Every color has personality. Black, red, and white are common colors in the show because of their personality. Black speaks of darkness, death, evil, and nothingness. It speaks of night, but I would also use black for silence and secrecy. Red speaks of love, passion, energy, fury, and danger. It's... devilish. Fiery. Heart and blood. The perfect color choice for Delena. White speaks of innocence, purity. It's angelic, soft and... lamb-like.

The blue and red dress argument is the difference between Damon and Stefan. Stefan is safe. Damon is a little danger. Stefan is only red when he's the Ripper. Stop signs and traffic lights are red for that reason.

You could place red and blue in a temperature theme. Red is hot. Blue is cold. A lack of oxygen would make someone cyanotic, meaning their lips and skin turns blue. Understandably, they switch from one shade of blue to another when Elena dies. It's cold and cyanotic.

I've finished the pilot and it's... suuuper weird OMG XD But very very well done, amazing cinematography (I already imagine th gifs lol) , and the actors are super talented. I'm downloading the 2nd one to know if I'll continue or not :)

I think you misunderstood my post; I have had those dreams the past four nights, but that's not what I'm drawing my conclusions from.
