My approach to flat colors + limited palette drawings
This is a follow up to this post  i made about how i go about figuring out a color palette for my limited palette drawings. an anon asked me about my actual technique of finishing them so this is gonna be an explanation of how I work in a limited palette with flat colors. I ended up with these thumbnails for a sketch last time so we’re gonna work from here and I’m gonna sort of walk through how i got to the finished version

first things first: every part of this process is just developed as a result of me messing around. take my advice with a grain of salt and if you think you know a way to do something better/that makes you more comfortable. go with that over what I say.
I’m honestly a little surprised when people express confusion about how i draw like this because it’s SUPER simple - literally all you’re doing is just stacking solid color blocks of shape. its very imprecise despite how sharp everything ends up looking. 
First things first is that you want to decide how you will be handling your edges throughout the duration. Do you want your shapes to be ultra-sharp and precise, or do you want a little bit of a wobblier, grainier edge? Both can look good but it’s VERY much a matter of situational basis. i’ve been favoring looser and grainier shapes so that’s how i’m going to be working on this.

on the left here, you can see the shapes made with precise rectangular selections and an untextured pen, on the right, freehand drawn shapes and a grittier pen. There’s something immediately pretty different feeling about them. So play around with that first - its not something that’s fun to change halfway through! But lets step back a minute. It helps to work large to small. The two biggest shapes here are these orange chunks and everything gets stacked on top of them so i’m gonna do that first. 
Now, a key feature of what i do: clipping masks. almost all digital art programs have them. What a clipping mask does is it constrains the pixels of a layer to the transparency of the layer below it. Here I have the light orange layer, and then on top of it the buildings and billboard are clipped to the orange. Most of you probably already know this and I’m overexplaining a bit, but there was a time when i didnt know how clipping layers worked and someone had to explain it to me.

now you’ll notice the shapes of the buildings are rough, and sloppy. here’s the fun part: since this is all about stacking shapes, only your exterior edges matter. this all gets filled in. be as sloppy as you want when you’re making your shapes. in fact, the outside edges get trimmed out a bunch to when i do this - i go in and erase them clean. Don’t be too finnicky about drawing perfect and precise! its a waste of time. As long as the silhouette is what you want, the interior can be a nightmare.
Working this way, it’s important to keep your layers stacked in a way you can make sense of. Right now there are four layers here: the background dark orange, the two main orange rectangle shapes, and then the buildings on one layer and a billboard on the other. I rack up a LOT of layers doing this and it makes it annoying in some aspects, but being able to freely recolor any one chunk without losing my detail is a key aspect of this.
So, I block those out

Next, I do the same for the smaller chunks that are still main shapes. There are once again, a lot of layers here. The top layer is the hair - you can see the head showing through it. The head and arm underneath the hair, same layer. Then the cup. Then the light green pieces of paper. Then the dark green ones.
The cup is technically farther forward than the head and arm so you would think it’d go on top, but the point isnt to recreate the foreground and background hierarchy with layers so much as it is to group things in a way i can work with. The cup goes underneath so it can be grouped with all the other objects on the table.

now, i just go and fill in all the shapes. i forgot to do the blinds but i get them later. you might notice a lot of these shapes are pretty rough, which was harder to notice before they were filled in. Now that I can see better, I go in with an eraser and clean up the edges until they’re the shape I want

sometimes erasing leaves little bits of ‘noise’ around objects like on this napkin here. i like to keep a little bit of this noise for texture, but if you dont like it make sure to get rid of it! if you’re working very crisp this will stand out a LOT
Next up is to add some detail onto the objects

I flipped the canvas here because the head shape was wrong - the ears were uneven and i wanted to fix it. I want to go about adding detail onto the billboard and buildings. i do all detail with clipping masks - but the objects are clipped to another layer and so nothing can be clipped to them. instead, i unclip them and just erase by selection for the same effect

all of the text on the papers is clipped to the papers below it. the buttons are clipped to the phone. the yellow photos and card are actually another independent layer on top, in case i want to recolor them separately. im indecisive and end up recoloring things a lot. For the most part these objects are starting to become recognizable as more than just shapes

i go in an add the details on the background and character now. theres some more stuff on the table. the lines of the face and ears are on one layer, and the flats of the eyes below that. Here’s what each group of layers is, and what they look like on their own

now this stage is the bare bones of the drawing. you can more or less tell everything that’s happening. it reads. but its very much lacking in something - it doesnt have a ton of depth or interest. and adding that additional detailing, the dept and interest, is where stuff starts getting REALLY tricky and subjective. 
im gonna take you to a much simpler scenario to show the sort of options i go through at this stage

ahh its our dear friend, sphere casting shadow. this is, more or less, the kind of image we have. you can tell whats happening but it’s lackluster. there are TONSSS of ways frm here that you can go add interior detail to a shape once it has been established. here are some quick and SUPER rough examples

from top left to bottom right: flat cel shading, softer airbrushed/gradient shading, halftone, and a textured brush. Each of these has their strengths and weaknesses. They can also be combined.

for example, here’s the solid cel shading being used to contain a gradient/airbrushed detail. This image - probably the single oldest piece of my art i still willingly show people - is entirely colored with gradients being contained in cel-shaded chunks. It has a sort of soft, luminous quality but without losing its crispness.

here’s a super quick bust with some variations of stuff going on. obviously this is no masterpiece but you see how different types of detailing can interact with each other and be used to distinguish materials too.

With the mob psycho comic I did, the detailing that wasnt line was done using a variety of halftones of different shapes layered on top of each other

any of them can work for pretty much anything as long as you are using it with intent. practice around. mix styles of finishing together. find a comfort zone. the more you do it the more intuitive it becomes and at the heart of it this process is a very intuitive way of drawing because of how far removed it is from realism.
Now here is the trick - light and shadow.
Everything up to this point has been very flat and adding detail helps but there’s only so much that can accomplish. To get HEAVY light and shadow you need to think about things differently. I think if there’s any part of this process that’s complicated, its this one. 
To truly get the most out of your palette, you need to pick chunks of an image to be in higher/lower light and then either ‘step up’ or ‘step down’ the colors in that chunk. here’s what I mean.

Here’s our ball with a beam of light on it. Everything Within the beam of light is one step in our limited palette lighter than anything outside of it. Here’s how I go about doing this: the shape of the beam of light is below everything else. Then, once I have the shape blocked out, i select it. With that selection in place, i go to EVERY SINGLE LAYER that’s effected, lock the opacity, and recolor that chunk. So what’s going on here is that there is only one more layer - the beam of light, below everything but the background, and the rest of this effect is just caused by every layer above it now being two-toned following the exact same silhouette. THIS is why it’s so important to keep your layers separate - if the shadow and highlight had been painted onto the base directly, i would not be able to do this without significant effort. 
This works with all of the finishing techniques I talked about above

A combination of cel shading and half toning, all stepped up to give the appearance of heavier light on one area.This is also how I go about rendering transparency in this style. All of my layers are fully opaque and I allow the colors to do the work of conveying transparent material

it’s obviously not a very representational way of working, but as long as your audience UNDERSTANDS what you’re trying to convey, then you’re executing it successfully.
So with that, now we’re gonna go and finish this drawing.
For this one, I decide a big central shadow is necessary. In the original thumbnail, he was backlit, which I still plan on doing, and that wouldn’t make sense without casting a shadow.

I’ve had to change the colors of some objects entirely in order to get this to work right. This is what I mean when I call this an intuitive process - some stuff felt weird, so I changed it. This also involves a bit of problem solving. The newspaper is now unable to be separated from his hand. Sometimes changing the color of an object makes that object look better, but ruins its relationship with the objects around it. It’s up to you to learn how to adjust and finagle things until you get it where you want.The paper he has and the napkin underneath it also all blend together now.
The next few parts of this process are REALLY just trial and error, where I toss a bunch of spaghetti at it until it works. It’s hard to decide what to screenshot, because I don’t know what will or will not be part of the finished drawing. To that end, you can watch the recording of this drawing here. This video isn’t edited at all so it contains a couple of minutes of really shitty sketching, and then all of the color thumbnailing work i did in the last post. Actually getting started on these final colors begins around the two minute mark. It is also sideways, I am sorry I don’t know why.

Now, here you can see where I’ve more or less worked things out. His hand’s not on the cup anymore because my friend pointed out it didnt have an arm attached to it. I added some halftoning to make a gradiating effect in the sky and on the table to give the impression of a sunrise. His eyes are different but as of posting this, I don’t like them and am probably about to go back and change them again. The Cup now has a shadow and some rim lighting. His hand is in shadow. The stain on the napkin is big enough to define the edge of the paper on top of it.
Little things like that. 
The more you draw like this the more the way you need to think about your space becomes natural. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best of luck!

therefore you and me post-production notes (or: murphy’s law as a project that has been two years in the making)
ive had this idea for ‘therefore you and me’ and Fritz ever since i first played CindPhenon. nothing ever fell into place until i played Evermore though, so here we are!
drafting this project was pretty easy tbh (see: hubris). the parallel imagery and everything about the lyrics was right up my alley aha.
fun thing with the lyrics: TadanoCo uses ‘要る (iru)’ in the line ‘Which do you want (iru)? Or do you want neither (iranai; aka negative form of ‘iru’)?’
‘ 要る ‘ as a verb can mean ‘to be wanted’ or ‘to be needed’. 
hence, the line can also be read: ‘Which do you need? Or do you need neither?” or any other variation of the verb’s usage. 
it’s halfway through drawing the lineart that murphy’s law began. 1) i drew ~15 panels on the wrong dimensions, and had to redraw them all (lol), re-grey tone (LOL), and re-ink (LOLOL). it was not a fun three days.
then i lost momentum because of lunar new year (happy late lunar new year btw! happy year of the ox :”) )
anyway: the moment i regained momentum for the project again, i hit a roadblock in the form of overconfident, sloppy drafting (see: hubris is my downfall). 
because of the lack of clear drafting for certain panels (and changes to previous panels), i had to redraft two different sections of the PV while keeping in mind that there was the bridge still to be drafted. fun ! 
i decided to simplify the bridge. can you believe it was supposed to be another animation. i can’t. so i scrapped it.
(slight tangent. Evermore’s release honestly cleared up a lot of uncertainty regarding the direction of the PV and whether or not to include Fritz’s mother (who I still fondly call Beatrice). im really happy the PV never came to fruition before Evermore’s release, as im not sure i would have done half as good a job without Evermore’s content.)
back to the hubris of proceeding with a messy draft - there was a lot of push and pull internally for me as to how much i should keep to the original PV and how much i should just put my spin on things. i ended up doing a bit of half-and-half, i think. 
but really, it only delayed things as i ended up redrafting and having multiple drafts of certain panels haha//
the last two choruses were honestly my favourite parts to draw. the shift from Varg’s clothes and colours to Fritz, Fritz’s acceptance of Varg and the soft way Varg looks at Fritz (and no one else). there’s something cathartic about acceptance and acknowledgement. i think that’s what i aimed to really capture.
also: in between drawing all the panels, murphy’s law 2) my Evermore itchio game file ? got deleted off my computer ? 
it’s a very old, barely functional brick so im lowkey unsurprised but at the same time it was a crazy experience and setback when i needed to reference certain scenes. oh, and Steam decided to not download Evermore too. i still haven’t fixed that one. haha. ha.
i have screenshot posters to thank for uploads of certain CGs, although im still pretty sure its best not to post a ton of those publicly at one shot?
also, i had to scrap the recreation of the famous ‘did you love Varg’ scene because of this aha. looking back now, i think it worked out. 
(another tangent: using referencing as an excuse, i actually took the opportunity to replay Fritz’s route for the third time. i ended up checking nothing at all and falling in love with the masquerade scene again.) 
up till the very end, im still not sure if everyone got that the line “You are love itself.” was meant to be said by Lucette to Fritz. i colour-coded Lucette with her own unique blue for the PV, which was the same hue as the line. i hope that it got across, aha.
with that said, video production was a whole entanglement in and of itself. i think murphy’s law really took up a hammer and swung hard at this stage.
timing was actual hell. im usually not this bad at it, but this project in particular was tricky bc TadanoCo uses a lot of background beats that aren’t overt, which his PV also matches - i think? or maybe im just not good at recognising beats from lack of video/music production haha//
hence there were certain scenes i was stuck at and kept revising because i wasnt clear where the beat was meant to be, what transitions i should use, and when the transitions should be.
subtitling was actually really fun! until i rendered my first version and realised all the subtitles were completely off and blurry.
turns out my project properties were different from my video properties, hence the off-alignment. huh. didnt know those were Actual Things(tm). 
also, quick tip to all vid-making amateurs like me out there: you may have to double the dimensions of the font’s media properties if you dont want them to come out fuzzy. another thing i didnt know lol. 
anyway all this lead to: me needing to spend another evening to redo subtitles. haha. it was not a fun two back-to-back 3am nights + extra evening afterward.
in between all this was countless rendering tests to guess-and-check what’s causing numerous errors in the video btw.
and with those rendering tests came: glaring mistakes in the panel art that i only now spotted and had to fix, and refix, and refix again. then reimport into sony vegas, put it into the video, render and double check if it’s alright. rinse and repeat countless times ! haha ! PV making is fun !
i think i nearly redid a certain scene with the exact same panels once. like i said: not a fun two 3am nights.
that said: i dont know how all this technical issues (and more) popped up and were resolved over two 3am nights and one evening. im not about to question it either. 
at this point: panel art - fixed ! subtitling all redone ! render works fine, everything checks out.
i make the mistake of uploading it directly to yt instead of leaving it unlisted first.
murphy’s law 3) when im watching the vid on yt, the yellow parts in the second verse were completely unable to be seen. 
panic put it on unlisted. people are already watching it and leaving (very sweet) comments. panic delete it.
btw if you’re one of the first three commenters reading this: thank you for the quick response !! it means a lot and made me really flustered in a good way :”))
cue me re-colouring those scenes, redo-ing the section and oops, is that a panel in the masquerade scene where Fritz literally is missing his mask ??? 
i think i lost my mind entirely at this point. from then on i was fueled by spite to complete this cursed project.
at thereforeFINAL.mp4, (version five of the full PV, version maybe 10-11 of all the rendered videos, including tests) finally. finally it is done. 
i upload it.

(except, not really. because here you are at post-production notes detailing the worst luck i’ve ever had with PV making. 
i learnt a lot from this though, and honestly on hindsight i should have learnt all these from my first PV but nothing went wrong at this magnitude so i kinda just...shelved it aha//
but really, im relieved it turned out well, and that i took the time to redo scenes until i was satisfied. for a PV that’s been waiting in the background for two years now, i think this is the least it deserves. 
if the comic about Fritz and Varg (which i referenced in one of the last choruses, i wonder if anyone caught that?) was meant to be a love letter to Fritz’s route, i think this PV ought to be a tribute to the character himself. 
although - hm, this isn’t quite as good a tribute to Fritz as it is to his route, maybe? i don’t know, haha ! maybe it’s just myself wanting to make excuses to create more for him//
i was thinking of continuing on about the PV and it’s significance to Fritz and Varg, but hm. maybe not on this post. maybe some other one, some other time.
but at it’s core, at it’s simplest, most raw - i think i just wanted to explore what it means to Fritz to ‘want’ and to ‘need’ with this PV.

The most Jungkook had done in three rounds was putting his sweaty armpit dangerously close to Jimin’s face – to which Jimin didn’t even flinch, for sake of information, just grimaced and called him a ‘gross pig’ under his breath (that was happily caged inside his lungs, because he was most definitely not smelling the stink under Jungkook’s arms, thank you very much). “Is that all you got?” Jimin teases, getting closer, holding back his laugh at Jungkook’s wide eyes. He keeps the straight face, taking small steps forward and pushing Jungkook backwards with him until his back hits the wall. He lowers down his gaze to Jungkook’s throat just in time to catch him gulping and smiles in victory. Jungkook is about to overcome his thundering heart and form a sentence, when Jimin kneels down before him and Jungkook’s eyes go wide. “H-hyung?” Jimin smirks, not breaking eye contact for a second, and slowly extends his left arm to the side, grabbing Jungkook’s phone on the floor. He gets up on his feet to face a very confused – and mildly breathless, Jimin proudly realizes – maknae. “Here. Text Namjoon-hyung and say: hyung, I think I’m im love with you.” “What?!” Jungkook almost chokes.Jimin shrugs, a nonchalantly smirk dwelling in the corner of his lips. “That’s me teaching you how the real game is meant to be played. Go for it, my brave boy.” He whispers, bitting down his bottom lip to contain a victory smile.But against all expectations, Jungkook does send the message, rendering Jimin speechless for a second or two. “Surprised?” he asks, voice lower than Jimin is used to listening. Jungkook is tall. Very tall, Jimin remembers, as he has to slightly tilt his head back to properly look at his face. Also, Jungkook’s eyes are shining. Despite from all the shadows trying to cover his features, his eyes are shining with a glow Jimin doesn’t quite recognize. It settles an unfamiliar restlessness on his muscles. “Good to know we’re now playing dirty.” Jungkook hums and Jimin feels his hot breath hitting his lips. His heart pace increases for no apparent – or logical – reason, and his fingertips tingle with unknown anticipation. “It’s my turn.” Jimin barely has time to utter a word before his shoulders are being grabbed and his back is being roughly slammed against the wall, all oxygen violently punched out of his lungs. He looks up, confusion molding his features, but he doesn’t find the usual innocence he so much adores in Jungkook’s eyes. He finds a pair of dark irises and dilated pupils staring back at him, the hint of an eerie lust hidden in the way he licks his lips and lowers his eyes to Jimin’s mouth. Jimin fists the front of his tshirt to draw his attention back.“W-what–“However, all his senses shut down when Jungkook’s cold fingers surges on the sharp bulge of his hipbone, thumbs caressing the skin ever so slowly. Jimin’s eyes fall closed and his breath hitches, every allusion of sentence menacing to be said, dying on his throat. He can feel his chest constricting in an oddly pleasurable arousal when Jungkook drags his hands up, delineating the curve of his waist with his palms, and then feeling the ledge of his abs with his fingertips, the touch leaving heat traces all over his skin. Jungkook’s hot air enters his mouth and that’s when Jimin realizes he’s been holding his own back.“That’s me teaching you how the real game is meant to be played.” The younger’s reuse of his words reaches his ears at the same time he opens his eyes, just to be welcomed with the most annoyingly attractive smirk he has ever faced. Jimin wants to punch it away. He raises his chin just the slightest bit up, a sudden desire to win washing all over him and pooling on his stomach with a restlessness that burns and sends heat shooting up his spine – swallowing all the nervousness to the tip, and replacing it with some thing Jimin is not so sure about wanting to figure out. Jungkook can’t seem to stop staring at his lips. Jimin watches his face with half lided eyes and a heart beating on his throat. “Then I guess you should try harder.” His words resound through a soft murmur lost in the silence of the room, when he takes Jungkook’s neck on his hands and pulls it down to be met with his lips halfway. The younger’s skin is cold, but Jimin warms it with his tongue and lips, sucking muscle and flesh hard enough to hear Jungkook deeply inhaling a sharp breath. His fingers are digging into Jimin’s hips, and Jimin feels nails when he drags his lips up, hot breath hitting the wet mark of saliva he has left behind, making Jungkook shiver. He noses his way up the younger’s neck, tangling his fingers on his hair and softly kissing every inch of exposed skin he’s met until he reaches Jungkook’s ear. He uses his teeth to scratch the lobe with the most of delicacy he possesses, so he can whisper.“Your turn.” Jungkook is heavily breathing with closed eyes, Jimin realizes when he pulls back to face the boy. He bites back a proud smile.The younger boy doesn’t flinch or move for the next ten seconds, which gets Jimin tiptoeing his way up to face him on the same height level. He is about to pull his best smug of victory along with a cheesy made up phrase to annoy the shit out of Jeon Jungkook, when Jungkook suddenly presses his body harder against Jimin’s, supporting his weight with an elbow resting by the side of the older’s head. Jungkook sees the sea of different brown hues staring back at him through wide eyes, closer than ever – and to be honest, he wants nothing more than to dive into them, to drown in its depth and be overwhelmed by its intensity. He wants so much it’s starting to hurt.“Hyung.” He warns, voice rough. “I’m not gonna lose.” Jimin blinks, eyelashes heavy with expectation, hands tightening around the fabric of Jungkook’s tshirt.“Me neither.” Jungkook leans closer slowly, Jimin almost feels teased – on the verge of having a cardiac arrest from how fast his heart has been beating for the past minutes. His eyes flutter closed when he feels the tip of Jungkook’s nose touching his. His lips are burning somehow, yelling to be kissed – the smell of the younger’s skin useful as no help to calm down his stomach. How can he smell good after hours of practice? Or maybe he doesn’t and Jimin is just crazy. Yes. He probably is. Completely insane. And why isn’t Jungkook’s lips glued to his already?He is about to open his eyes to understand what the hell is going on when ge feels the wetness of Jungkook’s mouth on his jawline. It’s soft and tender, and it makes him dizzy to the fingertips, because– isn’t that game supposed to be nerve-wracking and rough? Why is he feeling loved?Jimin turns his head to the other side unconsciously, so Jungkook trails the line of his sharp jawline with his lips, holding harder on his bare waist beneath the tshirt and pulling his body closer to his, craving the warmth that his skin exhales. Jimin’s chest is rosing up and down repeatedly, but it’s when Jungkook lighly suck at the skin right below his ear that Jimin moans. And something twitches inside Jungkook’s chest. He nips at the flesh by the side of his neck as a test, just to hear the same sound crawling out of Jimin’s throat again – low and needy. He chases Jungkook’s mouth like a predator, thirsty for the taste lingering on his lips, sucking and bitting his bottom lip, until Jungkook is groaning, grabbing his thighs and pulling him up. God. Jimin is losing his mind.He straddles Jungkook’s hips with his thighs, locking his ankles on the end of his back, and Jungkook takes the chance of the height difference to get back on Jimin’s neck. He is addicted, he knows, but the sound Jimin makes when he sucks and licks the right spots is enough to send him shooting up the sky. “Jung…Jungkook.” Jimin breathes out, and his legs are sliding down Jungkook’s body, so Jungkook hops him up, switching his hands from Jimin’s thighs to his ass and god. He bites down the curve of Jimin’s neck so hard he feels the boy shrinking. “Sorry.” He utters, voice hoarse like never before. His cheek is pressed against Jimin’s collarbone and he stays there for a second, lungs burning for air. “You’re driving me crazy.”  Jimin lazily smiles, looking down. Jungkook pulls back to look at his face, and he has all air squeezed out of him a second time in that night. Shit.“…what?” Jimin furrows his brows at Jungkook’s odd expression. ��What’s wrong?” Jungkook takes more time than he thinks he should to answer. But he can’t help it. He’s stunned.“Jungkook?” “Nothing, just– I…” he lifts his eyes to meet Jimin’s. “You’re beautiful.” Jimin’s mouth fall open to form some kind of response, but he’s rendered speechless, cheeks flushing redder than his bruised lips. It’s the most adorable thing in the world. Jungkook doesn’t let him answer.He kisses his mouth with a different kind of need this time, kisses him until both of them forget how to speak, how to breath – until the only thought in the back of his mind is Park Jimin’s face and nothing more.

my TROS thoughts (spoilers under the cut)
oh man this trilogy was such a mess and TROS really cemented it. let me count just some of the sins:
- reylo. yes, pair our first female jedi lead with a mass murdering, violent, mind-rapey toad. i don’t even care that he died, it was too late to redeem him at this point. bye felicia
- PALPATINE WAS BEHIND IT ALL ALONG!! despite. not even being fucking mentioned in eps 7 and 8 but lol foreshadowing who needs that? they fucking pantsed this entire trilogy and it shows TERRIBLY. for all their flaws at least the prequels had an actual arc and like. built on each other
- poe’s entire “have i mentioned i am heterosexual today” subplot with that random woman from his past he kept making sex eyes at. wtf finn is right there
- WHAT WAS FINN GOING TO TELL REY????
- so palpatine didn’t die in ROTJ....meaning anakin’s entire arc to bring balance to the force by killing him was pointless. this movie just shat on episodes 1-6.
- look ok i dont like the “rey is a mary sue” argument but like...why did she randomly know how to force heal?? why did kylo know??? how did rey learn that from a BOOK??? THAT SHIT IS HARD ANAKIN COULDN’T EVEN DO IT??? THAT’S LITERALLY WHY HE WENT DARK??? i....what ffs they didn’t even TRY to explain
- leave rose at the base because she didn’t get shafted enough in TLJ apparently....fucking christ
- OFC POE IS A FORMER SPICE SMUGGLER COS WE HAVE TO WORK IN DODGY LATINO STEREOTYPES SOMEHOW
- you got hayden to record lines for this movie and yet...we couldn’t get anakin force ghost...have you forgotten who the most important character in the saga is....i....THE AMOUNT OF SHOEHORNED FANSERVICE AND THIS IS THE ///ONE/// THING THAT WAS IGNORED??

- battle of mustafar 2.0 but like, wet. and worse.
- WHO THE FUCK BONED PALPATINE??? this is cursed child all over again fuck, literally they just copied the “young female MC is descendant of the original story’s 70+ y/o ugly af big bad that you don’t want to picture having boned anyone buT TOUGH WE PUT THAT IMAGE IN YOUR HEAD” like WHY IS THIS A TROPE THAT NEEDS REPEATING
- love that we learned literally nothing about rey’s parents beyond her dad being palpatine’s son and they tried to protect her from him? WHY. WHY SHOULD WE CARE AT THIS POINT
- ok i know they were severely limited with what they could do with leia because of carrie dying before the movie was made but. she literally laid down and fucking died. i-

- lando is so blatantly jannah’s dad but honestly after the rey mess i literally dont give a shit any more about whose kid is whose
- so yeah the sequel trilogy is a hodgepodge mess of good things from the OT cut up and rearranged with new characters who don’t reach their potential and deserved better, and halfway through the movie i realised i really didn’t care that much any more about what happened. they have barely expanded the universe or lore with THREE films and in fact all they did was render the previous movies completely redundant. TFA was so good and then it went so south......im so glad it’s over honestly i don’t want to see any more skywalker saga content i just want my spin-off material....gonna go live in my rogue one hole, bye
