90s nostalgia isn't cool anymore, its all about that early aughts nostalgia, so I propose we have transparent plastic prosthetic limbs, like those bootleg PS2/Wii controllers Touchstones: Bubblegum Crisis, 90s Cyberpunk Anime in general

Genre: Cyberpunk What is this game?: Hardwired Island is a cyberpunk game about being broke citizens in the first space station city on earth 

How's the gameplay?: Hardwired Island uses a 2d6+Bonus system, inspired by PBTA, but the game itself isn't exactly that. Hardwired's character creation is one of its big draws, being fairly simple but allowing many different character concepts, maybe you're an android street fighter, wanting to enter the big leagues, or an ex-military drone operator, wanting to atone for your crimes, character creation works by picking a background, Occupation, and 2 traits, which lets you get really flexible with your character! Backgrounds have misc abilities and determine your character's skills (which you get to create yourself, so if you want your character to be really good at niche internet drama, you can!), Occupations give you powerful abilities that make you really good at things that other people can do worse, and traits are just random abilities and events in your character's history. The Big Thing about Hardwired is its financial shock system, whenever your character makes a big purchase, such as for example a prosthetic, they might get more financial stress, which can end up leading them into a crisis, where they might need to reach out to a friend to get a place to stay, or move back with their parents, or make shady deals with the mafia, and so on. Hardwired's mechanics are Narrative-first, meaning they exist to create interesting drama for characters, and that makes it a very fun system for just making cool stories

What's the setting (If any) like?: Hardwired takes place in the far future of 2020, on a giant space station city, where the rich prosper and the poor toil. Hardwired is really keen on the "boring dystopia" aspect, there's definitely interesting stuff! but players are assumed to be common laymen trying their best to get by, of course this doesn't mean their ADVENTURES have to be boring! a package delivery gig could end with dealing with the strange Dreamers, bizarre AI with weird powers, or an investigation on an anonymous street artist could end in inciting a riot against a local bank, and so on!

What's the tone?: Hardwired will try to crush your players, it is not a pleasant world, there's kindness everywhere, and good people to be found, but the world is overwhelmingly against you

Session length: 1-2 hours is realistic enough

Number of Players: 4-6 is the recommended amount by me!

Malleability: Hardwired's mechanics are kinda rooted in its setting, but a crafty GM could likely do something interesting with them, I've been working on a hack for my own cyberpunk setting, for example!

Resources: a Google Sheet is available, and that's honestly kinda all you need, its not a very complex system. There's two or so expansions, one of them includes a playable cat occupation!

So I hesitated a lil on posting this game because i know people have Opinions on this game, but this game's great and im tired of pretending its not. It's a definite must play for any cyberpunk fan, in my opinion

uhhhh basically she's a hybrid shang tsung made using mileena's, tanya's and his own DNA So because mileena has tarkat ofc she ended up being born with it But 'cause her DNA is mixed with two people who dont have tarkat (...) the density of the cells in her blood is lower (guy who makes shit up about fictional disease) and so she still has mild deformities but doesnt suffer from bloodlust and concluded she cant be consumed by disease like others

Hypognosis post 3: Combat, Positioning

So, where to begin with a big chunky combat game. Well, I think the most distinctive part of Hypognosis is how characters move; specifically, the way they move about the scene in relation to each other without being constrained and “stuck” in place on a grid. Hypognosis uses a grid-less positioning system, and also doesn’t use measuring tape to section out how many inches a character can move.

Instead, every movement in Hypognosis is made in relation to other characters. Want your character to dodge? They have to physically move away from the blow, backing up far enough to be out of the enemy's reach. is your enemy using a spear? You can draw a knife and charge, catching the spearhead on your shield to deflect it. You move your character to “pressed,” your character’s tokens touching, and they have neither the time nor the space to protect themself as you strike.

Locked in a fencer’s duel? Both characters flit in and out of the other’s range, lunging in to poke before parrying and flinging themselves away. Battles travel from one side of the table to the other, combatants leaving one altercation to come crashing into another, gauging the risk of approaching and feinting to form an opening to pounce. 

When a character puts distance between themselves and anyone else in the scene, they become their own little island. The placement can be arbitrary, wherever everyone fits, because the important thing is that you track who is close to who, not the exact angles between them.

So, *why* did I make it like this? Personally i don't think that the grid of many a tactics game evokes the type of fight that i feel is most exciting. If I’m playing melee in many, many games, my character’s “speed” stat only serves a purpose when an enemy isn’t in my range, to tell me if I get to move close enough to have a turn. And if the number isn’t big enough, I don’t get to play.

With this more loose system, rushing into combat becomes less about one charge to get into range, and more about a *chase.* the sort of scene I want to evoke when one character flees from another isn’t the rubber-banding of their movement on their distinct turns, where one character moves 60 ft and then patiently waits for the other character to catch up before doing it again.

Instead, the fleeing character looks back to see that the pursuing one is still *terrifyingly* close, as they run at the same time. To gain distance, the fleeing character does their best to create that space by creating obstacles. They throw doors shut behind them, knock over objects into choke points and seek to gain a height advantage when they can until they can either flee the scene outright or buy enough time for their allies to swoop in and occupy the pursuer. 

Talking about the *exact* specifics isn’t what I want to bore yall with at the moment, there’ll be plenty of time for that when I release a playable draft. But like I said in the previous post, this is all about intention. Tons of games have gridless systems, this isn’t unique in that regard. But I feel that in concert with the game’s other systems, I’ve hit upon an engine for combat that lets some really cool moments flow out of the mechanics organically. And *that* fundamentally has always been the goal.

Eventually, I’m going to cover action economy, how to assemble a pool of dice for an attack, and so on. But the next post will be a follow-up to this one, since I’m *thrilled* to introduce the formation/group action system, where an entire group of characters can act as one in a cohesive phalanx. I’ve managed to make a system where all attack rolls are resolved in a single roll of a pool of dice, even when dozens of characters are attacking in tandem, and im very excited to show it off.

the chain's favorite places in wild's hyrule

so i replayed totk earlier this year and while i was playing it got me thinking "what places in wild's hyrule would be the chain's favorite" and here's what i think

sky: the sky islands, obviously. but specifically I think he would LOV the diving challenge islands. i feel like wild would 100% get him a set of diving gear and they would have competitions on who could dive the best (spoilers: its sky. it always sky. wild whines and says that sky is cheating/has an unfair advantage every time)

hyrule: the fairy fountains in the sky. theres just something so calming and peaceful about them and fae!hyrule absolutely loves just staying up there chatting with his sisters. i think he would also like the areas where the great fairies are for similar reasons.

twilight: hateno village 100%. wild lets it slip that his hyrule just discovered how to make cheese and twilight nearly loses his mind and demands wild take him to hateno immediately. i imagine him and the farmers would be on really good terms and he would spend all his time chatting there.

four: lookout landing and its because purah, flora, and robbie are there. once he gets over the truly horrific creations wild is able to make using the fuse mechanic he demands to learn everything about zonai tech. he also likes the akkala zonai survery team spot for similar reasons and loses his mind when wild shows off his hoverbike.

legend and time: im combining both of them because i feel like both of them would Really like kakariko village. kakariko in totk feels like a quieter but still busy version of hateno and i feel like legend and time would absolutely Love it there. just peaceful vibes, helping out the survery team there occasionally, and i feel like they both would get along with paya super well.

wind: lurelin village. this is the most obvious answer bc i feel like lurelin would remind him a lot of his own home + i also think he would love the sky islands as a whole. especially once he learns that there's a way to Ride the Dragons.

(Hoborg is sitting at the Pin Island next to Klogg who seems to be chilling. Hoborg holds a yellow letter; these are used to pass the question to characters in these askblog posts. Most of the stuff that follows is told by Hoborg off-screen in his thoughts, so it's not all vocal but text still belongs to him.)

Hoborg: I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly but... I'm afraid you'll be disappointed with my answer. The thing is, I already do love him. But unity in such things is needed from both sides, no? I can't make him love me back, that's just cruel! I can't even make him feel sympathy towards me, it goes against what I've put into my creations... They have to choose on their own what they like and what they feel towards certain things. But even if I can't make Klogg do everything I want... I still have some responsibility before those I've created. They need to have at least someone to rely upon. Someone to love them for simply existing! At the end I've made myself friends to make it all less lonely and I love them all... there's no other way! That's why I love him, too... even though a lot of people find him scary or annoying, he's still one of us.

(He looks over at Klogg who's making a paper plane. Then suddenly he bends over and hugs him, speaking into his shoulder.)

H: It's all gonna be alright.

SHANG TSUNG'S ISLAND

The island: absolutely breathtaking views. Tropical paradise. Various old structures and architecture of many many various eras and dynasties of China. Sometimes you can feel the island like it's alive....how ominous. Shang tsung says the island is in a realm of its own. A pocket dimension,not quite affected the same way as the realms it connects to. It sorta of is timeless,much like the man who rules it...still wonder what he means by this.

But overall it has lovely shores and beaches. Lavish courtyards and gardens. It has an upper courtyard,and lower. The Lower courtyard is mostly for guests,kombatants when there is a tournament,servents and guards. The upper courtyard is for me and shang tsung. He doesn't let anyone wander around in it unless he invites you. Which he does rarely.

The interior: the interior is traditional but has modern facilities. (Look shang is old but come on man!)

Tho he does have a traditional kitchen and a modern. But the modern one is his personal one near his living quarters. The rest of the inner palace is still got an old school vibe.

The inner palace/private living quarters:The bed chambers is lavish. Large. Silks,velvets,gold,red. *sigh* . Beautiful.

Shang's private kitchen,bathroom,hot spring,etc is all connected.

Armor/clothing:has beautiful armor and a ceremonial sword in his bed chambers too.

Some armor is for kombat. Some is ceremonial. Either way it's always beautiful to look at.

I too have lovely outfits. Aren't they great?

My magic apprentice outfit. Sorceress in training if you will. (Not exactly how i had it,but it was closest to i could find)

Also our accessories too

Shang and i (lady tsung) have snake rings. A pendent that helps my magic training. Master tsung has a snake flask(with what alcohol or its contents, i dare not ask him) and a dragon pipe for Tobacco(or other substances im sure).

Throne room:Shang tsung's throne room is also breathtaking. A Large room,holden dragons,the tournament master private dining room, a small courtyard next to it. Isn't it lovely?

His chair and also the outside gates to the inner palace.

HI HELLOso this is a very out of the blue question but if u feel ok sharing how did u go about making ur whf ocs into their own original universe?? a close pal of mine and i have been into whf for years and we still love it but want to separate the ocs we made for it into our own universe w some of the same general themes, so i guess what im asking is, do u have any advice from ur own experience of doing that? u dont have to answer this if u dont want to btw no pressure :3

so i've been thinking on how to answer this one, since i struggle to put concepts into understandable words and honestly i would consider asking @theshiaxartist about it as well as he's the one i did this with, he's usually better at explaining things in my opinion, plus multiple perspectives always helps :>

so me n shiax looked at our ocs and the relations we'd built between them and decided we didn't want to change that, so we just kinda, transplanted it over

are we using whf itself? no, but we are using a lot of the concepts that play major parts in it: -completely isolated island -major mood changing and manipulating drugs -it was supposed to be a better place and ended in dystopia and destruction -etc etc

we took this concept and moved it over to a technically premade world (in actuality it was just bits n pieces of worlds that we'd both made but no longer has use for and so just slapped them all together, we're still constantly adding and developing to it, friend's connected universes are real)

i suppose why it seems like they're no longer fan ocs now is that we're not currently in that portion of the timeline, we've moved on

for us, the events of the isle (our stand in for whf) happened, it is a very important part of the oc's backstory and character development, without it they'd be completely different people but canonly, where we are in the timeline of things is roughly 2-5 years after they escaped and the isle essentially had a nuclear meltdown

we made them our own sorta, think kinda like how aus take the base content and shift it slightly to the left (yes they can shift further out but for the sake of things here, just a little for now)

its a simple and easy option and i think people are a little afraid of ideas being too similar but being heavily inspired is better than being stuck

worlds are large and ocs are fictional have fun

i suppose for tips tho:

-figure out what really makes the ocs, well them, what major events and relations are required for them to stay as they are, keep those or find something similar enough to get the right outcome

-building a whole new world for them can be fun, but it can also get you stuck up in minute details or floundering to have everything explained, it's ok for characters to exist in a void until you can fill it with something (you should also ask shiax about this, his world building is always really fun and he's great for like, looking at how things actually work together, ie. if there's 2 moons, how does that impact things)

-frankly, don't be scared to just rehaul as well, some ideas simply won't work in certain contexts and you'll have to figure something else out

-you are free to play around, nothing is set in stone, make as many different possible worlds and lands and settings until you find the one that sticks people get stuck on making it right the first time and this applies to oc creation too

i know this doesn't really like, set you in a definite direction, but creation is fickle and whimsical like that

hello! this (will be) the home of an upcoming cat comic called cats of the isle! currently i am going to be using this to post concepts and ideas i have before Fully embarking on creating the comic. just to test the waters, haha.

a short blurb for the comic:

"on an island cut off from the rest of the world, a small group of cats has thrived for moons without any external contact. not from the living, and more importantly, not from the dead. that is, until a young cat named plum begins speaking of strange apparitions and visions, ghostly cats that call to her from beyond the grave.

the comic obviously takes some inspiration from the warriors series, but a lot of it is also my own creation! i hope anyone who stumbles across this blog enjoys the story im creating :3

OKAY SO ive done art for this one!!! my little fedsona!!! But i also have an islandersona!!!

My Fedsona is WA05 (cuz 5 is my fav number) theyre a little white bear worker whos a huge hopeless romantic NERD they have a crush on like 5 dif people at once and no way to express it without melting into a little bear puddle

my islandersona, my cubito, is based on my persona that i use for art !! They are a fallen angel/demon who was cast out of heaven for sins against the nature of humanity. In my cubitos lore they created their own version of the heavens and earths and hell, and gave pieces of their soul to do so. However this was against heavens rules, and they were cast out of heaven. They find solace in their creation, molding it to their liking without the restrictions of heaven, watching their people kill eachother and fall in love etc etc. They have no moral compass and dont really have a concept of good, evil, etc. Kind of how adam and eve were in the garden! Thats how all angels/divine beings are in the lore however. Some fallen angels can learn human morality but its not very common!

31. What lore/arc have you enjoyed the most?

This one is soooo hard because i joined at such an awkward time that im not elaborating on, BUT i think my favorite one has been BBH's death/rebirth cycle. I may be a little biased because hes my main pov but i prefer player based lore and angst and bad's lore so far has been VERY rewarding to his viewers. He's genuinely such a good writer, cant wait for more of his character

The Gods.

hihihihihihi, so basically this is mostly for @star-realities but im making it public cause yes. hope this is helpful so basically, im writing a book series, and my big idea was to make design gods for the world inspired by me and the friends i created the world for. there've been multiple versions of this series but the very first was based on me and 3 of my friends. I found it fitting to make us the gods of the world because if it weren't for us, the book nor the world it takes place in would exist.

so these are us, i made the photos on picrew (@/hunbloom). but anyways here's the actual lore. basically Achaii woke up one day bored as hell and said "damn, this thing we live in is bland as hell. imma spice it up" and grabbed their paintbrush and made the sky. Legends say they still paint the sky every night and morning.

Evanitis saw this and joined in making greenery. The two enjoyed their freedom and the other two watched. Zacharaea and Maion never really liked each other but they both loved Ace and Evan. Then Zach wanted to join in, so he and Evan made fire by accident. Zach, overwhelmed by pride cried, and Ace stepped in to make the oceans and rivers to store the tears of Zach and later on the others. The tear thing is important later. Mae blew the fire out to keep it from spreading, they all knew the power that their creations had.

After Mae had blown out the fire, the earth parted. Evan fixed it to be somewhat uniform afterward. (goodbye Pangea) They called their island Te Etearia Isle, later changed to The Ethereal Isles. Located off the southern coast of France.

After this, Evan created an herb he was fond of and decided to burn it, after he burnt it, he began creating whatever the fuck he wanted (yes, i'm implying he made weed)

One night the deities came together to create the first humans. They loved each other in VARIOUS different ways but it got lonely when it was just the 4 of them. Mae worked out the fine tuning of humans. Two arms, two legs, two lungs, a head, brain, and heart. Of course and so on. Each one of their first humans had their own special features but i haven't worked them all out yet.

Anyways, back to the tears thing. In my story, on their side (there's their realm and our side aka the boring non magic side) there are four bodies of water that are considered Tears of a God, which is written in Latin but I don't have a perfect translation for it yet. These bodies of water have special properties that vary depending on which god cried into them. They're all salt water cause yk, they're tears.

I have one for everyone but Evan, the only thing I know about his is that it's like The Yellow River in China, it's rough and prone to flooding for a very specific reason. But that reason is written in my history notebook that i left in my locker at school.

Ace's (well mine) is called Mourner's Peak, where there's multiple little ponds (or maybe geysers idk yet) each one evokes a different emotion. Mostly negative, but some positive.

Zach's is the original pond Ace had made for him to cry into when they made fire for the first time. That is the main portal, his tears make it possible to travel from each realm easily.

Mae's in a deep deep saltwater pond, under it is the cave where she locked away the other three gods. They're stuck under there for thousands of years.

also, the star over bethlehem where people say jesus was born is where the big fight between Mae and the others happened. The star was Ace fighting cause yk they're the deity of the cosmos and celestial magic. Also toying with the idea I wrote the bible as a joke and someone found it after we locked away and then continued it lmao.

Blood deity pt.3

It’s been about a month since chases new living situation and he's gotten quite comfortable living with anti. Hm i gotta say this whole being the husband to the god of chaos and war isn't so bad getting fed manageable food, a comfortable bed, and not having to work is something plus on the bright side anti really has mellowed out. Tho i kind wish i could get off this floating island and get some real human interactions dont get me wrong travis is a nice guy but i need someone else to talk to, hm maybe after anti get back from his raid with jackie i could try and convince him to let me go down there for a bit.

*Sometime later*

Oh lamb guess who's back from their raid and has brought yummy treats home. As anti barged in the front entrance with a bundle of food on his back. But didnt get an immediate response. hm strange usually chase is at the front door to greet me home. Maybe he could have gone for a walk with travis. Hm well i can't fuss over chase too much plus even if something were to happen travis is more than capable….but i guess it wouldn't hurt to look for them to be safe heh yeah JUST to be safe as anti slid into his shadow form and went out searching for the two.

Say travis what are we having for dinner tonight. I'm starving, Well for dinner I have prepared a lovely acorn squash with a filling of spices and a side of asparagus to complement it. Also red wine and bread will accompany it. Man Travis, you're going all out tonight any special occasion. Well the master has returned from his raid and it was successful so we are celebrating. Ah okay, say Travis, what are these raids like? Hm im not permitted to speak about them per my master's orders. Alright i wont press the matter then, but we should be heading back before anti plows a gasket realising im not there to greet him. Very well we shall- HIYA lamb- ah mother of creation anti stop doing that your gonna give me a heart attack. Sorry hun anyways here hold on-why AH- the three teleported back home-ugh anti warn a guy will you i feel like i'm gonna barf. Ah right you humans aren't used to fast travel sorry hun it’ll go away in a few minutes in the meantime i could carry you if so desire. No thanks anti i'll be fine. Hm if you're so sure anyways I'm famished for some wine. Come along you two as anti said dragging chase travis by their arms into the dinning hall plopping chase on a chair and anti joining him. Oof anti was that necessary. Very now where's that food travis? On its way sire I shall fetch it for you travis bowed and left.

Hm say anti can i ask you something? Yes, my sweet? Well every end of the year fern holds a winter festival and I was wondering if i could go back to fern to celebrate it. Hm ill think about it. What! Why? Well lamb i dont feel its alright for you to go down there since now your my husband and a lot of my enemies would track you down and use you as a way to get to me so I’ll think about it. ANTI THATS BULL AND YOU KNOW IT as Chase slammed his hands on the table Chase please I don’t wanna see you get hurt, now could you please drop the subject. Fine but for the record anti, I can hold out on my own as chase said turning on his heel storming back to his and anti’s room. AND DON'T EXPECT ME BACK FOR DINNER TONIGHT! As anti heard echoing down the hall. Ugh mortals and their silly emotions anti said rolling his eyes but i guess it can't be helped i should apologise to him so anti got up and hovered towards him and chases room. Master anti where are you heading and where is chase? Ah don't worry about it travis me and chase had a little fight but ill get him back here for dinner. Oh alright as Travis bowed his head and set dinner out. Anti hovered the rest of the way, stopping at the dark oak door knock. Beloved?....um chase i'm sorry about what i said at the table i didn't mean it in as a view you as weak or that you can't take care of yourself, i more meant it as i value you as a person and you are also very dear to me and i don't want to lose you, quite frankly i don't know what i'm gonna do when you do actually- but anti stopped himself feeling his throat tightening a bit. Beloved, are you even listening to me? But was met with silence. chase I know you're mad at me but I don't think I deserve the silent treatment, especially when it is my room too. But the silence continued GAH god sakes Chase I’m coming in and you better be ready to be dragged out and force fed tonight so anti barged into the shared room but was met with Chase not to be found and the window open.
