My first impression of the Ikemen Villains guys:
[Disclaimer: I know nothing about these characters asides from the descriptions shared around Tumblr. I probably won't play the game any time soon considering that its being first released in Japanese, so unless it later on gets released in English, I won't play. Also this post is partially a joke, don't take me too seriously.]
William Rex
He gives off a more "evil, avoid at all costs, worldwide disaster" vibe than Gilbert ever did. My first thought upon seeing him was, "omg- Vlad???" But then I read his description and thought, "ohhh. So Vlad, but evil. Like if Vlad and Motonari had a baby..."
Harrison Gray
First thought, "yo, Edgar, what are you doing here??" Like bro does look like Edgar, even his description screams Edgar to me. I've seen others compare him with Nokto, but I havent paid much attention to Nokto so maybe thats why I cant see it? Idk. But yeah, I guess since Ikerev is over, Edgar had to find a new profession :/
Liam Evans
Omg, look. Loki grew up, he's a big kid now!
Idk how to really react to this one? Like, ok, he's got the chesire cat curse or whatever, he looks a bit like Loki, ..and he's supposed to be sexy? I mean, I see the vibe they were going for. But if they try to shove that "drop-dead gorgeous" or "sexy ladies man" shit down our throats like they did with Yoshimoto and Shingen in Ikesen (could also probably find other examples in the other games..) then I might end up hating him.
ALSO HIS POSE AND SORTA HIS OUTFIT REMINDS ME OF YVES-
Elbert Greetia
Omg its Chevalier but if he was actually angsty. Or maybe it's just Lancelot.
Ok- so its mostly like the hair that screams both Lancelot and Chevalier to me. Its Lancelot's style but Chev's color. And the eyes could easily be a mix of both-
But he also kinda reminds me of Satan from Obey Me, with the whole "obsessively collects beautiful things and leaves them untidy in his room." That's literally Satan but with books, but Satan also likes beautiful things.
Alfons Slyvatica
Omg is that Sebastian Michaelis?? (Im sorry- Ive never even seen Black Butler, I'll go home now-)
Idk. Ive seen others compare him to like, Jean but evil. I look at him and see Sebastian Michaelis. Or maybe like, Kicho because of the hair. But then the line "With his consistent dishonesty, he teases you, but-" makes me think of, strangely, Mitsuhide?
Roger Barel
I've seen other compare him to Jin. I look at him and see Loid Forger. Which funny enough, his VA, Eguchi Takuya, also voices Loid Forger-
Its mostly the hair style, and the face, and the glasses- like if he was blonde, with blue (is it blue-? Or does Loid have green-?) eyes then he'd look even more like Loid. I cant really think of any ikemen series characters he reminds me of, at least not appearance. But with the part in his description that says "An egoist who seems rational and will go to any lengths for his own research." makes me think of Faust for some reason..
Jude Jazza
He doesnt immediately remind me of anyone. Ive seen comparisons to Clavis and Silvio, which kinda makes sense? I guess I could see it. The uhh "A twisted man, he has a promise he wants to fulfill and a sullen heart." at first made me think of Mitsuhide. But then I remembered the definition of sullen and that doesnt fit Mitsu. But I guess the having many enemies and being seen as a cold-blooded person who loves the despair and misfortune of others DOES fit Mitsuhide, at least on the surface. Idk. Im bad at analysis like this.
But also like- I share a birthday with this man. Like the exact same date, Dec. 13. So im gonna end up HATING him.
Ellis Twilight
His appearance doesnt really remind me of anyone right away. But his description of being somewhat disturbing yet kind and gentle to everyone, being strangely obsessed with other people's "Happiest Moments in Life" and the having a "love" that he wants to prove makes me think of Charles.
But like, the opposite. Because Charles wants someone to love him, while it seems like Ellis wants to prove his love to someone? So... Charles but emo.
Victor
So.. A lot of people speculate he's the one who put the curses on the others, because his own curse is scratched out. Like we cant read it. Some have compared him to Sariel, because he's like the guide in the game. But also uhh- sorta reminds me of Amon. Maybe its the long hair (probably is).

Hello there now that I know Masamune is your fav I know I had to ask which exactly where your predictions snd headcanons about him that turned true in his route both main and sequel ? How do you get to like him and why he is your face ? I can't wait to hear your answer 😍😍but pls take your time 🙏🙏 Have a great day 😘😘
Hello, Julie!
Overall, I theorised that Masamune experiences a lot of anxiety, and that his cool persona is the front to manage that. (The former was confirmed in the sequel, the latter -- Eternal Love Route Epilogue, in a conversation with master Kosai). I theorised that he's afraid of forming close relationships due to his duty, that he believes himself to be fundamentally lacking and thus to be unable to protect things dear to him. I also figured this fear is largely what's motivated him entering short relationships with focus on physical pleasure -- in other words, I expected him to soften and to be extremely loyal once he settles down with somebody safe. (Which... I suppose has been confirmed in some of his birthday story sales).
As for why I like him... Oh love. In short: the choices he's made despite his circumstances are nothing short of admirable. His desire to learn, to better himself, but also to try and understand you... Once upon a time I wrote multiple posts just rambling about different aspects of his character. I COULD GO ON AND ON. (And I think those posts are linked on my masterlist? Ikemen Sengoku -> Character Thoughts -> IkeSen Masamune Analysis; my English was not so great then, though.)
I hope you had a wonderful day too! <3
#answered#queengiuliettafirstlady#ikesen masamune#masamune date#ikemen sengoku masamune#overall it's so stupidly satisfying when you can predict the chara development of your fave#it means that you understand the direction the chara is headed to well#so it makes me soo extremely proud that i was able to predict those and a couple things with chevie too ahh#i just wish i started playing pri sooner so that i had more time to theorise about chevie

𝕊𝕋𝔸ℝ𝕋 ℙ𝔸𝔾𝔼
In short… my blog is just for fun. Funny observations, silly jokes, comparisons and analysis just because I like it. And… to express emotions. Sometimes I write short stories, but nothing major, I make summaries to fill in the gaps in the translations. And since I am reading several games at the time, my posts change from game to game pretty randomly. Again… it's just for fun, mine and everyone else who wants to follow my example. About me is here (in case you wanna know). The meaning of the link colors is here. Currently working on is here.
I'm not a native speaker of either English or Japanese. I don't know Japanese at all, but I have my own ideas about how this language works, because I started learning Korean, and these languages have some similarities. Based on that, there may most likely be errors in my translations/posts. I use translation app (two actually) and rewrite the text to a readable state. Some phrases are not clear to begin with, and I use my gut feeling and some experience of reading such poorly translated texts that have taught me to see meaning in them. My summaries are always full of my comments and jokes. If you prefer a clean translation, then you definitely won't like it. So… you have every right not to trust my translations. I do them so that others can familiarize themselves with the events and main routes. Not in detail, but in general. I don't have enough knowledge for more.
There are several people who do full translations, and I am very grateful to them for what they do. This is an incredibly difficult job that requires a lot of time and concentration. @/judesmoonbeauty @/kurishiri @/archiveikemen @/dear-mrs-otome @/dark-frosted-heart @/aishangotome @/otomehoneyybearr @/caffedrine @/aquagirl1978 @/mayu-otome @/reccyls @/myusuchaa @/sakura-samsara Most likely, there are even more of them, I just haven't found them yet.

I would like him to have an evil witch chuckle when he is teasing.
But if he is genuinely amused by something, not a teasing amusement, but surprised by joy, I want him to be able to laugh freely, maybe even with a little bit of surprise that there are still things in this world that can give him that moment of freedom from his self-imposed burdens.
24/10 Lmaooo, what was she expecting? An evil witch chuckle?

The order of routes you read might influent your perception of the suitors
I'm in the mood for Ieyasu right now and re-reading his route. When I first read his route about half a year ago, I was uncomfortable with him because Ieyasu was so curt and insensitive, it took a really, really light-hearted person to fall for him. What more, I just finished Kenshin's route at that time, completely smitten and heart broken (I mean, it's Kenshin, y'all know the drill). And when you went from someone who was obsessed with you to someone who made you chase around, it would be a turn off. Same things happened to Shingen, because I read Shingen's route after Hideyoshi's, and although I dont fall for Hideyoshi (Mitsuhide completely destroyed Hideyoshi in this 😂 and I'm unbiased - the chemistry between Mitsu and the mc is appalling), Hideyoshi's route was written beautifully - one of the most well written story in Ikesen, so I can't help comparing the plot. Too many things about Shingen can be explored but eventually left out; and in my opinion, they need to include alot more Kennyo's appearance in Shingen's story to further understand Shingen's intelligence and facilitate Kennyo's route in the future (I dont even know if they intended to write Kennyo a route).
Well, things change a bit now. First, I remind myself not to compare too much. Second, I understand the characters and their backstory more now. And since I just finished Nobunaga's route, a charismatic, commanding, full of himself character, Ieyasu is a fresh air. He is loving but denial, making me flail at the slightest show of affection and giggle when he got embarased. It's not like their characters change, but rather my opinions on them change. Well, everybody's preferences are different and can change through times, afterall. Personally, if you don't have to grind on events, I suggest you wait a few days before starting a new route to avoid influence of the previous one, thus having a fresh start and a fair opinion on the route.

Okay, so I figured it out. The line that I thought went missing is actually there, but translated into something slightly more averse/negative.
The mandarin text says "(How surprising to see Kennyo in Echigo)" and "Seeing me stiffen from shock and nervousness, Kennyo sighed". I don't have the JP screens but I remember it was saying along the same thing.
So I think the translation is trying to ameliorate an issue that wasn't addressed in the original?
Like, I tend to have the impression that the birthday and event stories are meant to be somewhat separate from the Main Stories. Anticipating new players who just dropped in like maybe the very day before the event started and only have the Prologue to go by as context.
As the above, it doesn't actually say why MC is nervous to see Kennyo. She's not scared or anything, just uneasy.
But the Eng version actually made a point to insert a callback to the Kenshin Main Route, anticipating that players most likely have seen the situation that happened there.
There's a different sort of logic applied, which is interesting, I guess.

alright so... this one's gonna be long too lmao i may not have a lot to say about all characters? but i'll try to go through them one by one also warning: there will be some character negativity, i didn't like all the characters right away
the VERY first impressions i got were through reading the lil character cards that were on the official A3!EN twt before release most characters did not catch my eye then, i was pretty neutral on them (which is why i didn't expect to like the game as much as i do now when dling) but Citron's description REALLY caught my eye as a wannabe philologist, i fully expected him to be one of my faves going into the game (which... looking back, i was not wrong but ngl it wasn't as smooth of a journey as i expected) Misumi's design also caught my eye! but because of one very specific detail: with Ikemen games i had a pattern of liking boys with a mole under their eye (ikesen Mitsunari, ikerev Luka and others), and i DID NOT KNOW A3! wasn't originally a cybird game, so i expected that pattern to keep going which... well as much as i love Sumi now, it didn't continue >.<; sorry Sumi i love you
now... in game first + current impressions
Izumi: i was immediately drawn to her, she felt like a character of her own rather than a blank protag to insert onto and i loved that, i loved seeing all her thoughts and past and everything right from the prologue, she drew me in like i was Masumi (joking) and is the reason i stuck to reading the story at first Currently i still love her! she's amazing and i feel a rush of love whenever i see people talking about her or making art or fics with her, she's everything!
Sakuya: HE SEEMED SO CUTE AND EARNEST, i was immediately endeared to him and wanted the best for him Now i am still endeared to him and want the best for him, but i also admire him greatly and think he's a super cool character to analyse (points y'all at @/desikauwa for some AMAZING Sakkun characterisation and analysis)
Masumi: the amount of times i sighed at him and wanted him to shut up oh man... he was interesting to me but also just... annoying, it took me a while to warm up to him but now? now i think he's SUCH a cool and interesting character, i care about him sO MUCH and i love seeing him grow as much as he has, i love him, he's my third haru fave
Tsuzuru: as... i think everyone who's been a broke college student? i found him funny and relatable but i didn't think much of him til after reading a bit more of the story now i believe that this man has been CARRYING Mankai on his back through all these years, i admire his determination and passion so much... and i also think he needs a break
Itaru: i did NOT like Itaru at first holy shit i was so mad and annoyed at him with his constant excusing himself to go game and shit... i was kinda satisfied when Yuzo told him to leave because.. yeah i had been thinking the same thing oops but when he goes on about how he could maybe let people in again i began warming up to him now... ngl Itaru is not really among my faves? BUT i think he's cool, i admire his perspective on adulthood and his words from Alex live in my mind rent free, and i like his development a lot, he's a great character and i DO like him a lot tho
Citron: like i said, it hasn't been a smooth ride with my love for Citron, i was SO ready for him to be my fave but then... then the gimmick happened and i FELL FOR IT SO BAD, i was so disappointed at first with how he "just seemed the comedic relief" and oh... oh past Cam you were SO WRONG, i still had an interest with him and after reading main story i was firm in the "Citron fucks up in purpose" camp, haven't moved from there since then now i have written an essay on him along with An! (@/ginjithewanderer) and he's my haru fave as well as my third overall fave! he's SO FUN AND SO INTERESTING and i can talk so much about him (please talk to me about him) i love him
Chikage: i met Chikage through fanfic after having read through all of act 1. specifically through Athena(ChetRoi on AO3 / gachakitakoreJK on twt)'s Misadventures of shipper Tsuzuru, i was curious about him and did NOT know about the existence of the wiki yet lol so i began reading more of her ckit and i was... let's say intrigued by him, he seemed like my type to be honest. then i read about who he really was and i was SO ON BOARD with everything about him, i was thrilled to have a character like him around but... at that point juban had already firmly cemented themselves as my top faves, he could not dethrone them now.. well i am still thrilled to have him around and think about him a lot, i get kinda... waves? of loving him and brainrotting a lot over him but it comes and goes
Tenma: i could NOT stand Tenma oh man i was so annoyed at him and his spoilt brat attitude. i was biased lol bc he reminded me of... someone i know irl lol but after a while he too began growing on me now he's a character i care about very much! i have loved to see him grow and it excites me to think about it lol, i'm so proud of him and i love him, he's my dumbass son
Yuki: I WAS ON BOARD WITH YUKKI THE MOMENT HE WAS ON THE SCREEN i loved him and his sass (and snarking towards Tenma) made me his fan, then THAT mkyk CG came and then Sardines came and then Night Walk came and oh... oh i loved this kid so much now i'm super endeared towards Yuki while also looking up to him, i think he's the coolest and i am so proud of him, i really wanna see him grow further and achieve everything he wants to
Muku: oh boy... this kid... i loved him and i was so protective of him SO FAST, he was so baby to me, i needed to protect him at all costs. also to this day i'm amazed at how this casual josei game has one of the best depictions of anxiety and anxiety spirals i've ever seen (compared to my own experience with it at least) now... this is another kid i'm super proud of, i'm so amazed at how much he's grown into himself and how cool he is, while still being an adorable sweetheart who i still feel protective of lol
Misumi: Misumi my beloved triangle boy, like i said i was ready for him to be my fave, and i was immediately endeared to him the second he was on the screen, and he was my fave before i had read aki arc but oh well... you all know my faves now lol now i'm still super endeared to him, i love him and think he'd be a super cool person to hang around, he's also one of the first charas i mention when talking about cute A3! moments, but tbh i mostly let my friends lead the conversation when it comes to him
Kazunari: the moment the first sentence came out of his mouth i immediately associated him with my irl best friend, i've loved him ever since so yeah i've always loved Kazu a lot but now, after reading everything? well he's one of the characters who make me feel unwell (in the best way) he's so amazing and so interesting and i wanna study him under a microscope but also be his bestie... uh yeah... i think he's neat haha
Kumon: i also met Kumon through fanfic and it was one fic in specific where Juza brings Banri home and Kumon was like stewing over it and i was SO CONFUSED like who's this kid and what's going on? then i learnt about him and i was so hyped for him because i love anyone who loves Juza lol, then i read his arc and oh boy it... it sure made me feel something now i love this kid but he's the one i have the most grievances over when it comes to his arc (speaking as like... a chronically ill person and all) it's not like i think it's bad or anything but it's just not handled the way i would've preferred... still, i'd do anything for Kumon and i love him and his energy so much
Banri: oh boy... oh man like i said for the oshi question, even before reading aki arc "i read his picaresque flair chat about the rubik's cube and… *looks at my rubik's collection* ever since that moment i knew i was a goner…" and i HATED it. i liked him right away and i was SO TSUN about it, it took me months to actually admit he had SUEM'd his way to the top spot on my list. The more i read about him, the more i was intrigued by him and... uh... something else... AND THE ANGRIER (/lh) I GOT OVER IT now... well, it's been a while, but i hope i still am The Banri Essay Guy to people lmao, i'm obsessed with this man, my brain has a favourite chew toy and it's Banri fucking Settsu, i was and still am, indeed, a goner for this asshole, i am still tsun about him sometimes and i love to bully him but gdi i cannot deny that he's one of my two faves
Juza: how do i start this... Juza Hyodo beat the shit out of Banri Settsu and he and i both became obsessed with him. i was SO SATISFIED by the fight and how that went, and at how Juza regarded Banri i liked him a bit right away but... i genuinely do not know when he became my fave, somewhere along aki arc and after i was done using all my energy on being a tsun... he was There now he's my most beloved, he inspires me so much and i love and look up to him so much holy shit, i can't say it for Banri but Juza Hyodo sure is my muse, he's the bestest boy ever and i need to spoil him and give him all the love he deserves and and and... yeah you get it
Taichi: i... didn't like him that much... the energy was okay but that combined with him being so... desperate for (romantic) love turned me off, but tbh i was so focused on Banri and Juza that i just... handwaved it and didn't really care much for him. it was only after he began acting sus that i became interested in him now... i do care for him now lol ngl compared to the rest of aki, he's the one i have the least to say about and that always makes me feel guilty because i DO like him and he's sweet but... and i know he would hate this! he is kinda overshadowed by others to me >.< still, i love how much he's grown and i get emo when i think about it lol, i am very much looking forward to his future and growth!
Omi: MAAAAAAN i was intrigued by Omi as soon as the whole "showing him the theatre" thing happened, and i liked how warm and caring he seemed... honestly? he reminded of a trainer i had who i love lol so i was immediately warmed up to him but oh man i was NOT ready for his portrait holy SHIT that was what firmly cemented Omi's place in my heart now... i don't talk about him so much but i love Omi SO MUCH, he's amazing and his journey of healing has been so so so good and i'm so obsessed with everything about him, like with Chikage, it comes in waves, but when it comes i'm hit SO STRONGLY by everything i feel about him
Sakyo: I WAS SO CONFLICTED ABOUT HIM IN THE PROLOGUE! I KNEW THAT HE WAS TECHNICALLY RIGHT BUT I WAS ALREADY ROOTING FOR IZUMI I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL. part of me hated him, part of me was already so intrigued by him and wanted know more... and oh boy did i learn more... and i grew more obsessed every time now, while i do tend to leave the gushing about him more to An, i am so obsessed with that old man, i love him so much and how much he loves everyone in the troupe, i love his arc and all he does and every new piece of information i gain about him i need to take A Moment because of how overwhelmed with emotions i am!
Azami: with Azami i did NOT make the mistake i'd done with Chikage and Kumon! so i learnt about him in a more proper way and i was... completely neutral about him when i first read about him. then i saw his relationship with Sakyo and THAT cg and i lost my mind now Azamin is... i'm obsessed with him and with how much of a teenager he is, i love him and find his character super interesting and entertaining and aaaaaah son boy i love him
Tsumugi: i was conflicted about Tsumugi at the start too! tbh i think i may be a minority here but i was on Tasuku's "side" with their discussion and Tasuku being skeptic about Tsumu going back! but i also found him really sweet and i was starting to like him anyways! then i began rooting for him a lot and looking up to him and... then the valentine's magic SSRs came and i read the cross backstage and i became a sucker for the café buds? but what REALLY made me a fan was esute's Nocturnality and specifically... this piece of fanart (Dita my beloved!), when that piece of fanart came, i had to admit i was unwell about Tsumugi now the unwellness has kinda calmed down but, once again, it comes and goes, i can go a long time "no thoughts head empty" while just thinking about Tsumu and how cool he is and how much i love him and feeling really unwell, but it doesn't happen all the time
Tasuku: like i said, i was on his "side" at the start of fuyu arc and... that mayb be because i alr liked him before the arc! what he did at the end of aki arc made me REALLY like him and i thought he was really cool and i loved how much he loved theatre now... well that hasn't changed much, i still think he's super cool and love his passion but i ALSO think he's super cute and endearing and aaaaaah i love him
Hisoka: he was like a cat and i found that funny and endearing right away, then his arc began happening and i was SO intrigued by... honestly everything about him lol but... he was overshadowed a bit by his cast members because of how vague his arc was so i didn't care that much? now... he's still a cat lmao and i love him, he's so cute and sweet and i LOVE his story and arc so much, i don't have much to say? but i just... i love him, he's so cool, i'm so glad he has a new family now (and just typing that is making me SO emo)
Homare: HE WAS THE STAR OF FUYU ARC FOR ME! he was SO MUCH and ngl poetry is like... my weakest area when it comes to lit? so that was a weird thing for me to be so interested in, but i was obsessed with him the second he came on the screen now... well i'm still obsessed with him! he's the one reason i now am somewhat interested in some poetry and honestly? i love how he's portrayed SO MUCH i love every story he's in and seeing him makes me so happy i just kdfjbvhgkf i love him sm
Azuma: the moment he came in to aid Juza and Banri when dealing with Banri's classmates and then implies that those two have a special kind of friendship? yeah i liked him RIGHT AWAY, he was so amusing and i loved his teasing so much, i loved him. he was also my first SSR so that made me biased lmao, that backstage was the first i ever read and i was SO sold on him! now.. well, i still have a very soft spot towards him for being my first SSR lol and i love him and his story SO MUCH, and while i'm not really an Azuma oshi, i really REALLY enjoy it every time he's around, be in in card art or the story or anything again, i just think he's neat
Guy: like with Azami, i actually learnt about him through reading the wiki and oh boy... the moment he comes in and begins the whole android thing... i could relate to him so hard and i loved him, he quickly became my favourite rookie, to the point that when episode 8 came to A3!EN i changed my whole twitter layout to be Guy themed and left it like that for like a year or smth now i love him SO much! his arc and development really hit home and everything that's been happening with him lately excites me SO MUCH! i love him and i wanna know everything about him and i'm so so so hyped for... well everything w him lol
aaaand that's it! sorry it's so long haha, if you made it all this way... woah thank you so much! i'm just very rambly and really love this game lol
Mankai March question 9!
Happy birthday to the love of my life, Sakuya Sakuma!! Since he was the first actor in the troupe and one of the first characters we meet, let’s talk first impressions! What were your first impressions of the cast? Or just your oshi? Are they different from now, or more or less the same?

With all that picking on Mitsunari for being a disaster adult, the thing it that Ieyasu doesn't resent him for that. His reason isn't pretty, and it doesn't mean he's not being mean. But the reason isn't Mitsunari deviating from the norm as a neurodivergent person. His reason is frustration that Mitsunari doesn't use his potential. And the frustration - and envy - is understandable considering he’s worked hard to achieve what they achieved while someone naturally talented just wastes their gift.
Yes, it might be petty, it might be that envy and frustration, definitely one of the ugliest feelings presented in the game, and it definitely hurts Mitsunari an awful lot, but the main point is that it’s not because Mitsunari is neurodivergent. And in the time of need Ieyasu can see past his own issues.

*404 ERROR DOES NOT COMPUTE BEEP BOOP*
I understand this is written like this for comedy sake, but on a factual level, this is either misleading or confusing presentation of data because of bad wording... or a messed up research. I hope this is not meant to be “Sasuke is spouting nonsense because he’s drunk”.
Clarification first: The Chuugoku region means “regions that are at a medium distance from the capital”. Like, these days when people say Chuugoku, they tend to mean the West. Motonari is from this Western Chuugoku provinces. However, there are also Chuugoku provinces in the East. Unless maybe for some reason during the Sengoku they do not call the East ones “Chuugoku” or something. IIRC the Eastern provinces tend to be called “Kaidou”.
At any rate, even if Sasuke just means “whatever fragment of Chuugoku that is under Motonari”, I still have no idea what he meant by “it’s thanks to Chuugoku that there’s sugar”. The... Europeans brought sugar. And... what does it got to do with Chuugoku? Like, if what he means is the Nagasaki trade centre and the first landing at Tanegashima, then that’s not even part of Chuugoku at all. The first clans that opened their ports to the Europeans were mostly from Kyuushu. This would count as Ongoku region (”Very Far from the capital”), and also under the rule of OTHER lords. Ootomo, Shimadzu, Oomura, etc.
From Nagasaki, with the help of the daimyou, the European traders eventually got access to Sakai. Which is near Kyoto, also not Chuugoku. I am very confused. What is going on here? Is there a detail in the Nanban trade that I’m missing? Did they make a pit stop at the Chuugoku provinces before they managed to get access to Sakai?
I sure hope the writer did NOT get mixed up between “Chuugoku as in land category of Japan” with “Chuugoku that means China”. It said that the very first “sugar” was imported from China in the Nara period. And the Nanban trade does include being a middleman between China and Japan during the time when the Ming dynasty severely limited access to and from Japan. If someone somehow messed up China with Chuugoku-provinces-of-Japan, that’s... just really bad.

Ikesen Ieyasu Analysis #1
Today I’ll try to explain why Ieyasu is the way he is towards Mitsunari.
Major route spoilers ahead.
To start with, let’s collect the data we have on Mitsunari (after playing through just a couple of chapters of his route). He is extremely intelligent, but can’t take care of himself - the only thing he seems to be able to keep organized is his work. He is clumsy and oblivious to social norms, he uses language in a very direct way, all of which make him appear somewhat childish (frankly, I really do believe his entire personality is a subject for another whole analysis post - just the way he is written, that is).
The thing that’s crucial is how he addresses bullying - he just endures it willingly, never standing up for himself. Mitsunari thinks others are entitled to have their opinion about him.
Ieyasu doesn’t hate Mitsunari. He loathes the person he used to be and Mitsunari Ishida is just a walking reminder of that time.
As we know, Ieyasu was held hostage as a child by the Imagawa clan. He was unable to do anything and as such, just endured the abuse. Once he gained enough power, he had his revenge - Ieyasu fought for himself. On the other end of the spectrum, Mitsunari is an adult capable (well, technically he should be capable) of protecting himself, but refraining from doing it.
I do not think that all those snarky comments are aimed at Mitsunari himself, but at what he represents. I believe that whenever Ieyasu sees him, he in fact sees his younger self - the powerless child. As such, he wants to scare Ishida off - because he hates what he used to be.
I also think that Mitsunari’s way of handling the bullying is deeply upsetting to Ieyasu. Why? Well, Yasu dealt with his abusers. He takes action. To witness somebody being hurt and not doing anything to stop it? It makes your insides boil, maybe even relive your experiences. I think that the vast majority of abuse survivors could say that they’d never want another human being to go through the same stuff they had to - and it’s most probably the same for Ieyasu. In other words - I don’t think it’s about Mitsu being weak, but about him not proving his strength. Also, his unfortunate childishness (the way he is somewhat gullible, how he needs a caretaker, etc.) just makes the similarities even more pronounced, hence hurting more. It’s a mixture of the past and the present, in which one can’t still do much, but watch - because this time, he is not the one to solve the issue.

Could you talk about why Masamune and Nobunaga are you favorite Ikesen warlords please? I love ur writing and it’s always a treat to read a character analysis. 😍
Hi dear Anon! Thank you so much for the ask and your kind words! 💖 I was quite excited to see your question in my ask box as I’ve never done a character analysis before, so I hope it meets your expectations! It’s been a while since I’ve played these routes (I wasn’t in the habit of taking screenshots at the time either 😭), so my memory may be fuzzy at times. Apologies if I’ve misremembered anything!
Warning: Spoilers for Masamune and Nobunaga’s routes
Reasons To Love: Masamune & Nobunaga (Ikesen Character Analyses)
Date Masamune:
“You always remember your first”: this guy was the first route I played in Ikesen, so he will always hold a special place in my heart
Power kink:
What initially attracted me to him was his devil-may-care attitude, especially when it came to flouting authority
E.g. right at the outset, he disregards Hideyoshi’s caution to leave “Lord Nobunaga’s woman” alone, basically telling Hideyoshi that he will do as he pleases, which includes romancing whomever he chooses
This blatant disregard for authority distinguishes him from the other warlords of the Oda forces at the outset, and one would think that if anyone were to challenge Nobunaga’s rule from within, it would be Masamune (besides the sneaky kitsune, but that’s too obvious)
And status-wise, Masamune is different from the other warlords: he and Ieyasu are allies, whereas the rest are vassals
Ieyasu, however, is much more subdued than Masamune — seems to look up to Nobunaga as an older brother and hence is unlikely to even dream of challenging him
I also find it incredibly romantic for a man to throw all caution to the wind for the sake of pursuing the woman he loves
Fun times:
Out of all the warlords, MC seems to have the most fun when she’s with Masamune, whether it’s racing through the streets of Azuchi (with a bewildered Hideyoshi watching on) only to be captured by a bolt of fabric, falling off a cliff and making out in a lake, or riding like the wind (on a horse, that is 😏)
Masamune’s route is exciting and action-packed in a way that’s not solely composed of kidnappings and warfare
Not cool man, not cool:
On the other hand, I did NOT appreciate how he didn’t stop to think twice before almost lopping off my head trying to get to Sasuke and Yukimura
I understand this “act first and think later” mentality is central to his personality, and is also a major way in which the game demonstrates how he’s grown as a character (e.g. he later takes a bullet for you, stops you from shooting Kenshin), but the scene still left a bad taste in my mouth
But I suppose every rose (route) has its thorn
Lessons from the One-Eyed Dragon:
Don’t be afraid to live: a life spent cowering in fear is a life wasted. You never know what tomorrow brings, so do your best to enjoy each day to it’s fullest (this particular message really resonated with me)
You and your partner may not always see eye to eye, but you can still compromise and love one another in spite of it (e.g. MC will never be fully comfortable with war, but she recognizes the necessity of it as part of Masamune’s responsibilities to protect his people and their interests)
Sexy times:
On a more superficial note, Masamune is smokin’ hot
His route also has smokin’ hot love scenes: the man makes out with you pretty much right off the bat (while the both of you are dripping wet…from falling into a lake, that is). He also uses his teeth to pull down the collar of your kimono!
Let’s be honest, the only reason I got into writing fanfiction in the first place was because I didn’t want to pay for the premium side story where he presses you up against the wall as he’s making out with you
There’s something excitingly feral about the way Masamune gets down
CONCLUSION:
Masamune is one of my favourites because he’s hot, fun and not afraid of Nobunaga
Oh, and he cooks
Oda Nobunaga:
Power kink:
Arguably the most powerful man in the land at that point in time
Imperious (God, he’s f-ing bossy I LOVE IT)
Sengoku genius who thinks for himself:
Nobunaga is a genius, excelling at everything he does
He’s a younger guy (compared to Shingen and Kenshin), but is the one closest to achieving Divine Rule
Capable of grasping difficult/nonintuitive concepts with ease: there’s evidence of this in both his MS and ES (e.g. he doesn’t even blink when MC tells him she’s from the future, just calmly and rationally assesses her smartphone when presented with it. Also quick to figure out the science behind floating lanterns in an ES)
The man isn’t easily swayed even when those around him are (e.g. when Hideyoshi is freaking out about where Mitsuhide’s true loyalties lie, Nobunaga trusts the latter — and his own judgment on the man — wholeheartedly)
Believe it or not, the man can be humble:
I may be misremembering, but Nobunaga doesn’t seem particularly boastful of his own accomplishments
He also isn’t quick to defend himself when he’s been falsely accused (e.g. in the scene in Nobu’s MS where MC is freaking out about him killing the assassin who touched her leg, all without realizing that he was concealing a knife and intended to harm her)
There’s something quite attractive about a man who’s poised and possesses a quiet confidence
Human after all:
For all his seemingly infallible ways, Nobu has a very human side
While I don’t remember exactly how it played out, Nobu does try to explain to MC the rhyme, reason and guilt behind the carnage the Oda forces inflict
The man is ticklish
He is also a slave to candy (konpeito) and allows Hideyoshi to regulate his intake despite being his boss
Expects great things from his Fireball:
Potentially an unpopular opinion, but I love that he doesn’t coddle his MC
He doesn’t hesitate to bring her onto the battlefield, presumably to act as his “lucky charm”
This may hint at the fact that he grows to consider the female MC an equal of sorts, which is aligned with his generally progressive mindset (bed warming command aside)
Playing with fire:
The man is hot 🔥Seriously super sexy.
Nobunaga is definitely handsome, but it’s the way he carries himself that makes him especially enticing: his confidence, the command in his voice, the shameless things he says, his facial expressions
Yes, he can totally use my mouth in lieu of a sake cup
His version of Go totally redefines Board Game Nights in my opinion
Let’s be real, the man wouldn’t even need to challenge me because I’m already willingly surrendering each of my body parts before I’ve even entered the tenshu
DON’T QUESTION IT, NOBUNAGA. JUST KISS MY FEET
CONCLUSION:
Nobunaga is another one of my favourites because he’s sexy, smart and strong, but also weak to the sweetest things: tickling, candy and his MC
Thanks for reading! Check out more of my work here! 📖

Character Analysis: Mitsuhide
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
It’s pretty long so I threw this whole post under a cut. This is my personal views on Mitsuhide. You are free to disagree with me. I’m still getting to know him and how he really is. I thought I’d share my thoughts on Mitsuhide since his route is coming out soon.
I was rereading an old post in regards to Mitsuhide's personality. Admin Yukari always tells me that she can't stan Mitsuhide because she dislikes his teasing whereas I have already grown used to it. It honestly does not bother me anymore. One thing to keep in mind is that Mitsuhide teases as a form of affection, and in regards to MC, it's how he shows his love for her. He likes her open and honest expressions. If MC stopped reciprocating his teasing, I think Mitsuhide would legitimately begin to worry. Spoiler for his upcoming birthday story, but at this point, MC does not mind his teasing anymore. On the contrary, she looks forward to it. And as Mitsuhide explained to Princess Tsubaki in the latest event, it's normal for him and MC to constantly "bicker" with one another. When MC thinks it's "impossible" to be with Mitsuhide, he always responds with "If you say it's impossible, doesn't it make you want to be more mean?" To put it simply, he wants to tease her some more.
Of course, teasing isn't the only facet to Mitsuhide's character. As he has stated before, he is constantly working in the background. He seems to have his own agenda while serving Nobunaga. Rest assured, it's always to his lord's benefit. What Mitsuhide's goals/ambitions are have yet to be explained, however. From the small glimpses we've had, he views himself as nothing more than a tool of war. He carries out his work efficiently while remaining aware that he can die at any given time. I like to think Mitsuhide embraces death in his own way, but almost like an afterthought. If it happens, it happens. There's no fear or regret. However, MC perceives a sadness in him that she can't quite figure out just yet. Unlike Kenshin, Mitsuhide does not invoke angst but rather a deep, undescribable sadness. I feel like a lot of it has to do with his distancing with those he feels close to.
We've seen it before. Mitsuhide has no qualms in tarnishing his reputation with the general public if it means protecting those he cares about. And the last thing he wants to do is hurt MC in any shape or form. While he lives to tease her, he still is careful not to project his emotions around her getting defensive when MC begings to pry a little too much for his liking. He doesn't like being the center of attention, and would much rather be away from the spotlight prefering to stand in the shadows instead.
Mitsuhide is not just considerate of MC, but of his allies. We've seen him helping from the sidelines more than once. He, too, can get jealous, though. During the Christmas event last year, he wouldn't stop commenting about MC wearing Hideyoshi's haori even when she explained about forgetting her own coat at the castle. Instead, Mitsuhide takes MC to a kimono shop and buys her a beautiful scarf to keep her warm. We see him lamenting the fact that he can't be with her in Hideyoshi's route, but is still happy for the two and wishes them well in their life together.
In Sasuke's route, I was introduced to a new side of Mitsuhide. He's raised suspicion and unease in me in previous routes. Mitsuhide made me feel fear in Sasuke's route. He flung a blade into the ceiling narrowly missing Sasuke who was hiding above, and dragged MC by her arm out of the audience hall threatening to harm her if Sasuke did not appear. He chases Sasuke and MC all over Azuchi without relent dead set in shooting them down. He almost succeded had Sasuke not fooled Mitsuhide with a dummy. Even Mitsuhide laughed at the fact which made him seem all the more chilling to me. However, he won my admiration later in the story when he teamed up with Hideyoshi as they faced off a group of Kennyo's men.
After Mitsunari's route and working my way through Sasuke's route, I began to focus more on Mitsuhide because I desired to get to know him better. To be honest, I am dying to play his route. I try my luck in every event he is in hoping to gleam more of Mitsuhide's personality. That sadness that MC sees in him has me at the edge of my seat wondering what it could all be about. The small snippets we've gotten from his route has me so pumped up ready to delve into his story.
I've been told my portrayal of Mitsuhide is so good, and while it brings me relief, I can't help but think that I can do better. Still, in fanfiction, you're free to do as you want. Want a soft Mitsuhide? Write it. Want a horny Mitsuhide? Write it. Want angsty Mitsuhide? Write it. How we choose to portray Mitsuhide in fanfiction is up to us. And the same goes for the rest of the warlords.
I write Mitsuhide from what has been shown to me in the handful of event stories and routes I had the luck of reading. I may be forgetting some things, but this is just about all I have learned in regards to Mitsuhide so far. We're all entitled to our likes and dislikes, and this is not a plight to get Mitsuhide more fans. Honestly, I don't even know why I started going after Mitsuhide when Nobunaga is supposedly my #1 favorite. Anyways, how you choose to view Mitsuhide is up to you. Whether you like him or not, stan him or don't stan him, love him or hate him, we are all right. Like, I'm still struggling with Kennyo, and he's the last warlord on the list. I don't like Motonari, but I'm still going to embrace him. So, you know, to each their own.

Hi! Love ur blog. 10/10. Chaotic idea: warlords meet their female selves. Only ones I would request would be Shingen & Nobunaga, and anyone else who you think would be fun. 🖤
Hi Anon!
Thank you for the love! Interesting question... could be awesome, could be a recipe for disaster.
Nobunaga: Ok... here's my 2 cent psych analysis of the type of alpha/alpha relationship that would occur if Nobunaga met a woman who was exactly like him. While I do think that it's totally possible for two alphas to have a healthy relationship, they need to be willing to trust one another enough to give up a certain amount of control. When we meet Nobunaga at the start of Ikesen, he is not willing to give up control. MC/Mai is able to gain that trust, but she is also willing to defer to his authority in certain situations. She facilitates his emotional growth, because she has a better understanding of feelings.
A female version of Nobunaga will not defer to him, nor will she be able to access her feelings, and I foresee difficulties in any relationship they attempt. Think... Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara ... Anyway, that said...
He is entranced by this powerful, charismatic, confident woman.
He grabs her arm.
She grabs his butt.
So... completely ... turned on.
Sex is immediate, intense, hot.
They both want to be on top (power rolling ensues).
The next day both are covered in love bites.
She stands up to him, gives as good as she gets.
Marathon games of Go end in stalemates.
They fight over the last piece of konpieto.
Their fights are legendary... and not even because they disagree on the main issues, values (in fact, they don't even disagree on the big things) ... but they both want to win, and neither backs down.
Make up sex is also legendary.
Neither of them will admit to being in love, let alone say, "I love you" first. Feelings? Pffft.
Neither of them is willing to trust the other enough to let go of their need for control.
They admire each other greatly, but unless some outside force intervenes that will allow them to get past the trust issue, any relationship between them will implode.
They'll never get over each other.
But they'll also never admit it.
Shingen: Another alpha male, but the difference between Shingen and Nobunaga is that Shingen has high emotional intelligence and has an ability to compromise (at least in situations not related to Nobunaga). So in his case, an alpha/alpha relationship is exactly what he needs... he and female Shingen will push each other to grow together. If they were a movie couple, they would be Cary Grant and Rosaline Russell in 'His Girl Friday.'
No encouragement needed to be attracted to her, flirting commences instantly.
She flirts back - no shyness here - and the conversation flows easily as they match each other compliment for compliment, and quip for quip.
Joking and flirting is fun, and they egg each other on to come up with the cheesiest pick up line.
They don't instantly consummate the attraction, though. Both understand the value of slow seduction.
They pamper the other, planning out increasingly elaborate dates.
They will jokingly fight over the last piece of pastry, have fun "stealing" it, before dividing it into pieces and feeding each other.
When they make love, it's a sensual explosion as they lavish all their attention on each other - both are fully present for the experience.
With their strategic brains, they spend their days reading reports, plotting, designing tactics... they're pretty much the ultimate power couple.
If there are problems, they occur because both of them put everyone else's needs ahead of their own, have a tendency to work too hard, push themselves too far, and to the point where they end up nagging each other about their health.
But generally, they're pretty much that couple who are always together, discreetly touching each other's hands, or arms, or the small of their backs in public, and everyone else around would get tired and annoying of this behavior if they weren't so darn charming.
Yukimura: If... if they can just get past hello. When Harry Met Sally...
Their first meeting is an misunderstanding that ends in a childish name calling fight. He calls her boar-woman. She calls him donkey-brain.
So is their second...
And their third.
You again? Really, why does fate keep throwing that boar-woman / donkey-brain into each other's paths?
He pokes her in the forehead.
She punches his arm.
Eventually, though, they've become comfortable enough fighting each other that they relax enough to be able to talk. More or less.
And they realize they have a lot in common.
They might even be... friends?
As long as boar-woman and donkey-brain keep their mouths shut, they're kind of sort of attractive.
Not that they are attracted.
Boy germs / girl germs.
"Kiss me. I dare you."
The first time they have sex is... catastrophically bad.
So bad that, really the only response is to laugh about it... which leads to the second sexual encounter. That was enough of an improvement that they keep trying.
But even after all that, arguing is still their major mode of communication. It annoys everyone else around them, but it... works for them.
And, bonus...
Mitsunari:
Oh, look.... books!

Back then, when there was only, ikevamp, ikesen and Ikerev, I was so curious about other ikegames that I search for some translations. Now, that ikepri has joined, some says' that chances of ikegen being translated is blurry because of how it came before ikepri. But I'm still hoping it does. But while it's still not, and given the miracle and big chance I found this blog, can you tell me about the ikegen character and their personalities. Both as lovers and before meeting MC.
Hey Nonny! I don't feel great about our chances with Ikegen, no, sadly...I was holding out hope for AX this year but it never came up and I suspect that might be the nail in the coffin for it coming to English. Which is a bummer, it would have been a great time to maybe capitalize on the Birushana game introducing more people to that era of Japanese history and the figures populating it.
Never say never though! The game is still going strong in JP so maybe if collectively we make enough noise they'll consider it. I'll keep doing my part to try and drum up interest in the game <3
As for character analysis, I started some last summer (ugh where did the time go?!?!) and I DO MEAN TO FINISH THEM - I have a terrible habit of trying to juggle too many things at once.
If you're curious to read them though, the ones I have done so far are:
Minamoto no Yoritomo
Kajiwara Kagetoki
Adachi Morinaga
Taira no Shigehira
Tamamo
Minamoto no Yoshitsune
Musashibou Benkei
Nasu no Yoichi
