so - my favourite, niche detail? OH, it has to be - HAS TO BE -

the scene between him and shinra where they're walking toward the lift discussing their plans. it's at like, 10:30 here. what i love about it, is heidegger's mannerisms throughout the scene. for one, we get to see how him and shinra interact with one another. the power dynamic is so evident in the way that they communicate; heidegger is speaking directly to shinra, shinra doesn't even spare him a glance. when heidegger does finally look away ( as well as his stance - he sort of leans on one leg, like a child up to no good ) - it's when he's been 'caught' trying to manipulate shinra.

he says 'i've almost come to believe it myself-' re wutai being instigators and shinra shoots him a glare as if to say 'shut the fuck up', in response, heidegger turns away.

i /love/ that detail so much. it's so subtle and nuanced and yet, i think, says a lot about heidegger's more deceitful side.

in terms of something soft about heidegger

- it would have to be the love he has for his daughters. he, absolutely, thinks that they're the best. which is funny...because they're both very 'eh' on him. he was always married to the job and always put shinra first. because he never knew how to properly show his love, he would shower them with gifts and money as a means of showing affection.

though he doesn't properly know how to show his love for his girls, he does genuinely adore them & secretly, is a huge softie for them. when he was younger and his girls were kids, they'd call him their 'big bear' and he'd give the best cuddles. his stubble / beard would always scratch against their faces.

the animal question is funny

because me and @infernocharged were having this chat over discord! my answer was super boring but i basically said a lion. not entirely because of a lions usual association with pride and strength / being leader of the pack but also because male lions are very lazy! they walk around with their balls swinging about before they sleep for an entire afternoon. i feel like that's all i need to say there.

in terms of retirement ; i have a couple of answers to this -

my first answer, is costa del sol. in me and @stingslikeabee verse- melissa and heid's happily ever after came about in costa del sol. they retired there, having their son and living out the rest of their days as suntouched lovers.

my second answer would be cosmo canyon - i headcanon that heidegger had a best friend from there when he was in his early twenties. in my self-indulgent, 'happy' ending for heidegger, he retires there alongside his friend and the two run a clinic together. they're old lovers with a flame rekindled, it's all cute and self indulgent and i wont apologise for it dlsnglksdg

Oooh! What is "Nightmare Soulmates"? Is that the one you mentioned the other day?

Yeah I have talked to you about this at some point at least, but I don't remember when! Pretty sure at this point there is no wip I haven't told you about lol😂 Except maybe the one I started on the weekend...

Anyway, to sum up! It's a hangster soulmate AU with the premise that soulmates have a Soulmate Dream (TM) that they share, except for these two it happens to be a nightmare. Not very pleasant, but at least they have each other. And there's also the thing of them having known each other for years and kinda wanting to be together but no soulmate dream ever came so they're like ok fuck everything then. A lot of bullshit about the universe not feeling they were ready etc etc. But they ARE soulmates!!!! I'm a big fan of soulmate stories where they want to be soulmates even before it gets confirmed so that's what I'm going with here.

I have a lot of things to say in this fic and I'm taking it wayyy too seriously which is why it's taking me forever to write😂🙈

if you could get into any hobby, cost and ability not an issue, what would it be?

Kayaking honestly, or like. Sailing. I know it's kind of funny given the current hyperfixation but being on the water and doing things involved with water have always made me the happiest, so if I had the time/money/physical ability to do so I would love to get into that.

I used to go kayaking semi-regularly when I was younger and loved it, I did crew/rowing one summer and loved that too. :))

I'd also like. I really wish I had any artistic ability at all, but i'd particularly love to be able to paint. :(

OH oh oh also like. Cliff diving, or skydiving, or sports like surfing or parasailing.

There's a ton i'd like to do apparently, but this is basically in order of appeal to me. :)
