The Instagram reality
Few weeks ago we had our yearly advertising shooting at my company. It‘s the same procedure as every year, a lot shootings with good looking femal and male models. This year we had for the first time a new (relatively unknown) model agency, because our CEO wants a new look with new faces for our products. After we we’re done, it‘s a tradition that the whole teams goes out together for dinner.
I don't know if everyone is aware that in addition to normal characteristics such as height, weight, hair color, etc., the number of Instagram followers is now also an important feature on the model's set card.
I got talking to one of the new models who had recently switched from one of the big agencies to this new one. She was relatively unknown, one face among many, with just under 8,000 IG followers. Until she made the "mistake" of falling in love with a celebrity actor. Her agency was delighted at how this relationship could be used to increase her market value. Her partner had been relatively reserved about his private life until then, but after his agent was also taken with the idea, he agreed to post more "private" photos with his girlfriend.
In the beginning, the posts were limited to pictures of joint appearances at events. The number of her followers slowly rose from 8,000 to 20,000 within a few months. Then she was advised to post more private things. Gradually, she posted more photos from vacations, home, family celebrations, etc., always on her account, while the actor still only showed pictures from public appearances together.
As a result, the number of her followers rose significantly to over 100,000 within a very short time. Unfortunately, the majority of them were his fans. Then it happened what always happens.
The posts about her work as model faded more and more into the background and everyone was only interested in her relationship. Her family, friends and even work partners were almost overrun by his fans and not alway in a friendly way. Her requests for photo shoots became fewer and fewer. Her agency was told that they didn't want to work with a model who had no independence and was only defined by her partner, especially as his fans didn't correspond to the target group of most companies.
The pressure from her agency became more and more, which also affected her relationship, which finally failed. After the relationship ended, the number of her followers dropped significantly. When her bookings stopped and her agency told her to look for another job, she decided for a new start at another agency.
This is just one of many examples of why even "private" posts on IG always have a business background, whether it's vacation pictures from Caribbean islands, trips to celebrity ski races, snapshots of private excursions in which the car is also pictured, etc.
PRIVATE does not exist on social media, even if many would like to believe it does. Fans are only being sold a fantasy that they want to see!

Coping with rising costs and crowded markets is a challenge for the whole industry.
The concert part of the music industry in the post-Covid era is characterised by the expansion of live performance. The long-suppressed desire to tour, to perform in front of audiences in as many countries as possible, is only this year being fully realised.
We took a look at how European touring is going in the new inflation-driven reality. This was one of the themes of the conference part of this year's Ment¹. The European concert market is facing many challenges, such as the rising costs of touring, organising concerts and festivals, increasing musician fees and, as a consequence, more and more expensive tickets. There is also the question of how to manage the concentration and congestion of concert venues and balancing the availability of the most sought-after artists. An additional problem is finding opportunities for new performers in such a competitive environment.
¹Ment is a showcase festival and music conference that happens every year in Ljubljana.
We also enquired about the European tours of Slovenian performers, two groups that have a different style and a different audience, Joker Out and Širom².

Joker Out recently returned from a European Tour. As Kris Guštin told us, it was organised by “a booking agent from the Wasserman agency and our manager. The booking agent arranges the concerts, the conditions, and the dates, and then the manager comes up with all the logistics, that is, he arranges the transport, the accommodation, puts together a team and everything that needs to be done.” He says that tours have always been a big financial investment for performers. “Especially for performers of our size, who have only just started breaking into the European market, where the ticket sales often don’t make up for the costs of transit, accommodation, and the salaries of the performers and the team. The inflation over the past few years is of course making that even harder, but the musical market has slowly adapted to that with higher ticket prices.”
Joker Out had 19 concerts in 18 cities in 12 countries this year, and they have three more coming up in Great Britain. The ticket price for each concert is determined based on the size of the venue, how in-demand the artist is, the local standard, and the overall concert-going culture in a certain place.
Joker Out are very happy with how many people came to their concerts. “The turnout differed across Europe. In the countries we’re strong in, like Finland and the Netherlands, we played for crowds from 1500 to 2000 people, and for countries we haven't played in a lot yet, like Germany and France, we performed for 500 to 1000 people. The venues were always nicely filled and the audience was excited.”
We asked Guštin what they base the length of the tour on. “The length of the tour is based on demand, territory strategy, and how busy the performer is. In our case, we decided for a month-long tour, in which we covered a lot of countries that we couldn’t do last year,” he added.

but what he did? Immediately reunited three original legendary GMMTV BL couples on the stage (KristSingto, OffGun and TayNew), invited his best friends and both of his on-screen boyfriends (one of whom isn't even in the agency anymore)
while giving opportunity for Gawin to keep performing together because GMM didn't give them new BL or other musical duet promo as they repeatedly both said they wanted.
And all those people and famous respected BL actors were absolutely happy to be on the same stage with him or come to support him, as well as queer friends and especially queer fans. Seriously, it's like half of the industry came to watch Krist's concert, they even made GMMTV CEO dance and vibe!:D
while he himself was absolutely gleeful and happy surrounded by them and even cried few times from overwhelming feelings
That old stupid unfounded rumor of him being homophobic that's been retold in infinite amount of clickbait tweets and tiktok videos out of context simply must cease to exist because if you refuse to listen, see and learn... I have nothing to say. I'll just show.

Sam is not the messiah, he is a man with clay feet and a never ending case of foot in mouth.
Please stop with the excuses in DM defending, excusing an intelligent 43 year old man who is his own worst enemy.
First up I haven’t mentioned Caitriona because she is living the 2023 version of Greta Garbo.
She is silent on international relations du jour, thankfully. Has she learnt from being burnt previously, I doubt it. She just has zero interest in maintaining a SM presence.
I’m sure she has a private IG account where she shares her feelings on the dire state the 🌍 is currently facing. She is a woman with opinions and a social conscience. I would even go out on a limb and suggest this has been a period in which she settled into uninterrupted day to day motherhood. Post partum following L’s birth and the never ending Belfast promo had her ragged and exhausted. All that travel and living in different places with a babe would have not been easy. An enforced hiatus was a silver lining.
Caitriona has always shown she not a slave to socials unlike Sam.
I don’t believe he is subservient to his PR team. Maybe in the beginning but not now. He has agency and he can absolutely say no to strategies. The print media he appears in is a result of the fact that Sam is still decidedly C-list. He hasn’t been able to make it in FTHTSI (Financial Times), he hasn’t been able to get an interview the in NYT Saturday magazine ( even though he is a holder of a number one book cachet).
Same can be said for Condé Nast Traveller. No interest in a Brit actor with an alcohol side business to share his favorite place in 🏴 and the rest of the 🌍. To share his travel essentials, whether travelling for pleasure or for business. Sam and his agency just can’t attract that market. The readers, subscribers of these publications are not aware of him from film and television roles and SS is a niche market. Because his brand is a mess.
Sam is unable to be nuanced in interviews anymore. He used to be more erudite, but not anymore.
It’s all over the place. One minute wanting to be seen as more than a shirtless thirst trap actor on IG. But then constantly reverting to form, and then chastising those who question the thirst traps, they are now referred to as holiday photos 🙄.
Then there’s the endless addendum to puerile promo of MIK and Clanlands with GMcT. It’s sooo stale and they, he knows it. That promo relies on a sexualised element for Sam. What’s under my kilt? Remember I was commando on top of a mountain?
Gen Z don’t know or care about a relatively unknown 43 year old on a series that is always keeping the audience waiting and waiting. There is so much streaming choice. New viewers and casuals just loose interest. His OL haitus filler MIK is niche and ridiculously puerile. Old fashioned slapstick, it’s just for rusted on fans.
With a week to go for TCND to hit screens it will be interesting to see the direction of his socials and the accompanying press. Will it be rinse and repeat.
Sam can do better than this. I just don’t think he wants to.

In order to get support from agencies or studios you have to be able to gain your own following on social media. This is also why she’s obsessed with buying. There will be no endorsement deals or much else without hitting the magic number of followers and engagement. It’s the same reason he won’t just delete his ig. He only has fading popularity to stand on and he needs the endorsements.
If she isn’t auditioning well creating a fan base is her only option and it hasn’t been working. Her only semi known roles are in PT and she doesn’t seem interested in growing in that market so UTA doesn’t have much reason to continue to push for her. Pride and entitlement ruin “entertainers” like her daily.
This is also why every few weeks certain blogs hype her up with rumors. She’s looking at her lack of traffic and needs more. You know why she could get Miu Miu after NYE? Because everyone was constantly following/checking her instagram. Sorry sweetie, nobody cares now.

As someone who works in marketing, the promo campaign using 🐟 as the face for Amelia was almost too obvious it felt more like the ending to a scooby doo mystery (anyone whose seen those cartoons will know).
I personally would have advised them to use Brigette instead especially since they were hoping this little indie horror would somehow get surprise sleeper results in the US. Brigette has proven they would have done the work to help promote it in the US and at least bring some life to the film.
Fish worked harder to promote her ski trip than she did for this “big” movie backed by a huge American talent agency (lol CAA…are you regretting it yet).
Normally, I wouldn’t give actors so much gripe for posting one or two about a film they’re in especially if they’re not in it for that long. But this has been Fish’s pattern for over two years. Maybe longer - I don’t know how much she did to promote herself before her newfound “fame”.
But minus WN, this was probably the most marketing promo she’s ever gotten in terms of being put as the face. At least, that’s what i see. Mrs Harris obviously wasn’t about her at all but I think Amelia put too much credit into her ability to draw (aka zero) and personally, I’d love to see what their reactions are now behind closed doors.
To be fair, it’s a PT indie horror. I doubt anyone really thought it would become a sleeper hit but I do think they hoped it would draw in some more zealous new fans of hers or maybe CE’s fans. But he would have had to first reblog the trailer a few times on his own IG. But you know, he doesn’t even follow her so…
I agree, I think that's the reason why they chose her face for the movie posters. They thought they could get more attention. Well they backed the wrong horse

Dear Goldy - Not - Goldy, I didn't want to disturb you, but you are probably the only person whose opinion I would like to know about JK's TIK TOK account. When Jung Kook deleted his IG account, I was shocked, I admit. I thought: this man is wonderfully unpredictable, uncompromising.
I enthusiastically told my friend about it, leaving out all the context, just the fact that a BTS guy deleted an account that had over 40 million followers. A friend who works in marketing immediately said "they must have told him". Literally: agency. I was outraged. After some time, information appeared in SM that the head of tik tok invites JK to tik tok. I was hoping it was just a joke. and yet not. Shouldn't we consider it likely that the JK's rebel image is a marketing ploy? And that someone taught from a teenager to follow the expectations of others will do it, because the rebellion gene would be nipped in the bud?
"They must have told him- to delete his IG you mean?
Jeon Jungkook was told to delete his Instagram and he did??? Scratching my head on that really. By that i disagree with that assertion. Why would they ask him to delete his IG and not ask the members to delete theirs too?
So he can promote tiktok instead is that it??? Or that's not what you implying with the whole he went to see tiktok big brains part??? If that's the argument, then I recall Instagram messaging him too asking him if he needed assistance restoring his account🤷🏾
He's a huge brand and these platforms want him that's for facts. I wager they'd want to pay hefty commissions to him to keep him on there- but the fact that this was his burner account and not his official account kinda means he sneaked under company and tiktok noses.
He probably doesn't want the attention. His eye 👁 pfp reminds me of my header- it also reminds me of his eye tattoo. Weird.
It's not at all surprising he has a secret tiktok account. We've always said they are among us on secret accounts, engaging with us, seeing, reading and hearing everything. They did it with Twitter, IG, YT, Tiktok, Tumblr- wherever there's army there's BTS. They are watching.
So I wouldn't want to read too much into this or treat it as some conspiracy theory out there- but that's me. I could be wrong so to each their own.
But really what does the company stand to gain from him deleting his IG and losing all that followers. Some people have 1m followers and do you know how much money that translates into for them????
Platforms like IG is often negotiated as part of their brand deals. Brands are not only paying you to use your face and image to promote their Brands, they pay these celebs EXTRA cash to post branded content on their personal platforms.
Jungkook is the only member who hasn't monetized his platform. He is on tiktok yes, but it isn't monetized. I think he enjoys his freedom too much. He deleted ig because he said there was no point in having it if he couldn't do whatever he wanted with it- if I recall correctly. And he said he has no intentions of going back there. He keeps saying that in spite of the financial opportunities that exist on there for him- and remember this is the same dude who risked lawsuits to promote his brother's brand. You'd think a platform such as IG would come in handy if he wants to help himself and others as well.
His rebellious image as a marketing ploy- at this point I squint in confusion. A ploy means its fake and not at all real. Well, it's a marketing ploy if the year is 2009 and Jungkook can't see past Namjoon's thick thighs to stay in the group lol.
Personally I think his "rebellious image" if we should call it that, is not at act. He is in fact strong willed and assertive. The rebelliousness it stems from a lot of things- Namjoon mentioned he went through a teenage rebellious phase which i think is very much normal. Sometimes he becomes rebellious if his values conflict with others. Eg if hybe and the brands' policies conflicts with his personal values. It's not all an act, or persona or marketing- it's him unable to conform his values unto theirs and reconcile those. He has said this over and over. Remember how he said he went with Calvin Klein because their values matched his? They probably aren't breathing down his neck and threatening to cut ties with him if he breaks his family friendly image or gets involved in a scandal. These companies can be so brutal.
He is not a sell out. He stays true to himself always and he's being driven by a strong inner sense of self and a strong moral compass.
He would go with the company's plans and strategies if he thinks it suits him or if he wants to do it. If he don't then he won't- no one can mke him do what he don't like. It's that simple.
the only way he would do something he doesn't want to do is if it's for love i'd assume or if he were contractually obligated to do so.
There's also a recurring theme with him which is that HE IS A FREE BIRD can't cage him, won't tame him, he does and will do whatever he damn pleases. That makes him come off as rebellious. It's what we mean when we say he's Jeon Jungkook. Kinda admire him on that score
Could this persona have been carved for him in the early days? Sure. BUT THEY ALL SAID THEY STOPPED GOING WITH THE COMPANY SCRIPT BECAUSE IT DIDN'T SUIT THEM. Jin even talked about this too.
Recently he asked someone on his live whether they were child- safe to say he's grown up himself no? While in the group he always wanted to be respected and treated as an adult. I'm sorry but I don't think he would avail his strings to be pulled on like a puppet by anyone.
Plus this is his Solo phase. Those personas were fashioned to keep the group interesting. He's not in a group anymore and dont need these tactics. He's outgrown them. and the only persona that sells for him is if he is himself. HE IS THE BRAND. HIM. NOBODY ELSE.
I for one I'm more interested in Jeon Jungkook than any facade anyone wants him to put on.
Also their solo phase certainly impacts the power dynamics between the company and the boys. He can decide be don't want to do solo or music any more and the company won't have anything to say about that. Of course there's still contracts with brands, and record labels and food delivery and he has to fulfill his obligations under those but it's pretty much his way or the high way these days 🥴
I like to think he has more control over his career and life in general now compared to when he was part of a group and just a child pursuing a career in an industry such as kpop. As a member of a team his identity was tied to the groups. Whatever he said and did affected everyone's career and reputation in the group, and in turn affected their brand deals so there was so much pressure to conform and so much censorship of his actions and words whereas now whatever he does dont affects them. just him and his brand.
You can see his marketing strategies though. Participating in challenges, going on live shows to promote his music, sharing links on weverse, filming with members- I don't even think he's leaning so much into his ships as a means of pushing his song. Trust me, he's not compromising himself and his values just to sell a song. He's doing everything by the books. Nothing shady going on here🥴
As usual it's just my opinion. Time will tell if he's doing all this as some marketing ploy.

So I've just been on twitter and someone recommended I check on Ayrastarr's IG and guess who's she following!!!
And 🤭🤭 there were rumours on twitter that she was one of the artists that jimin is going to collaborate with for pjm2. My afrobeat heart is so happy cause that means jimin listens to afrobeat cause otherwise how would he have heard about a Nigerian singer and jimin is all hands in his every project and song ❤️❤️
And he's rumoured to have a Collab with Normani, Ariana and Bruno Mars too and the Ariana one is highly possible besides the fact that jimin was recording in Ariana's producer's studio but Ariana was also in London during the same period as jimin and so was Normani.
And Ayo the producer admitted to have a song with jimin earlier this year and said it was going to be released but didn't say when he's worked with Chris Brown, Beyonce and Cardi B y'all so whatever it is that they cooked it's bomb

I was depressed during the last few weeks because of school nobody told me law was this draining I was studying during recess and then the 🛴 saga and jk happened but now I'm seeing the light I'm so so fking happy!!!
And Universal music group followed jimin at the beginning of the year and now Universal music publishing is credited as a distributor under Like Crazy many guessed that it's because of Blvsh changing her agency and that they've been distributing BTS music blah blah, but I think not, UMG followed jimin at the begging of the year , the only member in BTS and now they are listed as a distributor for LC for me and my delulu mind that means jimin is going to get better advertising and marketing for his song and maybe pjm2 and scooter won't interfere anywhere UMGP is bigger than both Hybe and Geffen combined
I've been knew we're getting new music but I'm always happy and excited for news like this, something positive.

Algorithms don't require hashtags.
Today is my last day working at a marketing agency. I asked our social media team how these things work, because I was curious. It's actually fairly simple (and extremely creepy imo).
Some self-purported clairvoyant on Instagram or TikTok wants to seem mystical and convince you that their prediction or message is ✨️meant for you✨️ so they use a very basic trick: they don't put hashtags on their video. That makes it look like it was a complete coincidence (or synchronicity 🙄) that it came across your screen.
The coding that runs that website/app, however, doesn't need hashtags! Those are for us, not for them. We're going to say IG. So this person has created other videos, and those have hashtags. They have searched tags. They have interacted with other videos in the same genre - likes, comments, shares. They follow other accounts in the same genre. They google witchy shit. They look up tarot spreads on Pinterest. They're part of witchy groups on Facebook. The algorithms collect all of that information and use that to classify tagless videos.
Now, how does it get to you? The exact same way. You have already interacted with similar content. Even if you just watch 10 seconds of a video, it counts into your algorithm. You searched for witchy tags. You commented on someone else's witchy post. You liked something. Your FB, Pinterest, tumblr, and Google history has all been shared with IG. They know what you want to see, so they show it to you.
And then, the tagless video you're being shown by some grifter says something so broad there's pretty much no way it couldn't apply to you - they just dress up the language first so it doesn't seem so obvious. I can't tell you the number of times that those videos I've seen basically boil down to, "You're going to learn the truth about something," or "Someone, somewhere, in the world is doing something," or "You had a bad day in the past, but in the future you're going to also have a good day."
These videos are fun and cute, but please don't make the mistake of thinking they got to you through magic, or that they hold a special meaning just for you. They don't. They aren't meant for you as a person; they're meant for you as a commodity and source of income.

After signing with the agency Wasserman, the group recieved another award - a golden plaque for their single Carpe Diem, which gathered two million streams in Finland. The award was presented on Friday by Virgin Music Group at a press conference in Belgrade which was confirmed by IFPI Finland. The song Carpe Diem has gained over 40 million streams worldwide.

"This award isn't only a confirmation of their success outside their national domestic market, but also proof that language isn't a barrier for a successful international career," said Fabian Stilke, general manager for Universal Music Group in the western Balkan region.

In October, Joker Out played two concerts in Novi Sad, were guests at Rakičan manor, fired up Vienna, and played two more euphoric concerts in Belgrade at the end of last week.
The Serbian music portal Headliner wrote that it was a concert "As if tomorrow didn't exist". On Friday and Saturday, they're preparing the same party in Tvornica Kulture in Zagreb, which will be followed up by concerts in Warsaw, Vilnius, Wroclaw, Poznan, Prague, Rijeka, Skopje, Munich, The Hague, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, Celje, Maribor and Novo mesto.

And the magui cheating on joao felix i think there were people who had sent pics of her cheating to a gossip account on ig I can't remember it but me and my friends were talking abt it during our free period today and one of them said that she saw a tikok where there were vids of magui and a guy that wasn't joao during their relationship. Yeah I can well believe that about the agency. But I think all agencies of “influencer” models will do the same, try to get the girls on Raya and invited to parties with sportspeople. That is part of their job, to get these girls seen. People want to make it a sordid thing but it’s a pretty standard operating model.
Idk people have this weird thing about “clout chasing” the same way they used to have a thing about models getting “work” done like…sorry life doesn’t just happen to people, it’s all called “their job”. Grow tf up 🙄
(also stop infantilising the men. These men hang out where they hang out specifically TO FIND girls like that. They know what they’re doing. Dating is literally a meat market, they’re just shopping in a different supermarket. It doesn’t make them stupid)
I mean…if she cheated, she cheated. It’s not great but where is the moral indignation coming from from people bc Lando isn’t your friend, why do you care? Also, if the public knows about it, then Lando knows about it. Whether he’s dating her or not, he will know about whatever happened because they are clearly friends. He doesn’t care, so why does anyone else?
The whole obsession with people hating on this girl just gives “bored and bitter”.
Also I high key wish people would lift the lid on these celeb dating things (and NOT when they’re trying to sell you a “how to” ebook) because people just really think “PR” or “transactional” relationships are SO much more dramatic than they actually are. And I’ve never dated a famous person but I’ve dated in adjacent circles and fr the way people think these young women are all Anna Delvey scamming idiot men is so…not true.
