Since I kind of just got back into writing in the past couple of months, I don't have a lot of WIPs that I plan on actually doing something with. Most things I have planned are related to my Demon Slayer fic series Young Flames and Dying Coals (YFDC), because I have a few post-Lionheart fics in mind for that series. I'll list them as well as a couple ideas I have floating around!

*sigh* my alarm woke me up at 5.30 and i just turned it off and was like *hmm just a few moments* yk how it goes.. also i had this insanely scary dream of a masked murderer chasing me that ended with me getting stabbed in the back, but in a weird way i was sorta making the plot as i ran from the killer?? once i woke up, my first thought was *that was so scary i am def killing my character like that* (from my novel)

I kind of don’t know how I feel about Jack and Bitty being endgame? That’s my hot take. Like, idk if I want Jack or Bitty ending up with anyone else, but idk if I want them ending up with each other either???? Idk. Maybe it’s got something to do with Bitty’s inexperience in the dating scene.

let me preface this by saying: i GET what people see in zimbits. from the angle of the wholesome ending, sure, absolutely. let them be cute together if it sparks joy for you.

howEVER, i personally am a big fan of jack's angsty side. it's what drew me to the comic (it's even what made me want to see zimbits initially), and i am jack zimmermann's biggest fan for the sole reason that he is a mess of a person. the jack that intrigued me would be a HORRIBLE first boyfriend for bitty. because you are right, bitty's inexperience is a huge factor in this.

i read jack as being trapped in this perpetual cycle of isolation and over-attachment. he had his thing with kent, then isolated himself for many years, then came out of his shell at samwell and immediately grafted himself onto bitty's hip. at the same time, he also demands bitty to keep their relationship secret. bitty, who just came out to his teammates 1.5 years ago, comes from a conservative homophobic environment and has, as far as we're told in the comic, not had any great dating experiences while at samwell (which could be its own entire post, stay tuned ig)

as the biggest jack zimmermann fan under the sun, i am convinced that bitty -- yes bitty -- deserves better. i used to run a queer youth group in my area and there's a lot of young queer folks out there who come from conservative backgrounds and take YEARS to unlearn all the internalized bullshit, find out who they even are, and only then are really able to properly integrate themselves into their queer community. bitty, from what we see in the comics, never really goes through any of this process.

so getting together with the first closet case he can find (after having that guy yell at him for a year, then living for a year in fear of crushing on a straight guy) just kind of makes me feel bad for him. if we're taking what the comic gives us at face value, i don't think they're that good for each other.

i would LOVE to have seen the process of them figuring it out, then i probably would've been more on board with the ship, but the comic was never going to have the means to deal with all of this, so it just falls flat for me. personally. i see what the comic was getting at, it just didn't do it for me. it doesn't scoop me up, as we say in german. ("holt mich nicht ab")

as far as this being a hot take. *looks at my crowd of jack/kent mutuals* hmmmm, 7/10?

Yeah I think it’s likely, but I’m still quite stuck on deciding who’s most likely to feature.

Okay so following this event these are the only characters left with 4 lims: Toya (1 year ago), Honami (9 months ago), Saki (7 months ago), Kaito (5 months ago)

Also Emu but she’s pretty much confirmed to be the fes going off Leoni’s WL slot purposely being distanced from the summer fes banner (aka that’s a leoni fes)

It’s also been 11 months since An’s last lim

Also the Kaito should be for either MMJ or N25. If any vsinger appears on a lim banner it should be him

Let’s assume kaito is the 4th card on the 3.5 banner. Given that 2/4 of niigo have 6 lims already, and Mafuyu and Ena were on, the kaito will be for MMJ. That would mean Airi has to be rateup. She knows Akito, Saki, and An, so it’s not a stretch to put one or two of them, nor have an Akito event. She knows Toya too, and we know that the absolute maximum anyone’s gone without a lim is 15 months, so he should be getting one within the next 3 months. However I want to wait to see when we’re getting his event to judge this, because if he gets an event song announced today that immediately rules him out.

So maybe Akito/Airi/MMJ Kaito/4th character? Staff said on record about the 0.5 event that they made the reps meet because it’s the season of new beginnings irl, and they seem to have followed that in the 1.5 and 2.5 events. Akito meeting a member of Leo/need (Saki or Honami) isn’t out the question. But that’s also the same unit combo as last year. And Akito/Airi and Airi/Saki already know each other and have kizuna. You could do Honami instead of Saki ig. It's still VBSxL/n but it's the only thing I can think of which 1) doesn't involve niigo 2) doesn't involve wandasho and 3) doesn't involve Toya so. yeah.

Ragnarok: new brand!!!! Thanks to our sponsor @katebushconfidence we got our hands on this new french brand with a BEAUTIFUL logo and packaging design. Interestingly, the viking visual doesn't match the flavours AT ALL, as they're all very fruity and sweet. But what do I know about vikings, maybe they loved a good strawberry/kiwi combo. We tried 3 flavours that I will review for you immediately.

Strawberry kiwi: extremely sweet, not very carbonated, this is perfect for you if you want an energy drink that tastes like a diabolo grenadine. (Btw this review made me realize the Anglos don't have a word for diabolo grenadine. Disappointing as usual.) The kiwi is nowhere to be found. As for us, we found it too sweet... It's just not what we're looking for. 1.5/5 stars

Blueberry Blackcurrant: a tad less sweet, a tad more carbonated, this is starting to look better... But it's still not really hitting the spot for me. 2/5 stars

Yuzu Dragon fruit : Now we're talking!!! This one is fresh, sexy, and beautiful. I love the audacity in the flavor choice, I've never seen a yuzu energy drink before and I really enjoyed it!!! Unfortunately this was still way too sweet and not carbonated enough, the 2 curses of the energy drink sommelier. 3.5/5 stars

Hihi so I saw the coward/brave discourse and one anon said they thought Neil brave for staying and though I know that this entire discussion is on the topic on when/if someone can be brave in leaving/staying and i believe you added onto that with that Neil would’ve maybe been more reckless than brave and I somewhat agree with you but also not

The things is that in the end if Neil were a Raven and Kevin left I think Neil would have stayed for the same reasons Jean would never have left with Kevin in canon. Maybe not entirely the same reasons, I think the factor of his loyalty and dependance on Jean, who would have been his partner would also be important and I think that Neil, same as Jean has, would hold lingering loyalty to the ravens as a whole and would also know that him leaving would not be as easily accepted as Kevin’s was. He would know his place more.

Additionally, I think that Neil would never ever ever trust Wymack to take him in. Jean already was in mild (?) disbelief that Kevin truly thought Wymack would be different from Kenton and Jean’s father but add Nathan Wesninski to the equation and no way in hell will Neil ever have a crumb of trust in Wymack. Part of me even thinks that Neil would discourage Kevin to going he didn’t know Kevin would likely end up dead if he stayed with the Ravens (an entirely different Roman Empire that overlaps with this one and have some big influence on eo but that I’m not getting into)

I think that in the end, Raven Neil would not be reckless, nor brave, nor cowardly for not leaving with Kevin; I think that from his point of view after a life in the Nest he would not see escaping as a viable way of survival for himself, same as Jean did not see it that way

I think he’d be maybe a little bit more resistant to Riko/the Ravens than Jean was but truly not much. That is not reckless behaviour nor is it cowardice, nor is it bravery. It is a combination of his loyalty toward Jean (and the Ravens as much as he may hate them and you can’t change my minds on this one), his dependance upon Jean, his position to the Moriyamas as property and not a valuable pet to show off, and his inherent distrust of men old enough to be his father, which stems from not only his father but also in this case includes Kengo, Tetsuji and Jean’s dad. It is what he likely thinks of as survival, the same way Jean would/did.

Sorry for the long and messy rant but I wanted to add some thoughts on Neil as a Raven which is kind of a completely different can of worms from Kevin’s “cowardice” but whatever ig

okay so surprisingly i never read anything in this discourse before talking about neil’s would be actions if he’d been a raven all along and

1) i totally agree with you, i think that neil, had he always been a raven wouldn’t leave but not bc of recklessness, not because of bravery, nor because of cowardice (basically what you said lmao sorry)

1.5) just before i get to the next point, obv the reckless neil i was talking about before i’d the one we know in canon, so the one who NEVER became a raven, and it’s that personality i took into account when trying to analyzing the situation

anyway my bottom line is that this pov of the situation is soooooo so so interesting and it puts the characters and their personality in canon into perspective and i LOVE that so thank you!!!

About the military though ngl i used to think they had it all planned for long time nd all but after seeing their conversation in car where they said they didn't really met up much n all i was like okay maybe enlisting together was never in their head at that point so i was more curious to know how do you go from "we didn't meet/call eachother" on July 14th to applying for Buddy program at the end of Aug or start of sept like that's just 1.5 months difference. I mean if I'm not exactly much in touch with someone why would i make a plan to enlist with that person? I'm not saying by not meeting often jm and jk became awkward or strangers but all members have gone individually, RM- tae did their training together ig(correct me on this one) so jikook should also think of Enlisting individually right? like that's what's first would come to ur mind......Why would my mind go to something that k-pop idols haven't done before? like jikook are literally the first two idols to use companion system for their enlistmemt so how did that come to their mind?

Then i wonder about jk's comment of him wanting to join special force which is again very known thing to armys like that's what you'd expect from him so that ain't surprising but then why did he not go to special force? is it because of tattoes? cause ig some ppl can't go there if they have visible tattoes, but some says they can go to some units of specific force even with tattoes so which one is correct? I have seen ppl from special force with tattoes like jk's but their whole service was yrs long nd not just 1.5 yrs...so again what's the reason? Has jk talked with V about joining special force? Had him and V ever talked about joining special force together? Given tae is also in special force. I'm pretty sure tae got the idea of special force because of one of his wooga frnd cause he's also done special force.

Has someone suggested this to them? does this decision has something to do with mental health? taemin had faced some things in military because of which he was sent to social service mid service ig so was jm worrying about that? is it something that concerns jk's mental health? Was it because they wanted to be around eachother? Or was it because they thought rather than being alone in MS it's better to be with your frnd nd that way they could depend on e/o for emotional support. I wanna know how they came to that decision. See the decision was Mutual is given cause if not they simply wouldn't apply but I'd love to know the reason behind it.

I don’t want to to touch on everything you said, simply because I will talk for days and lose my train of thought.

However, I think the biggest points are the fact that as you said, it is interesting that two people who from their own mouths are saying they didn’t meet up nor call each other as often as they used to, decided to do a joint enlistment. Of course, JM and JK had known each other for a decade by the time they chose to enlist, so it’s very possible they did choose the buddy system before separating in 2023. It is possible they reconnected because they knew this was what they chose, and they didn’t want to go into it, if they got it, with much distance between them. There’s no way to know if they decided after Connecticut or before, because they’re not going to tell us why they drifted for a bit.

As for their enlistment overall, I too wonder what their motivation was. I said it think it’s because they simply do not like being apart, and I stand by that thought, but you are right in wondering what it might actually be.

They did not have to enlist together. None of the other members even went at the same time except Tae and Joon, and given how much closer Tae and JK seemed during 2023, you’d assume they would have chosen the buddy system, but they didn’t. Why? I don’t know. It’s possible Tae wanted to do something that he wouldn’t qualify for had he done BS, but I don’t think it’s a tattoos though, as I saw someone say JK would have still been eligible for special forces.

I don’t know the detail of it of course, but let’s say for arguments sake JK couldn’t enlist in certain divisions because of his tattoos, Jimin’s arms are clear. All his tattoos except his moons (which are easily covered) are small, so he wouldn’t have had the same limitations as Jungkook. Unless the rules prohibit wrist/finger tattoos. But again, his are so small, a long enough sleeve covers his wrist, and unless he’s constantly waving and giving high fives, I don’t see how those would be an issue.

So without digging too deep, just on the surface, it’s hard to conclude they used the buddy system for any reason other than, they wanted to ensure they were together if possible. Especially since their company has no say.

Is it possible they have more mental health things going on than we know? Absolutely, and that could easily be a factor, but we can’t just decide that and run with it. They’ve both said they’re grateful to have the other by their side during this time, and again, we know now that leading up to the application date and their enlistment in general, they made the choice to be with each other for multiple trips.

Meaning, dating or not, they knew what was coming down the line and chose 1) to travel together to reconnect after a bit of time apart, and 2) to at least try and get approved for joint service.

Therefore, I’m back to the only conclusion I’ve got, lol. Jimin and Jungkook didn’t want to be separated. Because you, me, and anyone else with common sense has pointed out, they didn’t need to use the buddy system to join at the same time. Nor was it a guarantee anyway, so calling it fan service or a business decision to ensure BTS all came back by 2025, is illogical. Because had they been denied, they would have had to enlist alone, no matter their state of mental health or what was paid to them by the company, you know?

The buddy system only works because they got it, so nothing else could have spurred it since it wasn’t a shoe-in. It was literally them playing the lottery, because they wanted to try and be together. Why? That’s the mystery, lol.

i want to make a new just straight up self insert sso oc thats as close to real me as i can manage but im also suffering from the horrors and the tired. but it would be fun to fill out sheets as myself and draw portraits of myself but like as a jorvegian.

i wonder where i should have grown up like whats sort of comparable to my irl? i feel like valedale/firgrove area might make sense, bc our family home is in the forest but in general my province is full of wide fields and forests (no mountains) and fields make me think of silverglade. we're also not super far from stockholm (its 1 hour bus ride thru fields and forest, from downtown, ig 1.5 hour from my home) so being not so far from jorvik city also makes sense. i like valedale more than firgrove, and my hometown has a river running thru it also, so mb thats what i should go with? it also feels right being close to dino valley since both in general sweden is cold + my family is from the far north, so my identity and life experience is mixed between this central countryside province + far north.

i was in countryside elementary school irl but in town for after that, so maybe i wouldve gone to junior high and highschool in either silverglade village (if we imagine its a bit bigger) or jorvik city? my town looks relatively a lot like aideens plaza imo so maybe it would be fun to imagine i went to school in that area.... (i say my town but like, i never lived in town. i lived in the forest to the countryside and now i live in an apartment by the same forest. but i still see the town as my town)

Let me tell you, listening to the last mmmh, let's say 3 hours of the burning bridge audiobook at 1.5/2x speed while doing the dishes was an Experience TM.

The splitting of the party was truly where my nerves started being harrowed ngl, don't split up, is a rule that should be applied outside of the horror genre, imo, for my own health. Maybe it's cause of me reading asoiaf recently, but I hate the instances where shit is happening to characters in 2 different locations far apart, and they're both working on slightly different information and footing without easy communication cause that's how we get Tragedy.

Gilan riding like hell and demanding he go back for Will, Evelyn/Casandra and Horace made me lowkey sad, ilhsm, character of all time he's hilarious. His training of Will and Horace is very much giving me Star Wars jedi lineage vibes to me. Also, the scene where he dead ass shoots up like a Looney Toon character to bolt and inform everyone that Cassandra is, in fact, alive, had me gagged with giggles. Okay, thanks for nothing mourning wise, ig.

Speaking of Evelyn, I was vibing with her, secret and all, until it was revealed, she was the Princess of the Realm. Like, don't get me wrong, I still like her, but idk, man, it stuck as a little mmmh fixed? Like I get for plot, obvi the hostage situation had to work. Ppl needed a good reason to go after Will, its to raise the stakes cause what if they found out blah blah blah. Yea, I'm sure she probably got burnt out by modeling, and maybe started to not really enjoy it anymore? 🤷🏾‍♀️ That profession seems STRESSFUL, and heavily looks-based. Acting can be that way as well, but at least I don't think people freak out if you gain 1.5 lbs or something lol. Kaia also probably realized that she didn't want to always have to continue to live in her mom's shadow for the REST of her life in her career.
