I just read your meta on the needle drops and think it‘s soo interesting. I never noticed the songs you mentioned but what i love are the songs at the valentines ball. When wille walks in the singer sings ‚you should see me in a crown’ and ‚ain‘t got time for another rebound’ and after wille tells simon that he‘s gonna let him go and simon decides to go after him the song playing goes ‚never let me go oh no‘

I don‘t know what their names are but i love how the music obviously reflects what‘s going on in the scene and kinda foreshadows with the aint got time for another rebound

"You should see me in a crown" is Run 'Em Down by Graham Lake and Avelino. This one especially fits the themes of the show so well!

This reference to the Adam and Eve story, and Adam and Eve being pushed out of the perfection of the garden, feels pretty applicable to Wilhelm and Simon.

As much as we would like Wilhelm and Simon's love to conquer all, we know it can't and that there are about to be lots of complications.

See how Ian makes a joke and while looking at the nun Mickey starts smirking? Then he turns to Ian, his face lights up, he turns back to the nun and it‘s back to a smirk? This is so subtle in the actual scene but in the gif you can see it and I love how Noel does this, proving that Mickey really only ever legit smiles at Ian everyone else only gets a smirk 🥰🤕

I saw you watched Shadowhunters as well and your opinion about s1 and I kinda wanted to talk about it. Hope that‘s fine :) i think the storyline and how they told it is soo much better in s1 than 2&3 but it looks so cheap and Kat just wasn‘t a good actress in the beginning. Also there is not enough Malec there and that‘s basically the reason I (and most people?) watched. S2 and 3 looked better and the acting was better but the storytelling was god awful sometimes. They just repeated storylines like the Malec breakup at the end of the season or Luke getting arrested. But I still think the show is better than the books (though I read them after watching and I wasn’t a diehard fan) because for example the incest storyline was so huge in the books and they really reduced that in the show. Overall I really like the show but more in a guilty pleasure way. I‘d love to hear more of your opinion :)

I do! I actually love the books, movie, and show all in their own way lol. Disclaimer, I just woke up and no coffee yet so this may sound rambley lol.

I uh, love Clary but I never felt like Kat was the strongest actor for her even in the end. A lot probably has to do with 1. I thought Emily Collins was wonderful so I’m sure I compared her a lot accidentally and 2. She just didn’t play Clary as I envisioned Clary. She’s a bit more modern tv teen and not as sweet.

The budget does get better as they go, as well as them moving closer to the books at times in later seasons. The first time I started watching it I was a bit sad because I felt they were trying to branch away from the world building of the books and attempt to look more like the settings from other shows in the genre. The institute for example gives me Buffy, Angel, and Supernatural bunker scene vibes, while the location in the movies felt very gothic and the scenes were so beautiful. I really just learned to view the show as it’s own thing though, so overall that didn’t bug me as much by the end. Season 1 using movie props lowkey makes me happy though.

I try not it to fault the show as much, because it’s a Freeform show and I signed myself up for failure if I wanted storylines that weren’t so teen drama-y with that info lol. Overall, introducing supernatural SLs in teen shows work for me a bit better though, because they have real stakes instead of breaking up over things that never made sense to me. I though the show runners handled a lot of the material they had to adapt in an interesting way, keeping it both relevant to books and it’s own (often less problematic) thing. Like as much as I love Clary and Jace (and oof, especially the movie verisons), the show making it less about them strictly and more about a larger cast worked in its favor. Alec, Izzy, Maia, and Magnus in the show are the best versions of them, along with Simon who I didn’t even like in the books for a long long time. Also I don’t fault them for s3 feeling rushed, because I thank them for wrapping it up (and giving us Sizzy finally!!!) but I offically hate Freeform for cancelling it lol.

So I normally prefer the build up to a relationship in movies or shows (because all those happy early brain chemicals I guess lol) and Malec formally isn’t in s1 as much because it’s just such an important season for them since it’s their introduction, their whole build up, and finally them getting together. I really enjoy watching them fall for each other and Magnus wooing Alec, along with Alec realizing he doesn’t have to follow a certain path. I’d always rather watch a relationship build up than watch a show attempt to shake an established couple for drama (though still, once again I prefer the stakes they used to shake them up with over most shows). Plus we get all those damn good Magnus looks in season 1.

I’m a huge fan of the books though! I really don’t like one over the other because they’ve become their own two separate things and I like different ideas in both. I think C.C’s first two series are so good and drew me in so fast. I also got into the series in just the perfect way to enjoy all the media attached because I saw the movie first in theaters, so going into the books I knew the sibling storyline wasn’t real (because the movie made a point to also have that confirmed in movie 1 and the books don’t for multiple books). I however did not learn all the additional baggage that came with the author until after, which sucks that she’s been so elitist, awful, and just weird in the past. Anyway, her newer stuff sometimes feels so stereotypical fanfictiony? (I never want to sound like I’m using ff as an insult but you know, the really out there stories that gave ff their original bad rep? They’re just a bit ridiculous with some of the storylines). I’ve just fallen out with her writing a lot.

It is also a guilty pleasure show for me lol. It’s almost too cheesy at times but I think they handled a lot of topics way better than I’ve seen other shows attempt to tackle.

So I started reading the DCBBs and the fic I just finished didn't explicitly tag major character death. They just said there are some triggers in the end notes read them if you want and I never do that bc MCD is the only thing I don't read and i expect everyone to tag that but no. It's in the endnotes as implied MCD. Now I read 20k Words just to end up crying. I hate it when they do that. Just f*cking tag that shit! Sorry I just really needed to rant about that.. hope you understand 😳

Usually when this happens the author doesn’t tag it because they don’t want to give away major plot points. Which you know, as a writer I can sort of understand, but I do agree with you that MCD is something that should always be tagged properly, because it’s too big a trigger for too many people. 

Anyway, go drown yourself in fluffy fic and happiness my friend! *hugs*

I just listened to Jim Hoffmaster‘s (Kermit) podcast and he said that he filmed scenes on 5 days so there ist probably more Kermit than normally in the last ep. But the interesting thing is that his last day (he didn‘t know if it‘s the last day for everyone) is Thursday and it‘s a big group scene and I kid you not he said he likes it because he normally isn‘t in wedding or funeral (!!) scenes. Also it‘s a loong night shoot, one of the crew said he‘ll she the sun rise on Friday. I don‘t know what to do with this, I‘m not ready

I'm pretty sure it'll be Frank's funeral for 11x12. The episode title name and how fast Frank's dementia is progressing, I rly think the series will end with his funeral.

Also, shanolas stories the other day had kev wearing a gold wedding band so im pretty sure they do get married but prior to the finale so maybe in 11x10 or 11x11, or maybe there isn't even a wedding like maybe they just go to city hall since there is a pandemic or maybe they parallel to s1 and do it at the alibi with just the gallaghers 🥺🥺🥺🥺

But yeah I'm like pretty positive the finale will be Frank's funeral and I'm rly hoping for a mini time jump right at the end to just show us where all the kids are you know? 🤞🤞

Okay so the sneak peek is probably in the beginning right? So after that they go to the loft and we see in the promo that Magnus hits Asmodeus there -> learns about the deal? So I guess the whole Magnus opens the rift thing is wrong then cause why would he?

The trailer made it far too obvious. Besides, Magnus banished his father once before without opening a rift to Edom and putting the whole world at risk so why would he do that now? Makes no sense.

Also, we saw that Clary has the Morningstar sword in the trailer so these dumbasses did that and Magnus will sacrifice himself most likely to fix this shit.

Anyway, I am guessing Lorenzo spills the beans to Magnus which makes Magnus realize what game daddy dearest is playing which leads to him whipping up Asmodeus’ ass. I CAN’T WAIT!
