i could probably and should probably take a better photo but 1. its 2 am i cant sleep and honestly its been a while since ive routinely posted art and i kind of dont know how to make it look nice outside of just. the drawing. ive been having fun with trradtional art its helped a lot with the fact i just kind of started hating my art? traditional art is very sensory and its good sensory to me. alcohol markers have a smell and a sound and are very fun to play with. im aware the piece is messy but also it was SO MUCH fun to doodle and i think it leaves a really colourful and sweet impression

wait its the only ad youve seen? ill answer your question in a moment but im... a bit stupefied by knowing THAT detail specifically. as for how much i paid for it, well time to spill the beans i guess: i have blazed this SPECIFIC post (but i blazed other posts on this blog earlier this month) for $150. and thats only from THIS month. i have blazed this other times and i cant give an exact number, but honestly i can say in total i paid MORE than $200 on that post in general. now why would i do that? because i love seeing some people make jokes about it, getting REALLY pissed off from seeing it OVER AND OVER AGAIN, like just that knowledge is SO FUCKING HILARIOUS TO ME. the thing is about that too is THE PEOPLE TOOK THE BAIT! they took the bait, literally reblogging how much they hate it, how much its complete DOGSHIT and probably thinking about how i should be a cow on a trash farm like that one german dude on twitter said to edmund mcmillen. but theres also the polar opposite, the people who find it very funny, people who oddly enjoy it, like genuinely enjoy it. or people who just saw the blaze and think its based. i like that, too, honestly. i like this polar opposite dynamic with the post and how people see it over and over. its funny, at least to me. it gives me genuine enjoyment, seeing how much people both genuinely seem to like it bc funny, and how much people hate it. oh and yes i can afford this, so you all are probably stuck with this for a GOOD LONG WHILE, because i feel like i practically live in a factory job that pays me well enough.

i was about to open a new canvas to draw some more shizaya stuff for my animatic that im never gonna finish and i was like huh. maybe i should draw onk fanart. and then i remembered this art of venti genshin impact with ai’s eyes and i remembered thinking man i hope this becomes an artist trend for people to do with their art blorbos! and then i was like OH. guess i could contribute to the trend by drawing izaya with ai’s eyes

and then i started thinking and i was like huh. Ai’s never experienced love from her parents, doesn’t think she knows how to love or how to express it, doesn’t get attached to others easily, is a perpetual liar, became an idol because she hoped she would learn how to love - oh hey doesnt. that. sound like izaya. just a little bit. not exactly, her character goes into more learning how to love/that she can love while izaya’s character is i can love but only impersonally because i’m afraid of getting hurt and his arc would be learning to let his walls down for his own good

SO for izaya idol au, izaya would become an idol because he wants to experience love, or something along the lines of “there’s no greater demonstration of parasocial love and foolish decision making than in the idol industry! ahaha~” and probably “idols are perfect liars and i need to put myself into their shoes so i can become an even better liar and close myself off to any possibility of falling in love that could ever exist”

there’s a lot of reasons he might want to become an idol, really. there’s so much corruption and behind-the-scenes dealing and lies and facades and shit in the entertainment industry that i think izaya would eat for breakfast. he would LOVE witnessing that shit and making his own shady deals and stuff and occasionally ruining lives and watching people rise and fall down the rankings and tear each other down. plus the people who are in it for passion rather than money are fascinating as well. psychology student’s dream really- i mean what this is definitely about izaya and not me projecting

plus he definitely has the looks for it (narita would hard agree given how many times he’s indirectly called izaya attractive through other characters. we love a canonically hot king)

now i need to make everything shizaya because i’m not okay but i have no idea who shizuo would be lmao

like you could make him some up and coming manager (no age difference stuff here sorry lmao) or a fellow idol (doubtful. shizuo can act cute but i dont think he could dance) or an actor like akane/kana or a streamer??? like memcho (my favorite character)

a mangaka/screenplay writer/writer in general could also work but i feel like you’d have less reason to interact with idols that way

yay! i've been a pretty vocal supporter of them before i think mentally ill women should kiss. its how they heal their trauma. i think it makes sense because they have very similar experiences and obviously admire eachother and you have to acknowledge nami at least has a crush on robin in canon. they have the potiental to be the greatest ship of all time and im probably going to make at least one fanfiction thats just shipping them by the end of this. the idea of getting to write both of my favourite characters is too fun to pass up.

gone_bad (one of my favourite fanfiction authors) has written them even so you know they're good.

law/luffy - doesnt make sense, doesnt compel me

im alright with people who like this ship I'm not a big law fan but i do enjoy him despite it all, (it all = the fact hes so popular and i get annoyed he gets more attention than characters i love better) this is only one guygirls opinion, but i dont see the reading of them as romantic because law needs take his meds and go to therapy before he ever even considers bothering someone younger than him to be in a relationship, alright? he needs a good solid year or two to be his own person and not be convinced hes going to hell for existing like the catholic he is.

i dont see luffy as being attracted to him as well, but I'm not sure what foundation i have for that opinion. its just a vibe i get.

yes believe it or not that freaky ass literally not even human clown in fgo gets love, and love from who? me and like 3 other people

first off

ok and with that out of the way,

i’m not even familiar with their lore. Reason why i stopped caring about the lore behind faust and mephistopheles is that an interlude happens that shows that mephistopheles is just some homunculi made by some mage nobody named faust. and even then the interlude doesn’t talk about the lore behind the novel, its just you helping mephy kill faust

that being said though i would hope the developers expand on their origins more and potentially even release a “true” mephistopheles (a girl can dream)

So, they’re not even the real deal demon known as Mephistopheles in the first place, and i can hear u going “well that’s lame” and like, no, we just need to redirect our feelings from appreciating a demon to appreciating a homunculi who has a weird characterization in the fate universe

Design tangent:

Fgo was actually my first gacha, and so when I came across this servant I kinda instantly fell in love with their design, I love the colors used in their final ascension and overall appearance. The hat that has horns but they're not quite horns, theyre these weird colorful pointy twisty things, the large garish butterfly ornament on their chest (which isnt ugly at all and somehow works so well with their everything on them) is cool, the tights are so cool to look at, i mean look -- a checkered pattern with golden lining on the shorts portion, the tits out look like yes we get it youre insane, the gloves??? purple and also cool, plus theyve got this gradient thing going on? and the fingers have this line going through them, thats so cool. actually the only other servant that comes close to this in terms of “out there” colorful designs is probably final ascension kama and qsh ( i love them both). Also, mephy has this scissor weapon?? thats so cool lol i dont see any other servant wielding giant scissors (for the love of god give mephy an animation update i need to see them use the scissors while doing flips) and they also have this bomb obsession going on? cant relate, but the bombs designs are so so cool i mean its a fucking centipede -- no idea if centipedes are a thing in the original faust but thats something Ill have to look up at some point. ALSO mephy is wearing heels oh my god anytime people wear heels is an automatic win. No clue whats going on with the hair but its kinda cute (dont question me on that) and it has curls and the hair colors are cool i mean its like a lavender thing with darker purple highlights? i love colorful things and i love people with wacky personalities so. Oh my god their tail how could i forget that its so cute and dumb i almost forgot it was there, like what is that even a whip? i dont.. but its got these little purple tips to them that are kinda cute/cool but more cool because tails are fucking up there alongside heels in terms of cool stuff on characters. and of course their fluffly cape -- again no idea what the designers were going for i mean look its a mess of a design i have no fucking idea what any of it means and i hope they explain it someday because that hair and the butterfly and the tail and the hat and the fluffy garb and a bomb obsession?? and this got the go ahead - yeah lets add that to the game like what

anyways this is me going off all about why i like their design! but we haven’t even touched the nitty gritty of it all. their personality! what personality you may ask? havent they always been some weirdo laughing a lot and saying dumb shit all the time? well yes and no

Characterization:

True to their dumb little clown design mephy also acts like one.

Some servants bond 1 lines are like “fuck off” and some actually talk to you, nah this bastard mephistopheles’ just laughing. and for the second bond line it seems to imply theyre fuckin with you more (showing up and dissapearing and saying ‘afterimage’) so thats nice that theyre actually making some effort to mess with you in a way? some servants take a long time to actually interact with you so this shows theyre not afraid of interacting with you and thats just at bond 2. and of course the third bond line implies they were probably trying to betray you, its stated in more than 1 place that mephistopheles (actually isnt this a caster class thing?) will betray you or attempt to do so. So the third bond line seems to imply that their attempts have been stopped by you and that’s what they say after some failed attempts. So after stopping this freak from doing some shit their next bond line is actually doing a confession! a jester being honest who couldve seen that one coming but theyre 100% not lying, they really arent a demon but a homunculi made by faust

speaking of faust we’re going to backtrack a little into their interlude that i brought up at the start of this post, its one of those dream interludes and it starts with mephy asking you to help him plant bombs for their eventual reuinion/showdown with faust -- in the meantime faust keeps sending golems in an attempt to kill both you and mephy

When you track faust down, it’s shown that faust was your typical mage, inhumane and uncaring. It’s also pointed out that this faust killed innocents, but this typical mage behavior is boring to mephy, and they say that boring typical behavior is why they wanted to kill them

 so i really cant blame mephistopheles for being the way they are, being raised by this type of guy, even if mephy was always messed up and wacky from the beginning its no reason for faust to attempt to kill him.

Mephistopheles also shows up in salem, cu alter’s interlude, and of course the knk crossover event, and some other things im most likely forgetting but those 3 are ones that i find notable

anytime they show up theyre actually helpful, in salem mephy points out that the nature of the being responsible for the salem epic of remnant is something alien rather than a typical foreign god, mephy also tells you that time is also being sped up and in their weird way they try to cheer you up by spouting some nonsense at the beginning (guda needed some kind of distraction from the grim events that had just transpired at that point in the story), i cant quite remember what mephy did in the knk event but they were a part of your group and were helpful the whole time, actually @/zeravmeta does an amazing analysis of their role in the knk event as well as some extra character analysis here

mephistopheles is kinda cryptic in a weird way though,

like overall i mean theyre a jester homunculi in appearance so yeah its to be expected but come on i love morally gray characters, despite their supposed betrayal hints scattered around here and there

they have this one line that always gets to me

and this line is said with a completely serious face too

the rare serious mephistopheles face! its kinda grim to see that line, no laughs, no nothing, their voice is kinda serious and monotone too. of course this could be just to get you to lower your guard but its still kinda out there that they have this rarely used portrait and that line, so i like to take it as being said to you when youre by yourself and with sincerity

and at least sei (with her wacky outfit and all lol) seems to get along with mephy and thinks theyre nice woohoo

so at the end of the day you have this guy that laughs a lot and gives mixed signals

and they fuck with you

and will most likely try to kill you more than once but hey thats just another tuesday at chaldea

Before I finish last thing I want to point out is this snippet from the fgo source material book which provides more information on servants, and this specific translated bit under mephistopheles

at the core of it all this homunculi....can be your friend! you just need to not go into despair i guess

2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)

depends on if the characters asymmetrical but generally dont have problems with either + i flip my canvas to check for inconsistencies. forward is weird because depending on character design its either super easy or a nightmare (ie any characters who were never meant to be viewed facing forward)

this ones gonna be weird bc i dont think i can be sure on a lot of these lmao

bio/zoology + monster stuff definitely came from childhood interest, i likea tha critters :) i wanna say my interest in bots/mechs + funky inanimate object stuff too? i did play metal slug a lot as a kid and a bunch of childhood favs were mechanical characters. also ive found fanart of putt putt, captain underpants villains, and the brave little toaster in my childhood journals lmao

oc -wise, selena herself (and vicks) also are funny in their own ways. i can say for sure they were always distinct ocs in my mind but i never actually Materialized them till very very recently. selena was based on a childhood pokemon trainer oc (but noot entirely self insert? its hard to describe) and vicks is kind of. a catharsis character for me. i have been thinking about making an entirely split oc from vicks recently bc the character i view in scenarios i want to visualize has been vicks, but i dont really wanna anymore bc she deserves to be her own deal now

...i also would argue probably the reason why mws huge cast + me just being able to. establish how they interact with each other so quickly also came from childhood ocs i never put down on paper or knew how to articulate as characters. its something im very weird about bc i straight up had a "cast" of fundamental ocs (proto-selena was one of them actually) from childhood to high school that were so personal to me i never wrote or visualized any of them bc Crinj they were just for lil ol me lmao. they liked to hang out with each other :)

finding connections between my fixation on my current characters and stuff i thought about as a kid is a thing i think about a normal amount teehee

stupid and goofy but still understandable to infer what it is for personal stuff, labeled straight for work stuff. "sketchbook" files have scratchpad in the name, pieces that include characters that arent my own usually include the persons username, and annual based stuff have the year

i like to be sillay but also i am a freak about keeping my files organized lmao

19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)

sid industrial machinery is really fun for me, buildings tend to be too basic and geometric for me to enjoy drawing... i wanna do more extremely stylized furniture and prop stuff (i really like those drawings that are character inventory layouts), i actually do wanna make fake object assets for my settings eventually bc i love that kind of stuff. bottles and containers are aesthetically pleasing but havent figured out rendering the sweet spot ive seen other drawings hit, at least for me

environments are something i wanna do bc those pics of super expansive landscapes with either huge structures or so open you can see the horizon stretch for miles are really cool, but still in the general learning process so itll be a while before i can even try reaching for that effect

a small update

hey i know its been a while, just wanted to update yall on the situation since i havent been active much

so long story short, this is a really important year for me at school, plus ill be moving schools next year,, plus i have summer school,,,,

ive kinda burnt myself out during winter break drawing (yea ik, my fault my fault, i just wanted to have drawings done in advance in prep for school) and kinda dont have much time left to make up for the sloppily done/incomplete work

ive been working thru my burnout (protip: DONT.) which only made it worse, plus i still have big projects to wrap up to get at least a decent grade

honestly a lot of pressure is on me, mainly cus

1) my teacher is strict

2) i have been known to be one of the kids that do well in school

3) my teacher has put even more pressure on me because this^^^

4) as said earlier, really important year in school for me and im moving schools next year

5) im asian, and those strict asian parent stereotypes are extremely true

6) yay projects, esPECIALLY GROUP PROJECTS THAT ARE DUE REALLY SOON AND WE'VE BARELY HAD TIME TO COORDINATE SHET

7) working on a big class thing, my teacher has put me in charge of something big and i couldnt exactly say no to it

i could go on but to save time typing ill leave it at that for now

school ends in june, though as said earlier i have summer school, which i can only assume takes up july,, and going to a new school, ill need maybe a week or 2 to get my shet together

which leaves about the first 2 weeks of august for myself

how fun, my birthday is near the end of the second week, ill probably be working on something

anyway, assuming i can get some drawings done within those 2 weeks ill probably just really inconsistent stuff

my style's changed quite a bit since ive kinda been suppressing my anime style and been forcing a more cartoony one, so now my style looks a lot more anime

ive also been trying to redesign my persona to make it look a bit more like me, and in the process trying to let my hand do its own thing instead of forcing it to stick to the cartoony style i wanted (when i come back you can probably expect a ref sheet of my new persona)

iI wanted to make this rant for a while now so why the hell not, I’ve also been wanting to rant about this ep and why its my all time favorite...because why the hell not... __________ This episode is way above the others for me, nothing can beat this. Ever sense I started watching Invader Zim I wanted an ep like this, and when I first watched it I knew it was going to be my fave and god I was so so exited, where do I start?  I hear some people don’t like this episode because how much Dib abuse is in it, for someone who kins Dib and whenever I see Dib get hurt in the show (which is like every single fucking ep) I feel horrible for him, but in this ep I did not, and I actually found it pretty funny, I laughed. From the start I knew Gaz and Dib where going to be my favorites and the more the show went on the more and more I loved these two and wanted to just see these two on screen, honestly I was starting to get tired of a lot of ep’s just being Dib vs Zim, I really wanted something else, not ONLY in this ep just about Dib and Gaz, how its done is done so so PERFECTLY.  _____________ I don’t want to point out every single part why I like it so much (probably will, anyways) starting off, Dib is fucking adorable in the start, thats perfect for me, LOVE THAT SHIT. That fucking....squeal he did?? yes. Ill take that shit. thank u..... And Gaz just walking in bitching about how Dib ate her food and hes just fucking too focused on his hard drives or whatever, its fucking perfect. Dib just being a fanboy in the start and Gaz bitching about whatever to him is perfect for me,   I think this was the first time we saw Gaz’s room and I love how it’s filled with stuffed animals, that is so perfect for her character you have NO IDEA. And I love what I’m assuming is dragon pajamas, what I love most of all is Gaz calling in her stuff animals to throw Dib out her room, the idea of Gaz having these creepy dolls that come to life is one of the best concepts for her character and I wish people would do more with that. I like how Dib just isn’t down right scared of Gaz all the time, like he is still willing to be selfish about himself, giving her the shadow hog curse and lying ABOUT IT LMAO WHAT AN ASSHOLE. Dib then starts to act fucking dumb af, like “OH NO I DIDNT DO CRAP GAZ 0W0W0W0W0W0W0W0W0W0W00″ But Gaz b like: nah hoe Dib’s still being an ass, then the ep JUST GETS FUCKING BETTER.  One of my alltime favorite things about this ep is that you can slowly see Dib get more and more scared, and Gaz more and more upset, you can tell something really bad is going to happen to Dib at the end, but you don’t know what, and it’s even more scary because its Gaz...THAT IS JUST, SUCH ASMAZING WRITING, I REALLY ADORE SHIT LIKE THAT, GOD.  I love how Gaz dosen’t start getting angry too early, I like how you see her eat every single food and creepy music is just being played, she’s also not eating all the food too fast, you can just FELL SHIT BOUTTA HAPPEN SOON 4 REAL  one of my favorite fucking animation clips from this ep is just when Gaz is eating and just spitting it all in Dib’s face while he’s reading his book trying to fix this curse, you can start to feel Dib, and how much he is starting to panic, its amazing,.  _______  AND THEN THE FUCKING, MASHED PATATO PART HHABSJDGEK THAT PART HAD ME DYING, AND WHEN GAZ OPENED HER EYES WHILE DOING IT IT WAS SO FUCKING CURSED, AND THEN GAZ JUST GIVES UP AND THROWS THE FOOD AT SOME RANDOM ASS AND DIB IS LIKE “NOOO NOT ZITA” ITS SO FUCKING DUMB AND PERFECT I LOVE IT.  I forgot to add this but I love Gaz’s voice through out this and how she is acting, she’s not too too scary (at the start at least) like how shes acting and her voice tone and everything, which makes it even more scary for some reason, like its not overdone, u fucking SCARED LIKE U CAN TELL SOME SHIT BOUTTA GO DOWN.  side note I love how Gaz’s teacher is nothing like mrs. Bitters, its so funny.  ALSO??? ALSO???? I LOVE THE LITTLE MOMENT WHERE GAZ AND DIB IS HOLDING HANDS WHILE WALKING HOME, LOVE THAT, LOVE THAT SOOO MUCH, SO CUTE WTF. also I LOVE THE PIG GIRL THING. Just seeing art for that in that ep is so cool, AND WHEN GAZ IS IN THAT LITTLE PIGGY OUTFIT SO SO CUTE, I’m telling you, Gaz’s animal is Pigs, like Dib’s animal is moths. It fits too well. It’s so so cool to see something crazy and insane happening to Gaz for a change and not Dib and Zim. And its still just as funny, if not, even MORE FUNNY.  and i adore the PART WHERE DIB IS JUST TALKING TO A RANDOM HOBO LIKE ITS SO FUCKING RANDOM AND POINTLESS IM WATCHING THE EP RN AND I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT JUST EXISTS LMAOO  aND it is super super cute when Dib was talking to Zim, just, that part was so perfect, you can tell that Dib really does care. people really took unique, interesting and loveable black (*afro-latino in miles’ case smooch) characters and turned them into meme loving, bland accesories for white characters, huh. ofc im talking abt miles morales and shuri

other people will word this much more eloquently than i will but im. pressed and need to complain. its like people see these characters, like them at a base level but their blackness scares them. for them to truly like shuri, they exaggerate her laughing at an outdated meme and made her mcu peters best friend or bucky‘s mammy, totally ignoring that she’s a genius, and like. black. she doesn’t care about white people as shown multiple in BP but since people Don‘t Like When Things Aren’t About Them, they completely forgoe that character trait and just give her random characteristics that aren’t even hers, or they completely ignore her lol.

with miles its different, because so many people claim to love their „uwu precious boy“ but if u ask them about the things they love about him, it’s gonna be very generic and probably centered around a white character. fandom has completely erased his parents, one of miles’ (and itsv as a movie tee bee atch) core strengths, and replaced them with Peter B. Parker, even though he exists solely as a mentor-weird-uncle-brother character in canon. theres little to no headcanons about miles and his parents or his uncle, or their dynamics pre-miles, or once miles is demasked etc, but i see thousands of pictures of liv (in fact before i saw the movie i saw more fanart of liv than i did of miles lmaoo) or long metas and fics about spider-ham and noirs intense love, or angsty comics about gwen‘s peter, but barely any actual content about miles.

and i already know tons of people are readying up their keyboard to say „but OP i LOVE miles and create/consume a bunch of his content daily :)“ and like whaddya want to bet that most of that content is either generic „miles is a meme loving innocent baby boy who likes homestuck and listens to kpop and he‘s so BABEY and he’s an innocent uwu cinnamonroll who could never hurt a fly“ or..

„miles is so done with everyones whacky antics and hes constantly spouting badly written aave and he never speaks spanish, he‘s overly violent and he steals his art supplies, everyone counts on him to deal with their problems and he never asks for anything in return because he’s always okay!“

and a lot of people try to make up for these bland portrayals by projecting hard on him by making him gbt or mentally ill, but they completely ignore that if they’re not black, they will never understand how it feels to be black and lgbt or black and mentally ill- and i see a bunch of people say that race and sexuality, gender etc have no overlap, and that‘s such an ignorant statement.

if ur white, you are seen as the default- so even if u are a minority in any other way, you are still white, therefore there is no other identity that you have to deal with alongside being nt, lgbt, disabled, etc- when ur a POC, specifically black, we dont get that privilege. being black and gay is a totally different expierence than being white and gay, but no one seems to get that.

but anyway, said portrayals completely flanderize or straight up ignore miles‘ canon traits and interests because tbh nonblacks cannot empathize with a black character if they do not conform to something familiar, something “safe”. and even with nbpoc, the safe zone is whiteness, so y’all give him white interests, white experiences, white ideals etc without even thinking abt it. and its just- why say you like a character and then change everything about them? its mad confusing

since im not afro-latine (or at least i dont claim it) i cant talk abt his specific experiences in the world as a young afrolatino dude, but thats the great thing abt tumblr, eventually someone who can relate to miles on a deep level will write these headcanons, and fics, and metas. they’re just overshown by whiteness lmao

- THE BOY IS A TODOROKI

-dabi has a lot of self-destructive habits; smoking, drinking, promiscuous behavior, etc. all formed out of a persistent need to spite endeavor…i mean it’s not canon that dabi smokes but from what ive seen in fanart and fic (including my own) we’ve all pretty much decided that dabi chain smokes and i wont be surprised if we see a panel in the manga of him casually lighting one up with twice and giran soon

i mean he’s already the physical representation of smoker’s lungs so he might as well lol 

-despite his appearance, dabi has a really nice singing voice, it’s kinda rough and soulful, and when he was living at home he used to sing shouto to sleep. I like to think he does that now in the VA. It’s something not a lot of people know about him, and him singing to you is a sign of trust and affection. i have this hc that shigaraki has a lot of nightmares so he doesnt sleep well, but on those nights where he’s feeling bad, dabi sings to him and it puts him out like a light. 

-dabi often goes into protective big brother mode with toga, he cant help but take care of the little psycho lol like sometimes he’ll steal food for her and stuff 

-who do you think introduced shouto to cold soba, hm?

-a lot of people think dabi is homeless; I can’t say I agree tbh I saw this movie pretty recently about people living in a technically condemned building and it was full of really shady people who kinda fell off the grid sidenote: the movie was horrible and disgusting but the idea was interesting and I picture dabi living in a ratty old apartment like that, with bare essentials and around people who wont ask questions cause they’ve also got things to hide

-I think his burns are self-inflicted; the result of relentless determination to master using blue flames and I think Dabi would rather die than use anything less

- i do, however, think he burned himself while he was still at home. I dont believe that shouto was the first to be put through endeavor’s “training” but I think enji gave up on dabi pretty early on, once shouto’s ice/fire abilities manifested, and dabi, desperate to prove him wrong, pushed himself to be better, until the inevitable happened. And if Fuyumi hadn’t found him, smoldering, foaming at the mouth, screaming in pain, that dabi probably would’ve died from his injuries. 

- Dabi officially ran away from the hospital after being isolated in a burn room for months, with only one visit from Endeavor. The sole purpose of that visit being to tell Dabi to his face that he was nothing but a failed prototype.

some hcs of dabi currently in the VA:

-dabi can fall asleep literally anywhere

-how many edgy coats does dabi have? the world may never know

-dabi is a pretty sly pickpocket; he kinda had to learn to get money quick since finding a regular job might’ve been kinda hard 

-when he’s feeling talkative, dabi actually makes for a great conversationalist and drinking buddy; i imagine that’s why him and twice get along so well

- i also like to think that shigaraki occasionally enjoys his company, when dabi isn’t trying to pick a fight with him or insult him

-when he left home, he destroyed all record of himself; dabi made sure he fell completely off the grid

-if you follow me, i assume you’ve read or are at least aware of the shigadabi series i wrote where shiggy is cold and falls asleep on dabi but if ya havent: i like to think that because of his quirk, dabi’s natural body temperature is a lot higher than that of a normal person, which would normally be concerning but in a superhuman society, im sure an elevated body temp that doesnt fry your brain is probably the least concerning thing you’d see in an emergency room but anyways yeah because of this dabi has become the designated space heater and he hates it so much

- dabi has a really high pain tolerance. living with a large portion of his body burned and scarred could not have been a cake walk for anyone, quirk or no quirk, and he’s since learned to live with that constant pain

- dabi may look like a homeless bump but he actually takes surprisingly good care of himself. again, because of the degree of his burns, dabi is particularly susceptible to infection and illness so he has no choice but to be conscious of his hygiene and health. 

-after he ran away, dabi had to give himself a crash course in self-medicating and first aid. Due to burn scar contractures, dabi was often in extreme pain and very prone to infection, so he had to learn how to care for his wounds, how to bring himself relief, what types of aid where most effective, which medications had which effects,how quickly they kicked in, and most importantly, where to get them. 

-in that same vein, dabi has become very knowledgeable on antibiotics and basic first aid; he also knows how to properly stitch a wound and can do it very quickly so he’s the makeshift medic for the VA 

-being a combatant, dabi’s staples get damaged pretty often so he changes them out fairly often and it is absolute agony to remove them one by one, especially the ones under his eyes, so dabi literally has to get himself just drunk enough to take the edge off but still be able to swap them out without hurting himself; this is another reason i think dabi has a high pain tolerance 

-he carries an emergency suture kit in that little leather fanny pack thing; sometimes they get damaged mid battle and dabi has to stitch himself up in the moment until he can replace the staple that came out 

-changing gears a little, personally, i think dabi is a lot like shouto in that he’s funny, especially when he doesnt mean to be funny. dabi has that same aloof personality that shouto has because they’re brothers and he strikes me as the type to have a very dry sense of humor. that scene in chapter 160 where dabi says he gets car sick while completely blank-faced, that’s what i mean lol you cant tell me shouto wouldnt act the exact same way if he were in that situation

-dabi hates the rain; it makes his joints ache and his burns feel more tender and it’s awful 

-dabi likes spicy foods spicy food for spicy boi

-dabi has A Lot of piercings, and he’s done most of them himself 

-since he dropped out of school, dabi isn’t academically brilliant, but he’s a pretty fast learner and is very street savvy. And don’t mistake this for me thinking he’s dumb, because he’s not. Dabi’s a pretty intelligent guy, he just didnt have the opportunity to learn a lot of stuff. I was talking about this with a friend on twitter a while back, but the gist of that convo was that shigaraki is highly intelligent, especially academically and AFO encouraged him to read a lot and learn about a variety of subjects, because knowledge is power and blah blah blah

 so fast forward to the current time, shigaraki often reads the paper and random books (the book in question at the time of the convo was animal farm) and dabi likes to ask him about what he’s reading and is genuinely interested in shiggy’s literary criticisms, ideas, etc. and he learns a lot  

- idk what else to say lmao so i’ll cut off here i guess but yeah i have a lot of thoughts about the dabster
