the exalt has not surfaced yet at his age, but i think it’ll appear on either the back of his right hand (like the defile brand) or on his upper back (jojo reference). or maybe even in his right eye like inigo (but that sorta feels like his thing so i don’t wanna rip it off lmao)

I would love to try printing my own design on a shirt like you did! Could you please possibly make a guide on how you did it?

absolutely i can!! this is gonna get a bit long so im gonna put the full tutorial under a read more LOL

ALSO disclaimer: i’m making this tutorial with the assumption that whoever is reading it already kinda knows the basics of relief printing! BUT if anyone would like me to post a more basic tutorial about that, i would be happy to <3

1. the block!! i used the Inovart Eco Karve Printing Plates (very similar to the Speedball Speedy Carve Blocks, just a bit cheaper). but you can use linoleum, wood, etc. this was my first time ever printing on fabric and since it turned out so well i’ll probably stick to using this type of block in the future LOL but linoleum and wood do work! it mostly depends on personal preference and budget

2. i highly recommend doing a test print! both to prime the block a bit and to see if there’s any spots you missed (you can see a lot of chatter on the first test print that i got rid of)

3. the ink! i used the Speedball Fabric and Paper ink. it’s the only one i’ve tried for fabric, but i do recommend the speedball brand in general! whatever ink you use, make sure it’s for block printing, for fabric, and read the instructions

when getting your ink, i found that i ended up needing a bit more ink than i do printing on paper

you can either ink your print now or on step 5 if you’re worried about it drying out

4. prepare your shirt! try to get a shirt with the least amount of texture possible for the best results (not knitted, ribbed, etc). get yourself some cardboard to put in the shirt while you print, it’s supposed to be mainly to keep ink from bleeding but i feel like it also gives a better surface to print on

5. layersssss! shirt down first, flatten out where you want to print. then the block, and if you’re using a press, then the felt thing (it probably has a name)

usually printing on paper the block is laid down and the paper on top of it, fabric is the opposite!

6. printing! so for this i am obviously using a press (the Woodzilla Hand Press, highly recommend if you’re really getting into printmaking and have the money!!) if you’re using the press, after putting the top down, tuck the shirt under the lever. otherwise it’ll make marks in the shirt when you press down that will probably go away, but better safe than sorry

if you don’t have a press, no worries!! it just takes a bit more time and patience. use an old rolling pin or put a giant book on top and press! the bigger the print, the harder it is to print consistently. do your best to add enough pressure and make it even. even with the press, i usually put all my body weight into it

whatever method you’re using, use ALL YOUR MIGHT to print it!!!! too much pressure is better than not enough imo

7. TADA!! a (hopefully) perfect print!! if it’s not, don’t panic! i can’t attest for other brands, but ive been able to clean the ink out of misprinted shirts and print on them again. i washed them out in the sink to get as much ink out as possible (i used cold water, but to be so honest i have no idea if hot or cold water would work better). then use some sort of stain remover and just fucking. douse it. i used a Shout! spray for this. let it sit for however long the instructions say, wash it, and it should come out! it even worked for a light pink shirt for me, i can’t say for sure if it would work with white though

and that’s my guide!! hopefully i explained everything alright and people find it helpful <3 i’m happy to answer any other questions anyone might have! i am also pretty new to this though, so there is definitely some stuff i don’t know lol

edit: if anyone saw a post where i was being all depressed because i lost the post i was working on. turns out tumblr did post it but my sleep deprived brain didnt think to check my posts !??! thats my bad

i make poor decisions when its late and i really shouldnt be playing gacha games because i get more impulsive then i usually am but also outside of 'i really want halloween riddle' i and someone else were praying for each others pulls (we both wanted riddle) and were gonna stay up until it did the daily reset to immediately start pulling so here i am (if you've seen my other posts you should know that it was also like this in HSR that I pulled Jade even though I didn't have an erudition built and didnt really want her but tired me thought ..what if i pulled and then i got her and then i didnt have pulls for jiaoqiu)

Result is, Halloween Rook (30 pulls) Halloween Riddle (60 pulls) and then since I was already there I decided to pull until 100 where I got Halloween Silver (100 pulls) its a good haul👍 but also rip all my pull savings. but also now i have all the cards i ever wanted (riddle as a fav and silver cause when i first started and looked at everyones card art his halloween one was really pretty) so like. this is good with me 🤷

anyway the only card remaining on my like. wish list(???) i guess is like. next main story card. erRr JP SpoiLeRS but Sebek Armor of Eternal Night or something like that. cause General Lilia duos with Sebek. but honestly not that big a deal sometimes i find dorm uniform sebek's as peoples support card

but thats less a want want and more i want him to make my cards strong instead of i just want to pull them i probably wont use them but like i want them (i probably will use them in the future but i need to build my main team first 💀)

in any case i do like sebek but also idk man

like. i set a bunch of goals of stuff i really wanted to do as a twst player when first starting which was really a bunch of ideals (like it didnt really seem possible and i figured id have to settle for less?) but like

i wanted halloween riddle and silver general lilia tropical wear riddle i got all of them

also i wanted to get every riddle card cause ppl were doing it for the favorites and i really liked riddle. so i got his birthday bloom. i do NOT have his other birthday cards because ooh boy i do not have the funds for that im perfectly content with my birthday bloom, one ssr at a time please. but so im content with that, still marking it was ok since tbh i dont really expect to get them all since i usually play f2p and also even i got all of them wtf do i do with them ???? but so check anyways for birthday bloom. but also besides that i literally got him in the first ten pull TWICE so like. i feel like that should count ?? cause that was stupid crazy luck 😭

and i wanted two dorm uniform cards who duo'd off of each other so i could have like two of them in one turn and it does the satisfying double duo thing when it switches between them attacking

which i can do. because i got dorm riddle when i first started, and i got dorm azul a bit ago who im working on getting the books for. so i can do that too.

and then i also wanted to be the kind of player who had a bunch of strong cards built that i could switch between a bunch of them for battles. which i do i just need to build them.

so its like.

Thought about a line that i am certain every single grantaire x enjolras fic writer has thought of. And yet i will include it. Because it bangs. It even connects back to valjean’s “i am a man, no worse than any man” and javert’s YOU WILL STILL ANSWER TO JAVERT (THE LAW, GOD!!!!). the self-symbolism vs self-humanizing, all that buttery literal and meta goodness 🤌🤌🤌

heres what ive been thinking of. i want to write a post-canon, canon divergence fic (mostly based on the musical because ive only read a little of the book so far) with NO historical accuracy, i just want to put these two guys in a situation. ok so the au is, what if enjolras and grantaire are the only ones to survive the barricade massacre and theyre sentenced several years hard labor for treason. this is almost nonexistent on ao3 but maybe it’s somewhere on livejournal or wattpad or ff.net or something. so far it’s my personal little idea. in my head, it is so disrespectful of the victims of labor camps and prisons. im interested in the aesthetics of physical labor, the romanticization of the male form… the sweat and tire and exertion and torture… the total breakdown of a self when being used as a machine. putting such Stark Symbols in this setting is so FASCINATING to me. it forces e and g out of their heads into their bodies — that loss of autonomy itself a violation. i want to see them fight to be human beings rather than fighting to be symbols. i feel the barricade is marked by a freedom that allows them to be larger than life… they dont have that freedom here. their fight now is to be men, rather than machines. i want to know how that feels. I want to know how it feels to once be a symbol, i want to know what identity they have without it. I want to know how they chase after these past identities. And i want to know who they are when isolated together, the only people who know who the other is because they are the only people who knew the before. I have a faint idea who enjolras is now, but i have no clue who grantaire is. i wonder if they each get a taste of the other’s medicine — enjolras given up, grantaire enflamed. or if surviving fuelled their previous stances. if being beaten by the system firsthand changes things… is there hope, is there a future?

the romantic relationship kinda goes back to the romanticization of pain lol. i dont know if either of these men ever allowed themselves to be happy. living day by day as people, trying to survive, i think creates an intense need for release. i think the environment also necessitates allyship and company more than ever. i havent thought about this part much, at least compared to the thematic meaning and possibilities. BUT i did think about a hyperdramatic romantic moment this morning while thinking about The Themes. this is what i was talking about with every fic probably having something like this (wouldnt know, havent read any). the moment goes something like:

Enjolras had been picked muscle by muscle, tendon to joint. He had never felt such weariness. “A man on his own can’t be a revolution.”

Grantaire knew that was not true. You were mine.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself

Since I have writer's block where my day job is concerned, I thought I would get the creative juices going by typing up an introduction to my account.

Full disclosure. I've had a Tumblr account for years. I've never used it for anything other than looking at the gorgeous artwork. I am not conversant in tags or the etiquette. Apologies if I make mistakes.

So why now? I recently became obsessed with a game I picked up at GameStop for the low, low price of $7. You guessed it. Dragon Age Inquisition. Another disclosure. I'm new to gaming.

My daughter was never into video games so we never bought a console. I had no idea what I was missing out on. Last year I bought a PS4. I tried a few games and settled on Skyrim and Mass Effect as favorites. All I really knew about Dragon Age was that BioWare made it and people that enjoyed Skyrim also enjoyed Dragon Age.

I loaded the game and instantly fell in love. I bought the books and looked into playing the first two games in the series. No luck as I don't have a gaming PC or Xbox and can't afford either right now. Maybe in the future.

I also instantly fell in love with Solas. I knew romances were an important part of BioWare's games so I looked up the love interests. I inadvertently got spoiled and knew who he was before I played. I was not planning to romance him at all.

I got through the tutorial and began making the NPC rounds in Haven. Since Solas had saved my Inky's life (elf mage) and seemed to know the most about the Mark, I started a conversation with him. Let's just say I squeaked out a very audible, "oh no," during that conversation. I was hooked and I knew it. He was so smart, so erudite, so confident, so witty and so handsome. i knew his voice actor was one of my favorite characters from Torchwood and that added to the appeal.

I tend to hyper focus so I set about learning everything there was to know about Solas - which is when I discovered how much a lot of people hated him. I got the whole betrayal, dooming the world aspect but not the dislike of his baseline personality. It wasn't until I read some posts on Tumblr that I got it. He codes as ND. Everything people say about him, people have said about me. It isn't true about me and I don't think it's true about him.

I'm in Solavellan Hell and I know it.

I don't really have anyone that shares my obsession with the game or Solas. Most people I know played the game a long time ago, never took Solas with them and have moved on to BG3.

So I'm on Tumblr enjoying everyone else's amazing artwork, stories and ramblings. I don't know how much of my own musings I will add to them. I generally don't like putting myself out there in cyberspace.

In case my blog wasn't obvious I Want To Write You a Song is one of my FAVORITE songs of 1D I think I would cry like a baby if I heard it at a wedding. But I also think I can only reserve it for my marriage to Harry (it's a song for us). My funeral is also just everyone going to be sitting there and listening to 1D and solo albums. It's how I want to be honored. I think I would spontaneously catch on fire if I heard one of those songs at a wedding--Black and White especially.

Taylor is so real for that--good for her. I've been listening to Big Jet Plane for the last twenty minutes or so! It's really sweet. Very love at first sight of them 👀 I think I could do something with it! 💕

my bf hasn't a CLUE that I'm a "writer." It's really hard to keep a straight face sometimes. I have to tell him things like I took a creative writing class in high school (I didn't) when I want to suggest ANYTHING to help. But honestly, I think he's a really good writer on his own. Prone to overthinking it. I usually just reference some of my favorite books and such. I would kms if he read one of my stories tbh. This is like a diary for me. I don't want anyone I know in my personal life to know about it 😂

I like to do NOTHING on my weekends. But other people don't feel that way I guess. Idk hahaha I'm just a little different I guess heheheheI just hit the bookstore myself! For once I didn't buy anything--a miracle really. But I do have some suggestions. I made this post when someone asked about book recs before. I stand by this list COMPLETELY. But I can add a few more as well!

Normal People by Sally Rooney -- the actual way the book is written is a little confusing tbh (no quotation marks during dialogue) but it really holds up to the show as well. Not sure if you've seen it but I would highly recommend both.

The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow -- a little long at times but I overall enjoyed it! Cool premise and I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships between the sisters and such.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey -- one of the hardest books I've ever read, but actually really good. The movie was pretty accurate to it as well if I recall correctly. It was pretty sad though so don't read it if you're having a good time.

That's all I really got right now. I probably have more to recommend but I've been bringing books I finish that I don't plan on rereading my work and leaving them for other people to take to clear room on my bookshelf. I also give the ones I DO want back to my sister to read so we have something to talk about hehehehe

P.S. it's a guilty pleasure of mine but I read this book My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick the MC's name is Sam and she falls in love with the boy next door and there is a LOT of drama as well but the falling in love part is... 👌 it's a YA and came out in like 2012 and I'm putting it here in the P.S. because it's been years since I've read it, but I've never read a book where my name was the MC's name. But I think about it a lot. It's in a box under my bed along with other favorite novels of mine from my YA adventures that I can't part with. (Also, a quick Google Search says you can't buy it in Barnes and Noble--at least not near me) but I wanted to recommend it anyway.

Visions i see while scrying and what they mean in my practice

Scrying is a very personal divination method that uses clairvoyance and visions to predict the future. Black mirror Scrying uses a black mirror to see visions by staring softly into the black void.

In my previous post about scrying i explained that there is no correspondence book or rules that tell you what visions mean, and you have to come up with your own meanings to the visions. This creates a very personal divination method thats specifically tailored to the user, similar to bone throwing or charm casting.

Id like to share what my divination looks like for me, and what certain visions mean in my practice, just for funsies.

1. A clear starry night sky with a treeline

This first one is the most interesting because i see it every single session, and its actually the background for all my other visions. Everything i see is up against this beautiful twinkling sky, almost as if my brain has created a specific mental space dedicated to seeing visions.

This clear starry night sky symbolizes dreams and hopes coming true, happiness, good fortune, relaxation, and achieving goals. In yes or no readings this is definitely a "yes, don't even worry about it" or a positive answer. The gif up top is similar to what i see. I actually painted it on a pumpkin last year:

2. The milkway

This represents having no limits to what i can achieve.

3. A tear

Sometimes the milkway is paired with a tear, or a rip, or it starts as a rip in time then turns into a milkyway. The tear represents forcibly breaking boundaries or barriers, in a positive light it means im not letting anything prevent me from achieving my goals.

4. A star

Now yes, i see stars in the starry night sky, but occasionally ill get a really bright flash in one star, this tells me i should consider the star by itself. The meaning i use is the same as the star tarot card: hope, rebuilding after destruction, keep moving forward, keep fighting, good things are coming, the fight is almost over. I saw this every time i asked about my health before being diagnosed and my long fight of undiagnosed pain ending. Right before being diagnosed i kept seeing the sun, or sunrays.

5. The sun

Also like tarot, symbolizes victory, Happiness, joy, and celebration.

6. The letter V

To me this means "hang in there" and if you're hanging by a thread just hold on a little longer.

7. The letter X

First time i saw it was right before being diagnosed. To me it represents the unkown, the ending of something, lower self, 'x marks the spot', associated with death and rebirth, change, and transition and "crossing of a threshold". I associate with big change, finding the answer or "treasure" and also other dimensions.

8. A seed

To me a seed represents potential, trust, hope, nourishment, cycles, time, and provision. It says "relax, you can't grow a garden in a day" and "trust the process"

9. Moss

Moss is something i see a lot when scrying with ketamine hallucinations and to me it means humility, transience and imperfection. Knowing there is beauty in imperfection.

10. Wings (feathery)

This always represents freedom to me.

11. Gentle rain

To me this represents the peace you feel once you've won a battle. Growth and rebirth, change, and signals the start of a new season that connected to happiness.

12. An archway

Represents strength, support, moving forward, new opportunities, doorway to the spirit world, new perspective, Initiation, shedding old ways, expansivness, and another path or way.

13. Shooting star

Represents wishes, achieving goals, and a push to work hard.

Thats the most common ones i see

Sometimes I'll see scenes unfold. Once i saw a woman kneeling infront of a rock in the woods praying for me, I've seen the hands of god reach out to me, eyes looking down at me, stuff like that. Pretty much everything i see has a positive undertone, i think it's because my brain knows i can get scared easily, so it only shows me things that aren't scary. Even so, every scrying session ive had has been incredibly accurate, specific, and has always been right. Its never like "uh idk what this means" like with tarot.

just finished the sun and the star and im posting this from my phone but i have to write my feelings down so spoilers of course:

first of all, i get it. this is not a fanfic, this is an actually rick riordan book and i can't expect it to go dark even though the story and the characters on it totally deserve to be put into a more mature light, so i'm trying to be more open about all this, but..... i'm really disappointed.

the writing was flat. the only reason i had any sort of sympathy to the characters and what they were going through was because i already knew them beforehand, but even then they felt like.... strangers. i think rick needs to stick with first person povs, because (and this also something i struggled with when reading the heroes of olympus series) he can't do multi character stories that well. i thought mark could help with this, but it honestly felt all over the place.

and i was expecting some character inconsistency throughout the book and messed up timelines once again, but it still surprised me how obvious those mistakes were. for example, we have nico being an advocate for change: people change, they learn from their past experiences and evolve throughout their lives and this is the whole reason why we are going into this quest! the whole reason why nyx is after me! and not even a couple of chapters later he finds out one of the giants did just that and found love and acceptance and he just flat out refuses to accept this. uhm, what? will has to remind him he's all about change? nico: oh yeah! my bad! forgot we were doing that

( see: chapter 19: ‘You see the trogs,’ said Screech-Bling. ‘You see Bob the Titan.’ Will smiled and squeezed his hand. ‘Nyx hates what you represent – change.’ / and then, chapter 22: "Nico scoffed. ‘You didn’t meet Geryon. You don’t know what he’s like.’ ‘Was like,’ said Menoetes. ‘Was. Because now you don’t know what he is like.’ Nico was left speechless. ‘Maybe we should give him a chance,’ said Will. ‘We both know people who were once terrible and then turned things around.' )

and don't get me started of the morals on this book. we get it, it's a book for middle schoolers, but you don't have to state the message of it every single chapter for it to be obvious. we get it, this is about changing and owning up the past but trying to be better in the future. not everything is black and white. okay. oh, ur gonna mention it again? oh, ur gonna get a goddess to spell it out for no reason at all? okay.

and god.......... the whole solangelo situation, i'm so SAD. i love them together, i adore them. but those stories about how they got together........ nico somehow deciding he was gonna tell the entire camp he was gay........ will kissing him for the first time just when he was grieving jason after he died (why. why would any of them think this was okay. WHY)........ i know these situations "make sense" and are explained in the book, but i don't like them. i don't. and i refuse to acknowledge them.

well, no. i'm actually going to acknowledge the whole coming out scene and how the story treats the whole thing. (disclaimer: not every queer person has to agree on this, we all have different experiences and that's fine, this is just my opinion on the matter) i hated how it felt like they were using nico's character as this big pamphlet advertising the "gay is okay!". i know his sexuality is a Big part of his character, and he is the first gay character in the pjo universe, but why did it feel he was also the first queer demigod at the camp? why did it have to be a big deal? i think the whole scene about juniper messing it up and him "choosing" to ask will out and also come out to the entire camp at the same time was..... unnecessary. i didn't need him to say he was gay in front of the entire greek camp, he can be used as an inspiring story for any other demigod just choosing to hold will's hand at dinner.

(and is...... a greek camp...... i can understand internalized homophobia on nico bc of his upbringing, and also anyone can have it no matter their experiences, but..... a greek camp..... and a public coming out scene after the whole thing with cupid.......)

(side note: not even one mention of patroclus and achilles. NOT EVEN ONCE.)

and i think what really sealed the deal for me was hazel. well. THE LACK OF HER. does nico remember he has a sister? does mark knows he has a sister? does rick???????? me, throughout the book: oh so this is the chapter where i get some hazel and nico crumbs! no? okay so the next one! oh, still no mention of her? so the next chapt-

she's mentioned 6 times. 6 times. and only once he's allowed to actually think about her. i hated it. and it was worse with reyna.

(the fact nico thought about annabeth and percy AND JASON? (WHO HE WASNT CLOSE WITH AT THE MOMENT) WHEN HE WAS GOING THROUGH TARTARUS ALONE? BUT DIDN'T THINK ABOUT HAZEL? HELLO?)

and even thought the message of the book is about how light and darkness can coexist within one self (as we are... repeatedly told..... all over again...), it still rubs me the wrong way how, at the end, darkness is still portrayed as something.... bad.... that u have to live with. like will says "‘But now I know that it’s not about conquering, or vanquishing, or any of that kind of hero talk. Sometimes it’s better to learn to live with the darkness.’" uhmmmmmmmmmmmm

all that being said, it was a..... fun book. not life changing and I'm definitely ignoring its existence, but the plot was entertaining enough and i did cry when bianca, maria and hades showed up because i adore the di angelo family. also will has powers! that's cool! i guess!

oh, and nico's little demons/children/whatever they are..... cute. in my head they are like those dust bunnies from ghibli.

Chapter XI

Here we go again. Sadly I have finally come to the conclusion of this series. First I'd like to say thank you so much for all the work that you put into this series. I'm sorry for all the hate that you had to go through but I really feel like they were just jealous 😂.

Oh boy right from the start we're already giving angst. It's a dream isn't it? I'm gonna cry before this chapter is even over. Nope. Don't do this to me.

Gojo you've done enough. Stop thinking about yourself for just a minute and where your relationship is going. It's done. You did this. This is your fault. And nothing that you can say or do will ever make things right.

"Your hand reached to the exposed skin on your side to trace the tattoos that held more meaning now than they did before you got it. A permanent mark for all that you went through." YOU DID THE THING. THE TITLE.

“The last butterfly is your life that went away—your baby angel." You're really doing everything to make me cry with this final chapter. I was so mad just a second ago. But now I'm in tears.

I'm glad to see y/n's growth with this last chapter. She's not letting everything that she's gone through stop her from hoping and I think that's really beautiful. Especially since she used to engage in self destructive habits in the past when she was going through something. That's a really uplifting message to leave off with.

And I loved that imagery of that moment being like the last page of a book. It truly is good and the bad memories that makes us the who we are.

Wow I can't believe it's over. This all started back in June of 2022 but it doesn't feel like all that time has passed. I have so many words for this story and even the paragraphs upon paragraphs still don't emphasize everything that I felt while reading. But oh well. I wish you the best on your future writing endeavors and if you ever start a new series on the JJK fandom feel free to tag me. But thank you again for this nerve wrecking amazing story.

Thinking abt how satoru's probably gonna blame himself for everything even after yn's last goodbye to him breaks my heart. i just realized how fitting the title is bc there's no way that they'd forget abt everything. and the tattoo !! gosh, i remember how everything went down the drain again after that tattoo incident :')) i think yn needed to experience that, to find her will to live for herself. considering that she was neglected as a child, the short motherhood made her realize that she could be more than what she is and that is by being what she once needed. i just reread the epilogue and realized that i feel so sad now, i miss the days of posting new chapters every week😭 and pulling all nighters bc i like details LMAO anyways, im truly grateful for your support for the series and for me, for staying and waiting til the ending even if it took months (im truly sorry abt that😥) i can't wait to give all my time to writing again once i get a vacation. i'll probably write short ones here and there for now but i don't think i can commit to a full series with this schedule 😭 again, i really appreciate you and everyone who supported me throughout this series. please take care, and stay healthy and safe always <33 all the love~!!

i nearly dropped dead when i saw this ask LETS GOOOOOOO!

since i have like, a lot of ocs, i'll just talk about my comfort ocs/ the ones im currently obessing over

first we have UX (blue gem) and Faith (purple gem) they're both acutally used to be one god but got spilt into two demi gods and they're both perfectly happy this way though they have no memory of the god they use to be.

UX tends to be the more reckless one but she does care about everyone close to her, she just doesn't think much first. her powers are fire, crystals and shapeshifting, she also has a photogentic memory that she considers a curse. her temper can also sometimes gets the better of her that she'll explode into flames

Faith is very much UX's opppsite, quiet, resevred, smart, he likes spending time reading and staying inside, his powers are electricity, stone, he can shapeshift like UX but he can never figure it out, his memory is of a slice of bread-- his head is empty, sometimes he just forgets he lives with UX, he also has the power to see into the future…but due to his memeroy issues he'll forget what he saw

now for my undertale ocs, Eraz, calcite and Tictoc! together they make up a team called the 'Snooze Squad' (think of them as a bootleg star sanses)

Eraz is the 'leader' of the group, though they prefer to laze around and not do their job, of course they deeply care about their teammate and will throw themsevles into battle if trouble rises. they also like spicy food and spicy sauces, Eraz is not a sans they just stole the face off a Sans (they 'promise' to give it back). Also they're a huge book/lore nerd, ask them about AUs and books and you'll be stuck in a 4 hour ramble

Calcite is a good boy, not very smart but his heart is in the right place, he's a glitch corrupted by negative magic but that doesn't seem to stop him from being a bundle of joy, he likes to eat chalk (purple colored ones are his favorite) Calcite is a sans though no one really knows what type though due to the fact that he wears a scarf some think he's some form of a swap sans, the tear marks on his cheeks can change depending on his mood (like hearts, stars or frowny faces)

Tic Toc doesn't really know where they came from since his AU was destroyed beyond repair and he was left to rot there, he's not a sans but a ghost with a robot host (like mettaton), he was the first one to be found by Eraz and since then he's been loyal to them…even if he disproves their laziness

so heres my basics of a kid loki animated marvel treatment

first off: pg-13 minimum. this is more towards the ultimate avengers/hulk vs. movies than like, thor: tales of asgard. also: NARRATED. narrated in old-ish poem-ish writing the way everything is in the comics.

second off: to make sure everyone knows that this is separate from the mcu, we start with classiclokis death. in order for us not to get bogged down in comic book details, we're making up loki dying when surtur tried to invade asgard. that didnt happen in the comics, but we really dont have the time to get into all of that (im trying to adapt journey into mystery 622 -- 645 in one movie)

before the funeral is where we put in the introductory seven magpies bit, up to ikol exploding in the library. this part is more watercolor-y than the rest, and we get a flash of green in the seventh magpie's eye for foreshadowing. then we flash back to:

funeral scene for loki: hes so fucking dead. his body is burning. hes dying so much. thor is like the only one even a little sad about this, including thor.

next: thor is doing what he always does when hes depressed: wandering around midgard being a hazard to air tower control. he sees a kid doing 3-card monte or something in paris who looks like loki, we get the classic eyes narrowed + shadow zoom "loki?" shot. THUNDERSTORM. tourists clear out, kid is cleaning up when thor goes in about one quarter cocked as usual.

chase scene just to make sure everyones awake + its always fun when lokis in a chase scene

the same 'luc is actually loki' reveal as we get in the comics, but now its after a chase scene so its more fun. also, thor explains that loki was killed by surtur somehow. very important.

to be clear: loki doesnt have his magic in this movie, its the same as the comics. he can try but nothing doing.

thor takes loki back to asgard [i choose to have kid loki with his hair down in this movie because its cuter. he can have his stupid condom hood on sometimes but not here] and we get an introductory shot of thor walking with loki through asgard, some comments 'oh wow i really am in the future' from loki

at the palace thor sticks loki in the library while he [thor] goes to talk to odin about the uh suddenly alive again stopped-being-evil-for-one-second-to-save-his-brother loki. which im sure frigga is fine with. note that im replacing odin with frigga/the allmothers in this movie because explaining odins death takes away from lokis lokiness.

WHILE LOKI IS IN THE LIBRARY, IKOL RETURNS. MONTAGE: loki wandering around, solving riddles while getting suspicious looks from everyone for his loki-ness. thor trying to convince people to be cool with loki. this is mostly interrupted by loki causing trouble. im picturing this + previous part as some light comedy sections/relationship building bits in comparison to how dark most of the kid loki storyline is.

finally: 'this is a place hidden in a whim beneath a daydream'. loki back at the library dropping into the question mark, thor back talking to frigga. we cut between the two as kid loki talks to old loki and thor talks to the allmothers, trying to convince them that loki is like, cool. finish with loki smugly sealing ikol and thor yelling at the allmother about saving his brother.

see the thing about the ENTIRE kid loki arc is that like. so much of it i cant just get rid of or condense very much? like JiM 2011 is schemes on schemes on schemes its so good and it all builds on top of each other. so what im getting rid of is the new mutants sidequest, most of the helwolf, almost all of the serpent/fear lords, and anything post 'i am the crime that will not be forgiven'. ill probably cut out most of the mephisto vs hel arc, since we have surtur going on instead--we'll say loki stole his sword's shadow earlier. and since we dont have the serpent arc, we dont need two leahs either. im thinking most of the montage will be foreshadowing of loki's schemes, considering whats getting cut out in the actual writing

so loki comes out of the library about to introduce ikol to thor, but thor's been locked up for being a little bitch to the allmother. this is where we get loki's 'thor, if you had to do something bad to prevent something worse, would you?' question. volstagg drags loki off to set him to work

(im picturing loki having caused volstagg trouble at least twice in the montage, so here we get a rule of three subversion instead, with volstagg doing the story of toothgrinder and toothgnasher and then 'despite all the ills your other self has caused, i have my own brood of children. unfortunately, im fond of all of you disgusting brats, no matter what mistakes you make' (< not verbatim))

next we get a much shorter montage of 1 loki spying and 2 loki talking to his bird. again, more montageshadowing

loki spying on the allmothers, hears that there is trouble in hel between surtur and hela (i knowww they arent the same place but surtur is basically surphisto in this treatment). frigga says 'no no, lets stay here' but we get the implication that she knew loki was listening and sneaking out

loki breaks the helwolf with the magic bridle, and we make his breaking into hel relatively quick so that he can meet leah and start making friends with her.

some leah+loki bonding with them fighting demons and sniping at each other. loki brings up the bffs thing and we get another comedy moment with his starkphone. he attempts to show her cocomelon (i know they cant do it but i want to see it). they investigate the surtur thing a little bit but theyre both, like, 12. (loki has his condom hood here so leah can make fun of him).

loki goes back to asgard to report the Big News but frigga yells at him for 'bringing an element of hel into Asgard Itself'. they both get in trouble, hela will arrive within a few days to get her handmaiden back.

things keep going wrong-er in asgard even while loki is grounded. shaking water, smell of sulfur, all stuff that generally bodes the opposite of well. but loki isnt there so it cant be his fault.

finally surtur bursts into asgard to Rain Terror And Ragnarok down on everyone. but they cant all die because something something prophecy. another action scene: we see the asgardians fighting various summoned demons, evacuating people, etc. possibly have a subplot about surtur stealing the bodies of asgardians so we can have some excitement up in this bitch. durin the action scene: leah actually fights with daggers while loki is sneaking around getting made fun of or told to get out of the way. they are losing the fight. the first big turn is him releasing thor from prison to help fight. this is when they land the first major blow on surtur.

more loki sneaking around. this is where we see some of the foreshadowing in the montages pay off. all very rube goldberg-y because, again, no magic! however while his contraptions are going off there are some that work for no perceivable reason. like some are going off because we saw him set them off, and then we see a new one that is equally silly but was not planned.

here things split again: loki goes back into the library because things are looking bad: loki says hes looking for answers, but hes really looking for ikol (due to aforementioned unpredicted rube goldbergs)

while loki falls into his book, hela arrives. the tide is now firmly on the side of the asgardians as hela proves herself once again to be one of the least objectionable mothers in asgard (not a huge competition in terms of comics canon). and since leah is her handmaiden, hela has an amputation at the wrist in this movie.

we focus mostly on the action scene with the next few minutes, with only occasional flashes of the lokis' conversation to explain what theyre talking about (how the plan was always for adult loki to take kid loki's body, but we only get one sentence from either at a time). while the asgardians have surtur on the ropes, we get the classic gloat about how neither surtur nor the asgardians can ever truly win because blah blah blah prophecy. meanwhile, adult loki is explaining why the shadow of surtur's sword has to be used, but kid loki doesnt know how to, ha-ha-ha gotcha. kid loki gets depressed, adult lokigets sarcastic and offers a compromise (kid loki does the killing with the shadow, but adult loki gets control of his hands; after that, kid loki can have three conversations before adult loki takes his body)

kid loki agrees, comes back to strike the last blow.

i want to adapt most of the conversations as they go in the comic--so kid loki & classic loki's 'i wanted me to change. not you.', final blow on surtur, everybody laughs and applauds loki, THEN loki's monologue realization with leah, has hela send her away/back in time, then running around the ruins of asgard, people call out to him actually being friendly for once without loki ever replying (3 conversations) THEN loki's 'thor if i ever go bad will you promise to kill me' conversation in the garden. now since i got rid of a lot of the afterlife drama im getting rid of brún's conversation with loki. unfortunately i do like loki refusing to speak to leah at the end so im keeping that there, and im replacing that conversation with a conversation with frigga/allmother, one part 'perhaps we could find a place for you' one part 'oh this lady loves manipulating her adoptive son'.

return to the world inside the book. this we adapt almost word for word, but we add 'i am the crime that will not be forgiven' as the last line (so damn me -> damn you all -> [beat] -> i am the crime that will not be forgiven. and we keep the loki-eating-ikol thing.

green fire burns the screen black. beat. FLASH OF BRIGHT GREEN EYES ONSCREEN. DISTORTED LAUGHTER. credits.

POST CREDITS SCENE: AoA!loki ducking down from the top of the screen, hair dangling. he waves, winks, does a little magic of the asgard skyling blowing ot dust. cut to black. loud sound of a twink falling. END MOVIE.

remember that this is just a treatment that i typed up while rewatching the original thor movie on some weird russian porn site. and i do legitimately believe that the kid loki writing is some of the strongest in modern comics and while i would LOVE to do like, a 12 episode season of an animated show to better adapt all the schemes (not to mention the britannia arc which was just, SO good) i really do legitimately miss the old animated features that marvel did back in the late aughts/early 10s. hence movie.

while im making my wishlist:

i want the backgrounds to be watercolor, but with 2d animation. BUT. during the magpie scene, i want the animation also to be watercolor, and for the scenes in the book, i think paint-on-glass would be SO cool. when loki is falling into the book, i want it to be cell animated from a very basic sketch of a human body up--like, first few frames all you see is the stick legs, rectangle feet, circle joints, trapezoid body, and the details get built up until hes an actual human at the end.

this all being said im not actually SUPER opposed to it being cgi. i just like 2d animation better (it is the nostalgia)

i dont know how feasible this is but i think itd be so cool if the lokis shared a voice actor along with leah and hela.

i want the shadow of surtur's sword to be like, animated as just being the erasure of whatever frame its on instead of being an actual shape

also i want old loki to be the same uncanny valley cgi from the blood brothers series

Agreeing with the two previous posts as both an amateur linguist and a native speaker of a North American French regiolect (Montréalais–Estrien). Arkadiev’s evidence is correct, though (23) is really really stretching it, but I don’t think the evidence he presents is strong enough to argue for Spoken French polysynthesis or even really polysynthesization (notwithstanding that structural typology is kind of fake anyways).

At most I think you can say that French has polypersonal agreement and topicalization, but the lack of noun incorporation (Arkadiev mentions this in 3.3 but I don't think he gives substantial enough evidence) and especially of lexical affixes makes me apprehensive to apply the polysynthetic label, even for a dialect like mine that makes even heavier use of polypersonal agreement and phonetic fusion than is normal in the Metropole.

I also think that Arkadiev’s analysis misses out on a key aspect of French morphophonology, which is that morpheme, syllable, and word boundaries are rarely coterminous anywhere, and can even span prosodic breaks (liaison non enchaînée). So while there are certainly no clear boundaries between the verb root and its clitics and auxiliaries (and I think it does make sense to analyze the clitics as prefixes in a polypersonal verb complex), there are also no clear boundaries between verbs and, say, the definite article of what Arkadiev calls the right-detached antitopic immediately following, and the noun following that, and the AP following that, and the PP following that, and so on.

I also think Arkadiev’s omission of discussion of the negation suffix pas [pɑ], which clearly ought to go in Position +1 in his lovely little verb template on p3 is striking, because [pɑ] and other negative markers like [ply] and [ʒ̊mɛ] always come immediately after the root without any intervening phrases. Except when the verb is marked with what Arkadiev identifies as future [vɛ]/[vɑ] (-7), perfective [ɛ]/[ɑ] (-2), or causative [fɛ] (-1) prefixes, in which case the negative marker goes immediately after them instead, which makes them look less like polysynthetic TAM markers in a verb complex and more like auxiliary verbs in a language with strict phrase-level syntax IMO. Add to that that Position -7 can just as easily be replaced with other auxiliaries like pouvoir, vouloir, devoir, oser (pas), and phrases like être pour, être sur le point de, avoir besoin de, venir de, which all conjugate for person & TAM and take their own arguments and adverbs.

So, as Arkadiev gives:

Je le vois [ʒø̈lvwɑ] “I see him”

Je le vois pas [ʒø̈lvwapɑ] “I do not see him”

Je vais le voir [ʒælvwɑ] “I will see him”

But also:

Je vais pas le voir [ʒapælvwɑ] “I will not see him”

which would be, I think, expected in the kind of configurational root-centered verb complex that Arkadiev proposes, especially considering that that kind of negative marking is extremely common in polysynthetic languages (cf. Adyghe on p1).

Also IME double marking for indirect objects is fairly uncommon, and while Je lui donne à ma sœur doesn’t sound unnatural, it does feel a bit redundant, which I think is notable given that my dialect has basically mandatory double marking for both subjects and direct objects.

as opposed to the more emphatic forms with topic:

(n.b., the prefix [a] is the standard Québécois form of elle. I believe in France they use [ɛl] in the same way. Likewise with vais being [(v)a] in QC while [vɛ] in FR.)

Have people on here (not the linguists I mean everybody else) fully appreciated the "spoken French is mildly polysynthetic" thing? Let me caveat this be saying that I am not a proficient French speaker in any capacity; the paper (or conference talk, I guess?) which lays out this argument is fairly convincing to me assuming that its facts are right, but I have no capacity to judge how well the grammatical claims about spoken French hold up empirically.

Anyway, the take away for the non linguist is basically this: traditional French grammar, as it is taught to French schoolchildren and to foreign learners, is significantly divergent from how French is actually spoken, i.e. the grammar that a culturally-neutral linguist producing an analysis of French would come up with. In particular,

Spoken French has a complex prefixal verb template involving subject, object, and indirect object marking. In traditional French grammar these prefixes are considered independent pronouns and auxiliary verbs and are written with spaces between them, but their rigid ordering with respect to the verb root, significant phonological reduction, and the inability to dislocate them from the verb (e.g. with intervening adjectives) suggest that analyzing them as prefixes would be more standard. The fact that they are able to co-occur with independent nominals and that such constructions are quite common furthers this analysis.

If the above analysis is taken up, then spoken French is verb-centric and moderately non-configurational, in the sense that the inflected verb is the only obligatory element of the clause, and independent NPs are somewhat free with regard to the positions they can occur in. This is another typical characteristic of polysynthetic languages.

This is a strikingly different analysis than the largely analytic and moderately inflecting, strictly SVO picture of French syntax one is usually presented with. Certainly this latter picture is more descriptive of the written standard, but it seems that the spoken language either has evolved or is in the process of evolving away from that standard.

My impression from various discussions is that the more traditional, analytic constructions still exist in spoken French, but the "polysynthesis-like" constructions are becoming increasing common and favored in the spoken language. So perhaps we might say that French is "becoming mildly polysynthetic", rather than that it's already there. Still, this should be very striking even for the non-linguist: the language you see on the page is very much not always the language that is in people's mouths!

Your infatuation wasn’t just of Gus it was just encouraged by the little games you would play with him, putting your finger on the tank followed by Gus swimming to it and bumping the glass, something so simple but so fun, calm and soothing especially when its an extra stressful day.

Steven noticed, and in moments where he wasn’t front mark would take a picture for your daddy to look at later when he would be front again.

Layla was understanding to the situation between mark and Steven so when they were out at work or just busy she would sit with you in front of the fish tank playing follow with Gus.

Eventually you had gotten a fishy pal and a few snails for the tank so gus wouldn't get lonely when he had no one to play with, but of course there you were on stressful days and sleepless night little or big watching your little aquatic friends.

Steven even noticed when you’d go to the library and comeback with books about marine life and the oceans, it brought a smile to his face to see you so enthralled over something.

Today he had the day off, he’s been planning the events for today for a couple weeks now, kind of hoping you’d be little for the experience so it’ll be more memorable to healing your inner child.

In your room he seats himself next to you on your bed, making sure to turn off your alarm before it woke you so he could wake you himself, rubbing his hand along between your shoulder blades as you lay on your tummy, stirring awake and maneuvering yourself to hug him, "good morning my little star, i hope you slept well because we have a fun day planned" that really peaked your interest as your half lidded eyes shot open in excitement, a day with daddy just you and him.

"Daddy where we goin?" You question as he pulls into a parking lot, I cant tell you just yet bud, but once you see the entrance you’ll know right as you see it" excitedly rushing to get out, jumping up and down, you know you’re not allowed to run off without him holding your hand.

"Alright baby lets go" taking your hand, he leads you over pulling the tickets out of his pocket, "daddy, daddy its the fishie place" tugging him to the line you quickly get through the check in and bag check and off you go, pulling him in all directions.

A little overwhelmed of all the decisions you stop in the middle of the main area, looking around trying to figure out where to start you look up to your daddy with a pout, "where we go fiwst dada?".

"Oh bub, you get too excited? Lets look at the map, it’ll show up the full round and best route" he chuckles.

Looking at the map posted he ponders for a moment trying to determine what way you should go, " do you wanna see big fishies or small fishies first? Maybe we should work our way up hm?"

"Dat sounds pewfect daddy, so perfect, what ways the smol fishies?

Leading you to the left trail to the first building with your average everyday pet fish, crabs, muscles gooey ducks and many more. entering the first room you run over to the first tank, your hands pushed against the glass, you go off pointing at each fish, telling everything you know about them, it was absolutely adorable to him, a smile amongst his face nodding along to your rambling.

"Hey peanut, look over there, there’s a big touch pool, do ya wanna feel the fishys?"

"Yes-yes pease daddy, i gon be careful i pomise" dragging him to the touch pool, and putting your hand into the cold water, "dada dis ones a sea nenomy, wike nemos home" reaching over to more creatures, petting a starfish "even tho dey can grow back their legs but the new one aways gonna be a tiny bit shorter, ooh and dis is an urchin, he’s not a long-spined urchin so is safe to touch"

Touching the stingrays and sea cucumbers and others you finally continue on.

Going to the bigger fish tanks you find small sharks in rehabilitation, info about dolphins and whales, a place that overlooks the beach just outside the aquarium zoo shows seals on the rocks.

Next was the otters where people are able to bring rocks for them to put in their underarm pockets, Steven gives you a rock from the backpack where you hand it directly to an otter pup.

The next exhibit was by far the coolest, with rehabilitated manta rays squid, octopuses, squid, jellyfish, sea turtles and a few more of your favorites.

By the time you got to the end of the exhibits you were absolutely tuckered out, getting a stuffy octopus and off you went, headed to the car, if it wasn’t for how exhausted you ended up being by the end, you would have tried to refuse leaving.

Every step less sturdy than the other "oh my baby, did you have a good time?" He picks you up carrying you the rest of the way, "mhm, had most -mount of fun, best day wif daddy" you mumble, eyes falling shut, trying to fight it off, he sets you in the passenger seat buckling you up and getting in himself.

Taking your hand in his while your other clutches your stuffy, "go to sleep dove, daddy’s here, we’ve had a big day"

I reallly wanna share my fluffy finds today on my walk because i thought for sure it was gonna be a terrible day because of my allergies and such buuuut... look at all the critters i saw.

There was also an American bulldog in this yard but I couldn't take a picture of him

There were 2 chickens in this yard but I could only take a picture of one... Then I saw a Jack Russell terrier A border collie and a corgi
