Pesterlog Timestamps

I’ve wondered before about pesterlogs not having timestamps the way real instant messages generally do. Some pesterlogs begin with a timestamp - ‘-- turntechGodhead [TG] began pestering ectoBiologist [EB] at 16:13 --’ (p.26) – but that doesn’t show the time between messages. It might be harder to read and would probably make the screen more cluttered, which is my guess as to why they’re not there, and for the most part it’s extraneous information.

But there’s one pesterlog that I think would really benefit from timestamps for each message, and it’s the late night unanswered messages Dave leaves for Jade on page 829. This page is such a great insight into Dave’s head, and there’s this clear ebb and flow to his thoughts that feels like bursts of frantic typing interspersed with pauses to wait or do other things. We know the messages start at 05:14 Dave’s time (CDT), so here’s what it might look like with timestamps.

Dave’s first ‘hey’ must come from seeing Jade online, and these kids are very responsive to each other, so it probably only takes a few minutes of no reply before Dave realizes that Jade has fallen asleep while logged in. Instead of a quick ‘talk to you tomorrow’, he quickly descends into rambling about how ‘nothing means anything’ due to Jade’s ‘coquettish damn riddles’. Dave’s emotions don’t show on his face but they do show in his hands (p.464) and it’s not surprising that he lets some things slip in the middle of the night, maybe even hinting at some feelings for Jade.

In Dave’s earlier/later conversation with Jade (p.382) he’s a little thrown off by her powers, but overall staying calm. Here, late at night and without someone to bounce off of, he’s getting frustrated and talking himself into a corner, workshopping his own jokes, maybe coming up with a word he’ll reuse in a comic someday. These messages are very stream of consciousness, and only pause when the chump puns stop flowing through his fingers and need due consideration.

By this point in the story we know about Jade’s interest in furries, and that Dave is (ironically?) supportive of this. I’m sure this is an excellent source of humor for Dave and something he jokes about all the time. I could read lots into the ‘s’ being species here, where it’s typically sex (biological sex, used synonymously with gender) only the traditional ‘s’ isn’t something that’s relevant to Dave. I know that he does not intend that meaning and is just making a furry joke. Maybe these are jokes Jade gets annoyed at, and Dave is poking at this in case she’s ignoring his messages and this gets her to respond.

Dave goes into his second set of rambling messages, forgetting that he’s annoyed at Jade as he enters full fursona creation mode. He’s ‘wasting a killer fursona’ but he literally can’t stop himself from doing it – he either doesn’t think of saving his ideas until Jade’s around, or he wants to give her something silly to wake up to. The ‘i dont know like’ gives the sense that Dave started typing not knowing how the sentence would end, and also downplays his ideas before he even gets to them. But as he keeps typing he forgets to be so self conscious for a few messages. He has an artistic vision and a great vocabulary and is using all these evocative words – ‘sinewy’, ‘arching’, ‘prowl’, ‘nimblest’ and ‘gumption’ paint a picture of this proud and athletic creature. One that doesn’t resemble a kangaroo rat at all, which is even better. Dave’s imagination is all over the place.

After running out of steam on his fursona, Dave might try turning his attention elsewhere for a few minutes, and then remember that he’s tired, lonely, and didn’t get any validation on his recent jokes. These are the most heartfelt and open his messages get. I don’t think Pesterchum has a ‘delete’ option, otherwise Jade wouldn’t have seen these ones. Dave’s still got furries on the brain here as he goes straight for an animal metaphor, and once again he’s thinking of himself like the victim of Jade’s attacks, and the bear attack is a lot more visceral than just getting chumped by her riddles. There’s a desperation behind Dave trying to restart the conversation with another ‘hey’ followed by a ‘where are you’ that he knows by now won’t be answered. It’s so lonely, but it doesn’t feel selfish; the ‘bag of kibble’ metaphor reads like Dave knows Jade would enjoy this conversation and he wants her to share in this with him.

Dave has a disease called ‘commitment to the bit’ and it’s terminal. He also needs to make a quick recovery from those actual feelings he expressed above. By this point in the conversation I have a visual in my mind – it’s a big black cloud in Dave’s mind of all the problems he wants to avoidthinking about, and two shining bats at either side marked ‘talk to Jade?’ and ‘kangaroo rat fursona’ and his thoughts are rapidly ping-ponging back and forth between those to avoid all the bad in the middle. So with Jade not responding to his pleas, of course he returns to his two standards of imagination and wordplay, adding to the slightly cursed but incredibly well drawn mental image of Akwete.

It is at this point in the conversation that we learn Dave had a reason for messaging Jade. He probably wanted to drop this into conversation casually like it was no big deal, and might have distracted himself into forgetting about it until now. It’s also possible he wasn’t intending to send it, but was embarrassed by all his ramblings above, so came up with a quick excuse. ‘Explore’ was originally written by Jade (in-universe) and we learn on the next page that it’s not the first time these two have collaborated. Dave is outwardly confident in his musical abilities (p.339) and has the ready-made excuse of irony that makes it easier for him to share his art, protecting him from negative responses. Jade is also reluctant to criticize others, so all those factors combined means Dave is probably comfortable with sending Jade his remix.

Maybe Dave’s finally heading to bed, or maybe he doesn’t like to leave things hanging (p.445), but he rounds out the conversation and officially signs off. By both taking the pressure off Jade to respond, and claiming that he’ll forget what he said, Dave denies any importance to his own thoughts. Maybe he hopes Jade will scroll to the bottom and see these messages first, and ignore everything from above. He definitely feels ashamed of some or all of what he’s said – whether it’s the general practice of sending a large volume of messages to someone who’s offline, the hints towards his own loneliness, the possibility that his new fursona could be serious and unironic, the remix as the whole basis for conversation, or all of the above. Dave has a tendency for speaking without thinking and then regretting what he’s said, struggling to meet the high standards of self control that his bro has set for him, and since he can’t go back and fix his slips, this is his only way of correcting them.

Dave’s hope to talk to Jade tomorrow wins out over his embarrassment, and softens the couple of messages before it – Dave is dismissing his own thoughts, not the overall idea of talking to Jade. He’s not the type to send a ‘<3’, but it feels implied.

This is going to be different from my usual yappings but im thinking on how Stolas is a great example of a parent who loves their child deeply, and does things to protect this child, and yet falls horribly short of an actual good parent.

I was rewatching some clips, and I found it so interesting that Stolas is very young when he becomes of “age” to inherit the grimoire from paimon, I can’t remember the exact age he said he was turning but it was no more than 8, I believe. But when Stolas has his powers zapped as punishment for the next 100 years, Octavia is suddenly too young to inherit her father’s status?

Now this could, of course, simply be a plot hole. But let’s pretend it’s not.

Octavia is: 16/17, (again I don’t remember the canonical ages but I know she isn’t in her 20s), unmarried, childless, and even childish with being allowed to behave as a moody teenager without any sort of punishment and corrections whatsoever, im sure there are other points to be made, but these are the ones off the top of my head.

Now, this is all great at first glance, Stolas has done a good job of ensuring that his daughter doesn’t go through the same painful upbringings he did, right?

Well, Octavia is also: emotionally neglected, and it takes outbursts more or less from Via to truly get her fathers attention, introverted, which isn’t necessarily bad but you still need to be able to talk and handle business aspects when you’re supposed to work over a portion of hell that will require say, idk, meetings, dealings. And obviously, clearly, behind on her magic education. So in general just behind on her education as an heiress.

And I distinctly remember Stolas saying “I haven’t taught you spells like that” in the episode where she goes to see the “stars”, when I feel like a teleportation spell to earth should be INCREDIBLY easy for a demon like a goetia.

And circling back to what could be a plot hole — with Andrephelas (if I butchered that name sorry lol) saying that Stolas’s heir wasn’t of age, does this imply that perhaps Stolas petitioned the court to let Octavia mature much longer than he did before inheriting his status? Is Andrephelas playing into how sheltered Octavia is?

I don’t know! We don’t know! But im extremely excited for her upcoming episode.

All in all, Stolas has focused so much on giving Octavia the things that he never had, that he has failed her from being ready to function in society, and not just society, but failed to prepare her for what is quite literally her entire purpose in life, to be a goetia.

And to clarify, absolutely none of this is me bashing Stolas! I actually really enjoy his character, like I said at the start, he’s a great example of a parent who loves their child deeply but falls short of being an actual good parent, and that is deeply rooted into his character, everything “good” he does always seems to turn out, or is perceived, as bad.

And I find his relationship so, SO interesting with Octavia as Stolas has done the exact thing Octavia feared, he has run off with blitz and left her behind. And now that she’s fully in the hands of her mother (who I purposely excluded in this rambling because I seriously doubt she was very hands on with Via, and I actually have a different ramble about this subject one day because I acc find Stella’s potential interesting) and her uncle, im sure that their manipulation against Stolas will work — at least for a little while.

She does love him but he might find her as a bit of a bother, I don’t think Herze would mind her much though.

3. Speaking of Enis, she’s more conservative and more religious than he is (tho that’s not a hard thing to beat, he’s basically secular)

What kind of dynamic do they have with each other? -> post relationship EEEEK ok... how they actually got together is a story for another day, but basically both of them fell (very confused w their emotions & surprised they did to begin with) but she fell soooo much harder. their dynamic was odd at first, not knowing what to really make of it (and because they were always at each others throats, getting into physical fights and all that before they got together), but it slowly built up to be full of playful banters and teasing, which was waaaayyy different from the obvious general teasing/bullying Butch did.

Luna let loose a bit and managed to get more comfortable with him, so that's when she fell the most. she would always shower him with love and affection, whenever he would accept it. i like to think she was the one to basically show him affection isn't something to be scared of and was patient with him since ik he might not be huge on it (or used to it), considering his upbringing. Butch would still struggle to keep up with the affection, but he tries to show it with actions. maybe getting her an issue of Grognak she might not have yet, or trying to make her smile in his own ways, teaching her how she could stand up for herself more, or literally as simple as just listening to her. their relationship was always kept a huge secret for a while, so its not like they could flaunt it, but... their dynamic was def one of trying to learn to love and be loved despite their history. 4. their familiarity, and how they keep each other grounded. like, regardless of their issues from their past relationship, they know each other. from how to piss each other off, to where they like to be touched, how they react to certain things, their interests, their dynamic, their quirks, the way they fidget when nervous, body language, etc etc etc. but mainly, they know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Luna's not afraid to call him out when he’s being reckless or full of himself, even if he rolls his eyes and calls it nagging at first. but her words stick with him, whether he admits it or not, and he’ll start to think about what she said when he’s alone. as for Butch, he does the same in his own way, throwing her sharp reality checks when she’s caught in her head or being too hard on herself. he’ll snap her out of it. not by coddling, but by reminding her of what she’s capable of, sometimes with a blunt “get it together” or a sarcastic “you done yet?” that somehow works.

regardless, even with all the baggage between them, they always seem to have each other’s backs, even if it’s unspoken. their history gives them a lot of reasons to clash, but it’s also what allows them to pull each other back up when it’s needed. there are a lot of unspoken feelings regarding each other (mostly because both are too stubborn to admit anything), but they care about each other in ways neither of them can really explain. it’s messy, it’s complicated, but it’s there. just don’t expect either of them to actually realize it anytime soon.

A Very important life update

Hi Tumblr, it's Milo.

I have sadly been inactive with writing fics and posts so I thought I would give a life update to explain myself

Trigger warnings for suicidal thoughts, depression and some hurtful religious rhetoric.

So things went south in june, specifically June 8th. I have grown up Mormon all my life but I do not align with the beliefs and have not since I was a kid. and on June 8th there was a church dance that I wanted to go to with some friends, whom also are in the church but don't have the beliefs, and my boyfriend. I told him to come to my house so we could hang out and we left to go to the building where the dance was early. after a few minutes of walking around the building my parents pull up in their car beside us and my mom tells me to get in. I get in and as soon as we start driving again my mom began to yell at me and called me "a fucking liar".

When I wasn't at home I left discord open on my device and my parents found out how I was queer and trans and that I was planning on making out with my boyfriend. the yelling continued until we parked in our driveway and my mom told me to change inside. I change into some pajamas as I shook from fear and I watched as my mother shoved some of my clothes and some of the things I loved in a trash bag. im crying and on the near brink of a panic attack and im scared when my dad comes to my side. only for him to pull me into a hug and say my mom was overreacting and that this wasn't a big deal. basically my mom and dad went through my discord chats with my friends while my mom (whom was very angry) made condescending remarks to me and asking me when this started.

im not going to go into what was said to me specifically (just imagine mormons talking about why being gay isn't in gods plan and how drinking coffee invokes satan and how all my friends are toxic, even if I said that I was the one who was choosing what to do.) but some highlights are:

My dad comforting me while my mom rants about how hard some her life was when she was younger and how her mom was meaner and my dad telling her that this isn't about her.

my mom telling me that im groomer if I continued to act friendly to a young girl at church because she is vulnerable from personal things happening in her life.

It ended with me crying myself to sleep that night and waking up at three am to message my boyfriend about what had happened after I left him. and the next morning my eyes were so puffy from crying it looked like I was having an allergic reaction. I had delt with suicidal thoughts in the past but those had gotten better since I moved but after that day, I had never had that kind of urge to in my life (im 16 Yo as of this post) and I genuinely couldn't imagine living after having my mother yell at me and make it look like she was throwing away my stuff (she later said that she just put it in a trash bag in her room and I grabbed back my cds, but she threw away half of my books and some clothes of mine, such as a pair of short pajama shorts and a fishnet top because they disgusted her.)

I am going to be 18 next year on October 17th. I plan on moving out of my house and into an apartment 20 minutes away. I think about moving out everyday now since June and I went to move out so badly. if anyone has any advice for me about college intuition coverage (since my mom has doomed my future by home schooling me my whole life and only teaching god) and just how to do basic things (i.e paying rent, creative writing jobs, and just life tips in general.)

I want help to get out of here and after I get my drivers license in less then 6 months then I think I can be a step closer to escaping the grasp of my mother and leaving the church for good. I am in secret contact with my boyfriend and a friend of mine for support and help for when I move. Anything that you, dear internet user, would be greatly appreciated and could save what's left of my scattered mental health.

I love you all so much and I have never felt so much support when I was so lonely and isolated. I never knew I wanted to be a writer until I tried it and saw how much you all loved it. ill forever be grateful for you guys for giving me the dream and desire to write better and to become an author. I will continue to give all the love you've shown for my fics right back to you all as much as I can.

The way I'm thinking about the bg3 story, both Rosio and Lucis were simultaneously completing parts of the quests, adventuring with only half of the companions, never running into each other (maybe at the end.. big avengers assemble moment.. except it's your ex that kinda ruined your life.. a classic), so from the pool of companions Rosio knows very well - Lae'zel, Shadowheart, Astarion, Jaheira and Halsin - he basically trusts Jaheira the most and almost instantly lol. She reminds him too much of his mother 🥲 Halsin is probably right there with her, he's the main voice of reason, Rosio trusts him to not let him and Astarion die during their gremlin shenanigans 😭 He kinda trusts Lae'zel and Shadowheart too, but only after their "fuck our goddesses" phase, he doesn't generally trust people too attached to their gods.

Funnily enough it took him the longest to trust Astarion 💀 Rosio was convinced he was the object of his manipulation basically till the "I love you" moment (and even more funnily enough, Rosio was willingly subjecting himself to that manipulation, being the self sabotaging, masochistic idiot that he is).

If Rosio knew Wyll, he wouldn't buy into his whole good boy hero shtick. He doesn't believe there are this kind-hearted people out there 😔 (But he's absolutely self projecting lol, the whole "how could you turn so kind when people wronged you so... and why I wasn't capable of it")

Lucis, on the other hand, fucking loves Karlach and Wyll. He trusts them with his life, considers them his best friends. Maybe he's a bit naive, but he actually finds their strong moral compasses admirable.

He trusts Gale too, but considering he's his lover, it's a tad more complicated 💀 It means the absolute world for Lucis that Gale would basically move mountains for him, but there's also.. Mystra 💀 That would be the source of his insecurities and a bit of trust issues (which, tbh, is pretty selfish, boy!!!! It's not like you're completely over your ex lmfaooo 😭)

(And if Lucis traveled with Astarion, it wouldn't even be a case of distrust, that would be a wholeass circus-level hatred... They're two peacocks, and in certain ways dangerously similar... Kill bill sirens blasting in the distance... And that's without the current-lover/ex-lover of Rosio dynamic 💀)

28. What is your Tav’s guilty pleasure?

Oh HMMM. The most typical one being food, I'd say. This man would run out of shape so fast if he wasn't leading an active life lmao. But if we're talking more Deep guilty pleasures, then it's being cared for, not having control, getting attention and feeling small (and yes, this is mostly about sex ahjkdajkds). He doesn't get to feel this way often nor does he even usually allow himself all this.. bc Issues and Trauma :)

For Lucis it's probably getting spoiled lol. He hates it about himself tho (being a spoiled kid, getting harshly criticized for it, wanting to be different, really cutting ties with the way he used to be).

But from more serious point of view, you can apply literal Guilty Pleasures to him. Lucis has such bad body autonomy and sex issues that he hasn't been able to have sex sober for like 20 years, he freaks out so bad and it got so mentally draining that it led to an addiction. Moreso then the age gap i just dont really buy their chemistry.

olay immediately after i added that they confirmed this is in fact, Spike. Im the smartest girl alive. I didnt imagine he would be british but I already like him a bit more then Angel. Even if hes kinda freaky.

Okay cut that cause principal snyder kinda implied he has at least some idea the stuff thats been happening has been supernatural. I dont know if he knows theyre vampyrs specifically cause thats kind of a leep. Legitamitely what answer could someone come to in this situation that would make sense. just answering these all on my own for hitorei because im thinking about them... :] (also gonna be focusing on lili as opposed to myself but some answers might be about me val ^^)

1. rei reminds me of many! snakes, peacocks, tanukis, foxes, hawks... anything flashy or elusive. hitoya is like a bulldog to me

2. me personally i'd give hitoya a gift card to some high-end steakhouse. or a bottle of scotch. and i'd give rei a pie to the face or perhaps rocks. lili might give him something slightly better but idk what

3. i don't know if hitoya lili OR rei have hobbies 💀💀 they're all too employed for that (and rei... is rei). THOUGH i do think hitoya wanted to do magic tricks at a point? it'd be cute if he still knew some tricks and taught them to lili, and then she uses the sleight of hand on rei to make him laugh... lili and rei used to read together a lot when they first became a couple too

4. hitoya sweeps dusts vacuums washes dishes you name it. i think he's very clean, and would make sure to stay on top of it even if he's run thin from work (just more distraction from The Feelings). rei leaves a mess in his wake

5. both of them yes. bonus points for hitoya for (probably) being able to drive a motorcycle too

6. unsure... i think hitolili both use very generic ones, rei has a special ringtone for lili that he like.. recorded himself or something so its unmistaken

7. hitoya would if a situation called for it, rei would if a situation called for it but he's manufacturing the situation himself so he can logically argue with someone online and then get something out of them

8. i think hitoya would seem outwardly stressed by the idea, but actually be very accepting of it (guy who has probably sat through kuko talking about reincarnation). to me rei is the opposite, outwardly indulges the idea but secretly feels stressed or even forlorn about it

9. OH GODDD lili probably gets mixed reviews when introducing rei because everyone can tell there's something about those two that needs to stay in containment

12. hitoya i think is a silvery purple, rei i associate with dark red and gold

16. hitoya/rei probably don't consciously think of any pet names for lili... rei calls her 'baby' all the time, but he calls a lot of girls 'baby' LOL. just saying lili's name makes him flustered though

17. hitoya likes sitting in the same room and doing seperate things, rei likes drinking (a given) and engaging in hands-on things together (he strikes me as a type to enjoy mixing vegetables while the other chops them, or doing lego sets together [first hands-on thing i could think of 😭😭😭 but tbh he probably needs that instead of inventing crazy shit])

18. hitoya shows it best through staying by lili's side, trying to be of some comfort, providing her with a place to stay when she needs to fall back on someone. rei shows it best through indirect actions-- ordering in food without being asked to, placing elaborate gift bags on the counter for lili to find later, putting her through a busy day so she feels alive again. lili also has a very weak spot for whenever rei talks really smooth

19. hitoya likes lili's eyes and lips, rei likes her legs and her freckles (her legs happen to have a lot of distinctive moles too)

20. i love how compassionate hitoya is, even if he doesn't give himself the credit that he is!! i love his conviction and his dedication to helping others find justice, peace and joy. rei i love for very opposite reasons LMAO i like that he's elusive and scheming. but i also like how he has a very obvious soft side no matter how much he tries to play the bad guy, but i ALSO like that this cruelly blends into all the bad things he's done. i like how complex he is...

21. i think hitoya's drawing of lili would be kind of sharp, brick-like, and i think she'd laugh and say it's kind of abstract in a way (this is not at all what he intended). i think rei's would be a little more realistic, maybe even scarily so, but i think he'd struggle to make it not look like a scientific plan of sorts (which would make lili roll her eyes a little)

22. yes. hitoya might complain about how big of a bite is taken, rei orders extras to make sure no one goes hungry

she was the only person that bought you joy at the hell-hole.

nat would be the one and only thing you would look forward to every day you'd wake up, knowing she would be at your door, ready to walk you to the lab stations.

it had come a part of your routine ever since you met.

even though you were a trained assassin just like natasha and so many of the other widows were, you never had to carry out a mission for you were highly praised by the bosses and leaders for your knowledge in science. he kept you to lab work, you and 16 other girls, stuck in a lab from dawn till dusk, sometimes not even being allowed to leave until all the work you were given was finished.

those nights were the most stressful. especially being under the watchful eye of the mother, you couldn't afford to have a slip up. but sometimes, if she wasn't out on a mission, tasha would come and sit down next to you in the laboratory, and quietly watch you.

although not much was spoken, her presence was all you needed to keep you sane.

unlike the widows, you and the 16 scientists weren't brainwashed with their "assassinate and hurt everyone" serum, or whatever it's called. guess drekov thought it would be ok since you would never actually get to leave he red room at all, and the only outside intel you could get, was from any widow who decided to share their mission story (which was extremely rare).

when natasha escaped the red room, you never knew. you just thought the worst.

she got killed.

well, that was the only thing you could think of. the bosses never say when or if a widow has been killed so when or if one stops showing around, you just assume they were dead.

a few years pass, and your exceptionally outstanding work and efforts didn't go past a blind eye. you were heavily rewarded by drekov himself with a hidden home in Ohio. moving from the familiar and safe surroundings of the red room lab to some place in the middle of america was pretty daunting at first. there was a weird feeling of somewhat, freedom. after never seeing the light of the outside world for the 20 years you were stuck in the building was overwhelming, but you got used to it as the time past.

one day, on a warm, sunny and peaceful july afternoon, children were playing out on the greens, the birds were singing, and 4 loud thumps on your door echoed through your house, startling you out of your concentration.

you carefully place your equipment down and make your way to the door. when you opened it, you were met with a short blonde who had a stoic expression on her face.

"are you professor. y/n y/m/n y/l/n?" she asks.

you look at her and then behind her to see if anyone else was there.

"who's asking?"

"i am. obviously."

"and you are...?"

"yelena belova. former red room assassin."

your eyes widen at her statement and you raise an eyebrow,

"former?"

"yes. i was rescued by a fellow ex-widow who i shall not disclose." yelena says.

"why are you here?" you ask.

"to save you."

"from what? im not in danger?"

yelena makes her way into your house she looks around, as if she is analysing the place from atom to atom.

"is anyone else in here?"

"uh.... why?"

yelena ignores your question and continues to examine your living room and she comes across your latest project that has been commissioned by drekov. yelena picks the bracelet up and turns around to face you,

"what are these?"

"widow bites. the red room has asked me to come up with a better and much stronger system for them." you explain to the girl.

yelena nods as she places the bracelet back down onto the table, then she whistles softly as she gazes out of the window. the whistle pattern sounds oddly familiar, but you have no time to think about where you heard it, your senses are clouded by a thick red smoke. you cough violently, shaking your head in an attempt to get rid of it.

once the smoke thins out, you open up your eyes and as your vision clears, you see someone standing in front of you with their head tilted.

"y/n/n? y/n/n are you alright? can you hear me?"

no.

no.

it could not be.

there was only one person who ever called you "y/n/n".

"t-tasha?" you whisper and the woman smiles

"yes! yes, it's me! i'm here." she says and hugs you tightly.

you start to cry onto her shoulder, tears of both sadness and joy.

"i thought you were dead! i thought they killed you."

"me? oh no, they don't have the skill for that!" nat jokes which makes you laugh.

"what was that smoke stuff you sprayed at me?"

"it's red dust. it rids the widows from their subjugation to the red room, in turn, making them free again." yelena tells you as she picks up a tube that was full of red liquid, like the empty one nat was holding.

"why did you spray it at me though? i was never under drekov's mind control."

both nat and yelena look at each other in amazement. that didn't make any sense? how did they keep you there for as long as they have?

you notice their expressions and decide to explain.

"i'm a scientist. therefore i never had to go out on a mission like you guys. i was stuck in the lab."

"so are you still trained to assassinate?" yelena queried.

"of course! you can never be too sure of what the future beholds! as mother always said, widows must be ready for the best, and the worst." you say with a smile.

after making some drinks for your two friends, you expose all of drekov's plans and schemes to them, and how you want out of the red room but it's not in any way easy. when more and more widows started to disappear, the rules and restrictions had heightened. the red room were taking no more risks. no more slip ups.

you were so grateful that yelena and natasha were able to escape the cruel grip of drekov's claws and free the other victims that were within his widow programme, it was still an extremely dangerous pursuit. and getting caught was a high risk.

as the months pass, you grow close to yelena and closer to natasha. you felt at ease once again now that the red head was back in your life, and she would be lying if she said otherwise.

you would help them with finding out information about the red room, and tactics they could use to save more of the widows, while also trying not to get caught yourself since you still technically worked for drekov.

although you knew that continuing with his work was wrong, there wasn't much you could do about it and yelena knew that. nat? well, let's just say she ignored the fact you were doing it. or so you thought.

every time you would be operating on new machinery, technology, serums, weapons or anything at all, natasha would sit there, watching you intently. you didn't think much of it at first, you thought she was just falling back into her old habits from all those years ago. however, you would notice that there were certain flies missing from their folders and drives from the computer.

the other day, you had left the room to go and get a few more screws from the garage, but when you came back, you saw nat, furiously typing away at your keyboard for a few seconds and then pulling out a USB from the side of the computer, shoving it into her jacket pocket. you stood there in shock, not quite sure how to react but nonetheless, you walked in as if nothing happened.

you knew something wasn't right about her behaviour, sneaking around and being secretive, still, you didn't want to jump to conclusions. but here you are now. regretting everything that led up to this moment. cursing yourself for even opening the door on that dreaded day.

Lost and found family

(That’s right I hopped onto the avatar 2 wagon Everyone is slightly aged up in this im just trying to get shit to work so bare with me neteyem is 21 so is reader. I’m still a new writer and this hasn’t been profed) bold means Navi language

My name is Caspian lane. The year is ( ) when I was ten the man that basically raised me went off to another planet in the place of his twin brother. I waited five years before I was told Jake wasn’t coming back. At 16 I joined the marines the youngest I could be since I had no actual guardians. For years I climbed the ranks and became a marine just like Jake until the RAD came and found me. They told me that Jake had been captured, and has been the Navis leader Toruk Maktos prisoner all this time. That they were putting a team together to go and find and rescue him and the others that were captured. I should have known this all was a lie but the prospect of Jake being safe is all I heard. I joined without a second thought.

Present day, I arrived on Pandora but not as a human. I left earth as an almost 30 year old red headed human who spent her formative years training to be a soldier working towards one goal. Now I'm 20 or at least my body is.. I'm a Navi now, the indigenous species here. It’s definitely different being so tall and blue but hey I've always liked the color blue. I definitely miss my red hair but after braiding a piece of it into my new body’s hair,I'm getting used to this.

Today I met Quartich and his crew. The general explained that they were called the blue team and that they were there to help find and rescue Jake with me. I'm grateful to them, having more than one person will definitely be advantageous but They are a little rough around the edges, all definitely being way more guarded with me then each other. Oh well I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to save my family.

We’re all dropped off in the forest, everyone super vigilante as we make our way to an old outpost station they are looking for clues in. The station is decrepit and overgrown with vegetation. I simply look around in wonder at the nature around us as quaritch and his goons look into the body that was left there. A noise captures my attention, I turn back to see if the others heard it but they’re still preoccupied with their own searches. The noise is heard again and I know I shouldn’t go off on my own but my gut tells me there’s no danger. I slowly make my way over and see children. Three Navi children and one human one. Wait why are there children here, but before i can speak they all are intercepted by the others and manhandled to the ground

“Hey hey stop, they're just kids what are y'all doing!”

“Stand down corporal.-quaritch

“No they are kids were not here to hurt anyone this is a search and rescue mission i say as i get in his face. Now let these kids go.”

“You know I've been real patient with your nonsense but now I think it's time to pop that bubble.

Next thing I know, pain explodes across my cheek as I fall to the floor, one of the other soldiers grabbing me and putting me in the same position as the children.

“What the fuck?”

“Shut up lane. I've been patient but here's the real talk: we aren't here to save Jake Sully, we are here to kill him, for the traitor that he is.”

“What?”

“Yes sir, your dear old jake isn't a prisoner here he’s their damn leader. And we’ve come to stop him starting here.”

“Look sir this one has five fingers” one of the others shouts as he holds up the teen girl's hand.

“Well would you look at that. What about you boy, let me see your hands.”

The young male then flips quaritch off. And damn if he didn’t remind me of someone right there.”

“Well i'll be damned your his”

“What are you talking about?”

“These kids belong to none other than our dear jake sully.”-quaritch

“What.” I look around looking at the children. “They’re jakes?”

“And now that we have them, well for sure be able to lure Jake and that she demon he’s married to out in the open.”

“No I can’t let this happen, I won't let these children get hurt.

“Well I can’t wait to see how you try and stop us. Captain call the ship for Rendezvous and tell them we have captives and a traitor.”

“Sir yes sir.”

All I can do is thrash in the soldiers hold as my temper gets the best of me. How dare these hired guns lie to me. All my thrashing earns me though is a swift punch to the gut,knocking all the air out of me. On the ground now I try to think of a plan but all I can focus on is the scared looks on the kids faces.

“Hey, ugh hey: gaining their attention. “What are your names? Im caspian”

“Tuk”. The smallest child states the others shush her as the soldiers echos be quiet to all of us

“Ignore them. Tuk is a pretty name. I'm sorry you guys are in this mess but I promise you with every fiber of my being i won't let these guys hurt you.

They all look at each other and come to a silent consensus that im telling the truth. And silently introducing themselves to me.

“Why are you here? The older girl ask me

“I came here to find my family, your father.”

“You know our dad?”. Lo’ak asks softly

“Yes, Jake and Tommy basically raised me. So when Tommy died Jake went off here to make sure that we could get by and his salary alone was enough to last us years. So he took the job. I thought this whole time he had been captured and was being held captive so I worked hard and joined up to become blue and be able to rescue him. I guess now that I think about it there’s some holes in my plans.

“You think!” the human boy spider comments.

“Hey im still young cut me a break I’m here aren’t I.

“Can it you.” Quaritch commands as he walks toward spider .While they are talking I take in my surroundings. It’s gotten dark and the rain lightly pours. They've disarmed me from my gun but they forget I'm every much a marine as they are as I subtly pull out a smoke grenade from my belt. The kids all come to attention when a light clicking noise is heard in the wind.

“Kids look at me. They all turn their heads. Lo’ak seeing what I’m doing. subtle nods and motions to the other.

“Kids run!” I yell as I release the Grenade, the soldiers dropping the kids as they get away.

“I wrestle with the one holding me as an arrow suddenly flies through his head. I hid for cover. No idea what's going on as long as the kids were able to get away that's all I cared about.

The sullys pov

“Hey hey "Jake yells as he sees his children all running towards him.

“Dad dad.”

“Tuk you're ok. Are you all ok” as he goes and checks on his children

“Yes the lady helped us dad she helped us.”

“What who helped you”

“A lady, she said she knew you”. - Kiri

“She said her name was caspian”- lo’ak

“Ok Kiri ok right now i'm not worried about that i just want to make sure you're all safe ok. You guys get to the Irkrans now, Neteyams there, go now.

Jake watches his children leave as he goes to help his mate.

Caspians pov

The kids got away and now arrows and bullets are flying through the air as the colonel calls for the others to capture the kids or the ones firing at them an arrow narrowly missing his head

“Is that you mrs sully” i hear quaritch yell out into the air

“Demon" I hear being called back. “ I don't know how you are here but I will kill you as many times as I have to” the colonel Finally reloading begins to run ramped once again shooting towards the tops of the covered trees.

Wait he said misses sully that means jakes here. Getting up I weave through the vines and trees towards the Colonel trying to take out whoever I can with the small pistol I have left. The one I believe named Prager gets in my way thinking he intimidates me. But I've gone my whole military career having men underestimate me and me putting them on their asses so that's exactly what I did. Jumping up and kicking Prager in the face I beat him to the ground putting two shots into his chest. Another rounds the tree though making eye contact with me lifting his AR ready to fire when a hatchet flies through the trees making its target in his head.

That’s when I saw him. He's taller, with dreaded hair and paint on his face, but before I can say anything bullets again fly through the air sending everyone to cover however they can. I see in the distance the new Navi fighting with the others exchanging blows as the command ship finally comes into view. There's no way I'm letting these bastards go without a fight. All of the remaining team blue are retreating as I see quaritch pick up a fallen rocket launcher. Oh hell no. I run full force and tackle him to the ground a moment too late however if the ringing in my ears from the explosion hitting the big tree is an indicator.

“Lane i must say you are definitely living up to your name sake on being a pain in my ass”

All i can do is hiss at quaritch as he bring out his knife

“You all lied to me and I don't take kindly to that.” With that said the fight is

on,

Blows being landed back to back but quaritch definitely has the advantage with the knife in his hand. Just barely keeping up when I hear yelling from my side. I see the others have somehow captured spider. Slinging him over their shoulder to board the ship. The distraction costs me, for the next second there’s a knife now plugged into my side

“Let's see how long you last with that corporal”. Quaritch sarcastically says as he pulls the knife out and hustles over to the ropes to board the ship. All I can do is stumble away as I watch them get away in the midst of the smoke.

The knife wound in my side definitely is not fun. Jesus did he use the biggest thing he had. I'm resting against the side of a tree trying to keep the bleeding minimal. When the foliage in front of me moves to the side revealing a Navi woman with yellow face paint and a bow to my face.

“Wait wait, I'm friendly”. I try to get out as I try to show that I have no weapons but moving both hands is impossible unless I want to bleed out faster than I already am. She says something, probably signaling her companion as he now comes out or the foliage.

“Who are you, why did you help us”, he surprisingly says in English

“My name is Caspian Lane. I'm here to find my family.”

“Wait what did you say your name was”

The male asks and I finally look up. We both make eye contact and the longer i look at him the more recognizable he becomes

“Jake?….. is that really you.”

“How do you know me? who are you?”

“It’s me, Caspian,You and your brother practically raised me as a kid. That ringing any bells”

Jake steps towards me, the woman saying something to him but I guess by his words when he turns back to her she no longer considers me a threat as the arrow is no longer pointed at me.

“Are you really little Cassie?”

“Yup it's me jake it's really me.”

“How are you here? How are you Navi? I Have so many questions.”

“Oh trust me so do i but could you first help me out a little im kinda bleeding out”

“Oh shit” Jake comes to my side and lifts my hands to look at the wound. He curses under his breath as he begins to put pressure on the wound.

“Damn we need to get you taken care of, neytiri we need to get her to mo’at.

“Jake,bag there’s a cauterizer”

“What I'm not.”

“Jake im not going to make a journey with this kind of wound take the round device out of my pack and use it”

Jake hesitantly does as i say telling the woman to come and hold my side

“Listen i'm not gonna lie this is gonna hurt but i've got you little red i've got you

“Ha little red I haven’t been called that in.. ahhhhhhh”

All thought is gone from my head as the pain infiltrates. Until nothingness and the world goes dark.

Jakes pov

I can’t believe she’s here. How is this happening right now, the young girl I thought I'd never see again and unfortunately haven’t thought of in several years is here now in front of me as a Navi. She looks young about the age of neteyam. She looks the same and not, probably much like i did in the beginning when I transferred to my avatar. The wound wasn’t looking good.

“Neyteri come, I need you to hold her on the other side so she doesn’t jerk away when I do this.”

“Are you sure of the person ma jake”

“Yes I'll explain everything once we're out of here but first we need to help her.”

Turning back to Caspian, I take the tool in my hand and prepare to use it. I gently take her face in my palm to make her look into my eyes.

“Hey little red i've got you ive got you. I speak softly before beginning to cauterize the wound. Her scream resonates in my ears until i feel her body going limp

“Shit, cassy, caspian can you hear me.”

“She’s passed out from the pain ma jake we need to get her to mo’at.

“Yeah yeah I’ll grab her, can you grab her stuff.”

“Yes”

“Good come, let's go home. The kids are waiting.”

The sullys leave, venturing home with a very interesting friend in tow.

Sometimes we straight out get stumped. So every few months we will pick a Sunday when we’ll post of a list of asks that we need your help on. 

In this round, we are focusing on asks for specific stories.   If your ask for a more general “type of” story is not included, it does not mean we are ignoring it, it just means we need more time to research and answer these asks.

HEY B GIMMIE THAT SWEET SWEET RIVAL MATCHUP U ALREADY KNO

You already know who this is but ill still give u a hot rundown: My names Ally, im 20 years old 5’7’’ and a Leo/year of the dragon/INFP. She/They pronouns and im Pansexual but i dont think that matters much in this situation >:P. Appearance wise i have shoulder length curly red hair and green/grey eyes, suuuuper pale skin and freckles. Im def an ambivert, very protective of people who mean alot to me and kind of sharp tempered, especially when people start talking about shit they dont know anything about. Im also a pretty big perfectionist and people pleaser and will beat the FUCK outta myself if i feel like i let people down or made people upset when i could have helped it. But thats all about me, heres those wacky questions!

- Stated before, but im an August Leo! I would say my aura would probably be a pinkish/ purple color? For dislikes i def dont like bitter foods, being too hot, rumors, people talking behind my back, ppl who act like they know what theyre talking about, ppl cutting me off when i lose my train of thought, conservatives, not caring about climate change/the planet in general, tight or restrictive clothes, not having enough time in the day, capitalism, ect. Honestly the most off the wall thing for me that would make me throw hands on sight would probably be someone saying some shit about my close friends behind their back to me.

- Once when I was 14 me and about 10 other people squeezed into a mini van at about 3am and drove around the town, not a single one of us had a license or were over the age of 16, and we were all ridiculously drunk and high the entire time (except the driver. we were underage, not stupid). After driving halfway across the island we got pulled over by cop on the interstate, and he walked up to the car, looked at the driver, then into the passenger seat and saw literally 10 KIDS OBVIOUSLY DRINKING and the car absolutely reeked of bud, then looked back at the driver and simply told him “Your tail light is out. Get home safe” and drove away. Ive never seen god faster than that moment LMAO

- I could never willingly fight a raccoon, youre sick for suggesting that >:/ They are precious boys and ive saved too many from drowning in my pool for me to lay a finger on one. And as for dealbreakers? My biggest one in a relationship is cheating, but thats pretty basic LMAO. I would also say one that’s definitely second in rank would be expecting someone to stay the same through out the relationship and getting upset when the person changes. We are human beings and developing and growing, if you dont support me in that nothing is going to work. I explained a bunch of things i dislike in people above, but ill also add in here people who hurt animals in any way/ litter for no reason. If one of my friends throws a piece of trash out of my car im slammin on the brakes and youre getting out and picking it up. And god forBID you touch an animal around me il doing whatever you did to it to yourself no hesitation.

- I would hate being stuck in a room with anyone, i have decently bad claustrophobia and if we were in there for more than a day i would start bugging out LOL But probably the worst type of person would be someone who just doesn’t shut up and trys to act like they know everything. Those are like, the most insufferable people to me. ESPECIALLY if theyre wrong and refuse to admit it. Whenever i think of being locked in a room, somehow i always imagine like a dark navy blue room with one small window and completely empty floors and walls, everything made out of carpet. Dont ask me why, i have absolutely no clue.

In general:

I told you this yesterday but I wasn’t expecting you to send this in and must've spent like 5 straight minutes wheezing reading this. My gut reaction was Jeff, but based on what you wrote about the room, I’m going to say your enemy is actually Eyeless Jack!

Things he doesn’t like about you and how he pisses you off:

EJ doesn’t like that you’re a Leo. I’m not elaborating on that. He’s such a cold, clinical, heartless bastard that everything you are just goes against whatever tf he actually believes and acts as. I feel like you being a perfectionist would just brush against his perfectionist tendencies and habits. He’d say everything you’re doing is wrong. Just a dick. EJ may or may not exploit your weaknesses but that’s just because he thinks it’s fun and doesn’t like you.

EJ is a god of knowing what he’s talking about and it leads to this cocky, know it all attitude. It’s gonna brush you the wrong way. He knows that and takes joy in it. He will always attempt to one up you in knowledge and grin when he sees you falter. On the other end, if you catch him off guard he’s gonna be SO MAD. He will purposely turn up the heat in your presence just to make you upset. He will breathe down your neck and get in your personal space just to make you more uncomfortable. EJ isn’t anywhere NEAR a conservative or a climate change denier but he will take those positions just to make you mad and laugh over your attempts at arguing with him. Like Jeff, he’s a huge devil’s advocate and will start shit just because he can. I don’t actually think he’d talk about your friends negatively in front of you though, but he would definitely say stuff about you to your face.

EJ thinks it’s stupid you drank underage and will poke that memory. He will use insults about alcohol and the brain despite drinking a ton himself. If you call him out on it, he will fold. Literally throw everything he says about you back at him and he will get puffy and fast. EJ can’t always handle change that well so like, he’s a stubborn guy. Despite how logical he can be and how smart he is, socially he is so uncouth!! EJ doesn’t litter so you don’t have to worry about that but he’s definitely gonna do things that push your buttons, mostly say things that put you off. He’s not claustrophobic. He will put you in situations like that just because he can. The dark navy blue of his mask is going to haunt you. EJ will act like a god in your presence and snarl when you dare question his abilities. CALL HIM OUT. HUMBLE HIM PLEASE.

He agrees on the raccoon thing ngl. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but EJ has such a soft spot for animals - mostly birds - but he can’t fault you for the raccoon thing. He's also not too fond of litter so he has to agree with you on that one too.

Closing Thoughts/Other Things:

Knowing you for as long as I have, I was so, so ready to actually put you with Jeff. However, the more I read into this the more my intuition screeched that you would actually throw hands with EJ and I find that HILARIOUS. Just the arguments between you and this tall, muscular demon man is just - “what? What? WHAT” It’s beautiful. I’m serious, Merida vs. a literal demon. That’s all. Ily. <3
