i've seen a lot of dp fans in the dpxdc fandom talk about not having access to comics so here. it's completely free, good quality scans (for most things), basically any dc comic you could want is there. you should have an adblocker but the ads aren't the worst if you don't, just noticeable and annoying. you're not gonna get a virus, i've been using the site for years, as have many other fans.

if you genuinely want to read the comics, take advantage of the sites comic fans have been using. there's new and old stuff and everything in between. crossovers too. whatever you want to read, you'll find there.

Never use Surfshark VPN

I just wanted to make this post to warn yall about it, I am not a tech genius but I wanted to get a vpn and surfshark was one I knew about so i subscribed to them because it seemed ok, that was where I fucked up.

fast forward a year and now I am trying to cancel my yearly auto-renewing subscription which costs 70 fuckin bucks, didnt find much use in surfshark as it was too laggy when using its vpn services so i go to billing and try to cancel.

there was no cancel button so that was odd, and you cant turn off auto-renew so i figure ill just get rid of my card info so it cant charge me.

i cant or at least i cant figure out how.

I go to help and find the cancellation area after scrolling past why you should keep the subscription and it tells me to contact their live support to cancel, It requires my name and gmail, I know for a fact my gmail is correct but it says its wrong and that my name is wrong no matter how many ways I enter it and I cant find a possible username anywhere on the site i could use. Its for all practical reasons impossible for me to cancel, not just the fact I cant even talk to customer support, but the people on reddit that do, talk to a bot and then the agents take months to actually turn off the subscription so it charges again and there is no refunds.

we need to use this as a motivator to help others as much as you can. we need to be there for eachother in person as well as online.

1. go to protests. you should absolutely be participating in activism if you’re able. if you can’t participate in protests due to being too young to volunteer or drive yourself, or having conservative parents that won’t let you, or having illness or disability that prevents it, or any other circumstances that are out of your control, spread the news, post about upcoming protests and news, or just donate. if you’re young, and an artist, try to get a paypal set up and do commissions. help in any way you can, even if it’s just reblogging posts that are important.

2. volunteer, help others, donate, etc. support planned parenthood and other abortion clinics. help out fellow working class citizens. help impoverished and homeless individuals. unionize, fight for workers rights. support others in any way you can.

3. avoid consumerism as much as possible. advocate for environmental laws and against oil companies. grow your own food. i have always had terrible luck with plants and i grew a bunch of peppers and tomatoes this year, you just need a lot of plant food/fertilizer and sun for them. learn to compost and use food scraps. learn to be as self sufficient as possible. stop using other unethical companies, like amazon. for those who can afford it, try to stop buying from large corporations in general, support local and small businesses. stop buying as much clothes, don’t buy fast fashion. learn essential tools like diy and patching up clothes.

4. VOTE in local, congressional and state elections. make sure your id is up to date and you’re registered to vote. it’s extremely important to vote every time you can, we need to elect better officials and get conservative politicians out of the supreme court, electoral college, healthcare and school districts, etc.

5. LEARN ABOUT CYBERSECURITY. this is vital. if you’re an active protester and activist, the government will consider you a threat. you need to get a VPN (Mullvad doesn’t collect user information, they were raided and weren’t holding any customer info.) you need to use adblock, ESPECIALLY with social media getting worse and worse with advertisements. you need to use a virtual machine when downloading/pirating, and you need to check the fule for viruses. you need to use secure browsers (Brave, Tor, Librewolf, even Firefox.) use your antivirus. (windows defender is the best, also malwarebytes is a good option.) change your passwords and don’t keep them on your computer. most people’s privacy is already compromised but the sooner you work to counteract companies collecting info on you the better.

6. You need to start keeping physical media. start burning discs, recording vhs tapes, whatever. streaming companies can revoke the right to media at any time. Don’t let important content become lost media. If you decide to pirate instead of using legal downloads, DO NOT PIRATE MEDIA UNPROTECTED. either use a vpn or go somewhere with public wifi, and use Tor or any other deep web browser. Your wifi company can see when you pirate media, and they can and will bring you to court over it.

7. support other minorities, fight for everyone’s rights. stop talking over groups you’re not apart of, let them have the stage. tell others about them, the activists they should support and how they can. stop arguing over stupid shit and appealing to moderates and conservatives. the right wants us all gone, no matter how normal you try to act for them. they want to return to “traditional values” and most minorities don’t have a place in that world. your energy is far more useful helping the victims of oppression than trying to change the mind of fascists.

8. keep alternate email, social media, and other forms of communication on hand for friends and minors who may be kept from contacting others by conservative or abusive parents or other family. always have a back up plan if their privacy is violated or accounts are deleted. if your privacy is being invaded by someone with control over you, make multiple alternate accounts and tell your friends about them. have multiple ways to contact people, like from a school computer or a game console.

9. it’s been said by many, but delete period trackers, get contraceptives, birth control, and various other ways to prevent/counteract pregnancy, and don’t relinquish any information about potential pregnancies to anyone.

10. vaccines are in danger of going away in america, it’s extremely important that you start getting vaccines as soon as possible.

11. start getting gender affirming medication, surgeries and clothes immediately, and have a back up plan if you can’t take any medication anymore.

12. DONATE TO GAZA FUNDRAISERS. PROTEST FOR PALESTINE. Don’t stop fighting for Palestinian rights.

13. Keep your friends close. Make sure they know you love them, and be there for them.

HOW TO FUCKING TORRENT

I just saw somebody link a GOOGLE DRIVE FULL OF TOKUSATSU. And I just wanted to say that is literally the worst possible fucking way you could get access to these shows. Toei does not fuck around and your google drives are NOT protected. This is not directly related to Toku, but I once saw somebody get SUED for having a google drive full of Moomin shows. Sued and still paying fines. This was years ago.

So I’m teaching you people how to Torrent with some help of my GF. Torrenting is easy, it requires very little, and you’ll be super happy you did. I’m doing this with the implication that you are looking to watch Tokusatsu shows but IDC what the hell you’re downloading, just keep yourself safe.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

GET A VPN. If you don’t already have one. I don’t fucking care what VPN you're using as long as it covers your computer.

GET A TORRENT DOWNLOADER. Get anything but fuckin UTorrent its full of adware. QBITTORRENT is your best bet, also its free.

FIND A TORRENT SITE. They're fucking everywhere. If you're looking for Toku everyone uploads to NYAA . SI (DO NOT LINK THIS SITE DIRECTLY PLEASE FFS)

GET SOME ADDITIONAL HARD DRIVE SPACE. This is optional but if you're gonna do this a lot get some extra space. My Gf torrents a lot so she needs a lot of hard drive storage.

THATS ALL YOU NEED NOW YOU CAN TORRENT.

1. TURN YOUR VPN ON.

2. GO TO YOUR FAVORED TORRENT SITE.

3. FIND WHAT YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD. Preferably one with a large amount of Seeders. Seeders are people helping you download faster. No seeders means that it’s gonna take a long ass time.

4. NOW DOWNLOAD IT. If you're using Nya, just click the little magnet next to the link. Make sure its in the language and media you want, not every database does this but SOME do.

If your browser doesnt open your torrent program immediately you can just download the torrent file itself, Torrent files basically act as a key to tell your torrent program where and what to look for when downloading! Once your torrent program picks up the source, you can then tell it where you want to put the download!

5. WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH DOING ITS THING. Use this time to reflect on how swag you are for torrenting.

6. EXIT THE CLIENT.  Make sure you exit instead of just closing the window, because it could still be running and turning your VPN off while seeding is ill advised.

7. CLOSE THE VPN. 

CONGRADULATIONS WE JUST TAUGHT YOU HOW TO TORRENT.

You can learn how to seed too! Because sometimes, older torrents get LOST because there's no seeders! Everything is peer to peer, so if you want a file to stay up, it needs seeders! Its always courteous to seed what you leech!

Character stat pages: we just started these! Starting with Bells Hells' level up to 12, the first level-up after CR Stats stopped updating, we started subpages to track the changes with each level-up (see Fearne's as an example), though level 13 updates are still in progress. These are also in use for the Rivals from Call of the Netherdeep (see Ayo's here). We will be doing this for further Bells Hells updates and hypothetical future campaigns. The main thing keeping us from going back and making level updates for Campaigns 1 and 2 or earlier Bells Hells levels is the time commitment, especially since this information is already available on CR Stats. Should you wish to help fill this in, we would love to have you. We do have a page for Sending specifically, but not for all spells. CritRoleStats will have this information through January 2024, and the Omen Archive has it for Campaign 3. Fractured and Adrift

I was going to write a big huge post with lots of screen shots and chart data and analysis that I'd saved on my phone, but honestly I'm too sick right now to sit up and organize all that. If you go on twitter, you see in real time what is happening, anyway.

Bottom lines:

it's very clear to me that ads, payola, pay to play, vpn and other "networking" tactics that go against what BTS has always been about have pretty much come into play--for a catchy, but ultimately impersonal and generic, pop single that was given to only one member.

I'm not just disappointed, I'm gutted. I don't know where to go from here, as someone who used to take pride in being an ARMY and stanning artists who made it to the top the organic and hard way, by being genuine and talented and real with us.

As always, I look to my ult-bias, Jimin. His debut album was abandoned the moment he hit #1, yet he continues on with this company and to be a team player. He was with JK on private time during a couple's holiday. He's been filmed with and is likely working on some sort of project with JK right now. These are my cues. So without any further information about what is happening, I will continue to follow Jimin's lead.

I am a person who believes in the potential and the very best of others until I just can't any more. But I also cannot hide from the glaringly obvious. Jimin was mistreated, and Jungkook was prioritized in ways I personally find dishonorable.

I don't know how much, if any, input JK had in this. He's got a Masters in Communications, a decade of industry experience, and owns stock in his company; but I also know that talent are very rarely given complete insight or say over sales and marketing strategies--that's external, executive business decisions. I don't know what conversations, trade-offs, or internal pressure came into play here.

At this point, I would say I'm very adrift.

I'm a good soldier. I bought the CD, I bought each version of the song, I added it to my playlists. But I no longer feel needed as a fan for Seven; I feel replaced by Scooter's dollars. And I don't feel any personal connection to this particular song, as catchy as it is. I was excited when the styles JK helped choose seemed to be an homage to Jimin's Face, but... now a lot of the elements of this work seem rushed and disjointed. I just don't know.

I'm very worried about what this rollout means for our 7, especially how they are supposed to come together in a fair and equitable way after military service. I'm trying to read through their book when I can stay awake long enough. Trying to trust and hope and manifest the best.

I wish there was more transparency, more communications around what the game plan is, and if the members are all on board with everything.

All I can think to do is to keep loving Jimin and the people who are good to Jimin, keep working hard for what I want and not invest energy and time into what I don't. I do believe that Jungkook and Jimin love one another.

But I'm... fracturing... inside. It hurts.

I'm very ill. Maybe I'm just too emotional right now because I'm so sickly. Maybe I just need more time and more data to have a more rational perspective.

All I can think to do is hang in there and wait to be more anchored in facts before I can decide what all this means--for Jikook, for BTS.

I'm sorry if this post isn't very coherent. I'm on a bunch of steroids until I can get to a specialist and the brain fog is immense. I'm gonna go rest now. You should consider the relative prices of a sturdy VPN to the cost of all your monthly streaming subscriptions and see what I mean: The mere fact that so many of these services trade the same movies back and forth on a bi-monthly basis only proves one thing, They don't respect you or your hard earned money. The prices go up, the services offered get more narrow and ill-defined, and worse to boot, but the torrent sites still exist and they still have everything I could ever want.

There are other guides on how to get any movie or album you want online, and maybe I'll write another, but today I want to talk you through something different. Piracy for the modern age, stealing something that would make the eyes of any tin-foil antenna wielding cable pirate misty with pride.

Now, we address the app on your phone. Real heads have known about this trick for years, but it recently came to my attention.

ReVanced is a revival of the original Vanced app modding tool, and what it lets us do is very simple: bypass restrictions in many of our favorite apps like youtube, duolingo and others, so that we can get back essential features that have been paywalled. Specifically for youtube, we can now access off-screen playback, windowed playback, ad-free viewing, and we even GAIN a feature for our trouble, sponsor block, which uses crowdsourced data to find and skip embedded sponsor spots in videos. Think Squarespace and raid:shadow legends.

When you're installing revanced, you need to be careful not to install a pre-made hacked .apk, you really need to apply them yourself because nefarious users are everywhere and WILL send you malware. The ReVanced Manager app makes it very easy anyway, so you shouldn't need to rely on pre-hacked apks anyway.

You can get revanced from their page. Make sure it's the real deal, because there ARE fakes around.

You can find a current or slightly out-of-date youtube app around online very easily if you search. A slightly out of date apk is preferable here, as it means more of the hacks will work out of the box. If you've already downloaded the ReVanced app, then it will suggest a version for you to download.

"What about my TV?!" I haven't done this one personally, though I do intend to soon. My understanding is that you can use the command line on your fireTV stick to download a hacked app there as well! It's not an Enter The Matrix-tier operation, you just have to type a couple lines into a console. Super simple!

"Why aren't there more links in this post?" The companies have the internet too, and you probably know how to use it a bit more than they do. Posting links is like handing info to the enemy.

Day 22 of Whumptober 2024: Restless

No. 22: BLEEDING THROUGH BANDAGES Tourniquet | Reopening Wounds | “Oh that’s not good.”

AO3 got banned in my country and VPNs have not been working well on my PC lately, so I am not going to post these there for now. But hopefully I can do that at some point.

This is taking place in my own DnD/fantasy world.

Barnaby is a fungal mage who loves mixing drinks. A mycologist mixologist, if you will.

This is a moment from his teenagehood.

Restless

Barnaby shambles out of his room leaning heavily on his new cane to walk around a just little. He has had it for a week now but he just cannot get used to it. He has been explained how to use it properly a couple times but that method is clearly not working now that he has grown even weaker and his leg is in even rougher condition due to the experimental treatment they have been trying on him which involved cutting some mushrooms off him which did not help much but left him with fresh stitched up wounds and a lot of pain.

He has gotten tired of sitting or lying in bed all day. The muscles on the healthy side of his body ache from inaction. This little walk might hurt like hell but he feels so relieved and free that it is worth it. He wonders if he will ever get to climb a tree again or if he will just die in a few more weeks. Nothing the doctors have done to him has helped in the slightest, though he was told he is a rarely resilient patient The Plague is taking its time with him. Which does not necessarily mean he will get better. Just that it will take much longer for the infection to kill him.

He has been told his natural magic is to thank. He had no idea it was awaken until his illness has begun. Everyone in his family can cast spells, so him and his parents have just thought he was a bit of a late bloomer when it came to those powers.

Apparently, no. His magic was just very hard to detect. They classified it as "Adaptive Shapeshifting". They said, it would change his body subtly in response to his physical needs or danger but since he was young and, therefore, just developing his magic, it was too weak and minor to notice in most cases.

This revelation was supposed to be one of the most important moments of his life. He would start getting lessons with a private teacher and getting ready to attend an Academy to hone his magical skills further.

He tried feeling excited but it was futile in the face of his upcoming demise. He has neither strength, nor time to learn even the basics. What is the point of trying then?

His cane catches on a crack in the ancient castle's floor, sending him forward and down and the cane clattering to the ground. He barely manages to catch himself with his hands, so he does not smack his face into the floor.

He feels a sharp tearing pain in his right hip as he tries to get up as well as warmth spreading around there and soaking through his pants. Soon enough he is sitting in a small puddle of his own blood.

"Oh that's not good…" He mumbles to himself, grabbing the cane and leaning on it heavily, as he forces himself to get up.

He finds he can no longer lean on that leg without searing pain, so he turns around and begins to walk back to his room at an even slower pace.

His doctor will chew him out for this for sure, he thinks.

He is right.
