Okay fast rant about those "ancient alien" or "mystical history" type shows one of my biggest issues besides the racism of "haha only white people could have done THAT" is the just absolute shit takes
for example "every culture had dragon myths1!! these guys even drew DINOSAURS ON ROCKS"
like bitch, dinosaur bones didn't just appear in the 1800s, and people know what skeletons look like! PEOPLE KNOW WHAT REPTILES LOOK LIKE AND BIRDS AND MAMMALS
People alive thousands of years ago still knew what skeletons look like, ESPECIALLY the non white people
And then you see the rock with the dinosaur drawn on and it's very "dinosaur lies" type of art where clearly it was either a fake made after jurassic park, or it's based entirely on the skeleton, because that's just skin over bone with no muscle or fat. Not based on a real fucking dinosaur. And that's not even mentioning how rocks are the easiest historical artifact to falsely age, you literally just gotta cook it in a fire with some clay, scrape the clay off, then bury in dirt for a few months to get it nice and dirty, and shockingly, people still use "primitive tools" for their fakes as well. Or put it in a rock tumbler for a few hours to give it some wear and tear.
The example in particular i saw on TV a few weeks ago was very obviously a fake and this dumb ass white man was paying locals hundreds of dollars for these rocks. Like he got one from some guy who pegged him as a chump and suddenly every local for miles had these rocks to sell to him? And all the dinosaurs were directly jurassic park ones And he had the nerve to say "This is proof dinosaurs were alive at the time of the Incans!" like no, you are an idiot who got all your dinosaur knowledge from Jurassic Park. If the Incans did have dinosaurs at the same time as them, they would have included things like the feathers, or the muscle mass!
#rant#it was that william shatner show and to give him credit he laughed at the guy#and the show shows how easy it is to fake#but we need to stop platforming these people#the other episode of the show was some man convinced that the toy bird of a pharoh was proof the Egyptians had airplanes#because he'd never seen a bird before apparently#but yeah full dinosaur lies#Yes I only use this side blog to post random rants so you can ignore me#i should rant about the a. aliens racism sometime#or about the j. frakes show with ghosts#at least that one is just vagueposting#and you can look up the true facts and read what really happened#it's actually wild that several of the real stories are so much weirder than what they tell

under the summer stars masterlist
The most anticipated weekend of the month finally came. The children would go back to their homes to retrieve new clothes and other necessities and/or decide to go back home if the camp life wasn’t for them. The entirety of the camp was empty and luckily for you all, the Fourth of July fell on that Sunday before the kids came back.
The second the last child hopped into their parents, Robin jumped onto Steve’s broad back in celebration. The duo were whooping and hollering with excitement which caused everyone to join in celebration. The sudden excessive noise caused the birds within the tall trees to scatter and flutter, weaving in between the branches of the leaves.
“We’re free for a weekend. We’re getting fucked up!” Dina shouted, jumping on your back with a loud laugh.
A loud clearing of a throat made all of you turn around to see Joel with crossed arms at the rowdy mess you all had become.
You added with a charming smile: “Responsibly, Joel.”
The grumpy man merely hummed as he stared at the loud group of young adults, causing everyone to say mutters of promises that they were going to be safe.
“Well we’re barbecuing tomorrow night for the fourth of July so I would like everyone to be somewhat sober before then.” He lightly scolded.
Ellie beside you let out a chuckle, looking at you with an excited smile.
“He didn’t say completely so that’s all I’m focusing on,” Steve spoke up, raising his palms up in defense.
“Oh, can we take my van to go and get Fourth of July stuff?” Dina folded her arms as she motioned her chin to her cute minivan.
Reluctant to give permission to the rambunctious group, Joel let out a sigh before scratching at his brow bone with a finger.
“Okay, but be back before sundown. No horsin’ around,” Joel scolds just like the dad he was to everyone for the summer.
“We promise,” you speak for the lot before hoisting Dina up on your back, holding underneath her lower thigh so she wouldn’t slip.
“Wait, I don’t wanna drive. Steve,” Dina calls over your head to the beautiful haired boy. “Can you drive, please?”
Steve let out a groan of complaint, letting Robin drop to her feet from his back to the mix of dirt and twigs.
“Why is it always me?” He questions as his hands rests on his hips, leg popping slightly.
Jesse speaks up for everyone, throwing an arm over his shoulders and placing a kiss to his scalp: “Because you’re a sweetheart, Stevie.”
Everyone cooed him as an obvious blush spread onto his cheeks. He pushed Jesse’s head away from him as he asked Dina for her keys, ignoring the pestering coming from his friends.
“Inside the office. We’ll meet you there.” Dina beamed as she leaned into your ear, tugging your shoulder carefully. “You’re sitting next to Abby and talking to her. End it so you can shove your tongue down Ellie’s throat.”
You look around to see Robin and Ellie talking as Jesse and Abby begin to walk towards the car. You let out a knowing sigh. As much as it would pain you to admit, Dina was right.
“Alright, get off me then.” You dramatically let out a groan.
The charcoal haired girl slid off of your back, adjusting her shirt and shorts before she pointed at you accusingly. You did the same, holding back your eye roll at her words.
“Do it. I mean it.”
You muttered a ‘yeah, yeah’ as you waited with Dina for Steve to come back with the keys and everyone’s cell phones. Within minutes, everyone tumbled into Dina’s adorable van, you doing as the bossy woman had asked and sat next to the muscular blonde. Steve got in the drivers, making it known he didn’t want to hear backseat driving since he was appointed as the driver for the day. You could feel Ellie’s confused stare on you as you’re shoulder to shoulder with the blonde but ignored it as you leaned into Abby to lower your voice so only she would hear you.
“Hey,” you grin kindly at her.
“Hi,” she responded, eyes concentrated on your own.
“I wanted to,” you suck in a deep breath, fiddling with the bracelet Ellie gave you on your wrist. “To apologize.”
Abby brows furrowed at your words.
“Why?” She sounded genuinely confused.
“I feel like I’ve been weird towards you and to be honest, I was trying to force a crush on you because I thought it would be easier than…” You trail off and turn around to see if anyone was paying attention but Jesse was in a conversation with Dina and Ellie which he was clearly invested in. Of course, Steve and Robin were chittering amongst themselves in the driver’s and passenger's seat. “Accepting and acting on my actual crush on Ellie.”
Abby’s eyes flickered from you to the auburn haired one, seeming to take in that information.
“I-I know it was shitty to do. I’m not trying to excuse it but I’m just apologizing and I hope we just be friends again.” You added on in a panic at her silence, trying to keep your voice at a low volume.
“We were always friends,” Abby states with a teasing smile.
You relax into the polyester seat, shaking your head.
“You know what I mean. I just— I’m sorry, Abs.” You turn to her with a winced expression.
“I accept your apology. Even though you didn’t need to apologize, I know you wouldn’t have been able to relax around me unless you did.” Abby chuckled as she nudged your shoulder with her own.
“Whatever,” you sigh as you realize she’s right, a smile creeping onto your own face.
“Can you do me a favor, though?” Abby raised her brows at you.
“Sure, yeah.”
Abby sucks in a deep breath, glancing at the one person she knew would make you happy if it couldn’t be her.
“Just please save everyone from you two dancing around the fact that you’re in love with one another and tell her.”
Your cheeks heat up at her request, delivering a soft punch to her shoulder. Abby laughs softly, settling into her seat as she goes on her phone to show her new high score on Piano Tiles.
“I will, Abs.”
Tomorrow night couldn’t have come fast enough. The whole group of young adults were surrounding the campfire, chattering amongst themselves. Tommy and Joel were grilling hot-dogs and fajitas for the night as everyone was patiently waiting for the explosions of celebrations.
“Steve, you’re telling me you’ve never even once thought about getting with a guy?” Dina asked him in disbelief, staring at him through her American Flag plastic glasses.
“Why is this so hard to believe?” He questioned as he took a sip of his beer.
It was hard to take him seriously as he was sporting a pair of American Flag swim shorts that the group had purchased for all of the guys the day before.
“I told you, babe. You give major bisexual vibes.” Robin motioned to Steve with a sigh, sipping her Sprite and vodka mix.
Most of the group hummed in agreement, Steve raising his brows as he was unsure whether or not to take it as a compliment.
“Well, anyways, who knows? I might experiment one day,” he shrugged his shoulders as everyone whistled at his confession.
“Hey, do you want another one?” Ellie whispered to you, pointing to your solo cup mixture of Vodka and Sprite with the rim of her own.
You lift your head up from her shoulder to stare at her. Her head wore a douche-y American flag baseball cap, similar to Jesse’s top-hat. You weirdly enough loved it on her but you blamed it on the lens you saw her through.
“Uh, yeah. Just one more, though.” You tell her with a small smile. “I don’t wanna throw up tomorrow.”
And be sober enough to tell you how I feel, your mind echoes.
“Gotcha. I’ll be right back,” she takes the cup from you, stepping over Robin’s legs.
As you shamelessly watched her go over to the table full of drink necessities, you caught Steve’s knowing smile that he was trying to hide behind the dark beer bottle. You ignore him and turn to Robin who was on the other side of you, snatching her phone from her hand to change the music.
“Hey!” Robin gasped as she reached forward.
“Just changing the song from this hill-billy shit,” you scoff before calling over to Tommy and Joel. “No offense guys.”
The two furrow their brows as they weren’t paying attention. You wave them off and out on some more calm 90’s R&B, waiting patiently for Ellie to come back with your drink.
“Should we go to the lake and watch the fireworks from there?” Jesse suggested, raising his bottle to everyone.
“I mean, I have to make use of these swim shorts,” Steve shrugged as he chugged the last of his beer, setting the bottle aside.
You and Robin whooped playfully as Steve took off his shirt. Ellie passed by with your solo cup, making a face at Steve’s hairy chest. You chuckle as you stand up with everyone else, graciously taking the cup from her as you motioned to the lake.
“Come on. We’re going to wait for the fireworks in the lake.” You raise your brows as you reach for her hand.
Her hand intertwined with yours, the blush on her pale cheeks going unnoticed by you as your back was already facing her. You tugged her along behind you as the two of you followed the rest of the group. You watched as Jesse shoved Steve into the lake first, a loud yelp coming from the man. You and Ellie chuckled from a distance at the screaming and loud splashes of everyone trickling in one by one.
“If you push me in Ellie, I would actually pull out your hair,” you turn to her, slight teasing in your voice.
“Promise?” She cheekily grins, avoiding your eyeline.
You roll your eyes as you set your drink down on the wooden part of the dock, releasing Ellie’s hand. The sun was nearly half an hour from setting, a soft pink fade to orange decorating the sky beautifully. You turn to Ellie with a small smile as she’s setting down her own drink next to yours.
“Come on, guys!” Abby calls you two from the water, eyes
You open your mouth to make a snarky comment but you feel hands being placed on your back. Before you could react, you were pushed into the deep water. You lift your body out of the water with a loud gasp, whipping your head around and cupping your palms to splash towards Ellie who was laughing amongst the rest of your peers.
“Get your ass in here, Ellie!” You shout at her, shaking your head.
She did as she was told, jumping in right next to you drowning in water from the splash. As soon as she popped up from underneath the surface, you were quick to shove her head down into the water once again. You reluctantly let her up when her longer arms flail above the water, nearly smacking you in the face.
She shot up with a loud gasp, running her palm over her drenched face.
“You could’ve killed me!” She joked, shoving your shoulders.
“I could say the same for you. I told you not to push me in,” you retort as you kick your feet to keep your head above the surface.
“Well, I think hair pulling was the promise, right?” Ellie raised her now darker brows.
With anyone else you would’ve told them to get that kinky shit out of here but this was Ellie; someone’s hair that you would eagerly pull under the right circumstances. The relaxing sound of the water moving around you all, waiting for the beautiful lights to explode throughout the sky for Independence Day. The pink and orange horizon was now a darker and familiar blue, growing closer and closer to midnight.
Before you all knew it, the first whistle of the first firework in your area went off. You stared at the stream of light making its way up into the sky then bursting into bright blue and red. You always loved fireworks growing up; despite how sensitive your little ears were at the time. Now you can just relax and enjoy the view.
Ellie wanted to take in the beautiful sparks but you were the only thing she could focus on. Even with smudged mascara and drenched hair, you were the most beautiful by far to look at. You had a slight smile on your face that gave away your adorable admiration for the bright lights.
“Hey! Come on out the water! It’s time to eat!” Joel shouts over the noise of the fireworks and the music playing from Robin’s speaker.
“Alright. I’m out. I’m starving,” Jesse states as he swims towards the dock, lifting himself up and onto the wood.
The rest of the group followed after, muttering a series of ‘me too’ and ‘I’m so hungry’. Steve, though, made his way over to you and Ellie with a slight wince.
“Guys, I can grab you guys the food. Just tell me what you want.” Steve kindly grinned but there was something about it that was…cheeky.
It wasn’t until you noticed he made direct eye contact with you, brows raised suggestively. You narrowed your eyes and was so thankful that Ellie was behind you so she couldn’t see you obviously mouthing ‘I hate you’ to the beautiful boy.
“Uh, yeah. I’ll take two hot dogs and some barbecue chips,” Ellie spoke first as you were silently glaring at Steve.
“And what would you like?” His gaze focused on you, speaking to you with his soft brown eyes.
His look was telling you ‘you better tell her or I will’. You roll your eyes before telling him: “Some beef fajita with two corn tortillas and some cilantro, please.”
Steve nodded, looking over your shoulder with a small stupid shit-eating grin.
“Thanks, Steve,” Ellie says over your shoulder.
You suck in a deep breath and motion with your eyes for him to leave already.
“Yes, thank you, Steve.”
He nods as he grips on the ledge of the dock.
“No problem. I’ll be back with your orders, ladies.”
With that, he pulls himself up and out of the water to walk over to where the rest of the group was hounding for the freshly grilled food. That left you and Ellie swimming around the water, silence engulfing the two of you.
“He is such a dork,” you speak up, a fond smile on your face.
Ellie hummed in agreement, eyes following to every square inch of your face. What was she doing? Did you have a piece of grass on your face or something?
“Ellie?” You call her, swimming closer to her.
“Yeah?” Ellie blinked.
“You, like, zoned out on me there.” You chuckled and shook your head. “I was going to say we should probably get out so that we can eat soon.”
“Fuck, you’re right. Should we get out so we can eat right here on the ledge and still watch the fireworks?” Ellie offered when she realized you were right.
You nod with such a sweet smile Ellie thought about grabbing you to kiss you right then and there.
“Okay, c’mon,” you paddle over to the dark wood to lift yourself up and sit directly on the ledge.
Ellie stayed behind for a second to shamefully stare at your ass before you sat on it. She never thought she would be jealous of a piece of carved wood.
“Alright, move over,” she pats your calf that was dangling over the edge.
You almost flinch at her cold touch, silently missing her hand on you. You do as you're told and scoot your body down so that Ellie could slot herself next to you so that you were shoulder to shoulder. Steve was taking a suspiciously long time but you didn’t comment on it as you knew you were going to tell Ellie; you couldn’t and wouldn’t back out.
“So anything with you and Abby yet?” Ellie asks hesitantly, staring at your side profile as you beamed up at the sky.
The bursts of multicolored light lit up your face in a way that reminded her of how much she truly admired everything about you. You shook your head rapidly before chuckling awkwardly, adjusting your wet t-shirt that was clinging to your body.
“No, no,” you wipe off a few pieces of grass off your water-ridden thighs. “Friends. I thought I could…”
You trail off as you realize how close you were to saying the truth. Ellie, being irritatingly observant, noticed your hesitation to finish the sentence and furrowed her brows before nudging her own damp shoulder with yours. Your larynx tightens as you stare straight ahead.
“You could what?”
You refused to make eye contact with her, turning around to glance at your group of friends who were surrounding Tommy and Joel, grabbing the fresh hot-dogs and fajitas off of the smokey grill. You could see Robin smack Jesse upside the head for what you could only assume is something stupid he said. You smile small at the sight of Abby waving at you, knowing that the two of you were okay and remembering the conversation the two of you had.
“Just please save everyone from you two dancing around the fact that you’re in love with one another and tell her.”
You clear your throat and shake your head, taking a risk to stare at her gorgeous freckled face. Her auburn hair dark from the water seeped into her strands, a few droplets of lake water dotted on her nose, cheeks and lips.
“That I could… distract myself with her which,” you pause to groan and cover your eyes with embarrassment. “I know. It sounds so shitty but I don’t know. It seemed like the best option at the time.”
Ellie hummed to show she was paying attention to what you were saying.
“Best option instead of what?” Ellie questioned as she reached her hand to tuck a falling strand behind her ear.
You suck in a deep breath, replaying everyone’s encouragement to tell Ellie how you felt in your head. Your cheeks were heating up underneath the droplets of cool lake water as you were mentally piecing together the words that would get the point across.
“Well, instead of telling you the truth,” you vaguely confess, hoping that she would just take the hint.
“Tell me what?” Ellie leans forward to try and get you to look her in the eyes.
You sigh nervously, swinging your feet over the edge of the dock to the lake. Ellie glanced down at your fidgety legs and tense composure, a suspicion taking over her psyche but she kept quiet.
“Ellie,” you mutter, shaking your head as you glanced over at her figure.
The auburn haired girl had an awaiting expression on her face, green eyes wide and head tilted to examine your face.
“Yeah?” She questioned with a hum.
Your eyes shamelessly drop to her pink lips, watching a drop of water glide down them to her chin.
Fuck it.
“Can I kiss you?” You breathe out, eyes pouring into hers.
Ellie’s smile grows as soon as the word ‘kiss’ leaves your mouth, nodding at your question. Her body leans into yours as your lips lock slowly, like the two of you were trying to savor every moment. You sigh as her hand comes up to cradle the side of your damp face, moving her cool lips against your own.
Her lips taste like Vodka and lake water which would make you gag on any other occasion but you would take that taste forever as long as it was hers. Ellie’s running her thumb over your cheek, taking in a deep breath as she lifted her other hand up to cup your face to guide you into heavily kissing her.
You hadn’t made out with anyone in a long time but it came so easily as the three years of anticipation were dawning over the two of you.
“Fucking finally!”
You freeze at Dina’s shout from a few feet away. There was a small part of you that wanted to throw up in your mouth from embarrassment but Ellie was quick to flip over the now wild group. You even noticed Tommy and Joel with noise makers in their mouths.
“Three years,” Ellie whispered to you. “Three years I’ve been waiting to do that.”
“Now you can do it whenever you want,” you tilt your head, staring into her green eyes that seemed to be all pupil now that you were really looking into them.
Is that how your eyes looked when you looked at her?
“I can’t believe you never took it off,” Ellie grabbed your wrist and held up the bracelet she made you.
“Well, some weird girl obsessed with space and dinosaurs made it for me,” you grin cheekily, glancing at the adorable gift.
“Is she pretty?” Ellie furrowed her brows.
“Never met anyone prettier,” you admit, your cheeks aching from how much you were smiling.
Ellie’s own sheepish grin matched your own, kissing the inner part of your wrist and the beads of the bracelet. The two of you never explicitly said that you wanted to go out.
Every fiber in you knew that this right here was worth everything.

The sound of birds in the distance reaches your ears.
Today the sky is cloudy, with no chance of rain, the temperature is pleasant and you are thankful that there are no intense sun rays burning your skin when you are outdoors.
You find yourself immersed in your physics homework, sitting on the bleachers of the sports field, where you can only hear the sound of the birds and also faintly the sound of the soccer team training.
You sit in tranquility, undisturbed and unobserved by anyone, when suddenly the sound of footsteps stepping on the metal bleachers pulls you out of your concentration.
You look up and see Aemond approaching, a small smile on his face. You return his greeting with a shy smile and make a small space beside you for him to take a seat.
Aemond plops down nonchalantly next to you, letting out a sigh, then curiously observes what you're doing on your lap.
"What are you doing?"
You deliberately ignore his question and instead, take a loose leaf you had tucked away among your folder, pick it up and hold it out to him, with a gentle yet expectant look.
Aemond takes it and frowns, reading what you've written on it, only getting more confused.
'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen.
'Romeo and Juliet' by William Shakespeare.
"And what is this?"
"Have you already forgotten my conditions of the contract?" you tell him amused, "For every party I go with you to, you have to read one of my favorite books or watch one of my favorite movies or shows," you remind him, "So now, you have to pick one of these two of my favorite books."
Aemond rolls his eye with amusement.
"And why exactly do I have to pick one of these two? Don't they seem... repetitive and so usual?"
"That's what people always say, obviously they know these books by the title and their authors, but how many people actually read these books?" you look at him with your tone full of expectation, "I'm sure you haven't read either of them."
He shrugs indifferently, with his nonchalant air.
"So? There are movies," he says confused, "I haven't seen them either, but I know how they both end. In the end they both get married," he points to the title of 'Pride and Prejudice', "And here they both die together and their families stop being rivals," he points to 'Romeo and Juliet'.
You let out a small chuckle at his witty response, but you are not intimidated.
"Yes but there are a lot of things that in the movies they don't show, so... what will be your choice, Mr. Aemond?"
He lets out a laugh.
"Well, we'll see how this 'Romeo and Juliet' is," he decides.
"Perfect."
And when he least expects it, from your backpack you take the book, handing it to him with your clear satisfaction and he still confused but amused examines the book in his hands.
"Good, then give me the other one at once, because there's a new party on Saturday," he tells you, completely grabbing your attention.
You open your eyes wide and stare at him in disbelief and surprise.
"What? So soon?" you ask with clear irritation and disappointment in your look and tone.
"Why are you so disappointed? After all you come out on top too since I'm going to read two of your shitty boring books," he says as he raises them slightly in the air.
"My books aren't shitty and they aren't boring!" you exclaim indignantly giving him a gentle tap on the shoulder, "And it's okay, I just didn't think it would be so soon."
"We'll just go for a little while. Then we can both go get some dinner and I'll drop you off at your house early. Sound good?"
"Yeah, it's fine."
And as soon as you say that, you also hand him the second book with a good forced look, making Aemond laugh and take that book too.
"As much as I like seeing you with a wrinkled nose, take it off or it's going to stay that way," he says amused, crinkling it between his fingers briefly, making you laugh and you immediately move his hand away from your face.
Then he says goodbye to you, before getting up and heading off to his next class. And also not before telling you that he'll see you at lunch.
And as you watch him walk away, you tell yourself that these little interactions are part of pretending, since after all, the guys on the soccer team can see them clearly from this distance.
However, that slight fear returns to yourself that things may get more complicated than you expect.
Fortunately, the rest of the week goes smoothly, the teachers seem to be in a good mood and the homework is not heavy.
And you clearly continue to pretend along with Aemond.
Both he and you continue to act as usual, he is attentive and affectionate when you are together in full view of everyone at school. His gestures and looks full of complicity make you feel special, but at the same time remind you that it's all part of a game.
You also keep your word with Helaena, taking time to sit together for lunch at break time and occasionally Alysanne joins in as well, where you gradually start telling her about Cregan.
Until the day of the party arrives.
You tell your dad that you're going to a birthday celebration for a class friend, nothing big and everything quiet.
Then you opt for a pair of black pants, low-heeled ankle boots, a strappy blouse in a vibrant shade of cherry and a jacket to complement the outfit. And once you look in the mirror, you feel ready, although the nerves begin to settle in your stomach.
And of course, Aemond arrives promptly at your house.
His relaxed expression and smile greet you before you even get into the car. And driving to the party, the atmosphere is comfortable and calm.
And when you both arrive at the house where the party is, it's not a big, loud party like the previous one. But the atmosphere is full of energy, there is music, people dancing, drinks and cigarettes.
And you together with Aemond follow the same procedure to pretend to be a couple in love.
This time, you both decide to be more present with Aemond's friends. You sit between Trevor and Aemond, who immediately puts an arm around your shoulders, pulling you towards him, starting to make conversation with his friends.
And as always, he makes sure you're always included, just like during lunch in the cafeteria.
And while everyone is talking, the guys and Aemond make you laugh, feeling more and more comfortable with them. And as the night goes on, you realize how natural it feels to be next to Aemond, as if you fit perfectly into his world, at least for tonight.
When he at your side looks at you attentively and with some curiosity.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah," you nod nonchalantly, "Why?"
"Just asking," he shrugs, then lifts his hand and tucks a lock of your hair behind your ear, "Can I get you something to drink?"
You shake your head.
"I don't want to drink beer or anything like that."
"Then a soda? Or water?"
You let out a small laugh.
"Okay, soda's fine."
"Alright. I'll be back soon," he says then leaves a soft kiss on your forehead and gets up to head towards the kitchen.
He leaves for a moment and you are left talking to his friends, who are a lot of fun and in fact, because of them and Aemond, you begin to understand lacrosse as such, since that's all they talk about, besides their nonsense.
And also about some of the girls they like.
And also in that small moment that Aemond leaves, as you briefly observe the party around you, you see Alys with her group of friends in another corner.
You just casually watch them, you don't plan to give them any attention, but just as your eyes watch Alys, she watches you back.
And you are struck by how she says something to her friends with a smirk of superiority without taking her eyes off you and then everyone in her group watches you and laughs too.
You snort as you look away, as if you really care.
Aemond returns with your soda and only a glass of beer for himself, resuming conversation with both you and his friends, having a good time together.
Time passes and you feel the need to go to the bathroom, so you leave your now empty glass on the small table in the center.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom," you announce, catching his attention, starting to stretch a bit to get up.
"Do you want me to come with you?" he asks you thoughtfully, "I mean, wait for you outside."
"No need, don't worry. I'll be back soon," you assure him, standing up.
"Okay," he nods at you with a small smile.
With a nod, you walk away towards the second floor bathroom, where you'll mostly take a moment to recharge your batteries before heading back to the party.
Luckily the bathroom is empty and you do everything you need to do without pressure.
Then you take a deep breath, allow yourself a brief moment of calm before returning to the party, wash your hands and mentally go over how you should behave around Aemond in front of everyone.
As you exit the bathroom, just down the hall, you notice Alys' presence in the area near the stairs.
You think about just ignoring her and walking past her, but when her eyes watch you, as if she is waiting for you, a mischievous smile curves her lips and she turns fully towards you, giving you her full attention.
"What do we have here," she mutters sarcastically, moving towards you while holding a red plastic cup in her hand.
You watch her completely unconcerned and walk past her, as you don't plan on dealing with her right now or ever.
"How does it feel to be Aemond's new pet?" she asks with a mocking laugh, planting herself in front of you, stopping your steps, "Or did you just think you could replace me so easily?"
Your heart begins to pound in your chest, but you stand your ground, reminding yourself that you will not let his words affect you, as his expression is filled with disdain.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," you reply calmly, trying not to give her the pleasure of seeing you affected by her comments.
She glares at you, before a sly smile spreads across her face.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she says with false sympathy, "I really thought you knew."
You frown.
"He's always done this, ever since we started dating," she says, "When we'd break up, he'd date the first girl in front of him as a pathetic attempt to replace me and make me jealous, so you're not the first and won't be the last, sweetie," she tells you with a fake pout, feigning pity for you.
You fix your gaze on Alys, feeling a mixture of anger and frustration coursing through your body. Who does she think she is to talk to you like that?
"I don't need your false sympathy," you reply with determination, your voice resonating louder than you expected, "What Aemond and I have has nothing to do with you."
Alys rolls her eyes in exasperation, as if your words are irrelevant to her.
"Oh, please," she replies dismissively, "Don't lie to yourself. He's always been like that, he's just looking to distract himself and you're just the last in line," she points out to you irrelevantly, "When we broke up, he was crying like a baby for me, begging me to get back together."
Your heart clenches at her words, with a surge of emotions surging through your chest.
For a moment, doubt takes hold of you.
Did Aemond really do that? Was he so affected by their breakup?
You tell yourself that maybe if he hadn't, he would never have asked you to do this. But this was mostly so that Alys would stop making a fool of him at school by cheating on him, not to get his attention and make her jealous... right?
"I'm not surprised you don't know," she continues to tell you dismissively, "But do you really think he loves you? Please," she snorts derisively, "He'll dump you in a few weeks when I give him the slightest hope because he's still crazy about me," she says superiorly, "Look at you and look at me. I know what he's into and that's definitely not you, especially you."
You try to ignore the stinging pain and keep your composure, clenching your jaw.
"I don't care what happened between you," you reply bravely, even if your voice shakes a little, "Ours is different."
She lets out a mocking laugh.
"Oh you poor little thing, you're so naive."
"If that's all, thank you so much for that vital information for my life," you tell her just as mockingly, walking past her, determined to leave her behind.
But just as you pass by her side, Alys moves along with you and purposefully slams your shoulder and arm with brutality, causing the beer in her hand to spill in a dull motion onto your chest and clothes.
The cold, sticky liquid slides down your blouse and pants, leaving you drenched and shocked by the suddenness of the moment.
You feel the liquid soak through your clothes and a shiver runs down your back. And you look down, watching in disbelief as the drink spreads through your clothes.
Then you look back at Alys, who has a mocking, amused look on her face.
"Oh, gosh, how clumsy of me," Alys scoffs, her tone of voice full of fake concern, "I'm really sorry, it was an accident."
You take a deep breath to contain your frustration, but her words spark a small spark of anger inside you. How can she be so brazen?
"An accident?" you repeat, disbelief in your voice as you stare at her with a frown.
Alys just smiles mischievously, enjoying your discomfort and what she just did to you.
"Enjoy the party, honey. But first, maybe you should clean yourself up," she says before turning away, leaving you soaking wet and clearly feeling very proud.
You don't even know what to do, feeling this way leaves you paralyzed for a moment, until you finally make your way back to the bathroom.
At the sink you further wet your clothes with water, which looks worse, but at least you won't stink of beer.
Drops of beer also splashed into your hair, so you wipe that off as well, feeling the humiliation wash over you and you don't even know exactly why.
But you do.
You look down at your ruined booties too, soaked from the front with beer and water.
The skin on your chest and collarbone feels chuckling from the beer, so you wipe it off too, when suddenly, there's a knock on the door.
"One moment!" you exclaim grumpily, still cleaning yourself.
"Y/N?"
You hear Aemond's worried voice outside.
"Fuck," you curse in a whisper.
"Are you okay?"
You bite the inside of your cheek and let out a long breath, already having the idea that you won't be able to hide this from him.
You were only supposed to come to the bathroom and you've already been late, of course he must have sensed something was wrong and come looking for you.
You leave the wet towel in the sink and open the door, where Aemond instantly notices you and opens his eye wide, seeing your clothes and some of your soaked hair.
"What happened?" he asks worriedly, moving quickly towards you, examining you.
You struggle to keep your composure, but can't, a bad mood overcomes you and you make your displeasure clear.
"Alys threw her drink on me," you finally say, stepping aside to let him go into the bathroom with you, reaching back for the damp towel to clean your skin.
Surprise crosses your face before it morphs into an expression of restrained fury and disbelief.
"What?"
You hiss, looking in the mirror at yourself as you wipe your sticky skin.
"Did she say something to you?" he asks, his voice serious but full of concern.
You let out a gesture of disbelief.
"She said things many things," you say seriously, not watching him for a moment, trying to dry your hair with the towel.
Aemond frowns, clearly annoyed.
He walks over to you and takes the towel from your hands, stopping your attempt to dry your hair. His gaze meets yours through the mirror, searching for answers.
"What things did dhe say?"
You sigh, feeling the weight of the situation on your shoulders.
"It doesn't matter, she just said bullshit," you reply evasively, looking away.
Aemond watches your face, urgently wanting you to look him in the eye, but you don't, you avoid his gaze and are obviously annoyed with the situation, which he doesn't blame you for.
He's annoyed too, because he knew he should have been near you to protect you if Alys is in the same place as the two of you.
He sighs in frustration, feeling the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, watching your soaked clothes and how you continue to clean yourself.
"I'm sorry," he murmurs sincerely, his voice full of regret, "You shouldn't have gone through this. She's totally out of her mind."
You remain silent for a moment, fighting the emotions that threaten to overwhelm you. As he looks at you with anguish and regret for not protecting you from Alys' comments and actions.
"It's not your fault," you finally say in a serious voice, still not looking at him, then set the damp towel down on the sink and inhale softly, "Can you take me home?"
Aemond nods, feeling guilty.
"Sure," he murmurs, "But first... you can put on my jacket," he says as he starts to take it off, "I'll be waiting outside."
He takes it off and gently hands it to you, his hand brushing against yours with a gesture of tenderness.
"Thanks," you murmur.
He exits the bathroom, closes the door and you remove your blouse and soaked jacket, leaving your bra down and immediately wrap his jacket around you, zipping it up almost to your throat.
With your clothes in your hands, you walk out of the bathroom and Aemond watches you silently, attentive and concerned, with a sadness and frustration in his eye that he can't hide.
He hates your distance.
A few moments ago the two of you were having a good time and now that Alys has done this... he hates that you are apart from him.
You both return to the party and Aemond doesn't even say goodbye to his friends, thinking he'll text them later, grabbing your shoulder and walking out of the house with you.
Together, you walk to his car in silence, where he doesn't dare to say a single word to you and you don't really want to talk either.
And all the way to your house, that nagging feeling doesn't leave your system.
But is it specifically because Alys spilled her drink on you or is it the interesting information she shared with you about Aemond?
You don't.
But you do.
Aemond tried to talk to you about what happened but you wouldn't let him.
You feel it's something you shouldn't make a big deal about. After all, he and you are not really 'dating'. So before he dropped you off at your house, you just reassured him that everything was fine and nothing more.
Now it's your father who drops you off at school on this day and you head towards your locker, immersed for a moment in thought.
You carelessly take your backpack off your shoulders to open it at the same time you open your locker, but as you do so, a polaroid falls to the floor.
You frown and bend down to pick it up, confused, since it's not yours.
And as you look at it, your heart begins to beat too hard in your chest as you see a picture of Aemond and Alys as if at a school dance or a party, both of them hugging.
But that's not what catches your attention, what does is seeing how there's is a picture of your face overlaid over where Alys' face should be, indicating just that, her replacement, a second place or temporary substitute.
But the thing about you and Aemond is not real.
So... why are you so affected by something you know isn't real?
It's a question that haunts your mind as you struggle to maintain your composure, beginning to tremble and feel your breathing heavy.
You swallow hard and press your lips together, when just then, you hear it...the giggles.
You raise your gaze and in the distance, you see Alys with her friends watching in your direction and laughing, clearly mocking you.
Although your relationship with Aemond is fake, the pain you feel at this moment is real.
And before you can react, Aemond's voice is suddenly heard.
"Hey, I was—
You turn your head towards him instantly and your eyes meet his, but his words hang in the air the moment he sees what you hold in your hands.
His soft expression slowly transforms from confusion to fury as he sees the picture. His whole face hardens completely and he purses his lips.
And sure enough, it's a matter of him realizing what's happening, as he hears Alys and her friends' laughter and looks in their direction, hardening his gaze even more.
"Aemond—
You try to speak but he instantly walks over to where Alys is standing without saying a word to you, taking the picture from your hands.
Your heart beats harder, opening your eyes wide and you want to walk towards him, to stop him, but somehow, you are paralyzed and you don't know exactly why.
Tension begins to feel in the air and you feel like your heart will burst out of your chest at any moment.
Aemond arrives in front of Alys with a determined look, his jaw tense and his fists clenched at his side. Instead of shouting, however, his voice is firm and controlled.
"From now on, I don't ever want to see you keep bothering my girlfriend with your fucking little girl pranks again, do you understand me?" he says angrily to then throw the photo at her.
The photo hits her face lightly and Alys looks up at him, surprised by the sudden intensity of his voice and his movements.
Instead of showing fear, however, her face hardens with an expression of disdain and disbelief.
"Oh, look who thinks he's the hero," she replies with her cynical smile, trying to hide her discomfort behind her façade of superiority, "I didn't know you had to protect your little girlfriend, Aemond. And come on, we were just joking."
Aemond clenches his fists, his jaw tense with frustration. But he continues to maintain his composure, his eye fixed on hers with determination.
"Oh yeah? You were just joking?" he repeats, "And the party thing on Saturday was a fucking joke too?"
Her face tenses slightly at the mention of the party, her smile fading momentarily before her regains his composure.
"That was an accident—
"Yeah, right. Everything to you is an accident, something you didn't meant to do, something that got out of hand. How could I not know about that, right? It's always the same fucking story with you."
She purses her lips.
"Who the fuck do you think you are to talk to me like that—
"Leave me and my girlfriend alone," he tells her slowly and clearly, "I'm not going to tell you again and I don't want to know that you're doing your shitty jokes again," he warns her, making it clear with his tone that he's not willing to tolerate her childish games anymore.
Alys recoils slightly at the annoyance and determination in his voice, her confidence waning slightly.
And before she can say anything else, Aemond turns and walks back along with you.
The students around you are still fully attentive to the confrontation, shocked and delighted by the drama, while you watch Aemond in awe of the way he has defended you.
"Come on," he murmurs to you in a softer, gentler way, closing your locker door and taking your hand, leading you with him away from the watchful eyes.
After what happened, he takes you with him to a nearby empty classroom and once inside, he gently closes the door behind him and turns to look at you, his expression attentive and full of concern.
He doesn't say anything right away and you just bite the inside of your cheek and lower your gaze, not knowing exactly what to say or what to do.
Until he exhales deeply, releasing the tension built up in his shoulders.
"Are you okay?" he asks, his voice soft and comforting as he watches you intently.
You nod slightly, though your hands still tremble slightly.
"I'm fine," you reply, trying to sound unconcerned.
He sighs, tearing his gaze away from yours for a moment.
"I'm so sorry. I-I didn't... I didn't expect something like this to happen. And she..." he runs a hand across his forehead in frustration, "It's not fair for you to be dealing with this."
"You have nothing to apologize for, Aemond," you tell him softly and sincerely, "But thank you for standing up for me."
He sighs.
"And you don't have to thank me, Y/N. It was the least I could do. But I promise you this is the last time something like this happens."
"You can't control what Alys does or doesn't do."
He exhales again.
"I know, but we never agreed that you would go through these bad times in the contract."
"Hey," you take a step towards him, your gaze soft as you see the frustration and worry on his face, starting to get upset, "Aemond," you call his name in a calm manner, "It's okay. I'm fine. Yes, the party thing and today was difficult but..." you shrug, "I'm fine. It's nothing I can't handle."
Still the worry doesn't leave his face.
"Are you sure? At the party you were upset and I don't blame you, but I don't want this to affect between us. You were distant and now...
His words float in the air and you try to place a small, comforting smile in his direction, though it appears more of a grimace.
"We're fine," you assure him softly.
His gaze reflects a mixture of relief, watching you without another word, then briefly glancing around.
And then an idea seems to cross his mind and he watches you again, attentive.
"What do you say we skip this first class?"
"What?" you immediately inquire.
"I know you don't like skipping classes but just one missed class isn't going to hurt you."
You frown.
"And what do you want to do?"
He shrugs.
"Just talk."
You bite your lower lip, hesitant.
But it's only enough to see the look on Aemond's face and his posture, utterly determined and solely waiting for you, that you finally let out a resigned sigh and nod.
Soon the two of you are sitting in the bleachers, with almost no one around, just the cheerleading squad training in the corner of the huge soccer and lacrosse field.
The atmosphere is quiet and you like that, just like the last time you were here and he chose the book of 'Romeo and Juliet' to read.
And once both of you are silent, just looking around and feeling each other's presence, Aemond decides to speak.
"What did Alys say to you at that party?"
He dares in asking, his gaze searching yours with a mixture of curiosity and concern, while you remain silent for a moment, not expecting that he would try to bring up the subject again.
And inevitably Alys' words echo in your mind, leaving a bitter taste in your mouth.
And you don't understand why.
You don't understand why you feel this unpleasant sensation when you remember her words.
"Well, she wasn't very nice..." you're silent for a moment, "Actually she wasn't at all but..." you lick your lips and avert your gaze from him, focusing on the lacrosse field, "She called me... your new pet, a new pathetic attempt to replace her."
He frowns, his gaze hardening as he hears your words, incredulous and annoyed. And he doesn't need to say anything, his face speaks for itself.
"She said you did that all the time when you both broke up... you know," you clear your throat, "Going out with other girls to make her jealous so she'd come back to you. That I was just a distraction and that pretty soon you'd drop me the moment she gave you the slightest hope of getting back together."
His lips tighten into a line, closing his eye for a moment and shaking his head, still intent on your words. And you prepare to say the next thing more softly and tactfully.
"She also said that you cried to her and begged her to come back this last time you both broke up."
He snorts, more incredulous than ever.
"Of course she said that."
And before he can speak further, you feel the need to clarify your behavior a bit.
"I always acted with her as if we were a real couple," you clarify, "I wasn't bothered by what she said," what a fucking lie, "What bothered me was her talking to me that way and throwing her drink on me."
"No, no, it's okay, I understand that," he assures you instantly, in a soft voice, "But everything she said to you is not true."
You watch him with your parted lips, slightly surprised and beginning to feel your heart knot.
"It isn't?"
"No," he says more firmly, incredulous, "It's true that I begged her to get back together, but that was a while ago, practically in the beginning of our relationship when it was fun for her to break up and come back," he explains to you, serious and honest with his words, "I was crazy about her, I even grew to love her and gave her all of me. But I was just a fucking child experiencing his first love... and that wasn't enough for her."
His confession takes your breath away for a moment, revealing a vulnerability you didn't expect, watching his serious and frustrated face clearly from what happened at the party and an hour ago at your locker.
You have no idea what to say, not wanting to minimize his feelings from that time nor now by saying the wrong thing.
"It's also not true that I was dating other girls to make her jealous to get her to come back to me, I-I..." he shakes his head, "I've never been like that. And you're certainly no distraction or... my new pet," he says with distaste.
You let out a long breath.
"I'm sorry," you say softly, "She said it in a way that made me believe her. I don't know what I was thinking," you say sincerely, "And I'm also sorry she made you feel that way," you mumble, feeling a lump in your throat.
"Don't worry, it's okay," he says softly, with a bitter little smile and his gaze lowered.
He shakes his head regretfully, as if he's remembering a past he'd rather forget and you feel guilty.
"It's just..." he starts to say, "Why would I want to go back to her if she cheated on me?" he asks incredulously, "She was the one who cried and begged to get back together this last time. And you know why? Because I found her fucking that guy in her car after she told me she was feeling sick and didn't feel like seeing me or going out with me."
Fuck.
His words echo in your mind, bringing with them a wave of sadness and empathy, definitely not expecting to hear that.
You never knew how it was that Alys cheated on Aemond, it only began to be said that it was with a college guy, but it was never said under what circumstances exactly she cheated on him.
You feel a sharp pang in your chest and suddenly feel outraged at what he had to endure, that she betrayed his trust in that horrible way.
How could she do that to him?
You don't have a heart made of stone to put a person through that.
You feel grateful that he shared this with you. It just shows you the level of trust you both have built. And you take a moment before you speak, trying to find the right words.
And the first thing you do is raise your hand and place it on top of his.
"I'm so sorry," you say softly, sincerely, "I'm so sorry you went through that. You didn't deserve it."
"You don't have to apologize, Y/N," he replies gently, accepting your touch, "None of it was your fault."
Then he sighs and you realize there's a weight to his words, a pain he's carried with him for some time.
"It's just... "he continues speaking, his voice heavy with mixed emotions, "Even if this thing between the two of us was real, why do this? Why tell these lies and want to hurt you with her cruel words and actions? Why won't she let me move on?"
You press your lips together and your heart clenches as you listen to his anguish.
"Maybe she's still in love with you," you mutter, trying to find a reason, "In her own twisted way."
He shakes his head, incredulous.
"This isn't love. It wasn't before and it isn't now. She just wants to have me eating out of the palm of her hand, like always."
His words are blunt and make you feel even more helpless about the situation.
And there's really nothing you can do, you can only be here for him, listen to him, support him in whatever he needs and be... his friend, like you've really been all this time, putting aside your facade of a girlfriend in love.
Right?
He lets out another sigh, this time heavier than the previous ones, and then leans against the metal of the bleachers behind you, leaning back.
You think he will let go of your hand, but he pulls you along with him, both of you close, shoulder to shoulder, both of you suddenly falling silent, saying nothing more, just staring at the horizon.
Until he speaks again.
"I don't want to think about it anymore," he says as he watches you and you look back at him almost instantly, feeling his thumb gently caress the back of your hand, sending a kind of electricity through your body.
And you propose the first thing that comes to mind.
"Do you want to listen to music until the next class starts?" you say in a soft voice and he nods immediately.
You take your headphones from your backpack, your phone and settle back down next to him, handing him an earphone and then you play your Spotify playlist with the songs you keep listening to lately.
You don't even know if he also likes the same style of music as you, but he doesn't complain or say anything to you the moment you start playing The 1997, Harry Styles, The Weeknd, Chase Atlantic, Cigarettes After Sex and Lana del Rey.
Until he closes his eyes and suddenly uses you as a pillow, dropping his head on your shoulder, immediately this catching your attention and feeling a strange sensation in your lower stomach.
Despite being surprised and feeling confused for a moment, you do absolutely nothing to push him away and after a moment of hesitation, you slowly drop your head on top of his as well.
He doesn't open his eye or say anything to you, he just settles in better and then you both get very still, continuing to listen to music.
And you can't help but wonder; are the two of you even pretending now?
You honestly don't know.
"We have a problem."
That's the first thing Aemond says to you on a Tuesday morning when he stops by to drive you to school.
Immediately this catches your attention and you look at him slightly concerned, closing the passenger seat door to the side of you and watch him completely attentively.
"What's wrong?"
"My mom knows about you."
Shit.
Your whole body tenses and you watch him with your eyes wide open in surprise.
"And of course, she wants to meet you."
Oh shit.
"B-but...
You try to speak, not finding the right words watching him confused, not understanding anything and Aemond helps you with that as soon as he sees your completely disbelieving and surprised face.
"Aegon told her," he lets you know, "The fucking cunt talked out of turn and before he knew it, I'd already told her everything."
Oh God.
"And what did she tell you?" you ask, feeling a knot in your stomach.
"She wants you to go to dinner Friday night."
He tells you in a soft voice and looking just as worried as you do, still trying to convey calm.
"I told her I'd talk to you about it, but..." he lets out a resigned sigh, "I know her. And she won't leave me alone until she meets you. She's really nice, I swear, she's the sweetest person and... I know we agreed not to involve families but I had nothing to do with this."
Your mind is spinning as you finish processing the information, feeling an unexpected uneasiness and anxiety.
The mere thought of meeting Aemond's mom already makes you feel nauseous from the same nerves. However, you empathize with him, as this wasn't something he planned and it was by third parties who think he and you are actually dating.
But still, you feel incredibly nervous and the day hasn't even come close.
"I get it," you mumble, trying to hide your nervousness, licking your lips, then looking at him hesitantly, "You want me to?"
Aemond averts his gaze from you, running a hand over his face, not knowing exactly what to say to you, as you wait for his thoughtful response.
Until he lets out a long breath and moves a little closer towards you, placing his hand on top of yours.
"I know this is a lot to ask, especially after we agreed not to do this," he tells you softly, "And my mother is insistent, I do want you to meet her, but... if you don't want to do it, it's totally fine with me," he assures you, "The least I want to do is pressure you into doing something you're not comfortable with."
His words comfort you a little, but you still feel the nervousness wash over you, as well as feel a slight pang of guilt.
You bite your lower lip, struggling with your own emotions and thoughts.
"It's just that I feel remorseful that I'm going to meet her and she's going to meet me when this isn't real," you say in a sad, worried tone.
"I know," he says with compression, holding his hand tighter with yours, "Me too but you won't have to do this again. I'll take care of it, I promise."
You let out a long breath you too, lowering your gaze to the clasped hands in your lap as you feel Aemond's attentive and concerned gaze on you.
"All right," you finally reply, "If it's important to you and your mother, I'll handle it."
"Are you sure? You can tell me no and I'll understand."
"No, don't worry," you assure him, "I will."
He smiles softly at you with gratitude, but also with a hint of concern in his eye.
"Thank you. I really appreciate it."
And despite your own misgivings, you return the small smile.
"It's okay, really. I just... need a little time to think."
Aemond nods, understanding.
"Sure."

“Sit down, Solace, you pain in the ass, I’ll get it.”
Will huffs moodily, trying in vain to continue hobbling towards the cupboards against the infirmary wall. Nico has to physically wrestle him back to his cot, which in theory should be way harder, but luckily he’s weak enough from the pain meds that once Nico manages to shove him against the cushions, he can’t get back up.
Ha. Karma.
“You can’t get it,” says the most dramatic drama queen alive, dramatically, “on account of you not know what ‘it’ is.”
Nico smiles patiently. It resembles, to the outside eye and perhaps the inner one also, the bared teeth of a grinning shark. “Tell me, then.”
“No.”
“Then tough shit for you.”
“I’m just gonna wait until you’re turned away again,” Will calls against his retreating back. Nico flips him the bird. “So this was futile, really.”
He’s stubborn, but he’s not an idiot, Nico reassures himself. Surely, the many years — formative years — he’s spent as head medic have made him smart. Surely, Mr. Nagging Nag shall heed his own advice, lest the entire camp descend upon him in swathes of shrieking, not quite righteous fury, intolerant or hypocrisy. Surely.
He hears the creak of a rickety bed, a thunk of something hitting the wooden floorboards, and a soft oof.
He closes his eyes and exhales deeply.
For fuck’s sake.
When he turns around, he sees William Andrew Solace, Best Healer in Generations, Paraded Progeny of Apollo, Also Notably Naomi Solace’s Son, That’s Kinda Sick, Isn’t It, sprawled on the floor, ridiculously long limbs outstretched, attempting to wiggle across the floor to the cupboards.
“Solace, I am going to kill you.”
“Some healer you are,” Will mutters, as if Nico is not playing healer right now purely because he is the only one in the entire camp with a half a chance of wrangling the dumbass head medic himself. He continues to wiggle.
Wrapping a hand around his uninjured ankle, Nico drags him bodily back to his cot, ignoring the shrieking.
“One day on bedrest, you dipshit. One. Day. That is all anyone is asking if you.”
“My binder!” he insists, because he is difficult. “I don’t need to sit down and do nothing, I need to run my infirmary!”
“You need to sit the fuck down and heal your body before it schedules healing for you,” Nico snaps. “For fuck’s sake, Will, does it matter to you at all that other people would like to see you safe and healthy, even if you couldn’t give a shit?”
For a glorifying moment, Will stares at him, eyes wide, face frozen. Nico meets his gaze, glaring, his own chest heaving where Will appears to have held his breath.
Then, Will bursts out laughing.
“That!” he says, wheezing. “That is what I have been trying to nail through your thick skull! Karma, you little turd!”
Mouth opening, and closing again, it’s Nico’s turn to freeze.
“Oh, gods.”
The horror in his voice is tangible. Will laughs harder.
“Oh, gods, I’m becoming you.”
He stumbles to the closest cot, sitting down quickly before he gets any dizzier than he already is. Nausea builds up his throat.
Gods, that was a direct quote.
“Not so fuckin’ easy to wrangle you clumsy shitheads, is it!”
Nico cradles his head in agony. No. No! It can’t be! He refuses to lend any credibility to Will’s mother-henning! He is obnoxious, and overbearing, and hell-bent on restricting Nico’s freedom; there is no way Nico is emulating him right now, because that would mean he has a point when he’s bossing Nico around, and — no. Cannot be.
“I told you,” Will says, smug as a godsdamn rooster in a hen house. (Oh, gods, now his stupid cowboy idioms are ringing in his head? He needs to spend less time with Will. Better yet, he should take another dip in the Lethe — willingly, this time. Anything is better than this.) “You clumsy fucks are the sole reason I am going to die from stress-induced heart failure at twenty-two, and then I am going to resurrect myself as a ghost through sheer stubborn will alone to haunt each and every one of you for eternity.”
Nico chooses to focus on the part of the sentence that he can conveniently argue with. “You don’t get to call anyone a clumsy fuck, on account of you shattering three bones in your ankle because you stomped your foot too hard when you were trying to make a point.”
“What was the point I was trying to make, again?”
Nico keeps his mouth shut.
“Something something reanimating entire dragons to scare the shit out of Cecil is going to drain you to dangerous levels of energy and make me have to drag you from the brink of death yet again something something.” He pauses. “Even if it was really funny and he nearly actually pissed himself.”
“Well, whatever,” Nico says, elegantly changing the subject. “You’re an idiot, and if you don’t let yourself heal than you’re worse than the rest of us and can never lecture us ever again. So. And I’ll rat you out, too, they’ll believe me.”
Will glares at him. Nico glares back.
“Get some rest,” Nico orders, still glaring. Will pulls a face and repeats his words back to him, mockingly.
“There’s a difference between me and the rest of you idiots,” he grumbles, petulantly ripping loose the blankets and shoving himself under them. Nico smacks his hands away, tucking them around him for him, checking his pillow, and then his forehead for good measure, just in case his stupid ass somehow gave himself a fever. Will squirms, just to make things difficult, so Nico, as acting healer in the room, has to smack him. “I can feel my limits.”
“And yet you pirouette right on over them. I think that makes you worse, actually.”
Will, son of the god of truth, has nothing to say to that.
“Stupid,” Nico says, fondly, squeezing a gentle hand in his cheek. “Sleep, okay? You can go back to being dictator of the infirmary when you’re healed.”
“Tomorrow,” he insists.
Nico rolls his eyes, smiling, and pulls his hand away. Will darts out and snatches his wrist before he goes far, eyes pleading, and Nico caves immediately. Will’s skin is warm, and smooth.
“If you’re healed by then.”
He traces his thumb across Will’s freckled cheekbone, shivering slightly as his long eyelashes tickle the tip of his fingerprint.
“Mhm.”
He’s already puffing out small, quiet snores, head lolling against Nico’s hand, body exhausted from working overtime to try and heal.
Shaking his head, Nico ducks down, pressing a kiss to the space between his eyes before pulling away. He watches him for a moment, peaceful, face smooth and un-creased, delicate cupids bow pink and poised, skin spattered with paintbrush freckles. Heart skipping, he can’t resist another quick peck, lingering, at the top of his nose, the middle of his cheek; again at the dip of his brow. It furrows, briefly, under his touch, before relaxing again.
“Goodnight, Will.” He brushes a knuckle over his cheek. “Thank you, you dork ass.”

⠀ ⠀ MOTH TO A FLAME !
ELLIE WILLIAMS ⠀⸝⸝ but does he know the reasons that you cry? or tell me does he know where your heart lies? where it truly lies. ⸝⸝
˗ˋ ୨୧ ˊ˗ warnings. +18 content, best friend!ellie x fem!reader, mention of sex with a man, reader is dating a man for the first few paragraphs but they break up soon in the fic, kind of emotional cheating tho, dealer!ellie + mention of usage of weed, reader checking out ellie all the time, it's hinted ellie masturbated thinking about reader and reader did too, ellie's actually kind of a loser lesbian but with a tough facade, idk if there's something more. 4.5k WORDS.
˗ˋ ୨୧ ˊ˗ vi's sticky note. so... i was watching tiktok and this appeared, some tiktok fake scenarios also helped me. this took me forever and i pretty much hate how rushed is.
⠀⠀⠀
IT DIDN'T FELT RIGHT, it didn't felt right how his hands roamed through the valley of your hips or how his lips sucked the skin in your neck, leaving soft reddish marks. It didn't felt right how his knee started to make space between your bare legs. It didn't felt right because he wasn't her and just that thought made your heart soak in guilt because he was actually everything you wished once.
Andrew was the type of guy Disney movies showed, with pearly white teeth hiding behind a cute smile, eyes that looked at you with burning adoration and desire, gentle with you and your wishes, the type of guy you would want to bring to your parents house and your friends adore but he was not the type of guy you wanted anymore. Because you didn't want Disney's pretty prince, maybe you wanted your hot lesbian best friend.
Fuck.
"Andrew... can we stop?" your voice coming out almost silent, "i'm not feeling well today," your lips forming a twisted smile as you pushed his shoulders and weight away from your body slightly.
"Oh, sorry, baby," his eyes opening in surprise as he got away, sitting next to your body only covered by your underwear, "i was doing something you didn't like?"
"Oh, no," liar, "it's not that," you were being such a liar. I mean, he was not that horrible at sex and the first times you didn't mind it until Ellie got a stupid girlfriend and your mind kept thinking about how she fucked her when your boyfriend was on top of you, trying to find his way to your inside. Your mind kept thinking about how well she could fuck you with a fake dick, probably better than your own boyfriend.
And you were tired of your own mind because well, you just knew Ellie saw you as her best friend and you should do the same, you had a boyfriend, why your heart wanted to run next to the freckled girl? why deep in your mind you felt you only started date Andrew as an attempt to stop looking at Ellie's lips when she spoke, to stop staring at her freckles longer than a normal friend would do. To stop your heart from racing as fast as a bird's one when she sang love songs looking directly at your eyes, feeling hers drowning in your soul and her essence crawling into your heart, invading it like a plague.
Your boyfriend hummed, stare lost at the back of the room, "it's just that... i feel something's wrong," he turned his head to look directly at you, "like you're not feeling us anymore," his words echoed in your brain, taking you by surprise, you knew Andrew avoided serious themes just like a kid. He had the bad habit of acting deaf towards problems, hiding them under the bed hoping they're gonna resolve by themselves.
You're not feeling us anymore, did you felt you both at some point? or were you just lying to yourself from the start?
"I've been tryin' to ignore it but i can't keep playing dumb," his voice started to escalate, sounding more desperate with every word he was saying, "where your heart truly lies? is it with me?"
"Andrew," you sighed, "what are you trying to-"
"Or with her?" his words kicked directly to your heart, your voice suddenly stuck at your throat, completely tangled around it making you unable to answer and incapable of lying to him and to you once again.
If like your lack of words and silence gave him the answer he nodded, getting up and sighing. Fixed his hair with his right hand as he roamed through his room, first looking for his clothes and dressing up with some basketball shorts and a white tee. For you, you just were frozen there, sitting with your legs crossed at the end of the king sized bed, your mind running as your prefrontal cortex screamed to you for unconsciously follow the insular and your feelings, telling you how dumb you are but... you couldn't help it.
"I like you but i'm not keep acting like i'm blind," he stood up in front of you, towering you, "i think is for the best to take a break until you find out how you really feel," he handed you your clothes and your hand grabbed them as you finally had the courage to face him, "i'm gonna let you change," he avoided your stare, walking towards the door and leaving you alone with yourself and your guilt.
You wish you felt bad, you wanted to feel something at least something minimum. Whatever it was, whether it was rage, sadness, loneliness, something, but you didn't, absolutely nothing. Well, there was something: relief, and that feeling just incremented the guilt in your heart, your almost perfect boyfriend basically broke up with you?
The boyfriend everyone adored but you.
You reached for your jeans, pulling out your phone from one of the back pockets, unlocking it, 1:00 𝐀𝐌. Not late enough yet.
⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀els 💌
can u pick me up?
please ellie, hurry up
⠀⠀⠀
???
thought u were spending the night w ur lil bf
⠀⠀⠀
just come pls
⠀⠀⠀
is everything okay? im at a party at jesses place so gimme 15 mins
⠀⠀⠀
You chuckled at how ironic it was that the first person you talked to after Andrew's words was the apple of discord between you two, but you didn't do it with intention, she was your best friend, the closest friend you had. Your safe place.
Without wasting time you dressed up and made sure you had everything in your bag, wanting to avoid having to go back to his place at least for tonight.
The buzz in the back of your black jeans making you instinctively pulling it out, hoping it was the auburn haired girl who texted you, when you turned on your phone the first notification that popped out was a 'im at the corner' from Ellie, as an answer you just left her in read, hurrying up to grab your bag and throwing it at your back, heading towards the door of the room. Your body stopped for a second at the frame of the wooden door, analyzing what you would say once you step out of your now ex boyfriend's room.
Just say goodbye and go you breathed, collecting yourself before opening the door, encountering the small living room and kitchen and Andrew sitting at the end of the white sofa, his eyes directly facing you once he realizes your presence.
"I'm leaving," your voice obviously awkward just like your words and your thumb pointing the front door at your left.
"Oh, someone's picking you?" you just nodded, preferring avoid more confrontation by bringing up Ellie was the one waiting for you outside his block.
And after some more awkward exchange of words and stares you left his apartment finally, making you sigh, liberating the air you were containing in your lungs.
'take ur time, dw, i almost got stopped by the police bc i thought something serious happened🙄 just that' Ellie texted again, chuckling at her message you opened the glass door of the pretty expensive block of apartments, looking for your best friend's black car. Her distinctive shitty -which she always denied- car finally entering on your sight.
You make your way to it, opening first the door of the backseat to throw your bag and at the end entering the passenger seat, being welcomed and hugged by the soft smell of weed mixed with Ellie's cologne, a familiar smell that made you feel blanketed and safe.
"Hi," you softly mumbled, kinda escaping her obvious stare.
"Hi?" Ellie repeated you, feeling in her voice how one of her eyebrow was lifted "just hi?"
"What you mean?" as you rested your head in the window of the car you could felt Ellie's body leaning closer to yours, driving your heart to the palm of your hand.
"You tell me," her minty breath skimming your ear and cheek, " since 'm not the one who called at fucking 1 am," her hand reaching your chin, fingertips caressing the edges of your jaw. Abruptly her fingers clenched around it, shivers traveling through your whole spine as your heart started to pound loudly. So loud you were scared Ellie could hear it and if she did, she didn't give a shit about it. The delicious strength she had on your jaw incremented, not to the point it hurted but to force you to look back at her, herr emerald gaze contemplating your face, scrutinizing your features just like she was searching a hint of what happened.
Ellie's scent was making hard to keep your mind focused on her eyes and not in the strands of hair lost in the front of her face or how her mouth was softly opened, the oxygen entering to her body through it instead of her nose. And, oh God, her nose, sparkled with some freckles that travelled from her right cheek to the left one, making it seems like a small constellation was drawn all over her face, one that expanded softly to her shoulders and chest covered with a white wife beater and a sage green flannel with the sleeves rolled up, her sleeve tattoo in sight to curious eyes like yours.
"You really drive me crazy," Ellie purred with a smirk on her lips, her warm breath hitting your face. Actions like that, like whispering next to your lips or examining your face and figure with a grin, made your stomach tangle in knots and your head dizzy, "you always expect me to run under your skirt when you call my name," her voice getting lower as her grip on your chin started to soft.
Fingers leaving it to roam to your neck, stopping their way in a reddish mark Andrew left there, Ellie's eyebrows furrowing slightly at the thought of his mouth touching you, "and i always do, so you have a point," her body getting away from yours and leaving you almost cold by the absent of her touch, she readjusted herself in the pilot sit and she just lied there, resting her head in her palm, looking at you with her corners of her mouth upturned like she was waiting for you to say something back, like she didn't leave you breathless and intoxicated in her.
"So..." you turned to the front, evading her stare again.
"So are you goin' to tell me what happened or what, because i know you didn't call me because little mister perfect was being the best boyfriend," she chuckled a bit, glancing at her phone screen, "not like he was either way tho."
You tilted your head, curious at what she could meant with that sentence, Ellie brushed it off shrugging her shoulders and whispering a whatever you barely heard. Her hands reaching the car's key, the motor of it making a loud sound.
"Andrew broke up with me," you spoke fastly, almost without spaces between words. Ellie froze, the grip in the wheel softening as her eyes looked at you with open eyes in surprise.
"Andrew?" incredulously repeated, "Andrew Andrew? Like... the tall guy who's basically a himbo? Your boyfriend?"
"Oh my god, yes, Ellie, Andrew, my now ex-boyfriend... and he's not a himbo," eyebrows quirked as you spoke, your arm playfully hitting her shoulder making her chuckle and lick her bottom lip.
"Can't blame me, i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't know where the clit is... actually, does he?" a big smirk on her mouth and eyes now centered to get out of the place she was parked to drive you home, or honestly drive you wherever you want. Ellie would deny it every time, but you had her how you wanted, you asked and she delivered. That made her feel like a loser lesbian but maybe she was for you.
You couldn't say something back because you weren't sure if he knew, he should know, he's all grown up and fucked more girls than you can count with your hands' fingers. But you weren't sure because Andrew never gave you head -because he said he didn't like it- or even fingered you, he was just into fucking you with his dick.
Ellie's smirk transformed into a sweet smile when she glanced at you for a moment when you kept your mouth shut, one of her hands leaving the wheel to rest it on your thigh, her thumb rubbing it with endearment as the rest of her hand got lost in the inner of your thigh, your mind starting to get dizzy once again.
"I'm just fuckin' with ya, want to talk about what happened, babe?" Ellie had the bad habit of using pet names when she was trying to be sweet and understanding, completely clueless at how 'pretty', 'babe', 'angel' coming from her mouth made your heart -and core- feel.
"It's just... i don't know," you scratched your head, Ellie's gaze on you again.
"What about you start telling me what happened because sorry, but mister perfect was really down bad for you," her eyes rolled at her final words. Ellie never said she hated Andrew, she didn't love him either and she made it obvious with her sarcastic jokes and faked gags whenever he was around you with his arms around your waist or hips but you never thought she hated him, just more that she found him annoying just like she found almost every guy except Jesse and Joel.
"He said i wasn't sure of my feelings for him," your eyes trailing to the front, trying to ignore her hand caressing your clothed thigh or how she examined you with her eyes every now and then, trying to disguise the fact she was the whole reason why you weren't sure of your feelings from your ex boyfriend.
"And you are?"
"I think i've never been sure of my feelings for him," your hands starting to get sweaty from your fear of talking to much and say things you shouldn't.
Ellie hummed, "and why you dated him? He was handsome and shit but dude didn't have much else-"
"Because i liked someone else... and she would never give a shit about me in that way so i guess i thought dating a popular pretty guy would change my feelings, i guess it didn't" your voice interrupted Ellie's, you weren't sure of what you wanted to reach driving the conversation to this topic, maybe just free your chest from this heavy feeling you had been hiding for almost the start of your friendship with Ellie.
No, you couldn't make yourself speak more, you couldn't drop a 'i liked you and i still like you, Ellie' from your mouth.
"You never know, maybe you should try to make a move," Ellie tried to sound lighthearted but she could swore her heart skipped a few beats at your words. Her mind starting roam through her thoughts: what if it's me. There's no fucking way it's me. She just sees you as a friend, Ellie. Don't be delusional, it's probably another girl.
"Maybe," a giggle escaped your lips, just if she knew you were talking about her, "let's not talk about my ex boyfriend more, distract my mind, miss Ellie Williams," your voice sounding playful and your brows wiggling. Ellie was a tease but you could be more and drove Ellie crazy, most of the times making her hard to play it cool.
"Sorry, i don't fuck with girls who just got out of relationships," her green orbs looking directly at you, taking advantage of the stop, "and i don't fuck them either," eyes again locked at the road, the car accelerating at green and your heart about to combust at her words, you hated how easily she would drop shit like that, like it was nothing.
"Whatever, your loss," you rolled your eyes as Ellie's brows quirked at your phrase without looking at your direction, an entertained smile drew all over her lips, "where are we goin'?"
"You choose, Miss Daisy, i can drive you home or we can get something to eat and chit chat in a empty parking lot until the sun rises. Personally 'm starving."
"Something's even open?" your choice already settled without the need of more words.
Ellie's proposal wasn't something you were a stranger of, actually, you couldn't count how many times you both ended up in deserted parking lots with junk food and just the company of each other, specially if one of you was down or just after some party. Feeling like a whole eternity since the last time happened and not because of Ellie's fault but yours, you never distanced from your best friend, you just marked some... distance to try to get your mind off of her but there you were once again, your heart in the palm of your hand and your eyes trailing back and forth from her slim figure.
"There has to be."
A shared precooked meal and joint with Ellie felt like it was what you needed so everything felt right again. Your mind hazy, more than you expected to be when the auburn haired girl offered it to you, probably because you were the one who smoked the most, Ellie almost rejecting every time you handed her the burned paper, maybe she wasn't the most responsible but she was conscious she had to drive you and herself back home.
"I'm gonna have to pay for it?" your chin pointed to the cigarette butt resting in the small, handmade ashtray she had in the car.
Ellie side eyed, first looking at you and later where your chin was pointing. A cheeky grin portrayed on her face, "do you? maybe i would consider a pretty girl discount," her voice cocky, she was playing with you like she always did, "of course you don't have to pay, i offered it to you."
"You're such a loser for the pretty girl discount anyway," your shoulders shrugged, your friend's eyebrows knitted making an expression of the fuck you mean with that which you ignored, "kinda offensive you just hinted you wouldn't do a pretty girl discount for me."
It was kinda funny for her you said she was a loser for the pretty girl discount because until not long ago she kinda was, not like she invited every girl she dealed to but her pretty girl discounts were more of a you're really pretty to pay for my weed instead of a i would fuck you so you don't need to pay, so she stopped when she realized some girls misinterpreted her actions and also because even though you were really pretty to pay for her weed she would also fuck you. Of course she wouldn't say that out loud.
"You're so dramatic, god," her words making you lift one of the corners of your mouth but you didn't answer, enjoying the few cars passing by and the soft night light of the city that was mixed with the yellowish streetlights and the cold light of the moon and stars, her raspy voice breaking the silence, "i guess we're both single again.... aaaand we're arriving too."
You hummed to her last words, your mind more centered about the 'we're both single' part. You totally forgot for a moment Ellie and Cat broke up not long ago as well, you didn't know the exact reasons since when you asked she just said it wasn't really working, that Cat was nice and shit but she wasn't really what Ellie wanted and her words really caught you by surprise. As her best friend you knew Ellie was more of a quality time and gifts type of girl, but when you hangout with them and some more friends a few times them both didn't know how to keep their hands to themselves. Fingers locked, sweet cheek kisses, whispers at each other's ear with giggles Intercalated and fast lovely stares from Ellie's side that sometimes traveled to you but she quickly looked away when your eyes interlocked with jewel like eyes, so of course it caught you by surprise when she told Cat wasn't what she wanted.
"I guess so," you spoke with your eyes glued go the streets outside the car's window, the small block of apartments you lived in entering in your sight and almost every parking space occupied, which made Ellie pant, there was nothing she hated most than searching for a place to park. In the middle of the night. At fucking 3 am, "looks like your ex moved on pretty quick tho."
It was true, even though you were never close to Cat you both had a gentle relationship of acquaintances so it was no weird you followed each other on Instagram, making it impossible to not see the story she posted last night. Cat's waist wrapped by some cute masc's arm, the face of the unknown girl rested in her shoulder as the asian showed to the camera some shot she was taking at a party with blinking neon lights that could make you go blind and some cute love song usually related to the wlw community, the story basically screaming there was something going on between Cat and that other girl.
The freckled girl next to you couldn't help but chuckle at your words, your commentary catching her by surprise as she devised a free spot where she could park.
"Yeah... it's whatever, so have i," she brushed it off, more concentrated on parking -since she was a really careful driver- than how your eyes were blazing at the sight of her.
Of how her hands had a tight grip of the wheel, or how she bites her bottom lip in frustration when she was trying to get the car in the right angle. Your pupils started to roam to sinful places, or at least places you shouldn't be looking like her thighs hugged by her skinny jeans or wondering what she could hide being her pants and her top, even asking yourself if she ever wore a strap outside of the room, completely ecstatic at the thought of her hiding a plastic cock behind those really tight jeans. Your were knees getting weak and your fists clenching as an attempt to calm whatever Ellie was waking up by just... existing?
And of course you couldn't keep your mouth shut, you didn't know how to, more when you were high.
"Proof?" the words slipping your lips faster than your brain had the time to analyze them, the reflex of slapping your hand to your mouth almost automatic but it was too late, Ellie already heard you and if only you could hear her heart beating fast and her mind in panic all the fear that soaked your body would disappear in an instant. Ellie's eyes widened, her chill and playful facade falling apart for a few seconds which she quickly recovered hoping you didn't realize her moment of weakness.
With a dangerous smirk Ellie turned to look at you, her slightly dilated pupils looking up and down at you, "proof?" her voice cooed, her body inclinated to your direction, you gave her an opportunity and she was gonna take it without doubt, "proof would ruin our friendship," her face close to your own more than ever, her right hand leaving the wheel to touch your chin just like she did hours before but this time it was different. Her touch was edging sinful, intoxicating, the growing tension making you swallow with difficult as your thighs pressed together, and she noticed it, she finally catch up the effect she had on you and your body; she always knew she did something to you but never really stopped to think about it until that moment.
Her mind running through all the possibilities able to happen, how your body gave her the hint she could take you to the backseat and eat your heated cunt in that moment, just the thought making her own pussy wet and needy, almost impossible for her to contain the action of cup it over her jeans.
"And we don't want our friendship ruined, right, pretty?" her voice so sweet, so sugar coated, the pads of her fingers leaving your chin once again, just like before. It's not what she wanted, she wanted to eat you in every way possible, thinking about how good her lips would feel against your glossy ones, she was craving for you like you were but she didn't want it to happen that way.
She was scared. She didn't know if you could regret once the heated was gone, if you maybe just wanted Andrew out of your head, she didn't want her heart broke and she wanted you completely conscious and right on your mind. Fuck, behind her cocky smile and confident eyes she was shitting her pants.
But you wouldn't let it go like that.
"Wait!" your hand reaching and grabbing her wrist, "what do you mean?" a flirtatious smile on your lips without you realizing.
You were really making the game difficult to Ellie, if you continued acting like that she was gonna throw everything away and just do it, just surrender to her lustful feelings. And she was about to do it.
"Are you playing dumb or do you want me to be straight forward?" she said in an undertone.
"I want you... to show it if you wanna make this a lil' more interesting," your head tilting slightly with a flirty manner. You made your mind, you won't retreat this time, you didn't know if it was your own confidence or the weed you consumed that gave you the strength to not be scared, or at least not terrified.
Despite the fact Ellie's heart was about to jump out of her chest she did a really good job hiding it with her slick grin growing bigger, sated at your curiosity, at your need and he was gonna reward it... kinda.
You saw her face suddenly getting closer to yours, one of her hands placing now in the side of your thigh almost on your hip, squeezing it, and the other resting in back of your seat, helping her to maintain balance. Her lips ghosting over your own, making you unconsciously close your eyes, awaiting for her chapped warm lips finally pressed against you.
The sight of you with eyes closed, looking almost like an angel, and your lips parted made Ellie even more aroused, you looked so pretty like that and it was something only her could see in that moment, only for her.
To your surprise your glossy lips never met the warm of Ellie's but your ear did, a low chuckle before she spoke slowly and patiently, with such a provocative tone, "if you're that desperate for proof i can show you tomorrow, sweet girl," her lips skimming your earlobe so close to kissing it, your only response was almost a whimper, you couldn't wait.
"But-"
"Tomorrow," her tone demanding this time, "now go, it's really late."
It was late and Ellie's cunt was so heated, her boxers a mess, that she needed you out of her car so she could take care of it just like you needed too.
⠀⠀⠀
Each other's fingers meeting your respective soaked cores, you thinking how full could Ellie make you feel and Ellie thinking how much she wanted to make you a mess of moans and whimper for her and her fingers, just the moon knowing your sinful actions.

LIKE A SAILOR
SUMMARY: to be loved, is to be known. inspo: sailor song by gigi perez
PAIRING: ellie williams x reader
WARNINGS: religious stuff!
A/N: please dont take this as any slander towards religion, simply related to a beautiful song and needed to write, also i wrote this at 2 am in an hour and dont care to check for any mistakes so please ignore any!

&19.
you’d whispered the number in her ear with a giggle, a face as if you’d been caught. it wasn't what she had expected to come out of your mouth in all honesty.
she smiled back as you erupted into a fit of laughter, intoxicated on life and liquor. it was warm and smooth and before either of you knew it, she fell into the noise with you, shocking her friends across the bar. she couldn’t help herself, from laughing or from feeling this way for a strange girl at the bar. you were a drug.

&20.
you’d only known each other a few months, but ellie felt the cliches. as if she’d known you her whole life. that she knew you were the one, even from the first glance. she didn’t understand it, or you.
so when you’d questioned her, all the breath left her lungs.
“what?”
you sighed and sat up away from her, a shaky breath falling from your lips before you asked again. “is this wrong? what we’re doing? what we are?”
you voice sounded new to her. raw in a way ellie had never experienced.
how could this be wrong? how could loving be wrong?
“why would you think that?” a gentle hand reached your upper back, careful, just in case.
you shook your head and kicked back the sheets before facing her. her freckles. her soft hair splayed out on the pillow. her chain that she wore religiously, once her mothers. you didn’t ever think this could be wrong but dread filled you to the brim and spilled out before you.
“i dont know, like to Him, you know?” ellie shook her head, obviously lost. your hands dragged down your face. “to God, ellie. is this wrong in His eyes?”
it clicked into a place, a missing piece in your unfinished puzzle that ellie was hoping to create.
she sighed and groaned as she sat up, pulling the smallest of smiles from you. a hand found yours, another your face. “i don’t know.” she answered honestly. “i never payed attention in church, truly. but, i do know a few things.” you nodded and listened faithfully. “i do know that He loves us all, sinners or not.

the thought had billowed through your mind for months, torturing you and keeping you from sleep. it’s just an apartment but it killed you.
killed you to be away from her so often. to have to drive 3.3 miles every night you missed her or vice versa. to not hold her as you slept. to not make breakfast together every morning.
“do you wanna move in together?”
you had interrupted ellie mid sentence and knocked her back into reality. you began to take back the question when she smiled. laughed.
your face dropped into a pout. “are you kidding me? i ask to move in and you laugh in my face?”
“oh my- baby no! no, im sorry. i just,” she sighed and dropped her silverware to the table. “i was gonna ask you that tonight. that’s why i made dinner and set this place up all pretty.”

soft summer day, clouds and birds and bickering.
“i’m gonna go stay with my mother for a few days.” you threw clothes from the closet into a bag as ellie watched from the door. “or longer, i don’t know.”
she laughed, “you can’t run away from all of your problems!” you ignored her and kept packing, taking whatever seemed essential. “you already know what she would say if you showed up there.”
you nodded and stopped, facing her for the first time. her eyes bore holes through your own. “yes, i do. that this is all my fault and it’s my consequence for being with a woman.” you shook your head at her. “and you know what… maybe she is right. maybe she always was.” you spat it out like poison.
“and you seriously believe that?” she stepped closer to you. you could see every detail of her. not just her skin and hair and eyes, but every emotion that filled her. the tension between her brows, the tears that welled in her eyes, her hands in fists shoved deep in her pockets. “that we aren’t right.”
silence.
music played from the living room.
a drop broke you. a tear down her cheek shattered the mirror you stood in front of, where you didn't see your own silhouette. “no. no of course not.” a watery smile and a soft laugh.
“thank god because i already bought this.”

a ring.
a promise.
a church with pews filled by your closest friends and family.
a kiss tasting of her.
tasting of the beer she had that night long ago. toothpaste before bed. coffee in the mornings. a cherry slushy the night she finally asked.
a slow dance.
a confession.

Devil fruits in the marines has always been handled a bit oddly. On paper, no low rank has a devil fruit. Because having a devil fruit tends to make even weak humans stronger, even if under highly specific circumstances. But you can’t just promote people because they ate something weird. They have to earn their position. This problem is handily solved by… ignoring the issue entirely.
Strong marines will, eventually, be promoted. So it stood to reason that strong marines with powerful abilities will be promoted even faster.
You were, however, of the opinion that there should be some sort of allowance made for marines that just can’t handle power without it going to their head.
Those people should scrub toilets until they learn at least a bare minimum amount of humility.
Why would you, of all people, have that opinion?
Because you got to watch, in real time, how quickly people given power without earning it lose their damn minds. It was, in fact, your own devil fruit’s power to ‘dial up’ other devil fruits. Just being near you had this effect. No, no one had any idea what your devil fruit was supposed to be called. Apparently, it was one of the few not in any encyclopedia on the subject, so you didn’t even know your own limits by proxy.
If you had the choice to go back in time you would never have eaten that weirdly flat yellow fruit. But you were stupid and hungry and here you were. Babysitting yet another ensign who simply could not handle having stronger powers with any grace.
Ensign Williams had a candle-candle fruit. Basically, a very weak version of the logia fruit flame-flame. His fire would always be weaker, smaller, and easier put out. Until you showed up, wherein he was capable of fairly impressive feats. In fact, it had been a full week and Williams went from being in awe of what he could now accomplish with you by his side to fully up his own ass with his ‘rightful power’. Unfortunately, he was your partner for the time being, so you just had to try and reign in his ass-ness before he burned the town to the ground by accident.
Mostly this involved walking away when he started being a prick to the local townsfolk to remind him that this ‘grand power’ he held was, in fact, only possible with your presence. Trying to physically stop him just got you a bloody nose. So, wounding his ego was the best you could do for everyone involved. Usually, you excused this by a sudden, burning need to pet a dog or cat or sufficiently friendly bird. They, at least, appreciated your presence and efforts.
“I’m going places, you know!” Williams declared in a huff, running up to you as you scratched a dog’s ears. Really ruffling the floppy appendages around as the dog panted and drooled in happiness. “The marines will see that I deserve a promotion soon enough with all the good work I’ve been doing!” You gave him a dry look.
“You depend on your devil fruit too much. What are you going to do when that’s not enough? I won’t always be around, you know.” You reminded him gently, feeding the mutt a milk bone from your pocket as you stood up. “This is the Grand Line. Eventually you’re going to run into a Yonko or something. What then? You think Red-Hair or Big Mom will care about a little fire?”
Williams paled at the suggestion, reality peaking in through his delusion before, with herculean effort, it was pushed back once again.
“And what about you, huh? Your devil fruit is useless for yourself! You’re a weak, useless thing on your own!” Williams sneered. You stared at him, unimpressed.
“That’s what training is for. Which is what I would be doing if I didn’t have to run around with you all the time.” You sighed. The big folks up top wanted to see just how much power you could give a weak devil fruit, likely in preparation to assign you to someone with a devil fruit user actually noteworthy. If there were side effects, they didn’t want an admiral to be the first to face it, after all. Personally, you were hoping for someone like Smoker. Reasonable, experienced, and well known for his skill outside his devil fruit.
Although, you were starting to think this delusional mindset was the side effect. Natural or induced, the people you gave boosts to often had a period of euphoria and increased aggression, narcissism, and short-sightedness. Hard to say since, so far, everyone you’ve been assigned to has been an asshole.
Possibly a marine-specific issue.
“Bring-ring. Ring-ring. Ring-rin—clack!” You answered the bored snail in your pocket.
“Ensign—”
“Fire Fist Ace has been spotted in your area! You and Ensign Williams are to attempt apprehension. No other Whitebeard Pirates have been spotted but be advised there are likely more—possibly another commander. If you see them, flee on sight.” They hung up immediately before you could even respond. Sighing, you looked up at Williams.
He looked strangely pale before gathering himself, a smug smirk quickly taking over his features.
“Hah! See that? They already know I’m going to accomplish great things. This will be only the beginning of my legacy as a marine!” Williams grabbed you arm and started running down the street, looking around like a madman for ‘Fire Fist’, jostling your glasses hard. They nearly flew off when he spotted a column of fire across town and yanked you with him. “Watch as a real marine works, useless!”
Fire Fist was crouched in the middle of the street, pointing at a stand that had fallen over, his back to the both of you. Whitebeard’s Jolly Roger stark against his tan skin.
“—highway robbery prices, you’re out of your mind if you think I’d pay for something broken!” Fire Fist huffed. While it was true you couldn’t see another pirate with him, it was common knowledge that Whitebeard Pirates rarely travelled alone. Especially a commander.
“You sure you wanna do this—”
“Halt, filthy pirate! Your days of piracy are over!” Williams declared boldly. Briefly, you wondered if maybe your superiors had heard about Williams’ behavior and figured sending him after Fire Fist would be the best reprimand he could get.
Even with your help, Williams was a candle-light at the end of the day. And Fire Fist? Fire Fist was a raging wildfire. You could almost feel the heat of his devil fruit in the back of your head. A faint indication that told you just how strong the devil fruits around you are and helped inform you how much power you were giving just by being around them.
Fire Fist looked back at the two of you with a dry, grumpy expression. Curiosity flickering over his features as he took in how amped up Williams was—and how utterly done you were. Fire flickered over his shoulders as he grinned.
“And what is a couple of ensigns going to do about it?” Fire Fist crowed with a mischievous grin, tipping his gaudy, orange cowboy hat back. Williams’ fire flickered over his body, sparks flying harmlessly over you—a welcome side effect of your devil fruit boosting another thankfully—before charging forward.
Three things happened at once.
Williams charged forward to fight Fire Fist. Letting go of your wrist.
His fire flickered slightly from the loss of direct contact with you.
Fire Fist’s own fire flared up at the sudden, unavoidable boost in power.
Confusion washed over Fire Fist as he instinctively noticed the strange change before he dismissed it, charging towards Williams anyway.
You rolled your eyes, pretty sure Williams would get knocked out quickly and leave you with yet another mess to clean up.
A low wine reached your ears, drawing you gaze away from what was mostly an impressive lightshow as Williams kept throwing fire at a man made of fire.
A fat, white dog panted in the shade. Scraggly white fur otherwise clean despite laying in the dirt. A strange, immaculate crescent shaped moustache curved under his nose.
Obviously, between your partner facing a Yonko Commander and a sad dog, your choice of who deserved your attention was clear.
You kneeled down with a smile, pulling out a dog treat from your pocket.
“Hey, cutie, what are you doing? Trying to cool off a little?” You spoke softly, presenting the treat to the very interested dog. You pulled out a bottle from your other pocket and a bowl—specifically for this actually—as you poured some out for the dog. The dog rolled onto his paws and eagerly drank the water, accepting your gentle affection. “You’re definitely not a stray, but you don’t have a collar either. Where are you from, baby?”
Fire and explosions rocked the area behind you. Not that you cared since the civilians ran the minute Williams and Fire Fist lit up. You scratched the surprisingly soft fur and ran your hand down the dog’s back. They were definitely well cared for, whoever they belonged to. Once they were done drinking water they eagerly wriggled into your lap for affection, licking and nipping at your chin.
“Oof! My, what a cutie you are!” You cheered, playfully ruffling the dog’s ears and booping his wet nose as you avoided the eager kisses.
Williams definitely screamed behind you in panic.
“Help me, you useless—SHIT!”
Without looking you yelled back.
“I thought you were supposed to be a ‘real marine’?” You lowered your voice when the dog whined and kissed his nose as an apology. “Sorry, baby. He’s just been an ass all week and I think he could really learn something today. What could a ‘useless marine’ do anyway, hm? I told him he needs to watch it.” You grumbled softly. The pull of a third devil fruit registering to your senses suddenly.
Having been around Williams all week as he showed off was exhausting. Now actively pulling on your power along with Fire Fist and this new person actively made you want to take a nap.
You had yet to figure out how to lessen your own power or at least focus on only one person, so you simply had to deal with it when actively boosting someone from a distance. Part of you worried that boosting stronger devil fruits was going to be even more exhausting than the weak ones you’ve encountered so far. And you might actually be right about that.
“There you are, Stefan. Oyaji was looking for you.” Someone spoke up above you. You startled, looking up at the stranger.
Open-toed sandals and capris with an open purple shirt exposing defined abs and a purple Whitebeard Jolly Roger. The man looked down at you with amused blue eyes narrowed, blond hair poking out from the top of an extreme undercut.
Marco ‘The Phoenix’.
Welp, that’s definitely your sign to run. Casually. So, he doesn’t suspect anything.
Something told you that your bosses would be pissed if the Whitebeard Pirates got a free power boost by ransoming you. If they gave up the obvious benefits of such a prisoner to begin with.
“Oop. Time to go, baby.” You kissed Stefan’s head and darted away, running directly towards the very explosive fight between Fire Fist and Williams. Snagging the back of his collar as you kept going.
“HEY! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, YOU USELESS—”
“The Phoenix and Fire Fist are here—we definitely can’t take them both in. Time to go!” You explained as you ran.
“No! I can do it! What do you know, you useless bitch?!” Williams flailed, breaking your grip on his shirt before slamming his fist into your face. Heat and a crunch of bones sent shockwaves of red and blood across your vision, sending you to the ground with a yelp. Your glasses bouncing off from impact and cracking.
“Fuck!” You hissed, clutching your nose as you blindly looked around, tears falling down your cheeks. You could make out an impressive explosion of fire somewhere ahead of you through your tears and poor vision. A wobbly white blob trotting up to your side with a low wine and bark. What was probably Stefan licking your arm and pawing at your side in worry.
Steady footsteps clacked along the paved street, a dark shadow falling before you as fire exploded behind the figure.
“That was quite a hit. You alright?” The Phoenix asked as he lowered down suddenly. Glass scrapped against the ground. Your glasses were gently lowered onto your face, bringing him into focus with a hairline fracture and tears obscuring your vision somewhat.
“’M fine—not the first time he’s done that--!” You gasped as his fingertips brushed over your knuckled grasp on your bloody nose. Blue fire exploded around you as the various aches and pains were swept away in an instant. Dizziness rushed to your head at the sudden relief.
You almost broke contact as The Phoenix cursed his sudden, uncontrollable fire, falling back to the ground. But his hands were faster and firmly grasped your shoulders.
After several, bizarrely euphoric moments of bathing in the healing flame, The Phoenix wrangled his powers back under control with a grimace. Blood still covered your hands and face but the injury, as well as any other injury, was gone. He looked at you in surprise and you could only gape up at him.
Having established physical contact, any boost others experienced was gone in an instant. Your ‘pseudo-immunity’ to devil fruits meant that your body essentially acted like it was your power as well. And that meant you got to enjoy a small taste in what it was like to have a devil fruit like The Phoenix’s for as long as he maintained that contact. It was weirdly heady. Sort of freeing to feel your weakness being eaten away under the healing influence of his devil fruit.
Almost to the point of forgetting that this, quite critically, meant that your under-powered partner was royally fucked.
Williams barely stood a chance if you had held his hand through the fight. Without any assistance against Fire Fist Ace, it wasn’t even a question. As much of an ass as he was, he didn’t deserve to be killed.
Worried, you tried to look around The Phoenix to see what was happening. He clicked his tongue, pulling your chin back to look at him. His eyes were narrowed and suspicious, a strange light in his eyes as he gave you a small, chilling smile.
“Now, who are you and what was that?” The Phoenix demanded. You shuddered, noticing how oddly quiet it was behind the pirate.
“M-My devil fruit! It—uhm—affects other devil fruits?” You lamely explained as Stefan tried to nose his way onto your lap. You would have preferred to look at the cute, needy dog, but The Phoenix looked like he was about to eat you. “Makes… makes them stronger around me. O-Or just… touching.”
A cold chill went up your spine as he grinned.
“And you’re not assigned to at least an admiral at all times? What a waste… I guess the marines don’t want to keep you that badly, do they?” He clicked his tongue again. “Well, you’re in good hands now, yoi. Let’s get you cleaned up. Stefan! Down!” He ordered, lifting you over his shoulder as you yelped, scrambling to hold onto your glasses. The town was wrecked behind The Phoenix, Fire Fist cheerily skipping up with Williams over his own shoulder.
“Hey, Marco! Did you see how weird that was!? What do you think his devil fruit is?” Fire Fist asked. The Phoenix turned around with a huff.
“Put the marine down. Got the source right here.” He responded.
“Oh! I take it we’re keeping them? Think Oyaji will mind?”
The Phoenix snorted.
“Oyaji will be ecstatic. Marines don’t know how to take care of people right, anyway.” You were jostled lightly as he started walking, Stefan trotting behind while panting happily up at you. You were horrified and nervous, but the addition of Stefan was helping ease your nerves. “They can boost devil fruits but wasn’t assigned to an admiral, can you believe that? Just a weakling. Imagine if it was someone else that found them, yoi?” You struggled to push yourself up, but was aware that you weren’t getting down unless The Phoenix let you.
Unlike Williams, you knew your limits.
“Hah! Wow. At least Gramps could have trained them up safely. Marines are stupid though, so I can’t say I’m too surprised.” Fire fist declared. Boots stomped on the ground as Fire Fist rounded The Phoenix, poking his head to look at you with a charming grin. “Don’t worry, you’re going to love it here! Ah… and no one will do this again.” Fire Fist grabbed your hands, inspecting the blood and what was still smeared around your nose. His eyes dark with promise as you stared in horror.
Were you being kidnapped for your power or… something else? Because to be honest, it sure didn’t sound like they were too interested in your own devil fruit ability.

The Viper & The Bird
Inspired by Jude's recent spotlight gacha. WC: 1,621 SFW, Dancing, Jude POV, Reader POV, Yearning, Angst, Open Ended Jude Jazza x Reader (Reader is referred to as princess once.) Pronouns: You, they, their Dividers: @/natimiles
Thin lips sealed over the end of an almost dead cigarette butt, long fingers grasped the rail of the stone balcony, and amethyst eyes listlessly gaze up at the face of the starry night sky. The fine fabric of his noble clothing felt uncomfortable, making his skin bristle as it rubbed against him. Even though they were necessary for the infiltration mission he was assigned, he hated the idea of even remotely resembling the nobility. His slicked back hair was applauded loudly by Victor, and even William and Elbert gave their approval saying that he “cleaned up” well, but what really made him grit his teeth in irritation was you. The way your eyes widened at his manicured appearance, it was clear that you preferred this version of him.
Instinctively, Jude reached up to ruffle his hair free from its’ polished restraints, but stopped just short of it when he reminded himself that he needed to at least maintain this prim appearance until he left the ball hosted by the noble he was investigating. Smoke loomed in the air and blended with the fragrant roses that climbed the mansion walls as if they were striving to reach for the moon themselves. The music from the orchestra sailed outside from the creaking of the balcony door that was being opened, letting the glowing light from the chandeliers leak out onto the cold shadowy stone.
“Tch. Thought I sent ya back to the castle early princess.”
He looked so distant, like a cold star’s light that was dying out, he was someone who would never let you into his heart willingly, but whatever it was that was rotting away inside of him, if you could ease it just a little, then the constant struggle you faced to gain his approval and to draw closer to him would be worth it. But that was just a presumptuous thought, wasn’t it?
“Jude.”
Strolling out to meet him under the silver veil of moonlight, you ignored the ache from the blisters that plagued your feet, and stood next to him. He looked handsome, dignified, and confident, at least at first glance, but deep down you knew how awkward he was feeling. Playing the role of a nobleman must sicken him, and the fact that he couldn’t lash out at you in his usual snarky way when he learned about your blisters, that must’ve stressed him out too. Jude confidently marches to his own tune, and fulfills any assignment given to him, but tonight was a struggle.
“The hell. Go back to the castle.”
He escorted you back to Crown’s carriage because you could barely walk without putting most of your weight on him, and if he let you stay by his side you’d risk hurting yourself even more. So, in order to avoid the nuisance of owing you a favor to make up for your injured feet, he sent you back. That’s all it was. That’s all it was going to be. You’re just a liability, and an idiot for exerting yourself all for the sake of trying to blend in with a bunch of uppity toffs who sat on their riches as they watched others in sink in suffering.
“I rested for a bit in the carriage, I’m fine now.” You lied because you didn’t want to leave him.
As the carriage started to take it’s leave, the emptiness of the large cabin sent an aching chill in your heart, like it was crying out for Jude’s warmth, and even though you knew it’s something he’d never share with you, you couldn’t help but have the carriage take you back to him. Leaving him behind and being left behind by him wasn’t something you wanted. Your heart clenched as you yearned for him. He was dangerous and cold, but he was also kind in his own way, just like tonight. He’d say it was because you were a liability, but really it was because he was protecting you, and it was that kindness that dripped into your system like venom, paralyzing you.
Reaching out to him you feather out his brushed back locks, his hair once again messy and free. There, that’s better. A small smile graced your lips as he glowered at you. That’s the Jude I know.
“Oi, whatta ya doin’?” he grabbed your wrist tightly and pulled you to the front of his gaze. A summery flutter tickled your body as your eyes met each other. Silence followed as you searched for the right words to explain, but he let you go with an exasperated sigh, and reached to fix his hair. This time you grabbed his wrist, “Don’t!”
“Hah?”
He watched you slightly lick your lips with your pink tongue, as you choked up the words that were caught in your throat from just a moment ago. Seeing you struggle to answer him he thought, damn that’s cute. The beams of light shining from the heavens above touched your skin, making you glow like moon dust, a beauty that was trying to thrive in darkness.
“It’s better this way. I….prefer you being you, Jude….no matter where we are or what we’re doing.”
Predatory eyes narrowed on you, glowing with ferocity, as if contemplating how to strike it’s prey when you realized you were still holding onto his wrist. Dropping it abruptly, you apologized to him and took a step back. He tossed his now dead cigarette over the edge of the balcony, and grabbed you by the waist pulling your body tightly against his, his long fingers snaked lower and lower down your waistline; the sudden jolt forced you to clutch his firm chest, there was no escaping this vindictive man now.
“Ya came back. Why?”
“I didn’t…..want to go back home without…….” it was embarrassing to admit, but there was no was way you were getting away without answering him, but you still hesitated. Impatient to hear your reply, he tilts your chin up from your now downcast gaze, “Ain’t waitin’ all night.”
“I didn’t want to go back home without you……without dancing with you at least once.”
Like a pure white feather dropping onto the surface of a calm, black lake that was his heart, the pureness of your answer rippled waves inside of him. He thought you’d say something diligent about not wanting to abandon your duties as Fairytale Keeper, or wanting to do your best since you’re always squawking on and on about it. However, your innocent words punched the air from his lungs, and when his grip should’ve loosed on you, he constricted it even tighter, like a serpent locking you in place.
Your eyes reflected your desire to dance with him even though your cheeks betrayed your embarrassment with a sweet blush. The wind carried a rather dark, romantic melody from within the mansion up to the climbing roses, as if it was kissing them awake, only for them to gently weep their petals down upon you both. Like they were mourning the inevitable outcome of the sinister and the benevolent duo.
His face scowled at you, “That’s why ya pushed yourself to learn dancin’?!”
“Yes.” Your resolute answer pierced him.
His brow furrowed even more, just what were you thinking by harming yourself like that, for the sake of someone like him? Pressing against his chest you broke free from his grip, and the fact that he let you go so easily stung your chest and your pride, but stifling those feelings down with a solemn expression you except the pain. As I thought, my efforts were my own presumption. Deciding it’d be awkward and problematic if your feelings became entangled any further, you decided to take your leave.
“Well, goodnight.”
As Jude watched you walk away he thought that you were like a bird yearning to live with a viper, searching for a way be with someone other than their kind, only to end up dead in the end. Idiot. He didn’t want to let anything develop between you both, he didn’t want you to be stained by him, he didn’t want you to accept him or be poisoned by him, but if you were so willing to bleed for him, to search him out, accept him, and willingly give up your freedom of flight only to be kept in his coils, then maybe there is some merit in this stupidity -no - more like this craziness. It was mad that you both ever be together or mean something to the other. Tch, this’ll be a pain in the ass.
“Oi, ain’t goin’ no where are ya.”
A strong grip pulls you back, and twirls your body up to his as you breathlessly catch yourself again his arms.
“What are you doing?”
A villainous grin flashes on his face as he starts twirling you both across the balcony, matching the pace of the violin’s somber piece. Struggling to keep up with him due to his sudden attack he mockingly laughs at you and says,“Punishin’ ya.”
“Brazen ‘nough to wound yourself without my permission. Toldja didn’t I? I’d be punishin’ ya for it.”
Holding onto each other as you danced under the canopy of night, gliding in and out of silver and black shadows, you both wondered if descending into madness was so bad? The blurred area of where light and darkness meet, the aftermath of the collision, where would the both of you land at the end of the night? What was certain was this, something was set into motion that night, and neither the viper nor the bird would be able to turn back now.

After Stormbreaker: Little Bird, Problem Children
Of Fin and Feathers AU: In the aftermath of the incident with the Grey Knight, more bonds are formed. Rhitta and Addax are ready to cause problems, but Mara and Broug says "no".
Author's Note: Rhitta is the name of Escanor's giant axe from the Seven Deadly Sins anime. I thought it was fitting. :)

It’s been a night since the wounded mers were brought to the gannet colony’s temporary roost to be stabilized and worked on by healers and apothecaries. Mara frowned. All this damage just from a single Grey Knight. The gannet elder rubbed the bridge of her nose to release some tension and stress. With Lana intensely bonded to this Grey Knight, it added a new complexity to this whole situation. It didn’t help that Lana got badly wounded in the process as well.
Though it seems like the ones who took the brunt of the injuries were the mers who were chaos-aligned. She wondered if they were specifically targeted. Luckily, they were surprisingly not-too-difficult patients. For the most part. It did help that they were on bedrest and that both Osteron and Zariel, and the Alpha Legion brothers were there. Especially to deal with some of the more restless patients.
Her colony avoided the area where the mers were, being wary of the strange mers that arrived in their temporary roost. Only a select group of healer harpies and their assistants were assigned to assist the apothecaries and care for the injured.
Mara walked around the healing ward checking in with her harpies and the patients. She passed by one area, hearing the restless World Eater mer loudly argue with the Iron Warrior captain.
“We should pay blood for blood! Our battle will be legendary!”
“Let’s get that asshole!” A young voice popped up. That’s Rhitta. Oh no.
“Don’t be daft! You are not going to fight the Grey Knight, Addax! Y’barely survived the last fight with him.”
“The little one agrees with me! He’s a threat—”
Ignoring the World Eater, the captain fixed Rhitta a dour, pointed look, “Child, don’t cause problems. It’s only out of courtesy to Addax that you’re staying here.”
Mara decided to step in before the situation got out of hand, “I have to agree with Captain Broug, I cannot allow you to fight with the Grey Knight.”
The chaos Iron Warrior mer shot her a relieved look and straightened his posture, reassured to have Mara’s support in agreement.
Mara glared at the young harpy and scolded her, “Rhitta, before you get all bloodthirsty and vengeful on Claude and Jophiel’s behalf, remember that Lana’s life is tied with the Grey Knight’s. If he dies, she does as well.”
“Oh.” Rhitta’s feathers deflated at the reminder.
The elder harpy was annoyed, she had no need to deal with more issues right now, let alone have another merAstartes fight on her claws, “Do not encourage more conflict unless you want your privilege to assist the healers here taken away.”
“She’s not leaving.” Addax growled loudly, scarred chest and tattered fins puffed out in a challenge.
Broug tensed, ready to act should the Addax start going under the influence of his Nails. He had struck a somewhat strange friendship, no, more like a camaraderie with the World Eater, as both of them had fought together against loyalist forces and other warbands back in their time. Though both of them nearly ended each other when they met again in Ancient Terra with Addax having lost control due to the nails.
Broug was generally indifferent towards the gannet harpies, he was however not interested in facing the wrath of the Alpha Legion brothers, Erriox and his scoutlings, and possibly the Grey Knight, should Lady Mara get injured.
“Addax.” He said in a warning tone.
The World Eater sat up, ignoring the complaints from his healing wounds, his large stature protectively blocking Rhitta from Mara’s view, “No, the little bird is not leaving. My nails have been quiet since she arrived. I can think… clearly right now.” he said.
“Nails?” Mara asked, looking at Broug in question.
The Iron Warrior Mer sighed; he did notice that Addax was less… reactive and less aggressive than usual ever since that little harpy came into their space. That was the reason why he even allowed her to stay. “Most World Eater mers from my time, like Addax here, have technology called the ‘Butcher’s Nails’ implanted in their brain. It increases their rage and aggression, making them more formidable on the battlefield.”
Mara heard what Broug left out of his explanation, putting two and two together between what both mers said. It seemed like these nails impair Addax’s other thought processes, which is concerning since aggression is the only thing that is left, making the World Eater a potential threat. Rhitta’s presence, however, took away or dampened the effect of the Butcher’s Nails in Addax’s head. That brought on another question, was Rhitta bonded to Addax? So far, the young one remained quiet, hidden behind the large World Eater mer.
“Rhitta, dear?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you feel a bond or magic connecting you to Addax?”
“I think so? Like he feels familiar? I feel safe and comfortable here even though he looks scary.” She became thoughtful and grinned, “but it’s also like I know he’s my partner and we’re gonna fight the world together and cause problems without fear!”
“Yes!” Addax matched her enthusiasm, feeling a surge of fierce pride towards the little harpy.
Both Mara and Broug replied with a resounding “NO”.
It was disconcerting how there was no familiar biting of the nails deeper into his mind after his outburst. Addax palpated the implants on his skull curiously. This confirmed his suspicions about Rhitta’s presence. For the first time in a long long time, he could feel emotions: pride and amusement; without the pain of the nails’ influence. And all due to this harpy child’s presence. How ridiculous. A rough chuckle emitted from his throat and grew into a laugh, cracked and rough unaccustomed to being able to do so loudly and not quite as long previously.
A small set of claws tapped on his arm, “Are you ok?” Rhitta asked worriedly.
“Yes. Yes, I am.” Addax replied, eyes crinkled as he felt relief and something he dared to think is akin to hope. He gently patted Rhitta’s head, marveling at the softness of her crest feathers. Such softness and yet there was no building rage, no compulsion to rip and tear her apart. Rhitta’s resulting giggles made him feel an odd warmth bloom in his chest. Perhaps this was what a bond should feel like or at least how he understood from what the bonded battle brothers had explained.
Mara’s expression softened as she watched the heartwarming interaction between Addax and Rhitta. She sighed, “Since Rhitta’s presence keeps away the nails’ effects from you, she is allowed to stay.” Rhitta was about to cheer when Mara continued sternly, “However, Addax, you are absolutely not allowed to fight ith the other mers, especially the Grey Knight. You should still be in bed rest while your injuries heal, not looking to pick fights with others.”
The World Eater mer was about to protest, but Broug’s immediate hiss of “shut it” silenced him.
“Rhitta, since Addax needs to heal, you are not to encourage that behavior. Is that understood?”
The young harpy gave a little dejected huff before replying, “Yes, Mara. I understand.”
“Good.” Satisfied by their response, the elder harpy turned to Broug, “Captain, would you mind keeping an eye on them? If you need assistance, the apothecaries and Zariel and his brothers are here to help. When Addax is better it will be worth testing how far Rhitta can go before the nails’ effect returns and we will need to discuss the logistics of how to make this work.”
“It’s not the first day, nor the last that I’ve minded that thick skull of his. It will likely be easier with his nails calmed. You have a point however, and I will keep that in mind.” the Iron Warrior mer chuckled.
Mara gave him a small smile, “My thanks, captain.”
“Of course.”

I really like your ~Cantin~ story with the dark Canada. It's my favorite! Can you write please what will be next when the reader wrestle the phone from him and trying to call Alfred for help. Maybe with a little bit yandere Alfred too. Thanx and sry for bad English!
Of course, let’s see what will come of this. And darling, your English is better than you probably think ;D
Yandere Canada - Sanctimonious
Your body simply moved of its own accord. Maybe it was the hope that hadn’t died already, maybe it was pettiness and you just wanted to see Willams suffer; either way, you found yourself lunging at the phone in his hand. Although surprised, your false lover managed to side step your attack and the unstopped momentum sent you sprawling in the snow to the side of the snow.
Spluttering, you spat out snow that you had nearly swallowed and shook your head to cast off the snow that had gotten caught in your hair and the outside of the scarf you were wearing. Sadly, some snow had slipped beneath your clothing - the uncomfortable cold was spreading across your neck and chest and your calves. However, you had bigger fish to fry - there was a phone you had to get your hands on.
Quickly you scrambled to your feet and lunged again, this time managed to get your hands on his arm and then his wrist. Fruitlessly, he tried to keep the phone to his ear but finally saw that he wouldn't be able to simply ignore you for much longer.
“A moment Al, gotta take care of something”, he quickly shouted in the speaker and then grasped your wrist. The phone was held high in the air and with him being taller than you there wasn’t really a chance of you grabbing it from him.
So you did the next best thing that came to mind - kicked him in the kneecap. You didn’t care which knee you had damaged, or how much damage you had inflicted. The only thing that mattered was that the hand went down and you could pry the phone from his grip. Turning around, you set off into a light jog and put the phone to your ear.
“Hello, hello! I need help, sir”, you hissed into the phone.
“Jeez, who are you kid, and why do you have Mattie’s phone?”, came an enthusiastic voice from the other end. American, judging by the accent. Matthew had told you he had a brother but this couldn’t possibly be him. What sense did it make to have a blood brother that was of another nationality? Difficult parents could be a reason but it would be unlikely.
“I was kidnapped by Matthew Williams and am being held against my will. He claims to love me, but it can’t be love since… since I’m just his captive and plaything that he uses as he pleases. Please, please sir, you have to help you”, you pleaded into the phone, tears welling up in your eyes.
There were a few moments of silence on the other end and hopefully it was because he was thinking of how he could rescue you. To your horror and confusion, however, the pause was ended by laughter.
“You must be the one that stole Mattie’s heart. Christ, I can see why he loves you - so polite and still feisty. I’m even tempted to steal you to have you all for myself, but don’t tell him that”, he remarked once he managed to calm down a bit.
“What the blazes do you mean? You have to…”
“Not so quick kiddo. I don’t have to do anything and since you’ve stopped being so nice, I sure am hell not gonna do that now. Not that I intended to do anything really before, but that is besides the point
“The point here is, that while Mattie and I have some fundamental differences, at the root we are cut from the same cloth. So sweetie, I can’t say that I would have done anything different than my bro. We talk, y’know, so I’m completely in the know of what is going on between you two love birds. Hell, he even asks me for advice on how to handle you.
“So let me give you a tip, for free ‘cuz it’s you: Just give in and it will be all smooth sailing. Don’t make it more difficult than it already is.”

Chapter 1.4 - Bad Dreams Are for the Birds
[POV: VLAD]
“You’re really not going to move any of your stuff in or sleep here?” William demands as he storms into the study room.
“And deprive you of the joy of having a room to yourself?”
“Don’t try to turn this shit back on me.”
Bemused, Vlad takes a sip of his coffee. He would prefer a mocha, but there’s no way he’s trekking over to the Commons. “You don’t even want to sleep here.”
“Yes, but that’s because graduate housing is…” William glances around the dorm, his disdain clear, "I’ve stayed in nicer hotels.”
“I see you’ve spent the morning with your family.”
“And what’s that supposed to mean?”
William knows what it means, just like he knows that Vlad prefers living at home and the bliss of not sharing a space with random sims who talk and breathe in ways that annoy him. He only sleeps in the dorm when he’s too drunk to get himself back to Henford-on-Bagley.
“Maybe I would like a little companionship,” William grumbles, “Maybe I want to spend time with my best friend while we enjoy our last year of freedom.”
“But then where would you bring your non-Christopher boyfriends?” Vlad smiles, “In fact, it's lunchtime. Shouldn’t Vaea be on his way here?”
“And what about you?” William snaps, ignoring the question. “There isn’t a single speck of free space in that entire compound you call a home, assuming you could find a sim willing to take the train to the countryside for a hook-up.”
Vlad doesn’t do hook-ups. He barely likes to be touched. Most of the time, masturbation suits him just fine. His ex was confused about this. Fuifui took great pride in being his first until he discovered that Vlad didn’t attach any morality to sex; he simply hated most sims so much he could never quiet his mind down.
“William, bringing my delightful brand of friendship to strangers is low on my priority list.”
“Well, this is our last year of law school, Vladislaus. You are supposed to be meeting strangers, living it up, having fun.”
Vlad wasn’t a hermit by any stretch of the definition. He let William drag him to any number of social activities. But it wasn’t his preference. He was better when he was alone.
“The Volkovs were wrong,” William continues, reading Vlad’s mind in a way that is only possible when you’ve been friends since the 5th grade. “You are fit for public consumption.”
Actually, Fuifui and his adopted family were far more specific than that. Their exact words were that Vlad lacked a conscience and a heart. The first part was accurate, but the second part?
The second part filled Vlad with an unending desire to flay open his chest and see if it was true.
“Quit being so difficult and put yourself out there,” William scolds, “You don’t need to study, so you might as well use your time for something.”
“I could plan your wedding,” Vlad quips as he returns the book he was reading to the shelf. Truthfully, he just wants to rile William up so he can secretly check his phone.
There’s no reason to admit it yet, but he is putting himself “out there.” Judging by the available profiles on Cupid’s Corner, though, it’s a wasted effort.
The app loves to tout its “secret algorithmic formula”—and yes, Vlad read the entire website. The urge to read every single detail on a topic is one he can’t often subdue. But clearly, the algorithm is broken. Every single sim on this app is insufferable except—
Vlad’s finger hovers over the message button. There are a million things wrong with this profile that should send him screaming—typos, misspellings, terrible grammar. But her username makes it seem like she’s daring him to bring up even one of her faults, and Watcher helps him; he likes it.
Her real name is Alice, and the title of her bio is “Nothing to see here folks!” Instead of describing her hobbies and university major, she just lists her top ten Tea and Treachery hot takes.
Vlad fires off a message and grins when he gets an immediate response.
“Are you even listening?” William cries. “I asked if you had nightmares.”
“I slept fine,” Vlad murmurs, focusing on crafting the perfect reply to Alice’s challenge.
Finally, he looks up from his phone to find William staring at him strangely.
“You know I don’t dream,” Vlad sighs. “Never have. Probably never will.”
(not for nothing but I love this dorm built by @bojanastarcevic and idc if makes my sims pay like $3000 a semester for tuition)

summary: the campfire causes a tension between you and abby. aquarium day causes you to be honest with how you feel about either girls.
pairing: ellie williams x fem!reader
word count: 3.7K
contains: mature language, joel supremacy, ellie being the cutest there is, reader again being so indecisive (last time i swear), more inaccurate portrayals of camps but this is MY story :)
a/n: school has been kicking my ass already. i cranked this out for you lovelies <3 i hope all of you enjoy!!!
under the summer starts masterlist
Approaching the circle of kids around the campfire, Jesse was hovering over a few kids to make sure they were a reasonable distance from the flames, Steve and Robin were messily hounding down an extra-large s’more concoction, Abby carefully helping a few kids with the placement of their marshmallows, Ellie strumming away at her guitar singing ‘Black Bird’ and Dina softly humming along with some of her kids was a sight to behold. You even spotted a bunch of the campers with smears of chocolate and melted marshmallows on their cheeks and chins.
You had told Joel that you were going to be taking a ‘nap’ so that he could watch over your kids for a bit. In reality, you had just wanted some secluded alone time with your phone; texting your anxious dads that you were in fact not dead. You had a comfortable thin sweater over your tank top, the neckline slightly hanging off of your shoulder. You made eye contact with a soft singing Ellie and her lips stretched into a small smile.
You couldn’t believe that you were even considering yearning for Ellie for another summer or letting yourself find comfort in Abby.
What snapped you out of it was Abby, waving you over to the space next to her on the log. You send her a small smile at the tall blonde, making your way over. Your tennis shoes crunch under the twigs and fallen leaves as you clasp your hands behind your back.
“Wow, you kept your promise.” You tease as you seat yourself next to her.
Abby chuckled and shrugged her shoulders. “I’m very trustworthy.”
“Well, now I know. I’m still holding you for helping me prank Ellie later.” You point a finger at her accusingly.
Abby held one of her fingers in front of her mouth as she glanced around at the campers.
“Don’t mention the ‘p’ word. We don’t want to have another ‘bubbles’ incident.” Abby lightly chuckled.
You wince as you know she was right. As far as you could tell, the campers weren’t even close to thinking about pulling a prank. Well, not close to pulling a prank on you which you could live with. If it was any of the boys, you could definitely live with that.
“Can I ask you something?” Abby whispers.
You try to ignore Ellie’s singing to tune into what Abby is about to say.
“Yeah, what’s up?” You grin kindly.
“I don’t want to make assumptions or read into anything but,” Abby sucked in a deep breath, scratching at the back of her neck. “Is there… anything at all going on between you and Ellie?”
You froze your itching at your sleeve, every muscle in your body becoming tighter.
“Not that I know of,” you joke, trying to recover from how tense you got.
Abby weakly chuckled. “Right, yeah. I don’t know. I just assumed if you guys really aren’t, can I take you somewhere when the kids leave for the weekend to get more clothes? You don’t have to but I don’t know. I feel like you’ve been… hitting on me?”
Was she really doing this right now? You don’t deny the flirting but why didn’t she ask you once you two were alone?
“Can I think about it?” You respond quickly.
Abby noticeably falters at your unsure response but attempts to her disappointment. You swore you saw a slight twitch in her eyebrow.
“Yeah, of course.”
Before you could formulate an apology, Ellie finished up Black Bird and looked around with a sheepish grin as everyone clapped and cheered. Robin and you snapped your fingers as if you were at a poetry slam, cheeky grins on your faces.
“Sing ‘Time In A Bottle’” Dina suggests, glancing over at you.
You agree as that song is so beautiful to you. Dina knew this as did everyone you ever had the opportunity to speak to. Ellie’s eyes, too, pointed at you. She shakes her head playfully as she clears her throat, adjusting the guitar strings a bit.
“Okay everybody, this is the last song of the night then it’s straight to bed.” Joel walked around the large circle, making sure every child heard his words.
There were a few whines of ‘no’ and ‘just a few more songs’ but the stubborn man put his foot down. Ellie told them all that she was going to be playing again in two nights so she’ll play more songs then. They all seemed to agree for the most part. You clasped your hands together, leaning forward on your elbows and resting them on your upper thighs. The nails of your thumbs brushed past your bottom lip as you listened to the soft strum of the acoustic.
Every lyric settled into your chest as Ellie repeatedly made sure your attention was on her. Her eyes were focused on you, only leaving yours for a few seconds at a time through the duration of the gentle song. It was clear that the tune had romantic undertones which had you more than overwhelmed at her intense eye contact. It didn’t help that Abby’s larger shoulder was pressing into your own, the contact not helping with your nerves.
Were they aware that there were kids around?
The night ended with a final strum of her guitar, blinking out of the trance her voice put you in. Everyone clapped and attempted for the second time to convince Joel to let them stay up a bit longer but he wouldn’t budge.
“No, no more whining ev’rybody. Time to hit the hay,” Joel shook his head and motioned for all the campers to stand up.
With shuffles of tennis shoes on the grass and dirt, you, too, stood up on your feet, wiping your sweaty palms on your shorts. You made your way over to Ellie carefully adjusting the strings of the guitar. She glanced up at you for a second, smiling small. You had missed Abby’s longing gaze before following her campers back to their cabin, too distracted by the auburn-haired girl to notice the blonde.
“Hey, did you like the song?” Ellie questioned knowingly.
“Eh, a little pitchy at some parts,” you jokingly critique.
“I never said I was a professional singer,” Ellie was quick to snap back, clearing her throat. “You, uh, excited for tomorrow?”
You nod as you had already forgotten that tomorrow the camp was going on a tour of an aquarium that was about an hour away from camp. You were a bit of a fanatic of the butterfly exhibit and Ellie knew this. She got a photo of you on the Polaroid every year beaming at the fluttering insects.
“I am, yeah.”
You knew you were beaming after your response, clasping your hands behind your back and practically bouncing on the soles of your feet.
“It’s very… fitting, you know?” Ellie added with a small grin on her face.
You furrow your brows at her words.
“What is?” You question.
“You loving the aquarium. It’s very princess-like of you,” Ellie added but she avoided your gaze, feeling ashamed to admit that.
“Wow. Princess-like?” You sarcastically quipped before Ellie started letting out a string of ‘neverminds’.
“Forget I even said anything,” Ellie rushed out, standing up from the log to grab the pail of water that the camp used to put out the fire.
You reached for her arm as she carefully poured the lake water over the logs, dampening them and watching the fire die down slowly. Now only a porch light from a cabin and the beautiful moon lit up your faces. Your fingers lightly grip onto her wrist to tug her towards you.
“I thought it was sweet.” You say seriously, hoping she wouldn’t refrain from cute compliments anymore.
Not to sound like a conceited bitch but you soared through the sky when you got compliments, especially from Ellie.
“Well, I can’t help the truth,” Ellie slyly states.
You pressed your lips into a thin line, watching Ellie kick up the dirt from underneath the grass. Ellie could be cocky, a little irritating but when she got like this, it made you feel like maybe your crush on her is reciprocated.
“You want to partner up tomorrow?” You offer, releasing her wrist and fiddling with your sleeves.
Ellie, finally, turned her neck to look you in your eyes, eyebrows shooting up. Joel usually randomly chose partners but you were going to ask him right after this if he could make an exception just this once.
“Yeah. I’d like that,” her smile widened ever so slightly, one of her hands grasping onto the strap of the guitar.
“Okay, cool,” you let out a smitten chuckle, rocking on your heels.
A couple of crickets chirped in the unseen of the grass, causing you to snap out of your weird behavior.
“I gotta go and put the guitar up in the arts cabin but I’ll see you first thing tomorrow, okay?” Ellie double-checked with you, grinning adorably.
“Bright and early, Els,” you confirmed.
Ellie gave you one last nod before trudging in the distance to the cabin. You let out a breath before practically sprinting off to the complete opposite side of the camp to the main office where Joel usually would be at this time of night, prepping for the next day. You run up the wooden steps to the front door, raising your fist to knock on the screen door.
You hear a muffled ‘come in’, pulling the screen the door open to open the beaten down wooden door. There Joel was sitting at a desk with a pair of thin glasses sitting on the bridge of his strong nose as he scribbled on sheets of paper. He looked up over the rim of the glasses, waiting for you to say something.
“Hi. I’m sorry to bother you right now but I have a question,” you cleared your throat, scratching at your arm.
“Is somethin’ wrong?” He questioned, setting his pencil down.
“No, um, everything is perfectly okay. I just have a favor to ask,” you awkwardly chuckled.
“Okay…” Joel sounded hesitant but urged you to just spit it out.
“If it's not too much trouble, could Ellie and I be paired up tomorrow for the aquarium?” You could feel your face heating up at how middle school this all felt.
Joel raised a brow at you before he picked his pencil back up and pointed the eraser end at where you were standing from across the table.
“Are you and Ellie datin’?”
Your eyes bugged out of your head before you shook your head slowly. What the hell?
“Really?” He pressed once more, seeming to not believe you.
“Yes, really,” you emphasized. Joel just stares at you without moving as you continue your explanation. “We just wanted to partner up and I was hoping you could make an exception. Do we seem like we’re together?”
At this point, Joel had his rough hands up in the air at your reaction to his question. You were, in your defense, becoming very defensive over the initial question.
“Alright, alright. I was just confused is all,” Joel shook his head.
“I just want to make it clear,” you add on before shutting your mouth.
“I know. I’ll… pair your groups up. No goofing around though.”
You nod to assure him even though you knew you and Ellie would be attached to the hip. You quietly thank him before leaving the cabin with one last ‘goodnight’ to Joel.
Hopping off of the suffocatingly humid bus, you took in the entrance of the aquarium with jittery excitement in your veins. You waited by the side of the bus for each of your campers to step down, holding a hand out for those who needed the support.
Once all of your friends and their campers got off the other buses, you had to round up your and Ellie’s group to get all of the all-day tour bracelets. It isn’t as packed as it was last summer but there was still a decent amount of families there to enjoy the experience of the aquatic life.
You wave sadly across the way to Robin and Steve who, to no surprise at all, were partnered up. Steve pretended to cry without your presence and you simply mouthed ‘dramatic’ before they disappeared into a different entrance to the aquarium.
“Okay everyone,” Ellie raised her voice. as she spoke to your mixed group of campers. “A few rules before we go in. One; please do not wander on your own. Two; if you need to use the bathroom, let either of us know and one of us will go with you to make sure you don’t get lost. Three; with the few cameras we were given, do not have the flash on because the animals are sensitive to them and we don’t want to hurt them, right?”
A string of ‘no Miss Ellie’ rang in the air which caused you to bite back a smile. Seeing her be such a natural leader made her weirdly more attractive to you.
“I didn’t think so. Let’s go inside everyone. Single file.”
Ellie’s own satisfied smile spread onto her face as she clapped her hands together before motioning everyone to follow the two of you. You nudged her with your shoulder with a small smile before standing back to walk behind the group to make sure no one wandered off.
As much as you wanted to be paired up, you sort of forgot how much time you weren’t going to spend with each other. It constantly left your mind that you were at a summer camp for children; not someplace to find a girlfriend.
It was interesting regardless of all of the facts about a variety of sea creatures. You felt like an impatient child wanting to get to the tour, fiddling with your camera. You watched as the kids all took turns using the camera to take photos of the stingrays before they fed them.
The excited gasps and squeals of the children made your heart grow tenfold as they dropped the food into the mouths of the stingrays.
“Guys, be careful, okay? Don’t put your hands all the way in, please.” You hurry out, anxiety flooding through your veins at how slightly careless they were being.
You didn’t want to have an incident like last summer when embarrassingly enough, you allowed a small boy to leave your eyeliner and he fell directly into the small pool. Thankfully, he wasn’t injured but his mother was not happy to hear this. You got screamed at by an angry mother when she was told by Joel about the accident. Of course, you took the blame but Steve had been your partner at the time and took the fall for you.
“Can I eat this?” A little girl with big hazel eyes asked you as she held up the stingray's food to you.
“Uh, no, sweetheart. That’s for the stingrays. It wouldn’t be tasty.” You shake your head.
The girl's smile falters as she glances at the food in her hand and then back up at you. She looked uneasy. It didn’t take long before it clicked in your head that she already had eaten a bit of it. You let out a soft sigh, bending down to her height.
“You already ate some, didn’t you?”
Ashamed, she slowly nods her head and avoids your gaze. You weren’t sure what would happen to her but you were assuming and hoping her body would reject it or she would just poop it out.
“Well, if you feel like you’re going to throw up or need to use the bathroom, let me or Miss Ellie know, okay?” You whisper to her, rubbing her back to ease her.
She nods one more time before walking back to the feeding area, giving the rest of the food to the awaiting animals. Ellie makes her way over to you, folding her arms and motioning to the sweet child.
“What happened?”
“She, uh, ate some of the stingray’s food.” You wince at your words.
Ellie’s eyebrows shoot up as she turns her head to stare at you with disbelief. She raises her palm over her mouth to hide her cheeky grin. You roll your eyes as you nudge her shoulder, quietly telling her to ‘shut up’. It had taken everything in you to not laugh initially when the poor girl had told you.
“You better hope we don’t have another insane mom on our hands when she finds out about this,” she teases with a soft grin.
“If you care about me, you’ll take the fall for me like Steve did last year,” you shrug your shoulders, keeping a good eye on the group.
There was a moment of silence that made you turn to Ellie. Her eyes were wide with admiration but she avoided your gaze like the plague when she realized that you were staring right back at her. A blooming fire rose to her pale freckled cheeks as she scratched behind her ear.
“I definitely care about you more than Steve does,” Ellie muttered angrily which caused you to giggle at her, leaning your head on her shoulder.
You were a fool not to notice her immediately tensing when you did so, side-eyeing the slope of your nose and the length of your lashes. Everything in you wanted to stand here forever, listening to the pattern of Ellie’s breathing.
“Is someone jealous?” You playfully tease.
Ellie scoffed before she confidently stated: “Yeah, I’m jealous of a guy who runs around in 3-inch inseam shorts and crop tops.”
“Hey, he’s bringing the 80’s fashion back and flawlessly.” You defend your friend.
Ellie paused for a moment before nodding slowly in agreement. As much as you did love Steve and who he is, you couldn’t even imagine being with him. Maybe if you were to get married when you both turned 40 and neither of you were with anyone but you were 99% sure he and Robin had already solidified that pact.
You could only imagine being with the freckled girl whose shoulder you're resting on. You have imagined it for the past three years. Quite vividly, you might add.
“C’mon. It’s time to move on to the smaller fishes,” Ellie leaned her head to yours, the skin of her cheek pressing up against your temple.
You hold back a disappointed sigh and lift your head from her clothed shoulder. After calling after the children one by one, name after name, everyone walked through a tunnel that was illuminated by a soft blue hue between the crevices of the dark walkway. The cylinder cases of fishes swimming freely amongst the probably fake coral and rocks.
You hear a few gasps as someone points out a clownfish and blue tang swimming amongst one another.
“It’s Marlin, Nemo, and Dory!” Beth exclaimed with a bright smile, pointing at the fish swimming above.
“They aren’t real. It’s from a movie,” Carter snarks, folding his pale arms across his chest.
Vanessa practically snapped her neck to give Carter a dirty look. “Umm, I see them right there.”
You pursed my lips to push back the laughter that was threatening to come out. Girlhood at its finest.
You, too, watched as they swam circles around one another, channeling their excitement for the fish. It didn’t take long before you heard a shutter come from next to you.
You side-eye the freckled girl and immediately tell her ‘no’.
“‘No’ what?” She questions as she is very openly holding up the film camera to you.
You hold back your eye roll before raising your brows at her: “‘No’ means ‘no photos’, Els.”
“But you look pretty,” was her only response back as she snapped another of you appearing rather smiley.
Who were you to blame for your cheeks hurting from the terrifying grin on your face? The girl you swore up and down that you were getting over.
“Just make sure you get my good side,” you give in embarrasingly easy.
“All of your sides are good. You’re the most annoyingly photogenic person I know,” Ellie teases, sounding pissed off but you knew the intent behind her words.
“It is really hard being perfect,” you sigh playfully.
“Yeah, yeah,” Ellie shook her head but didn’t stop with the photo-taking.
While you were having photos being taken non-stop, you thought about how exhilarating having Ellie praise you this way shamelessly. You also believed this was exactly why everyone thought the two of you were dating.
“Alright, enough. Your turn,” you reach for the camera but Ellie pulls back.
“Fuck no,” Ellie says quickly but covered her mouth to look at the children who were staring at the fish in awe.
“Fuck yes,” you repeat.
After a small struggle, you were able to pry the camera from Ellie’s hands to point the lens right at her blue-lit face. She immediately began to put her palms over the camera, pleading for you to not take the photos.
You couldn’t even understand why Ellie hated photos when she, too, was insanely photogenic.
“Let me take one. Please?” You aim the camera away from her face for a moment.
Ellie was clearly hesitant but the second she heard the ‘please’ come from your sweet lips, she knew she couldn’t say ‘no’ to you. She would do anything for that ‘please’.
“One.” She reaffirmed her statement, holding up her pointer finger.
“Just one. Maybe two,” you rushed out that last part of the sentence before aiming the lens at her.
Before Ellie could protest, you took a photo of the pretty freckled girl pointing at the fishes. Her jaw was tilted ever so slightly and her smile was small but she was a perfect vision. You needed this sight stamped permanently into your brain.
You knew you were telling Abby that you couldn’t go out with her. You were kidding yourself with Abby. She was more of a friend and you knew that now more than ever.
The only problem now was when the hell were you going to get the guts to tell her?

Underneath the Black Veil: Jude Jazza Ch.1
This is from Ikemen Villains EN, Cybird owns everything.
Victor: "Hey, Jude. What do you think about marriage?"
Jude: "Huh? Gettin' hitched?"
(Please, can't you discuss that topic without me?)
Some time had passed since I began working as Crown's Fairytale Keeper.
One day, I happened to run into Jude in the palace library.
He was clearly ignoring my presence, so I tried not to make eye contact with him while I chose a book.
But then Victor showed up and started asking Jude weird questions.
(I'll apologize to Victor later, but I'm going to make my exit now before I get into any trouble...)
I already knew well enough that Jude was a bit of a sadist.
I quietly began to sneak out of the library, hoping to escape before Victor brought me into it.
Victor: "That's right, marriage."
Jude: "Any lifetime contract that can't be canceled's foul."
Jude: "Ain't got a clue how anyone'd do somethin' like that willingly."
Victor: "Hm, I see!"
Victor: "Well, there's something I need to discuss with you, actually."
Victor: "I'm going to need you to marry Kate, Jude."
Jude: "Huh?!"
Kate: "M-me?!"
Victor: "Shh! This is a library, you two!"
According to Victor...
He and William had been investigating a religious cult called Amour, whose leader claimed he could bestow eternal love on his followers.
It was currently a hot topic here in London among couples.
However, according to rumors, around half of the followers never returned home.
Victor: "We suspect that someone in Amour is murdering the couples. William and I are 100% certain that this is an evil organization."
Victor: "However, the police are having a difficult time getting any evidence, as they're located on private property belonging to a noble."
Kate: "And that's where we come in."
Victor: "Precisely! So, I want you two to go there this weekend."
(I know I agreed to work with Crown, but isn't this asking a bit too much...?)
Victor: "Your mission is to capture the leader and take care of him so that no one else dies."
Victor: "Oh, and to avoid any suspicions, you'll have to act like you're an engaged couple that's madly in love."
Kate: "Engaged couple..."
The extra request he added on was so ridiculous I was left speechless.
Jude: "Yeah. I ain't doin' that. Gonna hafta get someone else to marry the bird."
Victor: "You know. I don't hate the fact that you always refuse the first time I ask you to do something. It's rather charming, actually."
Jude: "Ya wanna get buried?"
Victor: "I'd actually love to be the one who goes on the mission pretending to be Kate's beloved companion."
Victor: "But I'm asking you because Her Majesty nominated you for the job herself."
Victor: "She thought with your superior negotiation skills and various other talents, you can lure the leader out and dispose of him quickly."
Jude: "Sounds to me like Queenie's off her rocker."
Kate: "Wh-what an utterly disrespectful thing to say about the queen!"
Jude: "What, ya want in on this lunacy? Then quit your yappin'."
Victor: "I'll arrange everything. I'm counting on you!"
Victor gave me a cheerful wink and practically skipped out of the room, leaving me dumbfounded.
(Jude and I are going to have to go undercover together...)
It was an order from the queen herself, so there was no way I could say no.
But honestly, I was more frightened of the person standing next to me than of some murderous cult.
Jude: "Tch... Thought you'd cry or yell more. Disappointin'."
Kate: "What?"
Jude: "Maybe if ya put up more of a fuss, he woulda talked Queenie outta it."
Kate: "Hey, don't blame me for not saying no to an order!"
Jude: "Yappin' 'bout it now ain't gonna do nothin'. What a useless princess."
And so, a very difficult undercover investigation began.
==========
Follower: "Welcome to Amour!"
We stood in front of a church on the outskirts of London as one of the followers welcomed us in.
(I can't believe this is really happening...)
The whole way here, Jude just silently read through documents with a cigarette in his mouth.
We hadn't discussed how we would pretend to be an engaged couple at all...
(Seriously, what should we do?)
Follower: "First, we shall conduct a test to see if you two are truly in love."
Kate: "A test...?"
Follower: "Yes, it's quite simple. All you have to do is embrace and kiss."
Kate: "... What?"
(Embrace and... kiss? With JUDE?!)
I didn't even want to repeat that sentence in my mind, let alone actually do it.
Jude: "......"
Meanwhile, Jude didn't even raise an eyebrow.
Jude: "First off, lemme make somethin' real clear."
Jude: "I ain't gonna lay a finger on her till the ceremony."
(Huh?!)
Follower: "P-pardon me?"
Jude: "She likes bein' ignored. That's what gets her goin'. Real into it, this one."
(What?!)
Jude: "Ain't that right, princess?"
(I guess this is the story he's going with to avoid having to do anything physical?)
Jude: "Why're ya bein' so quiet for, huh? Oh, I get it. You're poutin' 'cause ya wanna get punished again."
Jude: "Sure love it when I'm mean to ya, huh."
Kate: "...Y-yes, I do."
(Wait, I didn't really mean to say yes to that.)
(But... if I don't go along with his story, the followers will get suspicious. I don't want to be the reason we fail the mission.)
When I nodded, Jude snorted with laughter.
Jude: "Nasty lil bird."
(You're the one who's nasty!!)
Jude: "Anyway, that's the story. Got it?"
Follower: "Um, well... I must say, this is the first time we've had a case like this..."
The followers were completely bewildered, but also intimidated by Jude's forceful attitude.
Jude: "Huh? Anyone can go 'round touchin' each other to try 'n prove their love."
Jude: "But this gal likes it when I bully her 'n I like exploitin' all that for her. So we're perfect for each other, yeah?"
Follower: "I-I see...?"
(He's actually convincing them...)
The followers looked confused, but quietly began consulting with each other.
They turned toward us, still looking mildly skeptical.
Follower: "We will allow you to enter, but will be keeping an eye on you for a while."
Follower: "While you're here, you must prove to us that you two are truly in love."
Follower: "And if you do so, our leader will grant you the honor of swearing eternal love to one another."

for ages now, i thought the William Blake aphorism "no bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings" was a two-pronged thing, a simultaneous pro-humanist and anti-technology message. "all human endeavor really IS your for the doing... so long as it is *you*, specifically, doing it (rather than being artificially enhanced via technology and such)," was the vibe i got
and i always found myself thinking of it when i'm pondering the general class of phenomena i *think* i've seen called "hyperobjects"... basically, the ways in which technology enhances human capabilities s.t. we create systems and objects that are vastly outside the ability for any human to actually comprehend
(e.g.: i've seen the argument that our legal code got vastly more wordy/complicated with the advent of word processing, because instead of having a human bottleneck that had to copy out all that fucking text, you can just... generate & copy & paste words around kinda endlessly, right? the law as hyperobject. and the printing press was disruptive in the same way, which of course Blake as a printmaker would've been keenly aware of, etc etc)
but i just reread The Marriage of Heaven and Hell for the first time in forever and it turns out that aphorism is from the "Proverbs of Hell" section, which sort of implies it's more intended to convey a "ignore ppl telling you to be modest/cautious, Do Your Fucking Thing and Achieve Greatness" vibe. lmao oops. (that whole section is, like, proverbs that are meant to be edgy/provocative/counterintuitive but still true, e.g. "the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom"...)
still tho. do you ever think about how BIG MAD Mr. William Blake would be about how modernity is going...
#i should read that blake bio that's been sitting on my bookshelf forever#no idea if anyone else gets anything out of this sort of warbling but here we are

So, after reading @pixlokita's brilliant comic series (which has nothing to do with this above image) and finding they'd played with a winged AU, I had to as well. I just, I had to. It was required. Having written and then trashed a story about winged people (technically bird mutants???) and one with a human with wings, I'd already developed a lot of lore about winged humans. I won't upload my sketch at gunpoint, but I used their character sheet as a reference. I hate drawing humans. Kill meeee this took days. And I forgot the tail! Just look at the pretty wings and oooh cool mask! Ignore the awfully drawn child! Anyhow~
Crying Child (AKA, youngest Afton child, known in the fandom as Evan) Would be European Robin-winged. (Like this or this) Robins are aggressive, and CC is anything but aggressive. However, genetically speaking, he would take after his father, William Afton, who is robin-winged. He's currently flightless, even though he should be learning how to fly at this age. However, his lack of confidence and the bullying from his older brother has made it very hard. He fears failing now more an ever as he's scared it would just give his brother more ammunition against him. Also, in the back of his shirt, you can see those little strips? Those are straps built into the shirt that can be buckled/unlatched and buckled/latched at will. It's the only way someone with wings would be able to put on a shirt. He still needs help from someone to latch it on for him. His mom used to do it, and then William. Then when he forgot, he and Elizabeth would help each other. With Elizabeth gone, he just tries his best. He's learned how to move them around and just press his back against the wall to get them mostly on right. Michael will sometimes tug on his shirt. But Mike's done that to other kids at school, for reasons I'll list below.
Elizabeth Afton (AKA, middle Afton child, Dad's favorite) Would be European Robin-winged, as said above. She would still be learning how to fly by the time she gets turned into ice cream by Baby. I imagine she's William's favorite by the way he literally gave her an animatronic and modeled one after her. (It ended up killing her, but that's another matter) She inherits her father's more aggressive nature and bullies her older brother. Being Dad's favorite, she can get whatever she wants. Michael being an angsty teen and her being a sweet angel, she can blame whatever she wants on him and he can't do anything about it. So he has to do what she wants or else. So Michael takes it out on...
Michael Afton (AKA, oldest Afton child, Mike Schmidt) Would be a cassowary-winged! It took me a second to come up with this one, but it made sense to me. Cassowaries are incredibly aggressive, flightless, and seriously dangerous birds. They're also terrific fathers and the mothers don't stick around. So Mikey takes after his mom and gets to be a cassowary-winged. Mom's gone (Whether she left or gets killed or both is up to the imagination), his wings are so small he can hide them under his shirt by hardly even trying, and on top of it all his little brother will learn how to fly at half his height and his sister rubs it in his face. His wings are dangerous as he has a dewclaw and the quills on what would have been the primary flight feathers are sturdy and sharp. He doesn't need long slits in his shirts and has actually torn the shoulder holes with his dewclaws/quills before. So, as a teen, he's spiteful and lashes out. He has a huge fluffy tail that gets in the way all the time. But when he grows up a little, he grows into that more "protect the children" aspect of a cassowary's nature. I did sketch him out fully, but I spent literal days on CC. Instead, I drew his mask with the intention of a pre-withered Foxy look and referencing FNaF 1's crooked-jawed Foxy. I also found through Nightmare Foxy that he does indeed have a pale muzzle. (Withered, Nightmare, Foxy bro)
