Water. Mans is literally in love with the moon, what else could he be?

I am beyond honored to have been allowed to leave my own mark in the game like this, and honestly never in a million years expected to actually become involved with the game.

Everyone is fine to use these as phone backgrounds but if you do youre legally required to tell me which one is your favorite.

Putting it under the cut for length, but here's a breakdown of each card;

Starting with the Evil!MC end cards, that are lovingly dubbed Judas' Kiss if you stayed with Matty, or Scorched Earth for MC's solo end.

The images really mostly speaks for themselves; the flaming heart, hand in atrocious hand if you chose to share the power with Matthias, but then when you put it next to the solo end is where it got fun for me. The heart is broken, its just you now, but the glowing eyes are smiling. My first time testing the judas kiss route I did not hestiate for a second to hit "kill him"

Next is the death card

I really liked the idea of (if your mc wasnt a huge dick anyway) that they give you a grave outside the cave, something for people to leave Rowan flowers and gifts. A classic grave didnt quite feel like it fit so I settled on a cairn. It felt very fitting with the Power being a respect for nature and such. I set it to be at night, with moonlight streaming down on the grave to give it a melancholic sort of feeling, with the sun charm sunny gives you strung off it, and then placed flowers at the grave to kinda show that people have come by because they care about Rowan. Meanings for the flowers are below and while not canon, I like to think each of the LI's left behind one of them; red roses from Abel, blue violets from Amalia, sunflowers from Lincoln and the marigolds from Joss, though really they were all chosen more generally.

Onto the blood end card! Which I named New Horizons, and not because of animal crossing. A winding road in the mountains at sunset; the road has been long, it has been hard and now youre choosing to move on. Symbolically what i wanted this card to be is that feeling of leaving everything behind. The sun is setting on your old life as you go to embrace the normal life that Blood MC wants so much. Youre on the top road moving around the bend, not sure where life will take you but that's alright, you have the rest of your life to look forward to figure out where you'll go.

Onto my own canon end; the Mixed end!

Lovingly called "Best of Both Worlds" because mixed rowan is playing that hannah montanna life. More seriously; this card in contrast to the blood end is not about leaving everything behind, but embracing what you are. The card itself is set at dawn to contrast this; soft yellows and pinks, morning dew and fog clinging to the forest floor with a streak of Power playfully dancing among the trees. Its the dawn of a new day, seeing everything in new light after the darkness of the past weeks/years rowan spent trying to understand themselves. It's my personal favorite end even if my mc and Linc gotta do long distance for a while. But to me its about accepting yourself; moving on from the grief of losing your family without alienating yourself from your memories of them and embracing that Power side of yourself without being changed by it. The life you built after being ressurected is your own and no one can take that from you.

Next up my almost canon end, that does live rent free in my mind because I love angst.

Closed gate shadow end, Far, Far away (yes this is a shrek/starwars/nerd refrence); its a fairly straight forward card, thought it does have one of my personal favorite little details. This is the second draft I made of it after this scene from Lincoln's shadow goodbye stuck with me; looking up through the trees at the night sky.

I really wanted to hide an eye shaped constellation in the stars but couldnt make it look good sadly :sob: But my favorite little detail are the fireflies and how some of them are cyan; touched by the power Rowan is now again a part of. Not canon, but I like to think these little cyan fireflies come to sit on the LI's heads next they wander too close to the woods (Fireflies by Owl City starts playing).

Shadow end is just. Its so beautiful really. From sharing your experiences with the wisps, how Rowan's wisp has been changed by their time as a person, how despite their grief they are not sad or unhappy, melancholic yes but this is where you want to be. Its a cosmic love, the joy of having lived, coming inside on a cold winter day to find your home warm and inviting, your family waiting for you to tell them about your day. The card itself is a little whimsical, hopeful despite the closed gate that the power will forever be part of the world, even if its been cut off. And this brings us to the other shadow ending card; the flower

Eternal Bloom, a ghostly hand reaching out to hand this flower over to the world, a final gift, a final goodbye. Maybe a promise of "I'll see you soon" but first and foremost, it is a promise of love.

Thats right babes. Its all about Love. Unfading Love.

symbolically there isnt anything hidden in the card, but thats also in part of it at face value telling you all you need to know; its about love! its a gift, for you, to remember me by. You have not forgotten me, and even changed as I am, I have not forgotten you. Rowan's change in personality after merging shadow was sooooo heart breaking tbh but ITS SO GOOD. You found joy in what you were, but its time to come home, take off your coat, hang it up, take off your shoes.

And it is all about love! All these cards (well, not all of them) were for me made from the heart, trying to keep in line for the different themes each end resolves to give the players something to remember each route by.

same anon, same! So, Sunny's relationship with the sun is not as intimate as Luis's with the moon. They love the sun, because the sun gives warmth and light to everyone; they kin with the sun, as it were. but they're not "committed" to the extent where they have to shut doors on relationships they could have with other people. they definitely have a very special qpr with luis, it's not romantic but the two are extremely close and have a special relationship!

i feel like harper's writing is not talked about as much as it should be and i just wanna say that ilw has given me a newfound love for them that ilb hadnt quite managed to do!

also i dont mean this to come across as demanding and greedy but a horny bitch gotta ask: had you ever considered doing a harper pov for ch23 for some sexy times👀 or had that never been in the plans? im aware, and thankful, of how much work it was to do all the devon routes (and ig all those sex scenes were much more, as weird as it sounds, anticipated than the ilb routes bc ilb already had sex but the cast were minors in ilitw. though i wonder if theres a 'diamond' option for devon to just hang out w their friends if they have no li or do they just go to bed?) i cant help but feel like ilb kinda got the short end of the stick somehow, compared to the ilitw cast who were more present in ilw even though its not their story anymore, but ig theyre more connected to the ilw storyline than the ilb cast bc they are from westchester while ilb not.

i still love the story a lot, its quickly become one of my fav 'playchoices' (heh) stories, i just kinda want to start a conversation more than criticise, if that makes sense.

thank you <3 i personally really love harper and i LOVED writing them so much. the ilb scenes were some of my favorite to work on.

to answer your question, let me first say that i am one of the few probably who actually prefer ilb to ilitw. so i went into ilw wanting ilb rights 😂 secondly, i will say that the crux of the answer comes down to technicalities behind writing variants.

interestingly, we actually were considering the idea of Elliot being part of the ilw crew when we first started and having a nerve score! the idea was that a) he's a guaranteed survivor so we wouldn't have to write variants around it and b) he had gone to connor when harper vanished and they were working together more actively in looking for harper. we ended up scrapping the idea however, because he didn't feel necessary. him in that role really felt like extra baggage, and there wasn't really room for a character arc for him. so we changed it to how it ended up being. we also were considering having one ilb crew member being part of the ilw crew as well, since at least two of them are guaranteed to not die and not leave, but that idea quickly got tossed because it was simply too many variants.

when it comes to ilitw, every single character has the possibility of being dead, so one of the earliest things we did was come up with a "contribution" for each character. we didn't want it to be like in ilb, when you just have this awkward one-off conversation with each one and they're all in the same room but not talking to each other for some reason?? so we decided to separate them out from each other more and make their contributions independent of each other. we also had to figure out what happens if they are dead and unable to provide their contribution.

Ava - obviously her contribution was coven leader. If she's dead, Sunny is the leader.

Stacy - she attends the dinner party with rowan and connor and allows you to bring your LI along with you.

Lucas - he helps work on the cure, and his survival is necessary to being able to fully cure the horrors at the end of the game.

Andy - he helps revived devon/noah in the physical therapy scene

Dan - he provides therapy to rowan which comes with some nerve gain

Once we had all these contributions, we had a really hard time thinking about what ILB crews "contributions" would be. And because they weren't from Westchester, it didn't make as much sense for them to be involved. Secondly, because someone's always guaranteed to be alive, the scenes of all of them together are actually a lot easier and possible to write, where ILITW's scenes like that are insanely difficult. so instead of having their "contributions," ilb crew's involvement was mostly considered by us as a group thing, and it was focused around harper's disappearance arc. We had discussed ways to make them more involved, but it didn't really fit and we felt like it distracted from the main story we were trying to tell. It was a tough balance to figure out how to make previous books matter and bring back old characters while giving the new characters the screen time and focus that they needed. I hope this makes sense!

I know a few people were disappointed that Harper didn't do much in chapters 21-23 but you have to understand that Harper could never be instrumental in their success, because they can be dead, and we didn't want to lock mc succeeding behind harper being alive or not. secondly, that ending scene had an insane amount of variants, from rowan secretly being a traitor, to devon/noah who was human and who was the ghost, to LIs dying and/or leaving, and throwing harper into the mix would have been extremely complicated for a character whose involvement wouldn't be able to fundamentally change anything, for the reasons i explained above.

Now, moving onto the horny scenes, we actually were planning on having ilb sex scenes when we first started, but when we realized how many sex scenes we were going to write (it ended up being a grand total of 21 lol) we were like. never mind 😂 the spot it was going to go was actually after harper was saved from the breach and you play as them. originally their leg wasn't broken and they weren't in the hospital, so that's where it was going to go. but as the scenes changed and we got burnt out from writing sex scenes, we decided not to include it, our rationale being a) they're in the hospital and b) they got two sex scenes in ilb whereas ilitw lis haven't ever gotten one. it definitely would not have worked for the epilogue, because I think it would have really thrown off the pacing to just take turns playing as each mc getting it on with their LI lol. but everyone is free to hc what harper and their LI did after that bbq heehee

I'm curious to see if you have any Connor headcanons about his life after Jane's death and the ILITW group splintered, but before ILITW. What about his reactions to the aftermath to everything that happened on Homecoming depending on who lived and who died, and what he hopes to do with his life after ILW?

He wasn't too close to the group, so I don't think he would've been that affected. He would definitely have noticed that Stacy acted differently, but I think he'd assume it had to do with one of her best friends, Jane, dying. I think he tried to cheer Stacy up as much as possible. He noticed that Stacy no longer spent time with her friends, so he was the brother who would bring his little sister with him to hang out with with his friends, and if any of them complained about his tag-along sister Connor would get protective and they'd never complain about that again.

I think he did pretty average in school. Not horrible, but not great. He's more of a go out and do, work with his hands kind of guy rather than an academic.

After homecoming, he was definitely never the same again. Depending on what happened, he could've lost his sister and the person he was falling in love with. But even if neither of them died, he went through traumatic experiences with supernatural monsters and ghosts. I figure he tried to go back to living a normal life after homecoming (with varying degrees of success depending on how much loss he experienced). He decided to move back to Westchester and worked a couple of jobs to try to support himself and not rely on his parents, taking some hours as a mechanic and learning those skills and working part-time shifts at the local hardware store. If Stacy lived, he spent a lot of time trying to facilitate reconciliation and a healthy relationship between the two. If Stacy died, he wanted to be there for his parents through their grief.

He also never really moved on from the Power. Though he wasn't actively fighting against it at first, I imagine he did a lot of studying up on it, met with Ava (if survived) or Sunny frequently to talk about it as they got the coven up and going, and I think he took frequent walks through the woods to see if he found anything out of the ordinary. Once Devon/Noah finally came to him about Redfield Noah/Devon, he was immediately on board because he never really left everything behind.

After ILW, if he's with Devon he just wants to settle down with them, leave all this behind him, and have a family. If he's not dating Devon, he'd probably hope to eventually find someone but in the meantime, just be fully independent. He'd like to open his own mechanics shop so he doesn't have to work for anybody or rely on anyone and be fully independent in his professional work.

Going with the theory someone posted earlier that the ILW cast is being haunted by their dead loves ones: Rowan is being haunted by Annie. Abel: his dead parents. Lincoln: his late mother. Jocelyn: Cody. Amalia: someone from her past she kept a secret. Connor: Mayor Green AND Stacy if she died in ILITW. Something (The Power? Luis? Marianthe? Matthias? Sunny?) is behind it all and manipulating Annie, Abel's parents, Lincoln's mother, the person haunting Amalia, Cody, Mayor Green, and/or Stacy.

Hey! I'm loving it sm right now, but j wanted to ask if the other ilitw chafavgers will have more screen time later on? My MC dated Andy, and it feels kinda like the game assumes you either dated Connor or wanted to date Noah (like, this is my ONLY super MILD issue with it so far, but Connor mentioning MC dating Andy felt like an afterthought :( ) and I'd love there to be... Some consequence to the fact I dated and love my boy king kang

hiii, i believe this has been answered before, but trust me when i say nothing regarding the ilitw characters are after thoughts in this project. understand that ilw is its own entity, we want to focus on the new characters, the new Lis, plus we're continuing from what looked to be the crew dev/noah/connor put together at the end of ilb.

the connor screentime is bc connor is guaranteed to be alive, we can always just write him and not worry about it. But if we were to make Andy(or any of the other Lis) as big of a character as Connor, every single time he ever said anything ever, we would have to write an alternate version where he’s not there. (like what we do for ava/sunny)

Because Connor is a consistent presence, we’ve added variants if he is Devon’s LI. Yeah there are a lot more romance opportunities with Connor and Noah but again, it’s because they’re both guaranteed to be there and also Noah never got his romance moments in previous books so :((( he’s getting them now lol. 

If you don’t want any romance either of them, don’t make Connor your LI and don’t encourage the Noah romance. The other LIs will make appearances sooner or later but don’t expect it to be something huge like Connor because that would be… a nightmare to write and code for the alive/dead variants four different people, and you will be disappointed.

I believe ava called noah a "rat boy" (I accidentally pressed off the dialogue too fast but I'm pretty sure that what she said) and it's SO FUNNY because that's something me and my friends say ALL the time

I know I've mentioned I'm an easy crier before but DUDE the amount I cried when talking to both connor and ali(my ilitw mc) after their argument was uhh .. certainly something (good job I had tissues nearby) but listening to both their takes and feelings was so special, I really liked both those scenes
