Shino turns to Naruto, brows pulled in an air of suspicion. While the words bring a certain warmth to his chest, he can't help but doubt how genuine Naruto is. Shino hasn't been deaf to all the comments Naruto has muttered under his breath in the past, nor is he going to forget the way he got ignored and forgotten so often.

"Are you really...?" The Aburame eventually asks, because it does sound too nice to be true. It's sad, really, how Shino makes a mental note of not waiting for an answer, there's always a high chance that the other will simply move on to another subject like usual.

“The question is simple enough, but I struggle to..." Gai brought his hand to his chin and closed his eyes. It wasn’t often that he found himself searching for how to answer a question. The problem was, there wasn’t just one person; there were a lot of people precious to him. “I can’t just name one person; there are many people I hold dear, and it wouldn’t be fair if I simply named one of them,” he said in a firm nod. 

“It’s actually my mother, but don’t tell that to anyone else,” he laughed, giving Naruto a bright smile and a thumbs up. 

“How about you? WHO’S YOUR PRECIOUS PERSON?! ARE THEY AS YOUTHFUL—it’s not that I’m trying to distract you from my answer; I actually am…”

People were so very troubled today, weren't they?

Then again, he hadn't seen the surface in six years now and a lot had changed. It feels like it had been much longer. And to see the clear night sky once again, the Executive couldn't help but agree. It had always been one of those things to bring him comfort-- because he too was like a star in the vastness of night.

He brings his pipe to his lips to take a puff from it before exhaling into the crisp night air, pale eyes settled on the stars above. People were lonely by nature, and so far, the other blonde hadn't annoyed him too much for Verlaine to remove himself from the situation or make a threat. Even if he's aware that it could change any moment, and it was in Verlaine's nature to already have a hand on a dagger in his pocket.

Sharp pale eyes focus on the man not too far from him, taking the pipe between his teeth to draw his coat that lay draped on his shoulders around himself a bit better. He takes the pipe into his hand before he speaks with a voice so gentle one could never expect it to come from someone like himself, "the stars will never lie to you nor will they lead you astray. They have been the same for thousands of years and they will continue to be long after we're gone." Verlaine takes another puff before exhaling and turning his head to look at him properly.

"But you sound as though you already know this already. Why is it that you're so far from the city? Have you come to clear your head as well?" A genuine question, tone unchanging but perhaps there's something off about the look in his eyes. Only time would tell...

This was supposed to be a simple mission. In and out, capture one of Orochimaru's old enemies and bring him back (probably incapacitated) to the hideout, because this former enemy apparently had some information Orochimaru now wanted, but only in the man's memory. Or... something. Really, Sasuke didn't have all the details. He didn't really care.

He did care that he was being sent on an errand, which was annoying. He also cared that, as he approached the area this enemy was said to be, there was already a battle taking place. And he could sense the very familiar chakra of his old teammate, mingled with the chakra of the Nine Tailed Fox.

Naruto.

Feeling his heart rate pick up despite himself, Sasuke sighed, continuing his way towards the battle. He'd hide just behind the sightline of the trees, hidden, to assess the situation.

"Whaaa??" The shorter male blinked looking up at the other, violet hues lingering as his expression contorted into one of confusion. The challenge was a little silly, even he had to admit to it, but it was all in good fun Yugi supposed. The smaller male let it all sink in before he closed his eyes, huffing in amusement as lips curled into a smile "Alright. Game on, then."

there was a visible surprise on his face, as the urgent search for the missing sunglasses & apologetic muttering stopped.

Koujiro was used to weird looks & comments when it came to his appearance from people. when he's with anyone from Shiki he doesn't pay much mind to it. even had someone scream once he approached them. so nice comment caught him off guard more than any other reaction.

only after initial confusion wore off, a smile appeared with a laugh.
