Darry x Paul headcanons

They're in my head and I'm gonna make everyone aware of this. Mostly fluff, warning for an eating disorder.

Darry's ticklish. Paul knows exactly where, and would tickle him out of nowhere which pisses Darry off. PAUL on the other hand, isn't at all and Darry hates this fact.

When Darry had custody of his brothers, he'd always be up and early first, but once they grew up and Darry had time to finally slow down, Paul would wake up first and make him breakfast and lunch if he had enough time. Darry is bashful about it everytime.

They have two rings each, one lavish bought by Paul, which are rarely worn, and one bought by each other in the early stages of their relationship, holding much more sentimental value and worn almost daily.

I don't think they'd be in lavender relationships. Darry wouldn't want to marry a woman he doesn't love that way, and Paul simply doesn't bother. Maybe they try to go on dates here and there but oh boy they never work out.

Paul likes leaving his clothes or straight up buying new clothes for Darry (cough purple madras shirt) (cough lettermans jacket like in white knight) Darry felt guilty about it at first but once Paul realised he needed more working shirts than fancy dress shirts, he started being much more glad to find new shirts without holes to work in.

Olive theory but with tomatos. "You like ketchup but not tomatoes?" "Darry I'm not explaining myself again."

Darry likes when Paul runs his fingers through his hair, and when he rests his chin on his head too. #darrywouldloveweightedblankets but it's okay he has Paul for that.

Once Soda and Pony caught onto what they are, they were mostly confused as to why it was Paul.

They extensively plan holidays abroad but only manage to carry out their plan of a roadtrip across America. Paul swears he'll bring Darry to Europe one day.

Paul got really worried when he noticed Darry's small eating habits, which he'd developed when he was really low on money back when he was taking care of his brothers. Paul tried his best to help, but eventually Darry did gain more an appetite in his own time. (He didn't want to tell Paul he was being the opposite of helpful)

Absolutely love looking back on football team photos, and laughing about how young they really were when they first got together and fell out.

Oh yeah they fell out at some point. Years later, both better and healthier to be in a relationship, they got together again.

When asleep in the same bed, they're moving constantly to find more comfortable positions, but when they're cuddling, dead still.

Back when they were in school, Darry would write about Paul, and Paul would draw Darry. I'm talking sketchbook filled to the brim of drawings of Darry, some from memory, some quick sketches 'in the moment' and the occasional rare painting of when Darry would model for him. Darry mostly wrote poems, but sometimes he'd just write memories with great detail so he'd never forget. Years later they also look back at these, too embarrassed to show each other (They both know where their sketchbook/notebook and have looked through them.)

Absolutely love parties, no matter how boring they might be - like a cousins baby shower that's just cake. If it's called a party, they're showing up to catch up with old friends and cause general havoc together.

Ponyboy gets them those Christmas decorations with two male cardinals (he's a bit of a bird nerd) and they don't understand whenever he buys them yet another bird decoration. One Christmas he tells them, and they become much more cherished.

Darry's handwriting is HORRIBLE and Paul writes in any cards they send out.

Paul got Darry a dog once he started talking about adopting a kid, jealous of fathers he'd see in town with kids attached to their hips. He thought he'd never want kids after taking care of his brothers, but he sure enough, he grew up and wanted a junior of his own!

im sorry but "kill the villainess" (story by your april and art by haegi, included those because there wre Many similarly named stories lmao) is what ALL those other bitches THINK they are

the repeating pattern of all the men around her becoming obsessed with her not because of their Real relationship, but what they projected onto her- mirroring the common "heroine picks up 5 dudes nobly obsessed with her" trope in a much more realistic, gross way. the one guy who is Genuinely in love with her is a bit Obsessive with it but it still is genuine a result of her Actions, not whatever he made up in his own head

the way all the named characters, important or not, got a short and sweet (or. very Not sweet. the dressmakers story hit me with such powerful melancholy i had to put my phone down) backstory that explains who they are and why they act a certain way. down even to the "super supportive maid" all these stories have, who usually only get paired off with a spare man if theyre lucky, being revealed to being one of the most integral characters to the narrative

the Hints of lore but All of that lore doubling back to serve a purpose beyond a single relevant arc- maybe its just me but a lot of these generic female oriented fantasy novels love to drop a lot of keysmash-named lore dumps that arent rlly thought out that well. but here, for one example, jareds dragon killing story that helped the eris figure out the rules of causality coming back to be his karmic punishment? gold

and related to that, how they really went into the functionality of the fantasy world, how its real and not- milennia of history and legends and stories and people (awful as 90% of them seem to be lol) doomed to die, with medea dedicating her life to finding way to avert that? finding a new "author" within the story, a side character who before anyone else decided to change their own narrative by giving themselves a new name, changing fate before "eris" ever arrived?

helenas arc not being the now kinda overdone twists of "the perfect heroine from the story is actually a huge BITCH" or "the perfect heroine also transmigrated", but instead a woman who acted ignorant to survive learning that they may help you in the moment, but not forever, and finally Properly standing up for herself at the end

and to tie it all together, the premise itself. "eris" not wanting to just Accept her new life, not having a dramatically terrible life that one would want to escape, just a normal ho hum one with normal trauma and baggage anyone might have. addressing the "realities", as it were, of escapist fantasy- some people probably truly do want a whole new life, but 90% of people would end up desperately, achingly missing what they used to have

tldr kill the villianess feels like it stepped back, saw all the overused tropes of the genre good and bad, and decided it wanted to tackle them and tackle them well

like he just essentially got told that it didnt matter how hard he fought to live, to survive, it doesn't matter that he's "lloyd" now; kim suho is destined for an ill-fate. and considering we know him as someone who lives almost entirely for others? it's basically "hey, all this stuff u did for other people to make urself not a burden, became a burden. tough luck!" GOD THATS SO. GHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHH

and he's trying so hard to think of himself as lloyd frontera still but like. whats the point? his association with lloyd frontera became the thing that doomed him

this panel in particular is INSANEE AAGHGHGHHGGG the colors washed out, how limp he looks, the blankness of the background like nothings there. this is where lloyd is right now, hope ripped from him, this reflects that really well. it HURTS.

is dissociated the right word for this? in despair? either way he's emotionally and mentally going THROUGH it, and essentially back to isolation considering how he ignores javier

i also wonder now if lloyd has already made a choice, to let javier live? we dont get to see more of his thoughts beyond this point, so its hard to say whether or not he's already made the decision of which protagonist lives,,, god im so worried for him. a part of me suspects that maybe he already chose javier to live,,, IM SO SCARED,,,,

speaking of javier,,, we see him talking to arcos and marbella!! and AGGGHHH AAAHHH MY HEART i really really think that javier was being completely genuine here. i think he really believes this. javier in general has a tendency to be incredibly genuine in the things he says (examples i cant think of off the top of my head but this episode has a lot of em LOL). he's asserted multiple times that he believes lloyd can save their estate, and its clear he means it every time. the faith javier has in lloyd is so so strong and it makes me so fucking EMOTIONALLL im getting ahead of myself a little bit sorry

but then the stare that arcos gives to javier,,, i think silent was the one who mentioned it but its as if arcos isnt sure if he should believe him, and if u take into account the last time they asked about lloyd's status,,, it's very much possible that he doesnt believe javier, but javier has so much faith in lloyd that he leaves them alone anyway. god,,, gghh,,, mmy heart,,,,

i talked about it above but like. when javier really truly believes something, when he really truly wants something, it's so fucking obvious. this boy does not lie or pretend about how he feels, point blank period. hell we've seen his behavior when he lies/is not telling the truth; his words are stiff and out of character, and his expression is either menacingly tight or stiffly robotic. he has so, so SO much faith and such a deep desire to save lloyd, and it shows in how he's genuinely fucking thankful that the angels agreed to (or well, were coaxed into agreeing) with what he asked for. i think it's a really interesting character trait and it completely tracks that javier was the protagonist of knight of blood and iron. genuine, emotional characters who love and lose, who have hope and can believe and can also experience despair, can make for an extremely compelling story. javier nails it right on the head

i also think that this character trait completely influenced the way javier used the tactics that lloyd uses. like yes, this is something that lloyd could do, but he also would never be able to pull it off because he doesnt have that same protagonist heart and honest-to-god (pun intended) genuineness that javier has. this inherent authenticity that javier seems to just naturally possess is what allowed him to make these statements and demands, because the sincerity he wears on his sleeve makes it all end up feeling reasonable. only javier could have done something like this, and no one else. i think thats REALLY fun!!!

Uh here have my opinions on tdrp ships

Explanations:

OTP: Hayashigeki - Theyre stupid, I love their dynamic. Its such a delight seeing them on screen together. Shigeki being head over heels for Mai and caring so much about her makes me so happy considering his past

Hayatari - I grew to love their dynamic after Watari’s “homoerotic rant” part in the warden episode. I think theyre fun

Hirojima and Hasemura - This would be way too long if I went into why I like these ships

Love:

Wama - I heart Wama as of tonight. Thinking about it, theyre such a cute dynamic. Watazaki - I love them so much but I think its down slightly because I have a major bias AGAINST Okazaki and Watari deserves better than that

Manasaki, Manatari, Tsuhama, Watamba - I actually have no basis for shipping them, I just think theyre cute

Hironagi - Outing myself as a Hironagi lover, chat. I just think they are absolutely hilarious. I really hope we get more scenes of them together, specifically Nakamigawa not being bitchy to Shigeki, because Nakamigawa seems to be trying to be better.

Like:

Hayanam, Ruinami - Theyre cute, idk

Neutral:

Literally all of these are ships that I have zero opinion on. They could be canon, they could be doomed, idgaf. (Also ignore the Watari or Tamba x any dude in here, I was not paying attention, pretend theyre in NOTP)

Similar to the last one, I just lean slightly more to disliking them

Dislike:

Chiba x anyone - I dont outright hate Chiba ships, theyre just weird to me since Chiba shows herself to be more childish and shipping her with more mature characters is odd to me. Keizou ships - I dont hate em, but he does have a gf. If he didnt, Id probably put Hama and Keizou in like because theyre goofy

Okahama - I dont like most Okazaki ships and Hama deserves anything but Okazaki

Hayazaki - Looking back, I wouldve put this in hate or NOTP because Hayashi HATES Okazaki for her abuse towards Wada

Kamiaki - I feel like they could be a fun ship, but ehh… idk.

Hate:

Ruizaki, Yanazaki - I dont like Okazaki ships that much

Shisaki - I liked them in Daily Life chapter 1, but after the trial and finding out about Lilah, I really hate this ship.

•if curlys gonna b sleeping over like hes part of the gang hes gonna get “part if the gang” treatment. the first and only time curly slept on the floor was when pony slept w him cause they were watching a movie on tv and fell asleep, the gang took each end of the blanket, and lifted them up to swing them around. curly was so mad he aint even stay for breakfast, he wasnt gonna stay for it anyways but he wasnt gonna stay ESPECIALLY then🙄🙄

in the scrapbook darrys continued from his parents, soda and darry make an effort to include curly in it, if their partners have been in it, so does ponys, ESPECIALLY his first relationship. so darry and soda do make an effort to include curly in on their small trips, for their parents sake

•speaking of parents, ponys worst moment was when him and curly partially partially made out in his parents/darrys room. only darry knows about it cause the sheets were rumpled up and pony couldnt walk pass that room without giving it a look😭😭. nobodies brought it up and it will stay that way.

•pony being w curly ALSOOO means that the curtis gang has more street cred and their members wont get jumped bc ppl will think twice about messing w a gang that has closer ties to the shepard gang, curly being around doesnt allwaayyyssss have to mean doom and gloom🙏🏽🙏🏽u get semi scary m/unhinged dog privileges

hello too Team Xbalanque enjoyer with very good taste,

there should REALLY be more fans people don't even know who the dragon daughter is from the next area while i've been waiting since 5.2 for Lianca crumbs in the volcano area (I suspected from back then her mother was like Ixlel) ,,, theyre a collection of my favorite tropes, group of wildly different people, get together for a common cause, grow to care for each other, then the 'heart' of the group dies and everything goes to shiiit. bonus for the last one remaining who misses them so much but can't go back to how things were -

anyway! here's some headcanons, I'll do 3 for each member, rule of three :)

Xbalanque:

i like to think that he had a twin brother and they were from a small, not well known tribe but they all died to Abyss invasion except him (inspired by Tequil the Brave even if some of the details wouldn't match). he has not told anyone about this because he thought people might lose their trust in his guidance if they knew he couldnt save his tribe (i like to think the group learned about it one way or another though...), because of this he has a constant need to help others and be the one who saves the day

loved to mess around with others

didn't like when his people would get intimidated by him (especially after he ascended) and he would think of ways to make himself look more approachable

Yupanqui:

at first he genuinely thought he was hot shit because he had a winning streak when fighting people from his tribe or passersby but quickly realized that he was way out of his depth with what they faced

had a pretty short temper and would rush into fights or get annoyed with others from the group easily (for example when Lianca or Xbalanque would tease him, or when Ahpub and he would get into an argument, or when Ixquieh would tell him to not scream in her ear) but never really truly got angry with them and forgot about it 5 minutes later

loved to fight and would always bug others to train with them. I like to think that Xbalanque, Ahpub and Lianca usually accepted ; Uenuku and Maghan would 50/50 accept or refuse if they felt up to it/had free time ; Ixquieh usually couldn't be bothered ; Och-Kan and Hineila also couldn't be bothered at first but later on they would sometimes entertain him

Och-Kan:

would, mechanically, exclude himself from the group, like saying "you" instead of "we", or when they were all sitting together he'd go sit somewhere away. not because he didn't like them or even wanted some peace and quiet for a while, but because he thought he didn't deserve to sit with them. other members, most frequently Xbalanque and/or Yupanqui, but also others, always dragged him back though

didn't have actual friends, family figures or whatever before them (in the tribe he was raised, most people scorned at him or ignored), he had no idea how to interact with people

had a need to be useful and hated staying idle more than anything because it meant he would be useless then

Ixquieh:

didn't talk a lot, but if you got her started on forging she would get excited and talk for hours

was constantly nagging people about taking care of their weapons and insist to check if their weapons (and other gadgets if any) were in good state every day (she was just worried they'd get hurt if their weapons broke mid combat)

despite spending her time crafting and repairing weapons (and other things) she wasn't that good with them in combat but instead won through trickery and deceit. she knew how to use a blowgun (Ahpub taught her) but wasn't that great at it

Ahpub:

had a naturally loud voice and always sounded like he was yelling

spent his free time training physically and could NOT stay still to save his life. even when they sat listening to a plan or something he unconsciously always moved

had the shortest temper known to mankind

Lianca:

doesn't like to conform, doesn't like rules or hierarchy, and is very opinionated about it ; very stubborn.

never one to hold grudges, even if you fought intensely with her, the next day she was back to normal

very friendly and pretty easygoing, was pretty much always in a good mood, even when in a bleak situation, she would try to cheer the others up (but she was pretty clumsy about it (I wonder if she ever learned her mother got executed for taking her in, and if so, I think she would feel very guilty and sad)

liked to paint, he found the process soothing

often seemed zoned out and in his own world but was aware of everything occuring around him

didn't speak a lot but liked to offer unsollicited advice

Uenuku:

was very good at reading people, would notice right away if something was wrong with one of them

i think he had loving parents and healthy friendships in his youth, although their land was war torn constantly. he wanted to protect his village at all costs and placed high expectations on himself, and people from his village also had high expectations of him (they didn't mean to pressure him but just thought he was their great hero)

at first he isn't very chatty but when he got to know the group more and become more comfortable with them he would talk their ear off about everything

Hineila:

her name was Ianeira, but i like to think that Uenuku is the one who said her name would be "Hineila" in his tongue, she liked so she said he (and the other Natlanians) could call her that

at first she didn't care about anything in Natlan but you could see her gradually starting to care and love everyone (especially Uenuku, yes, but she also cared about the others, but didn't want to admit it to herself)

she could create animals out of water (like all Oceanids seem to be able to do) and would often do it to amuse the others (i'd also like to think she had a humanoid form and preferred to use it to blend in better, but I'm not sure how that'd line up with the timeline of Egeria granting them that ability...)

Yupanqui was constantly clinging to Och-Kan like a limpet and bugging him, and I like to think Och-Kan at first ignored him or was a little annoyed but then became fond of him

Lianca loved to talk with people and hear their life stories and I think she was really fascinated with Hineila who's a different species from a different land and pestered her constantly (with the best of intentions - she was really curious!), and Hineila had to be very careful to not spill the beans about her spy mission. at first Hineila thought Lianca was being intrusive and annoying but later on she didn't mind as much and even invited her to Fontaine if they got the occasion

Ixquieh thought up most of the strategies she and Ahpub used against their enemies, and since Och-Kan was their strategist, I wonder if they talked strategies together and in a modern au would they play the shit out of strategy games together

Uenuku, and Xbalanque, had immense respect for each other as leaders, and for Lianca. Lianca respected them too but she had a few more small reservations like how they'd use too much hierarchy for her taste or their titles (but to be fair they barely cared about their titles you could call them by name or nickname and they actually preferred it)

circling back to my HC about Xbalanque having had a twin brother who died before he started his journey... I think he would sometimes get nostalgic when watching Ahpub and Ixquieh interact (especially since his brother might've been similar to Ahpub, possibly same irl inspiration, and Ixquieh turned out to be very similar to him even if that was later on...)

Maghan and Uenuku liked to watch the stars together. For Maghan it reminded him of his master, for Uenuku he just liked to stargaze. Also, since Maghan's village was shrouded in fog, I wonder if you could see the stars from it or not. if not, Uenuku would tell him all about the stars

-the candy club is absolutely a lure for kids. cult needs kids, kids like candy. theres a few things in the town that lure kids in. vans and stores that give out candy, clowns, etc. based on the fact that the candy dealer is associated with the cartel (who trade actual sugar i guess) kevin was probably just hired to be an easy pawn and a scapegoat. thats what pelo meant when he drew kevin being puppeteered by cd (gonna ignore the fact that cd has a poster that says his candy is better than the candy clubs. thats for later) but i dont think hed hire just Anyone since cd also works for the cult, and this leads to my next observation

-kevins mom is seen with a diamond on her shirt, and her hair sticking out to the sides in points just like skiddads hairstyle. kevin clearly doesnt know about any cult, at least not yet. do his parents know? are they forced into it? do they understand who theyre associated with? plus we all know a photo with a heart drawn under it is a bad sign for the fates of the people in the pic. coughs Hope and her mother coughs

-lila is So broken and i feel so bad for her. no nice clothes, unbrushed hair, worlds most miserable expression. you just know skid had to force her out of bed to make breakfast for them. i have a lot of thoughts about lilas grief, its really telling that years later shes struggling so hard to raise skid, whos Exactly like his father. skid himself probably struggled to cope, i think hes the one who scribbled out skiddads face in the photos. lila trims skids hair a lot, he knows she doesnt like any reminders of him but he believes the mask is enough and doesnt think of any reason why she trims it other than she just says its getting too long for the mask. also jaune is doing kind of a shit job caring for lila? dont take her out to drink wtf. i swear shes part of the cult

OKAY to start, this is ALL cyberpunk2077!au that ignores the story for the most part. nomad is the only one who is intrinsically tied to the relic plot. the other two have some vague connect to the lifepath background to a point, but otherwise dont end up in the same hole. THEY ARE all around 23/24 at their current state(s). (also: apologies if anyone thought i meant they were actually related - each of them are just a different cyberpunk!au of enya) theres sarah too of course! but im still working on his different designs and he is Not the main character, sorry bud. you will get a snack of him because he is always important to her story <3 GOD. OKAY. ANYWAY. if you know nothing about the game im sorry (my knowledge is only from 2077 and internet research anyway) but here we go!!

streetkid; solo. sante muerte theme. also Purple and/or gold. MAXIMUM chrome. shotguns, sandevistan, mantis blades.

-the most similar to default enya. ANGRY. loud, brash, quick to violence. aggressively hetero. comes off more composed in the downtime between jobs from her excessive confidence. smokes, drinks, drugs, alls fun and fair. lazy grins. head tilts. hands in pockets. baggy pants, tie-front bras, tennis shoes.

-known as rabbit/coneja rather than v, due to a few tattoos, her tendency for jumping fences, jumping onto people, and rabbit-kicking her way out of a tough spot (the chrome she's got makes bone breaking very easy and fun). heywood born and bred. russian/spanish. speaks both fluently but leans heavier on the russian to throw people off (this backfires frequently outside of her immediate neighborhood, where people will often assume she's a scavenger).

-physical embodiment of "why do i hear boss music?". alternates between horror movie villain casually walking after people, or DOOM slayer run-n-gun. thorough, albeit not precise in her work. incapable of subtly or silent tactics. shooting people is way easier than talking to them; will give valentinos the smallest bit of leeway, but so little no one except her can tell. VERY hard to kill. mantis blades are almost exclusively used in tight spots, and even then, if a grenade will do the trick, thats more fun anyways.

-high-functioning cyberpsycho (with a legit diagnosis just in case she does snap, they can make her a nice statistic), virtually no empathy/humanity. very disconnected with her self of self. about 75-80% chrome - including both necessary and for improved functions - with a preference toward (funny enough) subtle or hidden cyberware. WAY heavier than she looks with basal caloric needs being stupid high so she is constantly eating. mostly things she finds (steals) (digs out of the pockets of someone she just killed) etc. her lack of social awareness is most obvious when it comes to food because if it is there, she will take it.

-brief history: mom dies when she's 9 during a bird flu pandemic. dad gets killed when she gets grabbed by some maelstromers for cyberware experiments with a couple other kids at 12. ends up as a violent little street urchin between mandated therapy sessions. starts working simple jobs around 15, largely thefts and such, getting her first hit when she's 17 (though she's already killed her fair share of people). almost all the money she makes is put into upgrading and adding onto her cyberware.

-the sarah connection: her, 17/18. him 19. first contact is she and her "buddies" bullying him into taking his shirt off (to prove he isn't a tyger claw) (because theyre awful). he's new to the city, working as a cook for a local dumpling place that she frequent(ly breaks into to steal food). most similar to default enya/sarah beginnings where she simply will Not leave him alone, though he's more anxious in this realm (for good reason) so she wins out faster.

-he lives in the apartment above the restaurant (owner doesnt because its been broken into numerous times) (guess who) and works a lot, so they often spend their time sitting on the roof and talking. sort of mellows her out, having a comfortable space to explore feelings and whatnot helps process Things, including these weird emotions she gets when she looks at him.

-he dies when shes 21. just gets mugged by a couple guys. closest she comes to a full psychotic break, and likely would of if she hadnt found the culprits in quick succession. theyre left an unrecognizable mess and she's given a friendly warning that the ncpd has her as their prime suspect and she should probably stay out of sight for a while. then streetkid path: goes to atlanta, comes back 2 years later, etc. would probably run into jackie but doesnt work well with others, so, hey, she'll take a free lunch but thats about it.

-dies before her thirties. no blaze of glory etc. just gets gutted in a back alley after finally picking the wrong fight and bleeds out behind a dumpster. she is, surprisingly, fine with this - she's had a pervasive sense of suicidal ideation for a LONG while, but was never going to do it herself, and everyone else sucks at it.

-shoving this info somewhere:

=low INT. has a vague grasp on how to navigate some systems and read a little bit of code, but could much more easily disassemble a deck. that and no people skills. says what needs to be said. impulsive and unpredictable but not unstable. =not a believer in sante muerte, but very much enjoys the concept and messing with valentinos where possible. also was never a part of the tinos, but has a fair number of connections within the gang. =the sort who will roll over to sleep for a couple hours, then get right back to business when she wakes up. not good with quiet or stillness, cannot be alone with her thoughts for an extended period. always has to be doing something.

-im definitely forgetting SOMETHING but this motherfucker is my favorite

-enya-adjacent. the most well-adjust and happiest of the three (ignoring the depression). quiet! straightforward when she does talk, and doesnt talk very much. no silence is awkward (for her). actually finds some humor in how differently people react. comfy bi with a preference for women. smokes, but doesnt drink (anymore), and drugs only when necessary. blank stares. careful deliberation. sleeveless vests, leather chaps, cowboy boots.

-prefers val as she gets older, before just going by v when she starts doing merc work. follows the nomad lifepath pretty directly. born in the NUSA, traveling with the bakkers, etc. has that curiosity toward explosives as a child, up until she fucks around and finds out real quick. loses both arms and left eye, burns mostly on her face and upper chest/shoulder. that was the last time she messed with choo2 and gasoline. instead, shifts her energy toward tinkering with machines and cyberware. the latter she finds more enjoyable, but doesnt have many opportunities to experiment with except for her basic (hand-me-down) implants until she saves up herself for an upgrade.

-almost exclusively uses long-range rifles. highly skilled sharpshooter helped along immensely by her one cyber-eye. many problems can be solved this way, for any that cant, her gorilla arms are deceptively customized to deliver a lot more power than expected. not a boxer but enjoys fighting. doesnt get a lot of sleep, spends her nights doing body weight exercises, fiddling with her arms, reading, trying to meditate. professional to a T. whatever the scope is, she will follow it to the letter. not so much "has to be done right" more "thats what i was told to do"; however, she is prone to leniency. minimal deaths depending on the job and involved gangs. being newer to night city has her grouping gangs, corpos, cops, etc in the same bubble. except for shivs, they all get the bullet.

-"brief" history: mom shot by raffen shiv at 9. while tagging along her first patrol at 12, her dad is killed and she's captured alongside a few others when theyre ambushed by raffen (including another girl, sam). rescued after a week or so of rape and torture. her and sam end up becoming inseparable, bonding over their shared trauma. ends up being useful because she goes mute for a number of years with sam being the only person she talks to. becomes an angry violent teen, getting into a whole host of trouble over the years. between those moments, she helps with mechanic work, insisting she gets a fair trade of pay for her work, saving up for improved cyberware, specifically gorilla arms. violence and trouble get worse for a period after this before she gradually begins to soften (very much helped by her interactions with sarah). spends a lot of time alone, improving and modifying her arms and guns, endless target practice, generally honing her skills and abilities into something useful. works random repair and general modification until she starts legitimate merc work at 18.

-sarah connection: these two are THE sarah/enya pair. he is a traveling monk under a teacher who believes in reaching out to the forgotten of society. but not a bhikkhu (the in-game ones, who are ordained) but a ngakpa (under tibetan buddism). different colored robes and vows. theyll travel, spending a few days in an area before moving on. happy to explain their beliefs (which happens frequently enough), but their only real goal is to converse and learn about others. has a vague rotation so they come around every year or so.

-first runs into him at 16 (him 18, still going through training). distant curiosity a contrast to the rest of the teens. doesnt start bothering him until the next year, finding him when he goes to find a quiet spot to meditate to ask her own batch of questions. seeing as this is sarah dialed up to 11, he has a whole lot of suggestions for her, mostly meditative option. blows him off at face, but ends up following some ideas and finds they actually help.

-sarah is, well, sarah, so she finds him an incredibly comfortable and safe presence. helps her relax and open up more. especially so after they start secretly dating (he isnt that kind of monk, after all). plus, his frequent absences actually brings its own sense of contentment. they get married a couple years later when she's 21.

-since this enya/v follows the game, she does end up in night city, relic, johnny, etc. sarah manages to find her, as he does every year, and what with her whole dying thing, decides he's gonna put off his traveling until she figures it out or, well, dies. he's her rock!! okay!!

-for my own headcanon etc: endgame choice is to have the aldecaldos help out (because of course she'd join them), albeit with a whole host of hesitancy and regret after. the connection in arizona helps out because this bitch deserves a happy ending, dammit. relic and whatnot leaves her with a traumatic brain injury, and after all the shit in night city, both cant and wont do merc work anymore. rather, goes heavy into general mechanic/implant modifications which keeps her busy, well-paid, and content. sarah fully shifts into a householder lifestyle instead of traveling and they live happily ever after fuck u.

-some extra info:

=also low INT, cannot hack to save her life, but her people skills are more refined. more prone to not talking than blurting things out which usually works out for the better. =not a believer in buddism but supportive of her big hubby, and finds some of the practices useful for her own mental health. =has memory dampeners in place a few months after her abduction. part of the reason she doesnt touch alcohol is if she drinks too much, it fucks em up and she gets night terrors. relic eating away at her brain introduces the possibility of the dampeners failing at some random point, so she has those removed. misery and suffering for a brief period but gives her a way to deal with her trauma more directly. =her and sam consider each other what they call friend soulmates. they love and adore each other - which theyre fully aware came about because of the suffering they experienced together - but they wont ever be more than friends (albeit, very, very close ones). sam leaves the bakkers a couple years prior to them disbanding officially, but they both stay in contact.

-aidan vincent (last name). goes by v/vin/vinny or vincent in general, aidan only with people he's close to. russian/japanese with split citizenship between night city/US and japan.

-NO idea what his "trauma at 12" enya hallmark is, but it does involve someone clawing out his eyes (hence, the scars and implants). was leaning toward one parent being in maxtac, maybe something with a cyberpsycho attack?? dunno yet.

-sarah connection: fem!sarah is seth! specifically sesu in this au as she's based in japan. making my own cyberpunk headcanon where arasoka also is very supportive of traditional entertainment and sports, including sumo. including female sumo because HELL yeh. proves herself and works her way to a higher level. him being involved with arasoka and travel etc. runs into her at a sort of after party. BIG old heart eyes immediately, this boy is a sucker for giant women. takes some work on his end but manages to convince her hes genuine and they have a strong but brief relationship.

-she's the one who ends it - in part, because she knows theyre both trying to focus on their careers, and his work in particular keeps him away more than either of them want. probably also the whole kill-or-be-killed attitude. not her thing.

-he's TOTALLY not bitter and disappointed and mad about this (< lying to himself constantly). overcompensates in his treatment toward others, flirting, and hookups.

-the random bits im making up as i type:

=NO clue on his future. dies sometime in thirties probably, something like he has a hit put out on him by a younger corpo and has gotten to the point of hardly caring so he gets caught off guard. unhappy but resigned. =high INT but people dumb. when he's got less of a stick up his ass, it's fairly obvious he's a himbo. extremely so when he likes the other person. =when he's not diving through the net and experimenting with backdoors and various ICEbreakers, he enjoys knife throwing. will happily play circus act when he gets drunk enough, but otherwise, the knives dont come out unless he aims to hurt someone. has a surprising number on him at all times from having an excessive amount of hidden sheaths stitched into his clothes.

-bonus fun fact about aidan: would unironically call himself a short king (he's 6 feet tall).

karma for my shinalice craigslist au i see. i could probably survive. my technique of staying in my bedroom with the only exception being my crepuscular eating schedule is pretty widely applicable, i think. because im so avoidant it wouldnt be very interesting. "im rather fond of moisture" vs "not a big fan of moisture" if you will ( <- reference)

12. What's a headcanon you have for [Alice]?

i have multiple but i think ive posted about them all before- namely, him being a history nerd and being bi/pan but completely oblivious about it. mentioned this but more vaguely- i think he'd like video games and be really into dnd, was probably a theater kid at some point. hes kind of a geek in general. probably read a lot of stuff as a kid but not so much anymore unless its nonfiction.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

oh boy.

i mean, theres the obvious one- the way him and reko interact is very interesting to me and i really like their strained, doomed dynamic like any well adjusted person (<- lying). platonic longing with hints of codependency? dont mind if i do. besides that, i obviously think his way of interacting with shin is both funny and interesting, despite how little of it we get.

25. What was your first impression of [Alice]? How about now?

i didnt really have a strong first impression of him surprisingly- if one at all. something ive come to realize from these kinds of ask games is that i dont really have strong first impressions of characters or people in general. i think the closest thing i had to a first impression with him was "man, this minigame is kinda finicky and annoying" (the interrogation minigame). but that wasnt really about him. its kinda funny looking back on it- in spite of his strong personality, he was still just kinda there to me. i dont think i started having any coherent thoughts on him until id already gotten through most of the info on their backstory. now... i think hes amusing. he has really strong reactions to things, which makes him an entertaining character to play around with. i really like the dichotomy between his overconfidence and how easily frightened he can get by things.

3. Least favorite canon thing about [Reko]?

oo, this is a good question. so good i went on a huge rant i ended up storing in the library that is my drafts which must be checked out upon request. heres the summarized version: i dont like how she was written in chapter 3-1. i think nankidai really dropped the ball with both the yabusames, and it disappoints me to see how their arcs got rushed / completely side stepped in favor of other plot points. alice honestly got the shorter end of the stick since he shouldve been way more involved, but i obviously noticed it with reko first. i barely even consider the way theyre written in chapter 3-1 as canon because they so obviously got ignored by nankidai in favor of making sure their dialogue was similar enough and that whether or not you have reko or alice doesnt effect the plot in a major way (even though it really should).

25. What was your first impression of [Reko]? How about now?

similar as with alice- i didnt have strong initial thoughts on her, despite her appearance and how she spoke. i think maybe one of the first thoughts i had about her was when sara has to admit she lied in the bar hallway- i recall thinking that the way reko addressed her feelings ("Sara, look me in the eye. …Don't sit there an' brood over crap / Talk to me. Or are you just not listenin' to what I say? / Cut it out! Don't say that shit!") seemed like it would have the opposite effect, at least on me. though obviously that wasnt enough for me to not end up liking her, because by the start of the second chapter the obsession had begun. now... now.... we dont talk about now

26. What's something [Reko] has done you can't get over? Be it something funny, bad, good, serious, whatever?

hm. i mean. cop out answer but i feel like this entire blog is a culmination of me not being able to get over anything shes done. its pretty difficult to pick one specific thing. however. im not a coward. so ill pick one. maybe two. even if thats not entirely true

ill say its her interactions with kai in ytts, and the scene where sara sees how hard rekos been pushing herself to take care of everyone. i really like kai and..... definitely probably not reko, so i really enjoyed getting to see them together especially when they ended up having such a funny and unique interaction. the second one is pretty self-explanatory- its a very explicit demonstration of the apex of rekos character, and one of her main and most admirable character traits.

before i start, dont feel like explaining it fully but pony drugged out reminds me of jesse pinkman, burnt out and trying to ignore his issues but it rlly only makes him come face to face w it, ok???ok!!!!

darry & soda- they just feel like they failed pony, they feel like maybe pony was giving them signs but they didnt catch on, they just feel disappointed in themselves, like they were to blame to some degree and now ponys hurting bc of that

curly(ig🙄)- now im pretty sure its a common hc that the shepards mom has problems w substance abuse, and so to see it reflected in pony, curlys concern would come off as anger but thats only bc hes desperate, but bc pony would listen or stop, curly just distanced himself from pony bc it brought up his own personal problems yada yada yada, but he would still TRY to look out for pony from a distance

steve and dally- oh theyre pissed lmao, theyre mad that pony got in that situation and hes “throwing away” everything everyones done for him, its like hes just giving it up and not putting up a fight, just like curly they know ppl in their lives who suffers from substance abuse so it hurts close to home and it hurts to see the “golden child” of the gang fall to it cause hes supposed to be their hope, but they feel like if this can happen to pony, maybe they r just doomed

two bit and johnny- honestly, generally they feel the same way as darry and soda, so not MUCH to say w them here, however they does have that added feeling of denial, like a “it cant be pony, maybe theres something else happening”, and then w two bit w his OWN substance issues, he feels stupid for not seeing some signs sooner than everyone else, they both feel like ponys losing himself and theyre desperate to see pony be his old self and theyre stuck just trying to get pony into things he “used to like” to see even a bit of that old pony pop up

as for what theyd do??? theyd absolutely hide all the meds from this guy and keep someone in the house at all times, have someone always watching pony, and pony would def feel suffocated and exposed, like hes being put on blast, but theyre trying to do what they know or think is right
